I watched Everything Everywhere All At Once the other night

It was not what I expected because it somehow slipped mind that it's supposed to have comedy in it

But it was good. Ended the movie in tears :,)

Movies about child/parent relationships are so important to me. How can you be a good child? How can you be a good parent? How is it fair that you can fail even when you're doing your best?

Movies like this one, Inside Out, and Turning Red do so well in showing that growing up is hard and growing away from your parents is hard and even despite this, your parents are proud of you and they love you and they will tear apart the multiverse to show you that.

Reading a fic that's so well written I wish I could close my eyes and just let the descriptions and atmosphere wash over me, but the dilemma with closing my eyes is, well, I then would not be able to continue reading this fic, now would I.

As much as I am obsessed with the new Percy Jackson show, I do have to say that it would have definitely benefitted if it wasn't made in this insane modern era of 'make sure series have as few episodes as possible and just make the episodes a little longer to try and make up for it'. Maybe this strategy saves on production costs, or maybe because it's straight to streaming and not cable, they don't have to worry about filling smaller, but a higher quantity of, weekly slots, or whatever cable TV does.

I just miss having slower pacing and episodes where you could just have some breathing room to understand the world building, instead of this capitalist strategy of 'get to the action ASAP otherwise our viewers will get bored and the show will get cancelled'. Because I promise you, it won't. 99% of what of what people have been freaking out over about the show is the little details, such as the blue food (specifically blue candy), Clarisse's spear and Dionysus' diet cokes.

Idk, I just would have preferred having 15-20 episodes that were 20-30 minutes long instead of 8 30-50 minute episodes, as the show can feel a little rushed and streamlined at times, such as the Mrs Dodds fight, which did not have as much build up as it did in the books.

cold comfort + the trolley problem … the reece characters channeling suicidal girls with absent fathers … haunting and manipulating their steve characters … playing vulnerable & helpless (& suicidal) to draw them into webs of guilt & deceit …..

i feel so unwell about george from cold comfort actually. the way reece originally wanted him to have an earring but that would "tip it into something strange" "open a certain door" (they left in that crossdressing joke though didn't they) …. and they switched roles before filming it… and reece as himself does chloe again in the last episode at a pivotal moment… i feel so crazy… i explained why i will always look at these episodes through the lens of who plays which character & why i think it matters, but what does it ever even mean, really

the allocations they Subconsciously Imagine and the reasons thereof are endlessly intriguing to me

I watched that Amazing Digital Circus show that i keep seeing art for, and tbh, I am not surprised it found an audience. Think about it:

Them being humans trapped in artificial entertainment characters is basically, Fnaf from the perspective of the monsters. But without the murdering. Probably.

i don't think i could ever truly be a pessimist. yes, life is full of a lot of hurt, a lot of bad. but then you read stories about ppl going above & beyond for others, ppl doing what seems like the impossible for their loved ones, and it just... it's hard to be pessimistic. love is indeed real, goodness is indeed real. hatred & negativity are such powerful emotions, they tend to blind you from how much love the world has. yes, life is hard, and life can be messed up. but there is always positivity, too. there is always something worth living for; no matter how small, or big that may be.
