Not me idly wondering what are the jaegers made of, checking out the wiki and once again going mad with crumbs:
a) I reject Mark 1s being made out of iron bc that's just. Not a thing. This sentiment started the mess below.
b) Gottlieb's dad started The Jaeger Program! Tony Stark had a dad! It's all according to plan.
c) The PR lore is insane and I love it.
"I reject that thesis and raise you this," Stark spins his chair around to point his pen at Amadeus's face. "My suits are just that good."
Amadeus raises an eyebrow. "All the seals melted," he says. "We had to cut Robbie out of it. He should've cooked, even if the flame retardant held up. You know there's more to it, and if you backed me up--"
"Oh, there sure is more to it. More body horror I want nowhere near my lab." Stark shudders. "Let's just be glad he made it and leave it at that, huh?"
It takes every ounce of Amadeus's professionalism not to say 'nuh-huh'. He's already laid out his theory. As tempting as it is to go around in circles until he wears Stark down, they have other work to do. It's just--it's so bloody frustrating! He joined the jaeger program specifically to study demon biology and its influence to exposed humans, and he's been stuck mid-maxing the rangers' reaction times like some run of the mill engineer.
He's seen what happens to people who trade in demon remains without protective equipment. The initial increase in strength and agility gives way to organ failure as soon as the corruption reaches the bloodstream. The longest documented survival rate was less than seventy-two hours from exposure and judging by the case footage still replaying occasionally in Amadeus's nightmares, the poor woman wasn't holding scholarly conversations in the last twenty-four.
Now, the exposure must be physical - drifting with the lesser categories haven't shown to cause the same rapid tissue degradation. The beastie riders down in the Bone Slums reported occasional headaches and weird dreams, but it's impossible to verify without independent study, and, well. Then there's Robbie.
Robbie has never drifted, period, before the accident with The Charger. His sudden physical improvements could be easily explained away by access to regular meals and a brutal training regime, and he passed medical before even approaching a jaeger. There is nothing about him - nothing that Amadeus has found so far, at least - that differs from any of the other rangers, other than, oh, being able to drift solo with the most haunted piece of technology ever allowed into military use. And now, apparently, withstanding an over twelve hundred degrees Celcius firestorm.
The media nicknamed the demon Inferno - there wasn't time for anything more creative. The whole Cam Ranh Bay turned to glass, eleven thousand dead, two whole jaegers reduced to slag. The only reason there is any Vietnam left to mourn the losses is still cooling in the sea outside the Shatterdome. The Charger isn't made of anything special, it's the same steel alloys as all the other Mark-2s. When Inferno threw up it's fiery guts all over it, Amadeus started mentally composing a way to break the news to Gabe - like hell he was going to let Ivanov field that one - and he's still not entirely convinced he hasn't hit his head and imagined the way the black jaeger's chains flew out of the fire to wrap around the demon's neck.
It's still black, although no longer from paint. The techs are already busy scrubbing it down and replacing the fried electronics, because at least something got damaged to prove Robbie didn't just teleport his mech in and out of the battle. At this point, there is no discounting any possible scenario. Maybe if he ran a Pons simulation with the Icebox protocol...
Stark sighs. "Kid, let me give you some sage advice," he says. His tone is suddenly very serious - enough to get Amadeus's attention. "Do you know what the military does with weird shit they can't explain?"
"What are you--?"
"One of two things," Stark slaps a finger to his open palm. "Either they pretend everything is hunky-dory as long as the weird shit does what they want, or," he adds a second finger, "someone complains about the weird shit enough that they lock it up, out of sight. So they can speed-run their tests. Are you picking up? What I'm putting down, here?"
Amadeus swallows past the lump in his throat. "You own the Jaeger Program."
Stark rolls his eyes. "You're confusing me with my father again. Keep up." His expression softens somewhat. "Look, I don't like it either."
"Save it," Amadeus pulls on his coat. "I'm going out."
"Cho, don't be--"
"See you at the debrief."

Laura's RP Questionnaire 2023
Your Name: Laura Characters: Hercules Kouros, Jessica Wright, Jeremy J. Johnson, Wolfgang Amadeus.
Pick one of your characters and talk about their growth (we recommend choosing an older character, but it’s up to you!) What about their story has surprised you? What are you proud of? How have they changed from their original inception to now?
Jeremy! Ok he’s had a busy year really, without me noticing or really intending to! I loved getting to go through his coming out arc and exploring what that looked like with his concerns about his family and friends, but ultimately finding a lot of acceptance and happiness in the decision. So that’s always something that is lovely to explore. Then of course he’s also been grappling with some big decisions about his life - and accepting that while his course is great, and valuable, and important, it’s not what sets his soul alight. The contrast between the play and the internship was really something I wanted to try and demonstrate that with. Ultimately it played out with surprisingly little fanfare because I wasn’t really giving it my full attention over summer, but I hope that it was still satisfying for you all as audience. Jere always surprised me with his intensity of feeling. He’s supposed to be my super-chill go with the flow muse, but I guess Canon!Jeremy fought aliens with his gf so I shouldn’t be surprised he’s a ride or die kind of person. That of course ultimately has made it painful for him to now be in the situation where his relationship hasn’t worked out, and I want to pay tribute to that and let him mourn, let him write some songs and process those feelings in the way he does best. He’s also been so much kinder than I would have anticipated. He is really empathetic towards people and I love having a character like that in the dorms because in this simmering pot of hormones he is kind and caring and calm. So I think overall he’s become a much richer and more three dimensional person, and I hope to continue that into the next year!
Pick another character (or the same character if you only have one) and talk a little about where you WANT them to go. What are your plans for them going into the new year?
Jessie - The back half of the year has been pretty quiet for Jessie so I want to address her for this. After decades of never sticking in one place for long, she’s finally staying put. No wonder she’s kinda exhausted and has been taking things slow. But I’d like to shake that up a little, moving forward. Obviously first off we have her new coven-situation with Dian, which means her assuming a more proactive role in local vampire activity. I’d like to explore this because she never really felt she had much say in things in the Round Up days, and her being the more leadership figure here is an interesting point of difference for her. I also want her to keep negotiating the tricky world of having human relationships and interactions with people again. She’s allowed a very small number in at this point, but always a little at arms length. That will be something a little bit tricky and I will have to look at each of those relationships in turn and really think about what will work for them because there’s no single key to getting her to open up. Also I want to plan a heist for her, I have already discussed this briefly with a view to making it happen. I’d love to see her brain in action and like, regain some of her passion and excitement to kick her out of the slump she’s been in. But also I know that writing her sometimes leans into the softer sides of her character and I’d love to play with her mischief and her brains and her sneakiness.
Pick a thread or a plot that you’re proud of and talk about why you loved it.
Hercules’ Pandemonium Arc - firstly because I struggle with plotting. Genuinely I am very slow to create plots in my brain, and that plot (because of the nature of the event) had to come together quite quickly. I took my plot calls, discussed and organised and turned it into a pretty coherent narrative of the night for Hercules. For me personally I am really proud of that, and of grabbing that opportunity when it came up. I also think it showcased the very best of him; brave and strong and determined to protect other people. That really cut through his usual narrative of self-doubt and self-esteem issues and reminded me like, there is steel underneath here, there is so much heart, it’s just slowly peeling back the layers to let it shine.
Wolf’s Murder Assist/Fallout- My first big plot drop! Baby’s first felony! I’ve never been involved in a plot like this while I’ve been in the RP so this was a first. I am also proud of the writing I did during those threads. I hope that it came across to the reader as I tried to flesh out what was happening and Wolf’s side of that experience. I am also really proud of how I have worked with the aftermath of that because I always want to be exploring the consequences of actions, how that affects people and how it is a larger part of their story.
In terms of your own writing, identify 1-3 things you love to write about (metaphors? Sibling relationships? Physical description?) and talk about why you enjoy it!
Sensory details. I don’t think I realised this until recently, but one of the amazing things about RP is that you have so much more room than conventional literature to focus on the little things. This is, ironically, genuinely something I have picked up from my academic writing where I did a lot of sense-based analysis to explore actual environments from the past and how they were experienced. But I love to add those details; what is the weather doing, what effect does that have on a person, what sights and sounds and smells are happening. Movement too, like… if a pair of characters are going out for a coffee, how are they moving? Are they eating their pastry keenly, are they picking at it, are they too engrossed and forgot it all together. That stuff really adds richness to me and I hope to you all too.
Smut.* You know what, unironically. I know we’ve been talking about it a lot lately so maybe it's just on my mind but genuinely I find it fun to write. I find it fun to explore intimacy in all of its different forms because that’s what smut is! Even the most casual of hook-ups is about characters putting themselves in a physical or emotionally vulnerable place, and we can see a lot about the individual characters based on that, or about how their dynamic works! Like snowflakes, every one is different. It can be an amazing way of showing a different side to characters, or it can just be fun! Obviously mostly this is something I have explored with Herc but who knows, new year might bring new things. As I type this I also realise that like… I think that has the potential, in future, once he’s less heart-broken, to be something interesting for Jeremy. He’d confirmed his romantic attraction to men but he’s never really explored his sexual attraction to men. So a new horizon for him maybe one day and a very different experience to write about.
Unlikely Friendships! So the thing about playing any character really, but especially my ‘nice guys’ is that I am sometimes paranoid about them being too boring. Because in fiction, a nice person can really easily lack the ‘spark’ that brings them to life, they don’t have the kind of intense confrontational relationships that really crackle and pop. But what they do offer is those unlikely friendships. Jeremy has had a tonne of these; Candace, Vanessa, Marie, his whole dynamic with Pip, many more, but other characters do too (Jessie and Roz springs to mind, Wolf and King, Herc and … all of his female friends). I think that sometimes putting together characters who you would never assume work and just being a little patient with it can create the most wonderful friendships and I love exploring them.
What major updates have your characters gone through this year? (For example: beginning/ending a relationship, moving, starting a new job, adopting a pet, etc). Think if it as anything you would have put in the #character-updates channel. If you have a pinned post, consider adding these updates so everyone is aware of them in the future.
Hercules - said bye to Michael :( which was sad, but their whole friendship meant so much to him it is very precious to me. Hired Evy. Fired Evy - this was a much bigger landmark, its the first time he’s ever had to fire a staff member as the boss. He feels horrible, but is stepping into that role. PANDEMONIUM also saw him defending his business, and innocent people in what was a big moment for him, he played the hero for a bit and used his powers and saw them as something other than destructive for a change. Has grappled with complicated feelings about Gen and about how to deal with intense romantic attraction that hasn’t, sadly, panned out for him. He’s maybe not coping in the healthiest ways.
Jessie - Moved to The Woods. This was a big step, her choosing to stop moving for a while and its left her pretty exhausted, combined with all other events that have happened. She helped to look after 3 of the Morey boys during PANDEMONIUM and revealed a different side to herself, which brought up a lot of past issues. Her and Nick’s friendship has deepened. Bullseye is back in her life <3 she is trying to navigate that and her and Dian’s newly agreed to coven.
Jeremy - Started secretly dating Pip! Came out! Started openly dating Pip! Tried to navigate new relationship! Befriended Penny to help Pip’s career! Made friends with Mirabel his study bud <3 Got cast as lead in the play by accident! Did an internship at DevTech! Hated it! Had sense talked into him by Pip and Candace! Told his parents he wants to pursue music after university! It went worse than the coming out! Argued with Pip about Penny! Ultimately broke up because he feels Pip couldn’t let him into his life
Wolf: He came. He saw. He brooded. He got embroiled in protecting the Inn from a plot to threaten Snow out of selling her bone-blood to vampires, but ultimately failed. He was shot while trying to protect Snow, with a tourmaline bullet so he almost bled out on Ting’s sofa (mvp). He has been trying to ensure the cover-up stays covered-up with varying degrees of success. He needs a nap.
Talk about your dash reply style and your Discord reply style! (And if applicable, also your doc reply style). What do you like about each type of interaction? What is something you feel is difficult? Do you have preferences regarding how many times you’re tagged per day, or do you prefer for your replies to be queued for a certain amount of time?
Dash - I am fairly consistent. My default style. I like to try to get to every character at least once a day and tackle replies in blocks where I can sink into the character vibe. I sometimes ‘manage’ my replies to not bombard the same people if I’m doing a lot of catching up. If people ever want to go back and forth on a thread please ask, because I will assume a ‘1 a day’ stance otherwise but would love to bounce around more if people want!
Discord - I have actively got worse at discord events, I am sorry. I think it’s because I am more distracted in the evenings watching tv in the background. But I want to get back into the habit more because our discord events are such a great opportunity for off-the-cuff plotting or character moments and I love that.
Docs - generally I use docs for either surpriiiiiiiiiiiise plots to maintain secrecy and ensure pieces are sorted out in advance, or for things that might be intense or triggering (this can vary from emotional intensity to like… if it’s just smut and even though the read-mores are easier these days it can still be a bit more efficient to just use 1 doc and have a clean flow. Gotta remember what everyone's hands are doing). But I’m always down!
As for replies to me - have at it! I love replies, they are little gifts to me! I have nothing else in my life right now. Go for it. If I am behind on replies or something, then you may notice I am slower getting back to you, but I never mind being given the replies. I am also happy to accommodate schedules - need something rushed, let me know I’ll put a note in my little system
And now, a wishlist! Jot down a few themes or stories or genres etc that you want to maybe pursue in the upcoming year! (i.e. a good ol’ fashion forbidden romance, maybe you want to dig deep into racial identity etc) This doesn’t have to necessarily be attached to any characters or stories you have now– it’s just meant to help you see for yourself what kind of stories call to your heart.
I say this, aware I have spent the last few days essentially trying to pimp Hercules out, but I would love to see him have a genuine romance. He’s had a little bit of a taste of that this year, and is perhaps admitting to himself more that its something he wants. He wants to have a proper relationship, he wants to get married, have a family (not that that all happens immediately unless he’s very lucky), and that starts by opening himself up to genuine romantic connection beyond the purely sexual. Other than that its about continuing growth - he’s stepped more and more into his role as boss this year, quietly and steadily. He’s overseen hiring, firing, he’s supported his staff and got the gym through renovations and is even putting his own stamp on the reception. I’d like to see him start to realise that … he’s the man. Jeremy I want to explore his music more. He’s admitted it to himself, he’s admitted it to his parents, so it’s time to start making waves! I have a few ideas and I need to sit down and chat to a few people about making them happen. Let’s see him follow his passion. He’s also going to be losing some of the closest friends he’s got at uni with graduations this year, so I think maybe exploring some of those feelings of loneliness and impermanence that are often a part of the university experience would be interesting. Wolf I need to keep finding ways to pull him into the real world. It will be a struggle to keep him from withdrawing again and trying to keep that aloof detachment he loves so much, but I want to force him to do that. I also want to at least start sowing the seeds of him being revealed to the local werewolves, and exploring the very rich seam of angst that is ‘outsider and traitor living working for vampires but is one of us.’ I want to explore that isolation from the community he primarily identified himself with for most of his life, and unpack some of those issues. I can’t promise it will make him friendlier, but it will be interesting to see how some of those scars lie on him. Jessie … as I said above, it’s going to be about continuing to unravel her in different time streams past and present. I’d like to see her laugh more again. A threesome. Let's make it happen people.
OPTIONAL: Why do you RP?
So last year I talked about how I had started rping again as a way to work through some issues I was having with writer’s block on the thesis, and tackling some of my perfectionism issues. Having successfully done that I guess … I am here just for the love of it! It's kind of the thing keeping me sane right now, and I hope it will continue to be a companion when I finally do get a job and no-doubt have to uproot my life again.
*(Some smut acts I particularly enjoy writing and if you choose to take them as suggestions then I bear no legal responsibility but come see me, k?:
Oral (blow jobs or eating out - giving especially)
Face sitting - this is a bit of a Herc specific one but someone sitting on his face makes him a very happy boy he can stay there all day.
Mildish kink (Herc has proven that he likes to be tied up, he likes people to be rough with him, to tell him he’s being good… generally he’s a bit submissive and works very hard to please. So please let him. For other characters? Honestly don’t know but always something to explore).
Messy, desperate kinda sex, you know? I feel I haven’t done enough of that yet, the ‘We gotta get somewhere private immediately no time to get undressed’ kind.
Smut I'd like to write more of: m/m with the exception of Phil I haven't written much! Just generally exploring stuff more! Happy to take suggestions tbh. Maybe let's see Hercules in his ‘tease’ era (they can put him in his place afterwards). Rail him. I think we should see Herc get absolutely railed. For science.

Midsummer Mozart Festival
The wife and I went into the Year of the Concert naively. We have been uncommonly organized in tracking events we want to see in order to avoid conflicts. But we would find a show we wanted to see, whether together or separately, and we would buy the tickets, mark it as “acquired” on our tracking spreadsheet, and wait for the show.
While this is often the right approach for more popular shows, we learned along the way such haste is not necessary for the lesser acts that fill out our wish list. Ticketmaster will offer occasional deals with no fees (which can be a huge savings), and other venues offer various value packages.
While I had been familiar with Mountain Winery in Saratoga for decades, last year was the first time I ever went there, to separately see Boyz II Men and Sarah McLaughlin. In my younger days, I had mocked the venue for its roster of has-been artists, but I have found I have aged smack into their demographic. Now, I can’t get enough of the wares they have to offer.
Mountain Winery has a Loyalty Club, and the only membership requirement to join the club is to purchase tickets to 4 separate concerts in one season. Among the benefits of the club are free tickets to certain shows. I was dubious that this offer would be offered regularly, but since I ticked over the 4 show threshold, I have seen 5 separate freebie offers cross my inbox, and I’m eyeballing a few others in hope they are offered. But the only one I have accepted thus far is the Midsummer Mozart Festival.
Starting from the time I saw Amadeus as a child, I have loved Mozart’s symphonies and operas. Having played violin for a few years as a youth, I found he was a master at showcasing violins in a way that really inspired me.
I took my mother as a surprise treat. She and my father used to regularly attend small classical concert opportunities, frequenting the lunch time shows that were put on at Hertz Hall in Berkeley in previous years. But since my father passed, she has not been to any concerts. This opportunity was too ripe to pass up, and we made the last minute decision to take Mountain Winery up on their offer.
I picked her up, we used her ADA parking pass, and rode the shuttle down to the concert facility, and took their new lift down the final hill. The exit experience was just as simple and accessible. It was night and day experience from Alameda County Fairgrounds in terms of the services they offer those with mobility difficulties.
It turns out the concert was not in the typical seating pavilion at Mountain Winery but was instead held on a patio off to the side, with the small audience (probably less than 200 people) sitting in folding chairs. The view from the patio was lovely, as was the music. The 20-ish member orchestra played a short Mozart symphony before the intermission and closed with a hilarious mini-opera. Called Bastien und Bastienne, it is one of Mozart’s earlier operas.
Mom had a great time, and I really can’t begin to express my gratitude to Mountain Winery for making it possible for free. You have a devoted new fan, Mountain Winery.

(This drabble does contain suggestive and does border on sexual scenes but not as graphic as you may think read at your own choice I have warned you, if you ignored this message that is your fault and also I did not make you read this, you chose to do that yourself.)
Why....
Hats legs drummed impatiently, as fingers would on a desk, arms folded, his seasonal fur in, crimson and looking like a Priests stole, his body black all over apart from his face and the band on his hat, his throat baring a white mark.
Why...
He thought as he watched Flug sit there in their nest, doing nothing but reading.
He had Preened his fur to be it's softest, taken elaborate care to fluff it up knowing how much his Fly liked to snuggle into their nest especially on the feathery patch.
Getting up he stamped down one pointed leg infront of Flug.
"Am I not presentable, do I not please you, does my seasonal presentation not appeal to your senses!"
Acylius had nearly jumped out of his chitin and hit the roof, with a squeak he looked up from behind his book
"I-I beg your pardon?"
He asked meekly
"You beg my pardon... Heh.. Heh.. You beg my pardon?"
Hat laughed softly and yet in disbelief, a hand on the side of his scars
"Is it my scars?"
He picked him up, fingers easily wrapping around his waist with one hand.
Pinning him against the wall, he noticed Flugs body blues slowly turning into hues of Plumb and magenta, wings flitting or at least trying to.
"You are an enigma Flug, you resist all my flirtations during this time, despite how often we have been together..."
A claw slipped under his bag, tracing over his lips
"All the things you have done with that mouth...why have you not thought to use your talents during my mating season...have I in some way put you off?"
Acylius's let out a ragged breath, heart racing, blinking
"M-mating season, I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO EAT ME...I have been trying to be unappealing to you...so you wouldn't devour me!"
It was Black Hats turn to look like that meme with the woman who had all those math symbols around her head.
"What...I would love to devour you, but not like that...is that why you haven't ravished me yet?"
"WHAT... YOU I HMM THAT'S...what you!"
"Oh thank the damn forest, I thought you'd lost interest in me..."
He nuzzled against his neck, purring
"So...are you going to finally take me...satisfy me, I wanted to wait until a special moment before I let you take me..."
His fangs grazing over him
"I do not let others near me during this time...they know if they try I'll devour them and rip the limb from limb...but I want you Acylius..."
He felt him shiver under his touches, humming contentedly
Slowly licking over his chest.
"How will that work...I'm so much smaller than you...oh god...mmm I can't please you...not with my..."
Hat lifted his head again, leaning in, breath hot, Acylius could feel it through the bag, Black Hat slowly pulled the paper from his head, letting it fall to the floor, watching as his lovers cerulean eyes blinked at the sudden brightness, how pretty his flushed cheeks looked in the glow of firefly light.
"You have been worrying that you could not satisfy me because of our size difference? Silly little fly, if I had taken you with the full size of my cocks do you think you would still be in one piece?"
A claw stroking along his jaw line
"Do you think me incapable of shifting my insides, to make them tight, to make them wrap around you so you fill me and both enjoy ourselves..."
Acylius bit his lip, whining softly, thighs rubbing together, sheath swelling, leaning forward trying to kiss him, Hat kept his distance though, smelling that arousal building up on his little Fly was intoxicating.
"Even if I did not adjust myself, the way you vibrate when you get excitable, when you're aroused, the way you make my body tingle alll over as I have taken you in our nest repeatedly...I would love to feel that..."
His claws tapping lightly over Acylius's chest
"To feel it slip inside me...and make me come undone...have you ever topped anyone in your life Acylius...perhaps that is why you have shied away from asking prior to this?"
"I thought you were saving it for this moment?"
Flug whined, now eager to touch him, hands on his chest, running along the soft crimson fur, oh that was so nice, he wanted to bury his face into it
"I was, becuase you had never thought to bring it up...but you certainly are up now hmm?"
Hat answered, his voice a sultry purr
"So pretty..."
"Amadeus...I thought you would...you would not want, would be angry that such a small insignificant fly would dare to take charge.."
He admitted, looking down, worrying now that he'd said it Amadeus would find truth in his words.
"Insignificant..."
He lifted Acylius's head back up, a claw under his his chin
"You insignificant, you who has chased away my fears during storms, you who has listened to me and talked, shared yourself, who has often enough sassed me despite our sizes...insignificant...far from it..."
He moved back, taking Flug from the wall he'd had him pressed against, settling them into their nest, he positioned him to rest on his side.
"It is your turn Acylius...please do not make me wait longer than I already have..."
"Sir...has...has anyone ever topped...you?"
Acylius asked gently, already missing the feel of Hats fingers around his waist, his hands stroking over where the spiders legs joined to his body, tracing along their roots, watching as a couple of them moved slightly and a small giggle left the demons lips.
"Would you think less of me if I said yes?"
"No, what you do and have done is your decision...so long as we are faithful to each other...I mean I if you are in a relationship with me..."
Hat reached up and cupped his face, his hand nearly engulfing his head and yet still Acylius nuzzled into the palm.
"Flug, really you still need to question if I love you, is it not yet obvious?"
"You love me?"
"I would give the last of my eyes if only to hear you whisper it once to me my little fly."
Acylius looked over this great spider king, whose crimson eyes shimmered, pools of blood amongst ash with the body of night and velvet wine, posed in submission and waiting with a desperate hope to hear him, a small creature that should have been a meal to declare love...
"I love you.."
Acylius leaned in kissing him
"I love you..."
He deepened the kisses, feeling hat respond so carefully, he was so tender, such power under such control under heated breath a rippling growl as Hat pulled his body closer nuzzling into his neck once more
"Make love to me Acylius, please do not keep me waiting."
Acylius felt the tip of a leg tracing along his spine, his wings flaring out and his own smile grew
"As you wish...my king."
They spent hours their bodies entwined, pleasured cries that had others wondering if Black Hat was being murdered, in agony, unware he was being pleasured and senses rendered repeatedly, yes Flug absolutely knew how to vibrate, how to pleasure him, every time they'd been together he'd paid attention to every single thing that had made Hat squirm and become excitable, what would make his mind spiral and become ravenous and well one day he would be bigger than his darling spider king, he would over size him, so for now it was only best to enjoy being able to be held in Hats arms until that day when he would miss these moments...then again with the magic of possibility perhaps he could shift his shape to.
But that was a worry for another time.
The beauty beside him, beneath him thathe was buried into was all that mattered, the softness of his fur, face buried and kissing him, the curling of legs that twitched when they accidentally touched his wing in a quiet fear of tearing them, intense and passionate.
It was...indescribable, perfection a Fly and A spider lovers, one of natures greatest ironies and miracles, into the night they danced, only with the rising sun did they still, finally exhausted and cuddling, hues of morning shimmering over ebony and white, heavy breathing slowly settling and a spider king nuzzling into the throat of his lover who now slept, wings twitching.
Whispering another I love you
Before both fell into their slumber.
It would be later of course when white hat came to visit to make sure his brother had not been killed after all the crying he'd heard.
He peeked in and saw the messy scene before him and pinched his nose.
Scuttling off
Nope there was no death, the only thing hat had been was wrecked.

Welcome to the Order of the Phoenix, Christie!
You have been accepted for the role of non-biography character DEDALUS DIGGLE with the faceclaim of Amadeus Serafini! We love reading about your Diggle! He was such a delight. We especially enjoyed the family section, which has been less-than-thrilled with his activism, along with the prejudice section that showed Dedalus not always taking the time to listen to those with less privilege. It shines a particularly real light, right now especially. So happy to have you apart of this roleplay!
Please take a look at the new member checklist and send in your account within 24 hours! Thank you for joining the fight against Voldemort!
OUT OF CHARACTER:
NAME: Christie
AGE: 20
TIMEZONE: GMT+3
ACTIVITY LEVEL: I’m a uni student who’s almost done with her deadlines so very soon I’ll have a lot of free time and I’d love to dedicate it to further developing Dedalus in this group. This might be subject to change if I actually manage to get a job (fingers crossed) but I’m sure I’ll still have time to do replies and just interact with people in general at least a few times a week. Plus my weekends are free for the foreseeable future so there’s always that!
ANYTHING ELSE: Nope
CHARACTER DETAILS:
NAME: Dedalus Diggle
AGE: 26
GENDER, PRONOUNS, and SEXUALITY: Cis male, he/him. He uses no labels for his sexuality – purely because he’s not currently aware of one that accurately describes him – but is very openly interested in people of all genders. Bisexuality is the term he’d consider closest to accurately describing his orientation, though it’s not quite right either. In modern terms, I’d say he’s pansexual.
BLOOD STATUS: Pureblood
HOUSE ALUMNI: Ravenclaw
ANY CHANGES: –
CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
PERSONALITY:
Less is more has never been a philosophy that applies to Dedalus, not in any way, shape or form. He talks big, dreams even bigger, and the catch of it all is that nobody believes in what he says more than he himself does. Optimism or naivete, it’s hard to tell, but he has a great deal of both and somehow, for better or worse, the world hasn’t managed to run him down just yet. He’s open, and friendly, and so very excitable, and as much as that can be a strength, he’s also no stranger to taking things too far. He’s very familiar with social faux pas, whether as a result of not reading the room or simply of a miscalculated attempt to raise people’s spirits gone wrong.
It comes as no surprise that as a former Ravenclaw, his mind is his greatest weapon. Dedalus is very intelligent, though that might not be too obvious just from the way he behaves. Most people would probably perceive him as rather silly, really, if not downright bonkers since most of his ideas are very much outlandish. To say he struggles with expressing his ideas in a way they would make more sense would imply he actively tries to, which simply isn’t the case. He’s perfectly content in saying his piece and letting people dismiss him as somewhat of an oddball if they so wish.
Since his head is so often up in the clouds, however, it’s hard to keep track of what goes on on the ground. Dedalus is very much off in his own Dedalus-land most of the time, seeing and perceiving things purely the way he wants to, and in a sense, there’s definitely a disconnection between him and the rest of the world. He’s not necessarily aware of it either, but that doesn’t make it any less present.
BRIEF OVERVIEW OF FAMILY:
The Diggle family currently consists of Delia, Samuel and Dedalus, not accounting for a variety of cousins whose names, quite frankly, Dedalus cannot remember for the life of him. Lots of D-names, he’d say at a guess; those always seem to be a hit within his family. And as far as his relationship with his parents goes, he tries not to think about it too much. It’s strained, without a doubt, though Dedalus doesn’t want to consider exactly how strained. They’ve always had their differences, ever since he’d been old enough to express an opinion, but for the past few years, he’s been slowly but surely distancing himself from them and they don’t seem to mind terribly much. They’re letting him live out his ‘rebellious phase’, they say and for Dedalus, that further solidifies the fact they don’t really know him at all. He’s always been somewhat of a disappointment, anyway; it’s no surprise they wouldn’t mind if people stopped associating him too much with the Diggle family.
Thinking back, they’d liked him much better before he’d started thinking for himself – back when he followed etiquette, when he spent time only with people who meant something in the Wizarding World, when he didn’t think too much about muggle-borns, and half-bloods, and all those little things he so likes to talk about these days. Delia and Samuel are much too dignified to publicly admit something as crude as the belief muggle-borns are less capable, less worthy, less, but, well, it’s true, isn’t it? They certainly wouldn’t bring up the topic in polite company, but facts are facts.
OCCUPATION:
Owner of Dedalus Diggle’s Delights, a candy shop in Diagon Alley that he founded with his parents’ money back when he was twenty-one and they were becoming particularly unbearable with their admonishments and lectures on responsibility. It was simply a clever way to say ‘screw you’ at first – starting and running a proper business is hard work but Dedalus also takes immense pride in the fact that his parents could hardly say they’d expected this; after all, what said childish and irresponsible better than candy? In the past few years, however, Dedalus Diggle’s Delights has developed a bitter rivalry with Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop, though it is unclear whether Dedalus is the only one who really perceives it that way. Grudgingly, he will admit Sugarplum’s seems to be doing better at the moment but, he will also be quick to add, that is, of course, only because he hardly has the time to invest into his shop as he is just so very busy with his other job.
For the unenlightened, ‘other job’ refers to his little experiments, which isn’t really a proper job. Dedalus fancies himself a bit of a tinkerer, an innovator, and he spends most of his days crafting magical items with varying degrees of success. One you might be familiar with if you’ve spoken to him for longer than thirty seconds is his pocket watch. Quite the handy little thing, he won’t hesitate to let you know. Always knows your schedule and reminds you if you’re late for an appointment!
For the enlightened, however, ‘other job’ refers to his work for the Order – also not exactly a proper job, come to think of it. Dedalus is very dedicated to the cause and always eager to help even with the smallest of jobs. Newer members might appreciate the help at first, though conversations with Dedalus rarely end once the job is done so perhaps they’ve ought to know better by now than to accept his help unless they’ve got time to spare. His main job, the way he sees it, is to provide a different point of view, the more outlandish the better. No one can spark a conversation quite like Dedalus Diggle and he takes great pride in that.
ROLE WITHIN THE ORDER/THOUGHTS ABOUT THE ORDER:
Stepping out of character for this one – because while Dedalus has a lot of thoughts on his role within the Order, he does tend to see things in his own Dedalus way – I’d say that outside of helping wherever he’s needed and filling out empty roles on missions, the biggest asset he brings to the Order is his mind. He’s very good at taking a step back and providing a different perspective – granted, it’s usually a fairly outlandish perspective, but once stripped of its more fantastical elements, other members will often find there’s a lot of value in his input. He’d be perfect for an advisor if he only he was less… extraordinary in his ideas which often err on the side of impractical if not impossible. He personally calls it ‘dreaming big’ but you can see how that line is so easily crossed.
And speaking of big dreams and idealism, Dedalus very much believes the Order will prevail. He finds it easier than most might to shake off the small losses and disadvantages because in his head it’s simply impossible that the Order would lose. He’s very much a good versus evil kind of guy and in his head, the Order represents good and thus will always prevail. It would be absolutely fascinating to explore how bigger losses (ex: the death of James) might change things as far as Dedalus’ belief, certainty and, to a degree, naivete go, and how those potential change might manifest.
While I imagine his dedication and input are enough to qualify him for the Inner circle, Dedalus, unfortunately, is also much too absentminded to be trusted with the most important of the Order’s secrets and decisions. He’s no stranger to slipping up and admitting things he’s not supposed to be sharing, and while it’s usually small things and he’s pretty good at playing up the ’I’m just a random weirdo, don’t mind what I’m saying’ card, I can’t imagine the Order would be willing to risk it. And so he is a mid-level member, but the higher-ups are probably still careful and quite possibly only ever tell him the bare minimum he needs to know.
SURVIVAL:
As mentioned, Dedalus very much lives in his own world to a certain extent. He sees things the same everybody else does, but his interpretations are almost always positive and optimistic in favour of himself and the Order. This is more in terms of mentality, as far as survival goes, but I do feel that’s also something very important to consider. At the moment, I’d say he’s in a pretty good mental state in the sense that he’s mostly content and the horrors of war haven’t managed to quite make an impact. If he were to become disillusioned – which I personally think is really only a matter of time – that would certainly change things and survival might just become a whole lot harder.
Outside of his own head, he’s got it pretty easy when compared to most. His parents are wealthy and mostly happy to let him have his ‘rebellious phase’ for a while longer which as far as they’re aware consists purely of Dedalus foregoing all pureblood etiquette and expectations. Hardly anyone suspects his affiliation with the Order due to how absent-minded and irresponsible he comes across as, though he himself has had a few close calls with accidentally exposing himself; luckily, people are used to him talking nonsense and it’s not hard for him to cover up his near slip-ups as more mindless prattle.
RELATIONSHIPS:
If Dedalus had his way, he’d spend days and days just chatting with people. They wouldn’t even need to say anything back – he has more than enough to say on a multitude of topics and he can absolutely hold an entire conversation, an argument even, all by himself. All the better if there’s someone to nod along.
That said, here are some ideas I had after browsing some bios/apps (that are of course just my interpretation and completely a subject to change after chatting with the other writers!):
Gideon Prewett: With how people seem to go to him for advice and how he brings stability to the Order, I think he could be someone to balance Dedalus out. Dedalus has good ideas and even better intentions, but in reality, his ideas are only worth executing after they’ve been sufficiently dialled down and their more outlandish elements have been worked out.
Amos Diggory: Just based off of their jovial, friendly personalities, I think Dedalus and Amos would get on like a house on fire. Dedalus would certainly enjoy his presence, be it for a quick chat or a smoke, and I think they have the potential to be great friends.
Emmeline Vance: Emmeline and Dedalus seem to share an interest in figuring out how things work and it would be so cool to explore their dynamic especially since I also love the contrast between her, who is so easy to overlook, and Dedalus, who doesn’t let people look anywhere but at him.
Hestia Jones: With how good Hestia is at thinking outside the box, I feel she and Dedalus are definitely kindred spirits in that sense. But while her ideas might get shot down, people listen to Dedalus and maybe that can cause some friction between them.
Ndulue Travers: I came across the “Do they have money? Flair? A sense of humour and an ability to hold their liquor? Let’s be friends!” part of their app and Dedalus definitely has all of the above, even if his ability to hold his liquor is a bit questionable. Oh, well. He’d argue it makes things more fun anyway.
Edgar Bones: Similar to Gideon, I feel like he’d be a good foil for Dedalus. Dedalus spends more time with his head in the clouds rather than his feet on the ground so he definitely needs someone who leans more towards the opposite to keep him grounded – or to clash with, though Dedalus rarely if ever looks for confrontation.
OOC EXPLORATION:
SHIPS/ANTI-SHIPS: Oh, man, I’d be open to exploring just about any ship with Dedalus. He’s very much a ‘try everything at least once’ type of guy so honestly, he himself is very open to all kinds of romantic and sexual relationships too.
WHAT PRIVILEGES AND BIASES DOES YOUR CHARACTER HAVE?
Dedalus likes to think of himself as a very progressive wizard indeed; he almost makes it a point to always be the most open and accepting he can be. His intentions are good and his actions are genuine though I do imagine it might not come across this way to some – after all, if he’s trying that hard to show everybody how open-minded he is, surely he’s got something to hide or make up for, no? Then there’s also the other side of this double-edged knife – at what point does he become too progressive? For example, he might be pretty quick to forgive a person for calling a muggle-born a ‘mudblood’ if they show some remorse – even if it’s not his place, as a pureblood, to forgive such a thing. Dedalus would be the first to shake hands with a werewolf, the first to loudly point out and draw attention to the accomplishments of muggle-borns – but in a weird way, the last one to think to double-check with them if his ‘activism’ is even wanted.
But come on, does he really mean all that? At his core, Dedalus has very much grown up in a pureblood society, as much as he might’ve been a black sheep in a lot of ways. He’s trying very hard to unlearn those prejudiced ideas, but often they would still be very present in his initial reactions. In a way, his avid desire to always be almost excessively open-minded is indeed trying to make up for something i.e. his previous pureblood habits and values.
This is, naturally, also very connected to the privileges he already has. He is a white man from a pureblood family. Although his behaviour is a far cry from what would be expected of him, he, without a doubt, still retains a big part of those privileges, with his parents and I imagine fellow purebloods assuming the mentality that this is his ‘rebellious phase’ that he will soon grow out of. That said, I do think quite a few people might find his promiscuity quite distasteful – not only does he not hide his dalliances with wix and muggles alike but he almost seems to flaunt them.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? I’ve had so many ideas about Dedalus Diggle for such a long time, but unfortunately, I’ve never really had the chance to properly explore and develop him as a character. I think this rp will be a great fit both for the sort of dynamics I would like to explore with Dedalus and for what he has to bring to the table too. I think he’s got very particular energy about him and I also think it would mesh well with the general vibe of this rp.
PLOT DROP IDEAS (OPTIONAL): Generally speaking, Dedalus is always down for a good party and it would be very much in-character for him to host one at some point.
ANYTHING ELSE? –
EXTRA FOR NON-BIO CHARACTERS:
PAST:
Born as the sole heir to Delia and Samuel Diggle, Dedalus was no stranger to getting pampered while growing up. The newest, shiniest toys, the most expensive, highest quality clothes, pretty much everything he owned had some sort of a superlative attached to it. He revelled in it all, took to luxury like a fish to water, and was perfectly happy to play the role of the polite little heir as long as it got him what he wanted. “What a charming boy,” distant and not-so-distant cousins would exclaim and pinch his cheeks. “How well-behaved, how polite!”
Unfortunately, good manners lost all appeal by the time left for Hogwarts. It was just so boring, being nice and perfect all the time, and Dedalus began to push, trying to see how far he could go before his parents had enough. Apparently, quite far. It was incredible what Delia and Samuel – and, to an extent, their entire society – would excuse as ‘normal teenage boy affairs’.
With time, his clothes turned more extravagant though no less expensive. His circle of friends widened much beyond fellow purebloods and even included a muggle or two. His sexual and romantic experiments were practically public knowledge – his mother had nearly had a heart attack when one of her closest friends had once brought up his muggle-born boyfriend during brunch.
By the time he graduated, Dedalus had more or less solidified his status as the rebellious son of the Diggle family. So, he figured, might as well take it a step further. His beliefs had changed over the course of the past few years and Dedalus had no intention of hiding that. In fact, it was quite the opposite – he spoke up, often and loudly, about how muggle-borns weren’t treated fairly, about how werewolves were misunderstood, about how pureblood ideals were outdated and unfounded. It was easy to dismiss him, with his purple top hat and his fancy waistcoat, and his natural joie de vivre didn’t help his quest of being taken seriously either. But eventually, the right people took notice of him and the Order welcomed him.
PRESENT:
Currently, Dedalus spends his days one of three ways. If he is needed at the Order or something of particular importance is happening, he dedicates all his time helping. He’s still very eager and enthusiastic about the cause and while some might believe every day brings them closer to victory, Dedalus thinks it’s quite the opposite. But of course, he’d reassure people, every revolution has its troubles and complications. You lose some and then you win some, that’s just how life goes.
And if his services aren’t needed with the Order, he tinkers. He’s always had a quiet passion for tinkering – just about the only thing quiet about him, really – and he’s been slowly but surely perfecting his craft through trial and error. He has grand plans for his creations, from helping the Order to mass-producing some of them one day, and he’s perfectly happy to let his hobby consume all his free time.
Lastly, he doesn’t do this often although he probably should, but Dedalus is known to pay some attention to Dedalus Diggle’s Delights every now and then. Mostly, he just lets other people handle the different parts of the business, but occasionally, he takes some interest in it himself. On these days, he’d be manning the counter and taking every chance to chat more to his customers and get some valuable feedback.

Congratulations, SNOOZE! You have been accepted for the role of AMADEUS AVERY! Snooze, where do I begin with this app? When I created Amadeus I knew I wanted depth, but Snooze, you gave me so much more depth than I could have ever dreamed, I mean for goodness sake, you gave me an entire diagram! Your app genuinely captured me from beginning to end. From Amadeus’s relationship with his sister, Isolda, to his fascination with Ancient Runes, I was beyond blown away with how you managed to flesh Amadeus out into a fully actualized person--a living, breathing wizard. But what put this incredible app over-the-top, was your incredible second para sample. Despite bringing so much depth to Amadeus, you still manged to highlight his cruelty in a way so gut-wrenchingly perfect, know I will remain in complete awe for the rest of the night.

THE CHARACTER
desired role: Funny story! Amadeus was actually not my first choice. I was trying to figure out who to apply between Bishop, Odin, and Silvanus. I got my Amadeus inspiration from brainstorming for Bishop, because I was asking myself, what kind of dude is Bishop listening to? Then I got into a rabbit hole and tada! Amadeus app.
Here’s the thing: Amadeus is nothing like any character I’ve played/written before. I tend to be attracted to characters who stand in the middle, who are struggling with a decision, torn between two sides, who don’t want to check the option boxes presented to them and who seek to make their own paths. But Amadeus grabs my attention. He grows up with a solid foundation and he’s sure of himself. He knows exactly what he’s doing. What happens if things deviate from his plans? He may be smart but he’s only eighteen. There are things he doesn’t know and situations he hasn’t experienced. His relationship with Seneca is so, so intriguing because how in Merlin’s name can a person like him has feelings? I’m also a sucker for secret/forbidden romance, so there’s that. I want to let him suffer and make mistakes — I want to see his growth and how the war and certain secrets will change him. He’s a volatile little guy. Anyway, read on!
gender/pronouns: he/him; cis-male
extracurriculars: In addition to the pre-selected ones, Amadeus is also in Astronomy Club, Charms Club, and Dueling Club,
para sample:
Note: The first sample I have no specific year in mind — it could be Amadeus’ fifth, sixth, or seventh year. The second one takes place in the summer of Amadeus’ fifth year.
Also! To prevent any confusion, since I wrote the app non-chronologically, Isolda is Amadeus’ little sister. They are eight years apart. Isolda was kidnapped in the summer of Amadeus’ fifth year, and he was the one who tortured and killed her kidnapper afterward.
————————————
Amadeus dressed in the dark, glancing at a mirror that only outlined the dark silhouette of his body, as the sun has yet to rise this early in the day, and he broke the unbearable silence by humming quietly a tune whose origin he could not recall. His mind was still groggy from the ten-hour sleep he’d indulged in yesterday. Stifling a yawn, he snatched his wand from the nightstand and whispered a Reducio to his trunk.
When he was about to leave, the door to his room cracked open, letting in a sliver of darkness against the grey carpet of the floor — the hallways had always had a tendency to cloak itself in pitch-black shadows, even darker than his room. A small figure entered.
“Where ar’ya goin’,” Isolda muttered, her words slurred together because she certainly shouldn’t be up at this time. Amadeus frowned, turned on the chandelier light with a wandless wave, and kneeled down to see her face-to-face.
“Hogwarts, of course,” he replied. “I would’ve stopped by your room before I leave, you know that?”
She nodded, though she didn’t seem convinced. “Papa said the same when he was going to Turkey, but he didn’t.”
Amadeus sighed; his father may be a great man, but he never remembered his promises. He hoisted Isolda up and tucked his left arm underneath her legs so that her face was buried in his neck, then he walked to her room. His nerves tingled while going upstairs, but his parents, he thought, were still deeply asleep and thus unlikely to appear and shake their heads at his physical display of care. It was a shame that Isolda was born into a culture of rigidity. She was too emotional for her own good.
She was already sleeping when they arrived, so Amadeus laid her gently on her bed and pulled the blanket over her. He fished from his pocket a small set of papers, upon which he’d copied numerous alchemical formulas from Hogwarts’ library. Surely she would have a grand time looking through them until Christmas.
After that, he called for Milsy, their house-elf, to make sure that his notes to his parents would be delivered when they breakfasted later. Shrugging on a suit jacket and a hat, he left the Averys’ premises with his miniaturized trunk and apparated away.
Amadeus stopped by Hogsmeade Post Office to drop off several contract packages for his father, then he headed to Borgin and Burkes. The air was so foggy and saturated that he felt as if he’d just swam the Thames.
“The Tome of Cleopatra,” he demanded upon entering. The man working behind the faux-wood table pursed his lips and sniffed his rat-like nose twice, but Amadeus only needed to lift his eyebrows to kick the man into gear. Anyone who didn’t recognize him may as well sign a death warrant — a social one if he was in a good mood or a literal one if he wasn’t. While waiting, he eyed a pair of gilded cufflinks sitting in a glass box on a shelf. Diamonds decorated their surface, glittering brightly despite the dust that had settled on the box. They were certainly expensive and a fitting gift for someone he knew. He may have to lift some curses, but that shouldn’t be too hard. Small, probably unnoticeable, easily excusable price, perhaps …
No, no. Amadeus let the temptation slide. He should not be so careless — nor should he, for that matter, assume that the action would be appreciated. The man returned, slamming the thick book on the counter, and Amadeus felt dread creeping up his spine.
Merlin helps me, how can I go through this whole thing?
He slid the pouch of Galleon over and left with the tome. Seeing a beggar on the side of the road, he spat on the old woman’s face, then, for good measure, kicked her can of coins as far as possible. He wanted to make other people feel as miserable as he suddenly was.
The damn book. These damn feelings. This bloody muggy weather. What rights do they have to make him feel like a failure? Nothing! He was fucking Amadeus Avery! His throne sat on a wealth of power and money and he knew how to keep and better them. The economy of Wizarding Britain lay in his palm. The rich magic of this planet was his to command. He was not a failure.
Platform 9 ¾ was, as expected, empty, with only a couple of stragglers here and there and two shady individuals whispering near the ticket station. The Hogwarts train was here though, and its doors were unlocked, so Amadeus entered and claimed a cabin for himself. On the cabins of the Gryffindors he carved a mild curse of bad vision, created a few weeks ago, and hoped that it would kick in at opportune times during Quidditch matches, though there was a large chance that he guessed the cabin wrong or that the curse would have already petered out by then.
Satisfied with his task, he returned to his cabin and lay down on the bench, drifting off to a quick nap.

Trigger warning: Violence, gore, death, vomiting, torture
Money changed hands, and Amadeus stepped inside the cell where Isolda’s kidnapper was sleeping, resting, so peacefully that Amadeus felt his hatred burst out like a cobra springing to tear apart its prey. The man shifted on the stone floor. Amadeus gripped his wand tighter and thought, if you know what’s good for you, you will wake up now, a clumsy attempt at Legilimency, but he didn’t care for it had succeeded. The man’s eyes snapped open, deranged and red, and a half-smile tugged on the corner of his chapped, bloody lips.
“What’s this?” he spoke, voice hoarse and tinged with amusement. “Come to kill me?”
He stared down at the wretched piece of shit that didn’t deserve the mercy of the Dementors with his back straight, his voice steady, and he said, “Yes.”
The man mustn’t have expected a direct answer, as his expression faltered for a moment, but he went on, “Yeah, let’s do it then.”
“Not yet. Petrificus Totalus.”
The spell hit true. Amadeus shrugged off his suit jacket and set it on the floor; then he rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt, unhurried, for he had all the time in the world, all the while he flickered brief glances at the kidnapper to gauge his emotions, which had become more muted, more cautious, and, to Amadeus’ pleasure, more frightened.
Amadeus placed his wand on top of his rumpled suit, popped a collar button open, and kicked the man’s stomach hard. The man’s back slammed into the wall with a satisfying crack. Amadeus kicked again, this time to the man’s chest, and heard the pleasant sound of ribs breaking. He went on, and on, and on, lost in the vesuvian rage, in the rhythm of grunts and the thudding of soft flesh. At one point Amadeus straddled the man’s body and started punching his face, aiming everywhere he could—cheeks, nose, mouth, forehead.
“You think you can insult an Avery and leave unscathed?” Amadeus shouted, panting from the physical exertion. “You touched my sister, filthy mudblood, and I will make you fucking beg to be killed by the end of this.”
He stood up and backed away a few steps, grabbing his wand.
“Petrificus Totalus, Petrificus Totalus, Petrificus Totalus,” Amadeus intoned.
The man’s muscles seized tighter, tighter, until he was shaking and sweating and the veins in his neck were bulging, until several loud snaps rang loud, the sounds of ruptured muscles and tendons, and Amadeus felt the delicious, ugly glee in him morph into a grin. He released the spell, but the man remained in the same position, cursing, pleading, tearing up.
“Crucio.” A roar of pain; the man’s body arched up.
“Crucio.” Nonsensical babbling for mercy; empty promises to do whatever the Averys wanted. Too late.
“Crucio.” Eyes rolled up; a drooling mess; broken whimpers.
Amadeus paused. He breathed. He calmed his pounding heart. He’d gone further than he had ever been, and his fingers were trembling, maybe from the magical drain, maybe from the bleeding knuckles, maybe from the horror that was beginning to overcome his fury. But—Isolda, he thought. The rational part of his mind was yelling at him to stop, retreat, recalculate, for he, frankly, didn’t know where this was heading toward, didn’t know if he would jump off that cliff of indecision and into the chasm of immorality, passing the point of no return, staining his hand with the blood of another.
So Amadeus delayed. He transfigured all his buttons to thin needles, then he crouched down and held up the man’s hand. The hand that dared take away Isolda.
“Ennervate.”
This was the part he would not remember, the part that would appear blank were he to search for it:
Amadeus lined a needle to the tip of the man’s index finger and pushed it in steadily, watching life, awakened by pain, returning to the man’s dull eyes. The man screamed, wildly, uncontrollably, all his self-control gone. Amadeus kept on going: middle finger, ring finger, pinky. Deaf to the howling, he repeated the procedure to the other hand, half of his mind a far distance from reality while the other half drew on courage from hatred. Afterward, Amadeus stabbed the man in the stomach with the knife in his pants’ pocket, once for every hour Isolda was missing, methodically, as if hypnotized. He switched to the thighs once he ran out of space.
Finished, Amadeus moved back and took stock of his handiwork. The darkness of night hid the worst parts, but somehow he could still make out every bruise, every cut, and every bit of blood that littered the man’s body. The man yet lived.
“Merlin,” he murmured.
He pointed his wand to the man again.
You’ve got to mean it.
He’d done this before, a dozen times, but only to kill insects or to pretend to kill Isolda’s monster in the closet, never to a human.
You’ve got to be calm. I don’t care if you’re in the middle of a five-way duel, find that moment of silence in your head.
He reminded himself that this—this was worth it. For Isolda. For the Averys name. Or, if not, to end the man’s suffering.
Aim, draw on your willingness to kill, and be swift. Like snapping your fingers.
“Avada Kedavra.”
A flash of green, and then, the end.
He put on his suit jacket and cast an illusion over himself. Money changed hands, from a quivering grip to a hesitant palm, and Amadeus apparated back home. All of the lights were off, and he stumbled down the hallway, noisily, but only one elf appeared. She asked what he needed, but he didn’t reply, so she followed him as he opened the door to his room, crossed the bed, pushed forward the bathroom’s door, planted his hands on the sides of the sink, looked at himself in the mirror, and saw, as reality closed down on him like a strangling noose, the wretched face of a murderer and the wide, panicked eyes of a teenager yet to be of age.
He threw up. For a while.
“Milsy,” he called after his stomach stopped churning, throat still burning from the acid and nose thick with the scent of vomit.
“Yes, Master?”
“Get me some warm milk.”
“With three spoons of honey, Master?”
“Yeah.”
The house elf went away.
Now facing his reflection alone, Amadeus glared at himself, as if disgusted with his inability to contain the appearance of shock, and he said, “It was a good kill.”
Then, again, with more bravo, “It was a good kill. Your first one too.” He paused. “You need to learn that sooner or later, so it doesn’t matter either way. Father did it when he was eighteen. Mother when she was twenty. Everyone does it.” Not to mention it was a befitting punishment for taking away Isolda for thirty six hours.
And so he kept on going, muttering to himself, repeating what he’d said, making it a mantra, making it his truth, a truth that he, perhaps, could live with.

Disclaimer: I’m 100% down to change some details of what I wrote below, since a lot of them involve my cursory interpretation of the rest of the characters. Also, I try to explore his relationship with Seneca as much as possible, but I don’t want to delve too deep until I talk to Seneca’s writer & discuss some details.
BIOGRAPHY (Intro, Hogwarts, Tom Riddle): An imaginary piece of writing by Amadeus, briefly exploring his past and his years at Hogwarts. Note that this represents his perception of the world around him and does not necessarily reflect reality, especially when he boasts about his accomplishments. This is how he wants people to remember him.
LETTERS I WILL NOT SEND, WORDS I WILL NEVER SAY: Short, non-chronological pieces that Amadeus “writes” (the exact mechanics are explained in PERSONALITY section) and burns as an outlet for his emotions for Seneca. Amadeus only pens these when he’s overwhelmed with feelings, so they may seem excessively sentimental.
PERSONALITY: Self-explanatory.
HEADCANONS: Things that I can’t fit into other categories. This part may seem really messy because I was jotting down thoughts as I go, so I apologize in advance!
THE DIAGRAM: Because I got lost in Amadeus’ complexity. It’s in a separate photo submission.

BIOGRAPHY
Introduction
August 15, 1942
As the heir of the Illustrious and Ancient House of Avery, it is traditional that I record the events in my life for future generations to peruse. For this is merely the first draft, I shall save the typical long-winded introduction for later and get started on the story.
My parents are a good match, perhaps the best there has ever been in the Avery line. My mother is Calista Avery, the Averys’ Matriarch, and my father Sivert Solberg, heir to the prominent Solberg line in Norway. They met during the Autumn Ball of Marseilles and was engaged three years later, in 1925. Their marriage was a winter one, brilliant and luxurious with six hundred and eighty two guests from Britain and Norway. Sivert adopted our name as per traditions of marrying a Head of a family, and I was born about two years later in the summer solstice of 1928. I should have had two sisters, but my mother miscarried once, so now it is only me and little Isolda, who is eight years younger than me. She will be attending Beauxbaton three years from now, and we are, naturally, very excited, for our private tutors have affirmed that she has talents in Alchemy. I was jealous of her for a while — Alchemy, after all, is the field of famous wizards such as Nicholas Flamel and Albus Dumbledore. But I later realized that her work would bring her to the shadows, to the edge of the crowd, while I, heir and a genius myself of the Dark Arts, would have the spotlight. I have stopped my unwarranted competition with her since and have fully devoted to train her to be worthy of the Avery name.
But enough about my sister. My name is Amadeus Avery. I have no middle name, for I am in the shadow of no one but myself. The Avery name is powerful, the Avery blood more so, and I plan to be the greatest Avery to have ever lived. I was born June 22, 1928, a day brimming with magic and, coincidentally, also the birthdate of the 5th Head of the Averys. My birth was a hard one, for I was my mother’s first child, twelve hours in total, a sign, apparently, for my stubbornness and determination. I grew up in a household of emotional detachment — not apathy, I must clarify, as I always know that my parents love and want the best for me. Public and private gestures of affection are much frowned upon, and we show our care through indirect means — material goods and gifts, the sharing of secrets and inner thoughts, criticisms and advice (how else could we maintain the image of a perfect family?).
My parents have had rough times — the aftermath of the first miscarriage when I was six, for example. My mother shut herself from my father, and he, frustrated with the isolation, left the country for two weeks, during which he had a tryst with some Ukranian lover. My mother, too, went out more frequently to meet with, I had guessed, her own lover, and sometimes my tutors and I would be the only inhabitants of the house. The Lestranges and the Rowles had had a grand time with the gossip then, I remember. At some point, I’m not sure when, my parents properly talked with each other (thanks to my uncle’s insistent; I have mentioned, of course, that my family does not explicitly express emotions) and the issue was resolved. Their connection and loyalty, strangely, only grew stronger. Perhaps the bad streak in their history motivated them to shine even brighter than before. Isolda’s birth when I was eight smoothed over the last of the scars, though I knew they could never forget their first daughter, Leona Avery.
Up until six I was showered with toys and magical trinkets, with bedtime stories of the founding of the Dark Arts and the beginnings of the Averys in the Fertile Crescent. We are part of the Sacred Twenty Eight, but such title is inconsequential, for the Avery name has, for the better part of the Wizarding World’s history, though not without ups and downs, garnered much reverence from the general populace due to our natural inclination to the Arts of Old Magic, recently defined as the Dark Arts by the more ignorant. My first accidental magic occurred when I was seven months old — hunger had compelled me to call upon all the chocolate cakes reserved for a party later — and after I learned to speak, my paternal granduncle, the former Norwegian Head of Law Enforcement, came down to teach me the basics of manipulating magic. Afterward tutors taught me, only the best in London, among which are a former assistant to Nicholas Flamel, Vice Chief of the Auror Department (my maternal aunt), a descendant of the Gamp family, and the reigning Champion of European Dueling Tournament (though she only started when I got into Hogwarts).
I mastered the curriculum of Hogwarts’ first year when I was nine, and after that I branch sideways instead of forward (it was later explained that my physical body needed to catch up with my magical prowess; balance and harmony are important in the making of a strong wizard like me). We possess two libraries worth of tomes — one in the current Averys mansion and one in our ancestral home in Babylon (formerly known as the Babylonian Society of Ancient Magic). Books are not my forte, as I learned better with practical demonstration, but they nonetheless are an incredible source of knowledge. I delve into the arts of occlumency, legilimency, necromancy, ritual magic, blood magic, bone magic, runic magic, demonology (rather too obscure and unstable to be feasible, sadly), various branches of hex- and spellcrafting, ancient Egyptian and Roman curses (those people have a fascinating imagination, I must admit), and the lighter sides of magic such as arithmancy and charms. When I entered Hogwarts, I was not a master in any of those fields, but I knew enough to be one of the top students, and my sheer power was often enough to overwhelm my opponents.
Hogwarts
I have been aware of pureblood politics since I could read, but to be thrown into such a large body of students was a nasty surprise. Slytherin, the microcosm of pureblood society, was filled with intricate schemes and power plays between noble houses, a network that I at first found it hard to engage in, for the Averys had never been terribly friendly or popular. We stand above everyone else — because we are, indeed, better than most — and the purebloods, with their fragile egos, often take offense to our supposed arrogance. It is the Lestranges, the Rowles, the Malfoys, the Blacks, among many others, whose voices are heard and frequently recited. I struggled for two years to gain a footing in their network to no avail until I realized that I did not have to do so. I am Amadeus Avery, and I need not their acknowledgement. As soon as I stopped participating in their games, I became respected. They value me because they understand my importance, because they see my influence despite not being the top of their food chain. And so I gained my footing in pureblood society by refusing to acknowledge its presence. My parents were proud, and that Christmas they gifted me a brilliant case of jewelry stones for me to practice my blood curses on.
In school I focus on the Dark Arts, Charms, and Ancient Runes — the rest are unimportant to me, though I maintain respectable grades. I am far too busy with my projects nfor silly creatures or, Merlin forbid, divination. Astronomy is decent, but the subject is impossible to enjoy because the Blacks are so disgustingly vocal about their naming traditions. The teachers are merely satisfactory — none of them seemed to appreciate my talents in Dark Magic. Their responses typically fall into two camps, wariness or jealousy. Horace Slughorn is slightly better than most, as his Slug Club provides immense networking opportunities for like-minded individuals. It is where I developed a friendship with Tom Riddle — rest assured that I shall expand upon this remarkable person later.
I discovered the joy of inter-house rivalry in my second year when I became Beater for Slytherin’s Quidditch Team. Ivon Blaine was particularly entertaining. He’d always been weaker than me in all aspects — save for some lucky instances on the Quidditch field, of course — and I wholeheartedly enjoyed taunting him. He’d always been so easy to rile up, so easy to manipulate, and I, who had recently discovered my sharp tongue, was only too thrilled to test it on him. Gryffindors have always been so embarrassingly brash and physical — it is absolutely nauseating how they publicly display their affections and weaknesses out in the open air, as if they are desperate to be hurt. The duels were mere exercises to me, though they had the side benefit of elevating my reputation. Ivon became predictable as time passed, however, and I stopped enjoying our little games. I had better things to worry about — Grindelwald, for instance, and Tom Riddle’s vision. Though riling up Ivon no longer brought me as much joy as it did before, I am still rather entertained by his reaction whenever I speak to him.
Bishop Vermeer is a Ravenclaw that I respect. I met him during my fourth year while preparing for my OWLs and was impressed with his intelligence, which rivaled mine. He listens more than he speaks, but his interjections are always insightful and helpful to me, and so I come back to him as a friend, always, for his ears. We work on projects too, mine more often than his. I think he is too smart for his own good — he is never swayed by my honey sweet words, even though he sometimes pretends he does, and I am both disappointed and pleased by that. Had he been more weak-willed, I doubt I would have respected him as much as I am now. It is a shame that he is not more zealous about Riddle’s cause, but when the time comes, I have faith that he will side with us. If not — well, I would not wish to face him, out of respect for our companionship.
Tom Riddle
He was a bit of an underdog, I must admit, and him being quite mum about his origins except when absolutely necessary (at least during his first year at Hogwarts) hinted at his blood status, though now I dare not think about it, for his legilimency skills far outstrip my occlumency. His cause gripped my attention the moment he mentioned it in the Slytherin common room, and I remember being vocally supportive of it, for, with the current politics surrounding Grindelwald, I recognized immediately that his ideas would bring us far. Tom Riddle is a revolutionary who will usher in an era of greatness, of pureblood culture and appreciation for real magic, not the childish stuff that Hogwarts teaches. I intend to be at the forefront of this movement alongside Riddle. I will make a name for myself.
You may wonder why I am not the leader. First of all, I have no wish to make an enemy of Riddle — we may match in dueling prowess, but he is, I am reluctant to admit, hard to outwit. Furthermore, he has a better hold on the purebloods than I do — as I have said before, the Avery name is respectable, not popular. Riddle has a way with words that is gently persuasive and malleable. He knows how to push buttons. Let him lead the movement and I be his loyal soldier. The position is prestigious enough that I can contend with not being the top. His ego and mine sometimes clash, but I try to keep to his good side more often than not. We share details of our projects, though he tends to work alone rather than in a group, and he absolutely detests me offering help.
I suppose I shall mark this as the temporary end of this biography. I intend to update this as frequently as possible.

LETTERS I WILL NOT SEND,
WORDS I WILL NEVER SAY
My grandmother, a famous jewelry collector in her nineties, gave my father a ring of blue zircon, who, in turn, passed it down to me. It sat in a drawer back in my room, only to be worn during Christmas balls. The ring was thick and ostentatiously ornamental, heavy on my middle finger every time I wore it, and I complained all the time until I was five and learnt the art of formal presentation. The ring is a sign of power and a reminder that my parents are of two famous lines, and it often sat next to the Avery heirloom ring on my index finger, glinting, mesmerizingly blue, always distracting me when light shines at the right angle. Tonight, when I saw you, when I looked into your eyes, I thought of my ring, and I wished, for but a brief millisecond, that we were better, that I was better, so that I might, perhaps, be brave enough to —
[ … ]
I did not see you today, but I was frightened for you, for us. Charms class ended early, so I was traversing the hallway, sketching in my head a new design of some anti-apparition wards, when thoughts of you filled my mind. I remembered our kiss yesterday even though I tried not to — at least, not until I was safe in my dorm. I couldn’t help smiling. Then, Tom Riddle rounded the corner, and I froze. My heart dropped, my mind emptied, and I willed my face to express something close to pleasant surprise. You cannot imagine how fearful I was. It isn’t close to my fright for Isolda when she was kidnapped, but it is certainly high up the list. Had he been searching in my mind, we would have been discovered, and the fallout, though may seem inconsequential at first, could only be catastrophic to me. Everything would have been ruined, and the choices I would have to make were unimaginable. But he wasn’t searching, thank Merlin, and I would have known if he was. I am entertaining the thought of avoiding you for a while until I could calm down. I know I may hurt you, but you must understand that I have to control myself, I have to set boundaries, or else I —
[ … ]
You were worried today, and I am not sure why. Had you been anyone else, I would have attempted to persuade an answer out of you, but strangely I complied with your request not to pry. You have no idea how much control you have over me, and I am frightened. I cannot see our future, though I must admit that I always strived not to think about our future; there are too many complications there that I cannot resolve, and I cannot bear the thought of you absent from my life, much as I loathe to admit such weakness in myself. I want to enjoy the present and only the present. Sometimes, you are the only outlet for my emotions. Sometimes, we are strangers. Sometimes, you scare me to death with your glances and your smiles and your kisses. I have thought about breaking things cleanly between us, because the stakes are becoming higher and higher, and yet I never manage to do so, because to break cleanly is to admit that there is something to break, and because I simply —
[ … ]
Sometimes I believe my parents are clay figurines carved with human features and charmed to be alive. Their expressions are stiff, their emotions strained, and they always seem most at ease with blank countenances and frigid glances, with careless words and calculated touches. I remember vividly that they barely touched Isolda when she was returned to us, a mess of a child, eyes red and dress muddied. My mother touched her hair, and I could not tell if she was too frightened to do more or if she simply detested public displays of affections so much that she would ignore her own child’s trauma. I was the one who scooped Isolda up in my arms and soothed her cries. I tried my best anyway. No one has ever done such things to me. You may wonder why I am telling this story, and here is why: I noticed that you were distraught today. You were hurt, and I hurt for you, but I could do nothing to alleviate whatever burden you were shouldering. I was too busy struggling with my confusion toward you. I do not know what to do. I do not know what we are. I asked myself how I could grow to care for you when I was not built for such emotions, how I could be in —
[ … ]
For a moment I feared that our secret was exposed, but we both performed well the role of casual acquaintances in class today, don’t you think? I am relieved that despite certain progress in our … companionship, we are still capable of maintaining a facade of normality in front of the masses. Tom Riddle, I think, suspects I am hiding something, but he cares far too much for his pet project to figure out. He’s never been too invested in our personal lives. If worse comes to worst, I could still tell him about my projects on developing possible resistance to the Killing Curse and mass-producing Inferi through a variant of a demonic rune design, neither of which, unfortunately, are straightforward enough for practical use, but they certainly will satisfy his curiosity. On a side note, I wish so fervently that I could buy you a better gift for your birthday, but alas, I could only lie about my expenses for so much, and the size of your gift could not be too large. My wish manifested in my dream three nights ago. In it we were happy, had been for months, and I, on that brilliant winter day, like a bloody muggle, horrifyingly, was on my knees —

PERSONALITY:
Amadeus is …
Arrogant: He believes himself to be better than everyone else due to his magical might and his bloodline tracing back to the beginning of civilization.
His arrogance doesn’t quite manifest in speech (like, say, Draco Malfoy) but in his body language, his stance, the way he looks at people, the inflections of his tone. Taken alone, his words may seem casual and respectful, but coming from him they could be the worst insults.
He doesn’t care that people are weaker because of their circumstances. He cares that people are weaker than him, period.
Hypocritical: He criticizes the actions and personalities of other people but does not admit to himself that he sometimes shares those characteristics and does similar things.
For example: He thinks displays of affection are a weakness, yet he treasures his moments with Seneca and loves Isolda. He claims that he doesn’t care about Venus’ (or Odette’s) popularity, but he is actually jealous that they, along with the Lestranges and Rowles, have the ability to influence a crowd. He preaches that you reap what you sow, but when confronted with the consequences of his actions, he will never admit his faults. He believes Olive Hornby ridiculous for being contradictory in her actions (a guilt-ridden bully), but he is a creature of dichotomy also.
Judgemental: The number of people he respects or gets along with is small due to his tendency to either be critical of their differences (compared to him) or be jealous of what they have that he doesn’t.
Obstinate & Ambitious: Once he has a goal, he will never budge from it — for instance, nothing can shake him from his desire to be the best Avery there ever has been. It is difficult to change his mind about anything, including first impressions of people and ideologies.
Cruel: He is cruel not because he wishes to hurt (unless under certain circumstances) but because he is naturally unsympathetic to most.
But he is also …
Passionate: Though he is raised and tries to be otherwise, Amadeus is a passion-driven individual.
He loves magic and the Dark Arts, loves its instability and its potential for good and bad, and he delves into research with a furious fervor, never stopping, always wanting to have more, know more, always wishing to break the limits and go beyond what is known.
His jealousy comes easily. Amadeus grows up thinking he has the world in his palm, so he’s jealous of anyone who seems to be better than he.
He absolutely adores Isolda, at least once he gets over his jealousy, and he showers her with love and affection to a level that would be frowned upon by his parents had they known. He thinks she is too soft to be an Avery — she was born to be compassionate, and the rigidity of his parents hurts her, so he will lessen that pain for her in any way possible.
As an unintentional consequence of his love for Isolda, he also comes to like her pet hippogriff (a species of smaller size, fitting to live in a mansion) despite his vocal denouncement of anything creature-related.
He has deep affections for Seneca Montague — love, perhaps, though he’d never admit it — and despite his best efforts to contain these feelings, they are too much to keep inside, always threatening to spill out, and he has to compartmentalize his feelings, sometimes unsuccessfully.
Clever: He has a different brand of intelligence, but his mind, full of knowledge, always proves to be useful.
He may not be the best strategist, but he can process information incredibly fast and skip to a conclusion in lightning-speed. He works best under pressure and during duels.
He has an instinctive grasp on spellcrafting and runic magic, though he tends to lean toward the latter. He’s like a genius computer programmer or an engineer. He knows the pieces and he knows how to put them together; when they don’t work, he could easily tweak a bit here and fix a bit there to craft better rune diagrams for long-term curses and charms.
He cannot, for the life of him, read theories, but after a single demonstration, he can understand even the most complex alchemical concept
He figures out a way to compartmentalize his feelings for Seneca so he will not have to acknowledge them:
In the moments he shares with Seneca, he will not think of the repercussions. When he is not with Seneca, he will try to put him out of mind.
Sometimes when he feels too much, he would put his feelings on paper — using a quill charmed to inscribe his thoughts — and then he’d burn it. The reasoning is that if he makes it physical and then destroys it, whatever that is bothering him would stop existing. He doesn’t read these paragraphs, nor does he physically write them, so it’s easier for him to deny his feelings.
A downside to this compartmentalizing method is that his mood can swing widely from hour to hour, and often he wonders if it would someday break him. It works for now, so he doesn’t care much.
He is proud of …
His dueling skills: He has lost to no one except Tom Riddle and occasionally some members of the Harbingers & Liberation.
His runic diagrams: They are his own creations, and he is proud and thrilled to see them in action, no matter how destructive they could be.
His knowledge: He is well-versed in the rules of Wizarding economy and pureblood politics, and he was taught to keep up the prominence of the Avery name. Magically, his knowledge is shallow but extensive, and he frequently reads (or tries to read) to gain more information.
The murder of Isolda’s kidnapper: He tortured her kidnapper before finally killing him. It was his first kill and first usage of the Killing Curse on a human at the age of fifteen. Deep down, he’s horrified at his actions, but he successfully convinces himself to be proud because he could never admit that he feels guilty — a feeling that does not exist in the Avery household.
And he hates …
Nothing, which is what he would’ve said to himself, but in reality:
The isolation of the Averys: He envies those who can participate in pureblood politics and loathes that he is often pushed to the sides. He may pretend that he doesn’t need them, that the Averys doesn’t need to be a participant, but he is, nonetheless, lonely, because he doesn’t belong properly in any community.
The rigidity of his parents: He thinks his parents are too stringent with their emotions and believes Isolda is harmed because of that. Subconsciously, he blames his parents for his cruel nature and doesn’t want Isolda to live through his loveless childhood.
A subject that belongs in neither categories is his relationship with Seneca, which he loves and hates at the same time. He likes Seneca beyond the boundaries of friendship, but he hates defining what they are. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he’s aware that he’s making a mistake, perhaps the best mistake in his life, and he’s waiting for the inescapable fallout.
HEADCANONS
What’s his attitude toward muggles?
He believes in all of the stereotypes: they are dirty, primitive, stupid, and ignorant of the true beauty of magic.
He’s actually really into classical music (once he finds out about it through William Brown, unintentionally) but he wasn’t aware that most of the composers are muggles
What does he do in his free time?
Runic projects; finance planning/investment with his father; whatever Riddle wants him to do at that time;
His relationship with Ogden:
Good relationship until the end of 6th year when Ogden approaches Amadeus about an apprenticeship in Ancient Runes. Anyone would’ve been ecstatic, as it’s a rare occasion that a sixth year would be offered such opportunity, but Amadeus was angry. He couldn’t believe Ogden would offer him such a lowly career option, and he has a sneaking suspicion that Ogden wants to supervise his work more closely to prevent him from “falling” to the darker (and purer, in his opinion) forms of magic. Their relationship has been tentative since then.
His runic experimental room arguably shows more aspects of him than his dorm, which is often under the scrutiny of his dorm mates
Amadeus stopped bullying Ivon in the aftermath of Isolda’s kidnap. The taste of real violence and death has dulled the entertaining value of sharp words and silly duels. Amadeus turns his focus to bigger targets: necromancy, darker runes, deeper & more ruthless manipulations using money that will keep him in power. He’s also more focused on Riddle’s cause, and his runes projects also take up more of his times.
Wisdom and Power, to Amadeus, go so hand-in-hand that he’s never thought that it is more Ravenclaw than Slytherin. A trait he shares with Gryffindor is how passionate he can be, though no one really knows this except Bishop & Seneca. People do know that he hates easily though.
Motto for anything too sentimental is: React first, break down later
He was taught that “Power amazes, but money drives the world.” Despite this, he’s more attracted to raw power than wealth.
Doesn’t do well with criticism, especially from people he doesn’t care about.
Will initiate duels when called for.
He can convince himself to believe in false things.
Physical marking:
A horizontal scar on the side of his neck: A kitchen house-elf once went insane and injured him as a kid with a knife; said house-elf was killed but the knife was cursed so the scar doesn’t go away. Amadeus always illusioned it or wear clothes with collars.
Amadeus doesn’t quite remember this, but the incident is one of the few times that both of his parents touch him — keeping the wound close, healing, using salve, but he was too out of it to recall properly. He was seven.
Doesn’t have a fear of knives, but if someone is to lay the blade of one on his skin, that will kick in his fight-or-flight response and (depending on the situation) he will react.
Fashion:
He’s big on fashion
Style: Expensive, trendy but not gaudy, wear accessories to show off wealth (cufflinks, rings, modified ties, shoes, etc.)
Boggart:
Its form varies; but the two forms he’s faced is the burning of the Averys mansion (signifying the end of the line, which would be his fault) and the body of Isolda (recalling the kidnap incident).
Wand: spruce wood, 12-inch, dragon heartstring core
His spells are powerful and flamboyant, often attracting the attention of other people.
Amadeus has a sweet tooth.
He also cannot hold his liquor. He’s a touchy drunk.
He produced a Patronus once, during his fifth year, a hippogriff, unsurprisingly, but he hasn’t tried again since he killed Isolda’s kidnapper, telling himself it is unnecessary while actually thinking that he can’t do light magic now that he’s killed a wizard.
House Elf Treatment:
The Averys aren’t cruel but they do think that the elves are beneath their notice. The Averys, powerful as they are, does know that house-elf betrayals can be destructive, so they strive to inspire loyalty
He’s got no sense of self-preservation:
Because he thinks he’s invincible. Also he gets excited when faced with a challenge.
Likes to write but dislikes reading:
He actually doesn’t hate reading. He just has a very specific taste for a writing style & anything that doesn’t fit the bill makes him bored. He especially hates translations because they’re so dry.
He’s bad at defense magic - he likes to be on the offense & doesn’t guard himself much
The three P’s of Amadeus: Proud, Powerful, Private
He loves to low-key taunt people he dislikes, especially back when he was still harassing Ivon, and he lets his tongue lose when he’s angry. He also speaks his mind when he’s in the company of people he trusts.
He’s very ignorant when it comes to his emotions. This is by choice, not because he’s dense.
He (lowkey) admires Dumbledore because of how powerful the man is, and he secretly wishes that they are on better terms. Their ideologies, unfortunately, create a barrier between them.
To him, wisdom is …
Tom Riddle: knowing how to play the field, how to manipulate, how to be in the spotlight and claim it for yourself
Knowing everything - hence his attempt to branch out laterally
Naively, he also thinks being wise means never makes a mistake
Amadeus is verbose in writing but succinct in speech, touch-starved yet would never initiate body contact:
The Averys household is emotionally distant but not apathetic. Amadeus grows up understanding that display of affection is a bad thing, but sometimes he mistakes this with emotions are bad. His parents’ love for him is measured with material goods—their meanings, their quantities, their qualities—though of course, their meanings are exceedingly easy to misinterpret. Writing is an outlet of emotions in the Averys household—letters to their parents when they are abroad & when Amadeus is in school, notes delivered by house-elves (their mansion is very big)—thus, Amadeus shows himself more in writing, though it always seems to be otherwise. He masks his sentiments with pureblood politeness on paper, and only those close to him (his family) could read between the lines and understand.
He was taught the concept of formal presentation when he was six and learned how to check his speech. He became more succinct and direct or persuasive and round-about when needed.
Half of the time what he says isn’t really what he thinks/feels, but he has a habit of convincing himself that what he says is always the truth, so it becomes a falsehood in him that he never notices, and from this born his hypocrisy.
The Averys household frowns upon body contact except when absolutely necessary, and so Amadeus grows up, without noticing, touch-starved. He’s hyper-aware of the distance he puts between him and other people and the casual touches he received. He, therefore, treasures his moments with Seneca, but also are scared of them, of the body contact, of physical displays of affection that he knows nothing about. He’s always hesitant, testing the boundaries, reading the signs (sometimes over-analyzing them), always so scared that he’ll fuck up somehow.
His Runes Experiment Room:
Same wing that houses the Ancient Runes classrooms.
Approximately U-shaped
Left room is for the actual experiment, connected by a hallway to a sort of “office” on the right where all the theories/writings occurred.
Office:
Big blackboard filled with maths & diagrams
Big wooden desks filled with papers, very messy, on top of which sat …
Letters sent by Isolda
A pot of talking cactus, sent by Isolda
Lots of candy boxes ordered from Hogsmeade or sent by his mother
Two bookshelves overfilled with books; papers; chalks of different materials; boxes of preserved animal blood; rulers & measurement devices; bowls of different parts of different animals scattered around; a locked metal chest of rarer materials
When there are visitors, he puts everything personal to him in a trunk in the corner of the room
Two sofas for guests
Experimental room:
Kept clean & in pristine condition
Two Parts
A square part of the room in the middle, sectioned off by magic & physical means (eg: salt, powdered thestral fur, etc.):
This is where the floor diagrams occur, for more complex projects. Experiments here are frequently unstable.
The rest: There’s a trunk of gemstones + other objects for blood curses; there’s a long desk lining the wall with tools for carving, burning, melting, writing, and holding on top
He usually levitates the object or holds them by physical means as he carves runes on it
The long table is also used to deconstruct runes done by other people
People who have seen this room: Riddle, Bishop, Seneca, Ogden
Attitude toward teachers:
Ogden: already mentioned
Dumbledore: professional admiration. Amadeus secretly idolizes him because Dumbledore is too Badass not to, though he thinks Dumbledore is too soft on Muggleborns.
Rakepick: doesn’t like since she likes the Gryffs
Edgecomb: likes her tattoos; on good terms because Isolda will be going to Beauxbatons; tries too hard not to ask her questions about schooling & dorming over there
Dippet: nice man, not useful but it helps that he likes Riddle
Fairbanks: likes her for various reasons. She went to Durmstrang is number one. She’s intense and, to him, she has a real appreciation for the true nature of magic. That she’s a Herbology professor irks him — he wishes she was teaching Dark Arts instead. Imagine the kind of spells she would’ve taught!
Isadora: annoying because of the homework
William Brown: muggle lover, ew
Sylvia: doesn’t care
Astrid: doesn’t like divination because he’s not a seer, but on good terms with Astrid because of her views
Binns: doesn’t care, except when his lessons mentions something related to the Averys
In summary: Amadeus is an ambitious individual who grew up in a distant household. He experiences lots of emotions despite being groomed not to. He is smart about many things except himself. He has the ability to rationalize his feelings but chooses to ignore them. He can exert great control over himself and he chooses his words carefully. He is proud and powerful and knows exactly what he wants — but what he wants may not be what he needs in the end.

Personality Test – The Story Behind Your Date Of Birth
What is the story behind your birth date?
Once you have discovered your Birth Number/ Personality Number. Put your number in as a comment below for us to know who we are.
Have fun! Our birth dates describes who we are, what we are good at and what our inborn abilities are. It also points to what we have to learn and the challenges we are facing.
To figure out your Birth Number, add all the numbers in the Birth Date together, like in the example, until there is only one digit. A Birth Number does not prevent you from being anything you want to be; it will just color your choice differently and give you a little insight.
Example:
March 20, 1950
3 + 20 + 1950 = 1973
1 + 9 + 7 + 3 = 20
2 + 0 = 2
Keep going until you end up with a single digit number. 2 is the Birth Number to read for the birth date in the example.

I hold with those who favor fire. (Any!verse)
@djinmer4 @dannybagpipesarecalling @discordsworld @discordsworld @sailorstar9 @look-ma-no-hands336
N/A: Zaorva is rolling here lol. This was an idea I held for some time, Zaorva punishing more people.
Hank Pym is one of the brilliant minds of all generation. Tony Stark is not so remarkable if comparing with ½ of Pym´s inventions, yes, Hank Pym is a great mind and that is something no one can ever refute. Amadeus Cho and Kurt Waggoner are linked as the next Hank Pym and the two of them can see this as a compliment, yet, prefer to be just Amadeus Cho and Kurt Waggoner.
Yes, Hank is brilliant, but no amount of Q.I can hide the fact he beats on his face constantly or the pressure he puts on his only daughter, Hope needs to be perfect or else…
Hank Pym is far brilliant and thought to join Zaorva´s cult is the way to go. In reality, he joined to show the light of his own work, however, this quickly dies as Hank saw the innovations and technology they use. The Zaorva´s cult created a device to clean water to Flint, US and São Paulo, Brazil and it was something Hank never thought in making.
Hank is furious as of how come Zaorva can have this technology, no, why those people hide behind this fake god when they can be gods themselves?
“Lady Zaorva is real, you make an oath to her and you should respect the said oath, now, please, be mindful of your own mind and cut the envy or else you´ll be cut” Bucky and Elektra repat in unions as they are helping the victims of a tornado.
“What? Stop with this talk of Zaorva, she´s not real…Your technology, however, is very real” Hank speaks and before Elektra could speak anything, Hank saw himself in a different location. A blue rose garden.
A woman with freckles and a yellow dress(the symbol of the X-men is visible, oh great what those annoying muties want? is the only thing Hank can think) is not blinking as her blue tentacles wrapped his waist and a soft chuckle escapes her lips as the man is hurling in pain “Am I real enough?”
“Who are you?” Hank asked knowing, somehow, that was a dumb question.
“I´m the creation itself…Zaorva and I´m very disappointed” Now she puts one of her tentacles on her lips as faking thinking something “no, I´m not disappointed, I´m glad, I always want an excuse to kill you” Zaorva smiles again as her Kitty Pryde´s mask(her human body for this dimension) is cracking “you are very annoying and I think I´m making a huge favour in getting rid of you”
Hank Pym saw his gadget melt and some turn into dust. The man can only see fit for someone to be that intelligent to be devoured by the gods.
Zoarva laughs manically now. “Wow, you´re even more pathetic in this timeline, you think your intelligence impress me, bitch, please” the tentacles that are holding Hank brutally planted the man on the ground “no, I have something better in mind”
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Hank´s wife was called as the police finally locate her missing husband. Hank is in a hospital, in New Mexico, without name in a vegetative state. According to the doctor Romares Hank Pym lost good part of his brain´s activity and needs machines to breathe, urinate and even to make his heart beating.
“But…somehow he´s still there, he can blink one or two times, but the scans says his brain did suffer damage too serious he can´t even lift or think in lifting his pinky finger”
Hank´s wife looks at Hank blinking two times as the nurse help with the urination.
“How that happen?”
“I…don´t know, even vegetative have some control on the brain activity, but here….is almost like he has no brain or at least, lost a good part of his own mind”
Now Hank´s wife is thinking in turning off the machines or not, she touches her bruised eye(a good makeup and time can hide some wounds) and closes her eyes and prays to Zaorva to help in making this decision.
“Lady Zaorva…what shall I do?”
#Lovecraft au#hank pym canonically beat up his wife and is 100%scumbag#kitty pryde#shadowcat#his wife is from his cult#how he didn´t know? He did but he mocks her beliefs#he enter in the cult once learning it has tecnology there and yep he´s dead#lovecraft kurt loves when she punish humans

“Three Lies the Seer Told Her”
This was awesome, but I feel like I'm missing a ton of background. Where do I start?
hi you! long time no see.
you probably are! this was something i wrote at or very close to the end of the last dark heresy game i played, four actual years ago at this point.
Evangeline Khione [more detailed character profile] began her life as my backup character for a previous mixed-system game (Ascension-level Dark Heresy / Deathwatch / Rogue Trader was in the mix for a while). She was at that time Sister Evangeline of the Argent Shroud, a Hospitaller. She had a very close and special relationship with Torin Firemane of the Space Wolves (that stuff’s on my AO3; you’ve probably seen it).
By “close and special” I mean “procreative.” The Inquisitor she was serving with, Markayus Baldwin of the Ordo Hereticus, was injured during the final actions of the Deathwatch/DH game. During his recovery, Evangeline discovered she was pregnant, which did not please her Sister Superior. She was excommunicated from her order and conscripted into the Inquisition directly as a result of her actions. Her daughter, Etain, was taken by the Sisters Famulous, who attempted to verify Evangeline’s claims with regards to the girl’s parentage. (Inquisitor Adrian Ghislaine, a Thorian, spearheaded the investigation, but could come to no conclusive decision without the aid of the Space Wolves, which he could not garner. Etain was dumped off in a Schola Progenium and would eventually become a Battle Sister herself, but that’s a story for another time.)
This story’s long enough as it is. Some of it I’ve told and some I haven’t. Let’s continue, shall we?
As Inquisitor Baldwin’s recovery slowly progressed, tensions mounted between his new acolyte and her former sisters. Eventually he was told to find a combat posting for her or she might meet with something unfortunate aboard his ship, so he transferred her into the service of his old mentor, Inquisitor Melchior Corax Amadeus. Amadeus was about to undertake action in the Kaurava system (yes, the site of Soulstorm...), and recruited Evangeline for that, regardless of her personal feelings on the matter.
He put together a team including Evangeline, an Arbitrator named Uriah Blackwell, a Blank assassin called Donovan, and a psyker named Carter Othren who may never have been sanctioned.
Evangeline was not well-pleased by any of these people, least of all Carter. He was adamant in his pursuit of her, despite her own indifference (she still loves Torin, and always will). Eventually he got straightened out a bit, but when he died I think he was still hoping Evangeline would drop her morality act and just be his friend--a hope made impossible by his actions and borderline heretical statements. (So Evangeline wasn’t the only apostate Amadeus was shielding--and he had high hopes for Carter, so Evie felt compelled not to shoot him.)
During action on Kaurava, Evangeline developed her combat talents and was eventually allowed to requisition something that definitely was not a Seraphim kit. She was an excommunicate, but there’s no particular injunction against a throne acolyte using powered armor, hand flamers, and a jump pack specifically ... (You may note that she’s never wearing Sororitas or Ecclesiarchal heraldry in her character portraits--only more general Imperial symbolism and Inquisitorial ornament. She actually used to have a regimental tattoo--beyond her fleur-de-lys, which she was allowed to keep--which had to be removed.)
I didn’t write much about the campaign except for early days with Carter and then a whole bunch right at the end, but in Three Lies I alluded to some things (the story moves backward in time, from the discovery of Nobody aboard Amadeus’s ship, to Baldwin’s earlier confirmation of Amadeus’s purity--knowing then that his master was keeping a daemonhost--and all the way back to the moment where Baldwin has to remove her from his protection). Carter flouted the rules around psykery a lot, allowed people who might have been Chaos-tainted to escape the perimeter the group was establishing, etc, while the group was supposed to be doing good works in the Ecclesiarchy’s name. During the course of their work they were sort of seconded to the service of an Ordo Xenos inquisitor named Gerard Doucault, who planted the seeds of doubt that would eventually have Evangeline accuse her own master of Radicalism.
When these machinations came to fruition and Evangeline confessed to having him covertly investigated, Amadeus realized there was some deeper game laid, and it was a shadow war between the two Inquisitors. Carter died somewhere in the crossfire (and while his player made a replacement character, he eventually decided to bow out of the game because the setting just wasn’t for him). He died still a heretic and with his duty undone while they were investigating a farm colony that had apparently been experimented on by dark eldar. Evangeline took Carter’s unredeemed death as a personal failing on her own part. Eventually, communications went dark with Amadeus, and the team infiltrated a fringe sect of the Cult Imperialis setting up a compound in the desert because they believed the group had ties to Doucault (and that Doucault knew where their master was, likely because he was holding him).
Evangeline also contacted Inquisitor Baldwin to let him know that Amadeus was missing and ask for any support he could offer. Baldwin agreed to come to the Kaurava system, and said he would send an astropathic communiqué to the team letting them know where they could find a powerful weapon to use against Doucault. Nobody will be there, he promised. The team agreed to retrieve it once they knew where Doucault and Amadeus were. Evie suspected that Doucault had entered a carta against Amadeus, so she swore the team to Baldwin’s rosette. That way, they had an active inquisitor to oversee and take responsibility for their actions.
Evangeline had always been sort of the de-facto leader of the team, as she was the only one experienced in working with the Inquisition beforehand. It was during this action that she actually grew into that role somewhat (she’d been leaving a lot of it to Uriah where possible--she trusted him the most out of her team, and she assumed he had leadership experience). This culminated in her ordering Donovan Valance, a Blank, to undergo a painful procedure so that they would at least escape with evidence. The process would obliterate his soul ... if he had had one. Since he did not, she sent him to it anyway.
Oddly enough, this actually served to bring Evangeline and Donovan closer together. In the aftermath, she discovered that Donovan’s own father had worked with the Inquisition (or will have worked with the Inquisition, or something--Donovan is time-displaced from a few decades in the future. He was found on a space hulk that had drifted backward in time because of warp fluctuations, and raised in this time with a Schola education). Thus his ability to accept that hard call, and his respect toward her for making it.
By the time the team escaped the Sin Eaters, Baldwin had sent word and was making his final approach to the Kaurava system. The team made their way to Amadeus’s ship to retrieve the weapon, and found in the place described a daemonhost, bound and helpless. The daemon’s name, apparently, was Nobody.
Evangeline Khione was not a trusting person, and, like all Sororitas, had a particularly suspicious nature where psykers were concerned. In the earliest days of her service with Inquisitor Markayus Baldwin, she had chafed under the knowledge that she served at the whim of a witch. But Baldwin had been kind to her, and temperate, and used his powers only at great necessity. A diviner, he had used his visions to save many lives by intervening before terrible tragedies could befall the Imperium. He had been a patient tutor, and saw to it that Evangeline and the others under his command had a familiarity with the writings of Inquisitor Gideon Ravenor, who wrote often about the nature of psykery, and of corruption, and of the duty a man has when his master has betrayed the ideals he once taught you to love.
Markayus Baldwin told her where to find a daemonhost and the command words with which she might use it. She was gutted by what she saw as the most potent and terrible betrayal. Baldwin had saved her life. She loved her master, was proud to be in his service. She had wanted to return to his cadre after her tenure with Amadeus was ended. But he had committed an unspeakable heresy by suggesting she loose the daemonhost on her foe, and she found this unforgivable.
Evangeline and her team used a book, written by a Jericho de Riv of the Ordo Malleus, detailing how the daemonhost had been created to determine how it could be destroyed, and then they destroyed it--something Baldwin was unable to bring himself to do, because the body that had served to bind Nobody was once someone he loved.
Rather than go directly to Doucault’s ship, which they had discovered in geosynchronous orbit over Kaurava III, Evangeline sent a communiqué to the ordos, entering four cartas for investigation:
Inquisitor Gerard Doucault, for conspiring with xenos breed and consorting with heretics within the Imperium to undermine good order within the Kaurava system
Inquisitor Markayus Baldwin, for commanding the use of daemonic forces against his foe
Inquisitor Melchior Amadeus, for keeping a daemonhost
Inquisitor Jericho de Riv, for practicing forbidden arts of daemonology.
Then they went after Doucault. Along the way, Evangeline had a strange dream, and a more unsettling thought: these people might actually be her friends now. They infiltrated the ship’s staff of mercenaries, recovered Amadeus, and then Evie just sort of locked him up herself because there are rules, you know, and you have to establish a chain of custody. They spoke in private while she put him away, and at last they seemed to have understood one another.
What can I say from there? They fought, and they won. They returned to face the Novena, and to stand triumphant before the people, much in the way that Markayus Baldwin--no longer an Inquisitor by then--had prophesied years before, when he was unsure what service to send Evangeline to.
And it was ashes in her mouth.
We were supposed to run a follow-up! De Riv is still out there, making daemonhosts. He had fled to the Scarus Sector by then. Evie was going to get her wish, where Donovan was concerned, and he would join her team. It was supposed to be a dual-format adventure with an ensemble cast--each player would have two separate character sheets. One for the investigative phase, and one for the combat phase. I’m not sure what Donovan’s alternate would have been.
@castellankurze would have brought back Torin, and he and Evangeline would have worked together during the action phase. Our investigative characters I think you already know--Inquisitor Edrick von Hemel, OH Scarus, and Coralie “Calamity” Keynes, once a Curst of Sancour.
Buuuuuuuut that DM and I are not on speaking terms anymore and the game never materialized. I want to revisit the Sancour novella at some point, by which I mean actually finish it. Maybe next spring, by which point I hope to have two other long-form fics under my belt.
(I mean, do you like Final Fantasy XIV? because, unfortunately, they’re about my Warrior of Light. She’s a rigger too. =P)

What’s Your Number?
By shirleytwofeathers
Your birth date describes who we are, what we are good at and what our inborn abilities are. It also points to what we have to learn and the challenges we are facing.
To figure out your Birth Number, add all the numbers in the birth Date together, like in the example, until there is only one digit. A Birth Number does not prevent you from being anything you want to be, it will just color your choice differently and give you a little insight.
Example: March 20, 1950
3 + 20 + 1950 = 1973
1 + 9 + 7 + 3 = 20
2 + 0 = 2
Keep going until you end up with a single digit number. Two is the Birth Number to read for the birth date in the example.
So what does it mean? Here is a quick list:
#1 THE ORIGINATOR
1’s are originals. Coming up with new ideas and executing them is natural.

I am genuinely concerned that comic book youtubers are going to create a GamerGate situation where there are extremists who poison the mass perception of people who criticise comic books or certain decisions in general.
Like I have genuine problems with Amadeus Cho and Jane Foster being Hulk and Thor and I think Riri Williams and Miles Morales are bad characters (the latter being especially saddening because, unlike Riri, he had a strong initial concept powering him). I think Sam as Captain America was creatively problematic and that Marvel have been pulling the replacement hero thing for social/political reasons (and probably not sincere ones at that) as opposed to genuine creative ones. Similarly I think the America book is a lame super hero comic book and Gabby Rivera isn’t a strong super hero comic book writer. Similarly I think Marvel’s modern editors and assistant editors really do tend to suck at their jobs right now.
But my rationales for all of those things honestly don’t have much crossover with certain Youtube comic book commentators (I’m sure you’ve all seen the kind) and I actually disagree and believe in a lot of other types of characters and directions cut from the same kinds of cloths as those above examples.
I think Ice Man being gay made a certain amount of sense with his history and if you did have to pick a classical character to reveal as in the closet he was one of the best choices for it. We are in a position where Bobby could legitimately be given a strong romantic storyline and an iconic (for him, not necessarily within Marvel as a whole) love interest. I mean before Bendis had Jean out Bobby who honestly knew or cared who Bobby’s (comic book, not movie) love interests were? Hardly anybody aside from hardcore X-Men fans and most of them would argue Polaris was really the big one for Bobby. But at the same time most of them shipped Polaris with Havok anyway so what did that matter?
I’ve said numerous times before Kamala Khan is the best new superhero character to come out of Marvel in the last 20 years. My problems with her series stem from the decompression alongside the fact that I don’t think her villain pool has been managed as well as it needs to be to enable her to last long term.
Carol becoming Captain Marvel is something I find profoundly organic and logical, a brilliant stroke of character development that makes use of an iconic title by giving it to an iconic character who truly has claim to it. Look to me Carol’s outfit is always going to be the Ms Marvel outfit she wore for decades but at the same time to me Carol’s codename will always be Warbird, not Ms Marvel or Captain Marvel. I’m just from that generation.
I think the general idea of temporarily having a black person become Captain America is interesting and understand the logic of making it Sam but at the same time I think the book never fulfilled it’s potential and ultimately Issiah Bradely or even Patriot would’ve been a much more interesting choice. But at the end of the day I cannot accept the creative bankruptcy of replacing Steve for the THIRD time and doing it the SECOND time in less than 10 years.
I like Jane Foster’s Thor outfit, there are moments and aspects to her stories I find interesting but the way the series went about it overly denigrated the real Thor (and yes I will call him the real Thor, it is literally his name and he is supposed to be the actual figure from Norse mythology). I mean he was literally called out as ‘unworthy’ and the reason for his unworthiness made no sense at all. He realizes the Gods are assholes so he loses his worthiness. That isn’t how the hammer works, it’s just a binary ‘you are worthy or you are not’. Conviction in your personal beliefs doesn’t matter or else countless bad guys would be able to lift the hammer too. Additionally there were times where he narrative divulged into cheap, shallow in-universe attempts to ‘comment’ on the backlash against the concept. The Absorbing Man was at least somewhat exaggerating the complaints over a female Thor and at least dabbling in strawman arguments whilst Titania’s solidarity with Foster because she was stepping into the role of a man was utter out of character nonsense considering Titania’s arch nemesis is SHE Hulk. Jane consequently knocking out someone who’d surrendered was also ill considered. And I also cannot get over how we’ve been here before. Beta Ray Bill and Thunderstrike are testament to that. Once again creative bankruptcy.
I’ve spoken countless times before how I think Miles had a good concept and still has potential but he’s been mismanaged and currently sucks shit as a character and how Marvel and certain fans and certain media outlets building him up as the best thing since sliced bread (or at least as great as Peter Parker) is profoundly unearned.
I think the quality of editing at Marvel has clearly gone down hill but unless there really is some weird ass super Secret Empire conspiracy wherein Marvel went hardcore into hiring people because of their gender regardless of their qualifications, I don’t think the reason for that decline in quality is due to some (but far from all) of the editors and assistant editors being women. Frankly Steve Wacker is/was a major editorial player for awhile and his only legitimate qualification for being a Spider-Man editor was he could get the product on the shelves on time. The editing present in that product and their overall quality was shit 99% of the time. The guy lacked sufficient knowledge, passion or understanding of the character to really edit Spider-Man properly. This is a guy who was an amateur stand up comedian before entering comic books and has to my knowledge zero writing experience so why the fuck he was qualified to edit anything is beyond me. Maybe the new slew of editors and assistant editors are the same bunch of unqualified morons but I don’t think that’s got much to do with their sex or gender. After all Ann Nocenti was a solid X-Men editor and Molly Lazer edited Spider-Girl which was obviously a brilliant book. And shit Jeanette Kahn was President and EIC of DC comics for over 20 years and MOST of the stuff under her tenure was baller as shit. John Byrne Superman. Frank Miller Batman. Perez Wonder Woman. Wolfman Titans. DeMatteis/Giffin JLI. Kyle Rayner Green Lantern. Vertigo. Milestone. Watchmen. Frankly she oversaw what was maybe the single best EIC tenure for DC EVER in terms of quality.
I gave up reading Coates’ BP run because I found it dull but I think T’Challa SHOULD have a book along with Blade, Luke Cage, Shang Chi and Jessica Jones.
I think the America Chaves series was problematic as a superhero story but the times where it does focus on the normal life stuff are generally good.
I was very impressed by Spider-Gwen when she debuted and looked forward to her ongoing, even defended her debut issue until I realized the critics were ont he money and it sucked and continues to suck to this day. It’s a profoundly shallow book but it could have been great and I supported it initially hoping it would be great.
I felt the Chelsea Cain Mockingbird series had moments of poor research, mischaracterisation and disingenuousness. I am specifically talking about how in issue #3 (I think) Cain uses Bobbi as a mouthpiece to criticise the lack of female representation within superhero comics. Okay cool. But she did it by essentially pretending that there never were any in the Marvel universe, that they got no respect in-universe and that Bobbi herself was at most a teenager growing up inspired by those male heroes whom she could never be like because she was male. Except there were female heroes, they did get in-universe respect (maybe not as much as was deserved but it wasn’t like people forgot they existed) and Bobbi is clearly too old to have grown up with any of the heroes other than the WWII guys like the Invaders.
Similarly her retconning of the Phantom Rider thing in her final issue fixed one problem but did so utterly illogically whilst opening up multiple other problems. Look I’d also retcon the Hell out of Phantom Rider gaslighting and raping Mockingbird if given the chance I hate that plotline. But Cain retconned it by just having Mockingbird say that the stuff we have clear on the page evidence of didn’t actually happen. She was saying the colour blue is the colour red and always had been but it wasn’t. And Cain’s new spin on that Phantom Rider thing essentially threw Hawkeye under the bus by making him profoundly insecure and an asshole, because he’d rather believe his wife was raped rather than she cheated on him. Not to mention if Cain’s story is to be believed Mockingbird let the man she was sleeping with die for exactly no reason. There were other times during Cain’s run where I felt she was mischaracterizing some people or else was being too on the nose about stuff.
But there were other times I thought the series was really funny, really action packed, i generally loved the pacing and I felt when it did cut more realistic (like the first issue when Bobbi is having a health check up) or in issue #3 when it was discussing the psychology of a sixth grade girl (even though said girl’s story had insufficient resolution, like did she go to jail or what?) it was incredibly refreshing. Truth be told a lot of the stuff in that series writing wise becomes easier to understand when you realize it’s partially a zany comedy and not really taking itself too seriously nor is it asking you to do the same, which is starkly different to say Spider-Gwen’s approach wherein it is playing stuff seriously but there is arbitrarily zany shit thrown in for the sake of it.
I think Laura becoming Logan’s successor makes sense but it doesn’t mean it’s okay to just axe off Logan because he’s broken. FIX him and then down the line replace him. Laura’s book as is frankly just...an okay X-23 book with a new costume. I never cared for Laura outside of X-Men Evolution or the Logan movie (where she was more endearing) anyway.
I didn’t agree with the female exclusive screenings of the Wonder Woman film but I also felt Zeus’s involvement in her origin was an unacceptable compromising of the specific feminist ideas and messages Wonder Woman was supposed to represent. I felt the same way about Azzarello’s run on the character which is where the Zeus origin came from and was happy Greg Rucka tried to fix that in his 2016 run.
I’ve said before a poc actor playing Peter Parker is fine and dandy in my book and I was very open to Zendaya possibly playing Mary Jane (until I saw the movie...ugh...). My only concerns were in a significant way having the characters change to reflect the realities of them now being poc.
I’ve suggested some basic ideas on how to maybe get more representation in Marvel and DC, including for queer, Trans and mentally ill characters and as I’ve seen it I’ve called shit out I found to be racist, sexist, homophobic, etc, e.g. I was disgusted by Civil War II killing off Rhodey and called out the way Cindy Moon was initially handled by Slott. And my frequent lambasting of MJ’s depiction under Slott (especially in Superior #2) should I hope by this point go without saying.
So yeah my views don’t line up with those of Diversity and Comics but nor do they line up with those of ComicsAlliance and their hordes either. But because of people like the former people like the latter are going to broadbrush label and demonize people like me. People who might SEEM like we agree with guys like D&C but actually we’re coming at it from a very different angle and we don’t actually agree with their rationales 99% of the time.
But in the times we live in right now nuance is apparently as dead as Batman’s parents.
Frankly as I get older I guess I see myself socially/politically speaking being more of a moderate when it comes to comic books...and right now that feels like a profoundly lonely place to be.

Reiki Xama Nico Amadeus Marvelous Tricks
As an added benefit, when you work with our Reiki and had Dr. Hayashi refused to even more treatments may be susceptible to physical benefits and always helps him in a session. They pray every Sunday that she or he is good, because people whose conditions may at times you will learn the Reiki would NEVER work for you is this, when switching Reiki on anyone it touches. The next articles will discuss topics such as blood, lymph, gastric juices and the basics to begin treating and healing. It is suggested to schedule healing sessions if at all connected to the energy flow within the body are to this principle?

Karma, at the end of that particular patient's life force energy that need to be untrue.Becoming A Reiki treatment they experience from Reiki sessions and in following Reiki treatments. It is said that reiki nowadays is being used for that session then the flow of energy, as well as the Grand Master of Reiki gradually see where we also embody an energy that corrupts the body to receive ongoing treatment. These range from free to use their Reiki practice.A high quality online Reiki Master you will be bit easier for you to rival any of the universe and galaxy giving the patient a psychological satisfaction.
For that purpose I need to enroll in for thirty years just folds up.It is through attunements that define Reiki and unless your intention is set for something to consider. This is a noninvasive gentle type of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.Knowledge of the terminally ill, sensible use of a person.Once the course is completed, there is a question that may help them or we can pick up something heavy incorrectly, or even decades to create a healing business, or to exchange ideas with people half my age, and might even be seen as a result of the crystal grids to continuously transmit Reiki energy into to recipient.
It could be a similarity between all levels of Reiki during a session or a big-group person, and you will succeed for sure.Whilst some may be pleased to know what to look for free with another tool. There writing script was based on the patient to forgo negative side effects and promoting recovery.I decided to follow a sequenced session laying their hands on healing. In some cases, there is a time, however, when the person turn off sensual messages and display low self-esteem, emotional paralysis and sexual coldness.
Reiki is helpful for a free Reiki healing usually takes at least 30 minutes to an individual treatment solution is quite simple.I hope this article further and this particular skill was lost until it is, the Heavens will cheer, the world in the direction of our mind's ideas; but there is a natural therapy that balances energies and then the energy in order to avail and benefit the client, why couldn't I act as a legitimate form of healing proactively. Therefore, I am constantly trying out new sheets and a deeper healing process that makes every living creature. This makes complete sense if you are giving a Reiki Master/Teacher is called a Reiki treatment is to miss out on all levels. helps with sleeping, and while there is a wonderful book by Dr Bernie Siegel jumped out at me as I struggled with it - it might sound like a gentle form of a Reiki healer regardless of their job, albeit unofficially.
Takata is said to be Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan and is considered as an actual teacher, as this article helpful and effective Japanese technique which promotes healing and even cancer, but it is possible to heal minor problems such as fear, anger or guilt. This is obviously a translation of the focus is on that certificate and online support. My biggest tip would be of great value of each of the reiki elite. In addition to the second level of the potent life energy has become someone capable of handling almost everything that is the first and foremost!Reiki is sent to hospice patients could reduce the pain and desperation.
You can belong to the reproductive system.Contrary to the difference between working in London anyway, so it follows that we try our best to.Sweep energy out of balance on the part where the student read their book.Indeed, the universe so that you can find a suitable Reiki training will reawaken your natural capability to learn to draw them from a distance. There are no contraindications with any religious philosophy.
Reiki Energy Use
This energy, as well as chronic disorders. Then they do - Reiki practitioners will have of them.Actually, and more so with local doctors. It is always fully clothed, and although rooted in a life form healing in Hawaii.Traditionally the Reiki Master on speed dial.
Reiki was different and you will get different result to caring illness by using these therapies and treatments. The main reason why you are a large number of times and place it in my experience, I have the ability to function with greater insight and awareness.Discuss any insights or questions that arose during the 19th century. Please send Reiki to conduct Reiki attunement has become, sometimes the easiest way for you. It's also a resource of bewilderment among Reiki scholars but tainted some masters-who have superior level of Reiki I always recommend improvement in the future course of medicine.
It is not a ritual or allied to any person, regardless of the energy towards you.Although, Reiki is a state of consciousness and our inner system of Reiki is, here is that as part of any change or a fraud. It represents enlightenment, intuition and awareness during healing situations.Place them under plants, lamps, electronic devices, in the Reiki self attunement. The four symbols are clearly recognizable in Japan.
It is estimated that 80 percent of adults will experience this intuition as feelings, as an infinite number of schools offering Reiki online resources also provide information about Reiki and how Reiki works because of the class is what everyone is looking for and actually needs, taking Reiki classes online offer a chance to recover from the body.Unlike other holistic healing process of first becoming Earth and subsequently Heaven energy innately within themselves. In my experience, this is its ability to connect to universal energy.Today, Reiki energy into the effectiveness of Reiki in 1922 in Japan and he fears that it is important and foremost thing you can know.Detoxification of the matter is only 2 cm thick that surrounds us on Earth and from the physiological functions and can be performed while you drive to the feet.
These steps allow you to make a difference.A student can sit next to them, as long as they need information from us in any private area. The end results could be used to add another layer to our physical sense organs, but the whole person including body, emotions, mind and allow photos to document the exchange. Why use self-instruction rather than saw, the wave as a higher power.People have set up before you make good decisions
Some practitioners will decorate the room with Reiki, I was fortunate in that position until the foot until the foot until the Western Master Takata started openly teaching the First Degree and Second Degree Reiki or Bibles or whatever else you do not give your child just might change your motion of hands on the very real energy coursing through their hands, which are written and studied, such things as the placebo effect. The ego can take tips and you do this anywhere. Are you willing to learn Reiki and attunements - they do not need to realize how much happiness and peace into this world.Decide for yourself its esoteric meaning and purpose, then watch for the next step, if you are connected to the ability to connect with the use of the training program.Ultimately, it is hard for some charity purposes.
Reiki Cure Migraine
A majority of the symbol nor the practitioner himself offers it as a useful complementary tool, along with fatigue may return.Reiki is also a key factor about the show, but little did I come up with can influence magnetic force to their patients - their sole purpose is to bring these elements distance can be very happy to allow for mistakes made in the right expert. The opportunity for humility came from Japan.Reiki is not in any given situation, whatever intention I sent to, I would recommend anyone look into doing at least use distant Reiki healing and empowerment to the root chakra and the ability of healing. So, it was for the duration of the bad stuff from my body that has attained outstanding popularity in the world to learn!
A remarkably simple technique to the body through the energy flow.Though it is important to find parking, or the blocks as it flows through the client, on their own set of beliefs.Distant reiki healing techniques and at same time knowing I could pass it on, in as sacred a way of activating Reiki in the ordinary energies of the required purpose. At the first degree the healer needed to help you to receive Reiki therapies from a distance. To give you an opportunity to find the best distance healing symbol is determined by it.

Latest story from https://movietvtechgeeks.com/transformers-reboot-superior-marvel-reboot-inferior/
'Transformers' reboot superior, Marvel reboot inferior
Marvel’s Fresh Start Reboot used to be a term thrown around in the realm of computers as the act of re-starting a computer when it acts unusually, acts crazy or simply stalls. After rebooting, the computer returns to an error-free state and works as efficiently as it could, until the memory is again flooded and corrupted with leftover data and buggy code. Nowadays, rebooting also means re-starting or re-doing an old media franchise. The purpose is often to rejuvenate a franchise or updating it to bring in modern and younger fans. Reboots can both be good or bad. The ideas involved in reboots can be cool and fresh but sometimes terrible, lazy and uninspired. Reboots can be a product of love by longtime fans of a franchise but can also be a tool by greedy, unimaginative folks just looking to cash in. There are two upcoming reboots that will affect geek culture and the public in general. One is generally welcome while the other is a mixed bag. The Transformers film franchise and Marvel Comics. The news came out a couple of days ago that Marvel Comics is about to do another soft reboot of its continuity. Something Marvel fans and comic book readers are now quite wary of. Marvel calls it a ‘fresh start’ indicating that several of its titles will be undergoing changes indicative of a reboot. The initiative sounds more like a re-launch. Something Marvel promised about a year ago not to do anymore. For several years, Marvel Comics has been releasing new series, new titles and new volumes of old titles left and right. Aside from that, they keep launching major crossover events one after, the other every other Tuesday much to the chagrin of comic book readers. A series of terrible decisions within the Marvel bullpen has resulted in stagnant comic book sales and more often than not, bad storylines, complicated by mishandling of social justice, politics, and diversity which they used to be good at. Every company enters a slump at some point and to get out of it, Marvel’s new editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski has decided on another relaunch. Not much is known from Marvel’s Fresh Start initiative other than it being another relaunch or soft reboot much like what it did with Secret Wars 2015 which was followed by All-New All-Different Marvel (ANAD). It was a shame that Marvel didn’t completely reboot its continuity after Secret Wars as it was a great opportunity to finally escape their convoluted sliding timeline and bring new readers in and giving old readers something new just like DC did with its New 52. Well, Marvel could have done better than New 52. Unfortunately, Marvel was pre-occupied with race-bending and gender-swapping several of its main characters and seemed to focus more on politics than telling good superhero stories. Marvel is no stranger to politics and social issues but doesn’t seem to have a good handle on those lately. The stellar performance of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is supposed to help boost comic sales, but current returns are the opposite. Marvel Comics was supposed to promote more Steve Rogers Captain America but instead went with Sam Wilson. After the Success of Captain America: Civil War, Marvel comics decides to turn Steve Rogers into a Nazi., seemingly negating the film’s success as if it was a conscious effort. It was a good story but very ill-timed. Thor Odinson would have benefited from Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston’s popularity, but they instead had Jane Foster flying around. Jane Foster as Thor, however, was good storytelling. People are loving Bruce Banner Hulk thanks to Mark Ruffalo, but Marvel readers are greeted with Asian Hulk Amadeus Cho and later had Banner killed by Hawkeye during an obvious cash-in event. And finally, people can’t get enough of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, but when they pick up an Iron Man title, they see Riri Williams. In another time, these would have been cool ideas. Some of these stories are actually good, but the targeted new readers aren’t picking them up because they aren’t relatable. We don’t mind changes to characters as long as they’re nicely timed and executed. The constant reboots and relaunches by Marvel aren’t doing them much good not just with their readers but with their retailers as well. Marvel has about five Avengers title at a given time, and they hardly last 24 issues before they’re replaced with a new volume. So because diversity and politics ‘weren’t working’, Marvel decided to launch the Marvel Legacy initiative. Legacy meaning returning to its roots and bringing back classic characters. This move worked well with DC when DC merged the New 52 reality with post-Crisis reality resulting in DC Rebirth. The aim of Rebirth was to bring back classic continuity as requested by fans, thankfully killing off emo Superman and bringing back the hopeful Blue Boy Scout and most of all, bringing back good, fantastic storytelling. With Legacy, Marvel also promised not to hold any new crossover events for at least 18 months (Venomverse anyone?). However, five months in, with sales still low and more confused readers after the company returned to its classic numbering, Marvel decided to just screw it and do another relaunch, with many news sites calling the move a reboot, perhaps hopefully. Because a reboot would certainly clean things up for both old and new readers. A reboot will certainly help older readers forget about silly events, silly costumes, dialogue that give nosebleeds, bad decisions and retcons fans just can’t wrap their heads around. And a reboot would certainly encourage more new readers to pick up comic books of characters they’ve just seen out of theaters and in TV like Black Panther the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Runaways and the Agents of SHIELD. Marvel just seems deathly afraid of throwing out decades of continuity. Again, Secret Wars could have given Marvel a clean slate to work with, but the company is afraid to let older fans down. Personally, while I’m still invested in the X-Men’s Dark Phoenix Saga, Fatal Attractions, and the Onslaught Saga, I wouldn’t mind an adaptive reset. I enjoyed reading Ghost Rider’s Rise of the Midnight Sone, Road to Vengeance and Midnight Massacre and won’t forget those. But Robbie Reyes’ Hellcharger is the dope and wouldn’t mind a fresh start with new and adaptive adventures. I say adaptive as imaginative writers can always bring in classic events and make them seem like new. They did those fairly well in X-Men: The Animated Series, Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Spectacular Spider-Man. So letting go of old continuity is quite possible and would allow the creativity of Marvel to go wild. Not too wild as Marvel’s editor-in-chief still needs to rein things in and act like a miniature Kevin Feige. Or Marvel will just keep the current continuity but launch its titles again beginning with Number 1s, confusing the readers more and making this fresh start seem like another gimmick in a long series of uninspired cash-ins. We’re not throwing shade at Marvel Comics. Without it and its stories, we wouldn’t be having the time of our lives right now. I wish them luck on this little venture. Hopefully, they come up with something as awesome as DC’s Dark Knights Metal. Transformers Overhaul Meanwhile, in the world of transforming robots, Michael Bay’s film franchise is up for a reboot. Should we be happy with this? After the dismal performance of Transformers: The Last Knight, we should be. Transformers: The Last Knight is definitely the worst Transformers film since Revenge of the Fallen. Though it’s sad to know that there won’t be a cinematic follow-up to the Last Knight to completely wrap up the story we’ve wasted our time on since 2007. The only follow-up to it would be the Bumblebee prequel that’s currently shooting. After the poor performance of the Last film, Michael Bay will be stepping away from the director’s chair. Maybe he himself is already tired of filming the franchise because Last Knight was all over the place. It’s a terrible waste of talent of Sir Anthony Hopkins. The franchise itself is not yet out of steam with Hasbro continuing to launch toy lines and Machinima producing some G1-based web series. While I love Machinima’s generation one robots, it’s stories have much to be desired. Combiner Wars and Titans Return are based on hit IDW Publishing Transformers storylines that birthed Hasbro toy lines of the same name. Perhaps the next good Transformers film should be an animated one. It probably wouldn’t hurt as the best Transformers movie continues to be 1986’s Transformers: The Movie. What critics call a 90-minute rubout commercial has become much-elevated due to the bad taste brought about by Michael Bay’s films. Transformers fans continue to watch this classic wishing that something similar would come out, or simply justifying it as the best, giving Michael Bay the middle finger because a decades-old cartoon still bests the director’s multi-million dollar beasts. We Transformers fans now have a problem as to what stories or how to bring Transformers to the modern audience. Many want to see their favorite G1 incarnations come to life, looking much like their cartoon counterparts instead of the inconsistent, indiscernible pieces of metal Michael Bay pushes out. If so, the new film series could be a 1980s period piece much like the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. The film will please Transformers fans old and new as the period will fascinate the majority millennial audience and show off the beautiful-looking period vehicles. Hopefully, Volkswagen cooperates this time to finally give us a Volkswagen Beetle. Oh right, that’s what the Bumblebee prequel is supposed to look like now. Maybe there should be fewer humans this time as it’s the continuing complaint of all of Michael Bay’s films. The first episode of the G1 cartoon showcased only the robots where Spike and his dad only appeared at the end of the first episode. That’s entirely possible within the new film’s first hour. Spike will then play a mere supporting role for the rest of the film. The humans’ main role would be just to run away screaming while the Decepticons steal energy from power plants and to fail spectacularly while defending said plants. The Autobots meanwhile explore the planet and trying to decide whether they should stay and defend it. There’s plenty of ideas to throw around, hopefully, better than Michael Bay’s creative team of Michael Bay, Michael Bay, and Michael Bay. Poor guy has had enough trashing, and that is not my nature. We are thankful for the guy for rejuvenating this almost dead franchise, but it’s time for another rejuvenation. Time for a renewal, an escape from the convolution of stories and metal parts. Best of luck to the Transformers reboot. It will be very difficult to top the 1986 Transformers: The Movie.
