Natsu was pretty surprised when he was picked as Gray's 'fake date' for their mission. Especially considering that he and Gray were sorta kinda not really faking the whole 'dating' thing. Not that that'd told anyone yet- or even really figured it all out themselves.

But Erza was insistent that they be the two to go in. They were going undercover in a shady pub that had been rumored to host some pretty dark guild-type shit when the Council wasn't looking. A couple of wizards going in for some drink together was the best cover. Erza had even gone on a whole tangent about the 'cover story' she'd made them. Something about a few casual drinks for their 6 months anniversary.

The two had a couple drinks when they first got there, keeping an eye on anything weird. They began to notice some of the patrons walking into the back, where was assumed to be just a bathroom at first, and then not coming back out.

The two made their way towards the back with as much nonchalantness as they both could muster. Not wanting to catch anyone's eye.

They found that there was in fact a door that opened up to a descending stairwell. Definitely not suspicious at all. They made their way closer but paused when the sound of ascending steps came from behind the door. Natsu turned to pull Gray back out the back hall and into the bar crowed only to see another pair of guys coming towards the hall.

There wasn't much time for thought, and Erza would be real pissed if they blew their cover so early. The whole point was to get evidence to actually prove the allegations and then start kicking people's shit in.

They couldn't go down and they couldn't go back. If Natus threw any sort of punch he'd fuck up the whole operation in one swing (no matter how much he kinda wanted to.) The only option they had was to keep the attention off of them and let whoever was coming their way to pass without a second thought.

An idea sparked in his mind. An idea that he didn't have time, or even the brain, to give a second thought. He turned back to Gray, grabbed the front of the man's shirt and matched his gaze. His eyes practically pleading him to 'go with it'.

Without hardly another moment and definitely no room for Gray to figure what that look was even referring to, Natsu pulled Gray forward enough to take him into a passionate kiss.

It was not even a second after he executed this brilliant plan of his, that he though to himself, 'Is this our first kiss??'

Your bestfriend pouted as he looked at you through the screen, brushing his hair with his hand as he attempted to find a spot on the bed to sit.

"That's not helping," he huffed, groaning in frustration at the sight of his room in disarray, with everything scattered around. "I really shouldn't have let him in my room."

"I told you, he is really annoying. Do you remember the day he got injured? And the professor told me to take care of him? It was probably the worst day of my life." You wince, recalling the disastrous day you had spent looking after the professor's son. "Isn't he too mischievous for his age?"

Mingyu chuckled, causing you to frown. "That day when you bumped onto me looking like a clown?"

"I'm hanging up the call if you want to keep it this way."

"No, no! I'm sorry!" He laughed, resting his phone against a book.

You roll your eyes, attempting to hold back a smile that threatened to form on your lips. "When are you coming back to the dorms?" He asks, and you shrug. "Tomorrow, maybe."

"Why do you ask?"

"Why do you think, genius?"

"I hope the professor's kid steals your wallet next time."

"Hey! that's—" he pauses, and gasps before speaking in a hushed tone. "Wait, where's my wallet!?"

Your jaw drops as you resist the urge to scold him for his carelessness. "Don't tell me you didn't hide your wallet." You stare at him in horror as he searches through his desk for his wallet, only to sigh and fall back into his chair.

"I can't find it..." He cried out, covering his face with his two hands.

"Gosh, what am I going to do with your careless ass?" With a sigh, you massage your temples while Mingyu sits there looking pouty, as if he is waiting for you to come up with a master plan to find it. "Are you sure it's not there?"

Mingyu's face lit up, and he quickly shook his head. "It's not there, it's not! let's go find it tomorrow!" He chirped with a grin, knowing that you will come back tomorrow. You smiled and sneered.

He had always been like this. Always so excited to meet you.

"Okay, then. I'll come back tomorrow morning and we can go to the professor together."

"I'll come to pick you up." He said, holding up his hands to form a heart. "Okay, I'll see you tomorrow, mwah!" He puckered his lips to deliver a flying kiss before hanging up the phone.

"No, wait—"

You sighed, as he had already hung up the phone.

You stood up from your seat, smiling at the thought of finally meeting your friends again. (by friends, I mean Mingyu)

Due to an important family gathering, you had to return home from the dorm a few days ago, and Mingyu has not left you alone for even a minute since then. Basically, he just wants to see his best friend again because he misses her so much.

You had to pack so you could leave tomorrow. It was definitely not gonna be easy when you arrive there. Questions from your friends about what happened in the family gathering, catching up with the lectures and lessons, preparing for exams, and most importantly, having a clingy Mingyu by your side. (which you loved ofcourse)

Guys oh my gosh hgbghgg I am a GENIUS! I've finally figured an explanation for, at the first glance, unreasonable vitriol towards Godrick in the fandom! I should have became a psychology professor for this one but don't let me get ahead of myself ok so:

Like.. This can't be the fact that Godrick literally steals peoples limbs to attach to himself, right? Rykard does a similar thing - consumes people and makes them a part of his body, as all those arms sticking out of him are those of his victims. Also both of these characters appear hard to take seriously upon introduction; "i cOmAnD tHeE KNEEL" and "tOGETHAAAA" are equally silly xd But Rykard is really loved, right?

The difference between the two might happen because Rykard is that cool badass rebel against oppressive system, whereas Godrick willingly perpetuates it. But that can't be this piece, and this also can't be Tarnished-hunting. Because another character who simps for the Golden Order and is racist Tarnished-hunts is Morgott, who is also very loved. Adored, even!

I thought maybe Godrick hit the 'disrespecting women' nerve upon insulting Malenia, which is already a sore topic in the fandom? 🤔 But this is likely not true. Not only he himself is definitely not an incel, since Grafted Scions (his children) exist, but also it is all likely an insecurity. Godrick had that line where he called Malenia and Miquella "rank and malformed" when Godrick himself could be considered a disgrace ( 🥁 ) for the Golden Bloodline with his frail, weak build. He has large insecurities that he takes out on other discriminated people, so that certainly wasn't her gender. Again, many other loved characters also disrespect us for who we are, he isn't outstanding. Nor it is him being "pathetic" for escaping the battle he could not win in disguise or kissing Malenia's feet in apology: the 'pathetic old man' is ABSOLUTELY one of the favorite men types on Tumblr and Twitter! The girls (gender neutral) LOVE the 'pathetic old man', that vibe could not have provoked the hate.

Finally, it can't be the authors intention. Miyazaki confirmed Godrick to be a sympathetic character. So, you should feel bad for his situation of continuing the glory of that imposing bloodline that he is not fit for, and NPCs that dislike him are either within their own right to do so, or straight up hypocritical (like Kenneth). Subtexts, media literacy and so on can't be used as an arguement for why Godrick would be intended as repulsive character.

So... Yeah, it seems like there is no real reason for why Godrick should always be singled out, only brought up as a laughing stock, always brought in negative and mocking context in polls and headcanons compilation and bring his fans being seen as weirdos by an effect, right? Whatever reasoning might be the first responce is very easy to debunk! I think I've finally found an actual reasonable and sympathetic explanation as to why fandom dislikes and bullies him so much more than any other character that explains EVERYTHING! I am going to go under cut as this is the result of long, meticulous thinking and this post is already getting long, so here it is:

i see this opinion echoed across the Doctor Who fandom: that we really enjoyed Maestro, and love the idea of The Devil's Chord, but feel like the episode was lacking a little something in the writing department. so here's my suggestion: they shouldn't have killed off Timothy Drake 👀🎶 hear me out:

from the start, we're introduced to Timothy Drake as a deeply talented individual, and one disgruntled with his position in life. his passion and genius have been squandered, and he's been relegated to teaching his craft to disinterested schoolboys. but we learn he has a darker interest...Timothy is a scholar as well as a composer, and he decides to spice up his day by telling his pupil about the lost Devil's Chord. and then, Maestro erupts onto the scene...and they are everything that Timothy has never been able to be. Maestro is loud, and flamboyant, and unreservedly powerful: every glittering gem on their body screams you will look at me, and you will listen. and while Timothy's polite-society conditioning and time-typical bigotry are his initial response, we can tell that Maestro intrigues him. in return, Maestro doesn't just talk to Timothy, oh no. Maestro all but seduces the man, by speaking aloud all of Timothy's most private thoughts: that he's a misunderstood genius, and that it isn't his fault he never got that break. in this way Maestro manifests as a Devil figure, luring Timothy into an unspeakable Faustian bargain. here he is, wasting his life and talent and songs away in some stuffy school...when he could have so, so much more. like Maestro, he could be powerful. he could be who he wants to be. and most importantly: he could make people listen to him. i would've loved a version of The Devil's Chord where Maestro manipulates Timothy Drake into drawing out the music of others, thereby killing them, and feeding Maestro in the process. perhaps there could have been a caveat to Maestro's power: as the Essence of Music, it could be that Maestro has to operate through a living being, much like a demonic muse. not only could Timothy get all of the attention he ever wanted, finally being recognised for his musical brilliance...but he could exact revenge on those who said he'd never make it. wouldn't this have been a fascinating parallel with The Beatles? what if we'd seen an increasingly power-mad Timothy Drake, rising to stardom in an alternate timeline where everyone is devoid of musical inspiration, leaving him as the sole musical genius in the world? what if the Doctor and Ruby's horror at a devastated world included the theme of creation for creation's sake, as opposed to the manic pursuit of adoration which Timothy so clearly desires? perhaps i have lost my mind. perhaps i am reading far too much into the way Timothy looks at Maestro in the latter half of the clip above. but i think the terror of Maestro would have come through even more if they'd kept Timothy Drake around, and trapped him in a Phantom of the Paradise-esque doomed narrative with Maestro whispering in his ear and helping him take control of his destiny 🎶🔥
