Dear Gus & Magnus,
I had a UA-Little Rock Alumni Board Meeting today, during which we heard from Travis "Tre Day" Rowan, who will be the honoree of this year's Taste of Little Rock. He's got a good story. As a military kid, he went to 13 different schools in 12 years, then landed at UALR after high school and it felt like home when he got to stay in one spot. He immediately set up a scholarship that he's been funding since he graduated. I know him from playing in his tennis tournament fundraiser, but I didn't know his story until today, which made me like him more than I already did. I'm looking forward to Taste.
After the meeting, I hit the road to Ridgeland, Mississippi, where the Video Team has been setting up to shoot our Rib & Roll video promo tomorrow.
Dad.
Little Rock, Arkansas. 2.7.2024 - 12.09pm.
SIDENOTE: We had a pretty sunrise this morning.

"Our school, our home, our choice": NCF community rallies together in response to BOT meeting
Jan. 31 proved to be a prominent date for most—if not all—of the New College community. The prospects of what the Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting could entail lingered on many minds, primarily a group of New College students, alumni and community organizations such as the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) and Women’s Voices of Southwest Florida (WVSWFL). Together, their efforts brought…

my alma mater emailed me to say they're collecting alumni profiles and one of my professors recommended me...... Bruh, oof. I may have looked like I was going someplace interesting for like, the first three years of college but now I am a web developer at a distribution center. It pays the bills and keeps me sane but I'm not exactly contributing anything cutting edge to society over here.
#i like my job just fine!! it's just not exactly star board material ya know#which I'm sure the alumni profiles are happy to have a few of the more mundane paths on display as well#just. idk. i don't have anything cool to say really#replenishment buying data is kinda cool#i guess i could talk about that

So Rick wants to show off his meetings with BJU admins, wants to dangle the prospects of a 501c3 in front of well-intentioned people, with his idea of "Fundamental Board Reform."
And collect $$. Don't forget the $$.
There's only one path forward for "board reform," Positives. I laid it out for you weeks ago.
If Rick is not doing that, he's just finding a new way to collect dues.
Be as wise as serpents, friends.

Presidential portrait of L. Rafael Reif unveiled
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/presidential-portrait-of-l-rafael-reif-unveiled/
Presidential portrait of L. Rafael Reif unveiled
A new portrait marks the legacy of L. Rafael Reif, MIT’s president from 2012 to 2022. Painted by Jon Friedman, the portrait was unveiled at a recent gathering at Gray House, where portraits of many of Reif’s predecessors also adorn the walls.
The unveiling served as something of a reunion for many MIT faculty and staff members who had worked closely with Reif at various points in his four decades at MIT, especially his decade as president. It also featured several generations of the Reif family and special friends such as cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Susan Whitehead, a life member of the MIT Corporation and life board member of the Whitehead Institute, and Ray Stata ’57, SM ’58, co-founder of Analog Devices, gave remarks honoring Reif and his impact at the Institute.
MIT President Sally Kornbluth opened the event by welcoming the audience to the president’s residence on campus.
“As we all know, Gray House belongs to the MIT community, which means that each family who lives here takes responsibility for stewarding the place for the future. Which, in a grander sense, is a pretty good way of describing what it means to be president of MIT,” she said.
Applauding the “many grand things he set in motion,” Kornbluth described several of Reif’s impactful achievements as MIT’s 17th president, such as establishing the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing, leading the revitalization of Kendall Square, and envisioning and launching The Engine, MIT’s venture firm for “tough tech.”
“Each of those achievements helped prime MIT for the future, and each one has had powerful positive effects well beyond our community too,” Kornbluth said, noting that the term “tough tech” didn’t even exist before the establishment of The Engine.
“MIT has been an exceptional place from the very start, and it has had quite a few visionary presidents. But there is no question that MIT was more exceptional when Rafael finished than when he began. And we owe him a great debt of gratitude,” Kornbluth said.
More information about the Reif presidency can be found in this article written when Reif announced his decision to step down.
After the portrait was unveiled, Ma performed a short piece by Johann Sebastian Bach on the cello. Afterward, Stata offered a comprehensive personal and historical perspective on Reif’s wide-ranging contributions to MIT and the nation, including his key role in establishing MIT’s footing in the semiconductor landscape, and in demonstrating and advocating for the critical role of academic research in advancing the development of the U.S. semiconductor sector. Whitehead followed, highlighting a range of Reif’s accomplishments during his tenure as MIT president, including establishing the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science and MIT.nano, leading the Campaign for a Better World, overseeing the redevelopment of the Volpe Center in Kendall Square, and more.
“All of the above was made possible because you are a remarkable synthesizer and builder,” she said. “We watched as you grappled with questions, listened carefully, inside and outside of MIT, and then you moved. You were bold once you had synthesized. None of the above initiatives would have happened without your decisive big thinking.”
Whitehead also praised Reif’s kindness and empathy, noting the many decisions he oversaw to promote student wellbeing at MIT and acknowledging his leadership during difficult times, such as the death of MIT Police Officer Sean Collier. She closed by reminding the crowd of the Institute-wide farewell dance party he hosted as he stepped down.
When Reif took to the podium, he thanked the speakers as well as other members of the audience, including Corporation Life Member Fariboz Maseeh ScD ’90; Reif was the inaugural holder of the Fariborz Maseeh Professorship of Emerging Technology before becoming MIT’s president. He also thanked his wife, Christine — whose own portrait, also painted by Friedman, now hangs in the Emma Rogers Room (Room 10-340) — for her support.
L. Rafael and Christine Reif stand next to his portrait. Both had portraits painted by Jon Friedman.
Reif recalled some of his favorite memories of living at Gray House, including hosting his grandchildren for sleepovers at what they called “the Castle” and partaking in a snowball fight with students on Killian Court.
“Each and every one of you influenced my thinking, gave me intellectual breadth, suffered my sense of humor, and shaped the person I became,” Reif said. “So, whatever qualities you believe you see captured in Mr. Friedman’s portrait, please realize that all of you are represented there too, in your brilliance and your goodness. It has been a tremendous privilege to be part of the MIT family for all these years.”

The website of the Columbia Law Review, one of the oldest and most prestigious legal journals in the country, has been down since Monday. At the time of this broadcast, ColumbiaLawReview.org shows a static homepage informing visitors that the site is “under maintenance.” Well, that’s not exactly true. In a stunning move, the board of directors of the Columbia Law Review decided to take down the website after the publication’s student editors refused the board’s request to halt the publication of an academic article written by Palestinian human rights lawyer Rabea Eghbariah titled “Toward Nakba as a Legal Concept.” Student editors at the Columbia Law Review say they were pressured by the journal’s board of directors to halt publication of the piece. They refused the request and published the piece online Monday morning. In response, the board, which is made up of faculty and alumni from Columbia University’s law school, shut down the law review’s website. After the website was taken down, student editors uploaded the article to a publicly accessible website, where it’s gone viral. The article begins, “The law does not possess the language that we desperately need to accurately capture the totality of the Palestinian condition. From occupation to apartheid and genocide, the most commonly applied legal concepts rely on abstraction and analogy to reveal particular facets of subordination. This Article introduces Nakba as a legal concept to resolve this tension,” unquote. The article is written by Rabea Eghbariah, a human rights lawyer completing his doctoral studies at Harvard Law School. Last November, the Harvard Law Review refused to publish a similar, shorter article it had solicited from Rabea, even after it was initially accepted, fully edited and fact-checked. In both cases, the article would have been the first time that either the Harvard Law Review or the Columbia Law Review had ever published a Palestinian legal scholar.
The video interview with Eghbariah, a transcript of the interview, and a full copy of the censored article, can be found on Democracy Now (5th of June, 2024).
Here's also a direct link to Eghbariah's article:

Silly idea I talked about ages ago with @azure7539arts, inspired by a similar event my workplace hosts every year. Would minors be allowed to participate in such an event? Probably not! But then again, it was the 80s, who can say for sure. Anyway, it's my birthday and I'll post nonsense if I want to <3
-
“I need you to buy me.”
Eddie looks up from his notebook, effectively jarred from his campaign-plotting fugue state by Steve’s declaration.
Steve is standing at the other end of the dining table, staring at him expectantly.
“Y’know, this is the part where someone usually follows up their completely bonkers demand with an explanation,” Eddie says slowly.
“At the charity auction,” Steve clarifies. “I need you to bid on me, and I need you to win.”
Ah, yes, that weird Rent-an-Athlete charity auction the school runs every year; anyone on any Hawkins High sports team could volunteer to be “auctioned” off in order to raise money for said sports team, to spend a day at the beck and call of the highest bidder (within reason, supposedly). It’s generally restricted to students, but occasionally, prominent alumni are invited to participate – and Steve certainly fits the bill, especially after the story the government spun about his heroism in the face of “serial killer” Henry Creel last spring.
“And what, deny all those pretty girls a chance to get at you?” Eddie asks drily (he’d never turned up at previous auctions himself, but you could hardly avoid gossip in a school their size; it had usually been some cheerleader bidding with daddy’s money who won a date– that is, a day with Steve Harrington).
“It wasn’t always a girl who won,” Steve says, crossing his arms over his chest. “One time it was Mrs. Dalton – you know, the lady on the school board who lives on my block? I just spent the day doing yard work for her. She gave me lemonade. That was pretty cool.”
“Right,” Eddie drawls. “And I’m sure she definitely didn’t sit outside and stare at your ass while you were working.”
“She did not– she– I mean she was on the porch, but, like– she wouldn’t have– she’s, like, seventy, Eddie,” Steve splutters, and it’s all Eddie can do not to laugh.
“Older gals have needs, too, Steve,” Eddie says, giving in to a smirk. “So she was checking you out from the porch, huh?”
Steve goes red. “Shut up, that isn’t the point. I’m trying to ask for your help.”
“Right, right, your absolutely reasonable request for me to buy you at market. Why, again?” Eddie asks.
“The kids are planning to bid on me,” Steve says gravely.
Eddie blinks at him. “Okay?” he says, when no further explanation is forthcoming. “You basically do most of what they ask, anyway, so…?”
“Okay, believe it or not, I actually say no to at least half of what they ask me to do. I would literally never get anything done if I gave in to all their demands.” Steve jabs a finger at Eddie, who holds up his hands in mock surrender. “Anyway, this is all Henderson’s fault.”
“It usually is,” Eddie agrees, nodding sagely.
“He decided that he was going to bid on me and then use that day to finally make me play your nerd game with you–” Eddie snorts, and Steve shoots him a look, “but Wheeler doesn’t want me to play, so he said he was going to bid against Dustin and make me do anything but sit in on a session with you guys.”
“So let Wheeler win.” Eddie shrugs.
“No! I can’t let fuckin’ Mike win, he’ll probably make me do something even more ridiculous!” Steve exclaims. "He’ll make me play chauffeur for him and El on a date, or something, and he’ll probably include the stupid hat.”
“Wait, I thought El broke up with him,” Eddie breaks in.
“No, they’re on again,” Steve says absently, shaking his head. “Which is why Max has been in a bad mood lately.”
Eddie bites back the reflexive need to ask “How can you tell?”, going instead with, “I thought she and Sinclair were on again.”
“No, they are. That’s why no one’s been actively murdered,” Steve says.
“How do you keep track of all of this?” Eddie asks, squinting at Steve.
“It’s a natural skill. And we’re getting off track,” Steve says quickly. “Normally, I wouldn’t be that worried, because Dustin regularly blows his savings on weird science gadgets or whatever, but then Lucas and Will started taking sides.”
“This is getting very involved,” Eddie says.
“So you see why I’m stressed!” Steve insists, smacking a hand to his forehead (personally, Eddie thinks Steve is stressed for many other reasons, but he figures pointing that out just now won’t be appreciated). “Lucas is on Dustin’s side, and that kid does odd jobs like nobody’s goddamn business; he actually has shit saved up. And usually I’d have faith in him being more, like, sensible than to spend it all on this, but the little shit is really fucking competitive.”
“Wonder who he got that from?” Eddie mutters.
“Okay, we do remember that I’m not actually biologically related to any of these idiots, right?” Steve snaps.
“Well now we’re just getting into nature versus nurture–”
“Eddie.”
“Right, sorry, continue.”
“Well, Will took Mike’s side–”
“Shocking.”
“Right? But anyway, I don’t know if the kid has much saved up, but between him and Wheeler, they might be able to win.” Steve sighs, looking far more world-weary than Eddie feels the situation really warrants.
“You know you don’t actually have to do what they ask you to, right?” Eddie points out.
Steve rolls his eyes. “If an auction winner complains to the school that the person they bid on didn’t fulfill their end of the bargain, they can get their money back. It’s a whole…” he waves his hand vaguely, “thing. Happened once when I was a sophomore; Deacon McNab. Lost a good chunk of change for the football team, and they vandalized the shit out of his car.”
“Ah, right. Forgot we went to school with literal psychopaths,” Eddie hums.
“So, I just need you to bid on me and win, so I’m not stuck wasting a Saturday on whatever the hell the kids are going to try to make me do. Or not do. Or– whatever,” Steve says.
“Okay, not that I don’t understand your predicament here, but I think you’re forgetting something kind of important, Steve,” Eddie drawls.
Steve’s brows draw together in question. “What?”
“I’m fucking poor.”
“Oh.” Steve shakes his head. “I didn’t mean– no, I will give you the money, you don’t have to spend a dime, man, I just need you to get me out of this.”
“Why not have Buckley do it?” Eddie asks.
“That was Plan A, but she actually has a date that night, and it’s kind of a big deal, so I don’t want her to cancel,” Steve says. “But I assumed you wouldn’t be busy.”
“Wow, rude,” Eddie scoffs, and Steve sighs.
“Fine, sorry, I just really hoped you wouldn’t be busy.” Steve gives him the most lethal set of puppy dog eyes Eddie has ever seen, as if there had been any chance from the beginning that he’d be able to say no. “Please?”
Just for show, Eddie lets out a long sigh, falling against his chair and letting his head flop over the backrest like he’s deflating.
“Fine.”
“Thank you,” Steve groans, sounding so genuinely relieved that Eddie almost feels bad about how quickly his thoughts dip into the realms of the inappropriate. “Oh my god, I owe you.”
Eddie glances back up at Steve, tongue darting out to wet his lips almost unconsciously. “You know I’m not as easy to appease as a couple of fifteen-year-olds, right?”
Steve’s eyes drop for just a second—maybe down to Eddie’s lips, maybe not; who can say?—before he looks back up, cocking an eyebrow at Eddie. “I think I can handle it.”
Slowly, Eddie grins. “We’ll see.”
#steddie#steve harrington#eddie munson#steve & the party#stranger things#solar wrote#this is very silly but I had fun writing it so I hope it's a fun short read#obviously Eddie does win the auction (surprisingly stiff competition; he may or may not end up throwing in a little of his own money#even though none of the kids are the top bidders at that point)#and then you can choose your own ending:#either Eddie chickens out and just asks Steve to play roadie for the band on their next gig night#but it works out in his favor anyway because he gets to spend the night watching Steve lifting and carrying and being supportive#while Steve gets to watch the band perform and is lowkey starstruck by Eddie and they smooch about it at the end of the night#OR; Eddie demands the same treatment Steve gave those cheerleaders who won a date with him back in the day#he's sort of joking but Steve takes him very seriously and takes him on a date so sweet and fun that Eddie is almost mad about#being swept off his feet by it#and at the end of the night Steve walks Eddie to his door and Eddie asks if the treatment ends here#or if Steve did anything... else for those girls#Steve; eyebrows raised: Are you asking if I slept with those girls for money?#Eddie; blanching: WAIT SHIT NO-#Steve: Nah I'm kidding. Come inside and fuck me#and Eddie does

HEEEY MACARENA (ALRIGHT!)
Here's some long overdue BP and HH asks :) I tend to combine the two since there's not as many as the RADs, so this starts with BP and then moves into HH/Gen qs.
BP
MUAH ~ (I actually doodled this some time last year for fun and whimsy, based on those long mouth kiss meme pics XD)
A very quick overview of these types!
Vescordem: Maneaters/cannibals, excessively tall and strong.
Aleores: Minor dealmakers (goods and services). Jaw can unhinge and has venomous bite.
Sollicio: Major dealmakers - soul stealing ability. Often very good looking, has ichor powers.
Voxter: Ability to project 'thoughts' into someone else's mind - you ever have an intrusive thought? Same concept. All have a unique mark across the top part of their face.
Caumacies: Maneaters/cannibals, very strong. Has a third eye which sees only in heat vision - rarely opened simultaneously with normal eyes.
Hmm M or MA15 i think 🤔
You know, i actually have an idea for a game that has nothing to do with anything I'm currently doing XD One day i'll actually have time to make it, maybe. But anyway currently my actual project is i'm planning on making a comic \o/
I AM PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE that i have thumbnailed like 70 pages of this bloody thing and i'm still only in the first quarter of the planned chapters lol OTL Once i finish thumbing the chapter I'm on I plan to go back and render the pages properly before starting to post them :D
...which should hopefully give me a buffer as i repeat the process for the next chapters |D
You know, the concept of my characs being comfort characs for someone will never get old for me. It just tickles me pink ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ This answer will have two levels to it.
It's fine to RP or ask blog with Rire - he's one of my more "known" characs thanks to BTD so as long as credit is given (and it's made clear I'm not running the blog so it's not canon) then it's cool.
I'd prefer if no ask/RP blogs are created for any of my other BP or HH characs, as they are not as known yet. This may be revisited once i actually get the BP comic out but for now it's a no, sorry! (Though, if you are RPing in like...a private Discord with other friends who know who the characs are then I'm a bit more lenient with that.)
The reason for the BP/HH level is that ages ago when I had started establishing my own characs more, I randomly happened to find a forum where someone was RPing as Izm and .D but no one else knew who the characs were and so they clearly thought the RPer was the original artist and creator. Said RPer was not dissuading anyone of that notion. That has stuck with me for forever because at the time i never anticipated that someone would...actually try and do that with an OC. Like, bro srsly?!
One pet peeve for everyone:
.D: Willfully stupid people
Izm: .D smoking. He could care less if anyone else smokes but .D is not allowed on his watch
Marcus: Having decisions made for him without his input
Zeke: "How's the weather up there?"
Wei Ren: When people think he can't understand English cos he has an accent and so they deliberately speak slower and louder
Geez Caleb why are you damn RUDE
Here's one i prepared earlier! 😌
I'm not sure why you included Marcus as a demon, he's a human lol.
HH/More Gen
There are clubs which are created by students but need approval from the adults to exist.
HH is one of the better boarding schools which generally turn out successful alumni. The "obvious problems" we see are not actually obvious lol.
He doesn't need such manipulations.
Thanks! I hope you are inspired to go forth and create stuff! :D
One of the only perks of being a prefect at HH, really :d
Absolutely not lol
↓
4. These types of qs are always amusing to me only because you guys expect me to know but i absolutely do not XDD. Do normal people actually have a fave animal?? I dont even have a fave animal!! Anyway offshoot aside sorry that i can't even randomly assign anything, but if you are interested here is what they might be AS animals lol.
They actually don't have names because they were randomly designed NPCs i drew as like, placeholders |D;
Not including Rire or Nurse Isla:
.D is asexual, Izm is bisexual, and everyone else is straight probably. Caleb and Desmond are violently straight (as in Des is like very 90s stoner bro adamantly vocal about being straight and Caleb will actually try and break your neck for insinuating anything).
I have some female characs but I dont draw them that often as they are more side characs in BP and HH. The ones ive's drawn at least once are Isla (who looks like this, also doodled above), Tish (Des's sister) and Kenzie and Kelly (Zeke's sisters).
Every once in a blue moon i get an ask saying this but whenever i go to check nothing is wrong, so...nothing is wrong they do work |D; As the age old tech saying goes have you tried turning it off and on again? :d
Aren't those kind of things supposed to be...based on yourself??

Dear Gus & Magnus,
I had my first official meeting as a member of the UA-Little Rock Alumni Association Board of Directors today. I'm on a few boards, but I'm especially proud of this one, for reasons I'm not sure I understand yet.
I have a few interesting connections to other people on this board. Connections from surprising times in my life. For instance, Heide Harrell just took over as president of the board, and we knew each other way back in junior high because we went to church camps together (and I never would have thought we'd end up living parallel-ish lives). And the guy on the left in this photo with the shaved head is Antonio Mosby. We recognized each other immediately, but neither of us could come up with how we knew each other. It hit me halfway through the meeting -- we worked together at Banana Republic 22 years ago.
Anyway, I'm glad to be a part of this board and help how I can when it comes to progressing my alma mater and higher education in our city.
I stayed late at work tonight so I could write another -- longer -- version of Papou's obituary. I'm happy with how it turned out.
Dad.
Little Rock, Arkansas. 2.8.2023 - 12.04pm.

one of my favorite things to imagine in disney twst is yuu (your character) deciding to create a school wide publication. a school digital newspaper for the students of NRC.
the dates of all the upcoming unbirthday parties + plus a nit-picky checklist and particular rules that might apply that week to help out the heartsabyul students who don’t wanna deal with “having their head off”
constant updates of the week’s spell drive tournaments and games , + scoreboard for the season, as well as additional info about scouts and recruiters coming to visit said games to encourage the student athletes to reach out and do their best in hopes of their sports career, even a leader board + and mvps so far
monstro lounge’s weekly specialties and deals as well as hiring info incase students want to earn some extra money on campus, and how to contact azul if you’re from another dorm
reminders of important dates on the lunar calendar for both werebeastmen and scarabia students + the newest imports from foreign lands in sam’s shop that might make their dorm feel more like home
news about the newest fashion trends and movies + plus a gossip column that has features on particular students. it’s worded in a riddle, and all names are anonymous so the student body spends awhile trying to figure out who it’s about
new game releases, paired with student options on difficulty and enjoyment. students handles will be tagged allowing for their streams to reach a larger audience + showcases of student art
history on NRC and spooky stories that will be fun to theorize about. legends of trapped souls on campus ground and interviews from alumni and what they think of it or if they were witness to the history
you can also find info about clubs and their recruitment and how to join, when the housewardens will have another meeting with eachother so you can voice your ideas to them in hopes it will be brought up, dates for large student study sessions and after school help, dates for “leaked” pop quizzes or even large tests that you might’ve forgotten were gonna be later that week. tickets and shows to student performances even dumb quizzes to pass the time. you can find all staff emails and how to even duel your house warden to take their spot. but for some reason that tab doesn’t have a lot of viewers.
this digital publication keeps the student body of NRC well informed and is popularly visited, only gaining more traction as the school year goes on. so ofc students have been trying to figure out who’s been behind it.
all the crisp photos of the spell drive players, the leaked dates of tests, the gossip, sam’s stock. how’s one person able to get the news before anyone else is? no way azul would sign a contract with them, plus even azul doesn’t have access to all this info. if only he had some sneaky eels who love to be as slippery as they are in the water, above ground. or a few ghost friends able to go through walls and overhear things they probably shouldn’t. maybe sam IS in on it, wanting to spread awareness about his goods so he makes profit. even a cat small enough to sneak around when bribed with enough tuna could help out. plus a killer camera from the headmaster. maybe crowley knows what’s going on but is letting things play out. so far it hasn’t gone too far. plus. who would suspect the prefect from another dimension? they have a hard enough time as is. no way they’d be able to keep up.

Why Professor Aaron Hillegass rescinded a $600,000 donation and publicly resigned
Interim Director of Applied Data Science, author and alum Aaron Hillegass (‘91) arrived at New College in January, ready to begin his teaching career at the campus. One day later, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that six and later seven new members would be joining the New College Board of Trustees (BOT), changing the course of the college Hillegass once knew. The enthusiastic Hillegas had just…

It was always there.
Before Wednesday even began at Nevermore the rumors already existed, that the new normie student was a psychopath who murdered two students at her previous school, that she was only excepted into Nevermore because her parents were rich alumni.
Enid was all for gossip - she had a literal blog dedicated to it - but the things people were saying about the new girl put a sour taste in her mouth.
Then Enid found out the girl would be her own roommate.
Then Enid met Wednesday.
And oh, was she harsh, and volatile, rude, and cruel.
Enid was confused though, the girl had a softness about her and Enid was apparently one of the only people who could see it.
Wednesday acted like she couldn't stand her parents, but Enid could see a glimmer in her eyes. She watched Wednesday fiddle with the necklace her mother had given her, in the quiet of their room when Wednesday thought that no one was watching. Wednesday was harsh towards Thing, but she would do anything to protect him. Wednesday enjoyed making her murder board and she moved it from their room when looking at it made Enid faint. Wednesday apologized to Thing when Enid had told her to, Wednesday had scared off bullies for picking on Eugene.
Wednesday threatened to hurt Ajax if he ever hurt Enid, Wednesday had FUN dancing at the rave’n, Wednesday pouted when the blood falling from the ceiling wasn't blood but paint.
Enid saw her. Enid saw her softness, saw Wednesday caring, saw Wednesday excited, happy, she knew that Wednesday had feelings. She knew that Wednesday could love so deeply.
Enid knew that Wednesday was afraid of showing it because she had been hurt badly in the past.
Of course Enid saw Wednesday. Wednesday saw Enid too.
Enid saved Wednesday's life.
Wednesday gave Enid her confidence back. Wednesday helped Enid to realize that her worth was not tied to her capability. For all that Wednesday was; harsh, cruel, and rude, she was also so good. She had a skewed sense of justice - but it was a strong one.
For all that Wednesday acted like she didn't care what others thought of her, and while that was mostly true, it really did affect her sometimes. Nobody saw it, Wednesday was nothing if not skilled at hiding herself, Enid would always see her. Enid always knew.
It wasn't long after the beginning of second semester when Enid snapped.
She was walking along the hallway when some student, who Enid couldn’t even remember the name of, called Wednesday a “psycho bitch”.
It was an off handed comment to his friend, he probably didn’t even realize that he would be overheard, but oh Enid was so done.
She was so done.
It wasn’t even a full ten seconds after the words had left his mouth, before Enid had him pinned against the wall by his throat. Her claws dancing around the delicate skin over his jugular.
He sputtered and gasped, trying to catch his breath despite Enid’s palm pressing down on his throat. She could see the fear in his green eyes.
Enid considered dark brown. Dark brown eyes that looked almost black in the dark of their shared dorm room. Dark brown eyes that looked nearly golden in sunlight.
Dark eyes that Enid has seen full of tears on that night they had almost died together. Dark eyes that sparkled with mischief before Enid found herself regretting her decisions.
Enid could never really regret anything, as long as those eyes would look at her.
Enid could feel the boy’s pulse under her hand, she could feel his ragged breathing. She could feel hands on her shoulders, trying to pull her back.
“Leave her name out of your mouth” Enid growled, her voice so low and harsh that she couldn’t even recognize it. She scraped her claws down his throat, blood beaded at the surface, following her fingers. It was just a little scratch, it was only a warning. “Understand?”
He whimpered.
“Do you understand me?”
“Yes” He said, his voice broken and meek. She let him go, he sunk down the wall before fumbling to run away- away from Enid. Nobody has ever looked at her like that before.
He looked at her like she was dangerous, something to be feared.
She knew that she should feel bad about that, it would make sense for her to regret what she had just done - someone behind her was speaking and she couldn’t pay them any mind - she didn’t regret it one bit. His blood was still running down her claws, she popped it into her mouth and hummed.

After completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from Bob Jones University, Charles continued to pursue his academic aspirations and earned a Master’s degree. Recognizing his unwavering commitment to spreading the word of God and his exceptional contributions to the field of ministry, Bob Jones University bestowed upon him an honorary doctorate degree.
Charles’s dedication to his calling as a minister was truly awe-inspiring. For 45 years, he tirelessly served numerous Baptist churches across Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia. His sermons not only inspired those who listened but also instilled hope and faith in their hearts. His profound spiritual insights resonated deeply with congregations far and wide.
In addition to his pastoral duties, Charles exhibited remarkable versatility in his ministry work. In recent years leading up to his passing, Charles also served as Chaplain for Marketplace Ministries—an organization dedicated to providing support and spiritual guidance to those in the workplace.

He also found great fulfillment in participating in the Senior Olympics, where he demonstrated his athleticism and determination.
Throughout his lifetime, Charles achieved many notable accomplishments, but nothing compared to the day he received Jesus as his savior at the age of 17. This transformative event set the course for his life’s work and shaped him into the compassionate and dedicated minister he became. Another noteworthy accomplishment was his role as President of the Golfview Estates Home Owner’s Association, where he worked diligently to foster a strong sense of community among its residents.
