Althea Bare Essentials Skincare Review. (Contour Cleanser, Primer Water & Fixer Cream)
To my fellow K-Beauty lovers out there, how many steps do you incorporate in your daily skincare routine? 8? 10? 15?! If you ask me, I go by the 8-step Korean skincare routine. I double cleanse, I use serums, peeling gels, mask sheets, night packs, ampoules..you name it. It may seem crazy to do all these on a daily basis but because I don’t have great skin to begin with, I need to pay extra attention to at least, keep my skin at its healthiest state.
I’m no stranger to Korean cosmetics brands coming up with the weirdest skincare products from time to time. In a span of one month, Korean brands release a ton of skincare products to the point that I don’t even know where to squeeze a particular product in my routine. That’s K-Beauty norm for you!
So when Althea, a Korean brand, told me that they are releasing a 3-step Korean skincare set, I was like, wait WHUT? Just 3 products to complete your Korean skincare routine? Now that’s strange.
The concept behind the Althea Bare Essentials is to simplify skincare. The goal of the set is to give the skin what it really needs sans all complicated skincare steps.
I honestly have high expectations for Althea’s Bare Essentials skincare set, the second line of products they released under their private label. It’s because the first one, Althea Petal Velvet Powder, became my makeup holy grail. It’s so good, it actually set the bar pretty high! So I used the Althea Bare Essentials 3-Step Skincare set for a month and here’s what I think.
BARE ESSENTIALS CONTOUR CLEANSER (150g, 300php)
Key Ingredients: Ice Plant, Lemon Verbena Leaf
What it does: The Contour Cleanser is densely filled with micro capsules that burst upon contact with water to gently cleanse, exfoliate, and detoxify skin. It also helps promote blood circulation, and reduces bloating and swelling for a defined, enviably slim face shape.
My first comment about the cleanser is that it smells wonderful. I like its fresh, clean scent to the point that I’d like it to be a body wash! Honestly, I’ve grown to love cleansers that don’t lather up (like Physiogel and Cetaphil), so I haven’t been using foam cleansers for a long while. Althea’s Contour Cleanser foams up like mad and it feels good on the skin. I won’t say that I’m a huge fan but I like the fact that it does what it needs to do. It leaves my skin clean and gets rid of makeup traces very well, but it’s nothing very special.
I’m not sure with the “contouring” part just yet because I probably need to use it for another month to really see results. Last time I checked, my face shape still looks the same, rich with chunky jaws hehe! But yeah, it cleanses up my skin well without stripping it off of its natural oils. After rinsing, my skin feels soft and there’s this noticeable sheen on it that implies moisture infusion. It’s a 4/5 for me.
BARE ESSENTIALS PRIMER WATER (200ml, 550php)
Key Ingredients: Snow Lotus, Patented Dewdrop Technology
What it does: A smooth, hydrating and ever so slightly balm-like toner that penetrates into the layers of the skin to plump it up, prepping the skin and making it a smooth canvas for products to come.
This is my FAVORITE in the bunch. Toners are a big deal for me because I know that the rest of my skincare products will hugely rely on it. The Primer Water feels like a toner, a serum and a hydrating primer in one. I know, it’s awesome! It’s not like any other toners that only feel like water or alcohol (ew no)!
On the contrary, it gives a plump, dewy finish similar to my favorite serum from Laneige. Actually, this toner makes me feel like I don’t have to put anything else - it’s that good! Additionally, my makeup applies effortlessly with the Primer Water under it. If there’s one skincare product you really need to try this year, it’s this one! An easy 5/5 for me!
BARE ESSENTIALS FIXER CREAM (50g, 640php)
Key Ingredients: Trehalose, Green Tea, Baobab Tree
What it does: The Fixer Cream features powerful moisturizing properties that provides the skin with hydration for up to 24 hours for a fresh, revitalized complexion.
A non-greasy moisture cream is always a win. Especially to those living in a hot and humid country like the Philippines, heavy and greasy moisture creams are a huge no-no. Althea’s Fixer Cream provides hydration without leaving any trace of grease and heaviness. As I massage it into my skin, it gets absorbed in a matter of seconds and all I’m left with is this healthy-looking sheen on my skin.
I can’t really speak for those with super dry skin but as for me, who’s got an army of oil underneath my pores, I believe the Fixer Cream works wonders on oily skin. I can feel that it infuses hydration beneath and not merely on the surface of my skin. Just like the toner, it makes a great companion for my base makeup products!
TEXTURE:
Contour Cleanser - very creamy and foams up heavily. Not a huge fan because I prefer foamless cleansers.
Primer Water - a bit thick for toner, but feels perfectly lightweight. It’s not too runny that you can actually apply it with your bare hands.
Fixer Cream - thick, applies smoothly. A little goes a long way!
OVERALL THOUGHTS:
I love the concept of the Bare Essentials set. It’s simple and you get the efficiency you’re looking for a cleanser-toner-cream combo. Will it convert me to cutting my K-skincare routine to 3 steps? No. I don’t think I can! haha! What I’ll do is squeeze them in to my usual 8-step routine.
This set would ma a great match to those who want to try Korean skincare but are not willing to invest in more than 10 different products. It’s simple and the products do what they need to do so it’s definitely worth a try. For me, personally, I’d like you to get yourself the Primer Water. I mean, it’s crazy good and it’s such a steal at its price.
Have you tried this set from Althea already? Would you go for 3-steps or 10? I wanna know how you guys do your Korean skincare rituals!

ALTHEA HAUL
Last Thursday, I got my package from Althea Korea. This is already my third time to order from them. I just love Althea because their prices are cheaper compared to the other stores since the products are directly from Korea plus they have a variety of Korean brands and products to choose from.
I was actually surprised that I got it really fast. The first time I ordered it took a week before it arrived and on my second one it took almost two weeks. I ordered this one last August 5 and it arrived after 5 days. The good thing about Althea is that you don’t have to claim your parcel at the post office since they ship it directly to your house. And if you order 999php and above worth of items you don’t have to pay any shipping fee.
Lately, I’ve really been into skin care and make-up. I’ve been trying out new products to help maintain my skin and keep it fresh, soft and moisturized. And I’m also learning how to put makeup so one by one I’m starting to invest on some makeup items. For my skin care, I only use Korean products. Idk but I just love it. I think they got some of the best products out there for skin care. While for makeup, I use both Korean and like Western brands.
First on my haul is the sheet mask from the brand MOKSHA. This is actually not the usual sheet mask that I order. I used to buy the PACKage everyday bouncy facial mask. But it wasn’t on sale that time and costs 100php each pack so I decided to try out a different one. I got it for only 51php and purchased 5 sheets. I wanted to purchase more but it wouldn’t let me. I think you can only order 5 of each kind of mask sheet.
I actually got to try it out last night and I felt so good afterwards. My skin felt tighter, softer and well-hydrated. It was so refreshing plus it smells really good. Would probably buy this again on my next haul. I just love sheet masks.
Another product that I got is this Oatmeal Peeling Gel from the brand CALMIA. I super love Calmia’s products! I bought their oatmeal cleansing tissue before and use it sometimes as a makeup wipe and I also got to try out their oatmeal cleansing foam which I’m still currently using and is my favorite foam to use. I’ve been seeing good reviews about their peeling gel so I decided to give it out a try as well.
This product get rids of dead cells and takes care of blackheads. It also helps for you to have a cleaner and clearer skin and keeps it moisturized. I have yet to try it out and I do hope that it will work out well for my skin. So I got this one for only 250php which for me is such a great deal.
The next item on my list is Nature Republic’s Aloe Vera Soothing Gel Mist. I’ve read so much good things about this product. It’s sold out most of the time at Althea’s site but luckily, I was able to purchase one this time. I used it this morning and didn’t put any make up on. I’ve been pampering myself since last night and wanted my skin to like breathe a little so I didn’t use any makeup products except for eyebrow pencil and lipstick.
I love this product because it doesn’t feel sticky. My skin felt fresh, hydrated and moisturized afterwards. It also has that dewy effect on the skin. This one I was able to get at 260php.
Moving on to makeup products/tools. I also got myself this It’s My Magic Sponge from It’s My Puff. I got it for 110php. I just love using sponges when applying my foundation and concealer rather than using a brush. I feel like the effect of using a sponge is better than using a foundation brush. The product looks more blended and not cake-y.
And since I’ve been really into makeup lately, I got myself a primer. This is from the brand Milky Dress and its called Trill Beige Silky Velvet Primer. This one costs 300php. So I guess this will now be a part of my makeup routine. I’ve been watching quite a lot of makeup tutorials and vlogs based on what I saw that putting primer on your face before applying any makeup products makes a difference. I do have a large pores so this will help so seal them. It also helps smoothen the makeup and make them stay longer on your face.
So the last on my item is this Clean Spot Corrector from The Face Shop. This costs 247php. I bought this one because I do have some blemishes and acne scars on my face that I wanted to reduce or like “erase”. After putting a toner on my face I did apply it on my concerned areas. Let’s see if it will have a good result after a week or two maybe.
So that’s it for my Althea Haul. Will probably do a review on the items once I got to try them all out. All in all, I spent 1,270php for all the items. I was able to get a discount code so it lessened my bill. You might also wanna check out their site and browse on their products. They have a variety of items and brands that you can choose from plus its cheaper compared to buying on a physical store. :-)

TONYMOLY The Chok Chok Green Tea No-Wash Cleansing Water Review
I’ll post reviews about all the Korean products I bought (some are from the physical stores available in our country [Philippines], but most of them are from Althea Korea).
DISCLAIMER: All the products are bought and reviews are made based on my personal experience.
So lemme start with Cleansing Water.
CLEANSING WATER, or Micellar Water, is basically water that's infused with tiny oil molecules, called micelles, that absorb dirt and oil versus smearing them around your face. On top of that, it's a three-in-one product that is a cleanser, a makeup remover and a toner that can be used on all skin types (even sensitive). (https://www.newbeauty.com/blog/dailybeauty/6830-the-beauty-of-cleansing-water/)
I have tried local brands like Maybelline and Garnier, but this one is a must-have 😊
This is how it looks,
It says that it contains 100% Pure Green Tea Ferment Extract.
The cleansing water contains tbe moisture of fermented green tea cultivated by sunlight, wind and nature throughout four seasons.
It is also 300mL.
THE TEST:
TADAAAAH!
In just one swipe, the makeup swatches were gone! I didn’t even put a pressure on it. Isn’t it amazing? 😀 I also tried it on my face. It instantly removed the make up and lipstick especially the brow liner! Wag ka ng lalabas after mo gumamit nito, kilay is life. 😂😂😂
MY FINAL THOUGHTS:
💜💜💜💜
4 of 4 hearts.
PACKAGING: It’s transparent and plastic so it’s not too heavy. And upon opening it, the seal is very secured.
SCENT: It smells mild green tea which I like.
EFFECT: No irritation on my skin/ harsh feeling. Does the job well.
COST-BENEFIT: Value for money since it is a big size already and a really good cleansing water.
So for those who love green tea, and needs a makeup remover/moisturizer, you may try this one 😘💕
Hope this helps!

Althea A’Bloom Collection Review (Face Masks, Meringue Puffs, BHA Blackhead Blaster)
If you’re a K-Beauty enthusiast like me, you sure know what Althea is by now. Althea used to be just an online marketplace where you can get a vast variety of Korean beauty brands, but in the recent years, Althea has been releasing product innovations under its private label. Late last month, Althea launched their newest A’Bloom Collection.
The collection features ultra-soft beauty sponges, a blackhead blaster and - take a deep breath - 20-peso (that’s less than half a dollar!) natural mask sheets!! How insane is that very affordable price point? Well, the masks are what excites me the most so let’s start with them!
A’Bloom Mask Variants
PRICE: 20php each
AC-ME-PEACH - contains Peach Extract and Tea Tree Leaf Extract to combat acne and redness.
AVO-CUDDLE-ME - features Adenosine, Avocado Fruit Extract and Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower extract to nourish and protect the skin against aging.
WATER-ME-LONG - contains Watermelon Fruit Extract and Lavender Extract to provide superior hydration deep within the skin, keeping it looking glowy and healthy the entire day.
SPARKLE-ME-BRIGHT - features Niacinamide, Lemon Extract, Lime Extract and Camella Sinensis Extract to effectively brighten up dull skin by gently exfoliating the dead layer of skin.
As of writing this review, I have already used all of the masks I have here. I’m just waiting for Althea to restock for me to get my K-Beauty face mask fix! After testing four of these variants out, I have to say that they really do what they’re supposed to do. All of them are very moisturizing and what I love most about them is that they don’t end up extremely sticky.
Sparkle-Me-Bright Lemon is my favorite variant because I feel like it’s the most refreshing among the four. The mask sheet clings onto the skin really well, too.
Meringue Puffs
PRICE: Giant Puff - 100php per piece; Baby Puffs by 3s - 140php
The Meringue puffs are basically beauty sponges used for applying cream, liquid or powder type makeup. They’re all made from high density latex-free foam that makes them extremely soft and gentle on the skin.
Blending is super easy with these Meringue puffs! I won’t say they’re better than the OG Beauty Blender but this one makes a great alternative as it’s affordable and it performs really well especially on textured skin like mine. Because of its density and softness, I can easily work with it wet or dry. Works very well with powder, too! I personally like using the Baby Meringue Puff to apply my Althea Petal Velvet Powder under my eyes.
BHA Blackhead Blaster
PRICE: 200php (8g)
This should be every oily skin girl’s go-to skincare! I’ve seen this type of blackhead stick in the K-Beauty world a thousand times but I just never gave it a shot. I just never believed it works! But well well, this one works great in getting rid of excessive sebum, blackheads and whiteheads. This stick contains natural BHA derived from White Willow Bark. It also has Apricot Seed Extract, Tea Tree Oil and Charcoal which all work in complete synergy to purify the pores.
The results depend on how much blackheads you’re dealing with. I personally don’t have much problem with blackheads but excessive oil on my nose, chin and forehead area is quite bad. I use this every night as a part of my skincare routine and I noticed a significant improvement regarding the presence of my black heads after 3 uses. It also helped control oil on my problematic areas despite the very hot and humid weather.
I really love the fact that Althea keeps on coming up with new things under their brand! For the A’Bloom Collection, I’d recommend for you to try them all as I believe there’s no harm trying them considering how affordable they are! But if I really have to pick one to recommend, that’d be the face masks!
Have you tried anything from this collection?

Move over SK-II FTE?! MISSHA First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist Review
This review will be very brief. If you were following me for quite some time, you would know how much I love SK-II Facial Treatment Essence. It has changed my skincare game, BIGTIME. My face would not survive this world without it. Pak! Ganern. Ganon katindi.
I got the MISSHA First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist (2016 NEW) from Althea Korea Philippines. Read how my first Althea shopping experience here. I was SO excited to try the MISSHA FTE. I was hoping to get a dupe for my SK-II FTE because, well, we all know SK-II is not cheap.
I used the MISSHA FTE for a good solid month. Used it day and night. I noticed that it was great in controlling oil on my T-zone. I was not blotting (my face) much when I was using it. Sadly, it was not able to prevent the pimples from coming.
Yep. I was breaking out during the time that I used MISSHA FTE. At first, small bumps started appearing on the sides of my face and on my chin area. Then these bumps slowly turned into pimples. And I said to myself, nope. I could not do this to myself. I struggled hard to keep my face pimple free for the longest time. I was not letting MISSHA ruin it for me. I started using MISSHA FTE less and less, only once a day. I made it part of my day time skincare routine because it was good at controlling my oil. But the pimples and blemishes kept on coming. And I decided not to use it anymore.
In the end, MISSHA FTE could not replace my SK-II FTE. It is not a dupe for it. Well, not for me. But what I can tell you is that it did a good job of controlling my face oil production. In case you do not have any facial issues other than being oily, try the MISSHA FTE. I am selling mine here if you are interested to try it. Your skin might love it.
Have you used MISSHA FTE? What are your thoughts about it?

Althea Korea Unboxing and Review
The internet gets handier day by day and I’m seriously amazed by it - like for instance, being able to buy things online. Imagine the convenience it extends, really. Phenomenal!
Well, annyeong haseyo!
My inner Korean heart is sooo happy because last time, I got to receive a package from an online K-beauty shopping destination that ships 100% authentic popular K-beauty products right to your doorsteps - Althea Korea and I’m pretty much impressed with the smooth transaction plus goodies I got to try, which I am excited to share with you guys!
So, after school that day, I came home to a pink pack that’s quite heavy. Even the pack is so cute! I saw an Althea logo and I felt that my heart skipped a tiny beat because aaah! Really, it’s from Seoul, Korea and it rained me heart-eyes emoji! A proud moment because actually, it was my first ever international blogger mail and I can’t contain my feels!
Enough of the drama because I know y'all wanna know the goodies.
Two beautifully curated boxes stunned me because yeah, I got a separate product by the way.
Part of Althea Korea is apart from single products, you can also buy from a variety of salad box that contain mixed goodies called Beauty Box and the price is absolutely fair. I chose the Head-To-Toe Box (Editor’s Pick) because it features an array of products that will treat my literal whole self. Here they are:
1. Mise-en-scence Perfect Serum Treatment and Shampoo
People with damaged hair! This pair is perfect and exclusive for you! Nourish the hair damage that came from heat, colorings and excessive treatment. Infused with 7x Perfect Oil and Micro Protein, this pair can make thy crowning glory healthy and bouncy.
Who doesn’t want healthy, right? This pair gave me respect to the brand because it exceeded my expectations! Hands off!
2. Nature Republic: Nature Olive Scalp Cooling Hair Pack
This is one of my favorites because of the cooling sensation! A perfect scalp treatment, y'all! It has a peppermint leaf extract that gives a soothing effect with refreshing scent. After shampoo, just dispense a quarter-sized amount onto palm, apply on scalp using fingertips and massage thoroughly. Then leave it on for 5-10 minutes and wash off with water. Nourished scalp and hair achieved! To be honest, after using this, my hair got brought to life again. Amazing!
I’ve heard about Nature Republic before, thanks to binge-watching Kdrama and fanning over EXO, who were promoters of the brand :) I guarantee you, this is worth every penny!
3. Skin & Lab White Vita-C Essence
Dedicated to brighter and smoother skin by high concentration of vital charge source and vitamin derivatives is this baby. Skin & Lab is not just another cosmetic brand but realization of true science based on plenty of research experience. All products of Skin & Lan are designed to provide solution for healthy skin. Hmm, can’t wait to see results using this serum! I’m deeply in love with the smell!
4. CLIO Pro Eye Palette Quad_01 Amber Slip
Oh my! I can now create my own makeup look with gorgeous color payoff. The formula’s upgraded, smooth pigments blend into skin seamlessly. It creates a beautiful, professional makeup look with added lasting power. This got my back, because neutral colors I love are in one. Each shade has some glitters so I don’t worry for day or night event lewk!
5. Angel Factory Underarm White Peeling Perfume
Set the hassle aside when getting rid of armpit hair because this one’s a solution! It also gives a long-lasting scent that girls especially lazy ones would love! The application is easy: Wipe out one armpit with a mask side of pad and clean it again with a cotton side of pad then apply the white cream after it’s completely absorbed. Then repeat to the other.
6. The Choute Hot Body Salt Scrub
Polish thy body skin with the power of sea salt. Rub and buff for supple, healthy-looking skin. This is known for getting rid of cellulite which makes it a great deal. It also contains cranberry seed that helps remove dead skin cells.
I did feel its hot sensation, literally. At first I got a little scared because I thought I was burning. Good thing that after shower, it’s being gone slowly and I thought this would be best used during cold days!
7. W Lab Change Foot Peeling Pack
At the end of the day, it’s time to comfort the feet. This features some sock masks that can instantly offer powerfully exfoliated, baby butt-smooth feet! Perfect for sloughing off calluses and dead skin cells for restoration of softness in thy feet.
8. LaBellona Perfect Hair Care Essence Oil Complex
This is the separate product I was talking about.
Anything good for my hair, please. This essential features a high-enriched oil care. Formulated with vitamins from Rose Hip Oil plus Horse Oil that helps in recovering damaged hair. The smell is heavenly!
Hair oil like this is such a necessity because most of the time, due to severe treatments, out hair starts to lose the right amount of natural oil it needs.
In fact, this is promising! I think this one is about 2k but is on sale at 920 pesos.

ECOMMERCE WEBSITE DESIGN TIPS
One of the most successful websites in today’s time is eCommerce websites. If you frequent Amazon, IKEA, and any other major brand, they will most certainly have a website, but what makes an eCommerce website different is its ability to give to the customers the liberty to choose what they want and to see it for themselves through your website. eCommerce websites have now become a huge hit in many countries. In the Philippines alone, there has been a boom in the industry within the last couple of years. Major players like Lazada, BeautyMNL, Althea Korea, Shopee, Zalora, and many more have been permeating in the Philippine market because they see potential in their online market. If you’re thinking about making your website eCommerce websites, we’ve found a few tips that can guide you in making this switch. Check out our list down below.
Easy navigation
Easy navigation. If you’re going to ask yourself how you’re going to make this happen, it’s easy; just keep your search bar within reach at all times, and be sure it’s there for every page. Why? It’s because customers want everything within reach, they want everything laid out for them. If you place a search bar within your pages at all times, it’s is very likely that they will utilize this to locate products they saw 2 days ago, but can’t remember the name of except the words “pink hat”. This will lead to better navigation within the site and your customers will be grateful.
Quality images
eCommerce isn’t anything but having your products bought by online customers, and the best way to advertise your products is by providing your customers with high-quality photos that will show the details of your product. Choose photos that are vibrant and are eye-catching, because most likely, these will be the products your customers will put their attention to. Don’t settle for mediocre photos that are grainy and blurred. Good quality photos also enhance the image of your brand. By having great photos, your brand/business looks more credible and more reliable in comparison to businesses who have lousy photos.
Offer “doubt”
Customers are known for being fickle minded. There are physical store buyers who pick up a product more than 7 times just because they’re having second thoughts about it. Don’t be inconsiderate and offer the same convenience to your customers. What makes this effective is that you’re offering them more liberty to do what they want, on their own terms. A well-designed eCommerce website should have a “back” button, a “remove from cart” button, “delete from wishlist” button and more just so your customers won’t be pressured into making a final decision right away. They will better appreciate this because they know that they can always go back to your website to purchase the product they placed in their cart 6 times yesterday. Without this option, your customers might get turned off by the fact that you’re not giving them the freedom to do what they want.
Give your customers what they want
Your customers are looking to the internet for answers and you should be there to have it for them. You can try and apply filters for your products that way your customers can easily zone into what they want from you.
Update it constantly
The tricky thing about an eCommerce website is that you’re offering products. What that means is that eventually, stocks will run out until you finally restock items, or when there’s a seasonal item and then you have to pull it out after the season ends, all these things are what you have to look out for when handling an eCommerce website. Updating your site constantly will be the best things to do to avoid any errors, also keeping it in check regularly on the backend will prevent it from crashing, slow loading time, and bugs.
SEO
Integrating SEO or Search Engine Optimized content on your eCommerce website can boost your site’s visibility on Google. The more optimized your content is, Google will most likely take this as a business that offers products that people actually look for. Once Google realizes that your content holds information that its user look for, they will pull you up the search ranking and may just give you a spot in their top page. SEO is something that can be provided by a skilled web design team if you don’t know how to do it yourself. Best to look for a team that can offer it at a fair rate, but has expertise in doing projects related to this. A successful eCommerce website cannot we achieved overnight, it takes time, dedication, hard work, and a whole lot of investment. But then again, it becomes all worth it in the end when you see your customers come back for more and see your site rank. Invest in a good eCommerce website and see your business grow. Get the help of a professional web design team to help you achieve your goals. Artzap Studio is a small group of creatives who have expertise in web design and development.
