I noticed how I never see photos of goths with mobility aids so I am being photos of goth with mobility aids.

I could not figure out the doohicky to the hacking to the main frame to get a photo of myself actually using my cane so this was the best I could manage. I fear my hands cannot manage such an act and I am still not entirely sure if I believe in the concept of cameras *ye olde honking*

And thy annual reminder, that mobility aids or visible indicators of disability don’t make you not goth. Scars, speech impairments, mobility aids, sensory issues that make it so you can’t wear “gothic” makeup or clothes, anything of the like do not make you less goth. Disabled people are part of the goth subculture.

(I am a minor do not sexualise me, inappropriate behaviour will be blocked and reported. This should go without saying but this is not a sexual post in the slightest).

people who are new to alternative subcultures, i want you to know that you're allowed to listen to music outside of your subculture.

you're allowed to listen to rap, or pop, or even classical music- and it doesn't make you any less alternative.

i can guarantee you that 100% of the time the bands/artists you listen to don't listen to strictly the same kind of music they make.

having a diverse music taste doesn't make you a poser, and only listening to a certain style of music doesn't make you better then someone else.

The other day a friend asked me about the political ideals of goth and it has had me thinking and I have decided that goth in its nature is art.

It values the creation of art without societal constraints and bigoted ideals that restrict true creation. Exploring and learning to love what is considered macabre or morbid. As an offshoot of punk it is about escaping the restraint of filtering the aspects of oneself in order to not be disturbing to our society. It’s about throwing everything out to the world whether that be alternative music, poetry or prominent eyeliner.

Goth music and literature explores deep emotional expression through guttural and gory imageries, dark sound and human fear, its about acknowledging what frightens us in order to create and be in full trueness.

Bigotry is against the nature of goth as true art is created when all people can be a part of it as who they truly are. That is why I think a person cannot be racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexiest or any other kind of discriminatory and also be goth. It goes against what goth is built off and what it represents

Goth holds many of the same political views as punk, however I find by seeing the recurring themes and messages in goth media, literature and music it centres around identity and therefore art in all trueness, regardless of how society reacts or whether it is frightening. That and copious amounts of melodrama.

(Let me know your thoughts, these are just my observations).

thinking about the absolute relic of a hat that i forgot i even had, that was shoved into the back of my closet. it was one of the 3-in-1 animal hat/scarf/glove hats, except it was neon green and black zebra print.

the fur on it is super matted, and it hasn't been washed in years so i didn't take a picture- but i literally can't find a picture anywhere online, and i don't have any pictures of me wearing it.

i was going through a phase where i didn't let anyone take pictures of me because i thought it was embarrassing, when i had gotten the hat. i honestly might try washing and wearing it again, it would go great with my back o-ring skirt.
