25 ways to be a little more punk in 2025
Cut fast fashion - buy used, learn to mend and/or make your own clothes, buy fewer clothes less often so you can save up for ethically made quality
Cancel subscriptions - relearn how to pirate media, spend $10/month buying a digital album from a small artist instead of on Spotify, stream on free services since the paid ones make you watch ads anyway
Green your community - there's lots of ways to do this, like seedbombing or joining a community garden or organizing neighborhood trash pickups
Be kind - stop to give directions, check on stopped cars, smile at kids, let people cut you in line, offer to get stuff off the high shelf, hold the door, ask people if they're okay
Intervene - learn bystander intervention techniques and be prepared to use them, even if it feels awkward
Get closer to your food - grow it yourself, can and preserve it, buy from a farmstand, learn where it's from, go fishing, make it from scratch, learn a new ingredient
Use opensource software - try LibreOffice, try Reaper, learn Linux, use a free Photoshop clone. The next time an app tries to force you to pay, look to see if there's an opensource alternative
Make less trash - start a compost, be mindful of packaging, find another use for that plastic, make it a challenge for yourself!
Get involved in local politics - show up at meetings for city council, the zoning commission, the park district, school boards; fight the NIMBYs that always show up and force them to focus on the things impacting the most vulnerable folks in your community
DIY > fashion - shake off the obsession with pristine presentation that you've been taught! Cut your own hair, use homemade cosmetics, exchange mani/pedis with friends, make your own jewelry, duct tape those broken headphones!
Ditch Google - Chromium browsers (which is almost all of them) are now bloated spyware, and Google search sucks now, so why not finally make the jump to Firefox and another search like DuckDuckGo? Or put the Wikipedia app on your phone and look things up there?
Forage - learn about local edible plants and how to safely and sustainably harvest them or go find fruit trees and such accessible to the public.
Volunteer - every week tutoring at the library or once a month at the humane society or twice a year serving food at the soup kitchen, you can find something that matches your availability
Help your neighbors - which means you have to meet them first and find out how you can help (including your unhoused neighbors), like elderly or disabled folks that might need help with yardwork or who that escape artist dog belongs to or whether the police have been hassling people sleeping rough
Fix stuff - the next time something breaks (a small appliance, an electronic, a piece of furniture, etc.), see if you can figure out what's wrong with it, if there are tutorials on fixing it, or if you can order a replacement part from the manufacturer instead of trashing the whole thing
Mix up your transit - find out what's walkable, try biking instead of driving, try public transit and complain to the city if it sucks, take a train instead of a plane, start a carpool at work
Engage in the arts - go see a local play, check out an art gallery or a small museum, buy art from the farmer's market
Go to the library - to check out a book or a movie or a CD, to use the computers or the printer, to find out if they have other weird rentals like a seed library or luggage, to use meeting space, to file your taxes, to take a class, to ask question
Listen local - see what's happening at local music venues or other events where local musicians will be performing, stop for buskers, find a favorite artist, and support them
Buy local - it's less convenient than online shopping or going to a big box store that sells everything, but try buying what you can from small local shops in your area
Become unmarketable - there are a lot of ways you can disrupt your online marketing surveillance, including buying less, using decoy emails, deleting or removing permissions from apps that spy on you, checking your privacy settings, not clicking advertising links, and...
Use cash - go to the bank and take out cash instead of using your credit card or e-payment for everything! It's better on small businesses and it's untraceable
Give what you can - as capitalism churns on, normal shmucks have less and less, so think about what you can give (time, money, skills, space, stuff) and how it will make the most impact
Talk about wages - with your coworkers, with your friends, while unionizing! Stop thinking about wages as a measure of your worth and talk about whether or not the bosses are paying fairly for the labor they receive
Think about wealthflow - there are a thousand little mechanisms that corporations and billionaires use to capture wealth from the lower class: fees for transactions, interest, vendor platforms, subscriptions, and more. Start thinking about where your money goes, how and where it's getting captured and removed from our class, and where you have the ability to cut off the flow and pass cash directly to your fellow working class people

Uplifting The Diversity Of The Women's Alternative Dresses
In recent years, the fashion industry has seen a significant shift towards embracing diversity and inclusivity. One area where this change is particularly evident is in women's alternative dresses. From vintage-inspired designs to gender-fluid styles, there's a growing demand for clothing that breaks away from traditional norms and celebrates individuality. In this article, we'll explore the exciting world of alternative dresses for women and the impact they're having on fashion today.
Tumblr media
Express Yourself
Alternative dresses offer women the opportunity to express themselves in ways that may not be possible with mainstream fashion. These dresses often feature unique silhouettes, unconventional fabrics, and bold patterns that challenge conventional notions of beauty and style. Whether it's a retro-inspired swing dress, a sleek androgynous suit, or a flowing bohemian maxi, alternative dresses come in a wide range of styles to suit every taste and preference.
Sustainability And Ethical Practices
One of the most notable aspects of alternative dresses is their emphasis on sustainability and ethical production practices. Many alternative clothing brands prioritize environmentally friendly materials and fair labor standards, catering to consumers who are increasingly conscious of the social and environmental impact of their fashion choices. From organic cotton and recycled polyester to vegan leather alternatives, these dresses offer a stylish and ethical alternative to conventional fast fashion.
Different Sizes
Furthermore, alternative dresses often celebrate body positivity and inclusivity, offering sizes and fit for women of all shapes and sizes. Rather than adhering to narrow beauty standards, these dresses celebrate diversity and empower women to embrace their unique bodies with confidence. From plus-size options to petite-friendly designs, alternative dresses offer an inclusive approach to fashion that resonates with women of all backgrounds.
Versatility And Adaptability
Another defining characteristic of alternative dresses is their versatility and adaptability. Whether dressed up for a formal occasion or dressed down for everyday wear, these dresses offer endless styling possibilities. Pair a vintage-inspired tea dress with a pair of chunky boots for a modern twist, or layer a sleek slip dress over a turtleneck for a chic, cold-weather look. With the right accessories and styling techniques, alternative dresses can be effortlessly customized to suit any occasion or personal style.
Seek For Diverse Cultures
Moreover, alternative dresses often draw inspiration from diverse cultural influences, resulting in designs that are rich in history and symbolism. From traditional prints to Japanese kimono-inspired silhouettes, these dresses celebrate the beauty of global fashion traditions and highlight the interconnectedness of cultures around the world. By incorporating elements of cultural heritage into their designs, alternative clothing brands promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation within the fashion community.
Conclusion
Women's alternative dresses offer a refreshing departure from the confines of mainstream fashion, celebrating diversity, sustainability, and individuality. With their unique designs, ethical production practices, and inclusive approach to sizing, these dresses empower women to express themselves authentically and embrace their unique sense of style. As the fashion industry continues to evolve, alternative dresses will undoubtedly play an increasingly important role in shaping the future of fashion, one that is more inclusive, sustainable, and diverse than ever before.

I always feel so weird when I see companies making mega expensive “punk” and “goth” clothes. I used to know this other person who kept on wanting to get into the goth scene, and another one of my friends literally was so willing to help her and get her started out with like music recs and clothing tips and she’d constantly tell us. “Oh, but dressing goth isn’t accessible for me. I don’t have the money.”
Which y’know makes sense, not everybody has the money to drop on getting goth clothes. Especially when your priorities are literally keeping a roof over your head and paying bills. We’re all from working class families here. But then we just kind of realised she was referring to the shit you’d find on like… Killstar or Dollskill and everything made a lot more sense. It’s been making me think. Ever since alternative subcultures such as goth, such as punk, even grunge tbf have made their way into mainstream fashion trends on the internet it’s made people believe that the only way you’re able to get clothes to “dress the part” is to fork out shite tonnes of money to these ridiculously overpriced online clothing stores. (You don’t even have to dress goth for example to be goth because it’s a music based subculture but that’s a whole other thing.)
The way trends are today with this whole, “aesthetic” thing along with the consumerist HELL that is fast fashion sparks a wave people just buying swathes of overpriced clothing to hop onto a clothing trend that is actually ripped from a subculture they don’t really understand? Like part of the whole core of these subcultures is that we are anti-consumerist and anti-capitalist. You are a fucking joke.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking negatively about people who truly want to get into these subcultures. There is nothing wrong with that at all, of course there isn’t. I’m talking about people who will see a fashion trend and just hop onto it and really have no idea what they’re doing. (This is part of the reason why I believe it’s unlikely we’ll ever have a new subculture as big as previous ones ever again because of just how everything is a trend now.)
Fashion that has been born from these subcultures has always been DIY. Making your own battle jackets, thrifting pieces of clothing and tweaking them to be how you want. Like… I don’t know about you babes but I don’t think goths in the 80’s were getting their clothes from fucking Hot Topic.
The fact that companies are now and have been making ridiculously priced pieces of clothing to capitalise off of: 1.) People who want to hop on trends because they don’t want to make the clothes they just want the style now, and 2.) People who want to genuinely get into subcultures such as punk and goth but may be misguided as to where to get clothing just makes me so fucking mad because it makes getting into the fashion within these subcultures seem inaccessible and consumerist-ridden when they’re absolutely not meant to be.

Tutorial on how to make patches, because DIY should be accessible and inexpensive, and u shouldn't have to turn to fast fashion websites
Materials Required:
An idea
Fabric
Paint
Needle and thread
How do I procure these items?
Idea
You're in luck, ideas are very easy to have, at no monetary expense. If you don't know exactly what you want to put on a patch, you can type "punk patches" into tumblr/pinterest/google/etc and note down anything you like
Fabric
This is where most people start to worry - most of us don't sew and don't have an arsenal of fabric at our fingertips. But fear not! There are 2 options here
If you have money, you can buy squares of fabric from a craft store. Joanns Fabrics has bundles of quarter-yards for $10. Just one quarter yard can yield you dozens of patches
If you don't have money, don't be discouraged! You don't need to spend anything if you don't want to. Do you have an old shirt you don't wear? Pants? Bandana? Underwear? Bedsheets? That's usable fabric right there!!
Paint
The real bust of the list. Unfortunately, getting paint isn't as easy as fabric can be. You don't need anything fancy, mind you, any type of fabric or acrylic paint will work.
Small tubes of paint and paint pens can fit in your pockets. I bring this up for no reason at all...
Alternatively, if you go to school, consider asking an art teacher if you can borrow some. You could also ask friends and family who may paint.
Needle and thread
Once you make a patch, you need something to attach it with. Really, you can use anything -- glue, safety pins, etc -- but if you're attaching it to clothing, sewing is your best bet. Consider these methods of getting the needed items
Go to a craft store. Small starter sewing kits, packs of needles, or spools of thread are typically pretty cheap. If you can't spend money, though, consider that these items are also small, and can fit easily in pockets
Ask a grandma or other family member who may sew to borrow some supplies. Grandmas love it when younger people sew
Again, if you go to school, ask an art or theater teacher if you can borrow supplies
You can also use dental floss instead of thread, and it's actually recommended by some punks due to it being more durable than thread.
If you don't know how to sew, there are lots of online tutorials on how to do simple stitches!
But what if I'm not good at DIY?
Ever heard the phrase "practice makes perfect"? No one is good at anything the first time they try it. Don't let amateur-looking attempts stop you from trying.
Additionally, DIY isn't a contest. If you go to shows or alternative spaces irl, no one will care if you're obviously new to it.
Now go make patches and have fun!!!

WHERE DO I GET MY CLOTHES/ACCESSORIES FROM ?? :3
Tumblr media
ppl have asked me this so here ya go!!! tried to go in depth but if there’s anything else u wanna know i totally gotchu !! :3 (go further down for where i shop online)
-thrifting
-hand me downs
-diy
When thrifting alternative clothes ppl always complain that there’s nothing for them cuz most of the time they’re just not looking right. don’t just look for things you’ve seen online, band shirts, or things with specific design like stripes, cheetah, or zebra print. look for anything literally ANYTHING and if it’s boring and plain just diy it. you want animal print? paint it. you want band shirts? paint it. don’t have the skills? trace it onto paper, cut it out, boom u got a stencil now u can use that to paint onto a shirt.
simple things like cheap blank tshirts, old hand me downs, blank tank tops, spaghetti straps would work perfectly.
i’ve made shirts from an old shirts i find in my house. i cut out a stencil and used cheap fabric paint for the logo’s and cut the shirt if it doesn’t fit right
i’ve also made shorts by cutting a pair of old jeans and distressing them at the bottoms. if i don’t wanna distress shorts i cut them a little longer and then fold the ends up and glue or sew them down (I CAN TOTALLY MAKE TUTORIALS!!)
i ALSO make my own accessories (bracelets, necklaces) from either older accessories, old clothes or whatever i find :b
Things you SHOULD NOT DO!!!
-Don’t but from shein or any fast fashion places/websites!! don’t support that kind of thing especially for some bad quality clothes..
-Don’t buy from thrift stores and resell them online for higher prices !! ur taking from ppl who actually need them and raising the prices of thrift stores. they exist for ppl who can’t afford much and you’re pricing items for more than they ever were.. if ur gna resell then sell them for the price you got them at least ..
some places i shop online for my clothes are:
-ebay
-poshmark
-mercari
-depop (be careful with prices or scammers pls! look right and don’t buy anything from resellers overpricing thrifted or “vintage” items !!)
-vinted
some places i get my accesories or stuff to make my accesories like studs, spikes, patches, belts, ect- (the last three are more for punk diy)
-etsy
-headline records
-angry young and poor
-studs and spikes
If there’s anything else you’d like to know or any tutorials you’d like me to do PLSS LET ME KNOW AND I WILL !!
I can do goth, punk, metal, and emo/scene diy !

DIY Basics
-Goth DIY Tutorials Number 1 (Part 1)- Hi there, I decided to start a little DIY series! I’m not the most professional at anything lol but I’ve been doing DIY and crafts my entire life and been part of the goth subculture for 10+ years. I’ve seen a lot of baby bats and people inexperienced in crafts online saying they don’t know how to DIY thrift store clothing to be goth so I’m here to help! I believe DIY is super important to the goth subculture and should be easy and accessible, and if I can stop anyone from buying big fast fashion brands I’ve done my job.
For the first post of this series I thought I’d link some sources for people new to DIY or looking for some easy projects to do yourself (projects will be in part 2)🖤This will help you find a starting point if the idea of DIY is overwhelming.
None of these links are mine! I will be posting my own tutorials as part of this series though:)
Tumblr media
Some of the most basic starting points for goth DIY are using fishnet tights as a top (just cut a hole in the crotch and cut off the feet), putting safety pins in everything, adding holes to clothes, and adding pins and patches. I like to make my own patches, either by free handing or stenciling, which I linked a tutorial for in this post.
Helpful tools to have:
(I don’t agree with buying from aliexpress but their other sources are great!)
Sewing Tips for Beginners:
T-Shirt Design Methods:
This is just s few ways to weave t-shirts, there are a ton of different ways to do it and YouTube has some great tutorials, especially on Angela Benedict's channel
RIT Dye Tutorial:
Patches:
Sewing them:
Stenciling them:

I think dream Riddle is alt (maybe grouge but as far as I understand it's more of a thrifting and making use of things or also a bit rudely described "trashy" imo his clothes seems like almost brand new clothes)
Definitely with the choker alt but almost like 2020/21/23 alt I can definitely see all (except the coat) of those clothes being sold in stores because of what was popular with teens and young adults
I dont think so.
The word Alt is straight up just Alternative, which can be just umbrella term for multiple outfit styles
2020 Alt according to definition: ,,is a culmination of trends that became popular during quarantine. Initially popularized on TikTok, it later spread to platforms like Pinterest and Discord. Key influences include anime, hyperpop music, energy drinks, gaming, and online culture, blending elements from goth, scene, Y2K, Glitchcore and other digital subcultures." (Aesthetic Fandom Wiki)
The more I look at Riddle, the more I dont see it
2021 Alt is basically the same, from what I see
And I couldnt find anything about 2023 Alt, so I dunno if its a niche of the internet I havent seen yet or a completly new term
As I said Alt (Alternative) is an umbrella term for most alternative styles in which we can count emo, scene, goth (those are examples btw)
In my very honest opinion Dream Riddle is Visual Key, in this essey I will prove it
First of, lets check some Visual Kei windows
Eccentric make up? Checked
Breaking gender norms? He does look feminine... Checked!
Eccentric hairstyle? Thats also checked
Vkei was a movement between Japanese musical artists, which would agree with most of stuff. TWST is like a Japanese game, so it's more probable for them to make a Japanese clothing. Riddle in dream is part of the musical band, which if we want it or not, makes him a music artist (in one way or another)
Vkei is about expressing oneself through clothes and songs, and about breaking gender norms, which I think fits
Now... Why I dont think he's a punk, because I also wanted to include that...
Many people are comparing Punk to Goth, since its not really about the style of dressing itself, but about music and political views, which for Punk its more the second
,,But why Ace calls Riddle ,,punky""
First of: Do we really trust ACE with fashion?
Second of: Punk is often use as a derogatory term: ,,Initially, the term punk meant “prostitute”, but over time became to mean: young male hustler, hoodlum, ruffian" (Dictionary)
As much as there is NO exact code of how Punks dress, majority of them agree on some things, like DIY fashion. They dont support big corporations, and they do their clothes, or buy them from small business, and by small business I mean one person does handmade clothing and sells that online or in street
The point of punk clothing was ATTENTION (especially in 70). Their whole point was fighting for equality in system, and they were doing this by clothes, music and other things. Punk clothes back in 70' and 80' had lots of controversial accesories which was fashion way of yelling ,,IM FUCKING HERE AND I DONT LIKE THIS WORLD"
And thats amazing
Punks viewpoints are mostly: individual liberty, anti-authoritarianism, a DIY ethic (which I mentioned earlier), non-conformity, anti-corporatism, anti-government, direct action, and not "selling out". There are different types of punks, sure - some of them believe in anarchy, and some in white supremacy (which is bad)
But the idea stays the same
I know Disney can get really political about some stuff, but this time I dont think thats the case
Dream Riddle is more about self expression and personal freedom, and sure it checks some punk windows, but so many different styles
(Also dont get me wrong, but those clothes look expensive as FU-)
What Im trying to say, Dream Riddle is not punk and you will not tell me he is, my best guess is Vkei, but this is the closest thing I got
Normally I dont get into discussions like that, but someone had to say that
Please tell me if I got something wrong

The Rocky Horror characters at the mall?? :) What shops would they like? What antics would they get into?
-A.B.
OMG I LOVE IT SO MUUUCHHHH
Frank: He is headed straight to Victoria's Secret- he loves Victoria's secret. He's also been banned from numerous candy shops because he keeps trying to use the candy in attempts to seduce staff and other customers with it. It started out with just lollipops, which they couldn't really get after him for, but then it escalated into "inappropriate use of the whipped cream" and "noise complaints from his moaning whenever he ate anything" and he was out
Brad: Brad loves to go fishing through those big bins of DVDs in video stores!!! (Idk if they still exist I haven't seen them in my recent trips to the mall but they were excellent while they lasted. I probably would not have the patience for what Brad does, but I'm proud that he does it) One time he found a Monty Python in there and rode that high for MONTHS! It was his greatest moment. He's also always going to wherever the Mario games are!!!
Janet: Janet's favorite stores are Forever 21 and Macy's. She definitely gets obsessed with stuff, has her arms full, and then realizes halfway through that she most certainly cannot afford most of these things. She then has to spend an eternity deciding what to put back. There have been a few times in which a store has needed to inform her that they'll be closing in fifteen minutes and she's needed to make an incredibly quick turn-around. She always comes back for the things she's left behind once she comes into some more money, though, and then the process starts all over again and she is thrilled every time!
Riff Raff: Riff Raff loves to get nail polish at makeup stores and other little accessories that can make him feel especially elegant! He'll go more out there and get better outfits when he's not in Frank's servitude- but anything he gets will inevitably become Frank's if he's not careful. ALSO he always gets himself a nice little treat because Frank ususally gives him and Magenta leftovers. He's developed a true love of cheese popcorn and will get himself a bag if one of the stores is selling one. However, he does tend to look like a bird when he eats, so if he sees someone looking at him funny, and he notices that they are not a child (he'll turn the other way if they are) will stare them directly in the eyes and go kind of cross-eyed until they leave and he can enjoy his popcorn in peace
Magenta: Magenta will go and outright get her nails done at the mall. Then, depending on the day, she'll either get some perfume, clothes, accessories, or baking supplies! Sometimes she'll just go to a bakery and let them do the job for her. She also loves those fun vulgar signs that you can get to hang up. She's kind of seen as a test of sorts when she walks into a store because- if she doesn't like the service you provide- she will go online and leave the most scorching of reviews. If you pass the "Magenta test" your shop honestly probably gets a small celebration
Columbia: At every mall you will find a few special shops that sell AMAZING fashion and accessories that are so alternative and unique. You will find Columbia there every time!!! It's where all of her favorite outfits come from! She'll also always get donuts on her way out
Eddie: Eddie steals from Hot Topic. Its an unstoppable fact of life. No one can stop it
Doctor Scott: Doctor Scott loves bookstores!!! He'll always decide what his next read is on the spot, but he'll always pick something that he ends up enjoying. He's read so many things that it's surprising! He subbed for Brad and Janet's literature class one time, checked the curriculum, and had read every book on the list. How does he always pick something that he ends up enjoying? Well he reads the first 5 or so chapters in the store before he even buys it! He's caught a few employees looking at him funny for it a few times, but there is in fact, no rule against this action. Hes been doing it since he was like 20 and no one can stop him
Rocky: Rocky loves shops where he can get board games and special ice cream flavors- but his favorite thing that the mall has to offer is the ball pit. Oh how Rocky loves the ball pit
The Criminologist: the Criminologist loves getting pictures, either drawn, painted, or photographed, that he can frame and hang up on his walls! He especially loves ones of city skylines!!!

✨ "Your online print store is broken?" FAQ
Yeah I did that: A Summary
Q: Why did you remove everything from your Redbubble / INPRNT / etc?
A: A bunch of reasons. I made the choice for myself after thinking about it for a long time and not liking it. Some of these reasons include:
I don't like not knowing the workplace conditions or compensation given to the people actually manufacturing physical goods of my work through these services
I don't like the waste of easy-to-buy, easy-to-break manufacturing or the shipping process
I personally stopped giving a shit about the potential for theft-by-loss-of-potential-profit because it made me feel like a corporation and that sucked
There is no way in hell Redbubble will ever be profitable enough to get me to overlook this, and I don't think I should try to make it so.
The ones that haven't been emptied are having login issues. I'll be killing them as soon as I am able.
Q: So what's the alternative? How can I get prints now?
A: Anyone interested in prints can just ask me for the full resolution files of whatever piece you want and I'll send them over. Then you can either use your own printer or order something from a local store / chain and tada, print made.
In the future, I'll have the files up on Ko-fi (like the Avex body pillow) as pay what you want, so you don't even have to ask. I'd still prefer if you didn't make extras to sell for your own profit, but I can't stop you.
Q: But isn't that going to lose you money?
Probably, but the $20-odd I was making across all of my merch sites was not enough to overpower my concerns listed above. Someone tossing me $5 through PWYW is already paying me more than any of those sites would pet sale (Redbubble can be adjusted higher, but the price is already so inflated), and the end result is still more affordable for the buyer.
I also want my art to be more accessible to people like me: ones who can't casually spend $30 getting a piece of paper shipped internationally, but enjoy being able to experience shapes and colors. Differences between currency conversions, payment platform options and mail access are things I don't think should create a barrier in enjoying and adding art to your space.
Q: What about the other types of merch? Like clothing?
I've been keeping an eye on secondhand gadgets and would like to one day offer on-demand items with thrifted or secondhand base materials, but this is not a priority for me at this time. You'll live without a shirt, and if you won't, try an iron on transfer or whatever the modernized equivalent is. Anything I can't find a way to make, nobody needs to buy, simple as that.
The pin-back button press calls to me like a beautiful siren but I have yet to find one that is both affordable and close to me. The grind never stops.
Q: I also have concerns about the things you mentioned and want to try and be more accessible and sustainable with my art. Is it okay if I also do this?
I don't own the concept of sending people PNGs CMYK JPGs when they ask for them and even if I did I'm sure as hell not gonna charge people for doing it. The more people turning away from mass manufacturing the better, imo.

Could you perhaps try to give recommendations on how to dress like some of the wilderness acolytes?
Sure! I hit the max on the picture limit so I could only do the Hunter Acolyte on this post but I can always do more acolyte costumes if you want to see those too (just send another ask)!
HOW TO RECREATE THE “HUNTER” ACOLYTE COSTUME:
Tumblr media
• Skunk Pelt
The skunk pelt is at the very top of the outfit attacked to the balaclava.
If I were recreating this look for a costume I would probably find a skunk stuffed animal and use that to make the pelt. If you had access to and knew how to preserve an actual pelt you could use that as well.
Tumblr media
• Fair Isle Sweater
The Fair Isle sweater is used to make the balaclava for the Hunter’s face and was actually worn throughout the show in its original form by Misty.
I haven’t been able to find an exact match for the sweater yet but you could always find a fair isle sweater similar to use for the mask or try painting the design on to a shirt as a possible cheaper alternative.
• Fur cloak
The Fur is kind of half cloak and half vest (as it has arm holes). Costume designer Marie Schley has talked about how they used faux fur for a majority of the pelts but cut each fur piece into a pelt shape and lined it with suede before sewing them together for the cloaks and such.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You could use a similar approach for making the cloak by making each pelt individually or you could always use bigger sheets of fur and paint/ cut the fur try to make it look like there’s individual furs used in it.
*A helpful tip when cutting fur is to cut on the back side either close to the fabric with scissors or with an exacto. This will help you avoid getting little pieces of fur everywhere.*
• Green Knit/Mesh material
The costume department has used sleeves of sweaters and socks to make arm (and leg) warmers. If I had to guess these could be either of those knit materials or possibly mesh from a sports pinnie or something.
Honestly it might just be best to find a fabric with a similar look to use to recreate them as otherwise trying to hunt down clothing with a similar look to cut up would be harder.
• Navy hoodie
It appears to be just a standard zip up hoodie (it also has white string) which could likely be found a lot of places.
• Coed Naked Soccer shirt
This shirt was made custom for the show and can be seen worn by a variety of characters, notably on Van who is first to be seen wearing it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’ve posted here about some close matches for the shirt but there’s quite a few online to pick from.
• Navy Sweatshirt/Sweater
It appears that there is a sweatshirt or sweater underneath the Coed Naked Soccer shirt as you can see the collar in a couple of the photos of the costume.
If you wanted to wear this costume outside/ where it’s cold you could always layer it true to how it is worn in the show or if it’s somewhere hot you could take the sweatshirt off. If you really wanted to you could also probably skip the hoodie and just wear the sweatshirt under the Coed Naked Soccer shirt since the sweater looks to be the same color as the hoodie anyway.
• Navy shorts
I think the shorts worn by the Hunter acolyte are the same as these worn by some of the other characters throughout the show. If not, other Navy shorts will do.
• Floral Leggings
I’m not sure but I think Lottie is seen wearing the leggings in season 3 (I broke down an outfit they’re in here).
• Blue knit material
This is kind of the same thing as to what I talked about for the Green knit/mesh material above though I think these are actually blue sweater sleeves.
You could probably find a blue knit sweater at a thrift store to use or you could just find some blue leg warmers to wear.
• Pink Converse
Costume Designers Marie Schley and Amy Parris both said they passed these shoes around between the characters as an easter egg and they overall play a big part in establishing the Hunter character.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I talked about the shoes here though if you wanted too you could probably find a Converse dupe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something else to keep in mind when making this costume is to distress the outfit. The photo on the left is of an earlier draft of the costume (before they aged it) and the photo on the right is an aged version of the outfit. Aging/Distressing the outfit helps create more cohesion and helps it look more as if you’ve worn it out in the woods and got it all dirty. I’m not sure what’s the best to use but you could likely use fabric paints or dyes to achieve the discoloration!
Hopefully this is helpful and what you were looking for!

So I'm realizing that I basically have one outfit that I just make minor alterations/swaps with. I wanna keep tabs on where I got this stuff, and since I'm an attention whore, I might as well make a post out of it. With a few exceptions, everything has been stuff I've nabbed when it's on sale online or I see in a thrift store within the past couple of months.
Here's a dump of pics, some new, some old, to give you an idea of what I wear basically every day:

I really like this fit. It's professional without being stodgy, showy on the figure without being inappropriate, casual without being sloppy. I'm def "dressing up" by grad student standards, esp compared to what I used to be like as a guy, but I'm okay with that.
Now, let's steal her look!!!

Note that the shoes are absolutely the most expensive part of my outfit, but I have 0 regrets. I do NOT fuck around with shoes. I'm a hiker with messed up feet, I need to keep those babies working. And so far, these have been amazingly supportive on my messed up arches and ankles, I've used them in hikes even, and they support my ankle well. They also look really nice, far cuntier than hiking boots, so y'know. That's nice too.
There are two additional things I'll mention here that I know aren't easily accessible. I have pride colored hiking socks that I wear a lot which were given to me by the trailQTs. My belt was also something I got years ago from a leather worker at an art show.
Anyways. Idk if my assessment of this actually holds up, but I figured I'd record this all somewhere.
