Hiya, Magical Cuties!:As some of you may know already, my name is Rini, and I've been going through a lot of emotional and financial turmoil. Through a series of unfortunate events, my family has lost half of our income, and we are heavily struggling with paying every possible bill. On top of that, it was my intention to get my much needed dental work out the way on the final year of being on insurance and move out of state but I don't think that's feasible at all. My income from my job and passive income from this shopping blog isn't quite enough to supplement the income that was lost.
As a result, I’m selling off my family's closets, which include both “feminine” and “masculine” clothing that range from sizes XS-5XL with a lot of it $10-20 and under. I list these items on multiple platforms and graciously accept tips, all of those links can be found here!! These things need to go ASAP!!!! So I’d really appreciate it so much if you could check out my shop and consider purchasing. Tumblr shadowbans posts with links, so reblogs are greatly appreciated too!!

Uplifting The Diversity Of The Women's Alternative Dresses
In recent years, the fashion industry has seen a significant shift towards embracing diversity and inclusivity. One area where this change is particularly evident is in women's alternative dresses. From vintage-inspired designs to gender-fluid styles, there's a growing demand for clothing that breaks away from traditional norms and celebrates individuality. In this article, we'll explore the exciting world of alternative dresses for women and the impact they're having on fashion today.
Tumblr media
Express Yourself
Alternative dresses offer women the opportunity to express themselves in ways that may not be possible with mainstream fashion. These dresses often feature unique silhouettes, unconventional fabrics, and bold patterns that challenge conventional notions of beauty and style. Whether it's a retro-inspired swing dress, a sleek androgynous suit, or a flowing bohemian maxi, alternative dresses come in a wide range of styles to suit every taste and preference.
Sustainability And Ethical Practices
One of the most notable aspects of alternative dresses is their emphasis on sustainability and ethical production practices. Many alternative clothing brands prioritize environmentally friendly materials and fair labor standards, catering to consumers who are increasingly conscious of the social and environmental impact of their fashion choices. From organic cotton and recycled polyester to vegan leather alternatives, these dresses offer a stylish and ethical alternative to conventional fast fashion.
Different Sizes
Furthermore, alternative dresses often celebrate body positivity and inclusivity, offering sizes and fit for women of all shapes and sizes. Rather than adhering to narrow beauty standards, these dresses celebrate diversity and empower women to embrace their unique bodies with confidence. From plus-size options to petite-friendly designs, alternative dresses offer an inclusive approach to fashion that resonates with women of all backgrounds.
Versatility And Adaptability
Another defining characteristic of alternative dresses is their versatility and adaptability. Whether dressed up for a formal occasion or dressed down for everyday wear, these dresses offer endless styling possibilities. Pair a vintage-inspired tea dress with a pair of chunky boots for a modern twist, or layer a sleek slip dress over a turtleneck for a chic, cold-weather look. With the right accessories and styling techniques, alternative dresses can be effortlessly customized to suit any occasion or personal style.
Seek For Diverse Cultures
Moreover, alternative dresses often draw inspiration from diverse cultural influences, resulting in designs that are rich in history and symbolism. From traditional prints to Japanese kimono-inspired silhouettes, these dresses celebrate the beauty of global fashion traditions and highlight the interconnectedness of cultures around the world. By incorporating elements of cultural heritage into their designs, alternative clothing brands promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation within the fashion community.
Conclusion
Women's alternative dresses offer a refreshing departure from the confines of mainstream fashion, celebrating diversity, sustainability, and individuality. With their unique designs, ethical production practices, and inclusive approach to sizing, these dresses empower women to express themselves authentically and embrace their unique sense of style. As the fashion industry continues to evolve, alternative dresses will undoubtedly play an increasingly important role in shaping the future of fashion, one that is more inclusive, sustainable, and diverse than ever before.

I always feel so weird when I see companies making mega expensive “punk” and “goth” clothes. I used to know this other person who kept on wanting to get into the goth scene, and another one of my friends literally was so willing to help her and get her started out with like music recs and clothing tips and she’d constantly tell us. “Oh, but dressing goth isn’t accessible for me. I don’t have the money.”
Which y’know makes sense, not everybody has the money to drop on getting goth clothes. Especially when your priorities are literally keeping a roof over your head and paying bills. We’re all from working class families here. But then we just kind of realised she was referring to the shit you’d find on like… Killstar or Dollskill and everything made a lot more sense. It’s been making me think. Ever since alternative subcultures such as goth, such as punk, even grunge tbf have made their way into mainstream fashion trends on the internet it’s made people believe that the only way you’re able to get clothes to “dress the part” is to fork out shite tonnes of money to these ridiculously overpriced online clothing stores. (You don’t even have to dress goth for example to be goth because it’s a music based subculture but that’s a whole other thing.)
The way trends are today with this whole, “aesthetic” thing along with the consumerist HELL that is fast fashion sparks a wave people just buying swathes of overpriced clothing to hop onto a clothing trend that is actually ripped from a subculture they don’t really understand? Like part of the whole core of these subcultures is that we are anti-consumerist and anti-capitalist. You are a fucking joke.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking negatively about people who truly want to get into these subcultures. There is nothing wrong with that at all, of course there isn’t. I’m talking about people who will see a fashion trend and just hop onto it and really have no idea what they’re doing. (This is part of the reason why I believe it’s unlikely we’ll ever have a new subculture as big as previous ones ever again because of just how everything is a trend now.)
Fashion that has been born from these subcultures has always been DIY. Making your own battle jackets, thrifting pieces of clothing and tweaking them to be how you want. Like… I don’t know about you babes but I don’t think goths in the 80’s were getting their clothes from fucking Hot Topic.
The fact that companies are now and have been making ridiculously priced pieces of clothing to capitalise off of: 1.) People who want to hop on trends because they don’t want to make the clothes they just want the style now, and 2.) People who want to genuinely get into subcultures such as punk and goth but may be misguided as to where to get clothing just makes me so fucking mad because it makes getting into the fashion within these subcultures seem inaccessible and consumerist-ridden when they’re absolutely not meant to be.

how to shoplift (and see free movies)
If you like this, I'll make a super simple piracy tutorial.
Tumblr media
Movies are simple. Purchase one ticket, and when your movie ends, just walk into another theater room.
Gas stations and dollar stores are weird because you're very visible. It really depends how much of a fuck the staff gives.
Bring company or a phone. You look like more of a normal shopper when your mom, partner, or friend is talking to you about salami. You can either wander and circle back or stay near them and "body conceal" — use their body to block your concealment of your item.
Know your store and the staff. Know camera placements. Know blind spots. My method? Pretend to browse, pick an item, hide it behind my phone or clothes I'm holding, and/or circle a shelf or aisle and slip it into my sleeve. If it's too big for my sleeve, hide it behind my phone and put my phone in my purse.
Let them see you with the targeted item as little as possible. Don't look worthy of attention. Don't seem super interested in the item you intend to take. Act fascinated by something else and then act dismissive and put it back. Misdirection.
DO NOT look like yourself (depends a bit on the store and it's target consumers, really). Generally, no subculture. Act like you can afford what you're looking at. Dress like a prep. Don't look like an anarchist or goth or grunge fan. Undercover loss prevention, sales associates, and cameras will target you if you look needy or alternative.
RFIDS EXIST. These are radio signal stickers that make the towers at the doors beep! You can buy deactivators online. You can also conceal on person or in bags and "casually" head to the bathroom or dressing room (hiding items in clothes you're going to try on is a good move) and remove packages. THIS WILL ALERT THE STORE THAT THEFT IS OCCURRING: DO IT CAREFULLY AND SPARINGLY, AND TRY TO HIDE THE PACKAGES YOU HAVE DISCARDED. DON'T LET THEM CONNECT THEM TO YOU. LET THEM SEE YOU WITH THE ITEM AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. YOU MUST BE DIFFICULT TO IDENTIFY AS A SUSPECT.
You can search for RFIDS by examining items as if checking the product details. Don't get greedy. If it's too hard to conceal or remove the RFID or packaging, DON'T TAKE IT. Some other store will have something easier and similar.
On-body concealment is best. In your underwear, down your pants, in your pockets. If you ever get stopped, they usually search your bag. This is also why it is important to, if you place items in your bag, to remove the packaging – there's no proof you stole it unless you're on camera.
Be calm. Act normal. Smile at associates. Pretend you're shopping normally.
BE IN AND OUT AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. BE FORGETTABLE. Busy seasons are great for this. Staff that don't care are great for this.
Hold your purse open by leaving one strap further up your arm and the other near your wrist. This avoids having to fight with it to insert items when concealing with your phone.
Many people "fake" by concealing items behind another, crouching to inspect items on low shelves, and dropping their real target into their boots, up their sleeves, or into their purses (which you can sit on the ground.) Just be aware of cameras.
It is suspicious to carry 8 items and suddenly not have them. It is less suspicious to put many of them back and swiftly conceal the real one you wanted.
Do not repeatedly go to stores. Give it time. Get new haircuts. If with company, let them pay. Being a "tag-along" makes you more invisible.
MAKE-UP AND ELECTRONICS HAVE HIGH SURVEILLANCE. I lift cosmetics either when I'm off the radar or have been carrying something small up my sleeve or in my hand around the store for a long time while shopping normally. Then I make it disappear.
Do not get greedy and overfill your bag. Do not shove things down your pants in the open store area (dressing rooms and bathrooms only) unless you KNOW YOU ARE IN A BLINDSPOT AND NOT BEING STALKED BY LOSS PREVENTION.
Don't stare at cameras or have shifty eyes. Don't seem nervous. You're just a normal shopper. Or that's your persona, anyway. To observe cameras, look out of your peripheral, or SCOPE THE STORE.
WHEN YOU LEAVE: Walk out with a crowd so they don't know who beeped. Talk to your friend. Be on a phone call. KEEP. WALKING.
Generally, this is all "magic trick" misdirection and using normal actions and behavior to not look like a shoplifter.
STORES WILL CASE BUILD. Most theft is a misdemeanor. They CAN log your crimes until you have reached a felony level.
Feel free to do new makeup, new outfits, new wigs, take new friends.
NOT ALL STORES ARE THE SAME. Sephora or Ulta puts RFIDS INSIDE PALETTES. BE CAREFUL.
Start super small. Take things that won't get you in trouble if you get caught. Practice staying calm. Don't linger in stores.
If at a mall, drop lifted items into bags from another stores. It's not weird to have bags from other stores in malls. Throw your reciepts away or do not accept them from cashiers.
KNOW YOUR AREA. Impoverished areas have higher security. Rich ones, not so much. Walmart? Tons of cameras. Hobby Lobby? .....weirdly easy.
Check state laws and store policies.
I do not care about the "moral code of lifting". Thrift stores, flea markets, and small business are incredibly easy to steal from. Sue me. I'm fucking broke and disabled. Don't feel comfortable doing that? Then don't.
To steal clothes: Wear baggy ones, sneak extras into dressing rooms (if they counted correctly, don't do this), de-tag in the dressing room, and wear the lifted garment underneath your normal clothes.
This is all about looking like an upstanding citizen, misdrection, never being a suspect, and bewaring RFIDs.
And remember: if you get caught, deny, deny, deny! Crocodile tears if you must! This works best when you're a kid, it's a first offense, you mention how difficult things are at home or with parents, and if the police are more merciful. This also helps if you're white. Especially a white girl. Unfair and fucked up, but it is what it is. POC, be careful.
IF YOU ARE A MINOR IN THE UNITED STATES: YOUR RECORD WILL BE WIPED WHEN YOU ARE THE AGE OF MAJORITY. AFTER YOU ARE AN ADULT, IT REMAINS. Be extra careful. It costs money to expunge these things.
And most of all...
Getting greedy is how you get caught.

DIY Basics
-Goth DIY Tutorials Number 1 (Part 1)- Hi there, I decided to start a little DIY series! I’m not the most professional at anything lol but I’ve been doing DIY and crafts my entire life and been part of the goth subculture for 10+ years. I’ve seen a lot of baby bats and people inexperienced in crafts online saying they don’t know how to DIY thrift store clothing to be goth so I’m here to help! I believe DIY is super important to the goth subculture and should be easy and accessible, and if I can stop anyone from buying big fast fashion brands I’ve done my job.
For the first post of this series I thought I’d link some sources for people new to DIY or looking for some easy projects to do yourself (projects will be in part 2)🖤This will help you find a starting point if the idea of DIY is overwhelming.
None of these links are mine! I will be posting my own tutorials as part of this series though:)
Tumblr media
Some of the most basic starting points for goth DIY are using fishnet tights as a top (just cut a hole in the crotch and cut off the feet), putting safety pins in everything, adding holes to clothes, and adding pins and patches. I like to make my own patches, either by free handing or stenciling, which I linked a tutorial for in this post.
Helpful tools to have:
(I don’t agree with buying from aliexpress but their other sources are great!)
Sewing Tips for Beginners:
T-Shirt Design Methods:
This is just s few ways to weave t-shirts, there are a ton of different ways to do it and YouTube has some great tutorials, especially on Angela Benedict's channel

Metaphysical Shop Red Flags:
Little bit of a disclaimer on this one: This post is made from my personal experience. If you have a small business, this post is not about you, but hey if some of these things stand out to you, maybe it's worth analyzing your business model.
I am someone that's been active in irl and online pagan and witch spaces for over a decade now, and am compiling this from my own experiences, as well as those of my partners. I'm also a tad anti-capitalist, so an alternative title for this post could be "How to Spot if You're Actually that Metaphysical Shop's Cash Cow".
Now, let's get started.
Unknown or unethically sourced White Sage is a really noticeable starting place. Once I was at a market and saw cute smoke cleansing bundles with dried flowers and cinnamon sticks and quartz points, very pretty, very flashy! But when I asked where the Sage was sourced, the lady manning the booth said they were from Amazon. Some sellers value visual appeal to make a sale over anything else.
Overt appropriation via bulk, drop shipped items like “smudging” tools, dream catchers, etc. This list of items can vary dramatically based on who owns the shop, what practices exist in your area, so it’s good to educate yourself on how to spot appropriation. This does NOT mean ethically sourced options that benefit marginalized communities, that’s what we want to insist our local shops have for us to buy!
On that note, a lack of local creators and/or sourcing in general. Not every store has a goal of being a community hub, but beyond that they are still very visible aspects of the community. It strikes me as very odd that I can more reliably buy locally sourced herbs from a random gift shop than I can from a metaphysical store no matter which state I’m in.
Crystals with no information about where they were sourced. There is a growing issue with the intense demand for crystals that has caused an increase in unethical sources, so knowing where your purchases come from is important. Compare prices at metaphysical shops to those at your local rock shop, especially if you are lucky enough to have one run by gemologist, geologist, or rockhound. I have talked about this already elsewhere, so I won’t bog down this post too much with it. The short of it is, transparency is a green flag.
This one may be controversial, but dramatic markups in general. Don’t be afraid to compare prices to other places, particularly other local options if they are available. A few dollars variance is normal, but a huge markup should be obvious. Things like location can have a huge impact on price, which is good to keep in mind. The availability and price of something can vary wildly based on that factor alone, but that’s why I recommend checking against other options within your area. Do remember that comparing to Amazon prices isn’t fair to small businesses, and “cheap” is not the goal here.
If the contents of the store are all drop-shipped, or bulk stock that can definitely be something to keep an eye out for. If the place is full of items you can actually look up on Amazon, that may be worth paying attention to.
Prevalence of well-known problematic authors. If they have Silver Ravenwolf on a central display, that’s always something that tells me a shop prioritizes making a sale over providing quality products. If there’s an overwhelming presence of Lewellyn published books with minimal alternatives, that shows a lack of care for diversity or quality control.
AI items. Let’s be so for real here. Walking into a shop and seeing an obviously AI generated altar cloth with gibberish symbols all over it is a bad thing. I’ll talk more on the rising presence of AI that’s very negatively influencing the quality of information available in the pagan community at a later time.
Bulk resin and 3D printed items. We’ve all seen them, the vendor at a fair with an army of dozens of jointed dragons, or ten resin-cast, glitter-filled Gaia statues that light up! All so sparkly, colorful, and eye-catching. I’d implore anyone to learn more about how much plastic waste is involved in bulk production of low-quality products like this.
What my wife likes to call “Apple Store vibes”. Call me traditional, but when a store is all sleek white lines and tidy, understocked shelves, I know I’m in for some of the highest prices for incense I’ve ever seen. These stores are meant to bring in people with money burning a hole in their pocket, and that’s often reflected in the visually appealing kitsch that never actually seems to serve a purpose.
This can be a red flag SOMETIMES but not always: A lack of diversity in the paths represented. Sometimes a shop is just a reflection of the owner’s personal practice, or the focuses of the local community. Other times, there can be a reflected air of superiority of one path over others. This is entirely dependent on the individual store.
A big one I’d like to end on; they only host paid classes and services with no way for under-served members of the community to attend or participate. This is made even worse if the events are all over $20. Especially if this store is the only option in your area for these things! Instead of providing a service, they could be focused on cornering the market.
A quick Green Flag for some positivity, the presence of the owners or staff’s personal practice! I love being able to ask for insight from the source, I love being able to buy someone’s personal oil blends, I love learning more about things I may not have thought about because I’m not walking that path myself. Staff that want to chat and help can be so nice and really add to a welcoming environment.
Supporting small businesses is so important, and they can really be cornerstones of our community, but we need to be able to see the difference between someone passionate about providing resources and space to a community, and others that are looking to make a quick buck off of people starving for that. We as consumers need to hold our communities to some kind of standard, and I for one find that my standard is a certain level of authenticity. Not everyone selling metaphysical tools and supplies is trying to scam someone, but there are bad actors everywhere. Educate yourself, keep your eyes open, and don’t be afraid to ask yourself what someone’s motivations are.

Tutorial on how to make patches, because DIY should be accessible and inexpensive, and u shouldn't have to turn to fast fashion websites
Materials Required:
An idea
Fabric
Paint
Needle and thread
How do I procure these items?
Idea
You're in luck, ideas are very easy to have, at no monetary expense. If you don't know exactly what you want to put on a patch, you can type "punk patches" into tumblr/pinterest/google/etc and note down anything you like
Fabric
This is where most people start to worry - most of us don't sew and don't have an arsenal of fabric at our fingertips. But fear not! There are 2 options here
If you have money, you can buy squares of fabric from a craft store. Joanns Fabrics has bundles of quarter-yards for $10. Just one quarter yard can yield you dozens of patches
If you don't have money, don't be discouraged! You don't need to spend anything if you don't want to. Do you have an old shirt you don't wear? Pants? Bandana? Underwear? Bedsheets? That's usable fabric right there!!
Paint
The real bust of the list. Unfortunately, getting paint isn't as easy as fabric can be. You don't need anything fancy, mind you, any type of fabric or acrylic paint will work.
Small tubes of paint and paint pens can fit in your pockets. I bring this up for no reason at all...
Alternatively, if you go to school, consider asking an art teacher if you can borrow some. You could also ask friends and family who may paint.
Needle and thread
Once you make a patch, you need something to attach it with. Really, you can use anything -- glue, safety pins, etc -- but if you're attaching it to clothing, sewing is your best bet. Consider these methods of getting the needed items
Go to a craft store. Small starter sewing kits, packs of needles, or spools of thread are typically pretty cheap. If you can't spend money, though, consider that these items are also small, and can fit easily in pockets
Ask a grandma or other family member who may sew to borrow some supplies. Grandmas love it when younger people sew
Again, if you go to school, ask an art or theater teacher if you can borrow supplies
You can also use dental floss instead of thread, and it's actually recommended by some punks due to it being more durable than thread.
If you don't know how to sew, there are lots of online tutorials on how to do simple stitches!
But what if I'm not good at DIY?
Ever heard the phrase "practice makes perfect"? No one is good at anything the first time they try it. Don't let amateur-looking attempts stop you from trying.
Additionally, DIY isn't a contest. If you go to shows or alternative spaces irl, no one will care if you're obviously new to it.
Now go make patches and have fun!!!

So I'm realizing that I basically have one outfit that I just make minor alterations/swaps with. I wanna keep tabs on where I got this stuff, and since I'm an attention whore, I might as well make a post out of it. With a few exceptions, everything has been stuff I've nabbed when it's on sale online or I see in a thrift store within the past couple of months.
Here's a dump of pics, some new, some old, to give you an idea of what I wear basically every day:

I really like this fit. It's professional without being stodgy, showy on the figure without being inappropriate, casual without being sloppy. I'm def "dressing up" by grad student standards, esp compared to what I used to be like as a guy, but I'm okay with that.
Now, let's steal her look!!!

Note that the shoes are absolutely the most expensive part of my outfit, but I have 0 regrets. I do NOT fuck around with shoes. I'm a hiker with messed up feet, I need to keep those babies working. And so far, these have been amazingly supportive on my messed up arches and ankles, I've used them in hikes even, and they support my ankle well. They also look really nice, far cuntier than hiking boots, so y'know. That's nice too.
There are two additional things I'll mention here that I know aren't easily accessible. I have pride colored hiking socks that I wear a lot which were given to me by the trailQTs. My belt was also something I got years ago from a leather worker at an art show.
Anyways. Idk if my assessment of this actually holds up, but I figured I'd record this all somewhere.
