The avatar of Valigarmanda-ilgal-kibrāt-erbetti has come.

No one can remain unshakeable forever; something in the world will unbalance you.

Some preliminary gposes... I am getting too invested in Valigarmanda as the Seruk's primary and only native god. Since they are water nomads, they tend to respect the gods of their host countries and take them as their own. Here's Huracan, the S-Rank serving as an avatar because I don't have a Valigarmanda model yet

-ilgal-kibrāt-erbetti is a suffix meaning, according to wikipedia search, great god of the four corners (of the world). it comes from šar kibrāt erbetti meaning king of 4 corners but ilgal is my own invention - great god. il means god and gal means 'great'. comes from 'lugal' meaning king or 'great man'. Since the Seruk are everywhere so is Valigarmanda which is why ne is god of the world's four corners.

edit: uh... i may have fucked up and smushed sumerian and akkadian together... 'lugal' is sumerian. uh... but I still like it...

The Arcadion raids... are amazing. Hands down the best single tier, in terms of sheer fun factor. We'll see where the story goes, but the spectacle of the fights—the visuals, the music, the VOs, and the mechanics, take the absolute cake. Nothing can hold a candle to this.

I mean, look back at how we were introduced to some of the other raid tiers. Deltascape? Alte Roite and Catastrophe are the most boring fights in the history of the world, even on Savage. Alexander had some boppin' music, but at the time the only other raid that existed was Bahamut, and that was a tough act to follow. Pandaemonium... Eric is famously easy, tanks have soloed story mode, and the music was rather... sedate. Eden was probably the most impressive on the first tier, but still, Arcadion is just on a whole nother level.

It almost makes me want to actually do Savage! :p

I have no pictures of her fight. I was completely enthralled by the whole thing that I was miles away from even thinking about it. My album is hilarious, I snapped a ton of screenshots of her intro and defeat, so if you tab through it just looks like she transforms, gets introduced, and instantly dies.

Once we started M2, I flipped some of my shit because that's when it became clear—each fight gets its own unique music! So, some of the dungeon music, I wasn't blown away by, and the trials, especially, I wasn't impressed by. It's too bad, because usually trial music is one of my favorite parts. But, clearly Soken was cooking for the raids, because first of all, the very idea that each fight gets unique music is extremely unusual. That's something we only sometimes see in the final tier, and even then, the songs are often remixes of previous music. Alphascape might've done it, I can't remember Chaos's music, but, Midgardsormr's music is a song we've heard before, so it doesn't count. You have the single examples like A11 and P11, but A9 and A10 use the typical music from the old tiers, and P9 and P10 have the same song. So, the rules aren't set in stone—until now. If Cruiserweight comes out and two fights have the same music, that's unacceptable. We've tasted glory, now we demand perfection! And, it's only fair, as this is the content that's going to get farmed to death; having the same music for all of them, or even just two of them, can get old.

This guy's the weakest of the four fights. I mean, he's not a cute girl at all! We like cute girls, old men, and for some reason Bakool Ja Ja. But, he still gets his own music and unique mechanics. He punches the refbot, so we have to get revenge for the sake of the inanimate object. It's a good fight, objectively, but there's always going to be a "worst."

Now this is a spectacle! I didn't mention in the first one—as usual, I started out trying to be concise, but turns out, I'm still me—but I adore the first fight because of how it plays with the arena, and the voiceovers. "My riiiiiing! ......ahem. Please stand by while we repair the ring." I love that, every time. And, Eutrope breaks the arena, too, which is exciting. Also—I mean, just look at her. This is where I go "I'm not a furry, but..." She's an absolute badass with a cannon bigger than cities and it shoots both ways, because she's hardy. The color and lighting and feeling of size of the background is just magnificent. Compare this to last season, when we ended tier 1 with discount Castlevania? There's just no comparison.

This game has come so far, and it's only ever picked up speed.

In 9/1/23's Tales Under the New Moon "Bringer of Shadow, Bringer of Light" we finally get long-awaited Ran'jit lore, as Thancred recalls the research he did into the General after Eulmore's liberation from Vauthry.

Part of the story details Ran'jit's father, Zal'bard, and his transformation into a Lightwarden after dealing the killing blow to one. And then I remembered Huracan.

Huracan is a Rank A Hunt target, a giant red flying snake creature, similar in appearance to Ran'jit's familiar (and the Alte Roite model out of the Omega raids). The lore entry from the Clan Nutsy guys is:

Are you familiar with General Ran'jit's familiar, Gukumatz? It is a creature born of forbidden foreign magicks, passed down from general to general. Familiars such as these are usually sustained by the aether of their master, which is why when they fall in battle, their minions fall as well. There are, however, certain notable exceptions. Ran'jit's father commanded a familiar as well, but when he was slain by a sin eater, Huracan somehow survived, and has been seen on several occasions since. One theory posits that since the master was transformed into an eater, the familiar endures, though it is no more than conjecture...

The old General's aether persisted in some form in Norvrandt while the Lightwardens were active.

Now, the Hunts are a gameplay mechanic and the Lightwardens are gone, but it definitely adds to the horror aspect of the sin eaters and the stagnancy of the Flood of Light for over a century.

I have a friend in my FC, we shall call him Z, who leads a static. Z has been trying to get me to be a part of said static for a long time.

I have told Z, on numerous occasions, that it ain’t gonna happen. I’ve done the whole raiding thing for many years in WoW, and I’ve reached a point in my life where it doesn’t interest me. I’m here for the story, not the challenging grind. I have no interest in the latter, it has gotten to the point where it stresses me out more that it provides enjoyment.

Z, bless them, has proven undaunted and asked if I was interested in farming EX trials for mounts

I told them the only way I would be interested was if they were Shadowbringers EX Trials, as I would REALLY like to have the Mecha Dragon mount.

Z agreed immediately.

Seems their static really likes farming mounts for folks.

We got the Hades one last night, and afterwards Z asked me if I had any of the Savage raid mounts from previous expansions. I told them No, of course not. 

Z knows how much I love technological mounts. I can only imagine they smirked evily So we went and obtained these for me too. Alte Roite was basically an “eh why not”

I can’t remember which savage exactly, but it was the Omega one that dropped the alte roite mount. Doing that party finder was so incredibly fun - some of the best I’ve ever had - and I even made a friend out of the experience!

The omega deltascape raids are just the final level of ff5! The funky castle with Alte Roite and the Catastrophe in that weird prison arena and Halicarnassus even has the sand maze. I had no idea that Shinryu is also from ff5

idk if i've shouted enough about how I've been assigned 'From Tural' by the narrative because I picked Valigarmanda to be the One Native God of Suzune's people, the Wavewalker Hyur aka the Seruk based on uh... i don't wanna make up a god. *picks one from FFXIV's summons with a suitably long name that's fun to say*.

Valigarmanda sounds good, I say. Yoshi-P: so Valigarmanda is a boss encounter in Dawntrail.

I had a stroke. i've recovered. I'm thinking about the Alte Roite mount and how I can make it represent a messenger or even a smaller form of Valigarmanda

when u just want to play ur erenville alt but u have to drag another alt to praetorium so u can get the treasure trove mounts this patch
