i think i’ve reached my breaking point

#jabber #i don't think it's a perfect movie either #but how do you watch that film #and think that 1) it's telling you that you have to forgive your parents #2) that the irs is the villain???#i agree that the ending is too simplified it tries to tie it up too cleanly #still i think it pretty clearly is about the mother's choice to prioritize love and her family #the daughter forgives her and then we see that forgiveness being followed through by changed behavior #and also just thinking that the irs is framed as the bad guy like?#the irs is there as an obstacle in the sense that it's an object of failure for the mc #she's struggling as a mother and to do these basic things for her business #the irs is meant to be a measure of the mother NOT to be the villain like #alsolike The Entire point of the irs scene is abt immigrants being screwed over by legal things like the irs #bc of the language barrier hello

I was literally JUST yelling to a friend about how they bleached Rem in every sense of the word and absolutely just - fucked right up with the ENTIRE gun ho guns. I think it had been 90 percent of the point that these were all humans that had seen the worst humans could come up with and who had lost hope - people treated the worst by humanity. i have a lot of thoughts abt what they did to monev. i dont like it. at all. the PURPOSE that monev the gale SERVES in the NARRATIVE is to SHOW US THE DEVIL IN VASH!!!!! its not so wolfwood can shoot a child in the head its so we can see the cruelty and viciousness that IS IN FACT PRESENT IN VASH, monev is there to show the audience that there is an angry, angry man under there who is constantly keeping himself in control!
