Tbh i also have loads of fun tearing apart the Peak Writing! Beyond the typical enjoyment of being a hatertm its a writing analysis exercise in figuring out all the ways it failed expectacularly, and the little moments where it got things right before going back to wrong. Like studying a train crash to figure out how it happened and how it could have been prevented. Plus in the process one can think abt the context the work was produced in and one's own writing preferences and biases. Its a fun puzzle and at this point nfcv is my personal chewtoy for when i wanna release the salt <3

Plus, tumblr got the advantage of tags, if anyone specifically dislikes criticism of the peak they can just block the tag or thee and continue with their life. Like the whole purpose here is to criticize the writing, not to simply mindlessly seek fights with fans.

NFCV is seen as a high work of art, a masterpiece of characterization and philosophy. So I challenge the text at the level it wants to be seen, and it returns to me nothing but disappointment. The thing is that the deeper I dig (and the more my Very Smart Mutuals contribute, I appreciate your braincells <3), the more I find, so it becomes almost a game: just how much does the text suck? It's a surprise every time! :D

It doesn't help that the most vocal critics... criticize for the wrong reasons, to say the least. So I feel like I have to contribute something, instead of relying on others.

Also I get what you mean about biases. It absolutely helps to stop and think "why is this viscerally repulsive to me? Why do I roll my eyes at the show's attempt to make vampires 'more' than evil monsters? Why do I hate Alucard insulting Trevor instead of accepting his 'depression' at face value? Why can't I accept Isaac's happiness and find him justifiable? Why do I feel personally insulted by everything that happens in Hector's story to the point that I cannot physically shut the fuck up about it?" No joke, it really did help to put order into my mind, especially when it comes to the narrative of abuse and redemption/atonement/punishment. also something something sometimes i feel like a hypocrite for despising lenector so much considering my own tastes lol

Nocturne doesn't interest me at all. It's boring, it's bland, it's Castlevania in all but name, nothing about it is salvageable. But in NFCV I see the kernels of a good adaptation, of a good story, all gone wasted by a shitty writer and his egocentrical entourage, and boy. boy is there nothing worse than Missed Potential 🙃 especially when it gets praised to high heavens for reasons that might as well be expressed in an alien language 🙃

also it helps comparing it to the games :) while they have their own writing flaws and it would be silly to ignore them, 99% of the time when the show has something that doesn't work, it's because they changed it from the games for no reason. So now I appreciate the main source more :D <- fun fact this is how I became a Hector stan. by hating the show so much that I had to spam pages of the manga to cope. sometimes being a Hater™ turns you into a Lover™ <3

I keep seeing posts about concept art for a blighted Warden, or a Fade destroyed whoever you left in the Fade and like all these ppl being all like WE WERE ROBBED, WE SHOULD HAVE HAD THIS, WHAT ABOUT OUR CHOICES, HOW WILL WE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM and it's like...

thank god they didn't come back. I don't want to see that. My warden is elsewhere in the Anderfels looking for a cure with her dragon that she got from an egg in Awakening (b/c I got a dragon egg, and no one said I CAN'T hatch and raise the dragon myself) and her husband Alistair after he met up with her after DAI.

My Hawke ripped her way out of the fade b/c of COURSE she did, she's HAWKE, and there were so many fade tears open that whole game, plenty of time. She returned to Fenris on their quiet little farm where they spend time when not going off on wild adventures to rescue some random person b/c of course they do. Another reason why I'm glad Fenris didn't come back.

I HAVE stories for them, I KNOW what they're up to, and I like that I can decide their fate and no one can tell me "BUT THE CANON SAYS SPECIFICALLY" SHUSH this is my game, my choices, and I don't need anyone to tell me what my Thedas looks like b/c I KNOW what it looks like. This is where I'd like the word of god to but out and open up another part of the world where I can create new things for my Rook.

The less they mess with past choices, honestly, the better. I know what happened to my heroes, those games are complete, and I had their lives plotted out. I want to look forward and enjoy what's to come, not wallow in what happened, or be forced to have my characters' lives play out in a way that doesn't fit them.

Anywho, I wanna do some comics of them all at some point, and I hope other ppl will create what their HoF and Hawke are up to b/c I love to see what other folks have created and what path their creativity and hopes for their lil blorbos have put them on.

What's stopping the possibility of a ceasefire is pretty simple. Hamas is holding 239 Israeli civilians hostage including children and the elderly. What's happening in Palestine is a travesty and horrendous. But Israel can't initiate a ceasefire from the position they're in, so we need to be agitating for Hamas to release the hostages and call for a ceasefire instead.

briefly mentioned this before but because I loooove the aesthetic so much I think at least one important muse confrontation should happen in the tricksters city, specifically in the amusement park. make it like a fuckign scooby door episode everything is all abandoned and run down but as the wards are walking down a boardwalk or something all the lights flicker on and some distorted fuckign. carnival music starts playing and they find muse sitting in like. the rebar scaffolding or whatever in the ferris wheel. just like grinning chin in hands kicking his feet watching them. this image is so clear in my mind. some creep shit !!!! also its like when they first go to the spirit world to get tide back from.mal and end up in the amusement park. except ashe isn't with them this time

this is so fucking good though yeahhh.... i love creepy carnival shit so much. he trickster probably Knows it's very over the top and horror movie creepy and just a little absurd. he's so fucking fun 2 think abt since he's literally always doing shit simply because it is funny to him. we can swing a trickster justification for anything probably. i bet he fucking saw traps people!! anyway. ashe isn't with them this time. except..... well. he kind of is. :(

I HAVE ALSO BEEN THINKING ABT DOWNTIME. FREQUENTLY. i guess. the answer to this is he lives however the trickster&co does. the image of him coming back in his fancy intricate little outfits to some disgusting nasty bloody industrial warehouse where they're posted up & always being this very jarring contrast to the gore and violence is really good. the image of him having a perfect doll bedroom and going through a fancy little routine half the nights when the trickster is in a good mood or feeling it & just. getting thrown on the bed & the door locked to pass out for a couple hours whenever he forgets or is busy is also really good. literally anything we do to muse makes me feel some kind of way man. i also have had the extremely vivid image of the trickster braiding his hair & chatting about all kinds of horrific things excited sleepover style to muse who is just. Visibly Not There in my head for so long. not even like he has to touch him, he could be making him do all these things for himself! he's literally controlling him! he just does it for fun!!!

anyway i think post-muse ashe should get to freak out very badly in a multitude of ways whenever anybody touches his hair. like i think he's touch-adverse in general (& miserable about it because he's also so touchstarved & his brain simply whites out in distress anytime anyone touches him because. literally the only person doing that was the trickster!!!!) but i think specifically his hair being messed with is a bad trigger for him. makes him freeze up n go nonverbal for hours. dakota knows that he's jumpy about touch but he still wants to do something for him & before the everything he loved them playing with his hair (its so long!! wibby & dakota think its so pretty!! virion's the only one who knows how to braid it because of his mom!! ashe melts into a puddle over it every time because nobody's ever done that for him before!) so he goes to just run fingers through it & ashe just. fullbody locks up and goes weird and still and silent & doesn't protest or fight back when dakota shakes his shoulder or smth and his eyes are distant and sort of dark and empty like virion's were most of the time when they first met him... maybe he wants to cut it a little bit just because he hates that it's been covered in The Ooze and he can't do anything with it without thinking about how the trickster would do the same thing but also he hates the idea of getting rid of the one thing abt himself that he really likes & is a little connection with both of his parents because of the trickster also, when he's already taken so much from him. (it does have to get gross and tangled and matted because he refuses to put it back or do anything to it for a while though. maybe virion helps him sort it out & it's slow and painstaking and miserable for both of them and they both feel better at the end of it.)
