oh i am so glad you asked! i love all the main 5 members of mystery inc! fred's my favorite of course, but the rest aren't that far behind (infodump incoming)

velma was my favorite as a kid (i was dorky kid with glasses myself) and she's still such an icon. i probably like her the best in where are you, what's new, and zombie island/witch's ghost-- sweet, smart, and enthusiastic, rather than being more sarcastic or reserved. OH and i love how they made her semi-nonverbal in a pup named scooby-doo! she's an autistic legend just like fred

daphne's adorable, i especially love her characterization in be cool scooby-doo, she's so chaotic but is also the heart and soul of the group. i still really like her original and #girlboss characterizations as well though! i love how they ended up giving her so many different talents and interests to make up for how undefined her personality was originally, so she has so many cool hobbies like surfing and martial arts.

shaggy's great too! i think how good he is hinges heavily on the given writers grasp on comedy, but i also think he's at his best when he has some depth beyond just being comedy relief (early 00's live action and be cool are probably my favorite versions of him, followed by the gold key scooby-doo mystery comics and where are you).

and of course i love the good boy scoobert doobert himself! i prefer a more doglike scooby, rather than more recent iterations that have him act a lot more like a human, but sometimes it can be done well. i found be cool's scooby to be really funny and likable despite being more humanlike, probably because they don't have him talk a whole lot, but when he does it's usually in dry one-liners and it just kind of works.

as far as scrappy goes, im kind of in the minority in that im kind of neutral on him? i think he has a lot of potential as a part-time member of the gang (the whole concept of "scooby's baby nephew who fears no man or god and really REALLY wants to punch a ghost (and also looks up to scooby and thinks HE'S really brave)" is absolutely hilarious. that being said, i haven't seen anything with scrappy in it as an adult (not counting the 2002 movie), and as a kid i didn't prefer the shows with him in it, ESPECIALLY the ones that didn't have velma and fred (but mostly because of velma). i think i just saw that velma wasn't in those ones and saw it as a personal slight lmao, i was like really offended asdjfkdjf. i think it was a mistake for them to go all in on scrappy (and the extended doo family) like they did, where they kind of sacrificed the original gang and formula for something new, which didn't really stick for most people. scrappy saved the scooby franchise, but also almost ended up destroying it once it started to kind of revolve around him (luckily it was saved by a pup named scooby doo). but, because i refused to watch the movies and shows from the "dark era" as a kid, its kind of a literal dark era for me in that i really don't know that much about it and have seen very little. it's high up on my list of scooby media to watch though, and i might detour from mystery incorporated to look into some of that soon.

but ANYWAY lol, long story short i think scrappy has potential and doesn't deserve all the hate he gets, but as he is he's not really my favorite, and even if he was done well, i wouldn't want him to be a permanent member of the gang, because i think the chemistry between the original 5 is so good. i wouldn't be sad personally if he never returned, but it'd be nice to see him come back as long as he was done well.

i've never seen the 13 ghosts of scooby-doo, so i'm not really familiar with flim flam or vincent van ghoul! well, i saw a little bit of van ghoul in mystery incorperated, but idk how similar he is to his original counterpart. it feels like it doesn't count lol

Okay, I can’t take it any more, I give in. Please explain Guardian to me. I’ve tried looking at the Wikipedia page but it provided no answers. All I can tell is that there are these two guys, and one is a police officer and the other a university professor but they’re both also magical immortals or something? And maybe one of them is the eponymous guardian of the other? If that’s the case, I totally can’t tell which is which. guardian was based on a bl book and was obviously censored - i'll provide an explanation of the show rather than the book, but pls know the most significant censoring (other than the obvious) was the change of everything from ghosts, demons, etc to aliens

you get this big animated infodump at the beginning with no warning and it's glorious

for backstory, there's three races on haixing - the haixingians (effectively humans), the yashou (alien race #1, can transform into plants or animals depending on type [main animals are snakes and crows, with one noticeable exception in my beloved catboy da qing]), and the dixingren (alien race #2, can have basically any powers that you want for plot related purposes, have to remain underground due to a treaty that was written 10,000 years ago)

zhao yunlan (the one with the facial hair) is the chief of the special investigations division (sid), which is kinda like torchwood but less and also more competent? depends on how you look at it. he's the titular guardian, because he's in charge of keeping haixing safe by catching the dixing criminals who come to the surface (in the book he also gets a cool whip which is called the guardian order - at one point he mentions that when he was given it he thought he was gonna be the first male sailor moon, bless him). smart and smartass. likes being one step ahead of you without you knowing. permanently exasperated with existence. in absolute love with shen wei.

shen wei (the one with the eyes, you know the one) is hei pao shi, or the black cloaked envoy - he's the dixingian envoy also tasked with ensuring all dixingren who unlawfully cross into haixing are punished back in dixing. university professor who teaches biology. worst liar in the entire world. wears sleeve garters and an ass chain to kill me personally. absolutely devoted to zhao yunlan.

they will send you absolutely insane and you will thank them for it. they're on levels of eye contact never before seen. together they Are the gaslight/gatekeep/girlboss mansplain/manipulate/malewife couple of your dreams/nightmares.

shen wei has been around for the aforementioned 10,000 years - zhao yunlan is his own special case ;)

there are 7 members of the sid and they will all send you various levels of feral

da qing - aforementioned beloved cat boy. zhao yunlan's cat but also brother but also father but also son. best dynamic. they ran out of budget to be able to have him transform into his cat form like 5 episodes in (their budget got majorly cut partway through), so instead it's just a guy in overalls acting like a cat. i lvoe him.

zhu hong - a snake yashou. my absolute wife. has amazing fashion.

lin jing - resident scientist. stresses himself out a lot. makes me laugh. still stumble over saying jin ling when referring to him

wang zheng - ghost lady! she's very sweet. her backstory is wack lol

sang zan - ghost lady's ghost husband. part of the wack backstory. sid's illiterate librarian <3

xiao guo - baby boy. baby. the babiest of boys you will ever see. precious little beanpole. genuinely the sweetest character you'll ever see in your life. levels of earnestness you wouldn't expect someone to pull off, but he absolutely does.

chu shuzhi - dixingren. has magical strings and a magical puppet. you can pinpoint the moment he falls in love with xiao guo down to the millisecond, and i screamed when i watched it.

throughout the plot they're tasked with collecting the four hallows, holy tools that have a lot of power, because the resident Big Bad (and their minions) want them to take over the world and so on and so forth (they're fun and dumb)

this show will tear your heart out and you will thank it, and then you will rewatch it while sobbing the whole way through because gahhh!

Oh my god I didn’t even consider an Isen and Fex friendship. I’d love it so much. You’re absolutely right. Arlo would rock Nate’s shit as soon as he saw Nate start to show interest in Remi. I have a feeling Nate would try to be friends with Arlo so Arlo would probs have at least a little bit of a first hand experience of how shitty Nate is, especially to women since Nate kinda brags about it.

I like Lexie. I think she’s p cool but I’d like to see a Lexie episode to get to know her better. I liked season 1 Cassie. The abortion/ice skating scene was really sad. It was a beautiful scene, but it was so sad. I’m not the biggest fan of season 2 Cassie (i haven’t actually watched season 2 yet, just seen a lot of tiktok spoilers). ***SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 OF EUPHORIA*** Like I kinda understand why she gets with Nate. Like if you take away the toxicity, he’s fuckin hot. Not ‘betray my bestie’ hot, but still. I mean, everyone in Euphoria’s hot. I’m not the biggest fan of Jules…I mean, she’s just kind of a shitty friend. Like I know it’s hard to be friends with someone struggling as much as Rue is, but Idk it just seemed like Jules kept putting Rue in situations where she’d struggle more (like the party where Jules gets crazy drunk).

It’s less that I love writing angst, and more that I love/get a kick out of seeing the reactions to said angst lmao I’ll be honest, I started to get teary eyed with that last Current!Arlo angst😅

Y/N glances at their phone, sighing as they see no new messages from Arlo. They scoff and toss their phone on the bed, feeling stupid for waiting for Arlo to text instead of texting him first. They keep telling themselves it’s because they don’t want to bother him, that they know how busy he is and how he doesn’t like to text. But deep down they know they’re trying to test him. To see if he cares enough to reach out to them first or if they’re going to be the only one putting any effort into their starting-to-get-serious relationship. Arlo’s…not the most obvious when it comes to people he cares about and he has a bad habit of repressing his emotions, especially with softer emotions. Of course they didn’t want to blame him for their own insecurities, but they knew his repressed emotions planted the seed of their doubt.

Arlo wasn’t stupid. He knew something was wrong with Y/N. They had slowly become more withdrawn, seeming more uncomfortable around him. He’d spent several nights awake and wracking his brain, trying to figure out what he was doing to push them away. After a week and a half, he finally came to the conclusion that they were just ready to break up with him and trying to distance themselves to either make it easier to break up with him or make him break up with them first. Arlo knew it’d be a good idea to break up with them first. It’d save him time and a prolonged heartbreak, but he couldn’t do it. Even if it was going to cause him more pain, he couldn’t let go of the hope that they still wanted to be with him. So he decided he’d wait and watch them continue withdrawing from him.

Arlo watches them out of the corner of his eyes, seeing them look up at him before looking away, a sad look poorly disguised on their face. He feels his heart drop at their reaction and his stomach turns. Arlo lifts his head and looks at them.

“What’s wrong?” Arlo asks even though he knew exactly what their answer would be, the same thing they had repeated every time he asked. They glance at him quickly before looking away again.

“Nothing.”

“Something’s clearly bothering you.” Arlo replies, not noticing how rough his hurt tone sounds to them. They clench their fists in their lap and they swallow hard, trying to force the bubble in their throat down before they talk.

“I-” Y/N cuts themself off when they hear their voice crack slightly, taking another moment to compose themself. “I need someone who loves me.” Arlo’s heart drops and they lift their head to look at him, panic crossing their face when they see the hurt in his eyes. “I’m not blaming you! I know it doesn’t come easily to you, and maybe I’m just not good enough for you to love and that’s not your fault, it’s mine.” Y/N rambles, losing control over their emotions as they speak, their voice more shaky with every word. Their hand raises and angrily wipes their tears away, upset that they were unable to hold them back. Arlo feels a pang in his chest at their tears and he reaches over, cupping their face with both of his hands.

“Y/N, look at me.” His thumbs gently rub their cheeks while he waits for them to meet his gaze. They slowly lift their eyes to look into his own, their hands nervously fidgeting in their lap as he stares at them. “I love you. You will always be good enough for me.” Arlo confesses, his words breaking the dam holding back their tears. A choked sob leaves their lips and tears rush down their face. Arlo hesitates for a moment before wrapping his arms around them, pulling them into an awkward hug but they don’t seem to care. Y/N hugs him back and buries their face in his shoulder.

“I’m sorry.” Arlo stays silent, trying to find the best thing to say. Before he finds the words, they pull away and hide their face in their hands. “I’m so stupid. I was completely convinced you didn’t want to date me anymore.” Y/N admits, still hiding in embarrassment.

“In that case, we’re both stupid.” Arlo huffs and Y/N peeks out at him.

“You thought I was going to break up with you?” Y/N asks softly and Arlo nods after a moment, watching them drop their hands from their face to look at him easier. “I’m sorry.” Y/N murmurs and Arlo scoffs lightly at them.

“It was a miscommunication from both of us.” Arlo gently takes their hand, his thumb rubbing slow circles on the back of their hand. Y/N nods and they pause for a moment before asking timidly,

“Can…can I hug you again?” Arlo wordlessly pulls them into his arms, pressing a kiss to the side of their head. Y/N nuzzles into him, feeling safe and content in his arms.

First impression: first saw her in a mossbag video, immediately thought "weird little creature, provider of flukemarm lore"

Impression now: virtually the same thing , will occasionally visit her on my way to godhome like "hi bestie :]"

Favorite moment: when she gets out of her cave after pantheon 2. idk what the lore is but yeah go you funky little creature!

Idea for a story: any story about fluke hermit would give her more character than team cherry did. also something about pre-infection fluke hermit would be pretty cool

Unpopular opinion: (wouldn't every opinion about fluke hermit be considered an unpopular one?) no one in this fandom even looks at her. someone please look at her i do not wish to be the Fluke Hermit Connoisseur

Favorite relationship: no romantic relationships for fluke hermit, so I wanna know what kinda mother-daughter fuckery is going on between her and flukemarm. what kinda mother was flukemarm before getting infected? what did fluke hermit do before that?

First impression: why are you at the end of colo 3 why I can't even get through half of it

Favorite moment: uhh her straight up stopping the fight after you kill the beast? you'd think the champion of the colosseum would be cold towards everyone but no! she's compassionate and stuff!

Idea for a story: her leaving the colosseum and joining the dirtmouth gang. let her chill for once

Favorite relationship: god tamer and pale lurker. god of the arena and her crazy she/it

Favorite headcanon: she can control her infection (how? idk girlboss energy) and is actually really nice out of battle

OK BUT cmon just. grian but hes a mutant. not like blood colour, he's a proper physically mutated troll thats a little too mutated to be socially acceptable, so he lives off the grid. he's very birdish. hollow bones and feathers and the like, and thin arms that a highblood could genuinely snap like a twig if they wanted to. makes him sorta useless for heavy lifting, 'specially since he's a rustblood, so he was MEANT to be culled but was smuggled out by some jadeblood + parrot lusus teamup. he wears this huge poncho-type thing that covers up to his neck so he only has to pull out the feathers around his face

mumbo is a jadeblood, which is already sort of weird since jades are predominantly afab, and it really doesn't help that he's probably the clumsiest jadeblood known to trollkind, which leads to a series of unfortunate accidents (think that one friendsim bronya ending) that SHOULD'VE gotten him insta-culled if he didn't get out and just Book it away from the caverns. he and grian met (two buddies in hiding yaaass) and after a while started living together in a very far corner in an abandoned hive so drones couldnt get them. technically, grian wouldn't have to live that far out since he's literally just a rustblood and only has to hide his physical mutations, but he's willing to hide for mumbo's sake since he's technically wanted + also a jadeblood out of the caverns. they are moirails <>

tango is a goldblood with stupid powerful psionics. only issue is that he similarly has a stupid hot temper and it makes his psionics set off at really inconvenient times. since he's tech-savvy, he basically created chargeable battery packs in the form of these metal armbands so that when he gets pissed off the excess psionic power siphons into there, and then he can actually blast electricity from his hands! being powerful is cool, but he isn't too excited about the 'being used as a battery' aspect. he gives heir of rage vibes tbh. learn not to suppress his anger and instead control it, use it, and manipulate it to his advantage.

bdubs is an olive. i have nothing else to say. he lives in the moss and has a moss cloak and probably eats people /j

scott is a cerulean ONLY for the mind control powers. i am fully and wholly aware that purples are more likely to have mind control powers but he is such a vriska type that you will not be able to convince me anything else. he's just a bit of a bastard really. probably also has a spider lusus if not some unholy combination of a stag and a spider (which seems more homestuck-esque, anyways)

CLEO is the purpleblood. maybe not as into that whole 'mirthful messiahs' thing as everyone else, but still a clown. she probably wears clown makeup to enunciate the half-deadness of her person. think of her revival as a "psionics-aided accident." she's very happy to be alive, though, and she's kicking about with scott and their weird online friend who types in a weird colour and doesnt have a typing quirk (pearl its pearl i miss gaslight gatekeep girlboss ok)

ren is probably something pretty low like bronze or rust, possibly even a mutant? i want to incorporate the red king thing somehow, but ren definitely fits a lower caste better. without thinking about the red king id say he's probably bronze but dresses it up as if hes personally giving the caste system a middle finger and telling it to go fuck itself. his horns look like dog ears that actually do turn into dog ears sometime in the game through shenanigans that probably have to do with his sprite.

etho is the fuchsia heir. he just seems like the kind of guy that would have a lusus of horrors unimaginable and also be really chill and laid-back about inheriting an entire planet. probably has some ideas for reform, if he manages to survive until adulthood without both moons crashing into the planet and some crazy videogame changing the trajectory of his life forever. as long as something like that doesn't happen, he's set. :D

trafficstuck but its "homestuck but we have soulmates." so youve got the 14 double life participants playing the game, 7 human and 7 troll, and when they get in their pain+emotions+whatever ur double life hc is are instantly linked with a member of the other species. so like troll grian/human scar. troll cleo/human martyn. troll scott/human pearl. troll ren/human bigb. troll tango/human jimmy. troll etho/human joel. troll bdubs/human impulse.

grian is moirails with and lives with mumbo and mumbo dies during the entry process and gets prototyped and becomes grian's sprite. same thing happens with lizzie during joel's entry.
