𝙉𝘾𝙏 𝘿𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 : 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙞𝙙𝙤𝙡 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙙
@cherry-jaemin ~ Hello! Can I request a dreamies reaction to you being an idol and their best friend? Thank you!! ♡ (◕‿◕✿) ~~~ Thank you so much for your request it was really fun to write, hope you’ll like it!! :)))))
Mark Lee
he cherishes you A LOT (︶ω︶)
but i honestly see him as someone who keeps his private life private
so your close friendship is kept lowkey
but he finds time to spend time with you despite both your busy schedules even if it’s made through your phone screens :(((((
one thing he’s most grateful for is that you understand
you understand what it’s like spending hours in the practice room frustrated, you understand what it’s like constantly missing home, you understand what it’s like working nonstop with no breaks until your body forcefully gives up my heart breaks for him every damn time
you understand him
your friendship is so pure (•ˇ‿ˇ•)
like you can both be laughing your asses off one minute, mark flopping around like a fish on land
and the next one you can be having a therapy session usually consisting of wordless comfort
mark doesn’t seem an emotional person but if there’s one(1) thing that can shatter him is witnessing you on your breaking point
like you were usually the one to check up on him often and pull him away from work for a while before he drowned himself in it
so seeing you overworked and utterly exhausted made him sick
no one could convince him to leave your side for some time (⌯˃̶᷄ ﹏ ˂̶᷄⌯)゚
you clung onto each other and mark softly scolded you for taking more care of him than yourself despite knowing that he’d do the same you’re like his baby he’s allowed to
other than your emotional moments you’re so playful together
‘bruh’ ‘dude’ ‘man’ - your daily vocabulary involving each other -_-
you sometimes gather in a studio and just write lyrics together or help each other with practice bonding time
basically you just vibe together so well and you’re just so grateful for each other’s presence because it eases your hectic and busy lives
you feel like a breath of fresh air to him and vice versa
Huang Renjun
friendship with him is basically clowns clowning each other 🤡
even more so since you can both joke about your shared career
he makes a tradition of reacting to your every m/v god help u he clowns you from the first second to the last
“looking a bit constipated aren’t we, y/n? i guess that hotpot didn’t sit well with you” <( ̄︶ ̄)>
“that’s just my face when i think about u, garden troll”
*huff* *incoherent mumbles of protest*
but he secretly streams THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR M/V and forces the rest of the dreamies to watch it several times too
you watch his radio every evening and sometimes even send in cringy messages just to get a reaction out of renjun lol
so basically you’re super supportive of each other but in your own ways
imagine sleepovers ma friend that’s a wiiild ride
ghost stories, alien conspiracies, crazy theories - THE MAIN MENU
bet y’all renjun can’t sleep without someone he can hold onto after watching or talking about scary things ੧| ‾́ー ‾́ |੭
and you wouldn’t call that cuddling no, it’s more like....strangling....but with love....kinda....yeah that sure ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
on another note, you made it you personal mission to lift his confidence whenever SM doesn’t treat him right (╬ Ò ‸ Ó) y’all evil cockroaches
and renjun always promotes you subtly during his lives
“ ‘renjun can you give us a song recommendation?’ yeah sure actually there’s this song-” spoiler alert : it’s always one of your songs
one of the biggest secrets in kpop is who drew that *absolutely* gorgeous portrait of you that you proudly showed in your own live
spoiler alert x2 : it’s renjun, it’s always renjun
your friendship is really one of a kind
basically best friends lovingly clowning and supporting each other at the same time precious am i rite
Lee Jeno
jeno seems like a very comforting person to me
like he’s someone you can go and vent to about all the pressure of your career and what not
and he’d just listen to you and hold your hand tightly in his if you’re able to meet face to face, he has his own way of grounding you when everything gets hectic (^v^)
he’s a lowkey hypeman
whenever you happen to perform at the same awards show as dream he makes sure to dance and cheer cutely for you o(≧∇≦o)
you won an award?? this man is so proud he hollers louder than your fans well basically he’s your no.1 fan soo :))))))
he always tries to shield you away from hate so it’s one of the reasons he doesn’t disclose much of your closeness lowkey protective jeno
you had an airport accident once common against idols unfortunately
lemme tell ya, jeno went NUTS (`⌒´メ)
he’s not a confrontational person but he CAN and WILL be when it comes to you
he babies the heck out of you for the next few days :3
and once he has the occasion to turn on vlive he takes a minute to *calmly* explain that while idols love their fans, it’s not fine for fans to invade their privacy and personal space preach sister
you were also close to flipping the sasaengs’s shit up when they kept bothering keno with calls leave the man alone jeez (┛ಠДಠ)┛彡┻━┻
he always reminds you to to take care of yourself
“don’t push yourself too hard” “don’t drink too much coffee, you’ve seen what it can do to jaemin and we don’t want that now, do we?”
he often covers your dances ⌒°(❛ᴗ❛)°⌒ and nails them
“jeno you’re dancing better than me on MY OWN SONG”
“idk what you’re talking about” (^ω^)
overall your cheerleader and each other’s poorly read not at all paid bodyguards
Lee Haechan
“your sun is here to enlighten your life!!!!!”
“gtfo hyuck”
this man knows no privacy
he’s ruthless and he visits whenever he wants even if it means that’s on a wednesday AT 3 AM (┛◉Д◉)┛彡┻━┻
he tells you it’s because your ‘just forcefully woken up’ is the best blackmailing material
in reality it’s because he just misses you A LOT ( ⁍᷄⌢̻⁍᷅ )
this rascal is busy a lot and you’re busy a lot and so every single moment spent with you is so so precious to you both
he gets overwhelmed by this feeling of longing sometimes so he acts on instinct and just barges in wherever you are
but you can also count on him at any time
*middle of the night* *donghyuck sleepily answering his phone* *sniff* *sniff* “hyuck”
“yeah what’s wrong??? who am i beating up???? should i take johnny too???? just say the name cutie (*`Ω´*)”
you only ended up crying about missing his cuddles
*sigh* “you only love me for my cuddles”
you once told him fleetingly that you missed breakfast and lunch
you found 2 boxes of takeout outside your apartment already paid by a certain someone i need a hyuck pls
he’s also quite vocal about your friendship and randomly mentions you
“y/n told me that i look cutest with my baby belly so unless you wanna pick a fight with them lay off gremlin” ー( ̄~ ̄)ξ
both your dreams are to get to collab on something anything it would be heavenly for hyuck to colllab with anyone tbh
nothing can keep you 2 apart, your duo is just too strong and the world just isn’t ready for you
Na Jaemin
he’s such a warm person
he babies you but just because he wishes you’d have more time to spend with each other ( *’ω’* )
so the only way to quench his worry is texting you daily to make sure you’re alright and taking care of yourself or he’d personally do it
the way he talks about you tho (╯✧∇✧)╯ like you put the stars in the sky you did for him
“y/n is actually quite good at this game, i ate dirt when we played together”
“y/n looks so pretty in those pictures we took together” Σ(*ノ´>ω<。`)ノ
“y/n is my favorite model end of story”
talking about his love for photography, you’re his model 80% of the time
his camera roll is filled with pictures of you every time you find enough time in both your busy schedules to meet up
he has enough to open a fanpage if he hasn’t done that already ;)
in turn you’d secretly dedicate parts of the lyrics you wrote to him
i’m telling you he would CRY hearing your sweet voice sing such beautiful words meant for him he would feel so appreciated pls ( ˃̣̣̥ω˂̣̣̥ )
he always says that he has no other friends other than his members so having you validating the strong bond he feels with you would elevate him to cloud 9 :,(((((
i can imagine you two meeting on a variety show a mess that would be
you can’t be too close in front of the cameras in order not to give the wrong impressions
but behind the scenes you’re not leaving each other’s side, chatting and clinging onto each other the entire time (≡^∇^≡)
and even on screen as long as you’re allowed to you’re attached to the hip, ALWAYS beside each other
in conclusion you’re the besties everyone is envious of and wishes to share such a precious bond with someone ∩(︶▽︶)∩
Zhong Chenle
y’all are basically the ‘you can’t sit with us’ pair -_-
another one who i think would keep your friendship private
like it is public that you two are friends but neither of you shares more about your meetups and so on
but chenle is lowkey highkey whipped
chenji making keychains for the rest of nct? +1 for y/n (/^▽^)/
surprise party for chenle’s birthday? you’re dressed as staff waiting for him to notice you after cameras are turned off he screeched so loud the entire building heard him and then proceeded to cling onto you forever
you know how chenle took jisung to him home in china? he took you with him as often as you both could afford the time to he even rescheduled a few times to make it convenient for you to come along (。•́︿•̀。)
he buys all versions of your albums cuz he can
going to each other’s concerts!!!!!
i can imagine you accompanying his family to the dream concert (˃̩̩̥ɷ˂̩̩̥) the same one when jeno and jaemin decided to get nakey nakey yes
you’re texting nonstop istg (◔_◔)
chenle can always be seen texting in the waiting rooms and so on
you’re his source of confidence before concert and certain schedules
also you’re probably discussing your hangout plans :))))
which often ends up in playing basketball in a park at night and then getting bored or tired and just wandering aimlessly around
you secretly record duets together unreleased unfortunately ( ب_ب )
and he teaches you how to play piano
basically your friendship is very playful and you find a comfort place in each other to remind yourselves that you’re allowed to have fun and live your lives o(*>ω<*)o
Park Jisung
i think it took quite a while to befriend him
his shyness can get the best of him sometimes it’s okay bby
but once you got hi to break out of his shell you’ve got yourself a lifelong best friend congrats (ര̀ᴗര́)و ̑̑
he shows his caring nature through small acts
texts you good luck and encourages you before award shows
becomes your dramatic weatherman
literally glitches if you ever have even a *slightly* sexy concept
“how did you like the dance, jisungie?”
“i-uh...um...it was...yeah...it was really uh *coughs* *clears throat* it was NICE, yeah...nice” (๑ּగ⌄ּగ๑)
ofc he *absolutely* loved it, he just respects you and looks up to you too much to make any further commentary
you coach each other through dance routines :3
you never fail to calm down and give confidence to jisung whenever his nerves get in the way
jaemin actually specifically asked you to look after jisung during his hiatus
jisung’s TMI’s sometimes involve you (´ㅂ`๑)
“today’s tmi? i started working on a surprise for you czennies...and i got help from a very talented performer”
the surprise was a dance cover choreographed and performed with you that was the death of your fandoms ੧| ⊗ ▾ ⊗ |୨
you can be considered childhood friends so you understand each other with little to no words spoken
that’s why everyone loves your ‘partners in pure crime’ friendship

Can u introduce yuzuru to us the caro way?👀
so you want to know about the one and only. ♡😌
yuzuru hanyū (25) of sendai, japan: the most beautiful ice prince with a heart of gold.
….an artist clearly not of this world, he’s been sent to us from another realm. 19 world records, two olympics won, dubbed the greatest figure skater of all time. and the most precious bean on top of that.
but let’s start from the beginning, shall we ♥︎
so, want to spot yuzu on the ice? use this checklist. slender silhouette, an even slimmer waist, feather-like outfits (he sketches those himself; the fandom lovingly calls him swanyu), soft blushy face. he has great androgyny.
outside of performances, you see him either with a deer’s gaze or the brightest, biggest eye smile. also, he’s usually found sitting with his wife:
which is the ice 😄 these two are together forever. you can discern yuzu from a mile away by how he treats his working ground.
there is a purity to him. you’d not guess that this is one of the most ardent athletes if you didn’t see what’s around his neck after competitions. the guy’s cuteness is as compelling as his skating technique.
look for it: yuzu’s face is super suave and rosy up close, even after his most energetic performances. some men are handsome, others pretty, he is both.
even acoustically, he’s hard to miss. applause is all around, and he’s highly expressive. if you see a crying young man getting the high score, that’s yuzuru hanyu. you’ve not seen more beautiful happy tears.
and score reactions, anyway:
so, aye loves, the rumors are true. a cutie-pie off the ice, animated, a real unabashed meme — yuzu is easy-going, talkative. cheery, cheeky, one of a kind. his facial expressions are a league of their own.
if you thought this is the sort of guy who watches cat videos, you are correct 😄
yuz-uwu hanyu, everybody:
his undoubtedly feline behaviour is often unexpected, it stands out with its adorableness, too. a sweetheart par excellence.
and, how else could it be: vice versa, the big beast on the rink. he’s cutesy, dorky, very well-spoken in daily life, but when it comes to skating, his seriousness escalates. you blink once and suddenly hanyu is a bedazzling, strutting lion :’D his performances stun with confident elegance.
he becomes full of ardor, drama, and focus. you’d never suspect so much fire burns in him. a showman and ambition icon, hands down.
his skating is dynamic, perfected, and emotional. if you want to see art and the extra mile, tune in when hanyu competes.
the downside is; more light, more shadow. it leaves him crawling on the ice afterwards. yuzu performs so hard, it’s worrying.
he delivers it all. you won’t believe it:
this guy is an asthmatic.
the symptoms aren’t as bad as they used to be, but there are still regular attacks. he said that he’ll never take it as an excuse and often recalls how he started skating because of it. he’s a badass, extremely inspiring. yuzuru defies all limits, including gravity. his jumps have legendary status.
off the rink, you guessed it: he turns into a wholly different person.
it all dissolves completely when he’s dorking around again.
don’t let it deceive you, he’s the no other option than first place type. he could not be any more decorated with titles, he achieved the grand slam in all competitions as of 2020. and still, king of sportsmanship hanyu is respectful and smiley towards all colleagues and never lets anyone feel left out. especially when it comes to his juniors (e.g. yuma kagiyama, 16, below) which says a lot about him.
he bows in every direction before an audience, too. lower than a 90° angle, even. this is more polite than any existing formality in japan.
talk about audience: i introduced fellow japanese skater shoma uno last week, who’s more uncomfortable with social contact and aggression. yuzu, extrovert he is: the exact opposite. he withers away with no people and competition. he’s befriended rivals, had crises over not having someone who could challenge him. when a competitor retires, he’s the one crying in their arms (e.g. with team mate and bff javier fernandez from spain below).
beside his competitive spirit and princely wow factor, hanyu is popular for his winnie pooh tissue box that he caresses, squeezes, and carries everywhere. he loves good luck charms & rituals, pooh is the most important one.
fans throw pooh plushies on the ice after his performances because of it. since it’s gotten so intense, yuzu recently started cleaning them up himself on top of the flower girls for the upcoming skater who could get delayed otherwise. (more about what happens with the piles of plushies later.)
so, the burning question is.
what made yuzuru hanyu emerge so outstanding an entertainer? how does someone causing so much uproar become like that? it’s not just what kind of appearance he was given, although he really looks his part to a T. you don’t have to be an insider to see it right away.
like literally to a fault. and you can tell the way his blades sound on the ice is different. it’s soft even if he does the most hardcore quadruple jumps. i think it’s because his drive to do this is a higher one, hanyu has an altered relationship with the ice. where his devotion comes from has a more severe reason so, massive trigger warning.
this is no exaggeration: yuzuru is considered a hero to the japanese. a survivor of the earthquake 2011, he narrowly escaped the collapsing rink in his hometown on that very day. he’s often talked about how the ice shattered underneath his feet and it was the moment that defined his life forever. he could have been dead by the age of 16. his motivation has been set ever since. this man is compelled by something bigger, that’s why you hear it and you feel it. he wants to skate not just for himself but others and seize every day.
youtube
much of his copious charity work — that’s where all the pooh plushies go — went to mend the consequences of the tsunami ever since, he’s looked upon as a great hope in japan. the minister gave him the people’s honor award in 2018.
now you know why yuzuru has such a fanbase and treats the ice as sacred, you see it in every gesture. his manners are without a single flaw, he helps staff repair the ice after performances.
you might think it’s odd, but he honors the ground. he’s invested in the integrity of it. that’s why he’s the best skater. it’s gratitude and the will to live fully.
he hates to fall on the ice, he hates to damage it. alongside his feathery weight, that’s why the sound he makes while gliding along is so tender.
i think that’s also why hanyu’s signature element is the ina bauer. it doesn’t rely on brutal force, instead this element slides across the rink like a swan. yeah, oh my god.
it’s his most well-known dramatic move. the way he surrenders into it.
hanyu’s back arch and perfect split allow him to do elements no other male skaters can. his biellmann spin, for instance. i know, it’s ridiculous.
and those are just two elements of dozens and dozens. hanyu is a kinetic wizard. i highly rec this record-breaking delivery of his olympic program. in front of his home crowd! he’s just… mind-boggling. i live for his smiles here.
youtube
exceptional skater, exceptional mentor: it’s time we look at another puzzle piece that made yuzu the way he is. the masterful brian orser is hanyu’s beloved coach. missing gold by just one mistake at the olympics 1988, brian is now committed to give others what he couldn’t have— successfully so.
orser took the ice prince to gold twice, this hasn’t happened in 66 years. brian is the nicest and most supportive pooh carrier and yuzu’s utmost rock. hanyu’s talent rests safely in these hands.
he gets strict about punctuality lmao! but other than that, his guidance is gentle. canadian he is, brian’s courteousness mixes well with yuzu’s politeness. their bond is strong. as. hell.
brian picked up yuzu from rock bottom several times. most fateful being hanyu’s accident with a fellow skater during competition warm-ups nov 2014. they collided at a high speed, it was unspeakably nasty. yuzu got knocked out for half a minute and had grave breathing problems but still decided to skate on with what later turned out as an almost-concussion. brian was the most worried ice dad in the world that day.
yuzu cried and crouched and bled like mad and my heart has been broken ever since. i hope he never suffers like that again. promise me you don’t search up the video, it’s a harrowing watch like a stab to the chest. sadly enough, hanyu’s body has still been a notorious wreck, esp. ankle issues regularly give him a hard time 😔
it hurts like a bitch with every jump landing but he takes meds and still manages to win, god knows how. sometimes even with crutches on the podium. at his worst, he’s still the best, it’s a tragedy.
he’s been recovering, or always is, but he pushes himself through injuries. his ambition and perfectionism are boundless. the cause is more important to him than his well-being. this is not an easy guy to stan once you see how he sacrifices and self-destructs. so, it’s good someone protects him.
mostly from himself because nobody has profoundly surpassed hanyu. he has let himself no choice than to contest himself. not even health, only age can stop yuzu. i think that brian understands this ‘curse of a genius’ effect. his mere presence can make hanyu say these rare words:
his two other coaches contribute to that. tracy wilson (left) has proven to understand his playful side the best while ghislain briand (right) helps yuzuru deal with his fears. so you got 3 people taking care of the golden boy. brian once said: “he is very sheltered” and you can see it’s true.
yuzu eased into learning english and communicates well with his coaches. like with everything, he studies hard and often forces himself to speak during interviews to practice. his skills are astounding. his speaking voice is also very soothing, very amicably low and high alike. yuzu is highly intelligent. he always says something eloquent and interesting.
now, privately, hanyu is very much like you’d expect someone so devoted to skating would be like. he doesn’t go out, has no social media, can’t eat nor sleep very well. no cameras allowed during practice. it figures he is attached to winnie pooh, think about it. in the cartoon, pooh is someone who sleeps, eats, and engages with friends plenty.
these are the things hanyu can’t do, doesn’t have time/energy/incentive for. he is barred from balance in life but can at least admire this little carefree plushie for it. especially because pooh represents eating lots while yuzuru doesn’t have a good relationship with food (he says it doesn’t go well with jumps etc.), hanyu lives vicariously through him.
what’s more, you have to see how he throws himself onto others and never wants to let go, yuzuru is extremely cuddly.
to the degree that mere social customs can’t meet how much he really needs. so, what else can he resort to, he loves mascots and plushies. it’s how the tale goes in japan generally, tough work ethic, high responsibility, high pressure, so people turn to cute fluffy things.
he always fondles pooh’s head, even pretends he’s come to life so he has someone to snuggle with. i think that his isolated lifestyle doesn’t help. so, he gets his affection at least there, you can see how happy it makes him. and again: he does this all for charity.
that’s why fellow skaters are so important to hanyu. it really brings out his social spirit and comforts him best, it’s so wholesome. i’ve not seen someone react so relieved to being embraced, like he’s not been touched for months. skating this, skating that. at the end of the day, hanyu wants love.
as he once said, what motivates him is to express himself in the first place. hanyu is a romantic. it’s written all over him. it reflects in his music choices, his elegant motion, how he designs his outfits:
… and how thoughtfully he talks about marriage. he has big plans for starting a family and coaching after he retires. i won’t be the only one squeezing lucky charm pooh in my imagination so it turns out well for him. please make this heart of gold heal and see all his wishes come true ♡🐻
#thank you for attending this talk ❄️⛸#i need a moment this was emotional#figure skating#yuzuru hanyu#brian orser#anon#cub mail 🐅#long post#team japan

The Oscar for prettiest girlfriend goes to…
Pairing: Ben Hardy x Reader
Word count: 1891
Summary: You and Ben have been dating in secret for months. But now you’re up for an Oscar, and maybe it’s time to tell the world?
Warnings: none really? Ben Hardy being a cutie maybe. And this is not beta’d.
You took one last look at yourself in the full-length mirror in your hotel room. You tried your best to smile at your reflection, but your stomach was to full of nerves. This was your first time at the Oscars, and you were actually nominated for best actress in a supporting role! It was a huge deal, and you had to look your best. The dress you were wearing was both bigger and heavier than you were. It was deep red, a colour you had never thought you suited until your stylist had forced you to try the dress on. Now, you kind of never wanted to take it off. You felt like a princess.
“Y/N? We have to go!” the voice of your manager, Charlotte, called through the door.
“Coming!” you called back, and walked to the door as quickly as you could in you sky high heels and gigantic skirt. The dress was floor length, even in your heels, with red lace covering the whole thing. The bodice was tight fit, off the shoulders, and the skirts busted out from a little above your hips. It was so stunning you didn’t want to sit down or do anything in fear of ruining it. A long with your manager and your body guard, Simon, you made your way out of the hotel, towards the limo.
“Y/N L/N! I thought that was you!” you looked to you left, and saw Olivia Coleman walking towards another car.
“Olivia!” You smiled, and embraced your fellow actress.
“You look, wow! I love what you have done with your hair!” Olivia said. You blushed and thanked her. You were eternally grateful for your make-up artist, Sam. The two of you had been friends since 2011, when Sam first did your make-up in your first movie. Now, Sam had styled your Y/H/C hair in the perfect style that matched your dress perfectly. Sam was truly a gem.
“Good luck tonight!” You said to Olivia, as the two of you were ushered into different limos. You enjoyed the drive to the award show. You had a class of champagne with your staff, and went over what you would say in your acceptance speech, if you won. You pulled up to the red carpet, and gratefully accepted the hand of your bodyguard to get out of the car. Charlotte quickly made sure your dress was trailing out behind you in the right way, before nodding to you.
“Remember, talk to as many people as possible. And smile, smile, smile, dear. I’ll be there to move you forward. Always smile. Cameras everywhere. And just remember to keep a good posture, so your dress looks it’s best. You look stunning. Now, walk,” Charlotte instructed, before gently pushing you towards the beginning of the carpet.
There were flashing lights and cameras everywhere. People were shouting to you from all over. For every few steps, a few more before you posed, and smiled, and smiled, and smiled. Your cheeks were hurting, but you felt gorgeous anyway. As you walked, you greeted a few fellow actors and actresses on the way. You even got a hug from Chris Evans.
“I can die happy now,” you whispered to Charlotte, who rolled her eyes, but still smiled at you.
“Y/N!” an interviewer called out, waving you over. It felt like interview number one million, though it was probably only number seven.
“Hello,” you said with a huge smile to interviewer. The man grinned back.
“Hi, yourself. First of all, you look stunning!” he began.
“Oh, thank you! I love your suit as well,” you said back, and it wasn’t really a lie. It was a nice, black velvet suit. A little excessive for a interviewer, but you do you.
“So, Y/N, Y/N, Y/N. Hollywood’s new favourite girl. I must ask, how does it feel to go from (Hometown) in (home country), to the biggest award show in the world?”
“I-I’m not sure,” you laughed. The interviewer joined. “I suppose it is this constant feeling of this all being a dream, and that I’ll just wake up one day, and be back in my bed at home. It’s-it’s a very surreal feeling to be here, for sure,”
“Yes, I can see that. Now, I must ask you, though I’m sure you’ve been asked this many times before. But how was it for you, to play a lesbian, and to also play the daughter of such an amazing actor as-“ suddenly something caught your eye, and your attention was quickly diverted away from the interviewer, who kept talking about your on-screen father. Walking down the carpet, being taken photos of, were the stars of Bohemian Rhapsody. Joe Mazzello, Gwilym Lee, Allen Leech, and last but not least, Ben Hardy. Aka, your boyfriend of four months. Not that anyone knew that, except for a few of your closest friends and family.
“Sorry, I just have to go really quick. I’ll be right back,” you said, cutting of the interviewer mid-sentence. Before Charlotte could ask what you were doing, you had set of power-walking down the carpet as quickly as possible. You moved around another actress you vaguely recognized, before coming face to face with Ben. At first it didn’t seem like he realized it was you. Then, his face brightened up in a massive grin.
“Y/N!” Ben said, before putting his arms around your waist, and picking you up. You laughed as you hugged him, and spun half a circle around. Ben put you down again, and you couldn’t help but beam at him.
“You look stunning,” he said with a smile, not loud enough to be heard by any of the interviewer now shouting questions as you. Suddenly remembering that you weren’t alone, you let go of Ben, and took a few steps back.
“Not so bad yourself,” you said with a kind smile, though you could see the slight hurt from when you pulled away. You mouthed sorry to him, just as Joe, Allen and Gwilym caught up with you.
“Y/N! Hi, wow!” Joe said, smiling at you, before giving you a hug.
“Joe, hi!” you answered, before moving on to hug the others to. You had met the boys some six months ago, when their press tour for Bohemian Rhapsody, and the press tour for your movie, had been in the same place at the same time. You and Ben had hit it of immediately, but that didn’t mean you weren’t friends with the other to.
“Y/N,” you looked over at Charlotte, you gently tapped the watch on her wrist. You nodded.
“I need to go. See you in there! Good luck!” You said, smiling at them. Ben caught your eyes, and smiled sadly, before you turned and walked away. Not exactly the time for feelings.
You were sat with your co-stars, your director and a few others who were related to your movie. They had just finished calling out the names of all the nominees for your category, best actress in a supporting role.
“And the winner is…” You held your breath. This was it. You looked up at the host. He opened his mouth, “Y/N L/N, for We will meet again!”
You froze for a second. Then your co-star, Aiden Turner pulled you out of you chair, and hugged you.
“Amazing!” the Irish man said with a grin, as you let go to hug others. Your brain was trying to process it all. You had won! Once the hugs were done, you were lead onto the stage. On the way, you passed Ben, who sent you the biggest smile, and applauded along with everyone else. You accepted the little statue, and turned to the mic.
“Wow, I cannot believe this is real,” you began, before pouring your heart into your well-practiced speech. Afterwards, you were lead into a room to take pictures and answer questions. It was all quite surreal. But here you were. It had happened, this was real.
Everything after that passed super quickly. You were thrilled when Rami won best actor, and when Olivia won best actress. After the show, you left, taking the limo back to the hotel. As soon as you unlocked your door, a pair of hands grabbed yours, and pulled you inside. Before you could say anything, a pair of lips met your own.
“Hey, you,” you said with a smile as you pulled away from Ben.
“Hey, princess,” he grinned before kissing you again. You laughed against his lips. God, you had missed him by your side tonight. And you told him that.
“We could just go public, you know,” he said, looking at you. But you shook your head.
“You know how I feel about having everyone all up in our business,” you said, and he nodded.
“I know, babe. But, I think it’s my business to get you out of this dress. It’s far too much fabric,” he told you with a large grin. You shook your head and laughed, but there were no protests when he began pulling at the zipper on the back. Instead you began unbuttoning his shirt, not really caring that you should be changing for the after party.
The next day the two of you spent in bed. There was no need to get up, so why bother? Ben was tracing figures into the back of your thigh, as you were scrolling through twitter.
“People won’t shut up about Lady Gaga and Bradley Coopers performance last night,” you said to Ben, who nuzzled your cheek.
“There was a lot of chemistry there though,” he said, and you nodded.
“Yeah, poor Irina,” you said and he laughed. You read on, “Oh! Listen here. Y’all keep talking about Lady Gaga an B Cooper, but did anyone see Ben Hardy and Y/N L/N? And another, Ben Hardy lifting up Y/N L/N and spinning her vs Lady Gaga staring into B Coopers eyes. We really supposed to think none of them are dating, yeah right.”
“What about us?” Ben asked, and you could hear the smile in his voice. You clicked on the hashtag for your own name. There were a lot of people congratulating you on your victory, but also some saying you had robbed others.
“This one, hear. Y/N L/N really out here living everyone’s dream, hugging Ben Hardy. Oh, and more. Y/N L/N is the most relatable celebrity, because I to would run up and hug Ben Hardy if I ever saw him,” you loved reading these things out loud. It made you feel good to know that people thought this about you and your boyfriend.
“Haha, listen to this one.” You continued. “Y/N L/N just up and left her interview to hug Ben Hardy and that is such a mood, you have no idea. And, this is my favourite. Everyone saying Y/N L/N is so luck for hugging Ben Hardy? Bitch, please, Ben is lucky to even touch our queen Y/N!” You laughed, and Ben joined you.
“I am luck, aren’t I? Also, people are so weird,” he whispered, and you turned your head to look at him.
“Yeah, they are. But you’re not,” you said, and smiled as he kissed your lips softly.
“I love you,” he whispered against your lips. “I’m dating an Oscar winner, amazing!”
You laughed sarcastically.
“I love you to, dork.”

He Is Psychometric Episode 15-16 Review (Series Finale)
This review contains spoilers from episode 15 and 16. You have been warned.
I can’t believe at one point of this whole story my biggest concern was proving Sung-mo had feelings for Ji-soo, which for the record he totally did, but how could I possible imagine the writer would take the darkest road of all.
Starting with the Yeon-song apartment building murders and fire, I was holding out hope for Sung-mo to be innocent but that would mean there was hope for him and, let’s be honest, he never had a fighting chance. From the moment he was introduced to us, his character was already cryptic af, clearly playing a long game, and we were wishing for answers... how naive we were.
I have to wonder, what would have happened if Mom and Sung-mo wouldn't have isolated themselves so much from other people after they escaped the first time? Would it had changed anything? Did they even know how to trust others after so many years living inside a cage and then having to run away constantly? Would Sung-mo had called Ahn’s father that night? Would have he realized, by interacting further with others, that not everyone was a disappointment like the police who didn’t investigate his mother’s case or a crazy person like Kang Geun-tae?
Up to that point in his story, the night of the fire, Sung-mo had no real interaction with anyone else other than Mom and Kang Geun-tae. Sure, he had his moments with Jae-in, Ahn and their respective fathers but they were small and insignificant in comparison to everything else he went through. No, in my eyes, Sung-mo remains a victim of abuse and fear who was pushed too far.
I even wondered if Mom was to blame. Whatever her nurturing was lacking because she made an emphasis on intellectual understanding, instead of actual interaction with others and learning through practice. But then I remembered, she sent Sung-mo to school not only to learn but to try have a normal life, make friends, and he lied to her. He chose to stay at the door of the apartment building as a lookout.
Then I wondered if perhaps she relied on him too much, since she was the adult and he was the child but then it’s wrong to put blame on her in the first place because she too was a victim. With more than two decades of confinement, sexual, psychological and emotional abuse, she was doing her best. She was as terrified and desperate as Sung-mo, and what else could she have possible done when -at the time of the incident- even she wasn’t willing to trust or interact with others just in case Kang Geun-tae showed up?
At the same time, tho, I feel she was so oblivious to other’s pain that she failed to really understood the pain her own son was going through, even before the apartment fire. Did she really never suspected what he was doing in order to protect her? And even all those years later, was she truly so blind as to believe Sung-mo was using his work as a prosecutor to send Kang Geun-tae to jail?
No. Sung-mo was doomed from the beginning and so were all the relationships he built through the years, once he understood that other people are the ones who help us experience and understand emotions, but by then it was too late. He had already gone a path with no return. He felt guilt towards Ahn and Jae-in most of all because their respective parents had been kind to him and lend a helping hand, understanding he needed one. And because he didn’t know how or wasn’t able to accept that help, he ended up killing one of them and sending the other to jail for a crime he didn't commit. Same goes for Ji-soo. Sung-mo pushed her away not only to protect her from Kang Geun-tae but because he understood they couldn’t have a future. Sung-mo always knew where his story ended and that meant paying for his crimes.
The most tragic part of the whole story is what finding out the truth meant for Ahn. After the death of his parents, it was Sung-mo and Ji-soo who took the place of role models for him. Perhaps it sounds crazy because they were only 10 or 11 years older, but they were his new family. The people who believed in him, who took care of him, nagged him to do better in school, and gave him a home. By the end of the show, they are both scars and bittersweet memories of a person whose death he feels responsible for and another who he cares about but can’t forgive. I know we have talked about how Ahn is one of the most emotionally stable characters and I appreciate the show making us understand he’s struggling quietly with his feelings towards Sung-mo and Ji-soo, but I don’t think he will ever be able to forgive Sung-mo. Understand him, yes, as we have already seen. Forgive? I’m not sure.
As for Jae-in, even though she cared for Ji-soo and Sung-mo, her journey was always about proving her father’s innocence. It was heartbreaking to hear her say that at one point she doubted him, especially when we have seen throughout so many episodes how filial she is to him. This confession I find it a little out of character but reasonable when you think about the bigger picture. I’m glad she has found a group of colleagues she can trust to do proper police work.
Which takes me to YSS Construction Company and the government corruption case. Personally, I find it was wrapped up quite nicely and a little rushed. There are still many connections to the criminal organization and other officials but that remains to be solved, which is something I am guessing Jae-in, Detective Nam and Detective Lee will make a lifelong goal to achieve.
The half-baked conclusion to this storyline was so disheartening in some aspects that even Dr. Hong decided to take a sabbatical until she felt it was right to comeback to work for the police and prosecutor’s office. Let’s be honest, without Ji-soo, she didn’t know who to trust.
Not everyone had a bittersweet ending, tho, since Detective Nam and Aunt Sook-ja have been dating for a while and they are terrible at keeping it a secret. But another two cuties have nothing to hide: Dae-bong’s years of hard work (and sort of stalking, let’s face it) trying to win over So-hyun finally paid off. They all end up a happy and big family that Ahn and Jae-in can rely on.
Overall, He is Psychometric turned out to be the dark horse of 2019. It came out of nowhere becoming one of the best shows of the year thanks to a compelling story and solid performances. The main four are all relative new as leads but they carried the show with ease.
After Kim Kwon won Best New Actor award last year, as long time fan, I was looking forward to see what his next project would be and I’m not surprised he picked this particular story. He’s always been more drawn to complex and layered characters, and I think we can all agree Sung-mo was exactly that. Many people have commented on twitter they have fallen for him, not only for his good looks, but also for his performance and it makes me incredible happy he’s being recognized.
Kim Da-som has come a long way since the first roles she took on. Her performance as Ji-soo was so good, she became the source light when the story started to go a darker path. And once it was gone, so was all hope for a happy ending. It’s a difficult task to become the heart of a series but she did it gracefully.
I’m mostly impressed with Park Jinyoung and Shin Ye Eun, whom I confess I hadn’t heard about before this show. I believe it’s both their first time in leading roles but I’m sure we will see them in other projects soon enough.

Tonight, the Golden Globes kicks off the 2019 red carpet season. So many of 2018’s biggest stars stepped out to represent their work and for many it was their first time. Soft colors seemed to be popular throughout the night and were among my favorites!
Kiki Layne
The If Beale Street Could Talk star made her red carpet debut in a custom blush pink Dior Haute Couture gown. The tulle, off-the-shoulder dress featured a corset type top which I absolutely adored. | Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |
Regina King
Regina King accepted the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk. And she did it in absolute style. She wore a strapless, rose pink gown by Alberta Ferreti and shined in sequins. | Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |
Taraji P. Henson
Is there a time where Taraji doesn’t slay the red carpet? She rocked the red carpet in a low-cut, emerald green Vera Wang gown. The cinched belt showed off her figure, the jewels sparkled, and the hair and make-up was as fierce as she was. | Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |
Emma Stone
Emma is forever a favorite. Nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Favourite, she stepped out in a soft pink Louis Vuitton gown. The dress featured some elaborate embroidery and as always, she looked like a classic Hollywood actress. | Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |
Constance Wu
This was such a big night for the Crazy Rich Asians star and Best Actress Nominee. As the first Asian actress to be nominated in the category after 50+ years, she stepped out looking gorgeous in a nude Vera Wang dress. She was one of the many stars who rocked tulle and I loved the little hint of color with the orange belt.| Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |
Gemma Chan
In 2018, Gemma Chan became one of my new favorite fashion icons. She stepped out in a blue Maison Valentino Couture dress. She exuded grace and elegance just like her Crazy Rich Asians character, Astrid Leung. Her look was my favorite of the night.| Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |
Kristen Bell
The Good Place star looked like a classic Hollywood star in a low-cut, blush pink dress by Zuhair Murad. Her and her husband, Dax Shepard, served some looks together. But my absolute favorite was just watching Kristen get ready through her IG. She’s such a relatable nerd.| Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |
Kaley Cuoco
The Big Bang Theory star strolled the red carpet with her husband, Karl Cook. The cobalt blue and white dress by Monique L’Huillier also featured pockets which is woman’s absolute dream when it comes to formal wear.| Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga looked like she was channeling Cinderella in a baby blue gown by Valentino. The train appeared to be at least 4-ft long, so she definitely had to have a lot of assistance down the red carpet. Joined by her A Star Is Born co-star Bradley Cooper, she presented the first award of the night.| Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |
Danai Gurira
This dress was absolute fire – literally. The custom Rodarte gown was inspired by Zimbabwe’s national flower, the Flame Lily. She joined her Black Panther cast mates as they celebrated their Best Motion Picture nomination.| Photo Source: Getty Images via Zimbio |
Best Dressed Men
Justin Hartley is known for his role on This Is Us, but i’m over here admiring the former Green Arrow in a black and white Brunello Cucinelli suit.
Richard Madden won Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama series. And my heart melted for Rob Stark/Prince Charming in his Dior suit.
Michael B. Jordan rocked a custom Burberry suit and he never fails in a suit.r23s v
Timothee Chalamet was an absolute cutie in Louis Vuitton. He rocked that bedazzled harness!
Manny Jacinto had to be included in my list because his character on The Good Place is a homie and he cleans up very well in a suit.
Who were your faves of the night?
xoxo,
Adele

Judi Dench on playing Victoria again
The diamond dame is celebrating 60 years in the acting biz with a second pop at playing the queen on film. This time with a rather beautiful young man — ‘Who wouldn’t?’ By Louis Wise
It was on September 9, 1957 that Judi Dench made her debut as Ophelia in the Old Vic’s Hamlet. Over the six decades since, she has taken hundreds more roles, won dozens of awards and plaudits, and become embedded in the national psyche. What is the greatest misconception about her? A pause. “‘National treasure,’” she purrs, in that distinctive Denchian croak. “F****** ‘national treasure’!”
We are sitting in the library of the Covent Garden Hotel, in London, where she is doing promotional duties for her latest effort, Victoria and Abdul. At 82, she looks gorgeous, if a little shaky: the rattle of the bangles on her arms is complemented by a persistent cough, accompanied by streaming eyes. (She dismisses the suggestion that it’s hay fever, but isn’t sure what it is instead.) She is dressed in the expected boho-Denchy pale linen and has tiny feet, her toenails painted scarlet. Will she celebrate her 60 years in the biz? “Oh, I doubt it, no.” A small pause. “I might have an extra glass of champagne that day.”
Dench is, as you’d probably expect, both warm and brisk from the off, but the first time she gets properly animated is when I mention the “n******* t*******” tag. We know she hates it, she says it all the time, but I only bring it up to ask whether it’s an albatross when she’s looking for roles. As soon as the phrase even looms, though: “Oh, please don’t say that! Everyone says it, everyone. It’s horrible, it’s awful. I hate it.” So, yes, it’s the biggest misconception about her. She later qualifies her answer. “I’d like much more to be the Notes on a Scandal woman than the Marigold Hotel woman, do you know what I mean?”
It’s bizarre to define Dench’s career in terms of two roles, considering this is a woman who has been Cleopatra, Elizabeth I, Lady Macbeth, M from the Bond films and, yes, Queen Victoria, but you can see what she’s getting at. In 2007’s Notes on a Scandal, Dench was exceptional as the tortured, torturing Barbara Covett, unhealthily obsessed with her younger colleague (played by Cate Blanchett); in 2011’s The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, she had a far more fragrant, floaty time in the silver-surfers drama set in India. It’s the former that she hungers for, even now. “Oh, I loved it! I loved every second. That’s the part I’m always looking for.”
Furious old lesbian roles not being more forthcoming, though, she is back to playing the queen-empress for a second time, after Mrs Brown. Would she have liked to play any other crowned heads? “No, I don’t particularly want to play queens. You don’t actually think of Cleopatra [‘Cleoparrtra’] as a queen. You just think of her as somebody who behaves rather badly, now and again. But — if there’s a queen that behaves really badly...” She mulls it over. “You know, I long to find this film where this woman walks a tightrope and turns into a dragon. If that part is around, and she happens to be a queen, that’s fine, too.”
Sadly, perhaps, Victoria and Abdul does not require this of her. It’s another anniversary of sorts, since Mrs Brown dates from 1997, and it was this that launched her surprising, late-blooming Hollywood career. (It was a TV movie for the BBC until Harvey Weinstein snapped it up and put it in cinemas, earning Dench the first of seven Oscar nominations in the process.) “Is it 20 years since I did Mrs Brown?” she asks. Yes, isn’t it odd? It seems only about 12 years to me. “It seems like 40 to me.”
The role is not the only similarity. Like Mrs Brown, Victoria and Abdul charts the unusual relationship the monarch had with a man in her long years of widowhood. Whereas the first film concentrated on her intimacy with John Brown, roughly covering the 1860s to the 1880s, the second starts up in the late 1880s, when Victoria, even older, even grumpier and even more alone, is suddenly taken with a young Indian servant, Abdul Karim (played by the Bollywood cutie Ali Fazal), who has been brought over from Agra. Victoria makes him join her private household and he becomes a favourite, educating her on the country of which she is empress; she designates him her “Munshi”, an Urdu word for “teacher”.
All lovely, but of course this goes down like a lead balloon with the monarch’s stiff inner circle, for reasons of class and colour, and things get tricky and sour. The film, directed by Stephen Frears and scripted by Lee Hall, is a game of two halves: naughtily funny to start, achingly sad at the close, as Victoria reaches the end of her life and their friendship reaches its limits. Dench says she had “no intention” of ever returning to Victoria, but that the script won her over.
“I thought it just gave another huge insight into her life. The whole episode with John Brown was strange, but I thought it was totally understandable, which I believe that this relationship was, too. [Here was] somebody that she found, and she could just talk to him, and he talk to her, and she could ask questions and learn something.”
How much of Victoria’s rapport with Karim is an echo of the John Brown episode? “I think the need is the echo,” she replies. After Prince Albert’s sudden death, Victoria was left alone, without a man she could be utterly devoted to. “Yes, she liked a chap around,” Dench nods — which, with the lusty Victoria, is an understatement.
No hint of sex here, but certainly romance: a man “with whom she could actually relax, all formal protocol cancelled. A real, proper relationship, being able to speak her mind to somebody — I think that’s what it was. Apart from the fact that he was an extremely beautiful young man. Who wouldn’t?” She smiles gleefully. “If Ali [Fazal] walked in now, you wouldn’t recognise me. I’d be a spring chicken, all over the place. So beautiful.”
As she says, she is not quite a spring chicken today, but she fires on nearly all cylinders. The main thing that strikes me is how funny she is, specifically her timing and delivery; she can make all sorts of lines work. It reminds me that my first experience of Dench wasn’t as the great Hollywood matriarch, but on a much cosier and smaller scale, in the BBC sitcom As Time Goes By.
Time has indeed gone by, though she doesn’t want to moan about it. There are, of course, her eyes: for years now, her eyesight has steadily gone, as she suffers from macular degeneration. It’s always bad, but it’s getting worse. She says she’s finally going to tackle audiobooks, as she can’t read novels any more. I am politely surprised — I would have thought she had fathomed that a long time ago. “Yes, but you know, you think you can struggle on. But last week we ran over the only pair of glasses of mine that remotely worked.”
Television, though, she still tries at. “We’ve been watching Poldark, which for me is Pol-very-very-dark. I keep going, ‘Who is that speaking?’ I remember Robin Ellis doing the original all those years ago. You don’t remember,” she says, appraising me. “You were in short trousers then.” I wasn’t even born, I’m afraid. “You weren’t born? Oh, thanks so much. Thank you so much.”
If she can laugh about it, there are sadder sides, too. Recently her eldest brother, to whom she was close, died. She was close to her whole family, with whom she had a “glorious” time. “I’ve thought a lot about it recently. I keep wanting to refer back, and there’s no one to do that with. It is hard when that happens.”
In many ways, though, she seems to have been very lucky: she had a blissfully happy 30-year marriage to the actor Michael Williams, who died in 2001, and with whom she had a daughter, Finty, who has provided her with a grandson, Sammy. I ask Dench when she was happiest in her life.
“Oh, I don’t know. I have a happy nature. I have been very, very unhappy, like everybody, but usually I have quite a sunny nature, which is something you don’t manufacture. It’s either something you’re born with, or you’re not. And I think that comes from my parents. They had great, great senses of humour.” Her childhood in Yorkshire sounds glorious: play-acting and cycling and going to the theatre (her parents were involved in am-dram), and when she went to boarding school nearby, that was “heaven”, too. So you didn’t even have a tricky adolescence?
“Well, I remember my mother saying to me when I was at art school, ‘You are without doubt the most intolerant person I’ve ever met.’ I think I found fault with everything. And I remember not being able to say anything back, and just looking out of the window. She said it to my back.” A pause. “It’s very good to be told that early.” Did you take it on board? “I hope so. Because I think I am quite tolerant now. To a certain extent.”
What can’t you tolerate? “I can’t tolerate the bastardisation of the English language,” she says with a cackle. “I’m always screaming at Sammy. He says, ‘I was laying there.’ And I say, ‘Hens lay — lying, lying!’” She also says that she doesn’t like it when an actor turns up to rehearsals unprepared: “It’s not up to you to take up another person’s time.” This is easy to visualise. She says often how much she loves working in an ensemble, but you can be sure that once she’s in one, the dame is very much a dame.
I ask who, of all the people she has met, she’d like to talk to again. “Oh, Gielgud. So funny! Terribly funny and irrelevant — I mean irreverent! Oh, he would send me up for that.” Also, she would like to meet Shakespeare, “to see if he had any more plays up his sleeve, or doublet”.
Lots of interviews dwell on Dench’s grief after losing Williams (and her new relationship with David Mills, whom she met at the opening of his squirrel sanctuary). But I was interested in how she and Williams met, and how it felt at the time. She met him in a pub on Drury Lane, in the early 1960s. Did she find him attractive at first?
“No, we just laughed a lot. And we went on meeting like that occasionally, and having a good laugh.” Things came to a head when he joined her on a theatrical tour in Australia, and he took it upon himself to propose; they finally wed in 1971. Had it been her ambition to be married? In the early 1970s, I’d assume mid-thirties was late for such a thing, especially for a woman wanting children.
“Oh, I wanted to be married and have six children! That’s a big regret in my life. But at least I have one divine girl, and a grandson.” But was she panicked at all about whether she’d settle down? You see, Judi, I’m 34 and single. “No, 34 is fine,” she says firmly. “It’s fine.” Yes, yes, but did you feel that way at the time?
“Oh, I know, but I was in love so, so much, all the time,” she replies dreamily. Before Michael? “Oh yeah. Mmm.” With varying levels of success? “Oh, hopeless.” Unrequited? “No!” She gives a cough, which for once might be a planned one. “No. Requited! It was just the most glorious time, a wonderful, wonderful time,” she says. “So don’t give up because you’re 34. Certainly don’t.”
The Munshi’s tale
Victoria and Abdul’s story began in 1887, her golden jubilee year. As part of the celebrations, she was presented with two Indian servants from Agra. Victoria took a shine to the more handsome of the two and integrated him into her household. For Abdul Karim, a humble clerk, this was a vertiginous elevation, though he balked at the menial work she demanded and asked to be sent home. The queen, 68, besotted with the 24-year-old, refused.
Very soon, she promoted him from simple manservant to “Munshi”, or teacher, asking him to give her lessons in Hindustani. The fruits of these labours are her Hindustani Journals, all 13 volumes of which are at Windsor Castle. They are a symbol of the empress-queen’s fervour for all things Indian, as encouraged by Karim — not least a good curry. Chicken and dal were her favourites.
Victoria’s family and entourage detested Karim. They railed and plotted against him, even threatening a mass walkout in 1897, but Victoria stood firm. When she died, however, retribution was swift. The new Edward VII ordered that all trace of Karim be removed; the king’s sister Beatrice excised all signs of him from her mother’s diary. Karim was sent back to India, where he would die eight years later in 1909, aged 46. Luckily, though, he left a diary with his relatives — a huge help to the journalist Shrabani Basu when she started researching his extraordinary story a few years ago. It’s on her book that Stephen Frears’s film is based.
A small trace of Karim survives at Victoria’s private retreat on the Isle of Wight, Osborne House. Two photographs hang in her dressing room, one on top of the other: one is of John Brown, the Scotsman who guided her through the darkest years of her widowhood; the other of her dear Munshi, who consoled her thereafter.
#It was on September 9 1957 that Judi Dench made her debut as Ophelia in the Old Vic’s Hamlet. Over the six decades since she has taken hundr#judi dench#gorgeous photo#1837#27aug2017

Good boy! Dylan the Papillon is named Best in Show
A Papillon called Dylan has won the coveted Best in Show prize at Crufts – the first time the breed has taken the top prize.
The much coveted rosette was awarded to the Belgium dog this evening when the competition reached its finale in Birmingham. Dylan was also named winner of the Toy group earlier in the four day dog show.
His owner Kathleen Roosens, who gave him a kiss, called him a ‘butterfly’ who she had nicknamed ‘the villain’ for his habit of coming in muddy from walks outdoors.
Judge Dan Ericson, said he had been ‘spoiled for choice’ but that his eyes were drawn to this ‘beautiful dog’ who had ‘everything you could look for in the breed’, plus personality.

Dylan and owner Kathleen Roosens took a victory lap after he was named best in show during the final day of Crufts
Earlier this evening a Shih Tzu, called Hearty Love Him If You Dare took the ‘best in group’ prize in the Utility category.
Owners of the most well groomed dogs in the business did not leave anything to chance – even if their canine friends were impervious to pressure – with some taking naps in between competition.
The annual event, founded by Charles Cruft in the late 19th century and now held at the Birmingham NEC, brings thousands of dogs to the Midlands city – with thousands of viewers watching the action unfold on television.
Hopefuls tried to take the prestigious award from Tease, a Scottish Whippet owned by Yvette Short who won last year.
It’s a dog’s life! One furry competitor, a large poodle, sinks its teeth into a sponge while waiting for its moment in the spotlight

Nothing is left to chance as poodles are groomed before making their way to the arena, down to their puffy ankles
While most dogs have to be satisfied with only watching from the comfort of their homes, this year’s fierce competitors are getting ready for the 128th edition of the competition’s big finish.
The day debuted at 9:30am with the first round of the agility championship, which focused on jumping.
This was followed by the dog activities display at 10:20am and the Good Citizen Dog Scheme display at 10:40am.
This glossy contestant is all prepped and ready for the big show and takes a much deserved nap on its pink pillow
This Yorkshire terrier full of ribbons patiently waits for its owner to be finished with the grooming so it can wow all the judges
This fierce four-legged competitor is not afraid to show a little skin
It’s a long wait until Best in Show, which will be awarded tonight at 8pm. This owner bites his time with his furry companion with a well-deserve cuddle session
The second round of the agility competition took place at 11. Soon to follow were the Lowland Search and Rescue at 12:15pm, some heelwork to music at 12:40 and the Gundog Display at 12:45.
At 1:05pm, Southern Golden Retrievers strutted their stuff on the ring in teams.
The four-day-long competition will culminate this afternoon with the agility championship final, the YKC Stakes Final and Presentation and group judging events and presentations for utility and toy.
Later, the Presentation of the Police Dog Team Operational and Humanitarian Action of the Year Award will take place, right before the stage is prepped for the event everybody’s waiting for: Best in Show.
Everything needs to be perfect for this white beauty while its owner busies themselves brushing its immaculate hair
This poodle is all ready for action and clings on to a sequin bone while waiting to be judged
Dogs wear hairspray? Grooming that larger-than-life quiff is a two-man job
The world-famous event has courted controversy in recent years with protesters calling the competition ‘cruel’, although the UK Kennel Club, who are behind the event, say they’re ‘committed to ensuring that all dogs have the opportunity to lead healthy, happy lives, with responsible owners’.
The pooch-filled pow-wow was established by Charles Cruft in 1891 as a much smaller event held at the Royal Agricultural Hall in Islington, and has grown to become the world’s biggest dog show.
Have no fear, this furry competitor can count on his owner’s expert hand to guide him around the arena

Shih Tzu’s wait to enter the show ring during the final day of the Crufts Dog Show in Birmingham
Finally it’s show time! Shih Tzus flock the arena of Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre (NEC)
Every year bookmakers see dog fans placing bets on breeds likely to scoop the top prize. Last year’s overall winner was Tease, a whippet from Scotland but Bookies Betway has revealed that this year’s favourite to walk away with the rosette is the gundog category, which last won the category in 2017. Odds are currently at 11/8 with terriers nipping at the heels with odds of 7/4.
This obedient Dalmatian remains calm under pressure as he is being judged on the ring
This cutie peers into its judge’s eyes – but will it win them over?
A judge has been forced to step down after it was revealed he was once involved with scientific experiments on beagles.
Ron James had been selected as one of the elite panel choosing the Best In Show champion at tonight’s finale of the world’s biggest dog show. But two weeks ago, the vet and expert beagle breeder was told to stand aside.
The Kennel Club, which runs Crufts, gave no explanation for his sudden removal.

Tactical Guide to Brian Ortega Vs. Frankie Edgar
With two feet of different sizes and one eye much lower than the other, the reanimated mishmash of corpses that is UFC 222 stumbles over the horizon to inflict itself upon the fight world this weekend. While Cris Cyborg vs. Nobody has proven an effective draw on televised events, it’s hard to imagine even the most hardcore MMA fan being happy about laying down $60 to watch her fight Yana Kunitskaya—certainly not when it’s so easy to find actual snuff films on the internet without paying for the privilege. There was even a brief, terrifying period where Andrei Arlovski vs. Stefan Struve stood as the co-main event. But Brian Ortega vs. Frankie Edgar has come from seemingly nowhere to provide one of those matchups you had no idea you wanted so badly until it was placed on the table.
The original headliner of UFC 222 was Max Holloway’s title defense against Edgar, but Holloway had to withdraw due to injury. Holloway is in the strange position of having only just won the title and achieved wider recognition and acclaim, but he's also already beaten almost everyone making progress toward a title shot in the featherweight division. Edgar stands out as the biggest omission on Holloway’s incredible curriculum vitae.
Edgar, meanwhile, has always been good enough to beat everyone except Jose Aldo. With Holloway beating Aldo twice and removing him from the title picture, Edgar had a chance to swoop in and pick up his second UFC belt, but Brian Ortega has quietly worked his way into the title picture and now stands at No. 3 on the UFC’s rankings (No. 4 if you include the champion in the rankings in a way that isn’t totally unintuitive). Ortega vs. Edgar seemed to take up zero space in anyone’s head until it became a possibility. Now it stands as an intriguing matchup between the old guard and a guy with the old-school guard.
We have covered Frankie Edgar so many times that you likely have a good grasp on what he does. Lots of movement, lots of feints, building those off feints to hide legitimate strikes, and building off legitimate strikes to make takedowns happen. If he gets top position, he isn’t going to let you up easily, and against many good fighters it only takes him one well-timed takedown to win a round.
Brian Ortega, on the other hand, is someone who we haven’t really had a chance to examine at all. He is undefeated in MMA, spare a No Contest that resulted from a failed drug test. Sadly this was for an actual steroid, drostanolone, and not for a cheeky puff on the wrong kind of cigarette. This was also in the pre-USADA era, when everyone was walking around with capped deltoids and failing a drug test was more an indication of simplemindedness, but to let that distract you from Ortega’s very obvious talents would be a mistake.
Ortega arrived in the UFC by merit of his grappling. In his first eight fights he scored three triangle choke victories, and the triangle became something of a calling card. Since arriving in the UFC in July of 2014, none of Ortega’s fights have gone the distance and perhaps that is for the best. Ortega’s striking has gone from spasmodic flailing to what you could probably call serviceable, but it is still full of glaring deficiencies and bad habits.
Ortega seems to want to fight like an old-school cutie from the golden age of boxing, jabbing and dropping his lead hand low to shoulder-roll off the returns. The part he can’t actually do consistently is the shoulder-rolling. From Clay Guida to Renato Moicano to Cub Swanson, anyone who has pressed in on him with combinations after his jab has caught him clean, often multiple times in a row.
Ortega’s loading up his right uppercut from behind him is another constant cause of grief. A long right uppercut is an invitation for counters, but there are fighters who can get away with it like the rangy and mobile Alexander Gustafsson. Ortega, however, throws it from directly in front of his opponent and often gets cracked while he does so.
Ortega’s ability to take a shot and his jab have carried him through the striking exchanges with decent scrappers, though, and his bodywork against Moicano in the last round of that fight was definitely an eye-opener to how smart he can be, even if he doesn’t have the technical nuts and bolts tightened up yet. Furthermore, by punching straight the majority of the time, Ortega’s height and reach can protect him a bit when the blows come back—he tends to be on the end of his opponent’s counter swings even when he is out of position.
But Ortega’s game isn’t about boxing opponents up beautifully, it is about walking them down and convincing them to go after his hips. Time after time Ortega has snatched up a guillotine or punched through to an anaconda choke and finished a fight in an instant off a poor shot.
Ortega often can force the same opportunity by getting an over-under clinch and waiting for the opponent to throw his hips back, then snap the guillotine on over the top.
This more fluid Rafa Mendes style of front headlock play, wherein the attacker will end up head-to-head with the opponent, looking up at the ring lights, won our Slacky Award for Breakthrough Technique of the Year in 2017. Cub Swanson was saved by the bell as Ortega pursued the anaconda choke in round one, and Diego Brandao was mounted and finished with a triangle from the same position as Ortega rolled back over his shoulder.
Ortega’s guard game provides the most interesting question in this matchup with Edgar. Ortega’s wanting footwork and constant forward movement suggest that Edgar can get him to the mat, but if Ortega fails to snatch up and finish a guillotine on the way down he could be stuck underneath a veteran ground-and-pounder. Edgar has seen most types of guards in MMA and hasn’t really struggled much against them. B.J. Penn provided what was thought to be the epitome of the MMA guard, focusing on the trinity of sweep, submit, or stand up. Submissions from the bottom were rare for Penn but he could almost always stand up by threatening them. Ortega is a fighter who very, very rarely tries to get up from the bottom and that is always interesting.
Every so often you will see some prospect storming through the lower end of the UFC’s cards and picking up gorgeous sweeps and submissions the moment he is taken down—and the commentator will say, “He doesn’t care if he is taken down,” or “He wants you to take him down!” The last time Frankie Edgar heard that was when Yair Rodriguez was becoming the hot property at featherweight. Rodriguez’s philosophy was to constantly attack from the bottom with triangle and armbar attempts, and the occasional overhead sweep if his opponent stood up. Edgar, who spent most of his time on top of opponents keeping them away from the fence so that they could not wall walk back up, decided to smash Rodriguez against the fence and you saw exactly how effective the guard is as an attacking position when the bottom man cannot move effectively.
The exact same thing happened for three rounds between Goiti Yamauchi and Michael Chandler in Bellator a few weeks back. Yamauchi kept holding the closed guard, and Chandler drove him to the fence and kept either stacking up into the fence or driving his chin underneath Yamauchi. The fight was a very easy and convincing decision victory for Chandler.
Alexander Volkanovski’s last opponent, Jeremy Kennedy, suffered a convincing TKO loss, but he hit upon the best option when trying to play the bottom of closed guard along the fence. After some time being smashed and held down, he opened his guard, put in the knee shield, and Volkanovski began passing. The cage served as a barrier to aid the bottom man then: Volkanovski couldn’t sprint around to north-south and he ended up advancing just to half guard, whereupon Kennedy tried to come up on the single leg takedown. Ultimately it didn’t work out for Kennedy, but he was making stuff happen and not content to get slowly beaten senseless from closed guard.
What Ortega does very well from the bottom—which Penn and many others did not—is use his elbows. Not simply swinging upwards, though. Ortega will use his feet and hips to constantly push and pull his opponent off balance. Thiago Tavares tried to tripod up on Ortega, Ortega gave him the old push-pull and had Tavares falling straight onto his elbows. By the second round, Tavares had a pair of cuts in almost perfect symmetry, high above his eyes, and looked as though he was about to sprout a pair of horns.
Hypothetical Gameplans
In this bout you have two extremes of featherweight physique. Edgar is squat and stubby, Ortega is tall and rangy. Those are Schaubian observations, but there’s more to it than that. Edgar’s game makes the most of his stature. The shorter man tends to lose out on range but is quicker on the level change. Edgar is masterful at working up and down in combinations and at ducking in to pick up that lead leg. Often Edgar will stab in the body jab a few times before ducking in, slamming his palm into the lead shoulder, and then picking up the opponent’s lead leg as he forces him back. Ortega’s game is one that consistently punishes opponents for their level changes.
The first question in this bout is how much Edgar can mitigate the guillotine, anaconda choke, and rice bale rolls off said lockups. Edgar is brilliant at timing his shots, but shots seem to be all that Ortega is waiting on. Every time we talk about Edgar, we point out his tremendous sense of anticipation for what the opponent is thinking—as soon as he can convince opponents that they are in a kickboxing match, he’s in on their hips and never a moment sooner or later. In this bout you would hope to see him work more extensively on the feet because it is an area where he has plenty of advantages and it is the process of getting the fight to the floor wherein he stands to get caught. On the feet, he has more tools and experience, and on the ground he can make use of the cage to ride out his advantages and mitigate the threat of a triangle attempt.
While Ortega’s defense is porous and he gets hammered in the head clean in every bout, he can clearly take a tremendous shot. Swanson and Moicano had most success when they focused on hitting the body and kicking Ortega’s lazy lead leg. Peculiarly enough, Ortega has some stylistic similarities to B.J. Penn: he focuses on his jab, often stands pretty bladed, and can be slow on the turn. Against Penn, side steps followed by low kicks worked a treat, and side steps followed by head-body-head flurries. Ortega is nothing like the counter puncher that Penn was, but he will lean back into the shell when he sees something coming. Using the wide right to the body—particularly the kidney when Ortega turns completely side on—Edgar might be able to set up the later overhands that he scored on Penn and Urijah Faber as they leaned back to check hook. The lean back is also a perfect time to pound that lead leg as it is lightened and the opponent can be knocked off balance.
If he can get the takedowns, Edgar should play the part of the old-school wrestler. There is no point passing and creating scrambles against Ortega; pushing him to the fence in his guard and stacking his hips to deny him submission attempts seems like the best course of action. When Thiago Tavares did this, Ortega was forced to abandon the guard strategy and get up—but it took a while for him to realize this. But where Tavares was largely inactive on top along the fence, Edgar proved to be a whirlwind of offense when he put Yair Rodriguez there. Edgar’s lack of height again helps him here. He can assume that classic Kid Yamamoto position, standing in his opponent’s guard and still easily being able to punch their face. Except unlike Yamamoto he doesn’t have to worry about his man sliding out between the ropes—the fence does a great job of keeping his face in place.
Given that he wants to avoid the guillotine attempts as much as possible, it would be good to see Edgar picking up his usual single and standing up as quickly as possible. Against guys with great balance like B.J. Penn, he has been great at picking up the lead leg, standing up, and immediately flowing into a kick or punch as he releases his opponent’s leg.
Also in keeping with this idea of avoiding the guillotine, when Ortega ties up or Edgar finds himself in a clinch, it would probably be best for Edgar to stick to his man and focus on the Cheick Kongo no-risk-no-fun knees to the thigh. So many of Ortega’s opponents have found themselves in a clinch with him, tried retreating from the clinch, and got snapped into the guillotine. Edgar has the disadvantage of being short and barely an inch from underneath his man’s armpit when he’s upright; keeping his ear to his man and trying to keep Ortega’s back to the fence when he’s in close might save him a lot of hassle, even if it makes for a boring fight.
Edgar might be able to do his best work boxing on the counter. He's proven great at catch-and-pitch countering in exchanges. He’s not the biggest hitter (though he has surprised opponents before) but he works very well taking shots on his forearms, or slipping, and returning in combinations. Every time Urijah Faber threw an overhand at Edgar, Edgar blocked it, returned with an uppercut on the overcommitted Faber, and flurried into a combination.
Ortega’s attacks tend to go in one of two ways: he jabs and leans back into his non-shoulder-roll position, or he jabs and follows with an overhand, which takes him off balance. Returning off the jab with a low-high combination, preferably the right hook to the body on the closed side, and a left hook to the jaw behind Ortega’s right hand could be a moneymaker. Catching the right hand and returning with the right uppercut or right straight into the left hook could also work a treat. Counter combinations make the difference in high-level boxing matches—if you start throwing them at someone who is still mastering the rudiments, you have a great chance of overwhelming him and scaring him into passivity.
When we’re talking about these young guys who can take a 2x4 to the head and keep walking forward, it is always good to throw in a line or two about elbows. Walk onto a punch and you can keep going. Walk onto an elbow and there is a great chance of it splitting your head open and you having to contend with blood in your eyes for the rest of the bout.
For Ortega, there’s no point setting aside the things that he has been working on. His jab is fast, flicking, and heavy when he wants it to be. He also shows a powerful and decently quick body jab—something we lose our minds over because it is so rarely used well in MMA. Unfortunately he doesn’t build off that body jab very well, but that doesn’t take much work to do. A few good body jabs, and a body jab to the right straight upstairs is a classic. It’s probably better not to hold your breath for it in this bout, but if Ortega learns to feint low and go high with the lead hand—both as a jab and a lead hook—he will be far more threatening on the feet and able to actually build off his body jab in the style of Alexander Gustafsson and Junior dos Santos.
Ideally, Ortega would work up and down with the jab, stiff-arming Edgar’s chest, or cross-facing him as he steps in to counter, then uncorking the right hand in retaliation. Given his similarities to Luke Rockhold, both in stature within the division and in counter-submissions on the takedown attempt, this writer would love to see Ortega get busier with his kicks. Traditional low kicks against Edgar are always dangerous—he picks them up effortlessly—but body kicks and high kicks could work a treat. Ortega also has decent, if wild, stepping knees, which have the added bonus of taking him into an upright clinch more often than they simply give up the leg. Pushing into a standing clinch and looking to tire Edgar with knees along the fence might also present more chances to snag a guillotine or force a snap down.
The usual anti-wrestler tool kit could work well for Ortega if he wants to get some work in on the feet without having to contend with the takedown attempts. For that, the low-low round kick to the shin or calf is always money, and the low-line front kick or side kick to the lead knee. Edgar is generally light on his feet but keeps a wide stance to bounce around in, meaning a good kick can play havoc with his balance.
Really, Ortega is the unknown in this fight. Despite his lengthy undefeated streak, and handful of fights in the UFC, we just don’t know what he can do. Everything he adds is a pleasant surprise, but it’s hard to know if he has enough tools to deal with a fighter as rounded and experienced as Edgar. Most bizarrely, Ortega's own corner have called for takedowns in multiple rounds where he has proceeded to not attempt any. He really does seem almost a pure counter fighter in his grappling game. Whether he can start taking guys of Edgar’s level down on his own terms is another one of the many, many Brian Ortega facts that we just don’t know.
No doubt a victory over Edgar would be an enormous feather in Ortega’s cap and set up an extremely intriguing title fight with Max Holloway. Either way this fight goes down, it leads to another great Holloway matchup and that is what we were struggling to come up with a few months ago. Watch UFC 222 and get back here Monday for a rundown of all the interesting stuff that happened.

Boss Fredash and Team Fredash says there are particular requirements his agency needs to register a model which entails your height, size, body and age. When asked if he thinks that’s not discriminatory he said: It is a business and we go with what gives us the money, you go for what the client wants. It is hard to work for fatter girls because designers don’t want to use them
FIAFA, The event where Models, designers and other stakeholders in the industry get maximum exposure He went ahead to say that the size sometimes is not the biggest issue as they model the products and not the person and that they encourage their models to be healthy. I asked if young girls are stills sexually used in the modeling industry and he said this: Yes but it is less now compared to before and sometimes the girls throw themselves on the man with the hope of giving u what they have to get favour with what they want. How long can you resist but however i condemn any man who sexually abuses a woman just because he is in the position to help her. I asked him and this is what he said: I don’t take sides in business so this award is going to be fair. The deserving will win. If you don’t use a Cameroonian designer you can’t win we need to promote ours. In 2012 I did miss West Africa, two of my models were amongst the competitors but none of them won. I like fairness and i like when the deserving win not the favoured. According to Fredash during this fashion event there will be a big seminar with top officials for networking, education on what fashion is and the importance of using and promoting our own artists, models and designers for commercials and adverts. Fredash Photography Makes Syndy Emade looks more beautiful and Charming. Fredash says; The biggest problem is everyone wants to be the head instate letting competence role. Most people are after the fame and name. He advices young models to; Look at yourself and be honest with yourself, can you do it, do you have what it takes?, do you have the talent and if your answer is yes then go for it and don’t look back. I asked what are the challenges they face in the photography sector and he said: Photography has changed a lot. It is more digital now and requires a lot of knowledge, talent and time. If you get the right equipment and training you are good to go. However, photographers in our industry have a challenge of not getting paid what they are worth and appreciated less. You put hours of work on an artist’s photo session and he can’t pay well or pay the price his session is worth and still we don’t get the appreciation.
