my favourite hobby is allowing myself to say one (1) thing on a discourse post where the op is being a dumbass and immediately blocking them and moving on with my life bc i've learned to not spend that much time on it and i only do when i'm mass reblogging shit or if i think it's funnier to do the above since i Know it'll make them mad that i blocked them and thinking about them seething makes me giggle (i don't do this often if at all bc i don't like replying to comments)
it's literally so funny especially in this case bc they're just crying about how mspec lesbians and lesboys don't exist with repeated posts on their blog like........do u have any personality besides hating these specific queer people you don't like. it's honestly sad lol
#ghost whispers#siff.txt#cal.txt#<- our combined efforts to be annoying Once and fuck off i think#tw discourse#<- i'll tag just in case#anyways it's funny. don't go in the mspec lesbian tags crying about a different label entirely (lesboys. mspec doesn't mean men)#and then don't go in those tags going 'well i don't see mlm who ids as a girl' when hi. my fellow headmate cal would like to have a word#our one allowed discourse related post for the month only bc i thought it'd be funny to say that and then fuck off#i really don't care about having a constructive argument with people who clearly aren't willing to listen#and it's funnier than not to prove their point wrong and block them in the same go. bc i have no interest in continuing this convo further-#-if ur unwilling to genuinely listen to those who id with those labels. i'm not going to be mentally plagued over this later so idc#also their blog is dedicated to hating this one tumblr user for no reason i think so like ???? the joke already writes itself#this is also our rent firing shots to remind people that we don't support exclusionary shit :|

beware of swimmingbreadshark/toona-fish
i hate that i have to make a post like this, i don't want any drama in this fandom, but this feels very important
even if you don't feel comfortable reading this, please reblog to spread awareness
please don't go and harass this user or anyone who's associated with them. just block and move on.
trigger warning (all illustrated only): gore fetishization, necrophilia, brief mentions of animal death, brief mentions of rape
i don't know how to begin a post like this. swimmingbreadshark (further referred to as "tasha" because that is its name) is certainly a user on this website. it also has a homestar runner blog by the name of toona-fish. considering i've blocked it i don't know how significant it is but i'll post this anyways because it's important.
i guess i'll just cut to the chase: tasha draws gore for sexual reasons, and on at least two occasions has drawn art depicting necrophilia. pretty much all of it can be found on its newgrounds sadostar (yeah great fucking name), though much of it is locked behind an adult rating. its description sums it up pretty aptly.
i won't be showing any of the actual drawings in this post.
since its tumblr and newgrounds don't link to each other and it never posts them on another website at the same time, i can't exactly prove that it's the same person (aside from both accounts using the same name and pronouns and having the same art style) but i will try my best
discord user named tasha posts this drawing in a discord server for another user named yuki. this same drawing is then posted on the tumblr blog toona-fish (also run by a tasha) and it is reblogged by hooray4dolphins (it doesn't say anywhere on the blog but yuki is one of my friends and i know full well that it's faer blog)
therefore, it seems rational to assume that tasha on discord and tasha on the blog toona-fish are the same person
this same tasha on discord links back to the newgrounds profile, and has also posted several drawings on the server that match up with pictures posted only on the newgrounds profile.
this image was posted on july 29th and the description pretty aptly describes the contents of it, though i won't be showing it in this post.
on the same day, the account on newgrounds posts the same image titled "take out the dog". you can double check this for yourself by visiting the profile (but please don't if you're sensitive to gore or animal death). hopefully though the tags are enough to tell you that they're the same.
so, it can be assumed that either the tasha on discord is extremely dedicated to impersonating this random person, or it's the same person behind both sadostar on newgrounds and swimmingbreadshark/toona-fish on tumblr.
here's proof of the necrophilia art, once again not showing the image. it also mentions rape so there's that. i won't be going into a lot of detail here because i've already made my point.
i heavily encourage you to block both swimmingbreadshark and toona-fish from viewing your account. i believe i've proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that these are the same person. thank you for reading, hopefully this was comprehensible enough, i've never done a post like this before and i intend to not do one ever again.

Ok ik this is old drama, but it seems rlly important now
'Bug Enthusiast or pest enthusiast?' A thread documenting some disturbing content from Pitaya, who could possibly be IdolMantis.
First, I'd like to announce two things; first, don't FUCKING harass anyone involved, and DONT harass Idol himself despite his predatory behavior. I don't condone harassment, witch hunting nor death/suicide baiting. Second, this thread is for, specifically, this reblog chain with a mutual and myself because of some alarming anons talking about Idol and his dark past due to an accidental like/reblog.
This is going to become a thread, as there's a shit ass 10 image limit aughg-
Now, lets dive in. These are from a wayback machine archive, which I can provide links to at the end.
As you saw in the original reblog chain, IdolMantis seems to have had multiple names in the past. Raisinrat, UnicornMantis, Bugcore, Ackee, Pitaya, all these names seem to be connected to Idol himself. Now, Idol is STILL active to this day on Tumblr, Instagram, and Twitter, however he posts for his two web comic series; Monsters and Girls and Bugtopia.
As the two comics aren't anything harmful, they do involve quite alot of implied sexual content with mainly lesbian couples, some of which are drawn to look more androgynous or masculine. If you are under 18 I advise NOT to search out these comics, just to be safe. Idk I don't feel like minors should really get involved in that stuff but someone can correct me if needed. I do not know Idol's gender identity nor sexuality, and it doesn't seem like he's tryna sexualize lesbianism, so I won't speak further on these comics as its not my place to dictate what's good or bad rep.
However its good to keep these 2 comics in mind as we see what he used to be involved with.
The full callout was made by a Tumblr user titled AckeeLoveMail, which seems to be deactivated by now. The blog is pretty much a "critical" blog, or a callout blog, dedicated to a person named Pitaya, who used to have a blog named Bugcore. Bugcore has been archived, but no other info or images were archived correctly.
Remember, Idolomantises (IdolMantis) calls himself a "Bug Enthusiast" on Twitter. I don't know if these two pages are the same, though considering Idol's obsession with bugs... its an alarming possibility.
[Lol remember how we could customize our blogs]
Anyway, there's two main links here; the Bugcore blog link, and "The Callout". That link takes us here;
Notice how its said that he deletes posts and claims people just hate him for no reason.
Hmm....
Also, the beginning of the callout sounds familiar....
Lil offnote, but its said here that he identifies as non-binary. Currently he draws very sexual content of predominantly feminine identifying characters. Again I can't say much, but I do know that I've seen alot of people show concern on masculine ID'ing ppl consume or create content that sexualizes lesbian couples. Again, someone can correct me on that.
Anyway, second part of the callout.
The evidence:
This one is just... weird? Idk. Anyway bc of shitty image limit this is part 1 of... god knows how many posts.

very very long rant
when i first left tumblr after the porn ban, the sjw stuff was starting to plateau, but you still had big bloggers ironically calling themselves misandrists in bio. I say ironically because unlike an open misogynist, an open misandrist cannot amass vast structural power, they instead will remain on the fringes of society. before they can even be shunned in the mainstream or the elite, they're being shunned by their own peers.
at that time, there was a lot of popular blogs run by (sometimes allegedly) racialized people or "poc-run spaces" like thisisnot[country] and blogs specifically dedicated to pointing out cultural appropriation. i personally contributed to the reclaimthebindi which in retrospect seemed inspired by blackout selfie day (not to be confused with thr subsequent 'blackout' posts associated with BLM - that was later), altho idk to what extent the south asian diasporic community (of which i am a part of) actually paid homage to the black blogger/s responsible for blackout day.
now many of those blogs are defunct or have been scrubbed from level-one searches of tumblr, and their history has not been well documented. it's hard to understand what the climate was unless you were there because not many secondary sources, like the one you're reading right now i suppose, exist. or they weren't well-circulated. this one won't be, i'm turning off reblogs i think.
this is, in my opinion, in contrast to other major trends in internet culture that inform offline social justice movements. that's your gxmxrgxte (so well-ingrained in my memory that it still upsets me enough to censor today), metoo and the annual around ao3's right to host any and all content with very limited few exceptions.
reclaimthebindi is still up, so are a few of the thisisnot blogs, but you can't really tell that they were all interconnected, a part of the same zeitgeist. i have a few theories as to why, and which one you pick depends on how generous you are when imagining the people who ran these blogs. some of them for sure were run by bored college students seeking an outlet. some of them were denied recognition by their offline peers because of racism, so it felt good to find a space where they could actually amass social capital on the basis of the very thing that disadvantaged them in every other space. some were concerned with punitive justice, others with restorative justice. some just posted black and brown bodies so that those images would exist on the internet somewhere. some were run by racefacing white people who also felt like outcasts offline, and saw a quick and easy way to be embraced elsewhere. it's possible that some people did it for a combination of these reasons.
whatever benefits there may have been, it wasn't enough to keep the momentum going. very few put out 'retirement' statements, most just stopped posting and were eventually purged. tbh, i see the draw in airing your grievances all in one place, but it's exhausting, and eventually your supporters grow tired of the negativity, and you grow tired of the negativity too. that's why i think it's usually better to stick to posting and sharing the stuff you love, not the stuff you hate, or at least, find a balance. though their presence is much, much smaller, creator networks for women, lgtbq, and racialized people have sprung up, and so have spaces where people post and repost art that engages with class, race, gender etc.
but it still feels like racialized people have a much quieter voice on tumblr. i have to rely on stumbling upon them naturally, which is next to impossible, especially if you're on tumblr for a small to medium sized fandom, which i think most fandoms are these days. your supermassive fandoms - doctor who, sherlock, kpop, harry potter, the mcu, also no longer dominate the site. i would still say tumblr is the big fandom site, but a lower user count means that the internet's fandom site is smaller than before.
so, less users in general, and any existing minority shrinks. and if we're talking racialized people who are lgtbq, that's an even smaller minority.
this in my opinion has contributed in a major way to the backlash against feminism, the idea that "terfs ruined feminism" with the subtle suggestion that feminism has perhaps failed, or was never really good to begin with, and a laser focus on terfs as the ones responsible as though the mainstream, patriarchal, cis-heteronormative bloc had absolutely nothing to do with it. or the ludicrous idea that terfs are the mainstream, patriarchal cis-heteronormative bloc. two things can be bad, that doesn't mean they're the same thing.
anyway! a big part of the original tumblr feminist movement was not just the "poc run blog" but in the "woc run blog". "poc" was absorbed into BIPOC, and "woc" is a legacy term. your woc were regularly venting about how being a woman of colour means choosing between your race and your gender, putting up with the misogyny of the racialized men in your life who you show up for constantly but who throw you under the bus when the white man asks them how high to jump. now there's white lgbtq bloggers all over the place asking whether you "include black and brown men when you said you say men are trash?" (yes, i absolutely am) and if you ask that question to a room full of white people, they're all going to keep their mouths shut because they don't want to appear racist.
well, white men do not have a monopoly on misogyny. misogyny levied at racialized women by racialized men is a huge intra-community barrier to trying to organize against racism and white supremacy. it is extremely upsetting to see white people suggest that racialized women, lgbtq people and children are not oppressed by the racialized men in their own communities. that we are not survivors of domestic abuse, sexual abuse or that we do not endure oppression under patriarchy in the home, workplace and in society inflicted upon us by our own kin, which compounds upon what we already absorb from white people.
and they can go on doing so on here because many racialized women have shut up and gone away. even running blogs aimed around celebrating themselves has become a service to white consumers that they've done thanklessly for years. just to hear that actually, they have no right to say "men are trash" because what if the brown man that abused them or their mom or their aunties overhears and gets his feelings hurt. didn't we discern the difference between hurt feelings and systemic oppression almost fifteen years ago on tumblr dot com?
like, sure, maybe we should adjust "women only spaces" to be "spaces for women and trans people" but we can do that and not pretend that we have absolutely no idea why women live in fear of men, or that a reasonable amount of fear is completely unwarranted.
man it is one thing to come back here to find all the, admittedly, sometimes kind of annoying sjw blogs around race gone, and another to see a resurgence of popular MRA talking points. but i see how that's happened. racialized women are done talking about this, and who can blame them. white women, and i wish i only meant cis women, get slapped with 'terf' the second they open their mouths, so they are also done talking about this.
if you managed to read all of this please be a little careful when reblogging posts that are critical of feminism. yes, there are a few bad-faith actors within feminism, but feminists in general are a minority group, even if it doesn't feel that way on tumblr. think about it, how long has it been since you saw someone with 'feminist' in bio? is it a good thing to keep facilitating this growing resentment against feminism? has feminism done nothing for us? should we toss it out with the bathwater?

dracotok: a golden era in tiktok history
if you’re here, i doubt i need to introduce you to tiktok: the video sharing app. the ‘algorithm knows me better than my best friend’ app, the ‘spread misinformation with vigor’ app, the ‘yeah! i saw someone talking about it on tiktok’ app. the reason i chose it as the main subject of this blog is because while it is relatively new - compared to long standing things like twitter (or x), instagram, and tumblr - tiktok has a grip on the conscious of american consumers like nothing else.
the app is rife with content, absolutely saturated with users, and growing every single day. it’s hard to find someone born after the millennium that doesn't either 1) love tiktok and spend hours on it or 2) absolutely hate tiktok and continue to refuse to download the app.
something that will be mentioned on this blog that (at face value) has little to do with tiktok is the coronavirus pandemic. the spring of 2020 is when i finally folded and downloaded tiktok. i had a weird sense of superiority abstaining from the app previously, when it was still called musical.ly (and was mostly comprised of teen idols lip-syncing to justin bieber), but suddenly the pandemic hit and i, like everyone, was alone and stuck inside. thus we all turned to our phones and found solace in tiktok.
downloads of tiktok absolutely boomed in the first two quarters of 2020 and because of this parasitic takeover of the internet, previously existing groups of fans inevitably moved over to tiktok. this migration thus creating an entirely new and dominant chapter of fans on the app. one of the most infamous examples of this population increase is the subject of today’s blog post: DracoTok.
DracoTok derives its name from two things: Draco Malfoy and TikTok.
Draco, of course, being the popular antihero from the fantasy series Harry Potter and known for being not very nice but oh-so-very mysterious.
most communities on tiktok are called by their subject matter, followed by the suffix ‘tok’ (examples: booktok, cleantok, sportstok).
DracoTok was unique because it was the first time that a (quite large) section of the app was dedicated to one (fictional) person. amongst edits and fanfiction, the primary type of video posted on dracotok were P.O.V.s (point of view) tiktoks.
dracotok #povs (pronounced "pee-oh-vees", or "pahvs"), at their simplest, were videos putting the watcher (or the creator) in the position of someone adjacent to draco (mostly his girlfriend, but also his sister, best friend, etc.). situations and events (canonical, or more popularly, non-canonical) would occur and 'you' would be reacting/talking/acting with draco and then the video would end. it was formulaic but such is tiktok. and so, in 2020, with nothing but time on everyone’s hands, dracotok quickly infested the entire app.
within dracotok povs (and also povs at large), there are two main visual categories.
the first being you (the watcher) as y/n (your/name, a common placeholder for the watcher to inject their own name):
-
you could be either a blank space in the video, meant to be a spot for your imagination to insert yourself in (sitting next to harry in your hogwarts robes) or you could be a pre-existing character, retrofitted with y/n and previous character traits erased (common characters to replace: hermoine, luna, etc.). thus the movie scene would play and you could pretend you were right along with the cast as whatever situation unfolded.
ara's video - note the acknowledgment of the 'old dracotok'
secondly - later and more elaborately, tiktok creators started superimposing themselves into the harry potter movies:
-
creators would buy prop costumes and wands and would record themselves against a green screen to later edit themselves into movie scenes. these creators obviously were not in the original filming, but with color grading and convincing costuming, it looks like they were rubbing elbows with draco himself.
cherrie cherry's video | atina's video
the audio portion of these povs were usually whatever songs or 'audios' were trending at the time. 'audios' are what make tiktok iconic – they're short clips of music/talking/dialogue that are either original or pulled from somewhere else on the internet - and tiktok encourages you to record videos against these ‘audios' (it’s what makes up most of the app).
because audios are tiktok's bread and butter, the dialogue exchanges in dracotok povs are usually purely in writing – captions written in time to the characters moving their mouths - with some morose song or badass quip playing over the scene. this allows for audio freedom and personalization – you can read your pov damsel in any voice you want.
these videos, at their core, are exercises in escapism. life in 2020 was strange and very scary, so people turned to the things they knew - characters they loved from childhood. it's an understandable evolution of content and a perfect encapsulation of pandemic loneliness.
there is a larger conversation absent from this commentary about fan-made work in general - but that is a very long post for another day.
this combination of pandemic free time, childhood nostalgia, and internet access allowed dracotok to thrive. now, people look back on the ‘dracotok era’ of tiktok and sigh wistfully, wishing for the simpler times of three years ago (when nothing stressful was happening at all).
-
this comment was on a tiktok dedicated to the third anniversary to dracotok, which, apparently, was celebrated recently on august 22nd - i'm sorry you missed it.

Pretty sure amateur-stims and i-love-girlcock are the same person as this one [now banned] user who was in the precure tag over the summer losing their mind about how an underage gifmaker had blocked them and then raged again because apparently after they made that post several other content creators had also blocked them too, yelling about that the Precure fandom was "full of puritans" while they themself had an incredibly NSFW lolicon/futanari blog. Full-on meltdown [all tagged with #precure!] saying that gifmakers and artists contribute nothing and are useless and not needed yet they're "treated like gods" on tumblr.
amateur-stims literally said gifmakers were "useless fucks" which is exactly what that other user had said, so they're probably just angry their blog got banned over the pedo art and got triggered because they got called out for stealing gifs from blogs that probably had their original blog blocked. Their behavior is way too aggressive to just be lashing at Precure gifmakers for no reason so I think it's the same person, and if they truly hate Precure content creators like they claim to then they should stop obsessively scrounging through Precure blogs to steal gifs from all y'all talented gifmakers smh
this whole thing is so wild to me lmao. thank you for giving me more context on this person, i do appreciate it
it's just like... what did they think they would find when going into a community dedicated to a children's show? i would wager many of the tumblr fans of the show are underage or if they're not (like myself as i am 26 and i hope it is obvious on my page that i am), they're probably not people who want to see filth like that. it's just.... the precure fandom has always been strongly against that type of content as long as i have been in it. also, if someone who doesn't want to see those things blocks you, you should just move on. i'm sure there are many people who have blocked me because i post random stuff they don't want to see and that's perfectly fine. for example, i've blocked someone who wanted to post game of thrones without tagging it so i could blacklist it and it legit had nothing to do with that person's character. i thought they were a nice person, i just didn't want to see that show and following them wasn't conducive to that. blocking doesn't have to be a personal insult. if this person is taking it so personally that people don't want to see their sexual fetish content without consent, they really need to take a step back from the internet for a while. like that's not normal or healthy.
having an active sexuality/desire is completely fine, but forcing it on people without their consent isn't. that's not what mature adults do. if a child says they are uncomfortable with your sexual talk/behaviours, harassing them isn't the right thing to do.
also, i want to make it clear that i do not support lolicon and i do view it as pedophilia. i hope i have never come across as someone who is okay with it.
as for gifmakers being useless... like, just make your own gifs then lmao! if it is so easy, just make your own! i don't get why they feel the need to steal if it isn't a big deal to make your own. it just comes across as laziness. like i get that they don't think we should complain because we don't own the show and gifmaking isn't that hard, but yet they are still too lazy to make their own. put your money where your mouth is.
and again, i don't think any gifmaker out there wants to be treated like a god or like a king. we just want basic respect for our hobby. we don't want our gifs stolen and reposted elsewhere or insulted. it's not a tough ask in my opinion.
and yeah, it is really weird for them to be going after precure gifmakers. like i've always had great interactions with other precure fans. i really don't get it. i don't know. maybe they're just a perverted weirdo lmao. there's many of those in this world.
anyway thank you for your support of us! we really do appreciate it. every person that leaves kind comments or tells us things like what you have said makes all the difference and does help keep us gifmakers on this site in a time when so many of my fellow users have given up and left.
#miss shania talks too much#this whole thing is so exciting in a way lol#i usually keep to myself on here

I have an unpopular and probably a controversial opinion, but as a fanfic reader, I honestly believe Tumblr is NOT a good fit for posting fanfiction, let alone multi-chapter fics when it comes to engagement of readers for a number of reasons.
First, there is how hit or miss Tumblr can be with posts not showing up in the tags correctly or not getting notifications when you're tagged. Heck, there are several blogs I follow on here that even though I have it turned on to be notified any time they post, I've yet to get a notification when they do.
Second, there's the difficulty of trying to find the first chapter/previous chapter/next chapter of a fic if the writer didn't bother to link the chapters together in some way or use a dedicated tag. I've come across way too many fics on here where I had to spend an inordinate amount of time digging through the writers blog to find the next chapter because they didn't provide any links or even use a dedicated tag for their story. After awhile, I don't care how good a fic is, having to deal with stuff like that will quickly turn me off a fic.
Third, there isn't a unified & connected tagging system here like there is on AO3. I know I'm probably missing some really good fic because it's been tagged in a different way than how I search on here. Also, I hate that fics I don't want to read keep showing up in tags I'm searching because I can't filter out tags.
So with all of that, as a fanfic reader, I much prefer to read and follow fics on AO3. In fact, the only reason I even started to read fics on Tumblr was because for the first few months after TGM came out, Tumblr was really the only place to find TGM fics. Before TGM, I never read a single fic on Tumblr.
And as a fanfic writer, I also prefer to post my fics on AO3. The few times I've posted my one shots on here (in an active fandom), I got very little engagement. And I tagged those fics six ways to Sunday and even reblogged & reposted them a few times.
But on AO3, I have fics I wrote TEN years ago still getting kudos & bookmarks when fics I posted a year ago on here will never see the light of day again unless someone decides to spend a day going through my blog or I decide to reblog/repost them because the tagging system on here either shows you the current stuff or the most popular stuff when you search a tag.
Plus with AO3 I know a kudos means someone read and enjoyed my fic even if they didn't leave a comment. I can see when someone bookmarks or favorites a fic and I can even see how many hits each fic has. I don't have to manage a tag list or run a second "library" blog because on AO3 someone can just subscribe to my fic or follow my account & AO3 will automatically send them an email when I update a fic or post a new fic. I don't have to use a million tags because a dedicated group of tag wranglers makes sure similar tags are connected.
So yeah, I know how much it sucks when it feels like you're just posting into the void on here when all you're getting is likes. And I know there is still a large number of new users on here who think likes on Tumblr work the same way they do on all the other social media sites when they actually don't and that it feels like we're shouting at a brick wall anytime we try to explain that to the new users. But at this point, I feel like fic writers on here are just beating a dead horse with every "ENGAGE WITH MY FICS OR ELSE I STOP WRITING" post I see.
You can't force people to engage with your content. Those who want to will & those who don't will continue to do so and shame posts aren't going to change that. In fact, every shame post I see makes me not want to engage with that writer. Just like us as readers have no right to demand you write & post more, writers have no right to demand engagement of readers.
And if not getting enough engagement makes you want to stop writing, then that's on you the writer and not on us, the readers. Would people miss your writing if you stopped posting? Probably. But that's your prerogative and you shouldn't try to make people feel guilty about YOUR decision.
Fair point about the difference in platforms. There are pros and cons to each, and I think it's also fair for writers to weigh what works for them. AO3 does not have PMs, which makes it way less functional for me to engage as openly as I would like. The readers who have taken the time to get to know me understand and respect that is why I am here and not always on AO3
Talk to Me as an intentional multi-chapter fic is on AO3 for its better functionality for that format and is here on tumblr for anyone who didn't catch it on AO3 and so people drop into my dms to chat about it
This though: "Just like us as readers have no right to demand you write & post more, writers have no right to demand engagement of readers."
Asks are readers asking for writers to write and post more. And yes, writers voluntarily open their asks but that does not preclude wanting some kind of feedback for the effort they put into provide those stories. I am writing it because I LOVE the collaborative writing process of sharing ideas and getting to write something that will make someone happy. When people tell me exactly what makes them happy, I have the chance to give them more of that. I am asking for something that makes me a better writer for what they asked me for
Also, just to recap what's going on widely, readers ARE demanding that writers write and post more. That's part of the frustration people are trying to address
The Hannix Football Rivalry AU Series was "born" on tumblr (and was never meant to be a multi-chapter fic). It exists SOLELY because of reader requests, and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a different level of engagement for that or want people to acknowledge you as the writer in their asks or to ask for feedback to ensure you're on the right track for making people happy
Yes, there are people who comment on and reblog everything I write. And while I deeply appreciate it, that is not at all what I expect or am asking of anyone. Just every now and then letting me know where your head's at, what you're feeling would be nice.
And this is MY controversial opinion, and I am only speaking for myself here. I'm on tumblr to engage with my readers. To me, fanfiction is a community and a relationship. That is what's meaningful about it to me. Knowing what people feel and think. I am here to write for you but also still want to feel like a person doing that. If any readers don't want to have to even consider who I am as a person or have a conversation about how I feel, I'm very comfortable with them no longer reading my work or waiting until I decide what to migrate to AO3. There are enough people in my life who only care about the work I do without caring about me as a person that I don't need that energy in a space I've created for myself <3

🔥 Any unpopular opinion about Tumblr, either the site or the userbase.
This userbase really needs to come to terms with the idea that someone can be just a little hater, and that's okay.
I'm not talking about stalking and harrassing real people. That's never an okay or even healthy response to anything. But not everyone who hates a show, ship or character is using that as a justification to hate on creators or fans.
It's one thing to encourage people to stalk someone, send hate onto fanblogs, or @ users in posts bashing something they like (that's also harrassment) but, as long as someone keeps it in their own space, I think it's fine if someone has a hate blog to vent. Using a fan tag for bashing content is straddling the line because, no matter how those people try to justify it with: "ThE PoSt iS aBoUt It So I'm TaGgInG iT," they are still purposefully tagging their opinions with a tag used by people who will disagree with them (100% in the case of tagging anti stuff with ship tags). Someone thinking they're picking a fight on purpose is kinda justified there.
What I'm getting at is this: sometimes people just really hate a show, ship or a character and, unless they're actively hurting someone because of that hatred, it's completely fine and valid. They don't even need a "justifiable" reason for it. Sometimes we hate on things for moral principles, sometimes something just really rubs us the wrong way and sometimes hating on something together with a small group of friends is fun.
Basically, sometimes you will run into a post that utterly trashes your absolute favorite thing in the world. Sometimes you will run into a bunch of such posts, either from different blogs or all from the same one. Maybe someone you follow reblogged it, it was tagged incorrectly, or a search also included "critical" and "salt" variants of a vanilla tag. But that still doesn't mean that the post is directed at you or is about you. You see something you don't like, it's your responsibility how you deal with it. Attacking someone for their content isn't okay, no matter if it's a show or a hate blog dedicated to your number one blorbo.
Liking things is fine. Disliking things is also fine. Loving things is fine. Hating things is also fine. Negative feelings exist for a reason and need to be handled just like positive feelings.

This!
And yeah, this is still a big structural problem with Tumblr moderation, but it has a different solution than "kick bigots out of the moderation team." It's that the appeals process needs a more robust way to report targeted harassment as a factor in why someone was reported in the first place.
It's the same reason Black people are more likely to get prosecuted for drug possession: Black people smoke weed at the same rate as white people, but white people aren't reported frequently and Black people are due to racism (by privateer citizens and police). So even if you fixed prosecution to only prosecute people who clearly broke the law and didn't have cops frame them, the enforcement of drug laws would still be biased because who gets reported is biased. (Which is one reason prohibition laws need to be repealed and post convictions nullified.)
It's also why "trans people aren't breaking the rules and being banned anyway" is a bad argument. Quite frequently there was a TOS violation. It's just that most of us are constantly flouting the TOS and it's completely ignored. Meanwhile transphobes ensure that trans people, and especially trans woman, are constantly living under a panopticon where the slightest infraction gets reported, and are constantly baited into violating the TOS through abuse.
Exactly the same pattern as childhood bullies using constant verbal abuse to bait their target into hitting them to make it stop and then running to the teacher about it to complain that actually they were the one being targeted and assaulted. Most schools rules say teachers have to punish hitting other kids, but don't give a shit about ongoing campaigns of psychological torture (a trauma that a lot of trans children also loved to and are predisposed to react too as adults). I'm betting a lot of these dedicated transphobes were also abusers in childhood and faced few consequences or were even rewarded for it.
All these factors are also why Palestinian blogs are getting nuked. Staff aren't searching the tags for Palestinians to ban, anti-Palestinian bigots are. Both looking for the smallest infraction and baiting Palestinians into those violations by using their justifiable anger and trauma.
The fact that transphobes water not being banned for hate speech when it's reported is absolutely a case of moderation rules enforcer bias and them being given continual free passes to be hateful is absolutely enabling them and allowing them to mass report.
Moderation tools that rely on reporting and are especially sensitive to mass reporting are incredibly vulnerable to coordinated reporting attacks. But moderation teams are taught they can't pick and choose who to enforce the rules against. Either there was a violation or there wasn't and what series of events led to the violation are not important. Theoretically this prevents bias and favoritism at the enforcement level, but it doesn't protect against reporting level bias.
(This is why the ACLU's philosophy is that they'll still defend hateful people against first amendment violations because even if those people are garbage, far more and better people are hurt by the legal system picking and choosing unequally. Opinions differ on whether that is an effective strategy to create a better society.)
No social media platform has solved this problem. I think Blue Sky probably has the best protections between the extremely thorough way blocks work and subscribing to user-created moderation lists on top of site moderation. Mostly it just keeps people separated so it's harder for transphobes to interact with trans people at all. It's not foolproof either, but it has led to a much more thriving and safe trans community where most threads aren't full of hateful replies. But that was designed into the structure of the site nearly from the beginning by people that got burned by multiple older platforms. Tumblr's structure would make it extremely hard to implement something similar.
Obviously things need to change this is a completely unacceptable moderation situation leading to the persecution and silencing of a vulnerable minority. But understanding where is actually going wrong will help us identify and advocate for specific policy changes that would improve it. Simply railing at Staff for being uniquely bigoted does nothing to address structural drivers of bias that are outside their hands.
The number 1 change I recommend is considering targeted mass reporting to be a policy violation. It wouldn't solve everything, but it would improve things and there's precedent for it in other site moderation policies (like AO3). If we can bend our energy towards that one change, we can then identify other specific policy changes.
it's so strange to see the response whenever someone gets banned that this is like. Intentional targeted banning from Tumblr. It's not! It's almost always someone getting brigaded until the autoban gets triggered, which is bad but it's a different category of problem and much, much harder to solve.
If what you get from this is "Tumblr bans trans women" and not "transphobes in particular have organised methods for report brigading accounts until they get banned" you will misunderstand the problem and why it persists. It's not a secret that the people getting banned are usually highly visible and/or get into fights a lot!

i really want to know what you think of this. i still don't think i have a preference either way, because i want to wait to see what the show says. i think it's great that this user (and you!) arent defensive about whats correct but still have a strong opinion.
i noticed in this slideshow that whats possible for bi people (attraction to the same sex etc) could also be viewed for gay people similarly. for example, it's possible for homosexual people to have opposite sex attractions and relationships. so saying mike has had these does not show that he either is or isn't gay or bi... does it?
i think things must be inferred through how emotion is played in the show, subjective feeling (as so much emotion of all kinds is). this isnt really quantifiable so i always lean towards it not mattering what sexuality mike is until the writers decide it matters - i.e. reveal it in s5, either subtextually or explicitly. if they dont reveal it, it never mattered to the story or character to be specified.
i also think it's interesting that this user thinks its love, not sexual attraction, that is the differentiator between what makes someone heterosexual or queer. would you agree?
I have to be honest and when I saw 300+ slides in that presentation - not reading all that for an interpretation I don't and won't subscribe to hahahaha. Kinda very briefly skimmed it. It's fine. It's a huge fandom with very diverse mindsets. I love a lot of theories and analysis and I dislike a lot of them and others it's just... meh. I feel nothing. I appreciate the dedication and passion over that presentation, but I feel nothing 😌
I really do say, to each their own and we can interpret characters however we want and if Mike is bi at the end of the show, so be it. I'll be disappointed over my read and interpretation being incorrect. It's not a dislike or disappointment over bisexuality itself, it's just that acknowledgement of having been wrong and having your analysis cracked open. I can admit that. This is how I view this character. It's not being defensive, per se - just that why can't we just enjoy our interpretations and let it be? I don't really want to argue and outline my reasons like that slideshow hahaha because it just... it's what I think and want to think! One person's thought does not negate another's thought. Neither party here is writing the show. We have no influence! Nothing we can do in our heads or on our blogs will change the show so I never see why people fight too much - we don't need to convince people about the opposing read of a character. I don't care that there are militant Mlvns still insistent out there. What do I care if people still ship it and will still ship it regardless of the outcome of the show? The show is the show. Our blogs and brains are independent of that. We can do/think what we want. No influence, no control.
Unrelated, but it's like people getting upset over the existence of spicy/explicit content. No amount of getting mad and vocal about your dislike of it is going to stop others from thinking about it and liking the content. They nuke tumblr and twitter and ao3 and there's no outlet to talk and share our smutty works? You the repressed fandom cop is happy there's no longer smut of your favorite show online? Hate to break it to you, but they're still fucking nasty in my head. A lot. You can't take away an idea. I'm really rambling hahaha.
If Mike is not gay at the end of the show - I'm still labeling him that way in my Byler works. Because what does it matter then as you say? Transformative exploration of fanfiction. Invested too much mental capacity to the idea. So, it's important to know what you're getting on my blog.
for example, it's possible for homosexual people to have opposite sex attractions and relationships. so saying mike has had these does not show that he either is or isn't gay or bi… does it?
Totally!! To a point. Plays into how you interpret the show. I think a point was made "Mike doesn't have internalized homophobia" but, well we don't know that yet? He probably does. We're interpreting that and will see in the show. But there's nothing to say he doesn't? I mean, he's young, he's a teenager, if he's gay and exclusively wanting to be with guys deep down - well, that part of him might be something he doesn't want to acknowledge even if he really cares for a girl. Confusion on platonic vs romantic is a big element. He thinks he should be with a girl. Society. Other influences. That's part of the point, arguments for both sexualities. This is personal and I won't get into toooo many details, but before I met him, my man was with a woman for many years before he eventually came out as gay. That's reality for a lot of people. Sexuality is COMPLICATED!!!!!
I've talked about it before, but I knew I was gay and yet, I dated girls in high school. To shield, to have somebody. The youthful difficulty of navigating friendship/romance. Me dating a girl in HS: "Sure! This benefits me for multiple reasons." Was it a great mindset and behavior? No, but give grace to teenagers who are confused and scared. That can also be Mike. His situation is just very, very dramatic with outside forces beyond the norm. His situation has at times been life or death.
Fiction is a great way to explore things!!
i also think it's interesting that this user thinks its love, not sexual attraction, that is the differentiator between what makes someone heterosexual or queer. would you agree?
Hmmmmm - no?? Maybe I'm confused. Why would that be a differentiator? Because every sexuality can feel love and/or sexual attraction to their preferred type of person. And then can feel love for anyone regardless of orientation. Love =/= sex. But attraction and desire makes up sexual orientation. I'm not gay only because I love men - I'm gay because I want to have sex with men. There are women and men I love and I don't feel attraction to them. There are men I'm attracted to and don't love. Love =/= falling in love or being in love and that's the difference that gets jumbled and/or need to be worked out sometimes. And falling in love/being in love isn't completely to do with sex - but that's the catch, right? That's what lies on the human to figure out themselves. Not easy to sit here and define it with rigid peramiters and labels.
Otherwise, maybe I'm missing something from that statement...
#asks#Mike#I mean I'm very very very firmly a gay Mike truther but all in all regardless if I win or lose - that boy ain't straight. That's all.#Cordial discussion please! And it all has been! I've gotten some defensive fighty anons here and there but non yet on bi vs gay Mike.#Not an invitation to start fighting in my inbox hahahaha#Find what you like and stay true and keep an open mind to kindness please my dear friends ❤️❤️❤️#Sorry this got so long I'm very lazy on a couch potato day and felt like rambling and getting philosophical in a way haha

Okay Blue Lock fandom, let's standardize this
A lot of Twitter users are coming, and if we don't want the harmonious fandom we have here to turn into a toxic one, let's make use of "anti tags"
What are anti tags?
Basically, anti tags are tags you use when you are against a certain character or ship. For example, if you hate the rinsagi ship for whatever reason, you tag it with #anti rinsagi and NOT #rinsagi. This way, people who actually like the rinsagi ship won't have to see the hate you're spewing about it.
The same goes with characters you don't like. If you don't like Nagi, tag your post with #anti nagi or, better yet, #anti nagi seishirou. Do not tag it with just #nagi seishirou.
By making use of anti tags properly, people can block out hateful content they don't want to see.
NOW PLEASE REBLOG THIS POST SO THAT MORE PEOPLE WILL SEE.
Let's make this fandom a safe space.
Edit: And please, DO NOT CENSOR CHARACTER OR SHIP NAMES in the anti tags. If you censor them, filtering them out will be harder.

My #1 post of 2022
An Honest Guide to Tumblr for Twitter Refugees (Part 1)
I know there are already tons of guides out there, but my WiFi was down the whole day and I got nothing else to do. Spent the entire morning making gifs, but still no WiFi, and I’m like, fck this let’s make a Tumblr guide.
Now, assuming you’ve already signed up and was able to snatch a fancy url*, here’s what you should do next: Log into Tumblr on desktop. You probably made your account through the app, and that’s cool and all, but for this guide, I’ll be showing some features that are currently only available on desktop Tumblr, so go ahead and get your laptop or PC out. Following this guide will also be easier on desktop.
*url = basically your username/handle on this site. We call them url’s because it what makes your domain name on your blog. More on this later.
Covered in Part 1:
Configuring your Tumblr Settings (filters, community labels, algorithms, etc.)
Customizing your Tumblr (how to avoid being mistaken as a bot**, enabling your Tumblr website, finding a Tumblr theme)
**this wasn’t included when I first made this post but decided to add it coz it’s really important.
Configuring your Tumblr Settings
Filters and Community Labels
Go to tumblr.com/settings/account. Here, you’ll find one of Tumblr’s most important features: filters and community labels. Filters are similar to Twitter’s “mute words” feature, and they come in two types: Tag and Content filters
Unlike Twitter, where tags are part of the post itself, Tumblr has a dedicated section at the bottom of the post to add tags.
Tag filters block out posts that are specifically tagged with #tag, while Content filters block posts containing a certain word within the body of the post itself. Once you have these set, you will never see such posts when using the search feature on Tumblr. It will still show up on your dashboard though, but it will look this and comes with the option to view the post for whenever you’re curious:
As for Community Labels, this should be self-explanatory. Mature content is now allowed on Tumblr, but if you don’t want to see such content, you can always opt-out.

Whats actually happened between you and taemaknae? I read about it on the tea blog and still confused
This is an insanely long story so I'm going to put it below the cut so for anyone interested in this absolute shit show, continue on.
Essentially, I posted these headers about a month ago:
It was a set of like 8 colours and it was the first time I had ever posted any headers or anything. The issue nic had with these, was the ripped paper bottom. Because apparently you can trademark that. I had asked a (now ex) “friend” of mine if she knew where I could find the ripped paper effect because I had seen the effect on the header of her network blog and I had been trying to find a similar thing for months and google images never gave me anything good. She ended up referring me to google images anyways and after like an hour of dedicated searching, I found this ripped paper effect and used it. This ex “friend” went on to tell another friend of mine that I had "asked where nicole gets her resources for her headers" and then screenshotted my dm as "proof", which still confuses me because I never mentioned nicole there lmao. I've seen the screenshot.
Tell me where I said nicole. It was literally just a question born from seeing the header they had on their network lmao. I feel it’s important to mention I didn’t know this person ran said network at that time, which is why i said “these people”.
This other friend then came to me and just said my headers "may be seen as similar to nic's” and said she noticed it on her own and never mentioned my other “friend” approaching her. I was confused because other than that ripped paper effect that I know many people on tumblr use, I saw no similarities. Nic's headers are usually more complex and more than just a coloured background with a little effect in it. I just wanted to make some simple headers for fun because I was bored. But, regardless, I messaged nic about it to make sure she didn't feel the same way. I told her a friend of mine was worried nic might think my headers are similar to her's and I assured her that if she found them similar I would take them down, no questions asked. Nic told me she was surprised this friend brought it up and told me that it was entirely up to me if I found the headers similar. She never once told me she felt they were the same, never mentioned anything about them, she insisted it was up to me to do as I pleased. So, since I genuinely found no similarities, I left them up.
About a week went by and things between nic and I were fine, or so I thought, based off the fact that she was interacting with my posts, sending me cute asks and replying to a lot of my comments and stuff being kind and whatnot. Then, I decided to post a small list of my creations and the series I had running at the time.
After that, all of a sudden I got an influx of rude hate anons:
To anyone I mentioned the anons to, they agreed with me, you cannot trademark circular icons. This anon also accused me saying “just the fact that you had an anxiety attack about it proves you copied them” Like no sweetie, it’s called three strangers walked into my house and I got anxious.
Despite me not seeing the issue, I messaged nic, assuming she wouldn't care about the icons (it wasn't like I was taking her exact work and copying and pasting them as my own) and that made her very upset. When she responded to me, she was incredibly heated and gave off the vibe she was waiting for me to message her about it.
She said things like "this has actually been bothering me for a while", "i expected you to be able to read between the lines and delete the headers", "i don't know who that anon was but clearly they recognize my style". For starters, she never told me that she was annoyed with me, she was being very kind to me publicly. And I have no idea how I was meant to “read between the lines” of what she said especially considering how kind she was to me the following days. I also never accused her of knowing this anon, she just insisted it wasn't her and she didn't know them right off the bat. She also insinuated that I copied my gifs from others as well, which ticked me off because I made my 100+ layer psd myself thank you very much. But I kept my cool, and I told her I had no idea she felt the way she did, and I told her I would delete the headers (which i did as the conversation was going on), and that I would stop posting my icons and bringing attention to them because no one ever paid it any mind before that point. And I asked her “please tell me straight up the next time you have an issue with me because I am generally pretty dumb with social cues”, I have my adhd to thank for that. And instead of replying, she just blocked me. And conveniently, the hate anons stopped dead right after we blocked each other and I haven't received any since.
Also, these are the kinds of icons I posted:
Looks pretty generic and idk, universal, right?
Then, as I've recently found out today, she was in an "anti-loverjimin" groupchat with at least 2 other bloggers.
Which explains why this all went and fell into place. I know who the two other bloggers are because of what happened two days later but I won't name them just yet, but these two people had been "friends" with me for several months. So, a day or two after nic blocked me, all of a sudden some good friends of mine were blocking me and not talking to me when I asked what was going on. I found out soon after it was because nicole and those two now ex “friends” of mine had taken old dms I sent them and were showing them to people. And I will go into detail about them but I won't name the people they are about for privacy reasons.
Before I move on, to clarify some lies nic has been spreading about me, I never once shit talked nicole to my friends. One of these ex friends also said I was trying to get people on my side. I would have reacted to this all very very differently if that were the case. I would be dragging everyone through the fucking dirt but I don't get off on drama or micromanaging what my mutuals do. My issues are with these people, if you're still friends with them that's your decision i could not care less. So, back to it, the only thing I said about nic was that she and I had a stupid small fight over icons and that she was spreading lies about me, based off of what nic said to jordan.
That exact message, or slight variations of it, was sent to anyone I interacted with because I didn't know if nic was going to stop at jordan or try and get to everyone I fucking knew lmao. Some of the people I messaged this to told ME nic had done this kind of thing before, that she has sent hate anons, launched hate campaigns, cancelled people, etc. Over stupid shit like icons lmao.
Here are some responses I received after I mentioned nicole:
And nic or one of her friends also took it upon themselves to send anons to that tea blog to blow shit up and named everyone and made it an even bigger mess when they saw no one was actively trying to fight me after the dms got out.
I also love that in this following ask, they named my two “friends” that were behind the whole dm drama and backstabbed me, as well as two other people I never badmouthed, that story was twisted. But we’ll get into those details shortly.
And she also told people I clout chased big blogs and only cared about notes. At one point, yes, I did care a lot about my statistics. However, never once did I think clout chasing was worth my fucking time or energy, Nic is the biggest clout chaser on this damn site and there are receipts of that, ask jordan lmao. And I couldn’t give two shits about my statistics anymore lmao, much less anxiety that way. Do I still crave validation sometimes? Sure. But it's not a driving force of my tumblr experience like it used to be.
But, moving on to the dms, the first one was sent when I first came back to tumblr full-time and didn't understand why people self reblogged things, I found the pretence of self reblogging annoying and greedy and I complained about it and it was a comment fuelled by two bloggers that i would see sr a lot on my dash. But I never thought THEY were annoying, as these people are saying I did, it was self reblogging I found annoying and as you can see I have come to understand why people sr and I do it myself too. I didn't even know these two bloggers at this time either. That dm was cropped to hide the fact that this "friend" agreed with me and hid the date as well so it seemed recent, and was sent to one of the bloggers I mentioned as an example, someone I had since become good friends with.
I didn’t befriend one of the people I mentioned there until mid to late June. That friendship is now over thanks to this drama and all the lies. The second friend of mine they went after was never spoken about in dms, they went and turned her against me through lies and manipulation so that friendship has ended too. And while those two were doing that, nic went off to try and turn jordan against me.
There was a particular user on here that I did say some nasty things about but we weren't friends, as many people have been made to believe. I was particularly mad at this person in those dms and was hurtful, I admit, and I have since apologized and owned up to all of it to these people. I did call them fake and/or two-faced.
And what in the gassing me up bullshit was their response though lmao. I also sent this following dm before I even talked about the issue with this person. They urged me to continue and to name drop the person, and I stupidly thought they were trustworthy.
My reasoning for what I said wasn't unwarranted though, I don't make a habit of going around shit-talking people, unless they do something to me first. I vent when I am upset and this person had sent me a passive aggressive ask and then denied sending it when I asked and I thought that was just very fake, especially since she was so kind to me in dms before the ask came in. But all of these dms were cropped too to hide timestamps and responses, and in most cases, like those screenshots prove, these "friends" either gassed me up or egged me on to continue ranting or to name the people i was mad at and they had agreed with me on several, several occasions. Turns out they were trying to get dirt on me to use in their cancel campaign. But the point is, nic has made me out to be this horrible person that befriends "big blogs" (an overrated statement) and then shit talks them behind their back without remorse. Yet it was one person I said rude things about and I, again, owned up to it all and apologized to them the first day. I would've done it sooner had I a) remembered feeling the way I did all those months ago or remembered the dms themselves or b) felt that way still after meeting them. But neither is the case.
I find it really amusing though that these people wanted things to be kept quiet and didn’t want anyone they spoke to to talk to me about it because I was going to “out them on my blog” and “make a big scene”, then they three went and made it a big fucking scene and ruined my friendships. I’m familiar with this pattern of manipulation as it has happened to me in real life before and it’s the most childish bullshit to witness.
Before this callout day for nic, I had never once been directly rude to or about her, same goes for those ex “friends” that betrayed my trust and friendship. The fact that they plotted against me in a group chat while still actively talking to me and being all buddy buddy is just disgusting. Both of them were talking to me that day at the same time they were sharing the dms and shit-talking me to my friends. But yeah, that's my side, the untwisted side, of the whole story. I tried to be mature and talk to nic and when I didn't do what she wanted me to do, she blocked me and launched the hate campaign with dms and the power of photoshop. I’ve been hesitant to make any of this public because it was meant to be a silent ordeal but I’ve grown tired of her constantly publicizing everything without consequence while I remain silent like I promised.

Tumblr used to have kind of a War Of Use going on. either you were Fandom, or you were Aesthetic. It's difficult to really get across just how strong of a hold these two kinds of blogs had on the culture here. Fandoms are still a big draw on tumblr, but they were inescapably the thing you saw here back in the 2010s. and we were fully problematic, too; Homestuck, Hetalia, My Little Pony, Supernatural, Doctor Who, and BBC Sherlock were basically the big 6, with a VERY special shoutout to the Onceler Fandom, an offshoot of the cgi lorax fandom soley dedicated to remixing the onceler and shipping him with alternate universe versions of himself. this would occur again with undertale and the Sans fandom. due to the popularity of homestuck and hetalia occuring at the same time(and there being noticeable solidarity between the two), there was a period where one of the biggest fandoms on tumblr was... fandomstuck. where you make a humanization of your fandom, make an ask blog, and have them interact with other fandoms. it was glorious, it was cringe as fuck, and i miss it dearly. on a more serious note, sometime around the end of homestuck and the rise of steven universe, there was a noticable uptick in people who struggled to read media with nuance, thought liking a bad guy meant you were a bad person yourself, and generally could not keep these thoughts to themselves - harassment has always been a thing unfortunately, but the flame wars went from "your ship is dumb and stupid and mine is better" to "if you stan this main character you are an actual fascist and probably a pedo". at the time i thought this was bc queer people were desperate for good rep and tearing apart anything that might make them look bad, but now that i look back on it, i think that timing lines up with public schools becoming less and less able to teach accurate history and critical thinking. now we're at the point where simply being a fan of a very popular old show can get you accused of the worst crimes on earth because of one or two problematic elements. which would be less of a problem if it weren't for the mass harassment :/ stay safe, kids, and block liberally.
on the subject of old media, just some advice from someone who's been fandoming for 14 good years: any time you approach an older piece of media(like, pre-2020 and especially pre-2016), prepare yourself for some bigotry or other problematic stuff that was normalized at the time... and allow yourself to like it anyways. recognize that some people Enjoy the parts that really bother you, and that isn't always a bad thing. practice a be-and-let-be attitude, and don't let yourself leave nasty comments on the things that make you upset. save the hate for the senators; we're all just vibing here.
one last nugget o' the old times: the t-shirt post. there was this HUGE long post where various tumblr users investigated why girls and boys take their shirts off differently. turns out, it's because of the cut; girl cut shirts usually have tighter armpits and shorter torsos, so they're easier to peel. boys' shirts usually have lose sleeves and long torsos, so they're easier to tug over your head. use this knowledge wisely. also, the reblog button used to be at the TOP of a post, so if you wanted to subject your followers to it, you had to scroll aaaaall the way back to the top. i am almost certain that "do you love the color of the sky?" is the reason it was moved to the bottom.
I really can’t believe I’ve been on this hell site for 8 years
#and ffs if you're bothered by something then stop reading stories that have that as a main plot point.#i mean it. sometimes something just isn't for you. leave the poor sailor moon fans alone.#hmm. yknow what there was also the post where a cute user with white hair posted a pic of themselves#and then someone who looked NEARLY IDENTICAL asked 'ummm why are you me'#and then we got ANOTHER !!!#dopplegangers galore#the blue was different too. i miss her.#post format tooooo we all got our own little line and long chain posts could squish the formatting SO bad#fucking. one of the april fools days was literally just giving your avatar a little hat.#i want it back i want my little hat

Just because something has pastels doesn't mean it's trans. Hatterene has nothing to do with the movement; in common representations of fae pastels are used to denote dream-like or otherworldly/surreal creatures, which Hatt absolutely is. I think it's an awesome Pokemon but it has nothing to do with LGBT shit and you're just projecting your political feelings onto it. There's other aspects of it that are awesome like it's detailed design and cool lore. Saying "IT'S TRANS!" just feels degrading.
Long post.
This whole blog is dedicated to celebrating everything about Hatterene and the Hatenna line as a whole: the appearance, the lore, the personality, and most importantly, others’ amazing Hat-related art and creations.
I have never stated that Hatterene is trans. Of course, I acknowledge that things being coloured pastel pinks and blues aren’t inherently LGBT, and the transgender flag was probably not even considered during Hatterene’s design.
HOWEVER, I must stress and repeat, this blog is all about celebrating the Hatenna line by sharing everyone’s wonderful content dedicated to our favourite Pokemon, from interesting headcanons to beautiful fanart. Just as much as we all have different ways of appreciating the Forest Witch, we all have different reasons as to why she’s so special for us.
Indeed, it just so happens that a lot of Tumblr users are LGBT (I am myself), and for many transgender people, the colour combination of pastel pink, blue and white is very special and meaningful. That, for some people, may be another reason why they love Hatterene, so they may feel empowered to create pride-themed content centring around Hatterene and other Pokemon of these colours! Or they may headcanon their Hatterene as transgender herself.
This is positive, feel-good content all the same, and I do not believe in censoring or overlooking these. There is also nothing inherently political about being transgender as it is just part of who you are, like being tall or having brown hair. However, many transgender people face hurtful, stigmatising prejudice and discrimination day in and day out, so I feel, as an LGBT person, it is important to stand in solidarity and celebrate Hatterene-themed LGBT-positivity just as much as all other Hatterene content.
As long as the content is SFW and not hateful, I’m dedicated to reblog all Hatterene fanworks I see on Tumblr! If you feel so angry about this, however, I suggest you leave this blog for your own safety...the Forest Witch doesn’t take too kindly to people with such strong emotions, especially when it comes to something so mundane!!
TLDR: Anon is uncomfortable with seeing trans-positivity on this blog...but this blog is open to sharing all Hatterene works, including LGBT-related ones. If you don’t like this, go elsewhere!
#I knew it wouldn't be long#ask#trans rights are human rights#have i ever said hatterene was trans myself? i can't recall :/#i only answered this to make my stance clear fkgkxglg

idislikecispeople, The Most Infamous Dyscourse Blogger: Part 1.0, Rumors
idislikecispeople, also known as many names throughout her time on Tumblr (such as Adele, Kat, Mami, Samantha and Sayaka), was a former Tumblr blogger who became infamous for coining the term "tucute", among many other controversial things she has posted on her blogs. This was supposed to be one, very long masterpost about her, but Tumblr's post editor is a bitch and won't let me do that.
In this post, I'll be debunking or confirming rumors commonly spread about idislikecispeople. The rest of my posts about her will each be dedicated to a specific controversial belief she held or situations she got into. For simplicity's sake, I'll be referring to idislikecispeople as Kat for the rest of this post and future ones.
Rumors
Kat Coined the Terms "Truscum" and "Tucute"
Verdict: Partially True
Kat coined the term tucute, but she did not coin the terms truscum or transmedicalist.
Here's a screenshot of Kat's original definition of a tucute:
Transcript:
What is Tucute?
What does tucute mean?
Tucute is basically just the opposite of truscum, it’s a term and community for trans, nonbinary, and/or non-cis individuals created to separate anti-truscum from truscum and to serve as a safe place from truscum and from cis people, where they believe that being trans requires dysphoria, we do not, where they think that being trans is a medical condition, we do not,and where they deny numerous gender identities on the basis that it “discredits the trans community” we do not.
What are the prerequisites to be a part of the tucute community?
You have to be trans, nonbinary, and/or non-cis in general
You have to accept all pronouns and gender identities
You haveto believe that dysphoria is not necessary to be trans
You have to dislike truscum
You cannot side with truscum or believe in their ideology
You cannot misgender anyone no matter how mad they make you
You cannot be an ableist whatsoever
Did you invent the tucute community? Why?
I indeed did coin the tucute term and community and anyone who says otherwise are creeps who are trying to steal it from me and redefine it for their own nefarious doings. I started this community so anti-truscum could separate themselves from truscum and cis people who are a part of the truscum community, it serves as a safe space from both truscum and cis people.
I’m cis, can I be tucute if I believe in your movement and want to help?
No, you can’t be tucute if you’re cis, you can only be a tucute ally, and you need to be sure to never speak for or over a trans person.
I see a lot of tucuties being just as harmful as truscum, what will you do about it?
There isn’t much I can do to them other than ask them to stop aligning with the tucute community, and of course, that doesn’t mean they will. Also be noted that truscum and cis people will pretend to be tucute just to tarnish the name of the tucute community, so tread lightly, you might be talking to a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Spread the word, use the tag #tucute and join the army today!

Kat Was a Cisgender Woman Who Lied About Being a Transgender Woman
Verdict: False
This rumor primarily comes from a post on Kat's oldest known Tumblr blog, chromaghost, where she claims that she wasn't MTF and only tagged a selfie as such because she thought that transgender people were "cool".
Transcript:
Anonymous asked: are you a mtf? i seen it tagged on one of your photos.
No lol. I wanted to post it to the tag because transgender people are cool :3
(source) (source) (source)
However, Kat addressed this post and made it clear she very much was a transgender woman multiple times on her later blogs. This claim can also be confirmed with nude photos Kat posted online, which I don't feel comfortable spreading, so you'll just have to trust me on that one. I also don't feel comfortable directly encouraging you to go and dig up those nudes, as most of her nude photos were either taken when she was a minor, spread without her consent and/or were uploaded because people pressured her into posting nudes to "prove" she was a transgender woman.

Anonymous asked: you bound with ace bandage in one of your selfies. i don't know what to think about you anymore. according to some people you're a 27 year old cis woman scamming us, but you say you're a 22 year old trans woman. i want to trust you but i don't know if i can. i'm sorry.
Rest assured I’m not 27 years old lol. What you’re referring to is a less than graceful ~art piece~ we did (”Playing a Boy” or something) on deviantART when we were 16/17 (?) and really ill-informed. I ask you to not take that as how I stand currently – as I have learned so much more since, and I have a penis and I was designated male at birth because of it (feel free to purchase a passcode to our nsfw blog to see for yourself). At the time we were developing breast tissue but still had to appear as a ‘boy.’ Don’t bind with Ace bandages, kids, it can damage your rib cage, something we didn’t know at the time.

Anonymous asked: In other words, you aren't gonna cough up the pics because you know you can't fake that shit because you're actually cis. Cool. BTW why do you keep changing your story about the blog, and if the blog was run by you when you were in denial about being trans because of self hate, why were the pics tagged mtf and you were constantly saying trans people were cool?
Yeah I’m not gonna do something for y’all and get nothing in return except more doubt from you, you see how one sided that kind of request is? Also its technically considered sexual harassment, just because its on the internet, you’re a coward (whats your username btw?), and you think I’m cis and you want me to prove time and time again to you that I’m dmab doesn’t justify sexually soliciting someone when they’re not comfortable in being solicited – for free no less.
At first I genuinely had no memory of that blog, it was only active for all of 2 months and for some reason I moved onto a new email and new tumblr, and I haven’t the foggiest why. As for the whole “me claiming to not be ~mtf~” I don’t have any memories from that time, I can only assume it was a lot of dysphoria fueled self-hatred and wanting to be seen/pass as a cis girl lesbian.
If you’re really gonna solicit nudes from a trans woman (a second time) as they do sex work to try and stay on their feet without offering anything in return just so your transmisogynistic ass can get off to trying to tell me my dick is fake isn’t classy at all. I perish the thought of what you’re parents would think of this behavior from you. But yeah, feel free to send some money to my paypal so I can get the gender markers on my records changed because that’s gonna cost a lot apparently, and I’ll definitely send you the dick pics you want. :)

Kat Lied About Having Diabetes To Get Money From Tumblr Users
Verdict: False
This doesn't need much commentary from me, just view the screenshots below.
Transcript:
To the people who keep harping on me buying a $15 video game for my mental health 7 MONTHS ago “with my donation money,” well, here you go, some proof, links and screenshots provided
So for everyone spreading misinformation about me spending $15 on a video game for my mental health, here’s a full list of reasons why there is no way, shape, or form I spent my paypal money on it:
Yes, I spent $15 of my own money after selling one of my possessions, not denying it:
[A screenshot of a Tumblr post by Kat where she shows off a copy of Fall Out: New Vegas, marked with a price of $14.99. The date of the post is marked as July 21, 2014 at 06:28.39 PM.]
Be sure to look at the date, July 21st, 2014 6:28 PM. Now lets look at my first donation post asking for help:
[A screenshot of a Tumblr post by Kat where she asks for donations to be able to afford insulin because she has no insurance. The date of the post is marked as July 20, 2014 at 08:14.00 PM.]
Hmm, one day before the purchase of said game, July 20th 2014 at 8:14 PM. Now, I’ve never heard of a video game store — much less a non-chain video game store accepting payment for video games in the form of virtual Amazon gift cards, have you? Oh, but you’re gonna say, “well you bought the game with your paypal donations anyway!” Well, here’s exhibit C:
[Another screenshot of a separate post made by Kat where she is also asking for donations to be able to afford insulin. The date of the post is marked as July 23, 2014 at 12:27.46 PM.]
Again, looking at the date of this posting which is the original donations post, you can see it was posted on July 23rd, 2014 at 12:27 PM, a full 2 days after I had bought the game. Now, if there’s no way for me to use Amazon gift cards for a real life video game store, then how can I go back in time a minimum of 2 full days to give past me $15 to buy said game, hm? This isn’t even accounting for the fact that I didn’t even have my own bank account associated with it until over a week later, and it surely doesn’t account for the fact that it takes up to 5 days to transfer from paypal to your bank account. All the dates are linked to the original unedited posts so you can see for yourself, and for added measure my first deposit was on August 14th, 2014:
[A screenshot of a deposit made by Kat. The date is marked as 08/14/14.]
Oh but yeah, anti-sjs, truscum, and the like took damniwishidthoughtofabettername’s postthey used to gaslight us with misinformation and you all bought it. Tell me how I could misuse donations that I could not use outside of Amazon and money I didn’t even start receiving until a full two days later, let alone the fact that there’s no way I could have transferred said money and used it two days prior as of the date of the paypal donations post.
I hope some of y’all could reblog this and get the word out, I’m sick and tired of people buying into that misinformation that person did solely to gaslight me as a means to try and disrupt my donations drive.

Anonymous asked: Getting desperate for money again I see. How is your fake diabetes lately. I bet your blood sugar is like 800 this time and you're still able to be alive somehow.
You got me, I’m ~totally faking~
[A selfie of Kat. In the background several items used by diabetics are seen such as insulin syringes, glucose tablets, a blood sugar tester and test strips.]
[A picture that gives us a closer look at the background of the previous selfie.]
[A selfie of Kat holding up two vials, one of Lantus and the other of Humalog.]
Gee, must be one dedicated faker, right? To have hundreds of dollars of insulin equipment and insulin itself. Hmmm… Insulin syringes, glucose tablets, a blood sugar tester and test strips.. oh and insulin, hmmmm….
Oh and because you didn’t learn from last time you don’t die instantly when your blood sugar goes over 600 lol, something anyone who studies endocrinology can tell you, and I would know, being a diabetic, having to be hospitalized numerous times for ketoacidosis where the blood sugar has been too high for too long. Things you clearly do not know and you’re just jumping on the disableist bandwagon. I have an idea of who you are anyway, just doing this for future reference.
