🏅 challenge events

there will be three events that feature a skill challenge! i won’t tell what the challenges are but you might be able to guess based on the events i have planned (list of events are on this google doc that i hastily prepared 😌). the winner of each challenge will get an intimate one-on-one time with the bachelor after the event which lasts for 1 in game hour. other than the challenge, events will be used to mingle around!

🎭 elimination

after a challenge event and the speed dates, elimination will be held where arvin will send two contestants home. the contestant with the lowest romantic relationship bar will be eliminated. the cycle repeats until we have the last two contestants!

woohoo is strictly not allowed until the final 2 contestant remains. arvin will be staying with the contestants at the vandeleur estate, but only friendly interactions are allowed. romantic interactions are only allowed during events, one-on-one time and dates. if a romantic interaction happens autonomously outside of these events, it happens 👀

💭 wants

as stated in the original rules, if the bachelor has a want (romantic or not) with a contestant, he is allowed to perform so at any given time.

I wonder if we will get a photo of them in conversation at the wedding. Maybe somewhere right in the background of a slightly blurred photo, and it just looks like cordial conversation - even as part of a group - but indicating Taylor doesn't hate her. Maybe it's too soon, especially after the contract thing.

Also, am I missing something about the loafers? I thought maybe you meant it showed he was in one spot and Taylor in another but I couldn't see her.

i kinda doubt we will get a photo but it’s possible!

i was pointing out the loafers as a fun/silly way of establishing that travis is in this photo, which gives us a sense of where taylor would have been sitting in relation to karlie.

because his outfit matches up with the candids we have of him and taylor. and the loafers are a simple visual thing to match

later then i noticed travis is also in this photo (the full photo you can see on vogue if you’re interested, i’m just zooming in on it here) — which shows he was at the ceremony.

and so with the combo of these two photos we get a greater sense of where taylor would have been sitting in relation to karlie, and the fact that taylor and karlie were both at the ceremony. unless people wanna say that travis was at the ceremony and taylor wasn’t 🤣

anyway for me this isn’t so much about if there are photos of the girls speaking or not, for me this whole thing is about the humor that happens with the slow peeling back of the truth. swifties flat out denying karlie went with made up reasons, then that gets debunked, swifties and gaylors saying well many people are saying they both went but not at the same time, then that gets debunked, and so on. it’s just a cultural thing for a lot of us lifers here. don’t overpromise something when it happens, and then wait quietly and watch things slowly unfold over time. it’s one of my favorite pastimes 😌

i had a family friend who once taught me that the trick to being good at everyday ping pong is just to wait for your opponent to mess up. just volley nice and easy back at them, be simple about it. your opponent will inevitably try something tricky and, when you’re playing everyday pingpong, when someone tries to be flashy they’ll usually mess up. anyways, that’s a life lesson i’ve carried throughout my life 🏓

Watching Dressrosa and seeing Zoro watch Luffy's colosseum battle on the screen I was suddenly hit by the fact that in a Modern AU he'd probably be the most obnoxious kind of soccer fan.

You know the one that probably picks a new favorite team every match and is only a soccer fan when they are actively watching soccer. I can honestly just imagine him screaming at the screen and being all dramatic at the team talking about honor and shit. No actual practical knowledge of soccer though.

I just think he and Mihawk would just be the kind of people that like sport in a Modern AU they are athletes themselves but they also just like competition and adrenaline and so sports. Except Mihawk atleast attempts to possess a basic knowledge of the rules and plays of sports he watches while Zoro will watch a sport he's never heard of in his life, chooses a random dude that's "got guts" and root for them so wholeheartedly you'd think he's supported them all his life.

All this to say that goth family watches the World Cup as part of "family bonding time" and

-Mihawk is rooting for 3 separate countries, the 2 that his data says are statically most probably going to win and his home country cause he has some "patriotic pride". He watches intensely but never actually reacts to anything.

-Zoro is rooting for whichever team is playing against whatever team Mihawk is repping at the moment. He has no stakes in this longterm whatsoever exceot that he gets his fill of trolling Mihawk, sports adrenaline and on the rare occasion his team wins he gets to be a smug asshole to the man who raised him 😌. He screams at the T.V so much you'd think he had money on the line.

-Perona liked the idea of styling cute matching jerseys so much so that she forgot how much she hates watching sport. She is very bored and unhappy and hopes that somehow both of them lose. She judges the outfits (the jerseys) of different countries and their coaches on a scale that only she really understands but all must suffer through.

-Shanks is there because this is the only time Mihawk will hold his hand even though he is squeezing so hard his bones might be ground to dust. (the only indicator that Mihaw is affected at all by what is happening). He's bar hopper he's used to seeing random sports he doesn't understand played on green fields running in the background of his mild buzz to drunken fool binge. He's just glad to be included.

Ok so, I thought a lot about this

MBFW: depends on when you were to look at it. If we're talking Lexa in the friendship era, generally it's a picture of whatever was the last time they were together, so generally a holiday photo or a pic of them on some beach: heads pressed together and sunglasses perfectly dipped to "make it fashion💅". Maybe the occasional stolen pic of Clarke napping on her chest. Ya know. Totally normal friend things... If we're talking marriage era, then it's always a family picture. A selfie style shot with Clarke and the kids flaked out on the couch for movie night in the background. A Griffin-Woods gang lineup of them hanging out by the pool on a summer day. Everybody in matching reindeer pajamas, standing in front of their Christmas tree loaded with presents. A very bizarre tablue of characters depicting everyone dressed up for trick-or-treating. That kind of thing. Lexa loves keeping stuff like that as her lockscreen cuz not only can she look at them any time she has to travel, but it's an excellent excuse to show off her little family so easily 😌

For Clarke, it is always Lexa. Always. Friendship era, family era, whatever. It's Lexa in some shape or form. Their kids always have a place on her homescreen, but Lexa has her lockscreen all to her own. That's her wife and her best friend in the entire world, always has been. That's her other half, and she had to spend an obnoxiously long time waiting for her, so she's damn well gonna look at that face any time she feels like it 😤

AWTR: Lexa had a flip phone because she was an 85 year old woman stuck in a 23 year old's body 🥴

Clarke keeps one of their wedding reception photos as it for a long while. A candid moment Monty had snapped when Clarke was laughing at something just out of frame, but all Lexa had eyes for was her. She looked happy. And very much in love with Clarke, for some inexplicable reason. They have classier ones from that day, but Clarke liked that one in particular a lot. For awhile after that it was the picture Raven took of them together that night when they'd hung out with the delinquents, when Lexa had held her and kissed her neck as a tipsy Clarke just relished in the closeness. Breathing in the way Lexa's hair smelled like shampoo and autumn bonfire smoke. Clarke liked that one too, enough that it gets framed and hung up in her house wherever she goes. But as time goes on she does evenly decide it's ok to choose other things. Pictures of art pieces that move her mostly, sometimes snapshots from her travels.

Demon au: Canot stress enough how little neither of them would care lol. If anything, Lexa would put something entirely inappropriate and private enough to have a once-human Clarke turning 10 shades of red. But as it is, Clarke would just find her ridiculous girlfriend funny and just so fucking Lexa, and thus try to give her something sinfully new to change it too next 😏

Cruel Intentions: they're disgusting. It's all very sappy. Always pictures of them kissing, if them wrapped up in each other's arms, of them draped over each other in bed. They have no filter and no fucks to give. But that's also how Clarke always knows if Lexa is annoyed with her about something and just not talking about it. Because if she sees her wife has replaced her with that godless chicken she pretends is a cat, she knows she's fucked up somewhere.

CoA: Clarke is functionally allergic to caring about her phone. She's busy, she works on computers a decent amount and spends her days with tiny patients, so when she's home she just wants to be home. Her phone is like... a tool in her mind. It's just the square in her pocket that she googles actors names on and that Raven uses to harrass her through text messages and that she can use to track down her wife around the hospital to see of she's free to go to lunch. So it's pretty much the same picture of them together on her couch (and the one of Lexa stretched out naked and asleep in their bed as the wallpaper) for several years until the women in her life start giving her shit for never changing it, and then it gets replaced by a new one of Lexa or both of them. Rinse and repeat every few years when she gets bored of hearing about it.

Lexa changes hers too often to narrow it down. Anything that feels fun in the moment. A pretty landscape. Clarke's face. A waterfall they saw on vacation. Clarke's face. A piece of architecture or art that makes her feel something. Clarke's face and a tasteful hint of her breasts. Her interests vary, you understand. She contains multitudes.

I think it’s subtle but not secretive at all, like when people look at you two for longer than a few seconds the love is so intense and unwavering it’s ridiculously obvious and hard to look away because of how in sync you two are. But I think if people were flirting too obviously, he’d walk over, loop an arm around your waist and be like, “hey, beautiful, ready to go home?” all smirking, tucking his hair behind his ear before ducking to give you a sweet kiss. I do also think he’d be kind of outrageous sometimes if he’d had a few drinks; he’d walk over and hug you from behind, a hand sliding up to rest just under your breasts in the centre. You’re all like, “suguru! stop! ah, sorry this is my partner!” whilst giggling into his touch, your body is as much his as it is yours. Your cheeks heat as he maintains eye contact with the person flirting with you as he kisses along the curve of your neck until he reaches your ear to whisper a silky, “mm, let’s go home.”

Things he likes to do to let others know is definitely that you guys have subtle matching things, like scarves, earrings, necklaces especially! Like a simple silver necklace that matches and hangs from each of your necks, I think he likes to hold hands too, and carry all your bags. His phone background is either deffo one of you in a robe on one of your spa getaways together, glass in hand, his large hand smushing both of your cheeks whilst you laugh, or it’s you all dolled up sat opposite him in a restaurant, with your eyes half-lidded, looking at him with all the love in the world. “Do you really need to put on makeup?”

“Yes, Ewan,” You replied, looking in the mirror as you put on your lipstick, a shade of red to match your dress.

Ewan chuckled and shook his head as he walked into the bathroom. He lightly wrapped his arms around your waist and pulling you close, your back against his chest. “You don’t need makeup though, love,” He said leaning down and kissed your cheek with a wide smile on his lips.

You looked up at him, smiling at the way he was looking at you. He always seemed to look at you with a love and adoration in his blue eyes. You smiled more when he took your hand and he kissed the back of your hand lightly.

“You always say I’m beautiful,” You said giggling.

“It’s not a lie,” Ewan replied smiling more as he leaned down kissing the side of your head and pulled you close to him.

You could tell you were close to the premiere with the bright and flashing lights. You took a deep breath holding tight onto Ewan’s hand and smiled lightly when he squeezed it.

“You got this, love,” He whispered in your ear kissing the side of your head.

You nodded slowly as the car came to a stop. You took a deep breath and looked over when the door was opened, smiling at the valet. You slowly got out and waved, laughing at how the fans cheered for you before Ewan climbed out, their cheers only seeming to get louder.

You smiled up at Ewan as some girls cheered out his name. “I think they’re here for you, who’s not even in the movie,” You whispered to him with a small smirk.

Ewan snickered as he waved, keeping an arm around your waist tight holding you close. He kissed your cheek only causing the fans to cheer even more. You smiled lightly while making your way down the red carpet, holding tight onto Ewan’s hand so the two of you don’t accidentally separate from each other.

You smiled wide for the cameras, Ewan’s arm wrapped around you, his smile just as wide. He always looked proud to show you off to everyone. It made your stomach do somersaults every time, the way Ewan treated you. He treated you as though you were a queen and he was your king. Some days you truly thought you did not deserve him.

You hooked your pinkie with his as you continued down the carpet, laughing a bit as fans called to you. You walked over, smiling at a young teenage girl as she started to tear up. You began to sign some posters and pictures, Ewan standing beside you.

“I just have to say,” The same teenage girl began. “You and Ewan are so cute. Can I actually take a picture with the two of you?”

You smiled brightly and nodded. “Of course!”

You pulled Ewan close to you as you smiled with the girl for her phone before hugging her and heading back down the carpet with your boyfriend after a few more autographs. You always loved when the fans were so accepting of your relationship, it warmed your heart.

Ewan pulled you close and kissed your cheek with a soft smile on his lips. “Come on, it’s time to go inside soon.”

Your face was makeup free and you were wearing one of Ewan’s shirts and a pair of sweats. The premiere was a success and everyone seemed to enjoy the film. You could already see how excited the fans would be when the premiere pictures come out tomorrow.

“Are you really streaming this late?” Ewan asked in a teasing voice as he came from the bathroom with a toothbrush in his mouth watching you set up your phone for an Instagram live.

“Only for a little bit.” You waved at your boyfriend a bit with a wide smile.

“Aren’t you tired?” Ewan asked, laughing.

“You’re high on something,” He mumbled walking into the bathroom with a chuckle.

You shook your head and smiled, relaxing on your bed as you set up the Insta Live, pressing the button. “Hi guys!” You greeted waving at the camera. “So, as you all knew tonight was the big premiere of my movie in London. It turned out well and I was so happy to meet as many of you as possible!”

You smiled more while you rambled onto your fans about the night. “Was Ewan with you?” You read a comment and you nodded with a soft smile. “He’s always with me! I honestly don’t think I can do this whole journey without him,” You admitted with a laugh.

You sat up a bit, moving your phone so you could have a better position of your face. “Ewan has been talking about how he has this big project coming up. He won’t even tell me what it is. Ewan smirked. “It’s not very much of a secret if I tell you, now is it?” He teased and leaned down kissing you gently on the lips.

You giggled while returning his kiss. “But the tension is killing me!” You whined before pouting as you looked into his blue eyes. “And you don’t want to kill me now, do you?”

Ewan hummed as though he was in thought and laughed when you hit him in the chest. He laid beside you and moved so the two of you were on the pillows. He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you close, nuzzling lightly into your hair.

You pulled the blankets up around you, content in his arms as he rubbed your arms up and down. You always enjoyed nights like these, where you had nothing to worry about. You always felt safe in his arms.

“You know I love you so much, Ewan,” You said looking up at him with a loving smile.

He returned your smile and leaned down kissing you gently on the lips. “I love you even more, Y/N,” He whispered before laying his head on top of yours.

You closed your eyes, your head on his chest as you listened to his heartbeat. Some days were more difficult than others, but you knew you could always go back to the love of your life.

Hiiiiii! Yes it is! My writing is very generalized as best it can be, I want all my readers to feel like themselves when they read my fics! I want them to feel just as loved, valued and appreciated as everyone else! I think that’s super important, that even if one of my requesters or my followers wants a specific request that I try to match it. But I mostly just focus on generalized descriptions because I want it to be all inclusive! I also come from a really diverse background, as an Indo-Fijian Mexican!😌 which is such an interesting mix and I’ve only ever met like one or two people who share the same kinda background. Sorry I've taken so much time to reply Flor ugh. I must confess that I didn't even thought about Alice in Wonderland movie version because I tend to match Alice with the books only. With that being said, you are surprisingly right, I'm baffled.

I think the physical resemblance is so obvious that nothing needs to be added. When it comes to the mentality they are closer than we can expect. It's true that I tend to depict Heaven as purely evil and creepy woman, which is not true (and also due to the fact the second act of HYE revolved pretty much around dark themes and Heaven's unleashed violence when the first was focused on the discovery of her background). With the few people she loves, Heaven is a ray of sunshine and is kinda optimistic.

Listing "six impossible things before breakfast" is something she would say! 🤭

Hufflepuff prefect Cedric was dating slytherin headboy tom riddle and one day he realised his boyfriend has started to behave coldly towards him and now seems very aloof and detached. He then one morning noticed tom looking intensely at the Gryffindor table. Cedric started to stalk his bf and find out to his dismay he is crushing on a fourth year Gryffindor seeker harry potter who also is cedric’s rival in Quidditch.

Because of this and to prove to tom how he is the better choice for him, he started a one sided beef with harry and harry is confused because he have no idea what happened to Cedric and why he is so mean all of a sudden. So, one day after a Gryffindor hufflepuff match harry corners Cedric and asks him what's wrong with him. Realising how immature he has been Cedric apologises to harry.

Later, he thought why not use this situation in his favour. Cedric always wanted to try threesome and this seems like a perfect setting so, he confronts his bf and tells him about his plan and obviously tom agrees because he has been crushing so hard on harry. Then, Cedric asks harry if he is willing for a threesome and harry being a fourth year upis over the moon that seniors IT couple has invited him for three some and he happily says yes.

Boy is very similar to Sam in many ways, most notably being that she is also a wanderer lmao Though parties and socializing with nobility is not her forte, it’s because not many can appreciate her beauty the way Sam does 😤 so she often is out and about where ever Sam may be—she probably is well known in some sort of street cat hierarchy, and Sam wouldn’t be surprised if she has her own personal cult following that he isn’t aware of (she IS divine after all, as are all cats, according to peepaw)

Some random Boy facts undercut✨

Sam found Boy left behind on a dock when he was beginning his travels with Mara; she was most likely left behind by some other wealthy person and seemed to the runt of a litter. It was impossible for Sam not see her and think “That’s me” and with much convincing (aka weeping and causing a scene), he convinced Mara to let him keep her and the rest was history :’)

Neither knew if she was a boy or a girl, and so Sam stuck with calling her Boy because really, it is a good name for a cat if you think about it (was this him projecting onto a kitten ???? Maybe. Yes. Absolutely it was lmfao)

Boy goes wherever Sam goes. It’s vital as Neeja and Imee aren’t often at his side when he travels, so it’s very important that he has her there

Donna’s nickname for her is “La Princesa”; just like Sam can understand Romeo, Donna is able to understand Boy. They’re one of the few people she gets excited to see that doesn’t live on the Isles. It’s not because Donna and Sam like each other or anything, though, don’t get it twisted >:(((

when he completes his museum, jake asks you to go over to his island for a virtual (but in-person) date night. he says you two can walk around and read all the facts on the signs together. you arrive at his island and he’s waiting for you in front of the museum. when jake’s character gives yours a flower in your favorite color, it’s hard to do anything but giggle into his shoulder as his arm around you pulls you even closer.

on the custom design app, you make a few designs for jake that are a copy of the t-shirts he owns in real life and he loves it so so much.

you don’t think there’s anyone else in the world who uses the nookphone camera app as much as jake. when you finally get your favorite villager on your island, he wants a picture of you 3 together. when you gift him clothing that matches the outfit your character has on, jake quickly puts it on his character so he can get a cute photo. when you’re giving him a tour of your remodeled island, he insists on taking a picture of you in front of your pretty garden of cross-pollinated flowers.

jake is a bit of a history nerd and this extends to art history. when redd visits your island, jake is always happy to help you choose the real artwork. he never has to look it up and it impresses you every single time.

with jake’s military background and line of work, he’s used to living and doing tasks by a schedule. he has a sleep schedule and doesn’t oversleep. lounging in bed is different; he has no problem with that, especially if it’s next to you. jake feels comfort from your presence under the warm sheets, even if you’re still asleep. very rarely does he go past a certain number of hours a night. so on sunday mornings when he’s awake and you keep drifting in and out of sleep, he grabs your switch to help you buy turnips from daisy mae while he cuddles you.

CD's Movie Poll #1 Winner

The Road to El Dorado

* fair warning: spoilers ahead *

Kicking off the start of my movie poll/movie watching series is Dreamworks’ The Road to El Dorado!

ngl this film has been on my watchlist for quite a while, and yet I never got around to actually watching it until now! (or rather, not until the other night lol) I’d heard so many great things about it before like the memorable characters, the kind of 2D animation that you really don’t see in Dreamworks films these days, and of course, the music!

I will say that I really enjoyed all three of those things in some ways and others 🤩

Right off the bat, Kevin Kline and Kenneth Branagh have really great chemistry! In fact, I loved their chemistry so much that I wanted to see footage of them recording their lines. so I legit looked up something like “road to el dorado behind the scenes” on youtube as soon as I finished watching the film and found that not only did they do ALL their voice recording sessions together in the same room but they also used plastic swords and playfully had it at each other!! AHHHHHH! so good!! 😂 ⚔️

but yeah they're hilarious! both on screen and behind it. I also just love the fact that both Kevin and Kenneth come from theater backgrounds cause I think that definitely added to how well they portrayed being con men 🎭

Ofc actors aside, some of you probably know this about me already, but I’m a BIG fan of dynamic duos when it comes to media...

I loved the straight man-ness that was Tulio, and he was probably my favorite of the two. I tend to like characters that find comfort in strategy, cause I tend to be that kinda person too. I know sometimes the logical and level-headed ones aren't always funny, entertaining, or the people to root for in the slightest. But Tulio definitely isn't one of them. I found myself chuckling at a good number of things he said and did like not believing in fate simply cause he relies on loaded dice for example, plus his sarcasm, and how much he tried to compose his patience as well

Miguel was great too! It was fun how much he loved the city of El Dorado and just wanted to take it all in, and his endless optimism of course! But he definitely needed more guitar playing scenes! idk there’s something about those characters who just have an instrument to play at the ready for dramatics that’s really humorous for me, it’s almost, if not totally, breaking the fourth wall in a way 😆

I also really enjoyed the Chief, I love how it’s implied that he knew all along Miguel and Tulio were humans and not gods and yet he still liked them and let them stay anyway. that said, it's kind of a shame that the pair didn't stay in el dorado cause there genuinely were people there who adored them when clearly the people of Spain didn’t…heck they didn't seem to have a problem that they weren't actually gods!

and you have to admit, Miguel and Tulio did match the stone art of the gods quite nicely, like the resemblance there was freaky 😳

Chel was great as well, her cleverness and way of sweet talking definitely stood out to me the most about her character, and I also really loved her voice! 😌

and Altivo the horse? I wanna say he was truly Miguel’s companion when compared to Tulio earning the heart of Chel. after all, Miguel was the one who wanted to rescue him and bring him along, and I was genuinely happy when they decided to bring him on their journey cause the horse wasn’t a bad guy, like he not only gave Tulio and Miguel the keys to escape the ship, but he wasn’t spiteful to them or anything. basically what I’m trying to say is he isn’t how Maximus treated Flynn Rider/Eugene Fitzherbert initially, horse to con man

As for the villain? well…this is the first of three times I’m gonna be saying, “I got some Aladdin vibes from this movie" 😅 👉👈 which isn’t completely a bad thing by any means! 

But yeah…I immediately got Jafar vibes the minute Tzekel-Kan came on screen (also I had to look up this name cause I didn’t catch it very well while I was watching this film, I just kept calling him “Priest Guy”)

I mean…the fact that he can do sorcery, on top of serving a sweet kind-hearted ruler, tangling with not just one but two thieves, anybody picking up what I’m putting down? Yeah that’s really all I gotta say about that guy 🤷🏻‍♀️

also I swear to god that Jim Cummings is in literally everything that was 2D-animated in the 1990s-2000s! and he's always gotta play that big tough guy. Again, that also reminded me of Aladdin. but then again the conquistador didn’t really have that big of a role in this, at the very least I just hope he gave T-K what he got coming to him

I guess just to get it out of the way, I was admittedly humming "One Jump Ahead" in the beginning when Tulio and Miguel are getting chased through the city, but that’s all there is in terms of Aladdin similarities the way i see it

lastly in terms of the characters and cast, I gotta give credit to Elton John for being part of it too! I mean who doesn't love a singing narrator? and he and Tim Rice did an awesome job crafting the soundtrack for this film. every song was absolutely BEAUTIFUL 🎶 ✨

Needless to say, the animation was 👌 and the opening sequence was definitely one of my favorites throughout the whole film as well as the expressions and the solid movements of the characters, very well done no question there. oh! and how there were just gold objects of anything from butterflies to apples in el dorado! they didn’t call it the city of gold for nothing! ��✨✨

but in the end, did it really have go the route of the overall goal is get all the gold by the end only to actually lose most, if not all, of it by the end? I just feel like that plot line is done a lot in movies. tho to be fair, this was made in the 2000s so heck, it probably began that trend. But I’ve found in recent years that when it comes to treasure hunting movies, this exact scenario happens just repeatedly and it’s nothing new. I’d say movies like The Goonies and Uncharted are two that come to mind for me that have this happen...

Now there’s no way I can conclude my thoughts here without saying how AMAZING the “It’s Tough to Be a God” sequence was! I LOVED the “It's Tough to Be a God" sequence from the singing of the two leads to the colors to the everything about it, it was all magnificent! I'd arguably say it was my favorite scene in the whole film! And I'd be lying if I said that Miguel and Tulio’s version hasn't been stuck in my head ever since I watched it, because so help me it HAS and STILL IS and why that version is not on Spotify, I have no clue, but it SHOULD be. Again, props to Elton and Tim for writing this song and the others!!

So overall, I thought El Dorado was a great movie! It was definitely worth the watch! It's not perfect by any means, I'm not even sure it's my favorite Dreamworks film, but it was still very fun and entertaining all the same and I'm really glad that I finally got to see it after all these years! 🤗

What is your ideal environment for when you write?

For me, I write a lot in the dark LOL! Or just somewhere cozy, but not too cozy because it is also VERY easy for me too fall asleep 🤣 and to be slightly more specific, I’ll either sit at my desk with my main lights off and just my lamp for lighting, or I’ll sit on my living room couch (again, with all the main lights off!!) and put on a show softly in the background for light and some noise 😌

I am very much with you on not using the "big light" and making sure the mood is right. Sometimes I light a candle and I have a lamp with a color-changing bulb and I use that to set the mood too.

I am sometimes able to put a show on in the background but it has to be something I won't want to give my attention to, so it's usually me replaying a season of something silly that I've watched before. Sometimes I can play music too but it has to match the vibes of what I'm writing.

But honestly? My ADD will kick in a lot of times and that background stuff will be overstimulating, so I have to turn it all off and just write in silence so I'm not distracted, lol.

i also love pacific rim!!! i watched it for the first time some time last year in prep for the del toro pinocchio movie (the only movies of his i haven’t seen are the two hellboy movies he directed and obviously the At the Mountains of Madness adaptation he was going to make with tom cruise and james cameron that is still haunting my daydreams.)

anyway—top gun is one of those movie franchises that doesn’t really leave room for alternate universe style fics imo because of how much sandbox space there is between both movies, but pacific rim also feels HANDMADE for top gun. if i had a nickel for every movie about a military maverick pilot who goes against the grain of his superiors and loses someone he has an emotional connection to in an accident inside the giant metal object they fight inside of, only to come back and defeat his mental barriers and discover a new emotional connection to a fellow pilot/ranger in the process, i’d have two nickels. you could replace all the planes in top gun with jaegers and the plot wouldn’t even change. “being a wingman is literally being drift compatible 🤓” - literally me five minutes into PR for the first time.

but this fic is probably my least finished one oop. i’ve been stabbing at it for a good month and don’t have a set plot (or pov), but the brunt of it is: maverick and goose get put in the jaeger program. goose dies (aw man) while fighting. maverick goes to the shatterdome (omg TOP GUN) and is enrolled back into the jaeger program in an attempt to find another pilot. since there’s a stupid wall being built and the program is losing funds, the US sends all their eligible jaegers to Hong Kong: maverick, a few other guys that might be his match (background 86ers) and the west coast jaeger team they already have (iceman and slider.) that’s about all i have so far for outline, since I don’t really know how to fold in a secondary plot or deal with the switch from iceman-and-slider to iceman and maverick discovering their drift comparability, but this fic is also just a silly time and a way for me to get some creative juices flowing. i don’t even know what time period it will be in (80s??? 2020s?? we’ll see)

left is just some notes on how i want to tackle mav, and right is my attempt at naming the jaegers and kaijus. i just keep shoving adjectives together until something sounds right.
