i will always be a fan of the idea of shadow and tails teaming up during forces

I doubt I'll ever actually make a MCD rewrite, gods know my fixation will die down long before I'd get anything on paper or even finish rewatching the whole thing, but it's still fun to share what ideas I have come up with, so here we are!

In a hypothetical rewrite, I would change a bunch of dynamics. If I were to write mcd, a large portion of season 1 would be relationship focused. And I DON'T mean romantic necessarily, I mean building relationships, fleshing out the town, making the audience really get to know the characters and how they interact with each other.

My biggest focus is on Aph's closest friends, so here are my current ideas and hcs!

(Note here: I mention aroace dynamics, I am aware that it's a spectrum, I myself am on the spectrum, I just haven't decided how it would work with Aph herself so it's vague.)

Garroth:

Still in love with Aph

Laurance is his best friend, depends on him when he can't depend on Aph

Views Dante as a younger brother or son

Much less jealous and possessive over Aph, accepts that she may never feel the same, though is causes him heartache.

Has a habit of "adopting" people, most likely due to his past and feeling like a failure to his younger brothers. (Zenix, Dante, Levin, Brian etc)

His closest friends are Aph, Laurance and Dante. Unlikely friendship with Dale and Logan along with Cadenza

Laurance:

Likes Aph, though mostly mistakes his loyalty and fondness and genuine friendship for love. Aph is just as important to him as she is in the series, it's just not romantic love

So much less pushy. So so much less pushy.

They play flirt with Aph, as they do in the series. (Example, the table scene in s1)

Puts his feelings for her aside whenever needed. She needs a guard? He's there. She needs a friend? She's there. She needs to gossip? Girl, what'd they do this time?

Tries to gently push Garroth to do something, anything about his feelings. The pushing turns less gentle after the SK business though it's not his fault

Father/Big brother figure to Malachi.

He's closest with Aph and Garroth and Cadenza, very close with Dante as well, though they don't know each other as deeply as the others do.

Probably friends with Katelyn and Nicole as well, they spar together from time to time.

Gossips with Lucinda from time to time, they shit talk over tea

Dante:

Sibling like relationship with Aph

Ridiculously loyal to her

Definitely closest to her than anyone else

Had a super good relationship with Nicole, would have stayed together had their interest not clashed.

Dante would have wanted to stay in touch but Nicole needed time to herself

Started getting close to Nana after their split

Loves children, father/big brother to Malachi and Levin

An absolute goof, loses braincells with Laurance, Garroth and Aph. (All of them are super capable by themselves, absolute dumbasses together)

Aph:

Not romantically interested in any of them (I haven't decided if she's on the aroace spectrum or just not interested in men, but I just don't imagine her liking any of the guys)

Views Dante as a brother, Laurance as her best friend and Garroth as a close friend

Has always kind of felt like there was a wall between her and Garroth, couldn't explain it

Genuinely unaware of Garroth's infatuation until the ending events of s1 or then the dreams of s2

Confused over Laurance and others teasing Garroth

Made an effort to get to know Emmalyn after their bad blood died down, recognising her own issues with boundaries and respecting people's space

Unlikely friends with Emmalyn, though it gets tainted a lil after the Irene discovery

(In case not aroace: Zoey is her wife, though this could also be interpreted as platonic. In any case, they are wives and share a friendship that could only be seen as soulmates.)

Considers Laurance and Zoey her platonic soulmates, feels as though the two understand her better than anyone could or would.

Bonds with Aaron particularly well, though they have no romantic involvement.

Aaron:

Not in love with Aph

Sees his late wife in Aph along with his son in Levin and Malachi, and they end up helping him heal over time.

Forms a special type of bond with Aph, and finds himself able to rely on her much more than anyone else

Begins bonding with the others first over their shared hatred of Zane

Due to his time as a lone wolf, he struggles greatly with talking to people for a while

'Fast' friends with Dante, the two bond over the loss of their villages and family.

Surprising friends with Logan, along with Brendon and Emmalyn.

Becomes a father figure of sorts to Dante, Levin, Malachi and other youngins in the town.

Enjoys sparring with people, but begins first doing it out of necessity to be stronger, though it overtime becomes something he truly enjoys

Soft spot for kids

Ferociously protective of Aph due to their close relationship and her resemblance to his wife.

Ends up finding peace in Phoenix Drop, willing to do anything to protect it

Helps Levin figure out lord stuff with Aph.

Elite Force’s Many Lost Opportunities

The thing that annoys me most about Elite Force is Elite Force could have been great to the Mighty Med characters and even the Lab Rats characters.

Let’s all be honest, Elite Force isn’t the best show in the world and a lot of it comes down to the writing of characters. I feel like the show had a lot of potential and maybe that’s why so many fans make so much fan content related to that era of the show. Seriously the amount Elite Force content v. rest of Mighty Med and Lab Rats is kind of amazing.

Today I wanted to take a closer look at Elite Force’s many missed story and character opportunities. I got the inspiration to make this due to this thread. These are thing I’ve been thinking about for a long time… but I think it’s kind of time to put it out there. Elite Force isn’t a bad idea, just bad execution.

Oliver, Kaz, and Skylar

I think the villains kids(Riker and Roman) and their evil father(Rodissius) is meant to parallel Douglas(during his evil days) and Krane. When we could have had Oliver seeing something of his mom in the main dad villain, Rodissius. We could have seen more of that arc with his evil mom. We could have had his mom show up. I will never not be bitter about that plot point never getting proper follow through.

We could have had Skylar relating to the main villain losing his powers instead of the show just giving her powers back. Like seriously, why didn’t Skylar have anything to say about villain and losing powers? She went through this. She had a whole ‘going evil’ due to getting her powers back arc and then having to lose them again. It was a huge part of her character and arc in Mighty Med, only to be forgotten in Elite Force. Seriously, why is the villain, Rodissius, so similar to Skylar if the writers weren’t going to do anything with it? Just why?

Kaz could have been the middle ground between the two being like “we need to put them down”. Kaz could still be mad about Mighty Med. We could have had moments of Skylar and Oliver bonding and comforting each other over the loss of Mighty Med. Just think about it.

We also could had Kaz and Oliver being bros learning powers with Skylar getting jealous to then becoming a mentor to them. Even Bree and Chase could mentor more like they did on the island.

Most of all, Elite Force needed to remember Kaz, Skylar, and Oliver are friends. Kaz and Oliver are ride-or-die best friends and might as well be brothers. Kaz is implied not be close with his parents or his siblings so Oliver is his family. Skylar doesn’t have family being part of a clone race and I honestly view Skylar as a sister to Kaz and Oliver or at very least her found family along with everyone else at Mighty Med.

Returning Mighty Med Characters

Even Alan could show up and be able to relate to villain. Part of Alan’s arc in Mighty Med was learning to accept being half-normie. Even Horace would be in the show somehow as a captive of villains. Like Roman and Rimer took Horace to heal their father and give him back his powers since at the wedding Horace was revealed to be Caduceo, the legendary healer of superheroes, to the world or something(that even ties the spinoff into Mighty Med).

Gus or Jordon would show up after Oliver, Kaz, and Skylar were on the news being apart of Elite Force. There could have been a story of their normie friends from school finding out about the superhero world and Skylar’s real name not being Connie Valentine.

Leo, Adam, and Other Lab Rats Characters

The show could have used Douglas better. Douglas used to be evil. The villain is an evil dad. There is something there even if it’s just a joke considering Douglas was evil dad and Krane was too to some extent. Why wasn’t that a joke in the show(like someone should have said “what’s with us and evil parental figures?”). Douglas could even talk to Oliver about his mom being evil. Douglas could relate to him and help Oliver come to terms with mom being evil and maybe give Oliver hope his mom could one day be redeemed.

Leo and Adam could have shown up. I understand actors and contracts, but the show could have mentioned the characters. The show seemed to miss Adam having Adam around with Bob’s return. I like Bob, but it felt like it should have been Adam there and not Bob. Again, like Bob but it always felt like the writers wanted Adam there instead. The show did clearly miss Leo too since AJ is basically a Leo Dooley stand-in.

There could have been a conversion between Donald, Chase, and Bree along lines of “why did you two allow AJ to stick around?” And they don’t know. Donald eventually nods and says “I think I do. He’s a bit like Leo. I miss him too, but remember he’s not Leo.” Or something like that. Even Kaz could remember Bree and Chase of Adam. There is something there that could be touched on.

I think Perry, Donald, Tasha, and Naomi were handled well, but I do still wish Adam or Leo showed up.

Chase and Bree

Chase got an arc of his girlfriend being evil and Bree wanting more powers. Chase and Bree could have an arc of being away from home/family for the first time and being homesick. The penthouse is basically like going off to college or boarding school when you think about it. The characters move away from home and live with kids their age in a dorm/apartment.

Chase could have had a real arc about interacting and being a person outside the comfort of his family/island. Bree could have had an arc of learning that she doesn’t need more powers(I still don’t like that storyline for Bree. It just feels like it comes out of nowhere and is excuse to give Bree more abilities without having to introduce them). Bree could have had a self acceptance storyline.

Mighty Med and Elite Force

The world and characters of Mighty Med when the show ended and Elite Force stated, it didn’t feel like an ending for the show like Lab Rats. That’s a problem a lot of fans of Mighty Med have. I loved both shows since their premiere. Mighty Med was just getting started and their characters were the same. There was so much more left to see of this world before Elite Force. Then Elite Force came and didn’t seem to understand or know much about Mighty Med. If you looks at the people who worked on Elite Force, it’s mostly people from Lab Rats with very few from Mighty Med.

I’ve said this for years, but Mighty Med needed one more season before Elite Force to wrap up their story. The sad thing is Might Med didn’t get that. We got Elite Force. As a fan of Mighty Med, I’ve always had so many problems with Elite Force. As a Lab Rats, I still don’t care for Elite Force. There was something missing in this spinoff and we all know it.

Conclusion

I am just seeing all we could have had and didn’t get. There are so many good ideas here but none of them were taken. The show could have been better.

Every time I sit down and watch Elite Force I get the impression there wasn’t a lot of passion behind it. There’s also a lot of cooks in the kitchen(just look at the credits) and that might explain the writing. The show just feels like a mess that no one really wanted to make.

Mel I am wondering when you think Ian told Mickey about Monica. When Ian had his first low episode, Mickey didn't seem to know what bipolar was or that Monica had it. Fiona said it. And then at the beginning of season 5 they both seemed to be avoiding the whole conversation about Ian being sick at all. And then Ian was hospitalized and then arrested and then Monica came back and then they broke up and then Mickey was arrested. I don't know. When do you think they finally had the time to discuss Monica? Ian's connection to her? How he insists he's not like her? Thanksgiving? I don't know. Just having Monica thoughts today.

you're right - the timing never really allowed for any real conversation about her. mickey probably asked after ian came to find him in 1x09 - but it was likely surface level and i doubt there was much actual discussion before the Freezer Bang.

maybe mickey heard whispers about monica around the neighborhood, just like anyone had heard them about terry. and ian was still so resentful of her in s1/s2. if they talked about anything to do with monica, it probably wasn't her illness. maybe an offhand comment as they got more comfortable with each other in s2/s3. bonding over shitty parents - but not a lot of detail, i wouldn't think. there just wasn't time!

i don't think he talked about her at all in s4/s5. not to anyone. he was too sick and probably too deluded about his time with her. it had to confusing - to be so defensive of her, to want to connect with her, but also to still resent her and feel so viscerally offended at being compared to her? not to mention all the drugs and sexual trauma that resulted from being with her..... while suffering through vast changes and mood swings on top of that? impossible to sort through.

and part of s6 (i think) was internalizing it all. he's so fucking depressed in that season. remind me to go off on that another time. i don't think they would have really talked about her in the s7b arc, either - he probably wanted to talk about his job and laugh and fuck and soak up that time with mickey in the sun.

and then s8. i cannot speak of it askjfh he had nO ONE TO TALK TO ABOUT HER AND I KNOW MICKEY WOULD HAVE LISTENED I AM SICK ABOUT IT.

so i really think their first real conversation about her must have been in prison. isn't that wild? mickey probably picked up clues over the course of their relationship, and he definitely learned about bipolar disorder. but as much as we like to think that ian is chatty and emotional and soft.......... he's a closed book about certain things. and monica + their illness is absolutely part of that. so mickey hearing about monica FROM IAN probably took all these years. not for ian to trust him or anything - but i think. just time for ian to find the vocabulary. and the time. and just to be able to talk about it without so much pain.

so it probably starts with ian talking about what happened, everything that led to the van. losing her and losing mickey, feeling lost. mourning her alone. getting sick and losing control without seeing it again. feeling powerful and special until suddenly it was all over.

i think he probably wanted to be truly heard, finally, by someone that loves him. the siblings tried (mostly), but their own experiences with her clouded it over. which makes sense! but i think as they settled in, and as they told each other the stories that made their time apart, monica finally came into play.

how hard it was to lose such a complicated figure..... how he was the only one (save for carl, who was away at school) that didn't have a last happy moment with her. how his last moments with her were so hurtful and angry. but how he saw her and she saw him. she loved him, she made him feel special, even if she never came through for him. and he'll never see her smile again - and how, despite the pain she caused, he probably always thought he'd see it again.

at first, i think it was about mourning and connecting. letting it all out. they trade their horror stories about mexico, the cartel, the shelter and church, gay jesus..... the recent past, ya know? but then i think that the routine will get to him.

it's good, the structure. wake up, meds, work, downtime, meals, lights out. but i also think that the monotony would get to him before too long. the agitation as he is still recovering from a major episode. so i think that's when he'll start to get frustrated.

because he always said he wasn't like her, right? it drives him in many ways. to avoid putting himself and his family through that pain. but look where he is - he didn't flee, like she might have. he didn't drag his family into the legal battles, either. he's doing his time and trying to make it right.

but with the boredom and frustration and stagnation.... he's gotta wonder how much better he's doing. god. how SLOW recovery feels when the progress is not so visible, and when you have so much more to build up. he lost his job. and i think he'd talk about her more here. how he feared this. how scared he is that this is it. or how his family must be feeling about him now. her stealing from them, leaving them behind, putting them in danger. traumatizing her children on thanksgiving because she could never just get help and stick with it. it'll scare them both, talking about that day. but he's never really had the chance before - life just kept happening.

and this is where mickey kinda gets the earlier picture, i think. the things that were happening in s1/s2 come out. things he'd heard about in passing and pieced together. only now more directly from ian, finally. and his final break in s5 would probably come up here, too. particularly taking yev and ending things with mickey.

this is what they'll work on together. probably always, but starting while they're together all the time in prison. ian's fears of becoming unreliable, unworthy, and irredeemable. mickey's fears of never being able to keep him safe and close, of never being free together again. they'll heal over time together, always working at it.

now - the s4/s5 era. i think that's harder. i still don't think he's talking about all that yet. still vague mentions of being with her, of random memories that might pop up. but this era - the club, the men, the drugs, the uncontrolled mania, the crash. this is more intensive. i'm thinking this is a longer process. i'm not sure what the catalyst is. i'd hoped storylines like 11x03 and HOS might spark it.... in an ideal world, if i were in charge, it would be around here. and your fic, too, with tami and ian working through things together. feeling steady and stable, at last, in a way that allows him to talk about it and heal.

he and mickey have SO MUCH trauma. maybe after frank passes, they have a bit of a wakeup call. life is happening! here it is! to give themselves their best chance, they gotta do some work. so........ hopefully they'll keep talking about her. and not just the hurt! i like to think that mickey will give ian the space to remember her laugh, and the way her fingers felt in his hair. his mom. maybe they'll bring her flowers now and then.

and mickey will know her and ian will remember her, and she won't be such a ghost. she'll just be a fact of his life. someone to learn from, even now. i think ian will always be a little sad for her, but i think the gallaghers will all let go of their rage in time. frank and monica were who they were, and they gave the gallaghers each other. that's huge. ian will always work to live the life his mother never could, and he'll always have mickey there to tell him how well he's doing 🥺

Part 4

Hunter Bradley

Background/story

Hunter and Blake met when they ended up in the same foster house/orphanage

Hunter’s bio parents died in a car crash when he was about 9. He still remembers them

Hunter saved Blake from some bullies and they adopted each other on the spot and became inseparable

Could have been adopted a couple times individually but refused to leave the other behind

Hunter is extremely protective of his little bro and will not lose him to anything or anyone 

They still bicker and tease as siblings do, but are very close and open with each other

Then their adoptive parents came and adopted them both (Blake was 9, Hunter was 11-12)

They were amazing parents and loved their boys very much

They loved them too

They are ninjas and teach the boys their ways (they are very surprised to find that they have the same/similar elements despite not being related)

Lothor kills their parents (He’s attempted to come back before and the elemental academy and the thunder academy (which used to be one academy) fought him off)

Sensei Omino blames Cam’s dad for the death of so many ninjas/students, including their parents, so he raises Blake and Hunter to hate Sensei Watanabe and all who he teaches

Sensei Omino is a very strict teacher since thunder elementals can get volatile and destructive if they let their emotions get the better of them

Pushes them to use their rage to fuel their powers as an outlet, which is why they are so powerful

Also just very pushy in general, often harshly and without mercy (Hunter took the brunt of it to protect Blake)

Once Sensei Omino and the rest of the Thunder academy (formally known as the Academy of Thunder and Lightning) get kidnapped by Lothor, Lothor strikes a deal with them to destroy the wind rangers and he’ll let the other students go

They agree (they get to free their fellow students and get revenge on the man who killed their parents)

Hunter is genuinely surprised at how easy it is to become friends with Dustin

He sees him as a bit of an airhead and a dork at the beginning (he’s trying to bury his feelings with insults)

Has to try very hard not to start actually liking him

After the whole evil then good then evil then good again thing, he and Dustin become very good buddies and they hang out a lot both on and off the track

The also share a lot of shifts at Storm Chargers, though Hunter works a bit more since he doesn’t have school anymore

Appreciates Dustin’s honesty/bluntness

Him and Dustin infodump about dirt bikes all the time (Blake joins but he isn’t nearly as technical or mechanical as Dustin and Hunter)

Loves hanging with Dustin’s family (he’s always wanted a big family like his)

Eventually realizes he has feelings for Dustin and has to deal with all that emotional mess

Tori is like the sister he never had and he likes to taunt and tease her (they are twins your honor)

He teases Blake about her all the time

He secretly has their whole wedding plan if they ever get together

Hunter approves of her becoming his sister legally

He’s a hopeless romantic but shh it’s a secret

Blake teases him about Dustin when he figures out what that whole thing is (“Hypocrite”)

They are both equally bad at flirting (Tori and Dustin thinks it’s cute, much to their mortification)

He despises Shane on sight

Out of all the rangers, he’s the one that he imagined when Sensei Omino described the elemental ninjas

Hates how self-confident and arrogant he can come off sometimes (different flavors of protective older brother)

Toxic rivalry that turns into healthy competitiveness

They bond over that protective older brother-ness

Still have a rivalry and are competitive but a bit more playful

Tori joins sometimes if they challenge her

It’s all fun and games

Feels bad about kidnapping Cam that one time but then realize how lucky they were that Cam didn’t engage any safety protocols

Cam can be scary when he wants to be

He also lets them test out his new security system once he programs it in >:)

Hunter respects the shit out of him

Everyone is protective of their greenie (He gives littlest sibling energy) (even though he’s an only child) (And also older than three of them)

Kelly is chill and he likes her as his boss well enough

Personality/headcanons/arcs

Had to grow up quick because of his bio and adoptive parent’s death (no one tell batman)

Often comes off as “dark and brooding” according to his brother

He’s snappish and quick to interpret things as an insult (opposite of Dustin)

Also hotheaded and stubborn

Doesn’t talk a lot outside of his brother (Dustin didn’t mind and just talked enough for him)

Is actually a big softie, especially for kids (and Dustin)

Dustin sussed it out immediately and tried to introduce him to is little siblings and cousins as soon as possible because he knew they’d love him (he was right)

Started rapping/singing to Blake to make him feel better after he woke up from a nightmare and it went off from there (really likes rap/punk/rock music)

Didn’t have a lot of friends because trauma and also basically raising his brother

Very snarky, he and Cam will roast your ass into oblivion

Also just blunt, he and Dustin bond over this (People think Dustin is an idiot because he’s not afraid to ask questions and people think Hunter is mean because he always says what he thinks about people)

He has The Smirk ™ (you know what I’m talking about don’t pretend like you don’t)

Is an absolute powerhouse

Again, him and Blake use their rage to power their abilities (and they have a lot of rage)

Go through a Zuko arc to learn how to put the power back in their punches after joining the rangers

Blake and Hunter are the fastest of the rangers

Hunter is like thunder, loud, powerful, and can shake you to your core

He’s also just physically strong (second strongest to Dustin)

They have arm wrestling contests all the time (Dustin is holding back because he can actually toss Hunter into the sky if he wanted)

Shane gets creamed whenever he joins

Blake, Tori and Cam are smarter than that

Hunter can somewhat control the weather (when he and Tori fight, they can create a storm) 

Use their powers to speed up their bikes on occasion (Dustin says they're cheating to which they mention the whole sensing the earth for the best path thing and that whole conversation happens)

They don’t use it during official races, only when racing each other

Blake and Hunter have little electricity lines on the arms from their powers (they don’t hurt, they’re more like birthmarks than scars)

Specialized in the thunder staffs, but can use almost any kind of big, sharp stick (scythe, spear, sword, etc.)

Has nightmares about his parents dying (less frequent now, but it was bad for most of his childhood)

Sincerely hated every single person on Lothor’s ship and was tempted to burn it to the ground multiple times but didn’t because of The Plan

Hates what Marah did to Dustin (if looks could kill)

Opens his own academy after taking over for Sensei Omino (he goes into retirement, not entirely by choice)

Mainly works with kids

Does what Thunder sensei should’ve done for him and Blake

His kid from Good Will Hunter is there

PERSONALITY

most days, valerie is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, the kind of girl who smiles at everyone she meets and greets strangers with a smile on the daily. she likes making people around her happy and thrives when people around her shine.

however, she can be very closed off and go as far as to be very deceitful? I mean, she is sharp, even though people don’t think she is because they write her off as a “ingenue” type, but what most people don’t know is she can be cunning whenever she sets her mind on it, she learned from a very young age how to take advantage of everything she had to get what she had her mind settled on.

the one thing she cares the most about in the world is her family. although not a family by blood, they are her everything and there is nothing she wouldn't do for them. yet no one comes close to her younger sibling, whom she met on her first foster home and has protected ever since.

her hobbies include painting and sculpting (which she makes some money off of), gardening (her home is a glorified zen garden by now) and sewing and designing clothes (she sometimes uses this skill to make clothes for selling or to gift to friends and family, it's a skill she had to pick up on while in the system to keep herself and his sibling dressed).

loyal to no end, good god. It takes a lot for her to feel comfortable with someone to call them her friend but once she does, she is the most loyal friend. also the mom friend, no matter how close you are. if it’s even a little bit chilly outside and she sees a stranger shivering she WILL give them her sweater, has medicine and candy on her at all times.

not the best at romance. she loves the chasing stage, loves to flirt and all that but keeping a relationship can be a handful for her. she often runs before things get too serious, has probably had one or two real relationships and neither of them ended on the greatest of terms.

she can be quite impetuous and extremely curious to the verge of being noisy, but never in a malicious way, unless you mess with someone she cares about.

whatever you throw her way, she’ll land on her feet.

this post is gonna seem so fucking random, and its really not at all important, tiktok is just being tiktok, and I have something to say that really doesn't mean shit but would get me flamed on that hellsite, and I hate not saying whats on my mind, even when its in my best interest so I'm saying it here, cause I can, just ignore me.

there seems to be this devote group of people in the SoC's fandom (*cough cough* I've only seen them on tiktok, and they're always those types of fans, that just like, care way to much about others opinions. *cough cough*) who hate people who see the dynamic of kaz and wylan as a father/son-esque relationship, like getting all types of mad about it. again it was like 5 or 6 people, but it was enough to make me really think about it and then proceed to get pissy, cause I'm a stubborn asshole at heart who can't just drop something once it's pissed me off, and it really only pissed me off cause someone said interpreting them like that was "infantilizing gay men" and I just... no, please no, that's not at all whats happening, I promise.

so here's my unnecessary two cents, cause I can't just move on;

what would you like me to call their dynamic hmm? kaz is only a bit older in age, but forced himself to mature and take on burdens that make him much older then he is, burdens he won't let anyone take off his shoulders. while he is very much like a mentor or older brother to wylan, trying to be who he needed after losing jordie, his role within the group as a whole puts him into much more of a caretaker role. he's the dad of the group, he is provider and protector, he is the brawny brains so to speak, a very paternal energy as head of the 'family'. he is the protector of his crows, he takes care of them, all of them, in his own fucked up ways, being what they need him to be. he would do anything for them, even if he tries to hide it, and this typically ends up with him in one way or another taking on a nurturing role of sorts (describing this man is so hard, cause his internal vs. external actions are so fucked by his mental state. going above and beyond for him and like bare minimum to the average person, and I don't know how to verbalize it). factor that into the fact that wylan lacks a father figure, a good one at least, he naturally plays that role in a very similar way that an older brother or mentor would fill the void of a younger sibling/mentee. wylan also looks up to and takes after kaz a lot, which points into the father/son-esque vibes. all in all, no they aren't your traditional father/son dynamic, but like, that's the closest simple term I can slap on them, cause I'm not giving this little speech a million times. their dynamic is messy and layered and complicated by both of their metric tons of trauma, paired with the overall found-family/trauma-bond thing those littles shits got going on over there. let them be messy and let me just sat father/son for my sanity, I beg (if someone tells me I'm infantilizing wylan cause he's gay/dyslexic/autistic-coded I'm gonna have a stroke, I just want my boys to be vaguely happy and have some semblance of family alright, and sure, maybe my daddy issues play into it, but that's none of your goddamned business)

5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?

I had an AU thing for Zhongli where he is actually a deified folk hero, much like some of the gods in Chinese pantheon (e.g Guan Yu or Zhong Kui), and he plays the role of Hou Yi in this story (because I'm obsessed with him being an archer).

He starts out as a normal guy, and got tasked by the emperor that he serves to think of a solution to save the land from getting scorched by 10 suns. These 10 suns are actually Jinwu (三足烏) and got playful but did not know they were harming the people (or didn't care). So when negotiation didn't work for them, Zhongli shot 9 of them dead with his bow and arrow.

Despite saving Liyue, Zhongli got himself exiled because the emperor feared his influence and power, yet dared not execute him outright lest the people riot. For his sin of murdering its siblings, the last jinwu cursed him with immortality. 

The story is supposed to follow how Zhongli will inevitably lose the people and places and things that are dear to him because of the curse, but the only thing that stays constant is his bond to jinwu, even though all the bird does is to mock and taunt him.

I couldn't actually figure out where their relationship was going though, and gave up.

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?

Hmm... for Genshin Impact, it would be either Gift (Rezhong) for the cuteness and intimacy or spoonful of sugar (Zhongchibai). I'm fond of palace dramas and the scenes that I enjoy most are the 'behind the scenes' where people play a front before those they are not close to (among many other reasons, especially between the emperor's women and the emperor himself) and only show their true colours when in a private setting.

For DCMK, it would probably be Be Not Afraid because of how unsettling it is. I actually wrote that fic on pen and paper during free time at work and I'm immensely proud of how it turned out. The segmented, seemingly non-continous structure feels like it would adapt to a visual medium well.

17. What’s something you’ve learned about while doing research for a fic?

Researching dirty talk and humiliation for a fic (I forgot which one) as well as non-sexual d/s stuff people could do and 99.5% of it turns me off so badly. I had to come up with it myself. It's not my personal preference in reading or anything where humiliation is achieved by calling the bottom degrading pet names. It just feels so, so cheap. So that was one thing I learned about myself.

Also: One of the emperors that ruled ancient China loved pens (calligraphy/writing brushes) so much that people kept sending him pens as tribute and gifts. At some point he got to over twenty thousand pens in the palace and he had to officially go NO. STOP. NO MORE FUCKING PENS. (but in a nicer way). Also when the emperor shows up he has a whole orchestra playing music (emperor bgm) upon his entrance during special events. (information obtained from museums) (you probably know this already)

How would Gabriel feel about the whole Samifer pregnancy situation? I really love the way you write him, and I feel like Lucifer needs at least one sibling to be outwardly supportive of him in a healthy way. Wait, on that note, does Gabriel tell Michael to cool off and try and get him to rationalize his behaviour? (Good luck with that)

Assuming Samifer pregnancy coincides with Lucifer taking a chill pill on the whole 'ending the world' thing, I think Gabriel's feelings on the whole thing would be... complicated.

On the one hand, this is what he wants, an end to the fighting! bit of an unorthodox way to go about it, but as long as Lucifer's no longer on-board with trying to kill Michael, that's overall a win for Gabriel.

On the other hand (and I think specifically these feelings extend to any scenario in which Lucifer or Michael stops for reasons other than 'because Gabriel wants them to and has wanted them to for centuries',) Lucifer's doing this because he's building his own new little family. He's got Sam, he's got a baby coming, and just because Gabriel's there with them, doesn't mean he's with them, you know? He's used to being able to cut and run, but that also translates into feeling disposable? if that makes sense. He ditched Heaven and they just moved on like losing him didn't even matter. (From Gabriel POV. I think we all know that losing him so soon or even before losing Lucifer forever, depending on when you set Gabriel leaving, actually severely fucked up Michael & Raphael and contributed to Heaven becoming as bad as it did.)

So, he's obviously happy there's not going to be an Apocalypse throwdown, at least on Lucifer's end, but at the same time, resentful, because why is Lucifer making an exception now, why didn't he back down for Gabriel. (I do at least think Gabriel's got the sense in him to not like. resent the baby itself for this. it's mostly him being passive aggressive towards lucifer about it.)

He's going to come around to it in the end. If you're like me and just ignore the later seasons retcon that Gabriel isn't actually Loki, he's the only angel with any experience being pregnant. He knows how to help Lucifer, and what better way to bond than over dealing with pregnancy nonsense? Lucifer is soo grumpy and out of sorts when stuff just starts aching randomly, and Gabriel is annoying & helpful in equal measure.

And at whatever point Michael figures out what's going on and shows up, very perturbed by Lucifer being A) free of their destiny and choosing not to even show up to the big fight and B) PREGNANT????, seeing Gabriel ALSO ALIVE AND THERE SOMEHOW???? is probably going to be enough to send him into shock asjkldjaksdj. Gabriel just gently escorts him outside, sits him down, and goes, "We're uncles now :) We have a chance to be happy and not explode each other and this nice world we've got :) You mess this up and I will stab you myself :D"

(Internally, Gabriel is freaking the fuck out, but hey, he's convincing to Michael, at least.)

I found a video about "limerence" and attachment issues. (Very long).

I think some of the anxious preoccupied parts are stuck in limerence. It's helping me to see a bit more clearly what's happening, like how it's not grounded in the present (unfortunately, I have to think about that stupid childhood again).

I recognize wanting to find a home in another person - desperately wanting to feel welcome. I recognize fantasizing about rescue and idealizing people. I did that a bunch as a child. I recognize the deficit of connection. Also a deficit of being cuddled and touched.

I have to untie this from romantic love. Honestly, I have no idea if I'm capable of romantic love. Is there anything in me beyond the longing for an attachment figure? I doubt it.

Unfortunately the "ways to work on limerence" don't seem very inviting. Daily affirmations and daily rituals. I know the weekly yoga is a good thing right now. I know the daily cuddles with plushies are good. I know spending time with parts is also helpful over time. Plus finding words for things, finding step-by-step explanations and guides. Like when my T borrowed me the deck of cards with words for needs, I finally had possible answers for ("what do you need?") and that helped so much. I think my next step is going to be more journalling. The Courage to Heal has journal prompts (it is a scary book I haven't read yet, but it does sit on my shelf), and I really like the journal prompts from Unmasking Autism. They are often more about strengths and other good things.

"Little me", to summarize the cluster of super young parts, is highly emotionally volatile. It's such a wounded and dysregulated little person. So desperate and vulnerable. About age 0 - 3. When the world is a chaotic world in which you're very much powerless. I idealize(d) my mum a lot, because she responds to the anxious preoccupied-ness with her own anxious preoccupied-ness. It's ironic, because I WAS clearly the apple of her eye. No neglect there. Just neglect because she was so struck with trauma, grief and dissociation herself. Our bond was very intense. I was allowed to be my full neurodivergent self. She accepted my picky eating, my sensory avoidance and sensory seeking, my open and curious look at the world, my incessant talking (way too much), my intense focus, my need for quiet and structure. She couldn't soothe my strong emotions, but she was there for me in many other ways. Like stroking my back every night. It's just that I wasn't allowed to step out of that connection either. I had to stay close to her intenseness, or she would freak out. Even while staying close she freaked out a lot, because she was very traumatized. I was really scared of upsetting her, because her upset would be like the whole world turning dark and even more scary.

My limerence is maybe thinking back to those times I *did* feel fully accepted. When life was calm and my mum was happy.

The scary things that happened were way beyond my comprehension. The fights. Losing my siblings. Being abandoned (left with the other parent), where suddenly everything would be different and I would be scolded for not knowing what to do. I was so scared. My dad has opened up a bit more about his experience of my early childhood and he said that I was unhappy most of the time, very upset. He said that my second birthday was one of the few happy days he remembers. That was right before he and my mum split up for good, although they already split up and got back together a few times before that.

I don't remember that day, of course. But I remember other birthdays and days, and I know I was happy whenever my mum would be happy. She loved being away in our cabin, so I have a lot of good memories there. She loved Easter, so that feels like a safe holiday.

My dad said he didn't "fight for me", because he was too scared of my mum. She is very manipulative and proud of it. She still is.

But she did make me the apple of her eye and when I was with my dad I lost all of that. I lost anyone capable of taking my needs into account in any way. So I longed for my mother. And I weeped and wailed, alone on the carpet. No one to comfort and no one to care.

My dad said I needed a lot of constant attention and I was very clingy. But my mum could leave me to play for myself for 4 hours at a time. It was a matter of feeling unsafe.

And I hate that it still affects me even now.

ahh maybe one day! I think the struggle for me would be figuring out the plot outside him and the OC. I'm not very good at writing stories where romance is the only thing going on. I find that I lose motivation kinda quickly, and that if I finish them I hate what I write, like with "you see me in hindsight". but then I also lose steam if things get too complicated. it's a delicate balance lol.

figuring out a love story where it would be enough to last a few chapters would be fun! I'm thinking the girl would have an A name - Maybe Ariadna? A play on Ariadne and Arianne (which we know is a canon name). But I'm not sure. I'm thinking very much Livia Drusilla inspired character after Tom was in Domino. It's so much fun to think about!

she's trying to find power and regain her agency and if being Aegon's mistress is the way to go, so be it, but then he pulls sweet antics like having the servants plant rows of her favourite flowers in the gardens even though they kill the other plants and ruin the habitation, and she melts for him a little.

but yeah, she's very no-nonsense I think, trying to regain custody of her son (I'm imagining her husband dies under ✨ curious ✨ circumstances and his family take her son from her so she flees to King's Landing for aid), and aegon is just there. desperate for love and affection.

OUU what if she was distantly a strong. LOL. rhaenyra and aegon can have some much needed sibling bonding over that.

Been working out how Talassan feels about each of his companions and I think I've figured out the gist. Under a cut because spoilers and also wall of text.

Tal loves Bellara so much. She's definitely the closest he has to a sister and he wants to just protect her from like. Everything. He would do just about anything for her at this point.

.... But he does also tease her from time to time. Like any good big brother should. XD

Emmrich is the hardest to figure out. Tal respects him and loves to talk magic with him, even if he doesn't understand half of what he's saying (vastly different schools of magic and all that). He just got the lich talk and isn't sure yet how he feels about it, but he wants to support whatever decision Emmrich settles on.

He's known Harding the longest of any of them except Varric and while he does go Big Brother Mode on occasion, he also trusts her possibly the most out of the whole group.

(Also I know what end-game decision I'm gonna go with and it is killing me. >.<)

He and Davrin have bonded way more than I expected, over Assan and being Grey Wardens and a lot of other stuff. Davrin is his brother in more ways than one. And it doesn't hurt that they're both ready to fight to protect Assan (and his siblings when they find them).

Taash is almost as close as Bellara at this point, Tal just wants to help them figure out what they want and be happy. And killing dragons is pretty fun, so they get to bond over that too. XD

I wish I could find words to describe how he feels about Neve. Tal is the oldest of his siblings so he never had a big sister himself, but that's probably the closest? She's been with him along with Varric and Harding from the start of all this mess, and he trusts her and wants her to be happy even as he looks to her constantly for advice. The whole Minrathous thing and (briefly) losing her trust and company hurt, and he's so very glad to have her back now (in more ways than one).

2012 LeoCasey HCs go go gooo!!

*gasp* Finally! My time has come!

Both boys are bisexual, but Leo was in huge denial in the beginning that he also likes boys while Casey was more open about it but doesn't make a big deal over it

While they were staying at April’s farmhouse and Leo was recovering from his leg injury, Casey noticed Raph was under a lot of stress from training Donnie, Mikey and April, trying to take care of everyone, taking the role of temporary leader, and also being a caregiver for Leo, so Casey volunteered to help him out by offering to watch over and take care of Leo so Raph could focus more on training the others. Raph accepted. This resulted in Casey and Leo spending a lot of time together at the farmhouse. Casey would keep Leo company while the others were off training: talking, joking around, playing video games, and even watching Spaceheroes with Leo. The two bonded and realizes they have a lot more in common than they thought, with the two bonding over being the oldest siblings and trying to do everything in their power to keep their younger sibling(s) safe and happy, feeling as if they are more of a parent to them than a sibling because dad is never around or is always busy. 

Leo began to develop a crush on Casey after a night of them chatting and Casey opens up to him about his personal family struggles and other problems. Leo saw another side of him and began to look at him differently. He’s not just some reckless goofball who hangs out with his hot tempered brother, he’s actually mature and just trying to find the positives in a difficult life. Leo admired that fact about Casey, and feelings began to spark. 

Casey was very oblivious to Leo’s feelings in the beginning. When he got close and personal to Leo he would begin to blush like a huge dork, Casey just thought he was making Leo uncomfortable. The oblivious loudmouth x the shy dork trope. 

Casey began to develop a crush on Leo also during the farmhouse and started wanting to spend more time with Leo when they returned back to New York. Eventually he opened up to Raph, asking him if Leo ever talks about him, Raph quickly figured out what was going on and told him that he should go for it and ask Leo out, telling him that Leo likes him too. Raph knew the whole time Leo and Casey had a thing going on. They aren’t very good at hiding their feelings. Raph knows them both so well that he figured it out quickly. 

Leo initiated their first kiss, he was trying to properly confess his feelings but he was tripping over his word. It wasn’t easy that Casey was giving him a charming smug smile that made him lose his train of thought, so knowing actions speak louder than words, Leo pulls Casey towards him and quickly kisses him. As he pulls away, Leo begins to panic and apologizes as Casey stood in shock from what happened. As Leo begins to stumble over his words again, apologize and trying to make up excuses, Casey smiles, and without a word spoken, lifts Leo’s chin and kisses him.

Their first date was Casey taking Leo to the hockey rink after closing to teach Leo how to skate (think of it like the skating date scene from Happy Gilmore) 

The two kept their relationship a secret from everyone and tried dating, but sadly Leo couldn’t go through with it, with Shredder still out there and Karai still missing, Leo was under too much stress to date. Casey understood and told Leo he would wait for him, the two agree to just be friends. They finally begin dating during season 5. 

Casey’s pet name for Leo is “Baby Blue” and Leo calls him his “Hockey Knight”

Casey’s family actually knew about his secret vigilante life and mutant friends for a long time, Casey being a scalie was the big surprise.

This is just an excuse to project chronic pain on Tsukasa. Originally considered just giving Saki a physical disability instead of illness, but idk it felt wrong? Like that would fundamentally change her experience by changing it.

So yeah, Tsukasa was born with a misshapen spine (based on spina bifida, except the part that you can tell someone has it from birth) that causes severe pain, especially in the back, along with weakness and lack of sensation in the legs and lower back area. Also when he was younger, before Physical therapy, his legs would sometimes give out on him

Before his legs stopped working for the first time, his parents didn’t take him seriously about the pain he was in, they weren’t being malicious just typical non-recognition from able bodied people. So he spent awhile thinking what he was going through was normal and kinda permanently internalized the idea that any pain that wasn’t entirely debilitating was just something to work through-

Of course once his condition was discovered, he spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital with the amount of surgeries he needed along with mapping plans for his future. E.x, treatment plans including projected support needs based off his current condition, what level of mobility aids would he need at all times based off his, well, mobility and of course what type and how much physical therapy he would need in the moment and moving forward.

While it ends with Tsukasa having the core strength of a god, PT (physical therapy) at the start was Hell. Since he had little to no strength at the start, even doing something as simple as leaning forward was incredibly painful. A combination of pain along with frustration of not being able to do incredibly basic movements is hard for anyone to deal with, let alone a child, so it’s really no surprise Tsukasa hated the PT and also tended to completely lose his chill during sessions- Honestly if young Tsukasa knew curse words he’d be a damn sailor!

(Side note anyone who says canon Tsukasa would be anything but strong obviously have never done stunt work or dance. Mans got that lean muscle, do not discount him because he’s a theater nerd and not a jock)

He still plays piano and wants to become an actor, his mom was teaching him piano before his disability was known and it was one of the few activities he enjoyed that he could still do reasonably well while not pushing himself. Except the whole posture part, he can’t sit up straight because of how his spine is bent, so he uses the piano itself to push himself upright, yes he’s very bad at playing softly.

Still he becomes quite skilled since he spends so much time playing and ends up bonding with saki over it. As she says, he would play with her for however long it took her to figure it out and whenever she was able to play the whole thing right, he’d smile at her so genuinely Saki believed that maybe for that little bit he’d forget about his pain. That’s what inspired her to not only learn piano as best she could, but also write music. So there’d always be a new piece to perfect and make her brother smile.

Of course since Saki goes to school normally, she has access to her piano a lot more and is more proficient at playing and making music by the time leo/needs story happens than in canon. Also she definitely plans to go pro, she wants to create music that makes you momentarily forget all the bad things in life and share it with everyone!

Tsukasas reason for wanting to be a star is the same as canon, except it’s about how the star made everyone, including himself, smile for real and made his family happy, washing their worries away. So he wants to be a star to make his family smile in genuine happiness around him, instead of strained and worried smiles.

When WxS story takes place, Tsukasa is not going to school and is instead enrolled in online classes. Partially to suite how often he needs to be in the hospital, but also because none of the nearby schools are particularly accessible- by this point Tsukasa has enough mobility to be able to walk without aids for short periods of time and otherwise mostly use crutches, although he does have a walker for bad days and also for holding stuff. But that’s on generally flat ground, having to walk up and down stairs in a school setting would be decidedly Bad.

Other small details: Wonderland Sekai is slightly changed, the floor is all clouds which are super soft and easy to walk on, and the gravity in the Sekai is noticeably lighter which makes walking a bit easier on someone who’s constantly weighing down on themselves because of spine problems.

Tsukasa still has memory issues, but it’s hard to see them as a real thing when it makes sense that days of doing the same things kinda just bleed together. They are still a problem, just harder to recognize.

Due to weakened sensations in his legs, Tsukasa has a lot of little scars on them from not being able to feel when he’s gotten injured.

All I’ll say about it is, the troupe do Not know about Tsukasa’s disability for a good bit of it and it will cause problems™️
