I just checked out the RWBY store and the remaining items literally cost between 1 to 5 USD, so I caved in to get the last T-Shirt as well. I literally paid more for the shipping than I paid for the items.

Can you ever have too many striped sweaters? I think not! Stripes are great in every season and suit my casual style perfectly!
I could and wear some form of this outfit every day. Straight leg, mid-rise jeans, a well made tee, a sweater thrown over my shoulders…just in case, and Gucci shoes! It feels good to be comfortable!
Yesterday was a day of errand running, but it was still a little cool and I didn't think just a tee shirt would keep me warm enough so I added this cute striped sweater from Zara, casually thrown over my shoulders. I got it last October when I was in Paris with my daughter (yes, I went into Zara in Paris) and I’ve worn it often! It’s thick and the quality is amazing!
The jeans…
I’m having such a time with jeans right now! There are so many styles, washes and rises to choose from and it’s confusing. I do wear the high waisted styles…they’re not my favorites but, luckily, mid and low rise jeans are making a comeback! When I don wear the high waisted styles, I usually pair them with a cropped blouse or tee so that I’m not having to tuck something into the waist of the jeans because it’s just too much fabric around my midsection and it’s uncomfortable to me. That’s been my best solution for high rise style jeans.
For my short waisted body type, a lower rise works much better and is more comfortable. I love to do a half tuck with my longer tees and leave blouses untucked on one side. It’s an updated and trendy way to wear a classic button up blouse.
The shoes…
Not long ago, I wrote about how I struggled with how to wear my Gucci loafers (also purchased in Paris) and when I’m wearing them with jeans, straight leg styles are the solution. These lug sole loafers aren’t for everyone, but if you’re looking for comfort they’re amazing and I’m sure I’ll be wearing them for years to come!
I hope you all have a great weekend! It’s going to be so pretty here and I’m looking forward to planting some flowers, taking Amos for long walks, having one of our last fires, playing basketball with my grandsons and doing a little cooking! I’ve got some really great recipes lined up for next week and I’ll have a few up on my Instagram stories over the weekend!
Thanks for reading and please don’t forget to leave a comment!

NCT’s Mark Lee on Dreams, Instagram Poetry, and Growing Up
Mark has a lot going on — but he’s making time for poetry, introspection, and, of course, the members of NCT Dream. - Vivien Wu
“I’ve been thinking about dreams a lot these days!” Mark Lee exclaims over Zoom from SM Entertainment’s Seoul headquarters.
The 21-year-old leader of NCT Dream is enthusiastic as he mulls over the meaning of dreams, his back against a wall of pink and yellow flowers assembled by his fellow NCT members. He’s wearing a simple, white tee, and when he gestures with his hands, you can catch glimpses of the friendship ring that all seven members of NCT Dream wear as a symbol of their bond.
“I actually feel like dreams hold a large portion of a life, and I’m not just talking about the subconscious dreams that we all have when we sleep,” he continues. “If you put it in a way where dreams are actually things that motivate us, and the drive that keeps us going, especially as a strongly driven person myself, I feel like… a guy with no dreams is like…” He looks up, thinking. “…A car with no engine. So, I think it’s as important as yourself. That’s how deep I go with dreams.”
His interest in dreams is fitting, considering that they are also the central, underlying concept to the lore behind NCT Dream’s parent group, NCT. They connect their three subunits, NCT 127, NCT Dream, and WayV, in a complex, Inception-inspired fictional universe where dreams are the only way they can find each other, and where upon uniting they can mix to form new subunits collectively referred to as NCT U. In practical terms, this has resulted in a 23-member mega-group that is multifaceted in every way — from their musical styles and visual aesthetics to their cultural backgrounds and spoken languages.

In practical terms, this has resulted in a 23-member mega-group that is multifaceted in every way — from their musical styles and visual aesthetics to their cultural backgrounds and spoken languages.
NCT Dream’s original teenage concept meant that members were supposed to “graduate” when they came of age, and as the oldest, Mark was the first to leave the group at the end of 2018. Having grown attached, however, fans were devastated at his departure; after a year of separation, SM announced that the graduation system would be scrapped and that he would rejoin the group. Their new album, Hot Sauce, is the first with Mark in over two years. As fellow member Haechan declared in an interview with Teen Vogue earlier this week, “Mark [is] very special. NCT Dream means Mark.”
But before the rapper led NCT Dream, and before he joined NCT U and NCT 127 and SuperM — the man is in high demand — Mark’s childhood dream was writing. He grew up in Toronto, and through doing school projects and essays quickly discovered that he had a natural way with words. Inspired by Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan, Harry Potter, and James Patterson, Mark dreamt of becoming an author, long before he was recruited by SM at a global audition in Canada in 2012. “When I was in school, I was always the kind of guy who would write more than expected, and that became a thing that clicked for me,” he says. “I was like, ‘Maybe it’s something that I naturally do?’ But then that kind of turned into rap writing too, so I guess they kind of clicked together.” It explains his prolific career as a lyricist; since debuting, he’s amassed over 30 songwriting credits across his various groups, contributing to songs as iconic as NCT U’s “Boss,” NCT 127’s “Cherry Bomb,” and NCT Dream’s “Chewing Gum.”
Even with such an extensive body of work, however, penning lyrics hasn’t satiated his appetite for literary expression. In an interview with Japanese magazine Men’s Non-No, he revealed that he still hopes one day to write a book, whether that be a novel, autobiography, or something more philosophical.
In the meantime, he’s taken to writing what are basically short poems on his Instagram, which he created just a few months ago. He’s gathered over 4.5 million followers since then, but having such a large audience hasn’t deterred him from being endearingly vulnerable with the way he writes. When I refer to them as poems, he laughs and looks embarrassed, but when I ask him to tell me the stories behind them, he’s enthusiastic again. They’re short, but offer brief glimpses into Mark the writer — sharp, inquisitive, and thoughtful. As pieces of literature, they’re a little rough around the edges, but the sincerity he’s known for shines through, illuminating the introspective, philosophical side that may not be so obvious in person.
His first poem, loosely titled “Late Night Scribbling,” put into words his musings about sleep, thoughts, feelings, and writing. It meanders from topic to topic, hovering between feelings of hope and hopelessness, before ending with a comically awkward “haha.”
“I actually wrote that by imagining how I wanted to organize my Instagram page,” he explains. “I was thinking of creating an Instagram, then I realized that, well, I’m not really a picture kind of guy, I’m not really a travelling kind of guy… I kind of studied who I am first, and I [asked myself], ‘What’s something that I can really portray in an intimate way?’ and it turned out to be writing.”
“I started to brainstorm what kind of topics I could write about, and then from there on, I started to write a little each and every night, and that turned into Late Night Scribbling,” he continues. “That kind of gave me courage to start Instagram in the first place, that piece of writing.”
Two weeks later, he followed it up with “Black Socks,” a whimsical ode to, well, black socks — complete with accompanying photos of him wearing said socks. Immediately, it feels more confident and cohesive than its predecessor. Using the neat and tidy look of black socks as a metaphor, he describes his own mindset for living life: “Pleasure from perfect alignment; That also goes for my ability to be parallel with my thoughts and actions; I try to live out what’s in my mind, and keep it consistent even when forgotten like a working habit.”
Comments on the posts praise his writing and encourage him to continue sharing these small pieces of himself. On the stage, Mark takes on a confident, larger-than-life persona, while in vlogs and spoken interviews, he’s a bubbly character full of laughter and boyish charm. What the poems show is that, beneath these outer appearances, there’s another layer of complexity that is yet to be fully explored, and it’s not surprising that fans want to know more.
His day job as a K-pop idol doesn’t allow a lot of time for hobbies, though, and he confesses to not having written much lately. Despite that, he’s determined to stay in the industry for as long as possible. “Longevity is something that I’ve always been aiming for,” he says. “I’m willing to do this for a long time, and that requires a lot of work. I’m willing to take that as a challenge and I’m trying to stay as long as I can, but with quality.”
That focus on quality informs his preparations for the upcoming promotions with NCT Dream. In both their fictional world and ours, NCT Dream are a central component of NCT by virtue of their unique focus on growth — the seven members were aged between 14 and 17 when the group first debuted in 2016. Fast-forward five years, and the members are now 19 to 21, having reached a milestone in January when the youngest, Jisung, finally became a legal adult in Korea. When asked if he feels like an adult yet, though, Mark gives an extremely relatable answer with zero hesitation.
“I still feel like I’m in middle school, I’m gonna be totally honest. I swear to God, I feel like I’m… All right, I’ll put it up — I feel like I’m in high school!” He laughs. “I even had this talk with Jisung, ‘cos he’s the latest that turned into an adult. He said that he still feels like he’s a student, he doesn’t feel like he’s 20 [19 in international age] right now.”
It’s been a long time since all seven Dream members — Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung — have released an album together, and as the first full-length album since their debut, the fan anticipation is palpably intense. Mark himself has mentioned in various vlogs how important he believes this comeback to be, and that conviction becomes obvious whenever he talks about it.
“We had a talk all together, the seven of us, without any cameras or anything. I brought all the guys together and we talked before the whole momentum started, and I said that I’m willing to put my everything on this one. Like, I always had, but I feel like… the whole universe, or like— ” He pauses, trying to figure out how to articulate himself, and his next line is the most emphatic of our whole conversation. “There are things that are out of our control, but we can see and feel when the pieces match together sometimes, and I feel like this specific moment, this particular album, kind of had those essential parts.”
He’s thinking about all of the context surrounding this comeback: the group’s coming of age, the reunion of all seven members, the scale of the album, the fact that Jisung has only just recovered from a leg injury that meant he couldn’t dance for months — even the fact that 2020 was, against all odds, the best year yet for NCT, with release after release bringing them unprecedented success and momentum.
“I felt that coming and I explained all of that [to the group],” he continues. “This whole period of time has a lot of meaning to it, and we’re not taking that for granted, we’re working hard.” With everything that’s happened, Hot Sauce is a historic moment for NCT Dream, and that’s been reflected in their numbers — the album clocked over 1.7 million pre-orders, obliterating their previous record of 500,000 for last year’s EP, Reload.
Their familial bond and the success that has come with it is the culmination of years spent living, working, and growing up together. The members have collectively missed out on key experiences that most teenagers might take for granted, distanced as they are from normal life, and the group also benefits from an unusually loose adherence to traditional Korean age hierarchy. The result is a brotherhood that goes beyond just being colleagues. “What we have is pretty intimate, and it’s also genuine,” Mark says.
About his role, he is matter of fact. “I’m by far the most easily approachable punching bag for the team. I am not… complaining…” He laughs. “But all jokes aside, I feel like my role for this team… Yes, I am the oldest and I am the leader but I’m also… In Korea, in the culture, age is very important, but we’ve come so far that all those borders kind of just vanished and we’re all pretty much friends, and I guess I’m just a friend of theirs too.”
It’s true that, despite being the leader, his friendly personality and endearingly awkward mannerisms mean that he commands about as much authority as a small puppy. Instead, much like a puppy, he is showered with love and affection (fellow member Chenle refers to Mark as his son and his actual puppy Daegal as Mark’s little sister), but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a dependable leader figure. The opposite is true — in Renjun’s words, Mark’s presence unites the group in a way that makes him irreplaceable.

And while this may be the fifth year since their debut, in the grand scheme of things, the members of NCT Dream are still very, very young — by most standards, they would still be considered to have their entire careers ahead of them. Growth has brought them here, but where does Mark think it will take them in the future?
“Growing just never stops for us, I can see us growing continuously, endlessly,” he replies. “What the future holds is something that we will never know, but we always do try to prepare during the present, and so with whatever time we have currently and with whatever album, or whatever stage, or whatever piece of music it may be, we’re willing to make sure that we have the next one coming too.”
A final thought. “I’m glad that we’re striving for that, ‘cos we started off as…” Mark shakes his head, “…as babies.”

Punk’d History, Vol. VIII: This Machine [blank] Fascists
It has the appearance of a worrisome pattern: any number of punk rock’s founding figures embraced the symbolics of Nazi Germany. Ron Asheton, an original and indispensable member of the Stooges, played a number of gigs wearing a red swastika armband, and liked to sport Iron Cross medals and a Luftwaffe-style leather jacket. Sid Vicious loved his bright scarlet, swastika-emblazoned tee shirt, and Siouxsie Sioux, during her tenure as the It-Girl of the Bromley Contingent, mixed her breast-baring, black leather bondage gear with a bunch of “Nazi chic.” And how many early Ramones songs (inevitably penned by Dee Dee) referenced Nazi gear, concepts and geography? “Blitzkrieg Bop,” “Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World,” “Commando,” “It’s a Long Way Back to Germany,” “All’s Quiet on the Eastern Front,” and so on—for sure, more than a few.
youtube
“Appearance” is the key term. Poor Sid lacked the sobriety and smarts to have much of a grasp of fascism as an ideology. Siouxsie was just taking the piss, and gleefully pissing off the mid-1970s British general public, for much of whom World War II was still a living memory. Asheton and Dee Dee? Both were sons of hyper-masculine military men. Asheton’s father was a collector of WWII artefacts, and the guitarist shared his father’s fascination. When the Stooges adopted an ethos and aesthetic hostile to the late-1960s prevailing Flower Power rock’n’roll subculture, the Nazi accoutrement seemed to him fitting signs of the band’s anger and alienation. Dee Dee hated his father, an abusive Army officer who married a German woman. Dee Dee spent some of his youth in post-war West Germany, in which Nazi symbols were highly charged with anxiety and vituperation. Casual veneration of Nazis was a convenient way to reject the triumphal ennobling of the Good War, and of the military men associated with its traditions. And (as Sid, Siouxsie and Asheton also noticed) it really bothered the squares.
None of that makes the superficial use of the swastika or phrases like “Nazi schatzi” any less offensive — it simply underscores that in the cases noted above, the offense was the thing. The politics weren’t even an afterthought, because the political itself had been dismissed as corrupt, boring or simply the native territory of the very people the punks were striking out against. If that’s where the relation between punk and fascism ceased, there wouldn’t be much more to write about.
youtube
The post-punk moment in England provided opportunities to rethink and restrategize the nascent détournement of Siouxsie’s fashionable provocations. Genesis P-Orridge and the rest of Throbbing Gristle were a brainy bunch, and their play with fascist signifiers was a good deal more complex. The band’s logo and their occasional appearance in gun-metal grey uniforms clearly alluded to Nazism, with its attendant, keen interests in occult symbols and High Modernist representational languages. TG’s visual gestures were also of a piece with an early band slogan: “Industrial music for industrial people.” Clearly “industrial people” can be read as a highly ironized coupling: the oppressed workers marching through the bowels of Metropolis were a sort of industrial people, reduced to the functionality of pure human capital. TG seemed to impose the same analysis on the middle-managers of Britain’s post-industrial economy, and their uncritical complicity in capital’s cruelties. But it’s also possible to argue that industrial people are industrious people; like TG, industrial people (middle managers, MPs) can get a lot of stuff done. They can produce things. They can make the trains run on time. And what sorts of cargo might those trains be carrying? What variety of conveyance delivered the naked “little Jewish girl” of “Zyklon B Zombies” to her fate?
To be clear: I don’t mean at all to suggest that TG was a fascist band. Like their punky contemporaries, TG traded in fascist iconography in a spirit of transgressive outrage, expressing their hot indignation with equally heated symbols. And other British post-punk acts flirted with fascist themes and images, ranging from ambiguous dalliance (Joy Division’s overt references to Yehiel De-Nur’s House of Dolls and to Rudolph Hess; and just what was the inspiration for Death in June’s band name?) to more assertive satire (see Current 93’s appealingly bonkers Swastikas for Noddy [LAYLAH Antirecords, 1988]). But a more problematic populist undercurrent in British punk persisted through the late 1970s. The dissolution of Sham 69—due in large part to the National Front’s attempts to appropriate the band’s working-class anger as a form of white pride—opened the way for a clutch of clueless, cynical or outright racist Oi! bands to attempt to impose themselves as the face of blue-collar English punk. And literally so: the Strength through Oi! compilation LP (Decca Records, 1981) featured notorious British Movement activist Nicky Crane on its cover. It didn’t help that the record’s title seemed to allude to the Nazis’ “Strength through Joy [Kraft durch Freude]” propaganda initiative.
Of course, it’s unfair to tar all Oi! bands with an indiscriminate brush. A few bands whose songs were opportunistically stuck onto Strength through Oi! by the dullards at Decca Records — Cock Sparrer and the excellent Infa Riot — tended leftward in their politics, and were anything but racists. But for a lot of the disaffected kids sucking down pints of Bass and singing in the Shed at Stamford Bridge, it wasn’t much of a leap from the punk pathetique of the Toy Dolls to Skrewdriver’s poisonous palaver.
In the States, a similarly complicated story can be recovered:
youtube
In numerous ways, hardcore intensified punk’s confrontational qualities, musically and aesthetically. The New York hardcore scene made a fetish of its inherent violence, which complemented the music’s sharpened impact. So it’s hard to know precisely what to make of the photo on the cover of Victim in Pain (Rat Cage Records, 1984). If inflicting violence was an essential element of belonging in the NYHC scene, with whom to identify: the Nazi with the pistol, or the abject Ukrainian Jewish man, on his knees and about to tumble into the mass grave?
Agnostic Front seemed to provide a measure of clarity on the record, which included the song “Fascist Attitudes.” The lyric uses “fascist” as a condemnatory term. But the behaviors the song engages as evidence of fascism are intra-scene acts of violence: “Why should you go around bashing one another? […] / Learning how to respect each other is a must / So why start a war of anger, danger among us?” That’s a rhetoric familiar to anyone who participated in early-1980s hardcore; calls for scene unity were ubiquitous, and the theme is obsessively addressed on Victim in Pain. But the signs of inclusivity most visibly celebrated on the NYHC records and show flyers of the period were a skinhead’s white, shaven pate; black leather, steel-toe boots; and heavily muscled biceps. Those signifiers clearly link to the awful cover image of Strength through Oi! The forms of identity recognized and concretized in the songs’ first-person inclusive pronouns have a clear referent.
Agnostic Front wasn’t the only NYHC band to refer to and engage World War Two-period fascism. Queens natives Dave Rubenstein and Paul Bakija met at Forest Hills High School—the same school at which John Cummings (Johnny) befriended Thomas Erdelyi (Tommy), laying the groundwork for the formation of the Ramones. Rubenstein and Bakija also took stage names (Dave Insurgent and Paul Cripple) and formed Reagan Youth. But unlike the Ramones, there was nothing tentative or ambivalent about Reagan Youth’s politics. Rubenstein’s parents, after all, were Holocaust survivors. The band’s name riffed on “Hitler Youth,” but specifically did so to draw associations between Reagan and Hitler, between American conservatism’s 1980s resurgence and the Nazi’s hateful, genocidal agenda. Songs like “New Aryans” and “I Hate Hate” accommodated no uncertainties.
Still, it’s interesting that Victim in Pain and Reagan Youth’s Youth Anthems for the New Order (R Radical Records, 1984) were released only months apart, by bands in the same scene, sometimes sharing bills at CBGBs’ famous matinees of the period. And while Reagan Youth toured with Dead Kennedys, it’s Agnostic Front’s “Fascist Attitudes” that’s closer in content to the most famous punk rock putdown of Nazis.

It’s odd what comes back around: Martin Hannett, whom Biafra playfully chides at the track’s very beginning, produced much of Joy Division’s music, moving the band away from its brittle early sound to the fulsome atmospheres of the Factory records, and to a wider listenership. “Nazi Punks Fuck Off” similarly addresses a formerly obscure, tight scene opening to a greater array of participants, some of whom were attracted solely to hardcore’s reputation for violence. Like “Fascist Attitudes,” the Dead Kennedys’ song itemizes fighting at shows as its chief complaint, and as a principal marker for “Nazi” behavior. Biafra’s lyric eventually gets around to somewhat more focused ideological critique: “You still think swastikas look cool / The real Nazis run your schools / They’re coaches, businessmen, and cops / In a real fourth Reich, you’ll be the first to go.” The kiss-off to punk’s vapid romance of the swastika (it “looks cool”) complements the speculative treatment of a “real fourth Reich.” Both operate at the level of abstraction. The casual, superficial relation to the symbol’s aesthetic assumes a sort of safety from the real, material consequences of its application. And the emergence of a fascist political regime is dangled as a possible future event. That speculative futurity undoes the “real” in “real Nazis.” The threat is ultimately a metaphorical construct. The Nazis are metaphorical “Nazis.”
Still, it’s the song’s chorus that resonates most powerfully. So much so that the song has found its way into other artworks.

Jeremy Saulnier’s Green Room (2015) is frequently identified as a horror film on streaming services. We could split hairs over that genre marker. The film gets quite graphically bloody, but there’s no psychotic slasher killer, no supernatural force at work. And cinematically, the film is a lot more interested in anxiety and dramatic tension than it is in inspiring revulsion or disgust. It terrifies, more than it horrifies. What’s especially compelling about the film (aside from Imogen Poots’ excellent performance, and Patrick Stewart’s menacing turn as charismatic fascist Darcy Banks) is its interest in embedding the viewer in a social context in which the Nazis are a lot less metaphorical, a lot more real. In Green Room, the kids in the punk band the Ain’t Rights are warned about the club they have agreed to play: “It’s mostly boots and braces down there.” And they understand the terms. What they can’t quite imagine is a room — a scene, a political Real — in which fascism is dominant. Their recognition of the stakes of the Real comes too late. The violence is already in motion. In that world, the Dead Kennedys song provides a nice slogan, but symbolic action alone is entirely inadequate.
OK, sure, Green Room is a fiction. Its violence is necessarily aestheticized, distorted and hyperbolized. But perhaps the film’s most urgent source of horror can be located in its plausible connections to the social realities of our material, contemporary conjuncture. You don’t have to dig very deep into the Web to find thousands of records made by white nationalist and neo-fascist-allied bands, many, many of which deploy stylistic chops identified with punk rock and hardcore. You can listen. You can buy. (And yeah, I’m not going to link to any of that miserable shit, because fuck them. If you do your own digging to see what’s what, be careful. It’s scary and upsetting in there.) It feels endless. And the virulent sentiments expressed on those records are echoed in institutional politics in the US and elsewhere: Steve King (and now Marjorie Taylor Greene, effectively angling for her seat in Congress), Nigel Farage, Alternative für Deutschland, elected leadership in Poland and Hungary. Explicit white supremacist music also has somewhat more carefully coded counterparts in much more visible media (the nightly monologuing on Fox News) and in very well-positioned, prominent policy makers (Stephen Miller, who’s on the record touting “great replacement” theory and is a big fan of The Camp of the Saints). It’s a complex, ideologically coherent network, working industriously to impose and install its hateful vision as the dominant political Real.
Sometimes it feels as if no progress at all has been made. Maybe we’re moving toward the reactionaries. Contrast Skokie in the late 1970s with Charlottesville in 2017. And now if the Neo-Nazis have licenses for their long guns, they can strut through American streets wearing them in the name of “law and order.” It’s even more disturbing that a subculture that wants to clothe itself in “revolution” and “radicalism” is so tightly in league with institutional politics. Say what you will about Siouxsie’s Nazi-fashion antics, no one suspected that her prancing echoed political activity, policy-making or messaging in Westminster.
So what’s a punk to do? It’s certain that a vigorously free society needs to preserve spaces in which unpopular speech can be uttered and exchanged. Punk should pride itself on defending those spaces. But speech that operates in conjunction with an ascendant political power and ideological agenda doesn’t need defense or energetic attempts to preserve its right to existence. In October of 2020, that speech (in this case, speeches being written by Miller, texts by folks who have spent time in Tucker Carlson’s writer’s room and songs by white supremacist hardcore bands) has become synonymous with political right itself.
So now more than ever, it’s important to be active in the public square, to stand up to the fascists and to say it, often and out loud:

finders keepers | mink + fee
@kidrebelmink:
The weather was sort of nice today, meaning there was no rain and the overhanging clouds didn’t seem to offer any rain for the rest of the day either. If you looked well enough, you might see some sunshine once in a while pull through the grey clouds. Meaning a training session outside could be welcomed by all, or at least Mink was looking forward to some chucks of wind brushing through their hair, pulled at the short strands, having the sweat dry up under the edgy cold of a January season. Nothing wrong with a little cold.
The trainer had them walk a couple of laps in order to heat up, and Mink had been feeling extremely feisty that morning, being called back a couple of times whenever they pushed through into a sprint. That wasn’t the goal of the exercise. It didn’t hold Mink back however, they felt a surge of energy pick up and had to act on it. Their whole body felt like it was bursting with energy, wanting to run, fight, jump, whatever the trainer had in store for them.
After ten laps, which Mink finished first, the trainer teamed them up based on quality, and told them to work on their offense and defense poses. That part of training seemed even harder to Mink, because poses meant not really attacking other people, nor going all out. It meant holding back. And they were getting extremely irritated by holding back. Didn’t help that their opponent was someone they really wanted to smash. The other, probably noticing how Mink was jumping around on their spot, taunted them whenever it was their turn to attack. Saying things like “boy” or “girl”, which Mink hated, and telling them that they hit like a “girl”, which in itself was a stupid taunt, but the fact that the person had the audacity to assume their gender was a hateful thing.
Mink eventually, thinking the trainer wasn’t watching, made their move on their opponent, coming out of nowhere after having placed themselves in a defensive position, to attack the other straight on. Bending their stance a little so the put the other off guard, making use of the other’s sudden open pose, and swinging a fist into the other’s belly. Watching with great enjoyment how the person doubled over and fell to the ground.
Not a smart move however, the trainer shouted at them from a distance and told them to take a time out, sit at the bleachers until the end of training. Fuck! Mink threw the trainer a middle finger when they weren’t looking, and fuming, they made their way to the stupid benches.
To their surprise, they weren’t the only person who had to sit there, or at least they figured as much. Some youngster with blonde hair had taken a seat on the bleachers as well, he wore a pretty cool jacket, with flowers in different colors. They recognized it as a jacket that they also owned that exact jacket.
Still fuming, Mink sat down a little away from the other, looking up, studying him momentarily. “That’s a freaking awesome jacket.” They said, forcing themself not to look down, because from the corner of their eye they could see their opponent looking up with a grin. There was a little suspicion in their voice, as they studied the other. “I have the same one, but I lost it a couple days ago.”
@felix-tee
From behind a set of oversized, Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses, Felix sat chewing rather flavourless bubble gum on the bleachers like some kind of high school dramedy cliché. With his legs neatly and tightly crossed, his propped up ankle shook in an absent but consistent rhythm: he was bored. Restless. But he was also smug.
He didn’t particularly want to be there—even back in grade school he’d had very little interest in watching or participating in the hype of team sports. In fact, the only thing that ever did put him in the stands a time or two had been when he’d either been there on the arm of a pretty and popular boy, who’d later try (try being the operative word) to get Felix out of his daks in the locker rooms, or because he’d simply wanted to soak in the view of jocks getting muddy and taking off their shirts at half time—that’s what they called it right? Half time? To be honest, if that was right, it was a lucky fucking guess. No matter the reason Felix had ever had to put him at one of those games, none of them had ever been for the sake of learning anything about the sport, or paying any kind of real attention.
But now he was smug, because he got to sit on the sidelines looking cute as fuck, if he did say so himself, and simply observe while everyone else was killing themselves over relays or circuits or... whatever the poor sods were doing. He sort of felt sorry for them. But not sorry enough to stop him from feeling a little triumphant that he was up here, smelling of tangy summer eau de parfume and they were down there smelling like... that. Of course, he couldn’t smell much at all from this vantage point other than salt water and seaweed carried up on the wind from the rocks below, but his nose crinkled just at the thought. He did, after all, have a very active and capable imagination.
But Cambie has specifically told him that until further notice, he wouldn’t have to participate, and as soon as she got approval through the ‘correct avenues’—whatever that meant—they’d be able start their one on one dance training. Honestly, Felix doesn’t like to show too much enthusiasm for anything that someone of authority is offering to him, because it sort of puts him at risk of getting lazy and simply going along with rules or expectations, instead of making a fuss to get exactly what wants and how he wants it—and even if it’s a delicate, passive-aggressive fuss, he’d always rather make at least something of one, because getting too complacent was dangerous. It could mean that his standards were lowering, and that was a very slippery slope to find oneself on. One minute you’re at the top of the social food chain, and the next you’re making friends with the rejects and the lunch lady, wearing—shiver—knock off brand hand-me-downs and letting yourself physically and hygienically go.
God, if he had any motivation at all to make even a single close friend (or fan) here, the leading one might strictly be so that he had someone to stab him in the throat if he ever let himself become one of those un-self-respecting bogans. Ugh, just... ew.
So he made an effort to keep himself and his eagerness for Cambie’s plan both respectable and in check. He showed her enough sweet, angelic appreciation to encourage her to follow through with the whole thing, but monitored just how grateful he was, because he didn’t want to wind up in a position where she was the one holding all the power. She was only meant to think she was.
Unfortunately, the truth of it was that he was already quite fond of Cambie. And he was genuindely very excited about the idea of dancing again. Like really dancing. With structure and a goal, and a purpose—and hell, a partner to do it with him. As self absorbed as he was, he had to admit it was more fun to share those kinds of things with other people—even if it was just so someone else was there to praise him and tell him what beautiful, impressive work he was doing. He knew that, of course, but that didn’t mean he didn’t like to also hear it confirmed.
But he was still waiting to hear from Cambie regarding setting up the dance sessions, and he didn’t really have too many friends to reach out to yet to keep his time filled, so for now he used the glaringly open block to sit perched in the stands watching everyone else suffer. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t enjoying it. But he found lying pretty easy, so—he’d be happy to tell you what you whatever you wanted to hear about his current mood, one way or another.
The cherry on the cake, however, was that he’d found this fabulous floral jacket. It was a bright print of cherry reds, sunshine yellows and lime greens—there was even a hit of vibrant fuchsias in the daring and delightful petal-like design. Frankly, it looked designer, but he couldn’t really tell one way or another because some total drongo had gone and ripped out the label. Ugh, whoever the past owner was, they were clearly a tragedy.
But it’d just been lying over the back of one of the sofas in Delma, and it fit him perfectly. It was just a touch too big, as most things were on Felix, naturally, but that was also the ideal fit for the style. He didn’t know who it had belonged to, but it didn’t have a name in it anywhere, and if the owner had just gone and left something that fetch just lying around, they clearly didn’t appreciate its value, much less deserve it for themselves. Finders were totally keepers, anyway, everybody knew that.
Besides, there wasn’t a chance in hell it looked as good on anyone here as it did on Felix. No offence to the Colony 22 population—there were at least a handful of pretty people worth taking long looks at around here—but he was Felix Turner. It wasn’t like anyone would expect them to compete with the likes of him.
The person who loped over to him then had been the little one causing trouble on the fields a few minutes ago. To be honest, Felix hadn’t been paying much attention to the kerfuffle because he’d been too busy staring at some fit, dark skinned boy running laps in the other direction (who’s brows, by the way, were totally slaying, like wow). But he looked to his new approaching company now, and he was glad he was wearing sunglasses because he could feel his expression running skeptical at first. This person looked.... dirty. And just a little too friendly, considering what he’d just half-witnessed on the field. It made Felix think this person was a little like a feral cat—unpredictable and possibly diseased.
Maybe it was too early to judge—but that had never stopped Felix before.
He blew a thin bubble with his gum. He’d probably been chewing it too long, because it was getting weak and a bit grainy, and the bubbles were barely holding any elasticity. It’d been pretty bad to start with, anyhow.
With the compliment and the appreciation of his jacket, he was fully prepared to preen, and semi-preparing to like this stranger just a fraction more—but then the words, ‘but I lost it a couple days ago.’
Something latched onto Felix’ Adam’s apple uncomfortably, and the little blond faerie of a creature was yet again grateful he was wearing sunnies. He swallowed, kept his tone even, and tried to inject it with just enough positivity to pull off flattered, if a little bored.
“Oh, thanks. It’s nice isn’t it? Well, clearly you have good taste.”
#sorry this is so long#it's actually sort of bc im struggling with fee's muse a little so i had to wander around in narrative to try to reconnect with him?#lol it kinda worked but now its hella long#no need to match at all though!#mink#para#paramink#finders keepers#reposting bc i wanted to tweak the title for ocd reasons lol

{How To Dress Similarly To Your Favorite Cartoon Characters Pt.2 (Using Five Examples!)}
Hello there!
My name is Arabella but you can call me Arry, if it’s easier. I don’t know about you but I basically grew up on cartoons. I watched Cartoon Network all day and I used to get so much inspiration from cartoon characters that probably followed me into my older years. Personality and fashion-wise. Have you ever wanted to dress similar to one of your favorite cartoon characters yet not wanting to look like a cosplay or costume? Well, you’ve come to the right gal because that is exactly what I am going to be helping you with but before I get onto the five examples, we must go over some basic knowledge. Fashion can say a lot about a character, especially in cartoons where the clothes rarely change. It has to be iconic yet true to the personality being demonstrated in some sense. Five things go into analyzing and copying a cartoon characters style: 1) Color Palette 2) Aesthetic 3) Overall Impression 4) Fashion Items 5) How It Shapes Their Personality? These are five things we are going to keep in mind during our five examples. Let’s invade this topic.
(Nazz)
Nazz from Ed Edd n’ Eddy is probably one of the easiest old cartoon characters to make modern. Especially since her style has come back into trend with layering. Now I didn't grow up with Ed Edd n’ Eddy because my mother was fearful that I would develop behavior similar to the boys. But whenever I did see images of it or short scenes, I loved Nazz’s fashion (next to Marie’s). Starting with the first thing to think about when recreating a style of any cartoon character, color palette. A color palette is quite important especially when it comes to cartoon characters because these colors can be forever associated with this character. Nazz’s color palette includes black, white, denim, red, and occasionally green. These colors are great because they can go great with each other and makes a strong color palette. Nazz’s aesthetic is a mixture between Girl Next Door and Tomboy. She has boyish elements that allows her to be ‘one of the boys’ yet she also has a fun, flirty girly side. The third thing to consider is the overall impression of their clothes to the world around them. Now this may seem odd but this is worth consideration because it depends on how you want to be taken. As people judge upon appearances and your clothes can say a lot about you. Nazz’s overall impression and how it makes people see her is that Nazz is seen as very attractive and everyone wants to hang out with her. She’s the female character that has a lot of friends and is overall popular and kind. She isn’t the stereotypical mean girl despite dressing nice and being friends with a lot of people. She breaks that stereotype and shows that you can be cool yet nice. The fourth thing to consider is fashion items, unless you are planning on copying Nazz’s style piece by piece. It is great to really observe it and take pieces of it that may fit into her character yet is good for everyday use and not a cosplay. Remember, it’s all about inspiration. With Nazz, I recommend for tops, basic plain color shirts, crop tops, ringer tees, cropped sweaters, and cami tops. For bottoms, high waisted shorts, basic jeans or ripped jeans, flared jeans, and pleated skirts. For shoes, sneakers like Vans or Converse. For accessories, a quirky pair of sunglasses. And last but not least, the fifth thing to consider is how does her clothes shape her personality? Nazz’s clothes shape her personality in a sense of how she wants to look good. Nazz is very particular on how she looks and despite being confident, is upset if she looks anything but good. Her appearance is very important to her. It shapes her personality in how she likes hanging out with boys more so over girls in the show and is seen as one of the boys due to how her clothes aren’t overly feminine. She’s a great beginner choice for people who want to try this out.
(Mandy)
Ah yes, the girl I aspired to be when I was younger and probably scared my mother some more. Mandy from Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. This is a fun character because her outfit… is completely different from her personality. She wears a pink flower dress, mary-janes and a headband. She looks like an innocent, girly girl but Mandy is evil. She’s a good type of evil but is still evil. Mandy’s color palette depends on where you want to take from it but I gathered white, black, pale pink, pale blue & pale yellow (counting the flower) and purple (her eyeshadow, at times). But if I was going to dress similarly, I would just do white, black and pale pink as the other colors are mere colors compared to those main three. Mandy doesn’t exactly have an aesthetic instead I guess she would be gothic with pink and a sort of doll-like quality. Mandy’s overall impression is that people mistake her for being sweet and innocent although her parents are terrified of her, everyone is mostly terrified of her. A grim reaper is terrified of her. Her clothes are deceiving but everyone knows that she is a very unhappy person due to her constant frown which was even in there inside the womb. Now onto the fun part, clothing choices. For jackets, I would suggest something like a Lazy Oaf jacket style (like their chore jackets) and oversized cardigans. For tops, mock necks, crop tops, layered shirts with a mock-neck under a shirt. Also pinafore dresses and a-line dresses. For bottoms, high-waisted shorts and pleated skirts. For shoes, mary-janes or sneakers. And for accessories, always have a headband on and maybe some skeleton or creepy accessories like a coffin backpack. Mandy’s clothing shapes her personality in a way for humor, she’s this scary person who can almost be a villain yet edges on being an anti-hero at most. It’s complete satire that she looks sweet and innocent with a gothic personality. So have fun with it because if anything, she shows that it’s not what is on the outside that counts after all. There’s a very creepy personality behind that color of pink.
(Sam Manson)
Another favorite female character of mine. Okay, let’s say… that you don’t like pink or want to be a secret Goth. There is plenty of gothic female characters to choose from. But one of my favorites has always been Sam Manson from Danny Phantom. I mean, I loved that show in general. And I loved Sam’s design, even though I wasn’t allowed to wear crop-tops til I turned 18. Her color palette is purple, green, black. You’ve noticed that cartoon characters always seem to have a simple color palette. And of course, Sam’s aesthetic is gothic, even though she could also be eco-goth since I remember an episode of her wanting to save the Earth and becoming a vegetarian. For fashion choices, hm. For jackets, I feel like she would wear hoodies, oversized black denim jackets, and long coats or even a varsity jacket. For tops, crop-tops, band tees, mock-necks, muscle tees, fishnet tops and sheer tops with something underneath. If she wore a dress, it would probably be black and an a-line, once again with a mock-neck. For bottoms, plaid skirts, checkered shirts, pleated skirts, ripped jeans with fishnets underneath, high-waisted shorts. For shoes, Doc Martens, sneakers, mary-janes and platforms. For accessories, knee-high socks, fishnets, tights, chokers, patches and enamel pins, belt, and a cool backpack. Sam’s overall impression is kind of hard to sum up in a small summary since Danny Phantom is so complex so I recommend watching the show to get a better idea but it’s never really brought up as a main point in her character how she dresses. She’s a great gothic character for inspiration though.
(Valhallen)
Okay now the first three characters and five characters of my last post were all girls. For those, who may not know Valhallen is a male character from “Justice Friends” which originated as a short from “Dexter’s Laboratory”, are you following me? Let’s say you’re a dude or you want to dress similar to a dude character. Valhallen is a great character to start with as he is a very simple character to modernized because you don’t even really have to go off his sense of style to dress similar to him. His color palette consists of black, yellow, and silver. Pretty simple. His aesthetic is kind of surfer mixed with metalhead mixed with Nordic god. He was created to be a parody of Thor. Which he succeeds greatly with. What is the overall impression of Valhallen? Well, he is quite a ladies man. He is definitely seen as the more attractive member. Valhallen doesn’t have much of an overall impression except the fact that the ladies love him from all realms and he is a fan favorite character. Onto the fun part! Fashion items. Now I chose Valhallen, because no offense but he does have a feminine touch on clothing that can easily be feminized. The dude wears a midriff. For jackets, denim jackets would suit, perhaps with patches of your favorite metal bands or enamel pins. For tops, crop-tops, midriffs, band tees, muscle tees, fishnet or sheer tops with something underneath, cropped camis. Don’t be afraid to show a lot of skin on your upper body. For bottoms, ripped jeans, basic jeans, high waisted shorts, bell bottoms. For shoes, knee high boots. For accessories, headpieces, fingerless gloves, studded jewelry, spiked belts. How does his clothes shape his personality? Well, he’s The Viking God of Rock. He has to look the part and this is basic metalhead fashion with God twists similar to Thor. He’s a goofy character who is hilariously rad and doesn’t take himself too seriously and his clothes show that. He’s less out there than Major Glory but can stand out more than The Infraggable Krunk. He’s obviously the more free-spirited one who isn’t afraid to be himself.
(Judy Jetson)
Here is what I like to call expert mode because unlike the other four who have easily modernized looks. Judy is from the future yet has a vintage twist. Her clothes are not something a typical teenager or young adult would wear in this day and age. I mean, someone who isn’t as weird as me. So you have to kind of reinvent her and make her suit your taste yet keep elements about her that are amazing and what makes her lovely. Judy’s color palette is pale pink, red (in some lighting), darker pink, white and black. If anyone asks you about a known fact of me… I love pink with red and pink with black. I also love pink on pink. And Judy Jetson has two of my favorite pinks where it’s not Barbie Pink or Too Pink. The overall impression of Judy, well she’s seen as the teenage girl of the future. She’s boy-crazy, fun, has exciting hobbies, can be quite moody and sassy. She loves dancing, attends high school and spends her evening listening to her favorite boy bands. Parts of Judy have travelled into the future as I related to her a lot when I was sixteen. And still do! She can get out of hand sometimes and I feel like all girls do, even into early adult years. I’ve had my moments where I have overreacted. Onto fashion items! Now, with Judy, as I said before, you are going to have to reimagine outfits for her. With jackets, I suggest fit and flare, perhaps long jackets, something to show off the figure however. With tops, crop-tops, mock necks, fitted tops, fun bodysuits, sheer tops, about anything that is cool. With bottoms, flared skirts or pleated skirts, mini skirts, high-waisted shorts, suspender pants, pants or jeans. For dresses, pinafores, figure hugging, a-line. For shoes, sneakers, flats, boots, platforms. A tip for seeming more futuristic is adding in color palette fitting metallics and holographic. For accessories, tights, knee high socks, circle purses, star shaped things, hair bows, headbands, funky sunglasses, vintage gloves, roller-skates if you skate. How does Judy’s clothes shape her personality? Well, her outfit is very youthful compared to her mother’s. She has more of a spark and quirky sense. Her clothes really show that she is bubbly and charismatic. She is out of this world. Something that I feel like girls should be more confident to try to be. To be unapologetically themselves. Just because her outfit isn’t exactly the future creators in the 60s were thinking of. It doesn’t mean that we can’t carry traits into this world.
That was how to dress similarly to your favorite cartoon characters, part two! If you want to see part one, click here! Feel free to follow for more posts like this. Also feel free to like and reblog if you enjoyed it! I may turn this into a series as they are always a lot of fun. Just be you and have fun with fashion! I post every Wednesday and Saturday so I will see you on Wednesday! Peace out!

Survey #104
Boyfren survey.
What’s his first name? I call him Don. I called him by a portion of his last name until recently; it just got to seeming weird to me to call him by that as a couple. Less personal. Does his surname begin with the same letter as yours? No. How old is he? 23, almost 24. How long have you been together? Three months. Do you have a casual or serious relationship? It's definitely not serious yet, but I think "casual" is too light a word. How long were you together before you told your parents about it? I told Mom like a few hours later considering she'd been pestering me to date him for like a year. How often do you see each other? Like once every week and half cries because he works constantly and is usually on the night shift so has to sleep during the day. Do you live together? No, I absolutely wouldn't after dating someone for three months. Do you have keys to each other’s places? I have literally never even been to his house lmao. What is the age gap between you? Is he older or younger than you? He's three years older. Have you met his parents? I'm meeting his mom next month, his dad passed away I think a year or so ago from a sudden heart problem. Has he met your parents? Yes. How many siblings does he have? He has an older sister, also named Ashley. Have you met his siblings? No, will next month. Has he met your siblings? Ashley and Nicole, yes. It's really cute because when Nicole was younger (we've known each other eight years), she got SO excited when he came over. She and her best friend love him. What’s his name in your phone? Just "Don." Have you talked about marriage? Fucking hell it's too early for that. Does he have any kids? Thank fuck no. Does he want kids? We've actually talked about this for a little bit because circumstances arose where it seemed appropriate, and he's on the fence, but seems to lean more towards no. He, like me, is selfish with his free time and a kid would obviously cause issues with that. Do you see a future with him? Again, too early to really determine that, but speaking from this current time, I can see us being together for a while, yeah. I mean he's dealt with me as a friend for eight years through all my bullshit, we're very similar people, and he's always been very supportive of me. How did you meet him? We were both in band in high school. Where did you go for your first date? Uhhhh... fuck. I don't know. We've "gone out" like twice because again, always working, but I c- OH YEAH we went bowling. Who was the first one to make a move? He's the one who asked me out, but I feel that he gave me hints like years before actually doing so. What’s his favorite pizza topping? I actually don't know if this is his actual favorite, but I know he loves jalapeno, like me. Does he cook? NOPE so if we do go anywhere, we're fucked :D Does he like to be big spoon or little spoon when you cuddle? I'm not comfortable doing that yet; we've never been in a bed together. But I'm telling you right now I'm too short compared to that guy to be big spoon holy shit. Is he a good kisser? Honestly, I just don't like kissing anymore. It's going to take a long time to be interested in that again. I was fine with it for a while (or rather, I just didn't tell him I wasn't), but I eventually told him I didn't want to yet. Does he make you happy? Always has for eight years. He's always been one of my closest friends. What’s his fashion style? He tends to wear band shirts or graphic tees like I do. Does he drive? If so, what sort of car? Yes, and I'm bad with cars... I want to say an impala? Does he have any piercings? No, I could never picture him with any. Is he more fun or serious? Definitely more fun. I have so rarely seen him serious. What does he do for a living? He's worked at Bridgestone for like ever. What’s his favorite thing to drink? I actually don't know. Does he live alone, with roommates or with parents? He lives alone. Does he have any pets? He has a vizsla named Chester that I think was technically his sister's. Is he your first boyfriend? No. What was the last movie you watched with him? "Coraline." Is he an active person? We both fuckin lazy. What’s his favorite candy? I have no clue. Have you ever met his best friend? Yes. What’s your favorite physical quality of his? His smile is super cute. What color is his hair? Black, which I apparently have a thing for considering 4/5 have had black hair lol. Do you argue with him often? We've never argued, even as friends. Where was the last place you went with him? The movies to see "IT." What kind of movies does he like to watch? I don't know, but I'm going to guess comedy. I know for sure though he doesn't like horror because he's a lil bitch. Have you celebrated either of your birthdays together? I'm sure he's been to my house for at least one of my birthdays, but we've never been together for his. Does he play any instruments? I doubt he could anymore. Do you have any mutual friends? We did in high school, but neither of us talk to them anymore. How often do you talk to him on the phone? I almost never talk to anyone on the phone, we usually talk on Facebook. Does he have a beard or is he clean-shaven? He goes between having stubble and shaving, but usually the latter. What was the last compliment he gave you? Uhhh I dunno. Does he dance? Please. Is he taller or shorter than you? He's no less than six inches taller than me, I think more. @_@ Has he ever bought you flowers? No. What color are his eyes? ... Blue, I think? I rarely look people in the eye because yeah shy. Has he ever had braces? I have no clue. Not since I've known him. When was the last time you kissed him? It's been a while after telling him I wasn't ready to kiss. Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day with him? We haven't experienced that yet. How long were you together before you said “I love you”? We haven't said that yet and I don't think I'm anywhere near ready. Do you know any of his exes? Nope. What’s his favorite cuisine? No clue. Was he born in the country he now lives in? Yes. Have you ever been long-distance with him? No. Does he ever wear any type of jewelry? No. What was the first present you got for him? Nothing yet, pretty hard when you don't have an income. I'll obviously get something for his birthday next month, though. What was the first present he got for you? Omg he randomly got me a carbuncle plushy because he showed me one and I flipped the fuck out about how cute it was and I was so mad he got me it because I hate when people buy things for me. @_@ Does he smoke? I wouldn't date him if he did. What TV shows is he watching at the moment? I know he loves Game of Thrones, dunno what else really. Have you ever visited him at work? No. Does he play video games? That's like his favorite thing to do. Is he straight? Yes. When is his birthday? October something fuck I forgot the day. I wanna say 18th? How long is his hair? Like the normal length for a dude. Does he have any tattoos? If so, which one is your favorite? No. I couldn't see him getting one, really. What is his favorite alcoholic beverage? He doesn't drink. Does he speak any languages other than English? He knows some Spanish. Is he college/university educated? He's in college now and I constantly fucking forget which one. It's online. How long have you known him? Eight years. Have you ever celebrated Christmas with him? Not yet. Has he ever been in a physical fight? I very highly doubt that. Did you go to the same high school as him? Yes.

I honestly kind of like bathing suit shopping? Usually I dont wear one much over the summer, just for Dominick’s parent’s pool, but this year we have alum weekend (i went to school on a river so being able to switch from point to north woods is a must) and an outdoor show on the beach so something cute for under my shorts would be nice. Still going strong on my Spending Freeze (even though ALL OF THE CLEARANCE is happening right now. But its okay! there will be more sales!) but that doesnt stop me from beginning window shopping or thinking about styles/prints :) its the one time of year I do fast fashion brands. I’m fickle with my summer styles and never reliably have the same taste in suits year after year, so something that I’ll only use a few times doesnt have to be the highest quality. I am a thrift store queen but I draw the line at anything that may have ever touched genitals lol! So finding something stylish, that looks good (I really dig my figure in general but I have Weird Boobs that most tops have a way of really highlighting, so I am grateful that halter styles are a forever classic!) and is under $20 can be taxing without taking Forever 21 or H&M into consideration.
This is all to say that the F21 website is Incredibly Overwhelming and I dont understand how anyone stays on long enough to actually make a damn purchase!!!! Its like the distilled the experience of being in one of the birck and mortars to a website, I’m surprised there isnt autoplay! While on my old timer clothes soapbox, whats the deal with high waist shorts having a max inseam of like half and inch?!?! I always botch my cutoffs (never again...not after those perfect vintage 505s that i found for a pittance and promptly ruined!), but I have thighs and a desire for my entire ass to be covered up in public (prudish, I know). But then you look for high wasit shorts with a 3-4″ inseam and theyre all those pleated chinos. Which are great if that’s what you’re into! but they arent for me!!
I guess it seems a little weird to talk about shopping/clothes on my health blog, but curbing shopping impulses and sale chasing is part of my holistic life change and I need a space to talk about it. This time of year is especially hard because there are so many great sales (80% off!!! BOGO Free Clearance!! Thats only the 2 sites Ive visted today!) abut I also really fall into the trap of shopping for an Imagined Self every spring-summer. I feel weird in super flowy dresses and pastels and yes delude myself into beliving THIS YEAR I will be the flower crown princess of summer time. But Im a hiker, and I work on a farm, and I need good breatheable footwear and layering tops more than I need a $5 wisp of fabric that will sit in my closet reminding me of who I am not. Like I do have some great floral and light colored (not really PASTEL) dresses that I wear for special ocassions and they are more than enough. So making a list and sticking to it will stave off temptation for things that I KNOW i dont need/want
Have I talked about our 3 day hike plan yet? Ill make a seperate post for that, but there are some new things I need to get for it as well.
So here is my summer shopping list (first draft). After I go through and try on all of my warm weather clothes I’ll have a better idea of quantity:
2 pair hiking shorts. Good quality like Columbia or Padagonia, with good seams, waterproof, and POCKETS.
Teva sandals. I lent my pair to someone the other summer and never got em back and I really missed them this past year.
Lightweight, breathable trail boots
BRALETTES!!!!! (3-5) Padded wire free bras in all sorts of colors, patterns, strap style, etc! I love basic tee shirts and simple outfits, but always spruce it up with a good strong accessory and I think they look so cute under tissue tees and loose tanks. Now that they make em for the over C crowd I’v been super into them as work bras. (I am a 34D so I know that Im not exactly Busty but those seamless things free people makes cannot adequately contain my thunder)
1 pair Linen pants. They come around every year, every year Im like “those looks comfy but idk if I think they look good to me” and I decided I dont care! I like going on long walks in the middle of work if its a slow day, or afterward, so something that I can wear in the office and then be comfortable in Baltimore humid-heat would be aweosme. If I cant find any I like, I’m open to a good pair of soft pants.
A good casual cap. I have some great straw and floppy hats, but I need either a light beanie or a ball cap
2-3 pair comfortable shorts that fit me really well and I dont always have to pull down at the crotch!!!
Okay thats a lot! if you read this far thanks :) What’s on your summer shopping list?

Women’s Neutral Outfits– Neutrals play the role of backbone in any functional wardrobe. Charcoal, taupe, grey, icy pink, peach, navy blue, beige, khaki coral, cognac and salmon. Don’t you think these colors are pleasant to eyes and relaxing enough to see when you are tired?

Everything You Need To Know About Wearing Neutrals
Buy less, chose well. Make it Last. Quality, not Quantity. Neutrals! You can create endless outfits with minimum pieces. We know that neutrals are building blocks of anyone’s wardrobe and they either help you create a fashion statement or just become a total disaster and you surely don’t want any massive destruction. So here is the complete guide on how to pair up perfect neutral with anything for any occasion.
know the color palate
know the undertones and complementary colors
know your skin tone.
don’t forget color coordination
know the choice of correct accessories
avoid getting dull
Understanding Your Skin Tone And Hair Color
Wearing neutral is becoming our new favorite. Want to wear neutral without looking dull, boring or sick? Here is what you need to know first! Figure out your skin tone and hair color in order to match the perfect neutral and look effortlessly beautiful and graceful. People with cool skin tone really look good in neutrals like pink, blue and peach as it helps their complexion not to look pale. If you have a medium skin tone brown, grey, khaki and navy are definitely your colors. If you have dark skin and want to ace neutrals go with white, black, dark brown or silver. This is the first basic thing and we don’t want you to fail in the very beginning.
Moreover dressing according to your hair color is also a tremendous idea. If you have platinum, blonde, red, or gold hair the best fit will be to go with pastel shades and jewel tones. Wearing olive, mustard or blue will be a really great choice if you have golden, caramel, ash brown or dark brown hair. And if you have jet black, espresso or honey blonde hair the best idea is to dress up in white or ruby.
↓ 15 – Building A Neutral Capsule Wardrobe
In the building of a basic wardrobe, we can not go wrong if we strive for simplicity and perfect fitting. Just in case you are on your way to creating a neutral capsule wardrobe you need to get some plaid shirts in all neutral colors. They can be used as your base for every outfit. Get yourself some wide leg pants, straight pant, trousers, and jeans. Moreover get blazers, sweaters, long coats and dusters in all basic light and dark shades of neutrals. A few neutral footwears in black, white and skin. And if you are a skirt person get some of them and pair them up with anything in your neutral wardrobe and create your own style. And your wardrobe will be forever incomplete without belts, bags, purses, and of course jewelry. And to further help you out, here are 18 Cutest Outfits with Camel Coat.
Do well, live well & dress really well.
↓ 14 – Wearing All Neutrals
I have always believed that fashion was not only to make women more beautiful but also to reassure them, give them confidence. And the more confident you are in what you are wearing, the better you look. We often think that wearing all neutral is really a boring choice but this is absolutely wrong! Going all neutral is so decent and elegant. You can go on wearing a neutral jumpsuit, shirt with your favorite pants or a long maxi. Any color choice can be great if you are planning on wearing an all neutral. White, black, grey whatever you like! You can add the dark accessories, bold color shoes and dark lips to complete your look. This can be the best idea for any age group.
↓ 13 – Monochromatic Style
Ladies, Make it simple, but significant. Wearing neutral is trending a lot. For the last few years, we are encountering many fashion changes and we’ve noticed that people have started to prefer neutral over dark and bright shades. The biggest plus point is that you can create a versatile wardrobe with just a few pieces. Wear neutral with an undertone. Make your one piece of a lighter shade and the other of a darker shade having the same base. To enhance your look you can add a belt to your dress or use any other accessory of your choice. You can go for monochromatic outfits in any shade of your choice like beige, cream, camel or grey and remember, this is one of the fashion blogger’s most recommended way of making a simple outfit look like its way more expensive, making it perfect for fancy dinners or meetings.
↓ 12 – Neutral With A Tint Of Texture
Keep on adding texture. The more the texture the better. Plain neutral might not be your favorite thing to do. Why not add some texture in any piece? It will brighten up your look. You can wear neutral textured sweaters, pants, hoods, scarfs. The best option is to add at least one textured piece in your complete outfit. It will prevent your outfit from getting boring. If you are planning monochrome tint of texture will be the perfect fit. It will be all voguish and chic.
And if you’re bold enough, you can always go with an oversized furry sweater.
And plaid colors, of course, are a timeless addition for your wardrobe:
↓ 11 – Neutral With A Bold Pop Of Colours
Time to add bold colors to neutral to create a completely new style statement. Who says you can’t wear neutral with popping colors. Get yourself some great bold pieces and match them with your neutral capsule. Any season can be a great choice for bold popping colors with neutral. If you don’t want much of bold color in your outfit you can go on wearing a fluffy scarf. Accent colors like cognac, coral and berry are usually considered favorite.

Neutral footwears are a must have! You must have every sort of neutral, from flats to heels and from boots to sneakers. White, black and skin are three basic colors that will match with any dress that you are planning to wear, be it a neutral dress or any other dress. Neutral footwears can be rocked on any event and any time whether it’s a day time function or a nighttime function. It doesn’t even matter if it’s a formal or a casual occasional. Make sure the accessories you use compliments your outfit really well because the right choice can enhance your whole appearance and the wrong one can ruin it all for you.
