Headcanon - Bruce Wayne
The Code
Batmanâs no-kill code is well known â and occasionally scoffed at â among the cape-and-cowl brigade. It is an ideal he strives to live by, and one he encourages â and usually expects â others to hold to, particularly those he trained and those he actively works with. He holds to this code for several reasons, among them being:
he does occasionally require the assistance of the GCPD, and if he â as a vigilante and thus technically a criminal himself â actively kills in the line of duty he will lose any and all goodwill he has earned from them
he does not want to stoop to the methods of his enemies. There is, on occasion, only a very fine line that separates the Bat from those he fights; not killing is a part of that.
Most, if not all, of the martial disciplines he has studied and mastered often come with cultural philosophies regarding the sanctity of life. To betray those philosophies would be to stain the legacies his masters left him.
If his hands become stained with blood, what makes him any better than the man who gunned down his parents in that alley?
That said, there is a well-known book in which is written âlet he who is without sin cast the first stoneâ. For Bruce to demand no killing, ever, for any reason, would be the height of hypocrisy; he has taken life in the past, though seldom willingly and always in self-defense. [for canonical evidence of this, see this post by The Real Batman Chronology Project] He is well aware of this, and aware that there are times when his code may well cause more harm than it avoids; after all, Bruce himself will freely admit â and has admitted âthat the world would indeed be a better place if the Joker was dead.
Killing is, and always will be, a hard line for Bruce. He knows how easy it would be for him to become a killer, how simple. How all it would take for him to become the villains he fights is to allow himself to pull the proverbial trigger on the basis of helping, of trying to do good and removing major threats like the Joker or other shown-to-be-irredeemable villains from the world for good. The road to hell, as they say, is paved with good intentions.
Nowhere has he seen this most clearly than in the fall of Hal Jordan in the wake of Coast Cityâs destruction. Watching a man Bruce had come to respect and trust â and even, though he might never admit it, to see as a better man than him â become something like Parallax, willing to tear the entire universe apart in the name of trying to fix things, was a sobering experience, and pushed Bruce to hold even tighter to his code and demand others do the same.
Even so, as idealistic as Bruce can be at times, he is nothing if not a realist. In his line of work, in the kind of battles he fights, there will be death. Itâs unavoidable; no matter what he does people will die, and if it comes down to the choice between his life and his opponentâs Bruce will choose himself. He has to; itâs pure instinct. He can, will, and does try to avoid that choice as much as possible, tries to mitigate the damage and prevent death with all the skill and power he has, but, well.
Sometimes even the Batman canât avoid lethal force in self defense.
It will always â always â be a last resort, when literally all other options have been exhausted, and it will never â ever â be in cold blood. It may simply be â and often is â a mere chance of fate, the luck of being the one on top when two men fall off a roof in mid-grapple.
Because of this, he will allow certain compromises, if one can call them that: those who work with him, while actively working with him, are expected to maintain and uphold his no-kill code; likewise, any hero or vigilante who wants to work in Gotham City is also expected to do so. Outside of his city, and when not actively on a team-up? Heâll expect them to try, but will be less exacting about the degree of success. In either case, a death during a mission is not necessarily a deal-breaker; self defense is a thing, and while Bruce holds himself to extremely strict standards he can be surprisingly lenient with others even on hard-line matters such as this...so long as the killing was not done with active intent or malice aforethought.
Straight-up murder someone, though, and you best pray he never finds out. No matter who they are.

Link to help Palestine and other resources! đ”đž
[Plain text: Links to help Palestine and other resources! (palestine flag). End plain text.]
[Image description: gray toned digital comic of Ace Attorney characters Franziska von Karma and Miles Edgeworth.
Page one: Franziska has her right arm in a sling due to being shot. She is quickly walking with an angry expression. She has a memory of when Miles and her were kids. She is giving Miles her cat doll and Miles is flustered, embarrassed. Manfred is smiling fondly behind them. Then she remembers studying intensely and being frustrated when she didnât meet her own standards. Text throughout the page: âNothing I did ever mattered. Nothing ever matteredâŠ! Nothing⊠Nothing!!â Miles calls out the Franziska and Franziskaâs face contorts with anger. Miles: âWhere are you going⊠Franziska?â
Page two: Franziska turns toward Miles and says, âHow did you know I was hereâŠ?â Miles looks worried. They start talking to each other, but there are no text. Franziska is thinking, âYouâŠ! How dare you show your face to me?!â
Page three: Memories of Franziska being left behind are shown. First, Miles is nine years old and covering his eyes, crying. Heâs walking ahead of Franziska while she tries to catch up to him. She reaches her left arm to him. Second, Miles is twenty years old and Manfred is walking next to him with a hand on Milesâ shoulder. Miles is frowning and Manfred is smiling. Franziska is thirteen and she is left behind in disbelief. There is a big split in the middle of the page, separating Franziska from them. Text in the split represents Franziskaâs thoughts: âAll youâve ever done was leave me behind⊠Donât act like you care now! Iâve always hated you!â
Page four: Franziska is back to being depicted as the present Franziska. Now she is standing in the middle of darkness alone. Franziska: âI canât change who I am. I canât throw away everything Iâve been until today.â Miles responds, shocking Franziska, âI believe you can. Today, you chased after me, after Iâve left you behind all these years.â Franziska looks up at him with wide eyes, but still skeptical.
Page five: The page is in color. Miles and Franziska are facing each other. Miles: âAnd thatâs why weâre standing here now, side by side.â Franziska: ââŠ!â
Page six: The page is gray toned. Miles looks at Franziska with a determined look. Miles: âBut I have no intention of stopping. If you say you are going to quit your walk down the prosecutorâs path⊠Then this is where we part ways, Franziska von Karma.â Franziska is listening, dumbfounded.
Page seven: Franziska looks down, clenching her jaw. Franziska is facing away from viewers and Miles is facing her. Franziska: âI⊠IâŠâ
Page eight: Page is in color. Franziska is facing the viewer and she is crying. Franziska: âI am Franziska Von Karma. Donât think Iâm going to walk in your shadow foreverâŠâ
Page nine: Page is in color. Franziska loses her eyes, still crying and facing Miles. Franziska: âOur battle⊠Begins now⊠So you had better prepare yourself, Miles Edgeworth!â They are both facing away from the viewers, walking together toward the future. Franziska is wiping her eyes with her left arm.
Page ten: Page is gray toned. A memory of Franziska when she is two years old and Miles is nine. Miles is crying and walking ahead of Franziska. She is reaching out to him, but she is left behind. She starts crying by herself. A hand is extended towards her and she looks at it, surprised. Franziska becomes happy that Miles came back for her and she holds his hands, smiling. Text: âThank you for being hereâŠâ End description.]
The scene that made me cry đ„Č I have so many thoughts about itâ đđ»ââïžđđ»ââïžđđ»ââïž
HC (TW// suicidal ideation): I love that they added this scene to show how Franziska was also going through it, too. She was also hurt by what Manfred did and the pressure of the âvon Karma nameâ. Sheâs literally a teenager going through all of this bs. I also loved that Miles related her to Adrian because YES. The similarities between Adrian, Franziska, and also Miles throughout the case- they were all dependent on their mentor and tried to act âstrongâ to cope with their self perceived weaknesses/failures. I personally think Miles was also suicidal and that Franziska was going down that same path. Her throwing away her whip is a hint at that HC. Her whip represents her strength and being a prosecutor- AKA her life, since thatâs all her and Miles lived for at this point. Unlike Miles tho, Franziska had someone there to stop her and help her before she went down that path. I also like to think that because they were so caught up in their pain, they felt alone when they had each other the whole time. I donât blame them cuz Manfred made it so they were only âworthyâ if they were âgeniusesâ like he is. They put being the best prosecutor over EVERYTHING else. Thatâs going to mess anyone up, especially children who just wanted their dad to love them. AHHH I LOVE THEM đđđ
I took out so much dialogue cuz it was already getting too long. I think the Adrian line could make for itâs own comic đ„ș (I love that they directly relate them so much SKLKJGKđ)

The doctor's diary.
Pairing: sylus x female reader
Genre: Dark shit going on. Including smut. Please read the content warning.
Word count: 4000+ words.
Content warning: mdni, explicit sexual content (but its chill for now), spoiler warning, mention of human experimentation, cult activities, my own twisted thoughts and theories are literally making this way darker than LADS already is. An oc of mine will appear more often in the next chapters, hate him guys, he is not a good guy. English is not my first language sorry for any mistakes.
Note: This chapter ended up longer than I expected somehow. And it is the first one of a three chapter fanfiction. I tend to write nasty stuff, sex wise but also everything else wise so please be prepared for anything literally. The character Castiel that you will meet in this chapter is my own oc that I made up specially for the LADS universe. I hope you will enjoy to hate him.
Chapter 1:
âYou want me to go in the N109 zone ? I thought we werenât allowed to go th-âÂ
âWe are aware you have been going back and forth between Linkon city and the N109 Zone.âÂ
You pinched your lips at the words coming from Jennaâs mouth, your hand resting on your hunterâs watch. The times you forgot to turn off your watch comes back to light one by one in your mind. Brushing it off everytime you thought that the HQ wouldn't have the time to check on your status. Her arms were still crossed over her chest as she looked at you straight in the face with her dark gray eyes. You felt like a kid underneath this disappointed glare. You opened your lips to say something, to defend yourself but she raised her hand to stop you from doing so.Â
âHowever, you have mainly been doing this outside your working hours. So it is your private life, and you may keep it a secret if you wish. But since you have been going there multiple times, we figured you might be aware of what is going on there better than we do.â She sighed. You guessed that she wasn't the one behind this idea. Maybe some higher ups that you never had the opportunity to meet.
âSo this is why we thought you might be the best suited agent for this mission.â
âOh uhm⊠Thank you for entrusting me.âÂ
âDespite this little disagreement, I am aware that you are one of our best agents. However if you think you might need help, you can still ask Xavier to accompany you. Although he has been quite busy lately.â
âNo no no ! Do not bother Xavier for this. I am more than capable of handling missions on my own. As for the mission⊠Can I ask you what is it that I am meant to do ?âÂ
âOf course. I wouldnât let you go into the Lionsâ den without information.â She said as she slid her hand on her desk, taking a handful of documents stored inside a pocket and handing them to you. âWe need you to participate in an auction for charity.â
âFor charityâŠâ you mumbled. You never thought you would see the day of a charity auction being held in the a zone so⊠uncharitable. You start looking through the papers in your hand, brows furrowed in confusion.
âWe are as surprised as you look. As nice as the thoughts around this event are, we are particularly interested in one of the prizes that we wish you would purchase for us.â
Your eyes land on the auction picture of a diary, its cover is made of leather and the pages look old, teared up for some of them. âA diary ?â
âThis diary seemingly belonged to one of the most wanted people of our organization. A doctor who previously worked here, in Linkon city, and got too deep in his interest for protocores and their links with peopleâs evol.âÂ
âHe experimented on humansâŠâ you mumbled as you read the notes next to the picture that the intel team had written for you. "On children..."
âHe indeed did. And we would like to prevent this diary from falling into the wrong hands. This is where your part comes in. Buying this diary away from that zone.â
You nodded as you guessed the objective of your mission long before she started explaining the reason why they would go fetch that book in the first place. Plus, that diary might bring you answers you are seeking about yourself. And as you remember your partner's jewel like gaze, about Sylus too. You then raised yours towards Jenna, closing the file between your hands and straightening your back.Â
âIf you will allow me. Iâm going to do the best I can to fulfill this mission.âÂ
âI know you will. The auction is in three days. I hope it gives you enough time to gather any belongings and travel to a safe place in the N109 zone⊠If such a place exists.âÂ
âDo not worry about me. I will be safe.â
You smile as Jenna raises her hand slowly with a peaceful expression as she dismisses you from her office. You exit the room, slowly closing the door behind you before walking to your desk, gathering your laptop and phone on the furniture. You then put the file inside your bag as you were already leaving the building. You would take the time to analyze everything once you were safely in the N109 Zone.
Phone in hand you immediately texted Xavier to let him know that you were leaving for a mission in the outskirts of your beloved city. As your thumbs were patting the screen of your phone, it suddenly started to vibrate. Soon enough the icon of Sylus appeared on your phone, a silly picture of him you took when he dozed off while watching a musical a few weeks prior. You frowned at the VERY convenient timing that he always had and picked up, raising your phone to your ear.Â
âYes ?â
âThe twins are going to pick you up at 5 this afternoon. Will you have enough time to be prepared before then?âÂ
âDonât tell me you hacked Jennaâs computer again. How many times do I have to tell you to not do that?â You frowned, faking or maybe wanting to be angry about that breach of your private life once again.
âThere is no need to get angry at me. Be angry at the twins all you want though. They are the ones who insisted on checking up on you while I was away.âÂ
âHow do they even know how to hack-â you stopped in your tracks as you heard your voice the sound of a bike motor in the background of the call. âAre you calling me while driving ?â
âNow this is a reason you can get mad at me for.â he chuckles as you let out a frustrated sound. âDo not worry, sweetie, I have my helmet on. Just checking on you through earbuds.âÂ
âUnsafe still. Your attention should be fully on the road.â you finally started walking towards the road that leads to your apartment, going through the usual route that takes you near along a river. âI thought you said you would be the one picking me up after Luke nearly got us in a car crash last time.âÂ
âIâm sorry to disappoint you, sweetie. But I do have some work meetings that need to be attended to." After a moment of quiet, he continued. âI trust Kieran will be the one driving you three back at home. I will be back before dinner.âÂ
âFine. Be careful on your way to your meet up⊠I will see you later.â you could hear a chuckle, and the picture of Sylusâ grin appeared in your mind. Before he could answer, you hung up.Â
You sighed as you crossed the street, pushing the door of your building entrance after entering the password on the doorâs pad. Slowly you slid the phone inside your bag, totally forgetting about warning your colleague, and your friends, of the mission that will probably wonât let you have time for chit chat. Once you are inside your place, you quickly pull out a bag from the closet in the entrance, walking towards your bedroom to pack your essentials for the next few days.Â
An hour flew by without you realizing it before your phone rang. Luke. As you picked up you hear his cheerful voice coming from outside your building, you walked towards your opened window staring down.Â
âMiss ! Your carriage is waiting for you !â the masked man yells waving at you from below, catching glances from other people passing by.Â
âGet inside the car ! Canât you see people are staring at you Luke ?â you frowned shooing him away with your hand.Â
âHeeeh. Iâm hurt ! Are you embarrassed by me perhaps ?â You wondered if Sylus teasing was coming from spending too much time with them or the other way round.Â
You frowned not wanting to let your mind wander at that thought, hanging up and closing the window before picking your bag on your bed and leaving your apartment. Once downstairs you were greeted with no one but the black car with tinted windows that was just in front of the house, without giving it much thoughts you walked to the back of the car and climbed inside.Â
After exchanging proper greetings with the twins, and a short trip from Linkon city to the twinsâ boss base.Â
It was night time now and you were settled down in one of Sylus couch in his apartments. You were going through the file once more, eyeing the clock in front of you from time to time. The meal was soon to be put down in the living room and you were definitely imagining eating alone at this rate. You sighed as you let your head roll on one of the sides of the couch, closing your eyes as you let yourself drift to the sound of the gramophone playing the music you put on earlier.Â
âAre you asleep ?â a whisper came above the sound of the music as a finger brushed against your cheek.Â
Your eyes opened and you looked up to the figure towering over you. Sylus gazed at you as he was leaning with one hand on the couch watching you slowly wake up from your nap. You slowly straight up, your files sliding from your chest and before you could react, Sylus caught it and put it down on the table next to you.
âMmm no.âÂ
âSure you werenât.â he smiled as he sat on the carpet next to the couch. âDonât move.âÂ
âBut the dinnerâŠâ you mumbled still drowsy.Â
âDinner is cold by now. I was late and you fell asleep. We are in no hurry anymore.â he says as he takes off his jacket, putting it down on the chair behind him, soon followed by his gloves. You sighed knowing that the man next you wouldn't budge.Â
âHow did your meeting go ?â you asked as you traced every of his movements with your gaze.Â
âProductive. But a waste of time at the same time. We wasted 2 hours waiting for someone who never came. I honestly thought I was going to come back really early.âÂ
âWould have been betterâŠâ you muttered.
Sylus' head turned to look at you with that same grin of his when he catches you being off guard. âMissing me I see.âÂ
âWhatever.âÂ
âI missed you too, sweetie.â he muttered as his face was now a few inches away from your face. And as always Sylus was the one to close that distance, his teeth started nibbling gently on your lower lip as he kissed you. His right hand comes to brush a strand of hair away from your face. "I missed you a lot."
There was always this conflict inside of you when you felt the lips of Sylus on yours. A shyness that you wished you didnât have, pushing you to turn your face away. However the drumming of your heart everytime his lips were on yours made you feel safe. Safe and cared for. The man suddenly started pushing his tongue against your lips, deepening the kiss drawing a sound from you in a sigh.Â
âKnowing that you were waiting for me here. Probably lying down on that bed or on that couchâŠâ he muttered as he kissed your lips once again then your cheek and the back of your ear. âI wished I could have just left to join you here quicker.â
âYou are⊠so dirty Sylus.â you whispered as you felt his hand slide on your shirt to start unbuttoning it. When Sylus admitted his excitement for you it always made you shiver. Not that it was rare for him to be so blunt. But being wanted and knowing that he was thinking of you that way, in places where he shouldnât. God, he was the devil in person and he loved playing with his favorite person.Â
âIf you want to blame me for the tension rising in this room. Feel free to do soâŠâ he said, lips leaving a trailing of kisses from your neck towards your chest. âI would enjoy that.âÂ
Soon his lips were not the only thing on your skin, his tongue traveled against you with wet kisses. Teeth sometimes nibble on you, trying to mark you as his. However he knew better than to do that or he would have been met with a warning look. Instead his hand slides away the remaining of your top clothes, revealing your skin to his red eyes ravishing each corner of your body, everytime.Â
âYour skin is covered in goosebumps. Are you getting worked up sweetie ?â he says smiling, his lips resting against your chest. A thumb sliding against one of your nipples. âI bet that if I slide my hand in your pants, I might find it dripping with excitement.âÂ
âYou are too sure of yourself.â you said trying to keep your voice steady as his lips brushed against your other nipple.Â
A low chuckle vibrates through his body at your answer. âAlways so feisty, kitten.â he murmured, pinching with two of his fingers the nipple he had in his hand.Â
âThen⊠Shall we take a look ?âÂ
As soon as the words left his mouth, you closed your legs, preventing his hand from sliding under your pants and between your thighs. His hand stopped mid-way, resting against your lower body. He slowly quirked up his face, arching a brow with a smile.Â
âGetting shy ?â he asks, fingers fondling with the zipper of your pants. He soon pulled it down. âYou know I donât particularly enjoy you playing shy. Iâd rather have my feisty kitten biting and fighting me than hiding away.âÂ
Asshole you thought.Â
âShould I take out the ropes like last time ? Pull your legs apart ? I thought you learnt how to behave.â he said with a smile. âOr did you enjoy this so much that you want to try again ?âÂ
Losing control from time to time was nice. But not tonight, you needed the contrary. You need to feel in control of your body. The next few days were gonna be stressful. One of your hands dared to come rest on his cheek as your legs opened against his hand.Â
âGood girl..â he said, his lips coming to nuzzle against your hand. And as usual when a kiss comes first teeth soon follow. His fingers able to slide under your pants and underwear come to slide in between your folds feeling the wetness of yourself under his burning gaze.Â
âJust as I thought.â he smiles as one of his fingers pushes inside you and you answer with a moan. His lips nibbling on the flesh of your palm, eyelashes brushing against your fingers as he starts going back and forth with his fingers inside of you.Â
Your head resting against the pillow of the couch, eyes closing as another moan came from between your lips as he pushed another finger inside of you. The fingers of your hand slowly extended to grasp onto strands of the manâs hair, while the other came gripping on the back of the couch.Â
âThatâs it. Let yourself go, kitten.â A growl soon followed when you tug at his hair when his thumb rested against your clit making small circles as he never stopped pumping his fingers in and out of you.Â
You arched your back, the stimulation of his fingers rubbing against that one G spot inside of you and his thumb massaging your clit made you see stars. You tug on his hair once again in another sound, coming under his watchful gaze.Â
âSylusâŠâÂ
âItâs okay. Iâm here. Iâm always here.â he answered, coming to put a kiss on your forehead.Â
Once he pulls his fingers out of you, he slides a hand under you to carry you against him. You look up at him, arms sliding around his neck to secure yourself.Â
âAnd you ?âÂ
âOh ? Are you asking for more, sweetie ?ââ he chuckles as you frown at him. His lips slowly come against your own to kiss you once more. âThis is what I wanted. Nothing more for tonight. But I can not promise you anything just like this for tomorrow.â A devilish smile spreads on his lips.Â
âDid you have a shower already ?âÂ
âI did⊠Earlier.â you answered as you rested your head against his shoulder. âWhat about food ?âÂ
âYou are hungry arenât you.â He said as he settled you down on the bed. âTell you what. I will come bring you some food and you can enjoy some while I take a shower. Sounds good ?âÂ
âSounds good. I will try to not eat everything.â You smile.Â
And just like that three days passed. Now you were standing in front of the door, arms crossed on your chest and Sylus blocking your way with his hands on his hips.Â
âI will not change my mind Sylus. I need to attend this auction alone.â
âWhat if Iâd like to be charitable tonight?â
You scoff. âPlease. You just want to keep your eyes on me.â
âI want to make sure you are safe and sound.âÂ
âAnd I told you I can defend myself. If the HQ knows that I am attending an official mission with the boss of Onychinus, I could get in trouble. Because they will keep an eye on me ! Just like you do.âÂ
Sylus sighs. You could be so stubborn. He slowly raised his hand to pinch his noseâs bridge. âTake Mephisto with you at least. He could help you in any case of an emergency.âÂ
âThat noisy littleâŠâ you were met by a glare that was telling you to not push your luck so you resigned. âOkay.â
âGood.â As soon as you agreed to his terms, he snapped his fingers and Mephisto almost appeared on your shoulder. Resting his claws against the fabric of your dress. âI will drive you there. And I will be there again to pick you up soon after Mephisto lets me know the auction has ended. Understood ?âÂ
âYes mom.â
He chuckles before pushing the door open, letting you leave the safe base first to get to the car parked in front of the entrance. He soon followed and got inside the car to start driving across the dark streets of the N109 Zone. Mephisto was awfully quiet, head turning around at each corner, as if the bird was already on a mission analyzing what was around him. You stared mindlessly at the street lamps barely shining some cold light on the pavement beneath them as you fondle with your bag between your fingers.Â
You were stressed. Stressed to not be able to bring back that diary. What if you came back in Linkon city with nothing to offer but the news that another potential monster had this fucking diary between their hands. How many children would have to suffer from experiments and be kept in the dark before they all stopped ? Without realizing it, you started clenching on your accessory. And the hand of Sylus left the gearbox to come rest on your thigh in an attempt to soothe you.Â
âDo not be anxious. People coming to those kinds of fake charity auctions hunt down people like you. Nice face, seemingly weak and rich.â he said. âMephisto is a sign that you are under my watch but he canât dissuade them from doing anything if they are crazy enough to try.âÂ
âSo I need to appear confidentâŠâÂ
âExactly. I know you can do it. After all, you showed me your acting skills more than once.â he pressed his thumb against your thigh as he kept looking at the road in front of you. âIâm not here physically but Mephisto is my eyes. And Iâll keep an eye on you.â
âI know.â you sighed before taking another deep breath. It will be okay, you thought, Sylus is right. You had to have faith in yourself and in him. It will go by so quickly, you wonât even realize it.Â
The car slows down and you are now parked in front of an immense building, maybe even taller than some of Sylusâs ones. You look up from your seat as Mephisto mimics you. âWhere are we ?â
âThe place of the auction. The HQ of the Eurydike cult. Weird bunch of fuckers.âÂ
You hummed before pushing the door open, before closing it you looked at your partner flashing him a smile. âI will be back.â He softly smiles back waving, asking you to be careful once more. And you closed the door, walking towards the entrance of the building, taking out the invitation out of your bag to show the bodyguards that you were allowed to enter the place.Â
As soon as you stepped foot inside, you were faced with a display of wealthiness and laughter coming from every corner of the giant hall. You were taken aback, thinking for a second that the only man you thought was this wealthy in the N109 Zone was Sylus. The hall was made of black marble with golden cracks, contrasted by high white walls that reflected the light of the candlesticks. Hanging banners here and there with an unknown insignia, and false plants hanging in green. You looked around, looking for a sign indicating the location of the meeting. But unfortunately the place was badly indicated, this auction was probably a place of regulars. However you spotted some people whispering about getting their place already to get closer to the stage, and you figured it would be the best idea to follow them around. Which you did. Everyone here was accompanied, and you were alone. Well accompanied but by a bird that started to get agitated. The sound of your heels against the marble under your steps was ringing in your mind. You stopped near a waiter, grabbing a glass of champagne. You needed to relax, you needed to look like you belonged here. Alcohol might help you settle down.Â
So you went to sit at the first row, crossing your legs as Mephisto left your shoulder to take place on the chandelier hanging above your head. You could see some of the objects being displayed on the stage in front of you. Vases, stuffed animals, jewelry and⊠Wait. Was that one of Raphayelâs painting ? You frowned while taking your phone out of your purse to take a picture. Before you could press the button, you felt a tap on your shoulder.Â
You flinched, turning around. âMiss. Sorry to bother you but you are not allowed to take pictures in this room.â A man with green eyes gazed upon you. He was tall, his hair and lashes almost hiding the gaze that you could feel burning on your face. His face did not seem upset, nor angry. Good⊠The last thing you needed was to attract angry people.Â
You smiled. âSorry, I just wanted to make sure that painting would interest my husband before I start bidding on it.â Â
âOh ?â He looked up at the stage staring at the painting of the seashore painted with different shades of blue and orange, with the silhouette of a faceless woman dipping her feet in the water. âHm. It is indeed a wonderful painting. From a very famous painter from Linkon City. Although it is one of his earliest works.âÂ
âAre you familiar with this painter ?â you asked, interested in the knowledge of the person in front of you. To faint uninterest you slowly raise your glass to your lips looking away from the man.
âFamiliar would not be right. We are acquaintances.â He then looks down at you smiling as he circles around the chair to finally sit next to you. âAlthough we havenât seen each other for many years.âÂ
âI see.â you nodded looking at that man dressed in white, your eyes landing on the cross shaped brooch on his tie. You swore you have seen this insignia somewhere. âAnd you are ?â
âShh little miss. Itâs starting soon. We will have all the leisure to chit chat after that auction is done.âÂ
The auction began, and you drank the rest of your drink before waving to a waiter to come and get rid of you. Under your seat as under that of all the other participants was a small booklet with the passage numbers of each work or object. The one you were looking for was in last place. A sigh escaped from your lips as the first sums of money were thrown out of control.Â
Beside you, still stood this same man, his left leg crossed above the right and his hands clasped on his knees, looking at the scene with a satisfied smile. With the light down, you took the time to linger on her face. He had it very hard, like a man who had to face situations that those of Linkon city did not have to face. But this sweet smile on his lips came in contrast with the portrait that could be made of him. You wondered if Sylus knew the man. You slowly raised your head to look towards Mephisto who was looking straight at you under his watchful red eyes. Just like his master.Â
An hour and half passed, and you were starting to get numb to all the money that was being spent. The man next to you also did spend some money. He bought the painting you were eyeing earlier. And then came the mention of the diary.Â
As soon as you could, you raised your hand to bid. With a glimpse of mischievousness, the man next to you raised his hand. Followed by some other people in the room. After nearly a minute of bidding, you raised your hand again.Â
âPlease stop playing sir. My husband is rather interested in this diary.â you muttered to the man next to you. âStick to your paintings.âÂ
A suppressed laugh came as an answer as your bid was registered as a final answer. The hand of the man next to you extended towards you as the lights turned on. âItâs a pleasure to be doing business with you, little miss.âÂ
You frowned looking at the manâs gaze. âBusiness ?âÂ
âI am the owner of this building and the organizer of this auction. My name is Castiel, pleasure meeting you.âÂ
You gasped as you came to shake his hand. Dear god, why did you have to talk like that to the man who setted up a charity auction. This is why his brooch reminded you of something, it was literally plastered in the hall.Â
âI am very sorry for my-â
âNo offense is taken. Should we talk privately ? I will give you this diary your husband so wishes to have.â he lets go of your hand, getting up before offering his arm.Â
âYes.â you nod as you get up too, sliding your hand on the manâs arm. You were so giddy with the idea of success that you nearly didnât realize Mephisto was cawing.Â
However if you didnât notice, it was not the case of Castiel that turned his head up towards the bird with a frown. He then asked the security to take care of it, and before you could step in and prevent this from happening, you were dragged into the manâs office.Â
Once in his office, he let go of your hand. He headed towards the back of his desk, unlocking what sounded like a chest. In the meantime, you take the time to look around. The place was dark, but golden and green touches enhanced the place. You were basking in a warm light which contrasted with the cold atmosphere that was outside the sacred building. You did not move from the entrance, waiting patiently for you to be given what you had bought.Â
âThis book was retrieved from a bad manâs hands.â His voice broke the silence that was installed between you two. âIf your husband really is interested in this script, you should be careful of him.â He said as he got closer to you handing the overused diary.Â
âI will keep that in mind.â you nodded before taking the diary out of this manâs large hands.Â
He smiled, flashing his perfect teeth to you. This close, you could see the eyebags between his vibrant eyes. A shiver ran up your back. âI hope our paths will cross again, little miss. If charity is what you are looking for, we could always use new members.âÂ
Charity⊠âSure. I would love to stop by once again. The fate of the N109 zone is very dear to me afterall.â You smiled.Â
He hummed. âSmart girl.â his fingers brushed your chin before you stepped back. âWe should get going, your husband will surely show up in about a few seconds .â
Before you could answer, Castielâs hand was on your free wrist and was dragging you out of his office, back into the auction room and in the middle of it stood Sylus. A visibly displeased Sylus. Almost angry. He shouted your name as soon as you came into his vision. The man with dark brown hair let go of your hand softly, placing his hand on your naked back.Â
âYou should go, little miss. Iâd hate for your husband to scare away my guests.âÂ
You mindlessly nodded as you felt a sensation creeping up your back, and you almost trotted back to Sylus, pushing through the bodyguards preventing him from getting closer to their leader. Once in arms reach, the white haired man pulled you under his arm, hiding you beneath his coat.Â
And yet as you were leaving the scene, you could feel Castielâs gaze burning holes in your back.

Tangled Webs Part 7
A/N: sorry it took so long to write this one, I wasnât sure where I was going with it. I do have a plan for the next part so it should be out sooner. I will also add the links to the parts when Iâm less tiredâbut for now, my masterlist is pinned to the top of my page!!
Not proofread
Contains: sad reader, kinda angsty, another poll because I love polls lol, + anything else that I missed
SERIES MASTERLIST
By the time your tears had stopped, the sun was beginning to rise again. You huffed, standing to your feet.
How dare he?
You were done cryingâyou had no more sadness left in you. But you had plenty of anger left. And you knew just where to direct itâ
Venom.
The same Venom that was currently tearing apart the cafe next to your house. You rolled your eyes, still itchy and red from all the crying, as you slipped into your suit.
Maybe you should just call out sick today.
â
Your phone kept buzzing in your purse as Mary Jane and Gwen chatted beside you. Having peeked at it earlier in the meal, you knew it was Jameson.
After calling out, youâd received several rather insistent messagesâurging you to send him the pictures you got last night. You decided to send them later, if you sent them at all.
Youâd only gone to the gala last night because Eddie insisted on you staying in as a photographerâbut you decided youâd quit on the spot if asked to work with him again. Youâd rather a building fall on you again than to have to work with Eddie Brock. Itâs probably best for Jameson to fire you againâŠalthough then you definitely wouldnât be able to pay yours and Johnnyâs half of rent.
Johnny.
Ugh, he was going to kill you if you didnât pay on time again.
Deciding to be somewhat productive today, you get to work rearranging the living room furniture, which consisted of; a couch, a chair, a lamp that only worked if you held the cord at a certain angle and a half-dead plant. Rearranging things always made you feel betterâit gave you something you could control.
â
By the time dinner had rolled around, you realized there was no food in the fridge other than a week only pack of salami that Johnny had bought and a stack of crackers that heâd stuck in there for some reason. You grabbed your bag before heading towards the door. Pulling it open you nearly tripped over the man half asleep man in the now-open doorway.
âSam?â He didnât move. You nudged him lightly with your shoe, no response. Crouching down, you shook him awake. He yelped and rolled away. You winced as he slammed into the wall across from your apartment. âWhatâre you doing?â
âI was justâŠuhâŠstanding guard?â He trailed off, sentence sounding more like a question than an answer.
âYou were asleep?â
âYeah, but,â he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, âthere was some guyâthe one form the market! He was hanging around outside the apartment for a while. I didnât want him to get in.â He avoided your eye contact as he mumbled the last part, âAnd I donât have a key.â
You snorted as you pulled him inside. âIâm heading towards the store. We need more food. Somebody ate it.â You gave him a pointed look.
âGee, what do you expect? You leave me home all day with nothing to do, no one to talk toâŠâ You swat at him as he laughs, dodging.
âIâm working!â You laughâyour chest burns, but in a good way now. You frown, remembering what youâd found this morning.
âWorking, working, right.â He eyes you suspiciously. âSpeaking of work, you wouldnât happen to know what your colleague was doing outside our apartment, do you?â
âOur apartment? My apartment.â He waved you off as you continue your trek towards the market. âAnd I might. But itâs none of your business.â
âWow, none of my business? Youâre lame.â
âLame? Really? You canât think of anything better than lame?â He flushed, tucking his hands into his jacket.
âYeah, lame.â
âUh huh. And what are you?â
âSuper awesome, cool, amazing, handsome, incredible, heroicânot to mention humble.â You both said the last part at the same time before he shoved you, picking up his pace. You laughed as you ran to catch up with him.
âYouâre just so humble and cool! And heroic. And awesomeâŠoh yeah, did I forget to mention humble?â
âShut up!â
â
One voicemail.
You stared at the message box. The call had come in while you and Samâwho is now singing loudly in your showerâwere at the store. Harry or Eddie?
You werenât sure. You also werenât sure who youâd rather it be from, you didnât really want to talk to either of them right now. After seeing Harry dancing with Feliciaâit had looked soâŠright. Like they just worked together.
And EddieâŠyou shook your head, not wanting to think about him right now.
Maybe Sam could listen to it? And tell you what it says? No way. Who knows what they couldâve said? Thereâs no chance you were risking Sam hearing a potentially super personal message.
You closed your eyes as you reached for the button, wincing as you heard the click.
âHey, web-head! Iâm back from spaceââ
You softened as Johnnyâs voice came through the speakerâdespite his disregard for any attempt to conceal your secret identity. His voice was smooth with a tired edge to it. Youâd missed him. A lot. Maybe even more than youâd missed Harry these past few monthsâbut you didnât want to think about what that means.
ââgot about 3 hours worth of paperwork to do, but maybe I can pawn it off on old Benny, oh well, Sueâs not been feeling well the last few weeks so maybe I should do her paperwork, then again, Reed could do itâI mean, itâs not like heâs her husband or anything!â You could hear the sarcasm in his voice, causing you to crack a smile. âAnyways, Iâll be back in a bitâŠhowever long it takes me to get these reports done.â He groaned and you could hear a loud bang in the background, you assume heâs throwing somethingâŠor himself.
âThatâs Johnny?â You jump, turning around to see Sam in the bathroom doorway, using a towel to dry his hair.
âIs that my shirt?â
âNo.â
âIt definitely is.â
âNuh uh.â
âUh, yes huh.â
âNo itâs not.â
âYes it is.â
âYouâre delusional.â
âAnd youâre a thief.â
âOh yeah? Whatâre you gonna do? Web me to the ceiling?â He taunted you.
You didnât give him time to consider his words before he was already stuck to the wall.
âHey!â
âIâm gonna take a shower!â You singsonged as you walked to your room, grabbing a pile of clothes off your bed. You ignored his protests behind you.
âLet me down!â
âBye, Sammy. Catch you in a bit!â You winked at him before slamming the door shut, leaving him to continue shouting as he stayed stuck to the wall.

Life After Info Post
[Click here to access the Life After Digital Comic Book]
Summary: Two years ago, a viral outbreak rose the dead. Considering how his life had gone up to this point, surgeon Trafalgar Law figured this might as well happen too. When a supply run into the nearby city gets intercepted by a seemingly reckless and impulsive former patient, the dependable routine Law had settled into in this new life shatters. He finds himself exposed â his body out in the infected landscape, his conscious clawing to define what he believes is right, his heart begrudgingly deciding to find a new home on his sleeve. Maybe thereâs more than a virus roaming the new world that can bring a dead man back to life.
Content Warnings: Canon typical violence, zombies/body horror (but lbr I am not good at making scary things look scary)
Relationships: Luffy x Law
Update Schedule: New page every Monday/Wednesday/Friday
Page Count: [37 posted | 55 drawn]
Latest Update: [7/21/24] WOWEE did I get myself carried away this morning. I just spent 5 hours organizing my comics and creating the digital comic book pages. I could have spent that time drawing or idk not doing what I do for my job, but I cannot be stopped. Anyway I blocked out 30 pages of this comic last week and they include the most intense action sequence I've ever done in my gotdang life. Wish me luck because I am nervous about tying down all my drawings lmao.
OLD UPDATES:
[6/29/24] HULLO! I'm doing so bad at keeping my masterposts updated lately I am sorry. All pages of life after are tagged life after if you're ever looking between masterpost updates! Also exciting update, I finally have figured out all the different plot points i'm gonna be hitting (yay!). I got hung up on something for awhile that made me not wanna work on this project, but I'm back at it. I think we'll end up with 6-7 parts! I have probably another 80-100 pages to draw lol. Also i got the app Magic Poser and it's AWESOME and I immediately used it to block out sets cuz MAN I hate backgrounds.
[6/10/24] HELLO. I'm sorry I've been shit at updating my masterposts lately. It's easiest to do from my computer, which I rarely use, and life has been happening. I also can't believe I bungled the queue and posted pg19 before pg18 i am very sorry đ€Š Eventually I'll have to turn this into an airtable base I'm sure, but until that day comes where I have like 100 pages of this comic we're stickin to the regular post lmao
[5/26/23] I got real caught up in doing summer of lawlu comics this week and this is the first week since the first week of April I haven't drawn new Life After pages and it feels weird đ
[5/19/24] More Luffy backstory comin' this week! :^)
[5/12/24] Updating now so get myself on schedule to update on Sundays like I had been with my other comic master post!
[5/8/24] Thank you to everyone who's liked/reblogged/comment on the first few pages!! It means the world to me that anyone's reading my silly little comics.
[4/28/24] HULLO. Itâs happeninnng. Iâve spent the last few weeks working on this comic, and I gotta make this post so I can start queuing pages & link this in them! This is the most likeâŠ.legit? Comic endeavor Iâve undertaken perhapsâŠ.ever. Iâm very nervous about committing to how long it will need to be lol. This story is dear to my heart â zombie content is kind of my very favorite. Iâve always found it to be a great backdrop for exploring themes like grief, coping with change, community, and learning to live again. Itâll be a long haul but I hope youâll ride it out with me!! Tomorrow Iâll be posting the first two pages. After that a page will post every Monday/Wednesday/Friday. As of this post Iâve completed over 20 pages so that I have a good lead on whatâs posting and continuing to write, so Iâm hopeful thatâs a cadence Iâll be able to maintain. Iâll update this post weekly to include the most recent pages the way I do with my main comics master post. All pages will be tagged 'Life After' and I'll tag any pages with zombies in them with 'zombie' for blacklisting etc.

Part 4: The Plan
part 3 | series masterlist | ao3 link
jason todd x f!reader
summary: one step back, one step forward in this dance with jasonâs warring desires for intimacy and distance
tags: swearing, UST, light angst
rated explicit (mdni) | wc: 2.7k
a/n: iâve never experienced an american thanksgiving so all of my knowledge of it comes from pop culture. this is basically the last of my âset upâ chapters, so plot + relationship development is going to really hit their strides starting from here.
Jason is learning to live with the thousand pangs of guilt that go hand in hand with his determination to be your friend and only your friend. Guilt churns his stomach so often that it fades to just another background distraction. Every time you stiffen up when he pulls back, every time you try to catch your face before the disappointment can shine through, he sees it all. He should keep his distance, stop reeling you in close before drawing back unexpectedly, but he canât quite manage it.
A more recent encounter is still seared into his brain. It plays behind his eyelids as he swims laps around the pool with Rei.
The two of you had been heading to the dinner two blocks off of campus after Duvallâs class, the fiery light of the sunset colouring the worn paths across the quad. Class had been predictably⊠painful. Reading it for his own purposes or for a group of students to discuss, Frankenstein has always struck a raw nerve. I am thy creature and I will be even mild and docile to my natural lord and king, if thou wilt also perform thy part, which thou owest me. Seen and made raw by a woman and her monster years in the past, and isnât that just the rub? The world spins, new generations live and die and live again to be just as disappointing to the men that created them. Jasonâs heart had ached behind his sternum and even the usual balm of your chatter had taunted him with everything he denies himself. Heâd made all the right noises, kept his head down and hands jammed into his pockets as the two of you had finally made it to the diner.
âGod I almost lost it when whatâs-his-name in business started talking.â Youâd snorted as youâd opened up your menu, plastic pages clinging together. âLike is it really so hard to have an ounce of empathy? We should start a list of worst takes because that had to be a top five. Jay?â Jason must not have been playing his part well enough because now youâre looking at him, too silent, too caught up on the long stale nickname. âWhat are you thinking Jay, because Iâm thinking pancakes for dinner.â All he could think of is the one and only Dick took him out for pancakes. Begrudgingly. And how it had ended with Dick storming out, suddenly excited about hanging out with the Titans, only to come back disappointed when he had realized he was Jasonâs only ride.
âDonât.â It had come out low and mean, lobbed through gritted teeth like something hot and vicious. Jason had watched it hit you, the way youâd leaned back from the table and hunched your shoulders closer. âJust donât call me that, yeah?â It had taken concentrated effort on his part to breathe, mimic loosening the tension in his body, to look smaller and non-threatening.
âOh. Okay, Jason.â Silence had stretched out between the two of you, an almost tangible distance. The words to explain, to apologize and smooth things over had stuck in his throat. The fading light had caught your face for a moment, your face crumpling in hurt before shuttering closed. Your blank face was burned into his mindâs eye just as clearly as all the ways he had not repaired things between you.
Jason surfaces, water sluicing off of his shoulders, before going back under for another stroke. His body takes over the pattern of striking and breathing while his mind returns to the diner. Thereâs a small animal part at the back of his mind thatâs wary of the water. Keeps a small part of him on the look out for any tinges of green to the liquid in the irrational fear that he might also come out of this body of water changed. Actually taking Rei up on his offer to go swimming was in some ways a punishment for Jason, adrenaline thrumming through his veins until his muscles flagged from exhaustion.
Rei is waiting for him at the entrance to the gym, water bottle half empty and lid still unscrewed. His glasses keep sliding down his still damp face but he grins at Jason anyway.
âYou sure youâre not looking for a spot on the swim team? Because Iâm sure the team captain would get the coaches to make an exception for you.â
Re-shouldering his duffel, Jason asks, âNow why would he do that?â
âIâd do it because I want one last trophy for the relay team.â Rei says wryly.
âNo shit?â
âYeah, I donât really advertise it because Iâve been doing it for so long that I keep forgetting new people donât already know I swim. But if you want a spot youâre in. You lapped me like what, four times?â
âFive,â Jason says sheepishly. âNot much of a team player, so Iâm gonna have to turn you down.â
âFair enough,â Rei shrugs. âBut I donât think youâre giving yourself enough credit. You probably dodged a bullet though, the coaches are hard asses about not drinking before meets.â
âYeah, speakinâ of drinkinâ, what the hell was in those drinks you made the first night.â
Rei laughs and the conversation takes a more lighthearted turn as they head across campus to the student union. It doesnât take much to keep the conversation going so Jason has time to turn over Reiâs invitation over in his head. Jason would never have been able to accept â spackling over his extensive scarring for even just today had been a pain â but it had given him hope that maybe even after all his mishaps with you, that he might still be achieving ânormalâ.
Wednesday comes by and Jason makes up his mind to show up the weekly study session. With the Thanksgiving weekend coming up heâs got less work than ever but an even stronger desire not to be alone. Campus has emptied out in anticipation of the long weekend, the student union almost echoingly empty. Lina and Rei are already taking up a bench, sickeningly affectionate and dodging the balled up paper scraps Danika is tossing at them. You sit next to her, rolling your eyes at her antics then egging her on whenever Lina swoops in to leave another lipstick stain on Reiâs cheeks. He hesitates before committing to the seat at the end of the table nearest to you. The fresh loukoumades burning a hole in his bag will have to be shield and apology enough.
Heâs nearly there, three feet out from his target, when the sound of a chair getting angrily out of the way diverts his attention. Will is dragging his bike through the field of chairs, cursing up a storm that has even Jason with all of his years in Gotham taken aback. Quite possibly its the most words Jasonâs heard Will say out loud in the scarce months heâs known the man. The incongruity of the scene with who Will generally is as a person sends most of table into nervous half laughter.
âWill? Will whatâs wrong? The biking parking finally full or something?â You ask, disbelieving.
âWhat the fuck does it look like?â He snarls, before throwing the bike to the ground in frustration.
âHeyââ
âWill, what happened?â Lina cuts Jason off, uncurling herself from around Rei and leaning forward. Her eyes are wide and searching, and in Jasonâs opinion, not suspicious enough for the uncharacteristic rage on Willâs face.
âSome motherfucking cock sucking moron nearly ran me off the sidewalk in their piece of shit gas guzzler. Thatâs what happened.â He goes to throw himself into the seat next to you but Jason beats him to it, larger frame boxing him out. Throwing Jason an annoyed glance, Will slouches into the only seat left. He brandishes his coat clad arm in front of Lina and Rei, still thrumming with pent up energy.
âLook what they did!â He exclaims.
âI donât think any of the bandaids in my bag are big enough for that scrape.â Rei says regretfully.
âWhatâ never mind the scrape, look what they did to my coat!â He pulls the fabric tight across his wrist, shoving it under their noses. Rei and Lina give each other confused looks over Willâs head.
âThereâs a lose thread?â Questions Danika.
âYes! Thank you, yes! That idiotic jackass made me scrape up my Loro Piana jacket, do you know how much this costs?!â
âSo,â Danika interjects, âwonât your family just buy you a new one and write this off for taxes or something?â
âThatâs notâ okay that piece of shit not only destroyed my jacket and put my life at risk but heâs also polluting with his mid-life crisis pollutant puker. You know thereâs a reason Gotham ranks worst in pollution for cities in New Jersey? Itâs thanks to people like that who donât care that their cars are leaking oil and going knocking people â who are just trying to be nice to the environment â off of their bikes when they were just minding their ownââ
âReport it to the police or campus security then.â Jason interrupts, before Will can get into the rant heâs building up steam for. âYou got close enough to see the oil leaking, you probably saw the license plate too.â Jason pulls the loukoumades out of his bag and slides them over to you, keeping eye contact with Will the whole while. Will breaks eye contact first, pulling his perfectly intact black wool coat tighter around him before shoving his hands deep in the pockets. Youâve cracked open the container and let out a hum of delight. Willâs eyes dart to the table.
âDidnât get it. How was I supposed to know that one minute Iâd be riding along, and then the next Iâd be traumatized for life by some inconsiderate brute?â He sulks. And oh, yeah, not everyone had grown up with B and all of his lessons on paying attention to your environment for evidence.
âYeah, speaking of trauma, whoâs got plans for thanksgiving yet?â Danika asks, mirth and humour her weapon against the atmosphere.
A sharp elbow knocks once into Jasonâs ribs. He turns to look down at you, hoping your bid for attention wonât turn out to be disappointing. You meet his gaze with cheeks stuffed full of fried dough and honeyed syrup, eyes narrowed and considering.
âTheyâre not pancakes, but I thought youâd like âem anyway.â Jason says.
You swallow, before beginning to speak in a low voice, letting the flow of conversation continue around the two of you undisturbed. âIf this is an apology, there better be more from where that came from.â Your small lopsided smile is sincere, but it doesnât quite erase the image of your blank face from the dinner from his memory. Nodding, he goes to pull out the second Tupperware container that heâd had the foresight to prepare and you begin to lick the leftover syrup from your fingers. Jasonâs vision narrows down to your thumb and forefinger, glistening in the fluorescent lights. He could swear his heart skips a beat when your pink tongue flicks out, his breathing certifiably irregular when you start to suck on your fingers. The image of your lips shiny from syrup will probably be engraved on his second headstone as the cause of death.
ââson, Jason.â Danikaâs voice, high pitched and insistent, breaks the moment. Heâd be embarrassed at tuning out his situational awareness if he wasnât also scrambling to answer her half-heard question.
âNo plans for me. My family and I arenât really in a âgatherings and gratitudeâ place right now.â
âWhoops, weâll add your family to the off-limits list. What do you usually do then?â
Your phone starts buzzing, and you swear under your breath as you navigate sticky fingers and tight jean pockets.
âI just make a fancier meal than normal, watch the parade on the tv. Not much to it.â He replies off-handedly. He doesnât mention the extra patrols heâll do, in anticipation of one of the Rogues deciding to make a splash across holiday headlines.
âSorry, Iâve got to answer this.â And already youâre trying to climb over Jason to get out from the booth and away from the table. It brings your face closer to his than itâs ever been and Jason would be trying to pin a name to the exact shade of your eyes if it wasnât for the worry on your face. The nearly empty building means that you donât wander far from the group. You pace as you listen to whoever is on the phone and play with the charm on your necklace. Will catches on to Jasonâs line of sight and rolls his eyes, still sulking in his chair.
âSo thereâs a whole list, yeah? Things you donât talk about?â Jason asks, trying to distract himself.
âOh I wouldnât call it anything so official.â Lina dismisses.
âNo but we totally should!â Fires back Danika. âIt would make things sooo much less awkward if Jason knew not to bring up just how much money Willâs rolling in, or the fact that Rei hates talking about the team right before a swim meet, or that when she,â and here Danika lowers her voice and nods in your direction, âplays with her necklace on a phone call fifty bucks says itâs someone from her family.â
âGot it, no askinâ her about the secret phone calls.â Jason says with a tight smile.
âOh itâs nothing super secret.â Danika leans back into the corner and waves a lazy hand. âJust that most of them were dead set against her doing English instead of some âuseful degreeâ like pre-med or engineering. Donât know why though, I donât thinkâ Iâve ever met anyone that hates calculus more.â
But Jason, Jason thinks he does know why. Puts together the little pieces of your past youâd entrusted to his scarred hands and looks to the shared weft of your past. Looks at a girl whose family had scraped and fought to make a life untouched by poverty in a city that doesnât easily forgive, and knows that it took luck and bone wearying effort to make it out of the Alleyâs clutches. He looks at the girl who is used to being told her opinions donât matter and yet believing in them anyway, who has put together a path leading right to her dreams even if the detours take her back to the place her family was happy to leave behind. Jason looks around the table at these fresh faced kids in their $6000 jackets and knows that none of them understand the constant, cavernous fear that all of the little luxuries they take for granted will suddenly disappear like morning fog. Jason knows the kind of courage it takes to push past that dogged fear and refuse the path your family pushes you down in order to achieve loftier goals.
The conversation has moved past him now, wrapped in his reverie. Rei and Danika have devolved into the kind of hardline negotiation Jason would have expected to see between seasoned lawyers rather than undergrads.
âCâmon Danika, I know you want a Pinterest worthy friends-giving but itâs just not going to work out this year.â Rei chides. âThereâs just no time thatâs gonna work for all of us.â
âYes but itâs our last year when weâre all for sure going to be in the same place for the holiday weekend!â
âLook, we should all be free the Friday after the long weekend. Weâll do another night out, me and Lina will host the pre, and itâll be our version of friends-giving. Iâll even make turkey themed cocktails if you want.â
âGross! Fine, fine.â Danika most definitely does not whine. âBut make them pumpkin pie themed cocktails instead.â
Jasonâs got half an ear on the conversation, but continues to study you as long as his input isnât needed. You sigh and seem to deflate as your call ends.
âSo boys, are you ready to see the damage Rei can do when heâs got his full bar cart with him?â Lina asks, coy as anything. âIâm sure heâll be able to make something that will even get you dancing, Jason.â
You shuffle around Jason, trying to squirm back into your bench seat. For a brief moment, your thighs bracket his.
âIf thatâs the plan,â Jason breathes out shakily.

So anyway
I want to talk about one of my favorite scenes in arcane and Jayce's character
The scene being the one before the Jayce/Mel fight vs Viktor
There's an overhead shot showing this table on it's entirety

The symbol of the gear it's important because it's an allusion to Jayce and Viktor's relationship; but not only that
I know I know Kintsugi and imperfection are beautiful, but I also want to point out the color, look, Kintsugi it's made with gold. And gold it's kind of everywhere in Piltover, but it's also an accent color for both Mel and Viktor after they both went through their magic transformation, so I think that at least in relation to Mel and Viktor, the golden color it's supposed to mean magic.
In this case a part of the table that broke during the explosion and was put together back with gold/magic (Viktor) and the other part of the table remained protected by Mel's magic and was whole the entire time (Jayce) but even when it was whole as a piece, it was still broken because it didnât have the rest of it
Then, we see Jayce looking at the table and touching it, he's thinking about Viktor, because it's Viktor and him (in a metaphorical way)

Now what follows next it's a flashback from the explosion at the council where we see Viktor's body, then a shot to Jayce's back, then a shot to Jayce's hammer

It's an interesting yuxtaposition of images because, I've already talked about art movements as a tool for storytelling in arcane here, but to simplify, the pattern on Jayce's back is very similar to an art nouveau pattern; an art movement that represents both Viktor himself and Viktor as synecdoche for Zaun. And I think this quick succession of images makes it even more clear, because it's Viktor, the pattern, the hammer, and as we now know, the hammer was given to Jayce by mage Viktor, so putting this side by side to the pattern, we are meant to link this three things together; the hammer AND the pattern on Jayce's back represents Viktor; Jayce is quite literally carrying Viktor on his back
This confirms that Jayce was thinking about Viktor, and the magic that brought him back, probably he was making the mental calculations of how it was that he survived but Viktor didn't as he later confronts Mel about it
Next, he grabs his hammer when he sees someone approaching (again, because he's afraid and the hammer makes him feel safer)
Then Mel reveals herself and Jayce let's out a breath of relief
At this point, things fit within a somewhat romantic framing, lovers who haven't seen each other in a while and they both have been through a lot; but that stops now
Jayce doesn't seem actually happy to see her, more than that, he seems to steel himself for what's happening next, and you can see how Mel's eyes are trembling a bit as if she was about to cry, clearly she was expecting comfort from Jayce
When that doesn't happen and she starts looking at him, she asks what happened and then the camera lingers on Jayce's brace, I think this is meant to be taken as Mel asking specifically about Jayce's brace
Then another shot of the gear table, remember we've already established that the broken parts of the table represent Viktor and his relationship with Jayce, so Jayce clearly is thinking about him, and that's what happened to him (his promise, mage Viktor); though at this point we don't know that
He says "Doesn't matter" because he doesn't want to talk with Mel about what he went through, he doesn't trust her anymore to share something like that with her, he probably is thinking about confronting her about what happened that day
And it's so funny to me, because she answers with "something happened to me too"
And it's "funny" because they aren't on the same page at all anymore. Jayce is thinking about how everything started and Mel wants to talk about what happened to her. Again, not because she's selfish or anything, but she's searching for comfort, comfort that Jayce doesn't want to give her, can't give her
Mel is searching for comfort, Jayce is searching for someone to blame, you can even hear the resentment on his voice
Then Jayce uses the conversation about what happened to Mel as a point to change the conversation into what he really wants to talk about
What happened to Viktor back during the attack and who is to blame
He asks about since when Mel had known about his powers, then you can literally see Jayce make the mental calculations; she should've been able to save everyone, to save Viktor and avoid everything; to avoid so much pain. But she didn't, why?
Then Mel it's stumbling over her words, she's fidgeting, clearly she had her defenses down and wasn't expecting for Jayce to attack her like that
But then again, it's because she was expecting Jayce from S1, the soft naive version of himself, this Jayce is rough around the edges, and clearly in a lot of emotional distress; he's changed so much, but she wasn't around to see the change, so for her this is such a sudden change
Then we get to the phrase
"Because you used me, and Viktor, for Hextech, you called us investments"
I think this phrase is very important to see the changes in Jayce's characters
He spend a long time in solitude, in a dark cavern, to think about what happened
If you don't know, being alone in a dark place for long periods of time it's very detrimental for mental health; it can cause hallucinations (thing we see actually happened for Jayce) and judging by what Jayce was hallucinating, he probably was thinking over and over again what happened, when did everything went wrong?
He probably thought about hundreds of scenarios where things went differently
And I think that it's important to point out that Jayce probably blames himself for what happened, but I also think he blames Hextech
So, some people have pointed out that Mel actually helped Jayce and Viktot to get their dream of Hextech, but maybe for Jayce that's part of of problem, maybe that's something he also thought about in the cave like "Oh, if she hadn't helped us, if she had stopped us, nothing would've happened" maybe that's why, in part, Jayce explodes at Mel
That would give more resentment to the "Because you used me, and Viktor, for Hextech, you called us investments". From Jayce's perspective it's not only that Mel "used" him, but more than that, she used them for Hextech; something that later would affect his and Viktor's life so much and for what? For money?
Then we can clearly see why Jayce might feel hurt at this
After that it's the fight, but I'm feeling too tired to analyze that now and this is already too long lmao

PSA for my fellow artists
Please be aware of a paypal scam going around right now!
Tonight I received messages from a "commissioner" asking me to draw a picture of her and her son. She offered me a large amount of money for my work, which leads me to my first point:
Always ask for payment upfront from new customers!
Doing so protected me from losing time (and potentially a lot of money) working on a piece for a scammer.
She claimed she was willing to pay extra for the work to be "finished as soon as possible". In hindsight, this is one of many common ways scammers create a false sense of urgency so you don't have time to think critically about what they're asking.
Secondly, she asked for the email used for my paypal. She claimed it was for sending payment, but this was actually a method for sending a scam email later, claiming that there was an issue with her payment requiring me to "refund" her $200. This is when I was able to confirm that it was a scam, stopped, and reported the email and the tumblr account. Had I not blocked her she likely would have continued to insist that she'd made a payment or possibly even threatened to take action against me if I didn't refund her money I never received, again, another common way scammers create a false sense of urgency and panic.
But other artists may not be so lucky, or know how to recognize these kinds of phishing schemes, so I thought making this post could be helpful!
Warning signs:
1. She asked for my pricing information and email through DMs, rather than reading my pinned post or using my carrd when directed to, things a legitimate customer would know to do.
2. The email was from "service paypal" (instead of just "paypal") and was in my spam folder.
3. The email used an impersonal greeting. All official paypal emails will begin by addressing you by name. It also contained a handful of grammatical errors that might be missed at first glance, especially if the scammer has successfully created a sense of panic.
4. The email claimed that due to the large size of the payment, the transaction could not be completed until an additional $200 payment was made from the customer that should be "refunded" to them once "made". This is blatantly untrue and an extremely unprofessional/sketchy practice a legitimate business like paypal would never use.
In my case, it claimed that it was part of the process of creating a business account- business accounts are free to create, however, and I already have a store page.
5. Most importantly: I never received any payments or notifications through paypal's official app or website.
Scammers will send you fake screenshots of their payments to attempt to convince you that they've spent or lost money and that it's your responsibility to help them get it back. Don't believe it. They're just trying to get you to "compensate" them for an issue that never occurred, by any means necessary. If there was any genuine issue with their payment, they could work with paypal or contact their bank to cancel the transaction or refund them. If you never recieved any payment, you don't owe them anything. It's not your job to "refund" them.
If you encounter a scam like this, block, report, and change your paypal password for good measure.
I got lucky, I didn't lose any money or get scammed, I only wasted a few minutes talking to her before I recognized it for what it was and stopped interacting. Sometimes, however, even if you recognize that something is a scam, just opening the email and viewing any attachments may potentially compromise your information. Never click any links in an email like this.
Below are screenshots of the email I recieved, which I'll be sharing for awareness purposes.
I'd also like to include this page from Paypal's website about the common signs of a phishing scheme:
Take care out there and look out for eachother! Please continue to spread awareness about these kinds of scams when you see them so your favorite artists can stay safe and informed.
I'll be updating some of my commission guidelines later to account for situations like this in the future.
Thank you for reading!

It is unbearably quiet on tumblr lately, and what little talking there is, it's all about the next game. Yeah, we're no longer in 2012, I get it.
I'll just keep entertaining myself however I can.
I've always wanted to talk about one fic I secretly refer to as one of the hidden gems in the fenhawke archives. I have never ever seen anyone bring it up, and in all these years I've never dared to recommend it to anyone... Don't think you can even find it so easily? For good reason tbh...
Thing is, it's a fill for da kink community on livejournal. Anyone remember that place? The safe haven where anyone could anonimously submit the kinkiest most shameless things you could think of - offering prompts, filling them... Those were some desperate times when we were painfully low on content, and it was very hard to find something to read. Finding a story with characterization that suited your vision was near impossible!
I myself was desprate enough to brave through countless pages of imageries I could not stomach, skimming through them just to get the general idea until something captured my attention.
So I found this, and honestly, to this day to me it is one of the best examples of... idk, not just good characterization, but the overall feeling of the fenhawke relationship, why I can't let go of them after 12 years? It's all subjective, of course, but no fanfic ever resonated with me as deeply as this. Also back then mage Hawke was not very popular and most stories featured rogues... I used to be very sad and lonely!
Warning: it's extremely triggery. I wouldn't even recommend reading the first part at all, because it's too difficult and painful to get through. Hell, I couldn't read it! I was looking through the text very VERY briefly to get only the most basic and vague understanding of what was happening, and it was still hard! There is a lot of abuse, rape, slavery things...
To get the idea:
The Alone quest did not get resolved as planned. Danarius managed to win that battle, captured Fenris and returned to Tevinter, gravely injuring Hawke in the process (Fenris thought he was killed). To break the remains of his will, Danarius threatens to erase Fenris's memories of Hawke, and he succumbs and stops resisting altogether. I don't want to recall the details, but it was awful. Go straight to part 17 (it's a flashback) to read a very lovely take on fenhawke first night together. It's super sweet and gentle, though painfully sad in context. Still, beautiful. Well, it gets worse before it gets better! Somewhere in part 19 Fenris's friends come for him (they sailed all the way here on Isabela's new ship) and he's rescued. What follows is an exceptionally touching tender reunion with Hawke. Oh, and then, once all is settled comes the second part - All the King's men, which is much less controversial and fairly easy to read. Fenris copes with his experiences, and Hawke is always there for him. There are some truly fantastic moments as they slowly get close to each other again! Isabela is pretty great here, and Anders... sorta made me warm up to his character? And it's all fairly believable and close to how we see them in the game.
I'm saying all this and linking this fic on the off chance that someone with tastes similar to mine ever needs something like it. I know I am grateful it exists, and still hold it very dear to my heart. Definitely never regretted finding it!

My Jason Todd Rec List and Character Manifesto! (Version 3.0! Edited and updated first on 28/01/2024 and then again on 23/09/2024)
This is a fuckin mess my ghouls, but I got categories and I got opinions and who can stop me from typing em out? Certainly not @lazaruspiss who is the reason this thing got made!
The format is gonna be:
title and page numbers (No #s if I'm recommending the whole title IMPORTANT UPDATE: Each title will be a direct link to a free digital copy! Make sure you have a good adblocker and enjoy!) picture Summary and general notes My estimate of how unhinged he is in this portrayal What his morals are like; note this isn't about whether he's a protagonist or antagonist
Since cream rises to the top, let us start with:
The Creme de la Creme
The best of the best. The most fun, the most compelling, the most interesting looks into his character.
Seeing Red aka Green Arrow (2001) #69 - #72
This one really does have it all. Jason runs rings around both Batman and Green Arrow at the same time, all the while going after a goal neither of them ever truly figures out in large part because this story wasn't afraid to let Bruce be either wrong or lying about Jason's motives. It also wonderfully leverages the ways in which the Bats and the Arrows are really good foils for each other. I think I'm going to be turning over the ways these interactions went down for a long ass time. I've been really wanting to go page by page for a comparison between the way Jason treats Mia in this and the way Jason treats Tim in the Titans Tower showdown. Bottom line for this one: It's just so good!
Jason's sanity level: Six out of Ten hinges affixed. He's got a solid grip on things, is reasonably level headed, only problem is he might have completely forgotten how to interact with other human beings outside of combat. Love him for that.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Sympathetic Villain. Decidedly willing to mow down some "brain donors", and his goals are pretty morally grey, but he clearly still has a strong code of ethics.
Task Force Z
This whole comic one big love letter to Jason Todd. The author, Matthew Rosenberg, very deliberately takes time to showcase all the strengths and flaws of his character that make him so beloved. He's competent, he's mistrustful, he's determined, he's heroic and yet poses as the villain, he's human yet badass, and he holds his ground against the rest of the Bats while still clearly loving them. If I was ranking these comics purely by plot and pacing this would not be in creme de la creme territory, but it's a fantastic synopsis of what Jason is all about and if I could only give someone a single series in order to let them understand who Jason is (and I couldn't give them Under the Red Hood), I'd give them this.
Jason's sanity level: Eight out of Ten hinges affixed. He's pretty level headed, but at the same time he very clearly is way too casual about violence to be full hinges affixed - the PTSD is very apparent in him.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Antihero. His motives are understandable and firmly rooted in doing the right thing, but at the same time he is very willing to be ruthless and to kill when he feels it's the right decision. Balanced!
Pay as You Go aka Outsiders #44 - #46
Jason's role in this story is fairly small, but it's a wonderful bit of characterization for him. The way he approaches Nightwing to offer his help and the way Nightwing accepts that offer are fascinating and very deserving of your time!
Also there's gay sex and a prison breakout, like, what more could you want? Actually I suppose you could also want (what I'm pretty sure is) Roy's first time meeting Jason as the Red Hood and some really cute scenes of him and Lian, and guess what this story has got that too!
Jason's sanity level: Ten out of Ten hinges affixed.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Antihero. He's deliberately choosing to play the villain, but he's very willing to work with the Heroes and is going out of his way to exonerate an innocent man.
Batman (1940) #408 - #411 Jason's debut featuring Ma Gunn's School and his first ever outing as Robin fighting Two-Face
Just LOOK at this PRECIOUS BOY! I wanna pinch him on his cheeks and give him a handful of these bad boys
Jason has a ton of personality to him right out the gate. The first story has Ma Gunn as the villain and she's a lot of fun. The second story in here with Two-Face is also enlightening with regards to Jason's early personality, even if it's not quite as fun.
Jason's sanity level: Ten out of Ten hinges affixed.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Hero.
Under the Red Hood would be next if it wasn't already filed under ->
Foundational Texts
This is the shit that defines Jason as a character. Much is mutable in any given comic, but somehow, someway, all depictions of Jason are impacted and informed by these three stories. Enough has been said about all of them that I'm gonna keep it brief.
Red Hood: The Lost Days
(You may have heard a lot about Talia's role in this one: I would encourage you to read my analysis of her in this story and do your best to see her perspective in all this, she's a heck of a lot less villainous than people keep saying she is)
Jason's sanity level: Eight out of Ten hinges affixed.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Antihero. He kills some incredibly nasty people, while also doing some genuinely heroic shit. The only places where his morals deteriorate are in the presence of Batman and the Joker.
Under the Red Hood
Jason's sanity level: Four out of Ten hinges affixed. Remember how his morals deteriorated in the face of Batman and the Joker? Yeah, that's mostly because he's way, way too personally invested to think straight about them. He's strategic as fuck, but this is not a stable man's strategy for dealing with his issues.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Sympathetic Villain. He is a revenant, a vengeful juggernaut, and breaks an awful lot of eggs making this brilliant disaster of an omelette.
Batman (1940) #426 - #429 A Death in the Family
Jason's sanity level: Ten out of Ten hinges affixed.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Hero.
Joker becoming an ambassador to Iran plotlines count: One too many.
Solid Storylines
These ain't the vaulted heights, but not everything has to be the Sistine Chapel. They're solid, and if you're wanting more Jason I do certainly recommend them.
Countdown Presents: The Search for Ray Palmer and Countdown to Infinite Crisis (special note here: Countdown to Infinite Crisis must be read backwards, meaning you start with Issue #51 and then read down to Issue #1 and Countdown Presents isn't in chronological order and just... oh boy this storyline is a mess, but much of it is also quite good)
Jason is in what I like to call his Purposeless Depression Era during this. It's after his plans in Under the Red Hood fail and he's really just got no place to go, no place to be. He's keenly aware that on a cosmic level, he truly does not belong in this world anymore. He's supposed to be dead. There's something I find quite neat about this team up, with Donna Troy and Kyle Raynor and Bob, it's out of the ordinary for Jason, it's not bat related, and the ways he fits and doesn't fit with the other characters are just neat.
I especially recommend Gotham by Gaslight. The plot will be a lil hard to follow if you haven't read the others, but by the end of it Jason hopes to return to Steampunk Gotham instead of his own Gotham where he doesn't think he belongs, and the moments of him hoping to literally leave his universe behind are both sweet and sorrowful.
Jason's sanity level: Ten out of Ten hinges affixed. He's just sad and lonely.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Hero. Even if only Donna is willing to tentatively try to see him that way.
Robin (1993) #177 and two pages of #182 and the front half of #183
Despite how much Jason is known for it, I think this is the only time we see him trying to run organized crime outside of Under the Red Hood (and uh debatably Battle for the Cowl). Short lil string of appearances, but critical for understanding how he's seen by Tim during this era if you care about that. Also I think this combined with Outsiders #44 - #46 (further down this list) it really cemented my understanding of Jason being strangely honest and forthright.
I think a major way other Bats fail to comprehend him is that they expect him to manipulate through lying, which just isn't his style. He doesn't lie about his motives; he doesn't obfuscate his tactics; he doesn't hide how he's feeling. Hell, he doesn't even try to lie his way out of prison! I could not tell you why this series of interactions gave me this impression but it is why I have such faith that when Jason says something, he probably just means it, even when characters like Dick or Tim assume otherwise.
Pity this was the lead up to Battle for the Cowl.
Jason's sanity level: Ten out of Ten hinges affixed. He's even attempting to pick himself up out of his Purposeless Depression Era slump at the start.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Antihero.
Nightwing (1996) #118 - #122 aka Brothers in Blood aka the One Where Jason Gets Tentacles
COWARDS and KNAVES will tell you "the tentacles are so icky and everyone is so OOC" or whatever but again they are KNAVES and COWARDS because bitch this shit is GREAT
Jason: Wow! My bestest big brother killed someone who deserved it, so now I (the person he's rejecting only because I kill people who deserved it) have a real chance at being his family again!! :D Hooray! :) Dickie-Bird why don't you look happy to see me? :) Dickie-Bird I went out of my way to get us matching outfits and stalked your work and killed people in your name so it's nice and easy to make room for me in your life! :) :) :)
Dick:
Jason's sanity level: Two out of Ten hinges affixed. My mans is off his rocker and I adore him like this. Frankly, the entire storyline is unhinged, and it only feels appropriate that Jason is similarly bonkers in yonkers.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Villain. You can sympathize with him, and he is still trying to carry out justice, but I have to call it for straight villain when he's threatening to bomb a building full of innocent people.
Batman and Robin (2009) #23 - #25
I don't have much to say about this one. It's good. The above page is pretty much the highlight.
Wait actually I do have something to say and it is that I would like to lick Jason's abs, pls & thx, because the other highlight is that Winick clearly believes in redeeming Jason's value as a villain through sex appeal and it is working lmao
Jason's sanity level: Ten out of Ten hinges affixed. Certifiably sane, he's passed all his psych exams!
Jason's moral compass bearing: Villain. He threatens to bomb a train station full of innocent people. While he does do that in service of freeing himself and Scarlet, thus making it not completely self centered, I still gotta put him firmly in Villain.
Nightwing (2016) 2021 Annual
In high contrast to the previous two in which Jason acts as a villain to Dick, this one has them working together and the tentative peace and cautious trust they've got going is interesting to me. Very reminiscent of his appearance in Outsiders!
Jason's sanity level: Nine out of Ten hinges affixed. He's quite chill, but there's just this little edge to him that says his relationship to violence is a little too casual a little too deep to really be fully hinged.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Edgy Hero.
Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing
With Jason's return to being an antagonist after a long stint in the Hero bin comes his return to being really fucking dangerous and whip smart! My boy quotes serious philosophy that gives him a real point to make against non lethal vigilantes and cops! I also think the part where he lets himself be arrested just... it says so much and all of it is wonderfully interesting and feels fitting for his character. He's kept deeply human, and just all of this portrayal gels together really well.
Originally I had this up in Creme De La Creme because really, even though Jason isn't the star of the show, and even with Gotham War having, er, Minorly Derailed Jason's role in things, and one or two inevitable scenes where ya just have to accept that he's not as trigger happy as he should be because DC is married to the Joker - even though all of that is true, this is still a phenomenal rendition of Jason. However, with all of those annoyances and with Task Force Z being written by the same author, I decided to put it down here and leave TFZ in it's place. Basically it's got an arguably better story-line than TFZ, but contains less Jason.
Also I like that he's friends with my favorite, Stephanie Brown :3 and he and Rose's chemistry is nice. On top of all that? It's a fun comic. Like, I generally hate the Joker, but I found myself enjoying watching the Joker do his Joker things in this one.
Jason's sanity level: Nine out of Ten hinges affixed. Level headed, calm, careful, really the only reason this isn't a 10/10 is cause he's obsessively focused, which like, honestly is pretty reasonable I think.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Clearly Justified Antihero. I almost put down Hero on this one, but ultimately he is just far enough over the line with how he treats the less threatening of the rogues like Killer Moth.
Your Mileage May Vary
These stories I can't recommend without major caveats or warnings, but I still think are worth mentioning.
Gotham War (It's such a mangled mess that I'm just gonna link a reading guide. The same website that all the others are on will get you to all the titles this guide lists)
So, the main problem here is that Gotham War spans five different titles and had three different authors whose renditions of Jason do not feel cohesive or even coherent. The funny thing is though, each rendition has real merits, and while it doesn't go far enough in condemning Bruce's horrifying treatment of Jason for many people's tastes, I have to point out that it's one of the only comics to condemn an instance of Bruce mistreating Jason at all. The fact that the other Robins come to his defense is a HUGE thing! The bar may be in Hell, but it did clear the bar!
Due to how disjointed it is, I'm going to very loosely separate Jason out into two versions of himself. Think of these not as hard lines, but more a spectrum he slides across depending on what author has him that issue.
Jason Primus combines the ideas in Jason's Under the Red Hood speech about controlling crime rather than trying to stomp it out with his more Heroic modern interpretation. He's a chill, funny, smart guy whose protectiveness over the mooks is really charming.
Jason's sanity level: Ten out of Ten hinges affixed. Jason's moral compass bearing: Hero.
Jason Secundus is much more violent, not used to working with other people, and paranoid and antsy in a way that causes him to take it out on people who really don't deserve it. This is a compelling take on him, though I like him closer to Jason Primus. His trauma has clearly shaped him a lot, both for better and for worse.
Jason's sanity level: Seven out of Ten hinges affixed. Jason's moral compass bering: Anti-Hero, most of this focuses on him antagonizing two former Joker goons which kinda doesn't work well cause they're mostly scarecrow goons actually and also at one point he hurts them in a way that borderline just seems like stress relief. It's nothing worse than what we see Batman himself doing countless times, but it's still jarring because we've been made to strongly sympathize with the goon in question.
Batman: Three Jokers <- I read it while typing this up (the first version of this lol), so I got a lotta thoughts
Guh, this one is just fucking sad
So, I don't mind a story being blunt with its message as long as the message actually holds up. Unfortunately, this three parter's attempt at the cycle of violence lesson is... bad. Real bad.
Jason in it is neat! This is a good Jason portrayal somehow despite literally everything about the way this comic frames him! The narrative expects us to believe he is a danger to society on the cusp of becoming another Joker, because he *checks notes* shot the Joker dead, shot at a Joker loyal guy, and roughly interrogated an injured child abuser. At no point does he show signs of wanting to hurt innocent people. At no point does he show signs of doing any hurting without premeditation or a need to defend himself. I'm baffled by this.
My kingdom for a fucking CRUMB of nuance, I swear, smh...
I hear a lot of people hate his one sided romance towards Barbara. This is understandable as it squanders the opportunity to have a female character not be stuck as the narrative sponge for man emotions. I like it from the perspective of a Jason fan, and give condolences for the Barbara fans. It's not healthy, and good fucking job on the janitor sweeping away his letter to her so poor Babs doesn't have to deal with that shit, but I do like Jason's desperation to be loved by someone, anyone, who might show him compassion.
Jason's sanity level: Six out of Ten hinges affixed. He's sad, he's lonely, he needs some PTSD specific therapy, he's a bit creepy about his crush on Barbara, but quite frankly he has it together a lot more than the narrative would like us to believe. The way the other characters treat him like he's some kind of monster just waiting to snap and start maiming people indiscriminately makes me really uncomfortable.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Antihero. Quite frankly I'm tempted to say Hero out of spite.
Red Hood and the Outlaws (2016) #1 - #43
There are three transcendental character moments in this run that I think make it worth reading even if not all of it's your cup of tea. On the other hand though there are some big issues that could very easily be deal breakers. Oh and anything after #43 is a wasteland and #43 is included purely for the implication that being transgender made a woman immortal.
The narrative structure is really heavily dependent on rule of emotional impact/cool/allegorical usefulness. Many events will not make any fucking sense based on petty things like basic logic or the laws of physics, but they do work just fine in the area of what makes the story more fun or the emotional beats hit harder. Stronger than average suspension of disbelief is necessary for the reward of getting a lot of stuff that's, like, just really fuckin cool.
The romantic side plot with Artemis is... odd. Either the author, Scott Lobdell, intended to write Jason as a desperate loser trying to date his uninterested lesbian friend who he co-parents with, or he accidentally wrote a romance so awkward and comp-het that I cannot wrap my head around reading it as reciprocated. This works for me because I have a lot of fun reading Jason as a desperate loser who's not even actually in love with her, he just is desperate to cling to the closest thing he's ever gotten to a nuclear family and in denial about being either aro/ace or gay.
Now, lets explore a lil bit of the whole Jason is a loser angle, cause it's not the whole story, there are many points in which Jason gets to be a badass motherfucker, but he is much, much less of the hypercompetant, highly determined, murderous threat he used to be. Almost none of the newer renditions of Jason are. This Jason in particular though is very soft and cuddly, and fits the archetype of man trying to be the edgy bad boy but who secretly just wants a hug and a warm glass of milk.
If I were to describe my personal Jason in a few sentences I would say that he is someone who loves himself viciously. He feels he has been wronged and is willing to burn down the world to rectify that. He will hold your ass at gunpoint and demand the hugs and warm glasses of milk that he fucking well deserves!
This Jason is about as far away from that as you can possibly get. I still like him though, and I do not count him as being a different character, because when you start with emotional logic that goes like this:
It wasn't my fault + I deserve better = I get to burn the world down in order to get better
It becomes extremely difficult to ever stop burning the world without also deciding "It was my fault" or "I don't deserve better". Jason is meant to have changed a lot, and this is a plausible evolution of the Jason I prefer.
Finally, the handling of Bizarro, a mentally disabled character, is a sensitive enough topic that your mileage will vary, even if I can't think of a bad thing to say about it. Jason and Artemis are really pretty good about treating him with respect, giving him help where he needs it and autonomy where he's capable of taking it. They raise him, but don't control him, and he is literally like three days old when they find him so this isn't infantilization. It takes the framing of Lenny from of Mice and Men and Flowers for Algernon and rejects them in a way that I am satisfied with. You'll just have to read it for yourself to see if you're satisfied as well.
Jason's sanity level: Ten out of Ten hinges affixed. I kinda wish he was more unhinged.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Hero. He even saves a puppy and gives them pats.
Knight Terrors: Robin
Have you ever been in the mood for a syrupy sweet hurt/comfort fanfiction in which Jason and Tim were magically forced to talk about how much they like each other in order to overcome their own insecurities? Do you wish that existed as a lavishly illustrated two issue comic?
If you answered yes to those two questions then congratulations! It does exist; this is it; go have fun!
If you think that sounds like ham fisted garbage turning what should be several long arcs of serious reconciliation and deeply meaningful character moments into two issue fan service schlock then condolences! I wish you all the best in denial, as all comic fans sail that river sooner or later and I shall join you upon it someday.
What category do I fall into? Well I think this is definitely ham fisted, but I won't kick a boar out of bed as long as they ain't a bore, and this little ditty is certainly entertaining.
Jason's sanity level: Ten out of Ten hinges affixed.
Jason't moral compass bearing: Hero.
Batman and Robin Eternal
This is a decent portrayal of Jason in his modern, much friendlier, and much more bat family integrated rendition. He has some fun moments in it, and I like his staby bracers.
I don't like this comic. It commits the most dire of writing sins: Being boring. I think about Jason every second of every minute of every day; if your comic that majorly features a good portrayal of him cannot hold my attention, then something has gone very wrong. Hopefully one of you will like it more than I do.
Jason's sanity level: Ten out of Ten hinges affixed.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Hero.
Suicide Squad: Get Joker! (Content warning for suicide, skip to the hot take if this'll get to ya - also spoiler warning cuz I can't discuss this properly without discussing the ending)
A three issue miniseries in which Jason is inducted into the Suicide Squad on a mission to kill the Joker. He's highly competent as a team leader, grounded, intelligent, and uses measured violence in a way that is satisfyingly tactical. The squad they threw together honestly has some pretty neat chemistry as a whole, and the characters were appropriately messy and quite likable.
This isn't higher on the list because it thinks it earned it's ambiguous ending, and frankly, it's wrong about that. Ambiguous endings live and die by the question they make the audience sit with - It has to be worth losing out on the emotional payoff of a solid ending.
The question of "If you left Jason in a room with the Joker and a gun with one bullet, would he shoot the Joker or himself?" is a really shitty question. Like, did the authors not realize that just on a logistical level, Jason could leave the room and find a second bullet after shooting the Joker? Like, seriously, even if we accept the premise that Joker's speech got to Jason, there are no reasons for him not to choose the "both" option. The only way I can imagine this working is if the Joker is actually the fucking Purple Man from Jessica Jones using mind control.
So we exchanged the validation of literally all our protagonists' struggles/sacrifices paying off for... the vague implication that Jason unforgivably betrayed his teammates, himself, and the entire world because he was so eager to die that he couldn't wait ten fucking minutes. If I loved the Joker I might feel differently about it, but as is, I felt insulted.
This would have been Solid Storylines or maybe even Creme de la Creme if not for that implication. It's not boring though! The rest of it up to the end is honestly pretty damn good, if a bit convoluted, and much of the ending's sour taste can be assuaged by getting out a sheet of paper and doodling Jason opening Joker's head with a handgun and then going out for icecream with the team.
Jason's sanity level: Ten out of Ten hinges affixed. He's a sad, sad lad tho.
Jason's Moral Compass Bearing: Anti-Hero, forced to be much more violent than he wants to be.
A Hot Take
I bet you thought the tentacles were the hot take! HAH! MuahahaahhHAHAHAH - Prepare now, puny mortals, to witness me defend Pill Helmet Jason AND his fashion choices!
No, I am not talking about Winick's redo late in the game, we've already been over that one. I mean I will defend Grant Morrison's flop era, three foot head gear wearin, goofy ass, unwashed ass, "how to build ur brand" reading maniac
It's time to talk about Batman and Robin (2009) #1 - #6
The interpretation of one scene makes or breaks this Jason:
If you believe he is being insincere and manipulating her into putting all her emotional eggs in the basket of his crusade, ignoring her wellbeing in favor of his 'brand', then this is probably the worst mischaracterization of Jason ever written.
If you believe he is being sincere, genuinely comforting her in the only way that he's got to deal with his own trauma, giving her real affection and not pushing her to take either option with the mask because he trusts her to make that decision for herself, then this gets Jason very right.
No matter what Morrison might have intended, I choose to believe it's the latter. This is terrible advice to give a trauma victim, but it makes perfect sense for Jason to believe that about his own trauma, and thus to pass that maladaptive view along.
He doesn't try to assure her that the mask can come off safely or that he'll get her a doctor because he really can't promise her either of those things. It would be cruel to her to pretend that he's got a solution. Jason can't undo the damage that was done to her any more than he can force a dead Bruce to kill the Joker.
Instead he offers her purpose, and reassurance that she's gonna look badass if she never does take it off, and protects her when she's in trouble.
You can claim this is just him acting out his chosen Hero role, but like, WHY would he have chosen to method act that role 24/7 if he wasn't trying to BE a Hero who protects people like Scarlet? There's nothing in it for Jason to fake this.
I also think if he was being written out of character as a manipulator we would have seen him use a romantic or sexual angle which he absolutely doesn't do.
Dickie, you are such a funny Batman, they never shoulda brought Bruce back tbh.
Instead, he seems to be taking a more parental role, in a near perfect reflection of how Bruce took him in when he was a kid. Just he's doing it his way, meaning that whenever Scarlet goes further with the violence than Jason seems to want to, he backs her up instead of chastising her.
Speaking of violence and morals, Let the Punishment Fit the Crime is a coherent moral position to take, even if you (understandably) disagree with it, or disagree with what punishments fit which crimes. It's basically the same moral position as every other version of Jason there's ever been! Like, is he even killing more people than he used to in stories like Under the Red Hood? No, I don't think he is. In fact, I would argue that Morrison's Jason is significantly less violent than Winnick's overall!
The branding thing is weird, lil annoying too after a while, but ultimately it still makes sense. And brings me around to my promised defense of his fashion choices.
First of all the symbolic importance of the fact that he wears white cannot be overstated in my mind. Will I elaborate? No, this post is way too long already lmao! Second off, it's supposed to be silly. I believe the silliness was a conscious, calculated choice, and the right one to make.
Jason doesn't believe that fear works, he's not trying for pure intimidation, and he knows that he's going to have to appeal to people in his bid to be seen as a Hero. Making himself seem big but non-threatening, a bright patch in the night, makes real sense.
Take a look at this view of Jason from Scarlet's POV when he comes to rescue her from the cops after she kills her dad:
He's got a smoking gun in his hand and he just shot two cops dead, yet we're hard fuckin pressed to find him intimidating aren't we?? Cornball dialogue, and the silliest fuckin hat in the universe, because he's not meant to be from this era, he's emulating the Golden and Silver age comics and all their goofiness. He's trying to be the older, happier, sillier batman that used to exist (at least in his head), while doing what he believes is right and necessary.
The costume makes sense dammit!
Also it just doesn't look bad, I can't provide an argument for this, it's just true!!
Also also every one of these fuckers should be wearing a helmet too, this is basic brain safety, if you're gonna go around antagonizing fuckers with guns you need to make your head at least nominally bulletproof, it's that simple!!!
Also also also the fact that he had red hair in this is oft maligned, but it gives Jason an in universe avenue to express a grievance with a super important part of the way Bruce treats him in his post-crisis time as Robin - Bruce was using him as an emotional replacement for Dick.
Morrison may not have liked Jason, but he demanded that every single iota of Batman lore be treated as important canon and that means that he also treats all of Jason's history as important canon too.
Now... do I recommend you read this? (This section was rewritten on January 28th, 2024)
Yes, with significant caveats. There's a reason I chunked this in with YMMV.
First is the Batman typical ableism of just really fucked depictions of mental illness. I normally wouldn't warn for this because everyone knows most of the rogues and will be aware of what they bring to the table, but Professor Pyg is obscure enough I wouldn't expect people to know, and the way he's written just... hurts. Like there's just something about him that is painful to read as someone that's got several schizophrenic friends who are near and dear to my heart. I would hesitate to recommend it to any of them the same way I'd hesitate to recommend Silence of the Lambs to most other trans people.
Secondly this comic is Extremely Gay (a definite positive!) however it is Extremely Gay in a way that kinda requires some onboarding and analysis to properly parse and that is actually why this post was edited:
The first time I read this comic, my impression was that it was vitriolically homophobic. Considering that at the time I had heard many things about Grant Morrison, and none of them good, I went with my gut. I put here that while I would defend Jason's characterization, I couldn't in good faith recommend something so bigoted, detailed what felt bigoted, and went on with my day.
Then a while later I saw a post that I suspect was talking about this one saying something along the lines of "How the hell could you call Grant Morrison, who gave us so many of our most iconic gay characters, homophobic? The racism and such I can understand but homophobic? No."
To which my initial response was a resounding: Wha??? Like, genuinely how was I supposed to read this and not get homophobia out of it?? But I went and looked Morrison up and yeah sure enough the guy's queer so I dug deeper and mulled it over until I figured out what the fuck I was missing. So, this section is a correction and an apology about that earlier homophobia claim. Sorry about that.
The styling of this queerness are highly akin to that of the John Waters movie Pink Flamingos which I'll let Matt Baume explain better than I ever could. This guy right here is pretty much the perfect example, Hell, he's even literally named The Flamingo.
Essentially it's queerness is all aggressive, unapologetic, and designed to be provocatively shocking, which can be jarring if you're not ready to flow with it. Also he likely had to arrange a lot of things to get around censorship, same as Judd Winick did. For instance the fact that Dick spoke the same circus lingo as the troupe of Very Queer Freakshow Workers who destroy the police precinct was meant to imply that Dick is Very Queer too. Pretty sure he would've said that in a far less convoluted way if he could've.
So, with the bulk of my initial reservations about this comic disproven... I have no choice but to straight up recommend it to anyone who thinks they can jive with this vibe of storytelling!
Jason's sanity level: One out of Ten hinges affixed. Obsessive, not taking care of himself, possessed of some really maladaptive trauma coping frameworks, completely unhinged. My condolences to his mental health, but I do love to see it.
Jason's moral compass bearing: Antihero. It's weird because this is undeniably a much darker comic, and Jason certainly feels darker, but in terms of what he actually does, and what the other characters do, his violence is honestly very tame.
So, cards on the table, here is the core of who Jason is to me:
He's got clear moral motives and a drive to help as well as harm, though violence and harm are the main ways in which he tries to improve the world.
When confronted he does not back down; he does not let himself be overshadowed or silenced. He is confident in his decisions and every bit of push back is already accounted for in his head.
Everything he does is premeditated. He is not impulsive. His plans may sometimes be unhinged but they are methodically planned.
He is painfully sincere, the way fire is painfully hot.
He desperately desires love and connection, but it will take many years of constant rejection and fighting before he is willing to accept any kind of compromise to his ethics for the sake of civility.
Under all the hurt and combativeness, he's a pretty goofy guy! He's got a sense of fun and likes to be flamboyant and silly when he can!
He's a villain, a hero, a protagonist, an antagonist, and everything between the extremes. He exists as a powerful counter-thesis to Batman, and as such DC can't ever fully answer the question of what to do with him. He exists in this waffling limbo state as his morals are debated, stretched, refuted, turned on their head. I think that makes him a wonderfully fascinating character to love.
I hope you enjoyed this and, like, go have fun reading comics!

your failteacher comic is so coolâŠ. i canât stop thinking about how masterfully textured your characterizations are, and while i had no context for the games (aside from, well, the Adult Women In Persona Curse lmao) being an ffxiv player made those gags really fun to read too ^_^
the best part of everything is that i genuinely want to try making comics about my own yuri rarepairs now⊠i was wondering if youâd ever be open to talking about your process when tackling these comics wrt the writing process and layout? you have such a strong understanding of panel composition that ive found myself admiring even small technical things things like your text and panel spacing. thank you so much for sharing your work!!
AUUYFDH THAJNK YOU .... this is so sweet đ i'm really glad you're enjoying it so much!!
if you're insane like me (been in pain like me) i totally recommend trying to make your own comics . its a very fun medium to work in!! comics have their own toolkit and language that i think is really strong and fun to play with. if you have specific questions for me about it i don't mind, but i will say that i'm kind of like ... yknow
FTyuri is drawn really loosely. i make a lot of "mistakes" (or at the very least, sub-optimal choices) in my paneling/layouts because i don't really have a plan for each page (LOL). i'm "self-taught" in the sense of "guy who reads a lot of comics and has internalized a lot of things as a result", so sometimes i do things based on intuition and vibe more than anything (and sometimes that does not work out super well!)
i guess what i'm saying is i'm a hobbyist who just kinda does whatever feels good, so my advice won't be particularly Scholarly AHJBHF but i love comics (reading AND making) a lot, so i don't mind if you're wondering about specific things i've done or how i approach them
i think... most importantly, you know, a comic is kind of a huge undertaking. it's A Lot of drawing. but it's also very fun. so pace yourself and choose a project with a length you think is manageable, but do try it! đ€đ€
the second thing is... a comic is not just a collection of pictures, right? it's important to guide the reader through each page in the correct order, while also controlling the pace and flow of the story. you place speech bubbles or eyecatching elements where you want the reader's eye to go, and use things like the size and placement of panels and the gutters between them to slow down or speed up time. i have done some FUCKED UP text box placements in FTyuri that are totally wrong and it makes me crazy whenever i see them in hindsight but THATS OKAYYYY
'cause the third thing is you're always learning new things. even if you make a not-so-great layout or even if you never actually finish the comic, you're still learning stuff that will go into your next comic. and so on...
now, here's the "maybe don't actually do what i do" part AJHREDHB
i actually don't really plan anything at all. sometimes i have a specific idea for a page layout and have it in my mind beforehand, but most of the time i just pull up a canvas and start adding panels to it willy-nilly. i also don't write anything down in advance. at most i have a loose "i want to someday draw a scene where X happens" in my mind, but all the layout and dialogue happens when i get there
YOU SHOULD PROBABLY WRITE DOWN AT LEAST A ROUGH SCRIPT/OUTLINE. AND DO SOME THUMBNAILS FOR YUOUR PAGES. ESPECIALLY IF YOURE JUST STARTING OUT
edit: check the replies for a cool link about planning out a comic!!!
planning out the scope of your project is important! i'm just not that kind of girl đ and that does result in a lot of mistakes! but the alternative is that i never get around to actually making anythign at all, which is worse to me
for me, that stuff slows me down and drains all my energy before i even start. but this approach uh. does not work for everyone and its probably best to start with a more planned-out approach đ though, if you do try to pre-plan and find it makes your brain explode like mine does, you can try just drawing it and seeing what happens. bc like. hey. it works for me . i dunno
but yeah like i said if you have a specific topic/question i don't mind answering that more specifically!!! comics is a very broad subject so it's hard to know what to say about it just like Generally hahaha. thank you so much <3

Pt36
(Can't believe I posted two of these today)
Soundwave was getting antsy, he didn't like that it was so late in the Earth day and they weren't back.
Megatron had noticed how he kept checking the computer any time a perimeter interfere had happened only for it to be a shark or dolphin swimming by.
"You know they're both grown bots they can stay out late if they want."
Megatron sighed, stretching out on his couch, he wasn't going to admit that every time Soundwave checked he peeked at the screen to.
"Why don't you go and ask Starscream and Skywarp when their trine mate intends to return him."
The Decepticon leader had barely finished the suggestion when Soundwave got up and immediately left.
"Tsk he really is obsessed, he could have just called them...though...Starscream does have a habit of purposely ignoring calls, so voice messages often have to be left."
He grumbled while flicking to another page of Thundercrackers' story. It was utter garbage, and yet he felt compelled to see what happened next because it was unpredictable.
They were also in need of an energon run, he wondered if their Orion had any peaceful quiet ways they could get energon, after all if he was to stay with them he had to pull his weight to.
Soundwave practically kicked the door in to the seekers quarters.
"SomeBODY ONCE TOLD-"
"Not now Skywarp!"
Starscream snapped getting up to check on the door and bent it back into position.
"What in the pit do you think you're doing? It's unlocked, and I haven't made any attempts on Megatron's life in three weeks. Are you that bored!"
"When is your trine mate returning Orion?"
Soundwave demanded to know, completely ignoring Starscreamâs response.
"Oh some one jealous? Jealous that he gave him a device that'd allow him to make himself human sized or human in appearance and not you?"
Starscream smirked , placing a hand on the wall.
Soundwave folded his arms and turned his head up.
"Oh maybe he's jealous because all Optimus does is argue with him, I mean gotta wonder what did your counter part do that was so upsetting that he'd sooner punch you in the play button than bed you."
Skywarp chuckled , wings flittering.
Soundwave knew they were just being shitty on purpose, the way they were posturing, no doubt, protective flock behaviour.
"You can not be sure of that. Who is to say that despite his relationship with Starscream in his Universe, he could not stop thinking of me, that he wanted me and felt guilty for it."
"Oh someone's desperately hoping aren't they, why have a stick in the slag when he can have someone as glorious as me!"
Starscream laughed hand on his chest and definitely posing like one of those beautiful evil anime women when they laugh.
(How else can I explain the pose xD)
Soundwave was not going to rise to the occasion he was better than that.
Didn't mean he wasn't imagining ripping off Starscreamâs wings and shoving them up his aft.
"Primus will you two stop acting like sparklings, one he prefers older mechs, have you two even told him by age you're barely older than him? The moment he knows his attraction to any of you apart from Thundercracker might just swim on out the window."
Skywarp went quiet, could that be true???
That made Soundwave feel extremely smug.
"Please as if I care."
Starscream returned only to see Soundwave turn around and face him
"You do, all this bravado about how you're not interested because he'd keep comparing you to that Starscream."
He stepped in closer making Star back up
"You're insecure, you don't want him to compare you because you need to be the best..."
He moved in closer and the seeker stepped back until there was no more space , the wall keeping him in place
"You're afraid that you won't be better than that Starscream and what if others find out that you can't please Optimus like that, what if he thinks you're terrible and then...what if the whole ship hears about it...just another thing to make you a laughing-
Before Soundwave could even finish that sentence he was stopped as a hand grabbed the back of his neck and pulled him only to slam him against the wall.
"Thundercracker, Prime, why are you back!"
Skywarp asked rushing over to them , it'd been Orion who'd grabbed hold of Soundwave, seeing the scene before him and the pained look on Starscreamâs face, he wasn't going to let him bully the seeker like that.
Soundwave looked up, his visor cracked but there he was, at least he knew the Autobot was back.
"Go back to Megatron and report to him, that Bumble Bee saw us."
Thundercracker was currently holding onto his stuffed animal in his hand , it looked ridiculously small.
"Did you enjoy your date Orion, you've clearly caused more trouble than you intended to."
Soundwave went to his feet and glanced at Thundercracker
His laugh was well...you've heard that one he does when he fights blaster in G1 , exactly like that.
"Seems you did not get your extra terrestial experience after all. Spike blocked by a Bee how path-"
That was it , Prime had enough, with one swift kick of his foot he got him right between the thighs.
(I love soundwave I promise)
The Decepticon made a sound like a fritzing computer before collapsing.
Skywarp took the initiative to inform Megatron that Bee had seen Thundercracker and Prime on their date and that they should no doubt be expecting a call at some point from the Optimus of their world.
Soundwave however wasn't going to admit it, he actually liked the rough treatment Orion was giving him.

My restyle for Onceler and Lana (from the little AU I made)
I wish I could just show the pics without having to edit them to look more saturated and contrasted. One of the cons of doing traditional art.

the storys versions:
they're separate drawings and they're in two different pages but they're kinda like one thing at the same time.

They're not really redesigns, maybe just Lana a bit, the thing is that I didn't know how to draw the Onceler or Lana yet and they looked weird in my drawings from last year. I started working on this story last year and I was still learning how to draw the Onceler, so the drawings I made of him look like I'm not as experienced in art than I actually am. If I have like, 6 drawings of The Onceler/lorax universe it will be too much. These are the ONLY Onceler drawings that I have. I think you can see which one was done first (ugliest) and which one was done last (prettiest). I took around one month to finish each one of these two pages because I took so long to draw, except for the new ones that were made recently in two different days.

Sometimes I inspire myself in other artists to try to understand what works best for me (what is more pleasing to look at and understand). Seeing other Onceler arts for some time and applying my own view of him (and with my hyperfocus back), I decided to draw them again and make them look more like my own artstyle and how I see them. Adding the traits that better define them in my opinion. I also added more unique accessories and design stuff to Lana so that she'll look less like a basic character and more unique and adapted to her story, like the truffula fur jacket and the hat with a truffula tuff. She's an hypocrite because she criticizes the Onceler, but forgets about morality as long as she lives the luxury life, just like he does, like a fake moralist. I think that's called visual storytelling. Oh well!!
Here's a small Onceler gambling I made in the Onceler page. It's part of the story. I want to make more Lana and Onceler drawings in this page, it's a work in progress for now. I feel like I'm posting a wip :P but let's stop worrying too much about that stuff.

Lana and Onceler AU post that I'll edit soon
Link of my Instagram so that you can see my art. I'm slowly posting each sketchbook page at once so all the posted pages are old drawings, I'm drawing so much better today and you can see them in my insta highlights.

hi, i saw your post about Dan Heng with a Female! Idol! Reader and i really loved it! <3
if you could, can you do a second part to that Dan Heng post? heâs one of my favourite characters and it would make me really happy! only again, because i loved it!!!
what i would like to request isâŠ
Dan Heng gets nagged by March 7th to get her one of these sweets in Penacony because theyâre âlimitedâ so he goes for her, with the location of the place in his phone. he pays attention to his phone to not realize in time that somebody crashed into him, he looks to see his favourite idol and he gets flustered. not only expecting him to see her, but to gain slight physical touch out of her and he finds out sheâs been chased by a bunch of fans. he acts unconsciously and takes her to a nearby alleyway, hiding her close to hide her with a bunch of fans running around, looking for her and once its clear. in exchange, she takes him around Penacony to the nicest places since she is a VIP basically everywhere due to her fame and Dan Heng may have accidentally forgotten to get March 7th her âlimitedâ sweets, in which she blows up his phone but he doesnât bother to respond.
please and thank you! <3
-> of course! The first part was so fun to write and Iâm glad you enjoyed it so much!! Iâd be happy to write Dan Heng as long as somebody requests it! This is the link to part one if anybody wants to read it! - Part 1!
March 7th. The girl he was cursing now, but the one who he would soon learn was a blessing. She had a tendency to be scrolling on any sort of social media when they were just relaxing on the expressing but never did he think he would all of a sudden be pulled out of his research and be dragged out into Penacony trying to find some limited edition sweet that she "needed". It was even worse since they had no idea where they were going since she had only seen a promo online about it, but it didn't have an address or anything on the page. Luckily with the little knowledge they had, they soon had an idea where they were supposed to be going and thank god for Google maps (or any sort of name you wanna use lol). Too bad he was so busy looking down at the directions not only did he lose March who ran off somewhere, but he had bumped into somebody. Great, now he actually had to speak to somebody. Just as he looked up to apologize to the person, he stopped. There she was. That Idol he's been researching and almost fainted when he realized that Caelus had gotten tickets to her concert, The (Name). He's never apologized faster in his life, of course a blush growing on his face, I mean he just made physical contact with the girl of his dreams!! She seemed a little fractic, looking around as she told him all was fine and that she was in a rush, and that's when he noticed all the people who were also looking around frantically. That's when he put it together, they were looking for (Name). Ignoring the buzzing of his phone he quickly pocketed it and took her hand, trying to blush any harder, and pulled her into a small little alley. He tried to explain that, no, he wasn't trying to do anything bad but make sure those people didn't see her, with a quick laugh from her end she thanked him before waiting out a while, both ignoring the obnoxious buzzing from his pocket. It was about 15-20 minutes before Dan Heng poked his head out and looked around before he gave a thumbs up, and just as he was about to pull out his phone and text March and ask where she was you spoke up. "Hey.. um, so I wanted to thank you, and I know you haven't explored all of penacony with all the issues and stuff happening so how about I take you on a little tour? I can get you into all the VIP areas too!" You asked with a smile, which in response he also slightly smiled back before leaving his phone in his pocket and following behind you as you walk out of the alley and start pointing things out. It definitely didn't feel like only a couple hours before you two were done and just strolling around the city as the sunset was slowly turning into the dark blue of the night. Eventually the two of you made it back to the alley where you started and since it was already night you both decided that it would be a good idea to go your separate ways, and with a quick kiss to his cheek and another thank you, you hurried off back towards your house. He was lost in his train of thought for a couple seconds with a blush that made him look like a tomato before he was broken out of it with a loud voice calling his name. Right. March.

Alright, normally I don't talk about drama but at this point, I'm pretty tired of it, so I'll just get this off my mind, because it's not like I'll change anything, but YALL ARE BEING SO FUCKING WEIRD WITH THIS LANDO AND MAGUI BULLSHIT.
I've never looked into it, but I'm just trying to scroll on tiktok or instagram and every few weeks I just get like 10 posts like "oh, Lando is in *place*, guess who else is there?", or I'll get a random clip of Lando in public that seems perfectly normal, oppen the comments, and everyone is saying that he's carrying her phone or something.
I can not understand why people care so much, it's not confirmed weather they are dating or not, it's literally just fans making speculations that have gone so far there are literal people who think they are in a public relationship because of so many people posting them and saying that they are 100% dating. If you want to speculate, do whatever you want, I can't stop you, but please just stop spreading misinformation.
I don't know what they are doing, and I don't care, I'm just minding my own business and you should too, whatever they're doing just let them live their lives and be happy for them or fucking explode with jealousy or whatever the fuck quietly, because I'm sick of my recommended/home/for you pages just being flodded with this bullshit.
If you want to know what I think about them, tho: from what I've seen it seems like he doesn't even interact with her but she just keeps trying to chase after him, I saw on tiktok a few months ago that she posted a picture of her infront of his apparent building or something and dating or not, I think that's freakish behaviour, and I really think she should delete that if she hasn't already, atleast for his privacy if not her decency because that is making her look like a hella obsessed fangirl. Obviously, I didn't randomly start thinking and ranting about this, so I'll tell you that what made me do this if a reel that popped up in my instagram feed from a f1 gossip accont of them being spotted togeder at a new years party in Dubai. That clip is gross to me, because you can see him ducking away from the camera and it was even mentioned in the caption, and people in the comments were laughing because "oh, he's so ashamed to be with her" or that they were holding hands (to me, that just looks like he was holding her shoulder, some people also said that she grabbed his hand when he pulled it back but I didn't see that)
Honestly, whatever, if they're dting, good for them, if not, also good for them, people alredy ruined Landos last realtionship so I completely understand him wanting to keep this secret if they are, even tho she keep hinting at it, but maybe she's just an obsessed friend, who the fuck knows?
I also won't post that clip, because I can't download it and sharing the link could show my account, so I just won't do that, which is probably for the better, we should just respect his privacy, because none of us would like being recorded 24/7 and posted online, even if that is part of his job, just let him live his life off the track.
This might be full of typos, I literally can not be bothered to read through this and check so whatever, feel free to rant about this in my comments, reblogs, or my ask box, just don't go in my dms, I'm here to speak my mind, not argue.

Definitely a Date- Lyney x Neuvillette's child!Reader
Return to File
Recovery date: April 18th, 2024
Description: Hello đ, I just wanted to say I loved the Neuvillette story and I would like to see a continuation where the relationship with Lyney and the reader was explored, but if it's not to much to ask I'd also like some more context with the relationship between Neuvillette and the readers mother.
Notes: This work was recovered in conjunction with @crystalkat6747, we thank her for her contribution. This was fun, and ended up being super long. I clearly have favorites, lol.
Part: 1 2 3 4
Word count: 2 699
Back to directory
"Iâm going out with Lyney today,â Y/n said before taking another bite of their croissant. âWe might leave the city.â
âVery well, I wonât wait for you at dinner time.â Neuvillette stopped spreading the jam on his bread. âAnd if you could, ask him to stop climbing up to your window. Heâs going to get arrested one of these times.â
Y/n inhaled sharply and began choking on their food. They grabbed their tea cup and chugged the drink before coughing some more. Neuvillette watched them carefully, pushing his chair back in case he needed to help.
âAre you alright?â
âIâm-â they coughed some more, âIâm fine,â they wheezed. âI didnât think you knew about that,â they muttered, pouring themself more tea.
âI had my suspicions, but that was how he came looking for you the other day.â
Y/n cringed a bit at the mention of the other day. It had been three days since they and their siblings had scared their father shitless, and a day since the twins had gone back to Liyue where they were currently running a small legal business. In that time Y/n had stayed close to their father and been helping around the Palais Mermonia; whether it was their way of making up for scaring him or them trying to comfort themself was uncertain.
âOn a different topic, Iâve been giving your question some thought.â Y/nâs brows furrowed in confusion. âAbout why your mother and I are no longer together.â
âOh.â
âI believe it was as I said before, my duty as your father is to protect you, and your mother did not believe we could do that here. Sheâd always taken the prophecy seriously, and as the water level began to rise she became more anxious about what might happen. However, I refused to abandon my duties here and while she could not make you leave with herâ at least you would have somewhere outside of Fontain you could go.â
âIâm guessing there was more to it?â
A small smile pulled at Neuvilletteâs lips. âYes, but it doesnât concern you.â
Y/n leaned their chin on their palm and watched their father as he flipped to the next page of the Steambird. His eyes were solemn in a way akin to how they looked after a trial. Theyâd always known that he hadnât liked the idea of the divorce, but theyâd also gotten the feeling it was partly because he blamed himself. After their mother had left Fontain, heâd made it a point to spend his lunch break with them and take them to see shows they expressed interest in as though he were trying to make up for his previous absence caused by work.
In fact, theyâd been in the audience together when Lyney and Lynette had debuted in the Opera Epiclese.
âSo, when-â
A knock echoed through the house and Y/n rushed to the front door, Neuvillette close behind.
âHey,â Y/n breathed out.
âGood morning, Y/n.â Neuvillette heard Lyney say just before he turned the corner. To his surprise, the magician was not in his usual clothes. Instead he was dressed in black slacks and a red dress shirt, sans his usual hat. âAre you ready to go?â
âYes, let me just-ah!â
Y/n turned around to find their father standing at the end of the hallway.
âEnjoy your day.â
âMhm,â Y/n nodded.
Lyney held out his arm for Y/n to take, and they waved goodbye to their father before stepping outside and linking their arm with his. Neuvillette watched them walk down the street, arm in arm, before closing the door to finish his morning routine.
âNice outfit,â Y/n hummed, leaning into the magicianâs side.
âThank you, you look good too.â
They walked past shops with windows full of mechanical toys and fancy jewelry, occasionally stopping to talk about the items on sale. Y/n shared the story of a new line of accessories they came across, and how the melusine who was sourcing the material had gifted them one of the first watches made. Lyney smiled as they went on about how pretty the watches circuitry was, which ended with them asking about Freminetâs recent inventions.
Lyney was more than happy to share about Persâ latest upgrade as they headed towards Cafe Lutece.Â
âWhat are we doing here?â Y/n wondered aloud as Lyney led them up to the counter.
âGrabbing snacks.â
Y/n shrugged, and ordered a batch of conch madeleines. When they turned back from getting their mora out, they found the exact change already on the counter. They turned to Lyney who grinned and pulled them away to a table where they could wait.
âI could have paid for myself.â
âItâs no problem, I like treating you when we go out.â
Y/n let out a fond sigh as a white box was set on the table. The young adults thanked the shop owner before Lyney took the lead once again, dragging Y/n to the aquabus station.
They boarded the Navia line and found themselves reminiscing about the recent flooding of the nation at the mention of their friend. The melusine went on with her speech, occasionally catching the interest of the two as she pointed out animals nearby. Y/n let their head rest against Lyneyâs shoulder, unable to see the way the tips of his ears turned red.
In the sky, the sun shone brightlyâ unobstructed by clouds.
âYou knowâŠâ Lyney started once theyâd separated from the rest of the aquabus riders on their way towards the Opera Epiclese, âwhen we uncovered the whole scheme behind my first show here, I had nightmares for a week straight that youâd been the one drawn.â
He squeezed their hand but didnât look at them. His eyes were trained forward as they turned away from the rainbow roses lining the path to look at him. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see the frown adorning their lips.
âWhat brought that up?â
Lyneyâs eyes flickered to their before he looked away again and started steering them towards the Icewind Suite installation.
âI figured youâd be home the other day, and when Monsieur Neuviellette barged into your room and you werenât thereâŠâ He trailed off. âIâm not saying you have to tell someone everytime you go out,â he backtracked frantically when he caught Y/n looking away. âIt was just, so unlike you to disappear like that.â
âSorry. For scaring you guys, I mean.â
The two fell silent as they took a seat along the edge of the installation. Lyney set the box of treats between them and Y/n leaned back on their hands to watch the dancing machines.
âOh, one, Iâm supposed to tell you to stop climbing up to my window before you get arrested. Apparently the other day wasnât the first time fatherâs caught you.â Lyney nearly choked on a blubber profiterole as his face turned nearly the same color as his vision, making Y/n laugh. âSecondly, why did you come looking for me the other day?â
Lyney stumbled over his words for a minute, still stuck in a coughing fit as he regretted not bringing anything to drink.
âI-â he coughed a bit more, âI wanted to tell you that Lynette and I got a show in Sumeru.â
âReally?â Y/n gasped, clapping their hands together. âThatâs amazing, when is it?â
âA few months out, but Lynette and I have to visit the venue sometime next month to make sure everything will work.â
âThat sounds fun.â
Y/n took a bite of one of the madeleines, turning back to the sweeping dance. Lyney propped his elbows up on his knees and leaned against his palms, watching them.
They looked over at him from the corner of their eye before inclining their head in confusion.
âWhat?â
âI want you to come with us.â
âFor the show?â Y/n asked around another mouthful of madeleine. They shielded their mouth with their hand before swallowing. âObviously, if you need me backstage.â
âNo, well yes, but I mean next month. I want you to help us make a unique trick for our first international show.â Y/n stopped mid bite as Lyney continued. âI know right now you just come and go as you please, and thatâs fine if you want to keep working at the Palais Mermonia, but I want to offer you a proper position in our show.â
Y/n sat up straight and stared at their half eaten madeleine for a moment before popping it into their mouth.Â
âIâll think about it,â they said after they finished it.
The answer seemed to satisfy Lyney as the magician smiled and turned to watch the dancing mechanisms. Across from them, the sun began to droop low enough that it washed out the showâ its light glancing off the shiny metal and into the audience's eyes. They took this, and the completed sweets, as a sign that it was time to move on.
Lyney once again took the lead, looping his arm around Y/nâs and leading them back to the aquabus station.
Once back in the main court, he dragged them off to hotel debord where they had dinner before he once again dragged them off without an explanation.
âAlright, I wasnât going to ask, but whatâs all this about?â Y/n laughed as the magician dragged them through the court.
Streetlight had already turned on as the sun was hidden behind the high walls of the court. Lyney was no longer holding their arm but had a tight hold on their hand as they raced through the city.
âI havenât seen you in four days, need to make up for lost time,â he laughed.
Lyney dragged them all the way out of the city before he slowed down again so they could walk side by side. He gently swung their hands back and forth, smiling as they ran their fingers over some of the calluses on his. They followed a practiced path down to the beach as the sun cast a golden glow over the landscape.
Y/n stopped suddenly when they hit the sand, causing Lyney to be yanked back, and took a deep breath. Lyney found himself smiling at this as he took off his shoes and socks.
A gentle tap at their knee lowered Y/nâs gaze to their feet Where Lyney was kneeling.
âWhat are you doing?â They asked, feeling their face heat up.
The magician grinned and carefully raised one of their feet to his knee where he began to take off their shoe.
âTaking your shoes off.â They yelped and grabbed his shoulders to balance themself as he removed the shoe and sock. âOther one.â
âI can definitely do that myself,â they laughed awkwardly.
âBut Iâm trying to spoil you,â he hummed as he set their other, now bare, foot down. He wrapped his arms around their legs and rested his chin against their abdomen. âNow how about a swim?â
âAre you trying to get me in my underwear?â They laughed, trying to ignore the heat spreading across their face and down their neck.
Y/n was so preoccupied with their own embarrassment that they missed the red tint that had also begun to cover Lyneyâs face.
âIf it makes you feel better I can strip first.â
âAh, youâre serious.â
The realization stunned them, their thoughts running a mile a minute as they wondered if this had been a date in the first place. Not that they minded, but they couldnât recall Lyney calling it a-
âAH!â they shrieked as Lyney wrapped an arm under their knees and the other around their back.
âOr we could just do this,â he laughed.
They shrieked and flailed as the deceptively strong magician picked them up and carried them over to the soft waves, then tossed them in. Y/n spluttered as they surfaced, wiping the water from their eyes just in time to watch Lyney jump in after them.
The wave hit them in the face, causing them to inhale water and start choking again.
âAre you okay,â he laughed, standing next to them in the water.
He wrapped an arm around them, patting their back as their head hung between them.
âYou jerk,â they wheezed. âNow our clothes are wet.â
They sighed and kicked off the seafloor to float on their back, and Lyney joined them. He intertwined their hands so they wouldnât float apart, and the two lay there watching the sky darken and the stars appear.
âLyney?â
Y/nâs voice was muffled by the water in his ears.
âYes?â
âWas this a date?â
The magician swung his feet under him and began to tread water as theyâd floated away from shore. Y/n did the same, but grabbed Lyneyâs shoulders to stabilize themself leaving the two practically nose to nose.
âNo, if it was a date youâd definitely know.â
âAnd how would I definitely know?â Y/n inclined their head.
âWell for one I would have brought you flowers when I picked you up, two I wouldnât let you pay for anything-â
âYou didnât let me pay for anything.â
Lyney cleared his throat awkwardly. âAnd three I would certainly hope youâd remember me asking.â
âSo your sister helps you dress up for all your outings with friends? And you always walk arm in arm and pull out their chair?â
âHow did you know Lynette helped me pick this out?â
âLyney, in all the time weâve known each other Iâve almost exclusively seen you in your show wear. For the first month we knew each other I wasnât sure you owned anything else, then I just found out youâre a bit of a workaholic,â Y/n chuckled and moved their hands to cup Lyneyâs face.
Lyney moved his hands up to their waist.
âThis isnât a date,â he said, causing Y/n to look at him incredulously. âI was going to ask you out on a date when I brought you home,â he grumbled, making Y/n laugh.
They dropped their head to his shoulder as theirs shook with every laugh. Lyney hugged their waist as they moved closer and pulled them back to where he could at least stand.
âI-â
âNope. Iâm still going to ask you, so save your answer for then.â
Y/n pulled back with a wide smile and nodded before the two wadded back to shore.
Lyney used his vision to dry them off, and they headed back into the cityâ once again hand in hand.
As soon as they arrived back at Y/nâs place, they turned around with an expectant grin. Lyney had to admit that he was less nervous than heâd expected, probably because theyâd already made their answer very clear.
He flicked his wrist, and a rainbow rose appeared in his hand. They giggled as they reached for it, but Lyney pulled it back slightly.
âY/n?â
âYes?â
âWould you do me the honor of going on a date?â
âI would love to go on a date with you, Lyney.â
Lyney didnât let them take the rose, moving it away again as they reached for it, and instead tucked it behind their ear.
âHow does dinner tomorrow night sound?â
âIt sounds perfect,â they hummed as they reached up to hold the hand lingering near their face. âGoodnight, Lyney,â Y/n whispered as they pressed their lips to his cheek.
---
âSo-â
Y/n yelped, nearly falling off the stool at their vanity when Lyney spoke from behind them. The magician was perched on their open window sill with one leg crossed over the other and the dayâs Steambird in his hands.
âGood morning,â he grinned at them. âAnyways, maybe it was a date.â
He stepped into their room and handed them the Steambird.
There, on the front page, was a picture of them watching the Icewind Suite. Lyney was leaning towards them with his chin in his palm and a lovesick look in his eyes and Y/n was watching the dance. The headline read Magic and Justice on a date?!
âLynette?â Y/n sighed.
âLynette.â
