Appearance: I am 5’3, have long black hair and green-hazel eyes and I’m very pale. In terms of fashion I normally dress in black and other dark colours as black and purple are my favourite colours, I normally wear goth style clothing, jewellery and makeup (simple and not over the top), and on special occasions I dress more elegantly.

MBTI: I am a Capricorn and personality type INFJ.

Personality: I’m normally shy when talking to people for the first time and scared to approach people. When I get to know people, I am more open and hyper around them. I really enjoy testing myself and improving myself as a whole (I have low self esteem), I also like to take care of other people and make sure they’re doing okay and I really have a soft spot for animals.

Likes (at least three things): I normally spend my time watching horror movies, playing video games, reading, listening to music and I love watching anime. My favourite music genres are rock, metal, goth and classical. I’m absolutely fascinated with Greek mythology and many countries History.

Dislikes (at least three things): I absolutely can’t stand when it’s too hot or sunny outside as I much prefer the cold. I hate being forced into social situations and when people are extremely judgmental.

Astarion loved easy prey, and that is precisely what you were to him. Someone so timid and shy, easy to manipulate and use to protect himself.

You were also a natural born leader, yes you may need some time to warm up to your companions but once that was all in order you were a force to be reckoned with. So graceful on the battlefield.

The only issue was that you were so bloody kind to every person you guys met. You were always seeking out to help others with nothing in return. What type of person does that?

What Astarion didn't realize was that he loved that about you. He was just clouding this admiration that was blooming with hate so he could hide from his feelings.

When you saw his scars for the first time, he knew he was falling, and it terrified him. You looked at his wounds, his horrible past, and just accepted him. So willingly.

He knew there had to be a catch, so to spare himself, he became cold and distant from you. Yet you always came back, and he realized he couldn't do it.

When you two explored Baldur's Gate with the group, you two were like encyclopedias. Where Astarion could tell you everything about nightlife, you could recite anything about day life.

Though Astarion loved the sun and the time he got to spend in it with the illithid in him, he couldn't deny the moon looked gorgeous on you.

Soon after Cazador's demise, you and Astarion took refuge in a small cottage near the town. There, you two created your own gothic safe haven.

You and Astarion had been dancing around your feelings for one another. Yes, he confessed he no longer saw you as just a bodyguard but as something more; he just needed time. You respected that, wanting to give the man the chance to honestly choose you. Making your way to Baldur's Gate is when the incident that caused him to finally confess occurred. You were gorgeous. The whole group would agree, and so would 90% of the people who passed by you on the street. As you walked along the the winding roads and through crowds Astarion noticed all the head nods and quick looks you were getting.

Once satisfied with your hunt for a safe place to sleep for the night, you guided your companions to the campground. Yes, there were tons of taverns around, but with Orin and Gortash switching sides, you would rather be safe than sorry. Taking your place at your tent, Astarion couldn't help but admire you. You had everything: the personality, the looks, and most of all, the morals that any man would be blessed to love. He knew he was the one that pushed you away, wanting to understand his feelings, but something about now in the present, witnessing all the looks you got, made him realize he could lose you. Mustering up the courage, he strode over to you, clearing his throat, "Hello, my little dove. How are you today?"

You smiled radiantly, "I am good; what do I owe the pleasure this evening, Astarion? Do you need some blood tonight?" He shook his head no before gently bending at the waist and whispering in your ear. "Actually, I would like to officially consummate our relationship; I can't bear for someone to steal you from me." You blushed darkly, giggling when you nodded, leading him into your tent. You two got comfortable under your rucksack and began discussing the future for both of you. Yes, Astarion liked the thought of that; both of you are no longer alone.

Sebastian thought how shy you were when you came to school was cute. He thought the big bad fifth year who took on a dragon would be some pompous ass.

However, as he grew to know you due to the countless lessons he got voluntold to do with you, he realized you were really kind.

You were powerful, though, beyond belief, and he hoped you would willingly help him with his sister. When he told you about Anne, he knew he had to have some inkling of feelings for you.

Due to his research for a cure, Sebastion loved to quiz you on interesting facts. On holiday, you two will also explore old monuments and museums in the muggle and wizarding worlds.

Sebastian hated it when you doubted yourself. You were the most beautiful and capable witch he had met, so of course, he naturally had to help boost your confidence as much as he could.

When Sebastian confessed to Ominus how he felt for you, it was a good two weeks of torture where Ominus would start a conversation with you, pretending like he would tell Sebastian's secret.

Sebastian may be a great wizard, but he was still a schoolboy at heart, so confessing to you took a long time of contemplation.

What did him in, though, was when he took you to meet Anne. You were so kind and gentle to her, helping her with the chores and other necessities.

When his uncle yelled at him, you were by his side, trying to cheer him up like you always did.

Though Sebastian's path was wrong, you knew deep down that he was doing it for a good cause. That didn't stop you from trying to convince him to stop on the dark path he was on. After the incident, it took a long time to rebuild that trust.

Once you and Sebastian were back on good terms, it was almost disgusting to Ominus how long you two could dance around loving each other, so he had to inform everyone very, very loudly.

Sebastian had been bested again in a duel by none other than you. It was crazy to him that you were so far behind everyone else, yet powerful and confident. Though he knew you disliked all the attention you got for your title as the 'Savior,' he couldn't help but agree with them. "Oi, Sallow, will you help me clean up this mess or what? We have our NEWTs to study for." Sebastion nodded, running up to help you clean up the practice dummies. Time had flowen since fifth year when you first appeared, being in seventh year you two went through so much together. Though he had to work hard to regain your trust, he knew he wouldn't risk losing you again this time.

After putting up the equipment, you waved goodbye and went to Professor Weasley's office. You were extremely powerful and intelligent, helping the staff understand the artifacts you found in school that would be placed in a prestigious museum soon. You had your life lined up for you, but where did he stand. He knew he needed to confess to you and was running out of time. He couldn't count how many times he and Ominus had discussed this thoroughly since they had made up. Sebastian had a brilliant idea as he went to his common room. Party in Slytherin.

The party was in full swing, and the partygoers were having a grand time. Sebastian, however, was keeping an eagle eye out for you. He knew how you hated social situations like this, and his goal was to sneak you out on a romantic walk to then confess. The only problem was every single one of your friends wanted to talk to you. Sebastian was growing impatient and leaned over to Ominus to exclaim his discontent. As he finished talking to Ominus, he saw the blind boy smirk before jumping up on the table before him and loudly proclaiming, "Oh Y/N, your lover boy misses you!". Not only did you and everyone know Sebastian's feelings, but Sebastian also learned that there was such a thing as an uncomposed Ominus.

Okay, so I thought I would do something special for the last day, here is a list of all of my favourite fics from all of my mutuals (I've read like 95% of these and others are highly anticipated!) I'm going to have to do this in two parts!

Buck and Eddie get trapped in an elevator, which would be fine except Buck’s skipped a few meals recently and he’s a little hungry. He’s also not exactly told his best friend everything about himself so the secret he’s been keeping is about to be revealed at the worst possible time in the worst possible way. Buck can handle it though and if it comes to it he knows what he has to do to keep Eddie safe. Eddie however has his own thoughts on the subject and sometimes secrets aren’t as secret as you think. A soft concerned voice and a hand on his arm jerks him back to here and now, “Hey you ok? You’re breathing funny.” It’s the touch that does it, it’s both too much and nowhere near enough. Eddie looking at him like that, touching him gently, it’s too close to what he wants, and he wants a lot. He wants far too much from this man and he can’t have any of it. Unable to stop himself Buck jerks away, the movement far too fast and abrupt not to cause more concern in his friend. “Buck” Eddie’s hands are held up in a gesture designed to soothe and comfort, all it does is show Buck his pulse point.

Buck was the most forgiving person Eddie knew. In fact, Eddie was pretty sure that Buck was the most forgiving person that anyone knew. He had forgiven Maddie for leaving him when he needed her the most. He had forgiven his parents for their years and years of emotional neglect (amongst other things.) Hell, he had even forgiven that psychopath that blew up the fire truck that almost cost him his career and his life. Which is why Eddie was beside himself that he was going on hour twelve of the cold shoulder from his best friend.

The Movie Trap is a good movie, entertaining and good to pass the time while you doomscroll, if you don't look for something greatly developed, a classic if you will.

It is not, necessarily, that it's a bad movie. However, it is a bad movie. The plot could have been developed in such a way that the movie had much more substance to it instead of feeling plain and with such a lower budget than it had, such as the FBI profiler and the way and reason Cooper was caught without having to tell us as if we were 3 years old. The characters are not exactly 3D, and they don't really come off as real more than puppets manipulated by the plot to cater to Cooper.

While he is 'shown' to be a charming man in control, he does not come off as that. He comes off as someone who's tethering the edge, a man so out of control of himself that the mask he's constructed for the outside world, crumbles around him like a House of Cards. He acts irrationally, or perhaps with such an inflated sense of being that his ego must be the size of the Milky Way, clouding his judgement. Is this that makes it difficult to believe such a man would escape police detection and being caught. Or perhaps, it is that those around him are too insipidly idiotic that he must be a genius by default. It is not that I dislike him, he's my favourite part of the movie, however, acknowledging that he's not quite what we are told he would be, is important.

It is also important to denote how easily those around him are willingly being led around like trained dogs. I do understand that he's meant to be seen as a manipulative and charming man, however, he acts so suspiciously and erratically that it's hard to believe.

Now, onto the obvious. It is quite more believable than the police are idiots that ignore everything despite the danger, a thing that happens in real life and which has allowed serial killers to get away with their crimes. It is a little bit more unbelievable that everyone knew they were there to caught the Butcher. And that if such an operation was made, why there wouldn't be more cameras and undercover operatives, instead of being so damn obvious that a blind and deaf man would notice. It is also such a cause of concern to this, that Lady Raven is such a great feature in this, though not unexpected due to being the daughter of the director.

It is quite stupid the way she's the focus of this, taking away time from the movie which could have been used in other more useful ways. Also a bit unbelievable that she doesn't really have security around her, and that Cooper is just able to make everyone leave him so closely to her. She's supposed to be a superstar, gathering lots of fans and having a great following. And yet, she's alone always, not even a couple of bodyguards, or assistants around her. She just walks around unprotected and without anyone who could help her. Somehow she's informed of things she shouldn't. Somehow, she takes the phone of a 30-40 something year old man, a man much larger and stronger than her. Somehow no one thinks it strange that she's the one in the wrong acting that way. None of her followers in the instalive think it strange that she's suddenly acting so oddly. Though it is not unsurprising, they are just doing what their idol told them to. It is more surprising that they somehow saved him so quickly. Also, she had the phone, why didn't she call the police, tell them Cooper was the butcher? Why didn't she allow her driver to come in with her? (Also, why did Cooper gave himself away? He didn't have to, he could have tried the angle of his daughter being so excited, barely recuperated from her illness, making it a pity party.)

And why is Lady Raven's party allowed to go unchecked? When she should have the most security and priority there.

Why is everyone making it so that Cooper realizes there's something amiss. FBI lady must not be too smart.

The songs were alright, nothing really that is that good.

All in all, I have more issues with this, but these are the main ones.

I have some questions. What are all your favourite ships whether they be canon or not canon, from books, tv shows, movies and why they are your favourite. And what are all your favourite romance tropes and character tropes and why they are your favourite.

Those are great questions and I hope to answer them in a satisfying way.

I think the best way to describe my ships is “complicated”. When they have so much against them, when it shouldn’t work but somehow it does. The first one that comes to my mind is Jax x Wendy from Sons of Anarchy.

They start off at a horrible way, she’s an addict and she’s pregnant with Jax’s baby and she overdoses, his mother has to save her and the baby. They don’t have such a complicated relationship, it’s so fascinating and interesting.

I’m of the belief that both of their lives would be much better off if they stayed together, and I’ll die on that hill.

One that I loved was jaspenor from The Royals

They started off so MESSY, she’s a Princess and he’s her bodyguard and she takes advantage of him but in the end he had the upper hand the whole time. They earned the “best couple” from the show, it was messy, toxic and deceitful but they honestly made each other better in the end.

Those are two examples that encapsulates my favourite ships and why helaegon speak to me in such an amazing level.

My favourite trope is forced marriage, or fake dating…also people being too proud of angry to talk about their feelings, is just top tier.

imagine walking on the paddock lane with your boyfriend daniel ricciardo

it was the miami grand prix. you know there will be a big audience at the miami gp. it's not only because it's america, but there will be a number of hollywood's stars guests, professional athletes, other public figures to attend the grand prix. knowing that you might have a chance to meet them, you decided to dress up a little so you'll look good on the camera.

"look, everyone have their eyes on you," you heard daniel's remark beside as both of you walked down the busiest paddock lane. there were the media and cameras, bodyguards in black with their vvips, the drivers and tons managers, public paddock-pass holders, hundred of teams' crews and fia teams.

you laughed. "i know. we're in miami, anyway."

"so you dress up."

"tom cruise is attending as mercedes guest. i plan to meet him," you answered excitedly. in your head, you already imagine to say hi to your favourite actor. maybe you'd shake hands with him and maybe he'd compliment your dress and your boots that you bought specifically for this occassion. maybe he would only smile at you, nod his head, take a picture and leave. maybe you don't care that he doesn't know you as long as you're meeting him.

"all of these for tom cruise?" daniel eyed you up and down. he was judging you-- from your open-chest dress to your high, bright, red velvet boots. this is not the first time you dressed up for someone not him. he thinks it's cool, but he also finds himself jealous every time.

"well, yeah! and i also want to look presentable on camera."

"and here i am, in a hoodie and jeans," daniel said.

you rolled your eyes at him. "you're going to change into your race suits, anyway." you had this desire to tell him that he still look good despite his merchandise hoodie, but you're having fun teasing him on the paddock.

"yeah, right." daniel sounded annoyed, in which, made you want to tease him even more instead of soothing him. however, then you realise that it's not the right time to make him angry with you. not when he has a race within 4 hours. and knowing his schedule, you might not going to see him as soon as he stepped foot onto the mclaren motorhome and for more than 4 hours.

you closed the distance between you and daniel and quickly grabbed his arm when you're pushed aside by the camera men in front of the mercedes-amg motorhome. it was scary looking at how the celebrities are being mobbed. it's even scarier than walking on the red carpet at movie premieres.

"you know what, i change my mind," you stated beside daniel once you passed the big crowd. "maybe i can try meet and take a picture with him at another event. just not this one."

you heard daniel laughed at you before he pulled you closer towards him. both of you continued walking in silent, waving and smiling awkwardly at the cameras.

1) apo and mile are so fine. And fine actors. And have good chemistry . Like all of that together. Wow.

2) p'tong did a wonderful job in the three brothers scene. And he looks like the elder brother when they're all sitting together. He's taller.

3) but jeff was the one consoling him. I kind of think kim didn't know daddy korn didn't die. Even he didn't think korn would take it so far as to fake his death . It's my feeling.

4) someone make a side by side gifset of that stan lee librarian fight in andrew Garfield's spidey movie , brooklynn 99's gina and kimchay scene. It was fuckin hilarious. But also extremely romantic. Like , kim tried to not break bottles in the beginning. 🥺 So that chay won't be disturbed or even slightly inconvenienced. 🥺🥺🤧 Lovely.

5) the shot of the theerapanyakun crest being shot multiple times during the confrontation scene in the porch🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽

6) Did daddy chan know?? I feel like he may or may not have. His death was cinematic excellence though. It kind of gave off the vibe that he won't be mourned. Maybe bodyguard deaths are not mourned.

7) it's also kind of sweet how the elderly guards like erika and chan may see kinn still as the boy who would play pretend or run through the hallways or mess with them on their duty hours and shit and i dunno it kinda hurt seeing how erika was like get kinn out of here and chan was like they're coming fuckin run I'm sorry i couldn't stop them 😢😢😢🤧

8) also we didn't get MUCH of arm , pol and pete bodyguarding because they were with tankhun and all of us like to make fun of them that they're scaredy cats and all that. But do you think, for even a minute , that Korn would place his eldest heir under the protection of weak men? No no no. Those are the best guards under their payroll. They're also the MOST LOYAL and TRUSTWORTHY ones , which is what tankhun needs. And boy they delivered.

9) bible. The scenes where he breaks down. Acting🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽

10) like if we're gonna mention acting we'd be here all day. Every single cast member did their job. The mother- creepy as hell and made us question if this was really the end , WITHOUT OPENING HER MOUTH EVEN ONCE.

Korn- master deception but gentle and calm hence we're bound to fall into his trap like a snake moves with the charmer

Gun- violent explosive loud so we're less likely to listen to him ,but more likely to suspect him.

Chay- his childlike innocence still there , but clouded by kim' s dark aura which is still shy of leaving him alone

Kim- still can play guitar and hold a gun , won't bat an eye while killing you , and many many things which even the main family spies probably haven't a clue about I'm sure.

Like all these different character portrayed with utmost care and precision. The entire cast deserves a second season.

11) most favourite scene is vegas going "or heart?" And kinn screamed YANG!!! . Like that's love bitch. 😔

12) second fav scene has to be jeff kicking ass while making all of us collectively drool.

13) pete and vegas was the couple i was most scared they'd leave as a cliffhanger or somethin but thank God. Also macau💕💕💕💕. They're a family and i like to believe that prosche protects them from afar which is how he gets the minor family to behave.

14) the rings. They got the matching rings. I'd like to believe kinn's is platinum and prosche's is gold.

15) vegas took multiple bullets. There may have been an alternative ending in my mind for like a few seconds where i thought pete would shoot the last shot to finally kill vegas coz he didn't want vegas to die by another hand.

16) i mean the sight of apo coming in with guns blazing , tits sculpting white tee and all which cut right through his biceps had me moaning so it's no wonder kinn's hand strayed a little far from the gun . 👀👀

17)tankhun had his fun. Like he wasn't afraid to kick ass from afar. Please sniper tankhun in season 2 🥺🥺

18)also people have been saying kinn is stupid and all of that and he's not fit to be a leader . I'd like you to consider .. the gun -porsche-kinn scene. He tried to talk his uncle out of it.

19) in the meeting after korn's supposed death , that's when i felt that kinn was most out of reach. Without porsche by his side his animalistic side has the wheel and that's not good for anybody. But with porsche back at his side , kinn sees reason.

20) and which is why kinn is better than korn. Kinn is not a manipulative violent asshole . He also doesn't trust his father(asks porsche "do you believe that?")maybe we'll get to see kinn finally grow out of his father's mould and be better than him in next season.

all is well..... I guess.

I have certain expectations or theories for the second season and i want them to be real so bad. Maybe another post ..... Hm...

idk how Bero has managed to survive till now but I admire his luck

I never thought I’d actually *like* reading about the economical issues of running a clan, but here we are

Wen’s showed up for half a page and she’s already made me cry

“they’d lost the ability to find solace in each other” I’m too ace for all that sex-angst, sorry

I appreciate that Hilo is a complex, flawed, deeply human character. That doesn’t change the fact that he’s an asshole.

also, the way he treated Wen was extremely fucked-up, and the book doesn't acknowledge it as well as it should have

I love that Anden’s studying medicine. Healing suits him.

celebrations! alliances! personal and professional relationships! the political situations of outside countries affecting the inner workings of the city! this is what I signed up for!

though it’s interesting that the Maiks have risen to the top, but have a reputation for being tragic - a disgraced former leader, a dead brother, an exiled girlfriend-murdering brother, and a sister whose marriage to a powerful clan leader is happy and loving, but who endured horrific injuries as a result of family revenge.

“My name isn’t Kaul, and yours isn’t Ayt, so personally, I don’t see why we shouldn’t work together on this, even if nothing else changes between our clans.” LMAO

“She must be letting them fuck her” go fuck yourself, Bero

the way time is just flowing is done so well, especially with the POV changes.

we’ve seen Niko, and we’ve seen Ru. WHERE IS JAYA?

see, this is why Wen is probably my favourite character in the story (tied with Hilo). She embodies some classic, enjoyable tropes, but she’s also savvy and perceptive and sees the world differently from other characters, not despite the fact that she’s a stone-eye but because of it.

“our new weapon against the clanless will be garden parties” I think that would make life easier for everyone

I love that although Wen x Hilo aren’t back to how they were before, they’re slowly healing their wounds, and are stronger because of it, but I’m still too ace for them.

I get Niko, tbh. Especially that feeling of growing up in a place where a deadly feud between two clans dominates your life, and then leaving that place and realizing there’s a whole wide world out there.

Niko, you fucking idiot

maybe it’s just me, but aren’t these people ... tired? they spend almost all their time going back and forth trying to run the clan, stay at the top, make sure they stay alive. don’t they ever wonder how exhausting it can all be?

Wen really has overcome all the obstacles in her life in such a quiet but resolute way, and it’s powerful.

“I’m Nonreactive to Bullshit” FUCK YEAH

what the fuck???

yeah, this feels very real and terrifying and bewildering.

it also feels like a very typical “threaten a powerful man by kidnapping the women in his life” situation and it’s not a problem, obviously, but it’s still irritating.

yeah, this is much better. Wen is released, as a misleading sign of cooperation, and Shae is with them because 1) she’s a Kaul by birth, I think they’d be far more inclined to hate her, and 2) as the Weather Man (and the one who decided to expand to Shotar), she’s the one who’s likely to have more information, which is more valuable to them. And Wen’s brilliant to have figured that out.

Does avenging the dead matter more than loving the living? Hilo clearly doesn’t think so

WHAT JUST HAPPENED?

Can I just say, I adore that what made these two assholes ally was Shae. The one who’s affected both their lives, in such different ways.

“drowning in blood and jade”

god, this ... is haunting. The clans used to being at the very top - invincible and indomitable. Now they’ve taken a huge hit, both in terms of their clans, but also in terms of their psyches. The Weather Man of No Peak was kidnapped and tortured like it was nothing. Ayt Mada, who flaunted her strength, now requires bodyguards to ensure it for her. For the first time, Shae is noticing Hilo’s silver hair. The years are going by, times are changing, it’s all different, and yet their love remains.

“What will I do? My job. As Weather Man of No Peak.” FUCK YES

although it is quite irritating that Shae and Wen have pretty much gotten the same arcs. This book isn't too great when it comes to its female characters - it kills and sidelines too many of them.

Ru is still a sweetheart, and should definitely pursue public policy like he wants to.

Bero dissolving into a self-righteous, self-pitying, and self-inflating rant talking about how he killed Niko’s father and tried to ruin their lives, hoping to go off in glory, only for Niko to say “Move on”

more talk of clan running and different political interests!!!! Niko finding his place and making his mark! Hilo honoring his son’s memory by taking interest in social causes he hadn’t before, finding strength in compassion, healing the world one step at a time, because he wanted his son to know that he was loved, and mourned, and remembered.

Jirhu has my complete respect. He’s his own person with a life that’s completely seperate from the clan drama, so it’s very refreshing and relaxing to see.

Did I mention that I adore Tia? She’s warm and artistic and full of life, the radiant young child of the family.

This plan is ingenious and Ayt Mada is terrifying

“We don’t handle this world. We make it handle us.” this is actually really inspiring lmao

IT’S JAYA

“don’t be cocky” Hilo, I really don’t know what else you expected from your daughter

Jaya has a wild friend group with their own kickass name, and she’s infinitely cooler for it.

“How did I look on TV?” Jaya has her priorities straight.

although I do think that she’s more of a caricature than a character, especially when you look at how her brothers both got complex arcs with internal conflicts, while Jaya, while definitely having emotional depth, is still the generic “cool action girl” trope rather than a fully realized person in her own right. Like I said, this series isn't too great with its female characters.

still, she’s also a mini-Hilo, and I adore her for it

“We’re old now. We’ve tried to kill each other for so long and instead by some cruel luck we owe each other our lives. Maybe it’s time we stepped away and let the next generation try to do better than we did.”

I’m curious about Koben Ato and what his view is in all this.

Koben Ato??? doesn’t seem bad??? he’s a chill dude, perceptive and progressive, and clearly hot as fuck. I tentatively like him.

Ayt Mada is an enemy who will be feared and revered for generations to come, and it's one hell of a legacy

Sévérine Appreciation Post

There are plenty of Bond girls in this 25 movies saga and I firmly believe that each of them is worthy a post of their own (I might actually consider it).

We all have our favourites when it comes to Bond girls and for very different reasons. I've always used to adore Vesper Lynd, Pam Bouvier and the one played by Halle Berry (I forgot her name, I'm so sorry).

We could also add Madeleine Swann to the list, even if she's not one of my favourites and my gay ass feels sympathy towards her for different reasons.

I absolutely fell in love with Sévérine's character when, growing up, i started understanding more of the plot and could notice details I had never caught.

In my opinion, she's a really good character that utterly deserved more screen time and appreciation.

But it seems common in these movies for good characters to have a really poor screen time (just like Q, Moneypenny and Tanner).

Fortunatly, Fanfictions exist.

Anyway, she appears for a total of five scenes or so:

In that glass building when Bond kills Patrice;

In the casino (Macau);

On the boat, after 007 escapes her bodyguards;

On the boat when they reach Silva's island;

When Silva kills her.

Despite her poor and wasted role in the movie, she's actually important for the plot: working for Silva, she knows how to get to him and she quickly becomes Bond's passe-partout to reach the man.

But, firstly, why do I think she's one of the best characters in the saga, despite having a so limited screen time?

It's all in the casino scene.

When Bond arrives there, she's already at the place and quickly notices him.

She's there to welcome whoever got to the casino to collect the money through the fish, or so i guess since she's accomayned by her bodyguards (who control her) and Silva would know if she tried any move against him.

After Patrice's death, Sévérine knows that Bond would come there, probably having some intentions against Silva. She knows 007 is exactly what she needed.

Sévérine is clever and I love clever characters.

Like every Bond girl, in the end, she ends up helping 007 to get the job done. And that's another reason why she's a good character.

She doesn't decide to help him because she likes him or something, even if Sévérine does surrender to Bond's advances; Sévérine decides to help 007 for herself: she needs a quick and assured way to escape the big distress and danger that Silva represents for her person and sees a profitable saviour in Bond.

Sévéerine also is an indipendent and strong character who's well aware of the mess in which she's stuck; she's not a sweet and helpless woman whose only purpose is to be candy for the audience: Sévérine is just another person who has found herself in the plot by accident, letting her attempt to break free from Silva to blend with Bond's mission.

Another detail that needs more appreciation is the acting.

Specially in this scene.

There's an amount of body language here to leave me, a psychology student, astonished: the way Sévérine sits, how she looks at Bond and the surroundings, the visible tremble her hand gives once 007 brings Silva into the discussion..

There's nothing left to say.

Also, the dress she's wearing: a black, sparkling and backless dress, which leaves even the thighs to show; it is meant to make her look confident, because she is, despite her evident fear towards Silva.

The general choice of colour is merely aesthetical, meant to match the atmosphere, but serves for the same purpose anyway.

Still about body language, she knows how her moves are limited by her bodyguards who are constantly checking on her; despite that, she gives it a try and approaches Bond, probably knowing that she's been into trouble since the first word they exchanged.

Sévérine keeps their conversation as casual as possible, only covering her mouth when Silva is brought into the discussion and she asks Bond for help.

It's a move I loved, since it looks suspicious and totally natural at the same time, so that no one can accuse her of betrayal because of that talk.

Sévérine was a good character that had to die too soon. But what if she had survived?

She has been on Silva's side for at least twenty years (don't ask for the calculus, I don't know the reasoning I did to come up with that), meaning that she probably knew about his plan against M and the MI6.

But even if Silva would have been enough clever to not reveal his plan entirely even to his own minions, Sévérine could have prevented so much.

"You don't know him"

This is what she told Bond in the casino.

I like to think that that quote means she knows him so well to fear him and know how he acts and thinks.

What Bond, Q and even M lacked of was the ability to predict Silva's moves: characteristic that Sévérine owns.

She could have prevented Silva from escaping, the big trip to Skyfall and M's death.

The movie would have had a totally different title and would have probably ended after Silva's capture, but it could have ended better.

Well, he sometimes does, but only if you're alone and you're having a particularly hard time with your self esteem.

He admires your stubbornness, he really does, but he won't hesitate to give you a heads-up whenever you need to tone it down for your own good.

You know those kind of people who behave like they've been married for literal decades? That's your relationship dynamic even before you're in a relationship. For Bull's squad, you two are literally mom and dad, it's not up to question, they just accept it.

taeil loves his maknaes so much, but he literally looks at her like she put the stars in the sky

and sometimes when he is practising, you’ll tell him that he’s doing amazing - just to boost his spirits - and it works

Nightwing 83 Review

guess who isn't weeks late this time. my opinion of the series is going up a little bit. it's still not great, but i'm not actively put off by it anymore the way i was after 81. not going to tag as spoilers, but be warned that they are under the cut

i’m sure you all are well aware of this but now, but dear god i love bruno redondo’s art. like, an unhealthy amount. the pink and blue is getting to be a theme with either him or just this run, but i am definitely enjoying it. the movement in this cover is clearly obvious, but well done. you recoznize right off the bat that the cover was drawn to drag your eyes down the page until you get to the bottom, but you enjoy the whole ride there.

also, redondo’s way of drawing a character in stages of action so we can see just how much they’re doing in a split second of movement is quickly becoming something i like to see drawn with dick, and any other character that has that sort of ease of movement and body sense, like cass or sin or maybe a super.

and he’s in action the entire time! there’s shot drawn just to show off a shirtless comic book character, the way nightwing is so often subjected to. he’s shirtless because he’s changing his clothes, and that’s all we see, no more and no less. very practical, very well done. i like it.

he looks so cute right here oh my god. the little squint, the hair curls. it’s adorable.

but also like. unless melinda has specifically outfitted the door spyhole so that the person on the other side can’t see dick looking through it (and in all honesty she might have) then everyone on the other side can see dick looking through that door.

bringing your attention back to the “i can’t see melinda’s fbi file oh no!! it’s redacted!! whatever can we do!!” stupidity. redacted files are child’s play for oracle, and definitely doable for both dick and bruce. so that’s bullshit.

now, melinda apparently grew up with the maroni family, then took down part of the family from the inside. the maroni family is a large and notable presence in gotham, one that bruce pays a respectable amount of attention to. he definitely would have grown suspicious when two members of the maroni family were taken down, and with some investigation, he would have discovered melinda’s plan. and it should go without saying that the majority of things you see batman doing? dick can do it too.

it’s not so much that i don’t like how clever the villains/antiheroes are getting. i don’t like how dc heroes are increasingly written as less intelligent. they seem to be relying on pure fighting skills or luck, which may be the case for a couple heroes, but has never been the case for most of dc’s big name heroes, the bat family included. it’s irritating to me to see this sort of stuff pop up as a major plot point when i know that, if dick or bruce had been written with the amount of skill and power that they canonically possess, this entire mess would have been sorted out years ago.

unrelated but dick and melinda have the same hair

this may just be me, but i was always under the impression that dick doesn’t really have a “double life???”

yes, he’s talented enough to create enough differences between robin/nightwing and dick grayson’s mannerisms, way of movement, voices, and speech patterns so that it’s very difficult to put the two together.

but nightwing has never been separate from dick grayson, not the way bruce and batman is. he’s always leaned more towards clark in that aspect: his hero persona is an exaggerated, stately, larger-than-life version of who he really is. there’s no second persona, no real “dick grayson identity” and “nightwing identity.” they’re the same person with the same goals, ideas, and skills. one just pretends to abide by the law, and one gives up pretense of that.

oh good thank god. if he’d trusted her right off the bat (hehe. bat.) i would have slapped him upside the head. at least he’s still got instincts.

gosh the colouring on this is cool. the red has enough purple and pink tones to it that it doesn’t abruptly ruin the tone of the artwork. but it’s definitely glaring enough to take the reader outside of this personal moment they had slipped into between dick and melinda, to put them back in the present where they’re reminded that oh yea there are people hunting dick down.

the next panel keeps this up too, in a less severe way. melinda’s bodyguard shows up (i forgot her name sorry :[ ) and subtly places us in the middle of an action scene rather than a private, personal scene.

laughing so fucking hard have our little vigilantes grown so accustomed to breaking into places that it doesn’t even register as a crime anymore??? tim coming in through the fire escape to pick bernard up for their date and being very much confused as to why bernard is freaking out.

i really like melinda’s shirt and now despite all the work i have to do and the fucking conference i have to host on monday i want to spend hours scrolling through clothing shops online trying to find this shirt. the mock neck/neckline is so cool i want it

so roland just assumes that a very dangerous vigilante who is highly talented in combat and a very dangerous bodyguard who is also highly talented in combat had a fight that ended with this very dangerous bodyguard being tied up and she looks completely fine? roland just assumes that her having no visible wounds or bruises means that they got into a fight and she lost that easily? uh. aight then

dick what are you doing. legitimately what the fuck are you doing. why are you posing oh my god. you are injured and tired and in absolutely no position to go hand to hand with one of main enemies. jesus christ run away or head to lower ground or something. don’t just stand around letting the floodlights show exactly where you are.

i don’t understand what he’s trying to do here??? blockbuster fully bought the story that dick fought them both, won, tried to get info out of them and failed, then hightailed it out of there. he didn’t have to draw roland out for a fight.

but it does look cool. the way the light just highlights his silhouette and the blue parts of his costume does look badass. he does get style points in my book for this.

very classic superhero line and it does sound like something dick would say in a fit of righteous rage but also it makes me laugh so hard because all vigilantes think they’re so powerful that the law doesn’t apply to them. dick vigilantism is illegal. you’re acting above the law and pretending it doesn’t apply to you. hypocritical much?

it happens so often in superhero movies, tv shows, comics, whatever and it makes me giggle every damn time.

pretty decent comeback but before i start seeing people writing blockbuster as a thug i’m going to remind you that he made a deal with a demon for genius level intellect. if this turns into another bane situation i’m going to be a little miffed. he’s a smart man, which makes him a dangerous and infinitely more interesting enemy for nightwing.

this is so horribly in character i want to scream. (or. at least. it lines up with one of the versions of nightwing i have in my head.) he’s running right towards the bullets, miraculously doesn’t get shot, while making a sort-of pun. i hate this so much. i love him.

this is cool. this art is really really cool.

he leaped from a building right towards a helicopter that’s actively shooting at him, but none of the bullets are touching him. none of the corruption of the city can touch him no matter how hard it tries, because he’s too good to be corrupted. Comic Book Logic Can Be Good Sometimes Actually.

batman’s belt what??? swiss army knife who?? sorry, i only know nightwing’s bright blue escrima.

this is one of my favourite things about heroes with exceptional abilities, even more so if the hero is human. the things they can do are so far beyond the realm of normal human abilities that it’s equal parts terrifying and awe-inspiring every time they act.

he just used modified grappling wires to hook to the door of a moving helicopter, swung around the helicopter safely without hitting the blades, gained exactly the right momentum to swing upward again right through the opening of helicopter, then fought and tied up the men before they had any idea what was happening. that’s near impossible to do.

it’s stuff like this where i just sort of sigh in contentment. no matter how many times they leave out dick’s detective skills or conveniently forget that he’s actually a master planner and team leader and make him out to be this forgetful dude who makes everything up on the fly because of his “circus roots,” at least they won’t ever take away dick’s sheer physical ability honed to perfection.

the art, too! in a few panels, dick’s drawn a little lightened or blurred. he’s moving so quickly and fighting so efficiently that he can barely be seen by the enemy. he’s got perfect form all the way through.

and THIS!

there was a helicopter that had five men shooting at him with what looks like machine guns. most people would be dead. some would run away, and be nimble enough to survive without fatal hits. there are very few people, even in fucking comic books, who can look at that hopeless situation and turn it around so quickly and thoroughly that he benefits from it instead.

i just. love nightwing.

it was funny the first time as a comic reader aware of the meme. it’s really not anymore. why the hell would you, in universe, be wearing a shirt that has a picture of your boyfriend being hit in the face by his father.

i wish i could just copy and paste this entire scene, but that would take up way too much space, so i’m just going to talk about it instead.

you gave me my name, nightwing, and you gave me some of the best advice i’ve received in my life: beautiful little throwback to nightwing’s origin. you’d be surprised at the amount of people who don’t know where the name came from, or who don’t know how much clark means to dick. and the fact that dick still looks up to clark as a hero, recognizes that clark isn’t always perfect and yet continues to hold him in such high esteem, and still looks back on advice that clark gave him fondly just warmed my heart so much.

for a man who has fearlessly stood up to darkseid, bruce will do a lot to avoid a conversation: “grrr. i’m the BATMAN. i’m so DARK and MYSTERIOUS. nobody knows the true me. no one ever will. i will be LONELY for the rest of my CURSED LIFE. such is the price of a hero. ignore my farmer himbo husband in the background”

but i don’t think there’s anything heroic about being a billionaire: another nod to how much dick follows clark’s example rather than bruce. yes, this was a very poignant and important criticism, and i think it’s wonderful that this was published in a pretty popular comic book. but the thing is, there is a way to be a heroic billionaire, but only in fictional universes. the way bruce, ollie, t’challa only ever use their wealth to help people. they donate massive amounts of money to charities that they themselves create so they know exactly how the money is being used. they hire people who aren’t likely to get jobs anywhere else and pay them much more than what a base living wage is. they use their power to help push progressive laws and social change. they are helping.

dick doesn’t fully see it that way. he spent more than half his childhood the son of a billionaire, but still believes that one could be more heroic when one doesn’t have obscene amounts of wealth. whose example do you think he followed to come to that conclusion?

superman looked up to alfred pennyworth?: i mean yea alfred may have been a wildly irresponsible guardian and one hell of an enabler but goddamn if he didn’t love his kid.

you don’t need my input. you’ve thought it all through: ooooooh this line made me grin. for so long, dick’s treated clark as a mentor and a guiding figure. he’s still seen as a kid, an up and coming, snot-nosed titan with dreams of a better world. clark still thinks of him as a kid, despite watching him grow up. but this little line was something i think dick needed sorely to hear. he doesn’t need anyone’s guiding hand on his shoulder, he doesn’t need to ask for permission. he doesn’t need clark to support him the way he did when he was a teenager. he’s all grown up now, and he doesn’t need clark’s help. i imagine it was a bit of a surprise for dick to hear that.

honestly, i couldn’t think of a better role model: ohhh but it doesn’t stop there. clark just straight up turns the tables on dick. imagine you’re dick, and you’ve looked up to this one hero your entire life, and then one day he turns to you and says that he thinks you’re so kind and smart and worthy of a person that he wants you to mentor his son!? goes to show just how much clark trusts dick.

i swear to god dick probably cries every time he hears clark compliment him because bruce is so rare and sparing with his praise that clark giving him the slightest hint of approval is just a dopamine rush.

also, now deathstroke and superman have both asked nightwing to mentor their kids. the juxtaposition is fuckin hysterical. imagine either of their reactions when they realize what kind of company they’re with

lets talk colours for a second, because i absolutely adore how classic colour tropes have been subverted in this comic, and in this general run really.

warm tones have usually (usually, not always) been associated with light and comfort and friendship and,,,,,well,,,warmth. whereas cool tones are usually used to unsettle, or make a scene seem colder and put the reader on edge. this varies if a comic only uses cool tones, or only uses warm tones, but if a comic uses both, this is generally well-used.

that isn’t the case in this run.

dark red, orange, and other warm tones have been used to symbolize danger, action, attacks. hot pink isn’t usually included in this colour group, but it’s definitely part of it in this case. in contrast, scenes that have cool colours give us the impression of slipping into a comfortable, calm scene with babs, tim, the titans, and other allies. even the beginning scene with superman has this blue, but then it transitions into something more golden coloured. dawn broke over dick, as his new idea came to light, and that was reflected in the art (and the sunrise setting.)

have there ever been times when dick’s longed for the comfort of his mask because he didn’t feel confident as dick grayson? i can’t think of any. i may be wrong, but this struck me as pretty ooc.

sure, he could be referencing the things he’s seen blockbuster pull, and the children on the streets. but “i’ve seen money used for enforcement,” sounds a little too close to dick’s entire life being destroyed by one man threatening the circus to pay protection money for me to completely ignore. and “i’ve seen the poorest and most vulnerable blamed and punished rather than assisted” becomes a lot worse when you remember dick was thrown in juvie for a couple months until bruce was able to obtain legal guardianship, and in there, not a authority figure believed him when he told them his parents were murdered.
