I’m re-watching season one with my mom and the first two episodes with Mike and Eleven really feel like the way that Eleven is being treated is how Nancy would’ve treated her, or even Karen, the obviously Karen is an adult and would have actually tried to go to the authorities, which Mike initially wanted to do until Eleven said that there were bad people after her

Basically, I’m trying to say that it feels like Mike treated her in a very familial way, in a very caregiving, nurturing way, like she was his little sibling or a younger kid that he was looking after, and a big part of that is the speech barrier between them, but he also spends time showing her toys and the La-Z-Boy and it just very much feels like everything he does for her in those first two episodes is what he would do if she were a boy. You could show most of his scenes with Eleven in e1 and e2 to someone who has never seen Stranger Things and doesn’t know Eleven’s gender and if you omitted all the times that he says “she” or refers to her as a girl, I think a fair amount of people would assume she’s a boy.

I might comment more on this when I watch more episodes because I’m rewatching season 1 with a Byler lens after being a M*leven fan on my first watch

On a more Byler front, it’s interesting to see how in the scene where Hopper speaks to the party at the school, only Mike is fully focused on Will. Dustin and Lucas get sidetracked bickering about Mirkwood but Mike just sits between them looking sorta numb or shocked or in his head

I’d also forgotten just how utterly sweet Mike is when taking care of Eleven. Like I mentioned earlier it doesn’t really feel romantic coded at all but he is just really nurturing and sweet and while Dustin and Lucas ask questions about her hair and blood on her shirt, Mike is asking about her wellbeing. It’s a cool contrast and I hope we get even more nurturing Mike in season 5 because season 1 Mike is incredible. It’s sad to see heteronormativity and internalized homophobia sort of causing him to repress that side of himself throughout seasons 3 and 4, though it does still crop up in those seasons at times

As for Byler, yes this very interesting! And it's also worth noting that it's what they do for like 2 seasons. Focusing on Mike's reactions instead on the group's reactions when it comes to Will.

They did when Hop questioned the boys, did it again when the body was found, and again when Mike noticed Will's absence, and again when Mike grew worried about Will and wouldn't leave his side, and again during Halloween, and again in their fight, and again when Will left, and you get my point lmao.

They want us to see there's a difference in how Mike handles his things with Will vs how he handles with all the other party members.

And yes, Mike was incredibly sweet to El he was.

Hello again! First of all, I just read Ch. 4 and i am shaking with anticipation! Also thank you very much for answering my last question. I hope you don't mind me asking this, but reading your "Turning Tides" series has unintentionally inspired me to try to make a story(or possibly series i don't know yet) similar to this. You know the "Chaos Born" lore you know. However, I wanted to get your permission first before getting started.

If it helps, I'll be adding my own twists and differences especially to how certain aspects of The Chaos Born. There will be some similarities but I'll be adding something new.

Instead of the name "Chaos Born" I will be calling them "Chaos Sparks."

Chaos( or at least the mention of him), Chaos Sparks, Creatures of the night, and quite possibly pirates will be included.

Shadow will be a creature of the night, but his origins will be vastly different.

Huge difference-Sonic and Shadow have already known each other at the very start of the story... But it's complicated and very angsty.

Sonic has always been aware of what he is, but that does not take away his adventurous spirit.

Instead of Shadow already knowing Rouge and Omega, you'll get to see Shadow develop his friendship with them after meeting them. Same with Sonic developing his friendship with Tails and Knuckles.

A lot of Johnny Depp movies helped inspire this fic (Not just "Pirates of the Carribean".)

Sonic is NOT the last of his kind. (I have OC's planned).

My girl Amy is going to be an interesting character indeed. With strong ties to Sonic and Shadow.

Sticks the Badger will be involved. 'Nuff said.

While the story mostly focuses on Sonic's world-lol "His World"- There may or may not be some small crossovers with a few other video game characters. Not a lot though.

The whole thing about Chaos Sparks finding Chaos Emeralds will be in there, and they are in danger of being hunted because of the gems and their gifts. But the story is mostly about Sonic and some of his friends trying to find what they're looking for.

I am currently in the process of making a pirate OC. But I promise they will not be a cheap knock-off of Leven, Grey, Jorah, and Scaro. But especially Leven and Grey!

personal gay/bi mike ramblings & other late night thoughts //

Been thinking about how I relate way more to gay Mike as a bi dude rather than to bi Mike. (This isn’t whos interpretation is right or anything) I’ve seen the post that was like both gay byler would portray different experiences under one label and show that no label outright owns a specific experience. A bi Mike’s arc would be more about choices in relation to others with less introspection and a gay Mike’s arc would explain internal turmoil and self depreciation in relation to a queer identity and the need to hide it, which would require more of it . And ofc gay people don’t own this flavor of experience but in Mike’s case would explain his actions if under that lense for me personally. Also noticed the later headcanon is more prevalent for those with a bigger Mike bias than Will which is interesting.

Also thinking about what a mess or I guess how much ambiguity there is in both Will & Mike’s characterization when it comes to their relation to their sexualities which ultimately causes people to develop strong opinions and get angry when people get their arcs or dynamics wrong. The thing is that the Duffers like ambiguity - it gives them freedom and they also don’t like to state things outright when it comes to identities and very important sociopolitical issues while trying to be “realistic” /half-neg ( ex: Karen & Nancy talking about feminism without mentioning women, the way Robin’s coming out was handled without mentioning any gay words while the show is comfortable using homophobic words )

Anyway almost got heated on a completely separate topic.

It is sometimes confusing as to what is meant to be presented as a “Will Arc” and a “Mike Arc” On the one hand Will struggles from overt homophobia from others and from Lonnie growing up, on the other hand he has Joyce, Jonathan, Mike, and the party who adore him and while I doubt Will understands that they would accept him no matter what, there’s definitely an earlier self acceptance in his identity as a hyper-visible gay man(you can see it with the Turing Project & the bravery with the painting). I define internalized homophobia as “a set of complex contradicting behaviors based on society’s homophobia and heteronormative pressures” and some people define it as “being sad that people are being homophobic to someone” I think both Will and Mike have degrees of both and sometimes it’s hard to see how much of either both characters have. And for Mike, it solely depends on how you read his sexuality thus explaining his actions and feelings. Again, it is vague which I think is humanizing and realistic.

I won’t touch the dynamics topic until the tag evolves beyond late stage fandom spoon/fork binarization of gay relationships but just noting that aspect of byler isn’t void of complexity.

One last thought for the night:

Just looking at the fandom and noticing unfortunate patterns. Mainly the desire to be right above all else and largely at the expense of collective fun and creativity which is like the main point of fandom. I think it comes mostly from having to fight the GA and m*levens to prove we aren’t crazy (insert Joyce Byers gif here) a year ago and that mentality sticking for way too long. Like the desire to to defend your thoughts and feel your feelings strongly about a topic is amazing and is another big fandom driver but at some point people getting angry for fanon, headcanons, people having fun making things in a way that isn’t popular loud accounts approved is honestly concerning. I see it a lot from the side I agree with too and it’s like. We can do better right? Not everything needs to be activism tinged?

Anyway anyway thanks for reading this far I’m passing the whole fandom edibles as we collectively rewatch the source material and resetting our very “seeing red at posts we disagree with” adled brains. 💕

listennnnnnnnnn. ppl were talking about hosegate so i just made a reference to the rolled up painting shot. i wasnt the one that noticed it first. i only knew it was a thing because of Bylers discussing it. i had the pic saved, as i was preparing a post that i scrapped that was about Will and the allegations he had, including fake stuff spread around that S3 Will would have a p*rn magazine and the speculations that Will is going to sleep around with random men in S4 and my thoughts on this plus the sexualization dramas like Byler sex in the show, Byler kiss not being chaste, writing Byler smut, Mike supposedly checking Will out, hosegate and other phallic imagery. i decided against that and now i think that was a good choice because it would drive some wild.

i never truly meant the rolled up painting thing was intentional i was simply saying what was a regular shot became dirty to me thanks to Bylers influence. i’m sorry i didn’t mean to offend anyone. i still find it funny but i feel bad for making that post. i guess i should have kept it to myself. i had no idea it would come off this inappropiate. though the characters are only 15 (i think) so that is on me for not caring how uncomfortable it could make others.

now onto the rest of your ask. i don’t know if Byler is going to be together. i don’t. i ship it because i like it. when we get the next season we will see. i willingly choose to spend my time on discussing Byler knowing i’m not really that confident in it. nobody is forcing me to do this. i know we may get queerbaited. but i don’t care.

there is that section of Bylers that got utterly destroyed by vol 2 and either converted to M!leven and now mock us for still shipping Byler (there must be a name for that phenomenon because how) or are bitter and lashing out at Duffers because they lost their faith and now Byler bad. i assume you are the second. i hope you are proven wrong because you seem heated about the topic. to the point you sent me an ask about it.

Duffers did make a lot of writing mistakes and choices i disagree with. whether Byler happens or not i do plan on discussing what i had a problem with after watching s5 because i need to see how they will handle the characters’ arcs to make a post as there could be surprises awaiting us. and talk about how i’d handle certain plotlines as a person that can’t write anything coherent.

keep in mind that Montauk, the original ST, drew inspo from It, and if there was a potential season 2 to Montauk, they wanted to straight up go the It route by having the characters grown up and some leave the town then come back when it all gets fucked up again and join forces for the second time.. they do also mention It, and Stephen King as inspiration. you can see it in the current series too. Willelmike is literally a ripoff of the love triangle between Ben, Bev and Bill. Ben’s poem and Will’s painting.. it’s so blatant. and those that watched the movies know how said love triangle ends.

Gayer Things is a great series that i suggest you need to have more faith in.

favorite/least favorite Byler and M!leven scenes?

If you follow my blog I hope you know that I'm not a fan of Mike and El as a couple. I like a few scenes, but I don't think their relationship is good for them or that they're actually in love.

Ok, if you're still reading, let me explain.

I never found them cute, not even in S1. When I watched it I didn't understand why the writers were writing such a good story set in the 80s, but with El and Mike it felt like I was actually watching an 80s show with the typical story, boy and girl kiss/end up together because... boy and girl must date. It felt wrong to me. It wasn't what ST was about. Now I understand that I was supposed to feel that way.

That being said, El and Mike are beautiful, complex characters, so these are the scenes I like.

1. El would (understand). Ok, not saying this is a Mlv scene, but Mike can be vulnerable with Will and say how he really feels. And I love what he says about El. He's right. She would understand. The funny thing, is that I think she would (and will) understand Will much better than how she understands Mike.

2. I feel for them here. El's been isolated for so long, and Mike misses her and feels guilty for what happened to her. Interestingly, Castle Byers is playing here...

3. From one look you can see the joy, the relief and all the pain this kid must've felt. Amazing (one of Finn's best performances)

4. If I remember correctly, this was actually Millie being exhausted, not El, and Finn helped her. But it's in the show, and I love it.

This s pretty much it.

My least favorite mlvn scene: 3x01. How they left their friends on Weathertop, and them making out and laughing at Hopper's face. Lol, those little shits.

With Byler, it's the opposite. There's only one scene I don't like. The dnd campaign in S3. I know it's important and even foreshadowing of events in S5, but like the rain fight it reminded me of something that happened to me. That's all I'm going to say.

Now, my favorite Byler scenes...

1. Probably my favorite scene of the show, imo one of the best and also Finn's best perfomance. The shed scene is such a pivotal moment, when we learn, along with Will I'm sure, that asking him to be his friend was the best thing Mike has ever done. It all started with Will and Mike. Their bond is special, and it's forever. They were the ones who started the first party and they will start a new one together.

2. You can feel how much they need each other and want to be close again. A precious moment that almost made me cry.

3. He's quiet today. Four words that mean so much. The fact that Lucas says He's always quiet informs us that Will and Mike's relationship is different. That Mike knows Will better that the rest of the party and that Will opens up to him. And Mike does the same, as we see in the Crazy together scene.

4. Mike's head on Will's heart. Adorable

5. Another little moment that is so important. Just a Not possible, a flirty look and Mike's smile. They don't need anything else. Steve would've felt it, the electricity.

6. Speaking of Mike's smiles, the ones in the van are something beautiful

7. Crazy together. What else can I say?

8. I love Will's sweet voice here: "It was you guys who saved me. It was you guys." Mike tries to hide a smile (he's so happy that Will is saying that he helped save him) Then Will's flirty: It always is, isn't it?" And Mike melts. It was too much for him.

Most annoying ship: St*ncy. I just hate it. What Nancy did to Steve was kind of something you can’t return from. I have seen the effects of a similar relationship on one of my irl besties and I would never wish it on anyone. I would cry if that ship happened in S5.

4. Favourite platonic dynamic: Stobin is my platonic tea. I adore Steve and Robin and believe whole heartedly that they are disabled besties. Platonic soulmates.

5. Underrated ship: Hollogrove obviously but Cunningway, Cheerscoops, Photocheer, Stargyle, and Murrlexi. Those ships are also so top tier but underrated. There are so many more.

6. Overrated ship: M*leven. Again I hate it. It is so teenage abuse romanticized. And too many people think that it is healthy or OTP. To be honest, Mike is a bit of an ick for me anyway.

7. One thing to change in canon: Destroy any hints or hopes of St*ncy or M*leven or any abusive relationship. Stop the characters putting up with it, to the extent that it is romanticized. Abuse is not good or something to be idealized. And actually include canon disabilities please.

8. One thing canon did right: Making Robin a lesbian and allowing Max and Eleven to have a strong friendship which is not focused on the boys. That trope is so overused so I am glad it was not used.

9. A thing I am proud of creating for the fandom: I am really proud of my Hollogrove stuff because there is so little content for my babies. But some of my work for @disabledbillyandsteveweek is also something I am super proud of and I can’t wait to show people.

10. A character who is perfect to me: Heather Holloway is my queen. Like she is so sweet and caring but obviously has so much depth potential. The Duffers really made a mistake not giving her more screen time. They could have done so much.

11. Most relatable character and why: Robin is the most relatable character for me. Her social awkwardness and passion for certain topics is really relatable to me. We are both band kids, lesbians and we even look fairly alike!

12. Character I hate most and why: Karen. Moral trash who willing flirted and tried to seduce a child her daughters age. She also put down other teenagers simply because she was being petty??? Like she is the adult in this situation. Even though she backed out of meeting Billy, the fact that she ever flirted with him is creepy. If you reversed the genders, the fandom would be freaking out and be like it’s so creepy!! It’s still the same situation?? Of course, it is creepy. Neil Hargrove is a close second.

13. Something I have learned from the fandom: To be more confident in sharing my opinions and work. Before I met a lovely group of people in the fandom I was so scared of being attacked for my preferences in the fandom but they showed me that despite us all not shipping or producing the same thing, we can all still support and respect each other. It really helped my social anxiety around sharing stuff, particularly for this fandom, online.

14. Three tags I seek out on ao3: I don’t actually read much stranger things on ao3 but Hollogrove, Hellcheer, and fantasy au’s are probably my top three for the fandom. I really want to see more fantasy au’s that aren’t just werewolves or vampires. I might actually write one now.

15: A song I strongly associate with otp and/or my favourite character: Pretty Brown Eyes by Cody Simpson for Hollogrove for a YouTube edit I saw. Love that song for them. Love Story by Taylor Swift is a close second.

Hello!! How do you imagine the love confession between Mike and Will in season 5? 🌈🌈🌈

Hiii Dani 💛 omg I love your ask First of all, I apologise for answering so late ✨ as always ✨ Okay, let's start by saying that I've imagined many scenarios, but I think the painting will for sure start the discussion that will eventually lead to them confessing to each other. I'm a bit conflicted because while I want byler to get together ASAP, I also want Mike to have some time for himself, too. So I'll give you two scenarios, sorry lol

If Byler gets together right after the events of Vol. 2: Mike finds out that Will lied about the painting and corners him in the basement to ask him about it. They start to fight because Will obviously doesn't want to tell him the truth, so he decides to leave when it gets too much. They end up in front of the garage again (and it's obviously a rainy day) and Mike insists until he shouts "Why did you lie?" and Will breaks down, turns around and screams "Because I love you!". Then it's just Will confessing his feelings and Mike looking at him confused and surprised. He doesn't say anything and Will leaves and hides in the cabin.

They don't get to talk the next day (I would like to get a scene where we see Mike in his room looking at the painting, staring at the ceiling, you know, letting everything sink in and realising everything) because they have to go on separate missions. Before they go, Mike goes to Will and tells him something like "Don't do anything stupid" and Will answers "I already did" and it's obvious he's referencing to him telling Mike about his feelings, thinking he's just ruined their friendship.

When they come back from their missions, Will is hurt and Mike obviously goes crazy. It's not too bad but still, it takes Will a few hours to wake up. When he does, Mike is beside him holding his hand and Mike tells him that yes, he's done something stupid and that was not telling him the truth in the van because he loves him, too.

If Byler gets together after the time skip: I have a less detailed scenario for this but I imagine that we would get some moments at the beginning of the time skip where we realise that Mike clearly has feelings for Will (he's all clumsy around him, makes heart eyes at Will and is even more protective of him, you know: usual Mike). Then the Supernatural Plot™ happens and we get some moments with high tension between them. We could get Mike looking at the painting before going into battle (kind of like remembering how this all started) and it's just them again and Mike blurts out that he's in love with him (it would be so funny to get a moment like in Pirates of the Caribbean when Will and Elizabeth get married lmao that'd be funny). Or maybe! Mike could confess his love for Will while they're hiding somewhere and it's quiet, it would be a nice contrast to m*leven.

I'm just so curious to see how they're actually going to do it, as long as they give it to us (in a nice and respectful way, thank you very much) then I'll be happy :')

Also, little side note then I swear I'll shut up: I think we need to hear them say "I love you" to each other, even though I know that the other endgame couples haven't said those words to each other, but I feel like S5 could be the season where everyone gets to say it to their faces? It'd be nice 💛 Sorry for this long answer :')

I started the show back when only season one was out so we didn’t have a lot of Byler content. I think back then it was easy (for me at least) to view any instance of Mike’s relationship with Will being different to his relationship with the other boys as Mike being more of the main character than Dustin or Lucas. We get way more M*leven scenes than Byler scenes in season one so it was easy to get attached to and endeared by what I at the time interpreted as an innocent first crush.

Then in season two, it was once again easy to get distracted by the anticipation of a M*leven reunion and also to focus more on Will than on Will and Mike, and also on learning about Max and Billy. We hadn’t really had a comparison of what Mike and Will’s friendship looked like before season two so rather than view it as different than the others’ I was just relieved that one of the boys was looking out for Will and since like everyone’s been mentioning, Mike is such a “caretaker” it made sense that it was Mike. Mike has the track record of being the one to care in this way so I didn’t really think anything of it. Then the M*leven reunion was so good (and still is even though I’m a Byler shipper now, the acting and the music is so good) and it was easy to forget about all the Byler that had happened before it.

Then season three is when we actually see M*leven as a couple and it was……disappointing. It was way more fun to watch Eleven and Max spend time together and it was so clear that Max was just healthier for Eleven to spend more of her time with than Mike, even if Max gave some bad advice at times, she had no interest in sheltering Eleven and she helped Eleven explore more “girl” interests and fashion and broadened her world. And Mike became so frustrating. Then, that scene with Mike and Will in the rain happens and it’s like……oh. Oh damn. I see.

I still didn’t ship Byler until after season four because I held out hope that Mike and Eleven could still have a healthy power couple relationship, but I think the confirmation of Will’s feelings for Mike as well as the parallel of Lucas’ clear love for Max and her clear reciprocation and how they didn’t need to exchange “I love you” for them and the audience to know……it just became hard to continue rooting for M*leven you know?

Then reading analysis and watching videos about Byler made me go, “Wait, I think they’ve been planning for Byler for a long time.”

This is so interesting to read!

I love knowing the thought process of people who at some point shipped Mil*ven especially because I never could (not even during season 2) and understanding how and why you guys shipped it is really interesting to read because I had such a different experience from what you had.

But it's interesting that I see so many people mentioning how seasons 3 and 4 put them off from Mil*ven because of how their relationship was portrayed while I never shipped them together, season 3 was the moment I started getting suspicious they were purposefully trying to show us while Mike and El didn't work as a couple.

I totally see how the rain fight and season four could have an impact on some people because those were significant moments where you kinda see all the legwork they've been doing and it becomes hard to not see that other couples have issues but are able to work through them in a healthy manner.

Run

CHAPTER 2

That morning we were gathered at a wall marked A where Olie explained we will be practicing and the sight of Levon was exciting and made her smile.

“Walter up there will be training yall one of our best guards.” Olie explained. Walter looked down and waved at us from above, and so did Levon.

“We have to go up there?” I questioned.

“Yes, don't worry about this wall and especially that rail is safe.” Olie reassured me with slight chuckles.

Walter explained a couple of rules and what not to do with a gun and demonstrated that sound can be reduced with a silencer also known as a sound moderator. Nobody looked more concentrated than Alex though. Walter turned around and gave him a signal and he took half of us to train us and see how much we learned. 

“Relax your shoulders, aim, and shoot.” Leven said. “Here.” He said grabbing, pushing my hand down and moving my finger to the trigger. 

I pulled the trigger expecting a loud sound for some reason, I closed one eye as Levon watched me and I hit the Junkie in the head and watched him fall on the asphalt. I tried again. relax, aim, and shoot. I thought to myself before pulling the trigger once again. 

“There, there, let's not show off now.” Alan said. 

“Okay.” Levon said. I handed over the gun with a smile. “No y’all are to keep the guns on you at all times and only use it when you have caught yourself in some trouble.” Levon said 

“Walter is here to show you what to do next.” Levon said, pointing at Walter.

Levon and Walter trained us one by one and showed us where to put our guns and how to hold them when you're not shooting or about to shoot something. After Olie came back around an hour later to give us an interview. Later that would tell him what job would suit us,

“Has your mind changed about here?” I asked Alan. 

“I haven’t thought about it. I've been talking to…other boys here.” He said looking down.

I could tell he was lying. She didn’t want to admit that he actually liked the place“Wow, looks like you have actually made some friends.” I said acting shocked.

“Very very funny Locklin," he said. “I saw the way you were looking at Levon.” Alan pointed out he seemed to have been watching us yesterday or maybeI was looking at him in some way but he  knew. “What do you mean?” I asked, acting like I had no clue what he was talking about as my face turned red in embarrassment.“You know what I'm  talking about.” He said with a teasing smile as he turned to watch his friends play.

“Hey Alan, catch.” One of the boys threw a ball at him. Alan briefly threw it back and ran off to go play football with his friends, a game they taught him to play.

 I was happy to see that he found other boys his age with him being 16. Locklike was one year younger than him but he sometimes seemed to be younger than her sometimes. 

“You did well at training for it to be your first time.” Levon said sitting down where we were sitting yesterday and looking at me with a smile and then booking back with a straight face.

“Thanks.” I said before turning to look him in the eyes trying to give him the look he gave me yesterday. “I know we just met yesterday. But I can’t be the only one feeling a connection in the air when we're together? Right?” Levon said. He didn’t get a chance to finish before we got called to eat.

Everyone lined up and Olie passed them their food one by one as the person went over to the next to receive a drink. Locklin thought it was nice how everything worked out in the place Locklin was told by Olie in the interview when she had referred to the place they were in as a placethey called the place Safe. Locklin liked the way things ran around here. It was nicely organized if you had to put a word on it. She couldn’t help but wonder what was on the other side of the wall that was keeping them safe but the unrevealed side of the wall, she wanted to know more she wanted to know what it was like in their world. She had unanswered questions and she couldn’t be the only one to wonder. I soon forgot about the questions after lunch and dinner. After forgetting about that I was excited to see Levon sitting in the same spot as they were yesterday. She walked over to him and sat down right next to him. She looked over at him with concern to see that he seemed sad. “What’s on your mind?” I asked.

“A lot really.” He responded, looking me in the eye’s and then gazing back at the sunset ahead of them. 

“Do you want to talk about it?” I asked him.

He was looking over at the different shades of orange and pink in the sky and I couldn’t help but watch along with him. “Me and my sister got into an argument.” He said. I couldn’t help but notice that he clenched his fists when he said that but he still kept his attention on the colors.“She's going to start going on runs,” He paused. “Runs are things we do when we start running low on food and other resources. We have lost people and…I guess I'm just scared that something like what happened to our brother will happen to her.” He finished.

“I’m sorry.” I said. I’ve never been good at the topic of losing people so I kept my words short whenever the topic was brought up. “Have you ever lost someone?” He said looking over at me. “No, well at least not that I remember.” I said pushing all the words out trying to finish the sentence. We sat in silence for a little bit. It was almost as if he felt regret from asking that question. “Imma go go with her,” he said. “We're always looking for new people considering that we're going on a rerun. It should be safe for you to go and I'm sure Olie wouldn't mind if he heard how good you did at training today.”He said looking back at me. I couldn’t say no to those eyes. “A rerun?” I asked, with a cocked up eyebrow that I did when I was confused. “We're going to places we have already cleared.” He said moving his eyes to my left then right and then looking at my lips. “I like you,” He blurted out. “I… like you too.” I said. He leaned in and gave me a kiss on my cheek, it was dark then again I was sad hearted to realize that it was time to say goodnight once again. “I’ll see you tomorrow,” He said, getting up, still maintaining eye contact. “Night” He said before turning his head and talking down the hill.

Waking up the next morning I had to hurry up and find Olie before they went on their run. I rushed out the door to see what I guess was them getting ready. I ran down to the huge trucks with empty crates on the back of them and ran up to Olie. I just startled him.

“Hello, you're in a hurry.” He said. Turning a round and booking me in the eyes before backing up a little. “Levon told me how well you did yesterday at training for it to be your first time shooting a gun.” He said with a raised eyebrow.

“Can I go on a run, with y'all today?” I asked, trying to catch my breath.

“Er,” he said, looking back at Levon and then at me again. “Consider since we're just going over the clear areas.” He said scratching his hand and turning around back at you guys helping them get ready.

After a little bit we were ready to go. I was nervous from what Levon said yesterday and I kept going over the fact that runs were dangerous. Why did he want me to come with him if it was so dangerous? I questioned myself, I still got in the truck of course I did. On the road he talked about his sister, bringing up her name. Her name was Luisa. They looked almost identical from the way he described her. “She was the woman I had seen teaching the little kids when we first came here.” I mentioned looking over at him, he was keeping his eyes on the road but glanced over every now and then looking at me. 

“About what I said yesterday,” He said looking over at me looking out the window.

 I couldn’t help but watch as the Junkies followed the car with limps, their faces looked contorted, some of them having skin ripped off their faces and limbs. I felt my stomach twist in disgust. 

“You’ll get used to it.” Levon said with a smile.

“Who could get used to a smell like this?” I asked, scrunching my nose. 

He looked at me holding his gaze with a smile. The truck came to a stop as Levon pulled over on the side of the road as the car in front of him did. “Are you okay?” He asked while pulling a machete out of his leather sheath just after stepping out of the truck. The truck looked old and the paint was a little scratched and I couldn't help but notice a dent that stood out to me. 

“Okay ladies and gents.” Walter said, "Stay together and shoot to kill.” He said holding his hot gun in his hand while pointing to the ground. 

Everyone started to walk toward the window in front of the store, some going around the sides of the building. Levon walked over to a glass window and knocked on it. “Wait.” Levon said, looking through the window putting both of his hands on the side trying to block out the light from the sides. After a few Levon reluctantly walked to the glass door and opened it ”Clear.” He announced and they all walked into the store and started to grab the things like medicine and other things. “Do you need anything in particular or can you handle yourself?” Levon said, looking over to me with a straight face. “I’m good.” I said looking over and pointing the flash light to try to see if they had anything that caught my eye. I started to walk around to look around more.

“Get down!” I heard a man yell and gunshots as I ducked down and covered my ears from the loud sound.

I crawled over to peek my head around the shelf and out the window to see what the issue was. “Get down on your knees!” The man repeated. I could feel Levons presents behind me as he was right behind me.

“You don’t have to do this.” Walter said, gradually getting down on his knees and placing his weapon on the ground and putting his hand in the air. 

I searched to see if there was anyone else there. Junkies started to appear from the bushes behind them. “The gunshot probably is going to attract the Junkies, we need to hurry up and get out of here.” Levon said, leaning his back up against the shelf. “Yeah they're starting to make their way here.” I observed. Focusing my attention on what was going on. “Look, give me what you have and nobody has to die.” He said as some other guards started to come up from behind him “I need to get closer.” I stated. Tying my hair up into a ponytail and then looking at Levon who was already looking at me. I crawled to the other shelf that was right one foot away from the one I was behind. A gunshot went off again and I closed my eyes and covered my ears with my hands again, then opened them. I was — alive.  I thought about moving my hands from my ears. I peeked my head out on the side of the shelf to see that his body was lying on the ground, and Walter got up before picking up his gun and signaled  me and Levon that it’s time to head out. “What was that!?” Levon said, grabbing Walter's shoulder and turning him around. “You're the one that said stay together.” Levon said his tone sounded serious and the way he looked in Walter’s eyes with anger. 

“Tavis couldn’t be the only one standing out here.” He said, looking up at Levon. 

 “He seems smarter than you so why not.” Levon said, giving him a nudge on his shoulder still maintaining eye contact and the same tone.

At that point everyone was watching to see what was going to happen and they held eye contact until Levon turned around and looked at me before walking back to the truck, and I followed. “He’s smarter than this.” Levon said shutting the door and messing with the gears and pulling out the parking lot before Walter could.

When we got back Alan was waiting for me to tell him what had happened considering that he was asleep when I left the house. “How was it?” He asked with his arms crossed. “You could have woke me up to tell me that you left.” He stated in a serious tone. “Well, I’m fine.” I said walking past him and avoiding his gaze. I rolled my eyes and walked past him and back to our house. I reached for the door handle though realizing I needed to wash my hands from the amount of dirt that was on them. I rushed up the stairs and into the bathroom to turn on the water and upon doing so I couldn’t help but look in the mirror and remember what had happened to my back. I lifted up the back of my shirt and turned around to see an X symbol on my back. Damn I thought as I looked into the mirror I put my shirt down and turned to face the mirror again. I took my hair down and looked at myself in the mirror. I didn't recognize myself. I looked at my brown hair and pale skin that was somewhat tan, I looked at my green eyes and the freckles on my face. Why does he like me? I thought to myself, removing my hand from my face and slamming the door behind me. I went to the only place I knew not only knowing that would be where I would find Levon but also where I could clear my head from my thoughts. “Hey Locklin, I’m sorry I put you in that situation today.” He said, putting his hand on his head and removing it while looking at the ground then at me. “I was wondering if I could go on more runs?” I said looking him in the eyes. “I wouldn’t mind. Levon saying you did well, keeping calm in a situation like that is impressive.” He said as a grin peaked on the side of his mouth. “Levon will be training you telling you all the things you need to know and how to act in a situation and what to do if you have any question you can report to him” He said with a straight face before walking off and telling me to have a good day. “Hey gorgeous,” Levon said, looking over at me sitting down on the edge of the cliff. Yale was stirring a huge pot beyond us and walked off. “Yale got a job?” I asked walking over and sit down next to him. “Yeah she’s our main cook.” He said not even looking over to her but focusing all his attention on me. “Why do you like me?” I said, tucking my hair behind my ears and looking at him with a straight face “Your beatiful.” He said leaning in and I felt my face turn red but I didn’t break eye contact with him weirdly. He got closer and stroked my cheek before leaning in to kiss me, and I kissed him back.

I'm curious as to how the crew of The Final Hazard felt around the time of Uncle Chuck's funeral and Sonic's return to Soleanna. We see the crew-mainly Leven and Grey saddened for Sonic, and both are carrying guilt for not protecting their little blue friend from Black Doom. ("Embers" has him tell Amy he feels guilty for what happened). But how do they feel about the whole adventure in general?

We know Shadow feels guilt for Uncle Chucks death. The reason this whole adventure started was because he had kidnapped Sonic. If he had left Sonic on the Fleetwood, he and his family would 've been safe at home.

How do the crew feel though? Sure they were acting on Shadow 's orders but they took joy in what they did. Does Leven feel guilt for using Tails? Does Grey still think about how he held his sword to Sonic 's neck, even drawing blood from him?

There's another thing about Grey that I'm curious about. In Ch. 19 i think, when Sonic tries to offer himself up to those pirates only for Shadow to warp them to the ship. What was going on in Grey's head? He said some things that stuck out to me.

One being how he knew about Shadow marking Sonic. Did Shadow tell him? I thought it was private. Or did they all just see the mark on Sonic 's neck and connect the dots?

And another thing-something that blew me away!- He actually said it after Sonic told him he just didn't want anyone to get hurt.

"Yer in the den of the scum of the earth and you were worried about others getting hurt?" And " i get your heart was in the right place but don't do that again. They could've done worse besides injure. "

Like Grey is a pirate! He loves being a pirate! He's proud of it! The adventure, the brawling, the swordfighting, sailing with his captain and crew! Shadow even says that Emerald Cove is everyone's favorite destination!

But now he's saying it as a bad thing - which it is, it very much is, but from Grey's pirate standards it's surprising that he says this. Is he including himself as the scum of the earth? Like "Sonic there are very bad people who'd want to hurt you! And I'm really really sorry that I was one of them!!!"

I'm probably overanalyzing and I'm sorry about that but I just wanted to hear your thoughts.

Grey started off as just an obstacle for Sonic to overcome at the beginning of the story. Just another pirate who saw him as an easy target.

But he became so much more than I anticipated. He loves his life as a pirate. To Grey, those on the Final Hazard are at a higher caliber than those who frequent Emerald Cove.

That being said he also knows that he and Sonic are from different worlds. And after what happened he thought the worst and was trying to use wording that others call pirates for Sonic to better understand.

So to the question, no, Grey doesn't see himself as scum but he understands that there are many pirates who are.

I've had this in my drafts for a few months due to how busy life got. But hey! I wanted to give myself proper time to mention what books/movies/other media helped me figure out I liked vore.

Books:

Beyonders: literally starts off with our protagonists falling into a hippos mouth and ending up in another world.

Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo: In one of the early books, Leven gets trapped in this giant seed pod thing and his little companion got this huge centaur/minotaur guy, that feels the world via taste. so levan is saved by this huge guy carefully biting through the pod and tasting levan to make sure that he's the right guy.

Kingdom keepers: one of the later books has Jaffar (yes this is in Disney) in his huge snake form, the group of hero's are on a ride passing him and he's attacking. when he "smelled" one of them was bleeding on their leg he snatched them into his mouth and started to swallow them.

Dragon watch: sequel series to Fablehaven. a dragon kidnaps one of the main characters by trapping her in its mouth. apparently dragon spit burns.

Janitors: In one of the later books, when people can be half transformed to be like these toxic brainwave eating creatures called toxites, the grime (a boneless lizard that exhales ADHD) have such vore potential. When turned giant they try to eat the kid protagonists. There as a scene where a half transformed bad guy eats one of the "allies" the protagonists had made. its later revealed that the guy eaten was fine and it was a ploy to scare the kids. the detail they went into in that scene was crazy dude.

That's all I can remember off of the top of my head.

Movies:

Hercules (Disney): I rewatched that swallow scene so much as a kid when no one else was around. my first introduction to my interest in vore.

Shrek: Lord Farquad gets eaten by the dragon. some credit scene shows him singing while in there.

Ice age, dawn of the dinosaurs: the playground scene and the aftermath of the dino spitting out and barfing up 2 kids really added to my kid brain that that was cool and sent some sort of sensation up and down my spine I liked. Also bucks story about how he escaped rooty.

The ant bully: activated g/t and vore interests. also a deeper appreciation for bugs. the shrunken kid is trying to escape a frog but isnt able to get out of reach of its tongue and gets swallowed. he talks to some other bugs just sitting in the very mild digestive fluids. one of his ant pals gets eaten with a root to make the frog burp them out.

The bad guys: duh. Snake just constantly eating stuff and creatures, also shark showing snake into his mouth when he didn't share.

Meet the Robinsons: the t-rex scene as he kidnaps Lewis and almost eats Wilbur.

Shark Tale: uses vore to scare away other sharks and create some interesting scenarios.

Shows:

The amazing world of gumball, Honestly there are more than I can really recall. but I remember the grey goo thing they raised eating their dad and sister.

Adventure time: obviously the party bears living inside the giant monster guy.

SpongeBob: again way to many to count. multiple from Patrick, many with plankton, the giant worm episode, etc.

Mickey mouse cartoon: third wheel Goofy eats Minnie at some point along with the table.

Octonauts: 2 whale shark episodes. and plenty of maw shots in general.

howdy! so i was tagged by @levencamthenone (thank you btw!) so let’s get going

name: saph

birthday: march 9 (which is the day before leven up there. so that’s crazy)

hobbies: if i’m being honest i have too many. but to start: reading, drawing, writing, d&d, and most recently, making friendship bracelets. oh and also consuming lots of anime and podcasts.

favorite book: ok get ready for a long winded answer bc i love to talk about books. so if i had to pick a single favorite book, probably Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. but that’s technically part of a series so if i had to pick a stand alone, Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. but!! if you want my favorite books ever of all time?? We as a fandom are rlly underestimating how confused and *hurt* Mike is gonna feel when he finds out Will lied about the painting like-

Quick disclaimer before I explain: this is not any sort of Will slander. I love Will Byers so much only Mike Wheeler could top how much I love Will kdkdjsjj

Ok now with that said, let’s look at the whole PaintingSituationTM from Mike’s perspective:

As far as Mike is concerned, he’s pretty much told Will multiple times that he doesn’t feel like his relationship with El is working anymore. He’s thinks he’s being clear, and he probably just assumes Will understands that since Will has *always* been able to understand Mike instantly.

Unfortunately, he’s completely unaware that Will is convinced Mike is in love with El because Will fully and wholeheartedly believes that he’s wrong for how he feels abt Mike, and Mike being in love with his sister is some sort of karma. This is what causes Will to push Mike towards El in a misguided but well meaning attempt to make him feel better. To will, it doesn’t really matter if he’s lying, because *of course* El needs Mike, who wouldn’t need Mike? Will needs Mike, and if El and Mike are in love, of course El would feel the exact same way, right?

But Mike doesn’t know any of this. All he knows is that his best friend (that he’s also in love with) is actively pushing him back into his relationship with El. Even if Mike is confused by what Will said abt El’s feelings, since it doesn’t add up with what he *knows* is happening between them, he chooses to believe Will bc if there’s anyone that would always, *always* be honest with Mike, it was Will, and Mike knows that Will would never push Mike back into his crumbling relationship with El based on only a lie… or so he thinks.

Now, Mike is once again under the impression that El still needs him romantically, hence his speech in surfer boys, where he tells El what he *thinks* she wants to hear from him in a desperate attempt to save her life. He also most likely feels like he owes it to El to try and love her romantically, since he *does* love her, and he thinks she needs it to be romantic, so he makes himself try bc if there’s anything we know about Mike wheeler, it’s that he feels like he needs to be *needed* in order to be worthy of someone’s love (someone plz give this boy a hug omfg).

Alright, keeping in mind all that messy context, let’s go back to what we know about m*leven. It’s pretty likely that El is gonna break up with Mike in the first (or maybe second) episode of s5, and she’s gonna tell him he shouldn’t have lied, and that she doesn’t need him the way he thinks she does. El’s gonna dump Mike’s ass again and enter her girlboss era (Max will be so proud). This…. Is gonna leave Mike HELLA confused. Why did El ask Will to make that painting about how she needed Mike if she didn’t??

And it’ll click for him: Will lied. Mike’s not gonna understand why, all he’ll know is that Will lied to him about El’s feelings and basically set Mike up for failure. Mike’s gonna be confused and hurt just from that alone, not to mention that fact that he’s ALSO still trying to come to terms with how he feels about Will, even though Will unintentionally gave Mike a set back for that. And we know Mike wheeler, when he gets really confused and upset about his relationship to and with Will (guys, trust me, unaddressed mutual gay feelings can make a friendship a MIND FIELD) what does he do? He gets angry and lashes out.

In conclusion, this is gonna massively blow up in Will’s face, and byler is going to have their worst argument yet. If we think the rain fight in s3 was bad, this is gonna be so. Much. Worse.

On the plus side, the fights gonna obliterate most if not all of Mike and Will’s built up miscommunication, so we’re gonna get a high payoff, it’s just gonna hurt really badly first 🥲
