I’m dead, my video player buffered at the right moment and it makes it look like Sonic, being in his near death state, is trying to give Shadow a happy hug but the guy is trying to slowly pull himself away from receiving it XD

Sigh...

Been feeling burnt out lately so turning off asks for a little bit. They will be back but I just don't have the energy to answer things... Which stinks because I love when people want to talk about my AU's. So a recharge is definitely necessary.

So in an hypothetical scenario where our naval captain, Sonic, initial mission succeed (Something that we both know wouldn't due to his lack of knowledge about magic but still), what would have happen to Shadow and his crew?

Well a few things might have happened. The most likely is they would have escaped Sonic's custody with the help of Omega. Then fled Soleanna's waters for a few years.

But if Sonic managed to drag the entire crew back to Soleanna they would be tried and hanged for the crime of piracy.

But for the undead, they would be burned by the flame.

A true bad end to the story.

I don't what you have in mind for Sonic's pirate ship. I'm guessing it's either going to be a galleon or a brigantine. Will the sails be blue?

I've been thinking of names and normally the name of his ship would be "Blue Typhoon" from "Sonic X" which is understandable. But what if the name of his vessel alluded to one of Sonic's lost loved ones. Like "The Queen Aleena," or "The Heart of _______?"

Maybe you could use musical terms- since Aleena, Sonia, and Manic loved music like Sonic does. "The Aria," "The Adagio," "Cadence," "Alto," or "The Arpeggio?"

Now I don't know the designs Amy, Knuckles, and Tails will have as Sonic's pirate crew. But I do have some ideas for our rosy banshee. Since banshees are sometimes depicted as hooded harbingers of death, maybe she wears a hood that has tatters at the end of her cloak.

Banshees are sometimes said to wear gray hoods and green dresses. Perhaps Amy wears something green under her cloak but for this AU she actually wears a purple hood which maybe has a rose emblem on her collar.

I know that a red hood would definitely be more fitting for Amy, but A) this is something different, and B) Purple is a more royal and mysterious color and it's perfect for a mysterious supernatural pirate.

Haven't decided on the ships name yet. Or character designs for that matter yet. I'm focusing on getting Tides of Darkness outlined.

But I LOVE Amy in purple! Perhaps like the fortune teller outfit that was made for Dash/forces mobile?

Here I am with even more questions regarding "Turning tides"

1- When exacly did Angel island fall? Did it happen before or after Theiosa got sold to Black Doom? (Also, do you have an age for Shadow?)

2- How does "marked" really works and why can't creatures of the night be?

3- Can creatures of the night become ghost or undead or do you need to be mortal for that?

4-You mention Theiosa's fur changing and that it could be a chaos born trait. (I'm assuming we will find out why in "Tides of darkness") According to the fanart of her, it looks like a change that happens gradually, but is it something that could happen on the spot depending on what triggers it?

Some interesting questions!

1- angel island fell long before Theiosa and Doom. I did not make a calendar system so I don't have an exact calculation of how many years before but a fair few. There were very few Chaos Born remaining at this time.

2- pureblood venom is what causes the mark. It is the chemical reaction to mortal blood that makes it. Since creatures of the night have altered blood already their blood doesn't react to the venom in the same way. (Before you ask, no I have not gone into detail about what it does to each race)

3- certain creatures yes, however the ones who are already in a title of undead; vampire, zombie, ghoul, cannot.

4- the color change in Chaos Born is caused by other reasons. In Theiosa's case it was the constant influence of Doom's venom. It was physically changing her. Another Example would be Saris, the ends of his quills were green because he was constantly around the Master Emerald.

How did you came out with "Turning tides" concept? What are your inspirations?

This! This started a chat in a discord server im in an the idea came to me. That and I'm a big fan of Pirates of the Caribbean

It was supposed to be a one shot...

After I wrote the first chapter, I couldn't stop. I just kept writing.

I didn't even completely make the outlining plot until I wrote chapter 13!

Tides literally grabbed me by the throat lol

Timeline wise, can we get more informations regarding Maria and her father? How long was he part of Shadow's crew (How many years)? How old was Maria when she got killed and what about her mother?

I'ma be honest, I didn't do the math. Just that Shadow's been a part of Maria's life since she was 5 id say her dad left the crew 2 years prior to her birth.

Maria was 12 when she was killed, mom and dad died that same day she did.

A follow-up to my last ask:

Wouldn't it be funny if Thiosa got to be called The Baba Yaga?

Baba Yaga is a witch and canonically they are a lot darker than Sorcerers... Could be how she meets Doom? hmmmm I'm going to ponder this one

A parallel of Ch.13 and some of Ch.14 of "Tides of Chaos" where Sonic's family confront the pirates and attempt to rescue him but end up losing the fight:

For "Reverse Tides," maybe instead of Sonic just recognizing Shadow's crew off the bat (pun intended 😉), perhaps Shadow gets grabbed by a member he does not recognize and assumes someone is trying to kidnap Shadow again.

Naturally, this ticks off a very protective Werehog and he goes off roaring and bearing his fangs.

I do not know who you have in mind for Shadow's naval crew- asides from Rouge and Omega of course. They're his ride or die. I understand if you choose not to use your pirate OC's as they were made to be fierce and cutthroat ruffians for ToC Shadow's pirate crew. Will you be making new OC's who are all naval officers? Or perhaps Tangle and Whisper will be a part of his crew? (Whisper in RT would have probably lost The Diamond Cutters to pirates a while ago I and worse, Mimic could've sold them out like he did in the IDW Comics). Did ToC Whisper ever knew Mimic?

Maybe Mighty and Ray will join up? (Especially since they've just appeared in "Turning Tides."

Given that the concept of robots existing in the pirate AU got introduced in "Tide of Embers," perhaps Omega gets to be a robot this time. (After all he got to possess one temporarily and had a lot of fun with it).

Perhaps he was a gift given to Gerald from Ivo Robotnik so he could have a guard robot... And also Eggman may have wanted to impress his grandfather.

(I know that Eggman in "Turning Tides" is a pure evil bastard and I'm rooting for his death for what he has put poor Sonic through.

But if you want to give him the sympathetic angle he had in the third Sonic film for "Reverse Tides," than rather than have him be the evil mastermind he unknowingly becomes the pawn who thinks he's in control of everything when in fact he's being duped by the only person he genuinely respects.

Maybe after learning of Shadow's capture, Omega chooses to leave and go with Rouge and the others to save him.

When they finally find him, Omega or someone else grab him from behind him or from behind a tree. (You know the classic snatch and grab when you cover someone's mouth before dragging them away.) Cream/Tails witnessed this and started to freak out and warn Sonic of the "abduction."

Then as Shadow is trying to leave and/or explain everything to his crew, Sonic shows up (in his Werehog form most likely) and upon seeing Omega's large metallic, clawed hand wrapped firmly on Shadow's arm, he gets PISSED!

Sonic just gets in Omega's face snarling as he grabs Shadow by his other arm (but not tightly enough to hurt him) and he snatches Omega's arm applying pressure threatening to rip off his robotic arm until the robot's forced to release Shadow. The black hedgehog is then pulled behind Sonic as the naval captain tries to stop everyone from attacking!

Sonic: (growling) "Listen pal... I REALLY don't like guns..!"

I don't think it would be surprising for Sonic and his crew to have unfortunate run-ins with Eggaman or his forces. He immediately figured that Omega was just another one of his evil creations. (Which in fairness, is partially true. He was created by Ivo and while he's not evil, he's not completely good either. He's destructive and triggers happy at the most. Just like his ToC counterpart).

At the end of their story, Sonic works up the courage to apologize to Omega for the misunderstanding:

Sonic: "I'm really sorry for almost tearing your arm off. I thought you were just a dangerous robot."

Omega: "YOUR CONCERN IS VALID. I AM A VERY DANGEROUS FOE WHO IS HIGHLY DESTRUCTIVE AND PROUDLY MAINTAINS A HIGH KILL COUNT."

Sonic: "...Umm..."

Omega: "BUT YOUR APOLOGY IS ACCEPTED. ANYONE WHO IS WILLING TO PROTECT SHADOW IS AN ALLY OF MINE."

...Umm... I don't know if you plan on making a cameo for a certain lovely tenrec woman from "Tides of Chaos." (Oh Thiosa! What a beauty you truly were! You did not deserve your fate!)

I understand if she doesn't as she was mean't for the mysterious Chaos Born lore.

It's ironic in a twisted sense. Poor girl was menaced by werewolves when trying to run away for the final time. Now somewhere in another AU an alternate variant of her son ends up in a loving relationship with a Werehog...

If she somehow ends up in the RT AU, I wouldn't be surprised if she decided to become a monster hunter after going through a similar situation. Only this time to be lucky enough to escape with her life and her sense of self. It would cause a lot of conflict but eh, you know these things work out. You could go with the Long-lost mother/Long-lost son angle for part 2 of the series and although Shadow doesn't know her or recognize her the instant thier eyes meet, boom! A connection is made. Maybe Thiosa tries to keep silent because in her mind she's keeping Shadow safe. But of course, there's a lonely, vulnerable part of her that can't resist. So she subtly tries to be around him by asking random questions that aren't necessary or important but it keeps Shadow around long enough. Shadow doesn't know why he even bothers to answers questions that he would normally deem a waste of his time, but... He's drawn to Thiosa for some reason.

That would be a banger line don't ya think!

Okay, there's a lot so let me go over your questions:

Will you be making new OC's who are all naval officers?

No, For ease of not having to make more OC's I will be using those of the Final Hazard crew, they will just be regular Mobians instead.

Will Tangle and Whisper be part of his crew?

Maybe? Or they might be Bounty Hunters ;)

Did ToC Whisper ever knew Mimic?

No she did not But perhaps in Reverse Tides

Maybe Mighty and Ray will join up?

I haven't decided what Mighty and Rey will be doing. Maybe they will be a part of Team Chaotix since that's the path people believe Darkness is heading lol

I absolutely love this idea that Omega was a gift to Gerald to show off his capabilities and Omega hates that.

Oh ho! I have ideas as to Sonic's beef with Eggman, but that would spoil the surprise!

Thiosa will be Shad's Mom once again, it's not going to be a happy one for sure but I like the concept that she's a monster hunter. (let's just say TOC Thiosa might have been better off...)

So I think we both know when we write, we sometimes change our stories ideas/direction while writing it. If there's some scrap/change ideas, can we know about them? (This question applies to all your fanfictions)

*Ponders* nothing that is coming to mind ATM. I did plan on having a sequel to The Seven Servers but scrapped it cuz it never got noticed. I did write a bit but just lost interest in the story and had no plans for the ending so it chills out in purgatory.

Hello! Simplest answer, I was tired.

When I started writing Tide of Embers I was already in the beginning stages of burnout and titling chapters took a LOT of energy that I no longer had.

It's funny I was actually thinking about this the other day. Perhaps when I have time I'll go through and title those chapters especially since people are still discovering turning Tides as a whole.

I have a few question regarding the creature of the nights in "Turning tides".

1-How do one becomes a ghost or undead?

2-Can pureblood Vampire mark other vampires? Can they feed on each others blood?

SO for Ghosts, like our favorite weapon loving guy; They were once alive but died a gruesome death. In Omega's case he died of an explosion (sadly an accident when he was experimenting.) If the soul is strong they can attach themselves to a person or object called an anchor. The Omega medallion is his anchor it was in the vicinity when he died,

For Undead like Scaro; they are usually raised by a sorcerer or witch. Usually, an undead is tied to the one who brought them back. I hadn't fleshed out his backstory entirely but his partner was a sorcerer but they disconnected their magic to him.

For your second question; No, the pureblood venom is what can create a vampire since they are already a vampire is doesn't affect them like it does a mortal. However, it can trigger bloodlust.

Yes, they can feed of one another but it doesn't satiate them for long and then the other is left weak needing to feed too.
