i've been seeing ur art on the 2015 a lot recently probably bc im following the victor frankenstein tag (for the like original novel tho cuz THATS the one im hypefixated on) but i'm starting to think maybe i ought to give the movie a chance... probably have to mentally seperate in my brain as not a direct adaptation of 1818 tho but Nonetheless
hoo hoo heehee steepling my fingers evilly. I would be delighted if my art got more folks to watch the 2015, I will joust in its favour for all of time because everyone else hates it lol. as a lover of shelley's novel myself, I would say that enjoyment of the 2015 can totally coexist with love of the novel (as you've said, it's definitely not a direct adaptation and takes a lot of liberties, which I understand is not everyone's cup, but I could also do a ton of analysis on how it does play with a lot of themes and elements in a cool and creative way, but that's a post for another time).
my best preparation advice would be to go into it not expecting an adaptation, but rather a whimsical and over-the-top retelling as a toxic queer love story, because that's the meat of it. its silly and strange and it certainly has its shortcomings and some of its ambitions fall flat, but overall it's a really fun and entertaining film imo and I'm not sure why it got such a bad rep. my partner commented that it feels very theatrical, esp james mcavoy's victor, and I wholeheartedly agree, which is what I think a big part of what makes it so fun—it's very campy. also its very pretty as a film, the sets and costumes are lovely and clearly had lots of care put into them.
I would also reccomend checking out the doesthedogdie page for the film for detailed content warnings; as one might expect there is a fair amount of gore/gross-out type horror and ableism throughout, but there are a few other things that might be useful to know beforehand if you don't mind mild spoilers. flashing lights warning for sure.
(that said, some light story spoilers ahead:)
I will say that hardcore adam lovers will probably not enjoy it as much because the creature features very little in the film, BUT again there is much to argue there, because the character relationships are reinterpreted in some new and compelling ways imo.
(end of spoilers)
anyway! if you do end up watching the film I would be happy to hear your thoughts, even if you end up hating it lol (that goes for anyone who ends up watching it after seeing my art and/or this post—all opinions welcome. can you tell I'm itching to talk more about this film lol)
#asks#victor frankenstein#victor frankenstein 2015#I have so much to say about victor and igor's relationship and lorelei and how they handled victor's family.... perhaps I should start#making rant posts lol#also so no one is disappointed: the creature in my recent art is not the creature from the film; he's my design of adam from the novel

Hi, random comment but Holy shit your half-transformed Monster Tom with the mouth in his chest is so fucking cool! Also, monsterfucker Tord is so real! Can only imagine Tord's reaction when he saw Tom like half-transformed for the first time.
THANK YOU! im like. super happy with how i draw tom, monster form ABSOLUTELY included. i put like. way too much thought into it lmao but ive always been a fan of unique creature designs so what else is new.
RRRAAH RAMBLINGS UNDER THE CUT
so ive been obsessed with the concept since i figured out what exactly happened during PowerEdd, ~2015. tom was kind of already my favorite but i only got more obsessed now that i could draw him with claws and fangs now.
(lmao old art^ lets all point and laugh)
when i finally got back into eddsworld this most recent time and started thinking about how i'd draw the guys i already knew i wanted tom to be trans, so when i started sketching i drew him with top surgery scars... which kind of looked like teeth... and the canon monster design already has a mouth on its chest/head... it just worked!!
...
ok tangent time- i dont like the canon design very much (the combined head/torso is Very limiting for poses. F!!!) but i also have never really liked the popular fanon of just making monster tom a wolf with horns and a single eye. it always feels so reductive!! do you KNOW how many monsters there are out there who are just "big dog/cat plus one fantastical feature"???? MANY!! so i was pretty determined to find a design i liked (one that was both flexible and fairly unique) before putting it in anything.
...and the partial transformation cliche of just putting accessories on a character is SUPER boring to me. so i wanted something that would be an actual halfway point to a fucked up freaky creature that is only barely humanoid.
ok back on track it took me like fuckin forever to finally get the final ~50% design together. i tried mimicking the merged torsohead of the canon monster and it just left me disappointed. :/
the single blank eye instead of the rest of the face was a god damn GENIUS move i am so proud of it im pretty sure the first time i drew the design was the actual draft sketch for the comic. because fuck making reference sheets!! the design's in your mind, right???
oh! as for the second half of your ask, the first time Tord saw Tom half transformed was right here^^!!
then a couple weeks after that i managed to find a 100% design i liked that still looked like a reasonable end point. at which point i actually made a little ref sheet! BEFORE i used the design in a comic!! it hasnt gotten much use but i still like it :)
i took a much more wyrm-like horizontal approach as opposed to the vertical design of the original, but the arms (connected to top of spine, directly behind head) and legs (close to the bottom, optional) allow it to still match the original's body plan, especially from the front view. then extra legs, big spiky scales, even larger mouth... because who wants just a dog with horns am i right!!
ahaha so basically im incredibly proud of how the design turned out so thank u for liking it :))
#RAMBLE TIME#i say shit#i say shit? more like i say diarrhea.#...because i keep saying so much shit.#no dont give me that#ew monster tom#my art#sketch#ask

The Battle for Pumpkin King #4
Here are my thoughts on the recently-released #4 issue of The Battle for Pumpkin King! As always, Spoilers under the ‘Read More’!
In this issue, the second contest between Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie for the title of Pumpkin King officially starts, where they have to stack the tallest tower of bones. They each get to pick 3 people to help them, and Jack chooses The Wolfman, Undersea Gal, and his loyal pup, Zero! Meanwhile, Edgar advises Oogie to pick Lock, Shock, and Barrel. Jack uses the advantage of Wolfman playing fetch with Zero, who flies and stacks the next bone. Boogie uses the trio’s stacking skills to help him make a much wider pile.
A squabble comes between Jack and Oogie when Zero misses a bone and it hits the Boogie’s pile. Oogie insults Jack and the competition takes a spin. Noticing Jack’s tall tower, Edgar makes the suggestion that it would be “terrible if winds came and blew it down”, then proceeds to control the wind to knock down Jack’s pile, defeating him in the competition and earning Oogie’s (cheated) victory. They’re now tied - and it dwindles down to the last challenge to determine the new Pumpkin King.
--
I will make the minor comment that I’m disappointed not to see Zero drawn as a small puppy, he looks relatively same in the movie besides maybe being a little smaller? I was also hoping Jack would pick Sally on his team, but it’s nice to see the side Residents being included and helping out! I always love to see more content of them!
Also, Edgar being able to control the wind feels eerily similar to my headcanon of my own past-Pumpkin King fancharacter, who can control/manipulate the earth and wind, being a creature from the lands. This is really cool!!! Edgar is getting worse as a villain as the issues go on. I’m curious to know what else he’s capable of and what he’ll do.
Speaking of which...
If we're going by this comic, this means Oogie Boogie has known Lock, Shock, and Barrel since they were children/toddlers. And Edgar was the one who brought them to him - to use them to Oogie’s advantage in his competition to become King. This is AWFUL and TERRIBLE and I feel so bad for these children’s futures. But I’m curious to see if anything else will come between them and Oogie!
Eagerly awaiting the next (and last?) issue of the series! Oh! This issue also came with more Nightmail, which has concept art of the characters. This has the Mayor and Sally, who has a needle and thread to tie her hair in pigtails! This is so cute and unique for her design! I love it.

Hear me out your art was on Pinterest
And people were saying that you did not read the story nor black pearl cookie’s bio. So idk in the past that you made black pearl cookie x captain caviar cookie that you made black pearl cookie romantically fell in love with captain caviar cookie so uh.. it’s somehow disappointing that I was reading through the comments that black caviar is a pro ship and more and I was traumatized so question. if you don’t play cookie run and randomly ship black pearl and captain caviar in the past then why is black pearl a mermaid instead of a siren/sea monster?
Fucking what? Pro ship? They're both sentient, adults, aren't sibs and I'm into the slow-burn enemies to friends to lovers. So idk where in fuck they got that idea. OH! And if they're talking about how BP's strictly a lesbian, so it's homophobic or sumthing; (before i speak any further, i myself also like ladies. Glados, pls call me back bb) We don't even know the gender of the ancestor BP fell for or even BP's orientation. (I headcanon Pan) For all we know, they're nonbinary. Which is how I'm treating them now. That idea only came via the first theory that our Oyster was the one who done did betray BP. Which I didn't believe even before the dreams event because of 1- Oyster's asking of Caviar to go find out why shit was disappearing in Duskgloom in the first place. I mean, if she knew her personally, why ask in the first place? And 2- Caviar mentioned seeing different eras of oyster ships littering her terf. not to mention her Bio, that I have read, stated her wrath was over a century old. So bugger off with that. And I'll have them know I have read her bio (and caviar's) AND their story event thingies and more, because I do research before I go obsessing! Even if I have never (and will never) play the game. And I want Black pearl to be happy again because that poor bitch has been through a lot- And I DO treat BP like a sea beast, not strictly a mermaid. Then again, aren't mermaids and sirens kinda the same thing just different moral alignment? They're fictional creatures of the sea, not to mention the recent info about BP's backstory describes her as a mermaid- BUT I'M GETTING OFF TOPIC! TLDR; They're stupid and just don't like my ship for dumb reasons. to which I say, look somewhere else or cry harder in someone else's sandbox.
#Asks#Black Pearl cookie#captain caviar cookie#I DO WHAT I WANT MOM#cookie run#cookie run kingdom#crk#Long post#but I feel I had to because the claim that it's a pro-ship was what was insanely fucking stupid to me and I myself HATE Pro-shippers#So being called one admittedly irked me a touch#black pearl x captain caviar#black pearl cookie x captain caviar cookie

Okay weird question but are you alterhuman? You’re giving vibes of it so I wanted to know?
I am questioning it. I might be a cat or fictionkin, but I feel like my feelings aren't really... enough? Like most alterhumans i've seen on the Internet feel like the thing/creature in different ways, and they own a fursuit/similar, etc etc, and my feelings and wishes only fit into a few of those boxes which is why I'm not really sure because I feel like other people will think it's not enough to call myself one.
So yeah! I might be alterhuman. Might not be.
I think I'm a cat
Can you identify as multiple things at the same time? Is that valid and okay?
I feel like I also am a rui kamishiro fictionkin.
Wait do fictionkins even count as alterhuman?
Maybe I'm just a furry.
also speaking of furries I love furry art so much
I do want a fursuit but 1. My big sisters would be disappointed and 2. Expensive...
I also tried to avoid thinking about my feelings related to being human/nonhuman for a long time cause most of the ppl I know always frowned upon the subject of alterhumanity and feeling like you're not a human which is why I've only actually started thinking about my relationship with what I am recently which really sucks.
thinking is so hard and confusing I hate having emotions and feelings why can't everything just be clear and straightforward

As you know, 2024 will be the Year of the Dragon according to the eastern horoscope. This beast is noble and powerful, inspiring awe. Blank doesn’t particularly inspire anything other than a good mood, but, as Taranee would say: “there are also small dragons.”
(English is not my native language, so there may be mistakes. Please be understanding)
This costume and the image itself are taken from a series with the play (“Ambush at Torus Filne”). In it we learn about how the crystal appeared, giving the guards strength. The legend of compassionate dragons who relieved people from drought overlaps markedly with another legend. From Earth.
"The Jade Emperor Yu-di organized a race among the animals to determine the order of the zodiac signs. Such a powerful and energetic beast as the Dragon had every chance of becoming the first. But when he was close to the finish line, he saw a village that was suffering from drought. He flew over clouds and caused rain to help starving people.
The dragon continued on his way, but saw another village - it was threatened by flooding. He took pity on the residents, swallowed the water and only then continued on his way.
Just before the finish line, the Dragon saw that the Rabbit was being chased by the Wolf. To save the Rabbit, the Dragon let him go ahead. And so it happened that the strong and powerful creature finished fifth in the race, after the Rat, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit."
In the "W.I.T.C.H" version, four dragons representing the elements were imprisoned in the mountains because they dared to help people without asking permission from their Emperor. It turns out that in both legends the Dragon suffered from his own kindness?
This is partly true. And in fact, this is not the worst moral, although at first glance it does not seem so. By helping someone, you may actually miss an opportunity or get into trouble. No matter how much we wish that life would encourage noble deeds more.
But altruism should not be idealized. There's nothing wrong with being aware of the risks. Belief in a “just world”, where everyone is rewarded according to their actions, very often leads to disappointment and the thought “if something bad happened to me, I probably wasn’t good enough.” And to devaluing other people's troubles.
There is no kind of universal justice in the world and no clearly working karmic slaps on the head. However, there are other people, good and not so good. What you do may resonate with them. For example, a good deed performed in spite of any difficulties. And then real magic can happen, accessible even beyond the boundaries of legends.
I sincerely wish you to find a common language with yourself, to love yourself (within adequate limits). Find a solid foundation of confidence under your feet. And then no difficulties in life will become insurmountable for you.
If after this you find the strength and time to support other people, to inspire them with your example is wonderful. If not, this will not make you a bad person. Healthy selfishness is a wonderful thing. And good deeds should not be forced. __________________________
In addition to references to the symbol of the year, the art contains intersections with a recent answer in the ask. Anyone who read the accompanying post knows.
Caleb, one might say, is preparing a festive buffet. But the bull doesn't really want to be the main dish :D
I have long been attracted to garlands with dried orange slices. They are so warm and cozy. I wanted to add them to at least one of the New Year's arts :3
This idea later developed into the concept of natural Christmas tree decorations. Still, the Middle Ages reign on Meridian. It is unlikely that there is such an abundance of plastic toys there as we have now (the main thing is not to wonder whether there are citrus fruits in this fictional world).
But I still added a garland and balloons, I couldn’t resist. Maybe the girls brought it from Earth (making sure that everything would run on batteries) :D
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thoughts about Tokyo Mew Mew (2002)!
Tokyo Mew Mew is my most recent anime watch. I watched it to expand (even more) my magical girl knowledge. It was never dubbed to Latin American Spanish (as far as I know), so there's no element of nostalgia to my feelings about the show. Also, I hadn't developed object permanence in 2002, so I wouldn't have been watching anime anyway. I haven't read the manga or watched the newer version. I watched around two episodes, but I didn't like it enough to continue.
In short, I didn't love Tokyo Mew Mew. Mostly because I am not part of the target audience. The plot, the dialogue, it's all kinda flat and designed to be easy to follow for children. I believe it might be better enjoyed if you are around 11 or 13 years old. Under the cut, you can read some specific thoughts I had about the things I liked or didn't like.
Thanks for reading!
-Let's begin with the stuff I didn't like: the art style. Colors are way too saturated. The chimera anima creature design looks rushed... The proportions of the characters are inconsistent. Sometimes their eyes and hair are huge. I don't think the Mew Mew costumes are ugly, but they aren't pretty either. They are ok. The girls have appealing enough designs. Now, the guys. Damn, aren't they ugly? What do you mean the girls are constantly blushing or having crushes on these guys? None of them have appealing designs. The only one who is nice to look at is Aoyama.
-Again, the plot and themes are quite superficial. There are hints of deeper themes that never get developed. They want Zakuro to be an emotionally intelligent character, but most times she's only pointing out obvious stuff that the rest of the characters are too stupid to get. She had a point when she mentions how they are being forced to be Mew Mews, but she ends up joining the team very easily and the topic is forgotten.
-The guys, again, are so creepy sometimes. I am not even talking about Kishu, he is supposed to be creepy, I know. I'm talking about the blonde guy and the butler guy whose names I didn't care to learn. Especially around the episodes that revolve around Ichigo turning into a cat. What do you mean they are just allowed to say they will 'help her de-transform'? Ugh.
-Now, things I'm neutral about but want to mention: I really thought the blonde guy and the butler guy would be gay for each other. I was expecting a Touya/Yukito dynamic from them. They even had to have an episode making clear the butler is attracted to women. Haha, funny.
-One detail I found satisfying is that the passing of time is consistent. In one episode, they are celebrating Christmas and some episodes later they are celebrating Valentine's Day. Nice.
-The opening and ending songs are cool.
-I didn't love it, but I still liked it better than the newer version.
-Things I liked: Aoyama! The concept behind his character is really cool. It wasn't executed in a particularly good way, but I really appreciate the ideas behind it. His design is so generic and inofensive that you think there is no way he'll be relevant to the fight later on. They even foreshadow Deep Blue a bit when Aoyama expresses his slightly eco-fascistic views on humanity. I like that he admired Ichigo the same way Ichigo admired him from afar. His monologue about being bored and tired of pretending to be a perfect kid to avoid disappointing the people around him… unexpectedly relatable and sad to be in this show.
-Also, Ichigo and Aoyama's relationship is very wholesome. No drama, no misunderstandings, no secrets kept for long to create cheap drama. It felt refreshing to watch a romance between two kids just trying their best to be good to one another, and creating conflict for them in other ways. Very nice.
-Zakuro is the coolest Mew Mew, Mint is my favorite, but Pudding is the best. Sorry Lettuce, I kind of don't care about you.
-Mint is my favorite because she is a mean, spoiled, rich girl who learns to accept that she wants friends, to be loved, and to fight alongside others. And my brain just automatically roots for those kinds of characters. Mint even gets to telenovela-slap the main character to remind her of what is important. I have to accept it… that's cinema… Also, she's a lesbian.
-Pudding is the best character. That episode where she's sick, and it's revealed she provides for and takes care of her siblings all on her own… It's probably one of the best episodes of the whole show. It reframes how we met her as a street performer asking Ichigo for money. Ah, and she cries while asking the nearest adult if she can call her mom for a moment… Again, unexpectedly mature coming from this show.
And... I think that's all! Thanks for reading if you made it this far ^^

Ask game round 2 (if that’s ok)
✨for fruhand because I love that name so much you don’t even know djsjdndndn
🌂 🧠 free for all any oc or more than one I just love hearing about them and learning bout them
Hope it’s ok to do this again! If not no pressure! I just love hearing about them!
EE LETS GOOOOO
✨: How did you come up with the OC’s name? - i think this will disappoint you but its just from a half-elf fantasy name generator. both his first and last name (fruhand arroway) are from it. i was very bad at making names at the time. however now i consider myself good at coming up with random ass fucking names like grunkuff
🌂: What genre do they belong in? - gonna use bitsy (all pronouns. i mean literally every pronoun can be used for them) for this one (my skyrim oc that made her way into rottmnt. as all of my ocs eventually do)
she's in a fantasy genre id say since hes from skyrim
🧠: What do you like most about the OC? - i'm gonna be mysterious and talk abt fru's second universe and ocs in it that i dont think ive posted/talked about here much or at all. lucy, sif, chris, basil, badger, ruin, and ofc fru! i dont have any recent drawings of them (besides fru) so here's some older designs
prepare for info i love talking abt these guys. not gonna go super lore crazy but instead will talk abt how much i love these fuckers
PICTURED ABOVE: lucy (albino turkey vulture), basil (snake), badger (cat lynx creature on four legs), ruin (fru look-alike), sif (cat), chris (cougar elf in the fifth image) and ofc fru (lion elf in the last 3 images)
lucy, she/her: lucy was a dnd character of mine! she was an albino turkey vulture aarakocra cleric with a service dog named bear (who's still around I just dont have him on this post). she's dating sif! lucy was a huge source of joy for me when i was younger. i was obsessed with her. shes my sweet girl and i love her to death. her relationship with her dog bear is one of my favorite things ive done with characters i think theyre so sweet
sif, she/he/they: my silly girl. my absolute goober. sif was a dnd character that never got used unfortunately. they were a tabaxi monk. she's dating lucy!! i dont have much to say abt him bc i never really went crazy with her lore but i love her sm. she was so fun to draw. i need to get her into rottmnt
chris, she/they: chris ended up being almost a sister to fru. she's so fun. she was also originally a dnd character, but she was a human. i think she was a rogue?? im not sure. they have a vial of blood on a necklace around their neck. dont ask where it came from. she meant a lot to me when i first made her and i vented a lot in my art of her. i was goin through some hard times back then man LMAOO. this was back in 2020
basil, she/it/they: ok this ones kinda crazy. basil isnt technically a snake, she just takes the form of one. it's a shadow god, one that was cast out and sent to live among the mortals. she follows fru around. they were in a relationship with badger (who is also a shadow god taking the form of a lynx creature) but they split up after being cast out. basil holds the star artifact (ignore the drawing of her with the sun thats wrong. fru has the sun). basil was such a blast to draw when i first made her and to this day sometimes i find myself doodling them
badger, he/it/they: badger is one of the "villains" of the story. they, as mentioned before, are a shadow god that was cast out and sent into the mortal realm. after his falling out with basil, it found ruin and decided to stick with him. badger holds the void artifact!! he's also SO fun to draw. their expressions are super fun. i was obsessed with the song all eyes on me by OR3O so like thats kind of his song now LMAOO
ruin, he/him: ruin is the other "villain" in the story. he (hear me out on this ok) is half of the REAL fruhand, which was split apart for whatever reason. he's fruhand's negative half. he doesn't know that he and fru are equal and believes himself to be inferior. he absolutely hates fru in the beginning, but they make up after ruin realizes the truth. he holds the moon artifact! i made so many different versions of this goober and his silly design. he really helped me learn to draw more freely and creatively
fru, he/him: fru is the main character bc i love him to death. he's the other half of the real fruhand and is his positive half. he doesn't know about the split until later. eventually he and ruin become brothers. do they go back together? idk. i never really did anything abt it. he holds the sun artifact. i fucking love fru. he was a self insert in dnd initially (but also inspired by br'aad from just roll with it) but now he's developed into my silly lion man who's in love with leo. god i love him. he means the world to me
a note about the artifacts: they're the key to the heavens i think it was. or like, the "higher up areas." when combined they open a gateway. they can also be used to merge fru and ruin back together! badger and ruin want to get all the artifacts so badger can take revenge on the gods, and so ruin can be the "real" fruhand. obviously this doesnt happen
thank u for the ask i went crazy mode. this has been so fun
#thank u for the ask#sorry for so much#rottmnt oc#fruhand#my oc#my ocs#fruhand arroway#chris#lucy#basil#badger#ruin#my art#old art#ask game#oc lore

Pencil you’ve genuinely become one of my favorite people to watch for recs, of all kinds, your taste is immaculate and the way you pitch your enthusiasm is magic, so my question is: ya gotta any good fic recs for your many blorbos? Not even for a particular fandom, you’ve pretty much only ever propped bangers so I’d trust your opinion on basically any story, but I’d devour a grab-bag list if you’re willing to put up with making one :D
asjkhfsfj thank you?? I am just a very excitable bean, lol. I also have no problems spreading my love/brainrot XD
Fic recs, you say? Well, I read a ton and I promise you I can't recall every fic I would rec on a dime (I'll remember one later at an inopportune time) but I can definitely throw some of my recent ones. I also made a fic rec list a while ago, with some of my favorites, so you can look at that one as well, if you haven't already seen it.
Okay so here's a few (I have so many lol):
(And as always, each one has different cws, so mind those as you peruse)
(Additional note: everything is gen or mostly gen, unless I say otherwise. Y'all know me, I am a simple gen/found-family-seeking aroace lass.)
Monkey King's Guide to Physical Contact
by Leonardo_Charles_BlueWood_21 (@art-and-writing-knox-me-down)
Fandom: Lego Monkie Kid / Journey to the West Rating: T Words: 15,913 Status: Complete Oneshot
「Sun Wukong has gone a long time without a hug. Not easy to stay intact once he gets one.
Or
Monkey King gets a hug and has a breakdown cause he's touch starved as heck.」
I've recently re-read this, and even knowing exactly how it was going to go, I still teared up a bit. I have never wished harder than I can reach into a screen and hug a fictional character. The emotions and potent and visceral (and still in character!!! everyone is so in character it's so good) and this fic can dig into your soul if you blink. It does take into account S1 and S2 of Monkie Kid, but honestly, you can probably read it without knowing the show plot, if you know your Journey to the West synopsis. (Though LMK is an amazing show and I also highly recommend it.)
Essentially, have you ever considered how an immortal monkey deals with immortality? How a social creature navigates a world of customs, over and over, again? How he copes with repeated trauma? How he deals with outliving his friends? (Spoiler alert: it's not well.) Luckily for Wukong he gets surrounded by a cast of Straight Up Cinnamon Rolls and the oneshot has a happy ending, in that sense, but man it hurts. I never considered the emotional repercussions of a tactile creature such as a monkey being buried under a mountain for 500 years but now I have. Now I have... ;-;

Always Chasing After Something
by GriffinRose (@lunarose99)
Fandom: My Hero Academia Rating: T Words: 291,994 Status: Complete. Two parts, total of 43 chapters.
「While his class is on internships, Aizawa seeks out an underground informant to get information about the League of Villains. After a disappointing conversation, Aizawa finds the informant badly injured and takes him for medical help. And finds out how young this guy really is. And that there's another kid. With no parents in sight.
Look, they're underage, he HAS to get involved now.」
It's a canon divergent AU of MHA, that takes the synopsis of wait if Midoriya was kidnapped as a kid by the AfO foundation, and man does this plot slap so hard. You can set canon to the side and still get allll of that juicy character content. This is an Erasermic story, but they're already established and it's more focused on parenthood than romance. Because yes, this plot mostly focuses on adopting one traumatized and jaded Midoriya and one also traumatized (as per the usual) Eri. And it's amazing.
It balances the POVs so well. The suspense in this fic is insane and addicting but also the fluff is the fluffiest most wholesome bits you ever did see. This fic has it all. It's so found-family shaped, but with everyone (except maybe Hizashi) in that family being a startled cat that has to be eased into it. Slow-burn found family? Except also with the "I've had these children for two days and if anything happens to them—" mentality at the exact same time. I don't know how to explain it, but the flow is immaculate and the trauma and ptsd is very well addressed, without it becoming too grimdark or anything.

This mad lad managed to turn a month full of prompts into not only a cohesive fic, but a really wholesome and moving one as well. Jason-centric, it's the cathartic joys of seeing a Red Hood from a more emotionally constipated Batman cast getting zapped into a world with a less emotionally constipated Batman cast, with Jason tumbling straight into adopting a tiny version of Tim. And with him, via dimensionally shenanigans, still having a developing siblinghood with his OG Robin Tim. This fic has all of the joys of DC-brand dimension travel and none of the frustrations, because even though it's a lovely whump/hurt comfort prompt month, family fluff is solidly on the table.

Night Raven Kindergarten
by @whitenoface
Fandom: Twisted Wonderland Rating: G Words: 62,244 Status: Ongoing, on a break, but 18 chapters thus far
「Join Night Raven Academy's kindergarteners on their adventures! Kindergarten teachers Trey and Cater try to survive the school year with this year's new roster of children that come with complicated parents.」
Y'all I made the mistake of scrolling past this once but I was incorrect: this is the best thing ever. Utterly amazing. I don't know what black magic was cast to keep everyone in character and explore character arcs when half the cast is five and the other are adults, and keep true to their in-story ages, but damn. This person did it. They did it soooo well ;-;
I don't even care if you know nothing about Twst. I will thrust this fic into your hands. (Though if you do it's sooo good. Cater gets all of his trauma addressed baby. And everyone else too is just asdkjfsdjgsg ughhh trust me it's so good.) This fic really does balance heart-restoring, tooth-rotting fluff and then the most existential, quiet, real-life shaped sort of hardships, and it's masterful. I laughed. I cried. (Legitimately cried: tears exited my eyeballs for a solid five minutes. I am going to draw that scene one day It's in my drafts. It's coming.) Sometimes you get the kiddos decorating cookies and turning them into toys; sometimes the five-year-old is asking why his dad can't pick him up yet again. Sometimes the teacher is getting a little too excited trying to share the joys of teeth hygiene; sometimes the struggles of being an only parent are a little too noticeable. This fic may be ongoing but I don't care; it already has it all, and each new chapter is going to come for my emotions. Which ones? Debatable. Could be all of them, all at once. (It probably will be.)

The Road to Gandharva
by HAL_berd (@halbyrd)
Fandom: Genshin Impact Rating: T Words: 2,746 Status: Complete Oneshot
「The road to Gandharva is long and complicated. After leaving Mondstadt, Collei spends a lot of time alone with her own thoughts and, perhaps worse, with the Master Conversationalist, General Mahamatra, Cyno.」
I've recently reread this one, and to be honest I have read it multiple times. It's short and sweet and it means so much to me. Cyno and Collei's special brand of awkward bean found family just gets me. (Somehow, despite being written before the reveal that Cyno has his own messed up childhood with even more parallels to Collei, it manages to encapsulate that essence so well.) It is a very sweet oneshot of a very (rightfully so) bitter, chronically ill and traumatized girl and an awkward human-weapon-of-a-matra just... traveling from Mondstadt to Sumeru. Just little snippets. Yet each snippet does so much for the characters, in such little ways, and I am constantly in awe.
#ask#anon#fic recs#yall this was just a few but I have no idea how to possibly list more#so did 1 fandom each of some recent stuff#or stuff I reread recently#all of these are very good I highly endorse them#lego monkie kid#batman#my hero academia#genshin impact#twisted wonderland

Epic Yume Nikki - Dream Diary - Review
Five years ago a reboot of the cult classique video game Yume Nikki was released into the world at the tender age of zero. I have recently completed the game in its entirety, and today....... I share my thoughts.
I remember shatting myself when this game got announced on Steam. I got it on release day! However.... my laptop back then was not strong enough to run it - like I couldn't even move Madotsuki at all and my laptop was torching up. So, super duper sadly, I had to refund it......
And then.... I felt even more disappointed when the initial reviews came rolling in for the game on Steam and they were "Mixed" - and if you are familiar with Steam game reviews, if a game manages to have a mixed reception, it's p much synonymous to shit. I was shocked bro. So since then I was under the impression it was a failed reboot that didn't get the same feel as the original game, or just too new to be seen as Yume Nikki.
Fast forward to recently, when I figured I'd pick the game up again (and now able to play it since I've gotten a new laptop within the past 5 years) and.... I SERIOUSLY wish I didn't listen to those reviews, because now I get that they were probably the crowd that gets too repulsed by reboots/remakes that are too different from the original (Pokemon fans know what Im talking about). Like cmon guys it was made under the supervision of the dude who made the original Yume Nikki themselves
Anyways. HOLY shmoley. I'm serious. This game was SO GOOD!! The art... it was just BEAUTIFUL! In the reboot, you actually get to see Madotsuki's diary (which is full of sketches and concept art as you progress thru the game) and I went ahead and collected ALL the drawings because I love them so much.
I do remember being a little sad that there were less doors (I think?) compared to the original. Number World in the og was my favorite place because somehow seeing a really really long number on the floor was somewhat unsettling. Sadly it wasn't there, but the way the worlds were intertwined and different areas were referenced were SO genius.
Shout out to le new creature made by the original creator, thanks for throwing up blood everywhere when I played hot cross buns on my recorder I mean flute
Ok so I figured out his name is Wrapi :]
Likewise with the worlds, there were only a few effects present in the game instead of 20+. Although I do like the Eye with Hand effect being remade into a Hamsa ^___^ I don't usually see that amulet in media which is awesomesauce. And it's fitting.
HONORABLE MENTIONS: Fisherman, cup boy at the mall filled with blood or juice who tripped and spilled everywhere, AND.....
Also, ironically, the scariest part of the game for me was after you make Mado stab the monster on the highway. and she wakes up. And your controls stop working and she stares at you. Yeah I shat myself bro not even gonna sugarcoat it.
Second scariest part was when the last achievement I had to get was to score 5000 POINTS ON SUPER NASU ARRGHH!! (i did it tho).
Ok so now IT'S ENDGAME TIME.
The game actually has two endings and neither of them are the same as the original. And I think I like that. The main ending... it gave Madotsuki more hope, i think - Like escaping those nightmares and getting back to living life happily. Even though the majority of the game is in the dreamworld, the further you progress, the messier Mado's room got and the more she woke up upset. Seeing the main ending made me happy for her :] I also liked the secret ending (had to look up how to do that one), I think this one implied more of an escapism ending. So not as much closure but yeah.
Overall, I really liked this game. It was a great homage to the original, had engaging puzzles, beautiful arts, and lovely OST remixes.
IN CONCLUSION:

Godzilla: The Series first watch
I don't know what else to title this. Because it's not my first watch of the series. I saw the first two episodes years back. But I now decided to pop in disc one of my complete series DVD set of Godzilla: The Series. I didn't watch all of episode of disc one yet. I stopped at episode 8. But I'm confused and surprised that episodes 3, 4, 6, 7 & 8 are switched around. But the continuity somewhat still works. I'm also annoyed there's no subtitles included with the DVD. And also, the DVDs are...on each other. Yet I've just learned in this DVD, the episodes are in chronological order. Back to the point.
It's been 25 years since the 1998 remake of Godzilla released. And with the fact that I recently watched that movie...twice. Even though I didn't need to watch it a second time, but I let it play on my PS4. I wanted to watch the animated series I've heard so much good stuff about. Including now that I'm older.
And let me just say this. Only after seeing 8 episodes and even though there's more coming ahead...but oh my God. Originally, I wanted my reaction to be like, "Holy fucking shit" but...I think it is still that reaction.
Like...this series basically took characters and elements from an American remake of an iconic film. That was directed by a person who did not like the Godzilla franchise...and just by 8 episodes...this was already better than the movie itself.
It has a unique art style, the humor is nice, the action is pretty dang cool. And then you have the characters being a genuine upgrade that again, I'm only 8 episodes in. But in a way, even if it's a cartoon, they feel more like people than..."Cartoon characters" like in the movie. Along with some new ones too. And I know it's a cartoon, but again, it's much better written than the film. They took characters from that movie and somehow made them better. Or more well, developed in certain cases.
I'm not forgetting Godzilla in this case. Who I am going to call Godzilla in this despite Toho likes to call the creature Zilla. But it's still copyrighted in this series to be Godzilla...or well Godzilla Jr. if you want to go with that. Despite the fact this series has to work with the rules introduced in the film...I'll admit again. I don't hate this design. And this series takes advantage of this design and makes it...what we wanted. Which is Godzilla, but with some differences and...it somehow still works despite some changes.
I don't know if I want to continue talking. But right now, I'm impressed. And I was not disappointed.

The Moth Boy
In the heart of a secluded forest, where ancient trees stood like silent sentinels and the canopy of leaves blocked out the sun’s harsh rays, there dwelled a being like no other—a mutant moth-human by the name of Lysander. With iridescent wings that shimmered like moonlight on water and eyes an indescribable shade of the color red. He was a creation of art and science, the result of a delicate fusion between the ethereal beauty of moths and the inquisitiveness of humans.
Lysander’s domain was a hidden grove, where bioluminescent flowers illuminated the night and the soft hum of fireflies served as his lullaby. It was here that he had brought into existence a brood of artificial moths—300 in total. Each of them shared the same iridescent wings and red eyes of their creator, but they were different in a significant way, in that they did not possess mouths.
Among his vast brood, there was one moth, Touler, who harbored a dream as bright as the moon. Touler’s tiny heart longed to become human, to live a long life full of independence, friendship, and food. It was a dream he dared not utter for he knew of his father’s wishes all too well.
He had once explained his desires to his father but his response was negative. His wings twitched with a mix of understanding and sadness. "Touler, my son," he replied in a voice as soft as the rustling leaves, "the human world is a place of wonders and dangers. It is a world of fleeting moments and fleeting lives. I created you to be creatures of the night, to dance beneath the moon and embrace the mysteries of the dark. To become human is to abandon all that we are."
Remembering his father’s words made his wings droop with disappointment, but a spark of determination flickered in his multifaceted eyes. He had shared his secret with his father, and though his father had discouraged his dreams, Touler could not extinguish the ember of desire that burned within him.
That evening, when the stars aligned just so, Touler found the courage to confide in his brothers. Under the silvery canopy of leaves, they huddled close, their antennae twitching with anticipation. Touler hesitated a bit before he spoke of his forbidden desire.
“I want to be like him,” he told them in their own way of communication and nodded toward their father, who sat in solemn contemplation humming nearby.
His brothers exchanged glances with one another, their multifaceted eyes reflecting the uncertainty that hung in the air. They all knew the risks of defying their creator’s wishes. But Touler’s plea sparked hope in their hearts that they too could fulfill their own desires.
“Children,” Lysander started as he walked toward them and entered their space. “it is time for slumber, fly to your assigned branch for our lullaby.” he continued, sitting at the bottom of their tree. He starts humming, and some of his children hum along with him. It’s a brief tune, one he recalls hearing in the lab. Though the melody isn’t exactly as he heard it initially, he tried his best to remember it and over time it turned into a tune of his own.
“Father, we all wish to explore the human world,” one of his sons spoke. “Touler most of all.” he finished as Lysander rose to his feet, visibly irritated. “Nonsense!” he exclaimed. He ascended to where most of his children were in his view. “I’ve told you all times too many that the human world is off limits! For the last time, and I mean last, no more talk of the human world.” He flew away to his own tree for shut-eye, leaving his sons stunned.
Still, a little shaken by their father’s outburst, Touler left his branch to check on his brothers one by one. This wasn’t the first time their father left his sons in a trance. For some reason, Touler was the only one not affected and he recently discovered he had the ability to reverse Lysander’s hypnosis. After freeing his siblings from the trance, one of his brothers stopped him. “You need to get out of here,” he said.
His brothers also had dreams and desires of their own, but they understood that Lysander would immediately notice if a few of his sons were missing.
His brothers, devised a daring plan for Touler to fly into the human world alone, while the other 299 moths stayed behind to protect their secret. They knew the risks, for their father had cautioned them about the perils that awaited beyond the forest’s edge. But the allure of the unknown was too powerful to resist.
One moonlit night, as the forest lay shrouded in a silvery glow, Touler spread his wings and took to the sky, leaving behind the only home he had ever known and venturing into a world that held the promise of transformation and flavor.
As he soared through the midnight air, his wings carried him toward an uncertain destiny, where Touler’s dreams would either be realized or shattered, and the bonds of family and loyalty would be tested like never before.
The forest, with its ancient trees and bioluminescent blooms, watched silently as Touler disappeared into the night, leaving his father and 299 brothers behind to grapple with a choice that would shape the course of their intertwined fates.

Hi there buddy, my name is Athena. I'm coming to say hi, see how you're doing and this is a chance to ramble about your wips. What's the biggest wordcount you've ever achieved on a wip?
Sorry I haven't gotten around to this yet I've been a bit busy D:
I've made quite a bit of stories, but the ones that I qualify as wips were the ones I got more serious about. So I have a bunch of untitled documents with one to ten pages of beginning a story, only to never work on it again xD
So then as for that, I've only had about five serious wips --- four after quarantine hit and I decided to try being a writer, and one before when I was simply dilly dallying in the art. xD
My first wip in quarantine (titled "Paodd Scrunch", a keyboard smash name plus the version where I stopped adding spaces after every paragraph) was me trying to seriously write, but looking back I know how many mistakes I made, not just within the project but how I set the project up. It was a story 100 years after an apocalyptic virus, containing zombies, shape shifters, and made-up human-like creatures that were bodies of whizzing mass/energy.
I wrote almost every night with really mostly just emotions to guide me. This meant that the plot? Nowhere to be found. It was all character relations and conflicts charged with emotions and toxic, but also confusing behaviors, since I would forget what the character's theme, internal conflicts, and desires were supposed to be like 😭.
But I did have a lot of fun watching book tube, book reviews, writing tips, and writing commentary videos. I really had a blast in quarantine having so much time to learn. In the end I wrote two books of it, although in the second one I only summarized the last 150 pages of. But all together it hit about 121k words in nine months (I titled the final document "The Big Boy: Large Paodd Scrunch") So that's my biggest word count! :0
My next wip was titled "NEVER FALL IN LOVE IN THE OCEAN" and was also focused primarily on character relations and conflicts amongst each other. The main character was trapped on a floating, planked island in the middle of the ocean, with other characters who had a deal to say about her and their own internal conflicts and behaviors. I wrote the climax during the plane and decided I hated it. I didn't like what it led up to. So I tried rewriting everything, the whole thing multiple times. I never found the solution. So I decided to put the draft aside, and see if I could find a better solution a few months or years down the line. In the end I reached 57k in about five months.
My next draft was about Grace, a Fragmented beast that had a great amount of power and was put in an education/facility for it, and Luna, a new scout who needed a Guardsman for her journey. This started out as a comic, but I soon decided to develop it novel-wise. I enjoyed working on this one a lot, but as I continued writing it, once again I felt that the plot was not thought out, and it felt like it didn't lead to much. Once again I was disappointed, having not planned much of the plot but more of the premise, and wanting to work on character relations more than plot, that I tried rewriting it again to add more story. This only lasted a few pages, and I was losing motivation from not understanding how I wanted the story to go. Once again I have put this draft aside, but I actually have looked at the first wip recently and I did like what I saw. Perhaps I will work on it again in the near future. In the end I have reached 28k words in two months.
My current wip is titled "The story of Cat Vegas" (actually it's "cat begas" on Google docs xDDD). It started out with me writing a short story about Jerry Cat and Serious Baby, the two toys I bought at an antique store and brought to school to show my friends. I really fell in love with their characters. Eventually I developed the world that they were in, and I decided to work on the lore, the landmarks, etc. for some mega world-building, but started again with simpler world-building based on an old Minecraft world of ours. Decided there wasn't enough plot, started again. This time I really worked on the plot, and how I wanted the story to end, working on it multiple times so I could feel satisfied with it. Feeling satisfied, I had started rewriting it in a thick journal, taking it with me wherever I go. I started it in June, and am still working on it. I have not transferred it to Google docs yet, so I have no clue how much the word count is. But I'm excited to see where the story is going!

eps 3 and 4...
OK, what I said about the lack of atmosphere... Ep 3 has that in spades. Wow. Also, those horror movie nightmare creatures...! They were right out of an Itou Junji comic. Loved it.
Because of that, I want to give this episode like all the gold stars... But I can't!! Because how can you just shoehorn Madeleine Pryor in like that? With literally no build up??? We had perfect Jean for two episodes, then the beginning of ep 3 she's all "NO! I AM JEAN GREY!" Like she recently gave birth, but the instant the thought's floated that she might be a clone, the vibe is clearly "she's evil."
It all happened so fast. That's what I mean about the pacing. I know there aren't a lot of episodes to work with in this show, but damn it moves fast. Idk if anyone but someone who is already an X-fan could appreciate it, because what I appreciate is the experience of going "ah yes, I remember this from the comics, it was fun," rather than the episode being fun itself. Still, like I said, this episode WAS fun regardless because it had some really cool moments.
I was honestly scared that she WOULD just be straight up evil, because Madeleine never gets a fair shake. So I'm happy that Jean was decent enough to reach out and that Madeleine was strong enough to choose to go her own way at the end.
It's the kind of story that just doesn't work in a single episode. Madeleine deserved more - Jean deserved more. And Scott, who had such a good performance in the first two episodes, is just so useless here. He's just along for the ride. Doesn't seem overly concerned with Jean or Madeleine, and barely concerned with Nathan. When they discover Nathan's virus, and Madeleine suggests sending him with Bishop to look for a cure, Scott just yells "I can't be a part of this" and storms off. My dude. That still makes you a part of it. It just also makes you too cowardly to say goodbye to your own kid, wth.
And his abandonment issues are valid but like yelling "don't any of you know what it's like to be abandoned" to a room full of mutants who very much do know...?
I want to say this is all good character development for Scott... in the sense that he's not the perfect leader, he has his flaws as well as his strengths, and this is one example. That'll have to be explored in the future though. If the episode didn't move so fast and spent a little time in Scott's head, maybe I'd sympathize with him more. Right now it seems like his wife (Madeleine) had a horrible identity crisis and was immediately abandoned by her husband, and also had the balls to do what's best for her son, while said husband just walked away. It could be good for Scott story-wise... it could even be good for Madeleine. But Madeleine is never treated well.
Also...
... this is the ugliest baby ever lmao. what is it about animation and not being able to draw babies!!!! look at the chin on him. i know he grows up to be cable but STILL. he looks thirty-five!!!!
---
Ep 4 has a lot of atmosphere too, both sections. So that's great, I guess the first two were just kinda rocky but they've figured it out now.
Wolverine: "I second the blue rogaine ad" ;-; wolvie...
The Mojo bit, despite having a filler feel (like all Mojo eps do), was a lot of fun, it was great to have Jubilee do something - even though she still sounds very much like "trademark 13 year old X-girl" as a newly minted 18 year old xP "like duh totally" what year is it bahaha
Loved the colors and the kiss.
But my favorite was definitely the second part with Ororo and Forge. Despite all its baggage, that's one of my favorite Ororo ships. I was really enjoying them while also waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm disappointed but not surprised... still kinda hoping things work out though. The art for this part was so lovely, with Forge's cozy cabin and the sunlit desert views. And Ororo herself just seems really well-written to me. Between this and ep 3, the X-women are getting some good stories going on. I like Ororo's better than Jean's, but that's normal for me.
Forge please gimme some of that chili.
bonus I know this is longshot but for a hot second i thought jubilee had a donald trump doll:

Starfire & Nick Wilde
You, Trans!Starfire, are connected to Nick Wilde Your partner selected the Roleplay server. Please keep the chat clean.
Nick Wilde: (FTM or MTF? Want to make sure I get pronouns right.
Trans!Starfire: Hello, small orange bipedal creature!
Trans!Starfire: (MTF. Thanks for asking.)
Nick Wilde: "Hello m'lady." The fox replied politely "I assume you're part of that 'teenage heroes' group I've heard about? You're certainly an interesting bunch, from what I've seen."
Trans!Starfire: "I am! We are fairly into our late teens but we are indeed the Teen Titans!" The orange-skinned alien happily agreed. "We appreciate being called interesting. I will make sure to share the sentiment with the others."
Nick Wilde: "That's good to know, maybe you can help me out a bit? Our force has been asked to help track down a shady guy..." he got his notepad out, looking up at the other "...and considering your guys' career, you might be able to help us out a bit, hm?"
Trans!Starfire: "Of course! We are always willing to assist in enforcing the nebulous concept of justice!" She smiled. "Who do you need help in tracking down?"
Nick Wilde: "Uhhh, this creepy guy with a mask, apparently he's named 'Slade', and if we find the fuck he's gonna be found guilty for a lloooooooooooooooooot of murders. Would you happen to have seen him in recent memory? "
Trans!Starfire: "Slade...you wouldn't happen to mean "Slade Wilson"?"
Nick Wilde: "I mean...sure? All we got on here is the name 'Slade'. But hey, any info you can give me is good info. So go ahead, spill it out when you're ready!" he started to write down a few details.
Trans!Starfire: She gave him a serious expression. "His name is Slade Wilson but his codename is Deathstroke The Terminator. He has possessed a notable enmity towards our team since the death of his son and our former teammate, Jericho, which he holds us responsible for. He especially is obsessed with conquering our leader, Robin. He possesses peak human fitness, an extensive amount of expertise with different weapons and martial arts and an accelerated healing factor that makes him significantly harder to kill than the average human."
Nick Wilde: "...Oh. Great. Auto-healing." the cop sounded disappointed at that. This guy sounded like he was gonna be a fighter. Not a good sign. "Alright, well he's specifically after you guys. How much trouble has he caused you? Is there a specific way he's attacked? Do you know if he has weaknesses of any kind?"
Trans!Starfire: Starfire frowned. "The thing about that man...he doesn't just rely on his physical gifts. He is quite the manipulative tactician. He once seduced a young woman so that she could enter the team and expose to him our identities. He has also performed calculated attacks on other heroes by analyzing their weaknesses before hunting them. If I would to say he has a weakness, the major one would be his pride. He sees himself as a professional and anything that threatens that image will result in him flying into a frothing, if predictable, rage. He also may have a healing factor but enough damage he will need to slow down to recover from, especially outright mortal wounds. In particular, he seems to be protective of his remaining eye.
Nick Wilde: Nick's ears perked up a bit as she talked, a smile growing on his face. It was clear some gears were turning in his head "Manipulative? A way with words? I ^^think^^ that's something I might be able to work with." he explained as he started to give a rather aggressive underline in his notes. "If he wants to play a mental battle, trust me, I'm up to bat. This wouldn't be my first rodeo with something like that. Surely if this guy is as mentally cocky as you say he is, a little verbal sparring should be a slam dunk with this guy." he put his notebook away, having an attack method. He could manipulate when he really wanted to. Though luckily he rarely if ever wanted to.
Trans!Starfire: "Yes, keeping one's wits about them is the best method to dealing with Slade. He's devious but he is wide open to counterattacks when he's not expecting them." Starfire nodded.
Nick Wilde: "Alright. You're being very helpful...One more question..." he asked as he cracked his knuckles a bit "Would you happen to have an approximate location of where he was last? I think I'd like to have a little 'meeting' with this fellow." the idea of a mental battle was exciting him a bit. Maybe too much, but hey, he wanted to see how this would pan out.
Trans!Starfire: "Hmm...the last time we heard a report about him, he was said to be staying in the general location of a certain...Mr. Big?" Starfire tapped her lips. "We did not recognize the name but I believe he is involved in the local mafia?"
Nick Wilde: His expression changed...quite a bit at that. Mr. Big betrayed him?? How could he? But silver lining; at least that'd make hunting him down easier. He remained calm visually, politely asking "Oh. Deary. Would you happen to know why he's involved with them? They're two individuals that I wouldn't really expect to be connected."
Trans!Starfire: "Apparently, the small rodent sir hired him in order to tie up "two furry loose ends". We're still pouring through his list of former associates to discover who they are so that they can be protected."
Nick Wilde: That couldn't be him, could it? They were friends with his daughter! He would never...would he...? "Well, do you know what these 'loose ends' did that would provoke him to commit such an action? Maybe I could help with that. He certainly hasn't talked to me about it recently..."
Trans!Starfire: "Excuse me, are you associated with him?" She asked. "If so, you are in serious danger. Mr. Big is looking into expanding his territory which involves making allies in higher places. One of those allies is Bruno Mannheim of Intergang. He is the one who told him to cut ties with anyone associated with law enforcement."
Nick Wilde: "WHAT/!?!?!?" he started to internally panic. Bigs couldn't be talking about him. He couldn't. He wouldn't...would he? "I'll just have to talk to Big about it on a one-to-one level. Talking to them separately would probably be my safest bet. Can't talk to both at once. I assume this Bruno guy hates the cops?"
Trans!Starfire: "Um...his Intergang follows something called The Crime Bible...and he is rumored to eat subordinates who fail him. Oh wait, you asked for how he felt about cops. Um...surely not moreso than other criminals?"
Nick Wilde: "...Did you say 'eat' them?" he seemed confused. "You're telling me he threatened to eat Mr. Big?"
Trans!Starfire: "No, just those who work underneath him. And fail him. And taste good with spiced meatballs."
Nick Wilde: "So wait, wait, backup...What creature would you say Bruno is? I need a little context here if you're saying he literally eats other people..." he seemed very confused at this point. Now his plans seemed just a bit thrown off.
Trans!Starfire: "Ah, he is completely human. A mad cannibal but a human nonetheless."
Nick Wilde: He took a minute to collect himself and absorb the information. He put together everything piece by piece. "Okay, so, let's back up once more; forgive me for being redundant. But I'm assuming Bruno is threatening to eat Mr. Big if he doesn't comply with the 'cutting out cops' thing, would you say that's correct?"
Trans!Starfire: "Oh, I do not know...I do believe Mr. Big has partaken in the consumption of lower levels of the mafia with Bruno, if some reports are to be correct."
Nick Wilde: "Bullshit! How would an animal that small eat other creatures like that?" he was trying to figure the other out. Was she lying to him? Was this a sick joke of hers? "Okay, look, you're saying the Slade guy is after me, or at least implying it. So: my best bet is to wait. I'll walk around town, maybe get myself a coffee. When this Slade guy is ready for a mental battle, I'm more than happy to meet him..."
Trans!Starfire: "Wait...is Mr. Big not a possum? Not taking size into account, does he not eat carrion or other dead things?"
Nick Wilde: He gave the other a glance that could only be read as 'are you kidding me?' "You found out all this info on Slade's connections and you don't know who the boss is? Mr. Big is a r a t. Nowhere near a possum."
Trans!Starfire: "Ah...the coloration made him resemble a possum. That is entirely my mistake. Still, are rats not omnivorous?"
Nick Wilde: "I think they are? But still, he's...miniscule? Tiny? All those other synonyms? I doubt he'd be eating people like that..."
Trans!Starfire: "Sure, not whole...but maybe he nibbles on the offerings? None of it is nutritional, it's all a display of power."
Nick Wilde: "It still really doesn't seem like something he'd do. Usually he just ices people when they piss him off enough. He doesn't really do the whole 'crime-brag' thing."
Trans!Starfire: "That is a good point. However, he is expanding his territory. He most likely the reputation to deal with the larger gangs."
Nick Wilde: "I don't see why he'd be needing to expand like this in the first place. His gang was perfectly...happy....?" he wasn't really sure how to aesthetically describe a gang. "I don't get the guy sometimes, really."
Trans!Starfire: "Evil is rather obtuse at times. If it makes you feel any better, I believe his intentions aren't personal in nature."
Nick Wilde: "How can attempting to plan a murder a specific target not be personal?!?!"
Trans!Starfire: "It's difficult to explain...when I asked Robin, he revealed that most crime bosses tend to consider pre-meditated murder, especially in your case where it's an attempt to gather a reputation, "business"."
Nick Wilde: "...I just don't get it..." he seemed somewhat disappointed "Why of all people I'd be the one considered a loose end is beyond me. I thought we trusted eachother."
Trans!Starfire: "This is very hard information to take in, sir." Starfire placed a sympathetic hand on Nick's shoulder. "Sadly, trust is easy to drop with people like that. If you are not in his immediate circle, and sometimes even then, you'll always be another asset to him. Someone to use regardless of how friendly you two act towards each other."
Nick Wilde: "I was in his immediate circle! We literally saved his daughters life! Is that not good enough for him?!?! I just...wh...I..." he stammered, so confused."
Trans!Starfire: "That's how men in his position are. I'm sorry, officer. If this was a fair universe, this would not be happening to you."
Nick Wilde: "Well..." he sighed, though he was still willing to take on the battle "You've been in this situation before, feel free to tell me some advice for how I should go about this.." he felt like he could still try and manipulate Slade. It wasn't impossible...was it?
Trans!Starfire: "Hm...Slade isn't expecting a fight. So maybe you should work with that? You and your partner should "welcome" him to your assassination. The courtesy will confuse him...and maybe give you an opening."
Nick Wilde: "Oh...don't worry, she's on other missions around here. I'm not sure I'd want her too involved in the Slade situation..." he explained, conveniently hiding the silver ring on his left hand "Though speaking of; did you happen to see a gray rabbit anywhere around here?"
Trans!Starfire: "A couple...although one in a police uniform was helping an old goat cross the street earlier."
Nick Wilde: "...That sounds like her..." he said with a small smile. He sounded proud with that sentence. "Well, I appreciate all the help you gave with this situation. If you'll excuse me there's a certain individual I need to have a 'talk' with. It was very nice meeting you!" he insisted with a smile, starting to walk away.
Trans!Starfire: "It was nice meeting you too, Mister...I apologize, I never got your name!" She called out.
Nick Wilde: "Officer Wilde, or Nick, whichever's your favorite." he turned back around, offering the nice lady a hand to shake.
Trans!Starfire: "I am Koriand'r, or Kory as my friends call me." Starfire smiled, shaking his hand. "I am also known by the name Starfire."
Nick Wilde: "Well, it was lovely meeting you, Ms. Fire." he even gave a polite bow. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have important business matters to attend to." he gave a nod, before turning back around, his expression much more serious. He was ready for a battle.
Trans!Starfire: "Godspeed, Mr. Wilde!" Starfire smiled. It would do Deathstroke good to experience defeat from an unlikely source...
