DBDA characters + formal desi attire: Charles and Edwin (Pt. 1)
This is not fanart, because I cannot draw, but if any fanartists want to use this as inspo, go ahead. And, before we begin, my fashion sense is not the best, so if any fellow desi people see this and have anything to add, go ahead. These aren't very detailed either tbh, because I am much more well versed in women's desi fashion than men's. Ok, now, let's go.
Charles Rowland
You know I had to start with my favourite desi boy of all time. I'm putting my man in a sherwani because he deserves it. Red's his colour, and it's also the colour associated with weddings in south asian culture, so yes, these pictures are technically bridegroom inspo.
So, I absolutely adore embroidered sherwanis, and I do think Charles would slay one of these beyond imagination. For full outfit references, see below.
Golden and red go together amazingly in desi wear, although they do usually denote wedding wear. But sherwanis fit so wonderfully on the shoulders + Charles' dangly gold earring would go so so well with the outfit !!
Edwin Payne
Yes, I'm imagining the British Raj era white boy in desi attire. Sue me. We all know blue's his colour, so of course I went for the blue sherwanis.
Now, blue and golden are an amazing colour combination and my original choice, because I wanted there to be a common colour between Charles and Edwin, but blue and silver/white was easier to find on Pinterest. You can see golden highlights on a few of these, though, and this next one.
This one is a bit plain but to be quite honest, it has a simple elegance to it that reminded me of Edwin. Its golden highlights mean that it would work best with golden trousers, like Charles' outfits up top.
BUT I also saw this amazing formal shalwar kameez in blue that I do think Edwin would look so so good in, so I have to add it here as a bonus idea.
+ Bonus Payneland
So, desi men's attire also has this thing where the sherwani itself is a muted colour and the man wears a cloth draped around himself in the highlighted colour (IDK what the cloth is called 😭). But I found these similar ones in blue/white and red/golden combo, and yes, it reminded me of Payneland.
LIKE. You can't tell me they wouldn't absolutely slay it. Like these are their wedding outfits to me, like for when they get married to each other.
Anyway, that's the limit for the pictures I can put on this post. Next one up is Crystal and Niko! I am so excited for Niko.
taglist because people seemed to want this and i don't want anyone to miss it. just say the word and i'll tag you for the next part: @queen-of-hobgobblers @mirabel-on-a-bicycle @shipspainfulships @read-write-thrive @justalunaticfangirl @guardianspirits13

True swap AU stuff
Ideas for swap fin, Artemis! (Finn swapped with Huntress Wizard)
Her personality isn’t that different from canon Finn, just a silly kid that likes to slay bad guys and hang out with their best friend and sibling, Egg the bird. (Who has yet to get proper art)
I also drew thr candy queen thing as a joke cause well, it’s self explanatory haha. That’s how their development works. I do want to draw more art of Artemis kicking cq’s butt tho cause Finn vs ice king was always a highlight for me
And naturally, there is also a “fern” version in the AU. Artemis equips a wood sword instead of a grass sword, which eventually creates Aspen.
Aspens personality is much more similar to canon huntress wizards, just being a lot more eager to help out (even though her morals seem a bit questionable). I like her a lot, here’s some more sketches I made to sort of brainstorm other ideas
I will probably develop both of them more soon. Also, here’s some silly art I made of them interacting with Finn and Fern!! They would be best buds.
Ok that’s it byeeee

MILGRAM Best Song Tournament, Round 2, Match 2 BRING IT ON vs. THIS IS HOW TO BE IN LOVE WITH YOU
Propaganda for both options under the cut!
Propaganda for BRING IT ON:
"Reasons why Bring it On should win:
- Just by starting the song, the instrumentals are BANGER. Like his more rock style is very cool, even better than After Pain’s more mellow style - Arthur’s voice (Futa’s va) had bills due because have you HEARD his singing?? His raspier voice fits Futa so well - It feels so explosive and like a call to action in a sense, which very much matches Futa’s mentality during trial 1. He also wasn’t playing victim like a CERTAIN girl… (jk, love you mu!) - SAA HAJIMEYOU USOTSUKI KARIDA - UNDEAD HEROOOI YES SLAY KING HIS HIGH NOTE HERE IS HEAVENLY - His scream at the end. Oh my god. HE LITERALLY ATE THIS NOTE. AFTER PAIN COULD NEVER. BRING IT ON FTW 🔥🔥🔥" - His range goes WAAAAAY higher than Mu. She would end up like PHG if she even tried hitting any of his high notes in the last chorus /j
---
- The vocals are amazing, those growls are so well done - You’re able to get Fuuta’s crime and motive pretty succinctly, only based on the visuals - But it still leaves a lot up to interpretation, like how he only attacked once in the final fight scene. It lead to some cool theories. - On that note, the game aspects are so cool!! Especially when paired with him going after people online, just good synergy with awesome style! - Fuuta’s scared face after he realizes what he did. The great contrast of other foes simply being knocked out then being met with blood splatter. - The tempo of the song changing with his mood is a really good touch as well. Make the song more chaotic which highlights his character traits well
---
"propaganda for bring it on: the music FUCKS it genuinely slaps so hard listening to it. song style is incredible its perfect for fuutas personality and gamer vibes. also the way the mv frames everything as a game? the only time real blood and real gore happens being when killcheroy dies? the little details of all the usernames, the different monster designs, the generally distorted feel of everything being too lighthearted?
okay i could go on about the mv for hours but lets not. aside from that: the FEEL of the song!!! the vocals!!!! it really feels like fuuta putting his whole heart into it, into this point of view that both blows problems out of proportion and minimises them, and DEEPLY fucking up. my darling little hypocrite gamer boy twitter user. he makes his witch hunt genuinely sound like something that could sweep people up into it. also the instruments goddddd. the guitar and synth the bass and the drums the DRUMS. im relistening to it to write this propaganda and it keeps making me headbang when i should be writing. if you arent headbanging to bring it on you are LYING.
the way the lyrics are written is wonderful too!!!! they feel so brash and brave and powerful and like. cocky about it. and it fits PERFECTLY. its gets someone swept up into it and it FUCKS. vote bring it on im serious. lets go!! a victory march!! dan da dan!!"
Propaganda for TIHTBILWY:
okay so like the thing im most in love with: the VOCALS!!!! this song has an absolutely AMAZING singer and AMAZING vocals!!!! the way the conversational talk-singing lines still feel so musical!!!! the cute cute cuteeeee mahiru voice!!!! it brings you so much energy!!!! its a song sung with so much love!!!! mahirus va brings such an amazing feel to the song with such amazing talk-singing!!!! its very skillfully done and it happens in i love you too!! mahiru songs r the QUEENS of musical talk singing
the silly phone call bit. kurururu~!
the little vocal flourish and the way her voice raises up like an excited exclamation in the final prechorus!! daijoubu nante kirai DA!
its such a fast song but everything flows so well!!!! it makes it feel so bright and cheery and peppy!!
the instrumental is so underrated just LISTEN to that catchy bass line thats so pretty in the verses!!!! no for real even if u dont vote this is how to be in love with you go listen to the bass line in the verses it works to move both the song and the listener forward at mahirus sweeping breakneck pace. and the cute keyboard sounding and synth instruments!!!! its SUCH a danceable song!!!! i cant listen to it without bopping along in my seat
the way the ominous bits are subtly hidden? it all sounds so cute but there are just these Things that she sings that are really kind of concerning and unhealthy when she sings them!! and the veiled desperation to be in her relationship- listening to that and the cheery tone and breakneck, quick song pace, it really does represent mahiru SO well. she throws in all these little bits that just go noooo teehee the relationships just fine!! when it REALLY isnt
i would listen to mahiru talk for hours
the MV!!!!!! HER FASHION SENSE THE MAGAZINE STYLE!!!! the magazine style especially works so well with her character!!!! its so cute and stunning and just looking at it you have a blast. also her birdcage!!!! her birdcage and the bright orange and the pink bars!!!! the way everything desaturates and becomes more sickly looking when she wakes up at the end!!!! its such a happy carefully curated and designed dream and then it drains away!!!! also god all her outfits are stunning. mahiru call me
the way she sings "overheat de~!" cutest thing in the WORLD.
the little faces she makes!!!! godddd shes so expressive
actually the whole songs so expressive!!!! shes putting her all into it!!!! her words have so much expression in them!!!! once more praising mahirus va the way her voice can soften and become bright or subtly desperate so quickly is MASTERFUL control of expression when singing and its so underrated. join me in being insane over miho okasaki delivers her lines. shes such a perfect mahiru.
funniest es cover. hands down. funniest es cover.
this is how to be in love with you is FREE serotonin!!!! free energy right there!!!! this is how to be in love with you sweep!!!!!
---
-The song is so cheerful!! I always feel like dancing and singing when this one comes up in my playlists!! Absolute banger, mood definer, kicking sadness in the shin with those high-heels and then hitting its face with a cute purse -THE HIGH-HEELS STEPPING TO THE BEAT OF THE MUSIC IN THAT ONE SCENE (0:50). SIMPLY ICONIC. NO ONE DID IT LIKE HER. -👠💅👝👗 -She is slaying. Look at her outfits. She put so much effort there. She gave it her all. Absolutely serving. -SUKITTE KIMOCHI WAKATTA TSUMORI? NARA KONO MAMA FUTARI O-VA-HI-TO- DE -The storyline of the mv MAKES SENSE and you can form a COHESIVE TIMELINE OF EVENTS (unlike other unspecified contestants' mvs you know 🙄) -look at herr 🥺 she beby 🥺 all she did was love too much 🥺 we all love mappi don't we 🥺 she deserved more let her win this pleease 🥺 -No medical malpractice happened in the making of this mv 👍
---
I care so much about This is How To Be In Love With You- it's visuals are brilliant in the ways it conveys its themes and narrative. I'm never normal Ever about the "Love as marketing" symbolism that is brought in by the use of magazines. It's a lovely upbeat song but the Horrors are Always Lurking under it, the breakup Ritual line is my Favorite Line cause its so horrifying but its said so casually and its so good oh its so good-

I have seen S3!! It cost me dearly (oh god my sleep schedule and body) but I'm so glad I did because I LOVED IT. so much!! I didn't know they had it in them but aaaaaaaa. Spoilers under the cut!
- I loved the relationships. I LOVED THEM. I could come on board with Geralt-Yen, I really enjoyed both Geralt-Ciri and Yen-Ciri (she's her mum 😭) and Ciri-Jaskier was everything I ever wanted. There were other things happening this season (👀) but that was the absolute highlight for me + Geralt actually showing that he cares for Jaskier and their relationship f i n a l l y being portrayed as the deep and meaningful friendship/bond that it is. I watch the witcher for a lot of reasons but mostly for the found family and VINDICATION aaaaa
- this was such a good Jaskier season, my love, me eternal light, the reason why I fell in love with this show - he had a PLOT, he had his wits, he had agency, he's still so anxious but was there as bait (they!! adressed his trauma in the little ways!) and I love that they went the route of Jaskier telling Geralt about Phillippa, honestly guys, I can die happy now, especially with-
- BI BARD BI BARD BI BARD BI BARD (nearly everything has been said about this, just. This fuels me. I needed this so bad, t h a n k you netflix for going through with what you started in S1). I can't shake the feeling that things are going to end quite badly but then I also. like to whump the bard. sooo, if I end up right.. 👀
- I might have sniffed a little when they made Geralt cry because he didn't want his mum to hurt?? Don't do this to me I am not strong enough, that got me. That really got me.
- Geralt might have murdered some people this seasons (and was SO DOWN to kill Stregebor, I crackled, I love himmmmm) but he was such a good moral compass for Ciri this season? Had so much integrity? Did they actually manage to keep him of his path of neutrality? WISE MAN GERALT? EMOTIONAL DEPTH GERALT??
- Ciri really grew on me this season! They really did her good
- Yen didn't need to grow on me, but ohhhh SHE DID. I loved her storyline. I loved her introspection - family goat Geralt I am crying
- the costumes were not perfect but honestly most of the time they were slaying and Geralts armour is now sooo much better, I'd say, improvements there too!
- black horsie is a Roach too (with subtitles on) I can forgive them
- Otto out there with the plague of '21 ??? Brooooooooo
- Fringilla absolutely deserves to live her best life, yes queen. Also Cahirs first little breakdown??
- so many book scenes I enjoyed gosh YES. I already said that but the Jaskier&Ciri one guys I melted-
- the pacing felt at times a little weird? With weird interceptions of scenes at times, like the wild hunt one at the end of episode 3(?). But that was just a minor thing that made me go. Hmm? 🤨
- I LOVE THAT VALDO IS JUST A GUY. He is just a guy! A funny little man that sings the equivalent of medieval, sappy, cliched boyband songs about love, ppfpfpf. Jaskier you PETTY bitch it's like wanting the Taylor Swift of the continent to die and I love him for it - this is the first season that I could just. watch again? right after finishing??? what a quality improvement!!

I think Ice Queendom really grounded a lot of my WK headcanons and what it would mean for Weiss and Jaune in the canon timeline. The way they’re foiled in that show is one of my favorite additions.
They’re both dealing with their identity in a specific way related traditional gender roles and in a way that they think their family might want, and based on the knights/maidens they idealized in their families and from fairy tales. Jaune is afraid of not living up to this toxic masculine image of what he thinks a huntsman is meant to be like the men in his family he looks up to and this translates to a fear of being worthless. On the inside he’s a terrified child oppressed by his legacy and the disappointment/scorn of his family for being a liar and a coward.
In Weiss’s nightmare she projects the image of who she believes she’s meant to be (Ice Queen), while neglecting the other parts of herself she projects onto others. Like Jaune, she’s also still a terrified child in a way. She locks that part of her away because she doesn’t want to be vulnerable. But she also projects the gender normative standards of “Knights” and “Maidens” onto two other people in her dream - Jaune and Pyrrha.
Pyrrha is the ideal Maiden. She’s idealized in her dream world more than anyone else. She’s elegant and beautiful. She sings “Mirror, Mirror.” She essentially speaks to Weiss’s own deep-seated insecurity of not being able to live up to her standards of perfection. Pyrrha actually connects the pairing in her nightmare in a way not dissimilar to how she does in canon.
Jaune is different… as one of the dream NPCs he’s nothing special at all. But when Jaune himself comes into her dream world, he is decked out in a special cape and a giant sword that repels the Nightmare. But he is too weak to lift it. Weiss believes Jaune is too weak and unworthy of his weapon. It speaks both to Weiss’s opinion of Jaune as a person, but also to her own feelings about herself. She had to kill a knight to be free of her Father’s patriarchal prison. She had to essentially become her own knight to save herself (the princess) from her tower. But she also feels she is unworthy of her name unless she lives up to a certain standard, which is why she thinks lowly of Jaune here because he so clearly doesn’t, and why she foists that aspects of herself onto him in her nightmare.
But then why does Jaune have the sword? Because Weiss saw that Pyrrha (her idealized “Maiden”) placed her faith in him. So, as much as she denies it, Jaune has the potential to be a “knight in shining armor”, and some unconscious part of Weiss recognizes that potential. And that’s more or less the burden Jaune struggles to lift in the nightmare. He has the potential to be Weiss’s knight, but he’s not yet worthy. And this story isn’t about him. It’s when Jaune integrates with both the feminine (Pyrrha) and the inner child (the mini Weiss’s) that he can lift the sword to destroy the corrupted “knight” of Weiss’s father to be overcome to help free her from the nightmare. This, too, mirrors Weiss’s slaying of the Arma Gigas in the White trailer. And this is also what Weiss needs to do too to finally be free of the nightmare she’s stuck in. Both Weiss and Jaune need to integrate with those neglected parts of themselves to become the best versions of themselves. They do it a bit in the climax of Ice Queendom and maybe they’ll do it completely in canon too.
Hi!
I love this analysis, thank you for sharing it :D
I agree, the White Knight's foiling is one of my favorite details of the Ice Queendom anime!
I remember loving how the story
Juxtaposes Jaune's knightmare to Weiss's
Highlights how Ruby and Jaune are the people Weiss needs in juxtaposition with Pyrrha, as the one Weiss wants
Has Jaune find a relic, which highlights Jaune's potential to properly connect with Weiss in the future
Has Jaune fight together with Pyrrha and the mini-Weiss at the very end, which symbolically foils Arkos and White Knight :''')
I don't really have anything else to add to your beautiful thoughts!
Thank you for writing them!

All of My Opinions on the Mean Girls Musical Movie
Firstly, loved all the original film references. Of course the obvious ones like having the same lines, the thing about fetch being slang from an old movie, but also!!
. Janis' suit being purple for spring fling!! and omg let's not even talk about how pretty Aul'il Cravalho was throughout the entire film. Her eye make-up was so impressive
. that part in Sexy where they're cycling through potential outfits and one of them is the white shirt with the purple bra holes cut out !!
Slightly upset about the fact they cut out Meet the Plastics and it ended up being more like, Meet Regina, but I get that. On the topic of songs, I understand a lot of them were cut out because they were "too theatrical" but I can still miss em!! Truthfully when I heard the new Stupid With Love I was devastated because it's one of my favourite songs and they fucking tiktokified it, but I actually think it works really well in the film- it gets the "cringy first proper love" aspect across, which is its purpose, so I'm happy.
THEY GOT RID OF "WHO HERE HAS EVER FELT PERSONALLY VICTIMISED BY REGINA GEORGE" which was absolutely criminal
AND THE PRINCIPAL AND MS NORBURY ARE TOGETHER which was actually adorable, and I didn't think about the fact that could be something that happened, but I'm very happy it did.
The bus at the end of Rather Be Me was such a jumpscare but also so funny. THEY MISSED OUT THE DIALOGUE TO DO IT THOUGH SADD. Plus she was so goofy that entire song?? Why was she running in and out of all of those random rooms.
The rumours spreading via phones looked half cool, but it's dated the film imo, which is what Tina Fey originally set out to avoid! Like "fetch" was made up slang so in years to come the film wouldn't seem cringy for having slang teens actually used to use at the time.
Big drum-roll: We did not see enough of Regina's meanness to actually justify her being a mean girl. A lot of it got filtered out through songs, and the majority of stuff was just her, like, responding badly to sexism?? Also tell me how I'm gonna villanise Renee Rapp she fucking SLAYED what a queen.
Also WHERE IS COACH CARR'S SEXUAL ASSAULT. THAT'S THE WHOLE REASON MS NORBURY GETS ARRESTED!!?? That, to me, is one of the biggest indicators in the original film of just how powerful the "Mean Girls" are, they know about this, and the other teachers don't. Not only that, but it highlights just how immature they are, because they don't do anything about it. They're girls who run the school, without having any sympathy or context to do something about bad stuff they know happens. It's just "a funny thing to write". Not having that made me sad tbh.
Changing the line to "you wrote this" in World Burn was clever but I wish we got to see more of the girls turning on each other, rather than direct fighting.
KEVIN G BEST SONG IN THE MUSICAL
Where was the 4 way phone call, DEVASTATING. We literally did not see the plastics actually interact with each other. There was no meanness, no impact, all we got were the "events" when OTHER THINGS HAPPEN. You could say it lost a lot of filler, but the filler was actually context! And part of what makes the film so good!
Devastated she doesn't say "damn you're mine" in Someone Gets Hurt. I do think it's hilarious they just didn't make the actor guy for Aaron sing at all lol
"That filter you use looks just like me" WHY. I appreciate the change from the line about weight but like, this DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. at least say "that filter you use has nothing on me" THE WHOLE POINT IS SHE'S ABOVE IT
I didn't like the extended version of Revenge Party, sorry, too used to the old version
And I did not like the girlbossification of Sexy. I get it's supposed to be powerful like "watch me as I run the world in shoes I cannot walk in" but I feel like the whole point of "I expect to run the world in shoes I cannot walk in" is supposed to point out the irony, like, being slightly critical of "modern feminism". I will say though that the wobble from avantika as she says that is superb.
Overall I thought the film was enjoyable and a nice blend of the original film and the musical, but I think both ended up losing individual meaning because of how much they intersect. You don't have time to appreciate the lyrics and power of the musical because you don't hear them all, and some of them get cut, and you can't follow the plot in a meaningful way because the songs are happening, and they skip a lot of context to fit them in.
Would totally watch it again though, if only to see Renee Rapp say "get in loser" cos she actually nailed that

FMA Watchthrough: wow we really have a serial killer already?
Episode 4: This series really enjoys its serial killers huh
My Brother thought Edward was an adult. He's literally under 5 ft, he's so short, he's so immature, how do you make this mistake?
Like I get they aged slightly since the failed resurrection but they're TINY
Me: maybe I should burn down the house. Family bonding!
Brother: please don't
Ed and Al are drawing some speedy circles to catch random pickpockets in a train station
Alternatively, the train station just has alchemy circles ready to catch people
That would be funny
Imagine you go to a train station and you're like 'ah yes the regular emergency cage circles. oh that circle is new. is that a human transmutation circle-'
The entire time we kept forgetting Majahal's name (Hohenheim's friend) so brother just started calling him Taj Mahal
Ed and Al get beat by literal children
I guess they are children but. More childreny-children that don't have trauma adding 10+ years to their live
Also dear lord this series loves throwing the Elrics into messed up situations
Edward having chronic back problems is so relatable
Me too, dude
Clause: appears
Brother: is that a PAPERBOY?
He then insulted me by saying that's how I dress
Anyways. More Hohenheim mysteries. I'm so excited to learn more what has that old bastard been doing
Human Alchemy: forbidden by law and by everybody.
Ed: Well I dOn'T cArE
Also the frames of Ed eating are horrific
Enjoy that it took me like 10 minutes
Anyway then we get Clause trauma. It's actually really sad I couldn't imagine loosing a sibling so young
On another note, why did her sister dying make her dress like a guy?
I guess the 'ghost' only kills girls or something
I felt like that wasn't really explained
Ed than gets knocked out by a candle
Not his best moment. also what. can we have an explanation? why does he faint when he sees a candle?
Anyways the twist was INSANE
We both knew Taj Mahal was up to something but ANIMATING MANIQUINS WITH YOUNG GIRLS?
DUDE WHAT???
And then the actual girl he lusted after was literally RIGHT THERE
And she was sad he didn't recognize her : (
Girl don't even try to act like you were scared you were fully complacent in all the shit
Like she literally watched as Taj Mahal tried to turn Clause into a manequin
Enjoy the guilt I guess
And now thinking back, the 'ghost' watching Clause and her Dad in the graveyard was probably her sister in a maniquin
That's literally devastating
Crying sobbing wth
And then Ed lowkey kills him? It wasn't intentional but he hit the sword and boom. In his chest
Really highlights the differences quickly between BH and 03. Ed doesn't want to kill people, but also doesn't seem so vehemently opposed to it like BH.
Inchresting (interesting)
Nothing says brotherly love like "good to see you're depressed again and back to normal, Al"
Me @ my brother: good to see you're sad again! suffer
Clause gets a outfit change. We love a kid who just does whatever slay queen
Don't be sad boys, it's Hughes time! Wooo!
Final thoughts: this was insane. I've heard '03 was darker but I didn't think we'd get that deep that fast. Can't wait for it to get worse!
Also I am aware I didn't spell maniquin once at all in this I don't care
#fma 03 watchthrough#fma 03#edward elric#alphonse elric#fma#fullmetal alchemist#this was a wild one#I thought it was the train episode but alas! Next time#we're actually ahead a bit I just procrastinate everything

MOGAI BHM- Day 13!
happy BHM! today i’m going to be talking about ballroom culture!
[Image ID: A black-and-white photograph of a drag ball. In the photo, a crowd of Black people are standing around a gated area in a room, watching a Black man, dressed in a short black dress and black combat boots, dance and pose on the tiled floor. End ID.]
The history of drag ball culture can be traced to the 1920s in New York City, just before queer culture began to rise in Harlem and the Harlem Renaissance- however, at this time, mainstream drag balls were pretty much all white. Black performers were allowed to participate, but they were asked to lighten their skin in order to do so, and were often judged harshly and unfairly by completely white judge panels.
This horrible racist abuse led Black and other non-white queer people, especially indigenous and Latino queers, to form their own drag ball subculture. They would organize their own balls, sometimes in official drag ballrooms, and sometimes in their own homes, and drag ball culture really grew during the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
During this time, drag ball culture was organized into different “Houses”, which were official establishments of the culture and events, but also frequently served as solace and shelter for Black and Latino LGBTQ people who had been kicked out of their homes or were facing violence for their identities. These Houses were based on the concept of family and love and defiance, and were the soul of drag ball culture. The first house, which kickstarted ballroom culture from the 1960s on, was the LaBeija House, founded by Crystal and Lottie LaBeija in the 1960s as a response to the racism they’d experienced in extant drag scenes in New York City.
There were many, many, many Houses that participated in drag ball culture- some of the most famous ones include The House Of Ebony, The House Of Xtravaganza, and the House of Ninja. All houses were led by “mothers” and “fathers”, usually elder members from drag ball culture.
Drag scenes in this time period consisted of several different opportunities, mainly for lesbians, both cis and trans, gay men, and trans women. Contestants would “walk” (perform) and participate in different categories based on their identity or how they expressed themselves. These categories produced a lot of queer language as we know it today.
Two terms that originated with/were popularized by ballroom culture of the late 1900s, were ‘butch queen’ and ‘femme queen’. ‘Butch queen’ was a category for performers who were gay men but did not possess hyperfeminine or hypermasculine qualities/expressions, but rather a combination. The term was for a uniquely queer celebration of a blending of masculinity and femininity. ‘Femme queen’ was a category for people who would today be considered transgender women- people who were born ‘male’ but sought forms of gender, sexual, and/or social transition to live and present as a woman.
Femme queens and butch queens were the biggest parts of drag culture. They accompanied other categories, like for butches (not butch queens) who were masculine lesbians. Other categories highlighted ‘Realness’ (the ability of performers to ‘pass’ as straight men/women), ‘business executive’, and several categories that allowed men to still be masculine and women to still be feminine.
Language was very important in drag ball culture. ‘Femme’, ‘butch’, ‘queen’, they all described an aspect of queerness that was personal and yet political at the same time. This dedication to queer language led to the development of unique terms and language to define aspects of ballroom culture- in fact, most modern ‘queer’ language has been appropriated by white queer people from ballroom culture. Terms like ‘spilling tea’, ‘work’, ‘slay’, ‘yass queen’, and many others, all originate from ballroom culture. Many popular dance trends and moves, including the infamous ‘voguing’, also originate from the dance aspects of ballroom culture.
Although the history of drag kings is very often overlooked, they were and just as integral to drag culture as drag queens are. There were drag ball categories for trans men, butch trans men, and for trans men to ‘pass’ as gay men. Butch and trans men categories and experiences in this culture were emphasized and related, building the shared history between butch lesbian and trans male communities. queer history is inextricable from this kind of Black and Latino history. Queer language is not just queer language, and its history deserves to be known and respected.

Understanding Passover and Other Jewish Holidays: An Easy Guide
Passover, also known as Pesach, is one of the most significant holidays in the Jewish calendar, celebrated with rituals that have deep historical and spiritual significance. Alongside Passover, there are other important Jewish holidays like Purim, each with its unique traditions and meanings. In this article, we'll explore what Passover is, its importance, and touch on other Jewish holidays, infusing a bit of Jewish humor to lighten our exploration.
What is Passover?
Passover is a Jewish festival that commemorates the Israelites' exodus from Egypt, which is detailed in the Hebrew Bible in the Book of Exodus. The holiday lasts for eight days in most Jewish communities (seven in Israel and among some liberal Diaspora communities), and it involves a number of rituals and customs designed to remember the hardships of slavery and the joy of liberation.
The central ritual of Passover is the Seder, a festive meal where the story of the exodus is retold using a text called the Haggadah. During the Seder, families and friends gather to read the Haggadah, eat symbolic foods placed on the Passover Seder plate, and discuss the themes of freedom and slavery. Key elements of the Seder include eating matzah (unleavened bread), maror (bitter herbs), and other foods that symbolize various aspects of the exodus story.
The Significance of Pesach
Pesach is another term for Passover, and it highlights the holiday's emphasis on passing over the houses of the Israelites during the tenth plague – the slaying of the firstborn Egyptians. This event led to Pharaoh releasing the Israelites from bondage, marking the beginning of their journey to freedom. Pesach is a time for reflection on the struggle for liberation and the value of freedom, themes that resonate in many cultural and historical contexts.
Other Jewish Holidays: Purim
Purim is another joyful Jewish holiday that usually occurs a month before Passover. It commemorates the events recounted in the Book of Esther, where Queen Esther helps save the Jews from extermination in ancient Persia. Purim is marked by public readings of the Book of Esther, giving charity to the needy, exchanging gifts of food, and enjoying a festive meal. One of the more fun aspects of Purim is the tradition of dressing in costumes, which adds a playful element to the holiday.
Jewish Humor
Jewish humor, known for its wit and often self-deprecating nature, plays a significant role in how these holidays are celebrated and perceived among Jewish communities and beyond. Humor can be found in the playful customs of Purim, the creative parodies during Passover, and even in everyday life. It's an integral part of Jewish culture, offering a unique way to cope with past adversities and current challenges while celebrating joyous occasions.
Closing Thoughts
Understanding Passover and other Jewish holidays offers insight into the rich tapestry of Jewish tradition and culture. These holidays not only commemorate historical events but also offer time to reflect on broader themes of freedom, bravery, and joy. Whether you're Jewish or just interested in learning about different cultures, the stories and traditions of Jewish holidays provide valuable lessons and an opportunity for universal reflection on the human spirit's resilience.
In exploring these holidays and the humor interwoven with these traditions, we get a glimpse into the heart of Jewish cultural identity—marked by endurance, faith, and an unending zest for life. So next time you hear about Passover, Pesach, or Purim, you'll appreciate the depth and vibrancy these celebrations bring to the Jewish community and the broader world.

My favorite Monster High dolls (gen 1)
(this is a long post and i have to clarify that, while i think there are more designs i love so much, i don't think they look that good on dolls like they do on illustrations, ex: OG Abbey Bominable)
Clawdeen Wolf
My favorite, she is just iconic, THE werewolf ghoul, i love violet and golden together and boy their dolls make it work, also her brown skin makes everything better (special mention to her 1600 doll she definitly slay with that outfit)
Draculaura
She invented pink, never seen that color before the first Draculaura dolll hit the market, while she has a lot of dolls, i kinda prefer the ones that are more 'simple' but omg the Japan Exchange one? never seen something so pretty
Frankie Stein
Blue and silver neker look so great together until Frankie, i dont know how her style is called, but i love her academic chic vibe(? love her cold palette and her hair is my favorite thing ever
Cleo de Nile
THE QUEEN of Monster High, every putfit screems royalty and glam, turquoise and golden is just chef kiss, and personally i love when her hair is fully black
Lagoona Blue
Oh Lagoona i love you, her pink accents are so cute and her blonde hair with blue highlights, wish they focused more on her 'sporty laid back style' like her OG doll but he is so cute after all
CA Cupid and Viperine Gorgon
If someone says 'you can get 1 monster high, whatever you want' i would say CA cupid without doubt, everything about her is so delicate, precious and creppy and the same time, yeah she is cupid but also she has wings made with bones, how cool is that? and the black gradient? everything i ever dream in a doll
Viperine is so cool, i never pay atention to Deuce but the concept of a gorgon doll is so creative and so here is Viperine, while i always complain about the numerous dolls with pink accents or pallets, i think the pink looks so good on her and the texture of her skin and her glasses are my fav thing
Sirena Van Boo, Skelita Calaveras and Operetta
Sirena Van Boo, i fell in love with her design since i watched the movie, like i already said, i love black gradients and her hair? its perfect, i love her color pallet and her mermaid tal is one of the prettiest things i've seen in a mh doll
Skelita is a skeleton doll, a s k e l l e t o n d o l l, obviously i have to add her cause thats alone is madness, i chose this version of her cause i love the pink and turquoise together and her bad is so pretty
Operetta is one of my favs cause her concept is so cool to me, like she has a mask and yep she got me there ngl, her white, black and red style is everything plus her 60's vibes
Thats all! thanks for reading :)

Happy Twelfth Night!
Here are some Viola/Cesarios to celebrate! I've rambled a bit about the play and these different versions below~
Although it may not seem particularly festive to modern audience, the title of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night actually references the twelfth night of Christmas (marking the coming Epiphany), with some scholars theorising that it was first performed on the 6th January 1601 for Queen Elizabeth's Twelfth Night celebrations. Christmas in the Elizabethan period was associated with revels, misrule and inversion of the social order - where servants were the masters for the day and children could be crowned mock-bishops. Therefore, the play's deconstruction of social roles, particularly gender roles, would have come across as very christmassy to Elizabethan audiences.
Johnny Flynn and Anita-Joy Uwajeh's perform as Viola/Cesario in my two favourite performances of Twelfth Night: the 2012 and the 2017 Globe performances! I think they both showcase polar opposite styles of adapting the play and how they can both shine: the 2012 production is more traditional in that it reproduces much of the original performance context (Elizabethan setting, all-male cast etc) but is very watchable and honestly hilarious. Mark Rylance as Olivia especially is a highlight - he is so very elegant but is also able to make Olivia on par with the other characters in terms of comedy, despite her usually more serious role. You might recognise Johnny Flynn as Mr Knightley in Emma (2020) but he also slays hard as Viola! The 2017 production, on the other hand, showcases the strengths of modernisations of Shakespeare - I actually saw this one in person in 2017 as I was doing Twelfth Night for A-level at the time, and it was just unforgettable! The setting is shifted to 1970s Scotland and imho translates a lot of the original elements in ways that would resonate in a similar way for contemporary audiences- with songs, dance numbers and some hilarious added dialogue/quips. Even the comic characters (Sir Toby Belch and co) who are often hard to translate for modern audiences were hilarious and I found myself excited to see them come on stage. A huge stand-out is Le Gateau Chocolat as Feste, who has an incredible voice. Having a drag performer play Feste is honestly a great modern analogy as she's a performer who takes tips, is able to question social norms with her art in ways that allow her to be the most insightful character, and is also inkeeping with the play's exploration of gender. Of course, Anita- Joy Uwajeh was absolutely fantastic as Viola too. You can watch recordings of both productions on the Globe-player if you're interested!
I couldn't find anywhere to watch the 2009 Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night starring Anne Hathaway as Viola/Cesario but honestly I just wanted to draw her anyway <3 In the last few years a promo shot from this production became a really popular 'draw your OT3' meme which I myself have indulged in - it'd be cool if there was a way for more people to watch this given the resurgence of interest!

Pairing: Elle argent x m!drag queen! Reader.
Trigger warning: none. Reader is a drag queen.
Note: love my drag queen community. Slay.
a drag queen known for your bold and fierce makeup looks, sitting down with Elle Argent, ready to work your magic on her. The energy in the room is electric, and Elle’s excited smile shows her trust in you to transform her into a glam queen for the night.
Elle sits in the chair, her long, slender fingers fidgeting with excitement. Her soft, caramel-colored skin catches the light perfectly as you prepare your brushes and palettes. You’ve done hundreds of faces before, but working with someone like Elle—a style icon with a graceful beauty—feels special. She radiates both elegance and a quiet confidence, and you can’t wait to enhance her natural glow.
“Ready for this?” you ask, twirling a large makeup brush between your fingers with a wink.
Elle laughs softly, her eyes sparkling. “More than ready! Make me fabulous.”
You start by laying down the base, a flawless, airbrushed foundation that makes her skin look smooth and luminous. Elle’s soft features are the perfect canvas, and you take your time to contour her high cheekbones and sculpt her face with precision. The goal is to create that perfect mix of feminine beauty and exaggerated drag glam, blending the worlds of everyday beauty and bold artistry.
As you work on her brows, shaping them into sharp, arched perfection, Elle watches intently in the mirror. “I love how strong this looks already,” she says with awe in her voice.
“Wait till you see the eyes, darling,” you respond with a playful grin, reaching for your brightest eyeshadows.
You decide on a bold, neon cut crease with glitter accents—something that will make her eyes pop under the stage lights. You carefully blend the shades, layering electric blues and purples that contrast beautifully with her soft, warm skin tone. The glitter you apply to her lids catches the light, sparkling like diamonds every time she blinks.
“Now for the lashes,” you declare, pulling out a pair of dramatic, fluttery falsies.
Elle’s eyes widen as she sees the lashes. “Are those wings or lashes?” she jokes, but she’s clearly excited.
“Both, honey. You’re about to fly,” you say with a wink, carefully applying the lashes to her eyes. The transformation is already striking—her features have gone from naturally stunning to drag royalty in mere minutes.
Next is the highlight, because no drag look is complete without blinding shine. You apply a shimmering gold highlight to the tops of her cheekbones, her nose, and her cupid’s bow, creating an ethereal glow that catches the light from every angle. You can’t help but step back for a moment, admiring your work.
“Look at you!” you exclaim, genuinely impressed. “Elle Argent, you’re a queen!”
Elle giggles, her gaze shifting between the mirror and you. “I’ve never looked like this before. It’s amazing. I feel so powerful!”
For the final touch, you reach for a deep, glossy lip color—something bold to complete the look. You carefully paint her lips with a rich burgundy shade that adds just the right amount of drama.
When you’re done, you spin her chair toward the mirror for the final reveal. Elle’s face lights up in pure awe as she takes in the full look. Her reflection stares back at her with glittering eyes, sculpted cheekbones, and the perfect blend of softness and drag intensity.
“Wow,” she breathes, turning her face to catch the highlight shimmering on her skin. “I feel like a totally different person.”
“Good,” you say, placing a hand on her shoulder. “That’s the power of drag. It’s about transformation, but it’s also about embracing every side of yourself. And trust me, you’re serving right now.”
Elle stands up, giving herself one last look in the mirror before twirling around dramatically, her face glowing with confidence. “Thank you,” she says sincerely. “You’ve turned me into a goddess.”
You smile, feeling proud of the work you’ve done. “Honey, you were always a goddess. I just gave you a little extra sparkle.”

https://www.tumblr.com/thephantomcasebook/716821484228706304/dyana-returning-for-s2-and-possibly-being-involved?source=share I would like to read your thoughts on this post. Is it true that viserys ii put a taboo on the name of her parents? Besides Luke was sending as a messenger, Aemond was not to kill him, and Luke's dragon had no chance against Aemond's dragon. And in what part does Martin establish that blacks are the villains?
*EDITED POST* 10/23/23
I'm just going to be rude (not targeting you, though). Everything this user says, ignore it, it's bullshit. Not just in this post, I mean, everything.
For how Aegon III and Viserys II, why didn't declare Rhaenyra to be a legitimate monarch to be historically called "Rhaenyra I" (despite the multiple times she's called "Queen" or "the queen" in Fire and Blood-vol 1, esp after she takes KL), look to this POST. There was no damn "taboo", this is a gross exaggeration, no, a LIE about the situation. Possibly a self-delusion born from an inability to use deductive reasoning.
Being a villain or antagonist is a position that doesn't change, and I'm not referring to plot twists...twists does not shake off the reality of a smart villain or antagonists working against the protagonist or MCs in the shadows. All villains are antagonists, not all antagonists are morally bankrupt or "too far gone" like a villain.
First, protagonist =/= "good person". It just means "who's fighting for something against them/who is this story about". The antagonist(s) is the force/figures set against the protagonist, and thus they do not have to be "good" nor "bad". However, the Dance's protagonist is Rhaenyra. It is written about her rise, endurance, and fall.
Second, while a character can be dark, turn dark, or be an anti-hero, for a writer to try to actually make THE protagonist THE villain or the antagonist, the actual antagonist would have to also become the protagonist and the entire story will have become entirely different in themes, etc. Thus, you cannot establish the greens as protagonists or the "good guys" bc they are neither the winner, the person in the morally superior position, NOR who the Dance of the Dragons is about or whose struggle the Dance narrates.
The villains AND antagonists of the Dance are the greens. While the blacks have members who are not good people (classist, misogynist, etc.), they are leagues better than the greens and are meant to be their foils where one highlights the other's qualities to reveal the differing qualities between them. An example is how Daemon, while having beaten an adult messenger, AEMOND is the one to kill a young boy acting as an envoy who never reached Westerosi majority (16) because he felt like it. The same boy also happened to be Aemond's nephew, which includes kin slaying, something Daemon didn't do until Lucerys was murdered.
Even though I am sure Daemon would have no trouble killing Aemond and the rest of his green Targ family if he could get away with it before any green tried for him and Rhaenyra or their own, the point I am making is that the greens are misogynist, classist, etc x100. And they (aside from Jaehaerys I, he's long term and Viserys I, he made many stupid decisions for his daughter) short term caused the Dance.
Finally, yes, Lucerys had absolutely no chance of surviving Vhagar nor Aemond, since:
Aemond has a deep grudge not just about the eye, but bc he sincerely believed that the Velaryon boys had no right over him to the throne and thinks them inherently lesser, so their being heirs and ahead of him in the succession line troubles his identity/aristocratic masculinity -> this fueled him to pursue Luke when he absolutely didn't have to, and to the detriment and horror of Alicent/Otto/the green cause
Vhagar is the biggest living dragon at this point in time and is battle-hardened/experienced
Luke went out expecting to be safe bc his envoy/status, so he was totally unprepared
Luke was 14 when he did and didn;t seem trained in fighting w/a dragon -- unprepared
This wasn't a fight, it was an execution.
