i'm tiny bit disappointed seeing that most people in my notes reblogging and liking 1670 related posts are polish, because, like… if it was a comedy sitcom set in the 1600s england y'all would be eating it up no matter where you're from. and i think lots of people don't want to watch 1670 because "it's polish". so what? most period dramas are "english" or "american" or whatever and people from all over the world still watch and enjoy them. do you think i know every single cultural context or historical person brought up in these popular american/british period dramas? hell no. i still watch and enjoy them, though. and 1670 is not even "for polish people only" with its humour. there are a few jokes like that but overall it is an universal tv show about the middle ages and modern times (at least in the european context). so yeah…
Saw someone in a tiktok comment section saying they got their sexual awakening from Kurt Russell in The Thing (1982) which is absolutely hysterical to imagine trying to watch THE THING for the first time and then all of a sudden your brain starts doing this:
Looking at r/Deltarune to see what theories ppl have come up with based on That One Valentine and it’s soooooooo funny to me that every single post about it is the same. Actual quotes from the subreddit:
“How do we know this is gaster”
“Why else would it mention the letter being impossible to understand at the start”
“It doesn’t have the signature stilted tone gaster’s always had”
“It doesn’t read like gaster in English at all”
“I feel like the beginning narration, the all caps, and the style of writing clearly point to gaster”
“We have no real reason to think he’d talk this way… ever”
It’s back and forth with these general opinions, especially of ‘oh that’s not how he talks’ and I’m just sitting here like
1. When you are a scientist, you do not necessarily talk the same in academic contexts as you do in casual contexts. For the most part, I speak COMPLETELY differently from my papers I’ve written for school compared to when I’m flirting with my partner.
