Spinning in full garb at the Carolina Ren Faire
(If you turn on sound be prepared for the jovial shouts of children and conversations of other faire goers...quiet filming does not exist at ren faires lol)
Took the opportunity to spin in period character while at the ren faire with my partner and kids on Saturday. Got lots of fun questions from other faire goers, many nods of respect from faire staff, and spun about 25-30g of wool. 🥰
Loads of fun, 10/10 would recommend doing period fiber arts as cosplay.

Some Fronnie n a very positive Freddy!
As much as I enjoy Freddy being the slightly taller one….the idea of it being GB instead is so good to me…

Drew the scruckly lil star/Pines twins!! I really like how this turned out, even with it being more simple. I think that's partly what gives it so much charm. (These two are so so dear to me, it's unreal).
I've kinned both these goobers at different points of my life, they are me. I literally remember the Gooblewalker episode being my very first ever instance of Gravity Falls, pelican and all! Albeit not my fav episode, it definitely holds the most sentimental value to me. And it means a lot to me that I can draw these characters I love so much, how little me always wanted them to look

Made a snail yesterday too actually. Turns out it's very easy to make a terrible snail. His name is Snorbert (short for Snail Norbert, of course).
The sheep's name is southdown, for anyone curious, due to incredible resemblance between him and the southdown in my Fleece and Fiber Sourcebook.

Happy holidays, @sola-nine!! I had the pleasure of being your secret santa for this year’s @natsume-ss exchange. Since your likes included nyanko-sensei and found family, I made you a winter-themed felted nyanko figurine + a microfic (below the cut) to go along with it!
I’m sorry your gift took so long to post, but hopefully you find it worth the wait! I’ll mail him out soon, and I hope he makes his way to you safe and sound ♥️🧣
——— Takashi stared down at the floor. He couldn’t bring himself to meet Touko’s eyes as he showed her the once-lovely muffler she’d knit for him, ruined now with snags and holes.
“Oh dear,” Touko said, fingers fluttering over the frayed yarn, “How did this happen?”
“I… I didn’t…” Takashi flushed. He couldn’t tell her about the many-eyed spirit that chased him deep into the woods, or the plunge he’d taken down a hillside. He shouldn’t cause trouble for someone so kind.
He hung his head. “I’m sorry.”
“Are you hurt anywhere?”
Takashi glanced up in surprise. Touko was frowning, but she didn’t look angry or disappointed about the mess he’d made of her hard work. She looked… worried.
“I’m fine!” Takashi hurried to say. His elbows and knees prickled under his winter clothes, but surely they weren’t worth Touko’s attention. He tried to retreat towards the stairs as politely as he could, but Nyanko-sensei headbutted his leg and Takashi stumbled, hissing in pain despite himself.
“Takashi-kun!” exclaimed Touko, a new steel to her voice, and there were no more chances for escape.
The muffler went to the kitchen table and Takashi went to the nearest chair. The first-aid kit came out from the cupboard and trouser legs were carefully rolled up.
Touko tutted at the sight of Takashi’s skinned knees and set to work, dousing cotton balls in antiseptic and dabbing away at the raw red scrapes. The muffler was the last thing on her mind, but Takashi could only stare at it while Touko fussed over him. He hoped she would let him keep it, precious to him even in tatters.
———
Late in the evening, while the rest of the house was asleep, a light burned on in the kitchen. Yarn and shears and needles were strewn about on the table, and Touko was fiddling with something in its midst.
“Hmm… Some of it was too torn to mend, but it would be a shame to throw the whole thing away, don’t you think?”
She stepped back to admire her handiwork. Nyanko-sensei sat on the tabletop, a familiar red muffler wrapped around his neck. With worst of the damage frogged and the smaller holes darned, the muffler was too short for a boy to wear, but perfectly long enough for a cat.
“This will have to do while I make a new one.” Touko smiled down at Nyanko. “You’ll keep him warm until then, won’t you?”
A meow was all the reply she got, but Touko thought it rather sounded like a promise.

Thought I'd mark the end of the mad knitting rush by sharing what I'd made. There's a couple of summer tank tops I'll want to make, but I won't have the same drive to knitknitknit in quite the same way.
Now the only things I'll have to keep me occupied whist watching youtube videos are sewing and drawing :) Patterns for them that wants 'em: Into the Wild by Tania BarleyEarth Pullover by OzettaWinona Polo Heavyweight Edition by Emily Y Chen

I have a question for knitters/fiber craft people.
I have a wool yarn that I want to use to make a cardigan. It’s worsted weight and it’s label says to use between 4.5 mm - 5.5 mm needles. I have 5.0 mm needles so no problem there. The pattern I’m using, however, says to use 6.0 mm needles with worsted weight yarn.
So do I follow the pattern or the label the yarn comes with??

Look at him. He’s just a little guy! (he’s not little, he’s 6’3 and in heels)
The sword was designed by my friend, Ulta! (I don’t think he has a tumblr but I still feel like I should credit him)

Lover's Mittens, two pairs of colorwork done in the traditional rose/snowflake pattern seen in Selbuvotter, a type of stranded mitten patterns from Selbu, Norway.
I made two pairs of mittens, one for my friend and one for her fiance, plus a mitten my friends affectionately call the "Smitten", where you can hold hands! Note on the pattern: when making the Smitten, the join between the cuffs leaves a giant hole. I chose to use a sew-on label to cover that, it says Love in Every Stitch.
There are a little under 18,000 stitches in this pattern, one for every day of fifty years of happiness.

Body felted and now to add the dyed wool to match her paint. I’ll need to unfortunately add more paint too, and seal over that. Gotta figure out a better sealing method/medium or something so the paint isn’t so easily chipped. This is just damage from being in my bag, carefully packed in a littler bag to protect her.
