I was giving @asica-black a tour of my "2024 trip to London" photo album. We were looking at "what are we going to do" aaa paintings and stuff at the national portrait gallery and came across King George IV :(.

Which do you think is a better concept, sanitized ink(and sensitization in general) or the fuzzy ooze?

I feel like in order to say which is "better" we need to break it down into parts.

In terms of the general theming and aesthetics, i think that sanitization clears the Fuzzy Ooze. Like just look at this.

The sickly green and blue. The darked eyeballs. It looks so acidic and gross, and i like that. It really gives off the vibe of a poison and something you don't wanna touch.

Compare that to Fuzzy Ooze and it's just... purple trippy ink and fur. I mean it looks cool, i like the effect, but it doesn't hit the same as the Sanitized Ink.

Now the actual effects? I'm gonna be real. I don't realllyyyyy like either of them to an extent.

Oh wow, Sanitized Ink is brainwashing goo that removes memories and makes you into a mind controlled zombie that follows the orders of Tartar, how fun! Yay! So interesting... I love when the Splatoon series uses the same tired trope of "it's the thing you know, but it's EVIL NOW!!!!!!!" wow... Really creative huh Nintendo... I'm sure that it won't cause a wave of millions of people to not properly look into the stories and just take them at the surface level and just say that everything is the same affliction..... yay.... ugh... i hate everything...

I will say though, i like the sort of medical undertones of Sanitized Ink and everything to do with Acht is very interesting and cool! Although in Side Order they kinda fucked it up by saying that Acht was forced to make music for Tartar due to the goop instead of being a thing where Acht wanted to make music without the doubts in their head. So... yeahhhh... I don't know how to feel about having YET ANOTHER thing in the Splatoon series that's just "oh it's this evil thing that makes stuff evil!! ooooo!!! brainwashing oooo!!!!"

I'm tired of it. I had enough. STOP!!!! ENOUGH NINTENDO!!!!!!! YOU'RE NOT SMART! YOU'RE NOT INTERESTING! BE MORE CREATIVE! DO BETTER!!!! Anyways, Fuzzy Ooze on the other hand is kinda... vague? Like really really vague. What we do know is that it makes a creature "lose their sense of self" whatever the FUCK that means i do not know. Sometimes it makes Inklings and Octolings turn into fuzzy little creatures, or it gives them weed eyes. I guess both options aren't as bad as becoming zombies. I guess....

However, i think this vagueness really opens the door for very interesting fan interpretations. I love seeing people make fuzzy versions of the characters and turning them into these feral monsters that have claws and sharp teeth, it's so fucking sick and way cooler than just "oooo brainwashing oooooo!!!! its the thing you know but EVIL!"

I would rather take a fuzzy au over a sanitization au you know? It opens the door for more creativity.

To wrap it up, i like the aesthetics and thematic undertones of Sanitized Ink, but i prefer the vague effects of the Fuzzy Ooze as it opens the door for interpretations.

Conclusion: it was okay. There were parts I genuinely liked. There are things that also bug me to no end. The soundtrack from the original series would’ve fit way better and a lot of times it sounded like an off brand marvel track. Acting and cgi was a lot better (at times.) An improvement on the first one, and a semi-worthwhile watch if you have nothing else to do and you like fma. Cannot and will never be a substitute for the original obviously. Seems like less of a cash grab and more of a genuine effort this time which I appreciate. Overall? 6.5/10

Ooooo final girls from each dorm!!! That's such a fun question. Here are my thoughts!!! ^w^

Heartslabyul's final girl would be Cater. He's so perfect for the final girl trope! You think he might die first because he's pretty and can't let go of his phone for the life of him, but when he gets serious he can be very cutthroat. <3 the idiotic duo would have to be Ace and Deuce. Deuce hears a strange noise and wants to check it out because he's definitely not scared of demons or killers and he'll beat up anything that tries to hurt him and his friends. Ace thinks he's trying to prank him, but he begrudgingly follows him, thinking it's either nothing and Deuce is trying to scare him or it'll just turn out to be something with a completely natural explanation. It's neither, and while they're both bickering the killer looms from behind. Riddle is the logical one who tries to put everything into perspective and figure out a logical reason behind everything. Trey is, unsurprisingly, the mom friend who just wants everyone to stay in one place because hopefully the authorities will show up soon (they never will).

Savanaclaw's final girl is Ruggie. He's resourceful and cunning; you think he may die first, but he's actually very good at survival. He'll live, but he comes out of the horrific night covered in blood after he's just fought the killer to the death. Jack is your typical jock, kind-hearted and caring, who doesn't believe in any of that ghost stuff or horror movie trope stuff, but when it becomes too real he gets even more serious than before, determined to survive and protect those close to him. Leona strikes me as the type who, upon the first sign of something suspicious or dangerous, promptly leaves. He will not be swept up in any murder plots, no thank you. <3 either that or he sleeps through it all and the killer thinks he's dead at first glance LOL.

Octavinelle's final girl would be Floyd. As goofy as he is, he's also another cutthroat guy who can and will survive. He may throw himself directly at danger, but somehow he always comes out of it alive. Jade is your typical killer-in-hiding. You won't suspect him until it's too late, and by then nearly half the cast is dead. Azul is the type who acts like an ally to everyone, but he's secretly either plotting with the killer or planning to sacrifice everyone in order to save himself.

Scarabia's final girl is Jamil. Most of his decisions are made solely to protect Kalim (who naturally is the comedic relief/carefree friend who is just too sweet for this world), but there's a build-up in this movie where the plot twist is that Jamil ultimately ends up tricking Kalim. Is it possible for both him and Jamil to survive? Perhaps, but this isn't that kind of movie. :) and from the bloodshed, Jamil emerges, alive, exhausted, and traumatized. (Or I could also see Jamil as a killer-in-hiding and Kalim as the final girl; it fits either way in my mind hehe!! :D)

Pomefiore's final girl is either Epel or Vil. It's hard to choose just one of them for the trope because I feel like it can fit them both in different ways. Rook is obviously the killer-in-hiding or he's just that really unnerving character who happens to know too much about how a killer thinks. >_< Vil as a final girl would be so cool because I think he can also be quite cutthroat. He's the character type who spends most of his focus on himself throughout the movie, yet he still manages to survive. How, you may ask? He weaponized various beauty products or, my most favorite idea, he fought the killer in heels and won, by which the heels absolutely became his weapon. >:) Epel as a final girl would be somewhat surprising because he's the character who no one really expects to live because he's "so petite and cute and omg how will he ever survive the big, scary killer!!!!" D: but then Epel shocks everyone when he ends up arming himself with brass knuckles or a baseball bat to go hunt down the killer himself.

Ignihyde's final girl is Idia, but then he also fits into the loser nerd category. Idia as a final girl is a little frustrating because he spends the entire movie being prideful and rude to the other characters, so everyone sort of wants him to be killed off first because he's so unlikable. But because Idia's seen all of these tropes before and knows his way around a horror movie, he ends up surviving. Ortho survives as well, but then I can also picture him being something of a sci-fi horror villain (i.e. technology becomes bad and targets humans). It's something like in book six where he was giving the students little tests in order to advance to the next level. Just a little villainous and devious!

Diasomnia's final girl is Silver. The stress of the situation manages to keep him awake, and so he's mainly in survival mode for the entirety of the film. Silver does his best to protect everyone, even putting himself at risk if it means he can save his friends. Sebek likely puts up a good fight, but he's far too stubborn and can't be quiet to save his life, so he ends up getting killed. I feel like Lilia could be a killer-in-hiding, or he's just the mischievous trickster type. Malleus could also be a killer-in-hiding, or he's the trope of "misunderstood character with a reputation that is solely rumors who turns out to be quite sweet and helpful to the main character."

ohh how was the laser experience ??

OOOOO ok under the cut bc i wanna give a good breakdown

1. price

idk how much it costs where y'all are from but here its super expensive, so i waited until the place i wanted to get it from had their annual sale. i got 12 sessions for the underarms, brazilian and full legs for 1000 NZD (normally 2000 NZD so i got 50% off)

also the laser place i went to kinda scammed me and said i had to buy this tube of after care cream for like 60 bucks... you don't need to, don't make the same mistake i did....vaseline is fine as long as you don't have any allergies or sensitivities to it

2. the experience

so my first few sessions were a little awkard bc i didnt know what to expect. they essentially made me strip down to my bra. for the first 6 sessions, the pain wasn't too bad, just some light stinging where my skin was more sensitive (like around my ankles, knees and brazilian). but hoooo boy by my 7th session, they turned the settings up and i was physically flinching and sometimes yelping - they would ask if i was ok to continue and i would say yes, but dont be scared to speak up if you wanna take a break!!!!

3. the outcome

they say laser works best if your hair is dark compared to your skin.. so if you have lighter hair and/or darker skin, it might not work as well on you. after the 3rd session, i really started to notice the difference. a few months after i finished my last session, i had minimal and slow regrowth. a few months ago, i bought an ipl machine myself, so now that there's minimal work, i just do it myself at home. i just do my underarms, brazilian and my knees since those are the places that still show some regrowth. i haven't done ANY hair removal on my legs in more than a year. same stuff applies - shave before you do it, moisturizer on after, and avoid showering/sweating/swimming for 24 hours after!!

Buck can fight, but he's just retired to fight. Just tends the Bar he owes

OURGH eva's voice is low, but not bass low he's a baritone. it's lower than julian's and lower than like buggy/skuggy's but still has the ability to go high. it's very. controlled and regulated in terms of volume and pitch and it can sound bored or blunt and impatient to others when just speaking normally but that's just how he speaks. he is a good singer because his parents wanted him 2 be good in both the arts and the core subjects because that way he'll be respected in richpeople land. if i weren't a coward he'd have a (not super heavy) german accent bc his family was german but alas. his laugh is mostly just like an exhale chuckle. he chuckles. but when he laughs unrestrained it starts out loud and tapers out to just giggles

if he had the ability and unlimited access to totally free, risk-free, reversible body modification he would be swapping out his look every hour. this is why he distorts into a giant messy jumble of wires that never stays in one shape or color or form

Jason’s memories hazy but very clearly remember moments of maybe like Dickie trying to convince him to stop, brief moments of Freakshow monologuing... and now he got the tailor end of what Freakshow was planning to do.

Spooky bdubs fic !

TW ; death, some slight gore, uhh general spooky possession stuff ? mention of insects (but nothing graphic)

(Also the second part is a lot lighter, if you want max horror, only read until the OoOoO line lmao)

It all started in a forest. The day was bright, the sunbeams gently falling on the figure lying in the middle of the clearing. A gentle and warm wind was gently playing with his short and messy brown hair, and curious bees were coming closer to the bright red headband, to see if it might not be a flower. 

He was curled a bit on his side, eyes closed, resting on a large patch of moss that looked quite fluffy and comfortable, littered here and there by tiny flowers. One of his hands was resting on his chest, holding a communicator.

You could hear the sound of leaves rustling, the birds' songs, the buzzing of the bees.

Not the man's breath or heartbeats. 

A growing halo of red slowly colored the plants surrounding his head, and beneath his stomach where a gaping wound was slashed open, intestines peeking out and almost spilling. If you looked around, you could clearly see the path he had taken. The trail of crimson and the occasional bloody handprint on a tree he had used to stay upright a little longer. Already curious scavengers were coming closer, attracted by the smell of death. 

But they knew better than to step into the clearing. 

The multiple small skeletons half buried into the moss were the proof that this was not a place you left once you’d stepped in. 

The moss just didn’t have to kill its prey this time, it had done a good job perishing on its own. The human had only needed the smallest suggestion to go that way, when he had fled the ones seeking his demise. 

And now, it had a new thing ! How exciting ! The moss hadn’t seen a human in so long… In fact, it would be a shame to waste the opportunity and let rot a perfectly functional vessel. Animals were too small or unwieldy, and they didn’t have a soul to absorb. The moss had no way to know how to act even if it wanted to inhabit them. It had been staying rooted here for such a long time, gorging itself on the death of everything passing by, attracting them with lush vegetation and the slightest touch of compulsion magic (not that it knew what it was called then).

The human brain, and body though, was quite fascinating. And how convenient ! The moss had direct access to it, no need to go through the skin, there were already openings it could get into. 

And it… woke up. Stil moss (magical maybe but just a plant in the end), but also More. It opened its eyes wide, wide, to take in every single visual input. It was not used to sight, and while a little overwhelming (especially combined with the rest of its new senses) it was just delightful. Using a combination of the knowledge gained when the moss ate the soul and muscle memory, it stretched its mouth in a big toothy smile.

This was how you expressed happiness, wasn’t it ? 

The… man ? Human ? Mossman ? What should it use to refer to itself ? Looked at the device in its hand and powered it up with some of its energy. (The communicator, who had died with its owner, glitched once, twice, before lighting up.)

(Above the thing that was once a plant and once a man, now both, flickered a name tag. It had disappeared with the man's last breath. Now it was back, just… slightly different.)

The newly named BdoubleO100, no longer the same person, got up and took one, two unsteady steps, almost falling back down before managing to walk out of its place of birth. 

It had some exploring to do. 

(Never once thinking about who the dead might have left behind. About the friends, the family, the pointless conflict that had led him to his end.

What it did think about later, was his dreams. To fight just for fun, to build a pretty house, to be able to rest in a comfortable bed during the night. That seemed fun, interesting ! It had no concept of honoring dead wishes, but when years down the line he’d reflect back on it after having learned to live amongst players, he would come to the conclusion that this ghost would be able to rest easily.)

It took him some time, but Bdubs (as it liked to be called) had learned how to integrate into player society. While he had been able to access the previous host of the body’s memories, and seen it theoretically, it was an entirely another thing to actually experience living amongst others.

It had left its birth server pretty quickly, wanting to see more. The first few interactions with people had been… quite something for sure. Made him almost ashamed of how he acted in retrospect. But he was far from the only weird being running around so ultimately it hadn’t really been a problem. 

(Unconsciously, the thing called Bdubs had become more and more player-like ; it started experiencing emotions, making friends, finding hobbies and interests, and chose his own pronouns after some time thinking about it.

It started creating, inventing and not just copying. 

It was a slow and gradual process, and when after years of it happening, Bdubs finally realised how much he had changed, he was glad to have evolved so much.)

Hermitcraft (though it did take him some decades of roaming around and trying different servers before he got invited) was probably the best thing that happened to him other than finding a body.

There he could be himself ; a player, but still pretty weird. 

The nice thing was that he was far from the only strange one. The sheer variety of origins, the general over the top scale of buildings and events, the relatively small number of people, everything was perfect. 

He could be loud, brash, violent even if he wanted, and as long as it was not malicious, in the long run things between them all would always be fine. 

It loved his fellow Hermits so much he would sometimes sprout flowers unconsciously when hanging out with them and having fun. 

Now, this was all well and good, but Bdubs still had a tiiiiny little problem with its own state of being. 

His body was dead. Which meant no actual healing, he had to correct things with his moss on the inside when he was wounded, and respawning was only mildly effective.

So his body… ended up falling apart after a while.

Meaning, he regularly needed a new one. 

It was not the most socially acceptable process ? Unlike Cleo, who did need to replace her body parts on a regular basis, he couldn’t just cut off an Hermit or a zombie’s limb, sew it on himself and call it a day. He had tried, but these parts would just keep rotting faster than the rest of the base body. They smelled too, and his moss had more trouble integrating them to the system ; they felt foreign, like a prosthesis. 

No, he had to, err, steal a new entire one. 

He was lucky ; Hermitcraft’s gentle respawn system meant that wear and tear took a while and a lot of death before he needed to hunt for that new one. 

Well, as long as the season didn’t drag on for ages. Season 6 was. Something. It had been able to pass the continuous re solidification of his body as “being taken by the jungle”. He didn’t think it was very hard to see there was something more to it, but well, Hermitcraft was a strange place in general and story magic was a thing that happened and changed people temporarily for the sake of the narration so maybe not. 

As getting a new fresh body implied finding someone that would be perma-dead, well. Asking the Hermits to lend him one would just not work, unfortunately. He’s sure they would do it in a heartbeat otherwise (just like when it came to Cleo’s needs). 

It did mean that he had to be careful not to die too much, respawn, and damage and strain his body (already kinda bursting at the seams because of all the moss inside). 

And the moment the seasons ended, in the gentle lull between that final leave and the new beginning, he was roaming servers far away to get a proper fresh start.

(No Hermit ever asked why Bdubs’s body changed every so often. Why he was blond sometimes and had brown hair another season. His face was always the same old Bdubs after all. Big eyes and big toothy smile. Who cared if the rest was clearly different.)

The main problem he had these days were the life games. As funny and entertaining as they were, the respawn mechanic was rough. And he was grateful the total number of lives was small and limited, and that the games never lasted too long, because they made him go through a body each time. It was a bit of a pain, but they were too interesting to stop. 

(Impulse, even after sharing his bed with him, never asked why his body temperature was never right, and why he tended to sprout vegetation on various parts of his limbs.)

The Hermits knew better than to ask. They didn’t mind Otherness, he was far from the only weird one on the server. 

But. 

Did Bdubs really have to remove the heads of all of his previous bodies, to sell them ? They smelled, and were full of insects…
