I don't use social media that much anymore, but I saw this and I remembered ,,Hey I modified that one's code to work better on mobile" so I thought I would share how I did it!
(Disclaimer; I don't know how to code in CSS, I've only coded in C++ and thus mostly just... Deleted code and shortened the words, so if you can make this work better/in a not half baked way, then please do share!) This is basically how it looks;
Tumblr media
For starters, install the extension the same way you would on a PC, it was the exact same procedure if I remember correctly (at least on Firefox, can't speak for Chrome)
Then you should be able to: go to extensions -> [whatever you used to run the code, in my case TamperMonkey] -> settings -> Installed Userscripts, and be able to see the and edit the code of the comment box script
Once there I went to shorten the text (as I have no idea how to properly set the sizes of everything) which is this line right here!
Tumblr media
Just shorten what's in between the " ", without deleting them, I personally went with "Insert" only, but you can replace it with any text (shorter or more specific if you need!)
(Tiny side note here, when i comment quoting the Fanfic, I personally use the <blockquote> command and not the <i>, so if you want to change that instead of reviewing it manually, down there on line number 357 you can change the <i> </i> for the command you may use!)
For the "Add to Comment Box", I just shortened it to "Add" here on line 339
Tumblr media
I had no idea how to edit the size of the "Font Size" bar, and just... Scrapped the code that displays it. Which is not the best thing to do, but I don't know this coding language and it was my best attempt; here from line 205 to line 222, delete it all
Tumblr media
For the other commands, I just shortened them from "Delete" to "Del", "Full Chapter" to "Full", and "By Chapter" to "Chp" in the lines 273, 305, and 306 respectively;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And lastly! Once I had done all this, I noticed it was noticeably better, but now the box is too big for my screen! If this is a problem for you as it was me, you can change the outside box's size here;
Tumblr media
(personally lowered it to "95%" and it worked perfectly fine, you can experiment with the other commands of this however to make it as long, short, tall or whatever else you may need!)
Note I did this all in my phone backtracking to my laptop's code, so this could definitely be better, and be done better first in a computer and then passed to phone. But essentially, that is all!!
Last couple of notes here, I changed both the "0" and "X" for opening/closing the box to ":3" and "xP" in the code because I just like it that way okay. (Change both "0"s that are there, as one is the first-time-appearing "0" and the second being the one that stays once you've already closed the box)
Tumblr media
As well as also changing the blue colour of the select boxes to green, because I like green. These are the (easy) changeable hex codes for colour edition! The bed code next to primary is the blue colour, which I changed to green; success is the colour of a successfully inserted section, or added comment (to the ao3 box), which is green in the original code; and danger is the red tone of both the Delete button as well as the one for closing the box
Tumblr media
In the spirit of encouraging people to comment on fanfics while also making it easier to do so, I feel obliged to share a browser extension for ao3 that has quite literally revolutionized the comment game for me.
I present to you: the floating ao3 comment box!
From what I've seen, a big problem for many people is that once you reach the comments at the bottom of a fic, your memory of it miraculously disappears. Anything you wanted to say is stuck ten paragraphs ago, and you barely remember what you thought while reading. This fixes that!
I'll give a little explanation on the features and how it works, but if you want to skip all that, here's the link.
The extension is visible as a small blue box in the upper left corner.
(Side note: The green colouring is not from the extension, that's me.)
Tumblr media
If you click on it, you open a comment box window at the bottom of your screen but not at the bottom of the fic. I opened my own fic for demonstrative purposes.
Tumblr media
The website also gives explanations on how exactly it functions, but I'll summarize regardless.
insert selection -> if you highlight a sentence in the fic it will be added in italics to the comment box
add to comment box -> once you're done writing your comment, you click this button and the entire thing will automatically copied to the ao3 comment box
delete -> self explanatory
on mulitchapter fics, you will be given the option to either add the comment to just the current chapter or the entire fic
The best part? You can simply close the window the same way you opened it and your progress will automatically be saved. So you can open it, comment on a paragraph, and then close it and keep reading without having the box in your face.
Comments are what keep writers going, and as both a writer and a reader, I think it's such an easy way of showing support and enthusiasm.

i need more mutuals who are into coding and engineering!! more info under the cut!!
I planned to become an electrical engineer like my stepdad but then I decided to change my path to programming. I'm currently studying at technikum (<- wikipedia link so I don't have to explain the whole polish learning system), programmer major.
this year I have exams from web development (10th Jan - theory, 16th Jan - practical exams) and next year I have exams from App development (both mobile and desktop).
I know C family languages, Java, Python and those ones I am currently using. I also know a bit of Kotlin and I think I will continue learning it.
For web dev I know HTML and CSS ofc but also PHP and JS.
Planning on learning more languages I can use for App and operating system development as well as just to know them cause I want to after this year's exams!
my learning list:
Lua (I heard it's easy but I can't really get myself to read anything about this atm idk why)
Ruby
Assembly
Rust
As for electrical engineering I don't know much tbh but I would like to learn! I just used CAD programs for technical drawings (dad taught me some basic things when I was still thinking about going his path) helped my dad fix things on his Solar farm, houses of our neighbors and I made a few very simple circuits for fun a few years ago. Now I'm mostly focused on programming but since I learned most of the things I need for exams I have more time to do whatever I want now!
I'd like to get to know more people so I can share and mostly learn new things since even though I'm coding for years I consider myself a beginner and I am a total beginner when it comes to electrical engineering.
I'm willing to be friends or at least mutuals with anyone who codes or makes websites or is in STEM! no matter what your specialty/interest is exactly and no matter if you are a total beginner or a professional ^__^
I'd also like to have some mutuals who are into old web development and retro computing!!!!!!!!
edit: I forgot but I'm also interested in physics and quantum physics

Hi, I wonder how are you creating your wip? Do you write it in google docs and then code it in Twine? I'm starting making my own and I'm looking for some technical tips
Hi! Thanks so much for the ask! It's always good to see new authors starting their own IFs. This might be a bit long so I'll put everything under a read more for those of you who aren't interested.
For me personally, I write in LibreOffice, which is a free alternative to Microsoft Office/Word. But, you can definitely use Google Docs or whatever other writing program you prefer!
As for coding, you can just code in Twine, but I like to code some as I write so I don't forget when to set certain variables. If you don't want to code anything in your draft, then I'd recommend at least leaving yourself reminders at places you'd like to add variables or when you want to have skill checks or anything else of the sort.
I should mention that a lot of people dislike coding in Twine, the code isn't set apart from the text visually and can be confusing for some, so if that's the case for you, I'd recommend checking out something like Notepad++ for coding and then copy and pasting everything into Twine once you're done.
If you do use Notepad++, and you're also using SugarCube, I'd highly recommend downloading and using this to add SugarCube as a custom language to the program so your code is easier to read. (You'll be able to select it as the coding language in Notepad++ after downloading and following the directions, though you may need to exit and restart the program before it shows up in the language list).
Some other great resources I use: The Twine Cookbook (of course), SugarCube Documentation or Harlowe (if you prefer), some templates (including the one I use!) [1] [2] [3], and w3schools tutorials for basics in CSS and JavaScript (assuming you don't know how to code in them already, if you do, that's great!)
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! I'm no coding expert but I have taken a few classes on Web Dev stuff in college so I know a thing or two.
Best of luck to you on your project anon!😊

hi there, i'm trying to get into the coding community so to speak. what sites can i join to discuss/do coding related stuff? I know about stack overflow, github and leetcode but i'm sure there are more, do you have any advice on which spaces are worth joining? thanks!
Communities To Join For Coding/Programming
Tumblr media
Yeah I can help! In terms of "which spaces are worth joining" would depend on you. What I see as a place worth joining is a place where I can teach others - I like giving knowledge back on what I learnt so some places that I listed don't work well for me to do that and some others I prefer the most like the discord servers I'll mention. So, you'll have to skim through these and see if they're something you like!
Anyhoo, here are some places I found:
Reddit: There are many subreddits dedicated to coding, such as r/learnprogramming, r/coding, and r/programming. You can also find subreddits dedicated to specific programming languages or technologies so you can get specific help or provide the help to those languages etc.
Codecademy Forum: They have a forum and a discord server where you can talk about the courses and get buddies to do projects together who are at the same level as you!
FreeCodeCamp Forum: This website offers free coding lessons and projects, and also has a community forum where you can ask for help and connect with other learners. I met 2 developers from there who helped me a lot.
Dev.to and Medium: Both a community where developers come to share their knowledge and experiences through blog posts and discussions. Developers sometimes gain good writing experience by writing these posts (great way to move towards being a technical writer). I've made a Dev.to account and I'm slowly adding my programming posts from here to there and I want to start using Medium too 🤔
Discord: There are many Discord servers dedicated to coding, where you can join discussions and get help with coding problems. I made a whole post with a list of discord servers I'm part of and would recommend it if you want to get into it! I made lots of developer friends from the discord servers. Intimidating at first but slowing you'll like it I think! I'm mostly there to help people with HTML and CSS problems and you can help people the same with whatever. you're strong in!
In the end, the websites and communities you choose to join will depend on your interests and goals. I recommend exploring a few different options and finding the ones that work best for you - I did that and I preferred the discord servers over the subreddits 😅
Good luck with your coding journey! 😸👍🏾💗

There is something very weird about the relatively short nature of the culture surrounding website creation. As in, like, internet-user-created websites have been around for like 30-31 years at this point, and the culture surrounding them has changed so very much.
People used to create websites left and right for their own needs, their little shops and their little blogs about what they liked. Some websites of course housing horrible content since their dawn, and some being as mundane but as unique as the person behind its code. I have seen older sites, archived, that promoted creating your own site, and that was interesting to see. That culture of creating your own website and of sharing that knowledge on a still-growing facet of communication.
And then at some point social media appeared, and that was interesting, because now everyone was able to quickly present themselves without the need of a website, but that didn't mean people stopped making websites. I mean, hell, Geocities died in 2009, so a lot of people were creating their own websites for free before that time, no need to pay for domain names or hosting. And even without Geocities, there were other website hosting things that yes, while not as customizable, were still a resource for people to work with them. There's still a website floating around that I made when I was a kid using one of these services. Cool stuff.
All this to say that I do feel a weird sense of dread looking back and cross-referencing with the present and seeing things like "website creator powered by AI" and shit like that, because just ?? How did it go plummeting so quickly. There is a weird feeling of having lost a developing culture to corporations making quick access to posting things that, as corporations' nature dictates, are used to sell data or to train models or what have you. Similarly, we get pretty same-y looking pages because of the need to be slick or whatever with designs that just leaves everything looking the same. ALSO, the loss of spaces for kids, or just the gradual lowering of them in favor of cocomelons and whatever else the devil's machine has spawned is like watching an apple decay before having ripened. I do feel like there is this phenomenon in which how to make a site has been lost in the notion of "making a website falls into the realm of evil and scary coding and I could never be a programmer, plus who would look at it, plus we have tools to make them," etc etc etc. Here is a little secret: website creation is not exactly hard to pick up at all. You might say it's very similar to using a rich text editor like Word or a notes app or whatever you use. Similarly, have you used markdown for things like messages or D iscord messages, you know, with the asterisks for bold text and the likes? Markdown is based on html's structures. And truly, you do not have to even learn to code using Javascript if you don't want to, you can just go full html + css and structure your things as you go, adding your little images and your updates. Because guess what !! Html and css are not programming languages, they're a markup language and a stylesheet language respectively, which is a fancy way to say "you make the structure of your page with the first one and make it pretty with the second one". This includes cool stuff like tables, lists, grids, colors, transitions, etc. All of that without any programming. (That being said, if you are interested in programming, Javascript isn't too bad to pick up. The language itself *is* kind of evil, but using it in conjunction with html is not too difficult). I do have to say though, I am glad that there is a push to making your own websites and things, especially with Neocities sprawling a huge community of avid website creators, as well as the huge amount of tutorials and stuff making the push forward with making sites and online spaces and experiences more widely available. Hopefully this becomes a trend that keeps going up, considering the state of seemingly every single social media that has existed since the 2000s- 2010s.

Do you know where to starts with programming? I want to learn but there’s so many types of codes and systems that I don’t know where to start.
Ultimately, it depends entirely on what you want to do with programming. Do you want to make websites? HTML, CSS & Javascript (in that order). Do you want to make games? C++, Java or Lua. I myself am learning Python (as well as HTML and CSS), which is a general-purpose language that's good for data science, machine learning and web development and is often recommended for beginners. You can learn more about different programming languages here, since it seems like you're overwhelmed because there's so many options (understandable).
HTML and Python is often said to be the easiest to learn, so if you're really stuck, you can start there. If you want to learn Python, I answered an ask recently about where you can learn it.
For any websites that I recommend you use, try The Odin Project (primarily for web development learning) - I've tried it out and I recommend it, and they focus on trying to teach you practically. Another good website is freecodecamp, which has more varied options! I also suggest you search up "coding exercises" on your search engine of choice to practice your coding knowledge, since just learning programming on Codecademy or whatever won't really hammer it in. There's heaps of sites for exercises like Exercism, Project Euler, LeetCode, etc.
If you're still not satisfied, I've also heard someone recommend this course before, but I've never tried it. I hope this helped!

do you happen to know any site building tutorials to follow and learn from? been having a hard time finding a place to start with my own neocity but the free reign and customization of them interests me a lot :0c
ABSOLUTELY! I do want to stress one thing if HTML/CSS is something you're not familiar with: It's okay if your website doesn't look like the most creative, eye-popping thing in the world! I've seen sooooooo many people get so discouraged because their beginner websites don't look like the flashier websites you see on Neocities' front page (by people who've been coding for a Long Time, mind you!) and like!!! That's fine!!! The code of my own site was quite possibly the worst thing you've ever seen thrown together into one big CSS soup before I Literally Just Rewrote It Today, After A Year Of Having A Neocities. And so, with that being said:
As anyone on the internet might do, w3schools is the absolute first place I'd recommend to beginners! There are videos, it's mostly a text-based learning site with lots of exercises to test your knowledge. If you'd prefer videos:
My personal favorite guy on Youtube to learn coding things from is Giraffe Academy: Here's his full course on HTML! The video itself is about two hours—I skimmed through it and everything seems to be perfectly oriented towards beginners (I haven't watched it in its entirety, but I have seen his videos on C# and Python [programming languages, don't worry about it] and they did a lot to help explain certain things to me that I didn't know previously!).
BroCode's HTML in 1 hour and CSS in 1 hour are pretty good! His videos do include a little bit on how to implement some JavaScript here and there, but nothing major or terrifying.
Here's a playlist of HTML/CSS tutorials in bite-sized videos, too! Think about 10-25 minutes per video.
I will say that searching for YouTube videos on HTML/CSS will always sort of gear more towards what people in the professional sphere are looking for rather than what you'd see on Neocities.
As for Neocities-specific things (which may be the actual point of your ask! Might've misinterpreted the hell out of it oops):
sadgrl.online is perhaps the most known website on Neocities, largely because the website itself not only has a layout maker you're free to use if you want to make a website now but the thought of writing HTML/CSS from scratch terrifies you, but also HTML/CSS guides themselves! There's also a bunch of links you can use to help fluff up your site a bit, generate HTML code for you, or just fluff up your site in general.
The Melonland Project is also dedicated to providing website development tools and tutorials for beginners: here is its guide to making a website on Neocities! It also provides a link to learnlayout.com, which I'll link here as well—a website for helping you learn CSS layouts!
And, once you've got the hang of how CSS works but are still feeling unable to code it yourself (no ideas? just not feeling up to it? FUCK MAN DO I UNDERSTAND THAT) Eggramen has free CSS pages you can use, and all you have to do is write the HTML for it!
But I would always focus more on learning HTML first before any CSS—and then learning how to integrate CSS into HTML via inline styling (which those video tutorials do!) before worrying about any external stylesheets or whatever. HTML is the actual building block—CSS just makes it look pretty.

yo dunno if you've been asked this question before or not (sorry if you have) but where'd you get your tumblr theme? and are the colors customizable or at least have theme variants (like royale or maybe royale noir, but i honestly have never been able to find anything for the latter)??
Hey, I'm always open for questions like that! So, when you say theme, there are a couple different possibilities you might be referring to: either the colors of a basic tumblr blog (the small popup window you see via Tumblr directly) or the desktop site you receive automatically upon acquiring a URL. You should get everything you need for the in-site customization when you first make a tumblr blog--and I'm most familiar with this on desktop, so forgive me for not providing details on mobile--but anyway, it would be discoverable through your blog editor in the same place you go to edit your description, title, pfp, etc. As for my desktop blog, this was made using customizable HTML (hypertext markup language), or a basic programming language for websites used in tandem with CSS (cascading style sheets). There is also a section of JavaScript on my blog which is for the sparkles that follow the cursor on my page. All three of these languages can be used to make your blog virtually whatever you want, but considering the question, I'll operate on the basis that you don't know how to code. How can you get a customizable theme?
Follow these simple directions:
go to settings
select your blog on the right sidebar (should look like this but with your blogs instead of mine)
Tumblr media
scroll until you see this setting
Tumblr media
if not enabled, enable custom theme
click edit theme
At this point, you should see an editor much like this, but with your desktop site, which is likely going to be a generic model.
Tumblr media
I will be proceeding in this guide assuming that you don't know HTML. To get a custom theme, select the icon on the left sidebar that says browse themes.
You will then see the sidebar change to feature Tumblr's generic theme and probably one or two paid ones. Look to the bottom of the sidebar to find this fun lil guy:
Tumblr media
Then do me a favor and select it.
On the new page that pops up, you should be able to find hundreds and hundreds of themes made both by professionals and amateur programmers, some of them with price tags, but plenty of others totally free! To install a theme onto your blog, first find one that fits your tastes about right. Don't fret too much about colors and images, because the vast majority of themes will allow you to customize that--you just need the computer to know where to put things. Let's take a look at some of the featured selections here.
Tumblr media
Let's say you want to try the first theme! Select it so this window pops up on your computer.
Tumblr media
Preview and install do exactly what it says on the tin. For now, let's scroll down a little bit to check this theme's stats...
Tumblr media
Take a look at all of this stuff to make sure that it does what you like, and make sure that you understand what you're signing up for. It's totally reversible in the sense that you can install the generic theme again at any time, but remember that whatever theme you already have WILL change when you install this. Always check for accessibility features as well! Depending on your needs, you might need to know if the programmer whose code you're borrowing has put any flashing lights or gifs in the layout before you download. Better safe than sorry.
Once you've decided on a theme, go ahead and click install.
It shouldn't take long afterwards for your blog to finish rearranging itself. Once it's finished, mosey over to your desktop site to check out how it's changed!
Most themes that you can download will include their own customization options that you can find using the same method we used earlier to open up this part of the blog editor:
Tumblr media
Just use the left sidebar to make any changes you might want to make to your theme in there. The theme description should've listed everything you can customize before downloading, and it'll all be right there in that menu! Most themes will let you change the color, images, backgrounds, links, music, or any other custom features to your heart's content through those controls. And if you're still unsatisfied, you can open up your blog's HTML file by clicking the edit HTML tab at the top of the left sidebar. Make sure you read some basic guides on code insertion if you do, though. It can be a little tricky to reverse garbage code if you put it in the wrong place.
Let me know if I can do anything else, anon! Good luck and happy customizing!

So I've been tagged
By this lovely little soul that goes by the handle of @treshmind. And apparently I am the mutual they want to learn more about, which is a compliment I will hold dear and near.
Do you make your bed? People say your body is your temple. My temple is my bed, a direct reflection of how I'm doing. And right now literally everything is there, not to mention I technically sleep on a couch. But I get by, Imake my little space everyday to catch a few zzs.
Favourite number? Not sure if I have one. Probably not. Seven rings nice though. I always considered it to be the "proud" number, as it looks like a person with their chest forward. Much like the idle stance of everyone's favourite vampire.
What’s your job? Graphic / UX / UI Designer & Front-end developer. 10 years a designer, now venturing into IT. I love creating pretty things that touch people, so to speak, figuratively and literally. Something that hits them and/or they can interact with. Creating experiences, waving stories. I learned HTML & CSS when I was like 15, had a blog and couldn't find a nice skin for it - so I just coded my own. Javascript, typescript and vue.js came along last year and honestly, I'm having a blast. And no, pls don't look at my tumblr, I did code its appearance bit, but it's just tweaks, it doesn't say anything about my skills.
If you could go back to school would you? I would actually and it's something I'm considering. One for front-end development to give myself stronger foundation and boost of confidence, and another for foreign language. Spanish & German have my special attention there.
Can you parallel park? I'm willing to try!
Do you think aliens are real? I always have a hard time defining "aliens". I think most people's perception of what counts as "living" is limited at best and hypocritical at worst. I've heard of bacterias having a better time than some of the fully-formed, fully-conscious humans on Earth. Add humanity's general complex of seeing themselves as the most complex existence in the history and you can probably cook up my general stance on the topic. I don't think Earth is the only place there's a "life" on, but aliens understood as extraterrestrial livings, are probably not modeled after the evolutionary fart currently dominating the 3rd planet from the Sun.
Can you drive a manual car? I can, actually. My father is a car mechanic, I take these things pretty seriously, you know. Should I ever have a car, I don't think I'd go for automatic.
What’s your guilty pleasure? To be fair, all my pleasures are guilty. But as it stands now, my most guilty would be to indulge in my feelings and let myself play a game or doodle or write something while knowing there's piles of work I'm behind on.
Tattoos? One on my back between my shoulder blades, just a standard egdy barcode with my birthdate underneath. And one over my heart (or just over my left tit, let's be honest) saying "Ideas are bulletproof", but mirrored - so that I can read it when I look in the mirror.
Favourite colour? Black, red. I usually wear all black with golden accessories and absolutely seizure-inducing, colorful singular statement pieces.
Favourite types of music? Not sure what counts as "favourite" as I prefer music that makes me feel things, whatever the genre. I like the experimental, funky sound, but I also enjoy the deeply consuming sound of progressive electronic music, which help me deep-focus at work, so there's that ~. And oh, I love voices. Talented voices, singing voices, raw, honest voices. I sing a little and enjoy admiring this craft in others.
Do you like puzzles? Oh absolutely. I'm already hooked.
Any phobias? I thought I was afraid of spiders until I lived with a girl who was REALLY afraid of them and I stepped in as this chivalrous knight in shining armor charging at the beast and – So no, not really.
Favourite childhood sport? I actually participated in a lot of disciplines. I wish I gave acrobatics more time & attention. It felt so freeing and beautiful. So poetic, almost.
Do you talk to yourself? Like out loud? Not anymore, but I do have an old pal on me in my head which is eyyyyy, isn't that me?
What movies do you adore? "V for Vendetta" - about how trauma can reduce a person into a concept. In this case - a concept of vengeance. Dangerous, loveable, tragic concept I resonate with very much. This is also the movie where my tattoo quote comes from.
Where I validated my stance that you don't really need to see the other person to know and love them.
Your experiences and feelings are just as valid, even if someone misled you or you never truly met. And the masks and theatrics cannot really conceal what's truly important, so don't be afraid to just... feel.
Coffee or tea? Coffee, freshly ground & brewed, unless I have the instant kind of day, with milk. Tea - preferably Dilmah, either green or earl grey.
First thing you wanted to be growing up? Oh, an artist probably. Little did I know how difficult and anxiety-inducing it would prove.

for the mun -> what does your URL mean, and why did you choose it? // who was the first faceclaim that was 'ruined' for you in the rpc? why was that? // what skills have you gained by roleplaying? // what faceclaim do you wish you could play, and why haven't you used them/yet?
-> About the url
Regarding the url, it was honestly the only thing I could come up with at the time! Initially (c. 2013) my url was dmitryhackshaw, back when it was just the one muse for a group rpg. I then converted it to an indie rp blog, which then at some point had the url slitthroattherapy as a vibes thing ✨ (and song reference), and at another point it had the url nyantry as a joke I became too fond of accidentally. I still keep the old urls but am not currently doing anything much with them, except I'm using nyantry for my 1x1 rp. Now, at some point, I decided to add more muses and so it no longer made sense to me to use Dmitry-centric urls. The only thing I could come up with that made sense for all/most of the muses was acidcorrodes, which was meant to evoke... I suppose the way hardship can absolutely get under your skin and absolutely, thoroughly change you into something new. It's not meant to be purely a destructive image, it can go either way. Some substances become weaker after corrosion or oxidation, others become stronger. That's what I wanted to evoke! My favorite characters to write are characters who have been transformed in some way, characters who are built from their past rather than simply "getting over it" or "forgetting" or whatever. I like the idea of integrating it, of living with it, of transforming it into something greater.
-> About ruined FCs
I don't think I truly have any fcs that I consider ruined, per se. The only fcs I'm not willing to write with are severely problematic ones (think: serial killers) and, generally speaking, anime faceclaims because the drawings kind of take me out of my own imagination. (I'm generally willing to write with characters that have anime fcs, but without the images, just text-only). That being said, I think the drama of the Depp vs. Heard case kinda put me off from Amber Heard as a fc, even if on principle I don't have a problem and I don't have a stance on the case — I don't know the actual details, I just know the outcome was basically "both owe each other some form of restitution". But truly, wholeheartedly, honestly, the character isn't the faceclaim and I stand by that as a principle, so I don't do banned fc lists or anything of that sort.
-> Skills
Oh man, where to begin! One of the first things I learned, since I started roleplaying on forums and then moved to Tumblr, was how to edit HTML and CSS. I'm in the process of learning how Tumblr theme code actually works from the ground up, as opposed to just the styling, because I'd like my blog to look neater honestly. (Yes, I know people mostly prefer dash-only; I just don't wanna go to third-party sites to host information I can host.... right here.... on this same website.) I was also motivated by writing Dmitry specifically to learn more about Russian culture, the Russian language itself, and to learn about aerospace engineering. I wound up getting a minor in aerospace eng. as part of my degree! But generally, all the Russian text I occasionally drop in, the Russian text on his pinterest, and other little bits like that are genuine and meaningful. I also learned a ton about Catholicism, partially motivated by the plots I was and am writing, and partially just due to my own interest. I've also over time learned how to structure my replies better and how to describe stuff with more detail to evoke what I'm imagining. Plus a ton of random vocabulary; English is my second language.
-> Which fc would you like to play?
Honestly, Renée Phoenix is excellent as a fem!Dmitry but there's basically zero gifs, and after Steady Damage she changed her hair and FFR kinda went extremely quiet and so idk. No resources. Similar problem with F*lice F*wn, which is why Dmitry's genderbent faceclaim is Tuppence Middleton as Riley Blue in Sense8 instead. Aside from that, I think Oli Sykes and Sam Carter are absolutely gorgeous but I haven't come up with characters, and I don't think there's many Sam gifs either. I like musicians as faceclaims, what can I say? As far as actors/actresses, I don't really currently know! I've mainly been re-watching shows I've seen a thousand times like The Twilight Zone, Supernatural, Dexter, and others, and while some actors and actresses stand out to me, I'd truly like to write more female muses, esp. non-white ones. The lack of diversity in my muses is primarily due to the fact that many of them are at least a decade old, and back then there weren't as many options for faceclaims with gifs specifically. That's completely changed now, which is wonderful! But for now I'm hesitant to add more muses before revamping the ones I already have and making things make sense in my brain first I think.

Hnnnghh I was informed by tatp that u know about about coding wdgvbb any tips or whatever I’m trying to make a neocitys website or smthg
Since it's neocities website all you need is: HTML, CSS and maybe some graphics. As I said before I'm shit at explaining stuff but I will try my best. So here's "I want to make my own website" the basics!
HTML - markup language, the base of your websiteCSS - style of your website, can change color of html elements, size, font etc. I linked w3schools website since it's pretty easy to understand.Do you need to learn all of this before coding? No. I think it's the best to just check things that you need for your website. If you need to change background color of your website just find a w3schools tutorial on it or simply search for "how to change background color in css". You just should know html tags and basic attributes: id and class and how to link your css in html file so your style actually works! Neocities has it's own tutorials on html and css so you could check them out too! Neocities also has it's own code editor. You can edit everything in browser. I personally like to code in Visual Studio Code then just paste the code into Neocities editor. VS Code has a lot of addons (some of them are there by default) that make coding way easier for example: autocorrection of syntax errors and giving you suggestions!
Example: If you type html in vs code html file you will get 3 suggestions:
Tumblr media
choose the html:5 one:
Tumblr media
TAADAAAM!! VS Code just wrote the whole website structure for you! You can install more extensions here under extension section! There is this extension called vscode-pets it won't help you with coding but its really cute:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
some yt tutorials: CINNIMANI (specifically for neocities), web coding playlist (this one is good for all websites in general); https://sadgrl.online if you were on neocities you probably saw her website. She has a lot of useful resources including image resources and also she made her own WEBSITE BUILDER or acutally layout builder! It's pretty simple website builder but still. If you are looking for premade layouts you can just search them on google or get sum from the website I linked ^__^ Uploading your website to neocities is really easy since all you need to do is to put all the files on there! I guess that's all for now. If you have any problems or questions just ask. I'm here to help ^^ websites with free to edit code: https://codepen.io, https://github.com

since you said you have coded, tell me the basic coding languages i need to know + how your teachers taught you caelin! i badly want tips to learn. like i have so many reels saved on my ig about coding + tips
same pinch, but i have been stanning them since on era and i think i was a hardcore fan until they dropped butter. i lost interest because same, their music started to change and started concentrating on the west. soo, i used to love the old bts caelin :(
hell no!!! when i used to watch yuzuru hanyu skating videos, i got into figure skating and then random videos used to pop up, even i used to know sunghoon before he debuted 🥲 i didnt watch like all of his performances but watched the best ones in his career ^^ he grew up so well.
yup!!! when fever was dropped, engenes knew it was a banger. damn it everyone on twitter asked whose song was this and engenes were like, huhu its enhypen \(^_^)/ hooray hahga. even i agree with you fever was and is the best bside i have ever heard from them.

— lover club anon <33
jay fic was posted, i hope it reached you well ^^ also, good luck with starting a writing account omg .. you can start with texts since they are a quick read and attract more audience !!! however, headcanons aren't bad either ... it really is your choice :O
i will tell him to do well in 10th, although he wastes all his time playing valo / forza horizon TT i don't know how easy or difficult the school exams have gotten, i've been so out of the loop ever since i graduated >< hope your sister does well too in boards ^_^
and omg bipc is fun but i'm sure pcm is just as interesting :O you have a fear of blood and needles so maybe you weren't meant for the OT but rather for doing other big things in like ... let's be positive !!! also, i think you mean apothorax ?? it's part of thorax containing heart and lungs ^^ i was studying about mediastinum today .. it's too much to take in. there's so much information and so little space in my brain .. sometimes i wonder if i will be able to remember all the things _ _;
also, i studied coding in highschool so i don't know how helpful my tips will be for college since you're definitely going to learn much much more there :O i think html css is basic and important ( for example, tumblr's who website theme and post format is based on html css ) javascript, python are important too since they're in demand. i'm afraid we didn't learn a lot in school except what was in theory .. didn't have many lab sessions and the most we did was python and html css since that was the main focus ( i hate python like whatever the hell that is ... )
i also started with hanyu !!! and then came across cha junhwan, yuna kim, ilia malinin and all though the international tournaments and all. i remember being so interested in fs, i watched the 4cc tournaments during classes TT i actually came across sunghoon through junhwan, watched his videos and then moved on like .. i didn't see him at the competitions so i thought he quit :O never looked him up for me to know he was a trainee / idol
AND YEAH fever is truly the queen, i can never get tired of it. border : carnival in itself is an amazing album. what's your fav album of them so far? fav b-side and title tracks? i need to know ><

I’m a beginner w programming and I really need motivation :((( I feel kind of dumb because it takes me a while to understand basic concepts. What did you do when you felt like this? (when you were starting out )
Honestly, how I did it was I had a lot of people who were either depending on me to succeed with programming with my apprenticeship or wanted me to do well. I come from a fairly poor family and a lot of my family live back in Africa so I also have the privilege to be here to get free education. By constantly reminding myself (but not overdoing it) that I need to do well in the course, that kept me motivated.
Other things include the ability to create cool projects. I used to watch Frontend Web Development tutorials on YouTube way before I actually started coding and I wanted to make all those cool aesthetic websites! “One day I’ll make something like that but more amazing” and here I am learning programming to achieve that.
The other major motivation for me is I found learning about new languages or technologies fun. When I got the hang of HTML, I was super excited to learn CSS and then I learnt some Python and that was such a good feeling ticking the box of “Oh yeah I learnt that one, and built a couple projects”!
I think this is just a me thing, but I sign up to do courses that has a fancy certificate at the end solely because of two things: I learn the new language/technology and… I love seeing my name on a certificate! Sounds stupid but I really do! One day I’ll have a wall with all the certificates I’ve ever completed! THAT definitely motivates me!
Tumblr media
When trying to stay motivated, you’ve also got to stop comparing yourself to others or feel like you have to know everything “right” way or go a certain path. Remember, everyone starts somewhere, everyone is different and programming is a lifelong learning process.
Find a project that you're passionate about or something that motivates you to learn programming. It could be a game, a website, or a tool that you need in your daily life.
Find the reason you wanted to learn programming. “Because I study it for university/school/online course/etc” does not count. WHY did you start the course? WHY did you pick programming and not knitting or law whatever? WHY do you think you’ll be good at programming? Find that inner passion for programming, write it on a sticky note and have it where you constantly be looking (study area) and keep reminding yourself
Example from me: I wanted to learn how to build websites about my interests (Hello Kitty, Anime, Lana Del Rey and music). Now I want to work towards create mini adventure games one day. Hope that one day I’ll get to work for The Sims/Electronic Arts in the Game Development team. I’m doing all of this to make my Dad proud and feel I was worth it after all the years of sacrifice he did to get me here where I am. I’m learning so I can live comfortably with my fiancé (husband in the future obvs) and spend money on buying him gifts and funding his little hobbies! (He’s super adorable) <- Write something like that
Tumblr media
In terms of feeling dumb:
Accept that it’s normal to feel that way. No genius becomes a genius after 1 day of studying. Not even 1 month of studying. Programming is a freaking hard subject to handle. Accept that it’s normal to feel dumb sometimes. You’re not the only one.
Please don’t look at the whole picture when learning. By that I mean, yeah C# (for example) looks like a freaking hard language from the outside but when you start to break it down into topics like variables and data types etc and even break it further into subtopics, suddenly the language doesn’t look at scary! You just have to tackle the little guys and poof! You beat them all and now you know your target language/technology!
Don’t be too pride or too shy to ask for help. From teachers to the users in a programming discord server, ask for help please. Ask even the dumbest of questions “Does does HTML mean?” Do it. Learn from the answer. Keep it in your memory. Move on. Keep doing that throughout your learning!
Tumblr media
Programming is a skill, and like any other skill, it requires practice. Try to write code on a regular basis, even if it's just a few lines a day. Don't push yourself too hard, take breaks, and come back to programming when you feel refreshed. Remember that learning programming is a journey, and it's okay to take your time to understand concepts. Don't give up, stay motivated, and keep practicing!

Know More About React Native Security
Tumblr media
Reactive Native is a cross-platform app development framework that was founded in the year 2015. Since then it has emerged as a preferred framework by most developers across the globe. Given that react native is capable of refreshing the UI without any interruptions, it has quickly taken over other app development frameworks. In addition, developers can also integrate react native security in the applications they are developing which will ensure that they are safe and secure.
React is also capable of offering interactive and intuitive ways of building interfaces. Even using components of the smaller pieces of code, react is capable of building complicated applications. It allows developers to use a variety of techniques of web technologies. For example, JavaScript can also be used along with React to build a cross-platform application. Moreover, JavaScript security can also be used for React apps.
Things You Need to Know about React Native Security  However, if you plan on using react native for your application, then it is advisable to understand a few things about react native before you get started. Moreover, if you’ve never used react native before, it becomes even more imperative to know some things before you begin. The following list will help you in forming an idea about react-native:
1)OS Changes are not troublesome
Using a library that makes use of the operating system SDK API, you will realize that your codebase does not depend directly on SDK. Consequently, you will face less stress when there are any major iOS releases, there will be less breakage and deprecation of the APIs, conforming to or changing to new language features is not required, and adapting to new tools won’t be necessary either. Thus, you can completely be assured that you won’t have to face these problems and take action when you want to rather than when an external factor forces you to.
2) Hassle-free CSS
If you are making use of CSS on the web, chances are that you will have to pick a language that is of a higher level, create a build pipeline and even go through browser-specific prefixing. You will also need to minify everything and even ensure that consistency in style and layout is maintained across all browsers. However, react-native chooses JavaScript as the language of styling. This means that you will be receiving variables, mixins, inheritances, and every other imaginable option. Consistency can also be maintained without any hassles.
3)Feel free to use any language
You can choose to use any language that is compatible with JavaScript. For instance, some people love Clojure and will always try to look out for it given how vibrant it is. Similarly, you can use any language you prefer or like. Since react native is cutting-edge technology, you will always get to experience the best of whatever comes with react native.
Conclusion
With React Native you can also update your codebase remotely. You can easily fix bugs, create new content and even launch new features without going through the entire app store process. Apart from this know-how, you should gain an in-depth understanding of react-native. It is advisable to hire a company that has expertise in the area to build a React native app for you.
