Just thought of Nancy and Robin decorating a christmas tree and Nancy is obviously too short to reach the top, so Robin offers to put the star on, but Nancy denies the offer and instead tries to jump and put the star on but she trips and knocks the entire tree over.
bonus: robin literally just standing there laughing and doing the “womp womp womp womp” sad trombone sound (which actually doesn’t make nancy mad just makes her giggle bc they love each other your honour). then robin proceeds to help nancy up and sway her around the room while singing ‘free fallin’

So I headcanon Eddie as Jewish and I think that once the kids graduate and no more crazy shit happens in Hawkins, Steve follows Robin to whatever college she wants to go to, and Eddie follows Steve. Probably a big city like Chicago or Boston or New York.
Eddie scours the city for Jewish delis, ordering a bagel with lox or pastrami on rye at every one, wanting to find the best. It’s at one of these delis that he meets a bunch of older Jewish women looking for a mahjong player. See Rose just moved to Boca because the winter is bad on her knees so they need a new fifth and Eddie’s a Nice Jewish Boy and he likes games so he offers to join them.
Turns out he’s not that good at it. It doesn’t hold his attention like D&D while also moving too fast for him to follow. He’s too indecisive about hands, trying to switch late in the round.
But Steve… Steve LOVES mahjong. Steve is good at mahjong.
Cut to every Thursday night, Steve going off to Diane or Sylvie’s house to play mahjong with a bunch of old ladies. They adore Steve and how sweet he is, always helping them clean up the tiles and get to their cars.
“And he’s so handsome, isn’t he Ruth? If he weren’t dating Eddie, he’d be perfect for my granddaughter. Such a mensch.”
Because they know about Eddie and Steve. It’s easy to see when you know what to look for and Sarah and Ruth have been roommates since 1967.
So they play and gossip and eat snacks and exchange recipes. Steve asks for creative meals during Passover since he’s got a picky eater. They assume it’s one of the kids he babysits. It’s actually Eddie.
Just give me Steve hanging out with cool old ladies, being a little bitchy, eating rugelach, and taking Eddie out to dinner on his winnings.

I see a lot of confusion on why calling Damian Wayne "feral" is racist/problematic, so here's a rundown.
There's a difference between calling your child or your younger sibling "feral" and calling a character like Damian "feral." You know your child/sibling/niece/nephew etc. They're real people, and unless they have a problem with it personally, then there's nothing wrong with calling them feral as a joke. It doesn't (shouldn't) affect their perceptions by other people. It doesn't become a label that follows them.
Damian al Ghul-Wayne is a fictional character. A canonically mixed Arab/Chinese/Jewish White character with a history connected to some of the most prominent Arab comic book characters, who themselves also get insanely mischaracterized.
He's constantly whitewashed. He's been written with racist undertones (the suicide bomber vest). He's had his character development and progress backtracked time and time again by DC. DC treats him weirdly most days and completely shitty in the worst stories.
A good majority of fanon hasn't done any better than DC. You cannot pat yourselves on the back for being more inclusive or mental health aware than DC when you call a mixed Arab/Chinese boy "feral". It's constant. You can come up with various titles and nuances for every Bat-character, for every Robin.
Tim can be smart, a skater, a genius, the one holding everyone together, the little brother, the one who needs love. Jason can be cool, morally "right" or "wrong", unstable, PTSD-stricken, the one who was betrayed, the one with Shakespearean tragedies. Dick can be fun, happy, the first one, the prodigal son, the one with complicated history and the big brother.
You give them room for exploration. Love and care and attention and research. Many headcanons. You either comply with canon or you don't, but there's substance to their character.
What does Damian get? He's feral. He's rabid. He's a gremlin. He can't be reasoned with. He has no self-control, he's impulsive. He's hurt others, and you can't forgive it. Sometimes he's homophobic. Or classist. Or plain mean and rude to your favorite boy. He's always carrying a sword. A psychopath with no regard for another's well-being (usually Tim in a lot of fics). He can't be taught what's right.
I've seen people cry that Damian needs to punished or kicked out or treated the same way he's treated others. He needs to be brutalized or talked down to. He can never grow as a person, because he's mean to Tim or Jason, and you need him to exist as the abuser. His first move is always violent.
Fanon compares him to an animal often; he bites, claws, hisses, growls. Bruce or Dick or Jason or Tim have to wrangle him, tame him, civilize him the white man's way in lieu of his brown mother and grandfather who "clearly" raised him wrong. You don't see the issue with that? The issue with always labeling one of the few major brown characters in Batman comics as the unreasonable animal? That the child of color is always the abuser, the instigator, to older characters?
And even if you don't see him this way, you don't write him this way - then are you giving him the care and attention you give for other Bat characters?
Do you know anything else about him other than his "anger"? Because he isn't always angry. In fact, he's typically well-mannered. Quiet even, when he's not being provoked. DC's writing will always vary but whenever Damian lashes out, he's usually written with a reason to act the way he does.
Are you making him intelligent like he should be? A hard believer in redemption? A neglected and abused child who isn't meek or crying or closes himself within? Are you willing to explore that he's always exhibited the "wrong" kind of trauma responses - lashing out, being snippy, ruining relationships, refusing to admit weakness?
Do you write anything about him without making his mother and grandfather comically abusive and violent? Will you give him the supporting cast/friends he actually has? Can you write his dad/siblings interacting with him without making them white saviors or therapy pets? Can you write him without a ship or his love for animals or being vegetarian overshadowing everything?
Is he a character to you at all other than a glorified plot device with a sharp tongue and the convenience of being violent?

Batfamily Secret Santa
With the holidays coming up here's my headcanon for what each of the batfamily members would get each other if they were doing a secret Santa. (And yes, I know Bruce is canonically Jewish, but I believe either Tim or Dick are some denomination of Christian so I'd imagine they have a mixed holiday celebration at the manor)
Bruce (got Stephanie)
Ok so Bruce is super generous on a good day and I can't imagine Steph wouldn't be dropping hints since Thanksgiving, so he'd probably give her everything she asked for plus a new movie Wayne manor doesn't have, so after the celebration they could watch it together as a one-on-one bonding thing since he's pretty big on quality time in some versions.
Dick (got Bruce)
Bruce really doesn't expect anything for the holidays which is perfect because I have this headcanon that Dick is actually really bad with giving gifts. Someone bullied your little sister? Not on his watch. Life advice? He'll pull from his past experiences to tell you what not to do. Emotional support? Bro he's there. But birthday/anniversary/holiday gifts? Expect a mug with Snoopy's face because you both watched Charlie Brown together once. In July. He's just that kind of gift giver. So I'm thinking Dick would get Bruce a dinosaur themed 1,000 piece puzzle because Bruce likes dinosaurs and he likes puzzles so boom! Match made in heaven, ya boi is a genius. 😎
Barbara (got Jason)
Babs is a pretty practical person so her secret Santa to Jason probably consisted of a gift bag with manly smelling body wash, a gift card to Barnes & Noble, and a CD mixtape of Jason's Spotify favorites so he can pop it into a car and listen to it during long car rides.
Duke (got Damian)
So Duke is a pretty creative person when he's passionate about a project and his ideas are definitely one of a kind, but I think for some time he would really struggle with coming up with a secret Santa for Damian because he isn't all that close with Robin. He knew Damian appreciated weapons but he's also the type of person to not want Damian to think that weapons are all he is by getting him one. Presents for Damian's pets are off the table since Damian spoils them on every day of the year, so Duke would probably gift Damian something for the child he is, since Damian never had a childhood. Maybe a telescope so Damian could look at the stars with his family on clear nights. Just like what Duke's mom gave him as a boy for the holidays one year.
Cass (got Dick)
Cass didn't receive material gifts for most of her life so she probably enlisted Alfred's help. Given that the butler knows Dick pretty well, they decided to give him a gift basket with blue ribbon that had a T-shirt of his favorite band, some flash fuzzy socks (Wally would approve), and his favorite holiday candy. Dick is really more of a quality time kind of person if you want to make him to feel special, so it didn't need to be elaborate anyway.
Jason (got Cass)
I don't care how much people try to make Jason into a sexist, ignorant-to-the-fine-arts kind of person. Jason doesn't give a fuck about gender stereotypes and he loves learning, especially about classical things like literature or fine arts. For his secret Santa to Cass he got them both tickets for a weekend trip to Russia to see a ballet in person in one of the grandest cities in Russia. Cass has obviously been to many places across the world, but it was always for a mission and nothing more. For the holidays, Jason gifted her two days where they could travel and explore the culture, living like locals or being those stereotypical tourists just for shits and giggles. Just a few days without work to relax and live happy lives as regular people. When Cass got her gift Jason pulled her aside afterwards to explain it, so she wouldn't cry in front of everyone. And she did cry. Just a little. So did Jason.
Tim (got Duke)
Tim wouldn't think too hard about Duke's gift since he knows the people Duke hangs out with. Or could find them. Getting Duke a gift was as simple as casually running into Duke's friends and asking them about what Duke likes. Not that he or Duke's friends ever mentioned this to Signal, so when he opened his secret Santa and found some hyper-specific things amongst some more generic gifts, he began to wonder just how much Tim knew about his life.
Stephanie (got Babs)
Steph is absolutely the type of person to get someone for Christmas something they want themselves. So a lot of the gifts Bruce gave her look similar to what Babs got from Steph. Not that she means anything by it, but in her mind if it's worth wanting, someone else close to her probably wants it too. And Babs doesn't mind. She already bought herself a new desk light after the old one got knocked down one too many times, so it doesn't matter if she has a cute keychain to go on it.
Damian (got Tim)
Regardless of his age I think a younger sibling will always be a younger sibling. Damian would probably give Tim a large fancy gift bag filled with tissue paper... and nothing else. He'd do it just to see Tim's reaction to rifling through the bag for several moments to come up empty. Then, when Tim admits defeat, Damian would hand over a gift he asked Jon to pick up for Connor, nicely wrapped with Tim's forged signature and everything. He wasn't about to get Tim a gift but it's okay because he knew Tim would've somehow forgotten to get his boyfriend a holiday gift anyway. (And he did)

i see you're asking about winter hcs for jondami so here, have some of mine!!
-Damian isn't really big into Christmas (it's not really a LoA thing, and Bruce is canonically Jewish, so probably not something he grew up celebrating much), but Jon IS. As soon as December 1st hits, their home is COVERED in lights and garlands and whatever else Jon can get his hands on. But he never protests or complains (beyond his normal level of both, anyway) because it makes him happy to see Jon so happy.
-Damian has a lot of chronic pain, which tends to act up in the cold, sore and achy joints especially. Jon makes a habit of cuddling and/or literally sweeping him off his feet and carrying him around if he notices it getting too bad. (Damian is supremely embarrassed by this but also would never, ever tell him to stop.)
-Due to being half Kryptonian, Jon is pretty much not phased by the cold temperatures at all - he can feel them, but it's not painful or uncomfortable. It infuriates Damian that Jon can go flying around in the dead of winter (and the literal ARCTIC) in jeans and a hoodie, while he has to wear several layers, sometimes even in addition to his advanced, insulated Robin costume. Jon happily offers snuggles as compensation for his troubles.
-It snows more in Gotham than it does in Metropolis. Jon ends up coming over all the time during winter, excitedly waiting and watching for the first snow of the year. (The first natural snow, anyway, Mr. Freeze's doesn't count.)
The chronic pain one is really cute. I think I mihr steal now headcanon now LOL mine now ty. just he probably would get chronic pain from his spine and back, and the ammount of stress his body is under typically.
thank you thank you anon

I would like to see the Jewish headcanons please
Hi yes thank you so much I wasn't fishing for this at all
We've already covered this in that post that gained me 150 followers in a week, but obviously Peter Parker is Jewish. My personal headcanon is that he's Ashkenazi and somewhere between Reform and Conservative. Like he flip flops on keeping Kosher and observes the high holidays as best as he can assuming there's no world saving he needs to get done, but overall being Jewish to him is about community and culture over the religious part of it
For Bucky Barnes, however, being observant was a way to reclaim his identity after... Well, you know. He's vaguely conservadox? He doesn't really define it beyond being Sephardic. He keeps Kosher (which was difficult during WWII unfortunately) and wears tzitzit and goes to shul whenever he can. He'd love to keep Shabbat but it's just not practical most of the time - essentially it's like being an on call doctor, where your job is essential to saving lives and therefore he can't keep Shabbat properly, but he likes to have Friday night dinners with his friends (and Natasha, whether they're together at the time or not) whenever he can. He doesn't know if God exists, but during the High Holidays is when he comes the closest to believing it
Bruce Wayne is canonically Jewish but like, by accident? I feel like he less defines himself as Jewish and more defines himself as Not-Christian™. His mother used to take him to Synagogue but the memories are vague now, but he always enjoyed lighting the candles on Hanukkah, especially with Jason. He stops celebrating the holiday after Jason dies, because he loved it so much. It's a shame because I KNOW Cass would love Hanukkah and Steph would be so into the Maccabees' story
Tim is also Jewish but he's entirely non practicing; his parents were never around to celebrate any holidays or impart any Jewish traditions on him and Bruce had stopped doing the one Jewish thing of lighting the hanukkiah/menorah (whichever you wanna call it) by the time he became Robin. The main Jewish thing in his life is antisemitic garbage being published about both Bruce and himself, especially once he becomes CEO of WE
Damian was raised Muslim and doesn't really know how to feel about being half Jewish. When he grows up he might try to find a way to reconcile those two parts of his identity, but the only Jewish person who actually practices that he sees even irregularly is Batwoman, who's his cousin once removed and he's not exactly close to, so he just doesn't feel the need to deal with it yet
The Thing and Batwoman are canonically Jewish this doesn't count as a hc I just love them
Same for moon knight minus loving him cause I have a bunch of his comics but just haven't gotten around to reading them
Actually can we talk about Mayday Parker? Because I feel like Peter would absolutely raise his daughter to be Jewish. He wants her to feel that connection to the Jewish people even though he's always been so wishy-washy about it and she grows up to be way more observant than him
I actually don't want canon!Clark to be Jewish, but I think exploring his Jewish subtext in fic can be so interesting? Cause, you know, he's Moses and shit. I feel like an Modern Orthodox Clark would have the exact same values as current Clark but also I'd love to hear his thoughts on certain Mishnahs, you know? Also having read the Death of Superman arc earlier this month I can confirm all Jesus metaphors in adaptations are such bullshit oh my God did you even read the comic
Anyway I think that's it for now? Unfortunately I have not read Every Comic Ever yet so there might end up being even more HCs later on (especially since I plan to read Greg Rucka's Lois Lane series soon and I'm hoping for some Jewish subtext in that)
Thank you so much for asking this was so much fun!!

Yes exactly!Like i'm afrolatino(black/white mixed dominican)and i hc Jason is too(dominican like me but fully black)not just because he's my comfort character but also because i think it works really well!
Dc's retcon of making him 'always destined to be bad' can instead be an in-universe thing where he actually was like his original Robin self but had it erased by people in-universe because of being a poc and while there's definitely flaws in his Red Hood writing, the concept of a black kid going through great trauma(Ditf) and deciding to take justice into his own hands because of it is VERY appealing to me as a black person. Also, tbh, his personality when he's written well reminds me of my black and latino friends so there's also that!
I have a few more points but yeah, gross people love ruining it :/ Same with asian Tim and i'm glad you can still enjoy that one like i do afrolatino Jason!!Solidarity!
YEAH! I think there's a lot of really cool concepts that could be explored with afro-latino Jason and how it corresponds with his backstory. How his identity and lived experience as a black man can mix into his opinions on the justice system and batman as a whole. One thing i dislike when DC or other companies swap a characters race is they just do it aesthetically, not literally(literally as in the literal text of the story). Take Helena for example. Black Helena is fucking awesome but is there not something to be explored there? An afro-talian woman growing up in the mob and in a city like gotham city? The experience of being a black woman WOULD affect/change her life and i think it's not only interesting but GOOD representation to show that.
For me and my Tim headcanons i see Jack Drake of Polish Catholic descent and Janet as part okinawan and part russian/Ashkenazi Jewish(the jewish part coming from Cuck Dixon's own plans for her). I think it's a really interesting dynamic to explore there with Tim's mothers death severing his connection to that side of himself. Essentially losing touch with half of his culture.
ANYWAYS TLDR I think these headcanons are super fucking cool and should be used for more than just aesthetics. different races and cultures have different lived experiences and portraying that is a GOOD thing. diversity is the spice of life after all

for the fanfic ask meme- 🎃 👀 🧠 (guy gardner bc i want you to talk about my blorbo)
🎃 Do you write fics for certain holidays? Which is your favorite holiday inspired fic?
I have yet to write any fics for any holidays (unless you count Pride Month, in which case, gonna promo my criticism of Devin Grayson's Jon Kent Pride story here). I may write a Christmas fic if I can ever get the time in the holiday season because it's fun. I also have a soft spot for Jewish batfam content, but I would need to do quite a bit of research before I wrote a fic for any Jewish holiday.
On that note, I'll rec some other people's holiday fics, lol.
Latkes and Other Fried Foods by metukah — a collection of very sweet and fun Hanukkah stories featuring the Bats!
Cherish The Present by Listentothelittlebird — part of a larger AU (Code Bat) that I love very dearly and will not shut up about. Fluffy Christmas content!
Holiday Trappings by Cloaked Sparrow — also part of a larger AU that I actually need to read the rest of. I stumbled upon this one and really enjoyed it. Jason is loves his family and fjdklfgjfkjfh also....gift-giving as a love language is my shit.
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
teehee, this one is fun because I have like 5 open wips + nearly 20 just snippets sitting around.
I'm behind on the Year of the OTP stuff, so I actually have two timberkon fics going at the same time (and I'm hoping I can finish one of them before the end of the month at least). March is a cryptid-hunting road trip fic and April is Kon being oblivious af and not realizing he's been dating Tim and Bernard for weeks because I think that trope is fun.
There's also my big Jason wip that I've been working on for over a year (this was supposed to be a quick thing and it got WAY out of hand). I have a lot of feelings about it, but the basic premise is Jason gets to Gotham and starts his whole plan, but the Bats kinda realize that while he IS killing people, he's definitely more vigilante than criminal and their goals kinda align. So they decided to just work with him rather than against him (because Bruce has an established history of working with characters with different modalities on killing, both in and out of Gotham). And then Jason goes "well, now what?" and just....fails to tell them that "hey, btw, I'm the dead Robin" for like a year while he bonds with them and also gets to see how his death changed things up close and personal. (I'm not kidding, I'm keeping a timeline for this for my own personal reference and we're up to 70% of a year now. Also over 20k words. Holy shit.)
But because it's YOU asking and you get to hear about most of my fics as I'm writing them, I will add a bonus of the summary of wip I have not really told you about:
His siblings all follow Bruce's no kill rule for one reason or another, but the realities of vigilante life is never nearly so black and white. Jason’s there to help with all the grays. Or, 6 times Jason hides a body from Bruce + 1 time he nearly finds out.
🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.
Oh, you want me to talk about your blorbo. I see how it is /lh.
Trying to think of something that isn't just straight up lifted from headcanons we've already discussed....hold on.
Being a GL isn't exactly conducive to having a stable job, so when he first starts out and is in space more often than he's Earth-side, he fills his time on Earth doing volunteer work with kids because he likes helping out and it gives him something to do for the like week he's back home. It doesn't really provide income, so he usually just crashes at other people's place. Hal, John, the jl:i peeps at some point, Oliver Queen on one memorable occasion. Eventually, he gets the bar and his own place, but he still tries to keep up the volunteer work when he can.
Speaking of the bar, to me, Guy's strength in the kitchen is his adaptability, and being a GL only enhanced that. Between having to figure out what makes for good eats on various alien planets and having to come home from long space trips to the 6 shelf stable items left in the pantry, Guy is something of an expert in turning a handful of mismatched ingredients into something enjoyable. This is in direct contrast to Hal Jordan, whose time as GL has just made him used to eating whatever, and now he has the most bizarre palette and will just throw together the strangest combinations and enjoy it. (Both of them have developed a keen sense for what kind of foods will keep their bodies fueled longer and their eating habits reflect that).

tim
Sexuality Headcanon: bi of course! canon, which is why it’s also canon in my head.
Gender Headcanon: cis guy but i could also see him as some flavor of nonbinary or transfem.
A ship I have with said character: you already know what i’m gonna say. timlonnie. i’ve gone over my thoughts on it so many times but i enjoy the ways in which they exist as separate characters and also foil each other and the way that their histories are intertwined. i think that the precipice of mutual understanding theyve existed on since they first met is super interesting and if they stepped over it it has the potential to be good for the both of them as they possess characteristics the other lack yet are also the same in certain ways. they make a good team when they work together and… it’s just fun. tim grows to care about her and understand her ideals, the most important thing to her. for someone like lonnie who is so isolated, i think that counts for something. AND he saved her life twice.
A BROTP I have with said character: can’t go wrong with tim & kon, which needs no introduction, but i also love his relationships with his eldest siblings (dick & cass) and of course. of COURSE. cassie sandsmark.
A NOTP I have with said character: aside from the obvious (batcest) do not breathe the same air as me if you ship him with jpv. which should go without saying but you’d be surprised!
A random headcanon: brown eyes babyyy. my mind refuses to register him as having anything else. also i think he is italian-irish american jewish and i’m stickin’ to it.
General Opinion over said character: where to begin. tim is one of my favorite DeeCees but if he isn’t yes he is no he isn’t ❤️. he’s genuinely compelling to me both in-universe and out-of-universe as one of the catalysts that brought the Bat Family as it develops together, being a part of events and teams that left such a huge impact on the dcu and what he represents symbolically wrt robin in the bat mythos, as well as generally knowing a little bit of everybody which makes for some great dynamics but i think his perception tends to get caught up in such a convoluted web of fanon and counter-fanon that it can be hard to tell, unless you… yknow. read his comics. just exactly who he is. i like his trait of being someone who knows his role very well and knows what he does not want to become and developing just how he differs from both of those. i do not understand why people latch onto him so hard though and think a large chunk of his fans tend to find it hard to accept that the dcu does not revolve around him and that he has flaws and it can come at the expense of people’s perception of a ton of other characters. also he’s a car guy over being a skateboarder… remember this and update your headcanons accordingly (/joke).

im having literally so much holiday brainrot so. do you have any headcanons your brainrot has provided when it comes to stranger things?
(can you tell i just went through the holiday tags on ao3)
omg same. happy holidays anon!!
ok, so i’m actually a HUGE fan of the jewish eddie munson headcanon. genuinely one of my favorite things i’ve seen recently of him and wayne celebrating chanukah together <3 AGH i love it
i also love the idea of like, everyone gathers at the byers-hopper household for the holidays. like joyce’s house is always warm and inviting they can’t help but all gather at her house for the holidays. (they do all of the traditional stuff with El too, since she’s never really had a normal life, so.) i’m super fond of the jewish byers headcanons too, but they released that christmas comic a few years ago so </3 but the jewish byers are real to ME.
murray i feel would either make the trip down to hawkins and bring the alcohol or he would call joyce and joyce would have him on speaker so the kids can all wish him a happy holiday. alternatively, he comes down to help joyce with the christmas dinner because dammit, that man can cook. he’s amazing in the kitchen. he and jonathan and joyce are the cooks (hopper and robin and steve offer to help, but hopper can’t cook much of anything that doesn’t have to be microwaved. robins an excellent cook, but is shooed out of the kitchen—she’ll come back later though to wash dishes. and joyce is still upset with steve for the demo-dog in her fridge and is immediately banished from the kitchen. eddie’s allowed to help though, when he’s not talking to will.)
the wheelers are a very Traditional Christmas, as we’ve seen, but again, i think both mike and nancy would sneak away to the byers later in the day. i think lucas would have a special gift or two that he saved up all year to give to max, and he’d want it to be special so he’d go over as soon as he was able to to give it to her.
dustin gets erica the newest dnd book (not totally sure how dnd works but y’all know those books they have? idk) and they immediately get to work on a campaign, a small one shot that they’re gonna force everyone to play. eddie helps, but only if he gets to DM.
robin brings them the traditions of hippie christmas, which is mostly storytelling and eggnog, but her mother insisted on bringing the byers a traditional “hippie” gift, so she brings whatever her mother made for them.
steve and robin wear matching outfits at the byers house (to which eddie and nancy do NOT go crazy over. nancy will get drunk later and be all over robin. eddie will be completely sober and be all over steve.) and have a little gift for everyone, thanks to extra hours at family video. they also supply the christmas movies, which everyone will be gathered around the tv watching like, It’s a Wonderful Life (steve and robin re-enact) and Miracle on 34th Street, Charlie Brown Christmas and (it’s my headcanons i get to pick the movies) The Muppets Christmas Carol, which does NOT have everyone in tears by the very end. (including hopper, who swears up and down that he’s not crying, his eyes are just watery.)
i think they’d do a similar thing for new years too, tbh. all gather around the tv to watch the ball drop in times square, just because it’s nice and cozy and they can all be together, bc that’s what it’s all about. they’ve been through hell for the last couple of years, and all they really care about is being together and safe and able to see another year come and go, and that they’re all here.

Hmmm Robin, Merlin, and Roman?
First impression
Robin: AAHHH ROBIN HOOD IS HERE? OH HELL YEAH MY BOY I have a long history with Robin so I was excited to just see that he was in the game and that he was cute.
Merlin: Oh look at him he's so pretty what a pretty wizard-- oh he's a shithead too I see, I love that.
Roman: HE IS VERY CUTE, OH NO
Impression now
Robin: MY LOVE. MY DARLING. His personality is so good and I love his backstory and mindset and he's wonderful, heart eyes my good good outlaw.
Merlin: SHITHEAD (affectionate) but no really i love him a lot, he's great, I miss him, come back for more than 5 minutes soon okay babe?
Roman: [uncontrollable sobbing] COME HOME MY LOVE
Favorite moment
Robin: "Anderson Komadori" fucking ended my life immediately, but also his role in CCC. But also Salem was really good.
Merlin: His talk with Ana about being human/inhuman and all of that in Babylonia. But also everything he ever does in events to be a shitlord.
Roman: I think his flipping his lid over Merlin's existence was a delight, but weirdly his presence in the LB arc where he helps Fujimaru get their shit together is incredible too.
Idea for a story
Robin: Give him some fun downtime, I'd love to write some stuff with him interacting with Lancer Cu, especially given he was front row seats in America.
Merlin: CAMELOT SHENANIGANS I WANT TO SEE THE CHAOS IN THAT CASTLE OH MY GOD
Roman: I'm going to drag him home by his hair.
Unpopular opinion
Robin: I. Don't know enough about fan opinions on him.
Merlin: I'm not sure, I don't know fan opinions here either XD But I do like him unironically!
Roman: I am on my knees with the unpopular theory that Chaldean is Solomon at least in part, not just 100% Goetia.
Favorite relationship
Robin: DINGY SS CUROBIN WOO. But Robin and Sanson was a fun dynamic, and I love poor longsuffering Robin vs the CCC cast.
Merlin: Merlin and his tsundere love for the KOTR and Artoria, for sure-- but also Roman/Merlin.
Roman: I ship Roman and my Fujimaru whoops. But Roman/Merlin good, and also Roman should have gotten to interact with David and Sheba. Roman/Da Vinci besties A++++
Favorite headcanon
Robin: His father was an Irish druid and he has way too many freckles and also knows druid magic. Go watch BBC Robin of Sherwood right now I insist you'll see a lot of my hcs.
Merlin: I am CONVINCED this man is unknowingly half-fairy rather than half-incubus, it was just one of those "anything supernatural is demonic" early Christian misinterpretations of the situation by his mother and human family. Look at him, look at LB6, he's a fairy; it wouldn't change any of his talk about not being human, it just changes the flavor.
Roman: The man is fucking JEWISH, okay. Also too many freckles.

Yess all of this ^^ that's why I love fanfics in which she gets vecna'd, or flayed, because she wasn't nearly as angsty in s4 as she was in s3 (makes sense - she's happier now and doesn't feel so alone), but there's still so much pain inside of her to explore.
I like to imagine, for example, that Vickie may actually be straight and reject her - totally a headcanon for creative purposes, not an actual prediction - and it happens in such a horrible way that it makes Robin realize that she got overly excited and forgot to think, forgot that she lived in the 80's midwest and that she simply couldn't do that. And she feels so embarrassed for thinking it would work! She feels stupid and naive and it serves as a reminder that she doesn't get to have what everyone else does. Next time she sees Vickie in town, walking hand in hand with a boy, Vickie shoots her a quick look before leaning forward and whispering something into the boy's ear, who stares at Robin with such hate and disgust, she feels her blood run cold. She runs away before the boy can take more than two steps in her direction.
I also like to imagine that, despite what the fandom wants to believe, the party and the adults and older teenagers might not all be as progressive as we like to believe. It reminds me of something the author of the Bridgertown books said, thay she'd love to include jewish chatacters in her books, but she knew how antisemitic Europe was at that time, and she hated to think her characters would realistically be antisemitic because she wanted them to be good people. If she wanted to make all her characters not antisemitic, she needed a realistic explanation for them to be conveniently so ideologically different from everyone else around them. It's a very complicated predicament that I'm sure a lot of authors stumble upon more than once, and it's very interesting to me in this situation because it makes me think about the possibility of more than one member of the main cast not being supportive of Robin at all. Plus, there's a reason she hasn't come out to Dustin, despite him being the one she should know best alongside Steve. Or to anyone in the party for that matter. She doesn't trust them fully, even if she likes them, because she clearly likes Nancy and thinks she's a genius, and she'd rather have her as a friend even though she assumes she may not accept her. She sacrifices parts of herself in that way to avoid rejection, and she sees nothing wrong with that.
The only members of the main cast that I imagine being fully supportive, apart from Steve, are Joyce, Max, Will and El. I'm sorry but I can't see Hopper being a big super progressive ally. I think he wouldn't outright say anything bad about it, but suddenly he's treating her as if she were a boy, keeping an eye on her and making sure El never joins a girl's movie night in which Robin is be present. Mike and Lucas may react mildly grossed out until Dustin tells them to shut up, but I don't include Dustin in the list above because I think he'd say something along the lines of "think about it, she's practically one of the guys, like another Steve" and then he'd be very annoying and try to include her in their gross teenage boy talks about girls, as if she were a novelty or a new toy or something, but Robin doesn't want to make a ranking of "high school girls with the biggest boobies" with a bunch of 15yo boys, and Dustin doesn't understand why she isn't as eager to objetify random girls with them. All of this is still better than Nancy suddenly acting all awkward and distant with her even thought she tells her over and over everything's fine, but she clings a little bit more tightly to Jonathan when Robin is around, and Jonathan keeps giving her these suspicious looks that make her want to crawl into the earth and never come out. No one would be outright violent with her - closest instance to that was one time El wanted Max, Nancy and Robin to teach her how sleepovers were like, and as they all walked into the house, Robin being the last, Hopper put a firm hand on her chest to stop her and told her to tell the girls she suddenly remember she had to do something, and leave. Joyce scolds him really bad after that, but he doesn't see how he did anything any other parent wouldn't do. No, he doesn't have a problem with Robin - he has a problem with Robin sleeping in the same bedroom as his daughter. He wouldn't let Steve have a sleepover with El, so why does he need to put up with Robin? At least Joyce and Will are nice to her :') but that doesn't stop her from feeling like a freak.
Ik everyone loves platinic with capital p stobin, everyone loves their friendship, i'm not Not Like The Other girls there, I adore them too. But i've seen a few ideas that I don't necessarily strongly disagree with, but that I'd like to suggest an alternative perspective to.
Mainly, the idea that Robin would be a Bros Before Hoes kind of lesbian. Not an unreasonable idea, not a bad idea - but consider Robin watching Nancy break up with Jonathan, Steve gravitating back to her side, they spin around each other, he tells Robin he still loves her, and for a moment, it looks like Nancy loves him to. And Robin bites her tongue and it burns because ever since she met Steve, this is the first time she feels she needs to hide again. To not tell him she's in love. But she's only human and she can only take so much shameful jealousy and longing, and one day she cracks and screams everything to him. She yells with tears in her eyes, wildly gesticulating with her hands, that Steve doesn't understand Nancy, that he should be able to see Nancy would never be happy following his dream, and she hates to say it, hates even more to think it, but in her darkest moments, she lets herself realize she'd be able to give Nancy the life she wants if Nancy looked at her - and she feels predatory and gross for thinking that way, but having a real fight with Steve for the first time, she she says things whose aftertaste later feels monstruos in her mouth - that is he stupid? and does he not know Nancy? and she doesn't care that he's known her for much longer, and no, she's not stepping out of line, he is, and he asks why does she feel entitled to have an opinion on his relationship or what Nancy chooses, and she almost snaps and says "because I... I'm her friend". Steve is not stupid, actually. Okay, he is, but he knows Robin, and it took him a moment - he's slow like that - and it dawns on him, that his best friend is in love with his girlfriend, and she's fighting him for her.

HELLO IM BORED SO HERES MY FRUITY FOUR HEADCANONS
(disclaimer: i myself am disabled jewish gay and trans so most of this is projecting but shhhhhh)
Steve is autistic in the sense that he doesn’t understand social cues and tries to imitate those around him to mask.
His parents (barf) used to yell at him for his autistic traits when he was younger, thus he started imitating ppl so he’d fit in
He has problems with a lot of clothing textures, so he usually alternates between the same 3 polos and the occasional sweater paired with a pair of very comfortable jeans
Robin spots it a mile away
Robin is also autistic, but being a woman in 80s nobody cared and just thought she was weird
When they hang out its just them making weird noises and repeating eachother while laying over eachother
Robin is a bit better with social cues, but she doesn’t get when its “her turn” to talk, and ends up interrupting others or talking over them
She doesn’t mean it!! She feels really bad afterwards
Expect a million and one apologies
She also rants and talks very loud + fast when she gets excited. She usually stims when this happens, either rocking back and forth or shaking her hands
Nancy I’m less sure on whether or not she’s autistic but idc
She is autistic because I said so and also autistic people tend to flock together
She tends to be very quiet unless comfortable around someone
Almost always fiddling with something in her hands
Pens, toys, you name it
When she is interested in something she will spend hours upon hours researching it
And in random conversations she’ll just say something like “Did you know that pigs don’t sweat?” and pretend like its a totally normal thing to say
Eddie munson is autistic and i will stand by that until i die!!!!
Does not understand social cues in the slightest
Tell a joke that requires more than 2 seconds of thinking and he’ll stare at you until you explain it
But he is in no means stupid
He just has trouble focusing things that don’t interest him (cough me cough)
He could tell you in depth about a galaxy he fixated on with so much detail you’d think hes an astronomer
Nest minute he’d ask you how to di long division
Mans is all over the place
Very touchy
Pressure is a huge thing for him
Needs pressure on him or he can’t relax
Ok general headcanon time
Steve is jewish
He never got to celebrate his holidays with family and when dustin heard this (i think dustin is jewish too) he immediately gets dragged into holidays with the hendersons
He complains but nothing makes him happier than the stupid plastic menorah that they light every year (“Fire is dangerous, dusty!!”)
Eventually Robin gets roped into it. Shes not jewish but she loved spending time with her friends
Very confused but supportive. (“whats with the balls in this soup?? IM SUPPOSED TO EAT IT???????”)
All of them have movie nights every week. Its called a movie night but its more “a movie plays in the background while they all comfort each other about their shared trauma” night
Eddie loves trinkets
He has multiple shelves filled with just little trinkets
His prized possession is a guitar pick he caught while at a metal show
Nancy and Robin pass notes with stupid shit in it during class (mainly Robin and Nancy pretending to be annoyed but she loves it)
Once they got caught, they had to read out “dost thou fancy cheese, fair maiden of egg?”
Teacher of that class now ignores their note passing
Eddie has chronic pain in his hands from guitar (same)
Steve cradles Eddie’s hands in his and makes him hold heat packs until the pain goes down
All of them are platonic soulmates
Steve and Eddie are together
Nancy and Robin are together
Constantly go on “Double Dates” and Eddie and Nancy pretend to date while Steve and Robin pretend to date
All constantly get drunk/high/both together and once more, do stupid shit
Like ride a shopping cart down a really big hill stupid
IN CONCLUSION: I LOVE MY BLORBOS AND THEY LOVE EACH OTHER!!!

Is Tim Jewish? I saw someone say that he was but idk if that’s true. My knowledge on him is slim and new
Not canonically. It’s a popular hc and I think people get confused sometimes because Tim being Jewish is something that Dixon had apparently (I see people say he said this frequently but have never been able to find an actual source on where he said it- so I can’t really speak to the validity of it) mentioned wanting to incorporate into his character, but it never actually made it into any Tim comics.
Tim is only ever shown celebrating like, Christmas in terms of holidays tied to religion, and we know for certain his father was not religious while his mother was ‘a little religious’ without that religion ever specified. When he attempted to connect with religion after his parents’ deaths he went towards Christianity, which implies that was what the 'a little religious' was talking about irt his mom and that was him trying to connect with what she believed, but it's definitely still left ambiguous:
Tumblr media
(Red Robin #22)
But ultimately in the end he found himself unable to believe, not identifying with a religion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Red Robin #22)
So like, several people chose to interpret the ‘a little religious’ as his mom having been Jewish thus making him also Jewish (yes even though he doesn't personally practice/believe in canon- if his mom was Jewish he would be considered Jewish too), but that’s a headcanon rather than something ever explicitly stated on the page.

if anyone wants to recommend musicals to me I would fucking adore that. Until then, here are some suggestions:
Love in Hate Nation-- LET’S GO LESBIANS! 1960s sapphic love story taking place in a girls’ reformatory. Also, trans girl played by trans actress!!! Some of the amazing songs are “I Hope” and “Oh Well”. Susannah Son wants to be a singer, her performative activist boyfriend is gross and also wants her to marry him so he’ll have better options politically. Sheila Nail is so fucking cool and I love everyone in this. My brain cuts out about this I’m so sorry babes. There is not a cast recording but there IS an original cast bootleg on youtube.
Holy Musical B@man!-- If you liked the goofiness of 1960s Batman and Robin, but think “man, these guys should’ve been able to swear! And also should have had a candy themed villain!” this is the musical for you. Also if you’ve heard of the very queer Harry Potter musical that JK herself tried to sue over, it’s made by the same group <3. As usual with Team Starkid, whole thing is up for free on youtube by the creators.
Firebringer-- Speaking of the same group... Cave people sapphics who I think are bi or pan. I love them and they’re all so dumb. Also, if you’ve seen the “I don’t really wanna do the work today” vine, that comes from this. I do not remember any of the second half other than one of them taking the ring the other is proposing with... to propose. And the “*blows kiss*” “fuck no, Zazz” “duly noted”. Kind of like a shitpost musical. Once again, free by creators. Actually, check out any of their musicals.
The Prom-- In Indiana, Emma just wants to take her girlfriend to the prom, and in response, the PTA cancels it. With some help from some broadway actors looking for good publicity, they manage to pull it off. So, to summarize, teen lesbian gets gay uncle who knows what she’s going through!! This musical makes me cry every goddamn time. There is a movie now, and I’m very happy about that because *high profile gay rep on netflix*, but I personally did not like the direction they took with it. They put a weird amount of emphasis on biological rather than found family in the movie, and were a little too forgiving when it came to trauma from family for being gay. Also, they took away Emma being butch. This was sadly (loosely) based on a recent true story from I think 2012. Also, was the first gay kiss in the Macy’s parade. You know those movie musicals the straight girls in theater like? The music is similar, but gayer, and for some reason that makes me so fuckng happy. I think it’s because non-queer people have had musicals for so long, and those normally have a 60s vibe, and the music in this does too and it feels more classic?? Sapphic promposal song (het at the beginning). “Unruly Heart” and the end of Act 1 will break you. Please ignore the bad wigs.
Spies Are Forever-- GAY SPIES GAY SPIES GAY SPIES!! Curt Mega (played by... Curt Mega) lost his partner Owen during a mission. Now, he’s just trying to get back into spying like Owen would want. I fucking weep every time. Also, a song about comphet (at 6:36)!! And here is a video essay on how it relates to the Lavender Scare. I want you all to know that everyone also headcanons the femme fatale spy in it as either a lesbian or aroace, which uh, makes sense. Also high quality videos put up by creators. They had Jewish people making fun of Nazis while writing this, but “Not so Bad” is... kinda bad. “Torture Tango” has so much goddamn sexual tension and becomes devastating.
Hadestown--  If you know the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, it’s like that, except capitalism part 1. Orpheus is a poor musician, Eurydice dies, just like the myth. Except, the Great Depression post-apocalyptic setting that works better than it probably should. There are actually 3 soundtracks: the concept album, off-Broadway, and Broadway. I personally don’t like the concept album purely based on vibe. Off-Broadway has an absolutely gorgeous sounding Orpheus, and if you’ve heard of the disaster that was Spiderman: Turn Out the Dark, then you’ve heard of surprisingly amazing Broadway Orpheus Reeve Carney. The Fates are gorgeous and I’ve decided they’re queer. Tony’s performance link here. Explores relationships, with Hades and Persephone’s aging relationship mirrored by Orpheus and Eurydice’s relatively new one. Anyway, unionize.
Jasper in Deadland-- If you know the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, it’s like that, except capitalism part 2. Jasper is a teen who’s best friend Agnes is pretty much the one good thing left in his life. His mom left, he got kicked off the swim team (he’s manic pixie dream boy in this, especially for swimming), and Agnes dies at the beginning trying to show Jasper that she’s brave and he should be too. So, he bravely ventures into Deadland to find her, meeting Gretchen the tour guide along the way. He also finds out that since he’s still living, he can bring memories back to the dead. Songs like “Stroke by Stroke” (he’s uh, definitely a teen, guys) and “Living Dead” (I shared a prinxiety animatic of that on here a while ago). They blend Greek, Norse, Egyptian, Christian, and whatever Dante’s Inferno counts as together to create Deadland. Story’s kinda hard to follow from the soundtrack, so if u wanna learn how it all ties together message me.
Death Note Musical-- Okay babes, here’s where it gets tough. It was written originally in English, and there is a spectacular English concept album, but the only productions have been in South Korea, Japan, and I think Taiwan. Listen to it anyways, find a bootleg of it with english subtitles. It has so much gay tension and also a truly ethereal character who seems to be a lesbian who is also either demisexual or demiromantic. If any of y’all saw the anime like me, it kind of cuts out the arc after episode 26. I personally thought it was actually a better story for it.
Alice by Heart-- Okay, this one makes me fucking cry every goddamn time. In WW2, these poor goddamn kids are all alone in the Tube System (is that what y’all call it? genuinely asking here) with none of their parents but still some grownups. Alice’s best friend Alfred is dying of tuberculosis, and to try to have one last thing together they start reading Alice in Wonderland, only for Nurse Hart to rip it apart to try to separate healthy Alice from dying-from-TB Alfred. It doesn’t work, and Alice proclaims she “knows it all by heart”, She tries to linger in the story with Alfred to have more time with him, he keeps trying to move it along because he’s dying and wants to finish it one last time. Themes are growing up and grief I guess.
Last I checked, there is a bootleg for all of these on youtube. Have fun!

Ok, to go with my headcanon about the Hogwarts Founders (to wit: based on etymology, they can't be contemporous), I have headcanons about Hogwarts castle itself.
Number one! It, like the Founders, was ALSO not all contemporous. (And my apologies that I still can't find the goddamn keep-reading option.)
Helga never-actually-Hufflepuff's Hogwarts, c. 990-1090:
The original and oldest part of the school is the tower that now houses the famous moving staircases and the Headmaster's Office. (It wasn't alone, though: it had a number of outbuildings, stables and smithies and such, that have long since vanished.)
The tower was not, at the time, a hollow column full of moving staircases. It was a defensive watchtower akin to Threave Castle in Scotland, though somewhat taller and a little bit larger. It was also not round at the time, which can still be seen in the fact that the interior is square; later generations simply added walls to make it round. There are almost certainly late medieval and Renaissance defenses, as well as secret passages, built into the space between the original tower and the rounding walls.
The tower's long-since-removed floors:
Cellars (wine and cold storage).
Ground floor (entrance, reception, kitchens).
2nd floor, in the American style of count (dining, Helga's room).
3rd floor (classrooms)
4th floor (dorms: divided by gender and class rather than age)
5th floor (servants and defense).
The cellars expanded regularly over the centuries, a new room or corridor or floor built every time the castle's population (or political demands, see below) needed more cold storage.
The conical roof and the modern Headmaster's suite were added at a much later date.
Rowena Hraefenclew's Hogwarts, c. 1050-1150:
The first expansion of the castle was the modern-day Great Hall, though it lacked the enchanted ceiling attributed later to Ravenclaw. The recieving of guests was transferred to this space from the original tower, and the grand entertainments of medieval feasts and banquets were added to school life -- a requirement of any social networking, as Rowena steered the school through the political mess of the era without getting entangled in any of it.
(The enchanted ceiling was a Renaissance creation, adding light to what had been a very dim space. The original enchantment wasn't of the sky, though, and the modern ceiling would appall the people of the 1400s: what is so grand or impressive or artistic about just making the roof invisible?
(Not having a masterpiece of Christian religious art looming over the heads of hundreds -- thousands -- of magicals who'd just lived through zealous persecution, is what. The people who charmed it all invisible considered the frescoes to be quite gauche and impolitic.))
Salazar Slytherin and Godric Gryffindor's Hogwarts, c. 1150-1250:
The High Middle Ages brought a massive amount of upheaval to England (and France: half of the modern nation was ruled by England at the start of this period), as well as the rest of Europe. This is the era later connected to Robin Hood, the age of the Magna Carta and Richard the Lionheart and Prince (King) John... and that is where we begin, with Richard faffing off to join the (many, many, MANY) Crusades, and King John losing the entirety of the French regions of his rule. Loss of land = loss of wealth --> spikes in taxes and fees on nobles --> furious nobles --> Magna Carta + King John's reputation forever in the toilet + the absentee and therefore not interfering with nobles' power and money King Richard getting lauded as the best king ever (spoiler: he v much was NOT).
Richard's career included internecine rebellions, uprisings, cruelty in what provinces he bothered to rule (in France), and widespread Jewish persecution. (Things that are pretty much always in Europe: Jewish persecution. The Crusades were mostly massive disasters that did very little to Islamic rule and population in the Holy Land, but exterminated some 90% of Jewish Europe on the way. HSST.)
All of this is to say that Salazar and Godric's Hogwarts expanded to accomodate thousands of Jewish, wandering-poor, and magical refugees from the Continent: Hogwarts was still the only formal, centralized school of magic in all of Europe, and would be for several more decades.
The school still didn't reach the modern extent by the end of this building period, but got up to about 50 percent, adding almost everything on one side of the ravine that cuts through the bluff. Except for the clock tower, the Great Hall's half of the school was complete.
This is also when Hogsmeade changed from being a House-Elf farming settlement to a human town, and for the same reason: Continental refugees, largely from the Childrens' Crusade -- thousands of people of all ages, later thought to all be children due to a misunderstanding in language. (The word for "child" was co-opted to mean "the working/wandering poor": basically, "the (socially) powerless".)
The post-Founders' Hogwarts, c. 1250-1900:
The second half of the school, the conical tower rooftops (and rooms inside them), the internal plumbing for baths (but not toilets), and all the bridges -- both the stone ones across the ravine and the wooden one to Hogsmeade -- were all built in a hurry in the late 1500 and early 1600s, this time to handle refugees during the last few decades before the Statute of Secrecy. The modern Headmaster's Office was also built at this time, as high as possible to cover all approaches to Hogwarts.
Unlike the stone bridges of the ravine, the bridge to Hogsmeade has always been made of wood, in order to be easily destroyed should the castle come under attack. (And in fact it actually has been destroyed several times, most recently in the 1970s as a pre-emptive measure against Voldemort. It was then rebuilt in 1982 with more nostalgia than construction skill.)
As mentioned before, this -- the early 1600s -- is when the Great Hall's enchanted fresco ceiling was rendered invisible.
The T-shaped clock wing on the Great Hall's side, being a six-story pendulum-type clock, was built in the early 1800s, and improved in the late 1800s for accuracy and not whacking students around like golf balls. (The restrooms were also added and improved at these times.)
The greenhouses were built around 1900: Dumbledore might well have had Herbology classes before they were put in.
Now then. That is all headcanon #1. Construction headcanon #2:
Hogwarts is in TERRIBLE condition.
The famous enchanted ceiling is perhaps the most obvious damaged spot. Or it would be if it hadn't been charmed invisible. While it had Owl Post holes in it. (For the record, the easiest way to bring down, say, a barn? Chop a 3x3 ft. hole in the roof and wait ten years.) For the last four or five centuries, every time someone on staff noticed they were getting dripped on, they just threw an Impervious Charm up at the ceiling and considered the leak magically fixed. There's literally nothing left but the Impervious charms and a few scraps of gold leaf.
The stairs are another trouble spot. Centuries of people walking on them should have them worn down in the middle to look like you cut a bowl in half vertically. Would have, but the House Elves have been pulling the stone up flat again for centuries, and eventually started using magic to color-match and add enough support to the remaining stone to take people's weight. Some of the well-known trick stairs that like to disappear? That's not the magic being playful. That's the magic of late House Elves fritzing out to show there's no step left. (The moving stairs have also ground down their joints to nothing.)
It's the same across the entire castle. Centuries of manipulating the materials and covering wear with illusions and throwing Impervious Charms at drafts and drips means a lot of Hogwarts is nothing but swiss cheese and fading spells cast by long-deceased magicals anymore.
(Or it was, until the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998 disrupted enough of the remaining spells to drop them. Voldemort's forces were powerful, but not THAT powerful.)
(A large percentage of the two generations following Harry's were saved by the Battle of Hogwarts. Slytherin House was a misaimed hex away from flooding, and most of the towers were going to collapse with a few more winters of ice picking away at the mortar. Of course if the previous several centuries of magicals had just bothered to check...)
