hii so i‘m way to invested in everyone‘s baldurs gate plays. can we see your tavs? I would love to see them haha😭
YESSSSSS i will happily take any excuse to talk about my tavs. 🥰 i'm sorry this took so long. i wanted to have their Lore™ a little more set in stone before answering this, but then i proceeded to make uhhhh 2 more tavs and a durge. 🤡

i am listing my characters in the order i created them. they're all good/neutral aligned because being mean in video games makes me break out in hives. aaaaand this is going under a read more because it got really fucking long. 🥴

marqwyn stoneheart
race: human
class: eldritch knight fighter
background: soldier
romance: gale
my first tav who i adore. ❤️ i stole her name from the very first character i created for a now abandoned dnd campaign (though she's nothing like og marqwyn). she's a former flaming fist who left their service due to the corruption she witnessed there. after leaving the city she became an independent soldier for hire—but she's a terrible mercenary because she's a bleeding heart who will help people because they need it, regardless of whether they can pay her or not.
she has dragged the party into many an unnecessary brawl because her charisma is literally in the negatives. we love a girl incapable of talking herself out of Situations. she also used to have two brown eyes before deciding to get herself volo'd during a brief moment of desperation-fuelled insanity.
her backstory has changed a lot since i first made her, mostly because i didn't really have anything in mind when i started playing. 😬 i also had no fucking clue what i was doing when i first started and it certainly shows (tons of missed content, didn't take enough long rests, completely missed lae'zel for the first ~30 hours of gameplay, have done quests in an extremely questionable order, etc.).
i romanced gale with her because the wizard had me by the jugular the second he opened his mouth, and buff wife who hits things with her big sword and her squishy wizard husband who casts counterspell is something that can be so personal. that being said, i do want to rework her character and do another playthrough with her, probably romancing wyll, because her playthrough is a mess.
i will now dip into the alternate canon that lives in my brain in which my next three tavs are allowed to coexist, so just stay with me here and trust in the vision ajgjsdgf

meadow moonwillow
race: mephistopheles tiefling
class: storm sorcerer, bard of the college of lore
background: entertainer
romance: karlach (or enya in the canon that exists in my head)
i made her specifically for my karlach romance run, because best girl deserves a little sunshine to match her own. meadow was born to play gigs in dive bars, but was cursed with a natural talent for magic. 😔 she'll use it because it's useful in a fight, i guess, but she'd much rather insult people to death. if there is shit to be disturbed, she will disturb it.
her and gale are best friends, because i think having some friendly spell caster competition with his bestie who (begrudgingly) lets him teach her wizard spells would be good for his mental health. her and wyll butt heads a bit at first, mostly because meadow's way of trying to comfort people is through humor, and her attempts to make him feel better about his new devil form come off as insensitive (inspired by the way i accidentally insulted wyll at the tiefling party in my meadow playthrough by joking that i was jealous of his horns. king i swear it was meant as a compliment!! 😭). eventually they become really close, which is certainly a necessity when you're both going on a vacation to hell with no set end date.
also my choice of name for her definitely has nothing to do with the fact that i am in the middle of watching the sopranos. definitely not.

landric sparrowsong, "the wrath-bringer"
race: human
class: oath of vengeance paladin, tempest domain cleric of ilmater
background: sage
romance: gale
his backstory is probably the one i've thought about in the most detail, mostly because he's a walking tragedy and i live for that shit. 🧍🏻♀️
he was once a school teacher and wasn't much of a fighter at all before his little village near baldur's gate was razed to the ground and his wife and (or so he thinks 👀) daughter were killed, at which point he took up his oath of vengeance. his favourite pastimes now include self-sacrifice and violently murdering evildoers, hence the "wrath-bringer" epithet.
he has been alone—mostly by choice, because he can't lose any more loved ones if there is no one left alive that he loves—for over a decade by the time he's infected, but the forced proximity means the companions very quickly get under his skin. he's very protective of meadow especially (when they're both in the party at the same time in the universe that exists in my head) because she reminds him of his daughter.
he is god's favourite sacrificial lamb, and is consistently the first to go down in a fight (inspired by me, constantly getting him killed by taking far too long to figure out how to play a support class). naturally i paired him with gale because i think the idea of a guy finally opening his heart to the love of another after over a decade of self-imposed solitude out of fear of being hurt again, only for gale to decide to take on a suicide mission just as they're finally realizing their feelings for one another, is soooooo good and tragic. ☺️
he has a soft spot for children, but being around them makes him sad and withdrawn (for obvious reasons), something that the companions notice pretty quickly once they get to the grove and see his cold exterior totally melt around the kids there. he carries a journal which he adds to often, either little blurbs or sketches of people he meets in his travels, ever observing from afar as an outsider.
he was actually a war cleric of mystra when i first multiclassed him because the idea of this man finding solace in his goddes during the worst years of his life only for that same goddess to tell the first person he's truly loved in years that he needs to kill himself is sooooo. anyway. but i decided to change it because war domain just wasn't doing it for me and also have you seen ilmater's whole deal?
also if he bears a close resemblance to my favourite unromanceable assassin's creed npc, that's just a coincidence (lying).

enya sparrowsong
race: human
class: beast master ranger/circle of the land druid
background: urchin
romance: lae'zel (or meadow in the canon that exists in my head)
enya is landric's very alive daughter. i made her in the character creator with no intention of actually doing a playthrough as her, which is a lie i tell myself every time i open the character creator. 😔
ideally she would not even be filling the role of tav at all, but that's obviously not an option for an actual playthrough. she spent her childhood hunting and gathering in the wilds and later pickpocketing her way through the darkened alleys of baldur's gate to survive. in the version of her backstory that lives in my head, she eventually caught the attention of jaheira (by trying to rob her), who then took enya under her wing. the harpers became a family to her, and she is with them in the shadow lands when we meet them at last light in act two. also depending on my mood on any given day, enya and meadow are either bitter exes or couple of the year.
she is generally very abrasive with most people she doesn't know well (her and lae'zel are very perfect for each other), but has a soft spot for animals and orphans. she likes her solitude and it takes a lot of effort to earn her trust (there's a reason she's survived alone as long as she has) but once you do, she's ride-or-die.
she has a raven companion and her preferred wild shape is a wolf, but i've also had a lot of fun using her wolf wild shape and a wolf companion for twice the mauling in combat (and twice the torment for shadowheart—thank you sam for pointing out that she would fucking hate this 😭). i also like to think that she's been helping shadowheart get over her fear of wolves.
her relationship with her dad is deliciously complicated!!! but that's for another post.

idunn
race: high elf
class: necromancy wizard/gloom stalker ranger
background: haunted one
romance: astarion
i haven't played as her much yet, and she's my first durge so i don't really know a ton about that whole background. but her brain is currently scrambled egg and she doesn't remember her past so i figure it's fine if i don't know anything about it either.🧍🏻♀️
she's trying so very hard not to kill people, and making up for the lack of murder by being incredibly rude to everyone she meets [astarion approves]. i named her idunn because i like the name but also in large part because i think associating the dark urge with the norse goddess of rejuvenation and vitality is really funny.

aelius lucilius
race: drow half-elf
class: light domain cleric of selune
background: acolyte
romance: shadowheart
he's my newest tav and the one i've played the least, so i'm still working out his backstory. i honestly just really wanted to romance shadowheart as a selunite, which is working out great so far because the shar is already out of the bag and now she loudly and openly hates his fucking guts. 🤪
#all their backstories keep evolving as i play but but this is sort of where they're at right now#if i keep picking away at it like i have been i'll never actually post it so here#thank you so much for asking i am having far too much fun creating my little guys 🥰#alkibiadessuperfan#answer#ky posts text#kyra plays bg3#my tav#bg3 ocs#my ocs#oc marqwyn#oc meadow#oc landric#oc enya#oc idunn#oc aelius

Okay, DnD fans, can I get a bit of criticism here? I'm reading the 5e handbook, and I'm still a little confused about some things. Here's my character so far(I didn't even want to touch the stats yet, in fear that I have to use the guidebook's stats for his species).
Meet Blackthorn, often known as just Thorn. He's a young, red kobold(He's a kobold's equivalent to about 16 or 17 years old) that is also a sorcerer(For now, anyway. I might make him a fighter or rogue). He's gained his power from his dragon(Who is now unnamed, I'll come up with one later), who acted primarily as his guardian/babysitter, for him as well as many other kobolds in his den. The only two worth mentioning in his backstory are Hydra and Armari.
*Their names are based on the three primary colors: Red, yellow and blue. If you get pricked by a thorn, you're likely to bleed, so that's how Thorn earned his name(Along with the fact that he's a pit of a pain in the neck due to his sense of adventure). Hydra is short for Hydrangea, which is seen as a blue plant on occasion. And Armari sounds a little like amarillo, a translation of the color yellow if I'm not wrong. Yes, they also appear as their respective colors.
Their alignments: -Thorn is Neutral Good(He's pretty willing to break the law if he knows it's for the better, but tends to avoid that option if he can) -Hydra is Lawful Good(He often scolds Thorn for doing stuff like that) -Armari is Chaotic Neutral(She is the most likely to become a full-blown psychopath out of the three of them. She's basically Thorn's devil in most situations, and Hydra is his angel).
They're pretty good friends, and if something does happen to go wrong, you can almost always blame all three of them for it. They do have their own friend groups, but they most often hang out with each other for some chaos.
One day, Armari wanted the three of them to have a competition: Whoever could not join a party and become a proper adventurer, but also complete a total of three missions, would win... something(I'm not too sure on what yet. Let's say they'd win bragging privileges for now).
Of course, Thorn agreed, wanting to go on yet another adventure. Hydra also agreed to it, but he was way more reluctant about it because he didn't want to get put in an early grave.
With that, they headed off, and would meet up with each other every few days to check how they were doing.
After a while, Thorn thought that the adventurer's life was pretty sweet, and continued on his journey, even after the competition was over(He won, by the way, but no one ever learned that, not even him).
Thorn(At least, how he is now), is a pretty solid magic user. He's either gonna specialize in fire or plant magic(Or whatever it's called, I honestly have no clue). His only real downside is that his spells aren't very... good? Like, they're fine, but they're just fine, you feel me? They do their job, but that's it.
If it's possible, I'm basing Thorn's spells on moves you'd find in Pokemon, like Absorb or Fire Spin. His level-up moveset is going to be very similar to the Joe-Schmoe's starter.
I didn't think about it for more than 30 seconds, but I feel like Thorn would have an Outlander background. He's technically a wild dude, not knowing what a true civilization looked like, but he'd still be able to speak Common well enough to be generally understood, although he'd be more fluent in languages like Draconic(Again, he lived with a dragon). He'd probably not understand how human things work, but Arceus dang it if he isn't gonna try.
Again, if there's something wrong, or if I missed anything, I am DESPERATELY accepting revisions.
I'll add more things in future reblogs, as I progress more with his character.

I’ve been playing dnd for about a year now, and I was kind of looking back on that year to figure out what kinds of characters I like to play, and I’ve noticed a lot of my dnd characters are old for their races, I have an elf that’s like 690 something, I have an owlin who’s like 80 something, a dwarf who’s 320 something, a firbolg who’s 470, a goblin who’s 54, and the thing they all have in common is they are spring chickens for their ages and the fact they are all mentally not fully there, the elf acts like they’re only 100 somewhat due to the fact they are a necromancy wizard and using necromancy to keep their life, my owlin rogue named laxim, the dm allowed me to infuse an entire bag of ball bearing with my cantrips (arcane trickster rogue) And I effectively made a nuke in dnd and he is stealthy as all get out so our last 2 sessions, nobody in the party has seen him, and what’s funny is the party is less concerned when they don’t see them, but are very concerned when they see him, The dwarf is Thaznoun, a totem barbarian/swarm keeper ranger, he used to live in the wild, they only people he knew were 3 other dwarves in a nearby farming town, he is rarely around society, he lives in the woods, working as a lumberjack, with a few farm animals, a cattle dog, and his adopted daughter who he found in the middle of the woods, completely alone and abandoned, he will climb trees and cut trees, my Firbolg was named Arthur, he was a circle of the land (forest) Druid, he had always lived in the wild, he never knew his parents, and whenever anyone asked who raised him he said Mother Nature did, he has zero clue who is parents are, and he survived off of nature, he doesn’t eat much meat but prefers a more vegetarian option, he’s also a golden retriever kind of person, and last but no least The 54 year old goblin, Grick, Grick is a goblin artificer I played when I first had access to artificer, Grick was a high int character but his goblin nature didn’t align with his intelligence, so he was a mad scientist kind of situation, overall my dnd experience as a player has made me realize I tend to play a lot of old people as characters due to the fact I didn’t reall6 have my grandparents in my life, when I was younger, so I tend to try and take that role in dnd, the party’s oldest but not all there person

The muse got me by the throat again so I made animated pixel art for one of my dnd characters (remy my beloved if you're reading this keep scrolling it's a secret ik I already told like all of you some details but I am going to play more secretively than I expected)
The character in question is a cervitaur cleric named viridian sibirica, and their patron is straight up just the ceaseless watcher
This is a fancy version of their symbol which I'm really proud of especially since I was kinda just sketching lines
They have a warhammer and plenty of fun spells (toll the dead my beloved) and I'm very excited to play them (the fact that they serve the eye while im stranger aligned will be. interesting, probably)
I'm adding fun details like an invocation for their patron, the fact that they give out a fake name bc the real one has clues to the fact they serve the eye, and the fact that they have a very difficult time lying (that ones mostly just leaning into the fact that I always give my lowest score to charisma and inevitably have low deception)
The fake last name they give is agaric, which is the poisonous classic red-with-white-spots mushroom. Sibirica is part of the scientific name for the Siberian iris (like the part of the eye), contains three different letter 'i's (just like viridian)(homophone of eye), and then also is kindof a reference to a horror podcast that has nothing to do with eyes but I'm not at all normal about. Perfect.
Edit bc I forgot: I made it with https://www.piskelapp.com/ , it's a free website, it's pretty fun, and you don't need an account to do anything (at least that I've seen)
#after i decided their last name i just went all in and changed their eye color from grey to greybluepurple#dnd#my art#viridian agaric

Mw2 Guys and DND HC's
AN: I’ve never played dnd I’ve only done a bit of pathfinder so if I get anything wrong lmk
Gaz
I’ll start off with their classes
For Gaz he gives me Paladin or Fighter
Basic Ik but with his time being a soldier he tends to like to stick close to home with his characters
I also feel like they’d either be a Human or a Half-Elf, I can’t explain why but the vibes are right.
He also probably hasn’t played dnd before so he’d try to stay safe with his character and try not to get killed.
Oh and for alignment chaotic neutral, it’s still safe but he wants to cause some trouble yk
Soap
He gives me “my character is 10x more chaotic than me”
So for that I’m giving him either the Bard or the Sorcerer and I’ll explain why in a moment
Bards are known very well for being charismatic, and he’d use that to get into some trouble.
And well Sorcerers can use magic, do you know how much chaos you can create with magic alone?
And for race he’d pick Dragonborn if he chose the Sorcerer
Half-Orc for Bard
Oh and his experience? Just as bad as Captain Price’s
Captain Price
First off you’d have to try to even get him to join
He’d call it childish but eventually give in to playing
Definitely had to ask Gaz to help him design his character
Also he’s pretty basic and would pick the Human to play as
His class? Probably the Barbarian cause it sounded cool to him
Just as I mentioned with Soap he barely has no experience
König
For König I’d have to say he’s definitely dabbled in dnd
He’s definitely watched YouTubers and their campaigns and when he heard about you trying to get players he was immediately down to join
For his class, he gives me Wizard or Cleric
While he can also be chaotic if he wants to he could also just be super relied on and not be seen as scary in the world of dnd which he has faced in the real world
Okay hear me out for race he would pick Dwarf or Halfling
Man’s has been tall his whole life, so who would blame him for wanting to be on the shorter side one in a while
Oh and experience? He’s got a good amount
Alejandro
Probably overheard Rudy mention it and it caught his interest
Just like the captain he also doesn’t have much experience but he wants to have fun with it and with making his character
For his class, either the Bard (Like Soap Ik) or the Ranger
It lets him be as versatile as he wants and can also charm people up if Yk what I mean.
If you’re the Dm he will ‘flirt’ with the npc’s and as a result force you to act out these scenes
Ghost
Okay now ghost here acts like he has no clue what dnd is but let’s be honest he totally knows what it is
Very stereotypical but for class I feel like he’d pick the rogue, plus it’s fitting
For his characters race? Tiefling or a Human, since they both fit him as a character
Him and Soap banter about their plans and he pulls rank every time.

I know it seems bad but you have to realize that Mike's "thoughts" do not align with what we see in *literally* the first episode. I mean, he's wearing the hellfire shirt for crying out loud, if he really thought that it was only for kids why tf would he be a walking advertisement??
And if I remember correctly they got mad at Lucas for daring to do something else other than playing DnD?
Also keep in mind Will probably has 0 clues about the hellfire club existing. Idk I'm holding off on in depth analyses bc i want to read everything myself but these are just my initial thoughts. I could very well be wrong but if I am, what we're shown in the show simply does not make sense.

I think it’s so funny looking back on how I found critical role because it’s just too funny in my mind. I have the exact date too. Why? Because I have photos on my phone from a thingy earlier that day. And the next day I saved fanart and offical designs lol.
I had no interest in ever playing dnd. I kind of knew The Adventure Zone but it was a dnd podcast so I didn’t care for it except when it would trend on tumblr. Then the 28th of July, 2018 happened.
I was very bored so I thought I would look up fantasy hybrids because that’s my jam. First it was stuff like Vampire x Mermaid hybrids but turned into Elf x Orc hybrids. Then I saw a word I’ve never seen before; Tiefling.
Curious I looked it up through tumblr. There was lots of art of these rainbow fiend people but one particular purple tiefling kept popping up. “Who is Mollymauk Tealeaf? I will look him up- WHAT DO YOU MEAN HES DEAD??”
Had zero clue about this man but I love the colour purple and this purple character is dead. I was distraught (/Jk)
So a course I would look up critical role, get confused on which is season 1 and 2, confused by Sam Reigal’s ad and just mortified at the length of time on 1 video.
Wanna know the funny thing? Caduceus, the player character that was introduced to replace the dead one, made his first appearance one day before.
Also I had no clue when the live streams start but I accidentally caught them live. After a week of researching, liking fanart and watching clips, I had a good idea who’s who and what was going on.
My phone went flat after Nott’s line “Case closed” ;0;
Also it was the 29th episode of campaign 2, 29 is my lucky number. The stars were aligned!

I want to hear about them ALLLLLLLLLLL
I will do my best to present my Toonkind Dnd OCs. : > And thanks for you patience - I was doodling you some fresh things. Got excited to draw them! : D First is Fivi Skia! She's a tall Yuan-ti shadow sorcerer snake lady. Pronouns she/her...but, hm. Maybe a they? Not sure. She's semi-recently journeyed to Toontown in the world she's in - it's a more modern place then what she's used to and crowds cause her problems so she stick to alley-ways. She likes learning more and more about magic and maybe making some friends along the way would be nice.

My latest coloured picture of her. Casting ray of sickness. Nothing bad has happened to her yet so to speak but...hm. We'll see.

She's currently deciphering a cryptic pink and glittery diary another character gave her (@xofre I am looking at you. : >) and might be in another game soon - so I'm excited about that. The second! Technically my most recent creation: Benny Badwolf! Now he(he/him) IS a toonkind! Think...Loony-tunes stuff? Sorta? Right now he's somewhere in the middle of working for a mob family. He likes fights and breaking things. He wields a club that looks like a baseball-bat. I will admit this ask powered me to think more about him and ponder some backstory so - thank you for that.

I've been yelling about him in the Discord server I'm in a little. He's a wolf, he's loyal and while he's at least evil he's neutral at the moment in terms of alignment. He's a walking heater and if the power gets cut he might nonchalantly act as one for the colder members of the fam - but he'll deny if you ask. This comes with being hot-headed and easily excitable!

He's got a thing for lithe men - like...gymnasts or acrobats - he likes how they can move in ways he can't. He likes Jazz but he can't sing though (I don't think that'll stop him from trying). He will fall for the "Who's a good boy" thing often enough. He also has a truck licence! But no truck sadly. He's willing to ship goods if the mob fam asks him. My last right now - and....my most frustrating one -- Tep. Pronouns are at least: He/They/It and sometimes She. An alien based on the entity known as Nyarlathotep. It has an affinity for masks and likes this funny, rubbery, stretchy body the toon mask gives him. His design and backstory is still a work in progress! I might attempt a campaign with them as an NPC - I am uncertain!

His hair gives me a lot of trouble. It never seems to be swishy enough. He's...a bastard. I can't not love him though. But, Io! He walks the world! ...and mocks you with his words and....would like a big plan to bring some pets to the world he's in. Maybe there are some cultists? Not sure! (Yes I want him to have the Alien movement style I really like that danger get away from this one vibes. How that'll translate in an audio format only I have no clue). Anyway! Yeah! My characters! : D : D Thank you for the ask. <3333

How to Play as Link in DnD 5e (2.0)
With the release of both Mythic Odysseys of Theros and now the new big expansion in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, I figured now would be a good time to reexamine Link with the context of new subclasses, class features, and game mechanics that weren’t around the last time that I built him. While I won’t do this for every character I’ve built before, characters who have new options made available with these updates will get a new rebuild for 2021. If you want to compare and contrast this build to the original, I will link that build right [here].
The Spirit of the Hero
Link’s a Hylian and that’s just a fancy way of saying elf. His best racial options are either the High Elf, the Wood Elf, or the Half-Elf. Half-elf’s extra skills are tempting, but as Link is never given any parents or an ancestral family tree, we can’t really justify him as a half-elf. We’ll call him a Wood Elf for the extra +2 to his Dexterity and the +1 to his Wisdom as well as that woodsy vibe. But if you wanna go for a Half-Elf for the power build, I won’t tell anyone.
Link’s alignment is tricky. On the one hand, he is shown kneeling before the monarchy, defeating the forces of evil and darkness, and doing odd jobs to help the common people he comes across. However, he can also start forest fires, break into people’s houses, smash pots, steal people’s life savings or personal belongings, and attack the chicken population until they attack back. I’d wager he’s Neutral Good if for no other reason than his morality is highly dependent on the player.
My first choice for Link’s background would be the Folk Hero for Animal Handling and Survival. However, Link’s background is so inconsistent, it’s easier to just list out the skills he tends to have and tell you to pick a background that has those skills, or create your own: Animal Handling, Athletics, Investigation, Nature, Perception, or Survival. There’s a case to be made for other skills as well. Acrobatics works a little and his jumps did involve sick flips in Majora’s Mask, but Link doesn’t tend to balance or platform jump very often. Link can play instruments fine and danced in the Subrosian Dance Hall in Oracle of Seasons for Performance proficiency, but he’s usually playing instruments to activate effects, not to actually perform for a crowd. Link shows some Stealth skills in Breath of the Wild, but this hasn’t been a longstanding skill of his, so I didn’t lump it in with his main skill list.
Becoming a Hero
When it comes to his build, Link has made some use of spells in the past, but he’s nowhere near the spellcaster that Zelda and Ganondorf are. Link is definitely more of a martial fighter who augments himself with a wide arsenal of magical items. So when it comes to picking Link’s class, we have a few things to keep in mind.
BARD
Link is a talented young man, and he has had magical instruments in a few games over the years, as well as dancing in Subrosia, among other things. While I don’t subscribe to the idea of Link being a bard myself, I understand why people would come to this conclusion, as Link isn’t really bad at anything... except talking. And lying. And looking threatening. Or haggling. Yeah kind of hard to depict Link as a CHA caster who isn’t proficient in any CHA skill checks.
Spirits (UA) This doesn’t fit for every Link, but especially for Breath of the Wild where Link gets help from the spirits of his fallen comrades, the flavor of calling on the dead works for Link. For a non-BotW example, maybe Link can tell stories of his past lives, and the memories he shares with each of them.
Valor This college has the downside of being built as a cheerleader, while Link really should be built for solo-combat since that’s how he approaches most fights. But Valor is better than Swords and also gives Link proficiency with martial weapons and shields, while Swords does not.
FIGHTER
While there are many martial classes, the Fighter differentiates itself by being the most down-to-earth option. It’s not beholden to rage, or smites, hunting, or sneaking. It is the simple skill of the blade, and this is a skill Link has in spades. From the earliest games, Link has been a master of the sword, the shield, and the bow.
Battle Master Link is a strategic fighter. He looks for weak spots, and he exploits them the best he can. Of all the fighter subclasses, none is more clever than the Battle Master. Its many maneuvers resembles the numerous sword techniques Link has learned especially in the later games. Even in Smash, Link showcases how clever he is by being able to combine his arrows with his bombs and shoot a bomb arrow. To my knowledge, none of the other characters can combine their abilities like this in Smash.
Cavalier The subclass is poorly named, and was better in its initial name as the Knight, as that is really what this subclass is. It is the idea of the knight in shining armor. They can also be flavored as bodyguards, a traveling sellsword, or castle guards. So Link does not have to be glued to Epona to make use of this subclass. The main reason to want this subclass is the Warding Maneuver, as giving Link the chance to either block or reduce all damage he takes is going to seriously improve how well he can tank a hit, and help keep him in a fight longer.
PALADIN
More than any other class, the Paladin actually stands for something. They fight for a value or a belief. They swear their life to a cause and are prepared to die fighting for it. Link works on a lore level as a Paladin. Especially when he’s dedicated multiple lifetimes to the same cause. Across every timeline and game over screen, Link has always returned and stood in defiance against whatever evil may come.
Ancients This oath makes Link sworn to the forces of nature, such as the Great Fairy, and protecting the balance and harmony of the light, life, and love against death, decay, and darkness. The Ancients Paladin is all about protecting the balance in the world and valiantly opposing evil wherever it might arise. It also has a druidic or fey aspect, which kind of works for Link.
Crown With this vow, Link serves the Hyrulian Royal Family. This makes Link the princess’ personal knight, and an agent of lawfulness, order, and peacekeeping in the land. While 5e has backed away from typecasting Paladins as Lawful Good, this is probably the most Lawful subclass one could pick, as it places the authority of the royal family above all else.
Glory Instead of being sworn to the light or the law, the Glory Paladin is the harbinger of the goddesses. They are flavored as legendary heroes of destiny, possibly being demigods or the personal errand boys of the setting’s pantheon. This subclass is clearly focused on being a frontline warrior, and the features make Link a true force on the battlefield.
RANGER
Anyone who’s played Legend of Zelda knows that Link is very good at surviving. The games don’t tell you how to navigate the wilderness, Link just has to figure it out for himself. What’s more, Link may be willing to venture into the wilderness, but he’ll be hard-pressed to find many NPCs that far outside of settlements or cities. Yet what they fear, he thrives in. And it’s no wonder that this is the class most peole would assume for Link.
Hunter This conclave is the slayer of all things that threaten civilization. They can choose to be better at chipping away at one enemy, counter attack bigger monsters, or mow through hordes of minions with more ease by taking out multiple at a time. Especially at higher levels, this conclave excels at ripping apart Ganon’s forces with nary a golden curl out of place.
ROGUE
The rogue doesn’t need to be a wanted criminal on the lamb. They can be a clever fighter with a variety of skills and a knack for evasion. That speaks a lot more to Link’s skill set than one might assume at first glance. It’s not a perfect fit for Link, but it’s really not that inaccurate either.
Inquisitive This roguish archetype is defined by being clever in combat, looking for weak points to exploit. They’re also much more observant, making them better at discovering clues or secret passages, or telling when they’re being misled. At higher levels, their ability to look for weaknesses can even increase their sneak attack damage. This especially fits some of the older games where boss fights were focused on using items to exploit the dungeon boss’ weaknesses, rather than hacking away at their health bar. In these older titles, Link was less of a straight up warrior and more of a clever trickster pulling off strategic victories.
Scout The Scout Rogue has heavy Ranger vibes, as they get free expertise in Nature and Survival, enhanced mobility, the ability to disengage from fights more easily, and at higher levels become masters of ambushes. This fits well with Link’s sneakier sniper playstyle that can be done in Breath of the Wild, as Link can take out entire camps without ever being seen.
Thief While Link is not a standard cutpurse, Link is a treasure hunter, a dungeon delver, and the jokes about him robbing the people of Hyrule and breaking into people’s homes doesnt exactly help. The thief also gets to use more magical items, allowing Link to use things such as enchanted instruments without being a bard.
WARLOCK
Link usually isn’t the hero of his own volition. He often starts his journey with Triforce of Courage, a source of power gifted by his patrons. It’s honestly a weak connection, but it loosely works, so I’m including it.
Celestial While this subclass is geared toward serving something other than a god, I don’t see any reason why a Celestial Warlock couldn’t serve the Triple Goddesses of Hyrule or even Hylia/Zelda directly.
Hexblade The most obviously martial warlock option, this is a good choice if you want to incorporate Fi into your character.
Link’s Toy Chest
Hero’s Sword - Longsword (+1-3) Mirror Shield - Repulsion Shield Hero’s Bow - Oathbow Gale Boomerang - Storm Boomerang Fire Rod - Wand of Fireballs (requires spellcasting) Mastersword - Sword of Zariel, Holy Avenger Longsword* Hylian Shield - Shield of the Hidden Lord Goddess Bow - Ephixis, Bow of Nylea Golden Gauntlets - Gauntlets of Ogre Power Zora Tunic - Cloak of the Manta Ray Pegasus Boots - Boots of Speed Hover Boots - Boots of Levitation Hook Shot - Rope of Climbing
SIDEKICKS
Sidekicks are a new edition from Tasha’s that let Link bring allies on his hero’s journey. Experts are skill monkeys who focus on Help actions, Spellcasters dip into the INT, WIS, or CHA spell lists, and Warriors are trained to fight and don’t have to talk, so they can be animals.
Epona - Defender Warrior Riding Horse Navi - Expert or Healer Spellcaster Sprite Sidon - Attacker Warrior Merfolk Sheik - Expert Noble (Elf) Wolf Link - Attacker Warrior Wolf
Theros Piety
The Piety System from Theros lets us be devout to a god and earn features from worshiping them. As far as I’m aware, this is an optional feature, and not every DM will make use of these, but if you’re able to, here’s a handy guide. These gods really stood out as the clear choices for Link to go with.
Iroas - God of Victory
Domains: War Virtues: Achieve a great victory, Overcome slim odds honorably, Defeat a foe in single combat, Perform a great feat of strength or skill Sins: Being a coward in battle, Beat an honorable foe through deceit, harm innocents Piety Bonus: +3 Learn Compelled Duel spell +10 Learn Crusader’s Mantle spell +25 For 1 minute, creatures cannot gain advantage on you +50 Increase STR or CHA by 2 to a max of 22
Keranos - God of Storms
Domains: Knowledge, Tempest Virtues: Solve a riddle or puzzle, defeat an unwise enemy, plan ahead for an upcoming challenge, build or restore a temple to Keranos Sins: Jeopardize others through foolishness, ignore a wise course of action, fail to plan for a challenge, give in to anger or self-destruction
Piety Bonus: +3 Add 1d6 lightning damage to melee attack up to INT mod turns. +10 Reroll a failed INT or WIS saving throw +25 Advantage on Initiative rolls +50 Increase INT or WIS by 2 to a max of 22
Nylea - Goddess of the Wild
Domains: Nature Virtues: Help any wild animal, stop those who hunt for sport or profit, win an archery competition, slay an aberration, fiend, or undead Sins: Kill an animal without reason, Dedicate a building to or make a sacrifice for any god (including Nylea), protect a city from a natural disaster
Piety Bonus: +3 Learn Hunter’s Mark +10 Learn Speak with Animals +25 Attacking creatures must pass DC 15 WIS save or change targets. +50 Increase DEX or WIS by 2 to a max of 22
Cunning Tactician
Battle Master Fighter (12) Inquisitive Rogue (8) Fighting Style: Dueling Maneuvers: Brace, Disarming Strike, Feinting Attack, Parry, Precision Attack, Riposte, Sweeping Attack Tools: Thieves’ Tools, Mason’s Tools
While Link is brave and strong, he is most defined by his clever mind and unorthodox solutions to boss fights. With this class split, Link has prioritized strategy and tactics over everything else. While it leaves him a little squishier, Link is still a very capable warrior. As a Battle Master, he got a free tool proficiency. Mason’s Tools allows Link to find secret passageways in stone walls, which most dungeons tend to be made of. On top of that, with his Feinting Attack, Link can give himself advantage, meaning he can use Sneak Attack even in a 1v1 fight, which fits his solo adventurer playstyle.
One-Man Army
Battle Master Fighter (12) Hunter Ranger (8) Fighting Style: Dueling, Archery Maneuvers: Brace, Disarming Strike, Feinting Attack, Parry, Precision Attack, Riposte, Sweeping Attack Hunter’s Prey: Colossus Slayer, Multiattack Defense Tools: Mason’s Tools
I used this build once in a level 10 campaign. 6 levels of Fighter, 4 levels of Ranger with a +2 Longsword, and let me tell you something. This build creamed the competition, which was the other PCs at the table, who were also built as level 10 characters. Link nearly defeated his first opponent in a single round, dealing around 70 damage between his four attacks. When I say this is Link’s“power” build, I mean it. I didn’t even sweat when an adult blue dragon showed up after the tournament ended, that’s how much faith I had in Link’s ability to fight. I honestly forgot to even use Link’s battle maneuvers, he was just dealing so much damage that it slipped my mind. You could swap Battle Master for Cavalier, but for me, the Battle Master is more accurate to Link’s favor of techniques over basic hack-and-slash.
RANGER SPELLS
1 Absorb Elements, Ensnaring Strike, Hunter’s Mark 2 Cordon of Arrows, Healing Spirit
The Hero of Hyrule
Battle Master Fighter (12) Glory Paladin (8) Fighting Style: Archery, Dueling Maneuvers: Brace, Disarming Strike, Feinting Attack, Parry, Precision Attack, Riposte, Sweeping Attack Tools: Mason’s Tools
As a Glory Paladin, Link is driven by a desire to be a legendary hero, and at least in the UA version, the Glory Paladin served the gods, as Link does. Like the two builds above, Link balances the brute might of the Glory Paladin with the tactile diversity of the Battle Master.
PALADIN SPELLS
1 Cure Wounds, Divine Favor, Guiding Bolt, Heroism, Protection from Evil and Good, Searing Smite, Thunderous Smite, Wrathful Smite 2 Branding Smite, Enhance Ability, Find Steed, Magic Weapon, Warding Bond
Oaths and Promises
Glory Paladin (12) Celestial Warlock (8) Fighting Style: Dueling Pact: Blade Invocations: Eldritch Smite, Improved Pact Weapon, Maddening Hex, Relentless Hex
The builds from here on are more for the flavor than necessarily Link’s character. As a Blade Pact Paladock, Link becomes a CHA-focused martial with some extra spell slots that turn his smiting sword strikes into a bokoblin slurry machine. This build focuses Link more as a servant of the gods than anything else. Just make sure he has the Hex spell, but you can replace Maddening Hex with Agonizing Blast if you want to use the Master Sword laser beam at full potential.
PALADIN SPELLS
1 Divine Favor, Guiding Bolt, Heroism, Protection from Evil and Good, Searing Smite, Thunderous Smite, Wrathful Smite 2 Branding Smite, Enhance Ability, Find Steed, Magic Weapon, Warding Bond 3 Blinding Smite, Crusader’s Mantle, Elemental Weapon, Haste, Protection from Energy
WARLOCK SPELLS
C Blade Ward, Booming Blade, Sword Burst 1 Armor of Agathys, Cure Wounds, Hex 2 Lesser Restoration, Misty Step, Shatter 3 Spirit Shroud, Summon Fey 4 Galder’s Speedy Courier
To Serve and Protect
Battle Master Fighter (12) Crown Paladin (8) Fighting Style: Dueling, Interception Maneuvers: Bait and Switch, Brace, Disarming Strike, Goading Strike, Parry, Riposte, Sweeping Attack Tools: Mason’s Tools
Link is Zelda’s knight, bodyguard, and servant. So this build prioritizes features that makes Link the loyal emissary of the Princess of Hyrule. As such, this build changes Link’s role to be more of a defender to the princess than a solo hero. This build assumes that the princess or someone else who needs to be protected is joining Link on his adventure.
PALADIN SPELLS
1 Command, Cure Wounds, Divine Favor, Heroism, Compelled Duel, Searing Smite, Thunderous Smite, Wrathful Smite 2 Branding Smite, Find Steed, Warding Bond, Zone of Truth
After all is said and done, I hope I gave everyone a lot to work with. Of course my suggestions are not law, and if nothing else, I hope it gives you an idea of how you want to build him. Last time I built Link, I gave one set build for him, but I still laid out other options. Recently though, I’ve been trying to show multiple builds at the end of my build posts to offer a wider idea of what building a character can look like. Happy 2021 everyone, and let’s hope this year goes smoother.

For the OC ask,
6!
15!!
16!!!
!!!!!!! YAYY THANK YOU
6) What DND alignment does your OC have? good question!! Q is Lawful Good- they like helping people (Z) whenever possible but don’t like breaking the law. Coward. Z is probably somewhere between Neutral Good and Chaotic Good- they’re willing to break a rule or two but they don’t mean any harm (I have no experience with DND so I‘m not sure if this is accurate)
15) Does your OC have any medical conditions?
Q has Tourettes!! It usually only gets in the way when they’re anxious, there’s a lot of stimuli, or if something unexpected happens (like Z grabbing their hand and dragging them out the door)
Z has an auditory processing disorder! They can’t hear very well in crowded settings such as classrooms or cafeterias unless there’s only one person talking, which is why they depend so much on context clues and online learning in order to succeed like they do. They’re the kind of person who checks over homework and notes the teacher has put up after class in order to learn. (Not sure if this counts but they also have lots of scars and are constantly banged up, either from themselves from moments of frustration or not watching where they’re going)
16) Make up a headcanon about your oc as if you were not the creator. Do it. I dare you.
uhhhh Q and Z play minecraft together. Q is a farmer/miner type of person, and Z makes the most ridiculous redstone traps and builds you’ve ever seen

— OC QUESTIONS
everything for lorna so a lot of stuff
BASICS
1. What’s their full name?
Lorna Astriddottir.
2. What does their name mean? Why were they named that?
Her name doesn’t mean anything special. Just Lorna the daughter of Astrid. Regular norn stuff.
3. Do they have any nicknames?
Lorna von Kodash when she wants to sound a little more epic. She made that name up when she was a kid and didn’t even know where or what Kodash was. She read it somewhere and thought “well that sounds cool”
4. How old are they?
28 or so
5. When’s their birthday?
somewhere in winter, close after wintersday. She says she gets less presents because of that
6.What’s their zodiac sign/element/birthstone/etc.? Do they believe that holds any significance?
I don’t know much about that, so I’m gonna extend that to her and say she doesn’t really think about it.
7. What’s their species/subspecies? Do they have any special/magical abilities?
She’s a Norn, coming from a long line of Owl shamans. She thinks that is why she can’t transform, but its a little more complicated.
8. What “class” do they belong to (for fantasy characters)? If none, what weapon do they favor?
She’s a necromancer, mostly fighting with a big ass greatsword. And when I say bigass I mean it. The sword as a whole is about as tall as she is, so the blade is about 3 m long.
APPEARANCE
1. What do they look like?
Note how big that sword is? Lorna is 3 and a half metres tall (that’s 11′5′’). I hc norn to be taller than they are in game so they are a little more like giants so she isn’t astronomically taller than everyone but she is still very tall for a norn. She’s also buff as hell. She will stomp you and spit in your eyeeeeee.
have a screen
2. Do they have a face claim?
no. though I think her face ingame is pretty accurate
3. What’s their style like? Clothes, hair, makeup?
She makes a point of casually wearing plate armor to show how strong she is. The rest of the time she wears her robes from the necromancy academy. Her hair is most often braided back, though she changes the pattern often. Makeup wise... excentric and playing off her tatoos.
4. How do they carry themselves? What’s their default expression?
Lorna knows she is intimidating and she revels in the feeling. She’ll stand to her tallest, look expressionless into your eyes and watch you melt into a scared puddle under her gaze.
With friends she is a lot more relaxed though and actually laughs a lot. She still doesn’t smile much though.
5. Do they have any physical ailments or disabilities?
She sometimes accidentally turnes swearing into harmfull magic, but that’s mostly under controll now.
PERSONALITY
1.What’s their alignment?
Chaotic Good
2. Which one of the 16 Personality Types do they fit into?
No clue about those
3. What are their hobbies and interests? Do they have any particular “favorites” (food, books, and so on)?
She does enjoy hunting, usually with daggers becaues if she uses her swords it’s an unfair fight for the boar. She plays DnD with her cousins when she is staying with them and is an excellent kegbrawl player. She does read sometimes, mostly bad romance novels. The more predictable the better.
4. What are they bad at?
Cooking that is more complicated that holding something over fire. She has in her life not once produced a meal that was properly seasoned and is not allowed near the salt box.
5. What kind of things do they dislike/hate?
Jokes about her height.
6. Do they have any vices/addictions/mental illnesses?
nope
7. What are their goals and motivations?
She wants to get into complete controll of her magic swearing, but other than that she doesn’t have any big goals in life.
8. What are their manners like? Any habits?
Theoretically she knows how to act well mannered. However she elects to be obnoxious because she knows people are too afraid to tell her off.
9. What are they most afraid of?
Being alone. As much as she plays the untouchable loner she values her friends greatly.
BACKGROUND
1. Where were they born? What was their childhood like?
Lorna was born in Hoelbrak, where her parents lived most of year. Her parents died when she was very little though, and she was raised by her uncles. She spent a lot of time with the Akis and Dak’s sisters.
2. What’s their family like?
Her parents were owl devotees, by tradition from her mothers side, and her father kind of picked it up because of her mother. They were very caring until they died. Her aunts and uncles are a wild bunch. The Akis are sibling grade cousins and obviously very nice people to be around.
3. What factions or organizations are they a part of? What ranks and titles do they hold?
She’s a Scientica at the Thule Academy of Thanatology (My dad’s necromancer school rp guild) which means she is in the third semester.
In the Family Kegbrawl Team she plays as a brawler and has 14 year streak in getting the highest points for a single player.
4. How do they fit into their “story”?
Most of her personality developed through and around the academy rp. Her magic swearing for example was introduced as a reason why she would want to go there in the first place. Now that the guild isn’t active anymore she is part of my wholesome group of Akis and friends for when I want to think about happy people being happy.
5. Where do they currently live? What’s their place like?
Lorna doesn’t have a place of her own. She mostly stays with the Akis in their homestead or stays at the hunters lodge in queensdale for the school year.
6. How do they eventually die?
no plan yet
RELATIONSHIPS
1. Do they have any friends? Would they consider anyone to be their best friend?
The Akis are definitely not only family but also friends, and she is friends with a few of her classmates. You could count Era and Cap but they are more friends of friends to her.
2. What’s their friend group like? What role do they play in it?
3. What’s their love life like? (See also: ship question meme.) Do they have any kids?
no significant other, no kids.
4. Who do they look up to? Who do they trust?
Her Jotun historian great uncle who for most of her life was the coolest person she ever met, and if she hadn’t met Knut Whitebear one time.
5. Who do they hate? Do they have any enemies?
I don’t think Lorna hates any specific person, but she has a deep and powerful hatred for the svarnir because of her parents.
6. Do they have any pets?
no pets
7. Are they good with kids? Animals?
Lorna is okay with kids, others admire her for how much she can keep up with the energetic little ones without getting tired. She doesn’t particualarly enjoy it but she just can’t say no when they want to play.
With animals sually yes, though she doesn’t like animals that are close to her size or even bigger than her. She isn’t used to it finds it intimidating.
FUN FACTS
1. Which tropes do they fit? Which archetypes?
She’s the Loner that isn’t actually alone just plays that mysterious aura.
2. Do they play any instruments? Sports?
She can play drums :D And yeah as said above she is a good kegbrawl player.
3. What are some items they always carry?
She has a chak claw that is made to be a continer for life force, so that she doesn’t actively hold onto some all the time. It was the first thing she had to craft in the academy. She also carries around a small owl feather in a locket for good luck.
4. Do they collect anything?
The only thing you could say she collects are insults. She knows quite a lot of those.
5. What position do they sleep in?
Curled up because most beds are too small for her. The guest bed at the Akis’ homestead is theoretically big enough for her, but she is so used curling by now she never uses the full length.
6. Which emoji would they use the most?
😈
7. What languages do they speak?
Common, the Norns’ own language (with a pronounciation/word selection that sounds old), a bit of jotunn.
8. What’s their favorite expletive?
(I’m gonna lift this one straight from myself because it kinda fits and Lorna is a bit self inserty anyways) most used is something simple. Fuck and shit in comparable amounts. Her favourite though is “blood and ash!” (which may or may not be the expletive of choice in the wheel of time)
9. What’s their favorite candle scent?
honey
10. What songs remind you of them?
Can’t come up with one right now, but I’ve never been big on the connecting ocs with music thing.
11. Which animal would you say represents them?
You know how cats roam around alone but actually are group animals that raise their kittens together and stuff? That’s lorna.
12. What stereotypical high school clique would they fit into?
She’d be with the emos for sure.
13. What would their favorite ride at an amusement park be?
Haunted House
14. Do they believe in aliens? Ghosts? Reincarnation or something else?
Aliens and Ghosts are both a thing in tyria. I don’t know of any instance of reincarnation but our collection of immortals and sentient zombies makes up for that. So yeah she believes in those.
As for like tyrian cryptids or unprecedented and absurd supernatural happenings she isn’t big on those.
15. Do they follow any religions/gods? Do they celebrate holidays?
She’s a norn and does the norn things.
16. Which Deadly Sin do they most correspond to? Which Heavenly Virtue?
Wroth and Diligence
17. If you had to choose one tarot card to represent them, which would it be?
hmm the hermit would be the obvious one but because she doesn’t actually want to be alone I think the Stars fits even better.

unending character meme // zaya qestir
RULES: repost, don’t reblog! tag, and good luck!
TAGGED BY: tagged in spirit by @to-the-voiceless
TAGGING: any and all who want to do it but haven’t actually been tagged by anyone!
BASICS.
FULL NAME: Zaya Qestir
NICKNAME: none, really.
AGE: 29 by the end of Stormblood. 30-ish by the end of SHB? Haven’t figured out the time distortion thing.
BIRTHDAY: 17th of the 4th Umbral Moon (8/17)
ETHNIC GROUP: Au’ra; Xaelan
NATIONALITY: Nomad? From the Azim Steppe’s Reunion, if that helps.
LANGUAGE / S: Eorzean Sign Language, Xaelan (crude/unpracticed); understands most languages through use of the Echo
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Bisexual
ROMANTIC ORIENTATION: Demiromantic
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: dating Thancred Waters??? unsure of status during post-SHB but getting there.
HOME TOWN /AREA: Reunion, Azim Steppe
CURRENT HOME: A shared room in the Rising Stones or a shared house in the Mist; depends on where they are at the time of night.
PROFESSION: jeweler, weaver, gladiator of the coliseum, bard teacher (appointed reluctantly by Sanson after many a problem with Guydelot’s schedule), adventurer and warrior of light
PHYSICAL.
HAIR: Straight and somewhat below shoulder length. Most of their hair is black, but slowly changes to blue and white at the tips.
EYES: Dark blue; navy color? Light blue limbal rings that glow in the dark, too.
FACE: Sharp jawline accented by their scales, often covered with some royal blue facepaint similar to Arenvald’s own.
LIPS: Often chapped, but otherwise normal.
COMPLEXION: Ashen brown? Hard to describe bc of weird lighting everywhere they go.
BLEMISHES: None
SCARS: There’s a lot, and I might make a scar map at some point??? Major ones happen to be their legs and their left arm; the legs from Ifrit and the arm from Elidibus in Zenos’s body in 4.5
TATTOOS: None, no matter how much people think the facepaint is one.
HEIGHT: Taller than the average Au’ra, about 5’4
WEIGHT: about 135 pounds
BUILD: Muscular, especially due to their main fighting style requiring muscle literally everywhere. Fistfighting for money is no small feat.
FEATURES: Their scales are an odd color (think black and blue borealis dice, but as scales), and their horns definitely look a bit… ragged. Watching them fight will give the odd realization that lightning sparks in cobalt blue come off of them sometimes.
ALLERGIES: Some undetermined fish allergy. Higiri fed them some assorted sushi once and never did again, so the Scions (and themselves) have no clue what fish they need to avoid.
USUAL HAIRSTYLE: Tied into a loose ponytail at the back. Sanson often comments how they share a hairstyle, but it’s simply from need of clear vision when moving around for monk skills and attacks.
USUAL FACE LOOK: Stoic as all hell. Not used to making full-on facial expressions outside of conversation, so normally looks bored.
USUAL CLOTHING: Tabards, cyclas, or generally something with flowy fabric that doesn’t restrain movement all that much. Metal boots and gauntlets/knuckles are also common, but not always.
PSYCHOLOGY.
FEAR / S: being the last one standing, change, losing their younger siblings/younger friends, spiders, breaking a promise with their mother.
ASPIRATION / S: To have a proper adventure, and to inspire others to live their fullest lives.
POSITIVE TRAITS: Devoted, comforting, slightly protective, carefree
NEGATIVE TRAITS: Easily angered, impulsive, emotional, stubborn
MBTI: ISFP-T (Adventurer)
ZODIAC: Leo, apparently? Sort of fits, if you look at it closely.
TEMPERAMENT: Some crazy blend between phlegmatic and choleric? Generally carefree and easygoing with friends and willing to spend a lot of patience on them, but unrelenting and downright frightening in serious situations, especially when involving Garlemald.
SOUL TYPE / S: Server/Caregiver
ANIMALS: Birds and dogs.
VICE HABIT / S: Drinking, although the Echo does prevent it from having any effect whatsoever, so its more of a taste thing? Tends to sleep a lot when stressed, and often spends their leftover money on gemstones for their shared collection.
FAITH: Polytheistic; the Twelve and Nhaama are gods they generally believe in.
GHOSTS?: Yes, mainly because they’ve seen one.
AFTERLIFE?: Yes.
REINCARNATION?: Probably, with how they’re sure they’ve seen someone who was supposed to be dead before
ALIENS?: before becoming Warrior of Light, it would be no, but with the revelation of Elidibus on the moon and Midgardsormr and OMEGA (ALIEN ROBOT????) they aren’t so sure anymore.
POLITICAL ALIGNMENT: Does not care enough even though they are staunch friends with Nanamo. Didn’t care enough to try and challenge Oktai for the seat of Qestiri Khatun, certainly doesn’t care enough to take a political stance in Eorzea.
EDUCATION LEVEL: Barely any; just enough to read letters written in Eorzean and faintly Ishgardian (courtesy of Alphinaud and Haurchefant).
FAMILY.
FATHER: there was one, once, but he’d rather he be forgotten in pursuit of a happier future. Zaya remembers him as Baatar, but they don’t remember if that was actually his name.
MOTHERS: Erhi, Odgerel.
SIBLINGS: Oktai (older brother), Taban (older sister), Sarnai (sister), Delger and Tuya (fraternal twins)
EXTENDED FAMILY: any of the Scions (former or current) or their fellow Warriors of Light, if we’re talking found family. House Fortemps, Aymeric, Estinien, Sanson, Guydelot, Sidurgu, Rielle, and all of the Qestiri tribe are up there too, but you know, that’s kind of a lot of gifts to be sending around during Starlight. (zaya totally sends them all gifts anyways.)
NAME MEANING /S: Zaya means fate in Mongolian, which all of the other Xaelan names seem to be based on. Their previous name, Dzoldzaya, meant light of fate.
HISTORICAL CONNECTION?: Recorded history on the Azim Steppe is easily lost, but if asking around the different tribes, one could learn about a rather prominent Qestiri warrior whose image is painted in some of the caverns nearby where much of important, unforgettable Xaelan history is recorded by the Gharl, swathed in blue cloth. In the days of Amaurot, there was one standout Amaurotine who shared a love for lightning and birds…
FAVORITES.
BOOK: They don’t know enough Eorzean to read a full book, not even a children’s book. The Echo doesn’t help with reading. Urianger has read a book of myths and legends that turned out to be true to them, however, and that has been their favorite for a while. They’ve been considering asking him to read more for them, but that’s been placed on hold after the events of the First and following Mt. Gulg.
DEITY: Nhaama, or Rhalgr, if talking to someone who thinks ‘what’s a Nhaama’ when they mention her.
HOLIDAY: Starlight Celebration. Something about the festive mood always makes them happy.
MONTH: August (4th Umbral Moon)
SEASON: Summer
PLACE: On the Source, Reunion in the Azim Steppe just because interacting with other tribes is rather fun. On the First, Il Mheg all the way!
WEATHER: Clear nights where they can trace the constellations, but it isn’t too cold to need a blanket.
SOUND / S: Excited chatter, harp, singing, small hammers clinking against metal.
SCENT /S: Rain, fresh wood, the air in Gridania, light perfume, Syhrwyda’s food.
TASTE /S: Snurbleberry, honey, most Doman seafood, buuz.
FEEL /S: Soft and smooth fabrics, cold metal, the grip of someone’s hand around theirs, wind blowing through their hair on a warm day.
ANIMAL /S: Yol, chocobo (birds!).
NUMBER: 17, for their nameday and the first year they spent in Eorzea
COLORS: Cobalt blue and indigo, pale gold, soot black.
EXTRA.
TALENTS: Extremely good when working with cloth or metal; even more so when tinkering little trinkets. Interestingly enough, very good at playing flute and harp without much practice. Expert at pulling a person’s true emotions out with simply body language.
BAD AT: Sneaking around/stealth. Do not, under any circumstance, give them a job involving secrecy or stealth unless you want it to fail. Speaking/reading is also pretty horrible, due to how they were raised. Also bad at taking change or lies well.
TURN-ONS: Loyalty, bravery despite all odds, kindness and love even when it would be easier to be otherwise, being able to understand other beliefs, and a love of freedom or new experiences
TURN OFFS: Lying to their face knowingly, extreme greed, lack of self-worth, anger for no good reason
HOBBIES: making music with Guydelot and Sanson, attempting to keep a journal, idle tinkering, dancing, gardening
TROPES: Good is Not Soft, Hope Bringer, Magnetic Hero, Omniglot, The Power of Friendship, The Quiet One, Silent Snarker, Dark is Not Evil, Five Stages of Grief, Horrifying Hero, Magic Music, Warrior Poet, Dance Battler, Warrior Monk, Determinator, Pintsized Powerhouse, Pragmatic Hero (don’t let me stay on TVtropes pls)
QUOTES: have a snippet of some writing?
Scrawled onto a piece of paper underneath his arm in Thancred’s handwriting and marked with Zaya’s name reads, “Your words, no matter how I react, do not change how I love you all.”
MUN QUESTIONS.
Q1: If you could write your character your way in their own movie, what would it be called, what style would it be filmed in, and what would it be about?
A1: Honestly, I think there would be two movies that could include Zaya; some comedy musical revolving around Zaya’s bard lifestyle while placing their active lifestyle in the background (called “A Bard Knock Life” bc i think puns are cool) or an action drama framed around Zaya and the Scions living some sort of high fantasy/DND type adventure bc I love that stuff called “The Unbroken Thread”. (THAT QUEST NAME STILL GETS ME)
Q2: What would their soundtrack/score sound like?
A2: Something featuring a flute, probably. I got attached to Zaya playing the flute being a former flute player myself. (I only wish the oboe performance sound bank clicked with me a little more…)
Q3: Why did you start writing this character?
A3: Originally, Zaya wasn’t meant to exist. I was literally planning on just creating A’dewah, Syhrwyda, and maybe Lumelle and Elwin in different roles. Then the Au’ra came out; I used my free Fantasia from the sub rewards just to be an Au’ra (I was a miqo’te before; shh, i was still babu who liked cats) and suddenly Zaya started being formed as Menphina Jewel. Before I knew it, that Menphina Jewel grew a whole backstory and a new name and new friends (Azim Steppe arc of Stormblood MSQ? Final nail in the coffin.) that slowly took over the previous two Warriors as the focus of my attention. I wasn’t even supposed to keep playing FFXIV past HW, dude. I had like a million other things to be doing at the time, but here I am, lying in my grave 3 years later still attached.
Q4: What first attracted you to this character?
A4: They’re (mostly) mute. I really wanted to explore what it’s like to not be able to talk and only converse in body language, but then I discovered that might be a problem, so my interest in sign language collided with Zaya’s backstory. It also helps me work out a personality without them sounding/looking too much like what I think is Basic Story ProtagTM like I tend to do on accident (see A’dewah and Valdis’s dialogue sometimes.)
Q5: Describe the biggest thing you dislike about your muse.
A5: They can’t really speak. Funny how the thing I like most is also the thing I hate most. It’s very frustrating when I want them to convey something and then they can’t without using actual words and a voice because I haven’t got a clue on how to convey that through body language. How in the world do you convey ‘I feel like I’m doing arcanist calculations when you speak’ in nonverbal language??? I have no damn idea and every attempt looks like I meant something else.
Q6: What do you have in common with your muse?
A6: The snark, man. I have friends constantly commenting on how I’ve made a burn without me realizing I’ve done so, and it’s hilarious. The love for music also carried over big time, especially after discovering how fun the bard NPCs were to write and how they’d fit into Zaya’s relationship web. (they’re totally the more comedic side, but I love Guydelot and Sanson anyways.)
Q7: How does your muse feel about you?
A7: No clue, dude. Maybe thinks I’m boring? I don’t tend to want to drastically change things or look for new adventures; the biggest leap I’ve taken in two years is probably changing to a reed instrument from flute, and even then I don’t have to change key when I read music, so it’s not that big a deal.
Q8: What characters does your muse have interesting interactions with?
A8: Urianger and Lyse, maybe? I like the exploration of repairing relationships after something that might have ended another, weaker bond. It’s also kinda fun trying to see how Zaya would react; they’re a lot more rash than I am in real life, and that’s honestly saying something. Alisaie and Alphinaud, however, are the most fun just because I know what I’m doing when I write them, and it’s funny to see how Zaya reacts (or has a lack of reaction) to their dynamic. Guydelot and Sanson fall into another category of ‘dear god I simultaneously love and hate these two’, while Thancred, Y’shtola, Urianger, Syhrwyda, Duscha, and Ryne fall into some sort of strong found family vibes that just get me everytime I think about it
Q9: What gives you inspiration to write your muse?
A9:…Doing job quests or side story quests or even MSQ I haven’t caught up on yet. Watch as I slowly rewrite as many MSQ and job quest scenes as I can in any of my Warrior of Light’s viewpoints. (currently chiseling away at some backstory/before they were Warriors stories after reading too deep into the race/subrace text and lore keep an eye out LOL-)
Q10: How long did this take you to complete?
A10: A day or two; don’t remember when I began. It was probably when I was procrastinating on homework, though. I didn’t post it until a week later whoops.

Okay since you were so amazing asking about Jimjon, do you have any dnd characters? If so, 4, 5, and 16 might be nice!
ADJJSDDSJ OK so I’ve literally only played DnD ONCE in my entire life (and that campaign didn’t even get finished bc we played it at school during lunch hours RIGHT BEFORE finals started..)
So I have Exactly One (1) DnD character: Dell Goodbarrow, my Halfling Cleric who got shipped off to Hero School™ by her parents in order to gain a bit more “worldly experience” (and also spread the word of Pholtus, her patron deity)
She’s less of a “traditional”, LotR-style hobbit and more of a weird fuzzy hamster-person–complete w cheek pouches for holding Extra Snacks–kitted out in Full scale armor w a Family Heirloom warhammer that she’ll gladly use on evildoers and people who make fun of her height.
Also she’s kind of a furry and spent her Last Ever session hitting on a wolf girl NPC who was escorting her sfdghfkdfghj
4. What’s your OC’s response to being asked for money by a homeless person?
You bet your sweet bippy Dell is rooting through her pockets for her coin purse..she can’t Not help people even if it sets her back a few gold pieces
5. Does your OC get lost easily? What do they do when they do get lost?
I like to think that Dell can find her way indoors Really well, in large buildings like her academy (fitting for a race that lives in subterranean burrows), but put her outside in an unfamiliar and she’ll have no fuckin clue what to do. Expect lots of frantically retracing steps and wandering back and forth in a panic fsdjd
16. How strong or weak is your OC’s Impulse control? What’s the worst thing that happened becuase of thier Impulsivity or inability to be so?
Dell is uh. Also Very Low on impulse control (kind of a running theme w my OCs sdjghjdfh) She once Ran in and cracked a dude who was threatening to rob us in the kneecaps w her warhammer, which is. still one of her greatest moments imo
Also Idk how much this counts as “impulsive”, but…it’s funny so i wanna share: During our second or so session(?), there was a point where the party (made up of 90% Newbies, including my best friend @boopasnoops and I) came across a band of thieves camping in the middle of the woods, all sound asleep. so naturally we started murdering all of them…and I (as Dell), eager to Help in some way that wasn’t just More Murder, enthusiastically offered to search the dead bodies for loot, only to be told by our (also very much a Newbie) DM that that kiiind of goes against my whole alignment as a Cleric, so Dell Very Sheepishly resigned herself to bashing Bandits’ heads in like a Nice, Well-Behaved Lawful Good PC Should.
(That was when I first realized I’d probably be better suited to playing Chaotic Good characters sdjgfj)
(OC asks that helped me with characterization!)
#my OCs#DnD#Dell Goodbarrow#asks#ask meme anything#thank you!!#I haven't thought abt Dell in literal AGES adskdjdf#I don't even have her character sheet anymore#thewiglesswonder#...Dell kind of Sucked at being a cleric tbh#she attempted to heal a partymate Once and failed

5, 7, 10, 15-18
since this doesnt have a character specified im gonna take it as an invitation to just answer for all of them fdjkfdgjkdf
5. what is their zodiac sign?
arden would be a pisces, as already established
ive said once that hania was a scorpio but im beginning to think she might be an aries. or maybe she’s just got a powerful aries rising
robin would prob be ... a capricorn? maybe?? that sounds right
7. what is their dnd alignment?
i said once that arden was chaotic good, but now i think maybe they’re actually just neutral good. still not sure tho
hania is chaotic neutral
and i wanna say lawful neutral for robin? just not like. actual laws fjksdfd they have their own sort of System of what’s ok to do and what isn’t
10. are they a leader or a follower?
arden is a follower
hania says she’s a leader, and largely appears to be, but secretly prefers (and is better at) following
robin is 100% a leader
15. what is their greatest flaw?
i think maybe like .. martyrdom for arden? is that the right word? just like, he tends to make big decisions about what information to share and what to keep and what needs to be done without including anyone else because he’s already convinced himself that he knows best and everyone else is better off without him. thats a fairly universal sidestep mood but i think it’s like Particularly Exaggerated for arden
just answered for hania
and i wanna say like .. apathy for robin? like in a lot of ways they’re an incredibly empathetic person, but then they kinda run out of Emotion Juice and everything just starts being meaningless and disposable to them
16. what is their best virtue?
compassion for arden. despite everything, arden cares incredibly deeply, even if they probably wouldn’t admit it. they care about people and life and their friends and allies and even if they don’t believe it’s possible, they want a happy ending for as many people as possible
also just answered for hania djfkdfjk same link as before
and i think like .. patience for robin? which sounds lame, but that’s the best way i know how to describe it djksffjkd like they’re good at biding their time and giving others space and waiting for things to fall into place
17. what is their ultimate goal?
in terms of The Grand Plan, for arden the goal is to get the truth out there, so that the farm can’t pull their shit anymore, and so arden can maybe stop lying to everyone he knows. but more generally, arden just wants to live quietly. like, they just want an apartment and a dog and maybe for ortega to also be there if he still wants to when all of this is over. arden is Tired and just wants for things to be Calm
i honestly don’t think hania has any clue what her ultimate goal is, right now she’s just angry and lashing out at the biggest target she can find
robin doesn’t really have a goal, bc they’re in Full Apathy Mode. like they’re just kinda going through the motions of villainy and revenge in the hopes that maybe at some point things will start to make sense and they’ll know what their goal is
18. what is their greatest fear?
arden’s greatest fear is the farm, honestly. like he wouldn’t be doing what he’s doing if he wasn’t constantly terrified that they’ll find him
hania’s is vulnerability in pretty much every sense of the word. whether that’s vulnerability to the farm, to her friends, to herself, she just can’t stand the feeling of being exposed--whether emotionally or physically
robin’s greatest fear is not being real, which is fueled nicely by their apathy. they’re terrified that someday someone’s finally gonna expose them for what they are and prove once and for all that whatever humanity they think they might’ve felt is fake

wow mun's actually making a post woh
And I'll be honest? I have no clue if I'll be able to keep up with this. Might do art if the stars align and they serve potatos in every school in Wisconsin. But I'll make an attempt at an official-ish first post for a blog that will never have formatting because I refuse to use anything besides mobile tumblr and have resigned to suffering as such.
That being said, I guess the url still technically says 'mysterytalerp' so that might still happen, but I'm giving the four people who know I exist some more nerds to ask questions. Even though three of them are kind of the same person, one of them is two people, and only one of them is technically a fully original character. Sort of.
But hey, choices! Going left to right, we have...
Winston. He likely doesn't want to be here, but he works at the front desk. Might have gotten bitten by a zombie once and has gotten both a chewing habit and even more sanitation-related paranoia than he already had. Would really rather you call him G, but... well, it doesn't matter quite as much here.
Rouxls. Specifically theatre kids Rouxls, TK!Rouxls, a majority of people just call him Rouxls. He hasn't really met any other... himselfs yet, so the multiverse is sort of new, and he's honestly not getting the best first impression.
Gaster. Mysterytale!Gaster, MG, Magnesium, Wings, he'll give you one of a dozen nicknames. Definitely more a veteran of the multiverse, and not a big fan of it, likely because it keeps trying to murder him. Also prone to shapeshifting and rambling about magic for hours on end. Please let him ramble. Please let mun write him rambling. Mun will write essays of rambling.
Koriel! She... is a wizard. And an elf. And a mild pyromaniac, despite specializing in transmutation. And from a DnD campaign. Pretty darn attatched to her party, maybe just... slightly impulsive. Slightly.
And finally, Chaster. Chaster is... technically the exact same person as MG, but in the future? Past? You'd have to ask him. He's also... not MG though. Because he's two people.
And what, might you ask, had I not answered it directly in this post for convenience sake, is the connection between all of these characters, beyond the instincuptual need the mun has to cause them suffering and their undeniable need for hugs? Though it is weird that you'd know that considering that I haven't posted anything in months, I'll tell you.
I threw them all at the Island.
You know, the discord server with the cool art a couple posts back.
...Except Koriel, who has a feather fall ring and is very hard to throw effectively. And technically isn't there yet. But you know, eventually.
Now go forth and invade their private life with questions! ...Or tell me how to make a better introduction. Either or.
#ask blog#rouxls#tk!rouxls#Winston 'G'#Mysterytale!Gaster#mt!gaster#koriel#The Island#muse suffering#Y'all gonna have to advise me on this tagging thing btw#i have absolutely no idea what i'm doing here#so any critique or suggestion would be neato#it's called the wave campaign because every time they meet a new person or thing that could be a person#at least a third of the party waves at them#and it's great#i also continually forget what the universe winston's from is called but oh well#might have to ask some people for help with chaster for reasons eventually though#*stares at one of my four followers*#if you don't know exactly what I'm talking about you're fine and i'm not staring at you#but hearing only one side of a conversation is more fun ain't it#i shouldn't be doing this at 11 but i'm not gonna do this when i have good decision making skills
