Kalego must be the most angry, post Heartbreaker arc. His brother let two suspicious people enter Babyls under recommendation.

Kalego didn't really have any way to think that they would be dangerous for the kids, even Balam didn't see anything really wrong, even if he must have knew that something was wrong, and he must have shared his thoughts with his best friend.

But Kalego trusted his brother's words, why shouldn't he did it? It's his brother and they seems to have a good relationship (unlike his relaiton with his uncle). Family seems to be important for demons after all.

and then, not only one of the teachers RECOMMANDED by his big brother tried to kill EIGHT students (Sabro, more or less + thetwo first years with him + Allocer + the four first years with him) but he also tried to kidnap Iruma. It's only by chance that all of them are still safe.

because right now, Kalego has two face two possibilities.

1) his brother didn't knew. and it's a big error of judgement who could have had big consequences. And so Kalego will have one or two words to say about it. Even if Narnia didn't know, Kalego's trust into him must have been damaged. Because next time, who know what could happen? Kalego will NEVER forget or forgive that.

2) Narnia KNEW. Let one (two?) suspicious and dangerous "teachers" enter to Babyls and then he's a accomplice. And so he's potentially a traitor and Kalego must comfort him to have few words with him and have a explanation.

Nothing matters more for Kalego than his students safety. And here 8 students could have been killed (or seven + a return to origin) and Iruma could have been kidnapped. Three of his students suffered, and are likely more or less traumatised (ok 5 students with Jazz because of Mabras Sensei, and Gaomon being depressed because his true face has been seen).

Because he trusted his brother, and he trusted his brother's recommandation for Atori and Shiida without too much doubts. Balam told him that they didn't lie but that they should keep a eye on them.

He must feel betrayed. He must be angry. Because either his brother has been terribly negligent and didn't honor his position, either he's a traitor who work for the same person than Atori, the person who has attacked the school under Kalego's protection and who has hurt students.

Opera can be mad at him, but it's probably nothing compared to how much mad at himself Kalego must be to have trusted his brother without doubts and to have let that happen. and he must be so much mad at his brother, considering that he's visibly ready to BITE and has a "smile" when he says "yeah yeah i promise that i will not provoke troubles"

After rereading multiple times I've come to the conclusion that kalego's relationship with his brother is vague

Very vague, that i cant comment about how it could affect kalego's feelings towards what atori did. Like their are instances that lead me to believe their relationship isn't that great, but at the same time he's talking very neutrally about him

Kalego went to his uncles help before going to his brother, and the face kalego did when he heard his brother could become one of the 13 crowns

These are signs that could have perfectly good explanation other than kalego having problems with his brother, but since there are no concrete evidence of what their relationship is like, I'll just skip kalego's brother for now until more is revealed

About the clusterfuck that could also be called the heartbreaker event.

This event wasn't made to help the students. It was made to destroy the misfits. Some teachers took that job too literally (looking at you, robin and Mabras) they themselves admitted that they were doing this event to crush their pride. teaching them a lesson was considered a bonus, but was not the main objective.

So after they've stated that, they decided that it'd be a good idea to let the newbies participate

I dont care what excuse they have. That was a recipe for disaster from the start

Oh! They were recommended by the patrol, specifically kalego's brother? How cute. I didn't know that one of the patrol's job was to train teacher and send them to babyl's school.

Can the patrol ensure that these people know the basics of teaching? That they know that these students have limits? Do these new teachers know when pushing students beyond their limits suddenly become putting students in unnecessary danger?

I think not

And on top of that, did any of the teachers even tried to see what the newbies are like in a fight? Ya know, to make sure that these teachers know what's ok and what's not?

Do you even know what those newbies abilities are? Other than shiida can kick people? Not knowing their abilities is very bad, because being surprised by their abilities in the middle of the exam sounds like a very bad idea. Their ability could be making people explode for all they know!

Oh, but of course no teacher in their right mind would use such a dangerous ability around their students

These are not teachers. These are people who are still learning to become teachers, and they're against students who are actively attacking them. They were bound to use their abilities at one point, especially since they're against the misfits

And lets say that shiida's ability is brute force. They don't know whether shiida is aware that she can't use a lot of force with everyone in the misfits. There are only 5 out of 13 students who know how to fight(excluding first years because these are first years. They shouldn't be dragged into this shit in their first month)

So, their abilities is one unknown variable, their fighting skills is another unknown variable, their moral standards is questioned by balam, and they have zero teaching experience. Pairing them, unsupervised, to the misfits, a class that is as predictable as the weather (not predictable at all) is just asking for a disaster to happen. You can't make a physical exam for students without ensuring that everything will go as planned. Not knowing anything, no matter how small could cost a students life.

And it almost did

It was very careless of them to believe that no matter what they'll be nearby and able to help. And the evidence to that are the students who almost died. The students that had to stay in the infirmary.

Kalego is mad at himself? Good. They all should be. So next time they won't make the same mistake. So next time they know not to trust the judgement of someone who's not a teacher. So next time no student's life is on the line.

Because next time they may have to deal with a student's death

I will have no sympathy towards them regarding this event until one of them at least one teacher acknowledges that what has happened was due to their own shortcomings. But until now, only opera has said that, and it wasn't his job at the time to look over the school.

And now that my feelings over the heartbreaker has been refreshed, I can confidently say: Narnia, you're on thin fucking ice

So Michael, your partner said you´re kinda grumpy today - why is that? Did you got a bill today or something? I´m just asking because my older brother Drayton is also very grumpy and it´s always the worst when the electricity or water bill arrives. Me, my wife and my other two brothers are always trying our best to avoid him during these moments - we don´t wanna get beaten up with the broom, you know?😰

Anyways, maybe you should go on a walk or something, it´s fun and it will surely improve your mood. Just spend some time outside and watch some wild animals - maybe take some pictures. 📸 Also, if there´s a graveyard or a slaughterhouse near where you live, I would recommand that you pay that place a visit. You know, the slaughterhouse is great to distract yourself from any problems you might have and the graveyard is just the perfect place if you need to think about something.

What You Can Do

Sooo a long time ago, @mustardyellowsunshine​ said on one of her podcast episodes that she’d like me to write something about Inuyasha finding out what happened to Kagome with Mukotsu, and I’m here to (finally) deliver! I do want to say that I was hesitant about it because it was brilliantly done in Little by Little, so if you want to read a different take on that, I do advise taking a look at it!

(Also, I totally recommand listening to the podcast over at @dogboycast​! They’re all entertaining and a great listen, and I particularly like the episodes on Kikyo and Buddhism/reincarnation/cultural context)

Warning: mentions of attempted rape/sexual assault. Nothing happens during the one-shot but that’s what’s discussed here. So I won’t be doing my usual tagging list in case anyone doesn’t want to read about it.

Inuyasha had promised himself a long time ago, as his mother was buried, minutes before he was hunted out of the castle where he used to live with her, that he would never let himself feel powerless again. It wouldn’t matter how much pain he had to endure, it wouldn’t matter what he would have to break to get there. He would never feel like that again.

Of course, there was no way for him to keep that promise. He had felt powerless time and time again. Every new moon. When he had watched Kikyo die. When Kagome had been taken away from him and he had thought he might not ever see her again. But since her return, well, things had been pretty calm, and he had thought — he had hoped — that perhaps he was finally done with it.

He knew it was naive. Him, of all people, knew better than to expect fucking anything from life.

And watching Kagome’s expressionless face right now was making him feel the most powerless he had in years.

It hadn’t been much, technically. He had overheard a couple of merchants talking crudely, to say the least, about things that they’d like to do to Kagome, and about how anyway, considering what she was fucking she had no room to refuse them.

So naturally, he had done the only sensible thing, in that he had pulled out Tessaiga and, after scaring the shit out of them, had given them a reasonable beating — reasonable given what they were saying, that is. Then, of course, Kagome had come out of thin air and had interrupted him.

“Inuyasha,” she’d scolded, her tone tired rather than angry, “you can’t keep doing that.”

“Had a good reason,” he replied through gritted teeth. He didn’t want to give too many details on what exactly had just happened. The things she was exposing herself to by simply being with him… That terrified him. Disgusted him, too, and he couldn’t do anything about it. Except leaving her, which wasn’t a better solution.

“And what was that good reason?” she asked, rolling her eyes as the merchants escaped.

He glared at the two figures. Somehow, watching people running away from him just brought his instincts out. He wanted them dead.

“Inuyasha?”

Yeah. That’d have to wait.

“Were saying some nasty shit about you,” he said with an uncomfortable shrug.

Kagome rolled her eyes.

“I told you before, I don’t care about that, and I don’t want you to be fighting for me. I can do it myself if I need to.”

He should have left it there. He usually did. He admitted he was wrong, said sorry, and went pouting in the forest until she met him at the bottom of the Goshinboku, generally with some food. His resolve never lasted long, and the cycle repeated fairly regularly. But today, the things they’d been saying… Today, he had felt scared. And he probably should have kept that fear  to himself, but some part of him thought that maybe it would be better if she was prepared. That way, she could make the choice to leave him.

“You don’t know what they were saying, Kagome,” he said instead. “’s probably better, too,” he admitted immediately, ears drooping, expecting questions and refusing to let her know, already changing his mind. He was scared. He didn’t want her to be.

This time though, she looked exasperated. Usually, he kinda liked it when she did. The way she frowned, the way she pouted, the way it often ended with a kiss…  But there was no room in this interaction for him to enjoy what was happening.

“Do you really think I don’t know what they’re saying?”

Air left his lungs, like she had punched him in the stomach. His mouth opened and closed, and usually, Kagome would have noticed, would have slowed down, would have stopped herself, but this time she was looking away from him.

“It’s not exactly new either, Inuyasha. It happened when I went to school, when I was in town, when I was in the subway… I can’t say I’m surprised it’s happening here too.”

He felt utterly disgusted at himself when relief flooded through his veins and he could breathe again. She wasn’t talking about him.

“That can’t be right,” he mumbled. She had never talked about it before. He could have taken care of it.

A joyless laugh escaped her lips, and he gritted his teeth as his ears flattened against his head. He loved her laugh. It was his favorite sound in the world, the sound he tried to store in his mind every time he heard it, the sound he had missed for three long years. This wasn’t it. This was unpleasant, full of bitterness, and the thought that she had that in her… was horrible.

“You know it is, Inuyasha,” and again, it was like she had hit him. “We’ve run into bandits, you know how they talked about me and Sango. And other people…” She shrugged. “They’re not that different.”

“Yeah, but…” But he’d always been here when that had happened. He’d always been by her side, he’d always protected her — or, well, he’d thought so. He didn’t have the slightest idea about the things that had happened in her time, and that was a horrifying thought. What other things didn’t he know about? “…but you’re okay, right?”

Her expression changed. It was barely noticeable, and yet he couldn’t possibly miss it. Her lips formed a straight line. She certainly wasn’t smiling, but she wasn’t pouting either. She stopped frowning, and there was nothing on her face that showed any emotions. Even her eyes were empty. It was like a door closing between her and the world.

“It’s fine. I just have to be prepared for it.”

Prepared. Always. Every single second of her life, bracing herself for what she learned the hard way can happen.

“That ain’t an answer.”

She closed her eyes.

“Leave it, Inuyasha.”

He winced at that.

“I just wanna know if you’re okay.”

It was the softest, the quietest his voice had ever been, and Kagome… simply couldn’t ignore it.

“You remember Mukotsu?”

How could he forget? He’d thought— He’d thought it was all over. Thought he’d lost her, lost his friends, lost everything. Never had Kikyo’s proposition been more tempting than it was at that moment. Finishing what he’d started and leaving everything else behind.

“Bastard who poisoned you.”

“That’s right. Well he also… wanted to make…” She struggled to talk, struggled to find the right words to describe it. “…a good memory before he killed me. Nothing— nothing happened, thankfully, but— It got close enough.” His exact words, too. Maybe his way of downplaying his actions; she couldn’t be sure. Comfortably silent on what he actually meant by it. Ignoring his hands lingering on her body, ignoring the things that would have happened if she hadn’t defended herself and if Sango and Miroku hadn’t arrived, ignoring the way he’d hit her when she had dared to defend herself.

“A good—”

Inuyasha didn’t know what was taking him so long. This shouldn’t have been hard to process. In fact, he should have known where this was going the second she had said that name. But he was being especially slow. That shit happened, sure, but not to Kagome. There was no way he’d have let that happen. There was no way she wouldn’t have told him about it.

“That’s— Fuck—”

She remained silent, watching him with empty eyes, and he died inside a little more.

“Fuck, Kagome, I’m so fucking— I shouldn’t have let that happen.”

She briefly bit the inside of her cheek, the dim pain a welcome distraction, then shook her head.

“No offense, Inuyasha, but this isn’t about you.”

Nah, that wasn’t what he’d tried to— Ah, fuck. He just wanted someone to blame for what had happened to her, someone he could take down. Since Sesshomaru had killed Mukotsu and the Seven Mercenaries had been dead for a long time now, there was nothing he could do there. Sure, he could blame himself for it now, but what good would it do?

“Why didn’t ya tell me?”

She pursed her lips.

“Why would I tell you?”

“Because— Fuck, Kagome, if some bastard does something like this to you, I—”

“Mukotsu’s dead. You just beat up those two men. What else do you want?”

Some deeply buried part of her knew it didn’t make sense. She knew Inuyasha cared for her, loved her, and of course he’d want to know about it. But the idea of him wanting to kill people about it? This wasn’t about her. It was about him. And maybe it was wrong of her, but for this in particular, she needed him to make it about her.

Inuyasha stared at her in silence. At the way her shoulders were shaking slightly, at her set expression. Hurt was slowly spreading through him at the thought that she wouldn’t tell him, but he fought it with everything he had. Not now. He wasn’t backing out of this just yet, when Kagome was so obviously hurt.

“I wanna know,” he repeated stubbornly. “I wanna do— anything I can do to help.” He was pretty clueless as to what that was exactly, but fuck that. He refused to abandon her.

Her tense body relaxed.

“There’s nothing to do,” she replied in a whisper. “I just have to know. It can happen.” Even more importantly for the demeaning, insulting words he’d heard, because those were so terribly common. She just had to be prepared every step of the way.

“But that ain’t right,” he protested, and it was childish, and it was unlike him, because he knew that there wasn’t much in the world that was right, but he couldn’t let it go. “You shouldn’t have to—”

“If I’m not, it’s going to— to impact me every single time,” she said, hammering the last words through her teeth. “Just look at what happened when we met Miroku for the first time, when we met Koga. I’m stronger now, but there will always be a risk that this will keep happening. I have to be prepared.”

He took a step towards her. She lifted her chin almost defiantly, daring him to tell him otherwise with tears in her eyes, ready to spill. And the truth was, he couldn’t. He didn’t want her to have to go through that, but he had lived the majority of his life behaving exactly like that. It fucking sucked that she had to go through it, and he knew now that it wasn’t the best way to deal with things. Yet he didn’t know how to tell her any of that.

“I get it,” he conceded with some difficulty. “Just— ya know nothing ‘bout this is okay, right?”

Again, she shrugged.

“It’s not like anything happened. The things I went through, they’re— they’re okay. It could have been worse, and it wasn’t. It’s not that bad.”

She knew the stories of girls in the village, even of girls at her school. What had happened to her couldn’t possibly compare. That was merely a bump in the road, and if it was ‘not okay’, why did it happen over and over again? Why didn’t anyone do anything about it? What did it make the worse things that happen? It was— It was fine.

“That’s bullshit,” Inuyasha answered bluntly. “You’re the one who taught me that, right? If it makes ya feel bad, it matters. ’s important. And if— if something happens to ya, I want to know ‘bout it. I want to help. If ya don’t want me to beat the guy up, I guess I can live with that. Just— I need ya to talk to me, Kagome, ‘kay?”

He reached out to caress her cheek gently, and Kagome broke down at the contact. Tears were flowing freely as she grabbed his hand to press it against her skin. Her tears made him just as uncomfortable as ever, but Inuyasha didn’t say anything. He wrapped his arms around her, bringing her close, and kissed the top of her head as he engulfed her completely in his embrace. He wanted her to feel safe. If not every time she stepped outside of their house, at least now. He wanted to give her whatever relief she could have.

“If ya want me to beat Koga and Miroku up, I can, though,” he said when he felt her tears calming down. “Y’know it’d make me happy.”

She laughed through her sobs, protesting lightly, and it made him feel weirdly proud. He wasn’t exactly good at making people laugh, nor at making people feel better, but for her, he’d try.

“Thanks,” she mumbled in his chest.

“Anytime.”

And he meant it. Anytime, any place, in whatever way she needed him. He would be there for her. Even if it made him feel the most powerless he ever had to hear her sob in his arms.

Anything for her.

Chapter Thirty Six - Health Benefits 

You were a mess and you knew it. You also knew that while The Professor could help you with his telepathic abilities, he couldn’t help you with the actual shitshow that was your brain. That was on you. So you made the very adult decision to get professional help.

The therapist Tony and Pepper had found for you had been great at helping you settle into normal life but she wasn’t the right person for the job any-more. You needed someone with at least a basic understanding of what you were capable of. So begrudgingly you called Fury and asked for his help. The amount of Agents he must have had to get seen by a psychiatrist meant he actually did have a recommendation for you and after calling the number Maria Hill had forwarded to you and explaining who you were, you got an appointment that very evening.

You didn’t want anyone else to know about this but sneaking out hadn’t been an option so you blackmailed Thor into taking you, promising not to tell anyone about the Black cat he had snuck into the compound earlier that week.

You sat down on a sofa that was far more comfortable than it looked and let your eyes flit across the room, taking it in. It was a large office that was more library than anything else. The whole room was dark oaks and books. So many books. You tried not to fidget as you waited for Doctor Leonard Samson to arrive but after about 12 seconds you failed miserably and your leg started bouncing. Finally you heard a small commotion outside the office as the Doctor arrived and he opened the door.

Your breath hitched in your chest audibly as you caught your first glimpse of him. He was absolutely enormous, probably the most muscular human being you had ever seen in your life. He was closer to seven feet tall than six and his arms were bigger than your entire torso, his biceps looked like they were straining to escape the short sleeved t-shirt he was wearing.

You finally ripped your eyes away from his body and looked up at his face, he had shoulder length hair and a sharp, menacing looking face. Though it was a very handsome face you admitted begrudgingly. His eyes were dark and warm, brimming with intelligence.

To say you were intimidated was an understatement. Nothing like being in close quarters with a man who had the power to mentally and physically decimate you to make a girl nervous. You finally noticed his mouth was moving, he was speaking to you. Blood rushed to your face and you yanked yourself out of your trance.

“Sorry, you’re distracting. I mean I’m distracted.” You told him, mentally slapping yourself.

He chucked, a deep rumbling low pitched sound.

“It’s alright, I gather you’re nervous about this?” He smiled warmly at you and came to sit on the chair next to the sofa.

“Yes. I mean no, I’m not nervous. I’m just not sure coming her was the right decision.” You replied.

“Should I be offended?” He asked, amusement in his voice.

“I...” You were at a loss on how to dig yourself out of this hole.

“It’s fine Miss Stark, I’m a professional. I shouldn’t tease you like that. I’m Doctor Leonard Samson, most know me as Doc Samson though.” He stood back up and offered you his hand.

You stood up and the considerable height difference between you was highlighted. You placed your hand in his and it completely enveloped yours but despite the fact he could crush your fingers his handshake was gentle. You swallowed thickly, trying to still your erratic heartbeat.

“Pleasure to meet you Doc, I’m obviously Miss Stark.”  You stammered

You sat back down and shifted in your seat, trying to act natural. Having your brain picked at wasn’t something you were particularly looking forward to.

“So how do you wanna do this?” You asked.

“Before we begin Miss Stark, you should I take my position quite seriously and in order for this to work you need to trust me. Should you grant me that trust, I won’t betray it. I will never knowingly do anything to harm or endanger you. I may have been recommanded by Miss Hill but my loyalty is with my patients. My loyalty is with you.” He told you solemnly.

“Maria called and asked you to report back to her then.” You said, rolling your eyes.

“She did, however I won’t do that. In the past, when working for Shield I had to tell her certain things. You are not a Shield agent and I do not work for them anymore.” He admitted.

“Alright. I believe you.” You said, though whether you actually trusted him was something you hadn’t decided yet.

“Now why don’t we start by you telling me in your own words why you came here today?” He asked.

You took a deep breath. Trust issues aside, the issues you had needed attention.

“I have a homicidal alter ego I created from the worst parts of my personality during my years of torture and abuse, it has the access to my chaotic and dangerous abilities and it’s trying to take over me so it can destroy humanity.”

Therapy was a bust.

Alright, so it had only been one session but still… You were disappointed. Though getting everything off your chest to an impartial, non-judgemental person had been kind of cathartic. All you had done in that session was talk, bringing the doctor up to speed on your situation. He had then told you that it was enough for one day and arranged to see you again at the same time next week.

Thor had brought you back to the compound and if anyone asked, you two had been at McDonalds. You even had McNuggets for Wanda and Sam to help sell your lie. Your medical status and Thor’s pet problems were safely kept away from the team.

You carried Sam’s nuggets into the kitchen and laughed when you saw him.

“Well one of us is going to have to change.” You joked.

“Not it. This is my best friend I’ll have you know, I reserve the right to wear her face on a t-shirt.” Sam insisted.

“Sam it’s MY face!”You laughed.

Now that you were public whoever was in charge of The Avengers merch had wasted no time in releasing your line. Tony had every single piece of it delivered while you were at the School earlier that day before your appointment. You had proudly strutted into the kitchen with your t-shirt on, only to find that Sam was also wearing one.

Steve walked in and gave you both an amused glance.

“Well one of you is going to have to change.” He said with a grin.

“Get better jokes Cap.” You mocked while Sam scoffed at your hypocrisy.

“Did you see the action figure?” Sam asked.

“Oh I saw it, dad had it all delivered.” You replied.

“To everyone. We all got a box of your merch this afternoon, I think he might be proud.” Steve said as he poured himself a cup of coffee.

“Yeah, but did he have to give us it all? I don’t think he realized there was an underwear range.” Sam said, pulling a face.

“I’m going to send my panties to Wade, he’ll be over the moon.” You joked at the exact moment Bucky walked in.

The four of you froze, you blushing and the three men looking at you in various states of amusement and concern.

“That’s not … I didn’t mean… You weren’t supposed to hear that!” You spluttered.

“Really?” Bucky said sarcastically.

Sam and Steve started edging towards the door.

“It wasn’t how it sounded?” You offered meekly.

“It sounded like you want to send your underwear to another man behind my back.” He growled and Sam and Steve gave up any pretence of sneakiness and bolted.

“Morning doll.” Bucky sniggered and kissed you on the cheek.

“That was mean, I really thought you were mad at me!” You pouted.

“Nah, I knew what you meant. Was fun to scare those two idiots though.” He said, pushing you up against the fridge door and squeezing your hips. He had just leaned down to kiss you properly when a screeching voice interrupted him.

“NO STEVE, I HAVE TO GO BACK FOR HER. I’M COMING BABY GIRL!”

You and Bucky shared a look of confusion before Sam burst into the kitchen and picked you up. You saw Bucky smirk in amusement before Sam ran out of the kitchen with you in his arms.

“Whatcha doing?” You asked in bewilderment.

“Rescuing from your possessive idiot of a boyfriend.”

“Ok… Now what?” You pressed as he made his way down the hallways.

“I hadn’t thought this far ahead” He admitted.

“Do I get to walk at any point?” You asked.

“It’s not a daring rescue unless I carry you heroically to safety.”

“Alright Falcon but you should know my ‘possessive idiot of a boyfriend’ is following us.” You warned him.

You heard Bucky huff in annoyance a few corridors back as Sam started sprinting.

“You ran off to Spain with Deadpool and the to Malibu with Tony. I haven’t had you to myself in weeks, Barnes isn’t getting you back.” He sniped.

“So this is less of a rescue and more of a kidnapping.” You sighed.

You seemed to have a knack for being rescuenapped by Wilson's apparently.

“Stark.”

“Wolfy. Mind telling me why you called me here to a clandestine meeting under the cover of dark? Because if it’s what I think it is, I’ve got to tell you I’m flattered but Pepper and I are happy.” Tony asked.

Tony had been curious since the moment the feral X-Man had called and asked him to come to the mansion alone, to discuss a sensitive matter. Logan pushed a tumbler of liquor across the counter to him with an eye roll.

“It’s about your kid.”

“What about her? Did everything go ok, is something wrong?” Tony asked in a panic.

Logan huffed out a breath that was almost a laugh at the sigh of at the normally suave and egotistical billionaire being so ruffled by the mere mention of his daughter.

“You cooled off about her and Barnes yet?” Logan asked him.

“You called me here because you’re invested in Kit Kat’s love life?”

“She was pretty upset about it. It’s affecting her focus. I can’t teach her a damn thing if she’s too busy wondering if her daddy loves her.” Logan said lowly.

“Since when are you the touchy feely type? What’s really going on, because I don’t believe for a second this is an intervention.” Tony snarked.

“Trust me tin man, I have a vested interest in making sure she’s alright.” Logan growled.

“She’s fine. She knows I love her. Kit Kat and Pepper are my family.” Tony snapped.

Logan huffed audibly and said nothing, just watching Tony with a disconcerting air. Tony crossed his arms and regarded the Wolverine right back.

“It’s like being in a staring contest with a stray cat.” Tony quipped.

“There’s your first clue.” Logan said snarkily.

“Anne. Her name was Anne.” Logan said out of the blue before Tony could respond.  

“I’m sorry, I must have got lost in your eyes and missed part of the conversation. Who’s name was Anne?”

Logan paused before he sighed wearily.

“Her mother. You were looking for a name, her name was Anne.”

Tony blinked in surprise.

“How… How did you find out.” Tony asked suspiciously.

“You’re the genius. Figure it out.”

“No. It’s impossible.”

“It’s not.”

“You can’t be her father.” Tony stammered.

“I’m not. You are, obviously. I’m just the biological father.” Logan said wearily.

“How?” Tony asked, shaken and apprehensive.

Logan arched his brow.

“Don’t. You know what I mean. How did this happen, how long have you known about her.”  Tony asked furiously.

“I didn’t know until you started trying to identify the mother, even then I didn’t actually know. It wasn’t until I met her.  If I had know she existed I would have found her.” Logan said, offended by the insinuation.

Tony started pacing, overwhelmed by the information.

“Why are you telling me this?” He demanded.

“Thought you should know.” Logan supplied.

“No, I shouldn’t. She doesn’t want to look for her biological father. I can’t keep this from her. What the hell am I supposed to do here?” Tony raged.

“You’re her dad, you figure it out.” Logan huffed.

“You’re damn right I’m her dad. I love that girl more than anything. She is the kindest, bravest, strongest person I have ever met. I am lucky to be her father.” He raved.

Logan shrugged.

“What the hell do you want? Are you trying to claim her or disavow yourself of her?” Tony pressed, enraged.

“Which would you prefer?” Logan asked.

“Neither! She doesn’t deserve either of those things.”

“I don’t know. I barely know the kid, she waltzes out of nowhere and I don’t know how to react. She’s got you, she doesn’t need me.” Logan said.

“Then why even bother telling me?” Tony shouted.

“Because of Anne. I didn’t love her mother, barely knew her. But now things are starting to make sense and there’s something about Anne that you and the kid need to know.” Logan said.

“What?” Tony demanded.

He didn’t know what to think, what to say, what to do. The information being thrust upon him was far too much to handle rationally and he was regretting ever picking up the phone, let alone flying to the mansion.

“Anne told me her father was a scientist. Anne’s last name was Docherty. I’m pretty sure the man who kept your daughter in a cell and tortured her was her own grandfather.”

Manga Recommandations ...

Yeah, I am finally doing what nobody asked for. I am gonna give ya’ll a list of Manga that I think aren’t that well known but are great and worth a read (at least in my opinion), Sounds Good? Alrighty let’s get this going them! 

Groundless - Sekigan no Sogekihei��      

Now that is one Manga that I would really like to continue and release chapters in english faster. But it seems like no one really bothers to translate it atm wich is sad :(                                                                                                                         Anyway, Groundless is set on an island in a somewhat modern fantasy world with a civil war rumbling on said island. The main character is Sophia who lost her husband and daughter after their arms shop got set up with a hughe order from the colonel of the army stationed there. All she has left is a sniper rifle her husband hid for her to sell in case something bad happens. Instead of selling it she decides to seek revenge and joins the local militia as a sniper. 

It’s got some pretty cool charakters, it’s brutal (not over the top brutal though) and the art is pretty good.

Afterschool War Activities

Alright, technically this is not quite a manga since it is a Webtoon but I like it and it is pretty cool ... yea.                                                                                              Set in a South Korean Highschool, the daily lifes of our class are dissrupted when strange things appear in the sky (strange and deadly). highschoolers and university students have to fill up the military ranks to fight this strange enemy off.

It has a lot of interesting characters in the school class we follow around and it gives a pretty good impression on the emotional stress and trauma the situation brings with it. 

Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad

Let’s switch our guns out for something different now ... how about a guitar. Beck is one of my favourite Anime and Manga out there and I’d say everybody should give it a try because it is so good. First of, the Anime ends around Chapter 29 of the Manga and it sticks pretty closely to it. So if you want to watch the anime instead for the first quarter of the Story, there you go :P                                  Since I don’t really know how I should summarize the story of Beck without going on for the next ten minutes I’ll make it short. Yukio Tanaka gets into playing the guitar and starts to set his sights on becomming a rock star (the absolute breakdown version of it).                                                                           It has a lot of good drama, is super fun and has pretty good music (Anime Only :( ). The only thing that might put you off on the anime at least is the animations. They can be a bit whacky in normal situations. The manga however looks gorgeous all the time. Two last words: JUST READ IT GOD DAMN IT’S SO DAMN GOOD OMG 

In This Corner of the World

Oh yeah baby, we’re back with the War stuff. Though this time we don’t really see anything of the fighting itself. 

Rather we’re following a typical japanese family through their daily lifes during the second world war. Sound glum and boring? Don’t worry thanks our somewhat clumsy but loveable main charakter and a wonderfull cast in general it won’t be that glum mos.. well ... not all the time. And if the cast isn’t enough, the art of it is also very beautifull and you learn a lot about how live was during that time in japan (there is a whole vocabulary list at the end of each volume explaining certain words and phrases in the context of the war). 

But wait that is not all, if you don’t necessarily want to read through the 3 Volumes of it you can watch the movie on Netfilx. It will definitly be worth your time (maybe don’t watch it when you want something happy go lucky though).

Maria: The Virgin Witch

I know it might seem like I only read stuff that is set during some kind of war but I promise you that that is not the case and just a coincidence. This time the story is set in the Hundred Years’ War.                                                                             Maria our young and ambitious witch wants to stop the war with her sex appeal... Do I need to say more to convince you? Yes? Well alright. She herself is still a virgin so she sends her domestic deamon to do the sexy time part for her. God on the other hand doesn’t really like the idea that Maria wants to end the war wich leads to our little conflict between our cute little witch and an arch angel. 

With only three Volumes it’s a nice and quick read and a very fun one at that. Or you know... you could watch the anime wich is also decent.  

Black Rock Shooter: Innocent Soul

Alright, now we’re really done with the War stuff i promise :D                                 So you might’ve already heard of Black Rock Shooter and you might have watched the anime/ short movie ova thing. BRS IS takes the charakters of Black Roch Shooter and puts them in a alternate story that has nothing to do with the anime stuff.  

Set in  Hazama, a world between heaven and earth where souls land that are not worthy of going to heaven nor hell, we follow a girl called rock who is a Black Star whose job it is to keep order.                                                                            Again a very short manga with three volumes it has a nice story (though it get’s a bit hard to follow in the very last bit from what I remember right now) and a very beautifull art style. Also it has some super funny moments in it thanks to the great dynamic between our main protaganist and her side kick. 

Prophecy

Another three volume Manga comming right up. Prophecy.                                    A man uploads videos on definitly not youtube Mr. Copyright man, where he promises revenge for crimes that didn’t get punished hard enough (and pulls through with them). Meanwhile a special divison of the police force specialized in cybercrime tries to catch the man.                                                                           It’s a nice cat and mouse detective criminal story with an interesting take on social media and social injustice. It can feel a bit silly at the beginning when they talk about the internet but that might just be the german translation in my case :P  If you have a thing for some good crime stories definitly check it out.

Aion

One of my favorite and first manga. A manga I would really like to see as an anime but probably never will. I kinda don’t wanna say to much about it here because I probably wouldn’t find an end. So basically mermaids are real and they try to F up humanity with worms that control them. Our main protagonist meets the girl who has her sights set out to kill all the mermaids.                           It’s a really cool story and unique (as far as I remember it ... I need to read it again) with some nice characters and I also did a drawing of one f the characters that turned out pretty dope ... ok that last part is probably not that convincing to you so just check the manga out ok? Good. 

Boku Girl

Ok, you’re almost done by now. To end this list I have something with a bit more bare skin that is also a bit weird and a 100% hillarious and caused me to cry of laughter more than the number of it’s chapters. And it develops into a cute little love story aswell.

Out main character is Suzushiro Mizuki who is far from a a very masculine guy, In fact he get’s mistaken for a girl more than he’d like to. Even his crush thinks of him more as one of the girls. Meanwhile, Loki the Trickster god get’s bored with playing tricks on other gods so he plays one on Mizuki ... (also Loki is a girl ... in this one at least). I guess you might be able to figure out what happens to poor Mizuki with this prank and if you don’t mind that stuff, you most likely will have a blast with it (I hope at least because I definitly had).                                               And I dont’t think I have more to add to that :D

 OH WAIT ... IT HAS SUPER CUTE MOMENTS ... that’s all

Aight. that concludes my short list of manga that I want you to read cuz I like them and you better like them too OR ELSE ... 

Mind you I did this whole text in one sitting and it was very spontaneous and late at night. So if you can’t make sense out of my gibberish and  eventuall spelling/grammatik errors, I am sorry. I didn’t really prepare this as much as I could have and it’s been a while since I wrote a longer text in english.

I hope you enjoyed this list anyways and some of the Manga aswell. I might or might not do stuff like this again in the future, maybe a bit more prepared.

Because I’ve been asked countless times to make a list like this, here are my Poe Recommandations™:

For when you want to read something so beautiful you wanna cry: 

- Eleonora (fluff, description porn), for that kinda lines “And now, too, a voluminous cloud, which we had long watched in the regions of Hesper, floated out thence, all gorgeous in crimson and gold, and settling in peace above us, sank, day by day, lower and lower, until its edges rested upon the tops of the mountains, turning all their dimness into magnificence, and shutting us up, as if forever, within a magic prison-house of grandeur and of glory.”

- The Domain of Arnheim (pure unashamed description porn) for this line especially : “This basin was of great depth, but so transparent was the water that the bottom, which seemed to consist of a thick mass of small round alabaster pebbles, was distinctly visible by glimpses—that is to say, whenever the eye could permit itself not to see, far down in the inverted heaven, the duplicate blooming of the hills.”

- Landor’s Cottage, which is supposed to go with Arnheim.

- The Island of the Fay, and Morning on the Wissahiccon, both super short and super beautiful. 

- Ligeia, because it’s the most beautiful description of a woman ever written and it’s like four pages long and yet still leaves you wanting more. I swear, you would marry her yourself by the end of it. Ligeia is my queen (also she’s named after a siren from Greek mythology and I love it!)

- The Bells (it’s a poem), because you can actually HEAR THEM

For when you wanna shiver from both terror and poetry: 

- The Masque of the Red Death (cw: gore, death (duh)), for its introduction, I won’t spoil it here but I’ve read it hundreds of times and I still get major chills every time. 

- William Wilson (cw: death, also it’s super gay and my favorite Poe story ever) : “I fled in vain. My evil destiny pursued me as if in exultation, and proved, indeed, that the exercise of its mysterious dominion had as yet only begun. [...] Where, in truth, had I not bitter cause to curse him within my heart? From his inscrutable tyranny did I at length flee, panic-stricken, as from a pestilence; and to the very ends of the earth I fled in vain.” (yeah I wasn’t kidding with the gay overtones)

- The Pit and the Pendulum. Spanish Inquisition! Pits! Rats! Giant swinging pendulums! Torture! Fun! A plot twist! 

- Berenice, a true Horror Classic (cw for serious body horror)

- The Raven. I shouldn’t even have to write this, but yeah, it’s amazing. (but it’s the only time he ever mentions a raven, why are people so obsessed with this?? he mentions cats a million times but no, we got stuck on the ravens)

For when you want Maximum Drama:

-The Assignation. They have ZERO CHILL. Also the description of both are awesome but the description of the guy is majorly gay. 

- The Oblong Box, again, I won’t spoil anything but it’s really good. 

- The Tell-Tale Heart, which is probably the best written Poe story of all. The pacing is simply perfect. 

For when you want to hate the world a little less: 

- The Thousand and Second Tale of Scheherazade (yes, it’s the actual title). It’s written as a tale, except Scheherazade explains the wonders of the world as if they were magic stuff and it’s so nice. 

For when you want to laugh (yes, really!): 

- The Cask of Amontillado. The Mason joke will never fail to be funny. 

- X-ing a Paragraph. He writes a whole fucking story for the sake of a pun, and that is dedication. He also wrote somewhere that a pun was good in the measure in which it makes you want to punch the one who delivers it, the dude understood. 

- The Philosophy of Furniture. He wrote an actual essay on how he thinks a room should be furnished and it’s accidental comedy gold. He is just so dramatic about everything (”The abomination of flowers, or representations of well known objects of any kind should never be endured within the limits of Christendom.”  See also: “Its leading feature is glitter—and in that one word how much of all that is detestable do we express! Flickering, unquiet lights are sometimes pleasing—to children and idiots always so—but in the embellishment of a room they should be scrupulously avoided.”)

- Lines on Joe Locke. It’s a super short poem but it’s his second best dig at someone ever and it’s hilarious. 

For when you want something weird but great: 

- The Man of the Crowd. Nothing actually happens but it’s so good?? I always see “Nighthawks” by Hopper when I read it, and since it’s one of my favorite paintings, I’m completely okay with it.

- Hop-Frog. The ending is still one of the most satisfying he ever wrote. 

Do NOT read these though: 

- The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym. Pym’s stupidity will make you want to punch something. Also, it’s full of Coleridge references and weirdly racist stuff. It’s bad. And long. So it’s like... doubly bad. If you want some actually good Coleridge re-telling, A Descent into the Maelström is great. 

- Eureka. I did my master’s thesis on it and I STILL have no idea where he���s going with it. It’s long. It’s weird. It’s surprisingly religious. It had diagrams and equations. (but if you feel up to reading 100+ pages of religiousy science, by all means, it has some pretty visionnary stuff. He talks about evolution 11 years before Darwin, he talks about the atomic bomb one whole century before it happened, and he is officially the first person to mention what is now called “Obler’s Paradox”  (aka why is the sky dark if there are so many stars?). Yes, Eddie-boy was a proper genius. Actually, Eureka is really good, just not as a first contact with Poe?) 

And the best thing is that ALL OF THESE ARE AVAILABLE FOR FREE ONLINE (check Wikisource) so now go forth and read some Poe my darlings!

(Oh, and for those of you who can/wanna/do read French, the French translations are, for the most part, done by Baudelaire himself, and they are. just. so good. The Domain of Arnheim is especially breathtaking in the French version.)

OKAY so a Champion of the Just completed later, after hearing a lot of people recommanding it over In Hushed Whispers because it's "better to play" i finished it and i must admit i'm disappointed.

Okay so big thoughts eventually, and it may be full of bad faith because I really like IHW and when people compare something i like to something I don't know my bias become stronger, but those were basically my Hot Takes (NOTE: all of it is biased af, i mean it as "pros for Me" "Cons for ME" this is not a judgement of the quality of the quest in general)

Also under the cut bc damn i love complaining

Pros:

-The Concept of Envy. As a demon, it is incredibly cool, and I am mesmerized by what it can mean, of how many Envy Demons may actually exist, this kind of things. The gameplay inside of Envy's world was amazing, and the scenes to manipulate the Inquisitor were all really, really chilling. (but i'll go back on it more later for others reasons). Makes me want to see another Envy Demon in game, in a plotline that is more accessible.

-Cole's scenes. Cole introduction was great, Cole coming to help was great, Cole coming at the war table was amazing. All was fun and I love how his speech patern present itself. He's such an interesting characters in general.

-Ser Barris. True mvp. He was sweet and kind and I feel like he represented more what the Order should have been about instead of what it ended up being. Although i'm upset he can legit die this easily fuck this.

-Overrall nothing new is learnt tbh, but I am chilled by the line about "they often make us test different kind of lyrium" about the templars habits. This bring a whole new level of fucked up to the whole thing.

-Some of Envy's manipulations were actually very insightful on my character and made me understand her a little better, which i always appreciate. Being able to explore my character is always a welcomed thing.

-Bull has a very funny line when it comes to talking about Envy when you don't take him along.

-Cole's feeling toward the breach are kind of interesting, and i don't think it's that much mentioned when he comes after you closed the breach in the IHW run.

Eehhhhs (Not Pros but Not Cons either):

-The whole gameplay with the Templars holding the barrers. I've seen people complain that IHW had a dull playthrough and i think it may be because it's compared to that. Indeed, that was an interesting idea, but i hate going against the clock and in the end it didn't bring anything too interesting.

-Thematically speaking, the Envy quest tries to do with Cullen what the Future Quest did with Leliana: ie, showing the player how they would react to catalystic events reminding them of desperate times. Leliana was her loss of faith after the tortures she endured and her "failure" (it's not your fault bby), and Cullen was how, after he rebelled against the Envy!Inquisitor he feels he deserves to suffer if it is that he was too blind to realize he was serving another tyrant.. Both are things that can resonate a lot with both of those characters. Thematically it's coherent.

The problem though is that for Leliana, it was the Future: it was FACTS. It was actually happening. And by sacrificing herself to have you get back in the past, she gained her faith, at least in you, again to help you.

For Cullen, it makes absolutly no sense Envy shows that (more in a moment) and it doesn't actually happen to Cullen but to an illusion. So the impact is completely dull, even if i think it was intended just as much as fact value as Leliana's.

Cons:

-Here I go: Envy is a freaking moron oh my god. That destroys absolutly the full amazing concept, Envy is so much a moron.

Envy is supposed to serve for exposition the same way the timetravel quest does, but it backfire so badly. Alexius ended up making you travel in time because he wanted to erase you from the timeline, and if i recall, you weren't sent too far in time thanks to Dorian. Anyway, Alexius didn't expect it to happen this way - what you learn in the future are actual facts of the plans of Corypheus: you learn that he murdered Celene, that he unleashed demons, ect... but you learn them because /It happened/. Plus there are the chilling moments with the sky being clearly opened. ("It used to be that only dwarves were afraid of the sky, now it's just common sense")

But in this plotline, Envy is just a goddamn moron??? the justification is that Envy wants to see how you'll react to the things he shows you so he can impersonate you better but..... Then.... he ends up revealing the whole plan of Corypheus... just to see your reaction... while he's still planning on being a tyran at your place anyway so it's not like he'll be in character doing that.

This is SO STUPID and it takes out of the experience completely to me. Because it's just that Envy is such a moron, how did Corypheus trust him with anything??? that's so stupid, oh my god, so stupid.

Like, I don't completely fault the writting per se, bc I do think Envy would be that stupid (the concept being that he always wants more to impersonate someone, ye, makes sense) but it removes a lot of the weight you get in IHW.

In IHW I was terrified that this future may happen. In CotJ I was just angry that Envy believed it could happen, and that he would think no one would notice him being an idiot.

-Cole's involvement. It kinda sucks since I just said i loved his scenes, but this is just..... so weird. Dorian was involved in the mage quest because his Master was the one who put this trouble, and he wanted to help the mages. Cole was there for reasons totally indepedant from the templars, and his involvement is completely about helping you against Envy and that's it. Even him coming back later feels a little out of place and a little forced?

Or at least it feels so when the alternative is known. IHW feels much, much more natural, with him coming because he realized the threats, felt it, and tbh I find him being confusing even worse when the Templars are basically assaulting us - and him being a support for Roderick makes so much poetic sense in a way that it wouldn't as much with Dorian (especially with Cole reminding Roderick his own thoughts and all).

So in CotJ it just feels.... a little out of place in general?

-The companions almost bring completely nothing to the plot orz. I had Cass, Viv and Solas and Cass and Viv had a few little sidecomments that were neat, but in comparaison to IHW this was lacking. 

-Hell the whole emotional impact of the Future of IHW is far better.

-The templars involvement was weird. The Red Templars were antagonists sure, but since the focus was so much on Envy it was really distracting from what was happening to the Templars. It was more balanced out in IHW.

-I still hate the Templar Order and this quest didn't make me like it at all. The result of having them joining the inquisition are underwhelming, but that's mostly bc i dismantled them. Still though I've never felt this disliked by the Advisors, yet three out of four of the advisors were against me allying with the mages and they were much more graceful about it than they were with the whole dismantling the Templars thing. 

-I went from them being sweet and soft with me to them being disappointed with me the templar run is hell.

-Speaking of bad, something i mentioned before, but ti's basically confirmed that even while dismantled the Templars are still looking for ways to controle the mages even against Cullen's and Cass's orders. I hate the Templars so damn much. It remplaces a scene which were just showing a mage complain because they were cold. Kinda shows their priorities.

Long story short, I think it is definitly worth a try in term of gameplay because there are some interesting stuff, but even without speaking about how i'm morally against the templars and that IHW is just more Morally Right, it just feels like it's less coherent in the narrative. Interesting to /play/ but not interesting to live in a timeline i'd say.

That's my Hot Take and i'm probably too harsh because I really liked IHW and saw a lot of people compare the two, and that i've played it non stop just to be just "that's.... it?" about it, so i guess i point out the flaws too much.

With the upcoming Parenthood gamepack, I feel like it's the perfect time to share some tips regarding the tidious process of furnishing younger sims rooms. Some people love it, some don't but we're all on the same page regarding this fact : they all tend to look exactly the same.

It's not only due to the lack of contents for younger sims – which the new pack will partially resolve. But mainly because we all have our own aesthetic, tastes and favorite items and it's hard to put them on hold, even for once. Since I've noticed my kids rooms similarities I tried the hardest to make unique creations which fit their personalities.

Plus, for story-telling purpose it's always good to have very different locations with unique ambiances to visit. With some easy steps, I'll show you how I customize my kids rooms. Of course, there's not only a way to do so. There's endless possibilities and methods. If you check others simmers pictures, you’ll see incredibles ideas and hacks !

The Sims 4 motto is based on uniqueness of each sims. We all agreed that our virtual families still need improvements but it's on a good way. Nevertheless, kids already have a good amont of traits to choose from. Traits can be used a a direction to customize their personal space : active sims can have a ball in a corner, book-worm books near their bed, foodie some fruits posters hang here and there... Same goes for their aspiration !

Imagine walking in your friend's room for the first time : you've some clues of their personalities and tastes by just by taking a look. I try to have the same feelings with my sims.

In general, simmers tend to make “girls rooms” and “boys rooms” with some very significant changes depending on the gender of the kid. I used to do the same but since awhile I like to have neutral gender rooms - or at least, less “genderized” rooms.

Of course, it’s not really obvious at the first look but I’m really working on it. I sincerly think it’s more realistic to have “neutral rooms” for kids because all girls don’t like princess and dolls, and all boys don’t like trucks and robots. It’s more complex than that. Time to time I put some “boys games” on girls rooms and vice versa. I really encourage you to, at least, give it a try and see what happens !

Whatever is your gameplay, some of your sims most likely have a background you imagined or shaped for them. That's my case : I do know their names and what they went through. I've some kids who live in two separate houses because their parents are now divorced ; Kids who don't like to spend their time inside and prefer to play with neighbours ; Kids who just love video games and TV so much ; Kids who live with their grand-parents or uncles and aunts ; Some who've lost their parents and a few of them are adopted.

Well, you've the picture : it's all very diverse and for me it's essential to find this diversity in my kids rooms. For example, adopted kids tend to have tons of toys, new clothes and stuff because I imagine the parents to be so happy to have a kid that they just can't stop buying things. Plus, they waited a very long time to welcome this little girl or boy !

At the opposite, kids who live in fosters homes (I actually have 2), do not have a lot of personal stuff. Their room is nice but it obviously lacks of customization because it's not really « their » home and it's an awkward situation for them. Each background can explain how the room is actually set up. Their room must be just like reading a story. Theirs.

Small houses, manors, cottage, loft, apartments, all kids don't belong to the same social group. And, obviously, their families don't have the same financial funds.

If you want to be realistic, try to fit the household revenue : poor families usually don't have a lot of things to give to their kids, and as a consequence their room might be a little bit empty. If it's a large families, kids tend to have missmatched items because they got stuff from older siblings, cousins, sales or maybe even from charity. Also, if your sims have siblings and they do share their room with them, try to give everyone a small space : it can be a special item that the other one won't ever use, a color theme, photos of their friends, an half-wall... pretty much anything !

I usually make 3 differents spaces in a kids room :

You can underline these various areas with rugs or differents colors. Last but not least, if your sims share their room with a twins, a older or younger siblings try to make it look obvious who's spot is who's.

Small or big ? Depending on your house layout or household funds, the kids rooms is still an important part of your lot.

I usually took about 1,5K up to 3K to furnish them. Here in France, Kids are a big part of our culture. There's a lot of stuff specific for them (clothes or food lines, objects, parties, special vacations...). For example, when you buy a house here, kids rooms are bigger than parents ones – which is not the case in other architural styles. Anyway, if I've a several kids in a sims family in like to put the younger one near to the parents bedrooms or downstairs (easier to keep an eye on).

As for the actual proportions, it's really up to you : do you want to give a lot of space to your kids ? or do you don't really care that much of what they're doing ? do you plan to take a lot of screenshots inside ? All of these are questions you should adress at some point ; especially the last one. If you want to take pictures of your kids sims playing, try to make a square room (6x6 is a good start). I think square room is the easiest to play with.

But your sims can also have a room in the attic, or a really tiny one... If you don't have a lot of space you'll need to prioritize what's the most important for them : a quiet place to do their homework ? somewhere to do some crazy experiments ? or just chill and dance to some pop music ? There's so much they can do and such a little space to fill ! In my game, I usually put 2 activities per kids rooms (for example, piano or a radio for shy sims who don't want to show off their poor skills to their families).

There's a fair amount of things kids can do – even with the base game only ! They can dance, play instruments, collect things... If your sims love to do something, feel free to gives some hints here and there.

In my game, I love to see my kids collecting and if they bring something I end up by placing the new item on a shelf, their desk or near their windows. I think it's a cute addition and it makes their personnal space a little bit more 'special' (''Look ! It's Trevor... I think he's depress''). You can also pretend that your kids have a lot more of things going on by placing items under their beds or on top of their dressers.

For my kids rooms I usually ending up by picking 2 or 3 main colors with some neutral tons such as white, beige or even brown. Since a few months, I try to use a swatch I never really paid attention to as a start (a rug, a lamp or even a door). There's so much awesome objects we've and that we barely use. For real, I often discover new swatches and I doubt some people know that it even exist ! So dig the swatches more and try to pick this color as a pattern.

All colors have a meaning and I like to give colors following their personnalities or past. Also, don't use too much bright colors as main patterns : it's a real headache when you're plaing... and don't make all your room with one color like yellow walls, yellow bed, yellow toys. It's not realistic and it's not really pretty – according to me, it's just my personal thought. Play with the complementary colors, the textures and the lightings !

Well, most kids are afraid of the dark. So you have to put extra lightings comparing to an adult room (and no candles, please, lol). Some lights in the game are way too bright in small rooms and some don't even do their job. For kids rooms I use some weak hanging light (or I just decrease their brightness) and I add some floor lamps and wall-lights (about 3 or 4). What I love to do is to automatically deactivate all lights, except one. Then, when they're asleep they only have their very cute lighting shining in the darkness. Besides, you can chose another color light which is a really cute addition.

We can't tell it more : clutter is life ! Put some mess, hang their paintings on the walls, size up some items to make it look different, it's all up to you. Dig the debug objects catalogue and re-use items differently. Hang posters, overlap stickers.. Be imaginative !

Reunion

Sorry about not posting during the past week, from monday till thursday nothing happened, I had courses, nothing exceptional, on tuesday and wednesday I was sitting inside since I couldn’t really do anything yet cause of the injuries (they are much better now, today I had my first ride since the crash, but we’ll get there.) So. On friday I was expecting my sister and her husband to arrive in the evening. I had a class from 6-8 pm, where we formed groups for a presentation that we’ll assemble till early november. I got in a group with a spanish dude (Oscar), and two czech people, Filip and Adele(? sorry not totally sure.) Our topic for the presentation is gonna be ‘Child labour in Morocco’. Happy topic ey? After class one of them recommanded to have a beer together. Since I wanted to surprise my sister and get to the place where they were supposed to stay I was hesitating to go with the group or not but I eventually I did and it was great, we had tapas and beer (which I still don’t like btw), but the tapas was amazing at least. As I found out Oscar was also on erasmus last semester guess where? Prague! So he already had a common topic with the others. I found it a bit hard to join the conversation but I’m almost sure it was only because of my not so social personality, it takes a lot of time for me to open up in front of strangers. Whatevs, I’m working on it. At some point I realized that I should bail if I wanna get to my sister’s accomodation before they arrive. So I had a long run and I managed to catch them while my brother in law (in the future: Marci) was trying to park in an underground parking lot, in an extremely shitty place with the instructions of the, as my sister put it, little chinese woman (their host). Thank God they were happy to see me (cause earlier that day we agreed on meeting on saturday morning), I helped them get their stuff from the car to the flat. After that we went to get dinner/a beer somewhere close. So, this whole dinner would deserve a book, but I am gonna try to keep it short. We didn’t want to walk far since they were tired so we basically sat down at the second place that seemed okay. The quality check was something like “if many people are sitting there it means the place is good”. Well I think we managed to find one of the most local place in the whole city, with a bartender lady who has to be at least 70 or more but she was very nice, she tried to speak some english and all. She was also very chill, while serving food and drinks she sometimes just sat down to grab a few bites, like no hurry, we got time right?! We had beer and tapas (which was eggs with some potatoes with onion cooked together?). Of course the menu was in spanish so we tried to translate it, which didn’t work out perfectly let’s put it that way. Marci managed to choose the most english food on the menu, fries, beans and sausage..My sister (in the future: Lilla)..the thing is I actually forgot what she ate…Whatever. It was really good to see these two again, as we haven’t seen each other since june…

Castlevania Netflix Season 1 review

Better late than never I suppose.

Let me just preface this by saying that I’m a HUGE Castlevania fan, I’ve played most of the games, even the old school ones. And this blog is originally dedicated to Castlevania, and its artist Ayami Kojima. In fact my username is a direct reference to her and her pen name, as well as “Santa lilio Sangre” which is the title of her artbook, that I highly recommand checking out .

Also this review will contain spoilers so be warned.I don’t think I can talk about the story and the characterization without mentioning spoilers, so read at your own risk.

With that out of the way, it wouldn’t come as a surprise that I’d have an interest in this series. Actually this came out of nowhere, there was talk of an adaptation years ago, but it came to nothing. And with the whole Konami debacle, all hope of seeing anything Castlevania related vanished....until Netflix came in.

The story is based on Castlevania III Dracula’s curse, which I’ll have you know is one of my favourite games in the franchise.It’s also partly inspired by Symphony of the night, which is by far my favorite game of all times.  I gotta say that I’m really impressed about how the showrunners expanded on the lore of the game and the franchise as a whole. There’s a clear effort made into fleshing out the characters, and expanding on the lore and the story. The games were never really heavy on the story, but here we get to know more about the context  of those times, and how the Church for example played a huge role, not just in regulating the religious life of the believers.

The  story follows Trevor Belmont, of the clan Belmont, whose main occupation is hunting vampires and all kinds of otherwordly creatures, on his quest to defeat Dracula.  One year prior to the current timeline, Dracula is legitimately pissed off at humanity for having burned his wife on a stake after wrongly accusing her of being a witch.

I gotta say I love how the showrunners fleshed the relationship between Dracula and Lisa. It’s short but it’s to the point.It’s better than any crappy Vampire romance we’ve seen in the past 10 years. It starts with Lisa from Lupu village showing up at Drac’s castle, to learn science. She wants to be a doctor to help her fellow humans. She’s portrayed as being quite witty, and in fact most of the main cast are portrayed as such (not counting the priests since they’re dumb as fuck).

She manages to convince Dracula to teach her science, and here there’s somewhat of a deviation from the usual lore. While in the games it’s not unusual to encounter objects that are futuristic, or even the Creature which by all means is the result of science, Dracula’s powers are deeply rooted in magic, or even alchemy. A recurrent area in Dracula’s castle or “Castlevania” is the Alchemy Laboratory. Either way in exchange of him teaching her all there is to know about science, she in turn will teach him how to enjoy life as a human, since so far it appears that Dracula has never walked or travelled as a man. He originally starts by hating humanity and not having much faith in them, and this beautiful woman comes along and changes his views entirely.

Years later while Dracula is away, travelling as a human which shows that he followed Lisa, aka his wife’s advice, the Church does a really dick move by burning her at the stake....Yeah that’s bound to backfire horribly. Lisa on the stake begs Dracula not to be mad at humans, but all the harm has been done. After he learns of her demise, he transforms into a fiery pillar and goes to face the Archbishop and all the assholes responsible of her death. He gives the people of Targoviste a year to make peace with their God. And then he’ll unleash hell on humans.

I gotta say Dracula’s wrath is justified, you decided to piss off the guy who didn’t like humans to begin with, and took away from him the thing that made him become a better person. So there’s bound to be some retribution. However as Alucard, his son from Lisa points out, he should direct his wrath on those who are directly responsible for her death, and not all of humanity and people who are innocent. But Dracula won’t have any of that, so he attacks his son to prevent him from meddling with his plan to raise an undead army in a year.

So that’s pretty much the context of the story, and what lead to the current events, where Trevor our reluctant hero is currently embarked in. I gotta say the characterization is top notch, and it doesn’t end with Dracula.Our hero’s motivations and journey are also fleshed out, because as it turns out Trevor doesn’t initially want to do anything with it. He’s first shown to be a drunk mess, despite the fact that he comes from a noble house, the Belmonts. But that is due to once again the interference of the Church, who after relying on the Belmonts for years to protect them from monsters and creatures like Dracula, decided to excommunicate them on ground they dabbled in magic pretty much...Which is as dumb as pissing off Dracula. So with his house in ruins, Trevor pretty much sunk into alcoholism, which is a pretty interesting take on his character. He’s all around very different from his character in Curse of Darkness, who is overall very serious.

Instead here Trevor is portrayed as being sarcastic and witty, and there’s a good amount of comedy involving him, mainly due to the fact that he’s a drunk and out of practice. So his initial motivations aren’t anything grand, and overall he just doesn’t want to get involved with the Dracula drama. He just wants some booze and something to eat. But soon he starts to care, after his encounter with the speakers.

After making it to a town that is plagued by raids of  Dracula’s minions he meets the Speakers, a band of nomadic story tellers who pass their wisdom orally. Because he’s a Belmont, he had previous knowledge of such a group, and unfortunately for them, the Church (again) plans to pin down the onslaught by Dracula’s forces on them, because they happen to use magic...sigh. The Church are even bigger villains than Dracula himself, they fucked over pretty much everyone. Trevor bides them to leave town, but they can’t, not until they retrieve the body of one of theirs, the grand daughter of their leader in the catacombs. As to why she ventured in the catacombs, it is to find the “Sleeping warrior” who is according to a prophecy, the one who will defeat Dracula.

So Trevor ventures in the catacombs to find her, and he saves Sypha from the Cyclops, yay. While she’s grateful, she doesn’t think too highly of Trevor, and who could blame her, since at this point he won’t do anything about this situation. But with Sypha’s and the speakers help, who won’t abandon the city despite the fact that the mob lead by the Church is after them, he comes to realize that it is his duty as a Belmont to stop Dracula. 

After that they both end up in the catacombs again after trying to run from the mob and confronting Dracula’s minions in one of the best action scenes of the season. While they keep falling in the catacombs they end up encountering the “Sleeping warrior” who turns out to be a vampire, and none other than Alucard, Dracula’s son. Of course Trevor and him would come to fight since for the former it is likely Alucard is Dracula and is a vampire and thus can’t be trusted, and for the latter it is more of a test to see if Trevor is worthy.Trevor manages to kick Alucard’s sweet ass on more than one occasion thanks to his consecrated whip and weapon of choice, the Vampire Killer which is very effective against vampires. But Alucard manages to come on top thanks to his superior swordsmanship . In the end both of them stop fighting after Trevor managed to stab Alucard a few times, and Sypha threatens to burn Alucard’s precious little head if he tries to bite Trevor.

Either way they all agree to stop fighting, and Alucard announces that the other 2 passed the test, that is supposed to show if they’re worthy to be his companions and aid him in killing his own father Dracula....

So through 4 episodes, the length of the first season,  we get Trevor’s character arc, who starts as a reluctant hero but slowly comes around to realize that it is his mission to protect humans from people like Dracula. And characters like Sypha played a big role in it.Alucard comes along to gather all of them and aid them in defeating his own father. So in terms of characterization I have no complaint whatsoever, the showrunners really did flesh them out well. 

Another reason for me to like Trevor as a character is the fact that he’s voiced by Richard Armitage, who is a great actor (if you haven’t watched the Crucible go watch it now) and has an amazing voice...and I have a crush on him, but what’s new? I have a crush on 90% of Hollywood actors XD. In fact the original english dub (so weird to say that) has an amazing cast, even though I find it a bit odd that characters from Wallachia would have a British accent....But that’s how things are, and Sypha and the speakers have a Spanish accent, which I guess means they’re from Spain (Sypha Belnades) and are the equivalent of Romani people. Yeah I guess that makes sense.

So the story is very well written, they managed to also portray the characters in a realistic light. The voice acting is also great. But what about the actual animation? I’ll let you judge by yourself.

It is surprisingly good. In fact it’s better than fucking Berserk 2016/17. That one barely qualifies as animation. To me this series is a homage to 2D and during the very important scenes, mainly action scenes, it literally has some of the best animation I’ve seen in a while. The art style is also rather manga-ish and to me a bit reminiscent of Ayami Kojima’s style which is very feminine and graceful.

The action is top notch, and the Trevor vs Alucard fight really lived to the hype. It wasn’t as one sided as I thought it would be, since Alucard is supposed to be overpowered, and while he is portrayed as such with him being able to teleport thanks to the hidden ability of the Alucard sword, he still has the basic weakness of vampires to the Vampire Killer. Dracula is also overpowered since he’s able to appear in fire pretty much everywhere at will.And the action scenes are carried by the quality animation and choregraphy.

My only complaint is that the music is forgettable, it has none of the classic feel of the video game franchise. It uses a lot of synth tunes, which makes it really generic. The endings do feature a song that somewhat feels gothic, with all the choir singing, but it’s nowhere close to the quality of the music from the games. I personally pictured the music to be like the score from Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. It could be a mix of classic instruments and more synthetic sounds, but alas none of that here. So that’s my main gripe with it, and it is somewhat important since CV is known mainly for its music.

So overall really impressed with this series and I totally recommand watching it. . It’s short, only 4 episodes though which I guess is made on purpose.Perhaps Netflix wanted to test the waters first and see how this series does. But fear not my Crestfallen children, a second season has been greenlit that should come out in 2018 and it will feature double the amount of episodes. And I’m more than willing to wait till 2018 as long as they can keep the same quality of storytelling and animation. And maybe they can also improve on the music while they’re at it.Also I’d be interested in seeing them doing a third season, and maybe also feature the events of Curse of darkness, even though the characters are less memorable and iconic compared to the CV III trio (since Grant isn’t here apparently). And maybe even beyond.

I just don’t want it to end. XD

Foodie Friday: Ireland & Scotland Edition

Although places like England, Ireland and Scotland aren’t known for their amazing food, I had some great meals during my spring vacation across the pond, especially in Ireland and Scotland. Here are six great meals I had as I explored the food and culture, Ireland and Scotland has to offer. Time to expand your mind and your palate on this Foodie Friday!

IRELAND

When I was in Ireland, I went on two bus tours, one to the Cliffs of Moher, the other to Blarney Castle. On these scheduled stops I went and got lunches consisting of traditional Irish food. On the Dublin Tour Company’s trip to the Cliffs of Moher, we stopped in Doolin, Ireland for lunch at Gus O’Connor (Photo A). This restaurant is known for their seafood chowder, which I ordered. The chowder was very rich, warm and filling, perfect for the windy and rainy day we had been experiencing.

On the second bus tour, through Paddywagon Tours, to Blarney Castle, after visiting the castle I got a quick lunch in one of the restaurants in town. I got the Blarney beef stew and hash (mashed potatoes) (Photo B). It was delicious, I wish I had more time to sit down and enjoy my meal, but I had to rush and catch my bus. It was probably the best beef stew I have ever had in my life.

The last meal I had in Ireland was a traditional Irish breakfast at Mannings, which was recommended to me by a friend of my Airbnb host, who was kind enough to drive me into town. Mannings, she said is a very popular place to get a real, traditional Irish breakfast because it’s been around for 60 years! Back in the day, a lot of factory workers would come here to get a big hearty breakfast, and a lot of them still do. A traditional Irish breakfast consists of: toast and butter, sausage and bacon, eggs (poached or scrambled), fried tomatoes and mushrooms and black pudding, which is a blood sausage popular in Ireland and Great Britain (Photo C). The traditional Irish breakfast, was good, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the black pudding!

SCOTLAND

When I arrived in Glasgow, a lot of the museums and tourist sites were closed for the day, so I ended up splurging on my dinner. I went to Stravaigin, which was recommended to me by my Airbnb host, and it was great. The service was great, and very friendly, the atmosphere was really chill, and the food was delicious at an affordable price. I just got the fish and chips, but I also tried haggis, a traditional Scottish dish (Photos D & E). Similar to black pudding, haggis is made out of sheep’s pluck (heart, liver, lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices and salt. Traditionally it is encased in the animal’s stomach however now it is often in an artificial casing instead. The haggis tasted just like lamb to me, however I didn’t like the texture created by the oats. But I think you should always try the food of a certain country or culture, even if you might not like it! When in Rome (or in this case Glasgow)!

I had two amazing meals in Edinburgh, for a quick lunch before my Sandeman’s tour I went to The Thistle Stop Cafe which is a super small cafe located on the main street on the way to the castle. I didn’t get anything too extravagant, just a cheese and tomato toastie, earl grey tea and some scones and jelly (Photo F). The perfect meal to keep me going through the day, at a great price.

After my Sandeman’s free walking tour, I asked Angus for a dinner recommendation. I wasn’t super hungry so I just wanted some place I could get something small, and warm up and recharge before the Dark Sides Tour in a few hours. Angus recommended that I go to the Southern Cross Cafe, which was perfect. I ordered one of my favorite dishes, a warm goat cheese salad and then got coconut cake for dessert (Photo G). Southern Cross Cafe was a great place to grab a light meal, charge my phone and have a warm cup of tea. Plus, the music there was on point!

Although, I am only mentioning meals that I had in Ireland and Scotland, England does have some great restaurants too (Photos H & I)! A lot of my friends and my relatives took me out for dinner however, so I didn’t get to catch the names of many of those restaurants. My advice for finding a place to eat at, always look at the menu before hand, that way you’re certain that you’ll find something you want to eat at the price you want to pay! Bien que les lieux comme Angleterre, Irlande, et Écosse ne soient pas très connu pour les repas très superbs, j’ai mangé des grands repas pendant mes vacances de printemps au-dessus du etang, particulièrement en Irlande et Écosse. Ici, sont six délicieux repas j’avais depuis j’ai explorer les aliments et la culture d’Irlande et d'Écosse qui ils offrent. C’est le temps pour gonfler votre esprit et votre palais dans ce post de «Foodie Friday».

IRLANDE

Quand j’ai visité Irlande, j’ai pris deux voyages organisés par le bus, une à les falaises de Moher et l’autre au Château de Blarney. Dans les arrêts programme, nous sommes allées pour le déjeuner et manger les repas très traditionnels et irlandais. Dans le Dublin Tour Company’s voyage aux les falaises de Moher, nous nous sommes arrêtées à Doolin, Irlande pour le déjeuner à Gus O’Connor (Photo A). Ce restaurant est connu pour leur épaisse de la mer, qui j’ai mangé. L'épaisse est très riche, chaud, et nourrissant, parfait pour un jour avec beaucoup du vent et de la pluie, que nous avions expérimenté.

Dans le deuxième voyage organisé, par Paddywagon, au Château de Blarney, après j’ai visité le château, j’ai mangé très vite au restaurant dans la ville. Angus m’a recommandé le Southern Cross Cafe, était parfait, J’ai mangé l'un de mes plats préférés, un salade avec le chèvre chaud et aussi une part de gâteau à la noix de coco pour la dessert (Photo G).
