a redesign of my steven universe peridot oc! i made this gal wayyy before the show peridot was introduced, so i've been reluctant to redesign her since her old design feels so iconic to me, but i finally gave it a shot and tbh i really like it. also went ahead and made her a first form to show what she looked like as a regular peridot before making her own form :3

Ooo, well, that is certainly an interesting an unenviable situation to be in!

Here, it really is about a matter of 'degree'. Compared to Espala, is Ritania a second rate but still significant naval power with enough industry and economic ability to its name, or is it entirely outclassed?

If the former, it might be possible for the Ritanians to directly raise its own 'battle fleet' along the same lines of the Espalan fleet you've previously outlined, and to compete with it directly but at a smaller scale. As long as the disparity in 'strength' isn't too great, especially when accounting for any need for Espala to disperse its fleet across multiple duties, the security of Ritania's territory can be guaranteed. Indeed, if its allies naval presence can draw away enough of the Espalan navy, the Ritanian's, able to concentrate in one area, might achieve local 'control of the sea'*. Add in shrewd methods and tactics, professional crews, and good commanders, and history shows that any nominally outgunned and out-tonnaged fleet can at least hold their own.

If, however, Ritania has barely a fleet to its name and lacks the ability to make one, while at the same time facing dire risks of the invasion of its own territory or the severing of its sea lines of communication, it might opt to take a more 'guerilla' approach to naval warfare. In our own history, a strategic concept known as the 'Jeune Ecole' seems to fit the bill quite well. Created by French theorists as a way to resist the inevitably more capable Royal Navy, it would have eschewed the construction of any capital ships - which would only have been outgunned by the inevitably greater number of British ships - and instead advocated for a sizeable fleet of fast 'torpedo boats' and similar small craft to defend the coast and near ocean at a far cheaper price for similar effectiveness, while fast and long ranged 'cruisers' roamed the high seas to harass enemy merchant shipping while avoiding a major engagement. This would, hypothetically, secure the homeland at the cost of ceding control of the seas to the opposition, while still dealing some economic damage to them, all at a lower price tag.

Now that I've gone and written all that, I should probably note that this was mostly a description of some ideas to note when designing a fleet. Having considered their geography, finances, industrial capacity, and the imagined intentions of the Espalans, it finally falls to the Ritanians to decide what they want out of a navy, what kind of navy they think they ought to build, and how they intend on using it when war comes to the seas.

I also realise that I technically haven't answered your question, since I didn't mention any specific tactics I'd suggest for them... that, may have to wait for later. To help with answering the question of what a hypothetical naval engagement between Ritania and Espala might look like, here's one more question and a 'no rush' disclaimer to answering them!

What methods exist on either side to communicate between ships, and how could environmental / enemy factors influence them?

Reading the Jutland book, I get the sense that fleet wide communication is incredibly damn important, and fucking it up is the sort of thing that turns great victories into bitter lost opportunities and an unfortunate reputation that lasts through history.

* About the whole 'sea control' thing, it's a bit of naval theory lingo I picked up after way too much Drachinifel. I think, at least, that it's attributed to Mahan, more or less the godfather of modern naval strategy, who suggested that the utmost purpose of a Navy was to secure its nation's access to the sea and with it access to foreign markets and goods, and that a Navy who could do so while denying the same to its adversary held 'control of the sea'. Now, that's just the sparknotes since I'm not exactly a formal student of naval theory, but I find this sorta thing interesting! The way that the prevailing theories of an era shape decision making like this - for example, the Kaiser's decision to build up the High Seas Fleet was supposedly based of Mahan's theories - attracts me, and I've tried to come up with some in the 12 Worlds myself. It's not gone well.

I'll lore dump a bit abt Jhomara the Depraved Perfumer, since they mostly exist purely in my brain rn

Jhomara ,born in Leyndell as daughter to a whore and an unwanting father, she was discreetly abandoned in the shunning grounds as a baby; in hopes her existence was forgotten. Unfortunately for her father, who felt his reputation would tarnish from having a child, she lived and was raised under the care of a fellow omen who called herself Inenphaye. She was taught about the Lands Between and the Erdtree, and fostered a deep hate for the golden order. She also, developed a weird fixation on the demigods, specifically on the idea that their blood could grant divinity.

Then, when Inenphaye had inevitably died, she found herself wandering astray. A completely savage ,manipulatable, yet highly intelligent child emerged on the streets of Leyndell around the time of the shattering; she was perfect as cannon fodder, and was taught the ways of perfumers. It didn't take her long to figure out whose side she was fighting on, and it didn't take her long to fight against them.

She now wanders astray once more with only one goal in mind, to drink the blood of the divine.
