Sukuna's You Pronouns

Someone pointed out that Sukuna doesn't exclusively use the you pronoun Kisama for Gojo in the tags as a response to this post. Sukuna also uses it for Kashimo.

This prompted me to go back and double-check his you pronoun usage with everyone since I focused on people he openly likes (Gojo, Higurama, Jogo, Megumi, Maki, Uraume).

And that, of course, spiraled out of control. Please enjoy my findings. (Someone made a formal response to this post if you want an alternate perspective.)

Preface

Here's a shorthand for how Sukuna addresses characters with you pronouns. Not when he's speaking about them to other people, but when talking to them directly.

No You Pronouns: Haruta, Higurama, Kenjaku, Kusakabe, Mahito, Miguel, Ui Ui, Uraume

Omae: Finger Bearer, Gojo, Jogo, Mahoraga, Maki, Mimiko/Nanako, Megumi, Ryu, Yorozu, Yuji, Yuta

Kisama: Gojo, Kashimo, Yorozu

What does 'no you pronouns' mean?

Not using you pronouns or someone's name is the most polite and formal way to go about addressing someone in Japanese. Using you pronouns invites certain assumptions about the relationship between the speaker and the addressee. In most cases it's informal or rude. Sukuna going out of his way not to use pronouns for someone suggests he views them with some amount of respect. (Except for Haruta. To this day, this is the only character Sukuna has called trash.)

What does Omae and Kisama mean?

お前 (Omae), often written as オマエ in JJK, is a masculine, informal, and indicates the speaker's higher status to the addressee. It can also be used as a causal you between peers of equal standing (Gojo, Yuji, and Megumi use Omae for everyone in this way).

There is a third use in the context of love. It's the male equivalent of あなた (Anata aka the wife pronoun you could translate as "You, Dear") when used by a man to their lover. This usage seems to have conflicted usage irl. It might be too intimate or informal depending on the relationship. (Basically it pisses some people off or is a massive turn on.)

貴様 (Kisama) is historically formal and respectful, and modernly an extremely informal and hostile insult that is far more rude than Omae.

Which way does Sukuna mean his Omaes and Kisamas? Well, context is everything. He is 1,000 years old, rude as hell, and a hater. In most instances, he means the rude version. Trying to figure out when he's not being a bastard is the hard part and what I'm interested in.

Why does this matter?

Pronouns in Japanese indicate how the speaker views themself and how they view their relationship to the addressee. In other words, pronoun usage in Japanese carries characterization that gets lost in translation. I'm trying to figure out Sukuna's internal logic and his particular brand of communication so this is a helpful thing to consider.

For example, when Gojo first trash talks Sukuna out of the box, Uraume gets pissed and insults him. And guess what they use as the insult—Kisama.

I put this side by side with an English translation for context. If you noticed, there is no kanji for "Swine" in the raws. That was added in by the localization to carry over the tone of the original. Since English doesn't have a you (derogatory), this is where localizations will vary the greatest. To get across the hostility of Kisama, translators will add extra things with or without the creator's direction for their language's audience.

Uraume is extremely polite to Sukuna and uses high level vocabulary in Japanese. The only time their politeness drops is when they're being hostile (especially with Kenjaku), but their elegant manner of speech doesn't deteriorate with their mood. In my opinion, "Swine" is a great word to pick that carries that insulting, yet dignified pattern of speech. Someone less snobby might use pig.

Gojo replies by referring to Uraume with てめえ (Temee) which is even more rude than Kisama. (Sometimes this you is spelled as てまえ (Temae) instead.)

This stands out because Gojo either uses Omae (friends and enemies), no you pronouns (everyone), or 君 Kimi (students—this one is cute because it's an affectionate way to dote on your juniors). (Gojo also exclusively uses アンタ Anta with Toji but that deserves its own post.) Not just that, but he ends his sentence with だよ (Dayo). This is a combination of the particles だ (Da) and よ (Yo) that emphasizes what ever the speaker is saying without respect.

Both TCBsans and Viz localize this as "Who are you?" That's a direct translation that in my opinion doesn't get across how pissed Gojo is. If it were up to me, I think it would be better as "Who the FUCK are you?"

Anyways I hope this explains why I'm so obsessed with how Sukuna uses you pronouns. There's characterization and tone that translators may or may not pick up on. Figuring out why Sukuna uses certain yous helps with understanding how he views others.

Omae

As you saw in the list, Sukuna uses Omae for just about everyone. It ranges from people he openly hates (Yuji) to characters he massively respects (Mahoraga). The easy way to resolve this is to assume that Sukuna looks down on everyone so that's what he means at all times.

I don't think that's the case. Sukuna is a very complex character with weird motivations that don't fit neatly into black/white boxes. Reading his words a single way at all times seems to be a disservice to him. So I'll be presenting my theories on what determines the meaning of Sukuna's Omae.

Omae (Deragatory)

Itadori Yuji

When Sukuna uses Omae for Yuji, it's coupled by insults. That's not surprising, Sukuna despises Yuji so much that he's devoted a good deal of his time to making his poor little nephew suffer. I can confidently say the Omaes are derogatory. Here is one of many instances.

No matter how angry Sukuna gets at Yuji, he has never deviated from Omae. This is interesting to me because the more hostile and ruder you pronouns Kisama and Temae/Temee exist. In fact, Yuji uses Temee for Sukuna most of the time. And he uses Temee for no one else, not even Mahito, who gets Omae like Yuji’s friends. This special pronoun usage for Sukuna shows how much Yuji hates him compared to any other character.

Anyways, this is a good starting point for determining how he means Omae. When Sukuna means Omae in a rude way, it'll be combined with an insult and/or accompanied by an aggravated facial expression. He also will avoid addressing the character by name and instead use nomers (such as Brat) externally and internally.

Finger Bearer

Despite trying to befriend this curse for the sole purpose of bullying children, Sukuna doesn’t show the Finger Bearer a lot of respect. He tries to kill it, insults it at every turn, and gives it a few nasty faces for attacking him. It’s no surprise he uses Omae for this thing.

He treats this curse like he treats Yuji, which is a pretty good sign that the Omae usage is disrespectful. This is also helps establish a pattern for Sukuna’s behavior when he chooses to engage with other beings. It should be noted that he calls the Finger Bearer an insect and refuses to address it by anything that's dignified.

Hasaba Mimiko & Nanako

Sukuna addresses Mimiko and Nanako as you kids and with Omae for bringing him a finger. He also demands they bow before him to acknowledge just how far beneath him they are.

He doesn’t ask for their names and he kills them the second he finds them too annoying. There’s a clear lack of respect for the twins here that makes the Omae appear to be very deragatory.

Jogo

Jogo starts in the same category as Mimiko wnd Nanako. That much is obvious with Sukuna cutting off the top of his head for mot bowing low enough. Sukuna uses Omae to both address and insult him, so it can be assumed he’s being deragatory.

But what separates Jogo from everyone on this Derogatory Omae list, was his fight changing how Sukuna viewed him and therefore the usage of Omae.

Omae (Complimentary)

Jogo

Jogo is never addressed by name, Sukuna never asks for it and refers to him as Cursed Spirit throughout their interactions. This seems more in line with something Sukuna does to someone he dislikes, however, he bothered with seeing Jogo off into the afterlife to gain a better understanding of him.

When Sukuna learns that Jogo and his friends wanted to become human, he doesn’t mock their dream but their methodology. The criticisms he levies at Jogo are constructive. If Jogo wanted to obtain his goals he should’ve been more like Gojo and burned everything to the ground, etc.

Sukuna goes onto complimenting Jogo using Omae, ending on the iconic, “Stand proud, you’re strong.”

If this is enough to move Jogo to tears, the Omae here unlikely to be meant as something rude. This shows that Sukuna is capable of using Omae in a friendly manner and that the intent behind it can change with the same character over time.

Fushiguro Megumi

Before Sukuna realizes Megumi's potential with Mahoraga he is still quite friendly with him compared to other characters. (As friendly as you can get beating the life out of someone that is.) He compliments his Cursed Technique (CT) and shows interest in his internal logical as he tries to teach him how to be a better sorcerer. Omae is used as he does this.

When he senses Mahoraga, he starts calling Megumi by his full name, which is the most respectful way to directly address someone in Japanese. I'm pretty sure the Omae he uses from the start is well-meaning. It should be noted that he stops using you pronouns for Megumi after this, upping the ante when it comes to showing respect for him. (Outside of murdering his sister and caretaker with his body you know.)

Mahoraga

When Sukuna first fights Mahoraga, he avoids using you pronouns entirely. He has fun and very much values its strength so this is definitely a show of respect. The only time Sukuna uses a you pronoun for Mahoraga is during his fight with Gojo. He uses Omae after addressing Mahoraga by name. "You (Omae) are not Fushiguro Megumi's shadow, you're mine."

I'm pretty confident the Omae is friendly here, albeit very possessive. It almost reads like Sukuna's composure slightly breaking to show his excitement. His manner of speech does seem to get rougher the more into a fight he gets, and so far the wildest we've seen him is with Mahoraga and Maki.

Zenin Maki

Sukuna has yet to address Maki by name. He calls her The Woman when thinks about her or speaks of her to other people. However, since meeting her in Ch 215, he has always been impressed with her. Sukuna has not once insulted her prowess and has exclusively complimented her, just like Mahoraga. He dodges using you pronouns with her, a sign of respect, until he starts flipping out over her in Ch 253.

Similar to Mahoraga, his excitement appears to have made his manner of speech deteriorate. Combined with those expressions, the Omae usage here can’t possibly be coming from a place of hatred. Sukuna seems to like people similar to himself and Maki did “eat” her twin to gain power. She rejected her fate as a twin to survive. I think Sukuna recognizes that and admires it immensely.

Omae (Unknown)

Ishigori Ryu

When Sukuna first tries to kill Ryu, he doesn’t die. This impresses him so much that he apologizes for taking him lightly. The Omae he uses while doing this is probably complimentary.

However, Sukuna is kind of a dick and not above sarcasm. He doesn’t ask for Ryu’s name and doesn’t bother watching him die like he does with most other named characters. And if you noticed, he tried cutting him into 3 pieces like he did with the Finger Bearer to gauge his strength. That cursed spirit is barely above Yuji on Sukuna’s tolerance scale. I’m not sure if he’s being genuine here.

Okkotsu Yuta

Before Yuta takes over Gojo’s body, Sukuna doesn’t seem impressed with him. He doesn’t address him by name and uses the nomer Cursed Brat when thinking of him. Being called a Brat puts him on the same level as Yuji. I think the Omae here is derogatory.

He does seem to enjoy fighting Rika so there’s a little more respect than what he has for Yuji. But prior to Ch 261? I think he means it in a rude way.

Similar to Ryu, Yuta got Sukuna to apologize to him after impressing him. But unlike Ryu, Sukuna makes direct eye contact with Yuta and addresses him by name. The excitement on his face is almost identical to what he had for Maki. If Sukuna continues to use Omae for Yuta, it will be complementary. Especially since his internal dialogue now uses Okkotsu Yuta in the same way he uses Fushiguro Megumi.

For reasons I’ll get into, there’s also a strong chance Sukuna might swap to Kisama for Yuta. And if he does, it’ll be very significant.

Kisama

In a different post, I proposed that because Sukuna is old and hates Yuji the most, who he exclusively uses Omae with, that his usage of Kisama with Gojo is the formal version. But after learning that Sukuna uses Kisama with Yorozu and Kashimo, I want to reevaluate that interpretation.

Uraume using Kisama as an insult towards Gojo means that Sukuna is aware of and therefore capable of using the polite and hostile versions. If this is because of vessel memories or both meanings being present in Heian era I don't know. Regardless, just like Omae, additional context will be needed to determine which way he means it.

Yorozu

That's surprising, Sukuna is using Kisama with Yorozu when he has otherwise demonstrated that his usage of it with Gojo is formal. Does that mean he secretly likes her? Sukuna outwardly despises Yorozu, so it wouldn't be wrong to read his Kisama with her as hostile. Does that mean he hates her more than Yuji? Does that mean he hates Gojo?

Let's start with how he greets her. Sukuna initially uses Omae and addresses Yorozu by her name with a slight smile. All signs that his Omae is further towards friendliness than hostility even though he's here to kill her. (Sukuna communicates with violence this is normal for him.)

But the moment she brings up love? Sukuna swaps to Kisama. He uses it to insult her love too.

Sukuna is not showing respect here, he is actively being hostile with this use of Kisama. Of all characters, Yorozu would be the one who reads into Sukuna's words the most if it would frame things more romantically. The fact she sees this pronoun change as a part of the rejection and pursues him harder further supports this reading.

As she's dying Sukuna switches back to Omae. This can be read as him believing he's effectively told Yorozu to piss off with the love talk and is being a little nicer as she passes. It wouldn't be out of character for him to do this.

Still, he's insulting her CT and lack of battle intellect. She's definitely not amongst the likes of Jogo. Yorozu reads into his parting words as affection anyways and this is how Sukuna feels about that.

I'm comfortable marking down Sukuna's use of Kisama with Yorozu as one of disrespect, and Omae as slightly derogatory.

Kashimo

For Kashimo, Sukuna exclusively uses Kisama when addressing him. Now that would seem a bit sus given the exclusivity, but once again, context is everything. What separates Kashimo from everyone else he uses Kisama with is Sukuna's refusal to know or even speak his name. And if he checked Culling Game player names prior as a participant, this is pretty significant.

When Sukuna really likes someone, he addresses them by their full name, if possible. In fact, he pauses his fight with Higuruma to ensure he got his name correctly.

No such thing occurs for Kashimo. Additionally, he brings up love, which Yorozu has established as something that makes Sukuna more hostile. His entire love speech uses nothing but Kisama and Sukuna goes from cordial to visibly irritated. There's a strong chance he meant it in the piss off way.

As an aside, Kashimo first addresses Sukuna with Omae at the start of their battle and switches to あんた (Anta) when they discuss love and satisfaction 満足 (Manzoku).

Now this fascinates me because Anta is a contraction of Anata. It usually indicates the lack of class in the speaker, but is otherwise used just like Anata. Since Kashimo is talking about love and uses Omae for everyone else, this reads as Kashimo hitting on Sukuna. (In other words: Are you, dear, satisfied?)

And this is Sukuna's response to that.

Rejection.

I'm mostly comfortable marking this down as a hostile use of Kisama. Not sure if this means Sukuna hates Kashimo more than Yuji though. They did have a civilized conversation that wasn't exclusively insults. The worst Sukuna called him was greedy, and he briefly expressed annoyance with the loudness of his CT. It’s not like Yorozu where he mocked every aspect of it and her love to the end. He humored the loved talk even though it seemed to make him miserable. Not really sure what to do with this.

Gojo Satoru

Well, now that I know Sukuna is aware of the hostile meaning, there is a good chance when he promised to kill Gojo he meant it in the piss off way for humiliating him earlier. He didn't bother addressing Gojo by his full name despite knowing it at that point.

If Jogo showed us that Sukuna’s use of Omae can change over time, this means that his use of Kisama is capable of evolving too. That being said, it is still pretty confusing when it comes to Gojo because Sukuna combines his hostile and friendly mannerisms at the same time.

The Gojo fish speech showcases this frankly bizarre contradiction the best. He addresses Gojo by his full name and then insults him for being a nameless fish with the use of Kisama.

Prior to this scene, Sukuna has been thinking of him and speaking to other characters of him as Gojo Satoru. When Sukuna thinks about Yuji? His inner dialogue keeps calling him Brat. Maki, who he likes, is just The Woman (so far). If someone is nameless to Sukuna, they stay just that—nameless. He’s blatantly lying about how he views Gojo here and I have no idea why.

What’s even weirder is that for a single instance, Sukuna swaps to Omae for Gojo during their fight. The usage of Omae appears to be playful in this context as Sukuna uses an English word alongside it.

If you didn't know, it's cool to use English words in Japanese. Randomly sprinkling them in is something youths like to do a lot. Gojo himself is one of the people who does this. Not just in normal speech, but specifically when he’s engaging in “play” with other sorcerers.

What’s weird about Sukuna doing this to Gojo is the fact that English didn’t make it to Japan until the 1600s. Sukuna very much speaks like a weird out of touch old man from the wrong century. To my knowledge, (correct me if I’m wrong) he hasn’t used English like this prior.

Omae is the go-to you pronoun Gojo uses for most people. He also uses English when engaging in sorcery “play”. This almost seems like Sukuna is mimicking Gojo’s style of speech as either a form of flattery or as an insult (most likely flattery given that he is still copying Gojo's moves obsessively). Regardless, Gojo seems to pick up on Sukuna being playful since this is his response.

From his perspective, the guy calling him Kisama (aka you bastard) has started calling him Omae (you, but neutral), which would come across as Sukuna deliberately being more respectful towards him. It seems to put Gojo in such a good mood that loverboy Kashimo looks at this and goes:

Which starts to make me wonder. Did Sukuna mean Omae in the Anata way? After all, the previous chapter ended on this:

It ended on Sukuna thinking of Gojo as Anata. This fight can be framed as a date too, so it’s really sus that Sukuna swapped to Omae for an event that can be read as romantic.

The only reason I'm looking so closely at this usage is because it's sandwiched between Kisamas. It stands out enough for Gojo of all people to notice. To him it signified that Sukuna’s view of him had changed. That probably means this Omae is telling us something about Sukuna’s character.

Surrounding this Omae is the use of Kisama in the kill context a total of 8 times. Either as "I'm going to kill you." or "This is how I killed you." (Fish speech not included in this collage.)

What stands out to me compared to other characters is how happy Sukuna looks while describing how he’ll get past Infinity. It’s so persistent and detailed sometimes... (To be fair he did spend 6 months on this.)

The use of Kisama with "You cleared my skies." is definitely the respectful way. He addresses Gojo by name with a happy expression while showering him in praise.

The rest of the Kisamas? I don’t know. You could read it either way and it's not being used in the same way for Yorozu and Kashimo. The takeaway here is that Sukuna doesn’t usually use this pronoun, which means it’s significant when he does.

What did Sukuna mean by this?

The problem, once again, is Sukuna priming others to read him a certain way. Way back when Sukuna and Gojo first met? Probably hostile. During their rematch? Kisama was coupled with contradictory insults and/or death threats up until the very last second. And that still doesn’t explain the Omae.

He only used Kisama for Kashimo. Why did he briefly swap to Omae for Gojo? He swapped to Omae for Yorozu as she died. Why did he swap in the middle of their fight instead of the end for Gojo?

And this still doesn't address the massive elephant in the room—Sukuna only using Kisama for Yorozu and Kashimo because they had the audacity to bring up love to him. Gojo didn't try to do that. Not once. The only time the word "love" has explicitly come out of his mouth to another character was when he told Yuta love was the most twisted curse of all. What does this mean? Is this implying Sukuna has associated Gojo with love from the start? Am I reading too much into this pronoun usage?

One of the most prominent themes of JJK is love being a curse. Whether its Yuji's love for other people driving him forward after they die or Gojo's love for Geto screwing everything up. Yuta's entire deal is him cursing a loved one into a semi-immortal monster creature. It would not be out of the ballpark to have the main antagonist motivated by a very fudged up obsessive love in the same way Kenjaku's parental love speedruns Mommy and Daddy issues at the same time.

Yuta fighting Sukuna in Gojo’s body is significant for all these reasons. Sukuna is either going to stick to Omae, or he’s going to start using Kisama. With how happy he is at seeing Yugo, it’ll be meant positively.

If he keeps using Omae that’s not too weird. That’s normal Sukuna behavior. If he swaps to Kisama when it has been strongly suggested that in 2/3 instances it’s in relation to love… I’m going to be sus on why he’s using it for The Love is the Most Twisted Curse of All Poster Child, Yuta, who is piloting Gojo’s body.

“Your husband has been kinda annoying lately,” Kisame comments as he walks through the village with you, and you look up at the much taller man with interest as you process the title that had been bestowed upon your lover. Husband? Last you checked you hadn’t taken Uchiha as a surname nor had Itachi asked if you would, so where did Kisame get that you were married?

“Since when are we married?”

“You basically are at this point. Calling him your boyfriend feels too juvenile, and it’s been like a year? Two years? Might as well be married.” The reasoning is interesting, but you aren’t going to argue with a swordsman who has made up his mind. Kisame could be more stubborn than Itachi depending on the topic, and you could tell this would be one of those topics even if it felt odd that he cared so much. “How long has it been anyway?”

“Almost four years since I left, and a little over two since Itachi and I discussed our feelings.”

“And he basically moved in with you.”

“Is there a point you’re trying to make with this, Kisame?”

“He doesn’t seem different to you these days? You’d notice easily, I’m sure.” 

“No, he seems like he always does. What are you noticing?”

“He feels colder to me. Not that he’s a ray of sunshine normally, but he’s been off. Distant.”

That was concerning. He had been a bit standoffish this morning, but you assumed that he was just tired and went about your morning. Everything else had seemed to be normal, maybe he was trying to keep you from worrying. He did tend to protect your feelings more than was probably wise, given the overall situation that was your life together. 

“I’ll keep an eye on him. You know how he is, though.”

“Yeah, but I know he talks to you more.”

That was fair. Your relationship with him was different from the relationship he had with Kisame (who you would argue was Itachi’s first wife). More emotionally open, which was to be expected considering the nature of your relationship, so Itachi was more likely to talk to you than to anyone else if something was bothering him. But there was a need to protect you that Itachi had; not from hard inevitable truths but from the things that your lover felt weren’t for you to concern yourself with.

“I’ll see what I can figure out. No promises on intel, though.”

“I just don't want to deal with him moping around during our next mission. It’ll be a longer one.” 

“You guys got new orders?”

“He didn’t tell you? We leave tomorrow, a couple months out there looking for one of the tailed beasts.”

You were going to kill him, how could he not tell you he’d be leaving for so long? It’s with that new information that you leave Kisame, letting him know that he might need a new partner sooner than anticipated as you turn down the side street that would get you home faster. You didn’t care that you’d left your umbrella in Kisame’s hand, didn’t care about the cold rain, you needed to yell at Itachi for not telling you something so important. 

“Why didn’t you tell me!?” is the first thing out of your mouth when you make it home, not bothering to look at your lover as he watches you from the kitchen. “I have to find out from Kisame that you’re leaving tomorrow and that you’ll be gone for months? What the hell were you thi-” 

You’re stopped mid-sentence when you turn, receiving two fingers gently jabbing your forehead and stopping you in your tracks. You hated how light on his feet Itachi could be, and how he always snuck up on you so easily since his chakra signature could easily overwhelm your senses when you were in close proximity that you couldn’t register how close he actually was. You also hated that two fingers to your forehead would always stop you in your tracks - that wasn’t fair. 

“I was going to tell you this morning,” he states, removing his fingers from your forehead and gently resting them against your bottom lip. “Then we got distracted, then you had plans with Kisame and I wanted to make sure you still went. It’ll be a longer mission than usual; but I’ll be coming home to you, so I didn’t think it was too big of a deal when I told you - just as long as I did. Have I not been gone longer?”

You don’t respond, not a huge fan of how effectively he silenced you with just two fingers and hating that he had a point. But you weren’t lovers on borrowed time when he’d been gone for eight months, you weren’t used to waking up beside him the last time he’d been gone for so long. He was a massive part of your life now, did he not think you’d feel this more deeply after everything you’d done together? 

“I only regret that you found out from Kisame and not myself.”

“You’re so frustrating sometimes,” you comment, gently nipping at his fingertips before you move away from him to get a towel for your wet hair. You could be mad all you wanted, but he wasn’t going to crack so you needed to move away from him so you could calm yourself down on your own. “I love you dearly, but you can be so narrow-sighted.”

“How so?”

“Sure, we’ve gone longer with being apart but the last time we weren’t like this and practically married like Kisame says. I didn’t know your brother was training to kill you and that you wanted it to happen, everything about the circumstances were different.” He’s watching you carefully as you squeeze your hair with a towel, and for the first time you aren’t feeling small by his stare. You were upset and you needed him to understand why you were so upset about this. Letting him make you feel small was not going to help you establish that point. “We don’t know if this’ll be the last time you leave me, we don’t know if you’ll come back, and I think I deserve more than just a couple hours of notice that you’ll be leaving for an extended period of time!”

If he didn’t get it after that, then you weren’t sure what you were going to do. For a man who was regarded as a genius, Itachi could be rather dense when it came to your feelings and perspective. He cared about your feelings, and you knew that, but he never fully understood them because you were living a different life than he was. You could play house all day, but that didn’t change the inevitable truth that you were playing different games. 

“I see.” Did he really? 

“I’m sorry.” Was he really?

Clearly you don’t look convinced; because he’s closing the distance between you slowly, almost as if he was trying to calm a wild animal, and that has you crossing your arms over your chest as you let out a huff. You were mad, not feral, and being regarded as some unpredictable animal was not helping to ease your irritated mood.

“You’re right, our circumstances are different now than they were before. You’re also correct in saying that I cannot guarantee that I’ll come home to you.” Firm hands cup your cheeks, ensuring that you’d continue to look at him as he spoke to you. “But I can promise that I’ll do my best, is that not enough?”

“I don’t think you fully understand, Itachi.”

“Understand that you’re not used to the realities of being a shinobi? That you have different emotional needs due to being raised differently than I was? Until now, I’d say you were correct. I don’t have a perfect grasp, and I never will, but I do understand that I’ve hurt you by not telling you sooner.”

“Shouldn’t take the sharingan to see that,” you mutter, feeling somewhat better but not totally appeased. You were still mad; no amount of soft tones, admission of guilt, or gentle touches would change that. Did he actually understand what your emotional needs were? 

“Please trust that my intent was never to cause you pain. I know now that I have and I am deeply sorry. I will learn from this mistake and communicate more timely with you when it involves my assignments.”

“Promise?”

“I promise.” And he’s leaning in to kiss your pout away, testing the waters for how affectionate you’d let him be while your face was still warm and limbs trembled beneath his touch with your anger. Something stops him as his nose brushed against yours, half lidded eyes searching your face for something that you’re not sure of - but you’re certain he hadn’t found it based on the way he pulls back.

“Did Kisame really say we’re married?”

“Called you my husband and said you were being annoyingly distant.” He was going to have to deal with that on his own, you had mostly handled your issue and didn’t want to fully involve yourself in his business with Kisame. You can tell that he’s thinking hard about that one; there were risks to saying out loud that Itachi Uchiha had a little wife (even if you weren’t technically married), most of them involving the younger Uchiha sibling but the other risk being that you could be used to get to the Akatsuki. You were always just as much a liability to the group as you were an asset, perhaps more of a liability considering your somewhat limited skillset.

“Am I safe?” Your question has him nodding immediately, which you trusted without doubt. If you weren’t safe he’d make sure that you were. 

“You’re very protected, Kisame is smarter than to say things like that to just anyone.” It’s your turn to nod, uncrossing your arms and placing them on his shoulders. It’s then that you realize he’d been shirtless this entire time, and you’re questioning just how attentive you truly were if you missed that. “Allow me to properly apologize for my lack of consideration.”

You have a good idea as to how he was going to do that so you nod, knowing that no amount of anger was going to have you denying yourself that pleasure - especially not before he was about to leave for months. 

“May I kiss you?”

You could make him work for it, Itachi was rather impatient when it came to receiving your affection and that could be very entertaining for you. You were still a bit upset, he’d understand needing to earn that affection, but he was so close and you couldn’t resist your own temptation standing in front of you.

“Maybe a cat?” His fingers are carefully drawing patterns on your side, being careful not to tickle you. You’re grateful that he’s still looking at the wall, because the tears in your eyes would not be easily hidden. To discuss a future that would never be was hard, especially with a man who you loved so much. “I always wanted a cat but my parents never let me have one.”

A Cat's Love - Part 3

You are with Itachi, and Kisame this time as you travel to a location your target had been located at. After days of traveling you managed to track down the village, and when your target would arrive. Your team arrives at an inn and checks into it for the night.

You, and Itachi were inside your motel room. Laying on the futon your eyes were closed as Itachi had asked you to use your jutsu. You came from a clan that could find a person while you slept. Jumping into dreams were another way you could get into a person's mind.

" I've located him." you say.

Itachi ,you, and Kisame regroup making a plan.

Once initiated there is a fight. Your target makes a remark on Itachi's appearance, but Itachi ignores the comments. Instead Itachi, and Kisame engage fighting with said target.

Your fighting one of your targets companions who is equipped with a similar jutsu to your target. You manage to beat him, but you are also targeted by his jutsu. Kisame, and Itachi have also dealt with your target.

" Oh.. " You say as your body changes. You don't turn fully into a cat like Itachi did previously. But your ears change into furry white cat ears, you grow a tail, You also gain fangs, and claws . Your nose also has a slight pink color to it.

After the ordeal Itachi helps you up and takes you back to the inn to take care of you. And now that both of the people responsible were dead, you both were stuck like this.

You both cuddle in bed and your tails are entwined. Itachi strokes your hair, and for the first time your hear yourself purring.

" Is that me ?" You ask as it surprised you.

" Yes, and its beautiful." Itachi tells you. You see Itachi smile as he hears your purrs and answers back with his own. Itachi gives you compliments , and shared his mouse with you.

" I love you." you say

" I love you too. " Itachi tells you as your ears twitch. Itachi helps wear your cat side down like you always had for him. To be honest it was entertaining for the both of you.

Your group is finally back at the hideout after days of traveling. On the way back Itachi took your group on a detour where something magical happens. Your not just Itachi's mate... Your now his wife.

After thinking about Itachi wanted a future with you. While being like this Itachi had been thinking about his life choices. Itachi thought of Sasuke and you. You both were the apples of Itachi's eye. While Sasuke was his brother. You were the light that lit up his darkness.

You had loved him despite of who or what he did.

" I want you to be my bride." Itachi told you on the way back. Itachi sat down and told you all that he was feeling. Maybe he didn't deserve a second chance after all that he had done. But you had lead him through the darkness.

Itachi wants to get you out of the Akatsuki. But that was a risky thing to try and accomplish. Yet being the beautiful man he is Itachi tells you to be prepared as both of you were going to leave the Akatsuki. But first you both needed to be patient.

" Before that would you marry me ?" Itachi asked you.

You tear up at his words, and Itachi's worried he said something wrong.

" No. I am just so happy. Yes.. Yes a thousand times over ! " You say leaping into his arms and knocking him to the ground. Itachi chuckles as your tail sways excitedly , and kisses you. Before you knew it you both had eloped

Sometime after the wedding you find out that you, and Itachi are expecting a child. You surprise Itachi with the news with breakfast that you prepared your self. Itachi can see the excitement as your ears are twitching, and your tail keeps twitching behind you.

" What are you so excited about this morning my kitten ?"

You smile, and giggle as he calls you your nickname.

" Well you just said it." you say.

" Hmm ?"

" I am excited for kittens. I am just hope you're ready to be a dad ?" You say and Itachi suddenly catches on to what you are trying to tell him.

" You're pregnant ?" Itachi asks his eyes wide, and his tail is standing up.

You then present a box to him that he opens finding a small cloak inside. Itachi's surprised as he looks up at you. You think he's about to cry hearing the news.

" Itachi ?"

Itachi suddenly pulls you forward hugging you tight.

" Thank you. " Itachi tells you while purring. But with this development Itachi is determined to get you, and the developing child inside you out of the Akatsuki.

oh, GLADLY! most of my elaborations are already (buried deeply) on my blog, but i’ll try to speed run “justkirithings.”

so, we all know all of the elemental nations have megaflora and megafauna, right? all the nasty critters in the forest of death, the giant animals on the island naruto and killer bee go to, etcetera etcetera. but we ALSO know that kirigakure is home to some of the weirdest motherfuckers, folks who push the envelope on what it means to be human: the hoshigaki clan, a clan who just? seem to be? sharks; the kaguya clan, who use their spines as nifty diy belts; and all kinds of other freaks. so if there can be a clan of kisames walking around, why not other sea-creature based clans? why shouldn’t kiri’s diversity, and its accursedness, not encompass the entirety of the sea’s wild and incredible depths?

and then we have the whole demon thing. outside of referring to the jinchuriki, demons are tied most to kirigakure and water country out of all of the villages and elemental nations. we have zabuza, called “the demon of the mist,” whose killing intent is, inexplicably, actually in the shape of a demonic creature with a face, horns, all of that. mangetsu is also called a demon. i know these mentions weren’t literal, but i think they suggest a comfort with — and, most notably, an admiration and aspiration to be — the demonic. kirigakure is also the only village we hear of that treats its jinchuuriki…. not Perfectly, but certainly better than the others. to me, that signals both a practicality and familiarity with demons and monstrosity that the other villages lack. so in my headcanons (all viewable by searching kiri on my blog, i believe!) kirigakure, and water country as a whole, has a wider conceptualization of humanity, because monstrosity is folded into it. meaning we can have folks from giant crab clans walking around and everyone is like, “oh hey dude, how’s the wife and kids?” and keeps it trucking. this is a rambling mess but i cannot explain my own thoughts once they’re written down so you’ll have better luck deciphering this codex by surfing my headcanons/kiri tag(s)!

Kisame X Mei

Q&A about one of my favorite Naruto ships, Pt1. 

1. Why I like this pairing?

It’s Shark Boy and Lava Girl, what’s not to like? No but seriously they would have such a compelling backstory. They’re both around the same age, and not only did they survive the era of the bloody mist but they are grouped together with some of the strongest Shinobi in the history of the Hidden Mist Village. There is no way these two hadn’t crossed paths multiple times before the main Naruto plot had begun. Kisame was somewhere in his 20s when he left the village, that would have given him plenty of time to form bonds and have many interactions with his fellow Mist Nin (maybe even getting it on with a certain future Mizukage?!?!). So not only is KisaMei chronologically possible (that is if you’re thinking in cannon universe) but I think they would have amazing chemistry as well! Polite, respectful, quick witted, and ruthless in battle, this pairing has a lot more common ground than just their roots. However what would make this pairing so great is not their commonalities but rather how they contrast! The optimist v.s the pessimist. They lived through the same times yet perceived and experienced things in a totally different way. While Kisame gave up on what Kiri was, Mei kept fighting for what she always hoped it could be despite all the corruption and bad blood that consumed their home. On a less serious note, I think Mei’s short fuse and emotional outburst opposed to Kisame’s nonchalant attitude and funny cometary would make for a good dynamic. They would definitely be a very spicy couple, and have an amazing sex life if anything.

2. What would the nature of their relationship be?

In Cannon universe? undefined, bittersweet.

In the cannon universe I don’t think they could ever be in a serious relationship due to the fact that Mei is the FREAKING Mizukage of the Hidden Mist Village and he is an actual ninja terrorist aiming to do away with all the hidden villages. However, I like to headcannon that before Kisame betrayed the mist he had kinda a thing with Mei, like a very casual on and off again relationship with some feelings on the side. I could see them having very playful banter and seeking companionship in one and other due to that fact that they were in a relatively small group of the most elite ninja in the village. I think they would both have a lot of respect for each other despite having different core beliefs. Mei would be open and understanding towards Kisame’s controversial take on their purpose as shinobi, and likewise Kisame would hold her in high regard due to her unwavering loyalty and genuine desire to fix a broken system. I think they would both always hold very tender feelings towards one and other despite being on sworn to two opposing organizations. Now if we're venturing outside of cannon rules, definitely married. Kisame would totally wife that scary dragon lady. Mr. & Mrs. Smith all the way. 

3. Who makes the first move?

Kisame

After much goading from Mei that is. Mei is very flirtatious and forward, yet when it came to down to it she kept waiting for Kisame to initiate things for the first time. I think Mei is a woman who is used to being chased and not being the pursuer, Kisame definitely knew this and was using it agains her. She would be dropping sexual innuendo and not so obvious hints left and right, The swordsman might have given her a chuckle every now and again or at least a huff of amusement, sometimes he would play dumb to her intentions only to get a rise out of her (which it did). But eventually his desire won out. It was after a couple of close calls, resulting from drunken nights after the exhilaration of battle, that Mei had pretty much given up faith in her comrade when he took her by surprise one day with a rather rough and much anticipated return of affections. xxx

4. Do either of them get jealous?

No, neither of them do. I don't think there is anyplace for jealousy in this relationship. They’re both mature adults and usually too occupied with shinobi duties. It just wouldn't work with their life style and professions, plus they're both very loyal people. Mei can be quick to anger as shown a few times in cannon, but at her core she is very intelligent and perceptive. Therefore she would know Kisame well enough to be confident in that he would never intentionally hurt her in anyway. Also Kisame wouldn’t do well with a jealous partner and would find it rather insulting to have someone questioning his character all the time. 

5. Do they want/have children?

Selfishly I’m going to answer yes to the later. 

I could see them having a child out of obligation to the village, I imagine after the third world war and Zabuza’s academy massacre there must have been a high demand to produce a new generation of strong ninja to defend the village against future attacks. Mei had always wanted to start a family of her own, but ideally in a time of peace when her village no longer needed her to fight. I think they both would have strong reservations about bringing a life into such a corrupt and morally grey world, especially Kisame. I have my own KisaMei OC children that i’ve been brainstorming for a while now, hopefully i’ll get around to writing that fan fiction one day.

Ooo I'm curious about your hot takes on the Inuyasha reboot after reading your tags 👀

Ahaha, where to start XD Idk if they are hot takes, but here are my thoughts in bullet point form for coherency, I couldn’t figure out how else to organize them. Under a cut, as usual, because it got lengthy... as usual :D

We are 13 episodes in, and I still have no idea wtf is going on or what the series is actually about. And yes, I’m aware that we didn’t know of Naraku’s existence or of the overarching plot until at least episode 16 of that series either and Inuyasha was still very episodic in nature at that early point too, but here’s the thing: Inuyasha did not build upon a pre-existing series. For better or for worse, Yashahime has certain expectations to live up to that the original anime didn’t, by virtue of its being a sequel. Unfair? Maybe, but tough; that’s what happens when you make a sequel. Additionally, despite us not knowing The Main Plot™ of Inuyasha until later, the basic framework for it was laid out clearly by... episode 2? I think? Find and collect the Shikon Jewel shards. Boom, done. Were there distractions or fillers? Sure, but you never got the sense that the characters simply up and forgot about the shards. Even in fillers, the shards often made some kind of appearance. With Yashahime, there’s like three potential storylines going on: 1. The most obvious: most of our main cast from the OG is missing; where are they? Apparently no one in-story cares! :D Inuyasha, who’s that lol. I’m all for a sequel focusing on the new generation with cameos of the old crew; after all, they already had their own series. But this is like... no one cares about them? No one talks about them? And the more characters go about not mentioning them, the stronger their absence is felt. Like, for instance, Kaede knows Moroha is InuKag’s daughter. Moroha grew up on her own, doesn’t know her parents. Kaede doesn’t mention them to Moroha, doesn’t even spare a passing thought about them for the audience’s benefit, Moroha doesn’t ask. Kagome’s family in the present day meet Moroha, recognize her as Kagome’s daughter and... say nothing??? Souta shows Towa Kagome and Inuyasha’s old photos, but doesn’t say a word to Moroha?! Like. It makes no sense. By people not even acknowledging their existence, it makes the fact that they are nowhere to be found even weirder. Also the new gen girls don’t care about their parents or finding out who they were/are... like, okay, it would maybe be in character for one or two of them, but all three don’t give a fuck??? 2. Kirinmaru/the rainbow pearls: Idk how familiar you are with the story, but similar deal with Naraku and the shards here. Kirinmaru is being set up as the villain, still a mysterious figure; our new gen trio is supposed to collect the rainbow pearls that... some of his henchmen have? Or he is after them? Or is that Riku? Unclear. ANYWAY the new gen girls often forget all about the pearls’ existence :D 3. Setsuna’s memories: Setsuna’s dreams have been stolen by the dream butterfly and they need to get them back, because without her dreams she has no memories and is unable to sleep. Cool! Finally a solid, easy-to-follow plot line! Except wait! Towa, who supposedly made it her goal to get Setsuna’s sleep back, forgets all about it! All the time! Like, none of them make an effort to look into this other than being like “oh yeah, know anything about the dream butterfly?” to random folks every now and then. The Inugang back in the day was putting some grad school level research towards their goals, just saying. It just feels like everything’s all wishy-washy and there’s nothing really solid tying the series together. People just remember shit exists when it’s convenient.

Character development is MIA. I’m not expecting ground-breaking char dev in 13 episodes (though I do know 12 episode series that were phenomenal in that regard), but like... I do expect the series to focus on building the dynamics between the main three characters. So far, the series is more focused on teasing the audience with glimpses and promises of the OG cast instead. The creators are using nostalgia and bait (esp of a certain pairing) to drive interest in the series, rather than developing the new characters as fully-fledged characters for their own sakes.

Moroha is was the only thing I actually liked about the series. She is a little spitfire and you can somehow instantly see both Inuyasha and Kagome in her, while she also remains very uniquely herself; I have never seen such a successfully developed main pairing child in any series. She featured quite prominently in the first few episodes -- and unlike both her parents, she’s got a great memory and knowledge of lore -- where she balanced funny moments with badass fighting moments and being the token supernatural encyclopedia. It was great! And then... they’ve like... forgotten her. She’s been left behind so many times by the twins. She’s the butt of every joke. She’s become the type of comic relief that’s, well, insulting. More like a buffoon than anything else. And it’s basically all for the sake of giving the floor to Towa :/

Setsuna is okay. Not offensive, but unremarkable. She’s got her dad’s personality but like way toned down due to her different growing up circumstances, which is nice, but like... I feel she isn’t given any room to grow or breathe or anything. She’s also basically there as a device to enhance Towa’s development.

Towa... oy. I tried to like her, I really did, but she just doesn’t work for me. They set her up having a very Kurosaki Ichigo type deal with beating up bullies and getting into trouble at school and shit -- I’m fine with that. That’s cool. Esp if it’s linked to not feeling like she fits in bc she’s a hanyou? Awesome. Except once she travels back in time to the feudal era it’s all “Oh killing is bad you shouldn’t kill people” and “even though they attacked me I can’t possibly hurt them” and “you need to empathize and talk things out” and “friendship is magic” and shit. It feels like she had a personality transplant, it literally makes no sense. Her design is totally nonsensical too -- out of everyone at her school, she’s the only one dressed in a bright white suit? Do protags not wear the school uniform? Someone should tell Kagome lmao. She’s a pro at hand to hand, and she can absorb demons’ powers and fling them back at them like a personified Tessaiga, and she has a lightsaber sword, and she’s immune to miasma, and -- like... you get it. It’s too much. It’s way too OP for the type of universe that Inuyasha/Yashahime is set in. She’s hanyou for fuck’s sake; remember all the training Inuyasha had to go through? When he couldn’t lift his sword? When his sword attacked him? Sango, Miroku, Kagome, even Sesshomaru all had trouble with their weapons and had to work to become stronger. But Towa? Nope. Towa is straight out of the Yas Queen/Girl Boss manual, so she gets a free pass on everything.

UGH they are doing the VLD/bad writing thing where things happen (like, BIG THINGS) and none of the characters actually react to them. Or stuff happens and there are no consequences. No one ever talks about anything. It’s wild.

Everyone has amnesia!! :D People either don’t know or don’t remember anything or anyone. People who absolutely should know things all of a sudden magically don’t know them. Like, Kohaku -- traveled with an undead priestess, spent years in the company of demons, traveled with Sesshomaru... and yet had NO CLUE that Setsuna is Sesshomaru’s daughter or that she is hanyou, despite her living and working with his team of demon slayers all this time. Like... how, man. How. And Kaede! Don’t get me started. Since when does she perpetuate random demon-boogeyman type stories as facts? Demon children will kill each other in the nest so that only the strongest one will survive, therefore Setsuna must have killed Towa when they were infants. O_O What are they, sharks? Has she been hanging out with Kisame? Wtf?? And she’s speaking about Sess’s kids as though she doesn’t know him or anything about him, when she has had Rin under her roof all these years. It just makes. no. sense.

Things that happened in the original series are happening again now! Because that’s the best we’ve got, recycled plot elements wooo! No, but really, characters that died or things that were resolved in Inuyasha keep coming back. Why? What was the purpose of bringing back Kinka and Ginka? To have a foil for Towa and Setsuna as twins? Someone please tell Sunrise they can just create new characters. Like, it’s one thing to have call backs to the original or cameos, references, whatever. But like... this is entire (dead) characters and interactions.

No one knows how long it’s been since the original series ended. Fans initially heard 20 years from promo material, then “over 15″ and “10 years since” in-series regarding two different events, and now in a future episode summary we’ve gotten 18 years since Hosenki II gave Inuyasha the black pearl. But like, which black pearl? Because the one in Inuyasha’s eye doesn’t exist anymore, but Hosenki II had told Inuyasha that it would take 100 years for him to produce one. So, are we retconning that or where the fuck did it come from? Also, this doesn’t help one bit, it just confuses things even more. Back to the point, though, we have no coherent timeline or real frame of reference whatsoever, and I’m betting it’s in large part to keep the mystery of who is Sesshomaru’s wife going, as it keeps Rin’s age very vague. Everything is vague and mysterious in Yashahime, to the point where no one knows what’s going on, in fandom or in-story even. It’s kinda like how too much plot twist/shock reveal ruins a story, too much mystery does the same. It’s insane that both shippers and antis of that ship can lay equal claim that the “18 years since” announcement works in their favor.

tl;dr: Idk man, Yashahime is a clusterfuck of a series. Even if the mother of Sess’s twins is either of the characters I ship him with, I will still not like the series. There’s no saving this writing. Every episode feels like this:

Chapter 3 - Teddy Bear Hugs

Here is Chapter 3 

When Megan went  inside the living room Greg, and Andy were putting on their coats  while carrying heavy bags outside.  Megan sighed as the party was over, and her relatives were preparing to go home. .   Before leaving Diana had fixed up a few dishes of cookies, candies, and other treats to take back to their home. They were also taking a box of pizza, but there was still a good amount of food at the house. 

Once they were ready   Megan said good bye to her relatives, and went to go help her mother inside of the kitchen as she divided left over peices of pizza inside a single box.   Krystal was busy seperating pizza slices as she mummbled to herself that she had gotten too many pizza's. 

" I think we got more than we needed."  Krystal said as there were still six or more boxes of pizza. There were also tons of bread sticks, and sauce left over.   . While Megan was helping Krystal.  she  remembered her daughter saying something about her friends coming over for a Christmas bash.    Megan was getting some containers to put sweets in and storing them away for later. 

" Megan when are you friends coming over ?" Krystal asked . Megan smiled as she remembered  Sometime during the week before Christmas.  Megan's and her friends  had planned out to come to Megan’s house for a party.  However the party wouldn't be until the 30th as Megan's friends would either be out of the state to see relatives or working late hours, and wouldn't be able to be off until that certain time. 

"  We decided to bundle the Christmas bash with my birthday. But they wanted me to live stream opening packages in the morning if I could. " Megan answered. Krystal laughed at this as her daughter talked about her friends with a smile on her face.  " When do you think you'll be leaving in the morning ? " Megan asked. 

"It  depends on the weather, and how your grandmother feels."  Krystal answered unaware that they were being spied on.    Itachi was watching the mother, and daughter while Kisame was keeping watch in the other half of the sitting area.  Looking around  what appeared to be a refrigerator Itachi could hear the two talking about what sounded like a serious topic. 

" How much have you gotten done on your friends Christmas presents t that you started back during the summer ? I know you've worked hard on those outfits for your friends.  Krystal asked as Itachi listened in the conversation between the daughter and her mother .  Itachi then remembered that Tobi  had mentioned something about this girl, and three of her friends. 

" I am almost done. I still have a few things to finish like the hem on the skirt of  Candy's dress,  Kayla's shoes need finished,  while Rose's outfit is nearly completed.  I just have to box them all up tonight with the accessories I managed to get in the other day. "  Megan answered smiling.   Megan had been working non stop on a few cosplay gowns that she had designed herself.   Megan wanted to do the project to tell her friends how much she appreciated them. 

 Towards the spring time  Candy, and Rose would be leaving to go out of state for school while Kayla would be busy with her own studies going to a chosen school of her own as well as her part time job at the local retail store .     Itachi looked up as Krystal opened the door of the fridge, and as she, and her daughter made small conversation. 

Krystal stepped out of the kitchen when she heard her mother in the other room.  Itachi backed up into the halls quickly finding a place to hide until the coast was clear.  Under the small side table Itachi could hear the older woman talking again.  This time it seemed like she was looking for something, but there was nothing on the ground. 

" What are you looking for mom ?" Krystal asked. " Oh. I was trying to pick up this flower that fell in the floor, but it won't come up. Mabel here wanted to see it."  Abby said to her daughter.  Yet the sounds in the kitchen caused Itachi to slowly come out of the place he had hidden.  Peeking around the corner of the refrigerator Itachi found Megan silently putting away  things such as containers, and putting sweets in a few to put in storage.    At the same time Megan stood listening to the voices inside the living room.  She was smiling, but Itachi noticed a look in her eyes. 

" Pull yourself together.."  Itachi heard  Megan say in a quiet toned voice. 

As Megan was putting up the sweets, and other things in their proper place she suddenly had this feeling like she was being watched. Confused Megan looked towards the dining room as Itachi hid behind the refrigerator.  Itachi peeked out slightly seeing the girl blink in confusion.  Shaking the feeling Megan went back to the task at hand until. 

"  Megan ! " she, and Itachi heard as Krystal called for Megan to come to the living room. " Yes mom ?" Megan questioned as she finished up putting the sweet treats away, and headed towards the living room to see what her mother wanted.  Itachi saw a worried look  on Megan's face as she was wondering if something had happened.  " Is there something wrong mom ?"   Krystal smiled after having gotten a request from Abigale. 

" Everything's fine . Your grandmother told me that she wanted to see you open some of your gifts. I know you said you were going to open them up later . But do you think you can open a few for you grandma  before we take her back home ? "  Megan smiled, and nodded.

" Sure I don't mind. "  she responded. It just gave Megan a few more minutes with her parents, and grandparents before they went back to Abigale's house for the night .   Itachi looked around only spotting Kisame on the other end of the couch as he watched what was happening on his end.  

As Megan sat down on the love seat the sudden action caught the attention of her father, and step-grandfather. Krystal moved towards the  Christmas tree  looking for a package for Megan to open.  

" Krystal what is going on ?" Jeremy asked as his wife . " Mom wanted to see Megan open some  of her gifts before we went back to their house for the night. " Krystal answered as  the old woman seemed over joyed to have her granddaughter in the room again.  Jeremy seemed to agree to the idea as he turned to his daughter.   Krystal directed to which of the gifts that Megan would enjoy opening first. 

Megan was curious as her father carried over a rectangular box that was the size of a keyboard or something for her computer.   Seeing Itachi, Kisame quietly made his way over to where his partner was who was focused on the activity going on.  Jeremy soon pulled out his nice camera as Megan began to unwrap one of her gifts.  You could hear the camera make sounds, and the lights flash as Jeremy pushed the button. 

" What is it ?" Leo asked.

" That's what I want to know." Kisame said as he, and  Itachi kept observing the  girl as she started opening a few Christmas presents.  Megan's smile was wide as she opened up her gift finding it was a keyboard that she had been eying for sometime on the internet.  It was a black gaming  keyboard, that had a led light that  would  glow like a rainbow.  The keys even lit up for easy use if Megan had the lights off. 

" Rose, and Kayla  helped you out didn't she ?" Megan asked. " They sure  did."  Krystal answered " Thank you so much ! "  Megan replied excitedly as the next gift was given to her.  Opening up the package was the mouse that matched the keyboard, but this mouse had number buttons on the side that also glowed with rainbow colors.  Through the excitement Itachi moved to the underside of the loveseat, and peaked out seeing  Megan place her gift on the coffee table with the first. What kind of world was this with this type of technology ? Itachi questioned himself as he had fooled with computers before while with the Anbu. But they weren’t as advanced. 

 Again Itachi, and Kisame heard movement, but this time  Jeremy brought out a gift bag.   Itachi could also see the excitement from the grandmother who was talking to the invisible person next to her. Megan took the small bag and began to open it placing the tissue paper to the side with the pile of paper nearby. Inside of the bag was a new version of a hand held console, and a copy of a Pokémon game  that she already had the opposite to.  As Megan was opening gifts Itachi, and Kisame  heard the grandma complement her granddaughter. " Oh that is lovely, or How exciting don't you see Mable ?"   Megan smiled at her grandmother as she stopped opening presents in order to save a few for the next morning.   " Thank you mom, and dad." Megan said smiling as she put the console, and game on the coffee table, Itachi peeked out  while everyone in the room were distracted managed to pick up the small case with the game in it.  A strange creature was on the front of the package, and read the title of the game in question. " Your welcome. I am thankful for your friends. They helped us a lot with choosing your gifts. I am sure your going to be busy tonight."  Krystal said smiling. " Possibly.  I have a lot to finish tonight I may wait till tomorrow evening." Megan answered as she got up, and picked up the wrapping paper on the floor, and helped get things straightened up before her parents took her grandparents home.   While this happened  inside of Megan's room Pein, and the others had explored much Megan's room.  Sasori in particular was sitting on Megan's bed after finding a sketchbook with reference photos nearby.  It was full of rejected sketches of outfits, or of objects and people,  or Megan was saving them for a later date.  There were also sketches of various things like flowers, cats, butterflies. On the floor Hidan,  Kakuzu, and Deidara looked up at the large glass case that held figures in certain themes on each shelf  or some kind of object that belonged to that  series.  On the middle shelf were figures that looked like characters from the Naruto series. Which included the Akatsuki themselves.  Kakuzu looked at his figure double. 

" I didn't give anyone permission to use my image without some kind of fee." Kakuzu said as he scowled.  Hidan, and Deidara groaned as  activity continued on the bed. Tobi  was looking around on the side table when he noticed a picture frame with a few familiar photos. 

" Oh look ! Tobi found his picture !! " Tobi said excited as there was a photo Tobi had popped up in when  the girls were having fun photo sessions on that specific day. 

" Picture ? A picture of you in it ? " Deidara questioned as he jumped back up on the bed, and Tobi pointed out a picture frame that could host four of five pictures inside of it.   The pictures were of Megan, and her friends , and one or a few of those photos had Tobi in it.  Pein, and Konan walked up behind Tobi and Deidara looking at the frame. " Are these the other three you mentioned ?"  Pein questioned Tobi. " Yes.  Tobi doesn't know where they are, but they are just as nice as  Megan is. Well some of them can be a bit temperamental,  Tobi can't wait for you to meet them, "  Tobi responded as Pein turned to  Megan's book shelf that rested to the right of the bed.  Like the glass case the book shelf had figures that were guarding  Megan's books.  Mostly the figures were themed to what books sat on which shelf. " Where did Zetsu go ?" Pein questioned as he pulled away from looking at the picture . " He's exploring the closet.  Zetsu spotted something on the top shelf. "  Konan answered as Zetsu was climbing the closet finding a hidden shelf with pillows, holiday items, and especially cosplay props. " What are these ? is our hostess a ninja too ? Does she make weapons ?" White asked. "  Who knows.  We will have to keep a close watch on her. "  Black answered as the plant man spoke with himself.   As Zetsu was coming down towards the floor  the others could hear the commotion outside of the bedroom.  Pein, and the others looked towards the open door as Kisame came to inform Pein what was going on. " What's going on Kisame ?" Pein questioned. " The parents, and the grandparents are leaving. They all went outside a little while ago, and the girl is seeing them off."  Kisame answered as the others followed Kisame outside into the larger area.  Like Kisame said the front door to the house was opened, and Megan was standing out on the porch.  Itachi was standing an inch from the door as he looked outside watching the family.

Krystal was standing outside with  Megan as she prepared to go back to her mothers, and Leo's for the night. The car was running as Jeremy had finished helping Leo get Abigale inside of the car, and Jeremy was coming back to goodbye to his daughter.  Krystal smiled, and hugged her daughter.

"  Are you sure your going to be okay ?" " Yes. I'll be fine  you need this time with grandma. " Megan answered as she hugged her mother good bye. " Okay, but if you need anything don't hesitate to call us, and you have the emergency numbers on hand right."  Krystal asked. " Yes. I have everything.  Also if I know the girls they will be pinging me every few hours tonight so I won't be too alone." Megan answered as Krystal laughed while Jeremy came to the porch.  Like Krystal. Jeremy was worried about his daughter staying at their home by herself, but was reassured she knew what she was doing. Jeremy gave Megan the basic run down of everything asking her if she knew what to do incase of a fire, or if something happened to call the police ecc.  Megan agreed, and hugged her father before he took the bags Krystal was holding in her hands to the running car .

" I'll call you once we get to your grandparents house, and before we leave in the morning. Also the weather called for a slight cold spell. Try to stay warm, and if you need anything call us. "  Krystal said as she hugged Megan again,

" What's going on ?" Konan asked as they watched the father come back for  Megan's mother, and helped her to the strange wagon . 

" The parents are leaving with the grandparents , and staying with them tonight. Then they will be traveling tomorrow on some kind of trip . The girl will be on her own tonight as well as the next few days." Itachi responded as he looked back out of the screen door.   The Akatsuki members watched from the screen door  as Megan stood watching her mother leave for a few minutes. 

" What type of wagons are those ?" Hidan asked as he noticed these specific ones were blowing smoke.  No animals were attached to them , and it seemed to be running on its own.  As Jeremy go in on the drivers side the headlights of the car turned on causing the Akatsuki bears to question even further. 

As Megan started back into the house looking back as she heard car doors opening, and closing.  Inside the house  Pein, and the others moved back finding spaces to hide in. Opening the door Megan stepped inside the house and turned back to close the door.  Hidan was hiding behind the piano as he tripped, and fell while Kakuzu made it to his hiding place.  Sasori, Deidara, and Tobi hid under the Christmas tree. While Itachi, Kisame, Pein, and Konan hid behind the couch  . 

" Where do we hide ?" White Zetsu asked black as both usually could disappear quickly. But for whatever reason. Zetsu wasn't able to use some of his jutsu like he usually could.  " I don't know just pick some place !" Black responded only to finally find a place behind the coat rack that had a covering of coats. Coming into the house  Megan  closed the door, and locked the door only to turn, towards the front door. The tail lights from her parents car started up the driveway. For a moment it sat there as an on coming car came by, but afterward  the car drove out onto the road, and disappeared into the darkness.  Once the car was gone  Megan turned away from the front door, and walked towards the sofa, and sat down for a few moments. It was only minutes after Megan sat down on the sofa did she hear the familiar pitter patters of claws against the hardwood floor. " Meow." " Was that a cat ?"  Pein questioned as  Megan looked up, and smiled as her two pet cats finally emerged from their hiding places.  When people had started coming in the house both of Megan's pet cats had went into hiding.   " No. Two cats." Konan said as she motioned towards the opening that lead to what looked like a master bedroom.  A black cat with white patches , and a grey, and white tabby cat came into the living room where Megan was.  Megan smiled as the two felines made their way around smelling the left over scent of people that had been at the house. 

" You two finally came out from hiding ?" Megan said as the two cats made their way into the living room.  Luna a cat with black fur, and a few white places in her fur came up to Megan and headbutted Megan's hands.  Megan giggled as she stood up from the couch knowing what the two wanted.  

" Meow." Luna answered along with her brother Calypso a large male tabby cat. " Alright. I know you two are hungry.  I just hope you don't mind the company tonight. " Megan said as  both cats followed Megan to the kitchen allowing the Akatsuki bears to come out from hiding.   Yet it was Luna that caused the bears to stop in their tracks as her ears picked up a strange sound.   Yet the sound of food seemed to direct Luna's attention, and followed her brother, and human to the food area. 

" Meow !" Luna meowed excitedly as Megan picked out a few cans of food.   Itachi, Kisame  Konan, and Pein came out from behind the sofa, and hid in the hall way.  Pein peered around as  Megan was feeding her feline friends. The cats were anxious as  Megan picked up their bowls, and got into the bottom cabinet where their food was stored.  

" Oh boy ! Tobi loves kitty cats !" Tobi said excited as he, Deidara, and Sasori moved from their own hiding places joining the first four in the halls.  Kakuzu, and Hidan soon followed, and Zetsu was the last of the ten. 

" Meow." Luna meowed excitedly as Megan was preparing their meal, but as she was doing so she then remembered something as she heard two familiar meows outside.    After feeding Calypso, and Luna.  Megan walked to the back door.  Standing at the backdoor waiting for Megan was a yellow cat, and a female tabby .   Yet Itachi noticed what seemed to be tiny ears meaning one of the cats had kittens. 

" What more cats ?" Hidan questioned as Megan went to the back door and opened it.  .   " Hi Nala come on in and get warm for awhile. You too Sally and get those kittens inside. It's really cold tonight, and we are due for a winter storm possibly.  "  Megan said to the two cats as the two came into the house. Sally looked back to the opened door and  meowed as three little kittens popped through the door as their mother called. . 

“ Are you getting into more mischief tonight Rascal ? “ Megan questioned as the kitten jumped into her arms, and on her shoulder.   Picking Rascal up off her shoulder  Megan placed him on the ground with his sisters.  Megan then fed the rest of the cats, and kittens.   Megan also prepared spaces  for the outside cats to sleep for the night.    After feeding the cats, and getting them settled for the night.   

As Megan was going towards her parents bedroom something caught her eye.  Megan stopped as she looked over towards the coffee table.  Megan was a little confused she remembered the bears were still in the box that she placed on the bed.  Thinking for a few moments  Megan wondered if one of her parents had done this while  Megan went to put something away in the kitchen. " Aw. Its like they are having a meeting. " Megan thought as she giggled to herself, and continued to her parents room to take a hot shower, and prepare for the long night ahead of her.  Going into the room Megan shut the door, and prepared to get into the shower.

" That was close .." Sasori said as the door to the master bedroom shut, and it allowed the Akatsuki members to continue their conversation.  While Megan had been in the room. and the others distracted.  Pein had begun reading over the scroll that Tobi had shown him.  Rolling up the scroll  Pein jumped up on the coffee table, and brought attention to the other members. " Now what are we going to do hmm"  Deidara questioned. 

" For now I am calling an important meeting about this issue. " Pein responded and turned to Tobi who had the rolled up scroll in his possession.   Pein was going to get to the bottom of this justu how it worked, and what it took to get everyone changed back to their normal forms.  Pein lead the members across the room in front of the Christmas tree using the rooms.  coffee table as a make shift meeting table. 

Pein stopped for a moment as he, and the others heard movement in what seemed like the master bedroom.  The sound of water could be heard as Pein began the briefing.   Again Tobi explained his side of the story how he found this world, and met the girl in question that he had met.  Pein, and the others listened closely as Tobi told the same tale, and his story remained the same. 

After Tobi's explanation  Pein began reading the scroll through the silence the other Akatsuki members could hear small pitter patters as the three kittens had finished eating, and was starting to play.    Pein raised a stuffed paw as he read the wordings. 

" I see... " Pein said.  Pein then looked up at the other Akatsuki members , and then looked at the scroll again.   " Gah ! Will you say f*king something  already ! " Pein heard Hidan shriek as he was growing impatient as always.   Pein ignored this as he continued reading as he looked to where the girl had gone too.   Konan could see the face that Pein was making, and it seemed that there was more to this jutsu than  Tobi realized when he cast it on everyone. 

.  The jutsu wasn't going to be easy to undo.  It was going to require assistance, and cooperation especially on the Akatsuki members end if they wanted to be human again .

Xigbar is hands down my TYPE in a character. I love characters with a hard rough look, laid back personality, with questionable standing as a good guy, bad guy, anti-hero what have you?? His weapon is fantastic, his entire character catches me off guard and he’s a lot of TOUGH TALK and fucking kind of cowardly but not? I love him a whole lot.

Kaworu Is one of my favorites from Evangelion because I just really love... him. His design, his purpose, like the reboot with 3.33 broke my heart because he was fleshed out more and seeing such a calm collected character with the existence and story he has, broke my heart. Just he’s so... sincere??

Vegeta has to make my top three though. He goes from SHIT HEAD SPACE PRINCE OF ALL SAIYANS, to being a god damn good guy, defender of evil father of two married to one of the biggest geniuses in the world. Like fucking he comes so far from being a vicious violent killing machine, to revealing he has a soft side DEFENDING HIS WIFE’S HONOR and tolerating his life rival so called... like he... trains other children and just does shit and is part of a GROUP and it’s so... Meet Ibrahim Ambwere,The tycoon who offered to pay teachers delayed salaries in '80s

In the early 1980s, Ibrahim Ambwere stunned the nation by offering to pay teachers their delayed salaries amounting to Sh48 million. He was concerned about teachers’ welfare. “That was a lot of money in the 80s, but I had it and I was willing to bail them out,” he says. Yet Ambwere, a wealthy trader in Kitale, never had formal education. His parents were too poor to afford school fees. After his offer, he says he went through stress as government officials dug through his personal life. “I don’t want to talk about it, it still causes me pain,” he says. When Sunday Standard sought him out two weeks ago, we asked him how much he is worth today. He let out a hearty laugh and said: “My culture does not allow me to discuss that, but I am definitely worth a lot.” Residents of Kitale are, however, not shy to give an estimate. “He is worth billions. He is richer than most politicians. People call him mheshimiwa,” says one shop tenant in a building Ambwere owns. Ambwere has property in Kitale, Mbale, Kakamega, Kisumu, Nairobi and other major towns. Yet he maintains an air of mystery. He rarely appears in public and admits he has deliberately evaded the watchful eye of the media. “I trust very few people,” he says. He was born in 1936 in Maragoli to a polygamous family. In five years, he had built his own shop and moved from the rental premises. But some say his success story is “too neat” to be believed. Paul Ogembe, an accountant who says his father has interacted with Ambwere deeply, is doubtful of the ‘grass to grace’ story the old man projects. “My father says Ambwere is a sly man, and must have had connections with people in power back then to be where he is now,” says Ogembe. Ambwere laughs at the claims, saying young people are used to hearing stories of theft and no longer in hard work and resilience. From a carpenter, Ambwere rose to become a property owner, putting up prominent buildings that have stood the test of time in Western. However, his personal life has been buffeted by family feuds that led him to divorce two wives. He claims his former wives colluded with his children and other people to swindle him of his hard earned money. He only found peace later in his life, he says, with his current wife Ebby Ingado who he married in 1994. He is also diabetic, a malaise that had him admitted at Nairobi Hospital between 1989 and 1992. “When I came back, my business was in ruins. I had to start over,” he says. His deficiency in formal education has never hindered him from growing his brand. When the pressure to learn how to read and write mounted, he hired a tutor, a Lawrence Kisame, in the 70s. In four years, Ambwere could read, write and communicate in English. He gifted Kisame a house. “I built him a house because he transformed me. Teachers are special,” he says. His stories are dotted with anecdotes of politicians he has interacted with. One of his buildings, Chavakali Hardware, was commissioned by former President Mwai Kibaki who was the then minister of Finance. He also mentions former President Daniel Moi as one of his prominent guests. Against all odds “But I have never desired to be a politician,” he says with a playful smile on his face. He plans to expand his business and is building a mall in Kitale, one he hopes will send ripples across the entire country. His children help him with business, directing him on technological advancements he can embrace to expand his business. “My father teaches us more than we teach him,” says his son Fransico. But locals feel he is immersed so deep in his own growth that he never casts a glance towards the underprivileged around him. “His house is huge, but his neighbours and workers are extremely poor. Royalty Au

Kakashi and Gai have known each other since childhood. It’s an outcome of Kakashi’s father, Sakumo, being the royal guard to King Dai. That plus Sakumo being an only father since his wife's death, and he finds himself having to have Kakashi by his side a lot growing up. He could get someone to take care of his son, but Kakashi keeps running them into the ground and scaring them off.

Thankfully, the king is very understanding and loves that his son has someone else to play with.  Most people who interact with Gai treat him like a porceline. Like they have to be super careful around him or he might shatter. Kakashi doesn’t do that. He respects Gai of course. Calls him ‘your highness’ and always bows when they greet each other or say goodbye, but otherwise, he considers Gai his friend. They run around the garden together, learn together, play together. Everything that Gai does, Kakashi does with him. Sometimes Kakashi will even be able to help Gai with his learning, being a quick learner himself who can explain things better for Gai than his tutor.

As they grow up, they continue to hang out. Even when Kakashi starts to train under Lady Kushina as a page at the age of 7, Kakashi will often use his time off from training to spend with Gai.

Gai is the first person Kakashi ever tells of his dream to become a great knight. Not just like his father, but even better. He wants to prove that he’s talented and smart and that he can protect the Kingdom and the Prince from anything and anyone. Gai feels a little sad that day, even though he loves the excitement in Kakashi’s voice when he hears about his dream. But knowing that Kakashi is going to put himself into a job that could get him killed young, all to try to prove himself. that hurts Gai’s heart.

When Kakashi is promoted to Squire at the age of 11, it’s a huge celebration. People are amazed by this kid's progress. the standard age for becoming a squire is 15, and Kakashi’s already well on his way to becoming the youngest knight in history. Even with his extra duties though, he makes sure to always visit Gai in the garden at least twice a week. They still have race’s around the place, and sometimes Kakashi will show Gai how to sword fight. Gai does get lessons from a tutor of course, but he finds that he learns easier from Kakashi. Kakashi just has a way of talking to him that helps him understand quicker. Plus Kakashi always lets him make things into a competition, which helps a lot with getting him pumped and ready to learn. 

When Kakashi is knighted at the age of 16, Gai’s not sure how to feel. He’s excited for his old friend of course. This was part of Kakashi’s dream. He’s already making a name for himself separate from his father. But at the same time, Gai’s terrified that this means he won’t have any time with Kakashi anymore. Kakashi will be too busy to visit him, and he’ll be alone with no one to hang out with but the people who treat him like porcelain.

Of course, Dai won’t have that. Kakashi is immediately made Gai’s royal guard. Partially to keep him out of the field where he might find nothing but a young death, and partially to keep Kakashi and Gai close. He knows how important the two are to each other already, and he refuses to be the one to tear them away from each other.

When it comes to marriage at the age of 20, Gai is not excited. He can’t think of anyone he wants to marry, and he always finds problems with the people that he is presented with. Genma is too pessemistic, Obito is too... well, Obito. Him and Kisame just want to rip each others throats out most of the time, and while he gets along fine with Rin the two of them both agree they’d prefer to be friends.

It’s not until someone mentions to Kakashi that he should also be looking to settle down that Gai realizes why he can’t choose a marriage partner.

He doesn’t want anyone else. He wants to be with Kakashi. To have Kakashi by his side, not just as his knight, but as his partner. 

He knows it’s not conventional. Most people marry royalty from other lands to strengthen treaties or secure partnerships. But his father never married. He found other ways to do those things, so surely Gai can too. Right?

He’s afraid to bring it up to his father. Terrified that he’ll be rejected. But when he finally does, Dai just laughs and tells his son that it’s about time. That he just needed to tell him what it was he wanted, and he would make it happen for him.

Gai and Kakashi don’t get married right away. Neither of them is in a rush.

But when they do it’s a big event, and Kakashi is not pleased about this fact.

Both of their fathers are standing by their side, proud that their sons have found each other and can be together. That they know who’s side they belong at. Kakashi can’t imagine Anyone else protecting Gai, and Gai wouldn’t have anyone else standing beside him as his husband or as his royal guard.

Kakashi’s position does not change at all. There are people of course who are adamant that the King's husband cannot be his royal guard. that the position is too dangerous. 

But Dai knows that neither of the boys are going to let anyone else take Kakashi’s position, and he’s alright with that. Kakashi has always been the one to protect Gai, and he always will be. 

Skill Swap Au

Kakashi and Gai still meet outside of the academy, but it’s Kakashi who has been turned away. Denied entry because of his lack of skill in Ninjitsu or Genjutsu. Gai feels bad for the other boy. He looks so sad standing there by his father's side, the White fangs side, knowing that he can’t get into the academy because he has been deemed ‘not good enough

Seeing something in Kakashi that no one else did, Gai decides to challenge him to a spar. It takes a few attempts, and Kakashi gets annoyed really easily at his challenges and tries to remind him that he’s just going to lose to ‘the genius’, but finally Kakashi caves.

And Kakashi loses, badly. But when he crawls to his feet and stuffs his hands into his pockets determined to leave, Gai stops him and tells him that they should spare again.

And he doesn’t stop challenging Kakashi. No matter how many times Kakashi wants to give up. No matter how often the two of them hear that Gai’s ‘wasting his time with a failure’. Gai never gives up on Kakashi.

He knows what Kakashi could be capable of. He has seen his own father train her to be strong, and he has seen Kakashi training on his own. Kakashi is not a quitter. He works his butt off and always comes home bruised and tired from his efforts. Gai knows if they just keep at it, that Kakashi can become strong.

Ultimately, with Gai’s help and a lot of perseverance, Kakashi finally makes it into the academy. It’s a moment of celebration for them both and Gai can’t stop congratulating Kakashi.

Halfway through the year, Sakumo’s mission goes terribly wrong, and suddenly ‘the white fang’ is a name no longer spoken with pride. It’s a name that people spit venom at. And that loss in pride hits Kakashi hard. After Sakumo’s death, Kakashi disappears from the academy.

Gai’s terrified that Kakashi has given up. That he’s just going to let those hateful people’s words win and stop trying to become a great shinobi.

He’s wrong. Oh so wrong. Kakashi’s more determined than ever to prove himself. to show the village that he can be a great Ninja no matter what they say. Every day from dawn to dusk Kakashi trains endlessly. Pushing himself to near collapse just to get stronger. 

It’s at this point, after finding Kakashi unconscious in a field after a long day of training, that Dai decides to show him the eight gates.

Having Kakashi around the house a lot more is pretty weird, but Gai also really enjoys it. Kakashi’s not always the friendliest person, but he’s always helping out around the house with chores. 

Gai graduated from the academy at the age of five, setting the record for the youngest shinobi to become a genin ever. Choza Sensei decides when he’s six to have him compete in the chunin exams, and he is promoted before any of his classmates even make genin.

Kakashi graduated at the age of seven, which is still really impressive given the fact that people have always said he would never amount to anything. 

Gai gets placed on team choza with Ebisu and Genma, while Kakashi gets placed on Team Minato with Obito and Rin. Kakashi’s still very ‘by the rules’ because of his father, but rather than fighting with Obito over who’s stronger, Kakashi and Obito get along a bit better.

By the time they’re 11, Kakashi has actually managed to beat Gai in a fight. It’s no surprise to Gai when he becomes a chunin along with the others, even as Gai is promoted to Jonin ahead of them. 

Team Minato still gets the Kannabi bridge mission, but they’re given another Jonin to lead the mission while Minato takes care of his part of it. When Rin is kidnapped, Obito convinces Kakashi to go with him to get her even though they’re going directly against Jonin’s orders. 

Kakashi still loses his eye protecting Obito, Obito still awakens his sharing, and then Obito ‘dies’ saving Kakashi from being crushed by a bolder.

Kakashi is blamed for the mission going wrong when they get back to Konoha, but instead of allowing it to eat at him, he decides to keep training. To become stronger and show the village that he’s not the failure they think he is.

Gai is determined to help him in this mission and starts making their competitions into training sessions together. 

Whenever someone gets rude with Kakashi or blames him for Obito’s death, they usually find themselves meeting the end of Gai’s foot. Kakashi may not be willing to stand up to them, but Gai is more than happy to do it for them.

Rin doesn’t die in this au because of Kakashi. Instead, recognizing that she has no other way out, she uses Kakashi’s distraction while fighting the enemy shinobi to take her own life. 

Obito’s still mad at Kakashi for not being able to save her, and Kakashi still see’s her blood on his hands in his nightmares. But that’s because he actually held her body while she bled out. 

Recognizing his student’s strength and hurt, Minato decides to shove Kakashi into Anbu. Something that’s frowned upon by many until Kakashi starts going out onto missions. They’re surprised by his sheer strength and ability in the field. 

When Minato dies against the Kyuubi, Kakashi sinks deeper into depression and tries to push everyone away, including Gai.

Of course, Gai doesn’t allow this. He refuses to let Kakashi suffer alone and always tries to keep up with their competition and spars.

When he realizes just how bad Anbu is affecting Kakashi’s mental health, Gai decides to try and join so that he can be with him. But he’s turned away because of his personality (just like in Canon)

So instead, he decides to get Kakashi out.

Kakashi’s not too happy to be made a join sensei after being shoved out of Anbu, but he takes it as punishment for not being able to help Itachi avoid the massacre route that he chose to take (in Kakashi’s eye since he doesn’t know the truth at this point)

Over the years, Kakashi has grown a lot as a shinobi. Even Itachi was surprised to see just how strong Kakashi was with just Taijutsu and did a lot of training with him to improve his own Taijutsu. 

Come the Chunin exams with Team seven and Team Gai, Neji, Lee, and Tenten are unsurprised to find that Team Seven is extremely skilled in Taijutsu. Kakashi has taught them well, and these three are ready to take names and kick butt. 

Sasuke still loses in his fight against Lee, but Lee’s proud to say that he was taught Taijutsu from their sensei (taught first by Gai, and then improved upon by Kakashi) and that they’re surely going to get stronger with more time under him.

The month that Kakashi spends training up Sasuke’s taijutsu is possibly the worst month of Sasuke’s life. He’s introduced to Kakashi’s personal training methods and it is not fun. Not one bit. 

And after the chunin exams, while the village is trying to repair itself from the Konoha crush and settle into some sense of nromality, Itachi and Kisame show up. This time, it’s Gai who faces down Itachi and ends up in a 72 hour genjutsu. Itachi knows better than to allow the genius time to come up with a plan. But then just as Kisame is about to swoop in and finish Gai, Kakashi shows up and kicks him away. A genius and the best taijutsu master of Konoha? Itachi is out. This is not worth the hassle. 

Sasuke finds out about Itachi's appearance in the village while Kakashi, Kurenai and Asuma are watching over Gai while he's resting from Itachi's attack. Kakashi of course goes after his student

Kakashi also gets to the the 'dynamic entry' against Jiraiya, kicking him in the face and away from his students. He recognizes Jiraiya of course, but damn he'd be lying if he said that didn't feel good.
