there seems to be far too many fans who can't seem to wrap their head around the fact that no relationship in the Vampire Chronicles is healthy. every relationship includes an element of abuse/power imbalance by normal standards. literally every single one.
they are all monsters who are no longer constrained by societal rules. so I don't think it's too crazy to expect them to do mosntorus things. the genre is Gothic HORROR. the show really prioritizes the HORROR element more so than other adaptaions, which i love.
i don't need louis to be a liar to enjoy lestat. if louis lied or misremebered things about the fight in episode 5, i literally do not care because it's never gonna make me hate louis. the baseline of what constitutes "evil" or "bad" is so different in iwtv because of the fact that they are NOT HUMAN. Claudia is literally a serial killer and she's still mother to me. ykwim?
the nature of vampirism is they have to kill to survive. so it would be really cool if people could accept louis, armand, and claudia as complex characters who are fundamentally not good people (because they aren't people!) without being racist about it. THEY ARE ALL KILLERS
im more interested in this exploration of the complexities of memory and seeing how the show integrates the other books into this story in a way that hasn't been done before than I am in discoursing about whether louis is a liar or not. who gives a shit???? grow up and realize that there are no good guys here and that's OKAY

I've really missed you guys, by the way. I know I've said that already, but I'm serious. Once or twice this year I've been right on the brink of coming back but schedule stuff always keeps me from letting myself commit to that again, and that in turn has kept me from posting anything at all. But I've been in an unexpected drawing mood lately and so if I can get enough stuff to set up a queue we might pretend I'm back for a month or so sometime this year. Maybe. Hopefully. We'll see. i am wide awake thinking about that post canon jb au again when I should be sleeping …!!! such is the nature of the jbrainrot…

I was thinking up ideas today for the superhero-becomes-slob story but didn't really feel like writing so instead I drew a picture of Jupiter/Justin post-slobbification
#why are superheroes letting go and getting fat so hot?#is it because they're meant to be paragons of perfection#and to fall so low is such a massive transformation#the contrast between their former selves and the slob they now are#I think there's something else too but I can't put my finger on it#I may or may not also have a thing for briefs so the fact superheroes often wear briefs outside their pants is a plus#my art#Notes about the art: Jupiter's costume is coloured like the planet#the logo is the astrological symbol of Jupiter and it's red-orange#while the rest of the outfit is grey-white#His underwear is also orange but perhaps a bit lighter than the logo thing#I realised after making this that I should've given him lightning powers#but I don't think I want him to have lightning-control bc it'd be too deadly#I can't have him kill the villain or there'll be no story#but I named him Jupiter for a very very specific reason and it will appear in the story#Also the face could've been better but I erased it and started again and it was eh but I was like nup that's it I'm done#my pencil sharpener is so bad I had to get a stanley knife to sharpen the point of the pencil#because it just wasn't sharp enough to get the tiny details on the face#Also the hair#do you know how hard it is to find examples of bed hair online that aren't just 'how to style your hair: bedhead style' things#like no I want real actual bed head hair not fake artsy 'bed heads'#I think I imagine him as blonde? Just because it'd look nice with the grey-orange colour scheme#the top of the planet jupiter is sorta yellow#but he can be whatever you want him to be I don't mind#slob#weight gain

Is it just me or is this marketed as if it’s an action thriller? Down to the editing, the music, the fonts used. Which is frankly bizarre since it’s supposed to be a murder mystery. It’s set almost entirely in a monastery! It’s not a big sprawling epic…

replayed oph book 1 and god it's still such a great book, start to finish. the friend group dynamics. the twists and turns. the humor, the heart. uvhhbbbbsbsn they were really cooking something
#one weird thing. since this was a diamond splurge replay.#it's weird that you don't get a nice every day diamond fit and instead they keep defaulting to that grey shirt look#whenever im out of the hospital. newer books were clever to add that thing.#and i hate to say it bc we fought for him and i like his character but rafael feels like such an extra even here#he really doesn't interact much with anyone else at times in group scenes it's like he's a ghost only mc can see#and that thing where you can choose which LI you run into! that was i think unique to this series?#now that it matters now since all books are 1 locked LI 💀#also damn rafmancers stay in trenches but jackimancers are right there too.#a singular female li yet for a chunk of the book she's mean and freezing mc out.#on top of not appearing that much already#so i guess it's not exactly a perfect book but it is perfect. to me. cheers brycemancers#playchoices#also the constant options to be mean or normal to aurora. ughhhh i love her so much why did this series fumble such great characters

i’m seeing relatives in a few days and they have a tendency to ask if i’ve made any new friends because i’ve moved to a new city but also i’m bad at socialising in general and i’m trying to figure out how to tell them that my best friend in the new city is a cat
#he’s my beautiful boy#he has brought me more joy than i have felt in weeks#i don’t want to rush into anything but if the person who wants to adopt him isn’t able to then. i am looking actively#my building doesn’t allow animals but i’d see what i could do because having a motivation to get out of bed is nice#usually it’s class or work as my motivation but that is making me burn out faster than a match lit at both ends so#earl might be my saving grace here#my mum is like ‘you’ll meet people who you’re comfortable with you just have to take the step to meet people’ and like. yeah true#but i also have the social battery of a flea and am just not good at socialising in general unless it’s with authority figures#but Earl is nice. hanging out with him i mean#his body language means he communicates boundaries easily and he loves just sitting and hanging out and there’s no pressure to say the right#thing or have the right body language or facial expression or worry about emoting correctly#other than keeping my body relaxed and slow blinking at him when he looks at me#(he’s started slow blinking back and i’m so excited)#i don’t have to do anything else#he’s my little buddy#i am just incredibly burnt out and don’t really have human friends here that don’t take my energy to hang out with#(like i have friends in the building but they like to drop a lot of their shit on me and we’re not close so i especially can’t handle it)#so having a companion who doesn’t drain my spoons to be around is really nice#did i cry over this today? yes.#earl the grey

normally I'm not a fan of clip show episodes buuut I'm really enjoying the ones in season 6 of Night Court.
not just because of all the Dan stuff but... okay only 99% because of that.
also "not sleazy but ethically questionable in regards to women" - oh Daaan 🙄

I also think that Jade would wear:
Maxi skirts (I think he'd have a black maxi skirt that he would wear frequently... if he got used to the amount of material)
Short-sleeved button-ups (in summer, either with light trousers or shorts. Either cotton or linen, probably.)
Cargo shorts and pants (esp. for hiking)
Wrap dresses (I think a lavender or forest green one would look STUNNING on him)
Sports coats (tweed? wool? cotton?)
Suits ^w^
BLACK. TURTLENECK. (maybe with a blazer? or under a chunky sweater, if it was a thin material?)
I also think that the things Jade likes to wear depend on the individual piece... it sounds like he has some sensory issues with clothes, so he may dislike wearing certain garments, and maybe avoid certain clothing or fabrics altogether?
