having some thoughts after seeing certain… sunday artwork and animations
was also reading one of my drafts and somehow something i wrote about sunday being a cryer became canon so hell yeah baby
tags: NSFW!! imagining this as a post-astral express sunday in a new relationship with the reader. also a great post for all you dacryphilia mfs (me)
poor angel is probably so lost about everything now. what is he supposed to do now without so much burden and control on his shoulders that he was always so used to?
god i cannot imagine how PENT up this brainwashed youth pastor must be. absolutely no experience in this avenue.
honestly, he’ll constantly tuck himself right behind those wings of his during any new intimate stage you two reach. bro can NOT handle being vulnerable.
he’ll do it when you see him naked for the first time, when your hands glide over his smooth body, when you whisper how beautiful he is in his ear. hell, he’ll even do it as your lips trail down his neck, especially if you land on a particular sensitive spot. this man will also get extremely flustered if you mark him up in any way, even if his clothes completely cover up any significant ones.
sunday for sure whines and whimpers in bed and will immediately try to cover them up, though a lot will definitely be slipping through. it’s going to take plenty of convincing and patience before you can get him to let them all out freely.
lets out the loudest gasp when your fingers push inside of him for the first time. it’s so weird and foreign to him yet he would never tell you to stop. he’ll let out the most pathetic cries as you plunge in and out of him. he’s already tearing up so much from the sensations of you stretching him out.
when he’s nearing the edge, he’ll instinctively reach out for your wrist, his nails digging into your skin as he weakly tries to stop you. poor boy is completely unfamiliar with a prostate orgasm that the oncoming feeling is so strange and unfamiliar to him.
and then it all finally hits him and it’s so good and yet so much that it’s almost unbearable. his legs are shaking uncontrollably as he’s letting full blown tears stream down his cheeks. his wings are so longer covering his face and are now fluttering around his head.
you probably need to give him a good few minutes or so to properly recover. of course during that wait, you need to pepper his face with kisses in order to soothe him.
let’s just hope he can handle what’s coming next.
an: that’s where i’m gonna end it off for now. unfortunately i don’t have the skills (or courage) yet to do more explicit scenes (😔) but with the way my sunday fixation is going there’s probably going to be many more
oh yeah this is also my first real smut post on this blog so i hope yall enjoy it

✮ THINKIN ABOUT...SATORU! im thinking about satoru gojo who fucking sobs when your fucking him. satoru is 100% a cryer during sex! intimacy makes him cry, but i promise its a good thing! even making out will have him teary, body begging for more of your touch. and the second something hits his prostate he's fucking sobbing. his cheeks are bright red along with his body, (he's also a full body blusher). his pretty pink dip is drooling and his body is roughly rocking with your thrusts. you hear him sniffling, his chest spasming as he tries to breathe. his black blindfold is soaking wet from his ridiculous amount of tears. your thumb hooks under the blindfold and pull it over his head, his hands flying to cover his face. under his lids are red, and his white eyelashes are sticking to eachother, those beautiful diamond eyes much glossier than usual.
"w—wait. hic! i—don't look, hic!" he attempts to speak in between hiccups. all words are thrown from his lips when you angle to hips and slam into him particularly hard. his hands fly to your propped arms, gripping them harshly as he throws his head back. fat tears stream down the side of his face when you fuck him, the tip of his cock tapping against his stomach over and over again, a thin string of cum connecting his stomach and tip. he doesn't remember how many times you've made him cum, but he does know your not gonns stop until he's brainless.

The last time I saw Lando was a few days ago, even after the tennis final, a blond-haired whore didn't get off him, but in the end, in a strange way, Holge told him to leave him alone, he's probably going home now, just as he'll have time to pack his stuff and take the dog, and then he'll go train for the race. Well, I think the roommate stopped there to say that it was a dog, and so did I. "Where did he get it from?" "Guards took in the beauty from a shelter." ,,Beauty? A girl? Damn, didn't he have enough Uno? Now he has another one pulled up next to him, I'm talking to him. don't send him anywhere just friends. I don't know what's wrong with him in Melbourne, he even took a pregnancy test and told me that he might be pregnant because he missed it." "Kids, stop, there's worse! By the way, hello, mother will cut off him ears and eardrums for this." ,,Cic hello! He's crazy since he says he's pregnant." ,.He says so? He's really pregnant, he seems to be taking a minimum, he's trying to cover up what he told Max and Pietra, Max's reaction I'd rather drive your sports car before the fetus gets hurt, even though he already knew Pietra froze, I was there Callum couldn't bear to spit and swallow, he just blinked when he found out that the boys they can also be pregnant."
"What the hell??? I got my ears pierced???? Where do you get this from again????” I looked at the secret chat group on my cell phone and it was full of people arguing about it, sometimes jokingly, sometimes seriously, the older ones seriously, how to take it out, it doesn't look good, the ones my age are jokingly, it's very good. Only I knew the answer to this, I took a photo and wrote it down, it's a fucking pimple that grew in the wrong place, stop it, it hurts and it's big, and this fucking breast is embarrassing, that's why I'm constantly wearing a fish tank because it's bothering me. "Honey, why are you angry? That's when you're cute, right?" Loki lay next to me and caressed my upper arm, then he lay on his side and looked at me. "There's gas, everyone's focused on my hormonal acne and they think I've pierced my ears." "Are these normal? Who was?" My sister, "Well, if it was meant as a joke, it wasn't a good joke." I lowered my head and asked Loki for a sad kiss, which came in handy as the twins were very fond of each other, but one of them resisted. When Doctor Yin told me, I burst into tears, I'm not a big cryer, but we really expected them to be sick, but they felt this was a trick and that's all I told Max, he didn't take it well last time.
"Well, it's getting weirder, it's not a pimple, it's a piercing." I hung up the phone after I wrote back so that he could finally do the truth about this shit, because he sure did. em acne because I had it too, I don't even admit it, it's fucking embarrassing and sometimes it hurts, this is how life has to be put up with. "Oscar, what's wrong? I know you shouldn't tell your girlfriend everything, but I can tell you everything." "What the hell is this?" I looked at my picture, it looked like a small tattoo that one's child plays pranks on after a drunken night. "I think an embarrassing tattoo that you can get drunk on guys is the slut tattoo." "Maybe this will be fucking new to you, but Lando is pregnant, you American bastard!!!! This isn't the series How I Met Your mother, you stupid person."
,,What??? They're getting dumber. Loki You have to see this.” I admit, yes, I have a bitch tattoo, but I did it last year on New Year's Eve, drunk in Bali, not exactly legally, and sometimes it can hurt during the day, and I also have a navel piercing. I was sixteen when I did this out of rebellion with a group of friends, so I don't keep in touch with any of them anymore, they became exterminating jerks when it turned out that I was gay. That I'm smitten with the ex of the mistress, who is a boy and right, we went to an art history and finally got together. Berdon is my first boyfriend. and the first boyfriend I told that I love him, so far I told a boy named Alex. It all ended badly, it was written in the lyrics when I heard the first one from him, I could sob for hours, but I wasn't the stupid one as it is, he was because he cheated on me with another boy.
I caressed Lando, it was very nice the last few days, especially the girl, what's in him ear? He thinks the girl talked to him, a fucking bitch, even a WAG, and it would be shit, the dog and mine, I don't understand what's the trial lesson in chat, it's secret I'm in the WAG chat and the problem is how big I wrote that my daughter and a beauty should be called I'm hoping for a baby... The air here is also freezing, a lot of questions from who is pregnant... I wrote from Lando Ollie Bearmann... Freezing... But Lando boy questions... Answer In one word, he's not intersex and he told me he'd already given birth and ended up in a bad place because of him father... Anger...He was still a teenager then but he could have done it but him father wouldn't let him, now he's an adult he feels he can do it and leaves him alone and he wouldn't want him there it would be only the mother when the little one was born. ,,I'm trying to stop here too, but Kelly..." I kissed him hair and sniffed the poor thing because it was more and more obvious that he was pregnant, but it didn't bother the cameras, and the fact that he's with a boy instead of a girl, which freaks out the girl fans even more, is lately, the poor thing just cries, I can hardly comfort him, I even brought my dog beauty to make him happier, but not as often as he goes out on the street, the paparazzis are screaming after him, where is the beautiful girl Norris. "It doesn't work for me, I prefer to cover myself and myself on the weekend. This is not a situation. I always knew that I loved boys and not girls. It's bullshit what they write about me."

Being a reincarnation sucks! and UWMA told us, but we were too happy for DeanPharm to listen!
Okay! This might be a little bit of a hot take, and also possibly a little theorizing. But I will stand my ground and die on this hill!
UWMA is my all-time favorite BL, and might I even say, one of my favorite web dramas ever!
It's a compelling, heartbreaking, beautiful story about a wonderfully healthy relationship between two very traumatized people. Finding each other, and in the process, reconnecting the tortured souls of two people who loved each other but weren't given the option to be happy together.
Now, though that scenario is not likely to happen to me or you, it's still an interesting story, using the soulmate trope to its ultimate advantage. I love the idea of a healthy, yet unconditional and unending love that prevails through all.
However, although I love the reincarnated love trope, there is a blatant fact that I, and many other UWMA fans have been oblivious to. and that is how much it would SUCK to be in our beloved Dean and Pharm's shoes!
What invoked me to make this post?
Well, it's plain and simple. I'm sick of all the complaining and making fun of My boy Pharm for being a cryer!
Am I biased because Pharm is my favorite character and I relate to the inability to stop myself from crying and it usually takes a while for me to stop, so I see a lot of myself in him? Maybe, but that's not important!
What's important is that I believe, people who complain or laugh at Pharm for this know that this is a response to PTSD, but don't take time to really acknowledge how bad this PTSD would be if you were faced with it in real life. This is why I want to shed light on how being the reincarnations of Korn and In have done little to nothing beneficial for Dean and Pharm, other than the fact it's what brought them together.
(But just an FYI, crying is a normal reaction to things, and maybe Pharm is just a very emotional and expressive softy and there is nothing wrong with that! MEN SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO CRY GODDAMNIT!)
Well, since I just ranted about the Pharm crying disrespect, might as well start with him and his respected past life counterpart, Intouch!
As we see all through UWMA, Pharm probably has the more blatant PTSD from his past life out of the couple, and it makes sense.
In was left to watch the man he loved take his own life in front of him. He was the one to witness his improvement, his confession, and his mutual decline until he had nothing left to say but "I love you" and "I'm Sorry", and in the end, he was still left alone. he is left cradling the body of not only the first man he probably ever openly loved but also the first person who he could actually relate to in a world that told him if he wanted to survive, he had to hide who he was.
This user makes an interesting point on how Korn dying isn't just a traumatizing event for In, but in his mind, also an act of betrayal. Because he promised him, yet he traumatized and left him alone in a world that would hate him for who he is.(in Intouch's mind ofc). Yet he also knows that though he is hurt, all he wants is to be with Korn, so he commits suicide to escape the life he'd have to live without him.
These very hard-hitting and intense feelings are already bad to live with for the one who actually experienced the trauma firsthand. But imagine, being a normal kid with a happy loving family, yet you are plagued by vague but traumatic memories that are not your own? you wake up crying every morning, you panic at any unsuspected loud noise, and you get seemingly random panic attacks that you can't even explain why they happen.
You seemingly have no valid reason to act this way. You want to stop, or at least to know why, but can't for the life of you understand. I think many people can understand the feeling of being depressed, angry, anxious, etc., and don't really know why. So they feel guilty and exhausted from these strong emotions they don't want or understand.
For Pharm, the more he learns about his situation, the more he's around Dean, and the more he learns about Korn and In, the more intense his episodes get. he has more nightmares, more flashbacks, and he's less able to discern In's emotions and pain from his own.
At one point, he even realizes that the more he finds out about In, the more power In's feelings of betrayal and anguish have on him. He ultimately decides he doesn't want to know how In died, believing what's done is done and it's best to leave it in the past, just for him to find out later and for all his efforts to stay himself to be diminished by In's immense grief.
He straight up almost DIES because In's soul can't distinguish Dean from Korn, and therefore Pharm from Intouch. And people still thinks he doesn't deserve to cry all he wants?
Moving onto the titular man that, for lack of a better phrase, "started it all", and his green-flag of a reincarnation! Dean and Korn.
(If you don't agree with the dean, green-flag statement, I respectfully disregard your opinion)
So... let's just get this out in the open. I believe Korn was always suicidal. Or at least, very depressed.
Now when I say that, I obviously can't know how his childhood went or when his mental health began to decline, but considering the family he was born into, and the time he was in when he realized he liked men, it's not too hard to suspect that these feelings have been festering for a while.
Korn was the eldest son of a mafia loan shark. We don't ever find out about his mother, whether she was around or not, but considering how his father treats him and his children, I can assume that even if she was in their life, his father would still be calling all the shots.
We know that Korn is expected to carry on the family business, and at the point of his life where we are introduced to him, we see his father is beginning to put even more pressure on him to start taking up jobs and practicing to take over when he's gone.
But we see that Korn doesn't want to take over. He doesn't want to hurt people and he just wants a normal life for his brothers and himself. However, due to familial obligation, and threats from his father, Korn is submitting himself to a life he hates for the sake of his brothers, so neither of them has to throw their lives away for their father's business.
At this point, the existence of Korn is miserable. He's being pressured to do something he desperately hates, to submit himself to a life he does not want. He's ostracized at university for his affiliation with loan sharks and his general anti-social demeanor(which is definitely a coping mechanism) He's being berated and called useless by his own dad, which would definitely hurt his view of himself. He cares about his brothers way too much to ever let them know how much he's hurting, isolating himself from their care. finally, his sexuality would make him a target for discrimination, so he's forced to hide more about himself until he's probably forced into a marriage with a person he does not love, producing an heir to take on the job he hates and officially restarting the generational trauma and cycle of abuse.
This person better explains what Korn was going through mentally and what In truly meant to him than I ever could. But basically, they say that before In, Korn had practically dug himself a hole he couldn't get out of, and he was living on autopilot. Just moving through the days, until the day would come when he couldn't take it anymore. I very much agree with this. and every flashback, when they get closer and closer to the day, you can see that he doesn't know how much longer he's gonna last. So now that he is at the point of hopelessness, all he can do is let him know he loves him, and apologize to him and their dads for making them witness what he was going to do, but also for leaving him.
Now, I see a lot of comments about how Korn was being selfish with taking his life, because not only did he do it in front of the person he loves, but also in the process, he left him alone in the world. I personally feel like these comments tend to push a little too much on Korn being selfish that it ends up almost coming off as victim blaming. And I want to make it perfectly clear, people who commit suicide do so (mainly) as a last resort. almost no one who is going through with committing the act is doing so out of spite or to hurt others. They do so because they believe there is no other way to escape or fix what's wrong in their life. Korn is no exception. He was in pain, and he needed help, but he believed there was nothing that could be done, and probably felt if he was out of the picture, he would no longer be a burden on In and he would finally put an end to all the war and suffering in his heart and in his life.
However, suicide is an act that at the end of the day hurts everyone the victim is close to. people who are affected by a loved one taking their own life can feel a piling number of emotions. Confusion, anger, guilt, etc. We see those emotions expressed in In, An(In's Sister), Korn's brothers, their dads, and even Pharm. These emotions are valid and it's a common response. So I won't blame the audience for empathizing with In more than Korn in this series. To be fair, even Dean holds resentment towards Korn once he finds out.
Which brings me to why it'd suck to be Dean. He's possessed by the soul of a very depressed and broken man with anti-social tendencies. He's having issues similar to Pharm where he has memories that are not his own, not to mention he's always preoccupied with looking for someone he has no idea may or may not exist. He also chooses to isolate himself from his parents and siblings for the sake of his paternal grandmother, making his relationship with them more strained once he has to be in their lives. (which may or may not be influenced by Korn due to his tendency in life to self-isolate.) He puts on a stern and responsible act for everyone to mask his social awkwardness, still looking for someone he does not know.
And when he finally feels happy and relieved because he's found the thing he's always felt was missing, it only gives him more questions of who those memories actually are, and what he and Pharm have to do with it. The more he finds out, the more his true anxieties begin to take over and he desperately tries to put on a brave face for his boyfriend because he knows Pharm is already going through a lot, and he wants to make sure he's not worried.
When he actually finds out who Korn and In were, and What Korn did, he immediately starts cursing Korn for what happened. But it's so much more than just him being hateful towards a man who took his own life. Because to him, whether he likes it or not, Korn is an aspect of him. Whatever Korn feels, he feels. Korn's actions are his actions. So whatever Korn did, Dean is responsible for.(at least in his mind)
So Dean is practically cursing himself, calling himself a bastard. to Dean, He's the reason Pharm is terrified whenever there is a loud unexpected noise, he's the reason Pharm has panic attacks, and he's the reason Pharm cries in his sleep. He thinks it's his fault that Pharm was so scared of being in a relationship with him, Not to mention he's probably dealing with Korn's soul feeling the same amount of self-loathing. To Korn, everything is his fault, and because of his actions, he abandoned, hurt, and killed the one person that made him keep going.
So now, Dean is left with double self-loathing, and blaming himself for things that were most definitely NOT his fault.
Now, onto my final point on what the worst part of being the reincarnations of two unresting souls. Which is the lack of being your own person. When your body is holding two separate souls constantly fluctuating on taking the wheel, don't be surprised if you feel just a tad bit unsure of who you are or what things in life are your own.
Now, there are some things that their past life events influence that are not bad and are in fact quite sweet. like how In always wanted to be good at cooking, and so Pharm is born with a mother who is great at cooking, and in the process learns to be a good cook. Or Korn going to the beach for the first time with In being one of his happiest memories, and so Dean grows to love the beach, and therefore swimming. But the main thing that this drama shows as its conflict through the series is both Dean and Pharm trying to stay themselves. To have their actions be their own. and also, when the whole reason they are reincarnations of these two men specifically is to reconnect them and fulfill a promise made long ago, there's also the conflict of how much of their love is genuinely theirs. That's probably the worst anxiety in the world! You finally find a person who can truly relate and understand what you're going through and you feel an intense unexplainable love for them, only for you to fear that the relationship you built together isn't based off of love that is yours. It makes you fear that you are hurting the other person because why would you stay with someone if you're not sure if you love them? This is something they both have to face in the final episode. They separate for a little bit to give themselves time to reflect on their own feelings and only after they know that the souls of In and Korn are content, do they know that the love they have is real and it's theirs.
So...Still think reincarnation is cute and fun?! There's a reason people work to finally escape Samsara! Thank you for coming to my rant lol!

how they act at their child’s wedding hcs ; eddie & frank
requested by ; arcade anon (08/07/23)
fandom(s) ; welcome home
fandom masterlist(s) ; here
character(s) ; eddie dear, frank frankly
outline ; “Arcade Anon again, here for UCS with a Poppy and Frank x Eddie request!
How bout Poppy and Frank+Eddie (separately!) on their kid's wedding day? The prep, the walking down the aisle, the reception, all that good stuff!!!”
note ; based on what the requester described this is very much so related on a traditional eurocentric wedding — but if requested i’m happy to do other variations of this request ^^
warning(s) ; none, just fluff!
frank is the type of dad who has a strict itinerary to follow — full checklist in arm as they make sure that everything from the food to the music to the decor is exactly as expected (he only wants the best for you)
eddie, meanwhile, handles the more people-centric side of planning and prep — keeping the wedding party all in one place and making sure that your drinks and snacks are at arm’s reach
they both cried when they saw you in your wedding clothes for the first time — eddie being more of a sob-cryer who pulled you into a bear-hug whilst frank was more of a quiet-cryer who cupped your face and said that you looked amazing/beautiful/handsome and that he couldn’t wait for your partner to see you wear it
they both proudly wear cufflinks that match the design of your outfit and would be beaming as they walked you — arm in arm in arm — down the aisle to meet your spouse
eddie and frank designed your wedding decor together based on you and your fiancé’s wishes — creating blueprints based on budges (frank’s input) and colour pallets (eddie’s specialty) that could be handed off to the professionals to do in bulk
frank bought you your ‘something blue’ in the form of a butterfly broach — it’s small but strong and made of sapphires as well as a callback to the first butterfly you caught with him as a child
eddie, meanwhile, took care of your ‘something borrowed’ by giving you the tie he wore at his wedding to repurpose to your wishes — its colourful enough and neither of them plan on getting married again, so it’d be nice to see it get a second life
you were given both a few months before the wedding itself but seeing you wearing them made your poor dads turn into emotional messes at the reception (after just about managing to contain themselves for the ceremony)
at the reception they gave a shared speech about you, your partner and your relationship — frank made it through about a third before needing to compose themselves again and eddie, shockingly, made it through the entire thing whilst only being a bit teary-eyed
it was filled with references to your childhood, inside jokes, your achievements and a (lighthearted) promise that your partner better take care of you or else they’d be facing two angry dads instead of one — they also alternated telling stories and such
they both step up for the traditional dance with you and will go in whichever order you prefer — though eddie prefers something much more fast paced and fun whilst frank would probably prefer a slower song that gives him the chance to tell you how dang proud of you they are
they both drink but not much, wanting to make the most of your wedding and remember it all — though eddie is a lightweight and will get pretty flushed after only a few drinks
when it comes time for the pictures, eddie is always grinning broadly and frank is giving a smaller proud smile — though both will have a hand on your shoulder
(after everything is said and done you will definitely see your dads crying about how ‘their baby’ is all grown up — it’s adorable but don’t disturb them because they’ll try and hide how emotional they were, especially frank who’s much more teary-eyed than his husband)

My contribution to the first day of Kazuki Week 2023: grief/acceptance. Sorry double posting, but I figure it's more accessible to post the entire fic here on Tumblr. You can also read it on AO3.
Title inspired by this song. And for your vibe considerations.
Your Mess Is Mine
QPR or mlm KazuRei. Post-finale, Pre-Time Skip. Family fluff.
Summary: Kazuki, Rei, and Miri attend Karin's wedding in France. Before this, Kazuki and Rei's relationship was largely undefined because they were both fine with whatever that is going on.
────
When Karin flashed her engagement ring over video chat a year ago, Kazuki didn’t imagine he’d be in the French countryside, walking her down the aisle, with Miri tossing petals just steps before them. Karin clung to “Kazu-nii” all those years ago; and just now, she hooked her arm around his again.
Yuzuko’s death once separated them. Parentless and raised by her elder sister, young Karin went to live with a distant relative up north, while Kazuki remained in Tokyo. He believed that she resented him for taking her only family away. Then they reconnected again, and she fitted right into his newfound family. Miri and Karin adore each other, and Rei warmed up to her quickly, too.
Kazuki feels the tears well up. Don’t cry, don’t cry, they’re taking photos. He looks at her; Karin is beautiful in the gown she designed herself. She looks right back at him, the way she squints when she smiles, the same quirk Yuzuko had. I’m walking her down the aisle, Yuzu. Can you believe it? He presses his lips together, but a blink lets the droplets fall.
“Aw, come on, you’re such a cryer,” Karin says, with a smile so dazzling that he almost misses her misty eyes. “You’re gonna make me cry, too.” The two giggles at how silly they look trying to fight back tears.
────
After retiring from their previous careers and moving out of the city to a seaside town, Kazuki and Rei (mostly Kazuki, really) made local friends and were invited to weddings a couple of times. But this particular wedding is unlike anything they’ve experienced. For starters, the celebration is hosted at a chateau—or what Miri excitedly called a castle. Karin’s husband is an award-winning chef specializing in Japanese-French cuisine, so the food is bound to be exquisite. Not to mention, French weddings are an all-day affair, as they’ve been warned that dinner will be served at 9 pm, and the party after will last till dawn.
As her first trip outside of Japan, or perhaps just as a 9-year-old, Miri is having the time of her life. “We’re staying at a castle!” Their room is furnished with one king-sized bed. Kazuki and Rei looked at each other and shrugged.
In the four and a half years they’ve left their old lives behind, the family of three had had a few living situations. After the loft apartment, they moved into an old unit with a tatami floor in the only bedroom. Much to young Miri’s delight, the three of them slept together for an entire year.
It wasn’t an easy year; stuck in a shoe box, between assimilating into civilian life, parenthood, and Rei’s disability, Kazuki and Rei had disagreements. Many. Never fighting in front of Miri was the one thing they could agree on from the start.
But it was also that year when they grew much closer. The reality forced them to communicate, and to face issues head on. Ultimately, Kazuki and Rei wanted the same thing: a safe, happy childhood for Miri. Every time they fought, it was to protect that vision. In that same year, they began to truly mold and fit into each other, consciously or unconsciously. From Kazuki walking on Rei’s right side, Rei’s ability to maneuver in the kitchen alongside Kazuki, to the way they sleep in the futons on tatami.
────
The day of the wedding, Kazuki stood before the armoire; a black suit for him, a navy suit for Rei, and a satin and tulle dress Karin had made for Miri in a shade of sage green that flatters her eyes and hair. She’d even hand sewed her name, in cursive, on the inside of the dress.
“Reminds me of the night before her first day at daycare,” Kazuki said in a tone reminiscent of something like nostalgia.
“A much better job than we’ll ever do,” Rei took a glance then chuckled.
“Can’t argue with that.”
Kazuki zipped up the dress then fluffed up the wrinkled tulle skirt. Miri twirled excitedly. “Can I go? Can I go?” Her eyes sparkled.
“Don’t run too far, be back here in 10 minutes, okay?” She nodded then disappeared behind the door. By the sound of her heels, she was skipping down the hall.
Kazuki combed and tied Rei’s hair into a sleek low ponytail. Rei had kept it at mid length, after discovering his strands form loose waves with the right haircut, instead of a puffy, frizzy mess. Though Kazuki never called it a mess; he’d say it was fluffy while ruffling through it.
“I can do it myself,” Rei said. Kazuki fastened the necktie just right, then smoothed down the collar. “I know. But I like doing it.”
“Hmm.”
────
After the ceremony, it’s the cocktail hours. When the blonde man finally returns with a plate of hors d'oeuvre and two flutes, Rei snares. “Done harassing your brother-in-law?”
“This is the time! A real, living Michelin star chef. I had to.”
“So what did you steal from him.” Rei takes a sip as he watches Miri playing with other children across the room.
“He said we should try using baguette instead of milk bread for French toast.”
“We could test with baguette on the next day off. What else?”
“Something about olive oil… I’m not sure. His Japanese isn’t fluent. And a lot of the food terms were in French,” Kazuki pauses to enjoy the finger food. “You have to try this.”
Rei studies the little piece of toast with various toppings, “Nah. It has olives.”
Kazuki picks out the olive, eats it, then offers Rei again by shoving it directly in front of his face. Rei reluctantly eats off Kazuki’s hand.
“Not bad.”
“Right?”
────
The dinner was a feast. Multi-course, modern Japanese-French cuisine with wine pairings. Rei swears that Kazuki was nearly brought to tears, again. “The miso? The miso in the sauce? Brilliant. Gosh. I wish I was Karin.” Kazuki gushes.
“Don’t even think about stealing my husband, Kazuki,” the tipsy bride waltzes over with a wine glass in hand. Her pretend stern face turns into giggles as soon as she sees Rei. “I don’t think Rei-kun would be happy with that either!”
“Why wouldn’t I be—“
Karin shushes him. “Stop it. Stop. It flew right over you again and I’m not explaining.” Rei closes his gaping mouth in confusion.
“Go get Miri! I’m doing the bouquet toss in a bit!” The giddy bride says before hopping away towards the groom, who waits to take her hand with the fondest look on his face.
“What was that?” Rei asks. Kazuki puts a hand on his back and shakes his head.
“Figured.”
────
Kazuki and Miri wait with a group of women who are participating in the bouquet toss.
“This is so fun,” She says as she yawns. Too much fun, perhaps. It is getting late. “When you and Rei-papa get married, can I be a flower girl again?” She looks up at Kazuki and asks nonchalantly.
“Eh? Why—“
“Kazuki! Get outta there! You’re not getting this bouquet!” Karin shouts and swings her arm dramatically. Her cheeks are flushed and her steps are slightly unsteady. She looks so happy.
“My bad, my bad…” Kazuki holds up his hands as he moves out of the way. The guests laugh at their sibling banter.
The excited crowd gathers. This is where the real fun of the night begins. Karin turns around and does a couple of swings before her toss; the guests watch attentively in anticipation.
“Three… two… one!” The bride jumps and hurls backward, sending the bouquet across the ballroom. In front of the group, Miri realizes the bundle of flowers isn’t coming their way. It’s going completely sideways, towards the wine table. Everyone’s eyes follow the flying bouquet.
Rei flexes his left arm and catches it backhandedly. He turns around, prosecco in one hand, flowers in the other, utterly flabbergasted. The guests go wild; several women swarm him. That man wasn’t even looking!
Miri weaves through the traffic, throws herself at Rei, and squeals. “That was so cool!” She beams and hugs his waist tightly. “My papas are getting married!”
“Eh? What do you mean—“
“Congratulations!” The guests cheer, making him even more flustered. What is Miri saying? He scans the crowd in a panic, but couldn’t find a single familiar face.
Then he sees it. Strawberry blonde, a pair of bright, tea-brown eyes, and a crooked grin. Kazuki swims through the crowd and makes it to Rei and Miri.
“Rei-papa and Kazuki-papa are getting married!”
“Wow, haha, um, nice catch!” Kazuki says awkwardly. Damn it, my nerves! Rei doesn’t say anything, eyes wide like a deer in the headlight. “Um, you all right? Rei?”
“I saw something in the corner of my eye and… this.” He holds up the bouquet, “That wasn’t very normal people of me.” Rei mutters, ears still hot from all the attention.
Kazuki chuckles slyly, “Sure was very assassin of you.”
Rei dishes a side eye and chucks the flowers in his face.
────
They finally coaxed Miri into going to bed. The condition: she gets to hold on to the bouquet when she does. The two men step out to the garden for some fresh air. Rei takes out a brand new pack of cigarettes in French packaging.
“Haven’t seen you smoke in a while,” Kazuki commented.
“Well, it’s for the occasion.” He lights it up, takes a drag, and promptly coughs.
“Can’t handle it anymore?”
“Shut up. I just wasn’t expecting it to be this strong.”
The lively music flows out from the chateau, a stark contrast to the serene and sleepy countryside.
“…would you do it?”
“Do what?”
“Sign the papers.”
“Sign what papers?”
“Gosh, Rei, do I really need to spell it out?”
“You know the answer.”
“Fine.” Kazuki sighs, wishing he’d had a drink before this. “Like, getting married or whatever. Hypothetically, of course.”
Rei takes a long drag and exhales. “I mean, you’re the one who was married.”
“That was different.”
“How so?”
Kazuki pictures the day he and Yuzuko got married at the city hall. She was in a sundress, and he was in a shirt and tie that were sold as a set. But that wasn’t really it, was it? Marriage is… what comes after. Though their marriage barely lasted, and it wasn’t their fault. Kazuki reaches his hand over, Rei passes the cigarette.
Kazuki coughs.
“Told you.”
“Yeah, thanks for the warning.” Regaining composure, Kazuki continues. “You know she died six months later.”
Rei remains silent.
“But it was easy—the decision to get married. It was just the thing to do, you know? If I could do it over, I’d marry her again. She was what I needed. At the time. I… loved her. I really did. And I still do, I think.” He pauses, looking back at the chateau. “Like how I love Karin and Miri. I’d do anything for them—I’d die in their place, if I could.”
The thought of Miri or Kazuki dying sends a chill down his spine. Rei turns his head away. “That’s grim. We’re at a wedding.”
“I know. But—and then there’s you. And I’d do the same for you, too.”
“I can handle myself.”
“That’s not what I mean.”
“Then what do you mean, Kazuki? You asked me a hypothetical question and went on about… about the people you love. What’s that got to do with each other? I can’t understand you when you go roundabout like that.” Rei pauses, filling his lungs with brisk air. “I need you to tell me exactly what it is.”
Kazuki traces the outline of the man before him, then puts his arm around his slim frame. Rei leans in and rests his head on his shoulder. “We’re not fighting though, are we?”
“Of course not, dummy,” Kazuki says softly.
“Idiot.”
“Jerk.”
“…it’s warm.”
“Hmm.”
“I like you.”
“What did you just say?” Kazuki pulls away, “What are you, a teenager?”
“I didn’t like anyone when I was a teenager.”
“Don’t get smart with me,” he fixes Rei’s crooked tie, “I love you.”
Rei brings them back together and burrows his face in the strawberry blonde.
“I love you, too.”
────
The guests circle the newlyweds as they open the dance. Kazuki and Rei watch from a safe distance, sipping on drinks.
Rei finishes his dessert wine. “This is delicious, why do they serve it in such a small glass?”
“Probably because only an ant like you could drink it,” Kazuki scrunches his nose, “It’s sickly sweet.”
“No, it’s not, it has… layers.”
“I think it’s too sweet.”
“Can we stock these at the diner?”
“Absolutely not.”
“You suck,” Rei pouts, “I’m going to get more.”
10 minutes later, Rei is visibly tipsy. “I learned,” he says as he puts his hand on the small of Kazuki’s back, “these are called dessert wine.” His eyes twinkle. Oh no. Kazuki knows this look.
“Let’s go!” Rei tugs on the lapels.
“You don’t even like dancing!”
“Yeah, but, Karin says we have to.”
Kazuki glances over, Karin is in the middle of the dance floor, picking up her floor-length skirt, laughing and twirling to the poppy music. Kazuki hesitates. He can’t dance to save his life. A happy drunk Rei is mesmerized by the joy spilling over from the dance floor.
Then the music changes. It’s a slower instrumental piece; anyone can tell that it’s a love song. The crowd slows down. Then the groom waltzes in, Karin takes his hand. Cheek to cheek, they step and sway to the rhythm. The guests pair up and follow their lead.
Rei looks at Kazuki, eyes twinkling. He gives in. Then Rei smiles the only way he can: a thin-lipped, strained smile. But Kazuki knows better than anyone else. This is Rei’s happy face. He takes his left hand, and he places his right on his heart. He pulls him in with an arm around the waist.
“Is your arm okay like that?” Kazuki asks, in a voice only Rei can hear. Rei hums. They move with the music; knowing nothing about dancing, they just follow their instincts. Rei puts his head down on Kazuki’s shoulder and closes his eyes.
“Don’t fall asleep on me.”
“Hmm.”
────
Daylight breaks into the ballroom, the partied-out guests sit around, nibbling hot onion soup.
Rei’s glossy, wavy, raven-colored hair is down, draping over his shoulders. Kazuki’s shirt is stained with wine. Their ties are missing. The two huddle together, eating soup.
“If it’s possible, it’d be nice.”
“What?”
“To get married. To you.”
“I see.”
“Tsk. That’s it?”
“You want me to propose now?”
“Maybe.”
“Then I propose to—add French onion soup to the menu.”
“Okay.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. It’s delicious.”
“That’d be nice.”
“Hmm.”
“To get married. If it’s possible. That is.”
“Okay. What about dessert wine?”
“No.”
“Fine.”
Kazuki warps Rei into his arms and rests his chin on his left shoulder. Their cheeks touch; slightly sticky with sweat, wine, and maybe a little bit of happy tears.
[ The End ]
Thank you for reading! Fun fact: the baguette French toast is a secret menu at this little cafe run by a French couple near where I used to live. The best French toast hands down. I want to thank the anon who sent in the lovely idea of a KazuRei story at Karin’s wedding.

just gotta let you know that your response to the diapered tim ask where tim is sobbing over wetting himself literally launched me into a seven page fuge state fic writing coma that includes dick telling tim that he just needs to let go and relax and let them take care of him while tim cries in confusion and pain and insists that he needs to be let up so that he doesn’t make a mess! something about a tim very reluctant to being taken care of and then being forced to be taken care of in the most embarrassing and infantileizing way possible is poetic cinema
!!!!! yessss!!!! i'm so happy others appreciate the beauty of tim being a cryer and his family taking complete control over him in every manner😍😍😍😍😍 and then also tim's reluctance and unwillingness where he doesn't want to be vulnerable but being forced into a vulnerable position anyway by his family. they humiliate him and then coo over him, kissing his wet, tear-streaked cheeks as he cries. 😍😍😍

Meet my Oc’s!
Samantha Marie Waters
From my series Sunshine Starlight Sweetheart Brightside, Sam is an energetic, quirky, compassionate redhead from a large family. With a history of child abuse, sexual assault and mental illness, when she meets Steven, Marc and Jake she does a good job at hiding it. She thinks.
Rebecca Levi
From Seattle, this is Rebecca after Marc has to come get her when she finally decides to leave her abusive husband after years of abuse leaving her with scarring on her face. Rebecca is intense, hard working with a strong sense of justice towards everyone except herself. Rebecca is proudly Jewish.
Candy
Candy started as just a reader with a nickname but took a like of her own. A prostitute in 70’s Colombia she is an informant to Javier Peña and Santiago Garcia. She is self sufficient, outspoken and protective of those she holds dear. Candy is Colombian and has worked her way out of brothels to own her own sex work completely.
Lacina Marie Dumas
First picture is when santi first finds her tied up in a basement. Second picture is several months later, Laci is happy and getting better, one step at a time. Laci is a gentle soul, girly, giggly, cried easily and cares deeply for others. Despite being all of 5 feet (barely) she is fiercely protective of 6’3 Ben miller. Her father was an immigrant from French and she speaks French. She’s soft and empathetic.
Jana Abeda Fernandez
Frankie Morales’s “lady” and the mother of his children, Jana never stopped loving him when they broke up after she got sober and he couldn’t just yet. But she never gave up on the love of her life, supporting him until the time was right to get back together. Lorelei Ngoc Giang
A lover of all things old Hollywood, Lorelei dresses like something out of a 50’e fashion magazine. Don’t let her classy look and love of flowers fool you, Lorelei doesn’t fuck around. Will swears he fell in love the day he met her when she was Ben’s ER nurse and she didn’t take his shit. When her ex boyfriend slapped her, she knocked out his tooth. Lorelei is calm, self-assured in her abilities and brain but less in her self worth. She’s stunningly beautiful, incredibly intelligent and if she thinks you’re being a dick, she’ll tell you.
Cameron MacDonald
Not introduced yet in the LaL universe, Cam is Ben’s “one that got away” a wondering soul, a stoner hippie, Cam is a seasonal farmhand, working odd jobs during off season and traveling the country in his van. Ben is happy, goofy, hardworking and can match bens high energy
And finally
Clementine O’Niel
Originally a reader in the wrong way known as “little one”, I’m adapting the fic into a dark romance novel. Emmy is Arab and Irish, her father marrying her mother overseas, but where, no one knows.m Emmy is horrifically traumatized from the abuse of her father and other men, but even still she never stops trying. She’s emotional, a frequent cryer but also self sufficient and capable in many ways. She loves Joel very much despite it all, but she loves her unborn child more than anything

Photo
Just two quick gifs of Moonlight Chicken EP7 but this scene broke my heart. And Khaotung is such a good/beautiful cryer. I started crying as well when I watched this scene. Also with him you could feel the heartbreak and regret he was feeling as if it was your own.

Top 5 Supergirl episodes!
oh I love this question!
Midvale (season 3, episode 6)- the Young Kara and Alex episode, featuring actresses who perfectly embody younger versions of Melissa Benoist and Chyler Leigh as they work together to solve a mystery and end up bonding/becoming closer. Always great to watch, also loved Kenny, glad they brought him back post-Crisis.
Falling (season 1, episode 16)- the Red Kryptonite episode, featuring fantastic acting from Melissa and impact for the rest of the season in how it was resolved. I love season 1 and could easily pick any of the episodes from it (Livewire, For the Girl Who Has Everything, Solitude, Human For a Day, Red-Faced, Manhunter, etc.... literally this whole list could be episodes from season 1) but I think this one is the best.
The Adventures of Supergirl (season 2, episode 1)- first of all, named after the great Sterling Gates comic series tying into the show that everyone should read. Second, this episode features the first appearance of Superman properly in this universe, and I loved seeing him and Kara on-screen together. I didn't love Kara randomly breaking up with James in this episode, but I think everything else was very good.
Legion of Super-Heroes/The Bottle Episode (tie, season 3 episode 10 and season 5 episode 10 respectively)- because I couldn't choose! the first one features Brainy's first appearance and him bonding with Kara inside her mind, and the second features him becoming uninhibited and a beautiful scene with him and Kara where she finds out about his painful past and comforts him, leading to the aforementioned becoming uninhibited and getting a new costume/green skin and blond hair as he's supposed to look. I love Brainy, he's (for most part) my favorite character in the series from when he appears onward, and I love how he's established as a character and how he develops/evolves, and these episodes feature both of those things.
The House of L (season 4, episode 16) the "it was Lex Luthor (insert music note emojis) All Along" episode, it's just really well-done and I like all the flashbacks here, Red Daughter as a character was also established well, she gets a lot of great moments and Melissa again was great as this alternate version of Kara. Jon Cryer surprised a lot of people as Lex and while I think he might have appeared too much later on, he's great here too.
Honorable mentions: Again like half of season 1, The Martian Chronicles, City of Lost Children, Resist, a good chunk of season 3, The American Alien, Ahimsa, Bunker Hill, Stand and Deliver, Tremors, Welcome Back, Kara!, Blind Spots

🗡-Knight
👑👧-Queen
👑🙎♂️-King
🏰-All
-------------------------------------------------------
♟All of the Pawns (canon) are males and they all siblings and octoplets and 10 years old.
♟Even though they are just in the same age some of them considering themselves as the eldest or the youngest.
♟They love pranks, that's why they get their nicknames as The Pink Trolls.
♟Well as normal role of siblings they were between a love and hate relationship.
♟They all have wooden double decks. Some of them didn't want to go to bed because darkness scares them they afraid that Devil himself might watching them to give them nightmares. So as for that they going down in the castle before nighttime and collect some fireflies to turn their own small lanterns into their nightlight even though...their heads glows in pink

He also wanted always to listen to Bishop's bible studies cause it feels like it was story telling to him
♟Pawns are like the younger version of the chess folks. So they keep studying and focusing on their skills to get their ranks once they get into their right age. They mostly wanted to be the Queen because of her power but according the rules Queen supposed to be a female so they need to marry one female someday and they can be the King and have a Queen

The tributes have begun to pour in for NCIS veteran David McCallum, who died this morning at 90 in New York.
McCallum was the last remaining original cast member on CBS’ NCIS. He played Chief Medical Examiner Donald “Ducky” Mallard, an eccentric but highly efficient investigator with a knack for psychological profiling, for two decades.
His former NCIS colleague Michael Weatherly wrote on X that “David McCallum made every moment count, in life and on set. Let’s raise a jug and celebrate a funny fantastic authentic man. I’ve only got 3 autographs. Connery, Tony Bennett and McCallum. I felt the same way as Steve McQueen in this picture from The Great Escape: Wow! It’s David McCallum! No one did it better. We were lucky to have him bring us Ducky. Let’s send all the love in the world to his beautiful family. Rest In Peace David.”
Lauren Holly, who played Jenny Shepherd on NCIS from 2005 to 2015, weighed in by saying, “RIP David McCallum. You were the kindest man. Thank you for being you.”
Another Duckie remembered McCallum on X today: Jon Cryer.
“Devastating to hear as a fan. And worse as someone lucky enough to have worked with him,” said Cryer, who played Duckie in the 1986 film Pretty in Pink. “I’m so grateful I had the chance. A witty, joyful and wonderful actor. He was the guy Duckie called “Ducky” My sincerest condolences to his friends and family.”
McCallum’s extensive TV series credits also include The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Invisible Man, The Education of Max Bickford, Sapphire and Steel, Colditz, Motherlove, Kidnapped, and episodes of The Outer Limits, Law & Order and Sex and the City.

Does anyone want a collection of screenshots of all Daniel Kitson's entries in Edinburgh Fringe Festival programs? Because I made a collection of screenshots of all Daniel Kitson's entries in Edinburgh Fringe Festival programs (courtesy of this website, and the things in it are really worth looking through if you're interested in comedy at all). It's something I do with my life sometimes.
Note: This was meant to be just a collection of screenshots, obviously turns into a catalogue of his whole career. Obviously. It got a little out of hand as I was writing.
1999
The Number One Show
Joint late-night Gilded Balloon thing with Andrew Maxwell and Trevor Lock. He has told stories about this on stage sometimes, about how in the late 90s he mainly performed in rough London clubs including the Comedy Cafe where he was absolutely horrible to the audience, and then went to Edinburgh where he acted the same way until Trevor Lock and Andrew Maxwell told him that Edinburgh isn't the same as the Comedy Cafe and he needs to tone it down.
When he tells that story, he says Edinburgh 1999 was hard because he had a bit of a crisis when he realized they were right and he'd been acting badly. This critical self-reflection is a wild contrast to how he came across in a documentary that chronicled his time at Edinburgh in 1999 with:
The Monkey Touchers
Noel Faulkner, owner of the aforementioned Comedy Cafe, took some of their comedians to do shows out of the back of a truck in Edinburgh, including Daniel Kitson who performed with another guy named Lee Canterbury as The Monkey Touchers. Neither of them come off well in the documentary that showcases this, but it's worth noting that he was only 22, and you cannot hold people to everything they said when they were 22.
Fun fact: that Barry Cryer quote comes from this video, of the finals of the 1995 BBC New Comedy Awards. Daniel Kitson made those finals when he was only 18 (he didn't win, but Julian Barratt did win, Lee Mack's in it too, the whole thing's worth watching), Barry Cryer's one of the judges, and while discussing Kitson's performance, Barry Cryer says he felt sick at the thought of someone so young being such a strong performer.
2001
Daniel Kitson did not return to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2000, but came back in 2001 with:
Love, Innocence, and the Word Cock
Note the large-ish poster that even has some colour on it - this was when he still had an agent who made him do publicity things, but more than that I think it was before he even personally objected to publicity things. Unironic praise in the blurb, genuinely trying to sell himself. And it worked, he was nominated for the Best Newcomer Award. Which he lost to the Garth Marenghi stage show (precursor, of course, to the brilliant TV show) with Matthew Holness, Richard Ayoade, and Alice Lowe.
I think this was also his first year hosting Late 'n' Live, putting those Comedy Cafe skills to work. It was definitely a year when he hosted Late 'n' Live (not 100% sure it was the first, but it probably was as he wasn't there in 2000 and was new to the whole festival in 1999), because there's a documentary series about Late 'n' Live that shows Kitson hosting it in 2001. Specifically, it shows him working with Adam Hills and Ross Noble to drag a drunk Johnny Vegas off stage.
2002
Something
A poster again, but it's smaller, and there's no colour this time.
Big year, this was the show that won the Perrier Award and he got so angry about having success foisted upon him that he refused to let anyone find out he exists ever again. I find the line "on the verge of critical backlash" quite funny, as he's been saying for years that he's had his time in the sun and everyone is going to get sick of him soon, but it's extra funny that he was already saying it by 2002. This show was about love and his grandmother, his first significant move toward thoughtful beautiful stuff and away from calling people cunts in the Comedy Cafe. Although I think it was also the second year he hosted Late 'n' Live, so he wasn't entirely done with calling people cunts.
2003
A Made Up Story
Another poster, black and white but this one took up half a page.
This show seems to have been a turning point in Kitson's career. First theatre show he ever did - this was a fictional story with video and lighting cues and shit like that, rather than stand-up. He's said he made it specifically to get rid of the horrible fans who liked him because he called people cunts in The Comedy Cafe and Late 'n' Live, or because he played a role in Phoenix Nights. He was also trying to drive away the general increase in numbers he got after winning the Perrier in 2002. The way he did that was by writing a sensitive theatre piece that no fans of Phoenix Nights or of calling people cunts would enjoy.
Meanwhile, he did slightly contradict this by spending the time in Edinburgh when he wasn't doing the sensitive theatre piece hosting the fairly insensitive Late 'n' Live. This was the year they took apart a cow.
He did also do a stand-up show in 2003, called Overrated and on Tour (the title a sarcastic reference, again, to his Perrier success). But he didn't take it to Edinburgh because he didn't want people to actually see it. He only wanted them to see the theatre.
2004
Dancing
No poster. He's gone far enough down the anti-publicity road to have stopped doing those.
That's a sufficiently vague blurb to suggest he did not know what this would be when he started writing the show, which makes sense, as it was a bit of an odd year. He did a tour that year, called Lover, Thinker, Artist, Prophet (again, sarcastic reference to his critical success), that was quite straightforward stand-up. This was the first tour during which Gavin Osborn accompanied him, not as part of his actual show, but playing songs before it, or during a break in the middle.
However, in Edinburgh he did not perform that. He instead performed a show that he did not perform anywhere outside of Edinburgh 2004, called Dancing. This was a breakup show about that Australian woman who left him for a musician and then he didn't stop talking about it on stage for over ten years, but this show was just after it happened so a more reasonable time to do breakup material. It's a nice show, with some themes and a structure and it's all wrapped around different stories about his relationship to dancing, and it's on Bandcamp.
My guess is that he left the blurb vague because when he wrote it, he hadn't yet written Dancing but was upset about a breakup and wanted to do something besides his regular stand-up tour show to acknowledge that.
In the audio version on Bandcamp, they mention at the end that Political Animal is starting right afterward. That was the mixed bill show where comedians would do political material and was compered by John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman, and Kitson used to perform there too. So I think he appeared on Political Animal as well as doing Dancing in 2004, and he was hosting Late 'n' Live.
2005
He's back on posters. This was just before he left his agent, citing that he didn't like being told he had to do promotional things, so maybe part of what he got mad about was having to go back to putting a poster in the Edinburgh program. In protest, he made it an extremely simple poster with no colour or anything advertising it.
Also possibly also in protest against publicity, he didn't even give the show a title. This show was performed many times in the classic cycle - early WIPs in late 2004/early 2005, more advanced previews in mid-2005, a run in Edinburgh, and a few performances post-Edinburgh, and at no point was it given a title. Which is very annoying for me, as I try to organize my collection of Kitson files. It's a lovely show though, and also on Bandcamp (where it's called Midnight at The Stand, but that can't be the actual title, because he performed it outside of Edinburgh and at those times it wasn't at The Stand, even though the blurb says World Premiere).
Stories for the Wobbly-Hearted
This entry was in the theatre section (that's why it's a different colour - comedy is purple, theatre is red), and immediately shows a contrast that would continue for a while: he was more willing to promote his theatre than his stand-up. This poster is much bigger and nicer than his stand-uo one, has an image and some colour. I guess he figured theatre people are nice sensitive souls whom he wants in his audience, while comedy fans just want to see him call people cunts so he doesn't want to attract those. Also, at the time, he'd been doing stand-up a long time and had established a strong audience for that. But he was new to theatre shows, and as much as he said he started writing those to drive away his comedy audience, he did need some audience for them, so he had to work a bit more to introduce himself to theatre fans. That's my guess, anyway, about why he put nice posters in the theatre sections of Edinburgh programs when not going the same for stand-up shows.
This was his second theatre show and is probably the most purely sentimental show he's ever done. I think it's lovely, but it was also very much what people mean when they make jokes about Daniel Kitson writing sappy sad twee stories about people and love and loneliness. It's also on Vimeo. It includes some multi-media, including video clips that feature Gavin Osborn and Amy Darcy. Some versions also include Gavin Osborn performing songs live.
He was also hosting Late 'n' Live again, and would have appeared on Political Animal that year.
2006
Weltanschuung
This was his huge, flagship show of 2006. It was his most ambitious show to date, a tightly themed manifesto about his beliefs on mainstream and alternative culture and about society in general and pretty much everything. It's also on Bandcamp. He started doing WIPs of it at the very beginning of 2006 (though some of the material in it he started in late 2005), toured it all over the UK, performed it constantly for about six months. He took it to the Melbourne Comedy Festival in the spring.
In June, he did his first-ever performance in Regent's Park. For the first half he did Weltanschuung, for the second half he did Storiers for the Wobbly-Hearted with Gavin Osborn playing songs. It was a huge moment in Kitson history, doing this big ambitious stand-up show and then this twee twinkly story show in a special outdoor venue to a much bigger crowd than usual and he had Gavin doing songs and it seems like a beautiful summation of his career thus far. I'm almost sure it was also the last time he ever performed Weltanschuung.
In any case, he didn't take it to Edinburgh. It was part of a move toward pulling back on stand-up in Edinburgh, and pushing theatre stuff instead. My guess is he did this because Edinburgh is where performers go to expand their audiences, and he wanted to expand his theatre audience, but not his comedy one.
C-90
He did, however, do this in Edinburgh in 2006. C-90, another really sentimental theatre show about mixed tapes, which had no poster but he did at least advertise it with a blurb in the theatre section.
He did not do Late 'n' Live that year. Instead, he did:
The Honurable Men of Art
This show was created when Kitson got sick of all the cunts at Late 'n' Live, so he took his toys (and by toys, I mean Chocolate Milk Gang) to The Stand for their own late-night mixed bill thing, where they'd do fun nerdy things like play scrabble on stage, and no one was allowed to be a cunt. It featured a rotating cast each night of whatever Chocolate Milk Gang members were around. One of those rotating cast members was meant to be John Oliver, as mentioned in that blurb. He's in the blurb because that program was printed before what Andy Zaltzman has referred to as "that day in June 2006 when [John Oliver] told me he wanted to do the Daily Show job in America, instead of going with me to Edinburgh to talk to 25 people a day in a darkened room." Andy Zaltzman had to re-do the Zaltzman and Oliver joint Edinburgh show to be a Zaltzman only show, and host Political Animal on his own. And Daniel Kitson was down a person in his Honourable Men of Art lineup. They did, however, sometimes have John Oliver join via the best live video linkup technology 2006 had to offer.
2007
It's the Fireworks Talking
This was another big, flagship show for Daniel Kitson, which is why I find it odd that he said in the blurb he didn't know what it would be. He definitely knew about It's the Fireworks Talking by the time he had to write that blurb, even though that was a few months in advance, as he'd been doing It's the Fireworks Talking since early 2007. He even had it polished enough by the spring to take it to the Melbourne Festival, where it won the Barry Award. But still, when he had to write his Edinburgh blurb, he thought he might not do it there.
He did end up doing It's the Fireworks Talking in Edinburgh. My guess is maybe he'd hoped to write something else and then didn't get around to it so figured he'd just fall back on backup option of the Barry-winning stand-up show. It's a fucking incredible show, and it's on Bandcamp.
He didn't do Honourable Men of Art that year, he was back at the Gilded Balloon hosting Late 'n' Live. I'm pretty sure 2007 was the last year he did that.
This has nothing to do with Edinburgh, but he did another Regent's Park show with Gavin Osborn in June that year. The stand-up half was It's the Fireworks Talking, and the story half was The Ballad of Rodger and Grace (also on Bandcamp), which featured stories by Daniel Kitson and songs by Gavin Osborn.
2008
The Impotent Fury of the Privileged
Another big, manifesto-like stand-up show, this time getting somewhat political, talking about the way the world's going and how to bring back compassion and whole lot of other stuff in this densely packed, complex, nearly two-hour show. It's not always perfect, but I think it's overall amazing in many ways, and it's on Bandcamp.
He performed it all over the place throughout the year, including at another Regent's Park night with Gavin Osborn in June. That night, the stand-up half was The Impotent Fury of the Privileged, and the story half was called The Revenge of Heckmondwyke.
However, he didn't take Impotent Fury of the Privileged to Edinburgh, instead focusing on his theatre show there again:
66A Church Road
Note the Higgldy Piggldy thing - he'd left his agent a couple of years earlier, and had to set himself up as an incorporated thing so he could manage himself, and legally had to give the incorporated thing a name, and named it Higgldy Piggldy because he thought that was funny. So this was post-agent and when he didn't have to have posters anymore, but he still chose to have one (a simple one, but still), in the theatre section, because he was trying to tell theatre audiences about himself.
This was a big theatre show, he toured it in several countries and for several years, but it started in 2008. It had props and lights and things like that.
The Honourable Men of Art
He brought this back in 2008, being done with Late 'n' Live for good (though after 2008 there was no more Honourable Men of Art either, I guess he just got some sleep or something).
2009
We Are Gathered Here
I'm not sure when he first started previewing We Are Gathered Here, so I don't know if he really didn't know about it when he wrote this blurb, or if he kept the blurb vague to leave open the option of writing a different show (like I assume he did with It's the Fireworks Talking). But he did end up doing We Are Gathered Here in Edinburgh.
I think this show is a bit underrated, in that it's not one I often think of when I consider his best shows, but when I listen to it I remember how absolutely fucking hilarious it is. It was an absolutely fucking hilarious stand-up show about the death of his aunt (I'm not being sarcastic or anything, it really is funny), and grief in general, around the era when "dead dad shows" were getting popular and just before the era when making fun of dead dad shows was getting popular. It's on Bandcamp.
The Interminable Suicide of Gregory Church
No poster for this theatre show, and going forward, there are no more posters for stand-up or theatre. I guess by 2009, he'd decided the theatre people know who he is and he doesn't need to advertise himself to them anymore either. This is a story show that I really love, about discovering a mystery in his house. It's on Vimeo. It's another big one; he started it in 2009 but then toured it in the UK, the US, and Australia in 2011.
Oh, and in 2009 he also brought back his Regent's Park night with Gavin Osborn, but instead of doing a half stand-up/half story show thing in one night, he did Stories for the Starlit Sky, which is three parts, and each part involves stories by Kitson and songs by Osborn. He performed it across three separate nights in its initial form in 2009, before bringing it back in later years as something to be performed all in one very long night.
2010
It's Always Right Now, Until It's Later
Another theatre show that he filmed and put on Vimeo, and toured across several years - he started it in 2010, then did runs in the UK and the US in 2011 and 2012. This was the only thing he did in Edinburgh in 2010 - this marked his initial period of pulling back from stand-up to focus on theatre.
2011
Continuation of his "pulling back from comedy" era. He toured Gregory Church and It's Always Right Now Until It's Later, but didn't do any new shows, and didn't perform his own stuff in Edinburgh at all. He definitely went to Edinburgh, though, as he appeared in the reunion gig of Political Animal, that John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman did to celebrate John returning to Edinburgh for the first time since he'd moved to the US in 2006. At their Political Animal reunion gigs, they did their famous God sketch, where Daniel Kitson reprised a role he'd played in that sketch when they'd performed it in their early years, as the voice of God. So he was in Edinburgh, showing up on Political Animal, and I don't know if he was on other things, but he didn't do a show of his own.
2012
This year he made his triumphant return to a few things he'd left behind in the previous decade, such as stand-up and compering late-night shows with the Chocolate Milk Gang and Regent's Park with Gavin Osborn. His big new show was:
Where Once Was Wonder
This is my favourite stand-up show in the entire world, it's incredibly funny and incredibly well written and incredibly complex and introspective and fucking brilliant. It also ran at around two hours, mainly because it packed in several years worth of material, that he'd been saving up from mess-around WIP stand-up things that he'd been doing since 2009 but didn't put any of it into a new full show until 2012.
Also in Edinburgh that year, he did:
As of 152 GMT on Friday 27 April 2012, This Show Has No Title
Advertised in the theatre section, as you can see from the red colour. This was his first really self-referential show, a story about his own writing process and a look at his own career. It started out with him erasing the words "It's Always Right Now Until it's Later" off a blackboard, suggesting he was trying to move on from those years he spent on those same sentimental theatre shows. This was the first of several shows he would do that were about how he doesn't do that stuff anymore.
I have no screenshot because it didn't appear in the Edinburgh program, but in Edinburgh in 2012, he also did a show called ZOCK!, which stands for [Andy] Zaltzman, [John] Oliver, [Alun] Cochrane, and [Daniel] Kitson. John Oliver had again traversed the ocean for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, so Daniel Kitson had a Chocolate Milk Gang reunion in which they all did things together like they had (well, like all of them but Oliver had) at Honourable Men of Art.
Also in 2012, but not in Edinburgh, Daniel Kitson compered a show called Fuckstorm3000, featuring Andy Zaltzman, Alun Cochrane, and Gavin Osborn. Same idea as the others - a Chocolate Milk Gang reunion, this time at The Hob in London. I find that title interesting - he called their original show Honourable Men of Art as a way to rebel against the bearpit of Late 'n' Live, to say they're going to be sober nerds who like art and he'll shake off his reputation for calling people cunts at raucous gigs. Then he spent several years pushing his sensitive theatre pieces hard and recreating his reputation as one that is honourable and artsy, and then he got sick of being known for that, so he wrote a show about not wanting to keep doing sad stories all the time (This Show Has No Title), and he named his Chocolate Milk Gang gig Fuckstorm, to rebel against his sensitive image and let everyone know that he's still a guy who will fucking swear.
He also did another Regent's Park night with Gavin Osborn, this time doing Where Once Was Wonder for the stand-up half, and a story called Lucinda Ding and the Monstrous Thing for the other half.
2013
He didn't do any new shows in Edinburgh, and I don't know for sure that he even attended the festival, though he may have in a similar capacity to 2011. He did, however, spend the year previewing and then performing After the Beginning, Before the End, which is officially stand-up but it's also kind of theatrical (it has background music and he performed it sitting down), and it's on Bandcamp. He toured it around the UK and the US and Europe, but not Edinburgh.
He also wrote two new theatre shows: Tree (his play with Tim Key, which was streamed earlier this year but the video isn't available online at the moment), which was performed in Manchester, but not in Edinburgh. And Analog.Ue, a very ambitious theatre thing that is available as a video for free on his website. That was all done through various machines, a sign that Kitson had well and truly passed beyond his "sad stories about an old man in a room full of mixed tapes" era, and entered his "complex, hard-to-understand experimental theatre about an old man" era. He performed Analog.Ue in New York, but again, not in Edinburgh.
2014
Again, no screenshots because he didn't appear in the Edinburgh program that year. However, he did write A Show for Christmas (which he decided this year to sell as an audio recording, and he's currently offering it for pre-order on Bandcamp), featuring Isy Suttie, and he performed that in some places that were not Edinburgh. He also did a US tour with Eugene Mirman called Pretty Good Friends.
And he did go to Edinburgh, where he performed A Variety of Things in a Room, with Gavin Osborn. This show had a bit of everything: stand-up from Kitson, songs from Osborn (plus even a few scripted spoken things from Osborn), recorded bits of Isy Suttie's voice, and a fictional story running through it. It was a really, really lovely thing that only got performed on eight nights (plus a couple of previews), starting at midnight, not advertised in the program, at The Stand Comedy Club in Edinburgh 2014.
Also in Edinburgh that year, and also not in the program, he did Fuckstorm3001 (same idea as Fuckstorm 3000), with Andy Zaltzman and Alun Cochrane. So Daniel Kitson's Edinburgh 2014 just involved doing little Chocolate Milk Gang reunions - nice twinkly stories and songs with Gavin Osborn, and Fuckstorm with the other two CMG members who were still around by then.
2015
He's finally back in the Edinburgh program, with:
Polyphony
This was another experimental theatre thing (in the theatre section, note the red colour), performed with speakers scattered throughout the audience on which he'd recorded the voices of his friends. Another retrospective on his career, and how he was running out of ideas (like the one in 2012 about how he was running out of ideas, immediately after which he had quite a few new ideas). Also ruminations on art and performer/audience relationships and things like that. Very meta, looking at his own career but also larger issues.
Besides that, he spent 2015 reprising his shows Tree, A Show for Christmas, and Stories for the Starlit Sky.
2016
Mouse
A three-character play, with one character played by Daniel Kitson on stage, one by Daniel Kitson's recorded voice, and one by Isy Suttie's recorded voice. Performed in Edinburgh, as well as elsewhere in the UK and in the US.
Daniel Kitson Presents an Insufficient Number of Undeveloped Ideas Over Ninety Testing Minutes
This was mostly improvised stand-up. He'd done a bunch of WIP shows earlier in the year, mainly at the Battersea Arts Centre in London and Das Kino in Nottingham, and he'd tried to put enough together to have a full stand-up show. But it didn't really happen, so he just did more WIP-type stuff in Edinburgh. He did the few bits he'd written and made more shit up and messed around with the crowd. It was very funny.
2017
He didn't do any of his own shows in Edinburgh. He did write and perform Something Other Than Everything (this used some material from his WIPs in 2016), which he toured around the UK, but not Edinburgh. He also did another run of Stories for the Starlit Sky. And he wrote a new story show called A Short Series of Disagreements Presented Here in Chronological Order, for which he did WIPs in London and then a run in the US.
2018
He wrote a new stand-up show called Good For Glue, did WIPs across England before doing a run of it in Edinburgh. However, this run is not mentioned in the program. He had, apparently, gone from not using posters for stand-up, to not using posters for theatre stuff, to not even putting a blurb about his stand-up in the program.
2019
He wrote a couple of new theatre shows: Keep and Shenanigan, which he toured in other places but didn't perform in Edinburgh. In Edinburgh, he did a run called Everything Smells of Orange, which was a bit like his 2016 thing in that it was largely improvised, using material he'd come up with at WIPs but hadn't managed to work into a full structured show before Edinburgh, so he just made Edinburgh more WIP time. It was, again, not in the program. It was, again, fucking hilarious.
He also brought back his Regent's Park thing with Gavin Osborn, doing a night called Outside. Again., in which Kitson did stand-up and Osborn played songs.
2020
He wrote a show about his pandemic year called Dot. Dot. Dot., and livestreamed it from empty venues. Obviously he didn't go to Edinburgh. If he had, he'd have been the only one there (except the people who live in Edinburgh, I guess).
He did, however, do the radio show Trifle on Resonance FM, which broadcast Monday to Thursday in August 2020, and came together with a mystery and a story. That story was partly set in Edinburgh, and included recorded voices of his various comedian friends (plus spoken words and some songs by honourary comedian Gavin Osborn), in a way that sort of acted as a makeshift, remote, substitute for an Edinburgh show.
2021
He re-structred his show Shenanigan, called it Shenaniganagain, and did some livestreams of it. Didn't go to Edinburgh.
2022
He wrote a stand-up show called Outside, about his experience of the pandemic. He performed it only in outdoor theatres, sometimes with Gavin Osborn playing songs to open for him. He didn't go to Edinburgh.
He also wrote a new story show called Maybe a Ghost Story, but only performed it on two nights at the Globe Theatre in London, around Halloween.
2023
He's back in the Edinburgh program!
First Thing
It's a theatre thing, but it's very funny. It's a play performed by Daniel Kitson and his audience. It's extremely meta and self-referential. It's his third career retrospective/explanation that he's out of ideas (note that his first was in 2012, and he's arguably had one or two ideas since then). It was previewed briefly in London, then performed in Edinburgh, then just this month he brought it back in Bristol under the name Collaborator.
This show also talks about how he's losing his audience these days and never gets new fans ("Everyone who sees me has already seen me") - I don't see how that could have happened, after all those years of deliberately not putting his shows in a major festival program. But his sudden epiphany about the pitfalls of that may be why he's back in the program now.
He also did a few more performances of Maybe a Ghost Story around Halloween, and will do more performances of A Show For Christmas in December.
