For any nonhumans struggling with species dysphoria, I want to help you all as much as I can. I've been experiencing it all week. It can be quite exhausting and put you in a lot of distress, in my case. X(
Here are some tips I'd recommend to help:
1. Mimic the diet of your kintype/theriotype. You are a shark? Eat seafood. A dragon? Maybe try to burn some food a little (or turn it black like my own preference if you want). You kin a character from [Insert source]? Try recreating foods/dishes from their world or dimension.
2. Listen to relatable music. I'd recommend making a playlist of any songs that feel species affirming/euphoric, or even echo that dysphoria further, therefore turning it relatable. (Few of my favorites are Bones by Imagine Dragons, Control by Halsey, Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land by MARINA, Momento Mori by Fish in a Birdcage, among other songs that feel therian coded to me).
3. Do vocals. Howling, barking, screeching, or roaring are very relieving if you are in the correct space to do them! If you are in a quite space or do not want to out yourself to anyone, try purring, growling, hissing, or other unnoticeable sounds. You have an object kintype? Mimic the sounds of the object, like beeping, clicking, etc. (I personally make microwave sounds just because it is fun). Recite voice lines of your kintype from the source they are in. Mimic their voice and volume to match.
4. Move and physically act like your kintype/theriotype. Quadrobics, mimic the flapping of wings, walk bidepedally, whatever you do, turn your mannerisms and motion to reflect your kintype/theriotype.
5. Dress like your kintype/theriotype. Is your kintype a character? Cosplay them, or mimic their clothing style, clothing color, hairstyle, etc. If they have tattoos, scars, or patterns on their body, copy them on your physical form with paint or pens. (PLEASE USE NON TOXIC MATERIALS. STUFF SAFE FOR YOUR HUMAN SKIN.) Are you a species of animal(s)? Dress in your species' colors, or, once again, paint or color yourself like it/them. Are you perhaps any other form of creature or object? You can use the same tips as the others, and another idea that works for all is that you can buy costume pieces of your kintype/theriotype. Masks, headbands, just normal clothing in general, the options really are infinite.
6. Express your dysphoria through artwork. I love doing art when I am heavily species dysphoric. Drawing, crafting masks, origami, painting, collages, all are forms of art. If you are skilled in music, then you could even create some songs of your own!
7. Go out and explore nature. This one is mainly targeted towards therians, whose types are grounded on the life on earth rather than other dimensions or universes, but just like the other methods, it can be universally used by any types of nonhumans. Collecting things is my favorite way of exploring nature. Collect rocks, shells, sticks, leaves, bugs, plants, anything that makes you feel more comfortable in your own (unfortunate) physical body. Stay grounded in the world around you and you may find the dysphoria slips away. Hiking and going on short walks can also help, building a den, smelling the scents of the outdoors. All great ideas that I personally recommend.
8. Write about your feelings. Whether you are good at expressing yourself through poetry, you keep a diary/journal, or you can project onto OCs for new backstory lore like I do, writing can truly help with any dysphoria. Not only that, but it is sometimes refreshing to come back later and read about what you were feeling before. It can serve as a great reminder that you are a powerful being and you will always overcome the feelings if you try.
9. Research about your kintype/theriotype. It does not matter if you are an animal, concept, or object from earth, a being from fantasy, or a character from the greatest book or show, you learn something new every day. So why not learn about yourself? Read books or watch animal documentaries of your theriotype(s), same thing for you otherkins and your fantasy species. Fictionkins can look up facts about themself as a character, their book, show, game, etc.
10. Talk and interact with other alterhumans/nonhumans. Remember, we are a community, and while you are experiencing horrible episodes of species dysphoria, there are many other beings going through the exact same thing at the exact same time. So why not talk to them about it? Share your experiences, help eachother cope, you may even connect with more individuals that way, building more relationships with others and meeting new beings.
11. Past life meditation. If you are a nonhuman who has a past life/lives, you may find comfort in meditation, where you can truly tap into what you once were, and still are in this life as well. Look to the forgotten, and turn in to remembered. Open up your past and live over again.
12. Listen to sounds. Nature sounds, voices of other characters you know from your world, vocals or sound effects of your kintype. These are all good options to turn to if you want to feel at ease with yourself.
13. Let your emotions out. Sometimes this is all you really need to do when species dysphoria hits hard. Cry, bite things, claw at pillows, LET IT OUT. There is absolutely no problem in being yourself and expressing your heavy emotions in your own, unique, nonhuman way. You may find you feel much better after.
That's all I've got, but I hope whoever/whatever reads this far has an amazing day/night. You are an amazing being, thank you for embracing yourself and living authentically. <3

🩸⸝⸝ Vampirekin tips ! ⊹﹒IT'S HEREEE!!
✦ Create a vampire themed Pinterest board!
✦ Make a vampiric playlist on whatever music platform u use, I personally enjoy listening to rock & metal!! ✦ Gear such as fake fangs, fake blood, & biting stim toys r really great to have! ✦ Keep a journal specifically 4 ur vampire kintype! Write some affirmations, dream gear, ur shifts (if u have shifts), etc!! ✦ Watch some vampire movies & read some vampire books! My favorite vampire movie is The Lost Boys!! ✦ Like myself, not all vamps r fans of the sunlight. I recommend staying in the shade, wearing sunscreen, or bringing an umbrella outside! ✦ Try to pull all nighters/be more active at night. However, be careful with this & if u cant stay up that is completely fine. ✦ Safely take walks during the night time, it can be very refreshing! ✦ Find community, find other vamps!! It's good to have others who understand. ✦ Dressing in dark alternative clothing always seems to set the mood 4 me! ✦ Decorate ur living space in halloween decorations! Make ur room feel more at home by making it vampy looking. Keeping ur room dark/dimmed is also very nice!! ✦ Drink red drinks, cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, energy drinks, etc! ✦ Eating meaty foods always gets my fangs to show but if u are vegetarian/vegan that's okay! I recommend eating fruits such as strawberries, plums, & peaches cuz it almost feels like biting into flesh!!
This might not be 4 every1 but I hope this may have somewhat helped! I will prob add onto this later!!

10 Monster & Mythological Kintypes You Might Not Have Kinsidered!
Quick intro! I want to do some more monsterkin related original blog posts & content to make this blog more of a community hub for the monsterkins of tumblr. I'll be using #thebitingblogger for these posts! TW for some very mild mentions of gore in the context of mythology.
10. Haunted Dolls: There is definitely a large dollkin community on Tumblr but I haven't seen many haunted dolls/plushies. They're such a staple of horror media & spiritual subcultures - I'm so surprised by their absence!
9. Werecats & Other Werebeasts: The werewolfkin community on here is already limited but the werecat tag is tiny (and I don't think there even are tags for any other werekintypes)! Maybe the concept just hasn't been explored enough yet but given the popularity of other feline kintypes I wouldn't be surprised if there were some undiscovered werecats. I'd also like to add on about hellhounds & hellcats! Plenty of mythology there but a rather empty part of the kin community.
8. Revenants: Revenants are reanimated corpses revived to haunt the living. They're most prominent in Western European & Norse folklore. I can see some similarities to ghost & zombie kins but given we already have other subtypes & related kins (phantomkin etc) there is definitely a place for them in the kin community. Honestly as I'm writing this I'm starting to kinsider whether my skeletonkin might be a revenant...
7. Headless Horsemen: I suppose this is technically a human but I'd consider them a potential type of undead or spirit! The headless horseman is a recurring myth in a lot of Western Europe & America. My favourite version is the Dullahan from Irish folklore. The Dullahan is a mysterious omen, causing death whenever he stops riding. He carries his head in his arms and wields a whip made of human spine. The most famous media depiction is probably Disney's "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad." I think you can tell I'm a little bit in love with the horseman mythos...
6. Minotaurs, Centaurs & Fauns: I'm not sure I'd consider these monsters but they fit with the themes of the rest of the list! A minotaur is a man with the upper half/head of a bull, a centaur is a man with the body of a horse and a faun is a man with the legs of a goat or deer, often accompanied by horns or antlers. Man is being used without gender here. I originally was only going to write about Minotaurs as I've seen plenty of centaur & faun kins but there's no harm in including everyone! I'm not going to type out the entire mythology of these creatures but a fun fact for you is that the Minotaur of Crete's real name was Asterion!
5. Selkies: Again, not sure if these would be monsters but they fit the list & some retellings portray them as such! Selkies are humans (by appearance, not species) that can take the form of seals using their fur coats. If their coat is stolen, they can be forced to marry the person who has it.
4. Gorgons: Just talking about these as a species rather than their specific Greek mythos. Gorgons are humans with hair made of snakes. Often different interpretations give them patches/designs of scales, snakelike markings and/or fangs. My favourite modern depiction of a gorgon is Viperine from Monster High!
3. The Grim Reaper: I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been kinsidering this for a while! There are hundreds of personifications of Death throughout the history of humanity but the Reaper is probably one of the most recognisable in modern times. The Grim Reaper is most frequently depicted as a skeleton in a cloak, suit of armour or robes, bearing a farmer's scythe (it harvests souls like crops). I've been talking about media interpretations of these throughout so shoutout to Discworld Death, one of my favourite comfort characters! I love the animated version of Soul Music.
2. Shade: Finding information on this one was a little challenging! Shades are the spirits, ghosts or apparitions of someone currently residing in the underworld.
1. Custom Monsters: Got a bunch of phantom limbs that don't match a different kin? Have memories of being/feel like a cryptid that doesn't currently exist as a legend? Be your own monsterkin. Be a kin of your own species. I have one! I just need to actually draw them...
That's all folks! 10 more niche monster & mythological kintypes for you to kinsider! Please send me an ask (anon is enabled) or reblog or whatever if you're any of those kintypes, I'd love to hear from you! As always, please do your own research on these species & their folklore, I've only done some brief googling to add some more context to this list. This blog is for entertainment purposes, not educational! Let me know if you guys like seeing this sort of content though, I've really enjoyed researching this so I might start doing some more in-depth and well-researched posts on some of these.

∘₊✧──────✧₊∘∘₊✧──────✧₊∘∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
[This is my first time coining a flag, I'm sorry if I'm not formatting this properly. I'm also not using my usual coloured typing/font for this post so that it's easier to read.]

Cybertroniankin/Transformerkin Flags And Symbol
I noticed that Cybertoniankins don't have a flag nor symbol so I decided to make them myself. Unfortunately I'm indecisive so there are multiple versions. The colours were picked with meaning in mind, I tried to choose features/experiences that all Cybertonians could relate to. I did include some references to the war in the symbolism since that is the main story that our source/cannon revolves around.
The symbol is a representation of a spark/spark chamber. Depending on the continuity spark chambers will look different but most of the time the sparks themselves are just pure light so i took some artistic freedom with this. I decided to take visual inspiration from the matrix of leadership, specifically the part that fits over/around the spark.
First version -
1 - Deep blueish purple for Interstellar travel/Space. Representing Cybertonians that live on other planets, were born on other planets, travel through space frequently/as a lifestyle, were displaced/had to escape during the war, or for some other reason aren't on Cybertron.
2 - Vibrant blue for Energon. Representing the energon that is our lifeblood, as well as the energon spilled in the war between Decepticons and Autobots.
3 - Pastel rainbow gradient for Transformation. Representing our defining trait to transform. It's what gave us the name "transformers" after all. It might be second nature to some, while others will struggle with it and how it impacts their identity. But at the end of the day our T-cogs and other systems evolved to let us change form and we should be proud in that ability.
4 - Pale ice blue for The Allspark. Representing the fact that regardless of how we look or who we are, we all originate from within the Allspark, without it new Cybertonians can't be born. The Allspark is also seen as a form of afterlife, which could tie into spiritual Cybertoniankin identities.
5 - Grey for Metal. Representing the physical aspect of being a mechanical lifeform. A lot of us - myself included - experience species dysphoria. Whether your kintype is psychological, spiritual or anything in between, the feeling of being made of metal is carried with us via phantom and sensory shifts.
✦
Second and third version -
I made these since I thought the rainbow gradient on the first one could be a bit too much. These flags also put the All Spark stripe at the centre giving it a bit more focus. The colour meanings remain the same except for the yellow stripe.
4/5 - Golden yellow for Transformation/T-cog. Almost identical meaning as the gradient stripe on the first version but with more emphasis on the T-cog itself. The colour comes from the fact that although the way the T-cogs look depends on continuity, most of them seem to have some golden/yellow/orange elements or glow.
✦
Here is the symbol by itself:
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘∘₊✧──────✧₊∘∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
The symbol and all of these flags were made by me [alterspark]! They are free to use!

here's my proposal for ...
... a new otherkin flag !! <3
[ flag meaning & explanation + desaturated vers. + id under the cut ! ]
ㅤ ★ flag explanation & meaning ㅤ
i've been aware of the fact that i was otherkin for two and a half years now , and each time i have gone to put my identity in the bio of social media websites or express myself there was not an existing , general flag for the otherkin community . i saw one for those who identify as kingender (or therians and alterhumans) specifically , but never an otherkin specific flag ! sooo .. ㅤ
the specific yellows, oranges, pinks, purples, and blues were selected as many peoples otherkin identity revolves around past lives and self discovery - and so , they represent a sunset of sorts , what me and some friends figured would be the perfect embodiment of new beginnings and the deepest sense of self! ㅤ
the variety of colors in the sunset theme also represents the diversity of otherkin , and how everyone's perception of their kintypes & identity varies depending on how they perceive things! ㅤ
the different colors can also be perceived as a representation of the different reasons one might identify as otherkin - from psychologically to spiritually , everyone has their own shade of reasoning as to why they resonate with the term. ㅤ
the star in the middle is the classic otherkin symbol, hence its emphasis and blending with the flag - here , it is meant to represent the long lasting community and everything it stands for! ㅤ
it can be reused or reinterpreted in any sort of media , without any need of credit towards me ! i do love being tagged in posts , but there's no need necessary <3 i just find comfort in knowing there's finally a flag that can unify us together ! ㅤ
(note: updated 03/03/2024 to make things a little more easy to read!)
★ a bit more desaturated version of the flag :
★ image ids ㅤ ( listed from top left, top right, bottom left, & bottom right. also attached as an alternate id to each image! ) ㅤ
1.) [Image ID: A rectangular flag with seven stripes. The flag is horizontally symmetrical. The stripes are in these colors, as follows: yellow, orange, salmon pink, hot pink, magenta, purple, & a deep blue. The symbol in the middle is the seven-pointed Otherkin star, with the gradient on the inside following the yellow-orange-salmon pink pattern, and the outer stroke following the magenta-purple-deep blue pattern. There is a dark purple shade behind the star. /End ID] ㅤ
2.) [Image ID: A rectangular flag with five stripes. The flag is horizontally symmetrical. The stripes are in these colors, as follows: yellow, salmon pink, hot pink, purple & deep blue. The symbol in the middle is the seven-pointed Otherkin star, with the gradient on the inside following the yellow-orange-salmon pink pattern, and the outer stroke following the magenta-purple-deep blue pattern. There is a dark purple shade behind the star. /End ID] ㅤ
3.) [Image ID: A rectangular flag with seven stripes. The flag is horizontally symmetrical. The stripes are in these colors, as follows: yellow, orange, salmon pink, hot pink, magenta, purple, & a deep blue. /End ID] ㅤ

I think when it comes to building a world that has multiple races/ancestries/kintypes/whatever you want to call them, there are two extremes
The first (I'll call it the Tolkien approach) is to have each of the races fill a specific role. Elves live in the forest and are old and wise. Hobbits live in the shire and are chill. Dwarves live in the mountains and mine etc.
There can be multiple cultures among a single race (typically the humans) but there are no cultures that have any significant diversity. There can be individuals that live among a culture that is not of their race (e.g Bilgo, Arwen) but they are outliers.
It's very easy to be racist with this approach, but it's not inherently racist. In my (white) opinion, if you want to do this (or lean towards it) make sure that the individual types represent concepts and not real world cultures. The orcs as a representation of industrialisation are great, the fact that they're typically depicted with darker skin than anyone else less so
The other (I'll call it the ICON approach) is to just have a bunch of kintypes primarily for the purpose of allowing for more interesting character designs.
There can still be biological differences, but ultimately your culture is what is important. To directly quote the ICON rulebook: " Culture is far more important than Kintype. A Trogg and a Xixo from the same village are far more alike than two Troggs from different part of the world."
Cultures are also diverse. There is no culture that is just one type of Kin, and there is no Kin that has just one culture.
Obviously, as with most thigns in life, lots of things don't fit either of these extremes.
On a scale of 1-5 with 1 being the Tolkien approach and 5 being the ICON approach, I think the Forgotten Realms would be a 3. There are some strong associations with specific cultures to specific species but you can find anything anywhere, especially in the larger cities like Waterdeep or Baldur's Gate.
My setting of Draxnor would be a 4. Associatins between cultures and ancestries are typically weak and mostly only the result of the different ancestries originating in different parts of the world. There is one notable exception, the almost entirely dark elven Drow Queendom, but even they have notable amounts of dwarves, tieflings, and gnomes among them and there are enough dark elves in other nations that most wouldn't assume any dark elf to be part of the Drow Queendom.

All of my alterhuman kinstypes cus I'm bored :P
I will be talking. a lot. this is your warning that I will be talking.
Black wolf!!
This is by far the easiest one I have to understand (for me atleast) so it's going first. Often get more shifts about it during the winter because all the snow and stuff reminds me of the tundra!! I had a pack of like 3-4 other wolves and we lived along the border between a forest and like a planes in the tundra or something like a tundra.
Me fr!!
Black cat (fictionkin?????)
this is where things get complicated as always...I put fictionkin w/ a bunch of question marks because I'm a black cat specifically from the book series Warrior cats but I'm not like a specific character from the book, I'm my own cat but like not an oc so????? idk I'm just going w/ fictionkin for now cus it makes the most sense to me lol. anyway I spent most of my time in Riverclan but I spent a lot of time in the hay/wheat fields at the barn had hunting mice. My name was Mountainsong (clan name) or Night-bird (rogue name). I was like 20 moons? I was definitely a young warrior but idk exactly how old. I have a lot of memories attached to this kintypes like having to run across the Thunderpath or sneaking out of camp to go hunt mice at the barn. I still sometimes try to flick my tail as communication forgetting I don't have one anymore :/. Anyway if you have any idea if fictionkin is the right term or if there's some other one lmk (note: I also might have a theriotype of a cat that's different than this?? idek anymore just know that I'm a cat lol)
me in RC territory if you even care
Angelkin? Dietykin? Something along those lines
and even more complicated we go. idk a good label for this one either but I feel like those two are pretty good descriptors. I'm not divine anymore but I once was. I'm not a christian angel or even an angel from any particular religion. All I know is that I came from the stars with the purpose to bring light and joy to humanity and to also observe it (I've made many observations!!) This sounds kinda silly but my form was best described as the Angelic Warden from Creatures of Sonaria but not exactly. I stood on two legs that came down to a fine point, and had two massive wings on my back that were very heavy with two more little wings inside of those ones, a long with two on either side of my head. (man I miss those wings). I think I may have been on Earth while still divine? I know for a fact I was watching from above the clouds once but idk not gonna get into that yet lol.
Where I came from. also the best representation of my "non-physical" form.
THE MOON (conceptkin)
Kinda goes with the whole originating from the stars and space but uhm. anyway I AM the concept the like the aura around the moon. The deep night only illuminated by the full moon. that illumination creating a mysterious and beautiful light casting down the the ground through the leaves of trees? ME!!!! The haunting light a bright orange harvest moon immits?? ME!!!!! The weird pseudo-darkness the moon makes during a solar eclipse? MEEE!!! The moon shining brightly through the clouds giving light to the animal below and beauty for human to admire? MEM MEMEMEM!!!!!
MEEEEE!!!! ME ME ME!!!!
ANYWAY thanks for reading!!!! if you have any kintypes you wanna share PLEASE do I LOVE hearing about them /gen!!!!

KINTYPE LIST!
over the past year, ive experimented with multiple labels and identities. this is to update yall on the creatures i feel connected to and identify as/with!
1. Red Fox
this is my strongest type, and is my main hearttype. i experience phantom limbs, specifically a tail, ears, fangs, muzzle, and being the size of a fox. i also experience the most species dysphoria in regards to my red fox kintype. this has been my longest-lasting identity as well! i own quite a bit of gear for this type, including a tail and multiple self-made masks. for me, red foxes teeter on the line between identifying *with* and identifying *as* one. so far, though, i do consider myself foxhearted! i experience longing for forests and fields, and a burrowed den. i also enjoy collecting and hoarding small items and food, similar to a fox. i specifically know that i have red fur, black paws and ear tips, and a white tail tip with green eyes.
2. Grey Fox
this is much more recent! a few days ago, i did a moodboard for someone regarding a grey fox, and i felt an instant connection. this is definitely a hearttype for me. something about looking at images of these critters makes me feel like im looking at family. grey foxes are most active at dusk and dawn, which i identify with strongly. grey foxes are unique in their ability for climbing trees, which i identify so strongly with! i love climbing up and just perching in a tree, watching people below me. it makes me feel safe and at-home. looking at this image feels like looking in a mirror, honestly. i believe that grey foxes are a strong hearttype for me, and may also dip into kintype territory!
3. Ocelot
again, this is very recent. i made a moodboard i believe just yesterday with these critters and something just clicked. i have experienced multiple feline shifts/behaviors, but i thought they were just cameo shifts. now i know that this is me!! ocelots are nocturnal, extremely territorial, and spend time in dense brush or trees-- all things that i identify with. ocelots mainly live in coastal marshes, mangrove forests, and tropical forests. i feel SO connected to this critter, it's absurd. this is definitely a kintype for me.
4. North American River Otter
our first linktype! i identify voluntarily as a river otter. ive always thought they were really cool and i feel a strong connection to creeks and rivers. i also exhibit multiple otter behaviors, some intentionally and some unintentionally. swimming is also quite euphoric for me! i don't feel entirely aquatic though, and i know i have paws and fur while in the water. this was my first linktype i chose! to me, this is a funlink.
5. Wild Rabbit
this is mostly behavior-based. i experience intense prey instincts, remain alert when outdoors, feel the need to burrow and make a safe place for myself, prefer to be solitary, make nests, and dig! i have quite a few rabbits in my neighborhood, and i feel a strong relation to them. im not quite sure what label fits my experience-- it's not intentional, but doesn't feel involuntary either. more like learned behaviors. i don't feel that i am a rabbit, but i am very much so like a rabbit. i dont identify with rabbits, but i do act and feel like one. it's strange! but burrowing and nesting makes me feel so euphoric :33 i believe this may be a form of copinglink, alongside a deeper involuntary identity.
6. Wolf
this is a copinglink/involuntary identity. again, it's behavior-based. this type feels the strongest whenever i am alone or with another person i care about, especially when in dangerous situations or areas. this is a very general wolf/canine type, as it's not specific to one kind or breed of canine. grey wolf seems to be the strongest, but i also feel shifts and identify as/with black wolves, coastal wolves, dobermans, german shepherds, and other canines! i believe this does partially stem from trauma, as i feel like a feral dog let free from confinement. however, i still identify on some integral level as a wolf, or as someone who was raised by/should have been one.
thats all for now! ill come back and edit this post whenever i see fit to add/remove information and kintypes ^^

Hello! I have some questions for you, if you don't mind.
What does transspecies mean to you?
How did you discover you were transspecies?
How do you feel about the myth that transspecies makes fun of transgender people?
How do you feel about the idea that transspecies should not be used or people who are transspecies should stay hidden because it can be used against the transgender community
(A controversial one) Why did rad-q takeover the transspecies term, how does that effect the alterhuman community, and how do you feel about it?
Hi thank you sm for asking hehe :3 I love getting to talk about this stuff (and knowing that others are interested in hearing about it lol)
Long ass post below the cut
1. To me, transspecies is the rawest, most direct way for me to express my nonhumanity. It cuts through a lot of the vagueness and nuance of some other nonhuman labels (not that there's anything wrong with that ofc) and gets straight to the point: Im not entirely human and want to be acknowledged as such by my peers and society at large. It emphasizes my desire to move through life as nonhuman, and that there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I also like that it challenges the narrative of human superiority and the idea that species identity is purely biology based. For me personally, it also ties into my experience with being transgender, as I often see my gender as being partially nonhuman. Many things that are gender affirming are also species affirming and vice versa. But obviously you don't have to be transgender to be transspecies, one of my irl packmates and close friend is cisgender transspecies and she's awesome <3
2. It wasn't so much a "discovery" for me. My transspecies identity is very closely tied to my therianthropy, the species I identify as and see myself transitioning into are also all kintypes. So after I realized I was a therianthrope, it was kind of just a slow realization that it was also a label that fit my experiences well. Like most alterhumans I had heard the word used as a weapon against transgender people and alterhumans, so I had a very negative perception of it for a long time. I think the first time I ever heard it referred to in a not-outright-negative sense was in PDTherians "Trans-species?!" youtube video (which I do not recommend as a source of education at all it's a very flawed video that's riddled with misinformation) a few years back, and from there I slowly started to open up to the idea and yeah. The rest is history pretty much lol
3. To some degree I actually can empathize with the stance because I used to be in the same camp, and I know from experience that for a lot of folks it's just well intentioned but misplaced passion of trans liberation. But at the same time it's still a harmful belief and one I grew out of because I matured and learned more about the communities I was part of. Anytime you cast judgement onto a group of people with a harmless identity/belief/interest for the sole purpose of "they're too weird", that harms everyone, not just that group. In this case, hatred against transspecies folks implies that there is a right and a wrong way to be queer/trans, which is harmful not only to nonhumans but to all queer individuals.
4. I think it's bullshit lmao. Shying away from it and outcasting the people who use it does absolutely nothing but divide us further and make us an easier target for discrimination. Categorizing it as a community taboo just turns it into ammunition for transphobes and anti-alterhumans alike. Turning against each other and fighting over stupid shit like labels is exactly what oppressors want, a house divided against itself cannot stand. It also just doesn't make sense, species identity is socially constructed, similar to gender, so why should people be forbidden from using a word to describe that experience just because it's misunderstood?
5. I honestly have no idea why radqueers do anything at all lmaoooo. But if I had to guess, I think it's because on some level, they know that nobody with any semblance of social education or moral compass is ever going to be on board with their beliefs, so instead of trying to fight a losing battle they just barge their way into other small, marginalized, and outcasted groups (alterhuman, altage, paraphiles, etc.) and try to claim them as "part of them". It's a lot easier to tell a group of people "Hey you guys are actually just like us so you need to support our ideology because otherwise you're just fighting against yourself" than it is to try to convince them from scratch that you're not a horrible person.
As for how it's impacted the alterhuman community, Im not entirely sure but luckily I think its effects have been fairly minimal thus far. The alterhuman community is significantly bigger and older than the rq community, I've only ever run into rqs on Tumblr and even here Ive met transspecies folks who had never heard of radqueers before. I think its biggest impacts have been on the transspecies niche specifically, since they often try to lump it in with transid's like "transrace" and "transharmful", which leads to the assumption from outsiders that they're inherently connected and that all transspecies folks agree with those stances as well. But I think as transspecies and alterhumanity as a whole slowly becomes less stigmatized and more widely understood over time, that belief will also fade and die off.
Sorry for the massive text wall lmao, I hope that wasn't too much info. But again thank you sm for asking ^^ I think it's super important that folks out there are interested in learning more about this stuff and that alterhumans are able to communicate their experiences to one another <3

Advice for younger alterhumans
(Focusing a lil more on therians)
(A bit of rambling )
Please repost
Pt.1 the biggest thing
So let’s start with the biggest thing and that is: some people just hate us.
Now that can be for a variety of reasons.
example: I know someone who hates alterhumans because she was stalked by one for months.
(More below the cut because this is a big post)
List of common reasons:
Some people hate us because those of us who have past lives go against their religion.
Some people just don’t like people who are different.
Some people think we are mentally ill.
Some people think we are zoos.
Some people think we are furries and because they hate furries they hate us.
Pt.2 keeping yourself safe
So this is extremely important if you are a minor Because most likely you live with a parent/guardian.
So how do you ensure you are safe?
Well it’s not that hard
1. Only tell people you trust. if you want to check if it’s safe to tell someone mention therians in conversations and see how they react.
2. Remember that there are community’s online that you can make friends on if you can’t tell anyone irl about your identity. (Therian guide.net is one)
3. If your parents/guardians are supportive you can find fellow therians on international therian day just draw the therian delta in your hand.
Pt.3 what if I don’t have shifts?
So lets make one thing clear not all therians have shifts a good chunk do but they are not what make you a therian/Otherkin.
Also it’s perfectly fine and quite common not to know you therotype/Kintype right away.
It’s also perfectly fine to be mistaken on your therotype/Kintype for example: I went through a period of thinking I was a crow therian
(I do think I have a winged thero/Kintype but that’s a story for another day)
So pretty much it’s ok to be mistaken infact most alterhumans are at first .
Pt.4 The pros and cons of packs
So I was actually a head mod on hiddenwhispers discord server until my aunt discovered I had discord. (as i am a minor I have tak obey her wishes)
So now I am gonna give a overview of my experiences with therian packs
So the first one I joined (foxx_kit on yts one)
There was lots of dark stuff in the heavy vent channel but Everyone was really nice and all in all it was a great experience.
The second one what I helped create
It was good a lot of dark stuff in the vents but still good.
Now for hiddenwhispers one.
So most people were nice and respected me as a mod but we got frequently raided by antis who sent gore and other stuff.
Lots of dark stuff in the vents.
Whisper was really nice and always treated me as a close friend.
So one thing you will notice is lots of them have vents that contain images of sh so that’s a downside.
On the otherhand I made many friends so at the end of the day it’s good unless you look in the vents.
End of post.
So I hope you have learned something from this post.
Remember to eat and drink
luv ya❤️❤️❤️

My advice for new Otherkin/Therians:
Give people some grace 🥺
Some people might not know what copinglink is and say "I chose to be a Therian so get over it! 😠" Are they right? No. But it's 100% better and more effective to give people the benefit of the doubt and talk to them than immediately hate them. This goes for a lot of things in life but I've seen it with new Otherkin
It's kind of giving.. Gatekeep 😬
Also you don't need to prove your otherness to anyone. Not even yourself. You don't need to only have one kintype or not have any common or weird kintypes. I went from only one uncommon kintype to 4 uncommon and common kintypes. And that's ok. I'm a one of a kind Daimonkin and a Red Fox Therian. And I don't owe anyone anything to prove either. Be yourself and try your best. That's basically the slogan of Otherkinness 🫶
(Btw yes it's the Daimonkin I'm back 😋 Since you've been calling me Daimonkin for the last few I just wanna say that my names Sugar 😁🍬)
Hi Sugar!! That's such a sweet lovely name! It's great to hear from you again.
I wholeheartedly agree! People need to learn to educate instead of exclude. Yes newbies can use the incorrect terms, but we've all been there. A heartfelt, genuine explanation will go so much further than immediately trying to push someone out of the community over a mistake.
Also soo real!! There's no chain of superiority between kintypes or identities. They're just that - an identity, nothing more & nothing less. I'd love "Be yourself and try your best" to be the community slogan.

so the urge to collect data overcame me so. boom. otherkin form. https://forms.gle/GgVuZo31MDm55M7N9
the form is used for seeing if “common” kintypes are actually common and if the otherkin community is primarily white (like ive seen people say before) because im genuinely curious.
disclaimer: no responses will be published, but the data of the quiz will be. i dont have a set date on when the form will close, but i will edit this post for when it does.
edit 1: PLEASE REBLOG THIS. REBLOGGING GIVES A BIGGER SAMPLE SIZE!!!!
edit 2: once the quiz reaches 200 responses (currently at 187) im going to close responses where i can count. when i post the data it will be under the cut because OH GOD its gonna be long as shit.
edit 3: going to count now. thank you for everyone who responded!!!
edit 4: okay so. i genuinely forgot i was ass at counting n shit so im going to post the results tomorrow. i counted some today but gfcbiufnvc 200 answers are overwhelming me a bit. also i might remake the quiz to be more specific (and with multiple choice like some people suggested) because some people asked for that (i will post the link to that quiz in a reblog)
edit 5: sorry i keep editing the post. but im going to say this again: im REALLY bad at math so if i get something wrong, please dont be mean about it when/if you correct me. and also, the next quiz (with multiple choice instead of put your own answer) is going to have a bigger sample size and go for at LEAST 3 days. since its going to be multiple choice, hopefully it won’t overwhelm me as much to sort the answers. thank you for being understanding
edit 6: heres the results: https://www.tumblr.com/p33p33p00p00/710384798612504576/so-the-urge-to-collect-data-overcame-me-so-boom?source=share

An important message about validity and gatekeeping in the therian, otherkin, nonhuman, and alterhuman (etc.) communities.
Read if you're feeling invalid, because I promise you that you are valid.
As a placekin, I have a very complicated relationship with some places.
When I first discovered I was placekin, I thought I was 4-5 different places, those being: Kongo (DRC), C.A.R., Tristan da Cunha, Riyadh, and Mauritania.
I ruled out Mauritania as a kin pretty quickly, but the others (besides the CAR) were slow to go. They didn't feel the same as my connection to/identity as the C.A.R. did.
I couldn't confidently say "I am [place name]" and call it a kin. All these strict definitions of what kin means and gatekeepers discouraged me from doing so, anyways.
So, I dropped the label of "placekin" for all these places except for the C.A.R. and tossed them into the "otherhearted" category, as I've been taught to do. Taught that if there's one aspect of your identity that doesn't fit someone else's definition, you're supposed to put it into being otherhearted, otherlink, a furry, cosplayer, or just throw it out entirely.
I felt that my experiences were invalid in the realm of kin because of how others tried to define me. Because their own views must be the same as mine, they have to. My identity is their identity, right?
There were so many restrictions on what counted as kin or not across the majority of the nonhuman community. Your theriotype has a name or pastlife? You're a fake! You don't have a past life? You're also a fake! You drew your own kintype? You must be a cosplayer then. You're young? Silly kids, it's just a phase! You're fictionkin? No, you're just delusional. You only started to identify as kin after a hyperfixation? You're probably just otherhearted or otherlink, you're not kin and you never will be.
I was distancing from online therian and nonhuman communities because I was tired of hearing the same old story. The same old "sounds like otherhearted or otherlink to me" spiel.
During my time away, I opened up my perspective on what it means to be something other than human. I didn't have anyone over my shoulder talking about how myself and others couldn't possibly be kin.
The truth is, only you get to decide your identity and your label(s). If you say you're kin, then you are. If you say you're otherlink or otherhearted, then only you can truly say if you are. It doesn't matter what kind of mental gymnastics other people are forcing on you, because they do not know what's going on inside your head. If you have genuine intentions for identifying in a certian way, then that is enough. Even if you feel like you gaslight yourself into believing that you're kin, I can assure you that you are still kin.
(If it seems like this ended abruptly, it's because I wrote this like a month ago and drafted it. Sorry about that -w-)

Personally, the idea of having "common" kintypes does not bother me at all (I know some therians feel fake for it, even though it's perfect normal)
Something that kinda drives me insane though, is the idea of me having like... 5+ kintypes. I know there is no limit to how many theriotypes one can have. But it makes me feel so fake. I have one confirmed theriotype, and I am heavily questioning 4 others. But now I'm also questioning if I'm a fox... As well as some kind of reptile. That would be 6 to 7 theriotypes.
There is no problem with someone having 7+ kintypes of course!!! It's just that the idea of ME having that many bothers me... It makes things so complicated... It makes me feel as if I'm just making things up to feel special.
Idk... Can anyone relate?
#Okay I'll tag this as each of the theriotypes I'm sorta questioning#And maybe y'all will see why it bothers me#dogkin#wolfkin#coyotekin#foxkin#deerkin#fishkin#insectkin#reptilekin#waspkin#beekin#crocodile therian#fallow deer kin#Are you seeing that??? That's a lot of options#HDHRHHRHRHHR
