analysing the martials arts of Jujutsu Kaisen - Karate

watching him fight makes my mouth water. every move is so perfect, so textbook, so nerdy almost. he STUDIED pure Shotokan karate. when he punches its the right target from the right distance at the right power at the right speed i wanna melt. the ease with which he shifts from blocking to grappling to close handed strikes. the scene of his beating up the old man in hidden inventory is pure orgasmic karate perfection.

he's super confident when he fights. he puts power in his punches (just the prescribed textbook amount). princess doesn't even tie his magnificent hair up (???).

he's very consistently aggressive. unlike karate, he has the boxing spirit where there's no gap between attacks, no hit-and-run. his attacks end when the opponent does.

god his stances, im drowning its so perfect. when panda is tossing his around in jjk 0 he's alwasy landing in the correct kumite postion, feet parallel and shoulder distance apart, knees only slightly bent.

usage of weaponry is uncommon in karate, but he's adept at it. the Playful Cloud, sanjigun (three sectioned staff) is an insane weapon tbh. if u look at it as a more complex nanchaku (which was my first reaction and mostly how todo uses it) its not that useful, as explained very well here. geto uses it more like a super flexible staff, which is really innovative and gets better use out of it as both a defensive and offensive weapon. but the one person who defo uses Playful Cloud best is Toji.

if i have to summarize, i'd say he fights cleanly. he knows he has both the height and weight advantage on yuta and uses both as full body strikes from "above". plus he's surprisingly flexible even in those flowy ass robes. he knows what works for him, he's done it for a longgg time (those reflexes take years to come) and he does it well. he keeps it short-range. he's a monster in combat.

surprisingly he's not particularly using any grappling techniques, even though he that would give him an easy edge over yuta. maybe yuta's hard to grapple, maybe gege akutami didn't think of it.

if i had to point out any flaws, i'd say he doesn't bend his lower back and hips enough to break falls. its a very minor complaint tho, he's delicious as a martial artist. a big issue is that he clearly doesn't lose much and hence doesn't know when to stop and change strategies. like, his fighting is on reflex, not because he's thinking thru each of his moves. but ig that's more of a personality flaw than a combat issue.

Noritoshi Kamo

it's very funny, he uses an old-fashioned traditional style in a very spunky rebellious way. definitely karate based on the prominence of upper body strikes over kicks, the open handed strikes and punches and that definitive teisho-uchi (palm heel strike). Even though Shotokan karate is more popular, he's practising the Shitorio style. we can tell cuz his stances are more upright, the way he prefers to hit fewer strikes with more powers than bombard his opponent with many strikes of lesser power, and his constantly-changing-his-base-position footwork.

when striking, he uses exclusively 'hard' techniques, as in he's sparring earthbender style, not airbender style. he's going for full frontal attacks and he's putting a shit ton of power behind them, which means he either doesn't expect to get blocked or he's not expecting the opponent's block to be very effective. (if u hit proper fucking hard with no gloves and get blocked hard ur hands will hurt like hell and uv wasted all the power and movement).

however, in general he does use a lot of "soft techniques" otherwise, grabbing megumi's tonfas away mid fight. he also just dodges attacks, only using blocks to create an opening for him to attack. irl, most combat happens in very short range so blocking is easier to dodging. but kamo fights mostly long distance, very typical karate hit-and-run type technique, where u do a few attacks and immeditealy create distance. a good technique considering his tall height. this is also why i think its Shitorio karate instead of kyokushin (which is tougher and keep-hitting-them style and lots of shin kicks).

there's no flashy moves like toji or even geto or yuji. kamo uses the most basic and actually practical moves. even though his strength is a given with Flowing Red Scale enhancing him, by the way he shifts his weight, you can tell that he knows how to turn his speed into momentum to create a shit ton of force. I wouldn't like to get punched by him.

as i mentioned, he's using orthodox styles in his own way. his stances aren't textbook correct, like geto, he's just doing what feels stable to him at the moment. he twists his palm heel strike unlike the common finger-up version. he doesn't move his eye before his head, he turns his whole damn head fully. he's sort of going with the flow, a bit too loosely for a traditionalist.

what confuses me is that he's not using himself to the fullest. at 5'10, he's taller than most people, so why not 1. attack from "above" such as overhead and on-shoulder strikes and 2. fucking use your damn kicks man. specially 'kick down'- the kicks that start above the opponents head and end up pushing them to the ground.

in the anime fight, he's deliberately trying his best to not hurt megumi. the entire fight is really short, but he's doing his best to just disarm and not to injure even a little. he's taller and megumi's head is wide open. the heavy tonfas by his side that makes it harder for megumi to block his face than torso... kamo literally punch his face. im dying here tbh. kamo punch his head. even if he blocks his face ull get a second where his eyesight is completely blocked and that's all u need to hit him in the kidneys or spleen. bam fight over. but noooo he's hitting him in the middle of the chest (twice! vary ur target positions to keep the element of surprise!) like what r u doing my man. it's like he want his attacks to be blocked. he fights like he's only 80% committed to it. i'd call him confused but very very talented.

Kusakabe's Hazy Moon - Jian Zhi and Tsuki no Ken Techniques

In my previous analysis post [here], I touched on Hazy Moon in the context of the Kusa vs Sukuna fight, but I'd like to go more in-depth to show the true genius of his swordsmanship. Kusakabe's expertise goes far beyond traditional Japanese martial arts and kenjutsu, and I want to highlight his remarkable ability to transition and blend various sword styles in real-time combat.

After Atsuya throws hands with Sukuna and dodges Dismantle, we see him make this move:

This is called Sword Hand—Jian Zhi (剑指), which is prevalent in Chinese martial arts but is known by different names in other martial arts around the world. The two extended fingers (index and middle) symbolize the blade of a sword, and the movement has several practical applications.

Directing Qi/Ki through the Body:

The fingers play a key role in directing the flow of vital energy (qi or ki) through the body. Jian Zhi can help concentrate this energy and enhance the precision and effectiveness of specific movements. This is the first reason Atsuya uses this gesture -- to gather cursed energy at his core and begin to direct it into his next attack.

Directing Qi/Ki through the Sword:

Just as Jian Zhi channels qi through the fingers, it can be directed through a blade. ***I'm breaking this application into smaller subsections, as each piece is connected to the overarching concept of Hazy Moon.***

Stability:

Jian Zhi helps maintain balance during complex techniques or transitions. As Kusakabe performs Jian Zhi mid-air, he conceals his broken katana in his suit jacket, holding it in his right hand. As he prepares to land, he quickly switches the jacket to his left hand, using Jian Zhi as a feint while also ensuring stability as he dodges another Dismantle and makes a safe landing.

Kusakabe's next movement has a different gesture with a different purpose.

Transition to Open Hand (Zhǎng Fǎ 掌法):

Kusakabe reveals the katana in his left hand, and his right (dominant) hand transitions from the Jian Zhi into an open-hand Zhǎng Fǎ gesture. He already channeled and focused his cursed energy with Jian Zi, and Zhǎng Fǎ leads us into Hazy Moon.

The purpose of Zhǎng Fǎ is to establish an initial point of contact for the gathered qi, then release and redirect it into the surrounding environment — in this case, Kusakabe's shattered blade. He draws the energy out from the break near the habaki and down to form the cursed blade.

Kusakabe uses techniques rooted in Chinese martial arts, but it is fascinating how he seamlessly blends them with his traditional kenjutsu.

Tsuki no Ken Technique:

While there hasn't been any official confirmation from Gege (as far as I know), I believe Kusakabe's Evening Moon Sword Drawing is based on Tsuki no Ken (月の剣), which draws inspiration from the moon and its changing phases. This sword style emphasizes controlled strength and precise timing rather than sheer power. Techniques often involve circular motions resembling the path of the moon, which can be used defensively to deflect energy or offensively to set up counterattacks.

But wait, it gets better.

Here are some techniques from Tsuki no Ken:

Mikazuki Giri (三日月斬り - Crescent Moon Cut): A crescent-shaped cut made with a wide, arcing motion to generate quick power and cover distance. Battō Sword Drawing in a nutshell.

Tsukikage Sen (月影閃 - Moon Shadow Flash): Quick, darting movements to close distance and strike with precision for rapid engagement and disengagement. We witnessed this several times during the Sukuna fight and once in combination with the technique below.

Shingetsu Arashi (新月嵐 - New Moon Storm): A calm, defensive stance suddenly bursts into a flurry of rapid, aggressive strikes. This technique is designed to surprise and overpower with a sudden shift in speed. See this in action in the fight with Sukuna below.

Mangetsu Gō (満月剛 - Full Moon Strength): Channels the user's full strength into a single, powerful blow, often aimed at a vital point. This was, in essence, Kusakabe's decisive finishing move as he aimed at Sukuna's injured heart.

That wraps up my analysis of Hazy Moon -- just another example of his genius. WE RESPECT KUSAKABE ATSUYA IN THIS HOUSE

Thoughts on JJK chapter 221 (spoiler)

Gojo is out, what a relief that is

We can see Gege's art style change extremely well with him and also, he looks too good in a black shirt

With the last bits of his uniform he even looks like a one winged angel

I wonder if Gojo was able to manipulate his sense of time inside the prism realm. Maybe he managed to stay inside of there for exactly as long as he needed to make a plan for defeating Kenjaku and possibly Sukuna, and that's the things he needs to take care of in the next month

The 24. of December is not a family celebration in Japan, it's a day for couples similar to Valentine's day. The few times Gege has introduced queer elements into the story he did that in a really unobtrusive way and this seems like that as well

Megumi's birthday is December 22 😢

I'm pretty sure that Gojo was directly talking to Megumi in this scene without mistaking Sukuna for him. He's probably going to do that in the future as well to wake Megumi up

Megumi's and Gojo's situations are a parallel to each other: both are lost in a deep abyss, one physical, the other in the mind/soul, and both couldn't/can't get out on their own. Gojo's seal had to be broken by others but he still had to fight his way to the surface on his own through the failsafes that Kenjaku had planned for him.

Megumi also needs someone else to break his "seal", or more like, his despair for his first step of freedom. But the rest of the way to the surface he has to go alone. He has to fight Sukuna on his own to regain back his body.

While we talk about Sukuna: this is the thing that Yorozu told him. What did she create for him and are we going back to that moment again? Why does Sukuna think about that right now? Does he see Gojo as enough of an equal that his loneliness might be pushed back for a while, or does he see Gojo as the lonely person while going through Megumi's memories? And what does Sukuna have to do for Kenjaku?

Also, Sukuna sidestep and Shoko mood

If the next chapter stays with Gojo and he goes for a reunion with the squad then we'll finally get to confront the question: is Nobara still alive? Because logically, Shoko would've to be the one to save her and also fake her death, any other explanation for her survival would become too contrived

Nobara surviving has one big advantage for the good guys: Sukuna/Megumi think she's dead and therefore she'll be a great asset in the fight against Sukuna. It would also be funny if Nobara went on a broventure with Todo together to find the rest of Sukuna's fingers

All in all, super chapter, even though I was spoiled with the leaks, but this time I'll forgive everyone. Gojo returning had really everyone talking.

Hey, I am asking you because I think as an artist you can answer this better.. So I have seen people saying yuuji , wasuke, jin and sukuna look the same. But isn't it just artsyle of gege except for their hair.. Because I have seen most manga characters look the same face wise except minor differences. For example, these people were calling hazenoki the guy who fought kenjaku before takaba and kashimo similar to gojo... By their logic they should be related too.

yuuji, jin and wasuke don’t look the same but they definitely look similar in some ways due to them being related. sukuna also share some similarities with them and yes, the hair seems the most obvious and common charectaristic that ppl tend to notice first but then inumaki had the same hairstyle in volume 0 and he looks nothing like yuuji, sukuna, jin and wasuke. in case of hazenoki, kashimo and gojo, there are some similiraties in their design but to be honest hazenoki’s face reminds me of that one guy from demon slayer who I don’t even know the name of lol and kashimo KINDAAAA reminds me of pre unsealed gojo (he has such a baby face imo), which is probably why gege modified gojo’s design later on and gave him more sharper features. the thing is that when you want to have characters who are closely related to each other to share some similarities you would focus on their facial features the most. I would say that what makes yuuji, jin and wasuke look so similar to one another other are their eyes.

yuuji could change the colour and length of his hair and he would still probably look similar to his grandpa and father. In sukuna’s case I would say that he shares the most characteristics with wasuke.. but the thing is that the facial features don’t have to look exactly the same. the trick is to get their likeness right to have the viewer associate these characters with each other. hazenoki, kashimo and gojo don’t really have that cause they all have at least one distinctive facial feature that separates them from the other two. like hazenoki and his thick eyebrows, kashimo and his sharper eyes (similar to yuuji actually and YET they look nothing alike cause the don’t have a likeness to each other the way yuuji, jin and wasuke do) and gojo’s white eyelashes. 

so when you want family members to look related BUT NOT THE SAME (unless their indentical twins) you would focus on their facial features the most (hair colour and hairstyle can help but that’s not what determines their likenesses), but then again it's really not about drawing the exact same features in the exact same way but drawing them in a way that makes them look very alike. I think you can think about it like when you draw a pair of eyes on a small piece of paper and then you stick it to different surfaces that have similar shapes like a balloon and a ball

and then there characters who have similar designs but don't look like they're related to one another cause of this one or two very distinctive facial feature that separates them from the other.

the thing is that, gege is not only a writer but he's also an artist and I feel like the majority of the fandom mostly associates that with his art style alone. art is so much more than just art style tho. it's also what the artist wants to convey through their work. as an artist myself, I believe that he's very much INTENTIONAL about the way he draws and portray his characters. he wants his readers to make certain connections just by the way he designs them (or makes them act or draws their facial expressions). for example the majority of the fandom knew that there must be some relation between sukuna and yuuji's family, not only because of kenjaku but also because they look like they could be related. and this was deliberate on gege’s part.

This might be a hot take but I think Gege changed his ikemen anime art style into something more square-ish and block-ish solely for the return of Heian Sukuna (in response to the tags in your most recent post)

Hmmm interesting take, i think this sort of Artstyle also leaves more room for Gege's dynamic poses and panelling. It all looks rather nicely, mashed together. I also feel like Gege has gotten better at portraying the vibes of Sukuna he himself has been envisioning for him. No the hating mainstream things to be “unique” is so eugh honestly like just because somethings mainstream doesn’t mean it’s basic…but exactly I’ve definitely lost the spark with jjk I think it just got too confusing? And I was losing the essence of the story and idk I know geges said before that that they’ve wanted to end jjk earlier but something about the editor saying no…? I feel like sometimes the lack of motivation kinda peeks through with how the story was done….which I get because writers block/art block and just burn out in general is so real I just wish circumstances were different lmao…

It’s always Karasu….I think it’s partially also because some manga scenes of him are a little goofy because they give him that smile that almost cuts across his entire face to give him that kinda evil looking smirk….and the anime style kinda striking that awkward balance of maintaining those features but not putting enough detail to go full asshole def makes it a little goofy LOL (but in art they put more effort into like the S2 trailer/teaser visual he looks great with all the shading)

there’s def a lot of areas where there could be more lore (rika’s character page is so odd??) just because of how many characters there are i think!! but i do feel like the story is wrapping up so some things might just be left as questions. or not, who knows!!

yeah there’s def a cycle of like thing gets popular -> everyone loves it -> it becomes so over saturated that people start hating on it to be different -> it becomes overhated -> in a few years everyone realizes it wasn’t that bad. the biggest problem w the “hating as a trend” is that it takes away from legitimate criticisms of the work, as fans will lump it into general hating for no reason.

besides just analyses being so important for even basic comprehension of the plot, i’ve noticed a lot of the storyline is dependent on random interviews gege has done. like nobara’s death only being confirmed because of an interview years after it was written is RIDICULOUS to me (even though i already thought she was dead tbh but there was enough speculation in the fandom that it obviously wasn’t clear enough in-story). things like interviews and character pages should give you fun additional information that can help you expand on a character (oh rin likes horror games!! karasu is scared of the water!! etc etc) but it shouldn’t be the MAIN source of KEY info on a character. idk i think a lot of people love what jjk could be at this point and not necessarily what it is.

YESS i honestly was not super pleased by the female characters in jjk!! they are cool, and they COULD be well written, but they aren’t. i think in terms of its contemporaries, demon slayer does female characters better than jjk (again, not saying they’re perfect because they aren’t, but, say, shinobu is a stronger character to me than even maki).

jjk is a sunk cost fallacy for me HAHA i’ve been into it for over 2.5 years now so i have to see how it ends but i don’t really care atp what happens 😭 i’m like an unbiased outsider…idk it’s sad i wish i could’ve stayed invested but i only even know leaks are dropping because my social media blows up whenever they do.

OMG i also think rin is better looking than sae but i find sae easier to write for some reason?? idk why 😫 like sae is canonically only interested in soccer at least rin likes horror stuff but honestly between the two of them it feels easier to separate sae from soccer than rin?? if only marginally so hahaha. sae occasionally expresses regret at only knowing abt soccer so i feel like he’d be more willing to open himself to new experiences if sufficiently prodded whereas rin is SO invested in soccer (because soccer = his relationship w his brother) that he doesn’t even seem like he could have a proper friendship w someone let alone an actual relationship 😔

it really is always karasu…i do think manga can get away w exaggerating certain features (ex karasu’s smirk) that anime can’t so they have to figure out a way to balance it — maybe it’s the static nature of manga vs the motion of anime?? although karasu hasn’t been smirking much in pxg vs bm 😕 give my boy his swag otoya back!! HAHA but i also think he was such a background character in that one scene of season one that they just didn’t gaf abt him. he’s looked really good in all of the s2 promotional material so i have faith he will be done well!!

KURONA AND KIYORA MY RANDOM AHH KINGS 🙏🏻 they came outta nowhere but they’re slaying atm…ig the hundred goal thing only tested a very specific aspect of playing soccer?? like shooting without anyone on you which doesn’t really translate to an actual game 🤔 like in bllk vs u20 they needed defenders and midfielders who wouldn’t necessarily score but were integral to the game 👆🏻 plus they didn’t all go in at the same time so better players like tabieitaken and shidou were ranked lower than randoms like tokimitsu probably just because they entered later 🤷🏻‍♀️

Chapter 200something: This fandom cannot be normal about Choso and I’m there for it

Hi, I am V, I am the Mental Gymnastics Girl Anime Psychologist whatever that means, and I love Choso and can’t be normal about him.

Honestly, anyone who can get this reaction out of Megumi has got to be really creepy because Megumi doesn’t strike me as someone who is easily spooked. He’s also super psychic so I wonder what vibes he’s picking up from Choso since he’s a half curse.

But anyways, that’s why I love Choso, Gege is always reminding us that he’s a little weird in the best way possible, and I love him all the more for it.

But my favorite part about the chapter was how Gege showed us that Choso basically powered up thanks to the power of broship--just simple, unadulterated power of friendship with a twist, your bros.

Typically this variation of the trope is used in a moment of major despair just when you think everything is lost and you could really just use that one special friend whose power you can rely on.

And with this trope, as per usual, the power of friendship that you borrow from your friends (who are there in spirit) saves the day.

This chapter was so cheesy and that’s kind of what I loved about it because it was so in character with Choso.

And, honestly, Choso really did need the power of friendship to help him power up, because Kenny just looks utterly unimpressed the whole time.

Consider him unimpressed. That’s how powerful Kenny is.

But none of this matters because Gege gave us this beautiful panel of a shirtless Choso proving yet again that JJK is less about Buddhist monks and more about sexy two-dimensional shirtless men.

And JJK Twitter just cannot be normal about Choso and I’m there for it.

But with this chapter, he kind of piqued my curiosity. I just love me a compelling character with a fascinating backstory and motivation.

If you think about it, Kenny is basically a 1,000 year old, bored as hell, enlightened brain. 

I am not sure that it’s canon that Kenny is “bored” but... 

He’s been trying to experiment at mass scale for at least 1,000 years, and he’s been waiting for the exact set of circumstances in the JJK-scheme of things for who knows how long. 

I just get this impression that for someone who’s super powerful and has seen all the human drama there is to be seen over the last 1,000 years, Kenny needed a way to amuse itself. 

And what better way to do so than by becoming a mad scientist?

Do you remember when JJK used to look like this?

I love the artistic journey that Gege has gone through because his art has always been good. 

But recently it seems like he’s hit a sweet spot and polished his very own unique art style. 

In JJK the strongest characters are those who have an overwhelming sense of self. And I feel like there’s something in Gege’s art about how he is discovering and embodying his sense of self more deeply--which ultimately translates into his art changing and improving along the way.

What do all y’all think? 

I write these rambles because I love writing, I love overpsychologizing everything in case it wasn’t obvious, and I love JJK. But I admit I share the rambles to interact with the fandom. So I always look forward to your thoughts too.

I try not to be online too much nowadays because I am actually a workaholic and if I’m scrolling mindlessly all the time then I don’t get much work done.

OH I don’t mind the question at all! Though let me be clear right now that this is going to be a completely subjective answer and also that it’s going to be heavy with spoilers. 

Okay, first things first, if I had to give jjk a general vote on a scale from 1 to 10 it’d be a 8, and that’s only because I read the prequel too! Right after catching up with the manga without any knowledge of the prequel’s existence it was a 7, barely (since Gege tends to treat the prequel in the main story as if you’re supposed to know about it, with all the mentions of Yuuta and Geto and stuff, but then never tells you anywhere in the manga that you were supposed to read it? Or that it exists at all? It even has a different name than the main story! I read the manga with the serious feeling that I was missing something, which I was and no one told me. Didn’t like that very much, ngl). 

I still enjoyed it greatly and binged it all in a day and a half, but, you know, I’ve never thought it a perfect story. Am I enjoying how it is and where it’s going? Yeah, yeah, immensely! I adore it, really, if my drawing it 24/7 for the past over half a year wasn’t proof enough 😂 but it tends to go too fast at times for my tastes, it isn’t especially good at exposition and has confused the everloving hell out of me more than just once. Also it’s chokefull with stuff you’d call foreshadowing that ends up meaning nothing at all in the end and that’s, like, something I wish Gege didn’t do since I tend to overthink these kind of things and then feel disappointed when nothing comes out of it 😂😂 that’s on me tho.

If I had to change anything about it.................no, nothing, I’m good with how it is. Like, it has a lot of problems, definitely, but it wouldn’t be the jjk I fell in love with if it was anything else. Do I think everyone will die by the end of it? Yeah. Am I sad some characters already have died? Very much so. I’m still good with how it is tho, it’s just how jjk is. What else...uhhhhhh right, the characters! I don’t have any I especially dislike or hate aside from Mahito, which I just can’t stand sorry Mahito stans he just isn’t my cup of tea at all 😂 I do have characters I don’t particularly care about, like... Ichiji? For example, or Kusakabe, or most of the Kyoto kids (even Kokichi and Mai only became characters I liked after they died tbh, aside from Miwa and Kamo I’m not particularly into any of them). I haveeeeeee mixed feelings about Yuki, but only cause I feel she outright used Geto’s kind heart and depression to reach her own goals in a way that felt a lot like just an experiment for a theory she had, and I live and die for Geto so you can see why I would resent her for this 😂 but other than that she’s pretty cool, so I’m on the fence with her (again, sorry Yuki stans, I don’t have anything against you all 🙏)

That’s it! Overall I love jjk and I’m fully on for the ride, but I wouldn’t lie to anyone and call it perfect 😂 it’s better tho, I like stories that can fail me and have in the past failed me more, I’m more relaxed while reading them

Part 1: The Compatibility between Pisces and Capricorn

Hello everyone! Today, since I am hella bored and have nothing to do this fine evening, I am going to talk about the relationship between our two boys; Yuji and Megumi and how much they represent their signs so much.

Before I get started, I am not going to talk about their sex life even though it’s kinda important if you are into astrology, however, for this case I won’t because both of them are minors. But if you want to read more about their comparability then be my guess and look at the underline links. I will provide links in the discussion so you can have a better understanding on how the signs are and use manga pages for you to visually see it.

Also, excuse my English. I am very bad at it! Even though it’s my first language I still have lots of errors in my writing!

Let’s get started on this very long essay!

Traits of a Pisces: Itadori Yuji

Positive: Compassionate (top), empathetic (middle), & creative (bottom)

We also have: Warm/gentle, caring, intellectual, animal lover, and romantic

Here we have the positive side of a Pisces and let me tell you it screams Yuji so damn much. Yuji is such a compassionate guy. I don’t think I have never seen a character who is very compassionate like Yuji (I have but we are talking about Yuji here lol). He can empathize with a whole lot of people and no matter what the situation is he understands. Yuji doesn’t need to have the same experience as someone because he can feel and get in their head to make him understand what their going through. Which brings me to that he has a really high empathy level when it comes to people (I can relate a lot because I have the same thing). However, having a lot of empathy isn’t all that’s cracked up to be but I’ll talk about it soon.

A Pisces is also very creative and they love hobbies. One of Yuji’s favorite hobbies is, I have a feeling is sports but that just based on what his old school thought of him + the baseball game. Plus cooking! Cooking is an amazing hobby and it lets you get creative with your hands and skills! I like to imagine that he is the best cook throughout the school and loves to share with his classmates and have them rate his cooking lol! Cooking is also a relief of stress so I can also imagine him having a bad day and just ends up being in the kitchen.

We also have: melancholy, lazy, stubborn, moodiness, etc

Yuji is a very emotional person. We have seen him at his best and at his worse. He is such an emotional person that he felt bad for killing Choso’s brothers. His emotions gets the best of him when Junpei died, Megumi was hurt, seeing what Sukuna has done in Shibuya, and Nanamin/Nobara getting destroyed by Mahito. It’s an unhealthy feeling because we’ve seen Yuji get distracted with his injured friends and him kinda fucking up on his fighting. Another unhealthy trait that Yuji had is not talking about himself. We’ve seen him not talk about his feelings and I mean personal deep feelings that’s always going to be in the back of his head. Like when Megumi knows that something happened to Yuji but Yuji simple doesn’t want to talk about and closes it. He doesn’t really like talking about himself and rather hear other people/helping other people rather than face his own demons. If he’s facing his own demons, he rather be doing it on his own.

I also want to point out that many people think that he gets over people’s death hella easily. No... that is not true whatsoever. The boy has been through so much trauma that eventually you just get so tired of crying about it and you don’t have the energy anymore, you eventually start telling yourself “it is what it is” or “what can I do now?”. Noabra is a perfect example. He didn’t need to cry because he had the biggest mental breakdown when it happened. So when he asked Megumi about her status... he just had to say “alright”.

In my theories... she is definitely alive. Again, Gege is playing half of you guys. She is gonna pop out in the next couple of chapters or even the one coming up next.

Another things that I find interesting in Yuji which according to the links I put, Pisces tend to trust people easily:

Ease of being cheated: A desire to see the best things in other people makes the Two Fish very impressionable individuals. They trust others without any suspicions and often suffer from their frivolity. Any pressure of stronger people is accepted as a command for them and they easily agree with them without any doubts.

For instant, Todo and Choso. Those two mf were about to kill him but they didn’t because of what Yuji’s mind fuck did (I know Gege sensei said that isn’t a theory but still it’s mind fuck lol) He instantly call Todo his best friend like I can hear Nobara (Big sis) twitching somewhere lol. Whenever I think of Yuji and Todo’s relationship, I think of Vinny and Paula D from Jersey Shore haha!

Any who, while trusting people isn’t a bad thing, you still don’t know what their intentions are and everything. It’s a very naive thing to do.

But I felt for Yuji and Choso... Yuji didn’t have much of a choice...

I would like to know what changed Yuji’s mind into staying with Choso. I’m curious how Yuji “trusted” being with Choso after everything that went down. Yuji is a very forgiving character too (minus Mahito). But now, I think we can see that Choso has no bad intentions towards Yuji because he “might” be his brother. And their so cute too!!

On to our other boy!

Traits of a Capricorn: Megumi Fushiguro

Positive: Resourcefulness (top), discipline/patient (middle: also thank @pantherbeamish for the photos!), and reliability (bottom)

We also have: Responsibility, loyalty, diligence, team player, etc

Megumi is a very interesting character. Whenever I see him I get more interested in him. He is exactly what you would describe a Capricorn. We have seen Megumi be resourceful when it comes understanding how curse energy works thanks to him. He is very detailed when it comes to explaining and also a very patient man when Yuji, who doesn’t know jack shit about the Jujutsu world. Never, not once, does Megumi call Yuji an idiot for not knowing all these things. That’s what makes him amazing because if it were other Shonen mangas, the “rival” would’ve called Yuji an idiot. The only time Megumi ever calls Yuji an idiot is when Yuji literally does or says something stupid. To me, that is normal and not being a dick about it because we all know that if we had a friend like Yuji we would’ve stared at him like “why are you like this...”

It’s me... I’m a lot like Yuji lol

But no, he is very patient and tries to explain everything to Yuji as best as he can. I have this thing where almost everyone relies on Megumi a lot because he’s a serious guy + very responsible with his tasks. We see Maki trusting Megumi too. Like the time when Megumi was hyping Yuji up saying he can beat everyone in the Kyoto school if they didn’t use curse energy (something like that lol). Yuji also can confirm himself that Megumi is very reliable. He mentioned it while back at the prison because both sibling duo thought they were lost.

We also have: Unforgiving, criticism, suspicion, pickiness, etc

Just like Yuji, we have seen Megumi’s negative side a lot but it’s simply because he’s sensitive and thinks logically. Sometimes, I also feel like he thinks through his heart as well but that’s just me. That is where the sensitivity comes along. Megumi is hella sensitive he doesn’t need to show it because you can feel it.

Sensitivity: It is better not to offend Capricorns who are very sensitive people. They can’t stand being laughed at and remain serious in public but feel badly deeply in their souls. Even a minor joke can result in resentment from their side!

In many, many occasions we have seen everyone fucking around or getting on Megumi’s nerves, especially in our recent Jujustroll where Gojo is saying a bunch of nonsense and embarrassing tf out of Megumi. His seriousness gets in the way and that’s what makes him sensitive.

On the side note: I also wanted to add something. As I was reading a few articles, some mentioned that Capricorns are... bland. Please, Capricorns!! No me ataques! I just find it interesting that someone, like Todo, who thinks Megumi is boring. Todo honestly thought he was boring since he first asked him what was his type and while Megumi gave us the best answer, Todo expected something more fun. But no, it was boring. Also, Megumi lives a simple life. Now, I’m not saying that Megumi is boring because as a matter of fact I like how simple he is. He likes to keep things neutral. Personally, on his activities he is considered “bland” and honestly, I can see why but I would still go out my way to enjoy it with him if I was his significant other lol I also feel like he has a good sense of style in fashion. I’m saying that judging from the official arts + “Lost In Paradise” because in that ED Megumi be looking like a bowl of fruits. A bowl of snacks lmao!

But, anyways! Megumi is also reserved to himself. He does not like talking about himself at all (hon hon does that sound like someone?). He doesn’t open up to a lot of people but I kinda feel like he does with Gojo but that’s just because Gojo raised him and he just knows when Megumi is feeling a certain way. Also, I bet Gojo just knows when Megumi is having a bad day too. We witnessed him just being in his own bubble in the current arc that is happened in the anime. Yuji and Nobara calls him out about him being so reserved to himself. He does eventually tells them what is going on, but it takes a lot for a Capricorn to open up and it’s totally understandable. I feel as if you want a Capricorn to open up, you have to let them give you time for them to get to know you. Give them your intentions and put in the effort to make them trust you.

Now in to the fun part!!

I think what I truly love about their relationship and love the idea of them being an endgame is the trust that they have for one another(even though someone is gonna die). They barely knew each other for 2 months and their chemistry is off the mf charts.

The picture above isn’t just them having an eye opening moment but the fact that they trust each other to save one another.

Megumi had saved Yuji so many time

Tbh, when I was thinking about Megumi coming in to save Yuji from Yuuta and Naoya, I thought it would be the same as when Yuji saved Megumi and Maki from Hanami, but we got something better. We got to see Megumi never doubting Yuji and always making sure that he gives him as many chances as he gives. I hope that sparks a realization for Yuji because sometimes I always felt that he doesn’t really acknowledges Megumi doing a whole lotta things for Yuji. I’m still complaining about it because if he can say “thank you, best friend” to Todo or “thank you, Kugisaki, for letting me know that I am not alone” to Nobara, then he should definitely see how much Megumi gives a fuck about him.

I expect a “thank for being by my side and never doubting me” for Megumi.

Articles 2: Pisces, who prefers to hand off important decision-making to dominant Capricorn, feeds into the goat’s need to be in control. On the flip side, Capricorn trusts Pisces to attend to its emotional needs—something that can be very difficult to allow at first.

This is interesting because a lot of the time Megumi is always making the plans and the choices. I feel like Yuji tends to rely on Megumi a lot because Yuji respects the way Megumi thinks (I’m not saying he doesn’t do that with anyone either).

Another thing is that:

“Capricorn trust Pisces to attend to its emotional needs-something that can be very difficult to allow at first”

I want to use Yuji asking Yuuta to kill him if Sukuna comes out especially for Megumi’s sake as an example of “emotional needs” because we see that Yuji does not want to be anywhere near Megumi because of Sukuna. In Yuji’s emotional state, he would rather have Yuuta kill him than Megumi. A lot of people also have this head canon that the reason why he asked Yuuta to kill him instead of Megumi is because Megumi already has a lot on his plate or something. I forgot the theory lol

But... I have a feeling that Megumi is gonna end up killing Yuji at the end because it should be him...

While I won’t deny that there is some misogyny in Hori giving Mirko and his other female characters costumes that expose more skin (mainly for fan service) whereas male characters get costumes made from their dna so they don’t have to be half naked, people hating on Mirko BECAUSE of her costume is so laughable since her leotard is meant to look like the one-piece bodysuits wrestlers wear and her hero alias was even inspired by a real life wrestler

It is very damn laughable.

At most, the female characters do expose skin.

But the male characters also service fanservice, if not more. It's just that people are so use to male characters going shirtless during fights, I feel like it just flies over their head that some of those moments are fanservice.

Need a whole board to count the amount of time Midoriya and other male characters went shirtless. That one shot of Todoroki after he almost killed Midoriya after their match? Yeah, the way it's shot, even in the anime, that's fanservice. The costumes are tight, and there are scenes to showcase how tight to give emphasis on the muscles. Crust's costume exposes his abs and thighs and Vlad King's got a whole cleavage window.

That AFO scene when he regenerates his body and he's all buff and nude? That was fanservice.

That scene when Mr. Compress shows his face? Fanservice. Shigaraki and Dabi have became walking moments of fanservices.

What reason does Shigaraki actually need to be shirtless?? After season 5, he can't keep a shirt on. Dabi? "It's to show his scars." Oh, that, too! But it's obvious the team caught on that he has fans that want to lick him. Hence, his recent costume change.

If people gotta talk about the fanservice over Miruko, then bring the same energy for the male characters and the female characters more. That's what bothers me.

Miruko is designed to reference an actual kickboxer. Mirko Cro Cop is a real person (even referenced in the first chapter of JJK which tickles me because it was for Itadori, who is my other favorite. Yeah, Horikoshi and Gege read other's stories and are friends). If the wrestling gimmick wasn't clear enough, her backstory has her wear a mask like a wrestler does and she fights others... in a wrestling ring!! She fights like a wrestler!

So her costume actually makes a lot of sense! Both in the case of her fighting style and aesthetic.

Yes, some of the designs for the female characters could be a little better, but it's the amount of energy people want to bring to voicing their hatred about Miruko's actual pretty tame costume to everyone else. She ain't the only damn body in the story serving fanservice, so stop acting like she is.

And considering that Miruko is also a grown woman is always what make me even more confused.

In the case of Yaomomo and Hagakure, it makes sense people would be uncomfortable. They are still teenagers, just 16. I'm sure we all are tired of the teen girls being half nude for fanservice trope.

But Miruko? That woman is almost 30. I would expect for people to thirst over her just as much as they do the other characters. Grown women are allowed to be sexy.

Oh, my bad. Apparently not. I forgot how people get upset with women who are confident in their sexual appeal and want to show it off.

The same people who complain about Miruko being sexy are the same people who probably read smut posts about Bakugou.

The way the fandom acts towards Miruko is the point of my post from yesterday.

Y'all hate her costume, but don't mind it on your character for your obvious horny reasons. A lot of the fics and art was horny.

Call Horikoshi a "misogynist", but some of you ain't even no better because of your treatment of Miruko. If you're gonna complain about her costume being "too much", then I need to see that for almost every single body on that same post. People like to say "You're just horny for her", well, what's the problem? Same people who complain that Miruko fans find her attractive are the same people who find their own faves attractive and only that. Some of you probably can't remember your fave's favorite food or their birthday. So I'm trying see what's the problem.

"Oh, here's another Miruko butt shot."

That's the only butt shot you noticed? Hm... kind of odd to be specific about a Miruko butt shot instead of "Oh, here's another butt shot". Is it just me who smells the absolute bullshit that this fandom is sometimes? Just me? Could be just me.

A couple of disjointed notes on jjk designs

Along with female characters having you know personalities, motivations and arcs they also have very nice and non sexualized designs. Like its been so long since i saw so many female characters non of which felt like they were dressed up a certain way for the audiences sake. Like we got so many! We got five known girls out of just students so far and they all have varied designs in the way they wear their uniform and all of them seem to speak more about their personal sense of style and aesthetics rather than being made with horny teenage boy in mind. Like Maki has the shortest dress but she never once feels sexualized in it, its really great.

N like i didnt fully expect this because i remember watching the first ep and seeing yujis classmate get groped by a curse n sitting there like ah :) anime. But i think this was something that was on its way out of geges artstyle even then (with exception of meimeis brand new almost tit shot but meimei already makes me uber uncomfy so thats not out of line considering we barely see anything). Like in the prequel we also see a woman get groped by a curse n maki isnt wearing her hhh whats the english word stockings? So her legs are more bare but even then we dont ever see like anything we arent supposed to even tho she like does splits n stuff, mad impressive. So that leaves to me an impression that even back then Gege was hhh about this sort of stuff n maybe did it here or there cuz 'this is how shonen is done' but fortunatly decided to completely drop it by the time Nobara joined the team n honestly mad props cuz its rare that a manga makes me feel so comfortable about liking female characters, like off the top of my head id name nozaki kun n ouran and have beastars balance on that line sorta, its just so rare, especially in anime. N as a woman its so much easier to relate and love the female cast when they arent constantly being presented as blow up sex dolls. Its just really refreshing n really good n god bless geges soul for putting miwa in a suit to joy of every lesbian ever bls give her a scythe next BLS.

On a slightly different note, Momos anime design....YIKES. Like i think the anime so far did a p good job with colors, as far as im aware they changed toges color scheme p much entierly n he looks great, yuji has this dusty pink that looks real nice n maki has this dark green that looks very good. Miwa is sitting on a line for me tbh like she looks ok but i do think her hair color should have been idk like a little less pure blue? Little less saturated? Idk art lingo, but for me shes sitting on a line of 'she looks ok but ciuld have been better'. Like its weird in the op she looks nicer, the lighting gives her hair this silver-whitey feel that works very well for her but then in the anime her hair is just a tad bit too bright blue for me, still digestible tho.

Momo in my humble opinion looks like a disaster n im not just saying that cuz for some reason i thought her hair was sorta dusty pink like yujis. Like her hair is just so...bright. its this weird lemoney yellow that is such an eyesore n distracts me whenever i see a group photo, likw my eyes immidietly fly to her she sticks out like a sore thumb between everyone else with more natural looking/ better made unnstural colors. Like maybe if they went with a darker or more natural looking blonde??? Idk. Her hair is very bright n her face is the sort of pinkish pale n the two colors together seem to at the same time clash n melt into each other where at the same time the outline between her face n hair doesnt seem clear n they both just scream at you. Ill probably get used to it as the anime goes on but rn the prevailing feeling is '...is it too late to fix that?'

Oh also gojos eyes have been bothering me less so i think i got used to them after all, but mad props to both gege n the mappa (it botheres me more in anime cuz also color) to be able to convey a feeling of an ultimate top of the chain predator through eyes alone like SKILL. i think they also bother me cuz without his blindfold gojo just looks like a completely different character to me like if you showed me the two pics of him before i watched/read jjk i would probs say those are brothers not the same person. In conclusion im basically like a baby who starts crying when her dad shaves off his beared cuz she cant recognize him anymore.

XD Lucy, I’m so glad you’ve fallen in love with JJK like I have. 

It’s a really interesting manga and I can’t wait for the anime to animate everying we’ve seen from the manga so far (it’ll hurt so good T-T). I especially love the girls designs because they just feel so much more... natural, then most female designs you get in anime. They feel like girls (also, can I just say how much I love how excited Nobara was to get a tracksuit of all things. It’s not something you really see in manga/anime and yet a girl that gets excited over comfy clothes is so much real to me XD).

I have similar feelings about Miwa’s hair. It’s way too bright in comparison to the rest of the anime designs, they should have dimmed it or something, she just stands out in a way that she shouldn’t have (though I do admit that I like the colour of blue... I’m so conflicted). And I don’t really mind Momo’s hair too much though I do think it could have been better colour of blonde (JJK using bright colours even though it’s such a heart-breaking anime T-T).

Gege and Mappa really did do a great job though T-T

chengcheng meets his inspiration, the girl in his dreams

Chengcheng was a painter. he loved to paint. his passion for painting came from his sister, Fan Bingbing, a famous painter who was known not only in china, but all around the world. the colors he mixed and the paintings he painted, were all in his mind. and all the future works he planned to paint were also planned out in his mind. the only problem that he was encountering is his lack of motivation and inspiration. looking at the flowers outside his window seemed dull, even though they stood out in many different colors. looking at the stars in the sky seemed boring, even though they formed different constellations with a meaning behind it. he didnt bother looking for inspiration nor motivation, so he stopped painting. the vibrant hues of yellows and reds have been forgotten, and same goes for the blues and oranges. all the colors he possibly could think of, were not a priority anymore.

chengcheng woke up at approximately 2:30 am on a saturday morning. beads of sweat covered his body and he woke up panting. 'another weird dream' he thought. chengcheng sighed and covered himself in his blankets. he recalled his dream awhile ago. a girl who was dancing in her own style, but she had something unique in her, she shined in all the different colors possible. her hair exploding in hues of bright yellows and browns, her skin glowing, her clothes of orange, and her eyes. her eyes of brown. chengcheng ruffled his hair in frustration, but came to a stop when he felt a rush of motivation and inspiration come through his body. he gasped and in shock. "this cant be true..." he whispers, images of that colorful girl comes through his head like a storm. he never felt that way in years, and it surprised him that all of it came back.

chengcheng couldnt take it anymore.

he stood up from his bed, opening his lamp before walking to the corner of his room where his easel and paints were located. he gulped nervously grabbing the paint brush and opening a jar of orange colored paint. he dipped his brush into the warm pigment and started dragging his brush in different directions across the canvas. with shaky hands, he continued to paint with different colors and strokes, until he continued to paint the mysterious girl in his dreams.

the girl who stood out in his dream, orange clothes, brown hair, glowing skin skin, brown eyes...

it was all perfect for chengcheng. he looked at his work proudly before leaning the canvas on the wall with care. he already noticed that the sun was slowly peaking, so he looked at the clock which read 5:15 a.m. he sighed again, and looked at his work with curiosity. he mumbled, "who exactly are you?"

y/n cursed, falling down on the floor after making a mistake learning a choreography she has been wanting to learn lately. she stood up lazily and walked over to the bench at the side of the room. she grabbed her water bottle and chugged half of the contents inside. she then wipes the dripping sweat on her forehead with her sweater. just then her best friend, Wenjun walked inside the room holding two sandwiches. one for himself and one for the latter. "dont overwork yourself y/n" the older says worriedly, seeing the bags under the poor girl’s eyes. he hands y/n the sandwich, to which she takes and eats immediately. wenjun chuckles and ruffles her air enthusiastically. "youre hard working, y/n, just dont overwork yourself okay?" he says looking at the younger with sincere. the latter nods in return, "thanks for the sandwich gege" she says with her mouth full, showing wenjun a gross smile. "dont talk while your mouth is full!" he says with disgust while y/n can only laugh at his statement.

"by the way, were going to the art store now, we need new log books" wenjun says while fixing his hair. "ohh alright ill just change" y/n says while the older just nods. after a few minutes, y/n comes back in a  orange sweater and some denim ripped jeans. "alright, sunshine, lets go!" wenjun chirped grabbing y/n hand and dragging her to the nearby art store.

"cheng! breakfast is ready!" bingbing, shouted from dowstairs. the boy groaned and tossed his phone to the side. he groggily walked down the stairs and made his way to the dining table, which had a variety of chinese food and fruits served. "looks like you didnt get some sleep" his mom says worriedly. "i had a weird dream" he says sighing. Bingbing looked at chengcheng curiously leaning her head on her arms. "what was it about di?" she asked. chengcheng ruffled his hair for the 3rd time already and ate his breakfast quietly. "a girl..." he mumbles. his sister rolled her eyes and looked at the latter. "what is it-" chengcheng cut her off by running towards the door and opening it. "bYE JIE IM GONNA BUY SOME PAINTS!" he said and slammed the door shut. bingbing sat there in amusement. "he found his inspiration i see..." she smiled happily. 

chengcheng arrived at the store quite quickly, as it was just a few blocks away from his home. he scrolled through the paint aisle carefully, looking for acrylic paints that would match his painting with the boy. he heard a pair of footsteps walking towards the direction of the store, and two people talking quite loudly. "ge! i also need to buy paints for zhengting-ge! he needs to give them as a gift to xukun-ge" the younger sounding voice explained. chengcheng's eyes widened in shock when he heard the name xukun being mentioned.

cai xukun is a fairly well known painter he was following on weibo. he is known for his abstract paintings, and has 10 million followers on weibo. chengcheng took a glimpse of the two people chatting to find Bi Wenjun, a singer/trainee he heard his bestfriend rave about some other day. and the gitl. the girl whom he found in his dreams. chengcheng's vision was filled with the familiar yellows and oranges he had seen in his dream. y/n on the other hand, looked at the good looking latter in front of him. he noticed the latters face and smiled brightly.

y/n made her way over to chengcheng with a bright smile on her face. "youre fan bingbing's sister, fan chengcheng right? the legendary painter who suddenly stopped painting" she said with a dazzle in her eyes. chengcheng was lost for words. someone called him a legendary painter for the first time. the latter's ears turned red and he grew flustered at the girl's compliment. "a-ah im not l-legendary, t-thats too high of a c-compliment" he says stuttering

The younger chuckles and shakes chengcheng's hand. "im y/n! im one of your admirers. i may not be a painter, but i am a future journalist!" she exclaims. The older slimes at y/n and says. "u-uh, ive been seeing you in my dreams lately and ive gotten into painting-". "ah ge, dont flatter me please" she blushes and hides his face in his hands. "im not kidding though! i painted you this morning!" he exclaims.

y/n could only bow at the legend infront of him. "ah ge, don't you think its fate?" she asks wiggling her eyebrows. chengcheng could only smile shyly. "HEY LOVE BIRDS! ITS TIME FOR Y/N TO GO!" wenjun shouted raising the new logbooks in his hand. "GE WE NEED TO BUY THE PAINTS!" y/n shouts back. wenjun walks over to the counter with paints and payed for them. "well i'll get going, hope to see you soon!" she says, a hint of sadness in her voice. y/n turned around and walked to wenjun who was impatiently holding the plastic bag. "WAIT!" chengcheng shouted, making her turn around.

"C-can i perhaps have your number?" chengcheng asked shyly. the latter grinned and walked over to chengcheng. "sure! bring out your phone ge" she smiled, while chengcheng handed his phone to the latter.

'i can paint you now, you are my inspiration, y/n' he thought, while a rush of colors flood into his mind, forming her with the most captivating smile he has ever seen.

AH GOSH thank you!!! Gojo lives all his feelings to the fullest doesn’t he! He’s a lot of fun to think about as happy and in love, he gives of the feeling of a warm hug to me ;; back in high school Geto was more reserved with his feelings, but I think he’d show it in his own very soft ways.....ahhhhh man, I love them ;;

I KNOW gege really looked at the old gen and went “enough with these dudes” huh lmao but I’m excited to see how everything is gonna turn out from now on! Ah man, I’m glad I can make you feel like keeping trying!! I answered an ask like this a while back here and I can’t say I have anything new to say on the matter? I hope it’ll help you! In the end the biggest suggestion I can give you is to try to figure out what it is that you want to draw and just draw it! Even if you don’t know how to, just draw it the way you can! As long as the act of drawing itself makes you happy more than the final result you’ll keep up with it and the improvement will come for sure!
