!!!! ok first off i just wanna say u made my day with this ask im so excited that other people r excited abt this and want to hear my explosions (also i definitely want to make individual profile posts for each tribute so this will be. sparknotes of what i have thought up so far :D) Tango - i have tango in district 3, along with mumbo. district 3 is the technology district, and with mumbos redstone contraptions and tango's decked out programming, it felt very obvious placements to me :] i dont think they were very close at all before the games. not in a bad way, just they didn't cross eachothers paths all that much (subject to change but in life series canon theyre never on the same team iirc). theyre cordial in the proceedings before the games but dont train together or plan to team up. tango, skizz, and bigb eventually ally together during the training days before the games! (aka heart foundation) Jimmy - jimmy and scar are actually from the same district, district 11! 11 is the agriculture district, and to place jimmy in this district i pulled from his ranchers and empires sheriff vibes if that makes sense. i also just know that 11 is one of the poorest districts and doesn't usually do well in the games, and we all know jimmy in these games. (i considered jimmy in 12 bc of the canary thing, but skizz and impulse r from there and i figured putting him somewhere else is fun too!) scar - as said above, scar is from district 11! i don't think he is expected to do super well in the games from the reaping, but during interviews its clear that he has the charisma to get some sponsors. i honestly haven't thought up all that much for scar yet but dw i will (he literally wins. how could i ignore him) fun fact! scar and jimmy were going to kind of team together, but during the first day of training, scott (career tribute) makes some joke to gem about how they wouldnt stand a chance if they teamed together bc of their district. jimmy let this get in his head and decided to split from scar, causing both of them to be loners at the start of the games. jimmy eventually finds martyn during the games and they ally bc of reasons (that i can get into if we want to), but scar stays relatively alone honestly most of these tributes and their district placements are pretty set in my mind, except for martyn, cleo, and bigb, who i still can't figure out where to put (if anyone has suggestions pls send them lmao). ive got some bits and plot points from the series already worked out into a hunger games universe, but a lot of it i dont! if theres any specific part of the series anyone wants to ask about, please do!! i work best when someone tells me what to brainstorm on lmao. anyways lol hope yall r liking this! i dont have any clue if it will gain any traction, but i've been thinking abt this au so much since the finale and i wanted to try and share it and talk about it with people :D pls send comments or asks abt any of it if you want to !!!

In fact, one you've removed the percentage of people who don’t have sex at all, a large portion of sexually active people (especially women) don’t engage in even the simplest kind of vanilla sex where they ask for the bare minimum of what they would enjoy, what they want, know what they want - many dont even enjoy sex or know how to orgasm. This doesnt mean their sex is abusive or toxic or they have a history of trauma, but just that they dont feel comfortable or that it’s their place to ask for pleasure. They just do what they think they should do, 'normal sex' (a common historic phrase here was 'lie back and think of england' lmao... basically what royal queens were told to think as their husbands butchered them in the least enjoyable way possible).

(I also always found the scene with Steve’s mean friends in s1, after he and Nancy have sex, uncomfortable because they were clearly taking the mick out of Nancy when imitating her screams, and it highlighted how performative that sexual experience may well have been for Nancy. I mean, if Steve made her cum during her first time? Damn, he’s good. But chances are he didn’t, and nancy’s storyline was partially about performances and status in s1, so her first time w Steve also being performative is a possibility. This is so interesting to me - it reminds me of that one anon the regular byler poll blog got recently about their confusion as to why people were speculating about things they can't possibly know the answer to. eughhh this is hard because i dont know much about the other opinions on this ship? OH ACTUALLY some people take their relationship to be that of a Joel dom-ing type situation where he takes advantage of his bully stance in order to date Jimmy, but i take it more in the shonen manga style way? eg: it's because Joel likes Jimmy that Joel bullies him (in a tsundere way)

To me, Joel fundamentally isn't brash or aggressive in nature, it's just the way he ends up communicating as such. His character has bits of anxiety sprinkled in (you can see from how jittery his movements are in-game), while his main value is just being calm and playing singleplayer hardcore minecraft for 600 hours building pretty little structures yk?

to address what you said about mike’s behaviors being more dominant-leaning even outside of supernatural stuff, i guess my stance is that you can’t really separate it? like the way he was in s2 from the start was bc he felt crazy about el being alive or not. and him being the softer version with will is yes bc he has a sense of feeling like he’s taking care of someone, ((((((which i could argue isn’t a traditionally masc role but i won’t)))))) but also because it’s a safe place for him. i agree with you that he is 1000% the de facto leader of their group. he also paralleled joyce a lot in s1 with his persistence in getting will back and getting the others on board, while also being the gentlest and most nurturing of the boys with eleven.

what i love about mike is that he isn’t a violent person, like, at all - and it’s shown in the times that he does try and defend himself/others - it’s unnatural. i love that he can be the leader who people look to for guidance but not because he demands it, he just is. he’s the quietest in the party when theyre at the arcade in s2. there’s a common theme of will trusting and confiding in him where he wouldn’t with others. themes of nurturing, safe haven, emotional intelligence, follow mike before the clear shift in s2-3 when things start to become unmanageable for him. there are a lot of things that set him apart from dustin and lucas in s1 as far as typical masc traits and how they treat el (especially noticeable with lucas, since he and mike have pretty similar motive to get will back).

as far as him not being soft or chill w will when he’s not in danger, i guess we’ll have to agree to disagree? i’m thinking about “another 90 miles, why” and the softness in his tone when theyre on the couch, before will discloses that 001 isn’t dead. demanding and aggressive isn’t his default in a comfort setting. it’s just something that’s easy to pick up on for me, something i enjoy exploring more of, and a cool thing about fanfiction is that ability to have different interpretations or see qualities in characters that you focus on more while others choose different ones to expound on.

i’ve always said i think it’s presumptuous to assume the mike we see, with his clear multitude of external pressures, is the one he’ll be years from now. (will too, but mike is the focus here). and it’s really not far fetched when you look at how he is in his earlier days that he’s softer than the typical boy and would likely level back to that when settled and regulated.

Notes I took from the Grimoire of Usami

If you didn't know, a danmaku fireworks festival takes place in this book and the human playable characters act as judges for the spellcards of various characters. This is the most amount of dialogue we get out of Sakuya and Youmu for a while.

There's a lot of characters that show up so I took hella notes. Big post.

Reimu takes her judging fairly seriously. I didn't expect her to be that critical instead of being laid-back. She's very biased on money/food type spellcards tho.

Marisa had to use a flashlight and Machine Gun Sparkinstead of the actual Master Spark to keep the audience safe. It is what it is.

Three Fairies of Lights teamed up and got a spellcard disqualified as you must be solo

Lily White apparently gets stressed when it isn't spring.

Who was Kagerou aiming at for her first spellcard? Also she's good at acting feral...it fooled Sakuya at least.

Characters that cause actual fires pre-hijack: Sunny Milk & Narumi

In an extremely Yuyuko move, she convinced Youmu to judge in her stead since she "couldn't make it" and then showed up at the competition anyway. She probably just wanted Youmu to enjoy a day at a festival. (Of course Youmu gives her a 10/10)

Marisa is a big fan of Benben's spellcards.

Raiko and Murasa are shredded I am taking that as canonical fact.

Nazrin uses gold from the kappa in her spellcard and gets her points deducted (the kappa are the management behind this event).

Satori's "Brain Fingerprint" spellcard uses fear to determine where the explosions happen. So the explosions happened in different locations for each individual viewer. That's cool as hell.

Marisa's good at determining the actual technique that goes into a spellcard. Her insight is in good constrast to Reimu's harsh critiques.

Futo let people ride her boat hell yeah

Tenshi comes swooping in and almost ruined the whole thing with a dangerous spellcard. To be fair, she didn't know what was going on.

The damage control efforts are really fun. It's cool seeing other characters like Nitori, Murasa, and Kanako step in to help out.

Iku, Miko, and Shou all got 9s in the competition before it got hijacked. I'm not counting Suwako cause Sanae is biased. Miko won though, two of her spellcards got a 9.

Surprised to see Hina show up during the hijack. She usually seems so friendly and kind despite the kind of goddess she is. Maybe she's putting on an act as this hijack does fit very well with her theme of misfortune....heck she could be gathering misfortune from the audience so they dont get struck by stray bullets? Hmm, there's layers to her appearance here.

Murasa sinking Shinmyoumaru is very funny

The humans in the audience are actually mostly onboard with the dangerous hijack...probably because they don't need to actually dodge anything thanks to damage control efforts.

For a moment I thought Byakuren would not join in on the hijack, but she had complete faith in the playable cast to deflect her spellcard. How dangerously reasonable.

Seija's backward comments on everyone is great. She mostly just settles on insulting whoever is up though.

Is this Momiji's first line of dialogue? I like how they comment on her spellcard breaking the 4th wall.

Okina and Yukari also show up as hijack judges. I doubt Shinmyoumaru was able to contact the two of them herself. They must have invited themselves in once they knew what was happening. Heck, Okina even instigated the hijack plan with her own support without the inchling knowing.

Hecatia and Okina are implied to have met in person now. Okina even invited her to the hijack.

Junko showing up is enough for Yukari to immediately join damage control. I wonder is she got any frustrated words from Reimu up there.

Surprisingly enough Yukari ends up asking Eirin to call down Sagume to bring the festival to an end. Once she knew Okina was instigating this it probably wouldn't stop unless something like this was done about it. Resourceful.

Sumireko's outside nerd perspective was nice to see and she didn't even react to poorly to the hijack. I guess that's a testament to the effectiveness of the damage control.

Before, reading this I thought I was going to be super disappointed by Shinmyoumaru's actions here. I got the feeling that she would contradict her own character development or something here.

Shinmyoumaru was (somewhat) the mastermind behind the hijack. To her, the fireworks festival was insulting to what danmaku is. Danmaku is a display of power. Removing the danger from it is just wrong. It's a way for the small to show off their strength! She labours on that point the most; about how danmaku shows the strength of the weak and small.

Shinmyoumaru's weakness as an inchling is a big source of conflict for her. Her species is weak. She gets used and manipulated only to get beat down by the strong danmaku of the playable characters. I wouldn't be surprised if Shinmyoumaru was became enamored by power. With power comes the ability to change the world around you, and even if it's something Seija instigated, it's what Shinmyoumaru desires.

She's a very passionate character too. Yeah, she's one of the more morally good characters in touhou, but it doesn't mean her passion can't lead her down the wrong path and well...that's exactly what happens here.

She's no idiot, her goal here wasn't to get humans in the audience killed. She saw that there's already plenty of power behind the damage control for this event. This hijack wouldn't work if the audience had to run away from it. They needed to witness it and if the playable cast was busy protecting the audience then she had full reign to takeover the judges position.

However, Shinmyoumaru was in over her head here. Okina getting involved made the hijack way more intense than what Shinmyoumaru even had in mind. Yukari even gotten herself involved solely to support damage control (and have some fun with the event of course).

In a way, Shinmyoumaru is completely right about fireworks festival not showing off the true nature of danmaku. I mean, you can feel the disappointment from everyone when Marisa never fires off a true Master Spark. However, the hijack was the wrong way to go about it and Reimu shows her just that.

I don't see the Grimoire of Usami as a bad look on Shinmyoumaru's character. If anything, it exemplified her inner conflicts and flaws. She gets jealous of the many powerful characters that show up because she wants that power. She needs it to be the hero the inchlings never got. Although, she never realizes how much she has already achieved with her own strength alone.

i absolutely do not vibe at all with any red hood steph concept ive ever seen because fucking nobody engages with it in any depth its just 🤔🤔 steph is basically the same as jason right? people who dont like jason online say so so it must be true~

like i need you first of all to walk back several steps and understand two major things about utrh and stephanie brown here. the first is that steph got into crime fighting in the first place bc she wanted to ~spoil~ the crimes of her c-list supervillain father. the second is that the core of the tragedy of the red hood is that batman is supposed to be his fucking dad.

so if you do want to do a red hood stephie concept here which. to be clear is not something i am INHERENTLY opposed to. you have a couple options to make it potentially coherent but you need to actually be deliberate and clear about what youre trying to do with that concept. you need to step away from jasons tragedy and look at hers and figure out where exactly her anger and hurt are coming from and who exactly theyre directed at, as well as what specifically in your au concept it would be so different than the canon one where when she comes back she wants to do pretty much the opposite of what jason wanted when *he* came back.

and. crucially. if the difference is the relationship she has to bruce being different you actually do need to show not tell that dude. im sorry but if you just *tell* me that in your universe that steph has a more deep and meaningful relationship to bruce i 100% always am like "ill believe it when i fucking see it". like, she has parents of her own and while that doesnt preclude having a more signficant relationship with bruce (see: timmy)... you really do have to do the legwork or it looks like youre just writing them out and asking us to take your word for it that Of Course steph wants bruce to adopt her, hes batman! gag, retch, spew. do notdo this.

FRANKLY in a reverse robins concept i vibe way more with steph as red robin than anything specifically her getting the dumpster costume from whoever you do put in the red hood role. Allan is a manipulative lover, basically using his own affections and affairs with the cop to keep him from busting them. Keep in mind this doesn’t mean he’s a bad lover- just that he’s holding over Gilbert’s head if he ever chooses to bust them, the secrets out. Manga - you two will make comics together and its honestly the best <3 you do the storytelling and he draws the comic itself. Its to the point that the entire class is anticipating its end (in a good way I mean)

Honenuki - writing (by computer, on a phone, or by pencil) for extended periods of time can cause a few issues with your hands so honenuki makes sure that all of the muscles in your hands are worked out and dont have any pent up stress after each writing session

Bondo - he loves reading your stories and helping you with ideas while your writing but most of the time he just stays near you if you need a second opinion. He only leaves to go make you both tea and get you some snacks

Monoma - this is the only thing monoma wouldn't tease you about. Hes a big fan of all things art related (art, writing, theater, ect.) He heavily encourages you to write and even compliments it often (not on front of the others ofc)

Reiko - she canonically reads a lot so I like to think she writes a lot too. You both would write for eachother and proof read eachothers works. It helps you both become better writers at a pretty quick pace.

Rin - hes your number 1 fan. Everytime he reads something you wrote he would give you feedback while simultaneously telling you how much he loved it. Hes also pretty good at getting you out of writers block.

i can honestly say, taking off my shipping goggles for a moment, bkdks platonic relationship has ended. it really ended two years ago, culminating when bkg took a bullet for him, and then was cemented when he apologised, you know, to trample down any doubts. there we go, narrative concluded! from rival to best friend. all loose threads tied in terms of their relationship. if that's how it had ended, how it had stagnated, remained in stasis, with this New Dynamic the new canon going into the final battle then show over. yeah. typical shonen bestie stuff. it would have ended and i would have gone "oh they were in LOVE fr" forever, but knowing that people who were like "this is what besties are like! this is what siblings are like!" also had as much of a claim to their interpretation as mine (even if i didn't personally agree w it lmao)

BUT IT DIDN'T STOP THERE and i have to ask why???? WHY is it more central i Don't Get It. i dont understand? i really dont get it cause.... why? bkg is important to deku, yes. other people are also important to deku (all might, his mom, his other friends, civilians, any lost pet he has to kill himself over cause he is a Good Caring Shonen Protag). that has been established for forever. so i don't rly understand the necessity to further highlight that One part of his personality (caring about kacchan) to motivate him into fighting the Big Bad Villain, when 1. he would've fought the villain anyway cause that's what heroes do, and 2. it could have been a generic "you hurt my friends!!" and like lump in more people there, like in the first war arc where several people got hurt (aizawa, gran torino, etc).

but No! you hurt that guy. that guy, that while he was dying, the villain, textually, explicitly says, "i am hurting you because it will make deku angry and sad, since you are his most important person" (that's almost a fucking quote im basically QUOTING here). and it's like, what? lmao wait. what?? why???

what is it building up towards?? i dont get it. it's not going to build up to the apology/their relationship being mended (what we thought would be the climax of the whole thing), cause that already happened. there's no "oh my god if kacchan dies he'll never get to say sorry!" stakes, or "oh my god if deku fails he'll never be able to be friends with kacchan again!" stakes, cause like, that already did happen though. i mean i know obviously in real life, you do things for people just for their sake, not because of what it will mean for your narrative arc. but this is a made up story and thus needs storytelling reasons for shit to happen. so what is the reason for deku needing to be pushed, needing to be backed into a corner, over kacchan dying? why did bakugo have to die (had to get FRIDGED, it's a trope and everything), if not so that his death would fuel dekus rage (which we were told explicitly was the reason why)? why, out of everyone on the battlefield, out of everyone in the CAST, did it have to be bakugo, the one to make deku Lose It?

i mean we know why, but still. what? is it really, textually, canonically That?

Shadow being on Chaos Island. The full track for Act 1 was just released and its a banger, but it got me thinking about why Shadow is on Chaos Island to begin with.

Frontiers canonically takes place after Forces somewhere in the timeline, which we know also canonically takes place after Generations, where SXSG is adding on to.

Is it possible that Shadow visited Chaos Island BEFORE Team Sonic and Eggman? That they're adding an original story for Shadow that is set in the past and we just didn't know about it? Is THAT his reasoning for visiting Chaos Island??

Which is a genuine question I'm asking right now. I'm just trying to wrap my head around why theyre sending Shadow to Chaos Island as A a place that appears in the future of this game and B said place was somewhere Shadow did not travel in the game it was featured in! late(ish) reply bc i struggled to figure out how to word this in a non-rambling manner (failed, ultimately lmao)

i will say, a lot of people liked s4, and there were things i had fun w/ too (smth the show has going for it is the sound design and presentation and that was top notch in s4), so i wouldn't say my own complaints would bother you as much or make it not worth listening to, just that... it might and it certainly irritated me personally to the point of dropping it.

the biggest thing that is especially apparent to me are how flat and unrealistic the side characters are. like, that's always been a problem in the show, but holy shiiiit dude. there's so much drama and angst surrounding arthur but all of these side characters, who could have their own complex motives and thoughts towards him, are like "no arthur is my special special boy. also i just met him" (oscar cough cough) and it's. well. it makes me want to rip my hair out. like i can say with absolute 100% certainty that if arthur were a woman everybody would be like "god, such a mary sue" but LOL

there's also the feeling that i have constantly with this show of just... diminishing returns for conflict and massive inconsistencies. in the beginning of the show, i was making theories and paying attention to cool little details, but after a while i gave up because i started to feel like... it was difficult to pinpoint what elements of the story mattered / actually stuck and what didn't. if that makes ANY sense ^^;

like, i've whined about this before, but i still can't get over how little impact survival cannibalism had on arthur's psyche. i was just kinda waiting for SOMETHING more there that never came. it really feels like it was just forgotten. like... partly this is a me thing bc i like cannibalism as a horror trope and was like "yessss <- freaks" but surely it's not wrong of me to expect the horror show to have more to say about the whole cannibalism thing that apparently happened 😭
