after that you’d begin to notice little things that he’d start to do that make you realize you need to let him be the one to decide when to come to you, when you’re allowed to touch him, etc — and honestly you’re just grateful to be making progress.

you’d be on the phone with a friend one day when they start asking about your new hybrid, taehyun’s ears perking up from the kitchen; (you glance over to see his head poking out and his boba eyes sparkling with interest before he catches you looking and instantly scowls, feigning indifference as he disappears again 😭😭 your heart clenching at the cuteness..)

him listening intently as you talk about him, surprised as you even defend him when your friend makes a comment about the cat hybrid stereotypes — “he’s not ‘hellish’ in the slightest. he’s been very good. he just likes his space, that’s all.”

but his favorite part of all would be when they ask you about his breed, what he looks like, etc; his chest swelling with pride as he hears you talk about how handsome he is, how strong and lithe he seems to be, and he finds a purr escaping from his throat at the praise as you boast about him.

after that, even more progress seems to be made; like him randomly coming up to you one day with an extra bit of his food in hand as he places it in front of you and says, “i brought this for you.” and walking away again before you can respond 💀

with how put-together he always seems, you’re finally starting to see how cat-like he truly is the more he opens up to you ❤️‍🩹

he starts speaking to you more often too, his voice a pleasant surprise to you; smooth and even-toned, inducing a bit of a blush from you whenever there’s a slight rasp or purr caught at the end of a phrase.

he perplexes you at first with how blunt or monotoned he can be, but you learn to read him better as time goes on, learn to understand his subtle undertones, and each flick of his ears or swish of his tail.

you’ve also learned that he can be won over with certain treats and presents… which ends up leading to the mess you’ve found yourself in now.

i went a full game without thinking too deeply about it, but now that we’re here…

i haven’t finished the case yet but it is so silly and fun! a great breath of fresh air after 6-3 (which was harder than i expected it to be /pos).

looking back at the series, it’s pretty funny how far we’ve come with attorneys’ attempts at projecting prosecutors’ and defense’s adversarial relationships in court. we went from edgeworth trying to cover up having allied w the defense in 3-5 to simon jumping from the gallery to athena’s aid, right in front of the judge in 6-4. does someone wanna call that out or…?

the whole balloon thing w geiru gave me a good chuckle. good ol’ udgey.

really really loving the banter between simon and athena. it’s pretty clear he dotes on her. her respect for him is easy to see as well. nahyuta fits really well into this dynamic. i’m liking him tbh!

i’m also really happy with how DD and SOJ have emphasized the diff skill levels between WAA’s lawyers. some of the contradictions athena can’t pin right away are things i imagine apollo or phoenix could spot. now that the initial shock of athena’s gimmick has worn off, i actually don’t mind it. athena has really grown on me. you can tell she’s quite young, so props to SOJ’s writing team for that.

Gonna start with a list of who goes to who for advice the most and the least!

Green:

Zelda - literally for everything, she knows all his secrets and he knows hers

Blue - to confide in, if he needs a shoulder to lean or cry on and Zelda isn’t available he knows Blue will have his back (and also beat up whatever made him upset)

Vio - for a practical response, he trust Vio and he knows that if he’s lost as to what to do then Vio will have an answer for him

Red - also for emotional support, but he can be a little reluctant because he hates that if he goes to vent and starts crying then Red will cry too and he hates making Red cry

Shadow - don’t get me wrong Green cares for Shadow a whole lot but he knows Shadow doesn’t understand his own feelings most of the time so he doesn’t want to burden Shadow with his own

Red:

Vio - Red often goes to Vio first to find a way to just rant without having to put his thoughts in order, Vio just lets him get it out before helping him sort it all out

Blue - Red LOVES Blue, but he hesitates to confide in him at times because he worries Blue will get a tad too protective and go straight to punching whoever made him sad. He IS Red’s first option when he needs optimal comfort though, like if he feels he needs a hug he will run to Blue (Blue gives the best hugs fight me)

Shadow - mostly to gossip LMFAO, Shadow also gives great hugs and always offers to kill anyone for him, Red has yet to take him up on the offer

Green - Red loves going to Green for comfort, he always listens intently and waits until he’s done to give him his input much like Vio does, Red just hates burdening him because Green is always so busy

Zelda - same as Green, hates burdening her but trusts her 100%, crying on her shoulder is a healing experience

Blue:

Red - Blue knows he can always go to Red, it’s always hard to get him to open up because of his pride but when he does open up it’s always to Red first. He knows Red would never judge him for being vulnerable so when it’s time to break down he only wants Red to see him

Green - Green is Blue’s closest friend, he trusts Green to always keep his secrets and give sound advice, but Green is also going to be his King soon and that makes him want to be even stronger so he can always keep Green safe from inevitable threats

Zelda - Blue has an immense respect for Zelda, as his friend, as a ruler, and as a person overall; he watched her rule her kingdom from a young age and keep the peace all six of them fought hard for. However as his queen he’s sworn loyalty to he tries not to bother her, keeps a respectable distance that Zelda herself tries to narrow

Vio - Blue and Vio’s relationship can seem complicated from an outsiders perspective, they poke and prod, they tease, but as they’ve grown and matured they’ve each learned when its ok to make fun and when you need to back off (it took a lot of trial and error throughout the years trust). Much like the others if Blue needs an answer to a question he will go to Vio, but it’s hard for him to open up emotionally to him because Vio always seems to kept together and he doesn’t want to fall behind

Shadow - to Blue Shadow is super fun to be around, they used to get into a lot of mischief together when they were younger and although they’ve matured a lot they find trouble one way or another. They’re both good friends, but Blue and Shadow are the masters of bottling things up so you won’t catch them having a heart to heart very often

Vio:

Shadow - the love of his life, Shadow knows things about Vio that Vio himself wishes weren’t true. Shadow sometimes understands what Vio needs before he even says it; and Vio doesn’t cry often but the times he has it’s been with Shadow there to put him back together

Red - Red is a great confidant, and Vio’s best friend, and although Vio considers himself the smartest in the group he knows Red has him beat in emotional intelligence, so when it’s his turn to be vulnerable (which he hates) Red helps him prepare for it

Zelda - Vio loves Zelda’s company, she’s smart and witty, yet completely honest with him; in Zelda’s rare free time they’ll sit and have tea together and talk about anything and everything. Vio would never admit it but Zelda is the funniest person he knows (he doesn’t want to hurt Shadow’s feelings)

Green - Vio trusts Green wholeheartedly, he’d put his life in Green’s hands in a heartbeat, but Vio doesn’t like how Green tends to hover so he hesitates to show any distress around him

Blue - as mentioned before Vio and Blue’s relationship is complicated, Vio doesn’t like showing vulnerability around Blue because he knows it makes Blue feel awkward seeing him as anything less than perfectly kept together. However not to say Blue wouldn’t be there for him, he would, they both would, but they try to keep strong in front of each other, it gives them a sense of normalcy and security they often need

Shadow:

Vio - just like it is vice versa, Vio often knows that Shadow is feeling down or overwhelmed before he himself knows, and although Shadow thought he would hate that he doesn’t. Vio is the one who taught him how to feel more than just anger and scorn, Vio gave him his first real laugh of joy, his first tears of sorrow and heartbreak, and even after all that Vio made up for it and taught him that he was able to feel all of that because he was in love. There’s no secrets between them

Zelda - to many people’s surprise Zelda is Shadow’s best friend, when he was first brought back he gravitated towards her, wanting to repay her for making him realize he wasn’t just a puppet of darkness but his own person. She took his emotions in stride and alongside Vio taught him so much about what he feels, so he confides everything to her

Red - Shadow and Red are very close, when Shadow needs a laugh or a smile he’ll rush to Red, he always has kind words for Shadow no matter what, confiding in his isn’t as easy as it is with Vio and Zelda but Red has always understood that and it helps put Shadow at ease. Again they gossip a lot together

Green - Shadow doesn’t go to Green often, much like Vio he doesn’t want him to overly worry and hover, but while he isn’t Shadow’s first option, he always brings a sense of belonging that means a lot to him

Blue - like mentioned earlier Shadow and Blue are masters if bottling things up, most of the time when Shadow goes to Blue it goes “hey this person made Red/Vio/Green/Zelda sad wanna go beat them up together?”

Zelda:

Green - that’s her soulmate, her other half; Green knows Zelda’s deepest fears and worries that she can’t allow herself to share with anyone else. He knows of her visions of the future and her past lives, of how much past wars haunt her, and he holds her through it all, when he proposed he promised to always keep her and her people safe, he would always be a hero worthy of her

Shadow - Zelda loves Shadow, you’d think she’d be scared of him given he was once her kidnapper, but as she’s always said “I wasn’t scared of you then and I’m not scared of you now”. Shadow is only slightly disappointed, but loves how she’ll ask for him when she’s overwhelmed, saying she needs someone who won’t try to sugarcoat anything from her. Zelda knows Shadow would move mountains for her and she would do the same

Vio - Zelda made Vio one of her advisors early on, she values not only his practical knowledge but his resourcefulness as well, they’ve spent many a late night pouring over documents together and its led to deep conversations. Vio takes as much workload off her shoulders as he legally can and she in turn forces him to take breaks

Red - Red is the little brother Zelda always wanted, as a single child who had to grow up too fast having someone so kind and fun to be around is something she cherishes so deeply. When she needs a hug she’ll seek him out, she knows she’ll always leave an encounter with Red with a smile on her face

Blue - Zelda knows she can trust all her boys with her life, and Blue is no exception, they don’t often confide in each other, but let’s just say that after a certain encounter that leaves Green in a terrible state Zelda learns Blue is not as cold hearted as she feared he was, and she’s made an effort to break down his walls. No knight should have to face monsters on their own, wether they be external or internal

So long story short these six idiots all love each other, but as you could have guessed they have certain people they go to for certain worries/situations. I can’t wait to share more on their relationships with one another!

Hii!! I’m about to go to sleep but I can’t stop thinking about that stupid tiktok story I made I thought of I said I was going to do something I would actually do it but it obviously doesn’t work that way… I mean I could screen record all of the videos I need for the amount of edits I’ve promised but I just can’t seem to get myself to do it. It’s not the first time I’ve not been able to do something even when wanting to do it my brain is just tired alll I think about is getting the day over with I’m not enjoying to edit rn but if I stop I’ll lose the growth of my account that I worked so hard for idk I’m also moving so now there’s another thing to think about during the day it’s not like my mind is blank all day either I be thinking of the most random things most of the time daydreaming I literally walk around daydreaming I be so immersed in the little perfect fantasy version of my life that I can’t hear people around me probably some of the music if I have headphones on my eyes are heavy they’re basically shutting by themselves

I just read a part of n&t that explicitly talks about Apple being Black, has Elushin being a demagogue and being racist (not at the level of saying n** or saying horribly racist things but heavy, clear connections to racism)… to my writing group.

I feel like I have a bad habit/double-edged sword of zeroing in on the most taboo stuff I can think of, in a kind of desperate attempt to be heard, confirmed, challenged — dealt with. So that issues can be shifted, put to bed. I feel like confronting the taboo is sometimes the core of good art, but usually it’s about oppression the author has been through… not trying to wrangle with the oppression of others. It’s an odd and slipperily deplorable thing to write about. I often wonder if it’s like, a pathological compulsion, focusing on these stupid little thought loops (*hand-button-meme SAY SOMETHING OFFENSIVE*) in the face of other literary issues one might write about. Or like I’m pretending to be stupid and naive just so I can say all this stuff. But then I imagine publishing this anonymously and how I would just go for it and really believe in the underlying project at play (digging it up, making people look at it, searching for what rings true — the valhala in it to use n&t word) so a lot of what’s going on here is embarrassment about my being connected to it. About the author being me. (I hate how open I am, it makes me so vulnerable and potentially unhirable, but is also such a beautifully deliberate way to live life, like a drug high, to make it unreal.)

Anyway, it was terrifying to perform and I would give money to hear what people truly thought. But in lieu of that I have to base my faith in what I think and what they said (consider the evidence, my therapist says).

Was silent for a while, then it opened up. Ppl kinda skirted the issue, but it was hard to judge what % of that was that they didn’t really understand what was going on in the story, and what % was not wanting to touch the racism issue bc it’s so charged. The teacher/moderator is a Black author and reading the piece I was like oh god this feels… bad. but also like damn if I can’t like read this and feel behind it when I’m around non-white people then the story obviously needs work. So I’m just gonna do it. Her advice wasn’t that intense, she actually spoke for my piece which was an honor, she was like, there’s a mythic quality to it, like an Aesop’s fable. And you’re clearly trying to get to the bottom of some kinds of issues - religious, social overtones, discrimination. And her biggest critique was how impossible it was to orient oneself in the world bc it was confusingly constructed.

I was like “did you guys feel…uncomfortable with me reading this?” One guy was like “nah.” “Did puppy go on [being racist, I was exhausted reading that] for too long?” “Nah.” Then another guy was like “I didn’t like how you apologized for saying the word ‘retarded’ [in a quote from elushin], you either have to say it and stand by your use of it, or find another word.” Then we had kinda a productive conversation about using a word that makes such a big splash that it drowns out everything else. The “nah” guy was like “yeah I had to edit mine a bit for words like that” (boomer white guy tbf).

So I mean, it was actually a productive discussion, and any feeling I have about having sucked all the air out of the room I don’t have any evidence for. Just how I felt. Nobody said they were offended, they were just like, hey, maybe revise that word if you have to trigger warning the whole thing for it, probs not worth it, sometimes words have too much impact (and I’m dealing with a much bigger thing than I really understand), but if it’s not pointlessly there to offend or shock then do you. Also one of the women later called me “wise” while I was critiquing her I practically spat my water out lmfao. What a compliment wow I WISHH lol I was like “3% of the time” (hoping to get to 6% by 40) (I was sooo flattered lol)

Anyway, this got me thinking about how to do all the stuff I’m doing but to what degree to mediate it, so everyone doesn’t tense up and can kinda feel safe to enter and grapple with the issues. That’s one of the great powers of fantasy: you disguise everything a little, you do it with stuffed animals so people can kind of deal with it. And there’s a real point to subtlety, it’s not frivolous. Showing a little kiss is very different from hardcore fucking in a movie. I always just want to arrow straight to the bullseye but maybe that’s the wrong way of looking at it, maybe I can shoot straight but without… killing the beast. Or to kill the beast it has to be earned, it has to be timed right.

Part of me is also like, we live in such tight-lipped times for dealing with racial politics. People are so afraid of touching it and having their reputations ruined. It reminds me of this story I just read about 1940 when no one’s allowed to criticize the world war. The same largely formless yet overwhelming social pressure. I think we’ve had a giant racial reckoning on a social level in the last few years, a long-needed one, and dealing with race has gotten really confusing for white people. And that we should confront it openly. And what’s cool about writing is that you’re *allowed* to bare yourself and then sometimes people are like “meh we didn’t really like that” and then you get to grow from that.

“(Y/N), I didn’t mean to eavesdrop.” Hirugami quietly starts, slowly opening the classroom door in a calming manner. “I heard everything,” The middle blocker nearly cringes but ultimately contains his composure, how the hell is he supposed to lighten the situation. “I’m really sorry. Are you okay?”

One look into your tearful expression and frazzled state tells Hirugami everything, of course, you’re not okay.

“It’s alright, Hirugami, really.” You offer him a wobbly smile, one that does you more harm than good as a sob crawls its way up your throat. Quickly, you try to wipe a tear off of your cheek before swallowing tightly and trying again. “You should get to practice.”

Hirugami wants to desperately run his hand through his hair and express his frustrations but, he remains calm for you and for the situation. Why can’t you just express your feelings with him?

“Hirugami! (Y/N)! We have practice, let’s go!” Hoshiumi’s voice rings throughout the classroom, abruptly stopping when he notices your tearful expression. “Oh no. Hirugami how could you reject (Y/N)!” Hoshiumi complains, groaning out loud, at the confession scene and his friend’s lack of taste.

“It’s not that, that’s not what’s happening here.” Hirugami tries to explain, gesturing generously with his hands in order to keep his ace at bay.

“I’m just dealing with something personal.” You quietly whisper and finally gather your things off of your desk.

“(Y/N),” Hirugami attempts to stop you, placing his arm out in front of you so that you can’t get past the door.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” You nearly choke, your flustered state getting the best of you. You feel like you might melt to the floor any second now, you’re so overwhelmed and your teammates are not making it any easier. “Please let me go to practice.”

Hirugami hesitantly lifts his arm up, watching you as you flee from the classroom and out into the hallway. It’s so silent and tense in the room, he all but sighs.

“I got it mixed up, didn’t I?” Hoshiumi asks, lightly scratching his head as he closes his eyes in thought. “(Y/N) rejected you, didn’t they?”

“No, it was not a confession scene.” Hirugami clarifies as he grabs his bag and walks out into the hallway, after you.

“What was it then?” Hoshiumi can’t help but get nosy, he’s curious and might explode if he doesn’t find out what exactly happened.

“I don’t really think it is my place to tell you. I’m not even supposed to know.” This time, Hirugami sighs loudly and his eyebrows furrow in worry. He’s not even sure why he is so distraught over this, if it’s because of you or the situation you’re in. “Apparently, their cat has to be put down.” His voice is so quiet, it’s almost a whisper. Not even Hoshiumi has anything to say right away.

“That’s really upsetting, (Y/N) always talks about that old hag.” Hoshiumi somberly stares ahead of him, his worry growing just as quickly as his teammates. “They don’t want to talk about it?”

“I guess not.” Hirugami frowns and stubbornly acknowledges your will.

“Then we just have to be there for them! Give (Y/N) support like they give us!” Hoshiumi lightly taps his cheeks, bracing his game face. “Subtly show support while acting as normal as possible.”

Hirugami wants to sigh, that’s easier said than done.

“Come on, let’s go out to eat!” Hoshiumi announces as he steps in front of your path the minute practice is over, he crosses his arms over his chest to ensure that you don’t get away from him.

“I’m not really in the mood,” You sigh and shift the strap of your bag higher up on your shoulder. “you and Hirugami go.”

“(Y/N), we need you to babysit,” Suwa calls from the supply closet, busying himself with a mindless task. As a second-year it was only natural for Suwa to put you in charge of the other second years, specifically the most animated ones.

“I’m tired!"

“If those two get in trouble then it’s on you,”

“Fine, fine. Where are we going?” You bitterly blink back tears of frustration that have welled up in your eyes and try to remain calm, in reality, all you want to do is go home and sleep. The mere thought of your warm bed waiting for you is enough to have you sniffling in irritation. At your question, Hoshiumi gives you a supportive pat on the back as his head tilts up in thought.

“Let’s just go to a convenience store!”

“And have a picnic?” You ask sarcastically but Hoshiumi’s eyes light up, the idea clearly resonates with him.

“Yes! Let’s go! Let’s go!” The shorter second year grabs his close friend by the arm and pulls the three of you close together. “Hirugami, let’s go!”

The walk to the convenience store isn’t long, if anything, Hoshiumi fills up the silence with endless chatter. Rants rest on his lips as he recalls events from earlier in the day, he’s all too consumed with his words to even notice you and Hirugami trailing a few paces behind him.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Hirugami asks lowly, dipping his head to ensure that you can hear him. “Talk to me, (Y/N).”

“I’m fine,” You quietly murmur back, biting down on your tongue and hoping that if you say the lie enough that you’ll start to believe it.

“I know that you aren’t,” Hirugami continues to push, his head tilts back as he stares up at the night sky and not at the frustrated look on your face.

“What do you want me to say, Hirugami?” You finally snap, your anger boiling beneath the surface, your voice is loud enough that it even catches Hoshiumi’s attention.

“What?”

“I have to lose someone special to me, important to me? That I’ll never see again? Do you really think that I am okay? What kind of stupid question is that?!” You spit, voice raising in octaves as your nerve ends begin to fry.

“(Y/N),” Hoshiumi tries to gently rest his hand over yours but you snap your wrist away before he gets the chance.

“No, I am not okay, Hirugami. Stop pushing me about it.” Your water eyes do nothing to help your case and you bitterly try to push them away with the heel of your palm.

“Don’t forget that we are here for you!” Hoshiumi declares, his voice holding that same serious tone that you only hear during matches. “Just tell us. We want to be here for you.”

His words only make your defenses crack even further and when Hirugami opens his arms, you just about lose it. When one of your closest friends offers a hug, who are you to deny it? Even Hirugami hums in thought.

“We’ll always be with you, (Y/N). Don’t go quiet on us.”

Karasuno

“(Y/N),” Sugawara quietly gasps as he enters the gym early one morning. The last thing the setter expected to see was you, bawling your eyes out, just as the sun was beginning to rise. “what’s wrong?”

You push your tears away with your palms before finally looking up to meet your friend’s worried gaze, his doe eyes only making you feel more anxious.

“Nothing, I mean,” You suck in a harsh breath and try to keep the tears at bay, but to no avail. “my cat has to be put down.”

Sugawara can only watch with an aching heart as you curl in on yourself, bringing your knees to your chest as you sob into your hands.

“Sorry, I was trying to stay calm but I just found out and,” You’re unable to speak as another sob wracks your body, Sugawara is by your side before you can even blink. He gently places one of his hands on your band, softly rubbing circles into your skin while trying to calm you down. “I think I am just going to skip practice.”

“No one would blame you,” Your friend gently coos, momentarily making eye contact with a first-year who had just entered the gym. Tsukishima, followed by Yamaguchi, only makes a face at the scene before him as he enters the locker room. Yamaguchi offers the two of you a sympathetic smile and then follows his friend. “people are starting to enter the gym, do you want to leave?”

All you can do is nod.

“Is there anything I can do to help? Or the rest of the team, any of us can help.” Sugawara gently leads you to your shared classroom, offering you tissues from his bag as he does so. “Daichi and Asahi will do anything for you, you know this.” The playfulness in his words makes you softly smile.

“I’ll let you know if I can think of anything.” You reassure him and Sugawara grabs his hand in yours before offering a heartfelt squeeze.

“Can I tell them what’s going on, the team?” Sugawara is surprised by your tight nod and your verbal acceptance.

“I think, if I’m going to be absent from practice the next couple of days then it’s only fair.”

“Hmm, alright,”

The next you saw of any of your team members was until later in the day. Much to your surprise, you were practically tackled by a short first year as he desperately clung to your arm as a supportive gesture.

“(Y/N)! I hear what happened, I’m so sorry,” Hinata pouts, his hair visibly deflating under his sympathy. “I love your cat! You always take the best pictures of them!”

“Oh, thanks, Hinata.” Your smile turns wobbly as you face the first year and you glance up at the ceiling to try and hold back any tears.

“Do you want me to go with you to the vet? Or we can hang out after school to get your mind off of it?”

“Hinata, I really appreciate it, but aren’t you only procrastinate to find a way to get out of doing your homework.” You tease him and gently flick his forehead, to which the younger player’s nose scrunches up in denial.

“No, of course not! Tsukishima is going to help me study!” Hinata almost screeches, desperate to get you to believe him.

“Is he really?” Your disbelief must be apparent on your face, judging by the dejected sigh from Hinata you must’ve caught him right in the lie.

“No."

The rest of the day followed as normal, it was as if nothing had changed but you still had that impending feeling of dread clouded over you.

Well, your day wasn’t completely normal. Even your shyer first years had come up to speak with you, Kageyama and Tsukishima had even gone as far as to mutter their condolences without so much of a hint of sarcasm.

It seemed as if you were still surrounded by the same level of chaos that you were already accustomed to. Except, Nishinoya and Tanaka’s screams in your ear were much quieter than normal.

Your entire team knew something was going on and were all going to support you through it.

Seijoh

“(Y/N)?” Kindaichi gently calls out your name, poking his head around the corner when he hears your quiet sobs. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?” He timidly tries to reach out to you but is too unafraid to say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing to upset you even more.

Kindaichi has no idea of what to do when someone is crying.

“Obviously not.” Kunimi sneers and judgmentally glares at his friend, his overall face softens when he looks back at you. “(Y/N)?”

“I heard my poor manager’s sobs from a mile away! Baby, what’s wrong?” Oikawa pushes past his underclassmen dramatically, skillfully dodging a hit from Iwaizumi when the pet name leaves his lips. The setter sits right next to you on the bench and wraps his arms around your shoulders before pulling you into his chest, the warmth of his chest melts all of your resistance away and you can’t help but sob into his chest.

It’s a few minutes before you can pull yourself together, to even form a coherent sentence.

Iwaizumi sits on the other side of you and gently rubs your back while the two first years had run to find their other upperclassmen.

“My cat,” You start out, trying your best to swallow the sob in your throat. Even as tears well up in your eyes you try to push through it, just to get it out. “she has to be put down.” Although your voice is soft and just barely above a whisper, it still echos in the empty hallway.

“I’m so sorry, (Y/N).” Iwaizumi speaks up and nearly flicks off Oikawa when he notices his captain tearing up. “You know we’re always here for you whenever you need it.”

“Always, always!” Oikawa sobs, finally breaking as he wraps his arms around you even tighter. He practically squeezes the life out of you and refuses to let you go.

And as much as Iwaizumi loves to tease Oikawa for being so sensitive, as the cancer he is, he can’t help but appreciate the sympathy he is able to deliver.

“We’ll be there any day that you need it.”

Iwaizumi and Oikawa are, they follow through with their words, and even rope in Matsukawa and Hanamaki. The other third years don’t even have to be asked when the situation is explained to them, they’re there before Oikawa can even notice it.

“Be graceful.” Oikawa lowly warns with a brightly fake smile, narrowing his eyes at his friends. “We have to be helpful to our manager.”

“Obviously, dumbass.” Iwaizumi spits out and pushes past him to ring your doorbell, patiently waiting for you to answer your door.

“Iwaizumi?” You furrow your brows as you open the door wide enough for just your face to be seen, the wider it grows the more people come into your view. “What are you all doing here?”

“Moral support!” Oikawa pouts as he offers you a hug, one that you gratefully accept. Matsukawa places his hand on Oikawa’s shoulders and leans in just enough for the setter to hear what he has to say.

“Real graceful.” After he pats his shoulder, Matsukawa enters your house with his other friends trailing behind him.

“Do you want something to eat?” Hanamaki offers as he quickly finds himself in your kitchen. “You’ve eaten lately, right?”

“Umm, sorta?” You have to drag Oikawa further into your home and blink away the fresh tears pooling in your eyes once you notice just how quiet it is. “it’s fine.”

“Here, here, they’ll make you something~” Oikawa coos and pushes you onto your couch before sitting down right beside you. Hanamaki has to bite back the insult that is simmering on his tongue.

“As much as I hate to admit it, he’s the best at comfort.” Iwaizumi whispers quietly, trying to keep his glare in front of him and not on his best friend. “Let him do his thing.”

“His thing? You mean sympathy?” Matsukawa nearly rolls his eyes and goes down to sit beside you on the couch.

“I’m sure she loved you very very much, (Y/N)! You always had so many stories about her and so much history together!” Oikawa tries to reassure you and places his hands over the tops of your own. “You can tell me more stories, oh, or let’s name a holiday after her!”

“So good at comfort.” Hanamaki coughs and ducks the moment Iwaizumi swings at him, almost fighting back with the spoon in his hand.

“(Y/N), it was her time and that’s okay, you know that right?” Matsukawa asks you, staring intently at the side of your face as you numbly stare ahead. All you can muster is a weak nod as you feel your throat tighten up and tears stubbornly pinching at the corner of your eyes. “She loved you very much and will be okay, she’s doing better now.”

“I understand, Matsukawa.” You shakily whisper and are unable to swallow the sob in your throat. “It’s just hard without her.”

“I know, (Y/N).”

Oikawa whimpers quietly beside you and pulls you into his chest as he tries to hide his teary expression from your view.

“We will make a beautiful garden for her! Or, or name a street after her!” The captain can’t stop himself from trying to help come up with a comforting memorial, something to help you grieve.

“Whatever it is that you pick (Y/N),” Iwaizumi finally comes into view and pushes an ice cream sandwich to you as an offer. “we’ll be here to help support you. Forever how long you need.”

“Always, (Y/N)!” Hanamaki yells from your kitchen as Matsukawa gently tugs on your sweater.

“For now,” Iwaizumi pauses before taking a seat on your floor. “why don’t you tell us some of your favorite memories while Hanamaki finishes cooking what he thinks to be your favorite dish.”

“It is their favorite! They told me themselves!” Hanamaki retorts back, defending himself as Matsukawa lifts his hand in a gesture meaning he can vouch.

“Or tell us funny stories about her.” Oikawa sniffles, smoothly wiping the tear off of his cheek. “Or we can watch your favorite tv show? Or we can go get your favorite snacks like a little trip down to the convenience store?”

“Whatever it is, (Y/N), we’ll do it.” Iwaizumi tells you firmly, looking you deep enough in the eye for you to know that he means every word of it.

1. How did you get into Warriors?

i reference ‘when i was in 6th grade’ a lot but i actually read these for the first time in 3rd or 4th grade, my memory’s fuzzy. i also don’t remember how i heard of these books. my classmates were probably obsessed with them and i must have picked one up. it’s too long ago for me to remember. what i do remember is my 6th grade self was like the 3rd or 4th re-read, definitely not the first. 

2. Favorite Arc

oots??? possibllyyyyyyyy ???>..... i would say tnp.. i really like tnp

oots i like it because everyone’s alive at that point, like leafpool’s in that series but it’s not like jayfeather was in tnp. does that make any sense? no main characters really die post-tpb so they’re all just like.. coexisting in oots. 

3. Favorite Book (excluding mangas, super editions, novellas)

twilight, and twilight’s always been my favorite book bcuz leafpool in love is so cute!! night whispers is kinda like this but w/ more drama & also jayfeather exists so yeah i love night whispers as well.

4. Favorite Super Edition, Novella, or Manga

BLUESTAR’S PROPHECY no doubt in my mind. i dont even like super editions but that’s my favorite. i have only read like one other as well and it’s crowfeather’s trial but bluestar’s prophecy is like my favorite piece of literature ever written so i doubt anything could ever surpass it in any context honesty

that book is written so beautifully, like every scene is important. it makes me cry so so much.

im not gonna explain my thoughts because i dont have a perfectly rational reason for liking certain characters. it’s usually just “they’re interesting & cute.”

:: oakheart is definitely definitely one of my all time favorites- i just feel weird saying it because it’s only in the context of like one book... it’s not like tigerheartstar where he is a pos in some books and the highlight of others; oakheart just only appears extensively in bluestar’s prophecy lol

7. Least Favorite Character

tbh i like most of the characters, there’s not many characters who just ruin a scene by existing. i like good characters and i like evil characters; i rly like hawkfrost (or at least my hc version of hawkfrost). but i don’t like characters that change completely like onestar. and i also just don’t like characters that do morally incorrect things in the name of the warrior code.

8. Most Aesthetically Pleasing Cat

leafpool or feathertail. nah bc crowfeather was onto something; i’m judging based off of polish covers. 

based off of the reprint covers, ashfur on long shadows or jayfeather on sign of the moon... idk i just like blue eyes. my favorite cover of all time is probably dark river though because it’s so so pretty. owen richardson’s take on wc isn’t really accurate to the descriptions, i prefer satzzz’s drawings. out of those, jayfeather, leafpool, & squirrelflight

firestar bc he’s the only mf that didn’t do a 180 on his personality after becoming leader *cough* tigerheartstar *cough* everyone in avos *cough*

i like my headcanon version of hawkfrost. like the manipulative one. bc hawkfrost is. pretty (w/ his ice blue eyes and dark fur like-) and i like the idea of him using that to recruit trainees. 

my favorite villain canonically may just be ashfur because the “upset? i’m not upset. you have no idea how much pain i’m in” monologue is just so funny to me. oh & that long shadows reprint cover is so so pretty

11. Favorite Medicine Cat

jayfeather bc while i like leafpool better, homegirl should have just gtfo out of the clans. so many times i when i read the books, i’m like, “crowf&her should’ve just left. being a loner is better than this.” they treated her like shit. additionally, she did become a warrior? for a series, so that every time she appears jayfeather or lionblaze can shit on her some more for being a bad warrior. (i’m just saying this because she wouldn’t really fully count for this question ig)

tbh i just like that jayfeather’s an asshole but he’s geniunely really good at curing people and he’s really smart. mixed with his superpower, he’s defo the most powerful of the three. 

12. Overrated Character

uhh i like most of the wc characters. like there’s no one who when i see them in a scene i’m like, mad. a character that i dislike but the majority doesn’t is hollyleaf. sorry but how she treated leafpool in sunrise was so unacceptable and unjust. it makes SENSE but i still hate it.

poppyfrost is a popular minor character but i really liked honeyfern, maybe just because i really like the aesthetic of the name honeyfern. oh and their drama w/ berrynose is so entertaining and also fucked up i love it

15. Favorite Pairing

my favorite ship that is healthy is cloudtail x brightheart. they’re cute and i really like cloudtail after he becomes a warrior. cloudtail training brightheart after the dog attack?? yes. also they have some spice and conflict w/ daisy in tnp, which makes them better than like... brackenfur & sorreltail or some shit. conflict creates stronger relationships. and they’re dovewing’s grandparents?? imagine lil dovekit & ivykit pouncing on grandpa cloudtail’s tail and he like pretends to die or something. missed opportunity. IMAGINE bristlefrost visiting her great-grandparents in the elders den & brightheart is the sweetest... does that actually happen in tbc because i haven’t read it yet- i hope so.

honorable mentions:

- tigerdove, love that shit. the old era ends with them apart and dovewing with bumblestripe but i really liked them in night whispers. 

- jayfeather & briarlight BUT i think that briarlight likes him but he doesn’t like her back, not because there’s something wrong with her, but just because jayfeather doesn’t really feel affection in that way.

16. Least Favorite Pairing

again do not care bc i am an optimistic person

i cant even say nightcloud/crowfeather bc that pairing has a purpose and it fufilled that purpose perfectly. 

nvm breezepelt/heathertail!! i’m sure they get development in crowfeather’s trial but they are probably my least favorite.

graystripe, firestar, and sandstorm. i don’t like tpb but you can see traces of their friendship even in the later arcs. so sweet. honestly. them being on patrols together is the cutest thing, just like a lil friend group. unproblematic too

18. Favorite Moment

i dont really know, but a scene i always go back and re-read is leafpool’s kits being born in leafpool’s wish. leafpool has so much love for the little ones and it’s all before they grow up to resent and hate her (for no reason????.....😐😐😐😐) 

a concept i really like is bramblekit/paw being a tigerstar clone in tpb. i think it’s clever and bramblepaw’s reaction to the news, as well as the fact that he is not the one who leaves. 

19. Most Tragic Death

ferncloud+ sorreltail in dovewing’s silence/the last hope. more or less dustpelt & brackenfur’s reactions to them, i’ve always liked those guys because they’re just like. dads, who love their wives yk? and then the she-cats both die.

Okay I gave in and I am watching Street Dance of China Season 4 X’D

- I love how international the pool of contestants is. Even if they barely speak each other’s languages, they can appreciate each other’s talent and skill.

- I did not watch last season so all of the contestants are new to me.

- I watched the opening film on Reddit and it was really fun and it’s probably a big part of why I was hooked into the show haha. There’s some loose lore there that isn’t super important. I liked seeing how all of the captains had performances that suited their own style of dancing. Also I think people think that Jackson’s going to guest on this season because apparently he voiced the guy that invited all of the captains.

- Han Geng slipped mega fast into gege mode while helping Henry and Yixing......I may catch feelings.

- The random method of choosing dancers is pretty fair imo, especially how they separated them into categories (e.g. dancers based on what style they danced, etc.) so that the teams would be pretty even. Also it must’ve been fun for the dancers to get a little figure or trading card of themselves lol.

- Out of the choreographers, I think Eleven and Wang Run left a bigger impression on me. The others were awesome too though.

- My favourite rooms/streets is probably Yixing’s or Henry’s. A lot of people like Yixing’s because of how striking it looks. He lucked out because red is always the most striking colour haha. But I like the scifi feeling of Henry’s room. I think it’s quite cool.

- Henry’s 100% showing off his language skills hahaha. Part of it is for him to show off his skills (lol) but the other part of it is that he’s trying to break the ice and make his team feel included even if they don’t speak Chinese.

- Yixing......so awkward. So much dead time lmfao. I love him but he cannot MC to save his life hahaha.

- Yibo is so serious lol, no introductions.

- I was thinking that if I was a contestant, I’d want to be on Han Geng’s team. He’s the chillest, but it isn’t that he isn’t prepared. He’s just very relaxed.

- I mean, all of the performances were great, what can I really say?! It was interesting seeing how some of the dancers from other cultures used Chinese music.

- I was thinking about how with “mainstream” pop dancing, dancing is used to complement the music, but in all of these performances, the music was the complement to the dancing.

- Rochka fanboying over Ibuki was pretty cute, not gonna lie. There are also quite a few Japanese ladies on Yixing’s team, and I love they cheer each other on. But seriously, Ibuki is such a little warrior princess!!! Love her :P

- Speaking of which, Yuri getting one of the Chinese dancers to teach her how to say 你很帥 and then practising it was cute haha. I just love how even though there’s a language barrier, they have fun with each other.

- Acky san uwu. I think he’s just here to have a good time, and he’s so encouraging and friendly and relaxed!!!!!!!!! Love him. He’s the supportive uncle lol. AC is also pretty cute haha. After Acky performed, AC gave him a big ol’ hug.

- Lmao Lil Kev and Nelson not feeling the food that Han Geng brought....to be fair it probably is something that is an acquired taste. In the end, the staff brought them burgers.

- Seeing the captains put the teams together was fun. Teamwork!!!!!

- It always amazes me how FAST dancers can choreograph and put together a dance. I’m assuming their dance backgrounds help them to recognize common dance moves but still!! RESPECT!

- I LOVED the five person performance from Yixing’s team, choreographed by Bunta. It was a little less uniform than the performance from Yibo’s team, with the dancers dancing in ways that matched their styles and body types, but still looking cohesive as a team. And it went with the music super well, expressing the lyrics of the song. I couldn’t stop rewatching the performance haha.

- Bouboo seems so cool. Like he’s so chilled out and calm but also super steady. Whenever he walked out for his battles, I was already like oooooh the stage presence. This man is so cool haha.

- The Bouboo vs. Ibuki battle was very interesting because we can see that their strengths lie in different areas. For example, I felt that Ibuki did better in the upbeat songs, whereas Bouboo was better in the chilled out relaxed songs. That being said, I felt like Bouboo had more variety in his repertoire. He had a lot of different moves. Ibuki did default to waacking quite often, which makes sense because that’s what her strength is. I also felt like Ibuki was more dancing to the music, whereas Bouboo was moving “alongside” the music. Like, Bouboo was hanging out with the music whereas Ibuki saw the music as a set of rules to follow.

- I thought that this show might have a lot of “variety show editing” e.g. showing reactions from a million different angles, but surprisingly, it is paced very well. There is almost always something happening.

- Why don’t they cut down on the episode length? This show had three very distinct sections (1) formation of the teams, (2) teams getting to know each other and “auditioning,” and (3) the battle between Henry and Yixing. So I’m confused as to why the show is going with nearly 3 hour long episodes. I checked MDL and apparently this show is supposed to have 12 episodes. I know Chinese shows have an episode length limit of like 40 episodes, but even if this show cut down on the number of episodes, it would not reach 40 episodes, so I am very curious.

- I liked that we got some commentary from the judges. Even though we’re all about good vibes, I still liked that we got judge commentary to explain to us why they chose who they chose.

- I think my favourite teams so far are Yixing and Yibo’s teams, but I’m also not sure if it’s because the camera purposely gave us more screen time of their teams because they were battling first. Yixing and Yibo’s teams seemed very friendly and cohesive and supportive thus far. I would want to have Han Geng as my captain, but I would want to have teammates like Yixing’s or Yibo’s haha.

- I am hyped for the next episode haha. It’ll have more performances since there won’t be any introductions required anymore.

hellraiser. god this series is so fucking good and i just absolutely love 80′s horror films, especially the ones with practical effects like this. it never fails to creep me the fuck out and i love it so much. like the idea that this realm of beings is on a completely different level, so evolved that they confuse sexual pleasure with pain? and the ‘jesus wept’ line at the end always gives me chills. ugh. so good. i only watch the first two tbh

john wick series. i always have so much fun watching it bc it’s literally so engaging and i love the world building. plus keanu reeves?

Terminator Dark Fate Analysis Mexico Edition

Welcome to the Terminator Dark Fate Analysis Mexico Edition, where I’m going to dissect, comment and give my constructive criticism at every reference, landscapes, locations and well, everything that goes Mexican in this movie of ours.

  First things first: I just realized the version delivered to the mexican theaters is DIFFERENT to the rest of the world, why? Because the characters who originally speak Spanish are DUBBED AGAIN, like double dubbed. So ironically, in Mexico we couldn’t get to hear precious things like “no mames”, WE WERE DAMN ROBBED.

OK HERE WE GO:

That bridge is sending me, it really looks like a bridge from here or vial distributor like they call it in a more elegant way.

No, forget it. That kind of bridge doesn’t exist here but nice try, I appreciate that.

Here’s where something really funny starts because what they say doesn’t match with the subtitles at all hahaha 

The girl says “no mames” and it’s subtitled to “Oh my God” AND it was dubbed as “No inventes” hahaha this can’t be...

And here, the guy says “yo siento lo mismo”, it’s subtitled as “I feel it too” which is accurate but when they dubbed it they went with “¿y esos ojos?” lmao

Can’t forget to mention this ICONIC scene, of course.

The moment when the cops arrive reminds me of the meme where there’s some thiefs robbing something and the cops are asleep but there’s someone naked or doing something else and a fucking troop arrives, here is one example of the meme I’m talking about:

kidnappers - cops asleep, thiefs - cops asleep,narcos - cops asleep,an old lady selling flowers - the fucking troops.

"¿Qué le pasó a tu amiga, wey?" the cop saying this hahahsha lmao like I said WE WERE FUCKING ROBBED.

And here’s the first mistake: the patrols have signs saying “policia municipal” and “cdmx” (Mexico City). In real life that’s impossible as “policia municipal” (municipal police) is one thing and “cdmx” is a totally different city, patrols can’t have both things but hey, the design is spot on.

Never in my life I imagined I’d be alive to see this piece of art: Mackenzie with “Sí señor” playing in the background. The first time I saw this I was losing my shit even more cause Mackenzie was somewhere in the same room, probably watching the scene too. This is so powerful, wow.

This is sending me hashaha, in the dubbed versión the guy shouts at her “pinche gringa ratera” (fucking gringa thief or something) and it’s translated to “Go to hell lady” come on hahahaha so I prefer that over the original version, damn it I wish I could have a hybrid version of this cause is gold.

The heroic CDMX, fuck yessss! I would have loved to see the Popocatepetl. I’d like to think the suavicrema is in the background, so maybe is Chapultepec?. So what is a suavicrema? Could be like a brand of ice cream wafer and that tall building in the background looks like one, lol. Omg, ok I’ll stop.

Next: we can see doña pelos in here cooking her food. Doña pelos or doña lupe is how we call every lady who sells food in the street, so for practical effects this lady is doña pelos.

Here’s the proof we call them like that:

It translates: “So doña pelos is taking marketing courses” cause she’s using an Adobe logo to promote her food of the day, which is “adobo de cerdo” hahaha

Let’s move on.

No, it’s not “do you want your tamal”, it’s “tortita de tamal” aka the famous guajolota, that’s what she’s asking. A guajolota is “a sandwich composed of a tamal placed inside a bolillo or telera, which is a rounder version of a bolillo.” Yes, I got it from Wikipedia, don’t judge. 

Also, a lady selling garnachas (like quesadillas, etc.) AND tamales? That’s new.

She also sells mangos? Wowowowow that’s versatility. 

And “le robo un manguito” “can I steal a mango?” Dani, you have to pay for that, you can go to jail for like 30 years, I’m serious, remember the meme of the cops?

Someone said she may be a prostitute and I can’t even…so you can’t dress with whatever you want? But also I’m a little suspicious and she actually may be one depending on what zone is Dani supposed to live. 

A pink cab! I thought it was a Nissan Tsuru because they always are but this time it’s not. Missed opportunity, production design team.

Also some say the Rev-9 is driving a snow plow truck, is it? The only time it has snowed in Mexico City was in 1967, a long time ago.

Everything is screaming “circuito exterior”, yes I’m getting those vibes and I’m here for it.

Another pink cab is seen. Fun fact: because of its pink and white colors, we call them “hello kittys” and before that they were like wine color and gold so we called them “iron man”.

ROAD SIGN 2: Querétaro/Toluca/Tultitlán on the right side they’re driving

ROAD SIGN 1 again: first mistake fellas, now the sign is in the lane where they’re driving.

ROAD SIGN 3: Ecatepec/Texcoco, how do I know? I just do.

ROAD SIGN 4: This is my fave because in this one there's my shitty town hahaha SALIDA LECHERIA-TEXCOCO AV.JOSE LOPEZ PORTILLO Y COACALCO hahaha

It really looks like the circuit, I drive there a lot of times and Grace was there, destroying everything :')

And to finish this deep analysis, I want to point the great originality (sarcasm on) they had with some character names: Diego Boneta is Diego, Alicia Borrachero aka Carl’s “wife” is called Alicia and at some point the Rev-9 is called Gabriel, like hmm ok, I remember Diego Boneta’s character was rumored to be named Miguel but yeah it was just a rumor. Ohhh and the lady selling tamales her real life name is yes, you guessed it: Mona.

This takes place after the press conference Shouto has to give due to Izuku’s disappearance.

Shouto rubbed his face with his hand before running it through his hair, a sign of his restlessness as he ignored the headache that wouldn’t let up and the chai latte that sat in front of him. 

“Have you slept?” Tenya asked him, trying to get his attention. 

Usually when he’d get like this, Izuku would take Shouto in his arms and effectively calm him down, or he’d let him just be restless until he got tired and ended up resting his head on Izuku’s shoulder. But Izuku wasn’t here so he didn’t have that luxury and it’s not like Ochako would lend him her husband for the same kind of treatment. 

“Hardly,” Shouto answered as he avoided eye contact. “I can’t...I had difficulty sleeping.”

“Maybe you shouldn’t be drinking caffeine then,” Ochako offered as she reached for said drink. 

The chatter and clatter from the baristas would have been great background noise for Shouto, but every little ‘clank’ and whirl of blending machines just made his head pound harder. This was a much better alternative to being around Endeavor and he was grateful to his friends for having understood his distress. However, running on very little sleep and going through the stress Shouto was experiencing was not making anything better and all he wanted to do was lay down and...dissolve. Time and space didn’t feel real to him. 

He needed to get a grip. 

“It was really bad,” he mumbled, resting his hands under his chin. The whipped cream of his drink was the most interesting thing to him at that moment, mostly because he couldn’t feel it judging him. 

“No, I think it went well for the most part,” Ochako tried to give him a positive smile. 

“We’re not supposed to...lose our composure,” Shouto explained. “Or yell at reporters.”

“I think...it is understandable that you did such things, considering the questions being asked,” Tenya assured. “You didn’t yell...you raised your voice, sure, but you still did an excellent job. You’re under a lot of pressure and stress right now, but you answered the best way you could.” 

“That question was also stupid. I really don’t blame you for snapping,” Ochako added. Tenya gave her a look, but she didn’t waver. “You were in the right to have answered like that. It was a good response.”

Shouto didn’t even know why he was so worried in the first place. The media said all sorts of shit about pro heroes all the damned time. Calling him rude or misinterpreting his tone was going to happen whether he liked it or not. A lot of his actions had been misunderstood even if Shouto had been direct and clear with answers and intentions in the past. So why now, of all times, was he so concerned? He never cared about what the media thought about him, so why start now? 

“Thank you,” Shouto finally answered. “Both of you, thank you. I...I don’t know how I’m functioning right now.”

“You’re a strong person, Shouto,” Tenya said with a small smile.

Ochako slid his drink back towards him. “Maybe you should drink caffeine then.”

Shouto gave them a tired chuckle. “Maybe.”

I am actually really proud of this scene because I didn’t plan for it to even be there. It was something I thought of last minute while writing and it fit really well imo. @tododeku-or-bust got anything you wanna share with the class you’re working on?
