Dislike how whenever you talk even a little about your own opinions and experiences on a topic where you’re in the minority (even if you address it in the most neutral possible way) you inevitably get backlash from people in the majority group (whose experiences and opinions you are exposed to all the time with zero complaints from you) who are offended at you for making them feel bad as though your identity or experiences or preferences are somehow an attack on them or some kind of diss or a call to action. Like, no, you do you, but please just let me do me too and don’t try to force me to be silent about it 24/7 when I’m totally cool with you doing your thing. Not everything is about you.

I got a break from work so I’m gonna write this.
Hi, I was the anon that wrote about dimidue and emblaskr (guess that’s the ship name) earlier and the problematic biases underlining both (moreso with Askr and Embla).
Also, I absolutely do not hate Askr, he’s my favorite character, but I did want to hide my identity in that previous take as much as possible since Embla’s a pretty popular character. But it was cowardly of me. The rest of this post is going to elaborate on why Emblaskr is problematic and reflects racist trends in the media.
If Embla truly loved Askr, she would have never tried to hurt him so gravely. Invading his kingdom, trying to kill everyone he holds dear…that isn’t love. That’s obsession, jealousy, selfishness. When he died, I believe it was less that she cared about him, but more that she lost the chance to have someone unfailingly caring about her again. It’s a matter of possession and satisfaction. She can’t have Askr. When she dies she calls out his name, but again that reinforces not her love for him, but her desire to not be alone. It is inherently selfish because even as she dies she thinks only of how she is affected. She laments being alone, not how she cares about Askr. If she cared about him, would she have ever tried to commit such terrible acts of violence and hatred against him? Never in the story do we see her atone, see her feel guilt.
Embla is all about control. Controlling her people, controlling those that go to Askr, controlling Askr even. Because she doesn’t want him to be happier than her. She wants him at her level.
TV Tropes has an article called the Black Best Friend. Askr isn’t confirmed as black, but he is a poc character, and this trope can affect non-black poc as well. The details of this trope are quite similar to how Askr is. For the sake of length I’ll only go through a few.
Askr “is used simply as a means to make the white character look better.“ Without him, Embla would never have received her Freudian excuse. She would have been the equivalent of Surtr without Askr’s existence.
Askr is “flawless to the point of being unreal.“ He is unimaginably perfect. He has no flaws, no deep seated issues to speak of. One can argue he may not have been a good listener to Embla in their flashback, but the problem is that this isn’t an issue that is talked about or delved into. He is also a bit oblivious, but again, this is ignored. It would have been great if Bruno called Askr out for his ignorance and seeming apathy, but it doesn’t happen. What about how he and his sister suffered due to Embla’s bitterness? I would have loved Bruno calling Askr out for trying to paint a sympathetic picture of Embla in front of him, since his life was ruined by and ultimately taken by her later on. And I would have loved if Askr reflected on that, apologized, and realized that he himself does not deserve to be the long-suffering supporter of a woman who hates him and wants to destroy everything and everyone he loves. But this doesn’t happen, and Askr is glossed over to be genetically perfect. We can brush him aside so we can focus on more of Embla. This isn’t good treatment of Askr. Actively ignoring facets of his character to make him bland and generic compared to the “deep” and “complex” Embla is just a symptom of racism, in trying to make sure he doesn’t overshadow her.
Askr “revolves almost entirely around a white character.” (Found in the laconic tab). As before, he is merely focused on the white Embla. He should have been a prominent character on his own, but he is instead quickly killed off (see another familiar trope on the website, Black Dude Dies First). Askr is the first prominent casualty of the book on top of having less screen time than any of the other ocs. We even see Letizia more than him, alive at least. The following times he shows up is in her memories. He provides even more development and focus for Embla!
Askr only exists to uplift the Embla, to carry her trauma and help her process it, and to no benefit of his own. She belittles him, threatens violence against him, and it’s seen as…romantic? The white female character actively engaging in war viciously attacking him and emotionally abusing him is…romantic? If this was a relationship that existed in real life, Askr would be considered a victim of abuse. And there are relationships like this in real life, sadly enough. Embla is capable of her actions and I’m sick of seeing her woobiefied by parts of the fan base. And it is her own fault that she refuses to see past her flaws. She is long past being a victim. It is not Askr’s job to handle her emotional maturity and make her better. Embla is trying to, once again, COMMIT GENOCIDE. Against HIS people! He absolutely does not need to show her kindness, nor does he need to coddle her when HE is the victim! And the audacity to imply that Askr gaining independence and being strong enough to advocate for his worth and safety is “selfish”? (Speaking to the anon whose take was a response to mine). That is wrong on so many levels.
Most of the time, nonwhite characters in media have to be paragons to be even remotely palatable to the fan base. But white characters (most often men, but sometimes women) are often given more excuses for their actions. They can be war criminals. They can be violent and petty and make mistakes. And it is absolutely problematic to DEMAND Askr be there for Embla at all times at the expense of his own mental health. What about his suffering? His pain of being cast aside? The stress he must feel over having to be perfect because if he makes ONE mistake, she snaps? Because that’s what happened! One little misunderstanding and she was lost to her own wickedness. That is frightening to think about, and shows she really was never good. She just had the privilege of being surrounded by goodness and allowed to hide in its light. It is unbelievably disgusting and unrealistic to expect someone to be unfailingly devoted as they are repeatedly broken down by someone who supposedly “loves” them.

Hi I read your tags what character do you think it'd be fun for Travis to play if Chet dies in his sleep?? I kinda want Hardcore Caster Travis because Travis as a player with an abundance of spell slots is a delicious idea but idrk!
also throwing in this which I got in the interim!
Tumblr media
[id: anonymous ask reading
I have a question/wondering about if (when if statistics have any thing to say about it) Chet dies what class you think Travis will play? Or your thoughts on type of character you would like to see?
(I myself kinda hope he goes for another high int character - maybe a gunslinger would be interesting to continue to balance out the martial classes with spell casters?
But I do think it would be interesting to add another cleric to the party as well. Maybe cleric of the Moon Domain from Taldorei reborn?)]
-----
Ok so Travis is, as I've discussed, on the (noncomprehensive) Emily, Aabria, Lou list of "I trust you implicitly with whatever character you make and even if I'm not initially won over I believe in you." With that said: I agree he should stick to high intelligence in terms of party composition. I also, anon #2, have really liked the idea of cleric. I know a two-cleric party is a lot to DM for but also I think Matt enjoys being able to really throw something big at the party, and while there are two full healers, Fearne is often better used in high damage and FCG's subclass does still make it difficult, plus were Chet to die that would be the loss of one of your three tanks. However, I think moon domain is a little too on the nose for this campaign. I actually would love to see a high-intelligence knowledge cleric: this would grant expertise in some of those key intelligence checks, and while it's far off, the level 17 ability is not unlike grim psychometry, which has already been an absolute delight to watch. I happen to think the read thoughts ability is obviously redundant in this part...but it also is, to be fair, fucking funny to have. Erathis or Corellon for the deity perhaps? I also happen to love twilight cleric just conceptually and for being incredibly powerful, AND for fixing the whole "no darkvision in the party" problem.
Other options: Eldritch knight, though that might be a little similar to Fjord in some of the flavors; or a wizard who is not too much of a glass cannon. Travis is on the short list of people for whom bladesinger would not make me roll my eyes because I think he could actually manage it (as Emily did so well in ACOFAF). I also would love to see another ranger on CR; the class has come a long way since Vex dealt with the unfortunate limitations of Beastmaster, I feel like a Horizon Walker would be attuned to the Moon Bullshit in a way that is different than anyone else in the party, and like...dump charisma and be smart to address the INT needs, and have twin scimitars like Drizzt except with less goofy names to address the Travis Needs Melee To Live (and He's Valid) needs. Really what I think is important is smart, not too glass cannon, low charisma for comedic purposes, and also I think playing someone younger and more obviously shippable even by cowardly people would create chaos in the party and the fandom in ways I would find highly amusing.

for the ask thing->😅🥺🤡😈🛒✨️💌❌️👀🧠🤲✅️ (for the 🧠 i choose cas hehe)
omg thats so many but 👉👈 yk
mwuah <3
I just spent a FULL half hour trying to find the post this was from and I finally found it by remembering I reblogged it from @castielsprostate and getting to August 6th from another post and scrolling down to august 4th from there. Anon if you're out there....my answer is crossing time and space to reach you....also BIG KISS FOR Y9OU AS WELL
😅 What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?
I'll be honest, I think this one, ineffable husbands observatory date was kinda cowardly haha. In it I pretend like Aziraphale wasn't fully about to shoot a kid. I think I should have let that be a true moment of darkness! These days I wouldn't shy away from it I think.
🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?
uargh. 'I don't need to be taken care of' 'but I WANT to take care of you'. Kills me dead every time.
🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?
haha almost every fic I write has something that made me laugh!! An undervalued one, from my Jo/Bela heist fic:
She doesn’t get like this. She doesn’t get distracted on the job, she doesn’t get flustered over sly little compliments, she doesn’t want to be seen. Why did it have to be here, now, on her biggest job in years? “You know,” Jo says, unperturbed by the mental anguish she was causing, biting off the end of the thread with her teeth, “since we’re partners, we should get matching balaclavas.” And why was it for someone so stupid? “All balaclavas are matching,” Bela says, and Jo smiles up at her cheekily, proving she only said it to wind her up, “and we’re not partners.” “We’re totally partners! We look out for each other.” “No. You’re not on my level. It’d be like saying Michelangelo and his finger painting niece were partners.” “Fine,” Jo huffs, “accomplices?” “You are an accessory at best.” “Yeah? Do I rate above or below your shoes?” Bela pretends to think about it. “So far my shoes have done more quality work for this shindig than you, so I suppose the jury is still out.”
Actually you know what. Fuck it I'm doing 2. You can't stop me!!!! This is from my Cas timetravels to the episode Faith fic
"What year is it?" Cas asks suddenly. "Uh." Maybe he shouldn't tell him. That's one of those concussion questions, right? He doesn't want to fuck up his examination. "What year do you think it is?" "It is certainly within the AD range," Cas says, deadpan, and he doesn't laugh when Dean does but his frown does lighten. He looks expectant, so Dean caves: "It's 2005. The year of the rooster. Or, as I like to say, the year of -" "Cock. Yes. I've heard it before."
😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?
hmmmmm! There is one in one that I'm writing right now in fact! This is Endverse Cas, talking to Dean about Endverse Dean:
"Did you know," Cas says, leaning right into Dean's space, the smell of weed and dank sweat rolling off him, "He trusts me. He needs me. He - what did he say? Oh, yeah. He couldn't do this without me."
A cruel play on the Crypt scene - "I need you". Maybe people won't pick up on it but I have the intention of being mean.
🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
Themes....you ask me of themes...would you ask mozart of staves...jdsavbhfav I'm kidding about. I love themes my book club and anyone I've beta'd for will tell you!! In my own work, I like animal imageryyyyy. Dean is a dog (and sometimes rabbits), Bela is a rabbit, Jo is a horse, Cas is birds. I like scenes characters talking around things but both understanding what they mean. OR, the inverse, when one of them THINKS they're being perfectly clear and straightforward and the other one is coming to very different conclusions. And grief. And absence highlighted by an intense focus on objects. I think that last one is most clearly done in The Aftermath, Time/Body Problem and Brought to the Flame. I OBVIOUSLY love make-out scenes lol. Scenery used as character! It is the only way I am able to write scenery!!
✨ Give you and your writing a compliment. Go on now. You know you deserve it. 😉
I am...good at weaving scenes together. Dialogue and exposition and jokes and deeper character moments. Pacing, I think, would be the word. I heard some advice from the guy who wrote Not Going Out: if you end a scene high, the next "should" (usually) start or become low, and vice versa. We did it! We fucked it up. Things are looking fucking bleak. There's a moment of hope!! Peaks and valleys yknow. See here I am deflecting my compliment to someone else's advice ajkfsjbv. I write good original characters who don't distract from the narrative, how about that!! And titles! You didn't ask but my favourite titleset I've ever done is my [aged up]Bela/Edward kinky series Frames of Mind. The first is called Metacognition because Edward is thinking about Bela thinking about him (and metacognition means thinking about thought) and the second is Projection because Edward is mentally prjecting himself into the threesome Bela is in. And Bela's putting him in there too, in her mind. Also, I do a lot of stupid jokes in these, I was seriously debating a third in that catagory. I suggest that Edward turned one of his pet mice into a vampire, and that Bela's being lusted after by a swamp monster. <3
💌 How do you feel about comments and feedback?
I LOVE THEM. I LOVE I AM IN LOVE. To any person who has ever commented on anything I've ever written (apart from that one bot lol) I kiss you I kiss you I kiss you a thousand times. Knowing that people took the time to read my works and say what they thought, even if they thought "<3" or "nice"...it's so kind. Also every beta reader I've ever had, I keep their joyful comments active so I can reread them over and over <3 shout out to @sonorousangels @eboyeasy @homoangel @sweater-soup and @mrcowboydeanwinchester <3
❌ What's a trope you will never write?
Never, huh....? Hm. I like a lot of things, I think there's a way to make pretty much any trope interesting if you think about it long enough. I think it's unlikely that I'd ever write something with a matchmaker!character, like, get a life? lol. It's often foisted on Sam or ANY nearby female character. BUT I do think you could make that interesting potentially, if that character was the protagonist. Like, why ARE you so obsessed with them, why DON'T you have anything going on in your own life, how can you break out of that and come to see your friends as people again instead of dollies?
btw, complete tangent, one time at [redacted] I met an old lady and told her my name and she said. "You have the same name as my dolly." Not even, the doll has the same name as ME. I have the same name as HER DOLL. Horror movie type interaction.
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
Perhaps I should have preread these questions and mentioned my smoking sequel here lmao. OH WELL. I will talk about another!
I am working on a Cas timetravel fic wherein (late-)s4 Castiel (who is considering rebellion) gets pulled to...s15? ish? And Dean is NOT coping well with having a younger Castiel who doesn't have anything to resent Dean for yet, and Cas is trying to reconcile his jealousy and his resurfaced guilt (this Castiel hasn't done any of the things Cas despises himself for yet, and he's lonely and untethered, but he's also not as much of a Person and Cas can only take so much Angel Mode Bluntness and he misses Jack while Castiel it there). Also. Well the Castiels do make out but I mean. It's my fic. It was sort of inevitable.
🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them. Castiel.
Cas is the tv angel!!!!!! He doesn't read very much, he watches tellyvision! He watches old sit coms at any available moment, and he does NOT get the MAJORITY of the jokes but he adores the laugh track and I love him. And, king of sick burns that he is, he'd pick up some good ones. I think if he was explaining it, perhaps to Dean, he'd say something like that he likes that "Humans have, with every theme and concept available to them, so often chosen to imagine a softer world, where the consequences are limited to a punchline, and there is a constant unity and connection with others. When you laugh at Niles Crane, you laugh with every other being in that room at that time. A snapshot of the past, with its defined limits, to a timeless creature such as myself, it has a remarkable beauty. Also, I enjoy the antics of the little dog."
🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip?
I REALLY should have read ahead haha. This is frommmmm I can't really say what it's about without spoilers. Um. It is a plot fic wherein Cas returns post-empty and Dean is a little TOO happy about it. This is from the opening:
Cas wakes up in a car wreck. He pushes himself up from the smoking bonnet gingerly, and hears the crumple of metal below. He'd made an impact; a whole stack of rusted vehicals have been crushed beneath him, threatening the integrity of the surrounding towers of scrap. He doesn't remember the fall. The last thing he remembers is - Dean, the confession, the debt being paid. There's a pervasive ache in his muscles and his heart is beating at a sickening pace, as if he'd been running for a long time. It's possible that he had been. [...] "Dean?" Cas asks, and gets an answer he didn't expect. There's a tired sigh on the other end of the line, and Sam's voice says: "Who is this helping?" "Sam, it's me. I'm at Bobby's. I need someone to pick me up." A faint, plastic-y creak. Cas imagines Sam pressing his flip phone against his forehead. His voice is distant, mournful, "Can't you guys leave any bodies in the ground?" "Sam?" "It's not going to work. I wish you'd all stop trying." Closer, now, louder, "Just leave him alone, you hear me? You better leave him the hell alone!" The line goes dead. Cas tries calling again, but even with his Grace it doesn't go through...
✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?
Haha, Meg. Okay, serious answer...............whenever I do sex it always turns romantic and sweet at some point. Even the "rough sex" in my jo/bela heist, it IS rough sex and then ALSO Jo says "You're really special and I like you". In my kinky vampire rimming fic! When they just reference having other sex offscreen in my struck by lighting blowjob fic! The closest I get to not going crazy romantic is in the pseudo-sex scenes of my grace feeding fic but even then it's echoed in a sweetie darling honeypie way later.
I think I may deep down be a romantic at heart.
Uah the end!! Did you know I have posted 54 fics to Ao3??? That's wild. 39 of them are for the CW's Supernatural. Thank you sooooooo much for asking meeee as you can see I love talking about my own writing. I put a lot of thought into it!

cw more abuse and bad times <3
modern au - hey hey, what if. oscar and morris’ pa coming to one of their fights.
he usually likes to forget they exist, and they do the same, but he can’t help but see them crop up more and more over the years - they’re public figures, rising in notoriety. he sees the occasional article, sees them on magazine covers and ads, sees their fights advertised in the betting shops he frequents. sees that they always win. and then he sees a poster that they’re fighting in soho, where he still lives. and usually he’d never seek them out, doesn’t care nearly enough, but it’s just too tempting.
he walks in late and he’s just a single face amongst the crowd, but morris catches sight of him in his peripheral - instinct, like a prey animal - while he’s circling his opponent in the ring. he’s instantly so distracted he takes a brutal hit from his opponent and is levelled to the ground, and it’s almost like his papa hitting him all over again.
(oscar can’t see their pa from where he’s stood. he has no idea what’s wrong.)
OHOHOHOHOHOHOOOOO
So, something I haven't told y'all about the modern au
The Delancey's pa does actually find them one day.
Also mystery anon asking for Medda angst, tell me something
Are you sure you want that?
*
Walter smirked down at him as Morris fell to the ground, watching Oscar try and scramble into the ring when he doesn't get up. Weak. Pathetic. Just like he'd always known. He sat down in his seat, watching the events unfold.
The round stopped when Morris doesn't get back up. A timeout until they can use the smelling salts to wake him. He watched Oscar run to Morris, leaning over to whisper to him. He could almost hear the whimpering voice from a lifetime ago.
Cowardly boy.
He smirked again as Oscar's eyes searched the crowd, their eyes locking. He could feel the glare received as he tipped his hat at his older son.
Oscar moved to speak to the referee, and the man in the ring listened and nodded as he spoke.
Walter stood. Oscar's fight wasn't for another hour or so. He'd go speak with them between fights, and he knew Morris would never continue. Boy couldn't ever look past his fears.
He started down the steps as the referee announced that Morris was forfeiting the fight. What a surprise that was.
He made his way out the back door, seeing no security on the way. He supposed they were around the perimeter more than back here.
It didn't matter. They'd let him pass anyhow, wouldn't they? He was their father, for Christ's sake.
He found their changing room and pushed open the door, hearing a dog bark before even entering fully.
Not that he ever got the chance to.
A weight slammed against the door, and Oscar's glaring eye found him through the crack in the door.
"You ain't welcome in here. You ain't comin' in. We already got security comin' for ya," he sneered, pushing harder, trying to close the door in Walter's face.
"I'm welcome anywhere I please, boy, don't you- Morris, you cut that wailin' out or I swear!" Walter's gaze shifted behind Oscar, toward the open bathroom door.
He could hear the snap of Morris's teeth as his mouth closed, that old satisfaction creeping back into his bones.
Oscar was unmoving against the door, though the rage in his eyes built with each passing moment.
"Why you look so mad, boy? I made you into this. I built you up from nothin'! Hell you still is nothin'!" Walter cackled. "Bet you can't afford all them fancy clothes you flauntin' round in."
"It ain't none of your business, Pa," Oscar growled out, still unrelenting.
"I seen them posts. How mad you got at that boy. You ain't told nobody," it wasn't a question, Walter knew they hadn't. "You know silence don't come free, boy."
He watched his son's sneer grow, and finally the door budged.
Walter stepped up, smirking. "Glad you come to yo-"
He sucked in a breath as Oscar's head slammed into his.
"Don't you ever come here threatenin' us. We ain't no scrawny little boys no more, pa," Oscar stood between Walter and the bathroom.
"Wonder if both of you feel that way. Don't you, Morris?"
He heard another faint whimper from the bathroom.
"Leave him alone, pa. He ain't done nothin'."
"I've never agreed with you more, Oscar," Walter held a hand to his nose as he stepped back outside. "Sleep on it. Let me know by tomorrow."
"The answer is no," Oscar snapped.
"Then, I guess you ain't got nothin' to think about," Walter shrugged. "Like, perhaps the fact that it would ensure you never see me again."
He could see the boy working it over in his head.
"Ahhhh... There it is..." he sighed. "Like I said. Sleep on it."
Walter turned back to the hallway as a woman stormed down it.
Oscar groaned behind him as she rounded the corner, snapping out a short "What?"
The woman raised a brow at him. "Don't take that tone with me, Oscar Delancey. How is he?"
Walter raised a brow at him. "Delancey? That what you been tellin' folks?"
Medda turned toward Walter, eyebrows high. "Are you saying that isn't their name?"
He scoffed. " 'Course it ain't. They always been Williams."
"Oscar, who is this?"
"I'm their-"
"Excuse me, sir, I didn't ask you," her hand went up, and her eyes never left Oscar. She needed to know if he wanted her to do something about this man.
"Medda, this 's our pa."
"Your pa?" Walter didn't think her eyebrows could go any higher. "Mhm."
She turned to him, and Walter gave her a smile.
"Alright then, sir, let me speak to you. Just a second," she stepped closer to him. "I just want to get some things straight."
Her hand came down hard against his cheek, and Walter was bent over, clutching his cheek.
Oscar let out a tense laugh at the sight, caught halfway between fear and awe. He'd never ever seen Medda get violent before. Usually gentle and caring, and everything their pa never had been.
"Don't you ever come near my boys again! Do you understand me?" Her voice rose in a way that Oscar could never have dreamt. The way that made him cover his ears. "You have no right to even come close! And if you don't get to steppin' now, I'm callin' security and they gonna carry you right on out of here."
She stepped closer, glaring up at him. "So, Mister Williams, you gettin' outta here your way? Or mine?"
Oscar watched as pa glared up at him, but turned as Doggy barked, a warning that Morris was on the move.
He peeked around the doorway. "Mama?
" 'S that you?" His voice was quiet, but he took a few steps closer. Oscar tried to stop him as Morris ducked out of the door, Doggy right behind him.
"Wait, Mo-"
"Mama!" Morris cried as he dashed toward her, hugging her tight, still shrinking away from pa.
Walter's eyes went wide, and his face contorted with rage. "That ain't your ma! She ain't nothin'!"
Medda held just as tight as Morris, kissing his head and brushing her hand through his curls.
She wheeled around to give Walter another verbal beatdown, but she never got the chance.
Oscar had stormed over, and swung.
"She been more a ma then you ever was a pa!" He kept swinging, letting out years upon years of heartbreak and panic and fear.
Oscar was done being afraid.
He was done letting Morris be afraid.
It wasn't until a hand landed on his shoulder that he stopped. His hands were bloody and his knuckles ached-it'd been so long since he'd fought bare knuckled- but he felt so good.
"Oscar, dear... Go call security. They'll escort him out of here," she didn't say it, but Oscar knew what she was giving him time to do.
He had to get cleaned up before Morris saw him.

Hahaha I'm glad you liked my belly rub prompt! Your fic was even better than I could have imagined!! Thank you!! If I could request another, I wish you would write an InuKag fic where Inuyasha gets kidnapped for once and Kagome saves him! <3
Anon your mind 🤯
Also sorry for the wait on this! And to the other people still waiting. I got WAY more of these requests than I ever imagined I would (this is a good thing, I’m having so much fun) so it’s taking me longer to get through them cuz I want to do them justice! That said, here is your reverse rescue 😎
Idk if Succubi are a thing in Japan and I wasn’t gonna look it up so please just roll with it 😎🤣
Reverse Curse
It was dark.
It was cold.
Her breath puffed in front of her face with every exhale and her fingers were like ice, but she pressed ever onward through the dark, toward the soft glow of a fire in the clearing beyond the stretch of woods she was creeping quietly through.
She hid just inside the tree line and peeked through to the camp, eyes sweeping over the large, flickering fire, the cage full of several men, and the beautiful, shimmering woman sitting across from it, fluffing her hair in an ornate hand mirror.
Kagome’s eyes narrowed in searing anger. That was the woman she’d insisted Inuyasha allow to join them, at least for a while. Sango, Miroku and Shippo were visiting the slayer village so they were on their own, and this woman had presented herself as a lost and frightened damsel in need of protection and guidance.
Inuyasha had resisted, declaring that she smelled weird, and Kagome had sat him for being rude.
But he’d been right.
When the sun had gone down the woman had transformed into a being of blinding beauty, shackled Inuyasha with yoki binding chains, and flew into the distance.
A succubus.
She’d been a succubus the whole time.
Her hands tightened into fists as she once more eyed the camp. All the men in the cage were reaching through the bars toward the succubus, calling for her, begging for her attention.
All but Inuyasha.
He sat huddled up, shoulders hunched defensively, glaring at his captor with golden eyes burning with hatred and rage.
Relief dulled the edges of anger enough for her to slow her thundering heart and mind, and with one last fortifying breath she tightened her grip on her bow and stepped into the clearing.
Immediately she felt several sets of eyes on her, but she kept her chin up and her attention focused on the object of her ire.
Beautiful iridescent eyes leveled her with a bland gaze, the subtlest shade of a smirk tilting the corners of a painted mouth, and then a musical voice spoke, tone coated with derision.
“What do you want, child?”
Kagome felt her eyes twitch at being called a child; three years she’d been trekking through this feudal hellscape looking for a cowardly spider, she was as far from a child someone her age could get. But she squared her shoulders and straightened her spine, pointing over at Inuyasha without breaking eye contact.
“You will release him to me at once.”
“And why should I do such a thing?” The succubus asked, voice lilted with amusement.
“Because…. Because…” she faltered, cheeks beginning to burn in embarrassment, but Inuyasha’s well-being hung in the balance, and she would not fail him. “Because that man is mine.”
The succubus threw her head back and laughed, an enchanting sound that danced around the camp, once more snaring the attention of the caged men.
“Oh please, I could easily tell he was untouched and unclaimed. A free agent, up for grabs. And he’s in possession of yoki. Do you know how much energy I get from beings with yoki? I wouldn’t dream of passing him up.”
“Then you leave me no choice.” Kagome replied, lifting her bow, knocking an arrow, and aiming it right at the Succubus’s heart, tip blazing in a blinding ball of pure reiki.
The Succubus’s eyes widened as the hair on her arms began to singe, and then her long, pale hair floated as her own yoki began to swirl in defense.
“You imagine you could please him then? That after receiving the promise of me he would turn back to you? Are you delusional? Put your weapon down and leave with your dignity.”
Kagome grinned even as her confidence faltered just a little.
So much had been settled between her and Inuyasha in the years they’d traveled together, and she knew most of what the succubus said was false; but she was still a young girl who’s romance was caught in limbo by necessity, and so the words chafed all the same.
Still, no matter how she felt about it, Inuyasha needed her, and she wouldn’t be manipulated into letting him stay her prisoner.
“Oh, I know I can please him better. You don’t know him at all.” She heard Inuyasha choke from his place in the cage, and her cheeks burned brighter.
The Succubus’s expression darkened further, and she lifted one hand to gather up a ball of energy. She crouched and then pounced, her anger making her forget the dangerous point of reiki aimed right at her heart.
Between one moment and the next, the sparkling woman was reduced to sparkling ash, and her magical hold on all the men vanished with her.
Confused murmurings followed, and with the end of her spell came the return of Inuyasha’s yoki. He made quick work of the cage, scooped Kagome up, and leapt into the air.
She snuggled against his chest, relief at his safety thrumming through her, quieting the adrenaline she’d been running on, making her lids grow heavy with exhaustion.
Before sleep claimed her, she felt Inuyasha press his lips to the hair at the top of her head, and his voice ghosted through the strands.
“Thank you Kagome.”

What is everyone's greatest fears and insecurities? (I promise this isn't bully anon and I have no ill intent.)
Going for the big guns uh? Buckle in then, let's see what kind of ammo the Fractos has to work with:
Henry Stein - His anger issues. Henry's childhood and adulthood were fairly turbulent because he's prone to getting fits of rage (an issue that was exacerbated when he was drafted to fight in the second world war). There's never been a moment in his life where he wasn't aware that he can hurt people very easily, and it scares him that this is possibly all he's good at. It's why drawing and gardening meant so much to him... For once he could make something good instead of destroying it...
Sammy Lawrence - That he's a weak-willed follower rather than the master of his own fate, untrustworthy and insignificant. His role as the Prophet disgusts him because it's everything he strived not to be, and the hypocrisy of it all left him questioning his identity and sense of self. What is he if he's not Samuel Lawrence Jr? Can he go back to calling himself that? Or is that just another name he can't ever return to ever again...? Just... Who is he?
Jack Fain - Being unable to protect himself and others, no matter how much he tried to be there for his friends. The sense of insignificance and powerlessness left him fearing that every single one if his efforts is in vain.
Susie Campbell - That she's not good enough. Always second best to someone more talented and beautiful than her. That no matter how hard she tried, she should have just given up and let the world step all over her.
Norman Polk - That he's nothing more than an unwanted and unlovable creepy brute. As a tall bulky man of his age and background, Norman's always had a lot against him. But, even when snapping at people or fighting back just as hard was warranted, he never let himself stoop so low. Becoming the out of control and monstrous Projectionist wounded him deeply...
Allison Pendle - That deep down she's just as selfish and careless as Joey. They got along fine because they had a level of understanding about certain arts they were mutually interested in... Maybe that means she's rotten like him. A danger to others if she ever becomes as jaded as he did...
Thomas Connor - The worst part is the guilt. If he hadn't been complacent to Joey's will to begin with, none of this would have happened. He's stuck in a cycle of grief and what ifs, afraid that he's damned everyone because of his own hubris as a prideful engineer.
Shawn Flynn - His willful ignorance will haunt him forever. He knew something was wrong, but he'd rather ignore it and make a quick buck than actually stop to think. It only struck him that he was in too deep when Grant began to deteriorate, and by then it was too late to stop. If only he hadn't been so selfish and cocky...
Grant Cohen - That he deserves all of this in some twisted terrible way. His life has always been one string of misfortunes after another. Maybe he was a bad person in another life. Maybe he didn't show enough people kindness in this one... Maybe he's just destined to suffer. He's always been and always will be unable to save himself...
Buddy Lewek - That he's too weak and cowardly to be of any help. Everyone has been doing so much to keep him safe, and he doesn't have the strength to do the same for them. He feels guilty about it, but he just... He just can't... He's afraid and he wants to go home. He wants his mom... And he feels bad that he's this pathetic when his friends need him most.
Abby Lambert - Regret, guilt, sorrow... She knows them all to well. Most of all she knows hatred the best... She hates that she was so bad a judge of character that she couldn't see just how bad things got. Just how far Joey would take it... She was blind to it all because she considered him a friend, and she'll never forgive herself or him for it...
Doc Hackenbush - That he didn't leave when he could have. He was aware and against the results of the experiments, but he was also curious. Morbidly so. He could have helped stop all of this before it got to this point... But instead chose to stay quiet. A choice that will haunt him forever.
Bertrum Piedmont - That he'd been too proud to realize he was digging himself and Lacie an early grave. What hurts most now isn't even the state he's in... It's that he damned his closest friend to this terrible fate as well...
Lacie Benton - That she couldn't convince Bertrum to not accept a contract with Joey. She knew something was off with the man... She just couldn't imagine this being how it ended... Feels like she failed her dearest friend.
Emma LaMonte - Her biggest regret is not telling her family how much she appreciated them. She'd been a stuck-up unpleasant and difficult lady all her life and now... She fears she'll never have a chance to make amends.
Detective Sinclair - That he failed Joey in some way, thus made him more prone to becoming less interested in being a law abiding citizen. He knows that something broke when he failed that case... That somehow he taught that young and impressionable puppy-eyed boy that justice only matters as long as you're caught... He's a failure of a detective and all of this is his fault...
The Ink Demon - That his imperfections are the reason everyone is suffering. That he's not good enough to deserve to live. That he's a monster that taints everything he touches... The list goes on...

hi! i can’t believe i’m doing this, being cowardly and asking anonymously, which is so not like me, but i’m really not sure about the feedback i’ll get from this ask so here goes. i really hope you don’t take this the wrong way. i just don’t know who else to ask and among the authors i see in tumblr you’re the one with all the headcanons and looks into their characterization and all huhu.
i just noticed that in the majority of angst(y) aus, sol (a) is always the one who is constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop, prioritising her family over hwi/not considering him her family, or ends up pushing hwi away and then the relationship turns out badly, and by badly meaning it ends. i understand the first one since that’s really been the case for the majority of what we get a glimpse of in her life. but i don’t understand the others and i want to understand because so many people are writing it that way, and i interpret it as: they see something i don’t. maybe there are things about her character that i can’t or perceive differently or my 21 year old brain lacks the wisdom for that i miss how it progresses to that. but since i’m too shy to interact with anyone i don’t have anyone to compare notes with, huhu. i don’t really understand the others them because:
she basically said she’ll root for him in his uncle’s place which isn’t something to be taken lightly, she knows the gravity of what she said and more than anyone else she knows what it feels like to have family leave you behind/alone and all (i hope u get what i mean here and that this is sufficient, it’ll get even longer if i add more explaining)
she has high EQ, she basically hit all the right spots in the before they uploaded the video part (if it wasn’t for assemblyman ko…) and this scene is also another example of number 3 where she ends up opening herself up to him again
she knows he understands her in a sense and has this certain level of trust towards him, it can be seen on how she told him about dan but not about anyone else, and even if hwi didn’t show up at that time it can also be seen that she somehow opens up to him in the drinking water as if its booze scene. I guess i just observed that in the instances where she takes the first step and tries to push him away, she rather ends up opening herself up to him.
hwi also has high EQ or at least towards sol (lmao) and combined with his high IQ and the fact that he understands her contributes to number 3
and not all of these scenes can be considered as “working out alright and happily and greatly” since there are challenges in them but somehow it never reaches to that degree :<
as i said i want to compare notes because i understand only a portion of where its based on. i’m not saying its ooc since there is a bedrock on where that could possibly come from, it’s just that i can’t comprehend how its probable to reach up to that degree based on my understanding of their characters huhu. if it is a writer’s thing though perhaps it’s most likely why i don’t understand since all i’ve ever done my whole life is read and not really the type that writes. huhu.
i’m really not complaining or insulting or saying anything bad about or offending the fics, honestly huhu. i just want to learn more about her character and i’m bad at saying things not bluntly :< i tried my best :<
also, if you’re not comfortable with answering posting the answer publicly but still considering to or want to answer my question (i’ve used tumblr for so long but don’t know how asks work) if know a way to kinda hide the ask but answer it and say you want me to dm you about it, i can :<
hello anon! thank you for this analysis that while lengthy, does give me a bit of insight!
I think all your points are valid! about why she’s the one that is the start of the angst, why she pushes him away and not the other way around! I completely get your meaning, and honestly i do see the things you are seeing too!
this is just my personal take on this and how i view sol as being the ‘start’ of angst, why aren’t there fics on joon being the ‘start’ of angst and all, so please do take this with a pinch of salt!
I’ve personally not written any headcanons/fics that are mainly angst centred yet, so I would have to draw on my understanding of sol and joonhwi as characters from law school.
for sol, she’s a big emotional girl. you could see from the way she argues in class, with her friends, with how she reacts all the time. she rides on emotions and uses her heart a little more than her brain. like the bad fama case, she couldn’t give up cause she was emotional about it. like you said, she has a high EQ!
a possible reason to the angst on her part is due to the emotions as well. being someone that follows her heart so closely, she’s easily affected by the people around her and swayed easily. it would make a little more sense for the angst to derive from her, maybe from feeling that she lacks the love for joon. or maybe, a certain incident and she breaks it off.
one other reason is her upbringing. we know that she has biological father that is different from her stepfather. we also know that it is implied that her biological father is not present in her life, and her stepfather is abusive to her mother. as such, this must have been hard on her. imagine growing up in a family far from perfect, would one believe in love? many cases, some say no. they have never seen a healthy relationship before, much less seen one grow in their eyes from young till adulthood. this is the same for sol too. she didn’t see a perfect family, she saw a broken family, no father figure and her mother who endured abuse. this ultimately might make sol think “why is there a need for love? will I end up like my parents? is joon going to leave me, like my biological father did?” it’s undeniable that she might have these thoughts in her mind. thus, it’s a more common catalyst of angst, in a breakup thinking she’s not good enough, or she’s not ready, or undeserving.
as such, most writers might maybe find it easier to draw on this aspect of sol as the angst starter. a short example of this would be in my ongoing “the fairytale you never had (would you believe again?)” fic and in my oneshots “worthy” !
however, I do wonder, “why isn’t joonhwi the one with angst? is sol the only messy one here?” quickly, I thought back to most of the scenes of joonhwi when he is troubled, confused or any sign of him showing emotions.
joonhwi can be an angst starter, but I think it drawn on less since it’s so hard to draw on. from the base line, we know he’s smart. we know he’s probably rich. we know his uncle is the closest person to him. we know his parents died. but all these are just facts, no emotions. in everything that joonhwi does, he does it out of compliance, law abiding, or of a moral code. very few instances does he act of emotions or show a raw side of him.
the only times we could see it would be when he’s confronting his uncle, or the moments with sol later on in the show. he rarely shows emotions, and it’s hard to understand him or his troubles when he doesn’t show many emotions and we don’t know enough about his life. we know he looks up to his uncle, but it’s impossible for him, an orphan, to not miss his parents or have his missing parents not play a role in his development.
thus, his angst would most probably derive from “can i trust her, even after this?”, “is she lying, to cover up something?”, “is sol really the sol I believe in? or was it an entire lie?” his angst would come from one of trust and not from emotions.
i would really love to give a full analysis, but im no good with this. you can always dm me on Twitter or tumblr and we can always have a chat on this! would love to draw from my fellow writer friends to pitch in on this too, since they are honestly better at the analysis. im just a free writer!
thank you anon for you query! do dm me on tumblr/twitter (whichever is comfortable!) and we can discuss more! i’ll keep your identity secret, no worries!

I'm reading through some of your meta and in the one about WWX possibly weaponizing MXY being gay you mention how MXY being a molester was fabricated. I agree with this but I always thought that this was a personal headcanon and didn't realize that it was supported by canon. If you're up to it, please may you point me to where it might say this?
Hi anon,
I’m sad to report that there isn’t a scene where JGY admits before a jury that yes, it was I, I fabricated the claims against Mo Xuanyu, who was a hapless victim all along! which would be convenient for winning arguments quickly and easily. But, I promise you, so long as we read between the lines, it is undeniable that we are meant to understand by the end of the novel that the accusations leveled against Mo Xuanyu were baseless and that he was another victim of JGY’s (and NHS’s!) machinations.
Beyond a purely thematic reading of the novel, which would  therefore highlight  that the theme around how public opinion is willing to believe accusations and condemn without material or sensible proof (particularly so when it comes to people who do not hold a lot of power within society, those who are the Other) is one that is repeated across many characters, the narrative reveal of JGY’s true personality and actions indicates that the accusations against MXY were just  another ploy of JGY’s.
At the very beginning of the novel, when WWX looks through Mo Xuanyu’s things, he’s able to piece out together that Mo Xuanyu’s “lunacy” seemed rooted in a deep and paranoiac fear of.... something. MXY didn’t just get thrown out of the Sect in disgrace--something clearly happened to him, or he clearly witnessed something that scared him out of his senses.
“after he returned, he seemed to have gone completely mad—although no one could tell what kind of shock he’d suffered. He had good days and bad ones. It was as if he had been scared witless.” [Chapter 1]
Further into the novel, it is revealed that MXY didn’t actually harass his “peers” but actually only one person: Jin Guangyao. Right after this reveal, we also learn that MXY used to treat JGY with the utmost respect and deference. While Jin Ling seems to misunderstand this past deification of JGY as a side-effect of MXY’s presumed feelings for him, as readers we can see how it actually raises doubts into the claims leveraged against MXY, as it would then seem very out of character for MXY to disrespect JGY by harassing him (especially if one considers that the risks of harassing his powerful half-brother definitely would not outweigh the benefits....).
“Don’t listen to [JGY],” said Wei Wuxian. “Let me tell you—when you grow older, you’ll find out that there are more and more people you want to beat up, but you’ll have to force yourself to get along with them nicely. So, since you’re still young, go beat up all the people you want. At such an age, if you don’t have a few proper fights, your life won’t be complete.”
Jin Ling’s face betrayed faint yearning, yet he still sounded contemptuous, “What are you talking about? Shushu’s advice is for my own good.”
After he spoke, he suddenly remembered that the past Mo Xuanyu had always regarded Jin Guangyao as a deity. He definitely would not have disagreed with Jin Guangyao in any way. Yet, now he was saying not to listen to him. Was it that he really did not hold any improper thoughts toward Jin Guangyao anymore?
(we also learn that Zewu-jun never knew about what supposedly happened, or even who MXY was, which again.....fishy.... JGY what are you hiding...... not mentioning someone harassed you to your bff is one thing, but not introducing him to your half-bro?.... )
Then! Almost right after we learn all this new information, it is also revealed through WWX’s paperman adventures and NMJ’s adventures that JGY is not who he has presented himself to be: he is a master manipulator, who has lied and continues to lie to preserve his position and to eliminate people he perceives as threatening the place he carved for himself in sweat and tears and blood.
At this point, the deal is pretty much sealed: we have an unreliable witness in the man we now know to be able to do incredibly scary and cruel things (a knowledge that will only be reinforced by the end of the novel once NHS’ plan is completed). What actually happened, how MXY went from someone who deified JGY to someone who would need to be sent away in disgrace and scared into silence and compliance, all this is not told to us by the novel. It is possible that JGY might have seen MXY as a potential accomplice to his deeds (like he did his other half-brother, XY) (EDIT: I DREAMED UP THAT XY was one of JGS’s bastard children, please disregard it), or that he might have seen MXY as a potential threat to his position because of they shared a father--honestly, I can see many possibilities here!
Also, it is important to consider that even the claim of MXY’s “lunacy”  is pretty fraught and ambiguous. The novel ends up setting up the idea that MXY’s erratic behaviour was related to him being scared (as we see in the and frustrated at the injustice he received at the hands of both the Jin Sect and his family (for example, this piece of shino meta)
Finally, it’s a good time to remember that even MXY’s sacrifice was not a decision he made on his own: he was once again the victim of a mastermind with much more power and influence than he could ever dream to have. After all, the novel takes pain to explain to us that NHS’s schemes for revenge depended on MXY sacrificing himself (passage under the cut because this post is getting long!)
“Nie-zongzhu,” Wei Wuxian asked again. “I heard that you often travel between the Gusu Lan sect and the Lanling Jin sect, am I right?”
“That’s right.”
“Then did you really not recognize Mo Xuanyu?”
“Ah?” Nie Huaisang’s face twitched slightly.
“I remember that the first time I met you after my soul had been offered into his body, you acted as if you did not recognize me, and even asked Hanguang-jun who I was. Mo Xuanyu was then entangled anyhow with Jin Guangyao during that time* and was able to access even his secret collections, and you often went to find Jin-zongzhu to complain. Even if you and Mo Xuanyu were not familiar with each other, did you really not see him before at all?”
Nie Huaisang scratched his head, saying, “Wei-xiong, Jinlintai is so huge, I can’t possibly recognize everyone, even if I’ve seen them, I can’t remember. Moreover…”
Looking rather awkward, he continued, “You know about Mo Xuanyu’s identity back then, it’s slightly…...the Lanling Jin sect had tried their best to hide it, so it wouldn’t have been surprising if I had never met him before. Even Xichen-ge may not have met him before.”
“Oh, that’s true. Zewu-jun did not know who Mo Xuanyu was either.”
“Right! And what I don’t understand is, even if I had seen Mo Xuanyu before, why would I pretend not to recognize him? Was there such a need?”
Wei Wuxian laughed and replied, “Nothing much, I just thought it strange and was casually asking.
However, he thought, He was simply trying to see whether the ‘Mo Xuanyu’ he met was the real one.
For someone who was said to have been cowardly and weak, where would have Mo Xuanyu gotten the courage to sacrifice himself and offer his soul?
And as for Chifeng-zun’s left hand, why was it discarded? It could not be that Jin Guangyao would accidentally lose it.
Moreover, why was it that it happened to appear right at the Mo family residence, just when Wei Wuxian had been reincarnated, but not somewhere else?
If Chifeng-zun’s body had been buried by the QingheNie sect, would Nie Huaisang, who had always respected his older brother, not notice that his body had disappeared all these years?
Wei Wuxian was inclined to believe an alternative situation.
[...]
As such, [NHS] thought of another person; Mo Xuanyu, who had just been kicked out of the Golden Pavilion.
Perhaps in order to let Mo Xuanyu listen to him, Nie Huaisang had already spoken to him before and heard from an upset and anguished Mo Xuanyu that he had seen one of Jin Guangyao’s scrolls of forbidden spells recording a certain ancient demonic spell. He then took advantage of the Mo Xuanyu, who was then humiliated and bullied by his clan, to persuade him to perform the spell as revenge**.
And which fierce corpse would he summon?
Naturally, he would summon the Yiling Patriarch.
Unable to bear the days of humiliation any longer, Mo Xuanyu finally drew the array, and Nie Huaisang also took the chance to throw out the hot potato that was burning his hand: ChiFeng-Zun’s left arm.
From there on, his plan had begun and he no longer had to spend his own time and energy to find Nie Mingjue’s remaining body, leaving the dangerous and troublesome job to Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. All he had to do was watch their actions closely. [Chapter 109]
*I changed the translation here, which originally said that “Mo Xuanyu was harassing Jin Guangyao” since I find (at least with my limited linguistic skills lmao) that the original is much more ambivalent. The clause is  莫玄羽当年好歹也纠缠过金光瑶, and the use of  好歹 signals to me toward ambivalence, which is further compounded by the fact that the verb  纠缠 does not necessarily translate to harassment. So I doubt that the original intent was to suggest that WWX was saying to NHS: shouldn’t you have known the dude who was harassing JGY? Anyone who knows Chinese more than I do is free to come and correct me if I am completely wrong in my assessment.
**Okay I changed the translation here again because the translation I was working with made it seem as if MXY was motivated by shame? but the original Chinese says  他便怂恿当时饱受族人欺辱的莫玄羽 which to me clearly points to his treatment by the Mo family/clan and to the fact that it was something being done unto him, not a state of mind he had.

Love isn’t a Deus Ex Machina thing, it’s literally the core theme of the series, hence why Love Magic exists
Love Magic is never a concept at any time in the series. It’s only about “Lily Potter’s spell”. But what’s so special about Lily Potter? What’s so great about her? She did the thing any halfway decent mother would do for their child: she gave her life for them. Molly would’ve done it for any of her sons. Narcissa would have done it for Draco. Mrs Granger the nonentity would have done it for her daughter had she not been lobotomized instead. Lily Potter’s sacrifice isn’t anything special. It’s only special because Rowling decided so, because the Plot needed it to be.
Love isn’t a Deus Ex Machina thing? Then how come Quirrel conveniently burned to death at Harry’s hands? How come Harry had to live at Privet Drive because reasons so he could be abused so naive readers like you could feel very sorry for the poor widdle orphan and pat themselves on the back because wow, aren’t you special for feeling sorry for the poor widdle orphan?
And I didn’t misunderstand Harry. I literally explained him to you
If you don’t like him, I don’t care. Just stop giving his uniqueness to other characters
And you literally showed me exactly why you don’t understand him.
Harry’s superpower isn’t teh special uniqueness of his luuuurve, or the absolute pure pureness of his heart, it’s that he has FRIENDS. Friends who’d die for him, friends who’d sacrifice themselves for him, friends who’d do anything for him. THAT’S the power of love, not some bullshit ~special pure pureness of the heart of Harry Christ our lord and savior~. Harry isn’’t unfailingly kind or uniquely loving or whatever the shit. Harry is a run-of-the-mill teenager who has such obscene luck I wouldn’t be surprised to learn he was conceived under the influence of Lucky Potion.
You just showed me you’re a member of the Church of Harry Christ and I’m not interested in joining. Dear God I thought I was too attached to fictional characters but wow am I glad I’m not at your level.
Also one more thing: “tortured” someone?
Sure. A painful stunner is DEF torture (that’s legit all his Crucio did; it acted as a painful stunner. It threw Carrow backwards and hurt him while it did. Crucio isn’t even close to that when performed properly)
............ you... you fucking little hypocrite.
You filthy, lying, little bitch cunt of a fucking hypocrite.
Remember when I said the next person who’d try to lie to me to pity poor wee widdle Hawwy would be sorry? You pathetic little piece of shit. If you’re so in luuurve with your precious cuntfuck of a camera archetype you’d accept EVERYTHING about him, wouldn’t you? Haha, but noooo. “Oh wee poor Hawwy only used a painful stunner :)))))))” you fucking little bitch. Oh you accuse ME of trying to “make Hawwy not special :(((” but you... YOU... Hahahaha sorry everyone. I have a slight aversion to people blatantly trying to gaslight me. You may find me getting a little bit angry if you happen to trod on this trigger of mine.
Let’s see that again shall we? Open your eyes and your chakras, bitch, we’re going for a ride.
“It’s not a case of what you’ll permit, Minerva McGonagall. You time’s over. It’s us what’s in charge here now, and you’ll back me up or you’ll pay the price.” And he spat in her face. Harry pulled the Cloak off himself, raised his wand, and said, “You shouldn’t have done that.” As Amycus spun around, Harry shouted, “Crucio!” The Death Eater was lifted off his feet. He writhed through the air like a drowning man, thrashing and howling in pain, and then, with a crunch and a shattering of glass, he smashed into the front of a bookcase and crumpled, insensible, to the floor. “I see what Bellatrix meant,” said Harry, the blood thundering through his brain, “you need to really mean it.” - Deathly Hallows
If I could reach through my screen to force you to look at the relevant bits, I would. And I’d also slap you in passing. Yknow, just so you think twice before being a stinking fucking hypocrite again in the future.
Now, let’s do some actual literary analysis that isn’t your ~wah hawwy puwe of heawt luuurrrve~ diarrhea you’re still trying to paint my poor innocent blog with.
Now let’s see that PaInFuL sTuNnEr in detail:
He writhed through the air like a drowning man, thrashing and howling in pain
In bold so you can see it very well. Admire the curve of each letter, the angles and the lines. And most of all, interpret the meaning of each and every word. Watch how he’s compared to “a drowning man”, do you know how excruciatingly painful and distressing it is to drown? How the air fills your lungs as you claw desperately for the surface, trying to find something to cling to, anything, the feeling of your lungs filling with this foreign substance you cannot spit back out? The feeling of fading away as all your oxygen is consumed by the futility of your hopeless flailing, your muscles losing their strength, your panic dulling as you slip into unconsciousness and water claims yet another victim...
Of course, drowning people don’t thrash and howl in pain. Because all they’re focused on is trying to BREATHE. But Amycus’ focus isn’t on trying to breathe. Amycus is only focus on Harry’s Crucio and the pain it’s bringing him.
But sure Anon. A pAiNfUl StUnNeR. Fuck you.
and then, with a crunch and a shattering of glass
Now I’m aware Dummywood has made you believe that glass can be traversed easy without any consequences but real glass doesn’t work like that. Real glass takes some force to shatter. Real glass shatters into hundreds of tiny pieces that embed themselves into your flesh and skin, kinda like... oh! Kinda like that glass chandelier that fell on Hermione, once. After she herself was Crucio’d if I remember well. Hmm, by whom exactly, I have it on the tip of my tongue...
“I see what Bellatrix meant,”
Ah yes. By the woman who tortured to insanity Neville’s parents and whom Harry is literally acknowledging as having taught him this particular lesson.
Harry himself is TELLING US HE LISTENED TO BELLATRIX’S ADVICE. ON FUCKING TORTURING PEOPLE. But “a PaInFuL sTuNnEr He’S aN oRpHaN :’‘‘(((((”. Fuck off. Fuck off, Anon. Fuck off and learn to fucking read.
Ah but I got ahead of myself! We’re not even CLOSE to the point!
he smashed into the front of a bookcase and crumpled, insensible, to the floor
So Amycus gets tortured - or, as Anon astutely put it, pAiNfUl StUnNeR - smashes through a sheet of glass, and gets knocked out.
Hmm. Now if Harry just took out a knife and brought it to Carrow’s neck, he’d be worthy of being called Bellatrix’s faithful apprentice.
And now I’m gonna quote one of my Quora answers again because my followers deserve better than to see me completely lose my mind at some anonymous cowardly cunt trying to lie to my fucking face.
On the topic of Harry’s Crucios:
This could mean that Harry is scarily proficient at casting Crucio, that Amycus has low pain tolerance or that he was knocked out when he fell, but regardless of the meaning, IT’S NOT GOOD. EVEN IF IT’S A DEATH EATER, EVEN IF HE PROBABLY DESERVES COMEUPPANCE - IT’S NOT HARRY’S JOB TO GIVE OUT SAID COMEUPPANCE.
(Like, can I please remind everyone that Harry is supposed to be the Jesus Christ of his story? In the Bible we never have Jesus Christ torturing the pharisees or any of those who didn’t believe in him. Just… you’re telling me Jesus “Peace and Love” Christ would torture people… what the hell, Joanne?)
“I see what Bellatrix meant,” said Harry, the blood thundering through his brain, “you need to really mean it.”
…………………….. Um. Harry, what the fuck are you doing???! He’s taken Bellatrix’s advice! He actually relates to the insane sadistic terrorist! He is capable of using a curse that literally requires sadism to work!
(Again, when someone tells me “Jesus Christ”, “sadism” isn’t the first word that would come to my mind.)
At least there’s some sort of reaction. “the blood thundering through his brain”. But that’s a very… nondescriptive reaction. Is it the “adrenaline pumping in my veins” blood? Is it the “holy shit what have I done” blood? Is it the “I could get used to this” blood?
We don’t know. We’ll never know.
Alright, skipping to the part that interests us -
She struggled to pull herself together. “Potter, that was foolish!”
Eh, I’d have said “tactically unsound” (what if Amycus wasn’t knocked out), “monstrous” (that’s Bellatrix’s favourite curse you’re using, Harry), “insane” (re: Bellatrix), but yeah, I guess “foolish” would also cover it.
“He spat at you,” said Harry.
Ever heard of Disproportionate Retribution, Harry? A few fascists regimes all over the world were especially fond of it.
Then I’m skipping over the one thing that causes the most outrage because I’ll go back to it soon, just let me finish with this:
“[…] but don’t you realize — ?” “Yeah, I do,” Harry assured her. Somehow her panic steadied him.
I guess we can imagine that McGee is saying “don’t you realize what you’ve just done?”
Harry “assures” her he realizes. Harry knows. Harry has just used the literal goddamn Torture Curse and he’s totally cool with it. Or, if he was uncool with it, now he’s cool with it. Because “her panic steadied him”. So seeing McGonagall panic makes Harry think “yeah, using Crucio was the right thing to do”.
Well then! Onwards then, Dark Lord Potter! First it’s just one Crucio, then it’s just three, then it’s just one little murder of one lowly little naysayer, then it’s only a little more murder…
And now we’ll go back a smidge, because how are we supposed to react?
How are we supposed to reconcile the idea of Harry, who’s supposed to save us all through his Power of Love, with the Harry that has just tortured a man into inconsciousness?
Even if that man was a Death Eater, Harry is supposed to be the Christ-like figure. He’s supposed to be love and forgiveness incarnate. Heck, not a hundred pages later he’ll offer forgiveness to freaking Voldemort! He forgives Draco Malfoy, he forgives Albus Dumbledore, he forgives Severus Snape!
So how do we reconcile Harry Potter The Forgiver with Harry Potter The Torturer? Tell us, O Author! Tell us how to navigate the murky, twisted depths of human morality!!
“Potter, I — that was very — very gallant of you — […]”
…………………
………………………………………………
That was… gallant?
Gallant?
Wait, doesn’t gallantry imply some form of honor?
As in, not taking your opponent by surprise -
Harry pulled the Cloak off himself, raised his wand…
As in, facing your opponent head-on instead of hitting them in the back -
As Amycus spun around, Harry shouted…
As in, not torturing your opponent???
He writhed through the air like a drowning man, thrashing and howling in pain
That’s… unless the definition has changed, nothing about this is gallant…
Let me just -
(of a man) polite and kind towards women, especially when in public
showing no fear of dangerous or difficult things
Alright, so, Amycus isn’t a woman, so Harry can’t, by definition, be “gallant” to him.
Still, being “polite and kind” to a woman didn’t involve “torturing someone who disrespected her”, last time I checked. Punching an asshole harrassing her, definitely *pats Ron*, but torturing that asshole… no, just no.
And well, I guess casting Cruciatus is a difficult thing to do… and Harry didn’t seem very afraid to do it… that’s not supposed to be a good thing, but apparently, now it is…?
What made that
As Amycus spun around, Harry shouted, “Crucio!”
more gallant than
“What else did you take, what else? ANSWER ME! CRUCIO!”
After all, they’re the exact same thing. Torture. Inflicting tremendous pain upon someone for the heck of it.
Why do people lose their heads over Harry using Crucio, when they seem to neglect the fact that Draco Malfoy cast it?
Well, easy enough - Draco Malfoy is an evil little cockroach. The guy wished death upon people, he bragged about the fact that his Daddy dearest was a terrorist who killed people. It’s not too surprising that an evil little cockroach like him would find it acceptable to torture someone he considers “not human”, isn’t it?
What’s more surprising however, is that the hero, Harry Potter, who has been subjected to the Torture Curse, whose only use of the Torture Curse previously was when he felt distress and pain unlike any other, that Harry Potter whom is supposed to be a hero and some sort of role model, would actually manage to use said Torture Curse even though it requires real sadism to actually work.
And what’s even worse is that Harry Potter casts that curse, that literal Torture Curse, and instead of being rightly horrified, instead of being terrified by the boy’s use of such a heinous spell, instead of saying “alright Harry, you’re not doing this again, ever, right?”, instead…
Instead McGonagall calls Harry “gallant”, instead of telling him off for using such a curse. She briefly calls him “foolish”, but it doesn’t register, really, since she ends up calling him “gallant”.
That’s what angers people. That the Torture Curse is the most horrible, awful thing you can do to people… unless you’re Harry Potter, in which case it is a little “foolish”, but mostly “gallant”.
......................
But of course, little Anon over here isn’t angered. Because little Anon is a faithful devoted member of the Church of Harry Christ Our Lord And Saviour. Little Anon can say enormities like A pAiNfUl StUnNeR and believe it with the whole force of their little Anon heart, because uwu Hawwy speshul orphan pure lurve uwu.
Little Anon, please get the fuck out of my blog and never, ever come back. I’m sure this arrangement will be beneficial for everyone involved.

Saw that Hana is one of your favorite characters... I hate how Horikoshi treated her... He did her so dirty. I mean, like all the female characters dirty but ? She only had fifteen or so panels, and then he made her, a SEVEN OR SO y.o. girl, dying so gruesomely & horribly on-screen ??? And for little more than shock value ??! I hate it SO MUCH. So since I'm spiteful at heart now I love her very much. If Horikoshi wasn't a coward he'd have her survive and be part of her bro's redemption (1/2)
(2/2) maybe have her mostly on her own as the only survivor of the incident, and wanting to help kids like the brother she failed, but also losing faith in heroes/consider them mostly useless over the years, and so decides to take matter in her own hands after witnessing their (and the public) inaction/inability to do what she considers as actually helping people. BAM, cool non-nonsense vigilante. OH WAIT, a morally ambiguous female character who's NOT Ax-Crazy(TM), "deviant" or sexualized ????
hana is really a character i’d love to see more of, but at the same time i’m not necessarily surprised/upset that she died. the gruesomeness is definitely on another level and there’s plenty to say about how horikoshi depicts violence against his female characters, but i guess i wouldn’t say that the death itself was only for shock value (though the execution is debatable).
like, the fact that tomura’s family was dead was already heavily hinted at over the course of the entire series, and i don’t think it’s cowardly to follow through on that and reveal to us that, yes, the shimuras are in fact dead. it’s not like hori just killed them off on a whim to shock the audience—the fact that they died horrifically by tomura’s own hands is something that shaped his character, it was baked into his character’s premise from the start. if i had to pick character deaths that seemed pointless and nonsensical, the shimuras would not be anywhere near the top of the list.
that’s not to say that i don’t think there aren’t parts of hori’s biases that shine through. again, i feel like his female characters tend to be brutalized worse and more often fatally than his male characters. it’s also eyebrow-raising when hori has had some male characters come back from the dead somehow, but never his female characters. i just don’t really agree that shock value was all that was accomplished here.
also, while i am accepting of the canon version of events i also do like to hear of/see people’s AUs for the shimuras! there is a lot of potential in that family and a lot of characters that could be explored, but one series can’t explore all of those stories and possibilities at once. what’s nice about fanwork is that you don’t have to stick to the creator’s vision so you can explore everything else.
thank you for sharing, anon! i don’t mean to put a damper on your thoughts

hoh I'm really sorry friend but you got Talbot's backstory kinda muddled. Some things you stated that he did, he didn't actually do for the reasons you stated. He didn't experiment on killers just for fun -- he ran from them. they hunted him. he experimented on them to find a dosage right for himself. he also didn't experiment on an animal for fun. it was dead. Vigo apparently talked about escaping and it had to do with serum. Its why he injected himself after tests. He wanted a way out.
Tumblr media
I’m going to answer this in two parts since it’s stated in two. First, friend, I am going to have to operate on the assumption that you have very very strong feelings about Talbot and assume everything said against him is pretty much the same after a glance or something like it, because I never once said he experiments on the killers for fun. I said the Entity I think lets Talbot experiment on other killers now that he is one too as “punishment for them and fun research times for Talbot,” not that Talbot experiments on them for fun. I think he does enjoy doing his scientific research, but that aside, the above is just a description of the Entity’s reasoning in letting him do that/its POV.  I certainly never said he does it ‘just for fun’. In fact, I explicitly stated his motivation for becoming a killer was to attempt to protect himself. I have to assume you didn’t really read my post at all, or perhaps got it confused with another. I know my shit. I read up. Though it is true I say ‘animals’ when, while he canonically experiments on both rats and crows, only the one rat happened for sure before he moved on to the Trapper. Although, that’s kind of worse... Again though, I never once said he did any of this for fun. I know he injected people to see what the serum would do, in a very reckless and poorly thought attempt to escape the realm. I explicitly mention this. Perhaps you are confused because I describe him as torturing people, and he’s not just doing pain for fun--this is because torture is not limited to only pain inflicted on someone out of cruelty or a desire to manipulate them. The dictionary definition of the verb, to torture, is “To cause intense suffering. To torment”. And he absolutely tortures killers, survivors, and reanimated realm animals alike as a means to his own ends. Also, the Entity has not erased all his memories--I know the archives has some memory deterioration lore added, but much of what he did to others happened well before any of that began, and explicitly some of his own addons mention things he explicitly remembers. The Entity did of course leave him to suffer in the void, with is a form of torture, and used the medical affects of blight itself to help manipulate him. Unfortunately, being hurt yourself doesn’t excuse you from the responsibility of what horrors you inflict on other people.
For part two, I am sure my answer is coming off as a bit abrasive. I appreciate the apology, but yes, it is rather rude. Even without the lack of attention to detail. Let me try to say this more fairly though, because I don’t know you at all, and in all likelihood, you’re a very nice and decent person who doesn’t mean anything by this, and simply has deep feelings about this character. Also, this isn’t all directed just at you, but to some degree at everybody who has sent me one of these in the past, or will in the future, which I am very tired of. I am going to quit answering most of them from here on.
First of all, I understand feeling deeply about a character or topic. I understand being frustrated or even hurt when you see opinions that distress you, or seem unjust compared to what you believe. That’s natural, and even sweet. And I am all for talking about how you feel and think and why, and leaving that in the tags so other people might hear what you have to say. Even for messaging people to see if they want to have a discussion with you. It’s endearing when people love things and want to fight for them. I only describe Talbot as more interesting than many of the others, because I was not asked specifically about my sympathy level, and it doesn’t factor high in importance to me where he is concerned, but you’re not wrong that Talbot is more sympathetic--or, at least, depending on interpretation, much more capable of being written sympathetic while adhering to canon--than many of the other killers. That said, he’s also--completely in line with canon--interpretable as pretty monstrous. I don’t think I necessarily paint him heavily either direction. Simply I personally feel fairly little sympathy for someone who commits the kinds of dehumanizing acts of scientific research torture on war prisoners without a second thought, ignores the consequences of his actions, and so quickly casts his humanity aside when in tribulation. He devolves from someone who could have changed and been good, to a man who is a horrific monster and cares only for him self, with no lines he will not cross (his own words, and pre-killer even). And to some people, that is tragic. To me, I feel little kinship for the man he was before, and am simply disappointed in him for failing so easily and completely. I can see why someone might interpret his character quite differently, but my take is just as valid in line with canon, and it’s mine.
I don’t mind people telling me their thoughts, and I don’t mind reading takes in the tags. And again, I very much understand the desire to stand up for something you care about if you feel it is wronged. But that’s not really what you’ve done here, messaging me on anonymous. To the best of my knowledge, I have never even interacted with you before. You didn’t open a discussion with me; you talked down to me, and you decided to argue with me about a topic I did not invite anyone into debate with myself. I am not an opinion blog, or a discussion blog. I am a personal blog. But still, you were discontent to not go into my space and try to scold me about my own opinions as a stranger. And you did all of it on anonymous, where there is no tag attaching anything you said even to your online persona, and no way for me to even be assured of you seeing an answer, or entering any dialogue with me. Which means that the goal, subconsciously probably since I know nothing at all about you and have no reason at all to think you’re anything but a decent person who is a bit carried away today with love for Talbot Grimes, but still the goal, was never to have a dialogue with me in the hopes maybe I would see and like your reasoning and we could talk about something we both have an interest in. It was that you felt so entitled to dictate someone you don’t know’s opinion about something they disagree with you on, that you felt compelled to leave a missive instructing me to correct my wrongs in my inbox.
Which, well, is rude.
This is probably a bit more, uh, ‘icy’? Than is totally necessary. I really am not angry at all; I understand you probably had no real ill will towards me doing this. I just have this happen a lot, and I am tired of it, so I want an easy frame of reference to link back to for why I find this behavior rude and cowardly and an unasked for nuisance--badly intentioned consciously or not. I truly am sorry if this makes you feel bad or distressed to read, especially if you’re a younger fan. I truly am not mad at you--and I do not at all think or mean to imply you are a bad person. Everybody is occasionally thoughtless. It’s not remotely representative of character. But please don’t keep doing this to people who aren’t interested in a debate. And if you believe in something enough you want to take the discussion to someone else, sign your name to it. If you feel enough conviction to make something someone else’s problem, make it your problem for real too. I’m truly not mad though, and wish you the best.
(and my ‘if you are annoyed by this or any of my other personal opinions and desperately want me to read your thoughts on anon about that’ requirements below the cut)
It’s literally not worth my time to read anon hate or people upset I don’t like a serial killer, so if you for some wild incomprehensible reason really feel a need to see me read that and answer to you instead of just delete and/or block without a look, then either leave my $5 on my Kofi, or get used to knowing I didn’t even read it.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I have to actually get paid to not file that shit under ‘I’m not paid enough to deal with this’.

You're so chill! You never seem fazed by questions people ask you and I love that you are open to everyone. How do you avoid drama here on Tumblr? Especially in the astro/witchblr communities? I see a lot of trash talking and hate between certain bloggers but I never see you involved- teach me your ways! Thank you for your help and time if you answer!
Hi love, thank you <3
I explained here why I have no tolerance or interest in judgemental people. I’m also at the tail end of my twenties and as a result, have other demands on my time. I’ve got money to make, bills to pay, parents, and siblings to look out for. Friends to support, etc. I made this blog in particular because my main ask box was getting overloaded with Astro questions and as I love astrology and helping others, I figured the most practical way to assist the people asking for insight was to make a separate page so as to compartmentalize my private mecca and my public one.
I follow many gifted people on this site, lots of creatives, and people with the same background [in one way or another] as me. It disappoints me to see some of the pettiness and in-fighting. I wish many would realize there is strength in numbers. As opposed to hating on one another, especially if someone perceives another to have a greater following than them or just a difference of opinion, it would be of greater benefit to show support. Plus, you just never know what people are going through personally. Now even if I don’t always agree with someone’s perspective, I never allow myself to sink to scum level and send someone hate. I observe a lot of jealousy and competition here like you- it’s juvenile. Hatred for hatred’s sake and not because it is actually justified or based in anything logical. I’m quite detached. I don’t care about things that don’t concern me. Of course, if someone tries to shade any of you/my people I’ll pull my claws out, nothing wrong with putting someone in their place when they cross a line. But for the most part, I mind my business. Other times, when I see others subjected to this, sometimes I’ll privately DM them, support their side-hustle [if they have one] comment on their posts, and lift them up. Tell them to keep doing them and never-mind the haters. At the end of the day what people need to remember is that Tumblr is just a micro-blogging site and not the end-all-be-all.
In regard to avoiding drama, the key is to not engage. What you have to remember is what a hater craves is your attention. They’re actually secretly obsessed with you. It’s fan behavior on a more warped level. They want you to fall for their traps. They don’t wanna see you win *DJ Khaled voice*. They want to see that they have an effect on you. It reaffirms their delusions of grandeur and superiority. Or at least, makes them feel better to see you sink to their level. You have to be smarter than them. Deny them the one thing they want- your energy. Protect it at all costs. I tell you guys this all the time: Invest your energy in people and things that are going to give you a solid return. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that life *clap* is *clap* fucking *clap* short. Do you really want to go out with the last thing you did in this life being sending pussy-ass shade under the cowardly cloak of the anon button? We gotta do better. If you take anything away from this, let it at least be the fact that minding the business that pays you is the greatest gift you could ever give to yourself. If anything costs you your peace, it’s too expensive. Don’t ever let anyone influence your energy unless it is for the better. Love yourself, know your worth and add tax.

Listen, I got so caught up in Tyrus Week, spending hours and hours going through tags and liking posts and queuing reblogs, that I pretty much pushed everything else to the side. (Plus I’ve also been working on the next thing I’ll tell you guys about in the next few days.)
All that is to say, I got a lot of stuff in my inbox this last week, so I’m just going to tackle a bunch of them in... A LIGHTNING ROUND.
Let’s go.
And before you ask, yes, I made a graphic for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looks like this Andi Mack finale party has turned into... a death party.
Would’ve been a strange choice for Terri Minsky to turn the finale of Andi Mack into a murder mystery, but if that’s what she wanted, I’d trust her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t watch that show but I know some people who do and they’ve told me it’s just light and airy and pleasant, so, yeah, sounds right up Cyrus’s alley.
Tumblr media
You guys are shouting Lightning Round! every time the graphic comes up, right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I, like TJ, am just some guy. I tell everyone who asks to call me Jay. Jay is long for “J”, which is short for another name that I, also like TJ, only let people related to me by blood or my soulmate know about. I will say it’s not Jagger, though. I wish.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That wasn’t my intention while writing TJ and the Gals, but as with all art, or whatever TJ and the Gals was, once it’s out of the creator’s hands, it belongs to the people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thelonious Jagger Kippen Is A Hashtag Good Boi.
Shoutout to my FAQ page, where you can find information like this and more. Not blaming you, anon, I’ve gotten this a lot and the FAQ page is hard to find. I mostly just delete the question and let the anon live in mystery because I’m chaotic something. I’m only answering this now because it’s the
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know the shook_bitch? Thank them from me for getting Disney Channel to respond to them, and congratulate them on being the subject of the best comment the Disney Channel Instagram account ever made.

Yeah, I went back and checked and Jonah only says in 3x12 that his dad made a bad investment, not lost a job or anything.
It really seems like he’s been managing the Judy Bartholomew fortune all these years. We don’t know anything else of him other than he was once a background workout video guy and he has at least enough knowledge about baseball to coach little league.
Hopefully the new job is providing him with a solid salary, but if not, I think the world is ready for a Judy Bartholomew comeback.
Judy Bartholomew: Still Trottin’ After All These Years
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m not entirely sure exactly which girl we’re talking about here. I think this one:
Tumblr media
I will say, she does seem into it. She’s like, oh, things are about to get gay in here.
Honestly, there were so many background actors killing it in this scene.
You’ve got this guy...
Tumblr media
...who hears the beginning of “Born This Way” and reacts like it’s ruined his evening. I mean, I was a little tired of it, too, when it was being played on the radio over and over and over, but it’s been some years. It’s not overplayed as much anymore and it definitely wouldn’t make me this upset. (He pops up later in the song and is happily dancing, so maybe he thought it was the beginning of a different song?)
Then there’s this girl...
Tumblr media
...who is feeling it. She’s like, hell yeah, this is my jam!
And there’s this girl in the goggles...
Tumblr media
...who, after TJ and Cyrus sing the “be myself, respect my youth” part, is like, okayyyy. I see you.
Here’s a fun(?) behind-the-scenes thing for this blog. A few months back, I was thinking about ways to replace “Moments” if we had, by some miracle, gotten a season four, since I would’ve run out of moments weeks after the finale. What I came up with was “The Random Andi Mack Extra of the Day.” It would’ve just been screenshots of random extras throughout the show’s run. Upon some reflection, this was a bad idea.
The first problem here is that I get the feeling those posts would’ve gotten, at most, 20-30 notes each, because no one really cares about random, out of context extras and it doesn’t seem like a thing people would want to reblog.
The second problem is, knowing myself, I probably would’ve spent hundreds of hours during the hiatus between s3 and s4 making 1000 of them in the first place, just so I could have them ready to go. I would’ve absolutely done this without testing the waters first to see if there was any interest. (Just like with the “Moments.” I made like 300 of them before I made the first post about them.)
So, the most likely scenario was going to be me, two weeks into “The RAMEotD,” looking at flopping posts, then looking at my folder of 800 screenshots of Andi Mack extras and going, “Well, what am I going to do, not post them? I already did all the work!” And I would keeping queuing them up, and they would keep appearing on this blog every day, and they would taunt me with their 22 notes. You remember the work you did? IT WAS FOR BUT A PITTANCE!
So I guess what I’m saying is maybe it’s for the best. The cancellation saves me from myself.
Hey, though, heads up. If and when you go back and watch the series again, pay attention to the extras -- the unsung heroes of the entertainment industry. There are some extras reallllly putting in work on this show. It absolutely adds to the delightful quality of Andi Mack. Every time I would spot someone in the background being goofy or really overselling whatever they were supposed to be experiencing, it filled me with joy.
It’s a fun show. Everything about it is fun, including the little details.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ooh, a serious one. This is going to be my first ever hybrid Discussion/Analysis post.
Okay, so I think we’re talking about two different things here.
I won’t argue that I think Tyrus could have absolutely happened sooner and been explored more.
I obviously can’t say with certainty, but I assume that was at least somewhat the plan leading out of season two. The setup for their relationship was all already there by the end of it. They’d met, they had bumps, they grew really close, and they capped the whole season off with TJ looking back at Cyrus. All the elements were in place that you could jump right into this storyline in TJ’s next appearance. (Not necessarily them canoning, but at least the exploration of TJ’s feelings or some movement towards canoning.)
When Cyrus’s lookback happened, it was addressed in the very next episode (granted following a break in seasons). I don’t know that TJ’s would’ve been as immediate, but I don’t think you have him look back in the season two finale if you don’t intend on truly paying it off for 21 episodes. (Or, at least 13, if you want to say 3x13 was the real start of a storyline involving TJ’s homosexuality.)
So, yeah, look, I’m speculating wildly, but I would imagine the original creative idea was to address TJ’s lookback early in season three and start getting into it, and that, yes, that idea was likely kiboshed from above.
What I will argue is that the bench scene is subtle but not ambiguous. We’ve made the semi-joke constantly around here that there’s “No heterosexual explanation for this!” but, truly, there is no heterosexual explanation for the bench scene: two boys, one of whom has already explicitly stated he’s gay, slowly reaching for and holding each other’s hands, intertwining their fingers while they sit by the fire and stare into each other’s eyes, nervously smiling. This is something that has been built towards for multiple seasons. If you’ve been watching the show, if you’ve been paying attention to it, if you care about the characters, especially TJ and Cyrus, it’s very clear what’s happening here.
This feels like talking about people who weren’t sure Cyrus was gay after the first two times he came out because he didn’t use the word. Or people who thought Cyrus wasn’t gay anymore after he said his crush on Jonah was gone. I sympathize with some of the younger set who maybe don’t have the world sense to follow along with this, but, come on, at some point, we’re three seasons in and you have to keep up with the level of the storytelling. I don’t mean this in an insulting way, but if someone can’t get what’s happening here, then maybe this whole thing isn’t for them. Maybe if all they know right now is that Cyrus is gay and accepted and happy, then that’s good enough, and they can hold onto that idea and grow with that and catch the next train, whenever it comes along. Maybe this moment is for all the people who get it.
That’s about the kids in the casual audience. Now, if we’re talking about an adult homophobe -- one who would express the kind of outrage that we believe Disney fears -- it’s a different story. If an adult homophobe is really watching that scene and thinking, “Seems pretty straight to me” then it feels like it doesn’t matter what they would’ve done in the finale. They could’ve said “gay,” they could’ve said “boyfriend,” Cyrus and TJ could’ve lead a pride parade down the street outside Celia’s house while blasting -- well, I was going to pick a gay song here for the joke, but probably “Born This Way” would be the most appropriate one, so -- “Born This Way” from loud speakers, and that homophobe would’ve been like, “Nice parade.” As ignorant as homophobes are, even they are not that dense. An adult pretending Tyrus isn’t a couple after the bench scene requires a level of impenetrably willful ignorance.
Anyway, the truth is that angry homophobes aren’t watching the show. They never do. They like to read headlines and get mad, but they’re cowardly and, most of all, lazy, and they don’t like to put in the actual footwork. They like to leave comments on articles they haven’t read, about shows they haven’t watched. They like to post reactions to stuff they see in their Facebook feed or send one sentence responses like, “There goes Disney Channel!!!” or “What is happening to our country?!?!” And then they like to scroll on to the next thing that will feed their sad rage about how the world is changing around them.
If you want to think about Disney censorship as a way of preventing those homophobes from being outraged, it’s not the textuality of the scene itself, it’s the placement at the end. Delaying them canoning until the finale just makes for less work. Show’s over. There’s nothing to defend. No one’s signing a petition to get a show off the air that’s just aired its last episode. Most of the articles written will be about everything happening in the finale, and Tyrus would just be a part of it.
And that is more or less what’s happened. Just about every major article I’ve seen about the finale has discussed Tyrus, and discussed them as textually getting together -- again, there’s no ambiguity there -- but has also brought them up in conjunction with what happened with Andi and Jonah, with Muffy getting together, and with Andi getting into SAVA. And the articles themselves tend to largely be about the show ending as a whole and its impact. (No one needs to send me articles trying to prove or disprove this. I’ve been over a lot of them. Some are more Tyrus focused -- the ones in the gay media for sure -- and some just mention it -- more traditional media sources. This is the general gist of most of them.)
So the article headlines mostly read “Andi Mack Finale” or “Andi Mack Ends Run” or something like that. The homophobes -- who, again, aren’t watching the show and are getting all their information about it via article headlines -- see those headlines and don’t even remember Andi Mack was the show they hated from two years ago because their rage is mostly performative and short-lived. They get mad in the minute but forget about the specifics of the stuff within a day.
Like I said in the recap, I won’t argue that there’s a scene with more that wouldn’t work, but I personally don’t see the bench scene as not having accomplished everything it needed to.
Tumblr media
Oh, that went longer than I thought it was going to be. Not very lightning round of me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This actually got sent a while back but it was still in my inbox and I figured I’d throw it in here in case the anon saw it. Lightning round!
Sorry, anon, I wasn’t ignoring you and I appreciate you reading my old recaps, but you were the second anon to piece together that I am actually blessed with psychic powers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t really have any plans to, sorry.
I had only planned to do one set before and after the finale for Tyrus Week, but I will point you and anyone else interested in making their own TJ and Cyrus texts to this post I made that should give you the basic tools needed for the job. (Use them! You wouldn’t believe what a pain in the butt it was to get that background clean like that!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you, honestly. That’s so, so sweet. But I have no plans to do that.
Like I mentioned at the start of this post, I’m working on something now that I’ll tell you guys about shortly that’s look-backy and will hit on some stuff from those seasons. (Though not in the same vein as the recaps.)
The recaps take a long time to produce, and as much as I’ve loved this show and this fandom, I will be honest and tell you guys I am sort of planning my exit.
This blog has become something of a part-time job for me. Not in the work sense because I have truly enjoyed all this, but just in the time sense. I’ve put a lot of time in and I would like to rededicate that time back toward other things I’ve put on hold for the last year and a half.
Tumblr media
It’s starting to feel like making you shout Lightning Round! each time was a mistake now that I’m answering stuff seriously or sadly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was getting emotional multiple times while writing it, because of the show, because of the fandom, because of this whole journey we’ve all been on together.
I appreciate you saying this so much because that’s what I’ve always hoped has come through in the things I’ve written about this show. That I’ll make jokes or point out holes or goofy details or whatever, but that I couldn’t do this -- I couldn’t commit myself to this as much as I have -- if I truly didn’t love the show. That everything I’m doing here comes from a place of love and celebrating the show and embracing it for its good stuff and its silly stuff.
It wasn’t a perfect show, but that was always what made it kind of perfect.
Tumblr media
Thanks for the asks. Thus ends the lightning round.

Note
could you do getting the reader getting a solo mission from the boss with poly tiziano and squalo?? i really enjoyed that one!!
OH! You got it anon! Im so happy you liked it!
Based off this ask
Tumblr media
Squalo: He was fuming, he was peeved. Openly criticizing the boss’s decision to send you off on your own that Tiziano and you had to calm him down or else he’ll be deemed a traitor. He’s anxious and kept stop thinking the worst. What if something happened to you? He would never forgive the boss if you ended up being killed. You three have always accompanied one another, so why now? What game is Boss playing at? The more he thought about it the more you were convinced he was going have a brain aneurysm. Tiziano and you led him to the couch to get him to relax. Tiz massaged his chest and kissed the nape of Squalo’s neck and continued to pepper him in kisses. You did the same along with whispering into his ears that you’ll be okay and to trust the Boss’s judgment. Squalo’s frowned deepened but you could tell he’s relaxed considerably.
Tiziano: When he heard the news, he was shocked but Squalo’s reaction prevented him from fully absorbing the information. Squalo was saying some dangerous things, and he needed to calm him down before he could process his own feelings. As he and you comforted him, Tiz felt a sense of dread begin to blossom. He was concerned because you would be alone and he and Squalo would not be around to provide protection. He also wanted to know what Boss was thinking, but he knew nothing good would come if they questioned him. When he’s able to talk to you, he pulls you close, asking if you’ll be alright.
“I don’t have a choice,” you press your lips.
Tiziano kisses your forehead and says, “You’ll be okay,” saying it more to himself.
Squalo and Tiziano: Squalo smashes the phone onto the ground after another unsuccessful attempt of getting in contact with Doppio. You had yet to return from the mission Boss assigned, and Squalo was beginning to lose patience and faith. Squalo was spitting out curses, directing them to the absent Doppio. Tiziano watched his partner in silence, thinking about what could have happened to you.
“Tiz, we have to look for them! What if they’re in trouble? Who gives a damn if the Boss only wanted one person assigned to this mission. They matter more than some damn order,” Squalo expressed with fervor. Tiziano brought him close and held him.
“Squalo,” he began, his smooth voice bring Squalo at ease. “We’ll search for them and find them regardless of what the Boss wants.” Squalo was normally the most level-headed, and he knew there could be consequences to their defiance, but your safety and wellbeing were more important.
As members of the guard squad, there came some privileges and they were going to exploit them. They used money and influence to network across Italy to find some kind of information or eye witness account of some sort. Squalo even resorted to using Clash as a means of extracting information but to no avail.
“Damn it! Where the fuck are they?” Squalo yelled. A storm was forming inside Tiziano too, and he was ready to go wild along with Squalo and tear apart Italy if it meant finding you. They were both pulled from their thoughts by the sound of Squalo’s phone going off.
“Squalo?” It was Doppio! “Boss has a mission for the three of you. There are rumors of traitors in Rome we need you to take care of.”
“Doppio! How the hell are you going to assign us a mission when [Name] is still missing?!” Squalo questioned. There was long silence on the other line.
“Missing? [Name] reported to me earlier today about the mission being a success.”
“S-success?” Squalo turned to Tiziano who was waiting anxiously. Squalo felt tears sting his eyes and voice crack, “They’re alright, Tiz.” Tiziano’s eyes lighted up and took a deep breath. “Thank god.”
“Understood, Doppio. We’ll reconvene and wait for Boss’s orders.” Squalo put his attention back on Doppio.
“I will call back later with more instructions…Squalo? This is your and Tiziano’s only warning. Don’t doubt the Boss’s judgment.” With that Doppio hang up. That sends a chill up Squalo’s spine. Sure, Doppio was mostly a friendly albeit cowardly person, there was still something off and ominous about him.
“Let’s go back home, Squalo. They’re probably waiting for us.”
Once back, they saw you laying on the couch holding your side and an ice pack resting on your eye.
Tiziano had to hold Squalo back from jumping on you for a hug. Clearly, you were injured, but Squalo was too excited to see you.
“Tesoro,” Tiziano caresses your face, “we were worried about you.” He looked you up and down and felt the inside of his chest tighten. They hated seeing you like that. You all hated when one of the others was hurt.
“Just a few bumps and bruises and some homemade stitches. Nothing I can’t handle,” you tried to joke. Tiziano and Squalo shared a look before tending to you.
“We will take care of you until you’re better, Tesoro,” Tiziano kissed your cheek before going to find the first-aid kit. Squalo stayed by your side and ran his fingers through your locks.
“When Tiziano comes back, tell us about what happened, Amore,” Squalo requested. You could only hum as a response as Squalo’s ministrations worked to lull you to sleep.

Text
Shion leaves his window open all the time, and Nezumi wants to believe that maybe that’s for him. Shion sits by the window when he reads, or sometimes while he's writing letters. Sometimes he just stares out the window, and Nezumi wonders what he's thinking.
But he looks good. That's the important thing, Nezumi figures. Shion looks alive and healthy and well-fed, and all things considered, like he's doing just fine.
If he sometimes looks sad, Nezumi tries not to think too much about that.
*
Another robotic mouse would have been too recognizable, even if it would have been the easier thing to make. Shion would probably be expecting another robotic mouse. So Nezumi makes a small snake instead. In a fit of generalized stupidity, he makes the snake red, and only later realizes how noticeable that would be, out in the wild. But it is a dull red, and small enough to hide in cracks and secret places; perfect for spying, which is what it is designed for.
Nezumi doesn't name it, because that was Shion's thing. He thought it was stupid when Shion did it and he's certainly not going to start being sentimental now. He just calls it Hebi and tells it to watch Shion. It records Shion's activities and avoids the mice and keeps Nezumi up to date on all things Shion.
It makes perfect sense to keep track of Shion. After all, the last time he left Shion alone, he ended up nearly getting killed by accidentally stumbling upon a government conspiracy. Who knows what Shion will do if left unsupervised this time. So Nezumi might be gone from Shion's life, but he's not really gone, even if Shion doesn't know that.
*
There's just things he has to do. That's what he tells himself, anyway. He had to leave. It was good for him and Shion both.
*
"It's not like we could have had happily ever after," he tells the snake. "Shakespeare's comedies ended with a marriage and his tragedies ended with death. We had a lot of death. If I stayed, we probably would have had more."
The snake raises its body and tilts its head.
"It's not cowardly," Nezumi informs it. "There was never violence in his life before I entered it, and there would have been nothing but violence if I stayed."
The snake tilts its head the other way.
"Don't look at me like that. You're not allowed to judge me. I made you."
He's talking to a robotic snake he built to spy on Shion. He is aware of the levels of ridiculousness that are going on right now. But then, Hamlet talked to a skull, so perhaps he's not so bad off. (Although, considering what happened to Hamlet, probably Nezumi shouldn't be relieved by the comparison.)
*
He ends up calling the snake Yorick and feels slightly appalled.
*
And it's not like it will be forever. Even when he was ten years old and they separated the first time, Nezumi knew it wasn't going to be forever. There was something that bound them together. Like a prophecy in a Shakespeare play. They were entwined now, and it doesn't matter how much time or distance is between them.
He really needs to stop looking at the recorded video of Shion so much, though. It's probably a little pathetic.
*
One day Yorick returns with a piece of paper tied around his—its—neck. It takes Nezumi a full two days before he finally reads it.
The snake is cute but I miss you.
Nezumi looks down at the red snake and says, "You're supposed to be more discreet."
The snake looks remarkably like it’s feigning innocence. Which is rather impressive, for a snake.
Nezumi tucks the piece of paper in his pocket. He looks down at the snake and says, "Yes, alright." It probably is time to go—
He pauses, taken aback by his own thought. But then shrugs. It probably is time to go home. And that's probably not such a strange thought after all.
Shion was always home.
A/N: A long time ago a couple people wondered if I'd ever write No. 6 fic. I didn't think I would, but this certainly was fun to try out! This one is for you, long time ago anon-friends =D And for the anon-friend who wondered about it more recently. Also, I haven’t watched/read No. 6 in awhile, so I might be misremembering things.
