Top 10 Christian Streaming Providers in 2022
Amidst a seemingly endless global pandemic many of us have found relief indoors by retreating to the comforts of online streaming services for our news and entertainment. The last few years, unfortunately, have provided a never-ending supply of negative media & content that can sometimes be difficult to navigate.
During these uncertain times it is important for us to take a step away from negative stimuli and instead nurture ourselves with positive content that feeds our mind and soul. Not just for ourselves, but also for our families.
While major streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon have Christian movies, you unfortunately have to scroll through multiple layers of suggestive thumbnails, before finding the right movie or TV show to watch.
I recall an instance where I was scrolling through Hulu for a family-friendly show to watch with my wife and kids during dinner. I was unfortunately greeted by a thumbnail from American Horror Story as soon as the app opened.
The image was of an alien and a vampire kissing with a bullet wrapped around their tongues. Not family friendly. I had never seen the show before, so I figured it had to be a paid marketing ad to get more viewers to watch the show or just a mistake. Nevertheless, it was still so disturbing that my then 7-year-old jumped up in shock and yelled “Daddy turn that off”! It took us several attempts of voting the show downward for it to finally be removed from our show catalog and recommendation list.
Things like this make it difficult for Christian parents to search for family friendly Christian content and it risks the chance of exposing our children to unsuitable material.
Fortunately, there are several Christian TV streaming services that filter out inappropriate content and give believers a safe and more family-oriented viewing experience.
We have researched and tested multiple Christian streaming platforms to identify those that have faith-based family friendly content for Christian families.

5. Charles Parker Prize for The Bathing Place
A radio programme I made earlier this year in collaboration with radio producer Hunter Charlton has been selected as a winner of the 2021 Charles Parker Prize. As a result it will be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in the week beginning 26 July and will be available on BBC Sounds. You can also listen to the programme right away via Hunter’s soundcloud (well worth listening to his other work on there too if you like what you hear).
The programme is called The Bathing Place and explores the cultural history of Parson’s Pleasure, a male-only nude bathing place that was active on the River Cherwell near Oxford for around 400 years, until its demolition in 1992. We also look at how Parson’s Pleasure is both relevant and, on a more-or-less clandestine basis, in use today, reflecting in particular on its character as a queer space.
As this is the same general topic that my PhD thesis covers and the programme could only be about 11.5 mins long, the most obvious challenge was deciding which 99% of my research to leave out. This was helped along by the fact that we were working in audio, so that it made sense to bring available recorded, archival and poetic voices and sounds to the fore. Hunter was also very good at clocking what would work sonically and his painstaking editing and clever use of sound and music was crucial for bringing it all together.
Tumblr media
The Soundcloud thumbnail shows an oil painting made by William Roberts during his wartime stint living in Marston, just outside Oxford, and teaching at Oxford Brookes. Completed in 1944, Parson’s Pleasure (aka On the Lawn) was one of a series of Cherwell studies Roberts made in this period – along with the more moody Punting on the Cherwell (above). A few months after the demolition of the bathing place in January 1992, the interior designer Andrew Protheroe made a pastiche of Parson’s Pleasure, which hung above the pool of Elton John’s London home for several years. In 2016-17, the original appeared as part of The Mythic Method: Classicism in British Art 1920-1950 at Pallant House Gallery, Chichester.
We’re now planning a longer audio piece, with more splashing.

Should I move to WordPress?
This is kind of a sudden thing for me to talk about, but it’s something that I started thinking out of the blue this Thursday afternoon and I think I’m so close to make the final decision to actually do it because it’ll benefit me better for my blogging hobby in a better platform with better features, I might completely switch to WordPress for good.
For starters, the WordPress I’m talking about is the freemium version, WordPress.com, there’s no way I could use WordPress.org because I need to make a domain for it, and I don’t have the money to afford one and I think using WordPress.org might still require some coding to tweak some things, which is a hard pass.
I breifly talked about some things about moving to WordPress on my Twitter, but I think it’s best to explain in more detail as to why I want to move to WordPress.
Why should I move to WordPress?
As much as I like the theme I’m using in Tumblr, there’s this big problem with the pictures where it gets compressed so bad that the pictures look incredibly small. Just look how small it is.
Tumblr media
And the worst part is if you click to view the picture, the compression really affected the actual resolution.
I’ve been running a test dummy website in WordPress and I chose this theme that I think it looks really cool, it has the style I like, but it still has the same problem with the image resolution when reading posts.
Tumblr media
Although I think it looks somewhat better, it doesn’t look incredibly small compared to how Tumblr looks, but what’s better is that the compression doesn’t affect the resolution of the image when you click “View image” on Firefox (Or “Open tab to view image” in Chrome) and at least the placeholder tier shown here is normal, but when I put other images and I click “view image,” there’s this forced WordPress.com thing with menus all over, and no matter what you do, you can’t look at the bare image in your browser. Let’s just hope for the best that it doesn’t affect the resolution when you save those images.
Tumblr media
Basically WordPress offers far better formatting options than Tumblr does if you’re using the Rich Text editor, and that’s what I’ve been using for my whole life, I don’t even bother using the HTML editor because I don’t know anything about coding at all. WordPress has this neat text editor where any item you put, some text or an image and they’re all set in blocks and it gives you some options right off the bat, we all know the basic text features like bold, headline, etc, but the headline is a life saver because I can make headlines at different sizes to balance the topics and stuff and that’s something I wouldn’t do in Tumblr’s rich text editor. I can even put images with no problem and the “Featured Image” option in WordPress works really good if your posts have thumbnails, I always tried to emulate this with Tumblr by just adding the picture on top of the text as if it was a thumbnail, it worked fine but I guaranteed it’s not as good of actually setting up your thumbnail as an option.
There’s also the option to add dividers which is something I really need for Tumblr, Tumblr did use to have dividers but for some reason they removed and I’ll just have to add pictures or something.
I did try a different theme on WordPress and the images look far better than this theme I’m using, but the problem with WordPress as well as Tumblr, is that 99% of the themes aren’t even that good, they just focus way too much on galleries and even the blog focused ones are just very cluttered with junk I don’t even need and defeats the purpose of wanting to make a blog site, this WordPress theme, the Rowling theme, is the kind of style that I like, I like my blogs to be like this classic style with the widgets like search, archive and such on the right while I get the posts and stuff on the left. It may not be as cool as the Tumblr one I’m using and the Rowling theme still has some flaws but it’s still going to do fine.
The other theme I tried was the Penscratch 2 theme which gears towards more blogging and it’s the kind of style that I like, although I used to like the theme but now I grew tired of it because I didn’t like how it looked anymore and the color options are extremely limited. The Rowling theme, on the other hand, allows me to customize 3 out of 5 options, I may not change colors in some areas but for the most part it’s far enough for me to use the theme.
Tumblr is a dead site
Another reason why I want to move on to WordPress is for the potential to get better attention unlike Tumblr which is non-existent (I mostly share links of the posts to some Discord servers I occasionally interact with, but I do wish the posts by themselves would get some tractions, I don’t know if it’s the tags but they should get something), mainly because no one on this day and age uses Tumblr anymore because they nuked all of the NSFW content, and that’s probably what caused people to boycott Tumblr for good.
Another problem Tumblr has is being owned by different companies like Yahoo and Verizon which served no good, especially after the porn content purge, but I COMPLETELY forgot that Tumblr was recently acquired by Automattic, the company that owns WordPress. Well, this post has already become quite the irony considering I want to move to WordPress, although I don’t think they’ll do any favors to Tumblr, and as the title of this category implies, Tumblr is dead at this point.
Despite Tumblr being bought by the owner of WordPress, it doesn’t really do anything for me, they’re not even adding some quality of life improvements to redeem Tumblr, hell, they probably won’t even redeem Tumblr, so might as well switch to WordPress which works far better as a blogging platform.
What about the posts I published throughout the years?
I originally thought I should rewrite every single post I made on the website for archival purposes, but I realized there’s a lot of them and it would be a pain in the ass to copy and paste everything, especially my New Year 2021 post which is probably the longest post I’ve ever made in my life (And nobody even read that, all that effort I put gone to waste).
I think it’s for the best to start from scratch, I was planning to launch the site with the HajiKo Anime Winter 2021 post (The Cells at Work Black + Cells at Work season 2 thing is a teaser), but at the same time I should make the first post being about my move to WordPress and I’ll leave a link to my Tumblr if anyone wants to read all my previous posts.
Conclusion
The more I’m trying to build my website with a dummy domain, the more I feel like I’m close to actually make the decision to actually move to WordPress for good, though it won’t take a while until April where I’ll launch the site with my new anime review post, like I mentioned earlier.
Despite the flaws the Rowling theme has and amongst other things, it just takes time and figure out what pages I’m going to make and other things and I’ll have a nicely polished website to completely move on from Tumblr for good.
By the way, I’m mainly going to use the free plan on WordPress, I don’t think I would like to spend money on upgrades for more features, even though I would like to have a good domain, SEO and even make money, I don’t think it’s going to be worth the investment if I want to pay for the plan religiously (I’m already financially struggling with paying for Netflix, Disney+, Arknights month pack, Ogata Tei’s Fantia and Sky-Freedom’s Subscribestar anyways).
For the moment I still have yet to finish my dummy site to get a better picture for how will the website turn out so I’ll eventually publish the real thing, so please wait patiently until that happens.
UPDATE - February 20th: I’m seriously having a hard time trying to make my website look good because every time I’m making a new page from scratch, the way the titles are formatted and everything just looks god awful! Everything is so narrow and it’s nothing like how the Rowling theme’s live demo is supposed to look like!
Look how gorgeous the live demo of the theme looks!
Tumblr media
Compared to the absolute trash from making a page from scratch! Everything is so narrow, I hate this!
Tumblr media
This is seriously disappointing me so bad to the point I don’t wanna move to WordPress anymore, there’s no other themes that I like to choose from.

What I Looked At To Find The Best WordPress Calendar Plugins
There are tons of calendar plugins available. But not all of them offer the same features, as some cater to different user needs better than others. Here are a few things I considered when researching the best WordPress calendar plugins and factors you should consider when deciding which is best for your business.
Visual Layout
To cover the basics, a solid WordPress calendar plugin is mobile responsive. It’ll always adjust to any screen it’s viewed on, no matter the size. They’re also easy on the eyes and accessible.
The last thing you want to do is use a calendar plugin that looks outdated, has limited functionality, or doesn’t play well with your website’s other plugins. The more you can create a visually appealing calendar easy for anyone to use, the more you’ll get out of it when using it as a business management tool.
Booking and Appointment Options
Some calendars are designed to be very simple so that you can display important dates and events. Others are created with bookings and appointments in mind.
This means you won’t only be able to display availability but that your customers can book appointments right on your calendar at any time. If you run a service-based business, this can be a great option to look into when choosing the right calendar plugin.
Simplicity
You want to find a plugin that falls in the sweet spot between simplicity and advanced features depending on your business needs. You don’t want to spend the money to buy a robust plugin with lots of heavier features if you won’t even use a third of them.
On the other hand, you don’t want to use a plugin that limits your capabilities when it comes to booking appointments, displaying dates, automating and marking holidays off, or even providing a useful legend.
Conclusion
A WordPress calendar plugin can prove useful in keeping your business productive, staying organized, and keeping your customers happy and informed.
Here’s a recap of the plugins I reviewed in this guide to help you make the best choice:
Timetable Responsive Schedule — The best for displaying daily and weekly time schedules
The Events Calendar — The best for multiple calendar views
Simple Calendar — The best for use with Google Calendar
Events Schedule — The best for versatile calendar styles
EventOn — The best for colorful and dynamic event calendars
Use this guide to choose the best WordPress calendar plugin according to your needs. Then come back and leave a comment below with any feedback on your favorite calendar features.

Sony H.ear On 3 Review | Are they better than the Sony WH1000X-M3?
Listen, hear real quick. Today I’m comparing the new Sony WH-910N H.ear On 3 headphones to the Sony WH1000X-M3. I’m going to break it down into 4 sections. Design, usability, sound quality and at the end awesome features. Are you ready…let’s go.
SONY wh-h910n h.ear on 3 - current price
Design
So when I first unboxed the new WH-H910N Hear On 3 headphones I thought they looked smaller and felt lighter than the 1000X M3. After further inspection, I discovered the truth. Which is there’s not that much difference in size & weight. I put both sets headphones on a scale and there both around 220 grams. The XM3 maybe a couple of points over. But anyway… Let’s get the obvious differences out of the way first.
Tumblr media
The 1000X M3 are available in two colours matt black & a gold tan & the Hear on 3 come in 5 different colours with each one having different patterns on the padding. Some style points for the Hear on 3’s Also, the finish on the Hear on 3 is this kind of textured matt, where the 1000XM3 is kind of smooth & much more prone to fingerprints.
Tumblr media
The way the fold down the same making them compact, However you get a much more premium hard case with the XM3’s and just a canvas draw bag with the H.ear on 3. Something I like about the Sony Hear on 3 is the provided analog cable which matches colour of the headset. That’s not to say the XM3s don’t…but just colour…nice.
Button and port placements are almost identical, with the only difference being the location of the USB C port. The H.ear on 3 has it all in 1 place and the XM3s are on the opposite side. The Sony Branding locations are also different but quite subtle on both. Of course, the flagship 1000X M3 having a little more bling with the rose gold trim and branding on the band.
Tumblr media
The outer NC mics are in the same spot on the backs of the ear-cups. But the forward and back NC mics are slightly closer together on the Hear on 3’s just behind the hanger. The location of the voice call might appears to be in a better spot on the Hear on 3…a little be closer than the XM3. We’ll test that out un a min.
The Hinges and the Headband with reinforced plastic are pretty much the same. However, there is a big difference. it’s the drivers. The Hear on 3 has 25mm drivers and the 1000X M3 has 40mm. This will of course impact the sound quality and sound stage performance. I’ll get into that in the sound quality section of the video.
Although the Hear on 3 drivers is smaller. Sony has made some tweaks here to help improve the sound delivered by the 25mm drivers. If you look closely at the inside of the WH1000X M3 ear-cups, there’s a bit of soft foam padding around the driver. Whereas on the Hear On 3 there’s just a fine netting & the drivers will sit much closer to your ear. Sony says the WH-H910n Hear On 3 headphones can achieve the same sound pressure as conventional 40mm drivers. We shall see. (In the sound quality section) Another difference here is the size of padding on the ear-cups. The Hear On 3 has significantly more…which could arguably make them more comfortable for some people.
Tumblr media
Usability
So the number one and most notable difference here is the 35Hr battery life delivered by the Hear On 3. That’s 5 Hrs more than the 1000X M3. It’s also worth noting the 1000X M3 can deliver up to 38Hrs with ANC off and the Hear on 3 just 45Hrs. So that’s an interesting fact. This is something you should factor that in when making your purchase decision.
Touch controls are present on both. Swipe right or left to skip tracks. Up and down for volume. Tap to play pause, double-tap to answer calls and long push to wake your assistant. Lets not forget that placing your palm over the right ear-cup will activate the outer mics and mute your music so you can here what’s going on around you.
Tumblr media
Sony have improved the placement of the voice call mic. It now sits bit closer to where your mouth would be when wearing them.
To see if the Mic quality has improved on the new Sony H.ear on 3 headphones watch the review video for audio samples.
When it comes to noise canceling. I’ve gotta say its virtually identical in my opinion. They both use Sonys class-leading QN1 chip and the same amount of NC mics. Honestly they so close. Both are amazing when it comes to ANC. Of course, the app functionality is the same. One cool thing you can do is customize the C button on the Hear on 3 within the app to wake Alexa, Siri or Google assistant & if your wondering yes you can do the same thing with the 1000XM3 by recapping NC/ambient button.
Tumblr media
Comfort you’d probably think this would be a win for the Hear On 3 headphones just off if the amount of padding. But for me the clamping pressure is a little stronger…maybe that’s because they’re newer than my XM3’s…but if you asked me I say the XM3 are just a bit more comfortable.
If you have quite a small head you might find the headband too large…If you look at them side by side you can see the headband is quite a bit taller. for example, for me I use them. I wear them without extending the headband at all. Both headphones fair with for prolonged usage. Yes, your ears may heat up a little in warm environments.. but neither one considerably more than the other.
Sound Quality
So 4 tracks, five different genres. Let’s go. Watch the Sony H.ear On Sound Test video to see exactly what tracks I used in this review.
Hip Hop - So when it comes to the overall volume. They are very both very close to max volume. The difference I can hear now listening to the H.ear on 3 is there seems to be an emphasis on clarity. In the mids and Hi’s. The bass is certainly more powerful on the XM3.
Electronic - Again both amazing clarity. For this type of music, the H.ear on 3 performs well. Deep enough bass but not too much it’s overpowering the rest of the music. However, I gotta say I feel the soundstage is significantly wider on the XM3’s. The bass is more powerful and maybe a bit too powerful…but of course you can tweak that in the Sony Headphones app.
Rock - This has to be the closest category so far. Again the soundstage goes to the XM3. However, the H.ear on 3 delivers awesome clarity here. This is a well-suited genre for these.
Classical - So this category is all about the clarity of the vocals and soundstage performance of the orchestra. The XM3 wins on a soundstage but the Hear On 3 is impressive here with its fantastic clarity…but overall the XM3 edges out the victory.
Awesome Features
Hear on 3 • awesome colour range & build quality • Above average bass levels despite the smaller drivers. • 10mins 2.5hrs
The next 3 apply to both XM3 & Hear on 3 • crazy amount of customisation via the app • 360 reality audio support • Support Hi-Res Audio & LDAC • DSEE HX Audio Up-scaler • class-leading adaptive ANC
WH1000X-M3 • Adaptive noise canceling (XM3 barometer) • Immense Bass levels & wider soundstage • current price cheaper than the Hear on 3
SUMMARY
So ultimately it comes down to you… do you want a more striking colourful look. Plus 5Hrs more power when using ANC. If so the Sony H.ear on 3 are perfect pairs for you. Or is 30Hrs battery enough for you & you don’t care about the new striking colour and patterns on the ear-cups and care more about the overall sound quality… Then you should go for the 1000 XM3.
If you guys liked this review I’d appreciate a thumbs up. And if you’re shopping around you might want to take a look at the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 they’re a strong competitor to both of these headphones…thumbnails on the screen right now. Go check that out. Sony H.ear On 3 Review | Are they better than the Sony WH1000X-M3?
Listen, hear real quick. Today I'm comparing the new Sony WH-910N H.ear On 3 headphones to the Sony WH1000X-M3. I'm going to break it down into 4 sections. Design, usability, sound quality and at the end awesome features. Are you ready...let's go.
SONY wh-h910n h.ear on 3 - current price
Design
So when I first unboxed the new WH-H910N Hear On 3 headphones I thought they looked smaller and felt lighter than the 1000X M3. After further inspection, I discovered the truth. Which is there's not that much difference in size & weight. I put both sets headphones on a scale and there both around 220 grams. The XM3 maybe a couple of points over. But anyway... Let's get the obvious differences out of the way first.
Tumblr media
The 1000X M3 are available in two colours matt black & a gold tan & the Hear on 3 come in 5 different colours with each one having different patterns on the padding. Some style points for the Hear on 3's Also, the finish on the Hear on 3 is this kind of textured matt, where the 1000XM3 is kind of smooth & much more prone to fingerprints.
Tumblr media
The way the fold down the same making them compact, However you get a much more premium hard case with the XM3's and just a canvas draw bag with the H.ear on 3. Something I like about the Sony Hear on 3 is the provided analog cable which matches colour of the headset. That's not to say the XM3s don’t...but just colour...nice.
But the forward and back NC mics are slightly closer together on the Hear on 3's just behind the hanger. The location of the voice call might appears to be in a better spot on the Hear on 3...a little be closer than the XM3. We'll test that out un a min.
The Hinges and the Headband with reinforced plastic are pretty much the same. However, there is a big difference. it's the drivers. The Hear on 3 has 25mm drivers and the 1000X M3 has 40mm. This will of course impact the sound quality and sound stage performance. I'll get into that in the sound quality section of the video.

The best European cities to visit in 2019
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do more with your weekends this year by booking a European city break.
These are the most happening Continental destintions for 2019.
Minsk, Belarus
The Belarus capital has many beautiful churches (Getty/iStock)
The 2019 European Games is heading to the Belarusian capital from 21-30 June. That’s just one more reason to make it your next city break, along with the new 30-day visa-free regime and a restored Old Town lined with hipster coffee shops and cocktail bars. The western tourists now trickling in seemsurprised by how clean, safe and friendly Minsk feels (although don’t expect everyone to speak English), and a room in the top-rated hostel, Trinity, costs only £25.
The modernised Dinamo Stadium will be the heart of the sporting action this summer, while the rest of the city unfolds in long avenues, neo-classical palaces and stately squares.
Flights from £145, LOT Polish Airlines
Rotterdam, the Netherlands
The Foodhallen has numerous outposts of popular restaurants (Iris van den Broek)
Big sister Amsterdam normally hogs the limelight, but Holland’s second city deserves your attention, too. For starters, you can zip across by Eurostar from St Pancras in just four hours, ready for a molecular gastronomy feast at FG Food Labs. Heavy bombing during the Second World War has resulted in a city bursting with experimental modern architecture.

Join a cycling tour with UrbanGuides to get the lowdown on eye-catching structures like Markthal, a luminescent barrel vault covered in LED art, and Piet Blom’s yellow “cube houses”.  As for Rotterdam’s thriving street art scene, let the Rewriters app direct you to the coolest murals.
Eurostar return from £98
Sitges, Spain
Swap Barcelona for Sitges this year (iStock)
With Barcelona so overloaded by tourists it actually introduced laws to discourage visitors, it’s time to turn your attention a short distance down the Catalonian coast. Though far smaller than its famous neighbour, Sitges shares many alluring similarities: a sun-kissed climate, museums filled with modern art, an old town full of chic restaurants and a long seafront promenade. It’s also well known for its pulsing nightlife and a welcoming gay scene. Somehow this place manages to juggle being both classy and hedonistic – don’t we all wish we could pull that off?
ME Hotel Sitges Terramar, which opened in 2018, exemplifies the breezy, trendy coastal vibe with its al fresco cocktail bars and prime waterfront location (rooms from £51).
Flights from £27, Ryanair
Arles, France
The Fondation Vincent Van Gogh in Arles pays tribute to the artist
With its ancient amphitheatre and aqueducts, you’d be forgiven for mistaking this city for Rome at first glance. In fact, it’s the cultural hub of Provence, which has Vincent Van Gogh as its most famous fan. The artist immortalised these pretty squares and shuttered buildings in over 200 paintings. The city’s artistic pedigree is about to soar even higher as construction of a 10-floor, £138m arts complex, Luma Arles, designed by the architect Frank Gehry, is currently underway.
In the meantime, you can feast your eyes on photography festival Les Rencontres d’Arles through the summer, and stay in the newly opened hotel L’Arlatan, where the kaleidoscopic tiled interiors take inspiration from Van Gogh’s later paintings (rooms from €99). The city also got Gucci’s seal of approval, as the luxury brand displayed its 2019 cruise show at Les Alyscamp necropolis.
Flights from £30, Ryanair
Sarajevo, Bosnia
Panorama over Sarajevo
An enthralling east-meets-west vibe is expressed in the city’s medley of cathedrals, synagogues and mosques, as well as the street food scene (order the spicy sausage and pita combo, cevapcici), hookah lounges and souk-like shopping alleys.
The picturesque, cobbled Old Town oozes history – some of it harrowing, as sights like the Tunnel of Hope and Galerija 11/07/95 commemorate the devastating Bosnian civil war. You’ll witness that city dwellers are far from stuck in the past, though, when you head out to join its legendary (and excellent value) nightlife.

The Eternal City gets a reboot this year with new hotels (iStock)
With its classical ruins and grand baroque churches, the Eternal City needs no introduction, but that doesn’t mean an old dog can’t learn new tricks. The Rooms of Rome sets a new bar in boutique accommodation, with interiors by starchitect Jean Nouvel inside a 17th century palazzo (from £75), while The Plum Guide (think a super-luxe Airbnb) lets you book a stay in the city’s most stylist private pads. You can taste your way around Testaccio, the district where cucina romana (aka Roman cuisine) was born, on the latest evening walking tour from Eating Italy. And once you’ve had your fill of ancient temples and marble statues, check out the newly opened museum of early 20th-century art, Palazzo Merulana.

Disneyland Paris, France
Mickey and co are just a Eurostar journey away (Getty)
Who says you have to be a kid to love Disney? A supersonic year for Disneyland Paris begins with a Total Lunar Eclipse on 21 January (the only opportunity to see a blood moon in 2019) and a Star Wars extravaganza running until 17 March. Hang out with Spider-Man, Captain America et al during the Marvel Season of Super Heroes through springtime. Other big news is that Electroland, the two-day celebration of electronic music, will be returning to the theme park at the end of June (sign up on the waitlist). It seems 2019 is shaping up to be one long grande fête.
Eurostar from £76
Belgrade, Serbia
St Sava’s church, Belgrade (iStock)
Like many of its Balkan neighbours, the whole city feels ripe with creative energy, from the vibrant alternative-culture district of Chinatown to floating discos along the Sava river. Watch out Berlin, there’s a rival for your nightlife crown. And Belgrade’s stint as the European Youth Capital this year is sure to see even more attention given to Serbia’s next generation. The city also has plenty of cultural treasures that are worth your time, from Ottoman mosques to socialist modernist monoliths to the recently re-opened National Museum. As Belgrade starts to draw in more foreign visitors, boutique hotels such as 88 Rooms and Townhouse 27 are cropping up to cater to them.
Flights from £43, Wizz Air
Venice, Italy
Hop on a vaporetto and explore beyond the Grand Canal (iStock)
Venice is horribly crowded, a cruise ship-choked theme park, right? Well, not if you dodge the Doge’s Palace and hop on a vaporetto. You’ll soon discover the lagoon actually comprises over 100 islands – some are home to vineyards or farms, others to the ghostly ruins of monasteries or asylums – where local life goes on. Or you could let an art historian lead you in the footsteps of leading Victorian critic and philosopher John Ruskin, whose book The Stones of Venice changed the way people looked at the city.
Martin Randall Travel has put together a four-night Ruskin’s Venice tour (£2,410pp based on two sharing, including flights, vaporetto pass, four-star accommodation and most meals with drinks, departing by 20 November 2019) that lets you skip the scrum with a private, out-of-hours visit to St Mark’s Basilica cathedral.
Flights from £26, Ryanair
Bristol, UK
Hot air balloons drift across the Clifton Bridge (Gary Newman)
We’re sneaking a staycation onto this list, as Bristol has simply so much lined up for 2019. There’s Europe’s first inland surfing lake, The Wave, set to launch in the autumn, and suburban conservation park Wild Place will introduce brown bears (adding to the existing population of grey wolves and lynx) this summer.
The Royal Photographic Society is moving into town, and there will doubtless be some celebrations for the anniversaries of famous local creations Wallace & Gromit (turning 30) and Concorde (50 years). As for stylish crash pads, there’s a slew of hot property nearby, including Eight in Bath and the latest outpost from Artist Residence. No wonder it was named “Rising Star” at the National Geographic Traveller Awards.

What your husband’s watch says about him can be best decoded through this article. Check out three different personality traits of a man basis the type of writs-watch he sports
You can tell volumes about a man from two things – his shoes and his wristwatch. This is obviously excluding the rare species of men that don’t wear a watch, clearly discounted from my idea of ‘men I wish to tell things about’. If one was to put together a book on the art of manliness, I could only hope chapter one is about wristwatches – a beautiful tale emphasizing the precious amount a wristwatch can say about a man, making it an accessory more important than any other.
The kind of timepiece your husband wears is a window into his personality; this is how the world forms its first impression of a man. One can choose to make his buying decision based on color, specifications, unique features, functionality and the list goes on. However, what many don’t realize is that this decision also says a lot about who they are. Just one look at your watch and a room full of people can tell what ticks you off. Standing the test of time (pun intended), Hugo Boss watches have established themselves as the poster boy for timeless luxury and immaculate craftsmanship. The Hugo Boss Watches Collection available at trusted retailers such as Ethos Watch Boutiques is wide-ranging, offering an ideal match for every personality type.
The timepiece your husband chooses to adorn says a great deal about his motivations, his interests and, personality. Read below to find out what your  husband’s choice of watch says about him:
1. The Futurist:
If your husband’s choice of the watch looks like the Hugo Boss Modern Essence pictured above, he falls under the category of ‘the futurist’. In selecting a powerful black leather strap, premium quality (mineral crystal glass) and minimal design, he represents his preference for quality over quantity and a forward-looking outlook. He is a truly modern man, oriented towards what’s going to happen, as opposed to what’s already passed. ‘The futurist’ holds no regrets, a man of few words and more action.
2. The Traditional Classic:
Just like the whiskey-based cocktail, an old-fashioned watch can never go out of style. It is a timeless classic that has successfully thrived through time, impressing generations of important men. It is characterized by its vintage-inspired brown leather strap and white dial, flawlessly coupled with a touch of somber rose gold. This timepiece says that your husband is a man true to his values and his being. He has his priorities right, and respects tradition; he knows what he is doing and where he is heading. Understated elegance is a part of his everyday style, brought to life with an effortless fashion sense.
3. The Social Bee:
Outgoing, sporty, energetic and bubbly  – these are adjectives that would describe a social bee. Your husband’s life is fast paced and it’s not easy for everyone to catch up, barring his watch of course. People love being around him; He doesn’t take time to mingle because he has a great vibe that attracts attention instantly. His strong aura is complimented in his choice for an equally strong timepiece. People can’t help but notice you he walks into a room. This is reflected in his choice for a bold watch characterized by its polished, stainless steel link strap and contrasting dial. Just like himself, his watch excels at multiple things – it boasts of three-hand movement, a chronograph, as well as an integrated tachymeter. Such a timepiece is best suited for a man who is daring, masculine and never sorry to be himself.
When it comes to timekeeping, the important thing to remember is what message one wants to send via his wrist. As long as you’re wearing a wristwatch, you are giving away big hints about your personality without actually uttering a word. You might as well make sure these hints are true to who you are by choosing a watch best suited to your character.
So, have you figured your husband’s true personality, yet?

New Post has been published on http://www.updatedc.com/2018/10/24/dxo-photolab-2-update-adds-image-searches-and-improved-clearview/
DxO PhotoLab 2 update adds image searches and improved ClearView
DxO’s superb image-editing tech hits the mainstream. Should Adobe be worried?
DxO PhotoLab 2 will incorporate a brand new DxO PhotoLibrary feature so that you can not only apply sophisticated optical corrections, state of the art raw conversions and powerful local adjustments, but organize your photo collection too.
For most photographers DxO is probably best known for its Optics Pro raw conversion and correction software, but DxO’s acquisition of the Nik Collection of plug-ins last year enabled it to relaunch DxO Optics Pro as DxO PhotoLab, with sophisticated local correction tools. This new image organization capability brings PhotoLab 2 closer to a fully-featured standalone all-in-one photo organizing and editing solution to compete with the likes of Adobe Lightroom and Capture One Pro.
Read more:
DxO releases Nik Collection 2018 and DxO PhotoLab 1.2
Adobe reveals big updates to Lightroom CC, Classic CC and Adobe Camera Raw
Capture One Express Fujifilm review
DxO’s Smart Lighting technology can optimise highlight and shadow reproduction automatically.
That’s very exciting because DxO is a big name in optical science. It specialises in optical analysis and lens corrections, and in processing raw image data to extract the maximum possible quality. Behind the scenes, DxO technology has been incorporated into 400 million devices to date. It also makes the DxO Analyzer kit used by Digital Camera World in camera tests.
The quality of the raw conversions and lens corrections in DxO Optics Pro was already outstanding, but the rapidly developing features in DxO PhotoLab have promoted it from a powerful but specialised tool into a very interesting mainstream photo-editor.
What’s new in DxO PhotoLab 2
DxO has updated the PhotoLab interface to accommodate the new photo organising features. The Organize panel in the previous version was a simple folder browser, but that’s been replaced by a new PhotoLibrary panel which includes both a folder display and a new image search tool.
DxO has added a brand new PhotoLibrary feature to add image organizing capabilities to PhotoLab 2.
DxO says it has concentrated on PhotoLab 2’s search engine, introducing an auto-complete feature which suggests image metadata matches as you type, such as ISO settings, focal lengths, shutter speeds, filenames, star ratings and more. We’re told that keywords will be added towards the end of 2018.
At the same time, the company has upgraded PhotoLab’s ClearView feature, which is designed to cut haze in landscape shots but can actually improve contrast and saturation across a wide range of subjects.
DxO’s updated ClearView technology can improve contrast in hazy landscapes (top) and in flat-looking images (above) without ugly edge halos.
The new version eliminates the ‘halo’ effect you could sometimes get around object outlines if the adjustment was pushed too far, and can be applied to the image as a whole or selected areas.
DxO has also added DCP color profile support to PhotoLab 2. These are special camera calibration profiles which can be used as part of an overall colour management workflow by photographers who need very accurate end-to-end colour rendition, a reflection of DxO’s ongoing drive towards technical accuracy.
Other DxO PhotoLab features remain the same. Lens correction profiles are applied automatically using the shooting information embedded in the camera’s image files, and to date DxO has produced profiles for 42,000 different camera/lens combinations.
PhotoLab 2 will also have DxO’s powerful PRIME denoise tool, which does require a longer processing time than regular denoising, though it’s now four times faster than when first introduced.
DxO PhotoLab uses Nik U-point technology to automatically mask selected areas for adjustment (top). The mask is applied only to areas matching your subject’s tone (above).
A new DxO website and a special offer
To top it all off, DxO is celebrating the arrival of PhotoLab 2 with a brand new website and blog, promising ‘a new way to interact with users’ not just with science, but with culture, art and technique articles too. Exciting times!
DxO PhotoLab 2 will be available in a cut-down Essential edition and a full-blown Elite version. Until November 18 2018, PhotoLab 2 Essential will be on offer for £79.99/$99.99 instead of the usual price of £99/$129, while PhotoLab 2 Elite will sell initially at £119.99/$149.99 instead of the usual price of £159/$199.

Rev. Billy Graham died at the age of 99. He was known for his charisma, but said “I despise all this attention on me…I’m not trying to bring people to myself, but I know that God has sent me out as a warrior.” USA TODAY

The Rev. Billy Graham’s prolific writings and widely broadcast sermons reached hundreds of millions of people worldwide. In honor of the legendary evangelist’s life, here’s a list of facts you may not have known about the Southern Baptist minister.
More: Billy Graham, America’s pastor, has died
1. Graham was the son of a dairy farmer in North Carolina. He grew up dreaming of becoming a professional baseball player but said of himself, “The talent for baseball obviously was not there.”
2. At the age of 15, Graham made a personal commitment to Christ at a tent revival meeting featuring traveling evangelist Mordecai Ham.
3. Graham held his first citywide crusade in 1947 in Grand Rapids, Mich. The mass meetings attracted thousands of people in one venue to hear Graham speak. In all, Graham held more than 400 crusades in 185 countries and territories across six continents — reaching 215 million people, according to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

4. Graham received an offer to host a nationwide Christian radio program in 1949 but said he would only do it if he could raise $25,000 in one night to start the process of buying air time. At a crusade in Portland, Ore., the funds came in and the radio program “Hour of Decision” got its start. The program is now aired on 1,200 radio stations, featuring messages from Graham and his son, Franklin.
5. In the summer of 1957, Graham preached nightly for 16 consecutive weeks in New York’s Madison Square Garden to a packed audience. He shared the lessons of Sodom and Gomorrah from the Bible, substituting “New York” for the names of the cities of sin, The New York Times reported.
6. Graham was the author of 33 books, including his 1997 best-selling autobiography, Just As I Am.
7. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association started the TV Telephone Ministry in 1980, for people to call in while watching the “Billy Graham Classics” programs on TV and talk to trained volunteers about topics including “drug abuse, depression, and God’s will.” The call center at Graham’s association headquarters has grown from a few phones to 200, with other call centers throughout the country.
8. Graham’s role as a counselor to American presidents is widely known. But perhaps most extraordinary is just how many presidents he has advised. Graham has met with every occupant of the Oval Office since 1950, starting with Harry Truman, which amounts to 12 of the 43 men who have ever served in the nation’s highest office.
9. Shortly after President Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn into office in 1963, he invited Billy Graham to the White House. The pair didn’t have bathing suits and reportedly went skinny dipping in the pool.
10. Graham helped George W. Bush stop drinking. The first time the pair met, Bush, who was much younger at the time, was drunk after having several beers and glasses of wine, he told CNN. His father, George H.W. Bush, invited the preacher to the family’s compound in Maine. The pair spoke about religion, which helped start a turning point in Bush’s life.
11. While at Wheaton College, Graham met future wife Ruth, the daughter of missionaries in China. They were married in 1943, until her death in 2007. After her death at the age of 87, Graham said, “When it comes to spiritual things, my wife has had the greatest influence on my ministry — she was the greatest Christian I ever knew.”
12. To eliminate even the suspicion of infidelity, Graham vowed never to meet, travel or eat alone with any woman other than his wife.
13. During the Civil Rights era, Graham integrated his revival meetings, inviting both blacks and whites to attend. He said, “Christianity is not a white man’s religion, and don’t let anybody ever tell you that it’s white or black. Christ belongs to all people. He belongs to the whole world.”
14. He became a target of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1960s after planning an integrated crusade in Birmingham, Ala., in the aftermath of a church bombing that killed several black children. “The Ku Klux Klan went around and knocked out our signs,” Billy Graham recalled. “The state police had to send policemen with us wherever we went — before my car and after my car. The police were also in the rooms around me because they were afraid we would get shot.”
15. Graham was consistently listed on Gallup’s poll of the “10 Most Admired Men in the World.” Although he’s never been No. 1, Graham has made the list 56 times since 1955.
16. Graham received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1989.

So I’ve been a reader for a pretty long time. I wanted to make this post to ask some questions that talk about my reading life and how it has changed. Feel free to answer the questions on your own blog but make sure to link back so I can see your answers! If you don’t have a blog, write your answers in the comments as I would love to hear from you.
1. What were some memorable books that made you a reader?
I remember Dr. Seuss books (specifically Green Eggs and Ham), Junie B. Jones, and the Magic Tree House books. The picture book for Where The Wild Things Are also stands out to me (it’s probably why I’m so weird!) My mom had the puppet of one of the monsters and would read it to me at bed time. I loved how dark it was. Also this one was much later but Harry Potter!
#gallery-0-16 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-16 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-16 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-16 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
2. Did any person influence you to become a reader?
My mom. I had a very terrible time sleeping up until I was twelve and my mom would read to me to calm me down so I could sleep. She read Sweet Valley High, The Babysitters Club, and the Mary Kate and Ashley paperbacks. My parents also bought me soooo many books growing up and I’m very thankful.
#gallery-0-17 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-17 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-17 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-17 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
3. What were your reading preference when you started?
As a kid, I was very much into books about other kids being brave. I was very shy, chubby, and would blush at the drop of a hat (and when I say blush I’m talking face explosion. People would always point it out because they were legitimately concerned for my health.) I really liked feeling that I could be brave too.*
*and now I’m a crazy scary princess-ninja that is literally the bravest ever and punches with a book in each hand.**
**Actually I won’t do that because I believe it would hurt.
4. How have your reading preferences changed?
Well I still read children’s books sometimes but I also read Young Adult, New Adult, Classics, Adult Fiction of all different kinds– Literary, Historical, Romance, Thrillers, Sci-fi, FANTASY, Magical Realism, Horror, etc. (To be completely honest, I said etc. because I knew there were different genres but I didn’t really want to put them down lol.) Sometimes even non-fiction if it looks cool enough.
My reading is just a lot more varied. College helped a lot with this because even though my book count got piteously low-I didn’t keep track of anything we read in school-it made me a smarter reader. It opened my eyes to why Classics are the Classics! I had previously held the notion that no one actually read Classics. They just said they did because it looked cool or deep or whatever. I’m still mildly under this impression because ahh it’s so annoying when people are pretentious but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy them sometimes along with my lovely Young Adult books.
5. Are there any books that you read and liked that you never would have at the beginning?
I liked dark things from the beginning so that’s out. I would have to say contemporary books are the biggest surprise or anything that doesn’t have magic or quests in it. I read a weird little short story collection called No One Belongs Here More Than You by Miranda July and while I didn’t love it, beginning-reader Leah never would have considered it. At the time, I remember it being very out of character for me to read Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell but I ended up loving it and becoming a big fan. In college I read and loved both A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines and Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Stout and really liked and would 100% recommend both of those.
#gallery-0-18 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-18 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-18 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-18 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Let’s chat!! Do you see your reading preferences changing in the future? Answer any of these questions!
A post answering the question about how my reading life has changed. How has yours changed? So I've been a reader for a pretty long time. I wanted to make this post to ask some questions that talk about my reading life and how it has changed.

Bentley has unveiled the 2019 Continental GT. The third generation of the luxury sports car will makes its public debut at the 2017 Frankfurt motor show in September.
Design
The new Continental GT is based on Porsche’s MSB platform and the design draws inspiration from the EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept which was showcased at Geneva a couple of years back. The fantastically complicated profile of the headlights was first seen on the concept car. Also, the low slung grille is wider than before. The sculpted rear end gets new oval tail lights and matching exhaust tips. Other distinct Bentley design cues include the wide hips and classic coupe proportions. The new model is slightly longer and wider than the outgoing model. The wheelbase has also gone up 110 mm.
The interior of the new Continental GT is as luxurious as one would expect a Bentley cabin to be. Conventional dials have been replaced with large digital screen. Similarly, the center console hides an enormous touchscreen infotainment which flips out at a touch of a button. The steering wheel design is similar to one found on the Bentayga. The switch gear is of the highest quality with a combination of old-school knurled rotary switches and soft-touch buttons.
Engine and Drivetrain
The 2019 Continental GT is powered by a revised 6.0-liter, twin-turbo W12 engine. This massive engine puts out 626 bhp @ 6000 rpm and 664 lb-ft @ 1350-4500 rpm. It uses an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and an active all-wheel drive system. 0-60 mph comes up in 3.7 sec and top speed has now been raised to 207 mph. While that sounds pretty quick, it’s worth mentioning that it still weighs 2250 kg.
The new model uses a double-wishbone setup up front with a multi-link rear suspension. It also gets torque vectoring which relies on its 420 mm diameter brakes. Drivers can choose from four driving modes- Sport, Comfort, Bentley and Custom. It has an electric power steering and comes with active safety features like lane assist, park assist, etc.

Marvel Announces Exclusive Agreement With Writer Ed BrissonEd Brisson joins the House of Ideas writing Old Man Logan, Iron Fist and more!
New York, NY—August 21, 2017—Marvel Entertainment is excited to announce that writer Ed Brisson will bring his powerhouse storytelling and creative flair to Marvel in an exclusive agreement. Brisson, who has made his mark with engaging work across the comic industry, is currently writing acclaimed Marvel books Iron Fist and Old Man Logan. He will continue to write exclusively for Marvel in this new agreement.
“I’ve been a huge Marvel fan since I was a kid. I grew up with stacks of Spider-Man, Punisher, Daredevil, Ghost Rider and X-Men littering my bedroom floor. The comics would be in tatters because I would read them repeatedly, often having to tape the covers back on,” said Brisson. “I remember being on vacation when Kraven’s Last Hunt was coming out and begging my mom to drive me a half hour to the closest town with a convenience store so that I wouldn’t miss out on the latest issue. It’s still surreal to me that I’m currently writing some of those characters that I grew up reading. I don’t know that I’ll ever get over that feeling. I hope that I don’t.”
“Right now, I’m happy to keep on doing what I’ve been doing,” he added. “I’ve been having a blast writing Iron Fist. He’s one of my favourite characters in the Marvel Universe and I think that Mike Perkins and I have been doing some pretty interesting stuff with him, adding things to his mythology that will hopefully be felt for years to come.”
“Ed has many strengths as a writer,” said senior editor Mark Paniccia. “Dialogue. Pacing. Mood. He’s an editor’s dream.”
This fall, Brisson will continue bringing his creative talent to the Marvel Universe with the Marvel Legacy stories of CABLE: NEWER MUTANTS and OLD MAN LOGAN: THE SCARLET SAMURAI.
“We’re taking Logan back to face off against one of his more classic foes: The Hand,” Brisson teased. “To my mind, The Hand’s never really been much of a serious threat for Logan in the past as he has a tendency to cut through them like butter. But, under the guidance of Gorgon and the mysterious Scarlet Samurai, there’s a plan to improve The Hand, to make them deadlier so that they’re no longer simply cannon fodder for the Marvel U. Speaking of Gorgon and Scarlet Samurai: Gorgon and Logan have gone head to head on several occasions and Gorgon is desperate the finally take Logan down. The Scarlet Samurai, however, is a new player in the game. What she wants with Logan is something that we’re going to slowly reveal over the arc.”
“Like any great writer—like Lemire before him—Ed effortlessly reminds the reader Logan’s someone who’s been through a lot of pain…that some decisions don’t come easy,” said Paniccia. “This is a character you need to sympathize with or it’s just another super hero book.”
Exclusively at Marvel, Brisson is prepared to bring his creativity to the heroic, well-known characters of the Marvel Universe.
“Everyone at Marvel has been great to work with,” said Brisson. “They seem to really understand who I am as a writer and have been playing to that, while also pushing me to grow as a writer. It’s been just over a year since I started writing for Marvel on a regular basis and I feel that I’ve learned more from my collaborators and editors in that short time than I have in the years leading up to it. It’s truly been an incredible experience.”
