And this time he’s determined to be there for her

I'm assuming you've seen Idol: The Coup so I won't recommend that one (if you haven't you must - he's amazing in it!) and Chicago Typewriter (one of my favorite dramas of all time).

But, if you are looking for something that you might not have seen, Welcome 2 Life is a fun one. He's not the lead and it's not even the kind of drama I normally like but it's a good one and you get to see his face ;-)

also, fubuki(shirou) feels guilty when others end up getting harmed because of aliea's soccer, but he cant really do anything when atsuya takes over and everyone insists that its fine and that nobody's actually getting seriously injured(lies)

atsuya on the other hand well in his eyes their opponents are trying to ruin their soccer and he would probably be distrustful and view their opponents as the villains so he probably wouldnt go easy on them at all

Shirou and Atsuya keep clashing harder and while Suzuno and Nagumo are trying to help in their own ways (by trying to make their favourite persona win), Hiroto is a neutral force and while relying on Fubuki himself, he tries to keep him together the best he can. for his own sake, or for Fubuki's sake? maybe both, who knows.

Valerie and the Fenton parents creating a support group of "Wondering Why TF Danny Stayed" because I think about this a lot.

All three of them love Danny. All three of them have or want t beat the crap and kill Danny. It doesn't really matter that it's Phantom, it's still Danny. And he still loves them and stays with them (I hc Jazz's own love is extremely tense, with her having a bag ready to get tf out if her parents found out and reacted badly).

Like, that would mess them up.

I think it's so fascinating that most reveal 'fics I've read have focused on the Fentons' innate ineptitude as an explanation for why Danny forgives them. Because, like. Think about that! Danny doesn't hold a grudge because they weren't able to hit him. The intent was still there! More than once the Fentons got seriously close to injuring him! But forgiveness is based off of the fact that they didn't.

And then we see 'fics where they did. They manage to hit him, experiment on him, strap him down and do what they always threatened. And he still usually forgives them! It's not often that Danny doesn't forgive in these stories.

Valerie, meanwhile, Danny blames himself for. Valerie blames him for losing her status and home, when it was really just a big mistake! If Danny hadn't been there, Cujo would've done far worse to the building. Danny managed to do damage control. But 'fics where Valerie finds out, he bases his forgiveness on the fact that she was just angry.

Danny thinks it's okay for people to fire at him if A.) they miss or B.) they're mad at him. That's kind of fucked up????

Contrary to popular assumption, Pope Boniface IX did not retrospectively render the Beauforts legitimate in the eyes of the Church when their adulterous parents eventually married. The Beauforts were born before their parents’ marriage.

I saw ANNETTE CARSON's article??? Their history is different from what I know. If Beaufort had not been legalized, why would Henry IV have deprived them of their inheritance rights? Why was Suffolk imprisoned during the reign of Henry VI on charges of wanting to inherit the throne?? I know this lady's paper is not very reliable, can you explain it?

I'm assuming you're talking about Annette Carson's self-published essay "The Beaufort Legitimation", which I couldn't do more than skim read as I could actively feel my braincells die as I started reading it. I'm never read Annette Carson's work before, mainly because her reputation as a crank has always preceded her (my lack of interest in Richard III also helps). This... does not convince me her reputation is unearned.

So: if a historian with a dubious reputation suddenly declares they have proof of something that upends a centuries-old accepted fact, they need some really good evidence. Carson does not have really good evidence. She has nothing new. Her "proof" is the assertion that the translators of the Calendar of Papal Letters have translated the letter legitating the Beauforts wrong and she (who, as far as I can make out, is not a trained historian), has translated it right.

I can't read Latin so I can't comment on her translation work and honestly, I think her argument is so specious that I don't think it's worth bothering my friend who does. I will note that both Carson and the Richard III Society insist she is the only one to have translated Mancini's De Occupatione Regni Anglie (again, self-published by her) properly so it seems like a trend.

I also wonder why, if the evidence is as clear-cut as Carson says it is, why no one has ever questioned it before this. The Beaufort's legitimation has been the subject of some pretty intense scrutiny, both because of what it meant for the Tudor claim to the throne and because of it's connection to the love story of John of Gaunt and Katherine Swynford. The explanation cannot be "Tudor propaganda" or "historians are too dumb to recognise the truth" or "historians are actively covering it up" because those are deeply unserious explanations.

It also just does not make sense. Why was there the "mantle ceremony" performed in parliament when the Beauforts were legitimated if they weren't actually legitimated? Why does Froissart state the legitimation of the Beaufort children was a motivation for Gaunt's marriage to Katherine? Why did no one make plain that the Beauforts held no rights to the throne at an opportune moment? As you point out, the marriage of Suffolk's son to Margaret Beaufort raised fears he was trying to effectively claim the throne for himself. Why did no one point out that the Beauforts had no claim then? How do we explain why Henry Tudor was seen as a potential threat by the Yorkists? Why did Richard III make no use of this to nip support for Henry Tudor in the bud?

And why doesn't Carson discuss these things? Probably because it would undermine her argument and because she has no explanation for it beyond asserting that the Lancastrians and Tudors covered it up, though there was little reason to.

Her other "proof" is a highly speculative argument about Richard II and John of Gaunt's motives and relationships. It is... not good. Her bias against Gaunt is also very clear, especially since she characterises him primarily as a covetous villain. There's a lot of things here that people who specialise in Richard II's reign would take issue with. It's a very simple narrative that demonises Lancaster and sets the stage for the Glorious Yorks Correcting A Terrible Wrong. In other words, it's the prequel to the Ricardian view of the Wars of the Roses.

We don't know what Richard II really intended when he legitimated the Beauforts. Likely, it was a reward for Gaunt's assistance in the Revenge Parliament. We do not know that Richard was always planning to banish and disinherit Henry (which I believe Carson gets from Ian Mortimer - if Mortimer told me the sky was blue, I'd need a peer-review before I believed him) and that he would have never, ever have allowed the Beauforts to be in the line of the succession because he hated Gaunt that badly.

Here's some things we do know. The story Richard banished Henry for life is only, iirc, found in one account with a clear Lancastrian bias so it was probably not true. We know that he did not attaint Henry or his line - I believe there is some evidence that Richard left the possibility that Henry and his heirs could claim the inheritance open. IMHO, it seems likely that what Richard was doing was using Henry's absence as an excuse to take the duchy lands into his own hands and grant them out as he pleased in a similar way that a king could hold lands while the heir was a minor. We also know Richard had a positive relationship with Henry of Monmouth, the future Henry V, and it is entirely possible that Richard was doing this with the intention of having a Duke of Lancaster that was loyal to him. In short, the picture is a lot more complicated than Annette Carson allows.

The theory, although novel, fits in a certain pattern. Ricardians have been salivating over the thought that Henry VII had no real right to the throne for a very long time now. They've promulgated theories that Catherine of Valois's Tudor children are secret Beaufort bastards based on such poor evidence like "they had a border around their arms!" and "Edmund Tudor has the same name as Edmund Beaufort?!" They've theorised that John Beaufort was actually Hugh Swynford's son and not John of Gaunt's and thus the Tudors had no right to the throne because they had no royal blood. They've declared the Beauforts to be Not Lancastrian because they weren't descended from Blanche of Lancaster and then brought up the story about Edmund Crouchback being the elder son of Henry III as proof that the Beauforts had no right to the throne at all. They happily point to the story that John of Gaunt was a changeling because it means neither Lancaster nor Tudor had a claim to the throne... a

There is not a shred of real, definitive evidence for any of this. All of it is just a Ricardian fever dream of speculation upon speculation that basically comes back to the same old thing: proving that Henry VII had no right to the throne, none at all, and Richard III was wronged!

as someone who has fallen out with people and then become friends with them again multiple times, i actually think fondness is a real important emotion and feeling. if ur fond of a person, u forgive them, u understand their mistakes, ur more receptive to listening to them because there is a deep rooted emotional feeling for them buried somewhere inside of u.

daniel was a coreeeee part of max's f1 experience growing up into the sport. he came into red bull and won his first race during his first race and yeah daniel was a wee bit icy but he helped and supported and guided max along the way. fond. there is no way max does not look at daniel and have fondness for him. whatever the fuck ups, whatever the mistakes, max and daniel have that invisible string tying them together always that brings them back together. and yes i need that in fic also. they can be in troubled water or one of them can be an utter asshole etc etc, but i need the underlying current of affection and fondness to be present. the he's an asshole but for what reason? protecting himself? i often find when that's lacking the fic is lacking for me also!!!

Ahhh the outfits!!! It's truly the best part of writing any AU. A buddy and I were just discussing what a tragedy it is that a lot of Hayden's photoshoots never made it online because he (and therefore Anakin) really does look amazing in some bolder fashions. But no, Anakin in canon dresses exclusively in baggy Jedi robes, that one filthy poncho or his life support mass murderer ensemble. We're starving!!!

I appreciate that at least they stayed consistent with the Sword of the Creator being Crest of Flames-exclusive and, as such, Byleth can no longer use it post-CF and is shown using a normal sword instead in their solo and S-Supported Jeritza ending pictures; makes it all the more baffling that they're still alive despite their heart being destroyed and that the Sothis S-Support exists in that route, but i'll give them credit where it's due for keeping the SOTC's lore consistent.

So I'd say it's not that it's CoF exclusice, but rather something like without a crest stone, a relic, even the SoC, doesn't "work" anymore.

Adding insult to the injury though, Post!Tru Piss Billy uses Rhea's sword, aka, a Holy Weapon that could be used by everyone (human and nabatean!) and even heal non-crested people : Billy uses at the end of the "we will make a world for humans!" route a sword that conveyed coexistence between humans and nabateans...

Sothis' S-support in this route really felt odd, because she acknowledges Rhea at least, but has no words for her passing when Rhea died crying for her.

Some people tried to theorise that this Sothis isn't the one Rhea remembers so she wouldn't have feelings about her... but idk, it still feels dead wrong, especially since Sothis remembered feelings of joy and sadness in Zanado, and ultimately remembers how Rhea is a her kid thanks to the lullaby (and in SS when she "talks" to her).

If Sothis was a better written character and not accidently written to be the most toxic parent in the FE series, I'd maybe write something about her feeling so bad that, again, she was used to slaughter one of her own children (Nemesis first in Zanado, and now Billy in Tailtean) but as canon!Sothis is, I'm not really motivated to do something like this.

such an incredibly funny overlap of interests sdfhjkdf well always nice to learn this is a Type Of Person who Exists. I love buffy season five!! I am very much a spike fucker!! undoubtedly one of THE great characters, him and buffy is one of those ships where I don't really seek out fics because it's like?? I'm actually thrilled with what canon gave me!! I love the slapstick, spike as a lovesick freak, the dark and toxic stuff where buffy used him as a way to punish herself, and all the more melancholic season 7 stuff where they found refuge in each other. spike is like. such a great Device to explore all kinds of emotions and themes and all that... so many of my all time fave eps are very much spike eps. love s2's school hard and halloween, s3's lovers walk, s4's something blue (also just like, so much of his s4 scenes, when they chain him up in the bathtub and against the chair and all that), s5's fool for love (!!!!!!!!!!!!! one of THE episodes, his 'death wish' monologue to buffy and then showing up wanting to kill her and ending up comforting her oh GOD), s6's life serial and doublemeat palace AND when buffy confesses to spike she was in heaven AND all their scenes in once more, with feeling, s7 the buffy/spike church scene.... spike's "all these years and there's only one thing I've ever been sure of" speech likeeeeee.... I get all the issues people have with that relationship and how it was written, I know it's not for everyone, and I don't even 'ship' them in the sense of thinking they belong together or whatever... but I just love it!! it compels me so much, did so when I first saw it and still does now!! and spike is such a FUN character, like they let him be pathetic, they let him be cool, and he's #gender enough that yeah he's very hot to me too. all those scenes where buffy's throwing him around,,,,, yes character of all time. just has a real place in my heart too idk like the emotional landscape really GETS me

sharp pivot to sachsenring 2003, which takes place a mere few months after the buffy finale......... that's as smooth a transition as I can manage yeah. thematic overlap between btvs and motogp question mark. the buffy x dawn dynamic is either a bit marc x alex or to a lesser extent vale x luca when u think about it? not just in the 'congrats you've spotted they're siblings' way, but well the siblings' respective statuses in the worlds of motogp & vampire slaying, and the older sibling often being 'prioritised' because they have a lot on their plates, younger siblings as a kind of way to keep them grounded and feeling human, also unconditional devotion to your younger sibling... plus actually all the death wish stuff, surely? the fool for love speech...

btvs and motogp both very much about the ties you need to the world, I reckon... also sports is inherently adjacent to chosen one narratives

ANYWAY sachsenring 2003, I think every detail about it is perfect!! whatever valentino says, I still reckon there's just no way he couldn't have made a move before that - and implicitly he acknowledges that by saying he will never leave it that late again. idk there's just something so deeply charming about that specific flavour of valentino to me, where he's so obnoxiously good he can get away a little bit with basically scripting his races BUT obviously that's only okay when he still ends up being the one who wins. and he gets so much shit for it!! it's so funny listening to the brno commentary like they are on his ASS and they're saying the italian press has been on his ASS and calling him washed and finished and even the commentary is going 'yeah he's been having a rough season' and it's very??

obviously in retrospect we remember it as a great season because after that he only lost one more race, but back then they didn't know that!! and at like. the perfect time of the season too, because obviously that's when you have to go off and Sit On It for the whole summer break and can't immediately redeem yourself.... but as you say, he used that!! it's part of his story now, it became such good fuel for motivation. like, the mistake itself is kinda.... I mean it's not great, but it's one of those things that also wouldn't be a massive issue if you did it five laps earlier? he basically just picks too defensive a line that ends up killing his drive out of the corner, allowing sete to beat him to the line. which - the bit that I imagine really got to him is how dumb it was. like it wasn't a riding mistake as much as it was a decision making mistake, it wasn't his race craft it was just a literal dumbass moment. it's silly!! it's both a moment that shows valentino was maybe a bit too cocky, but also kinda rattled by sete? that man got to him! he did it! he flapped the unflappable valentino rossi!

and it IS incredible how it's now not really Discussed any more, and in his autobiography it's so neatly integrated into his own narrative. like!! it's always the laguna 2008 and catalunya 2009 performances that get me - he knew those were going to be memorable victories IMMEDIATELY and he played to that!! kissing the corkscrew drives me insane because it's literally... he's doing this on the cooldown lap for something that happened LAP FOUR and wasn't technically the race winning move, or definitely not the only one!! but he immediately zeroed in on that element and his post-race narrative is unquestionably ONE of the reasons why that's something we all remember now. he gets it!!

the commentators did fuck him over though lmaoooo... I mean at least you have to say he learned from his mistakes. imagine losing a race by .06 and doing this in the very next race against the same guy

I ended up writing two drabbles here haha. The first one is in the same verse as these other drabbles where sqx has a kid and pm is a doting uncle

“But what if he doesn’t like me?” Shi Qingxuan made another loop around the room. “What if he runs off and gets hurt? What if something weird latches onto him?” Pei Ming’s eyes followed him on yet another loop. Any more and he was sure there’d be a hole through the floor. “Qingxuan,” he began. He didn’t have advice, but he could confidently say there wasn’t anything weird out there he wouldn’t be able to beat up. Before he could say anything though, Shi Qingxuan suddenly stopped. “Is this… how my brother felt?” Pei Ming snorted. “Always. Welcome to fatherhood.”
