Or when Ianto hesitated to shoot him in s1e12, even knowing that

1) he had good enough aim to shoot him somewhere he could easily recover from

2) if he didn’t, the world would be put at stake and they wouldn’t get Jack and Tosh (the two he apparently loves the most) back
