Sorry, I've seen you've got a fair amount of questions and requests for Mihawk and I wouldn't want to pile anymore on you, so feel free to ignore this, given I think it's not what you usually answer anyways? I just can't get it off my mind so I'm very curious to discuss it or at least unload it somewhere.

Aside from whatever Oda may have said about the Strawhats, do you have any headcanons as to what the scents of our good boys may be? (Zoro, Sanji, Mihawk, Shanks, Buggy). For some reason I am especially fixated on Mihawk, but that may be just because I can kind of picture specific scents for the others but not for him. Guess that comes with his overall air of mystery.

Fun fact about restaurant workers/chefs incoming!!  

Especially in fine dining establishments, restaurant workers are typically either advised against or prohibited from wearing strong perfumes and colognes. It can interfere with both the kitchen staff's ability to cook and the guests' dining experience, since so much of taste comes from your sense of smell.

So fresh, light scents are what he leans toward.

Something along the line of grapefruit and negroli, just very light but still sophistocated.

Maybe with a little herbaceous hint of fresh parsley or basil, but very light. Definitely not oregano, oregano is for savages.

Overall light and flirty, because that's Sanji.

Zoro

Earthy, woody notes. Not just because he got lost in the woods—

No, but I'm getting cedar wood, sandalwood, maybe a hint of leather. 

On the subtler side, I guess you could say more laid back scents.

Just very earthy, not too bold, more noticeable up close.

Shanks

Rum and questionable decisions.

No really though, definitely on the bolder side, there's nothing about him that isn’t bold.

I'm getting smokey, strong notes of leather and musk (particularly dragon's blood resin, one of my absolute favorite incense scents not self-projecting I swear), underlying notes of spice.

Just overall very bold, with the full intention of drawing you in for more.

Mihawk

Wine. He smells like wine. And murder.

Also on the bolder side for him, but not as bold. Bit more balanced, not quite as in-your-face.

High notes of spices like anise, cardamom, corriander seed, with lighter sour citrus notes such as bergamot to balance it out.

Just overall very refined and sophistocated, sort of casually seductive.

Buggy

He's a cucumber melon kinda girl.

Not even joking, straight Bath & Body Works.

Maybe even cotton candy, or he just grabs your perfume as a joke and ends up kinda digging it, who knows?

It's Buggy, though, so definitely on the flashy side.

Strong citrus and fruit notes in general. I really wasn't kidding about the possibility of cucumber, but maybe lemon zest, coconut, I'm getting very tropical vibes.

Maybe with fresh green/herb notes like bayleaf or tarragon.

I love the perfume HCs you did for Romeo and Subaru!! What specific colognes do you think they'd use? I was looking at perfumes the other day and now I can't imagine Romeo wearing anything other than Jazz Bar by Maison Margiella, for obvious reasons lol. He would wear the hell out of oriental notes too though, I bet he has different colognes for every season and they're all really complex (but only moderately intense) blends from high-end brands. Whereas Subaru seems like he'd the type to support more niche scents from local stores, but he 100% for sure has at least one scent that smells mainly like wisteria, considering it's his favourite in Hotarubi- or maybe, that means he wouldn't actually want to wear it too often, since he wouldn't want to desensitise himself? Either way, from what I've read, traditional perfume is a rly big thing in Japan comparable to tea ceremony and flower arrangement (it's really fascinating so I recommend searching it up if you're interested) so it's entirely likely that he even comes up with his own combinations! He probably has a few nioi-bukuro too, which are these really cute mini embroidered scent pouches that are kept inside clothes. Sorry that this is so long, there's just so much to think about :')

What perfume I'd think they'd wear(Romeo and Subaru)

Ooh this was interesting! I'm don't know much about perfume/cologne but this was fun. I did do some research of my own and picked out some that I'd think they'd wear. Romeo has actual perfume since I'd think he'd wear high brand/popular scents. Since I believe Subaru would shop/commission smaller stores, I put more about what kinda scents he'd wear rather than a specific brand. I do see him making his own nioi-bukuro, and he uses it to make his favorite scents.

I do think he'd wear bold scents, and those high brand cologne and perfumes. 

Like you said he'd probably mostly wear Jazz Bar.

I could also see him wearing Armani Code by Giorgio Armani. It's an oriental perfume with a more citrus note, but it also has smokey and wooden undertones.

I feel like he'd wear Touch by Burberry occasionally. It’s more of a blend between spicy, aquatic, and woody scents.

Dylan Blue by Versauce is another one I’d see him use, though every once in a blue moon. It's a bit more in the aquatic scent but it also has a bit of spice and woodyness.

He'd also wear Obsession by Calvin Klein. It's another citrus scent that uses woody and spice undertones. I’d think he'd wear more often than some.

I’d see him wearing a softer scent. He'd wear Japanese style scents rather than any other kind. He also seems like the character to prefer floral or nature scents.

He'd occasionally wear wisteria, definitely doesn't want to be desensitized. 

He probably commissioned a smaller store to make a cherry blossom or wisteria perfume. 

On the days he'd want to do a tea ceremony, he'd wear a aloeswood or sandalwood scent.

Since nioi bukuro is often scented with incense fragrances, he'd probably have a sandalwood or aloeswood one.

If you had to buy each of the bayverse turtles a candle, which scent would you get for them? Also what are you Mr fav candle scents this I must know mine are anything vanilla or bergamot.

It's just me screaming about the primaniac perfume that came in. Ignore me.

Ignore the fact that I can never seem to get the lids back on properly where it isn't slanted. ANYWAYS!

IT CAME IN!!!! This is the Gokudera perfume where reviews have stated it smells like smoke and hospital. After reading that, you know my ass had to buy it -- for science.

In comparison to the TYL Hibari perfume, you REALLY smell the musk in this one. I think I can somewhat understand the 'smoke' smell that people were referencing. It's definitely not cigarette smoke, but it doesn't have that charred smell from a burning fire either.

To me, it has more of a subtle smell that you may get from the ashes of say-- incense sticks being burnt? Perhaps because perfumes are alcohol based, I can pick up on something that smells a bit antiseptic, which could be where the 'hospital' smell is coming from that reviews talked about.

The top notes are lemon, orange, and bergamot, which are all citrus smells, and I do smell it, I think. There is a quick tart/sweet kind of smell and then you smell the secondary notes which are floral, which gives it a more pleasant and soft scent. I think the first notes being citrus gives it a harsh kick at first which then gives way to the softer notes of the florals. It say last notes be musk and i'm like bruh--- it's mostly musk what you mean. LOLOL

The last notes are Amber, Sandalwood, Patchouly, and Vanilla and I might smell the sandalwood, not sure about the rest.

I think the reviews also said that it has a masculine and tough kind of smell to it. Harsh, but still a nice smell. It is very fitting for Gokudera, and I agree.

I'm too lazy to look for the previous post, but let's go over Hibari again using pictures I took last time.

As noted, this one has wayyy less musk than Gokudera's lololol. It's definitely more on the subtle side. I find it kinda funny because it's almost like Gokudera wants to assault your nose and then be calm. (Eye of the storm? NAY nose of the storm in this case). Hibari's is very soft and subtle.

The reviews be like: it smells of Japan. These are Japanese reviews, by the way. One said that it smells of high quality joss-sticks, and I can definitely pick up what they're talking about. It has a very similar smokey kind of smell to Gokudera's, but it's a lot subtler. It's very soft. To me, it gives me the vibe of smelling clean, and fresh air of an open field. Just- freedom.

Top notes are Lime, Mandarin, Eucalyptus, Pear. I def pick up the eucalyptus and I think pear. There is the most subtle sweetness to the scent, but it's also got a spicey kick to the scent as well. Which is likely coming from the middle notes: Cedar Leaf, Nutmeg, Clove, Lily, Heliotrope. I do smell a bit of floral, which is probably where the lily came in. The last notes are Sandalwood, Amber, Cedarwood, Patchouly, Oakmoss- and sandalwood, amber, and cedarwood was in Gokudera's as well, which is likely why i'm picking up a similar 'smoke' kind of smell to it. Which, cloud... smoke... I get it.

So the reviews basically say it's a calm and cool kind of scent. A smell that could totally seduce you on a busy train and LOLOLOL I'M NOT GONNA LIE BY DISAGREEING!

The Haru perfume. Now, I have to preface this is a perfume bottle from someone who bought it likely years ago because as far as I know, the Haru perfume didn't restock from initial release. This means that a lot of the scent from the perfume may have gotten weaker.

Still, I can try to smell it. Top notes are: Lemon, Cassis, Bergamot. You REALLY do smell the citrus in the lemon for sure and the bergamot. Cassis if I recall was like an alcohol, which- I won't be that surprised by considering perfumes are mostly alcohol based so.. yeah... all of them will have a scent to it. Middle notes: Rose, Jasmine, Muguet, Lavender.

After the initial hit of the lemon/bergamot, you are met with all the floral scents. I don't think I smell much lavendar (idk what muguet smells like) but I do get the rose and jasmine. Last notes are: Musk, Amber, Woody, Peach. I do think I smell the peach, which makes the lemon smell a bit less punch-y in comparison to the way it was used in Gokudera's perfume. (both have lemon and bergamot as top notes)

So overall, Haru's has a feel of smelling of flowers and also citrus, which fits the general vibe of what I HC'ed for her. I do like to think that sometimes she's got vanilla if she was baking as well. It's a soft smell, and it's got a clean kind of smell to it for a lack of better terminology.

Hibari's was also a clean sort of smell as well. Gokudera's def is not a 'clean' smell. NOT to be understood as it being a dirty smell, no, it's more so... that a lot of the scents kinda mesh and almost fight for dominance? Kind of hard to pick out what a dominant smell is or pick out what it is that you smell. So, as it's not so easy to pick apart, it's more... cluttered of a scent?

I got the perfumes for vanity and science. Oh, this is also for: so this is basically how I envision how Gokudera and Hibari smell if I ever thread with them AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

She still sometimes does but only on special occasions or date nights, but more often than not she smells like her shampoo (some kind of mysterious floral scent that can't be identified but is pleasant nonetheless), deodorant (something basic like powder fresh or just the hopelessly vague "regular"), and mint and baking soda from her toothpaste. She reasons that she's trying not to have a signature scent when she goes hunting, even if it's already in her blood, she figures it better not to add some distinctive perfume as well.

Willow: Sooo...I know by canon she smells like strawberries which. Fine okay (kinda irritates me tho cos there's a part of me that's like, it's cos she's a red head, huh?). The tyrant god cast Osiandos into Hell where he would become a demon with the other deities who had rebelled against him. In Hell, Osiandos became recruited into Lucifer’s kingdom and helps in teaching wisdom. All of this being cast aside by our oppressors has gradually led to people losing a sense of purpose. So he says that we must seek out the weeds, both within us and around us, and destroy feelings of fear, regret, sadness, and also overcome these oppressors. He also has told of how humans have made a grave mistake of idolizing logic, since logic is a tool and should not be held to such high regards. Logic must be held in balance with both the heart and spirit; for if a person lacks connection to just one of these, they fall apart inside. Logic is reasoning that guides the heart, the heart fuels the reasoning; the spirit is what shows us that there is more to existence than the physical and we are all meant for something more. Please please please, customize this to You! This is not a strict set of rules where if you don’t have Exactly all the ingredients i used it won’t work. No no no, that’s not what this is about. Do what feels right (in terms of methods and ingredients) to you. This is meant to be inspirational, not something you should follow right down to the “T”. Maybe what I did or used resonates with you. Maybe you think it makes no sense. Adapt it to your style, to your current resources.

My first time trying spells was a disaster because I was putting way too much pressure on myself for it to be Perfect and Exact. This time, I just was like you know I’m just gonna take it casually and do what makes sense to me, and I’m very pleased with how it turned out. Believe!

But I said fuck it. Wednesday starts with W, so does witch. Waxing moon? Attracting protection. Close enough for me!!! Like I said, your spell can still work even if you don’t abide by stringent standards.

Ingredients:

Majority of these items I got at the 99 cent store. A handful from Safeway. A couple from a local metaphysical shop. Comment which item if you would like to know specifically where I got it.

Solids/Other:

Jar

Jelly Beans! (Represents my partner, who I affectionately refer to as bean)

Coffee beans (protection, strength, and beans again)

Mediterranean Sea salt (protection)

Sand and sea shells (protection; I’m first and foremost a Christian witch, but secondarily I would say I’m a sea witch)

Teeth!!! (Strength, protection; one was mine from my wisdom tooth surgery, the others came from....you know “gold mining” ? In California you pay for a bag of dirt and it’ll have some cheap crystals in it? There’s a “paleontology” version with teeth)

White/brown/black (all correspond to protection—at least to me anyway) candle wax to seal

Black crystals for protection; I used some Smokey quartz pebbles. Other examples include howlite (even though it’s white), obsidian, hematite, and clear quartz can be used for any purpose/substitution.

Black salt—normal (or any) salt grinded together with the ashes of incense (in my case myrrh) for protection

Liquids

Lemon juice (represents my partner, who’s obsessed with lemonade)

Myrrh (protection)

Frankincense (protection)

Sandalwood (protection)

Dragons blood (protection)

Herbs

Bay leaf: “*partner’s name* is safe”

A smidge of basil, I believe? For protection

What I did:

Condensed version: cleanse, combine, seal.

Tangent version:

I began by cleansing. My methods include:

I blow bubbles. I don’t know why I just do.

I also burned myrrh incense. I also burned sage (from my garden) and lavender and Palo santo wood (purchased before I knew it was endangered, sorry).

I also use music. I highly recommend the app Calm. It’s free (there’s the option to pay a ton for a premium version but I get by with the free). It has beautiful meditation songs and nature melodies.

I cleansed the space and then all of my tools. I say “I banish all negativity and only love light and warmth can remain.” I thank my tools for their use.

I happened to go in the order of the categories above.

The quantity/amount is irrelevant or at least it was to me. Do what feels right

Seal with wax

Are you like me and can’t fucking wait for entire candles to burn down??? Tilt them sideways so the flame melts the wax and it drips down better. Let it pool till the lid is covered, then begin to drip the wax along the edge of the lid so it spills over.

Birthday candles melt even faster if you hold a lighter to the candle below the flame. Don’t be an idiot like me—stick the candle Onto the lid Before you light it.

Charge.

I shook it, kissed it, and set it on top of my case of black crystals. Then I accidentally pricked my finger from a crystal shard so I figured what the heck might as well put it to use so I smeared my blood on it, do ya thing blood cells.

I prayed, cause you know, I’m a Christian witch. I was like hey god. I ask that you please protect my partner and keep them safe. Please consider this spell jar an elaborate prayer, a physical representation of my prayer. I believe you’re okay with this because there’s nothing sinful about wanting/trying to keep someone safe. I also believe that you do not take issue with me using the power You Yourself gave me, and the correspondences You gave my tools, in order to help myself.

Miscellaneous notes

I wear four necklaces; one represents my craft, one represents my partner, one represents my dog, one represents my god.

My space had various candles and mood lighting, and a giant mess of all my witchy items and tools.

Importantly, I used dragons. My incense burner is a dragon statue and I have a small dragon fountain. In addition to small dragon figurines. Dragons are very relatable to me, and to me they represent protections. I’m not otherkin nor I worship them, but I’m quite fond of them and what they represent. For a Christian touch, I also used a candle of saint Mary also from the 99 cent store.

I didn’t caste a circle or write everything down in my BOS because I can Never Remember to 🙃 and that’s okay

What does each of your muses smell like? What is their favorite scent in general?

So fun! Okay, so... Lily

Lily doesn’t care for overly-strong scents, so tends to shy away from perfumes or body oils. Instead, she smells very soft and floral like her rose hip soap and honeysuckle shampoo. Clean and simple. She also almost always has the faint scent of some kind of tea around her, her favorite addiction. 

Her favorite scent of all time is that smell of cool summer rain hitting sun-warmed concrete. It immediately brings flashes back of summer thunderstorms her mother and father had to practically drag her out of when she was a child. She relates the scent with renewal, of the rain washing everything away and offering a fresh start. 

Azalea

Azalea leans more toward essential oils diluted with a bit of water rather than heavy and cloying perfume. Her go-to mix is a dab of orange blossom oil and a dab of jasmine, just a little behind her ears and at the hollow of her throat. Sometimes she’ll throw a little sandalwood into the mix if she’s looking for something a little warmer.

Azalea is fond of the smell of fresh-cut roses. Her mother would always have them in their garden and vases of the brilliant red blooms scattered around the house, much to her father’s dismay who thought them silly, frivolous. After her mother passed there were no more roses, but they still always give her a safe calm feeling. She keeps them around her apartment now. She makes it a priority to have them around her.

Delaney

Delaney can’t wear scents while on the job at the hospital in the event her patients might have an allergy. While working and right after she leaves work, there’s this clinical clean scent around her - Antiseptic and soapy from washing her hands obsessively throughout the day. On her off days, she prefers something a bit sultry. Her latest obsession is Shalimar by Guerlain. It’s has notes of burgamot, vanilla, smokey incense, and iris.

Her favorite scents are fresh cut grass and the clean breezy scene of the woods near her childhood home in Scotland.

Cassidy

Cassidy smells like vanilla and honey, warm and homey, combined with just the faintest touch of leather from her riding gear (she rides a motorcycle). She’s a busy woman, married to her work, and doesn’t have time to worry about too fancy of a perfume collection. 

Cassidy’s favorite scent is the Bath & Body Works Leaves candle. It gives her fall vibes instantly no matter what time of the year it is. She’d live in an eternal state of fall if she could.
