lol sorry for ignoring this i fr couldn't figure out how I wanted to word this and it requires some context for my world building which idk if anyone cares abt but whatever I'm gonna pop off

summary of the magic system is that there r 3 types of magic, innate, holder and patron, they r all v self explanitory

script magic is innate, it is also the overall category for any magic that deals with the actually written symbols of magic (curse and rune magic r both branches of script magic basically)

And for context in my rewrite I have it so fairies r the ones who gift humans with magic to begin with and eventually people started being born with like pointy ears and higher affinity for magic and thats how the pixie race was made

its a pretty common form of magic

ok onto levy specific

my idea for levy is that shes half pixie half hybrid (basically this world's version of furry there's lore for it but that's all u need to know for now)

ANYWAY

All this to say that levy is a very skilled wizard with a love for books and reading and by the time canon starts she's basically the best script mage around, mainly bc she experiments with offensive script magic where as before the magic type was usually reliant on someone else with a more offensive type

This is because script mages need to actually write out the runes and symbols with some kind of Wand, which takes a sec to set up and even then its hard to hurt someone with a word if they have time to move, this also differentiates it from curse magic, which is entirely oral and is overall less refined (most of the time but ill talk abt that if I talk abt freed lol)

Like it's much easier to use a curse than to do script bc script is containing a spell within the lettering rather than like, attacking the person's magic core kinda???

Idk how to explain it but it makes sense in my brain

So buffs and support r the most common for script mages but levy is my Mary sue and I love her

So basically because she's mastered so many languages she's basically invented her own form of magic language for her spells, not unheard of in this world since it's also like a form of short hand that can usually tell u who wrote those runes

However this is usually only based on one or two languages since mixing different styles of like, characters? Can take more time and cause the spell to take even longer to cast

I'm explaining this terribly and making it seem so complicated

But its literally just levy teaches herself her own little language to writer her spells in that's basically magical cursive so it prioritizes speed above all else, that means it's sometimes kind of destructive and not as precise but she's working on it

Eventually tho, when they find tenrou island and have a huge lore dump abt Mavis (who is a fairy), levy is able to get her hands on fae language and magic runes and begins incorporating them into her spells and it's the final things she was looking for to make her spells more stable

The pen was something her and droy collab on basically, due to how unstable script magic can be she needed something able to handle the full brunt of her magic to essentially be her arcane focus

The pen is made from a tree droy grew himself, slowly feeding it magic, somehow dont ask me idk, so it could eventually handle levys power

The idea was from an offahnded comment levy made in an attempt to show droy the potential of his magic since in my lil hc he feels like the least useful member of the 3 (which is dumb and he isnt) and levy hit him and was like no u dumbass magic plants r dope and rattles off weird theories on how it could be used in different ways

Context: this was the last day of filming for series V. Midway through working on this series, Robert had been approached about being in the pilot for the American adaptation of Red Dwarf.

The average contract for filming a TV series in Britain is six weeks. Universal Television wanted Robert to sign a contract for six YEARS. This poor man was thinking he'd have to leave his friends behind and live in LA for six years. He was also thinking series V would be the last series of original RD (they thought this after every series from III onwards).

When he went to LA his girlfriend (now wife) Judy Pascoe was working in Ethiopia. She called him, crying, because she was afraid he would get into the LA lifestyle and start getting plastic surgeries 🥺

As we all know the American RD never panned out, but at the time everyone thought it would be the next big thing. I'm glad we got to keep seeing our Boys together ❤️

WAUGH FINISHED S3 😭😭😭

Season 2 remains best season of MASH to me but two things stood out to me about S3 esp... the Mutual Delight, it seemed like Trapper was constantly looking over at Hawkeye and giggling/Wayne breaking, and there were several episodes that were Thinkers to me...

House Arrest not even your extremely good TrapHawk moments can atone for your sins ❤️ IDK I have a high tolerance for bad 70s sex comedy but this one was just weird tonally, it was supposed to end on comeuppance for Frank but it just felt really weird, especially since Hawkeye was under arrest for sucker punching Frank and Frank was falsely accused... Did make me think about Margaret and her deeply fucky wucky relationships with men in power and wonder if Col Reese's seduction/assault of him is meant to parallel those relationships

God I have so many thoughts on The Consultant I need to marinate on them another day or two but really interesting ep

There was also more conflict between TrapHawk this season albeit p subtle... Little jabs, little bickerings, makes you wonder where the relationship could've gone if they'd had more time *pops on my fic writer hat*

I've long had the vibe that Trapper is one of those guys who doesn't know how to relate to women outside of a sexual context and there were two contrasting moments this season that v much validated that vibe... When he and Margaret get stuck in the supply shed together under shelling and have a charged moment and he makes a move on her, and then in Aid Station Hawkeye has sort of similar moment and Trapper asks "How was she" and Hawkeye is like "C'mon a man and a woman can have completely professional respect for each other" and Trapper goes "Pull the other one" basically... Like seeing those two episodes in close succession definitely contrasted for me

Baby me thought Adam's Ribs was stupid so I was vaguely dreading that episode but it was actually really funny and good so that was a delightful surprise lol

So many good "nasty streak of morality" Trapper moments this season ❤️ his unhesitating support for the prisoner exchange in Rainbow Bridge and his disgust over Iron Guts Kelly's fake death esp stand out to me

OR MY BELOVED HAD BETTER WIN THE BEST MASH EPISODE TOURNEY seriously so so good

Check Up made me 🥹 Although there was an assault joke that literally went over my head until it was pointed out bchcmcn

I love the recurring singing surgeon Spalding jdjfjfj The TrapHawk singalong with him was the highlight of There's nothing like a nurse along with the return of 5 O'Clock Charlie

So many good little moments this season ❤️

Final thought but Henry being praised for his humanity not his command was interesting... He's not necessarily moral but he's very humane, and that did give me Potter comparison thoughts I need to unlock and better articulate kfkfk

As far as deranged timeline endeavor this season had a lot of eps that take place over 1-2 days so only ~2 months pass on screen so insane timeline project is officially viable

I also like random little pet names I can share with a partner that develop naturally! My ex boyfriend used to call me “mon petit chou”, which he said translates to “my little cabbage” and he initially began using it as a joke but I grew to kinda love it. During my last little fling with a girl, she was really partial to “angel”, but it’d also change week by week because we’d make some stupid inside joke that would stick for a little while. she did avoid using anything that didn’t feel gender neutral which usually felt best !

Okay so what happen was, one day there was a tv crew outside my high school and school just ended. So while I was waiting to go home, the crew was interviewing students. And they came to me and asked if they could interview me. I for some reason couldnt decline them. They just told me to talk about my idol. I looked at my friend and asked her "Who should I talk about?" "Batman, you wont shut up about him" (She was right 😐)

...So yeah, I just talked about why Batman was my idol in my school uniform VERY seriously in the national language. Cause the tv crew was actually from a non-English news station. Lo and behold, some time later my friend sent a link to the new program where my part was showcased. So in the entire news section, there was just kids talking about their parents and how hardworking they were, I was the only 16/17 talking about Batman and how he fights crime 😭 but without context it looks like I'm talking about the cure of cancer or some shit, I dont know why I was so damn serious 💀 I'm not sure what the program was even about lol. So yeah, the news got pretty famous in school cause only around 2/3 people from my school was showcased and I was called Batman for some time after that 😂 Sometimes random people would just yell Batman at me and I have no clue who they are lmao 💀 I had a taste of fame and I'm still chasing that high 😅 it was fun times for sure

Also pls call me by my nicknames, dear author. You have permission, I kinda miss hearing my nickname, I dont hear it as often now. It's also cool how you had like a batman-themed bedroom 😂 I wish I could have something like that but DC stuff would always be expensive in my place. I’d be a deer in the headlights. I’m an introvert.😅. This is the first time I have interacted with people differently.

But to be in the news would be awesome and your friend deserves a reward. She waited until she saw it one day and said, “V would love to see this.” Haha, I would do the same thing in her shoes. But wow her just saying you should. Oh lord, I would have done it too. Just became a robot. Then afterward like I said that why did I say that. But that's me. I don't like speaking much as my voice is naturally lower. So when I speak louder it's like I'm screaming and that hurts my ears.

I will say DC stuff was always expensive for me too. I did more of save the birthday money and Christmas money and was like I want this. But yeah the Batman theme was great. I always kept a darker theme in my bedroom. And clothes. So maybe that's just me.

Now V you do know that you can dress up now. In the safety of your own home. I have stuff that not even my very very close friends know about. 😁( besides there are other holidays to dress up even if it’s for yourself.)

Now the pillow sewed is adorable that’s something that can be treasured for life. And I’ll encourage you to make your apartment a Batcave theme. That looks awesome. We need to fix this only Batman thing. There must be a way for more Batman stuff V. You can do it. (Unless you are in school or saving money don’t do it. I understand as I’m a student as well.) But birthdays are a day to spoil yourself.

I'm happy you liked the Fluff. Vanessa is different from my other ROs as her personality changes depending on when or how I write her. Like when I first wrote scenes of her after Aspen's death the “Wonderful” Mother showed up. Vanessa was harsh and in a way, I had never seen her as. Well in a way I’ve written her as cold and not feeling anything and that Vanessa. She scared me. Seeing her thoughts in that way was hard.

Now Vanessa would love all the hugs and kisses in the world. Especially with the hell, she’s been through. (All the characters have pain and it’s not on purpose. I let them write themselves at specific times. 🤔 it’s hard to describe.)

Vanessa is in some ways a kid still. Vanessa needed to grow up to survive but she has moments when she’s a little girl again and can be free. After all with her lifespan just barely a dent in it, she has time for it.

Yes, Gracie is very adorable. Her ear was not always like that. I got her before I graduated high school. (You might be older than me. 😅 most of you are so hello 👋.) When my mom brought her home it was more of you always wanted a dog so I got one now that you're older. And Gracie's tail did not go up for 🤔 I think two months. I was staring at her one day and poked near her paw. And then we started playing and it started to wag so fast I was laughing and just happy. I didn’t feel like that in years of the shit I went through with people. Then I think roughly a year later her ear was up. Funny enough it was both but over time it was just one. And it’s up all the time. But If a strange noise or if a dog barks far away both will shoot up, to me she looks like bar ears. Haha yes, I did a comparison to a bat. Gracie loves pets not hugs as much she’ll let you but then will pull away. But if you did meet her she’s more of a pet my butt. Yes, Gracie will turn and shove her butt on you.😆😆 I remember when this girl was talking to me. Gracie pranced and did a surprise butt shove to her.

I don’t mind sharing another. I’ll get a more updated one as my phone likes to make pictures disappear. And the travel has been great V. I drove at night while my mom drive during the day. So school work online and writing for me. Might try drawing again if I don’t hate it. Can do buildings but people not so much.

I mean, if you want gossip, welcome to my tale of questionable decisions! Let me set the scene for you. The relevant players are me, my female friend, and a guy who we've both been befriending. (The setting, mostly irrelevant but must be added to emphasize the Questionable Decisions of this tale is a church group. As in we're all in the same church group. What the fuck at me) Anyways, friend has gotten some flirty signals from guy and is interested but not willing to do anything unless he's explicitly into her.

Meanwhile, I end up becoming closer friends with this guy bc we went to an arcade a weekend night, accidentally had too much, and then had a full on breakdown on how my ex bf almost definitely sexually assaulted me. The guy (nice guy not ex bf, he has no more relevance to this story besides my ~trauma~) ends up hanging out with me a few more days, in part bc I am Not Handling this well. (ha ha, i'm repressing it atm again, this seems like a better idea!) We end up being better friends tho, and I find out that he is into my friend which great!

Issue is that my hormones are fucking stupid as hell and I. haven't even kissed anyone since said ex bf and guy friend is nice to me and I am reasonably sure won't be weird about it. So basically: we ended up making out on my couch. for a while. Additional context: I outright told him beforehand that I didn't want a relationship with him and this would be a one-time thing that I would almost definitely never bring up again. Which: not wrong. He's a great friend and I like hanging out with him but we're fundamentally incompatible and I'm just not into him that way. (Seriously, the entire thought process on my end is that he has proven multiple times that he won't hurt me, will stop if I ask, and is chill enough that it won't need to become a thing.)

He had to leave after a while, because y'know time and I basically talked him into asking out my friend. So please, imagine this scenario. Me and him, having just spent two hours making out on my couch with the full understanding this was a one-time thing, now standing on my porch at midnight as I try to talk him into asking her out while he expresses doubt that she's into him. I've done it tho and he's gonna ask her out tomorrow. This is the current situation as of fifteen minutes ago.

My expectation is frankly that while we may talk about it in the future, bc he is currently only person alive who knows about my trauma, it will never happen again. (Like I said: I'm really not into him like that.) Admittedly, not totally sure on what'll happen with him and her but a legit possibility that they end up going out (and he's already promised me to not tell anyone about it, which he won't bc of who he is as a person) and it going well. Honestly, idk if I really need advice bc I do legitimately think that this will work out fine for everyone but may I get an f in the chat for what the fuck was I thinking. Any advice about the situation will be gladly accepted tho! (Also anything about dealing with said trauma bc like I said. I am. not handling it v well oof.)

ooh your thoughts about pen building up her little spy network are so fun. and your vision of the bridgertons as being like the tyrells is amazing - the way almost every other family focused on is Fucked Up in some way by the lannisters specifically tbh (including the lannisters themselves😭) and the tyrells just roll in w some food and everybody loves them really speaks to the way every scandal rolls off the bridgertons in the end to me lol. okay so when i wrote that ask i have to admit i was really thinking about how the main plot of asoiaf (less got bc got is my enemy </3) is about war completely destroying westerosi society and inadvertently leaving room for the 5 central characters to end up v powerful when they wouldn't have otherwise (jon is a bastard, dany is an exiled third child and a girl, tyrion and bran are disabled, arya is a young girl from a disgraced family). i was also thinking about how the messianic aspects of dany's character position her as a beacon of hope to "cripples bastards and broken things" esp. all this to say i was like "oh pen would love dany" and then "oh dany would definitely make pen her master of whisperers if they met" and then could not stop thinking about it bc pen would be a "broken thing" on the outskirts of westerosi society who had to save herself despite wanting a savior. so i was thinking that pen's family ends up either mostly dead or scattered/dismantled bc of the war of the 5 kings. my vision is pen having an arya moment in terms of having to traverse war torn westeros mostly on her own and ending up in essos at some point. probably braavos bc braavos is home to the faceless men aka the asoiaf spy/assassin training center! i think the combo of extensively traveling westeros in hiding + maybe getting training as an assassin (mostly about how they use magic to literally hide and change their faces, sneaking around completely undetected, gathering information - all v pen-coded to me lol) could leave pen w a lot to offer to someone like dany. i also could only see pen really throwing her weight behind a ruler like dany that wants to cause actual change rather than just gain power in this kind of universe; pen's family being a casualty of westeros and this leaving pen w a particular burning hatred for a lot of westerosi nobles is important to me. it also seemed fitting that pen would end up w an arya-esque plot bc their issues about being ""ugly"" are similar even if the specific ways they don't conform to a societal ideal are different. also i could 100% see portia just ditching pen w the bridgertons/some other powerful family/at court (?) for a while as a ward so maybe when her family is deposed she is also on the opposite side of the country and immediately runs and literally no one knows what happened to her. for fun. i just think it would be funny if they all think she's dead and she just strolls up a few years later in a powerful position under the fucking dragon queen like 'hey guys! how have you been doing? it's been so long since we talked❤️'

it's the way that protagonism means near invulnerability in bridgerton and complete obliteration in asoiaf lol at first trying to assign the bridgertons a house equivalent i thought of an important, rich place like the reach (that's the tullys turf yeah?) but in the context of war that is such a dangerous place i fear they would not be able to defend it. it's interesting to think how such a harsh environment would've changed them because they're so... Soft. anthony would thrive i think, he's so competitive lol. i think colin has real potential for bloodlust, id personally love to see it. Like a jaime lannister type of man, in terms of image. Ben I've no idea what he'd do. Genuinely.... They'd be picked off very badly. But you know what? Great incentive for Penelope if they are the family she handmaidens at lol

This was a delightful read!! Since Naruto was the fandom I grew up with and Sasuke canonically tries to murder everyone several times I'm kinda used to my OTP or OT3 having a few attempted murders amongst them. Also that second gif mirrors the end of the first Naruto/Sasuke fight at the valley of the end which had me laughing at an entirely inappropriate time when I first saw it but anyway, let me talk about the right fandom now 😂.

Oof the idea that Viktor was trying to use past dominating experiences to push Jayce to listen makes this so much darker than it's probably intended. Is it just me or is Jayce kinda tapping at Viktor's arm as V's picking him up to me reads like a tap out / safe word kinda gesture from the gif you posted - also it fully looks like he should have been able to kick V at first but he doesn't which is wild to me as well. The second gif of him getting choked that you posted had no tapping, maybe he realized this was properly life and death and didn't trust him anymore. 😭😭😭 I need to rewatch that fight and see if it feels that way in context but I'm not sure my heart is ready to watch it again. But if he was trying to tap out earlier and Victor kept going.... how much more trauma can one fight deliver?!

Minus the PTSD I'm sure Jayce will have for some time about Viktor's dark period I feel like their time in the void wiped Viktor's slate clean in Jayce's estimation. He's a puppy dog at heart, and he's entirely in love with Viktor. I'd wager Viktor punishes himself for these things far more than anyone else anyway. Pulling him out of his shell I think will be hard, especially if he was in the more dominate role, he might not be willing to do things to Jayce because how do you harm someone you tried to murder?? Both of them are going to have a lot to work through.

But I don't think J could stay mad if he tried. Jayce has either a few more hard limits or is up for crazier things after the fact. Trauma isn't a one size fits all and some people will lean hard into things that logically don't make sense. It's entirely possible he has a hell of a choking kink now.

In any case if Mel is included (I am 100% for this personally) I think getting Mel back is going to be the harder sell, because Mel saw that fight as someone who certainly loves Jayce and at least cared for Viktor, but she SAW that fight and how V was absolutely going to kill someone she loves. Plus she doesn't get the benefit of seeing J one shot V to death (did you expect that would happen? Because I was shocked when that happened), nor their entire crazy 'through the universe' love. But she said "bring him back to us" or something to that effect earlier in the series so if they could have built some connection off screen to lean on I think between Jayce's forgiveness and Viktor's punishing himself she might find it in her heart to also forgive Viktor. Hopefully. I also feel like she'd keep them both in check because both these guys are idiots and someone needs to keep them from destroying the planet because they can't be trusted to not destroy everything. 😂

I think the headcanon of established restraint-enjoyer Jayce adds more flavor to the councilroom fight scene because it would be such a manipulative power move on Viktor's behalf to do Jayce like that-- locking down his arms and pulling his head back, knowing that would essentially give Jayce's brain a hard reset so he'd stop attacking for a minute, giving Viktor time to try to talk things through and get Jayce on his side. It's not just a physical attack, it's a mental one too. But Viktor knows he needs to get through to Jayce somehow, because if Jayce isn't on Viktor's side, he's the enemy and he's in Viktor's way (hence his whole, "I sincerely hoped to avoid this" line).

But incredibly, Jayce stays focused enough to get himself free. Maybe, because of the Horrors™ he's experienced, his sex drive is justifiably deadened enough for Viktor's attack to have little to no effect. And now Viktor knows that he can't get Jayce on his side, the dominating power he had over Jayce is gone (same vibes as Jayce calling out Mel for manipulating him!).

So Jayce fights back, but then gets caught again and choked out!!!! I get that Marionette Vik didn't have any weapons of his own, but at that point, he's HOLDING JAYCE'S HAMMER and could've killed him with that. Instead Viktor's like, mm, lemme kill him in this incredibly intimate way so I can watch him struggle. Also, the fact that he lifts Jayce off the fucking floor????

Viktor is 100% on a power trip. At that point, he knows he's been rejected, even if it hasn't fully sank in yet, and he absolutely would've killed Jayce without a second thought if Mel hadn't stopped him. He wanted Jayce to suffer and he wanted him to feel entirely powerless as he was dying.

from what we've talked about, it's likely how their relationship is going to go and i do like the idea of them going back and forth between friends and rivals and building up that rapport that could potentionally springboard them into friends with benefits ( which could be very.... very interesting c: possibly messy but we love mess ) or unrequited love ( because i know for a fact that koko might just elect to not act on any feelings she may or may not develop on a whim 'cause she's been burned and used so she's not putting herself in a vulnerable position without having someone do it first ).

if it evolves into something romantic, i 100% agree that it'd be lowkey fucked up. like on paper, it's just like "oh rivals > friends > some awkward "will they?" > romance"... but then i think about it and it's like... oooooo we can add all of ig and koko's hangups and problems into that awkward phase. or make a new phase called "don't look too closely" we can add what we discussed about... the weird devotion aspect the two of them could potentially develop towards each other too.

all in all, i think their dynamic would certainly be one with a lot of twists and turns. i think both of them would do an exceptional job of keeping each other on their toes--especially when it comes to who they are as people and their morals. and i have lots of thoughts about the two of them challenging each other on those aspects of themselves.

Hey Ash, it's okay to vent. Shows that you're human. I feel you on the mom front tho. I also live with my mom since COVID started and we have always butt heads. I have asian ancestry and come from the states (for context) and we mostly clash because she has specific ideas and certain expectations and projects that on to me. It doesn't help when there is a language barrier too. All this to say I feel you in that respect even our situations are different. What has helped is me enlisting my sibling to help shoulder the burden lol. Mom means well, but the bandwidth it takes to place boundaries and constantly having to literally and figuratively translate my life choices is mentally and emotionally taxing. It certainly takes away from creative endeavors. What has helped me is taking long walks and/or drives to get away for a bit. And reading fanfic 😆.

I can't look at a relationship between two characters-- who are not blood related-- who are supportive, caring, loving, dependable, open or gently teasing and see a relationship that somehow feels romantically taboo.

I look at a relationship that is caring, loving, open, teasing, comfortable, etc and I see romance.

I genuinely don't have a yardstick to evaluate what people are seeing when they see a relationship like that and it makes them uncomfortable to ship because it reminds them of their family. I don't know what that feels like.

And that's why I ship so many things that people call "sibling coded" or "found family" etc. Because I don't look at them and see family.

I look at them and I see the people who saved me from my family.

All those details! Loki and the reader really were spending every spare moment together for the past 2/3 months of their relationship. It's such a sudden way to end, so that also adds to the intensity of their feelings.
