Return to Tumblr announcements
Hello,
I’ve just returned to Tumblr as a part of the mass migration off of the hellscape of Twitter and I had a few personal announcements for whatever audience I had here.
- My name is Veronica, and I’m a trans woman, I came out last year over Winter break/winter term at Knox and have been on HRT for close to 4-5 months. If you want to see more personal posts about that journey including posts and highlights go to my Instagram Victorious_Veronica.ari/https://www.instagram.com/victorious_veronica.ari/
- I joined a sorority, couldn’t have asked for any better group of women/femmes/non-binary folk who have unconditionally accepted my transness and me being a trans woman in the sorority (which also has I believe trans inclusive policies nationally, and at my local chapter).
- I’m an anthropology/sociology major at Knox, I’m really looking to use ethnography to help build stronger social movements and direct activism to further trans rights in America. Really interested in trans anthropology, activism and anthropology, labor and sociology, and anthropology/sociology of social movements, and decolonial/anti-colonial anthropology.
- I’m probably going to be blogging here as well a little to get over Twitter addiction (I’m not sure I must have left Tumblr for Twitter around 2020, how the tables have turned).
I think that’s everything for now I might add an addendum later or a follow up post but that’s everything that I think might be really important. Probably going to look to find some more anthropology spaces on Tumblr in addition to trans and trans femme spaces on here.

I’m a Husky
As a graduating senior, Cassidy Larkin is an early childhood/special education dual major from Whitehall with a focus in language arts. She was an active member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority and served as a Husky Orientation Workshop Leader.
“I chose education, because I wanted to make a difference in young children's lives,” Larkin says. “I wanted to be an advocate for some students who might not have that voice for them. I wanted to do more than just teach and be someone for these students to rely on.”
“I’ve always had a passion for leadership. I’ve always been a leader, rather than a follower throughout most of my life and wanted to continue that in my undergraduate education at Bloomsburg through my clubs and organizations.”
Bloomsburg's program of education has successfully gotten me ready for a teaching position.
“I’ve been prepared through observations, practicum experience, and student teaching,” Larkin says. “I’ve seen many different environments of teaching, all different than the next. All environments have inspired me to become the best educator I can, all thanks to Bloomsburg.”
“The first day of school in the fall of 2017, I strutted around campus, confused, dazed, but of course I didn't want to make that known to the students passing by. I look back on this memory and clearly remember walking to Foundations of Writing in Bakeless, and having absolutely no idea where I was going. I ran into a face I’ll always remember and that was my professor at the time, Dr. Stephen Whitworth. He may not realize how my little interaction meant the first day of my college experience to me. I’ve changed tremendously from that first day of school. I was unsettled, nervous, unexcited, and trembling. Now, I’m excited, motivated, proud, and engaged in my future at hand.”
“BU has left the impression on me that I can do anything I set my mind to while leaving long-lasting real-world relationships and experiences.”
“College graduation is anticipated to be the journey coming to an end of adolescences. Now it's our time as the Class of 2021 to go onto the job market, to find that perfect position suited just for us. This pandemic has shaped me into the person I am. Never could I’ve imagined I’d be graduating with the pandemic still occurring or becoming vaccinated for a virus that has killed millions. Unique doesn't begin to describe my experience. This experience is one I believe has affected more than others, but overall has impacted the Class of 2021. We saw our semesters go virtual, and we saw semesters be in-person. The semesters continued along with the pandemic, and now that our time has come, it feels surreal. I do believe if this pandemic wasn't occurring, our reality would feel more real. It went by fast, but now the time has come.”
“At the face of the pandemic, going into our second semesters as juniors, the Class of 2021 had immediately gained an added. Class of 2020, my heart goes to you for a virtual graduation, which is something I dreaded going into my senior year with that throughout occurring. Although this resiliency has been built up through the pandemic, we all are experiencing, if anything, this built-up resilience we’ve been given has brought us to be tougher individuals mentally and emotionally. I believe those who are graduating will have a step ahead of others for the bounce back of resilience we’ll give back to our community. We were strong through it, now the bounce back is coming just in time for us out into the real world. Personally, I’m ready for the world to give me the best times to come. My added resilience has gotten me ready for what life is going to bring me, through handling pressures and deadlines I may need to meet.”
“Bloomsburg University has brought people in my life I never thought I would've met. It’s cliche when asked what you’ll miss most to say … the people, but I wouldn't be who I am without the people I’ve met here. The adventures, the study dates, the events, nothing would've made me … without this.”
“The people at Bloomsburg are people I can see myself with at years to come, traveling with, living with, and pursuing careers with. The memories made here with these students have brought me everything I would've wanted in a college experience, plus a little more. They say college will be the best four years of your life, but I couldn't have made it the best four years without these people beside me.”

Greek Life is a great way to decrease high levels of stress and depression. Greek Life allows students to build lasting relationships between students on campus while also providing networking opportunities with alumni and faculty. Greek life can provide a safe place for students to destress and enjoy their college experience. Sororities and Fraternities can also provide students with a positive support system on campus. Here at Frostburg State University we have multiple nationally known sororities and fraternities that are dedicated to service and leadership building.

I’m a Husky
Katie Behie is a graduating business administration marketing major from Macungie.
In her years here at Bloomsburg University she has been involved greatly being a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha, the American Marketing Association, and an Orientation Workshop Leader (OWL).
“The biggest impression BU left on me is letting me be myself,” Behie says. “Joining ASA, OWLs, and being in AMA for a short time has really helped me grow myself. I became a person I never imagined, and I’m so thankful for that. Seeing my shy self in high school versus now I would have never imagined it. BU will forever hold a special place in my heart.”
With graduation getting closer, Behie says she is going to miss Bloomsburg greatly.
“What won’t I miss? This place has everything since the first time I walked on campus,” Behie says. “Coming for a tour junior year I knew this was my place and where I belonged. But most importantly, I’m going to miss the people; my dear friends I’ve made for a lifetime, my boss and faculty who have helped along the way. When I walk by the Quad and get that happy feeling. I’m going to miss my friends, the vibes, and the ups and downs this school has given me.”
Although leaving she is ready for the next step.
“When I walk across that stage there will be happy and sad tears,” Behie says. “Sad tears that my people will not right down the street or down the hall but instead a phone call away. Happy tears of starting my new job in a new town but still having Bloomsburg friends with me.”
She adds, “The ZIPD program through the Career Intensive Boot Camp and the yearly ZIPD event. The alumni I’ve met through networking events have really helped (ATTEND THEM I PROMISE THEY HELP). Also thank you to Mary Howe for continuing the ZIPD Program to really help me get to where I am today.”
