What's your favorite relationship between two NPCs in Skyrim?

For me it's the marriage of Crescius Caerellius and Aphia Velothi in Raven Rock.

I love how they fight and bicker but clearly still have a deep love for each other. Additionally they each have distinct personalities and interesting personal histories outside their marriage.

Chicken Shaman

OK, so I'm not really a rewrite myself BUT I've been thinking about what a rewrite of the Chicken Shaman would look like.

I love the idea of him being comedy relief, but I feel like the approach to it would have to be different than a minecraft roleplay would portray him to be taken seriously. Plus a lot of the humor and chemistry comes from him being one of Jess' friends I feel, which wouldn't really work so well for an Avra or Aphia or Aphara- whatever.

I really like the darker approach people are taking to Minecraft Diaries. Considering it was previous a minecraft letsplay for kids. Because when you really think about the lore it is REALLY DARK. So I want to continue that approach.

This of course extends to the chicken Shaman. I want to see a portrayal of him that is funny but in an off-putting way. In that "is it funny haha or funny boohoo" kind of way. Like the guy is CLEARLY unhinged in the original, but make it less in a harmless portrayal, so that the reader feels as unnerved and cautious as the characters should be by him. Make it so no one is truly sure if he will harm them or not.

AND LET THIS GUY BE A SHAMAN!!! I want to see some wild rituals, disturbing practises, and ominous beliefs. Some true viking sh*t! It would also be fun if you threw in some ominous prophecies in there threw him as well! I love prophecy tropes, especially vague ones. I think it would really set the tone for all the underline evils that Aphmau was Blissfully unaware of in S1 but would soon come to face as her world gets bigger and scarier. Or perhaps just little comments that just so happen to come true mysteriously.

I don't know if it's because I am binge watching Vikings & Vikings Valhalla right now, but I really crave this portrayal. I want to see some Floki behavior from Castor (if you know, you know). I want his mannerisms to be impulsive and erratic, and scary for all who don't really know him. But then you do know him, and he's still crazy but he's still your homie, and you love-hate him.

Mystreet Rewrite: Emerald Secret Part 1

A weird place to start off, but I would like to discuss my own take on an Emerald Secret season for Mystreet. First off, the cast is a little different. Aphmau (who I’ll be calling Aphia) & Zane are still there. Along with Ein one of the villains. Buuuuut there are some other people out here too.

Starting off, Aphia gets a call from her mom (who is a House Flipper.) She had gotten a job from The Ro'Meave Corporation to go fix up an old mansion for them. However, she would be available during that time for a reason she doesn’t specify but thinks that Aphia would be perfect for the job! Besides the Ro’Meave’s are offering a lot of money to get this job done and Aphia currently needs the money since she’s trying to save up to bring her friends to Starlight, since they had surprised her long ago with tickets to Love-Love Island. So she agree’s to take the job and hangs up the call. And we cut over to Sylvania, who places the phone down and turns to someone behind her. She says to them, “I’ve done what you’ve asked my dear. Oh! I cannot wait to have the whole family back together again…” and we get a look at her face, and her bright emerald green eyes.

As Aphia is preparing to head on over to the house Dante catches wind of what’s going on and convinces her (cough cough Begs Her. Cough!) to bring Gene along since he could also really use the money. She agrees and Gene ends up being Sasha and Zenix too. Surprisingly, Zane suddenly wants to tag along too. Mainly because he still doesn’t trust Gene and doesn’t want Aphia, his first ever friend, to head up to a mansion alone with Gene and his gang. So he insists on coming along to protect her. And thus! The House Fixers pack up into a rented van and head on up to the house. About half way to the mansion they stop at a gas station in a small town and meet Mikai, a Meif'wa working the register there. They pick up a couple snacks and head on the road again, eventually finding the mansion.

As expected the mansion is very old and definitely looks like it could use some love. After a small argument outside between Zane & Gene along with Sasha freaking out a little because she left her potions at home Aphia leads them all into the house using the key she found nearby. They find the powers out and Zenix offers to look around outside for a fuse box or something because he’s totally not afraid of the dark. Aphia, Gene, Sasha, and Zane look around inside until realizing that Zenix has a been gone just a liiiitle too long and Zane & Sasha go outside to look for him. The two find Zenix passed out in the snow. They pull him inside and when he wakes up they ask him what happened. To which he says he doesn’t remember much accept a sudden chill running through his body. Then suddenly there’s a sound of an explosion sending the three running towards the noise. They find a slightly charred garage with a damaged generator and Aphia & Gene clinging to each other with a protection spell wrapped around them (cast by Aphia, who had been practicing Abjuration Magic.) the two are thankfully unharmed but it looked like the power wouldn’t be coming on any time soon. Thankfully the boiler was working through! Small things. As the group is recovering another sound sends them into panic. The sound of something (or someone) breaking into the house. The group goes to investigate and see a pack of wolves searching the main floor. They all try to stay hidden, but Zane accidentally steps on a creaky floorboard and the wolves snap to look in that direction. Before anything else could react Zenix quickly grabs Zane and pulls him down behind the boxes again. And is…seemingly holding him protectively now. Which…is a little odd considering how Zenix usually acts. The wolves draw closer, but just as they are about to pounce a whistle is heard from outside and they promptly turn tail and run. Leaving the group of house flippers very confused and very frightened.

We then cut back to the old neighborhood and see Laurance & Dante packing up their car. They had decided it could be run to go drive up to the lodge to surprise everyone and check up on how they are doing. Garroth would have tagged along, but lately he has been very busy with his new job and sadly couldn’t join. But Laurance assured him that everyone would be fine. They attempt to at least call Aphia to let her know they are coming, only to receive no answer. They decide that she probably doesn’t have any internet up there and continue on, only a little worried now.

We cut back to the house flippers, who had decided to focus on fixing the house for now and worry about the wolves later. Besides they had installed new locks so now the wolves couldn’t get in, right? Zenix and Sasha are still a tad worried though and ask Gene if he really thinks they are safe here. He responses with a Yes. But when confronted by Zane later he admits that he just told them that so they wouldn’t worry anymore. To be honest, he wasn’t sure what they were up against. He wonders if maybe that had been a werewolf pack but Zane quickly denied that. Zane had studied a little werewolf history during his free time and the werewolves of today couldn’t transform into full animals like those wolves were. “The wolves were probably just hungry and stumbled into the lodge looking for food.” He says, blatantly ignoring the fact that they had closed the doors of the lodge upon entering. And normal wolves wouldn’t have been able to get in. Aphia at that point walks over and adds that wolves also tend to avoid people when they can. So the wolves probably got spooked upon realizing there were people here and wouldn’t be coming back!

After a long day of work the group settles down in one of the rooms near the fireplace and fall asleep. All except Zenix who keeps tossing and turning as he starts developing a bad headache. He eventually decides to just go take a walk and leaves the room….and as he passes by one of the hall mirrors instead of his reflection, we see the reflection of a tall man with silver hair, damaged armor, and a large scar over his eye….

Teldryn has an idea!

The plan: Help Veleth rid the Redoran Guard of Emberbrand Wine. Take the stash and get paid for fixing the problem. Sell back the wine to the Guards at a premium so they get sloshed. Whilst they are distracted by wine get Glover to divert ebony shipments to the Guild.

Simple?

No, they also drank the wine. Aphia mumed them to Veleth and he's very, very disappointed...in Sydari. Teldryn just... he's been in that gaol 15 times that month for being heinous.

But the plan worked, they distracted everyone enough to divert shipments. No one suspects a thing!

And they both have Ken's attitude about the whole situation.

There may have been arson.....

Sydari stays overnight...Teldryn got to stew for a week.

They're bad decision buddies. And they are both off their face!

Happy middle-of-the-week, everyone! I hope the writing's been good. I finished two whole fics this week. (Small, but still good.) Started on another, while getting about idk 1/3 of the way through chapter 27. That's what I'm going to share today! Without further ado, here's a section of chaos from chapter 27 of The World on Our Shoulders.

Teldryn sat on the edge of Neloth’s bed, cradling a mug of canis root tea. His skin still stung from the constant prodding and scraping to check for any remnants of the blasted Stalhrim. He was still anxious, if he was being honest. It made it hard to stay asleep. Tel Mithryn was almost unnaturally quiet, except for the low hum of the Levitation Runes and the rapid flipping of pages. At the moment, Neloth was poring over a collection of tomes while everyone else was sleeping. It couldn’t be long before dawn now. The perfect hour, really, for negative thoughts to swirl around unmitigated. He sighed and sipped his tea.

To make things worse, Nyenna still hadn’t been able to maintain consciousness for long, despite all Neloth was doing to help her. He’d theorized something about swelling in her brain combined with a disruption of the flow of Magicka through her body. It was as if the rebounded Shout had somehow broken her mind in more ways than one. The implications of that alone had him thanking Azura he’d even survived the Shout he’d gotten caught up in during that first fight by her side. He’d already decided he’d never underestimate her again, but now… Was it a death wish to stand so close to such power? Did that matter, in the end? He looked down at Nyenna now, sleeping peacefully, hair a tangled mess against the pillow, stress gone from her brow. It didn’t matter, come to think of it. It wouldn’t be right to leave and let her figure this all out on her own. She was a risk, but one he’d probably stick by until time itself came unraveled, Gods willing. He stopped mid-sip at the realization. Best if he didn’t exactly say that aloud, all things considered.

Neloth sighed heavily at his desk and swore in Dunmeris, his tone more exasperated despite keeping relatively quiet. Teldryn wasn’t sure how much of a healer he really was; even though he’d done incredible work after the Red Year, his personality sort of conflicted with the basic tenants of Restoration magic. To his credit, he did at least seem rather concerned and had even set aside the Stalhrim to study Nyenna’s condition. He’d even forced Talvas, his assistant, to drop all his projects and papers to help. The boy was passed out on his own desk in the other part of the room, exhaustion of the last few days finally catching up to him. Varlais, too, had tried to help but ended up in more of a glorified servant’s role. He wasn’t really the thinking type, as Neloth had frustratingly come to find out. Teldryn had, of course, already known.

Teldryn did the best he could with his own Healing and Calm spells. He’d offered to go get Aphia from Raven Rock, but Neloth insisted he knew more than any other Mer in a thousand-mile radius. While that was likely true, there really was no downside to having an extra pair of hands. It was just as well…the debt he’d racked up with the grand soul gems wasted on Teleportation spells outshone his earnings from the last half-year at this point. He likely wouldn’t have to pay it back, except in insults and reminders of how heroic Neloth had acted. This would go on for the rest of existence, an inside joke turned into exhaustion in no time at all. But that was just how the old wizard had always been. And to be fair, he’d pay that cost again and again if it meant helping anyone after what they’d all been through, Nyenna especially so.

To Neloth’s other point, Nyenna’s Magicka was not loud now, not like it usually was. It hadn’t been for a few days, though whatever the affliction, it was at least healing. There was a huge difference from when he’d dragged her out of the Atronach’s lair. Then, it had been almost non-existent, barely registering at all.  She was so pale. She seemed so fragile. She’d been speaking in frantic Dovahzul, almost as if possessed. And her eyes… Gods, but… It was too difficult to recall that particular memory. He swallowed hard against the fresh wave of horror. He’d been terrified. He’d lived long enough now that few things were capable of even surprising him — but this whole situation had been almost too much. Not quite as bad as Red Mountain, despite the similar wrongness in the warp and weft of the place he’d felt, and the way their feet all had been moving of their own accord toward the danger. But it had been close. Living in the aftermath of that fight left him feeling somewhat hollow where fear had burned everything else away.

Unnerved, Teldryn sipped his tea and looked at her as she slept. It’d been a whole day since the last nightmare, so this peace was progress. As he’d done a hundred times in the last span of days, he reached out and brushed some of her curls out of her eyes. That power of hers was still there, like a shock under her skin, though dulled. He had hope, though, despite everything. Even in the void left behind by all the recent chaos, she gave him hope. He didn’t quite know how to tell her that without breaking unspoken rules.
