Mimikyu
 Mimikyu (#778)
Fantasmaformidulosus amicabilus
General Information: Mimikyu is a lonely Pokémon, a creature said to have such a horrifying true appearance that it makes those who gaze upon it sick. Some extensions of the folktales say that they’ll even cause death, but this is an exaggeration. The glimpses of its true form that folks can gleam indicate that it has claws and glinting eyes, and it seems to be sensitive to the sunlight. Because of its sensitivity to light, Mimikyu will react violently to anyone who tries to remove its disguise.
Mimikyu average at around 8 inches (0.2 M) tall and weighs maybe 1.5 pounds (0.7 kg).
Habitat: Historically, Mimikyus lived in dark forests and dark caves, but in modern times have come to live in human environments, particularly abandoned buildings.
Life Cycles: Mimikyus certainly come from an egg and they certainly are able to reproduce. What does any of that look like? No one knows! Scientific investigations into the life cycles of Mimikyu are… limited at best, for one reason or another.
It seems though, that Mimikyus can live in captivity for upwards of 40 years, and in captivity will lay a single egg that it guards and protects vigorously once every few years. They may or may not take on a mate for life. These eggs can fit into your palm. When the baby hatches, it is seemingly cared for by its parent(s) but no one has actually seen a baby Mimikyu without a disguise. Speculation surrounds this, but it’s believed that the parent Mimikyu(s)
Behavior: Mimikyu are incredibly shy and anxious, creatures that desperately want to make friends but are afraid of hurting or scaring away others with its true form. Paired with the fact that they’re terribly sensitive to the sunlight, and Mimikyus were lonely creatures that hid in dark forests and caves for the longest time, until humans came along and inadvertently gave them a means to approach others in safety, even during the day. When seen around others, they are always covered by their disguise.
Mimikyu are most often portrayed hiding under old Pikachu plushies, but in truth they can be found other old plushies, too, and can take on many forms. Pikachu-Mimics are simply the most common, due to the great popularity of Pikachu merchandise.
Should its disguise be damaged, a Mimikyu will spend all night trying to fix it as much as it can. This effort can cause great emotional distress to the Mimikyu, who feels that its disguise is the only thing that allows it to have friends, and being forced to repair its disguise all the time makes it cry. Those who go out of their way to damage Mimikyu’s disguise out of cruelty and viciousness, will never see the end of the Mimikyu’s grudge.
Diet: Generalist omnivore who prefers berries, nuts, mushrooms, junk food, eggs, Pokémon food, and whatever you make for it in the kitchen. Trainers, a mixture of both ghost-type Pokémon food and regular Pokémon food should suffice for its nutritional needs, but don’t be afraid to give your Mimikyu some of the same things that you eat!
Conservation: Status Unknown
Relationship with Humans: Mimikyus are not well understood—they are strange, creepy, little guys walking around under the “skin” of an old plush. Many are scared of their uncanniness before ever giving them a chance to be understood and become friends. It is to this end, that in alternative circles, especially goth circles, Mimikyus are most likely to be found owned by humans who were willing to give them that chance at friendship. By most of modern society though, Mimikyus are shunned for who they are.
Classification: The scientific name of Mimikyu is “Fantasmaformidulosus amicabilus” which roughly means “friendly formidable ghost", a name given it to by a scientist who has learned of its true nature… just wanting a friend.

Mimikyu Facts
(@shadow-strawberry )
Tumblr media
(Art by mugita_konomi on Danbooru)
-The scientific name for mimkyu is "Tractis desiatria" which translates to "Tangible desire"
-You should never try and remove Mimikyu's costume for the danger it poses to you, and it can permanently damage your Mimikyu's trust in you
-Mimkyu's line on the evolution tree is very difficult to discuss and classify. Researching them is also incredibly difficult from how dangerous just seeing them is. Since what has been observed, they seem to be a black gaseous form, so researchers theorize they're relayed to the Ghastly line
-Mimikyu have been known to make costumes for other popular pokemon, the most common variant being Eevee. Nothing changes with behavior, though
-Like most ghost types, they don't need to eat, instead just being able to feed on the life force and emotions of other living things. To prevent anyone from getting hurt, you can contact your local pokemon center or league to arrange an ethical feeding plan
-However, in the wild when being observed by people, they have been known to eat berries and foods that Pikachu will eat. This stops once they think they aren't being watched
-Mimikyu get very jealous around Pikachu, and they shouldn’t be kept near each other. This isn't present with Pichu and disappears with Raichu
-Mimikyu are known to be very good at crafting and sewing
Tumblr media
-They're very clingy Pokemon and can get jealous easily in general
-All Mimikyu desire in life is affection and love, and they're willing to overlook the negative traits their trainer has as long as they're loved. This makes abuse in Mimikyu very common, since they won't care
-Mimikyu are very protective of their disguises and will avoid things like rain or snow to protect them. They can and will freak out if their disguise has a minor scratch on them, and they're very big neat-freaks
-Mimikyu are able to store a lot of items in their costumes
-While Mimikyu can breed, they don't breed normally since they can't be seen. Instead, they'll just put sperm into the Pokemon of the opposite sex
-Mimikyu will often hide in toy stores in hopes of someone mistaking them for a toy and taking them home
-Mimikyu are long living and it isn't known if they can die old age or natural causes

Mareanie & Toxapex
Mareanie (#747)
Acanthaster virosaculeatas
General Information: Mareanie the Brutal Star Pokémon, this Pokémon is able to completely regenerate any part of its body overnight, except its head. Apparently, these lost limbs have a bitter flavor and are distasteful. When it stings its prey (or enemy), the venom causes numbness, then an itching that causes you to itch so badly that you want to claw your skin off.
Mareanies average at 1’4 feet (0.4 M) tall and weighs about 17.6 pounds (8 kg).
Habitat: Mareanies live on the seafloor and can be found all over the world in warm and cold oceans. They are most likely to be found in and around different types of reefs. They can also be found in tidal zones on occasion.
Life Cycles: Mareanies are born fully precocious with no parental care received. They are one in hundreds if not thousands born to its parents every year, and their odds of surviving to reproduction are slim. Baby Mareanies have a hard life fighting off against a small group of particularly vicious and tenacious predators. Bruxish love to eat Mareanies and are their top predator at all stages of life. Carvanhas and Sharpedos will take baby Mareanies as snacks, too, when given the opportunity, as will Gorebysses, Gyaradoses, and Grapplocts, etc.
Don’t feel too bad for the Mareanies though, for when they get bigger, too many Mareanies together have the power to utterly decimate reef ecosystems.
Once a Mareanie reaches level 15, they can mate multiple times a year resources permitting. The bigger and stronger the Mareanie, the more eggs it can lay at a time. They start off only being able to produce 50-70 eggs at a time, but can go up to several hundreds in a single brood. Many of these eggs are consumed by predators.
Behavior: Mareanies will hunt its prey by injecting it with its venomous stinger, then tear it apart with its ten arms/tentacles. They are loosely social, but it’s hard to have a good social life with other marine Pokémon when you enjoy eating them.
Diet: Mareanies love to eat the branches off of Corsola and the spines of Pincurchins (even if they get shocked doing it), as well as other such substances. They do not seem to enjoy eating (G) Corsolas. They will also eat Shellders and Clamperls, as well as some sea snails if given the choice. A single Mareanie can consume up to 10 square meters of reef in a year.
Conservation: Threatened
Relationship with Humans: Mareanies are an active nuisance to Corsola populations, which in itself isn’t an issue, but this is a problem for folks who harvest Corsola branches for jewelry. Fishers in coastal regions the world over have been dealing with Mareanies hunting their Corsolas and have reacted in violent ways. Humans have slaughtered many a Mareanie for the crime of needing to eat to survive. Some cultures have found ways to eat the Mareanies, but many consider their bitter taste to be not worth the effort.
In modern times, Climate Change has wrecked havoc on ocean ecosystems, causing rising ocean temperatures which in turn cause ocean water to hold less oxygen and more carbon dioxide, which then causes issues with corals/Corsolas having as much energy or being able to host the phytoplankton they need to survive (coral bleaching), and causes issues with sea snails (another food of Mareanies, and also sometimes a predator of Mareanie depending on the species) being unable to form good enough shells to survive. The bleaching of coral reefs/Corsolas impacts the Mareanies food supply, and between that and harvesting by humans, are now a threatened species with invasive qualities.
Classification: The scientific name of Mareanie is “Acanthaster virosaculeatas.” The species epithet roughly translates to “prickly and venomous” or “venomous prickles.”
Tumblr media
Toxapex (#748)
Acanthaster testapoda
General Information: Toxapex the Brutal Star Pokémon and the evolved form of Mareanie. It uses its 12 giant arms (“tentacles”) as both a shell and as feet to walk across the ocean floor. Its also used for keeping warm in colder climates. The spikes on it are both sensory organs and venom injectors, able to deliver a powerful venom that can deal excruciating pain even to a Wailord for 72 hours, and effects linger for days after. Should someone bypass its spikes, it’ll dish out damage from its claws.
Toxapex averages at 2’4 feet (0.7 M) tall and 32 pounds (14.5 kg). It is the only Pokémon capable of learning the attack Baneful Bunker.
Habitat: Toxapex inhabit the same places as Mareanie.
Life Cycles: It can takes years for a Mareanie to evolve into a Toxapex, and this is no easy feat for this ocean-dweller. A Toxapex is effectively just a bigger, stronger, and meaner Mareanie. They can reproduce multiple times a year, and a single brood can have upwards of a thousand small eggs (about the size of  at a time per brood, but many of them are not expected to survive to hatching, let alone reproduction.
Behavior: They are voracious predators. They are really only social with Pokémon that they have a neutral ecological relationship with, such as a Wailer.
Diet: The same as Mareanie, however with greater stature comes a greater nutritional need, and a single Toxapex can consume upwards of 12-13 square meters of coral reef in a year. Their voracious predation of Corsolas, Pincurchins, and other reef-building Pokémon can cause devastating effects if their populations are left unchecked.
Conservation: Threatened
Relationship with Humans: Toxapex populations are actively being destroyed by human activities, both direct and indirect. With the bleaching of coral reefs (and the mass dying of Corsolas as a result) comes the destruction of much of their viable habitat. In a balanced world, a Toxapex may be a voracious predator but its checked by its high predation rate when its younger, but in a world destructed by humanity’s antipathy, they are at the forefront of the consequences of our actions.
Classification: The genus name for Toxapex is “Acanthaster” which is the genus name for the crown-of-thorns starfish. Its species epithet, testapoda, means “shell foot” in reference to the fact that it walks on its shell-like arms.
Evolution: Toxapex evolves from Mareanie at level 38.

This trip to Hawaii makes me want to do an extended alola pokedex.
Like, fakemons that would fit in the Alola region
Here's the ideas that I have so far:
-Aswole, a fighting type based on anoles. They charge up their long range attacks by doing push ups.
-Goggko, a normal/bug type based on day geckos. They feast on the nectar of flowers in Alola.
-Chickie, a fighting type based on Hawaiian chickens. It would evolve to either Brooster, a fighting/dark type, or Maihen, a fighting/fairy type.
-Parafarce, a grass/flying type based on birds of paradise and birds of paradise flowers. These pokemon are natural enemies to Lurantis.
-Crabaration, a ghost/water type based on ghost crabs. They are responsible for the various disappearances of belongings left on the beach, and they have a symbiotic relationship with the Sandygast evolution family.
-Another regional meowth based off of stray cats to contrast with the OG Alolan Meowth's upper class aesthetic. It would be extremely skinny, and it would be a fighting type.
I'll update this page with more if I think of any.
Or maybe even draw them!
