CASUAL RANT BUT
Lotura could have been such a beautiful ship. LIKE OMFG THE WASTED POTENTIAL.
Lotor and Allura were basically perfect for eachother. I really love their dynamic together, they really deserved so much better. They both didn't deserve to die ☹️
If lotura was endgame, we could have had a better character arc for Lance. Maybe it would teach him to move on, or maybe recognising his other feelings for a certain mullethead 🤗
Let's face it, Lotura would have had a more satisfying ending for Allura.
They both value peace throughout the galaxy, and protecting their people, and an ending of them finding happiness after the war and settling down and ruling together would have been a much more satisfying conclusion than Allura sacrificing herself to save the universe. (Should have sacrificed voltron itself instead 😔)

Lotor x f!reader
Summary: building a life with Lotor on Earth after the galras were defeated, you decide to try for a child :)
Rating: fluff, smut (breeding kink)
Notes: this is set after season 8 events, in a timeline where my boy Lotor didn't die and lives happily with u on Earth. This smut has a plot.
Warnings: mentions of pregnancy and lactation, body changes mentions, mentions racism towards Lotor, my grammar because i am not a native speaker lmao

since Sendak and his army was completely defeated thanks to Voltron and their allies. And with an extra help of the space visitors, human kind quickly rebuilt its structures, combining the advanced technologies of their new colleagues with their own. Flying vessels, space travels and colonies, complex security AI systems and media were a great leap in history.
Not surprisingly, interspecies relationships emerged among the coexistence of humans and extraterrestrials, besides it was a taboo for some people, the most conservative ones, you could easily spot a human walking and a balmeran holding hands on the streets. But as expected, racism towards the space visitors was a thing, especially towards the galra people.
Being blamed for the death of so many, even not having affiliation with Sendak’s deadly army, the purple skinned people were a target to bigotry not just coming from humans but also from other extraterrestrials. With your partner Lotor, it wasn’t different. Making public appearances together, you could feel the reproved gaze of your peers, judging the nature of your relationship as disgusting, selfish. Some showed concern, fearing Lotor could harm you in any way, while others called you an enemy, a traitor for engaging yourself to an individual of a species that slaved, tortured and killed so many in the galaxy.
As the only begotten son of emperor Zarkon, so many wanted his head for what his father caused during centuries, and for reprehensible actions of his own. You were constantly reminded of Lotor’s thirst to acquire quintessence and what he did to reach his goals, the hundreds of alteans locked in tanks he utilized as cattle to harvest the substance. The United Planets Council decided he would not receive death penitence or be locked for his crimes, but he should be exiled.
“Exiled… I am used to this condition”
It was better this way; though Lotor wanted and deserved redemption, not everyone including the paladins would accept it easily. When you established you would not abandon him, they immediately intervened reminding you of what his family caused to everyone, of what your late friend princess Allura would want. You were tired of it all. You loved Lotor and wanted to keep him safe, even if it means cutting connections with your friends. You couldn’t risk having your boyfriend stabbed from behind by a vengeful self-proclaimed punisher.
Lotor understood the gravity of his actions he didn’t even tried to defend himself. But he repined every day about how quintessence drove him mad, crazy for power, and that those moments of madness showed up as nothing but foggy memories in his mind. It broke your heart to see Lotor eager to be accepted in this new multispecies society, but being doomed by his past. Deep in his core, all he wanted was that: to be accepted and to fix everything up. Even when he was still the prince of the mighty galra empire, all he did was for a bigger purpose. He knew he took the wrong route, though.
Four years ago you moved together to your family’s old farm; only you, Lotor and the desire to begin a new life. Part of the farm, including the barn and the stable were destroyed by the attacks, but luckily the house you grew up in was intact, except for the dust and spider webs covering the rooms. Nothing you couldn’t fix up. Lotor is a quick learner, his intelligence was always something you appreciated, and with a quickly explaining of how to use house devices, he became a master at it except for the vacuum cleaner.
“How can you pilot a high technological spaceship and be defeated by a vacuum cleaner, my dear?”
You would tease him, leaning against a wall while seeing your lover struggle to clean the dust of the living room. Lotor in his endeavor would blame the device instead of admitting he was having a bad time using it. You find that silly and adorable. It took some days for your house to be properly inhabited again, with Lotor’s help, everything was easy.
He would wash clothes, cook for you – that thin waist of his looked adorable in one of your late grandmother’s apron, and a few other things. But still, he missed space and missed the adrenaline. That mind of his was always hunger for knowledge and staying so much time without absorbing anything was frustrating and tedious. Lotor in fact would not complain about it, but noticing the lack of enthusiasm in your love, you gifted him with a box of the old books you used to read while graduating; psych, biology, chemistry, and others you kept a special interest about but were not exactly linked to your graduation; history and anthropology.
Besides you were a good storyteller, talking about the myths and cultures of your species along with its advances and knowledge on science, nothing compares to touch, read and learn about something from primary fonts. As you expected, Lotor was more than happy when you handled him your collection. Some of the concepts stored in the books were at least eight years outdated, but still he could have a notion of humankind’s plurality, maybe hoping he could integrate himself into society one day.
Everything was so perfect you feared something bad would happen to spoil the moment. Your days were simple and cozy in your home, and occasionally you had to leave to buy some groceries but would come back soon.
Four years ago when the invasion occurred, families found shelter in the rural areas once the galras attacked the big urban centers first. And from this, a small agriculture and livestock centered community was born. They provided food for the cities near the reagion, and living only one or two miles away, you groceries from first hand.
In this specific day, you arrived home carrying a bag full of fresh fruits, vegetables, flour and some animal products. Lotor was sitting on the couch. He wore a grey sweater that reached the mid of his wrists and black sweatpants that barely reached his ankles, snuggling on his muscular calves. Big boy problems. His starlight hair tied into a messy bun was occasionally scratched as he concentred on the book he was reading. In fact, he was so focused on the book that didn't even notice you comming.
"Im back, love!"
You said opening the door and he slightly jumped on his seat.
"Hello, dear! I indeed didn't perceive you arriving. I was quite concentrated on this book i've been reading"
He got himself together, cleaning his throat before helping you to take the groceries to the kitchen. His gaze immediatly directed towards the sway of your hips as you walked.
"Which one is this?"
You ask, placing the bags on the table and cleaning your hands. Lotor blinks for a while, being snapped out of his beholding state:
"It is about the development of agriculture and how it's linked to the appearance of religious cults. I am quite amused by the first forms of art created by your species, dear, and how the belief in gods and deities is linked to the discovering of agriculture. It is pretty interesting how such topics that don’t seem to be linked at first sight are related.”
He continues:
“The most interesting part, my dear, is that most of these civilizations were situated in quite green and prosper lands, therefore their deities reflected in the places they inhabited. While the people that lived in arid and desert places had vengeful and warrior gods.”
He speaks with enthusiasm, smiling like you have not seen in at least four years. His lust for you was being masked with non-stop bragging about what he learned in that day. Lotor was indeed fascinated by how some ancient human civilizations valorized fertility and reproduction, but what excited him most was to put this in practice. His cock jutted against the fabric of his sweatpants when he saw those sensual statues of Venus in the pages of that book. He wanted you. He wanted to make you his own goddess of fertility.
After drying your hands on a towel, you swiftly turn to your husband, paying attention to his words. But the look on his feline eyes told you everything. The pupils were dilated, shiny like binary stars. You smirk, and when you do so, Lotor stumbles on his own words.
“I have been always fascinated with this topic too, my dear.”
You put on an innocent facade, crossing your arms and leaning your beautiful hips against the counter. Lotor’s hands twitched, urging to squeeze them as you ride his cock gracefully like the goddess you were to him. He licks his lips and smiles:
“Nothing fairer, darling. You are a goddess yourself. But do you know what is missing?”
You obliviously shake your head to his question.
“A seed to be fertilized in this womb of yours”
Just by hearing his deep sensual voice, you feel your core flutter with excitement. The galran prince approaches you, closing the space between your bodies. All you do is to let him guide you onto his arms and give yourself to this blissful heat.
His thumb traces your lowerbelly, imagining it growing as a proof of the seed he implanted in your womb. He imagines your breasts swelling, leaking the milk that will nurture your child.
Lotor sinks his hand under your hair, softly bringing you closer to him and intensifying the kiss. Your fingers travel under his sweater, tracing his divinely sculpted abs one by one. The desire of being impregnated by him only grew stronger and stronger.
He strips you down, taking off your shirt and giving your breasts good squeezes before attaching his lips to the plump sides of them, leaving soft hickeys on your skin. You pant caressing his jaw as he does it.
Then, his long fingers skim down towards your groin. He gently slids down the waistband and kneals down in front of you. Hugging your hips, Lotor attaches his mouth onto your cut, sweetly suckling your clit as you tug onto his hair, undoing the messy bun he had.
"Lotor..."
You moan sweetly, and it sounds like the chant of Earth itself, like the sounds of raindrops falling onto soil.
His skilled tongue dances around your clit. Your legs tremble and if he wasn't holding you still by your hips, you would definitly lose your balance with so much pleasure being given.
And like a water dam being open, your fluids flow into Lotor's mouth and he delights on it like honey. He moans pulling off and looking up to see your divine glory squirm in pleasure.
Standing up, Lotor holds you on his arms in bridal style, you lean in like a dandelion seed being carried by wind and he places you onto the canopy bed, the plush cushion softly sinking with your body.
Looking up at Lotor while he takes off his own clothing, you get a sight of his purple large cock deliciouspy jutting against his pants. It wiggles tantalizing when his boxers are finally down, hard and reaching his lower belly.
With your fingers you trace his abs again, they are sculpted and perfect like a statue meticulously carved in marble by the best of the sculptors. His silver bodyhair stands on ends with your touch.
Lotor gently inserts his large cock in your entrance, being enthralled by your moans. Your cunt is tight for his size, but soon it accomodates his full length.
He moans loudly and sensually twitching his hips, you reach out to squeeze his muscular butt as it recoils and releases with his thrust. Your motion seems like an extra stimulus.
"Stars. May your womb be a fertile field where i will plant my crops. You are perfect!"
He pants, the pace increasing and your bodies sweating, your pleasured noises echoing through the wood walls.
"I am going to fill you up, dear. I am going to make you a mother; i am going to make you my own fertility deity."
That was when you orgasmed.
It feels like you two were perfcetly designed for this, like your bodies were shaped by universe to create life. You bury your hand underneath Lotor's hair, his front strands are falling and tickling your face. As his pace increases, you hold it tighter and beautiful gasps leave his mouth.
"I- i am comming..."
Soon, the river flooded the land and you felt his warm seed inside your womb. Pace slowing down, Lotor remains the last frictions with his cock still in your vagine.
He pants a chuckle cleaning his sweaty forehead with his forearm. You let out a dizzy smile, reaching out to cup his cheek as your brain process the event, beholding his how graceful he looks.
Releasing his cock, Lotor gently pushes the oozing translucid liquid to inside of you again, rubbing it onto your still sensitive cunt. His ejaculation is so voluminous it feels like every inch of your tube is filled up. The alien man leans in and kisses your cheek:
"You were so great, darling... I... wow! I have no words to describe it. You will be a good mama"
His sudden use of an earthling slang makes you chuckle. How can a man be so sensually irresistible, and seconds later make your heart melt with such an adorable, silly thing? This is a Lotor ability, you guess. He messes with your mind in the better ways possible.
Cleaning up the sweat, you snuggle onto Lotor's chest while calming down your nerves after such a moment. The seed has been implanted to your womb, and Lotor couldn't wait for it to grow.

S3 eps 7-9 thoughts below the cut
This is all fresh after the episode and I gotta be up in a couple hours so it won't be fully thought out but...
I love a lot of the creative choices being made! But I think many weren't implemented well, or balanced nicely.
Just! as someone who has deconstructed Campaign 1 and made deviations to the timeline of events and etc (mind you, without the same goal of condensing things for television… but somehow the show has an equivalent perc'ahlia focus to a ship-centered fic?) I think… I can see several avenues of narrative choices that would strengthen the ideas they're going with instead of weakening them.
(My credentials here are 'almost 300k canon divergent AU that converged on a handful of similar plot points to TLOVM', but also the aims of an AU fanfic =/= that of a show. I understand and respect that challenge the team faced. But when a single amateur can point out issues that would be pretty easy to solve and detract from a very enjoyable experience... there might be a Problem)
Ripley doesn't need a sob story, she's getting a book anyways leave it there. Fully agree with @/aq2003. The whole point is that she's monstrous and evil and got her PhD out of a fucking cereal box. Percy is less like her than he thinks. But he dies and she just??? escapes??? IF Percy had to die without VM being present, having Ripley either die of her wounds right after or be unable to flee and get torn to shreds by them would have been excellent.
On that note - only Vex and Cass seem to show strong emotion about his death. Keyleth's supposed to be his best friend, and he and Grog were close this season, but. Well, not like we have any platonic relationships. Everyone's just Kinda Sad.
MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE OF THE MUSIC OVER PERCY'S DEATH HUH. Flashbacks to watching Vampire Diaries as a teenager and pop songs coming on over the end-of-episode drama.
Again just. All the platonic, non-familial (Pike n Grog count. to me. buddies <3) relationships are so scant, which is especially hard on characters who lean on that so hard! Grog and Keyleth especially are hurt by this. Does Keyleth have a single conversation (not quip, conversation) that isn't with Vax? And in group contexts she only loudly brings up her distrust of Raishan without any of the solid backbone it has in fact. (Also her going from Raishan was right last time we should trust her now / She betrayed us! Knew it! / oh maybe she didn't and I should apologize. girl. come on. please)
I have Concerns about 'late Game of Thrones teleportation' syndrome happening here. Scanlan goes from Wildemount back to Whitestone (which are completely different continents) with no explanation. Kash and Zahra make it to Emon (again, different continent to Issylra) just in the nick of time. Which, sure, would take a couple of days to carve Percy a nice likeness (but you have a druid who can manipulate stone right there), and if Kash and Zahra changed their minds and set out as soon as Vax talked to them they might make it! But uh. There's a lot of transport that's omitted, while the scenes give the impression everything is happening within a short period of time. And a lot of these conversations are one-on-ones with the relevant characters without acknowledging they couldn't be there without magical transport. Where is Allura or Gilmore or Keyleth in the back of these shots twiddling their thumbs 'hey can we teleport to the next person on our HELP US list'?
IDK what's going on with Kash. He's likely gonna be used as a lead-in to Something to rez Percy (and him?) but. That quick buildup of him being too carefree to getting smushed was very transparent and Zahra's grief didn't feel earned (though it WAS baller. yes they made them bleed girl <3).
The fact Vax didn't ask him At All about the resurrection ritual in the Tomb stuns me tho. You think Vax remembered the offhand comment Kash made about the body needing to be warm while his sister was dead? We as an audience could have used a reminder, and Vax too. Because anyone who Doesn't remember this one line from S2 is Extra frustrated at everyone for being stupid.
Raishan or Ripley being moved to be the 'Vox Machina, united, with all their Vestiges' fight is... hmn. You could argue Raishan has solid buildup (what with the cameo in Brimscythe's lair), and it does follow campaign canon. She lacks the devastating power to justify the use of all the Vestiges (tbh given Thordak it might feel like a curbstomp unless her necromantic plans are successful)... but I could see it working. But why the fuck has Ripley escaped A THIRD TIME. Percy even duped her twice! How many times are we gonna do that song and dance?
If anything, I'd have moved some Ripley stuff here. If she escapes so be it but VM putting the fate of the world on hold to avenge their friend, THEN have Percy be back for Thordak, would be tasty.
... wait does this mean Percy might not have Cabal's Ruin by the final dragon fight of the season? ffs-
DID NO ONE LOOT CABAL'S RUIN FROM THE FACTORY.
Thordak fight was baller, having all our NPCs there to worry about? a bit much. Cass why are you here. Go home before Whitestone loses its last de Rolo.
Also. Thordak my dude I know you're insane. mad even. but uh... you sent your children into battle. A TON have already died by the time you sadly nuzzle the hatchlings. This was kinda your fault. There's a reason animals don't send their babies into combat. then again you're a large reptile who talks about milk so what do I, a reptile researcher, know -
(Don't give me that crap about reptiles being bad parents we have several snakes who require maternal attendance after birth or they're Asocial Weirdos, crocodilians are VERY goo parents, and there are social lizards too.)
'fix him - FIX HIM' being gutted fucking killed me :c
I sure hope Pike's 'IT'S ME' was uh. about faith in herself. Not abandoning the god she spent all of S1 figuring out how to devote herself to. While wearing the Vestige associated with another god. the vestige that explicitly made this possible and not a nuke fire falls u all die tpk. haha. ha. (@/burr-ell)
Yes yes yes I know the voiceover and visuals fill in for 'I hear my mother in the morning. Fuck you'. but. idk. Felt like the grief of that moment was taken out of it? Also it's a banger line
Raishan's little killsteal attempt being bumped from Vorugal to Thordak was tasty! Go green girl go! ... except it did nothing but set up a few quiet moments before she turned on everyone again.
The amount of times I'm seeing things happen Again in this is... not great.
Glintshore is Not Glinting. Where is my broken glass difficult terrain?
Perc'ahlia arc fuckin impeccable tho. Delicious
And Pike got lots of fun and stunning moments so far! And Grog takin down the lair!
I love a lot of this though. The hallucination gas. Percy vs Ripley in the factory was so cool. Percy downright being Put in a Box for a while. VEX'S CONVERSATION WITH SYLDOR!!! SO MUCH!! Her being the leader and feeling so responsible for all this, and seeing herself become her father! ELAINA BACKSTORY! Scanlan leaving the party only to miss Kaylie too! Thordak being A Dad! Percy's death/Vex's grief being the catalyst for Vaxleth! The animation was fucking stellar - Vax killing Thordak, Percy's death, Pike mastering the Plate.
I don't have concrete thoughts on how I'd restructure the episodes/season (seasons?) to better balance platonic and romantic relationships, and utilize the changes to their fullest potential. But damn if the temptation to do ANOTHER canon divergence rewrite / exploration of cause and effect to make things hit a bit more nicely... make myself a challenge to only use X amount of scenes per episode/chapter, to try and match the difficulty of adapting this to television... idk

Why Allura's Death Was Unsatisfying
You know, I think the reason Allura's death was so unsatisfying was that there was no buildup or closure to it.
I've been thinking about. Major character death isn't new to audiences, and it can be done well. It's sad, yes, and not wanted by most means, but it's possible to have it written in a way where it not only
makes sense, but
delivers closure to both the character and the story
So how do stories do this? I've found the biggest way is through buildup.
We as the audience already know, or at the very least have a feeling, that this character is going to die. Maybe they are destined to die by prophecy, or have some sort of illness that has no cure. Whatever it is, we have the suspicion that this character might not make it to the end.
Another thing is that when a character dies, it serves to wrap their character development and personal arcs. They have grown to be the most ideal version of themselves within the confines of the show, and now they're moving on.
This is satisfying to the audience. It makes sense.
Allura's death has neither of these things.
There was no buildup to her death. For a majority of the show, fans expected Voltron to end with all of the seven main characters alive, because there was no need to expect otherwise. The writers did not give us a sign that someone might possibly sure. So when Allura dies at the end of the show, it's sudden, and it feels almost abrupt in a way.
It didn't wrap up her character arc. Now there's a lot of controversy on whether or not characters even acted remotely like themselves in Season 8, and I'm not going to get into that. It was clear though, that Allura still had a lot growing and learning to do, what we were meant to interpret after the show's ending. She also never really got the chance to be a leader or avenge her nation the way she wanted to. Sure, she defeated the Galra Empire, but she still needed to rebuild Altean civilization and fix what the Galra had destroyed for the entire universe. She doesn't get to do any of that.
In conclusion, Allura would have been better off as a character had she not died, OR, they should have written Allura's arc differently in a way that it would make sense for her to die. She simply had too much to look forward to after the events of the show that nothing of her personal arc got tied up with her death.
Free my poor girl she did nothing wrong.

TLOVM S3E10 in the German dub
The translation finds ways around saying "Team". Instead, the say friends, the others or group. I guess that's because team doesn't seem to fit into the fantasy genre, and it's usually only used for sports teams in German.
When Pike and Allura pop into Dr. Dranzel's room, and Allura says "I'm her ride." that has been made into "Ich bin gar nicht da." (I'm not really here -> aka Don't pay attention to me, I'm not important.) That really made me laugh, and it gets even funnier considering that Allura just stays in Dranzel's room 🤣
Uvenda tells Keyleth that she may have personal animosity with Raishan. The German dub refers to that as "Hass" (hatred), which ... woah ... is not quite the same thing ...
Edit: I have been made aware that what I originally said about the Katari's dialogue didn't make any sense. The English subtitles showed both Thieves Cant and its clear meaning. The Katari only said the lines in Cant, and the dub also only had those lines translated.
The Lucidian Coast is "die Küste Lucidiens"

a movie........
Tumblr media
time for a rant that has been a looong time coming because
the FUCK??? NOOOOOOOOOOOO PLEASE NO NO NO PLEASE GOD IF YOU'RE OUT THERE NEVER LET THIS MOVIE SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY NEVER EVEN MENTION THAT SHOW EVER AGAIN IN MY PRESENCE it should fucking DIE and stay DEAD
the WORST fandom i've ever come across/been part of. everyone was so fucking braindead. god the bullying here was So Bad. vld fandom was the epitome of 'you can't enjoy what you like'. and the bullies were like, some of the most popular blogs here. the content creators (among others ofc) here were NASTY. the people making decent art were so fucking rude to almost anyone that didn't bow down to them and agree with their views on the show, sitting on their high horse like they were fucking gods or something when they were like, 17 or something. mind u voltron was a show about ugly transformers lions and a bunch of kids in space meant for 7 YEAR OLDS. like stfu it's not deep, it's not important. i get that this is the internet i really do but apparently everyone was a pedo and homophobic and racist and needed to be cancelled because they weren't pure angels. i hope the people who liked the show, both teens and adults alike, have grown up and learnt what those words actually mean and why you shouldn't just casually throw them around. i hated you all. u had to be so careful about what you said on here, it was like north korea or something. i remember how kids got bullied into deleting their harmless fanfics, the fucking voice actors got bullied on a daily basis, it was BAD. i remember i got hate for having shiro as my icon and the background was the bi flag colours. I AM BI. also, so what if i had headcanoned shiro as bi, you couldn't have stopped me or anyone else from thinking that, and also IT WOULD NOT HAVE MATTERED, HE'S FICTIONAL, HE'S JUST LINES AND PIXELS. i know this is going to shatter some of your worlds (or at least would have back then), but a random ass nobody on tumblr headcanoning a character as bi when said character is "actually" straight/gay/whatever is NOT going to affect irl queer people in any way, it does NOT have real life consequences. who gives a fuck. since when has the fandom given a shit about canon anyway? fuck you.
okay, i've been bitching about the fandom enough (no i haven't, there's no way you can ever bitch about the vld fandom enough). what about the actual show? well. once again it's meant for 7 year olds. who cares if it was good or not. i've seen seasons 1–6. i liked season 1, didn't really like anything after that since the show seemed to change so much. the first season kind of has a different vibe completely? idk how to explain it, it just kind of feels like the actual show and then the rest was just a long fanfic by someone who was in love with keith's character. but since i was watching the show with my sister who was 10 at the time, it was fine, otherwise i wouldn't have kept watching after seeing season 2 i don't think.
here are a few negative things about the show imo:
making keith the main character out of nowhere after s1 (where he definitely wasn't the main focus) was so dumb. god the showrunners loved keith sooo much, it was so stupid. keith was nooot a leader. whatever.
making keith the black paladin was also so fucking stupid my god. and yes, everyone here wanting LANCE to become the black paladin just because he was the fandom favourite (don't get me wrong, he was my fave too) was so fucking braindead too honestly. shiro or allura. no one else made any sense.
canon allurance SUUUCKED. like holy shit that was so bad and horribly written, even lotor and allura had a better love story and had waaay more chemistry (and their relationship ended badly, rightfully so). and NO klance was never ever ever going to be canon, you were so delusional. like lmaooo did we even watch the same show? i just really enjoyed their dynamic and that's why i shipped them together, whatever. but yeah, like i said the bullying here was disgusting and everyone was cancelled, great, klance seemed to be the only thing you were allowed to like so in that sense i was lucky.
everything they did with allura in the later seasons............ you know what? i'm not even going to start. because wtfffffffff, as a storyteller myself i ?????? what in the world were they thinking. but yeah whatever it does not matter.
the point of this post is that EW EW EWWWW FUCK THAT SHOW AND FUCK YOU, if you were in the voltron fandom in 2017/2018 i personally hate you

Voltron Characters as Things I Heard in the Mental Hospital
Hunk: What is a long-term crisis called?
Pidge: Screwed.

Adam: What is your commitment to life?
Keith: Well I kinda wanna go to jail before I die.

Lance: Yes ma'am.
Allura: Don't call me that.
Lance: Ok mommy.

*Giant whiteboard falls on top of Lance*
Pidge: Why didn't you move?!
Lance: My brain said I had five seconds to move so I decided to sit for four of them.

Keith didn't realize that he was really in love with Lance until he saw him die. He already knew he loved Lance, but that set it in place, that was when he truly knew that he could never live a day of his life without Lance again.
He still has nightmares about seeing the explosion, about seeing the love of his life die. And he thanks Allura for saving Lance every single day, even when she's gone.

Allura: But since we're all going to die, Paladins, there's one more secret I must share with you all. I did not care for The Godfather.
Keith: What?
Allura: Did not care for The Godfather.
Pidge: How can you even say that, Allura?
Allura: Didn't like, didn't like it.
Hunk: Come on, it's so good, it's like the perfect movie!
Allura: And this is what everyone always says whenever, it's "Oh my..."
Lance: Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, I mean, you never see, Robert Duvall!
Allura: I know, look, fine human actors, did not like the movie.
Hunk: Why not?
Allura: Couldn't get into it.
Keith: Explain yourself, why couldn't you get into it?
Allura: It insists upon itself, Keith.
Keith: What?
Allura: It insists upon itself.
Keith: What does that even mean?
Lance: It has a valid point to make, it's insisted!
Allura: It takes forever getting in, and then you spend like six and a half vargas, and then, you know, I couldn't even get through it, I can't even finish the film. I've never even seen the ending.
Lance: YOU'VE NEVER SEEN THE ENDING?!
Shiro: But how can you not like it if you haven't even given it a chance?
Keith: I agree with Shiro, it's not really fair.
Pidge: It's outrageous!
Allura: I've tried on three separate occasions to get through it, and I get to the scene with all the men sitting in their chairs.
Keith: Yeah, that's a great scene, I love that scene.
Pidge: It's noted in every annal.
Allura: But it's not as good as you think it is. I have no idea what they're saying, it's like they're speaking a different language. That's when I start losing interest.
Keith: You know what, Allura?
Lance: THEY'RE SPEAKING ITALIAN!
Keith: The language they're speaking is the language of subtlety, something you unfortunately don't understand, your highness.
Allura: I loved The Money Pit. That is my answer to that statement, Keith.
Keith: Exactly.
Allura: Well, there you go.
Keith: Whatever.
.......
Hunk: I like that movie too.

My thoughts about episode 5, season 3 of The Legend of Vox Machina :
Kima and Allura backstory ! I love it. They deserve it. Since in the campaign, the medium itself didn't lend to it, we only got glimpses. But this is the time to dig into their relationship.
*music in the backgroud : "Fell in Love with a Girl" by The White Stripes* :
Tumblr media
"You could've fooled me." Allura being bitchy about it is the Allura is I love.
And she takes Percy's gun to look at it herself ! Love that. Love that for her.
Might I say, I love Stephanie Beatriz's voice acting, espacially, for some reason, the line : "Ah. Fuck my life." I don't know why I laughed so much.
TOOTHY MAW ! EVERYONE TAKE A SHOT !!
Tumblr media
"Oh shit ! Oh shit ! I don't want to die bold ! " Funniest line Ashley Johnson has said on this show -- for now. Except, of course, for "Oww ! My tit !"
I absolutely adore that they managed to keep the Vorugal/Yenk showdown. Because it WAS a good plan ! Now I'm wondering if this is the reason why they thought to bring us into the Hells much sooner than it was in the Campaign. If this is how it went down in the writers' room, genius.
"It's just a flesh wound !" Yenk, probably :
Tumblr media
LADY KIMA FOR THE WIN !!! oh, she's so badass
VEX/KEYLETH COMBO ATTACK !!! this battle is so cool !!!!!
Love is making out with your special someone while covered in dragon guts, guys.

It feels like people were wanting the trust exercises in Critical Role c3 E79 and E80 to be research-supported therapy from a licensed practitioner where they all work together to get a good grade in therapy, a thing that's normal to want and possible to achieve.
Not A HAG fucking with them per her nature feeding off juicy drama and cringe who wants to shake them around until all their secrets come out for her to watch and realize that they're so scared of failure they're locking into the sort of inaction that will actually make them fail. (I love Nana Mori. She was exactly the sort of fucked up punk rock street wise woman they needed.)
It's BORING if they just talk about all their problems. It's BORING if they just jump to trusting each other (when the exercise was started that they can't trust each other). It's BORING if they're like "actually that power that's been set in front of me could possibly have a bad effect so I'm just going to keep ignoring it. It's BORING to be safe. Go back to your coffee shop AUs if you want everything to be soft and safe. That's not the point of the source material.
The CR cast have REPEATEDLY said they have more fun pushing the big red button than playing it safe because you spend all of real life trying to avoid the consequences of risky decisions and it's FUN to get to explore what can go wrong.
Bell's Hells succeeded because they concluded they are in a moment were inaction and hesitation will get everyone killed and they just need to push all the big red buttons and take the risks because it's now or never. They need to check in enough to keep each other in line, but they also need to imagine a scenario where none of them are traitors. (Like they had to restrain FCG from murder-bot mode, but they risked getting to murder-bot mode because the benefit outweighed the personal risk.)
This party is not OSHA approved. They literally couldn't do the job if they were. People like Allura and Keyleth are relying on them to take monumentally stupid risks while holding on by their fingernails so that other people can be safe.
Fearne came to the conclusion that she wasn't taking the shard because she was afraid of Dark!Fearne. But her friends will pull her out of that if she drifts. She also wasn't taking it because she thought Ashton was supposed to have it and that didn't work out well. If she'd put her hoof down her friends would probably have accepted her decision even if they disagreed with it. (It's actually like normal and healthy to disagree with your friends choices and not yes-man them all the time.) But she decided with her own free will that she was just being scared and actually she did want to try. (But also if they hadn't gone through the shard hurting and rejecting Ashton, Fearne might have thought her taking damage meant she wasn't supposed to have it, not just part of the trial of absorbing it.)
There's no binary where pressuring your friends is always bad. Sometimes your friends pressure you into doing things they believe will benefit you that you're reluctant to do and then you do it and are like "no actually that was the right call and I needed that." Or you conclude "No actually that was bad and I wish I didn't listen." There's actually no way to know ahead of time. My relationship with one of my best friends of like 20 years consists heavily of us battling each other's depression by pressuring each other into things we don't want to do but need to and that's healthy for us. But also other people in our lives pressured us into things we didn't want to do and should not have done and it turned out bad. It turns out that life is made up of shades of grey and not hard and fast rules. There's no way of knowing if you're fucking up ahead of time.
Imogen admitted in the Truth or Die session that she was upset that Fearne didn't take the shard. She probably would not have told Fearne that in normal circumstances. And she was probably feeling that way because part of her was upset at herself for not giving into the Predothos powers. Admitting that to Fearne gave her the courage to talk about the possibility of doing that. Which like, could be a terrible idea. But also this is a D&D game with predetermined character class powers that grow as you level and there has to be an in-game justification for getting powers like Revelation in Flesh at 14th level. Like, either she leans into these powers or they're forced on her or she stops leveling and goes home. Leaning in is way more fun. Don't you want to see what batshit thing Matt has planned for that? That's FUN. Ignoring the dark powers is boring.
Like first and foremost this is A GAME that involves yes-anding and taking risks. It's about characters who have spent their entire lives burying and ignoring their problems and getting worse because of it. It isn't REAL for them to have one revelation and be like, "Whelp I'm fixed now and will fall into none of my old patterns and just bare my soul to everyone forever now." People aren't actually like that and if that's what they need to do to be measurably better for you you'll have a lifetime of disappointments. This is an adult story for adults about how adults really behave.
Anyway I can't wait for them to schlep all their baggage and new fucked up powers to the moon with them where they're make irresponsible decisions based on a martyr complex while their friends yell at them to stop being stupid and selfish and let them help. It's going to be a disaster but hopefully they snatch victory from the jaws of defeat (or defeat from the jaws of victory) and tell an entertaining story about the fuckups who tried to stop the next Calamity. Maybe they will and they get to be heroes. Maybe it comes at a terrible cost. Maybe they totally fuck it up and it's a Ring of Brass situation. But it'll be FUN.

Not me falling ass first back into my Klance phase from years ago and the itch to write a fic where its after the events of the show. Only Allura didn't die and Lance ended up with Keith, so insted of becoming a farmer- my boy is out here helping Keith with mission trips and the two of them become this iconic duo that work really well together both on and off mission.
I need to stop my brain because its feeding me scenes like Lance having Keith's back from a distance and Keith just having this grin as he calls Lance "That's my Sharpshooter" but the two of them still have this bickering moments when the stakes are high and they are all but arguing on the battle feild but their habits and instincts together are still so solid that they can still plow through enemies while continuing their eye rolling match
Goodbye I'm not om, their relationship has caused them to rub off on one another so you get times where Keith will say something unbelievably ridiculous like a bad pun or something and Lance just has this dead expression, or Lance picking up on Keith's blade tricks and trying to do them but failing so miserably that Keith has to bandage him up and while doing so and getting scolded Lance just goes
"What's with that look Kogane"
"What look?"
"You know the look you want to say it"
"Say what"
"You know exactly what"
"I told you so-"
"HAH I KNEW IT!!"
"What!? I did! You can't keep throwing knives around Lance!"

Outta Time
"We're not gonna make it."
Lance gritted his teeth as he held his breath as he lined up the sights and delivered a clean headshot. He did not come this far to have it end here. He would see this through.  "We're gonna make it. We have to."
"Lance."
It was just his name. But something about the way it was said. Just one word, but the sadness, acceptance, and firm finality of it. It was the truth, and it hit him hard enough that he lowered his rifle a hair.
No. He shook his head and repositioned the barrel along his cheekbone. No, they could fight this, they could still make it out. "We just gotta--"
"Lance."
Now inflected with brokenness, a pathetic urgency. Suddenly he had to remember how to breathe. He missed his next two shots.
"They won't, not while we're still inside."
But the funny thing was, somewhere in his mind he knew that wasn't true. They had waited so long for a chance like this, a chance that they were never going to get again. His comrades, they'd have no choice. He knew it but chose to believe they would wait anyway. Because if he didn't--
"Lance."
Oh. He knew a spirit shattering when he heard it. His lungs were convulsing. Was he breathing?  His hands were trembling so hard he could barely hold his gun.
A hand reached out and guided the gun down. "It's over."
Lance wrenched his attention away from the advancing enemy to see the most devastating thing he had ever laid eyes on.
Keith looked at him so tenderly, tears running streaks down his face that was mussed with grime and blood. So this is what giving up looked like.
"Breathe, Lance."
Casualties were a part of this great game known as war. They all knew it could come at any moment. But for some reason Lance didn't think the day would come when his card would be up.
Why was Keith holding him so tight? What were those sounds? Like a dying sheep. Wait. That was him. Oh he was sobbing. Screaming.
Keith cradled his head against his chest.
"It mattered. Everything mattered," he whispered, soft and soothing despite coming from his cracked lips. "If nothing else, you matter to me."
There was a weight on Lance's chest, making it so that he had to gasp for breath. His heart to beat so fast he was sure it would burst. The corners of his vision started to fade to black as all the sounds closed in around him.
Only Keith's rough voice, quiet and calming made a lifeline that Lance desperately grasped for, keeping himself afloat.
"Holy shit. We're gonna die, and you'll never know because I never told you."
Lance's tongue felt too big for his mouth, dead weight and useless. Somehow, he managed to ask "Told me what."
"That your smile lights up the universe more than a thousand suns. That everything sucks to the point that somedays I don't want to get out of bed in the morning, but I do, because I get to see you, and when I'm with you everything is a little less awful. That I break every time you look at her."
Lance was able to focus his eyes. Too bright lights. It took all he was to look into those impossibly beautiful, red-rimmed watery eyes.
"Lance I lo--"
*   *   *
They won.
Ten thousand years of oppression had come to an end with that blast.
Allura and Coran clung to each other as they watched the waves of radiation wipe out the end of the empire.
Hunk stood as still as a statue. Tears streaking down his cheeks.
"They were still down there," Pidge whispered as they collapsed to their knees on the cold floor.
It took everything in Shiro to keep his intestines from emptying out his mouth. The bile was there, bitter and biting.
It was necessary. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. That's what they would say. He would be applauded. A hero. But only the people in this room would see it as it really was:  a choice.
A choice that was easier than it should have been. Cruelly quick and almost as thoughtless. He had the rest of his life to mourn. He hoped it wasn't long.

To put a bow on this Voltron thing.
I'm an uncle, I babysit for my sister, the kid is about seven. As any responsible adult would be, I'm sensitive to what I show her. I want to introduce her to good shows like Tailspin and Animaniacs, but I don't want to show her things she's not ready for, that'll scare her too much or that she won't understand.
Transformers One was about on the line. I think she mostly enjoyed Bumblebee goofing around, but maybe didn't get everything to do with Megatron and that stuff got pretty intense. I had to lean over and check on her a few times. Shazam 2 was too much for her. My dad, her grandpa, wants to introduce her to Bond movies--he likes Connery, obviously, but I think those movies are a bit slow and violent, and she'd be better off starting with Moore, who is goofier and softer. Yeah, real men like Connery, sure, but she's a kid, she wants to see Bond go into space.
Anyway, the first six seasons of Voltron, I'd pretty happily show to her. But those last two, I really don't know. Yeah, bad stuff happened in the first six, but it was generally off-screen or far in the past so like "okay, now we're fixing that stuff!"
Season seven, you see Earth get firebombed. The fights aren't "wow bang" action, they're more intense, it's like the Paladins are always on the verge of being killed.
Allura fucking DIES--and yeah, sometimes characters need to die, even in children's media, but it seems so unnecessary. If you're a little girl and Allura is your favorite character and you just want to see her and Lance get married and have babies--which is a very reasonable expectation with this show, given it has Looney Tunes antics every episode--it just seems you're going to end up heartbroken for very little reason. What was the point, even? "Sacrifice is good"? "War is hell"?
Like, shit, you guys wanna promote your gay Shiro agenda (even though he plays a Human Fighter in D&D), it's so important to you to have gay representation to show the kids that gay is okay--but those same kids you're going to freak out with these constant stressful scenes!
So who is this for? Kids impressionable enough to need to learn lessons about gay acceptance or kids old enough to take a hit like their favorite character DYING after falling in love and starting to move on from her traumatic past? It kinda comes off schizophrenic to me when I think about it like that. Batman was pretty much a big kids' show through and through, it didn't have subplots about Robin trying to catch a mouse or anything, but this show. It goes from goofy antics to millions of people dying... it's fucky, is all.

TLoVM S3 fell a bit short for me, and no, it wasn't the narrative changes. It just failed to deliver on emotional beats for me. I think trying to keep iconic stream moments arguably screwed them more than just carrying on with the flow of what they had.
Love that they managed to weasel in Keyleth's Earth Ashari stuff and gave her a cool world connection moment ! But like. Guys. We have actively seen Allura and Pike both scry without issue. A throw away line about Raishan being protected by powerful magic could have solved the 'why aren't you asking the people who know how to scry to solve this' issue I felt was very present in that.
Also, the team's dismissal of her concerns in the show felt much more 'what else are we supposed to do' not 'we can handle this go sit in the corner while the adult's talk : )' Especially since they basically never worked with Raishan like they did in the stream and Percy actively broke what little pact they had with her! The whole we are going to work with Raishan thing just... felt way too flippy floppy for me to get Keyleth's reaction out of it. Her frustration made much more sense in the stream.
Vex's 'my love is a curse' felt very left field to me. Though they have ample opportunity to play it up in the coming season once she realizes Vax is messed up. Though I do appreciate him very actively making the choices he does (HE demands the RQ take him instead, HE insists she show him the ritual to rescue Percy)
I get having Scanlan not die since resurrection is a much bigger deal, but I can only be woken from a coma by hearing my daughter talk?? Give the man aphasia and have her come to teach him/play music to help him out. Thematic ! Beautiful ! Doesn't feel ridiculous like 'idk coma I guess'. This is a case where having watched C1 felt like it screwed things for me, 'cause it seemed as if the seeds for the messy break up of Bard's Lament were being planted... and then they didn't sprout. I know people like Tary, but he was such a blip in the scheme of things writing him out makes sense (and they can still fit him in if they want). It just seemed like they were building up to something with Scanlan that never paid off. I also personally massively dislike the 'real family' line from him. You can say goodbye I wanna hang out with my kid without shitting on your other relationships.
Percy's death did not hit at all for me. The song did not help. The lyrics being what was going on on screen was not my jam, though I know plenty of people liked it. I was also pretty sad by the choice to have him and Vex hook up before his death. I think the narrative of them just having waited too long could have worked fine, but I get tweaking things for the drama.
It's cool that Pike is getting a story, since Ashley really wasn't present enough to have one in the original stream. I guess the whole 'believe in yourself not your god' thing just ??? I guess it works. I mean the only time she was ever shown to doubt herself was in relation to her faith. I just. Her big 'it's me!!!' moment with Thordak had me going ???? It's you what? I just was not tracking what they were trying to do with her. She has too much self-confidence in all other things for me to track a self-doubt story I guess?
I'm curious about people who aren't familar with the original campaign's reactions, as the pacing just felt a little all over the place for me.
