margo & allie all star diner
it's quiet enough for margo to feel no guilt for abandoning post when allie appears through the diner doors. she's propped in a booth with her friend quickly, splitting a burger and a shake happily. 'do you think your mom would mind if i crash for a few days?' she blurts before slurping up some shake through the mouthful of food. she has a home now, technically. a more...secure couch? but living with her brother is not it. 'i can't take it anymore.' she mumbles. 'kas, i mean. every fucking night i gotta hear girls sounding like fucking...strangled cats.' she mimics an expression, eyes crossing and mouth falling open. 'there's no way. no fucking way that's even real. when will girls stop trying to make guys feel better and just be honest? they're shit in bed.' mars states, nudging the shake towards allie. 'you want some more? because i could knock this back like a shooter, al. you're gonna have none.' @wilddwcrds

call it a life full of disappointments, but mars frowns as allie tosses out the notion of the madden sisters miraculously reuniting. it's a nice thought, all ambitious and hopeful, but a bit too much sunshine for mars's taste. she nonchalantly shrugs, turning the frown into a faint smile. 'i mean, i found kas in all those…things.' she mutters. 'so they could, yeah.' she nods, but uncertain if she'd want mel, vic, and lexi brought together under similar circumstances. a lifetime of torment, and mars is still clawing her way out of its grip.
she manages a chuckle at the mention of ruben, stifling it with a quick snort and covering her face. 'they're german now!?' she teases allie's attempt at the visser accent, as it now swirls continuously through hollow cove. 'ive always kinda thought he was a dick, too. there's a reason why him and kas get along.' she grins, never caring to say what everyone really thinks about her brother. 'maybe the vissers is the perfect place for him. he always…i don't know. i got the vibe he didn't like being with us.' a gut feeling, perhaps, or just speculation driven by her personal dislike for him. 'jas could do better.' she adds quietly, always thinking highly of the other wolf.
mars' eyes flick to allie as her friend clears her throat, an instinctual eye roll at the topic she predicts is about to unfold. margo slumps in her seat, throwing her hands up into a careless but tense shrug. 'i mean...i guess? he thinks i shouldn't be pissed.' and mars is too stubborn to forgive her brother. 'it just...how can i not be? you know? he just fucked off like it was nothing and that was never...that was never what we did. we stayed together through everything and he just fucked that right over.' her passion displays then, mars' fists clenching as she grips a map in her hold. she sighs then, easing her own tension with a long sigh. 'short answer, no. it's still fucked.'
there's a slow snicker that starts from alana, almost as if she doesn't want to laugh but it escapes from her lungs regardless. she gives a string of heavy nods, able to picture vic and mel and lexi. "it'd be cool if they found each other. you know?" her frown is slanted, feeling the familiar weight she feels whenever she thinks about harvey. "but, wherever lexi is i think she's gonna be fine." allie's tone isn't all too confident but it's hopeful. and some days that's all she can muster. when she thinks of jas, allie snickers again but not because of what she's experienced. just the thought of her with a bunch of visser wolves. "do you think ruben is gonna just...start becoming a viking super slowly? like one day he's got an ax and then weeks later like...a belt. and then...the boots. one day he's like ja zi zam zi vikin beeetuh." allie snorts, flopping back in her chair at the image. it fades into a sigh and she shoots mars a hesitant look when she mentions kas. "so..." al clears her throat. "you've talked?" she approaches the question and topic carefully, elongating her words. "like...talked talked or just...talked a little bit? about serious shit?" her pitch rises by the end of her questions, giving mars a well meaning grin.

no but it’s incredible how across the spider-verse takes on the white nerd complaint that miles isn’t supposed to be spider-man and makes it the hinge point of the entire movie. like okay, and if he’s not, so what? it’s still his movie! in fact let’s make his biggest strength the very fact that he’s an outsider who doesn’t have to obey canon since HE’S the canon divergence that started it all! beautiful convergence of text and meta
#and of course hobie and margo become crucial allies!! anyway. yeah 💗#across the spider verse spoilers#ask to tag#spiderverse spoilers

Sapphic Books Reccs
Here is my list of recommended sapphic books! There’s a lot of YA here since that’s a lot of what I read. Everything on this list I have personally read and can recommend. I’m sure there’s a TON out there I haven’t read or ones I have read and have just forgotten!
Contemporary
Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail by Ashley Herring Blake (Adult)
My favorite of Blake’s! Enemies to lovers. SO good.
Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake (Adult)
A woman falls for her step-sister’s best friend. Oh, and there’s a kiddo in the mix as well.
The Falling in Love Montage by Ciara Smyth (YA)
Two girls promise a summer of fun full of rom-com worthy dates. The only rule, no relationships. Just one summer, nothing more. Sure....
Forget Me Not by Alyson Derrick (YA)
Amnesia fic where a girl forgets she ever met her secret girlfriend in their ultra-conservative town.
Hani and Ishu’s Guide to Fake Dating by Adiba Jaigirdar (YA)
Fake dating between the girl who wants to validate her bisexuality to her friends and the girl who doesn’t mind the popularity boost.
Her Name in the Sky by Kelly Quindlen (YA)
Best friends to lovers! A big piece of this is also the friend group involved.
Imogen, Obviously by Becky Albertalli (YA)
Imogen thinks she’s just an Ally. Spoiler alert: she’s not. I loved the way friendship was explored in this. You see some really solid friendships as well as a subtly toxic one (that’s acknowledged as such).
Late to the Party by Kelly Quindlen (YA)
An ode to late bloomers and a journey to self-acceptance. A girl goes to her first party, befriends a gay guy who introduces her to new group of friends and one really cute girl
Margo Zimmerman Gets the Girl by Brianna Shrum and Sara Waxelbaum (YA)
Super fun involving a girl asking another girl fo “Queer 101″ lessons. Bi and Autistic rep too!
Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales (YA)
A girl gives anonymous love advice and gets hired by a hot guy to help him get his ex back. Really FANTASTIC bi rep!
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston (Adult)
A sexy time-bendy romance with so much heart
She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen (YA)
My FAVORITE rom-com. I reread it constantly. Fake dating, enemies-to-lovers between the cheer captain and basketball star!!
She Gets the Girl by Rachael Lippincott and Alyson Derrick (YA)
Two girl team up to get their crushes to fall for them and start developing feelings for each other along the way.
Six Times We Almost Kissed by Tess Sharpe (YA)
Childhood frenemies forced to move in together for their best friend moms’ sake. Trauma filled and SO SO good.
Some Girls Do by Jennifer Dugan (YA)
A fun rom-com between an out queer athlete and the local beauty pageant queen.
We Are Okay by Nina LaCour (YA)
One of my favorite books of all time. A story about grief and friendship and love. A soft, quiet story.
Who I Was With Her by Nita Tyndall (YA)
A girl’s secret girlfriend dies and she is left to grieve alone until she finds herself turning to her girlfriend’s ex.
Science Fiction/Fantasy
Crier’s War by Nina Varela (YA)
A romance that leads to revolution by between two girls: one human, one Made
The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow (Adult)
This is historical and fantasy! Suffragette witches! Another one of those books I wish I could read again for the first time. Three sisters, one of them has a WLW romance
Thriller/Horror
Hide by Kiersten White (Adult)
A high-stakes hide and seek competition in an abandoned amusement park. One of my all-over favorite books of 2022.
House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland (YA)
No wlw romance in this one, but the main character and her sister are both wlw. My absolute favorite book of 2021. What I would pay to read this for the first time again.
The Girls I’ve Been by Tess Sharpe (YA)
The daughter of a con artist is finally allowed to stop running and faking her identity, only to get stuck in a bank heist with her ex-boyfriend and current girlfriend.
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand (YA)
Three girls who shouldn’t have a reason to team up together against an ancient evil. The new girl, the pariah, and the queen bee who’s been helping the evil all along. I have reread this book easy a dozen times.
Throwaway Girls by Andrea Contos (YA)
When a girl goes searching for her missing best friend, she finds a trail of other missing girls and battles with heartbreak after her girlfriend leaves her for California.
Wilder Girls by Rory Power (YA)
Quarantined at her girl’s school after a gruseome Tox breaks out, a girl must find what happened to her best friend who’s gone missing
Historical
Great or Nothing by Joy McCullough, Caroline Tung Richmond, Tess Sharpe, and Jessica Spotswood (YA)
The queer Little Women retelling we all deserve with a SAPPHIC JO! Set in 1942. Beth’s POV still haunts my heart
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray (YA)
Two of the major supporting characters are WLW. This becomes more important and on the page in the later books in this series, but this is the first one.
Music from Another World by Robin Talley (YA)
1970s California. Two girls become penpals and bond over music.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid (Adult)
Hollywood icon Evelyn Hugo famously had seven husbands. This is the story of her wife.

Hold onto me
[Warnings before you read this: this is ghostflower, there’s a life threatening situation, Miguel is presented as the bad guy. If any of this makes you uncomfortable I suggest you do not read this. Thanks]
Miles thought he felt true horror when he saw Miguel hold Gwen by her neck over a ledge too great and scary even for a superhero. When he saw her flailing, desperately trying to rip his hand from her neck, the hands on her suit ripped off, showing that her fingers are turning white with pressure.
Then Miles thought he felt true horror when Miguel let her go, and the entirety of Spider-Society around them made one of the most pained sounds imaginable, but stayed still, as if glued in place. Even those on his side. Like they were witnessing a natural disaster and not a murder attempt.
He was the only one with half a mind to leap after her - so he did. Hand stretched out, eyes fixated on her face.
In what felt like years, but was probably just a second and a half, he caught her hand and pulled her in, with no plan on how or where to go from there. Right under them was one of those portals opened by Spot. At least he got to forgive her before they-
-hit a safety net, apparently. Up above them, thousands of Spider-people looked at each other and breathed a collective sigh of relief, securing their individual webs so that nobody has to fall to their death this time.
Miles pulled away to look into Gwen’s eyes, but, before he could, he got practically tackled. Hobie and Pavitr got to them first, and the latter could hardly contain his excitement. Before he could register what was happening, they were surrounded by their allies - from Margo to Peter B. Peter hugged Miles so hard it hurt, but it was hardly a bad thing.
But then, he heard sobs. And there, turning his head to land his gaze on Gwen, who was breaking down more and more with each passing moment, Miles finally felt true horror. He’s seen her sad before, sure, but not crying. He was unsure she ever did cry. And now she was fully breaking down, looking at her hands.
“My webshooters- he took them- I can’t-“
The thing about true horror, however, is that Spider-Man doesn’t back away from it even for a second. So Miles made his way towards her and took one of his webshooters off before securing it on her hand.
“We’ll just do it together. You can hold onto me, Gwanda,” he smiled.
She looked up at him and broke a smile. Gosh, what a pretty smile.
“…I don’t know how to do this,” she said, and it was unclear whether she meant just sharing webshooters, or something more and deeper.
“It’s alright. You just have to hold my hand and be in sync with me. Like dancing,” Miles answered, and it was also unclear whether he just meant how they’re going to move.
“I can do that”
“I know”

I just watched Spider Man: Across the spider verse yesterday and I would like to say how much I loved that part of Miles narrative where he wanted to tell his parents he's the spiderman was so queercoded and also how later on in the movie, once he meet the "spidey verse" and its whole system he was so against it because it's broken and how Hobie helps him to escape and how Margo let him go and how in the end Gwen gathers all the spideys that are against the system and think the Miles is right to help him out. I am well aware that a great thing about the spider verse is that Miles (and other characters) has other problems that are not racism, racist systems or just systemic issues in general and is really awesome to see black people just living their lifes (a narrative that we need to see more) but I also think is a very badass (and important, especially these days) move that a young black boy goes against a whole system and a bunch of people to fight for what he believe is right and that in the end a trans woman (because, yeah guys, Gwen is probably trans, no ally has a trans flag in their room that specifically says "protect trans kids") stands with him and actively starts to help him.
Anyway, I can't stop thinking about this movie
#spider man: across the spider verse#into the spider verse#miles morales#gwen stacy#hobie brown#spider punk#trans gwen#queer#queercoded#about gwen being trans: i think the only reason why gwen wasn't 100% confirmed as trans woman was because of the studio#cause you see the artists really tried#i mean#they painted her hair in the colours of the trans flag#spider man 2099#pavitr prabhakar

I know for a fact that in Beyond we will have these scenes (or at least I really want to see them):
A scene where Miles and Gwen kind of argue, but it wouldn't be an argument, it would be more like Miles screaming at Gwen about how betrayed he feels, and she just stands there and lets him scream and get out everything he needs to while trying to keep herself from crying. (And at the end of this scene even if Miles doesn't forgive her truly, he will accept her as an ally)
Gwen gets hurt badly because she tries to save Miles's dad, and for a moment we think she'll die, but of course, it doesn't happen, she's just hurt but will get better, and after being so close to losing her, and see how much she regrets her actions Miles forgives her.
MILES AND GWEN DOING THE UPSIDE-DOWN KISS
More interactions between Hobie, Pav, Gwen and Miles.
Gwen and Margo being besties.
Idk just after all the angst also give me the double of fluff
#now i hate myself a little because i wrote this#i dont belive gwen actually did anything bad#shes just a homeless teenage girl#spider gwen#gwen stacy#gwiles#ghostflower#i love angst but also fluff#miles x gwen#miles morales#gwen and miles#beyond the spiderverse#across the spiderverse

Things I would’ve liked seeing in the teen wolf movie:
-Laura being the birth mom of Eli & the story of how Derek ended up adopting his nephew
- Scott as a veterinarian following deatons steps but he decided to relinquish his true alpha powers to Derek when he realized he really isn’t cut out to be alpha because he never wanted to be a werewolf but with therapy realized he wouldn’t mind being a beta because it’s much calmer and if he stayed in the area wouldn’t become an omega. Making Scott happier maybe he finds himself a gf/bf
-Alpha Derek encouraging his pack by leading by example became a mechanic and a consultant (also show more mechanic Derek 😭)
-Grown fbi emissary stiles with little magics & werewolf strength. Happy & dating Derek with a newly fixed jeep
-Stiles and Lydia reestablishing a good friendship after the break up and the whole thing with the Jeep
- CEO & fashion icon Lydia using banshee powers to find out when corporate Headhonchos die to bet on stocks that will increase pack funds a little but not make it suspicious. still being on top of her game ceo wise excluding her powers
-Seeing more of Lydia’s powers.
-Jackson and Lydia sass offs (but with Margo/Elliot from the magicians dynamics and not whatever they did in the movie)
-Jackson and Ethan wedding👀 or at least cute domestic life
-Liam in meditation classes & a financial analyst, in charge of pack finances (+Liam and Hayden together and maybe have a kid)
-If Liam has a kid Mason to be the godfather
-Peter as a stockbroker so Lydia doesn’t have to dirty her name & maybe some art galleries around the world for when he needs to step away from stocks to not be suspicious.
-Issac happy with a French husband who treats him amazing back in beacon hills & neighbors with Derek & regularly does community bbqs. i’d like to think that Isaac would become an amazing social worker for how badly social workers handled his case.(Maybe a little bit of father figure Chris cuz he took care of him and grieved with him after Allison)
-Chris argent allowed at pack bbqs and functions because he’s proved himself over and over and the pack is the only ppl who can also understand the lost of his daughter
-Peter and Chris regularly attend therapy and grief counseling and sometimes together
-Peter and the sheriff do lunch sometimes and we get stories about all the on goings of become hills cuz they like to gossip like old ladies
-Malia back in beacon hills after traveling the world and has become a pilot and constantly brings gifts for the pack ( maybe she introduces 2 poly partners)
-Kira back from the dessert with a mastery of her powers and maybe a journalist now
-Jordan retires as a cop to get his powers under control & becomes a fitness instructor to keep active but have a more chill pace job. I’d like to think that he recommended meditation classes to Liam.
-Erica and Boyd alive well and happy with some kids(let me be delusional)
-The hale house remodeled to fit all the pack when they visit
- I liked John & Mason as sheriff & deputy. ITs Mason following stiles steps in his own way
-Mason get a cute bf
-Deaton left town to go work with his sister but stays as a hale pack ally /mentor of emissary! stiles
-Cora being a cool aunt, ufc fighter 👀
-Discount kira can stay but she’s just introduced as a part of Satomi‘s pack and not as discount Kira and maybe kira occasionally mentors her
-Eli is adorable as is, maybe give him some friends and show his interactions with his pack and how they spoil him to death
-Some low-key Chris, Peter, and Melissa dates
-Give the sheriff a girlfriend
-Show the sheriff being a grandpa
-Derek regularly cooking and bringing lunch to the sheriff for stiles
-Kira and Scott getting back together would’ve been cute
-Would’ve rather Allison stay dead for storyline consistency and the emotional development and growth of all the characters. But if she’s sticking around then I would’ve liked for Scott to fill her in and they be friends. She gets to visit Isaac and we get to see that reunions reaction and they’re both happy for each other. we get to see her and her dad reuniting and him fumbling over explaining his current relationship with Peter & Melissa. And maybe she leaves Beacon Hills with Malia to learn more about herself & the world. And when she’s ready to come back she becomes a self-defense teacher. NO HER AND SCOTT DATING HATED THAT.
-For Malia and Parrish to have not been a thing because why🤢

Last week, in a major televised address, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah threatened Cyprus with military action if it continues its military cooperation with Israel, whose army has been training in the island nation for an attack on Lebanon.
Indeed, the Cypriots have not only become Israel’s close friend but also a major US ally. The recent love affair between Cyprus and Israel has been in the making for more than three decades.
Yet the closeness of that relationship did not become apparent until March 2011, when former President Dimitris Christofias went on an official visit to Israel.
But if Cyprus began to cosy up to Israel only recently in its history, Christian and Jewish Zionists have had a much longer involvement in Cypriot affairs.
The Zionists have always referred to the ancient Hebrew colonies in Cyprus, whose ancient Hebrew name (which is still used in modern Hebrew) is ‘Kafrisim’, including Paphos and Salamis, as a precedent for future colonisation. It was the British-Israelites, however, who became the most ardent British Protestant group supporting Jewish colonisation.
If the Cypriots indeed find Jewish colonisation and Israeli genocidal wars across Palestine so unobjectionable as to continue warm relations and military cooperation, perhaps they can offer their own country for Jewish colonisation and revive Zionist dreams of taking over the island.
This is especially so as the embassy of Cyprus in Tel Aviv celebrates the ancient Hebrew colonies in its country.
Strangely, it does not seem to celebrate the colonies at Kouklia or Margo-Tchiflik.
Perhaps, given this Cypriot welcome, the Zionists could begin a new call for the ‘return’ of modern Jews to the ancient Hebrew colonies in Kafrisin and the more recent Zionist ones in Kouklia and Margo-Tchiflik, as this could reduce their ceaseless colonisation of the lands of the Palestinians.”

Pirate au lineup!
Or: my one piece brainrot is strong
More infos and a better picture under the cut
1) Captain Hobie Brown, or the man that spit a celestial dragon in the Face.
Who decides about the worth of a human?
Once a slave, Hobie is planning on the downfall of the world ordet and the celestial dragons. Despite his looks, he is an extremely intelligent and kindhearted individual.
2) Vice Captain Gwen Stacy, or the Woman with the body of snow
Who decides your fate?
The user of the snow-snow Fruit wasn't always a Pirate. Once, she was the loved son of a Marine Captain, before she took Hobies hand to change herself and the fate her father picked for her. Together with her crew, she became what she always wanted to be.
3. The Navigator Pavitr Prabhakar, or the prince of a lost country
Who decides to who lives and who dies?
A long time ago, he was the prince next in line to become the ruler of an entire country. Then, the world government made his home, his family, his people, his land and its history dissappear. As the sole survivor of a Buster call, he works together with his crew to take revenge.
4. The Medic Miles Morales, or the Traitor
Who decides who the hero is?
After the Marineford War, the former Marine Captain all but ran from the eyes of the seagull. The slaughter of his allys and enemies wasn't good or justified. he couldn't bear to work under the people that allowed such a carnage. As the user of the draw-draw fruit, he wishes to create a world where his crew and family can live in peace.
5. The Shipwright Peni Parker, or the steel Monster
What is the difference between human and weapon?
As user of the mecha-mecha fruit, Peni once had the ability to create and bring life to small robots. But then she lost her first creation, leading her to lose most of her abilities. That was till her crew found her and helped her reignite the spark in herself.
6) The Chronicler Margo Kess, or the woman that knows all
Who writes history ?
The search for the truth was always important for her. With the power of the word-word fruit, Margo could easily translate every script she came across. Together with her crew, she wants to uncover the history that is hidden or lost.

Okay...Not the ship analysis yet but a little snippet of it. To write the analysis I had to think about why I like Red Crackle so much. And I realized one of the reasons why is that they remind me of another ship I also love:
(Warning:Spoilers of both Carmen Sandiego and Spider-Man Into/Across the Spiderverse ahead.)
Yes, they got differences but also massive resemblance either that once you notice, you can't unsee it. It isn't noticeable when you try to compare Gray and Miles and Gwen and Carmen, but once you switch...
Both Miles and Carmen are latino main characters, just that Miles is black and Carmen is brown. While Puerto Rico is a USA territory, in culture terms they share more with Latin America. And Even Miles not being born in Puerto Rico, his puerto rican roots and heritage are clear. 8/B in spanish is nowhere near as bad. As a Brazilian, we speak portuguese, which is a very similar language to Spanish(I myself know a little bit of spanish), but overall, both languages tend to sound very difficult, specially when you're learning in a place that doesn't speak any. Carmen didn't seem to be totally fluent in spanish either since in the Lupe Peligro episode she says her Spanish is getting better. So not fluent, at least in that point in time. Maybe that changes after that so I'll just assume both Miles and Carmen are working on their spanish. Another point is that they are both very smart. Carmen knows her geography and history AND can speak multiple languages and Miles is great at physics AND art, both very different areas from one another. Saying that, Carmen had everything to be a Mary Sue, just like Miles had everything to be a Gary Stu but instead, while they are extraordinary, we also see their weaknesses, flaws and mistakes. On the first two episodes of the first season of Carmen Sandiego and on the first spiderverse movie, we see Black Sheep/Miles Morales transition to becoming Carmen Sandiego/Spider-Man. And on that transition, someone was always by their side...
Both Gwendolyne Stacy(Spider-Woman) (or Gwanda ;) and Graham Calloway(Crackle) have a four letter nickname that starts with G and the protagonist always call them that(Gwen and Gray). Both have a surname that ends with Y. Both are a little bit older than the main character(Gray is two years older than Carmen and Gwen is 15 months older than Miles). Both are trans to a lot of people(I don't actually believe this, I think both Gwen and Gray are cisgender, specially Gwen, because of the comics and because while I think her revelation to her father was made in purpose to resonate and pass as a metaphor for coming out, I believe in the less popular theory that she was an ally and her Peter was actually trans and that is one of the reasons he suffered bullying and Gwen defended him and had that "Protect Trans Kids" poster in her room, this is literally the vibe she passes me:
Some time ago I saw a theory that the relationship of Miles and Gwen was a metaphor for one of the difficulties that interracial couples pass that the most privileged has to learn that the same society system that protects them, won't protect their partner in the same way, and that is shown through the way Spider Society treats Miles and I know there are more black spider people like Hobie and Margo but the parallel still works:he is not being accepted because he is different. The thing is, that theory kinda breaks the trans Gwen theory because if she was trans, sadly, the system wouldn't protect her either. I also don't believe it because of the voice actors. Some years ago, an adult could dub a children if he did the right voice. Nowadays, they cast a voice actor more similar to the character. Like, black characters need to have black voice actors, etc, otherwise they get canceled. And both of the voice actors for Gray and Gwen are cisgender, and I saw people complaining that if the producers wanted to make characters "potentially trans" they should have casted trans voice actors, for both characters. But anyway, I don't mind and respect the people who think they are trans). Both got competition for the other's affection(Gwen has now Spider-Byte and Gray has Ivy, Julia and pretty much everyone you can ship with Carmen in this show, which is a lot of people). Both are the lighter skin love interest not from where the protagonist is(Gray is from Australia and Gwen is from another dimension).
And now with the storyline similarities. Both pairings start as friends, so both lead to a slow burn. Both were an amazing partners in crime duo, working really great as a team, and being just the two of them or even with more people, their connection always stood out. Miles and Carmen never became official members of Spider Society/V.I.L.E. but disagree with them and escape from them to do what they believe is right. Both Gwen and Gray make a mistake and are expelled from Spider Society/V.I.L.E. (Gwen with the portal multiverse dimension go home machine or whatever and Gray by having his memories wiped) and then they realize too late they made a mistake with Miles/Carmen and now have to fix that mistake. Also both Carmen and Miles say "Goodbye Gray/Gwen." in the most DRAMATIC way possible before doing an grand triumphal exit and I love that for them. And the look Gray/Gwen gives them before they leave is THE EXACT SAME LOOK, I SWEAR. So as you can see, both ships leave a room for A LOT of angst and drama. Also just the way they look so fondly at each other and the way both Carmen/Miles and Gray/Gwen look sad when they have to leave or when the other has to leave them says it all. Platonic or not, both couples have an undeniable bond and just work so well together, being as friends, lovers, partners...They are each other's ride or die. They are each other's everything.
(Also just an personal opinion is that both Spiderverse and Carmen Sandiego have the MOST BEAUTIFUL ANIMATION I HAVE EVER SEEN) (Along with the new Miraculous movie) (Ladybug and Chat Noir are also very similar of Carmen and Gray but that's something more noticeable to pretty much everyone, I don't have to elaborate much on that matter) (I've got nothing to say about LadyNoir/MariChat being similar to Red Crackle that hasn't been said before)
The major difference about them is that, while both the Spiderverse movies and the Carmen Sandiego series don't have romance as their main focus, Miles and Gwen will most likely be canon in the films, just like they are in the comics. I think it will be a movie trilogy so they'll probably get together in the third movie(Beyond the Spiderverse in january? Anyway, 2024, save the date). I mean, Spider-Byte is cool and all but she's a game avatar or something so I don't think Miles and her can get together, even if he travels to her universe and decides to stay there or vice versa. They introduced her just now and we barely know anything about her, and Miles and Gwen clearly already have a whole build up story going on with a consistent arc so why mess it up? Besides, I think we need more main interracial couples representation in media. Aside from these two, the only GOOD main interracial couples I can think of are Druig and Makkari from Eternals(I never even watched Eternals and I know they are better than Ikaris and Sersi)(They are also an interracial couple but they clearly don't have the chemestry Drukkari does and Ikaris seems to be kind of a jerk tbh), Ricky and Gina(from HSMTMTS, which I don't watch either but their clips I saw on YouTube are just the cutest thing), Ben and Devi from Never Have I Ever, Daphne and Simon and Kate and Anthony from Bridgerton, and Julie and Luke(Juke) from Julie and The Phantoms(JATP) which is literally an impossible love story since Luke is dead(he's a ghost) and Julie isn't(she's alive) and the series was cancelled(still mad about it and will forever be). My point is:Couples with different ethnicities are not only little but the ones we do have are mostly either impossible to happen, unfairly treated/messed up by writers/not well executed or when treated right, we don't get enough content of them/they are forgotten, in the majority cases, and that needs to change. Anyway...Meanwhile, with Red Crackle, as Carmen Sandiego had a pretty open ending, canon can be whatever the hell you want, and for me is red crackle. That's it. Thank you for coming to my ted talk. Will be posting more "written podcasts" soon.

Unseelie by Ivelisse Housman
Twin sisters, both on the run, but different as day and night. One, a professional rogue, searches for a fabled treasure; the other, a changeling, searches for the truth behind her origins, trying to find a place to fit in with the realm of fae who made her and the humans who shun her. Iselia “Seelie” Graygrove looks just like her twin, Isolde… but as an autistic changeling trying to navigate her unpredictable magic, Seelie finds it more difficult to fit in with the humans around her. When Seelie and Isolde are caught up in a heist gone wrong and make some unexpected allies, they find themselves unraveling a larger mystery that has its roots in the history of humans and fae alike.
Both sisters soon discover that the secrets of the faeries may be more valuable than any pile of gold and jewels. But can Seelie harness her magic in time to protect her sister, and herself?
Bindle Punk Bruja by Desideria Mesa
A part-time reporter and club owner takes on crooked city councilmen, mysterious and deadly mobsters, and society’s deeply rooted sexism and racism, all while keeping her true identity and magical abilities hidden – inspired by an ancient Mexican folktale.
Yo soy quien soy. I am who I am.
Luna—or depending on who’s asking, Rose—is the white-passing daughter of an immigrant mother who has seen what happens to people from her culture. This world is prejudicial, and she must hide her identity in pursuit of owning an illegal jazz club. Using her cunning powers, Rose negotiates with dangerous criminals as she climbs up Kansas City’s bootlegging ladder. Luna, however, runs the risk of losing everything if the crooked city councilmen and ruthless mobsters discover her ties to an immigrant boxcar community that secretly houses witches. Last thing she wants is to put her entire family in danger.
But this bruja with ever-growing magical abilities can never resist a good fight. With her new identity, Rose, an unabashed flapper, defies societal expectations all while struggling to keep her true self and witchcraft in check. However, the harder she tries to avoid scrutiny, the more her efforts eventually capture unwanted attention. Soon, she finds herself surrounded by greed and every brand of bigotry—from local gangsters who want a piece of the action and businessmen who hate her diverse staff to the Ku Klux Klan and Al Capone. Will her earth magic be enough to save her friends and family? As much as she hates to admit it, she may need to learn to have faith in others—and learning to trust may prove to be her biggest ambition yet.
Scorched Grace by Margo Douaihy
Sister Holiday, a chain-smoking, heavily tattooed, queer nun, puts her amateur sleuthing skills to the test in this debut crime novel.
When Saint Sebastian’s School becomes the target of a shocking arson spree, the Sisters of the Sublime Blood and their surrounding community are thrust into chaos. Unsatisfied with the officials’ response, sardonic and headstrong Sister Holiday becomes determined to unveil the mysterious attacker herself and return her home and sanctuary to its former peace. Her investigation leads down a twisty path of suspicion and secrets in the sticky, oppressive New Orleans heat, turning her against colleagues, students, and even fellow Sisters along the way.
Sister Holiday is more faithful than most, but she’s no saint. To piece together the clues of this high-stakes mystery, she must first reckon with the sins of her checkered past—and neither task will be easy.
An exciting start to Margo Douaihy’s bold series for Gillian Flynn Books that breathes new life into the hard-boiled genre, Scorched Grace is a fast-paced and punchy whodunnit that will keep readers guessing until the very end.
The Shadow in the Glass by J.J.A. Harwood
Once upon a time Ella had wished for more than her life as a lowly maid.
Now forced to work hard under the unforgiving, lecherous gaze of the man she once called stepfather, Ella’s only refuge is in the books she reads by candlelight, secreted away in the library she isn’t permitted to enter.
One night, among her beloved books of far-off lands, Ella’s wishes are answered. At the stroke of midnight, a fairy godmother makes her an offer that will change her life: seven wishes, hers to make as she pleases. But each wish comes at a price and Ella must decide whether it’s one she’s willing pay.
A smoldering, terrifying new spin on Cinderella – perfect for fans of Laura Purcell and Erin Morgenstern.
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
In this exhilarating novel, two friends—often in love, but never lovers—come together as creative partners in the world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality.
On a bitter-cold day, in the December of his junior year at Harvard, Sam Masur exits a subway car and sees, amid the hordes of people waiting on the platform, Sadie Green. He calls her name. For a moment, she pretends she hasn’t heard him, but then, she turns, and a game begins: a legendary collaboration that will launch them to stardom. These friends, intimates since childhood, borrow money, beg favors, and, before even graduating college, they have created their first blockbuster, Ichigo. Overnight, the world is theirs. Not even twenty-five years old, Sam and Sadie are brilliant, successful, and rich, but these qualities won’t protect them from their own creative ambitions of the betrayals of their hearts.
Spanning thirty years, from Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Venice Beach, California, and lands in between and far beyond, Gabrielle Zevin’s Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is a dazzling and intricately imagined novel that examines the multifarious nature of identity, disability, failure, the redemptive possibilities in play, and above all, our need to connect: to be loved and to love. Yes, it is a love story, but it is not one you have read before.
Black Beauty by Anna Sewell
As a young horse, Black Beauty is well-loved and happy. But when his owner is forced to sell him, his life changes drastically. He has many new owners—some of them cruel and some of them kind. All he needs is someone to love him again…
Whether pulling and elegant carriage or a ramshackle cab, Black Beauty tries to live as best he can. This is his amazing story, told as only he could tell it.
Inferno by Dan Brown
Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon awakens in an Italian hospital, disoriented and with no recollection of the past thirty-six hours, including the origin of the macabre object hidden in his belongings. With a relentless female assassin trailing them through Florence, he and his resourceful doctor, Sienna Brooks, are forced to flee. Embarking on a harrowing journey, they must unravel a series of codes, which are the work of a brilliant scientist whose obsession with the end of the world is matched only by his passion for one of the most influential masterpieces ever written, Dante Alighieri’s The Inferno.
Dan Brown has raised the bar yet again, combining classical Italian art, history, and literature with cutting-edge science in this sumptuously entertaining thriller.
Camp Damascus by Chuck Tingle
A searing and earnest horror debut about the demons the queer community faces in America, the price of keeping secrets, and finding the courage to burn it all down.
They’ll scare you straight to hell.
Welcome to Neverton, Montana: home to a God-fearing community with a heart of gold. Nestled high up in the mountains is Camp Damascus, the self-proclaimed “most effective” gay conversion camp in the country. Here, a life free from sin awaits. But the secret behind that success is anything but holy.

AND ANOTHER THING! Going off of my tags on my previous post, outside of me just thinking they're cute I also feel like flowerbyte works better for me purely on a narrative level. One of my biggest pet peeves esp for action movies is when the romantic subplot takes over like half the story without proper development. It doesn't matter WHO it is or how much I like the characters individually I will literally fast forward through every romantic scene if it feels shoehorned in. It makes it so tedious you don't even understand. (Haterism ahead. Well not really 'hate' just mild irritation really. this is looong):
So let's look at Gwen and Miles' relationsip. We start ITSV with Miles basically having a one-sided crush on Gwen. By the end of the film they had just agreed to be friends and have known each other for maybe like a week tops, and *maybe* Gwen reciprocates but it's not extremely clear. Whatever occurs between them in between ITSV and ATSV, we don't see (it's implied that they haven't even seen each other at all for obvious reasons so. oof).
But then we jump into ATSV, and suddenly they're swinging into the sunset talking about how they're "the same"...? Besties. Friends. Niece and nephew. Neither of you know each other dfghjkl
Then the wholeee rest of their scenes together is just the film trying desperately convince us through the music, framing, and even other characters' dialogue that there is romantic (notice how i specify ROMANTIC) tension between these two kids that is just so thick you could cut through it with a butter knife. I'm sorry, but is this tension in the room with us right now...? But okay movie.
Now, compare that to the scene in ATSV where Miles and Margo first bump into each other. They're able to establish romantic chemistry almost IMMEDIATELY! One look and a 'hey'. That's all it fuckin' took! They *both* like each other and it's clear as day.
Then right after, Margo is given a quick implied backstory that instantly gives her and Miles a reason to relate to each other that isn't (necessarily) just about them both being Spider-Man (because, in Margo's words, they're ALL Spider-Man and this means you need more than that to form a genuine connection). Neither of them feel like they can be themselves because their environment at home doesn't allow for it, even without the secret identity. Bada-bing bada-boom instant connection in under 5 minutes and I am still awake by the end of it.
Then, finally, we get a scene that shows that they can, to some extent, trust each other. Margo only just met this dude a few scenes ago, but she immediately goes against Miguel's wishes knowing the consequences and attempts to send him back home because her convictions are stronger than her loyalty to Spider Society. Just that act alone makes her a better ally to Miles than like, half the cast at this point.
...And that creates a bit of a dilemma if Gwiles is meant to be endgame.
As literally everyone and their mother have pointed out by now, Gwen is objectively a bad friend to Miles in this film. But...I would also argue that there are very few instances outside of combat in either film where she's even a *good* friend. And that's sort of the point, isn't it? Gwen has been terrible at friendship for the majority of the time we spend with her because she's traumatized from literally murdering the last good friend she had. Then her dad tried to shoot her. Then Miguel-- you know how it goes. She clearly has a long way to go before even a healthy *friendship* with Miles can start to develop. So that leaves me with a few questions:
A) Why did we wait until the last scene of the SECOND FILM for her to finally decide to be a good friend
B) Why didn't they just give Miles and Gwen more scenes together where they actually get to know each other if their relationship is now so important to the story, and:
C) If Gwen's whole journey is about her inability to maintain strong friendships...Why the FUCK is she the love interest then???
Either we all just got baited, or we are now going to have to spend a decent portion of BTSV watching Gwen try to salvage a friendship that was barely even that developed to begin with, convince the guy whose trust she just lost that she would ALSO make a good girlfriend i guess, and all the while there is now another potential love interest that is clearly, *according to the movie itself*, the better option (or so it seems for now). So like...Where do we go from here?? It just feels like a clumsy narrative decision. And if they do the misogynistic ass 'cat-fight' between two female characters over the main guy I will literally commit a felony. So yeah that's where my head is at right now thank you for reading all the way through my tangent over pixels on a screen sorry everybody
#blabbering#u can disagree but keep it cute#these are just things that don't make sense to ME in MY brain#and again we are only talking about narrative for the most part ship who you want i dont care#.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. spread the self-love ❤
Oh god, this is so hard! As it stands on AO3, I have 309 fics posted (and with 5 days until summer break, so many more on the way). So *coughs* I choose a few more than five...
Partners: Academy cadet Melinda May expects to be assigned with a fellow specialist after Graduation. When a provisional list says otherwise, Melinda decides to prove that she and her future partner are not a good match. But as she gets to know field agent Phil Coulson, Melinda realises they are perfect together in more ways than one.
Drive Time: Former CIA Agent Melinda May is having trouble adjusting to the real world. But she finds help in the form of radio DJ Phil Coulson.
Head, Hand, Heart: When Jaime slays King Aerys, there is no one to take his place. Ned, fearing a Lannister rise to power, suggests his father’s ward, Brienne of Tarth, take the throne. She reluctantly agrees, and finds an ally in Ser Jaime. His loyalty is given by asking just one question: why. As the Maid of Tarth becomes Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, the Kingslayer becomes Hand to the Queen. And, the longer they spend together, possibly more.
Sun and Moon: On his seventh nameday, Jaime Lannister receives his soul mark: a crest with yellow suns and crescent moons. He thinks nothing of it until forty years later, when he meets museum curator Brienne Tarth.
What Comes After: John Sheridan dies at Coriana VI. Six days later, he returns home.
Every Courtesy: John and Delenn's first date, as told through captain's logs, unsent letters, text messages and interviews with the President and Entil'Zha themselves.
And from my newest fandom:
Red Moon: In 1968 at the IAC conference, two lonely engineers make a wager over who will go first to the Moon. In 1969, Sergei calls upon Margo to collect his winnings.
Handsome Young Suitor: Every day, Margo Madison has lunch with Russian defector, Sergei Nikulov. When the gossips at JSC assume that they're in a relationship, Margo decides to take decisive action: ignore Sergei and hope him (and her feelings) go away. But Sergei has never met a problem he could not solve and he is not so easily dissuaded.
