My highly abusive and violent Twitch audience (2+ Billion viewers) forced my hand and made me post this. I didn’t want to but I feared for my life. I painted this quick sketch to loosen up because I literally paralyzed myself by overthinking. You try dealing with a juicy brain that weighs a deuce and a half and see if you don’t have overthinking issues. My goal here was to not focus so much on being perfect and to just finish something. I essentially squinted down so I could see simple shapes and I painted the basic light value while focusing on exaggerating colors and making solid brushstrokes without blending too much. After some time I apparently started to hallucinate which is why I put foliage on her and a forest surrounding her. Ever so often I need to take a day to prep for new work. This entails preparing new canvas/panels and reclaiming old by priming and texturing the surface, color toning, and marking images. It’s a day spent scrubbing acrylic paint and gesso off brushes and hands, re-stretching canvas, and carefully creating designs and drawings. I started out the day working on a different portrait that took a turn for the worst. I’d already spent about an hour on it so I slogged on for another hour before postponing the endeavor until tomorrow. I switched to this portrait with the idea I would just keep it loose and fun and fast...keep it moving. A few minutes to lay in a basic drawing and a little over 30 minutes painting time and I now feel I have at least accomplished something (and most of my earlier frustration has dissipated).
