@theladyyavilee just sending me into fucking orbit with these tags. it's fine it' cool
obsessed with eddie crawling into his shell in this episode actually. obsessed with the notion that therapy isn’t an immediate fix-all and while he lost his mind while his partner was actively dying in front of him, once there’s nothing left to do, he also seemed return to similar coping mechanisms as we saw when he thought chris was gone. not completely. there’s a difference for sure. and i do think he lets himself feel more while he’s at home. but he still seems to try to suppress the pain to a degree and it makes me so insane.
he can’t talk yet. they can’t talk yet.

Steph's Year of Recovery
So! Danny noticed that a new face had made it's way into town. Two new faces actually, an older lady known as Dr Leslie, and a girl about his age called Steph.
He first met them when he was at the hospital for one of his parents. They had stood too close to an explosion again, and he met them while he was in the waiting Area.
Dr Leslie was a strict but obviously caring older woman, who seemed to be the one taking care of Steph as a kind of maternal figure, or maybe more like an Aunt. She greeted him simply and then walked away to talk with the Secretary, leaving him to talk to Steph.
Steph was a blond girl in a Wheelchair, and he could see bandages piking out of her clothes as he talked to her. She explained that she had been in an Accident a few weeks ago that left her wheelchair bound for a while, and that she had come to Amity for their surprisingly good Medical Centers.
He and Steph got along really well, and by the end of it he asked her for her Number so they could continue talking later. They stayed in touch, and when she was finally permitted to leave the Hospital, he introduced her to his friends. They all got along like a House on Fire, both figuratively and in one memorable case very literally (Vlad had pissed them off okay!)
Eventually Steph recovered enough that she moved from a Wheelchair to Crutches, and their shenanigans got even more chaotic (Vlad hadn't even pissed them off, this time was just for fun)
The only thing Danny could complain about was the fact that Steph was hiding something from them.
She said that she had been in an Accident a while ago, which was why they had come to Amity in the first place. But Danny knew it was more than that.
He could sense lingering traces of Death coming from her after all.
...
Steph honestly loved her current life.
Sure she had lost everything, her home, her health, her friends, her life, but she had gained new things too! Like Danny and the Gang! They were honestly some of the best friends she had ever had, and for some reason they just clicked with her instantly.
Danny was interesting and funny, Sam was vegan and a badass, Tucker was smart and witty, they all fit with her personality perfectly! It almost felt like she bad been friends with them for years. (She ignored the way her heart skipped a beat when she saw them)
But she still couldn't shake the sense that they were hiding something from her.
She knew it had something to do with the Ghost Problem in the town. And wasn't that a kicker, there was a whole Supernatural Ghost Outbreak in this Town and nobody knew about it. Dr Leslie had said that Amity was off the map enough to hide from Bruce, but she hadn't mentioned it was hidden from the Justice League itself!
Danny, Sam, and Tucker definitely knew more about it than they let on however. Whenever a Ghost Attack would happen, at least one of them would rush off with some practiced excuse and return after the Ghost Attack was over all dirty. She could guess what was going on, and she really didn't like it.
(This had killed her, she had died doing what they were doing, she didn't want to lose them)
Eventually she had to confront them, coincidentally on the same day they decided to confront her.
"Are you Vigilantes?" / "Did you die?"
"..."
"What?" / "What?"

Irondad fic ideas #155
Tony can be... a bit overbearing with his helicopter parent tendencies. To combat this, Peter sets up a small protocol with FRIDAY.
Any time Tony wants to do something paranoid or invasive, FRIDAY is to send him a helpful article first, with titles like "Excessive Surveillance Can Harm Adolescent Development, Study Finds" and "Why Teens Need Privacy From Their Parents"
Peter leaves the choice of articles up to FRIDAY, trusting her to send ones that fit the situation.
While this protocol does get Tony to reconsider some of his more... extreme impractical requests, in most cases it fails to change his mind. Being hands-off about Peter's safety is not something he can do -- not when he knows the kinds of dangers this particular kid could face.
He's grateful for the insight that the protocol has given him, though. So instead of removing it, he decides to add to it. He asks FRIDAY to make it a two-way street. Now, whenever Peter complains about one of Tony's safety protocols, FRIDAY will send an article to help him understand
However, Tony doesn't anticipate the kinds of articles FRIDAY will choose. While she continues to send Tony studies and editorials, to Peter she sends news reports from Tony's past
Peter's mad that Tony has put trackers in everything he owns? -- "Tony Stark Still Missing: Inside Month Three of the Harrowing Search"
Peter hates the constant health monitoring that FRIDAY does when he's in the tower? -- "Death Wish or Death Sentence? Stark Behavior Tied to Secret Illness that Almost Cost Him His Life"
It goes on and on. For every seemingly insane overreach, there's a story, an experience Tony is trying to protect Peter from.
They both still disagree about how much protection is too much, but at least they understand each other better now

so, we know that abuse and victim responses to abuse are very central to aftg, but what i find interesting is how other characters respond to the victim’s reactions, especially when it comes to mourning their abuser. there’s something about kevin mourning riko, aaron mourning tilda, neil mourning mary, andrew mourning cass, thats so important to me because it really truly highlights how even when people are united through similar traumas, the differences in their situations makes it impossible to fully understand the relationship a person has to their abuser. neil, aaron, and andrew are united through the abuse, neglect, or - what the fuck is the word i’m thinking of? permit? condone? i mean, knowingly allowing it to happen and not intervening - stemming from a maternal figure. but neil can’t understand why andrew would hold on to cass for so long - he refused to let her go until aaron came into the picture. and andrew can’t understand why aaron would mourn for tilda, potentially viewing aaron’s grief as a betrayal of their promise. and they all ridicule kevin for his reactions to riko. of course, neil and andrew are also abused by riko, but they still can’t understand the complicated relationship between kevin and riko because, at the end of the day, they just weren’t there.
i mean this is primarily an observation but i really love how trauma and trauma response is depicted as nuanced, complex and overall just difficult to understand from an outsider perspective in the books. it reads as really real, and though it can be frustrating when a character doesn’t understand a different character’s response, you have to understand that their perception of said character’s response is warped by their own experience of abuse.
andrew bounced from home to home, never had stability, so obviously he held tight on to the first mother-figure that didn’t outright hurt him. his self-worth was probably low enough that he thought living with drake was a fine price to pay to keep cass.
neil only ever had his mother, and he’d willingly accept her harsh hands because he believed she was just keeping him safe from the very real dangers that were closing in on them.
aaron was dealing with an addiction, and so was his mother; he was equally dependent on her to avoid withdrawal as he was scared of her anger.
i don’t really have a point anymore but you get what i’m saying

just watched the x-men movies for the first time because, like all of you, hugh jackman has taken over my mind, soul, and body
and i can’t stop thinking about pretty privilege
about how logan has had loads more trauma than wade, knifes in his hands on top of his mutation, and his personality is- um- less than welcoming
and yet he’s always finding people to surround himself with or ladies to smooch or whatever
but wade, despite being silly and extroverted, gets constant stares in public, constant remarks from other characters, and his roommate is blind so she can’t see his scars. he wears a mask and suit that covers his entire body. he even ghosts vanessa and staples hugh jackman’s face to his face so she won’t see his scars.
he’s scared that the woman that loves him will find him horribly disgusting and leave him just because of his scars
wade is arguably more likable (in terms of being personable, not who’s the more popular character), if not a bit more annoying, than logan and yet he’s always the butt of the joke whereas logan is the wolverine who’s this awesome badass hero
to be fair wolverine is supposed to be a hero starring in action movies and wade’s movies are comedies but i still find it interesting how scarred up wade is the funny character and conventionally attractive babygirl logan howlett is the action hero
and even in x-men origins, the action movie with conventionally attractive ryan reynolds, deadpool is all pale and weird and lacking a mouth
in conclusion, justice for wade and his beautiful funky lookin scars
anyway this is just my late night rambles pls ignore this :P

Out of my element here but
Appreciation post for those orv fans that dissect the story, analyze scenes, share their theories and perspectives here on Tumblr
It’s really cool to see how orv looks from your guys’s perspectives and realizing what some scenes meant
Heck, I believed Kdj’s narrative during the webnovel until the fandom woke me up and handed me depression word soup :)
Personally I can’t really put into words what I think and feel- being able to come across posts where it’s put into words just makes my day
Seeing the orv fandom share endless commentaries of the story, their reactions, alternate universe takes, theories and fanart- it all makes it feel like orv never really ended
But yeah, thank you
(Sorry if the post looked long, I didn’t like how the sentences touched, it looked too squished)

Is Jason struggling hard trying to deal with envy that Tim has taken his family, his place in the court, his dragon? Of course, but at the end of the day Tim never owed Jason’s memory any respect or loyalty. But the egg he stayed up late whispering his hopes and notions of friendship and happiness and protection, patient and gentle for years, despite everyone telling him it was a lost cause. His egg –now a dragon– has forsaken the only person to dedicate themself wholeheartedly to its safekeeping. So Jason might eventually get to a point of understanding and tolerance with Tim but the little dragon must have felt him off in the distance and given up on him. It is the only way the pieces fit together. How can Jason accept that? He never faltered in his belief in his egg but as soon as he seemed weak it discarded him for someone easier to love.
It certainly seems that way to Jason, yeah :/
(Jason has no way of knowing that Robin hatched only a few weeks after his perceived death, and that the little dragon was inconsolable for many months to the point of near starvation, and that Dick and Bruce were so wrung out about Robin’s impending loss that Tim snuck into the dragon caves to try and coax the baby dragon to eat something, and that Robin didn’t just latch onto the first best person he saw, no, Robin felt that Tim came the closest to Jason’s kindness and uplifting spirits for the first time in months….)

if you can understand abuse victims being repulsed by anything associated with their abuse you should remember some have the opposite reaction, and it's not immoral in comparison, it's literally just how your brain processed the trauma. i'm not sure how much the reaction differs for people who first experienced trauma in adulthood, but a lot of child abuse victims develop inappropriate behaviors and do not have "normal" psychosexual development--and a lot of people are completely unaware of this so they think those children are just born evil or something. "child psychopaths".
it's hard to speak about...to be compared to your abuser, to hear "what if it's inherited and you'll hurt people too". to have literal therapists say you're going to end up some type of sex criminal. I wish at the very least, so-called progressive people would not have the same vitriolic reaction as conservatives when it comes to this, but i've had both tell me i'm better off dead, because normal people wouldn't act or feel like I do. but I already know that, because i've wanted to tear myself apart since I was a little kid, just destroy the "me" that is so messed up

Honestly i don't necessarily need Mabel and Theo to become a couple. It's will be enough if they just would be my new equivalent of Midge and Lenny from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, where nobody can explain what this intense thing between them called, but they just understand each other on a completely unique human level that nobody in their lifes capable to provide (they're also eye fuckin)

One of the funniest yet kind of niche dynamic for the LOV is one where they start to have deep conversations about themselves and there respective trauma together and they come SO CLOSE to have a deeply healing epiphany about themselves and why they’re suffering but they’re all too traumatized to connect the dots.
So they just go "damn that’s crazy, anyway"
